- 0:08Speaker 1: Mr ras Sean McDonald. It's Monday, September elevel. I'm live
- 0:15Speaker 1: back on the radio. Past two weeks because we had
- 0:18Speaker 1: Labor Day. I was gonna automatically take that vacation. Week
- 0:22Speaker 1: before that, that's where Hurricane Harvey came into town, shut
- 0:26Speaker 1: the city down, shut my show down, and shut the
- 0:29Speaker 1: station down. When I'm back live to day, we've been running.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We've been We've have been running back to back recorded shows.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So I know people want, where's we Sean McDonald, where's
- 0:38Speaker 1: my money making conversations, what's happening, what's happening, What's happened
- 0:42Speaker 1: when I'm back in, what's happening to them? Just giving
- 0:45Speaker 1: everybody the opportunity to spread the word of ras Sean
- 0:47Speaker 1: McDonald's back on the air, he's live. You know we
- 0:50Speaker 1: should a notification link out to my Facebook followers and
- 0:53Speaker 1: let them know dead tune in, watch share, spread the word.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We got cooking the day I'm back on there. I
- 1:02Speaker 1: just stated that. I just stated we've been running recording
- 1:05Speaker 1: shows for the past two weeks due to Hurricane Harvard.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But money making conversations it's back to give you the
- 1:10Speaker 1: information that will enable you to be successful in your
- 1:13Speaker 1: life and your career. Now, I'm not forgetting the other hurricane,
- 1:18Speaker 1: which is now a tropical storm that's Irma is still
- 1:21Speaker 1: very active because I do have listeners and people watch
- 1:25Speaker 1: my Facebook page in the Florida Georgia area because that's
- 1:28Speaker 1: where Erma is headed up and it is doing damage.
- 1:31Speaker 1: In My prayers out to all the families and all
- 1:35Speaker 1: the small businesses out there. They're trying to stay afloat,
- 1:38Speaker 1: trying to stay focused, trying to keep the head above water.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Now in Houston area, when Hurricane Harvey hit, we were
- 1:46Speaker 1: affected by it. You know, fifty seven inches of rain
- 1:50Speaker 1: hit Parlan, fifty seven inches of rain hit paraland Texas.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Now over my community fifty one inches. Then you go
- 1:58Speaker 1: out to Katie, I think it was like thirty two
- 2:00Speaker 1: inches of rain. So there was there still is ongoing
- 2:03Speaker 1: flood damage occurrent on Houston. Certain roadways in Houston are
- 2:08Speaker 1: still not open. But I'm not wanting to sit back.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I remember on Thursday morning, my brain was fried, Like
- 2:14Speaker 1: I said, what can I do? Because I was trapped
- 2:16Speaker 1: in Atlanta because they were not allowing people to fly
- 2:19Speaker 1: into the Houston airports. So I was just trapped in
- 2:22Speaker 1: the land of my family was trapped here in Houston,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and so I was frustrated. And I got this call
- 2:27Speaker 1: from this gentleman who is the founder and owner of
- 2:31Speaker 1: the Texas Black Expo, and he wanted to do something
- 2:34Speaker 1: in regards to helping out small businesses. I said, Okay,
- 2:39Speaker 1: what you wanna do? He said, can you can we
- 2:41Speaker 1: use your name, use your brand Rashan McDonald to assist
- 2:45Speaker 1: in some type of foundation drive or some donation drive
- 2:49Speaker 1: to assist small businesses who were damaged affected by Hurricane Harvey,
- 2:54Speaker 1: they said. He said, I said, I'm your man. Let's
- 2:57Speaker 1: do it, so through your donations. Because I went on
- 3:00Speaker 1: my go FUNDI page, we set that up and combined
- 3:03Speaker 1: it with his goal was now only if you go
- 3:06Speaker 1: to this website right now. We're still taking the donations.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But as of the date, as of this date right here,
- 3:11Speaker 1: we've given out fifteen one thousand dollar checks so far,
- 3:17Speaker 1: fifteen one thousand dollar checks to small businesses that have
- 3:21Speaker 1: been impacted by Hurricane Harvey do this high winds, its floodwaters,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and and my goal is a hundred So we're still
- 3:28Speaker 1: accepting donations. But here, all I'm just telling you is
- 3:31Speaker 1: that when you when you, when you, when you're feeling frustrated,
- 3:36Speaker 1: do something, don't let the system beat you up. And
- 3:40Speaker 1: I refuse to let the system beat me up. And
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's the system in this case was Hurricane Harvey, and
- 3:45Speaker 1: Herricane Harvey should It's one of those things. It's one
- 3:48Speaker 1: of the roadblocks you in your life. You know, it's
- 3:50Speaker 1: a speed bump, and sometimes it's a lot. It's difficult.
- 3:53Speaker 1: There's different levels of speed bumps, and some people go,
- 3:55Speaker 1: you don't understand Rashan just I do understand. I'm a
- 3:58Speaker 1: native Houstonian. You know, Hurricane Harvey is not my first hurricane.
- 4:03Speaker 1: It will not be my last hurricane. You know, I
- 4:06Speaker 1: have a home here in Houston, so I had concerns
- 4:08Speaker 1: about My mom lives here in Houston, my sisters and
- 4:12Speaker 1: my brothers live here in Houston, family members. I went
- 4:14Speaker 1: to high school in Houston. I went to college here
- 4:17Speaker 1: in Houston. I was employed in Houston. So I do
- 4:19Speaker 1: have a passion and a clear understanding of what goes
- 4:22Speaker 1: on in this city and the future of this city.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And I want to commend the mayor of this city
- 4:27Speaker 1: Sylvester Turner for doing a tremendous job. And you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: because the first thing they do is look at what
- 4:34Speaker 1: he's doing wrong. And my, my people, he was doing
- 4:37Speaker 1: everything right because that young man, Sylvester Turner, our great
- 4:41Speaker 1: mayor of the City of Houston, did his thing. Of course, J. J.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Watt got to commend that that brother thirty one million dollars.
- 4:49Speaker 1: He stepped out there. Kevin Hart stepped out there. A
- 4:52Speaker 1: lot of people stepped out there. Eric Carr, my man
- 4:55Speaker 1: on the north side, even e construction, he stepped out
- 4:59Speaker 1: there con donations, you know, buying three boats, pallettes of water,
- 5:05Speaker 1: food for the underprivileged. Eric Carr. If you see that
- 5:08Speaker 1: young man walking down the street, pat him on the back,
- 5:11Speaker 1: take a selfie with him, because he is truly a
- 5:14Speaker 1: Houston hero. And may myself, I'm just Rashwan McDonald. I'm
- 5:18Speaker 1: just here every Monday to make you feel good about yourself.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Not just talking to the people in Houston. I'm talking
- 5:23Speaker 1: to the people worldwide. That's what we do, worldwide communication.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I got my man to Da Henderson. He's handling the comments.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But guess what, I got my laptop open today and
- 5:33Speaker 1: I will handle your comments. So why should you why
- 5:37Speaker 1: should you be listening watching money making conversation Because I'm here.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'm doing a little bit different. I know. I started
- 5:45Speaker 1: the show celebrity after celebrity after celebrity after celebrity. Well,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm really gonna start transcending or trans uh, changing up
- 5:54Speaker 1: a little bit. And it's a good little bit because
- 5:57Speaker 1: I want to bring in individuals that I feel you
- 6:00Speaker 1: can relate to. I used to start Power just to
- 6:03Speaker 1: give my name out there. Nice time to really start
- 6:05Speaker 1: hearing from the small entrepreneurs like you. People out there
- 6:10Speaker 1: who are doing the everyday hustle. You know, don't have
- 6:13Speaker 1: fifteen twenty million dollars twenties social media follows, just building
- 6:17Speaker 1: their brand step by step, mortar by mortar, idea by idea,
- 6:21Speaker 1: prayer by prayer, doing it every day. And so today,
- 6:25Speaker 1: let me just run down the type of guests that
- 6:26Speaker 1: I have on my show. I got my man a
- 6:29Speaker 1: d Dolphin. A d Dolphin is a health expert and
- 6:32Speaker 1: CEO of the Herbs. I brought him on the show
- 6:35Speaker 1: so he can tell you how he's His startup Idea
- 6:39Speaker 1: has now turned into a multimillion dollar health and wellness company.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Come on, now he had not. He had an idea
- 6:47Speaker 1: just like you, because you full ideas. And I've been
- 6:52Speaker 1: knowing him since two thousand and four, so we got
- 6:54Speaker 1: a little history. So it's not like I haven't seen
- 6:56Speaker 1: him developed these things. I remember when he first came
- 7:00Speaker 1: aim to the Steve Harvey Morning Show, you know, trying
- 7:02Speaker 1: to advertise locally in the l A market. And then
- 7:05Speaker 1: guess what he really had it. He just had an
- 7:08Speaker 1: idea and a little chump change back then. Then all
- 7:11Speaker 1: of a sudden years later, check this out. Years later,
- 7:15Speaker 1: a decade later, he's not on advertising on the national
- 7:18Speaker 1: Steve Harry Morning Show, but he's also advertising on the
- 7:21Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Talk Show. That's what I'm talking about, taking
- 7:25Speaker 1: an idea and growing it to a brand that's nationally recognized.
- 7:31Speaker 1: That's why I got a d dolphin on the show.
- 7:33Speaker 1: That's why you should be listening to the show today
- 7:36Speaker 1: so you can hear how he did it, and he
- 7:39Speaker 1: will be able to tell you information about his passion,
- 7:42Speaker 1: how he turned passion into execution. That's the key. How
- 7:46Speaker 1: do you turn passion into execution? That is why I
- 7:50Speaker 1: have a d dolphin on the show. Then my next
- 7:53Speaker 1: guest he's a he's a person. I had to bring
- 7:56Speaker 1: back Chef Jernard Wales. Now when I had Chef Jenard
- 8:00Speaker 1: else in the show, he missed everybody elp when he
- 8:03Speaker 1: was telling everybody how he got this product on store shelves. Well,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I got him back on the show. If you don't
- 8:09Speaker 1: know Chef Gnard Wales, check this out. He's a Food
- 8:13Speaker 1: Network star. He's an ambassador for vost Water. And also
- 8:18Speaker 1: this Saturday, I created a partnership with him because on
- 8:21Speaker 1: my Facebook page, if you know, as you follow me
- 8:24Speaker 1: on on my fan fan page, you know, as I
- 8:27Speaker 1: do my dessert videos. Every Wednesday, I do the Baker Spotlight,
- 8:33Speaker 1: which a spotlight homemade baking Stars. If you're not familiar
- 8:36Speaker 1: with that, go to Rashan McDonald dot com and you
- 8:40Speaker 1: check it out. It's awesome. And then all of a sudden,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do Rashaan Eats all these top restaurants around the country,
- 8:48Speaker 1: not only where I eat at, but also fans tell
- 8:51Speaker 1: me he was Sean, you didn't put this on Rashawn Eats.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And also but what was missing was cookie somebody cooking,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and so he would send me these videos. Richelle, what
- 9:02Speaker 1: about this video College Flower I said, okay, I don't
- 9:05Speaker 1: nobody that one. Then and then as to getting that
- 9:08Speaker 1: guy with my staff and we get to the conference
- 9:10Speaker 1: car and said, can he makes some adjustments? He was
- 9:12Speaker 1: willing to make adjustments in his videos. And this past Saturday,
- 9:16Speaker 1: we launched on our Facebook. For my Facebook for every
- 9:20Speaker 1: Saturday at nine am, you'll be able to see Chef
- 9:23Speaker 1: Grnard Welles videos outstanding. That's how you create a partnership.
- 9:30Speaker 1: That's how you create a relationship. So may help him
- 9:33Speaker 1: build his brand through my Facebook and my social media world,
- 9:36Speaker 1: so he'd be back on the show. Basically to turn
- 9:39Speaker 1: your dreams in the kitchen to money making conversations. And
- 9:42Speaker 1: then my favorite person of bringing back Laura foods. Now,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something about Laura. Laura is the
- 9:47Speaker 1: only three time guests. That's right. I only started this
- 9:51Speaker 1: show May first. This is a third time. Now. She
- 9:54Speaker 1: was supposed to be a studio today because she had
- 9:58Speaker 1: a conference, but the conference was canceled due to Hurricane Harvey.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So I will have her on the phone. I'm very disappointed.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna let her know. I'm very disappointed that I'm
- 10:07Speaker 1: not having her in studio though, because she really wanted
- 10:09Speaker 1: to co host with me today and her skill self
- 10:12Speaker 1: status phenomenal. She would show you how to multitask your
- 10:15Speaker 1: way to financial success. Again, did you even that multitask
- 10:20Speaker 1: your way to financial success? So right now I got
- 10:24Speaker 1: how to start, how start up? How to turn your
- 10:27Speaker 1: startup idea to a million dollar company, how to turn
- 10:30Speaker 1: your dreams in the kitchen to money making conversations, how
- 10:35Speaker 1: to multitask your way to financial success. Then I might
- 10:38Speaker 1: have Melissa Aliba. She's a life coach extraordinary. She's gonna
- 10:43Speaker 1: tell you how you are holding yourself back from your
- 10:46Speaker 1: next big opportunity. Come on now, how you are holding
- 10:51Speaker 1: yourself back? Because see that's called excuses. That's that's what
- 10:54Speaker 1: I'm just gonna put it right there, excuses excuses? How
- 10:59Speaker 1: you holding yourself back from your next big opportunity. And
- 11:04Speaker 1: finally on the show today, McGarr t Kane is back,
- 11:10Speaker 1: my backing baking expert from my sweet Heaven. She is
- 11:13Speaker 1: a gift for all my listeners and viewers. On Money
- 11:16Speaker 1: Making Conversation today, tears were going to break. Now cool,
- 11:22Speaker 1: We're gonna we were right and stop startling? Did that
- 11:25Speaker 1: big appreciation? Now I'm starts ladies and gentlemen. When I
- 11:28Speaker 1: come back, I have on the air with me a
- 11:33Speaker 1: d DF CEO of the Earths how to take a
- 11:37Speaker 1: start up and turn it into a multimillion dollar couple.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Tell everybody, Tell everybody out there. Moneymaking conversation is back,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and ra Sean McDonald is live. Welcome back to money
- 11:56Speaker 1: making conversations. My next guest I have for two breaks.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm too breaks because when he has something to say
- 12:04Speaker 1: and I want him to tell y'all because I I've
- 12:07Speaker 1: I've had personal conversations with him, members of his family.
- 12:11Speaker 1: He's come from an amazing family. My next guest did
- 12:15Speaker 1: not come from a family of doctors, health professionals, or
- 12:18Speaker 1: even her books. He is born of a lioneage of entrepreneurs.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Please work on the money making conversations. Health and Wellness
- 12:26Speaker 1: Experts and CEO of w W dot d RBS dot
- 12:30Speaker 1: com a d doctor. Hey, how you doing, my man?
- 12:36Speaker 1: My man, I'm so happy to hear from you, because
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know, every time I hear from your energies at
- 12:42Speaker 1: a certain level, a D you know you gotta bring
- 12:46Speaker 1: it well. Well, I know, first we have I had
- 12:52Speaker 1: sched you for one break and I went you know
- 12:55Speaker 1: you have such an amazing life and your family is
- 12:58Speaker 1: an amazing family, and fortunately meet some of them and
- 13:02Speaker 1: h and and that's been amazing journey in itself. When
- 13:06Speaker 1: but then we want to talk about some of that,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but I also want to talk about you know, you know,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I know you're not in the finish line yet, but
- 13:14Speaker 1: how the first all at all, and and and tell
- 13:18Speaker 1: us tell us what's your vision? First of all, tell
- 13:20Speaker 1: everybody what the herbs is. Let's get that out the
- 13:22Speaker 1: way first. Okay, Well, first of all, the Earb's is
- 13:25Speaker 1: an all natural herbal company. We have over four hundred
- 13:27Speaker 1: products and that word natural really means something to us. Uh.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Our products are one hun plant base and that's hard
- 13:37Speaker 1: to find these days because everybody's trying to make a
- 13:39Speaker 1: buck and put out a cheap product. And we went
- 13:42Speaker 1: the other way. We said we're gonna put out a
- 13:44Speaker 1: quality product one percent of the time. And so with
- 13:48Speaker 1: that being said, I remember we met way back in
- 13:51Speaker 1: the day on the l A Radio said with Steve
- 13:53Speaker 1: harv and I were doing local radio in l A. Right,
- 13:57Speaker 1: and you remember you came to the station. One of
- 13:59Speaker 1: the advertising you did advertise on the local filling and
- 14:01Speaker 1: That's why I said earlier the beauty of watching a
- 14:04Speaker 1: relationship is that I saw you advertise, you know with
- 14:07Speaker 1: a modest budget. You know, because we have a start up,
- 14:10Speaker 1: you're gonna have a modest budget. But you saw the
- 14:12Speaker 1: the need to expand your the word about your brand.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And then and then to see you then you came
- 14:19Speaker 1: on board. You contact Rashwan, this team, we can work
- 14:21Speaker 1: a relationship on the national platform on the Steve Harvey
- 14:24Speaker 1: Morning Show exactly which made it national, which made it national.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And then then then I was in this past year
- 14:31Speaker 1: in seen he's Rashan, I want to come on the
- 14:34Speaker 1: talk show and then and please tell everybody each step
- 14:39Speaker 1: how to affect it your business and what was the
- 14:42Speaker 1: rationality for each room. I'm talking about locally when you
- 14:44Speaker 1: was in l A. Then went to the national platform,
- 14:47Speaker 1: and then we went to the TV right, so resign
- 14:52Speaker 1: when we started off on radio, my brother has the
- 14:55Speaker 1: advertising uh business marketing degree. Um, we created this whole
- 15:01Speaker 1: platform that we weren't gonna do typical stuff that herbal
- 15:05Speaker 1: companies typically do, Like we weren't gonna try to be
- 15:08Speaker 1: inside the stores. We were going to create that people
- 15:12Speaker 1: to come back to us opposed to going to stores
- 15:16Speaker 1: and and doing all this stuff. So we just decided
- 15:19Speaker 1: to promote our own personal our own personal website. So
- 15:23Speaker 1: we started off locally, um, like you said, with a
- 15:26Speaker 1: modest budget. Um, we we've seen something there. We're just like, Okay,
- 15:30Speaker 1: if we do this on a bigger scale, like a
- 15:33Speaker 1: national scale, you might be able to see bigger, bigger
- 15:37Speaker 1: revenues as far as that coming in, bigger dollars coming in.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And it did just that. I mean the first of all,
- 15:44Speaker 1: when we first did the Steve Harvey National radio show,
- 15:48Speaker 1: let me tell you that you're talking about a business
- 15:51Speaker 1: that was probably making about m maybe about sixties a month,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you know when when we went national. And I don't
- 15:59Speaker 1: mind a numbers because I just think people really need
- 16:02Speaker 1: to hear real numbers and how certain things actually really drastically,
- 16:07Speaker 1: drastically affected our business when we did, when we went
- 16:11Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey national platform, we went from making
- 16:14Speaker 1: sixty thousand a month to five dollars a day. Wow,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's the difference. And that's the difference now now listen,
- 16:25Speaker 1: But there was some along the way. You do question
- 16:27Speaker 1: that move, don't you? What what makes you go to
- 16:30Speaker 1: the next step. That's why I want people to hear
- 16:32Speaker 1: because I don't want to. That's why I gave two
- 16:34Speaker 1: breaks to you a D because I want your story, man,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and you're not you know. You know, let's put this way.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm having you back because you're an inspiration, because you're
- 16:43Speaker 1: that guy that i've seen build this brand out. You're
- 16:46Speaker 1: that guy that I have people who said, I got
- 16:48Speaker 1: an idea? What do I do with the idea? And
- 16:51Speaker 1: there's so many key steps. Well, first of all, you
- 16:54Speaker 1: can't build these kinds of brands unless you develop relationships
- 16:57Speaker 1: with people like yourself. Because now only have you not
- 17:02Speaker 1: only have you been a really super good friend and
- 17:04Speaker 1: just gave me great business advice, you know what I mean?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Like like that, it's important to be able to have
- 17:10Speaker 1: mentors like yourself, like a Steve Harvey and go back
- 17:14Speaker 1: and talk to them. But let me tell you about
- 17:16Speaker 1: some of our struggles that we did. They remember. I
- 17:20Speaker 1: remember we were trying we were doing radio with Kathy
- 17:23Speaker 1: Hughes and we were trying to really develop our platform.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And it was the first radio show that we were
- 17:29Speaker 1: kind of thinking about doing. Um My brother came to me,
- 17:33Speaker 1: he was like, it's gonna cost us twelve thousand dollars,
- 17:36Speaker 1: and I told him, absolutely not, we are not doing it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I like, twelve th dollars. What they're gonna do like
- 17:44Speaker 1: it is, that's never gonna work. So then so then
- 17:48Speaker 1: he then he came back to me, He's like, Okay,
- 17:50Speaker 1: they said they'll do it for eleven. I was like, man,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I'm not doing this for eleven thousand dollars. And then
- 17:56Speaker 1: he came back to me. I was like, he's like,
- 17:58Speaker 1: they're doing for ten five five And next scene, you know,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'd like, look if they get below ten thousand, I
- 18:04Speaker 1: give him a shot. Now, this is our very first
- 18:07Speaker 1: platform that we ever decided to be on. Very first,
- 18:12Speaker 1: very first like national platform prior to the Steve Harvey
- 18:16Speaker 1: National radio show, beside after local, so after we decided
- 18:20Speaker 1: to do local. So like I said, we're making like
- 18:23Speaker 1: about sixty thousand at the time a month, not just
- 18:28Speaker 1: doing local ads, you know, doing paper click ad words
- 18:33Speaker 1: and things like that. So, um, we did the national
- 18:37Speaker 1: platform with the Cathy Hughes radio station, and let me
- 18:42Speaker 1: tell you, we got a chance to see what it
- 18:45Speaker 1: would be like on the Steve Harvey which was a
- 18:48Speaker 1: much much a hundred times bigger than what we did
- 18:51Speaker 1: it on. We doubled our business overnight. We went from
- 18:55Speaker 1: sixty thousand a month to a hundred and twenty thousand
- 19:00Speaker 1: a month overnight that platform. My brother finally came to me,
- 19:04Speaker 1: He's like, they're doing for nine five. I said, forget it.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I said, let's go for it. We'll give it a shot.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And that's when gave me the impression like, Okay, you
- 19:13Speaker 1: know what, if we can get to a Steve Harvey
- 19:17Speaker 1: or just a bigger platform, we can really really do
- 19:21Speaker 1: something what you know with this business. And that's exactly
- 19:25Speaker 1: what we did. That's when after that, after we did that,
- 19:28Speaker 1: I think we did another plat platform with Jathie Hughes
- 19:31Speaker 1: on her and then after that we went straight to
- 19:33Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Show and begin going to work. Now,
- 19:35Speaker 1: he's the funny part. I would just gonna let you
- 19:37Speaker 1: know he he threw out the word mentor. But this
- 19:40Speaker 1: is a skilled negotiator because C. A. D Is leaving
- 19:44Speaker 1: out the part that you know, when he spends his money,
- 19:47Speaker 1: he likes to know how it's being used because whether
- 19:51Speaker 1: it's being used through a contest or it's gonna be
- 19:54Speaker 1: posted in social media or it's gonna be posted in
- 19:57Speaker 1: the news letter, or it's gonna be posted on the
- 19:59Speaker 1: whar website, or who's actually reading the live read And
- 20:04Speaker 1: that's not the people need to hear that just you
- 20:07Speaker 1: just don't go to a radio station or the TV.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It's It's definitely a plan involved a lot more detail. Um,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but yeah, we do. We want to know exactly what's
- 20:19Speaker 1: going on, who's gonna read it, how it's gonna be used,
- 20:23Speaker 1: who's gonna say it, because we don't do we only
- 20:26Speaker 1: do live reads. We only do live reads. And we
- 20:30Speaker 1: put in another wrinkle in there that I would tell
- 20:33Speaker 1: most businesses if if the radio stations that go for it.
- 20:36Speaker 1: What we did was we asked them, say, look, we're
- 20:39Speaker 1: gonna advertise, we're gonna commit to you guys for the
- 20:42Speaker 1: whole entire year. Can you guys give us an interview
- 20:46Speaker 1: on the radio? There you go. Now that was really, really,
- 20:51Speaker 1: really key for us because a lot of people don't
- 20:54Speaker 1: know this. Those two radio interviews that we asked for
- 20:58Speaker 1: throughout them up, which is complementary for the radio stations
- 21:01Speaker 1: if you can get them to go for it. Um,
- 21:03Speaker 1: it doesn't really it's not really part of the ad
- 21:06Speaker 1: by if you can get them to go for those
- 21:08Speaker 1: two days on that radio station, would literally pay for
- 21:12Speaker 1: your whole entire campaign. And that was that was one
- 21:16Speaker 1: of the big moves that we made. People didn't know
- 21:19Speaker 1: what the numbers that we were really doing on those
- 21:21Speaker 1: interviews and how it really affected our business. And it
- 21:25Speaker 1: changed our business because we would run them in the
- 21:27Speaker 1: beginning of the ad. So we're running day one, let's
- 21:31Speaker 1: say September one week, We'll do an interview. Now after
- 21:35Speaker 1: September one, all the listeners who heard that interview, um,
- 21:40Speaker 1: they they will hear live reads from Shirley Strawberry or
- 21:44Speaker 1: Steve Harvey throughout the weeks. Every every time they uh,
- 21:49Speaker 1: they would reach back into their memory remember that interview,
- 21:53Speaker 1: and here that ad. We were getting more and more
- 21:56Speaker 1: people to purchase our clans. And then after or we
- 22:00Speaker 1: know this, we was like, Okay, after about two weeks,
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's the dwindle. So now we're gonna do another interview interview.
- 22:07Speaker 1: We're gonna do our second interview, and we're gonna run that.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Now we're getting more people, and then after that run
- 22:14Speaker 1: the rest of the ads throughout the following month. And
- 22:16Speaker 1: that was our formula and It worked on every single
- 22:21Speaker 1: radio station that we took. We took that platform, that
- 22:25Speaker 1: ad platform, and that format and took it to all
- 22:28Speaker 1: those different radio stations and it worked every single time.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Now here's the key to it. Everything that you're saying
- 22:35Speaker 1: your product. You gotta have the product and you've got
- 22:39Speaker 1: to be able to deliver the product. Tell everybody about
- 22:42Speaker 1: why what's the benefits of cleansing with your product? Okay,
- 22:46Speaker 1: so first of all, any any business, you gotta have
- 22:50Speaker 1: a great product. You can't just have crap out there.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So I always say make sure you have a good product.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And the DearS for Nobody cleanses probably the best cleans
- 22:57Speaker 1: out there on the market. The last team years, we've
- 23:00Speaker 1: been the number one selling cleans online. Um Our Cleanses
- 23:04Speaker 1: about cleaning out all your major limited channels. That should
- 23:07Speaker 1: God bl out of your heart, your liver, your your spleen,
- 23:09Speaker 1: your lungs, of kidneys, your drenal glands, you're blooding your
- 23:12Speaker 1: skin is gonna flush out all the impurity along with
- 23:15Speaker 1: that process. We always tell people you can't eat the
- 23:17Speaker 1: same food that gave you the notion to cleans during
- 23:20Speaker 1: your clans so therefore you gotta you gotta change those
- 23:22Speaker 1: eating habits. So we asked people to eat a raw
- 23:25Speaker 1: food diet, which means you only can eat fresh fruits, vegetables,
- 23:28Speaker 1: raw nuts, and raw seeds throughout that process. And you
- 23:31Speaker 1: do that for those twenty days, it will one dent
- 23:36Speaker 1: change your life. And that's what we did. We started
- 23:40Speaker 1: changing lives all over the planet because that that because
- 23:43Speaker 1: I remember, that's how your campaign shifted. Remember when we
- 23:46Speaker 1: was talking about it, how it really does change people's lives.
- 23:50Speaker 1: They're out a little health and wellness, and that's really
- 23:53Speaker 1: really important in your branding process. Correct, absolutely, But what
- 23:58Speaker 1: we also know is when you have a great product
- 24:00Speaker 1: and people have that great experience, they tell ten the
- 24:04Speaker 1: twenty other people. And so just word of mouth alone
- 24:08Speaker 1: really really helped us. But being on that radio station,
- 24:12Speaker 1: it was like a megaphone lasting out this information and
- 24:16Speaker 1: it really got people interested in cleansing and and it's
- 24:19Speaker 1: totally totally wanted to present change our business. Wow. And
- 24:24Speaker 1: and when you when you talk about this, we want
- 24:26Speaker 1: to talk about the how television don't say that because
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm saying something. I see that commercial with UH with
- 24:37Speaker 1: Roland Martin on social media and it just continues to
- 24:41Speaker 1: give you love in the d earth world. Correct, let's
- 24:44Speaker 1: talk about that social media commercial just just floating out
- 24:47Speaker 1: there with Steve Harvey and it rolland Martin and it
- 24:50Speaker 1: talking about the DAR brand. That's why I'll just tell
- 24:52Speaker 1: you some my listeners on money making conversation because also
- 24:55Speaker 1: you'll be able to hear this show. I'm picked up
- 24:57Speaker 1: on all day. I heart radio podcast to as well.
- 25:00Speaker 1: This is what it shows gonna go as well. So
- 25:02Speaker 1: it has his legs here you talk to me live here,
- 25:05Speaker 1: but it's going everywhere out to to the podcast world
- 25:08Speaker 1: as well. I think what we gotta go to a
- 25:14Speaker 1: break right now. When I come back, we're gonna talk
- 25:16Speaker 1: about the TV. We're gonna talk. I want to hear
- 25:18Speaker 1: a little bit about your your family, but more importantly
- 25:21Speaker 1: a d I'm just happy to everybody hear who you
- 25:24Speaker 1: are because you're fantastic, great human being. More importantly and
- 25:29Speaker 1: outstanding entrepreneur. We'll be back more how he took an
- 25:32Speaker 1: idea a startup to a multimillion dollar company. The CEO
- 25:37Speaker 1: of the herbs dot com A D Dolphin will be
- 25:40Speaker 1: right back McDonald. I'm back with my man, the CEO
- 25:51Speaker 1: of w W dot D s and dog herbs dot
- 25:56Speaker 1: com herbs from nest dot com. The CEO A D.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Dolf D. We talked about how you started right l
- 26:05Speaker 1: a name two point three to beat Steve Harve and
- 26:07Speaker 1: I was out there learning how to do radio. And
- 26:11Speaker 1: he talked about when you went over to when you
- 26:14Speaker 1: went over the Cathie used went to her for it,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and then when you got to us, you developed a
- 26:20Speaker 1: shell of how we're gonna market our brand on radio
- 26:24Speaker 1: and you held to that. Now the next big jump.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And we talked about this at the Neighborhood Award. That's
- 26:30Speaker 1: why it's so cool to his talk about doing television
- 26:33Speaker 1: and we were sharing ideas because the great thing about
- 26:37Speaker 1: I like what he said earlier. He gave you guys facts.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And when whenever A D talks to me, he know
- 26:44Speaker 1: I I tell him the truth because I don't like
- 26:48Speaker 1: giving people misleading information, like telling them I pay this
- 26:51Speaker 1: rate and in the rates, really I really paid seven thousands.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I tell people I paid three thousands because it messes
- 26:58Speaker 1: him up. Because you needed I want them to know
- 27:00Speaker 1: real numbers. I want them to know how doing things
- 27:04Speaker 1: right can really drastically affect your business. People need to
- 27:08Speaker 1: hear real numbers, really events, real occurrences, how it really happened,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and that's really important and and that's and that's so.
- 27:16Speaker 1: So when we were sitting down talking about, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 1: ways to expand, just I gotta set number here, how
- 27:22Speaker 1: can I get the most and we started throwing out ideas.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I said, do this, do this whole lot for this.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So tell us about the experience of going on to
- 27:31Speaker 1: Steve Harvey national were talked about the show this in
- 27:34Speaker 1: native percent of the country. Okay, name in the opposent
- 27:37Speaker 1: of the country, a well known mega talent, a global brand,
- 27:41Speaker 1: and Steve Harvey and then you sitting on TV with
- 27:44Speaker 1: him talk about that. Okay, So prior to that, prior,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I just wanted to make sure they get the whole thing.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Prior to that. What happened was when we started doing
- 27:56Speaker 1: when we started sponsoring the Neighborhood Award, it was something
- 28:00Speaker 1: and that happened at that moment, they instead of putting
- 28:04Speaker 1: me amongst the other vendors, they put me on celebrity
- 28:08Speaker 1: role then and my company and my company said, why
- 28:13Speaker 1: why y'all putting us on a celebrity role? They said,
- 28:16Speaker 1: because people because of the interviews they think he's a
- 28:21Speaker 1: part of the show, which was something that just happened organically.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I became a part of the show. So then that's
- 28:28Speaker 1: when I started thinking. I said, okay, and me and
- 28:32Speaker 1: you had that conversation about TV. I said, okay. They
- 28:36Speaker 1: had called me and they said, we got an opportunity
- 28:38Speaker 1: for you to be on TV. I'll take I said,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I said, I'll take it. They said, we need for
- 28:44Speaker 1: you to do this and that I don't know should
- 28:46Speaker 1: I give? No, no, no, don't give. They need to
- 28:48Speaker 1: learn some stuff on their own. That's gonna be in
- 28:51Speaker 1: your book. That's gonna be your book. That's okay, you know,
- 28:57Speaker 1: I know, you know. So they asked me. They they
- 29:00Speaker 1: said they had an opportunity for me to be on TV,
- 29:02Speaker 1: and I told him I'll take it. So I did.
- 29:05Speaker 1: So I did the TV show and let me tell you,
- 29:10Speaker 1: TVs wait, I didn't think TV could beat radio, but
- 29:16Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna tell you the difference. Okay, radio at
- 29:22Speaker 1: the time that you were started, and and we was
- 29:24Speaker 1: in eight markets that's basically in the southeast part of
- 29:27Speaker 1: the country where the Steve Harvey Morning Show has its
- 29:30Speaker 1: dominant president from New York all the way through Dallas, Atlanta,
- 29:34Speaker 1: all the way down to Tampa, all that Memphis, Chicago, Detroit.
- 29:39Speaker 1: So know that that's the part of the country that
- 29:41Speaker 1: you were talking to on radio now TV. I just
- 29:45Speaker 1: said earlier, you're now in ninety five percent of the country,
- 29:48Speaker 1: which means you're in Seattle to Miami, you know, from
- 29:52Speaker 1: Varmont to San Diego as well as middle of America.
- 29:56Speaker 1: That's what you sat down on TV and that's the
- 29:59Speaker 1: experience to tell everybody what happened. Well, okay, so we
- 30:03Speaker 1: did the National Uh, we did the Steve Harvey Show.
- 30:05Speaker 1: We went on there. We talked about a preacher that
- 30:07Speaker 1: we had helped lose a hundred and fifty pounds in
- 30:11Speaker 1: four to five months. Amazing story. He was trying to
- 30:15Speaker 1: lose weight so he could be a candidate for his
- 30:18Speaker 1: what to give his wife a kidney. He wanted to
- 30:20Speaker 1: have the opportunity at least be part of the conversation
- 30:24Speaker 1: to actually be a person that could save her life.
- 30:27Speaker 1: So it was just something huge. We got involved. We
- 30:30Speaker 1: helped he went from um three hundred and fifty three
- 30:35Speaker 1: hundred and fifty something pounds to like two hundreds something pounds.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I can't remember the exact numbers, and sometime ago, so
- 30:42Speaker 1: two hundred and something town, and he actually became a candidate.
- 30:44Speaker 1: He was actually one of the people he could get
- 30:46Speaker 1: his kidney's tested, so he can actually do that for
- 30:49Speaker 1: his wife. But when we did the show, now, I
- 30:52Speaker 1: don't mind giving out these numbers, and um, so when
- 30:56Speaker 1: we did the show, what happened was and I just
- 30:59Speaker 1: like I said, we were literally making twenty dollars a
- 31:02Speaker 1: day already. So when we did to Steve Harvey National
- 31:06Speaker 1: NBC TV Show, we went from that to making over
- 31:10Speaker 1: a hundred something thousand dollars a day, just like that overnight.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And it was like the first day we did over
- 31:21Speaker 1: a hundred and fifty easy. The next day we did
- 31:24Speaker 1: an over a hundred thousands. The next day we did
- 31:28Speaker 1: seventy thousand. So we could really really see the effects.
- 31:34Speaker 1: And this is the beauty of it. So once I
- 31:36Speaker 1: seen that, and I had already had that radio experience,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and I said, guess what they felt like I was
- 31:42Speaker 1: a part of the show. Oh, they ain't seen nothing yet.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I told them, I'll take every TV opportunity that you got.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I want them all, Give them all to me, give
- 31:54Speaker 1: them all to me and just tell me what you
- 31:56Speaker 1: guys need for me to do, I'll do it. So
- 31:59Speaker 1: and and that to what happened. So then and now
- 32:01Speaker 1: check this out. So now, since we're coming on the
- 32:04Speaker 1: Steve Harvey TV Show, you know everyone at least once
- 32:09Speaker 1: a month. I think last year I did over ten episode,
- 32:13Speaker 1: so I don't sabook, but the everything, everything drastically changed
- 32:21Speaker 1: because of that shift, because I said I've seen something,
- 32:24Speaker 1: and I had already had that prior experience in radio,
- 32:27Speaker 1: and so I had already attacked TV. I said, all right,
- 32:30Speaker 1: give them all to me. So and so now we start.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Then I hired a publicists, so now we became the
- 32:37Speaker 1: health coach for the Steve Harvey TV Show. And then
- 32:40Speaker 1: we flipped it. And now we went to all the
- 32:43Speaker 1: other stations. All the other stations started letting us come
- 32:47Speaker 1: on and talk about health and let us talk about clancy.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And now it was crazy. So now I went from
- 32:53Speaker 1: being in the office every day and doing radios at
- 32:57Speaker 1: five in the morning to now being by coastal, flying
- 33:01Speaker 1: over the all over the country, doing doing TV everywhere.
- 33:06Speaker 1: So it's funny how just a few little moves and
- 33:12Speaker 1: and daring to be different can really, really drastically change
- 33:16Speaker 1: your business. But you know, the great thing about you
- 33:19Speaker 1: that I like about j D. First of all, you're
- 33:20Speaker 1: You're a handsome guy. You articulate. All these things are good.
- 33:24Speaker 1: All these things are are pointing in the direction of
- 33:26Speaker 1: why you can make these transitions. Everybody can't just jump
- 33:29Speaker 1: in front of a TV camp. It's gonna be real. Now.
- 33:33Speaker 1: God has blessed you with an opportunity and you're taking
- 33:35Speaker 1: advantage of it. You know. And every time I've talked
- 33:37Speaker 1: to you, you know, you've always been neatly dressed. You
- 33:41Speaker 1: always had a style about you. And I say this
- 33:43Speaker 1: to people because a lot of people don't understand that.
- 33:46Speaker 1: People see all these things and then they teach things
- 33:49Speaker 1: to you based on what they expect from you. You know,
- 33:52Speaker 1: I always expected one from you, a certain culture, a
- 33:56Speaker 1: certain style, and that's why I had to have you
- 33:59Speaker 1: on the show over for two breaks. And here's the
- 34:01Speaker 1: funny part when we can't, and I'm gonna bring you
- 34:03Speaker 1: back to talk about your family because they need to
- 34:06Speaker 1: hear that story. If you don't mind, If you don't mind, problem,
- 34:09Speaker 1: because because because we're just talking about your brand and
- 34:12Speaker 1: your journey and the trick moves that I've been trying
- 34:15Speaker 1: to tell people that we and and and that's why
- 34:18Speaker 1: I'm really making a shift to just letting everybody know.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You gotta go to d Herbs dot com. That's w
- 34:24Speaker 1: W dot d, RBS d and dog Herbs h t
- 34:27Speaker 1: rbs dot com and check him out, check out the product,
- 34:31Speaker 1: check out the testimonials. It is the truth. You don't
- 34:34Speaker 1: sell and do what he does on a regular basis
- 34:37Speaker 1: if you're trying to do trick moves. But man, tell
- 34:40Speaker 1: me I got one minute left with you. I can't
- 34:42Speaker 1: believe we talked for two breaks and with this fact
- 34:45Speaker 1: a d But tell everybody, uh a passing a goodbye
- 34:50Speaker 1: motivational statement, Come on the a d well. I would
- 34:54Speaker 1: say this, look, don't don't follow, don't be, but don't
- 34:59Speaker 1: do the norm. Don't do the norm. They're to be different, man,
- 35:04Speaker 1: start thinking differently, take a few chances, I mean, educated
- 35:07Speaker 1: guests at what you wanna do, and then go for it.
- 35:11Speaker 1: And I'm telling you anybody can be successful at anything.
- 35:15Speaker 1: It's all about being persistent and consistent. That's it. For
- 35:20Speaker 1: being persistent and consistent will change your life. I'm living
- 35:25Speaker 1: testimony of that. That's the one thing I've absolutely learned.
- 35:30Speaker 1: If you're consistent, and you're persistent, you can change your life.
- 35:35Speaker 1: My brother, you will be back on the show. Thank

- 37:36Speaker 1: I'm here. Thank you for having me. First of all,
- 37:39Speaker 1: we're starting it off right. I'm not asking you. Can
- 37:41Speaker 1: you see me? Can you hear me? So we're all
- 37:44Speaker 1: we're already doing it right for the first time. For
- 37:47Speaker 1: the second time in your interview, it was great seeing
- 37:49Speaker 1: you last Friday. Before we get started, You're invited me
- 37:54Speaker 1: to an event on Friday in regards to the the
- 37:58Speaker 1: African American Museum and watch in d C. Tell everybody
- 38:01Speaker 1: a little bit about that, and then we're gonna get
- 38:02Speaker 1: in at your actual a view because I think it's
- 38:04Speaker 1: important because you're invited me and people should be aware
- 38:07Speaker 1: of what's going on in your participation in that tremendous
- 38:10Speaker 1: uh engagement of being an ambassador for the Thank you
- 38:16Speaker 1: so much, thank you for coming, and thank you for
- 38:18Speaker 1: mentioning that the African American Museum of History and Culture
- 38:22Speaker 1: is the first museum that is telling our story sitting
- 38:27Speaker 1: on the National Mall, and it tells the story from
- 38:31Speaker 1: Africa through slavery all the way to now. And it's
- 38:34Speaker 1: definite amazing museum. So if you haven't been, you definitely
- 38:37Speaker 1: want to go. As an ambassador, I get to travel,
- 38:40Speaker 1: we get to host events, and I get to tell
- 38:42Speaker 1: you about the amazing things that's happening there and to
- 38:45Speaker 1: bring aboard more ambassadors who want to contribute money to
- 38:49Speaker 1: continue the legacy. Okay, now why's it important that? Why
- 38:53Speaker 1: is it an important day we contribute money? Because you know,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it's a museum. Shouldn't the governmenty be paying for that?
- 38:58Speaker 1: They built it? Absolutely? Absolutely so. The African American Museum
- 39:02Speaker 1: of Historian Culture is a part of Smithsonian Museum. So
- 39:07Speaker 1: what that means is is free to enter and only
- 39:10Speaker 1: have of this funding comes from the government absolutely, and
- 39:16Speaker 1: the other fifty percent to keep it running and keep
- 39:18Speaker 1: the doors open every single day, Um, that comes from
- 39:21Speaker 1: private donors. And one of my biggest beleas is is
- 39:24Speaker 1: that we should be about us that represents us. Pay
- 39:28Speaker 1: into so many other different things. Why not pay for
- 39:31Speaker 1: something that's gonna represent us and tell the story that's
- 39:34Speaker 1: never told in schools and never get that history. So
- 39:38Speaker 1: that's the reason why I'm a part of it, because
- 39:40Speaker 1: our legacy has to be told, it has to be continued,
- 39:44Speaker 1: and our kids really need to know our true history.
- 39:48Speaker 1: You are a life empowerment coach. Correct, that's it. Why
- 39:55Speaker 1: why One of the things is I always tell people
- 39:59Speaker 1: is to be great, right, and in order to be great,
- 40:02Speaker 1: you have to go for what truly is your calling.
- 40:05Speaker 1: And my calling has always been to inspire people to
- 40:08Speaker 1: live their best life, to get the life that they
- 40:10Speaker 1: truly deserve. And uh, that's how I do. I do
- 40:14Speaker 1: that through life coach, and I do that through programs.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I do that through speaking. UM, I do that by
- 40:18Speaker 1: being on your show today and just telling people that
- 40:20Speaker 1: you don't have to settle for the status quot you
- 40:23Speaker 1: can break all the rules and literally go for the dream.
- 40:26Speaker 1: They got his place inside of you. Okay, cool, since
- 40:28Speaker 1: we since you said that, tell everybody how they can
- 40:31Speaker 1: reach you, how they can contact you. Absolutely. You can
- 40:34Speaker 1: contact me at Melissa at e m g N life
- 40:38Speaker 1: dot com. You can find us on Facebook at Eliza
- 40:42Speaker 1: Marry Global Network UM, and of course you can reach
- 40:46Speaker 1: us on the internet at our website at www dot
- 40:50Speaker 1: e m g N life dot com. Okay cool. Now
- 40:53Speaker 1: here's the here's the beauty of talking to a person
- 40:56Speaker 1: like you, because first of all, you know you're you're
- 40:58Speaker 1: doing what you want to do in life, and you're
- 41:00Speaker 1: getting paid to do it. That's the beauty. That's I
- 41:03Speaker 1: think that's the goal of everybody in life, because a
- 41:06Speaker 1: lot of people are doing jobs and making money and
- 41:08Speaker 1: they don't like getting up in the morning, they don't
- 41:11Speaker 1: like the people sitting next to them, they don't like
- 41:13Speaker 1: the traffic that they're sitting in when they go to
- 41:16Speaker 1: work or come back from work. With with all these
- 41:19Speaker 1: what stops people from changing their life. And obviously I
- 41:23Speaker 1: know you sent me some questions, but I gotta ask
- 41:26Speaker 1: some personal generic questions like this because they have afford me.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Because people need to know that basically, you're stopping yourself.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Correct absolutely, absolutely, And I would say one of the
- 41:37Speaker 1: biggest things that stopped us is our excuses. So, um,
- 41:41Speaker 1: you know, when I tell people to live your dream,
- 41:44Speaker 1: especially starting out, it's not gonna always be easy. It's
- 41:47Speaker 1: a decision. So one of the things that I was
- 41:49Speaker 1: a teenage mom. I had my daughter when I was nineteen,
- 41:52Speaker 1: and one of the decisions I meant was not to
- 41:54Speaker 1: quit my dream of going to school. Even though my
- 41:56Speaker 1: grandmother said, hey, you have a daughter, now you need
- 41:58Speaker 1: to focus on something else. I realized that in order
- 42:02Speaker 1: to do what I need to do, I needed a
- 42:03Speaker 1: college education. So I kept my friend's kids at night
- 42:07Speaker 1: and they watched my daughter during the day. Like I
- 42:10Speaker 1: figured out how to make it work right, So I
- 42:12Speaker 1: allowed my could have been excused to be my reason.
- 42:16Speaker 1: My daughter now is going to her senior year in college.
- 42:19Speaker 1: She's a producer at the radio station, she has her
- 42:21Speaker 1: own clothing line. She has learned from me not to
- 42:25Speaker 1: let your excuses be it's the reason why you don't
- 42:28Speaker 1: s see, but be the reasons why you shouldn't see.
- 42:30Speaker 1: So that's what I tell people. Whatever your excuse is,
- 42:33Speaker 1: we all have you know, illness, uh, the boor whatever
- 42:37Speaker 1: it may be. We all have them. But allowed that
- 42:39Speaker 1: to be the thing that fused you to go for
- 42:41Speaker 1: your drinks because and I think that one thing I
- 42:43Speaker 1: noticed you're willing to expose yourself, because I remember when
- 42:47Speaker 1: you got up and spoke at the at the event
- 42:50Speaker 1: on Friday for the African American Museum, is that you
- 42:53Speaker 1: told everybody, I'm a single mall. You know. I think
- 42:56Speaker 1: that's important that you wanted to tell people how to
- 42:59Speaker 1: be successful. You have to be willing to share because
- 43:02Speaker 1: certain things people consider flaws, and you want what people
- 43:06Speaker 1: may consider flaws, you know, like damaged goods or things
- 43:10Speaker 1: like that stop you. And when you said that, that's interesting.
- 43:14Speaker 1: But as I said, it's interesting not because I've never
- 43:17Speaker 1: heard that before. I said it was interesting because of
- 43:20Speaker 1: the fact that it's important when you're asking people to
- 43:22Speaker 1: do something for you, when you're asking for money, you
- 43:26Speaker 1: have to tell them your story, and you have to
- 43:28Speaker 1: also turn around and say the word sacrifice, and you
- 43:32Speaker 1: use all those in the process. And that's what stops
- 43:35Speaker 1: a lot of people is that they're not willing to
- 43:37Speaker 1: be honest with what they want to do in life.
- 43:39Speaker 1: They're not being honest about the effort that they want
- 43:42Speaker 1: to put out in life, and they don't want to
- 43:44Speaker 1: make sacrifices. What you said in the beginning of basically excuses, right, absolutely,
- 43:50Speaker 1: we all have them. And if you're going to be great,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and I say be great, meaning that we all have
- 43:55Speaker 1: these gifts inside of us, you have to be able
- 43:58Speaker 1: to dedicate at least of your time to that thing, right,
- 44:03Speaker 1: And so in order to do that, when you get
- 44:05Speaker 1: up in the morning, like I got up this morning,
- 44:07Speaker 1: it's raining here, and my kids said, like my oldest
- 44:10Speaker 1: she's she came home yesterday and she says, mon, where
- 44:13Speaker 1: are you going? You know it's a storm, right, I said, yeah,
- 44:19Speaker 1: it's a storm. But again, I already decided that today
- 44:22Speaker 1: I was coming. I was working on the book, and
- 44:24Speaker 1: I was gonna get that done. So its orders to
- 44:26Speaker 1: be great, you have to do what you say you're
- 44:29Speaker 1: gonna do, and you have to do that consistently, no
- 44:32Speaker 1: matter what's going on around you. Now, with that being said,
- 44:36Speaker 1: what frustrates you? And I want I want my viewers
- 44:39Speaker 1: on Facebook at Rashaan McDonald dot com, my listeners on
- 44:43Speaker 1: four in Houston if you download the app. What frustrates
- 44:47Speaker 1: you too. You know, you consider out with a person
- 44:49Speaker 1: they hire you, our company hires you, what is the
- 44:53Speaker 1: number one rule that they break immediately? That just just
- 44:56Speaker 1: pos you. Um. I would say with people that I've
- 45:03Speaker 1: brought in is that they don't they they present themselves
- 45:07Speaker 1: one way, did they change? So however you come to
- 45:10Speaker 1: that company, however you come to your job. However you
- 45:12Speaker 1: come to your clients being the very best, and do
- 45:15Speaker 1: that consistently. You know. Another thing is people don't put
- 45:19Speaker 1: blinders on. We're so busy looking at what other people
- 45:21Speaker 1: are doing, especially like when I'm working with small business owners.
- 45:24Speaker 1: It's very easy for someone to say, hey, this person
- 45:27Speaker 1: has five d tho followers and I only have ten thousand,
- 45:30Speaker 1: or this person has ten thousand and I only have
- 45:33Speaker 1: to focus on what God has given. You. Don't look
- 45:37Speaker 1: around when you're Yeah, when you're looking around, you you don't.
- 45:41Speaker 1: You're not consistent to what you're called to do. So
- 45:43Speaker 1: the hours that you've s been thinking about Susie or
- 45:46Speaker 1: Joe Bro, you're not doing what you need to do.
- 45:48Speaker 1: The person who stays the course, when that's just it.
- 45:52Speaker 1: You win if you stay the course. That is so
- 45:55Speaker 1: true and I have to say that because a lot
- 45:58Speaker 1: of people, a lot of people want to look at
- 46:00Speaker 1: the car that somebody drives, or the house when somebody
- 46:04Speaker 1: lives in, or the tip they leave on the table.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Don't worry about that. That at your code, then at
- 46:10Speaker 1: your house, that at your tip. Stay in your lane,
- 46:13Speaker 1: and be consistent, like you said, be consistent with the
- 46:16Speaker 1: plan that you're trying to develop. And that's really what
- 46:18Speaker 1: we're talking about. And then what and that's really what
- 46:21Speaker 1: you say, And that's what I was just saying, is
- 46:23Speaker 1: that that's why when you invited me. I remember I
- 46:26Speaker 1: called just I made it into Atlanta because they the
- 46:28Speaker 1: flights will open and allowed me to fly out of Houston,
- 46:31Speaker 1: and I called you and I said, can I still come?
- 46:34Speaker 1: And because I came there for the experience, because that's
- 46:38Speaker 1: how you gain information, That's how you don't don't don't
- 46:41Speaker 1: don't just bother yourself into your world of information. It's
- 46:44Speaker 1: so much more information out there you can gather by
- 46:47Speaker 1: going to events, create new relationships, and expose yourself the
- 46:51Speaker 1: information that you would normally have if you didn't go
- 46:53Speaker 1: through the experience. Correct. Absolutely, And I just appreciate you
- 46:58Speaker 1: for coming. I think that's another point that you you
- 47:01Speaker 1: brought stepping outside your conference zone. You know, I know
- 47:05Speaker 1: you used to just be you know, with celebrities for
- 47:07Speaker 1: ducers and all the truth. I'm used to that, yeah,
- 47:15Speaker 1: because and all of these different things, UH fundraises with Obama.
- 47:20Speaker 1: But you said, hey, um, this young lady is doing
- 47:22Speaker 1: this and I want to support her and I and
- 47:25Speaker 1: you did that, and I so appreciate that you got
- 47:28Speaker 1: to step outside your conference zone as entrepreneur, and you
- 47:31Speaker 1: have to do things that you wouldn't normally or typically
- 47:35Speaker 1: do to make it because you never know where your
- 47:37Speaker 1: next opportunity is going to come. I always tell people
- 47:40Speaker 1: that you never know what relationship that you're gonna build,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and that relationship is going to be the thing that
- 47:45Speaker 1: catapults you into what you're always supposed to do. Okay,
- 47:48Speaker 1: but listen, tell about some of your upcoming agendas that
- 47:51Speaker 1: you have coming up so we can follow you. Absolutely.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So the radio show is starting um and we're gonna
- 47:58Speaker 1: be working and talking to entrepreneur works on all sorts
- 48:01Speaker 1: of businesses. That launch is on September the sn It'll
- 48:04Speaker 1: be on wed SDACE on Theliza Mary Global Network page
- 48:08Speaker 1: and also you can find it on stream at e
- 48:11Speaker 1: m g N Radio dot com. Awesome, but listen, you know,
- 48:17Speaker 1: can you be a regular on my show? Can you
- 48:18Speaker 1: do that for me? Absolutely? You're my life coach is strong.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I can't bring no more than life coach on the show.
- 48:24Speaker 1: But you know, so I might get a male, but female.
- 48:27Speaker 1: You got it on lock Is they good? That's good?
- 48:30Speaker 1: You know I have that on my board. Tell everybody
- 48:33Speaker 1: how to reach you on that website here, yes, uh
- 48:36Speaker 1: www dot Melissa Alava dot com, pash teg Rashan and Melissa,
- 48:41Speaker 1: you're about to do this. There you go, girl, and
- 48:43Speaker 1: you stay strong. I appreciate you inviting me. I appreciate you.
- 48:48Speaker 1: You know. The great thing about what I'm doing with
- 48:50Speaker 1: this show is that cultivating relationships and hopefully I'm building spirit.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I'm building spirit that you can do with spirit. Spirit said, Hey,
- 48:58Speaker 1: let you know that there are people out there that
- 49:00Speaker 1: are willing to help you put that next step on
- 49:02Speaker 1: that ladder because you could only go up if you
- 49:05Speaker 1: step forward. And that's all this money making conversations about Melissa.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I feel blessed to have you on the show. Thank you,
- 49:12Speaker 1: and guess what keep me posted? Girl? Okay, yeah, we'll
- 49:15Speaker 1: be back, Bye bye, coming back. The girl from DC.
- 49:22Speaker 1: This this girl you cannot miss. She's incredible. Laura Foods,
- 49:27Speaker 1: She's coming up. She's incredible, She's incredible. I'm back. I'm back.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation is live. Two weeks we were on vacation,
- 49:44Speaker 1: one because of the Hurricane Harvey, two because of Labor Day.
- 49:49Speaker 1: But you know you gotta rebuild that movementum. You know
- 49:51Speaker 1: people you drop off the scene and they go, he
- 49:54Speaker 1: is he all I hear is repeat. I didn't heard
- 49:56Speaker 1: that paddler bear any of you before. I didn't heard
- 49:59Speaker 1: that eight and a a half away. She talked about promoting
- 50:02Speaker 1: dates and may in the interview in September. That don't
- 50:06Speaker 1: make no sense, Rishan. I thought you were here for us.
- 50:09Speaker 1: You ain't even live no more. This is a bunch
- 50:12Speaker 1: of crap. I'm not gonna listen no more. Guesse, what
- 50:16Speaker 1: building momentum? I ain't going nowhere. I'm back, I'm back out.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Money to Make Conversation is live again. My next guest,
- 50:25Speaker 1: I'm mad at her. I'm gonna just tell her right
- 50:27Speaker 1: now and shear the cane show the phone. Okay, I'm
- 50:30Speaker 1: gonna just let her know right now Cheers was supposed
- 50:32Speaker 1: to be in studio with me. She promised me on
- 50:35Speaker 1: separ Timuty and lovel Rashan McDonald, I'm coming down to Houston,
- 50:39Speaker 1: Texas to do two breaks with you because I'm gonna
- 50:43Speaker 1: tell you just the third time she's been on my show, Everybody,
- 50:46Speaker 1: the third time. I always started this showing may that's
- 50:50Speaker 1: how talented that she is. I'm gonna tell you somethingbody,
- 50:53Speaker 1: My next guest is one of my all time favorite.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Her speaking topics include finances, taxes, business startup, death care,
- 51:05Speaker 1: co parenting, divorce, and living a big life. Please welcome
- 51:10Speaker 1: the money making Conversations from the DC area. Laura Food. Hello, Hello,
- 51:18Speaker 1: Hell Laura, my girl doing. I'm doing great and I
- 51:24Speaker 1: certainly wish I was there, but as as as you know,
- 51:28Speaker 1: as I was explaining, because of Hurricane Harvey, my corporate
- 51:32Speaker 1: office is under nine feet of water and not effected
- 51:36Speaker 1: to be back in our offices until probably November. So
- 51:40Speaker 1: unfortunately they canceled UM the conference, so I was not
- 51:44Speaker 1: able to come. So thank you for still having me
- 51:47Speaker 1: on the phone, because I always love UM to call
- 51:49Speaker 1: in and talk with you and always have a great
- 51:51Speaker 1: time with you guys. Absolutely uh Laura. First of all,
- 51:57Speaker 1: you're very, very talented. Let's go and get that out
- 51:59Speaker 1: the way. Much this is this is the reason she's
- 52:04Speaker 1: on my show. First of all, she's challenged, she's small,
- 52:07Speaker 1: and she can talk. A lot of people understand that
- 52:09Speaker 1: that that third one I said, she can talk. You know,
- 52:13Speaker 1: this is the type of person that you know, I
- 52:15Speaker 1: have no problem during two breaks with her. You know,
- 52:18Speaker 1: I just shut it down, let her just start talking.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Probably just talk to myself. I know you got to
- 52:23Speaker 1: steal set for that. But I brought you on the
- 52:26Speaker 1: show because of the fact that of all the people
- 52:29Speaker 1: that I can bring on the show. And when we
- 52:31Speaker 1: got to start doing Q and age with you, how
- 52:33Speaker 1: people call in if you don't mind, because because you
- 52:37Speaker 1: you you're all an expert. You you're and you're confident
- 52:40Speaker 1: enough to know if you don't know, you're gonna find
- 52:42Speaker 1: out an answer. And so when you send me a
- 52:44Speaker 1: resume and you have all these speaking topics, and let's
- 52:47Speaker 1: let's briefly just briefly say when I when I what
- 52:51Speaker 1: do you know about finances? When I'm just gonna throw
- 52:53Speaker 1: it out like that, and you just give me a
- 52:55Speaker 1: quick synopsis so people get a sense of who you
- 52:57Speaker 1: are and your brain. Okay, uh, well, well, and I
- 53:02Speaker 1: started my career very very young, and fortunately so I
- 53:07Speaker 1: do have a background and accounting background which I have
- 53:11Speaker 1: used all the time. I knew when I wanted to
- 53:13Speaker 1: start business that I could go to school and get
- 53:15Speaker 1: a degree in accounting because any business or anything that
- 53:18Speaker 1: you're passionate about, someone has to handle the money and
- 53:21Speaker 1: the finances. That's the backbone of any business in any area. UM.
- 53:26Speaker 1: So I did go to school for accounting. Then, as
- 53:28Speaker 1: I said, I did start my corporate career when I
- 53:31Speaker 1: was eighteen now forty one, so I've been in that
- 53:34Speaker 1: corporate career for twenty two years. I'm a business finance manager,
- 53:38Speaker 1: so I oversee forty two locations in the Washington Baltimore,
- 53:43Speaker 1: Virginia area. Um as well as you know, my corporation
- 53:46Speaker 1: is enter you know, an international company, as well as
- 53:49Speaker 1: then the finance. Um as I got more and more
- 53:53Speaker 1: into finance that I grew to have a passion for taxes.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Don't you just don't jump a lane. I gotta set
- 54:01Speaker 1: you up. I told you talk too much, but you
- 54:04Speaker 1: talented though. Okay, now now here's my next question. What
- 54:08Speaker 1: do you know about taxes well. In taxes, I mean,
- 54:11Speaker 1: of course, you can look up my name, Laura Foods.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I'm on the I R S website, so I'm a
- 54:16Speaker 1: licensed tax preparer. I can do taxes UM in all
- 54:20Speaker 1: the states. We I do personal taxes, I can do
- 54:22Speaker 1: small business taxes UM. And I just thought it was
- 54:25Speaker 1: important and now I'm even getting more into educating people.
- 54:29Speaker 1: A lot of people know me for doing on my
- 54:31Speaker 1: Facebook page tax tip Tuesdays, because I found in taxes
- 54:35Speaker 1: people really don't have to understand taxes. They just go
- 54:38Speaker 1: to somebody and do it, but do not understand why
- 54:41Speaker 1: do I owe or why do I get a refund?
- 54:43Speaker 1: So that's how I've gotten so passionate about taxes UM
- 54:47Speaker 1: because people just don't seem to understand it. And a
- 54:49Speaker 1: lot of preparers don't educate their clients. Now, hopefully my
- 54:52Speaker 1: clients I don't provide them too much education and they
- 54:55Speaker 1: leave me and start going to do their own UM.
- 54:57Speaker 1: But I want my clients to be educated, you know,
- 55:00Speaker 1: and I want to and I prepare them all year long,
- 55:02Speaker 1: Like I don't want to just interact with them at
- 55:04Speaker 1: tax time. We want to interact all year long. And
- 55:06Speaker 1: that's what my tax tip Tuesdays are about. But next question,
- 55:10Speaker 1: what do you know about business startup? Oh my god,
- 55:14Speaker 1: don't do it now? Well, like I said, and most
- 55:19Speaker 1: of us know of Salon Couture for the Neighborhood Awards.
- 55:23Speaker 1: We were very fortunate to be recognized by d C
- 55:26Speaker 1: and then across the country four times for best Mail
- 55:29Speaker 1: Salon and then one time for best Beauty Salon in
- 55:32Speaker 1: the country. Um. And that's because, like I said, we
- 55:35Speaker 1: were four young women that had a dream. Of course,
- 55:37Speaker 1: now you can't have a dream, but you do have
- 55:39Speaker 1: to have some cash saved. Um. And we went from
- 55:43Speaker 1: you know, we have a brick and mortar business. This
- 55:45Speaker 1: is not just an online business. So I think that
- 55:48Speaker 1: those are two completely different things. You know, when you
- 55:51Speaker 1: were a brick and mortar business. There is a lot
- 55:53Speaker 1: that goes into starting a brick and mortar business. I
- 55:56Speaker 1: probably know more than I ever wanted to know. A
- 56:00Speaker 1: out d t us and a heavy up for the
- 56:02Speaker 1: electrical panel box and the plumbing, you know all of
- 56:05Speaker 1: those things. Um. But so yes, And this year in
- 56:08Speaker 1: October we are celebrating ten years um that clon CoA
- 56:13Speaker 1: tour has been opened. And then in this past October.
- 56:16Speaker 1: We just opened a beauty supply store, which is right, yes, yes,
- 56:24Speaker 1: and then my tax office is two doors down from that,
- 56:27Speaker 1: so I'm just taking over the shopping center. Nothing wrong
- 56:30Speaker 1: with that. Nothing wrong with that. Told you have a
- 56:31Speaker 1: big personality, So I pretty much one day it's just
- 56:34Speaker 1: gonna be a bill board above. Now what do you know?
- 56:39Speaker 1: That would be nice? Let's go the next topic. What
- 56:41Speaker 1: do you know about death care? Um? Well, my corporate career,
- 56:45Speaker 1: which a lot of people don't know because it is
- 56:47Speaker 1: a corporate thing, so I don't talk a lot about it.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Or now I am going to begin to talk more
- 56:52Speaker 1: about it on social media just from doing your show.
- 56:55Speaker 1: We've talked about it and other people asking about it. UM.
- 56:58Speaker 1: But very passionate about this business as well because it
- 57:02Speaker 1: impacts a lot of families financially, UH and the death
- 57:05Speaker 1: care industry. What I what I do is we talk
- 57:10Speaker 1: to families about pre arranging so that we don't have
- 57:13Speaker 1: go fund mese everywhere, excuse me. And it's just educating
- 57:18Speaker 1: families that they are able to take care of these
- 57:21Speaker 1: arrangements ahead of time, and then we educate them about
- 57:24Speaker 1: how they're able to do that. So I do know.
- 57:26Speaker 1: And like I said, and I've been in that industry
- 57:28Speaker 1: for twenty two years so have a lot of knowledge
- 57:31Speaker 1: on the death care industry. Unfortunately, what do you know
- 57:35Speaker 1: about co parenting? Well that now that that could be
- 57:40Speaker 1: a whole that could be a whole show right there. Um.
- 57:43Speaker 1: But most of the people in the d m V market,
- 57:45Speaker 1: or if you follow me on social media, know that said.
- 57:47Speaker 1: The kid is my reason, she's my why, she is
- 57:51Speaker 1: my everything. Um. I became a you know, a mother
- 57:54Speaker 1: at a very young age, and we thought we were
- 57:56Speaker 1: doing it the right way. Um. And I did get
- 57:59Speaker 1: married when I was twenty two. And unfortunately, when you're
- 58:03Speaker 1: young and you don't know any better than you know,
- 58:05Speaker 1: sometimes that doesn't always work out. Um. But what what
- 58:09Speaker 1: I do try to teach people as far and anyone
- 58:12Speaker 1: that I can talk to as far as co parenting,
- 58:14Speaker 1: you know, is I love my daughter more than anything
- 58:17Speaker 1: or anyone, and and her relationship with her father is
- 58:21Speaker 1: very important to me. So we do not we don't argue.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And of course it's never enough money involved. You know.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I would like to have more money coming in or
- 58:30Speaker 1: more child support and all of those things. But my
- 58:32Speaker 1: key focus has always been on her. So, yes, we
- 58:35Speaker 1: do still do Christmas Is together, we do the birthdays together.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I'm very good friends with his you know, when he
- 58:42Speaker 1: got remarried and his fiance, I'm very good friends with
- 58:45Speaker 1: them because we have to raise our children together. And
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think that you learn to put your feelings aside
- 58:51Speaker 1: or your emotions aside for the best interests of your children. UM.
- 58:55Speaker 1: So that's why I do talk to people about how
- 58:57Speaker 1: do we do this the right way so that our
- 59:00Speaker 1: wildren are a good and a good environment and healthy environment.
- 59:03Speaker 1: They're allowed to love both parents. Um, and even when
- 59:06Speaker 1: they get remarried, you're allowed to love those parents as well. Okay, cool.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Now there are two more topics I want to bring
- 59:12Speaker 1: up because I want to bring them up because I
- 59:15Speaker 1: want to be able to in the second break, because
- 59:18Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about your brand, because
- 59:21Speaker 1: I think that you're you're such an an exceptional talent.
- 59:27Speaker 1: And I gotta say this right now. If you can
- 59:29Speaker 1: see me, you would see I'm blushing right now. That's
- 59:31Speaker 1: just good because I'm too dark to blush. Okay, they
- 59:33Speaker 1: just just just see me, grant, because see the thing
- 59:37Speaker 1: about it is that is that I brought you on
- 59:40Speaker 1: the show because people go where you keep bring. I
- 59:42Speaker 1: need people understand who you are, and then I want
- 59:44Speaker 1: to I want you to understand who you are because
- 59:46Speaker 1: you right now don't know who you are because the
- 59:49Speaker 1: fact that you know you throught all these ideas because
- 59:51Speaker 1: you truly are a life coach. What I'm saying, because
- 59:55Speaker 1: you have the because you have the experience and the
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: the technical savvy to be able to communicate from the
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: start to the finish. You understand what I'm saying. You
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: know you can raise them and you can bury them.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: You know you can. You can, you can. That's very
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: important in that process. And you can tell people how
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: to gain their wealth, how to recover their wealth, how
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: to come from bankruptcy to success. All that's very important.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: And I feel and I'm not saying, you know, and
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: when I get in these little zones like that, people
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: all say, is he about to manage her? I'm not
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: saying that. I'm just saying this is that is that
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: me and you and the relationship that we're developing is
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: going to be powerful because disguise are the limit limit. Laura,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: with you, and you need to understand that anybody I
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: talked to, anybody I talked to on the regular basis.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: It's really funny because because I used to see you
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: at the Neighborhood Awards, and it's funny I never spoke
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: to her at the neighbor Of Awards. I would see
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: her because I'm always running around that producing the show.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: She just she'd be standing there and or she gonna
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: stage and get the award for winning best nel salang.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: She walk off. Take pictures with her and her her fellow.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: You know, co workers, she said, are partners, business partners,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: co workers, and they're getting mad. We're working for you now.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: You know people people turn on your fast and we
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: don't employee. But I just want to let you know
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: that we're gonna talk on the next break and if
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: anybody wants to call in and talk to Lord, you
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: know what she can talk about or talk to me.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Eight three two two three zero five five nine two.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: That's a three two two three zero five five nine two. Again,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you're listening to money making conversation. If you have a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: problem in your life, if you want to if you're
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: tie the people telling you what you cannot do, and
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you want to talk to somebody who will tell you
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you can do anything. You want to life, Stop listening
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: to ignorant people. Get out of that boat, learn how
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: to swim. Guess what if you step out that boat,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: the water may not be that deep. They told you
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: a ten feet it was on the two feet. Don't
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: follow the lies. Sell yourself on the truth. I'll be
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: back with more money making conversations. My girl, I'm gonna saying,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: my girl from d C Laura Foods, she'd like coach
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: y'all a three two three zero five five not to
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: money making conversations. Call us. This is the Sean McDonald.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: You're listening to money making conversations on my Facebook page,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: our Heart Radio podcasts as well as k l v
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: L fourteen in Houston, Markham I called out for a
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: phone call. Laura. How you doing, I'm doing great, Thank you,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: thank you. I wish I was there in the studio
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: they do. Don't give me that. I don't hear none
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: of that lauda because I'm glad you're not here, because
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I probably couldn't push you out the show. You know
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Yeah, I was gonna say if I
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: come live like I need the whole two hours. You
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, he'd be embarrassing because you know,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I be going on a fighting She won't leave because
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: you you you you know to be a successful as
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: you are and do all the things that you've done,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: You're stubborn, So I know it's gonna be a battle
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: to get you out to say I wouna be staying
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: for the whole too. Well, I gotta call in from
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the d C area. Uh, Sassy, are you on the line? Sassy?
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Are you on the line? I am here. How y'all doing? Hey, Sassy,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you have a phone call or you you called in
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: and have a question for Laura? I do, Sassie, how
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: are you? Thank you for calling in? Good? Good, good.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Lord's on my favorite people on the planet, and I
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: am the blessed to have some inside and knowledge UM
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: that I want her to share with all of your
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: other listeners. So my question for you, Laura, that I
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: hope you can um it gives them kind of inside
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: the information is how do you overcome the fear of
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: failure that's associated with starting and successfully operating your own businesses? Um? Okay,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: So good question. Overcoming the fear of failure? Well, I
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: think when you are are UM, when you first determine
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: your why, which for me my wife of course, was
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: being a young single mother and having a child to
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: take care of. That I took on as a huge
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: responsibility and just like anything else, just like with business,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I had to make her successful and I had to
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: make her the best baby ever. Um So I think
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: once you take, once you determine what your why is.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: And then I found out early on my purpose, I
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: know is to share my information and educate people about finances,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: whether it's personal finances, business finances. Then yet, um, have
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: some of the things that I've tried not worked. Have
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I had some events where nobody shows up and there's
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: two people in the room, or then you go to
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: other events where there's a hundred people in the room
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: or there's six hundred people in the room. Um, But
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I think it is knowing that you have a purpose
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: and I have a why, and so failure is not
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: an option or like if you all watch my social
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: media pages and I post my morning motivation every day,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: it is just what they say. I don't necessarily take
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: it as a failure. It is then talking to people
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: and asking questions of okay, so what do I need
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: to do? How do I make this better? How can
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: it be better the next time? Because, as I said,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: my child school tuition has to be paid, so failing
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: is not even an option. Um. But I do think
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: one of the key things is I do try to
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: make sure that I keep my core circle close and
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: that I have good, motivating, empowering people around me who
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: they keep me motivated because of course I have off
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: seasons and I have bad days or you know, or
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: even seasons where Okay, I'm done with this. Can I
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: just work my nine to five and I don't want
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: to do anything else anymore. Um. But when you have
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: an empowering circle around you, um, they keep you going
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: and they keep reminding you of your why. Um. So
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: I think that, like you said, so that kind of
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: sounds cliche, failure isn't an option. But once you know
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: your why and your purpose, then I don't necessarily think
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: you're failing. It's you know, getting it right or making
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: it better. Yes, let me add Let me add to that, Sassy.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: On top of what the wonderful information you've just gotten
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: from Laara is that a lot of people, you know,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: they don't plan and they because it's so hard. The
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: number one mistake that most people making small businesses, they
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: don't have a business plan. They have a great idea,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: but they don't have a business plan. And they look
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: at ten dollars. If they charged ten dollars for a hamburger,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: they don't realize that, you know, you gotta pay for
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: taxes on that hamburger, you gotta pay for the lettuce.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: To me, they don't realize that you might be walking
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: away with three dollars. And so that's where the planning
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: part comes into it, and also the consistency, and also
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: make sure if you're going into business with everybody, with
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: other people, you all have the same values. And I'm
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: gonna just go I'm gonna slow that down. I'm gonna
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: slow that down because you can't make up another person
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: be like you. You have to accept them for who
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: they are and then in their strengths. Okay, I can
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: just shure you all the partners in Salon Couture are
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: not alight, you know, because I can't nobody out talk Lord.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: They all they all know that. They all know that,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: they all know that, but each one of them have
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: a tremendous strength and to what the number one mistakes
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: people make. It's like they'll say, well, I'm here twenty
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: four hours a day. What that's you If you decided
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: to be at your job or this company twenty four
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: hours a day, don't try to make other people do that. Now,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: if you're gonna get in business, know the person that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you're getting in business with, so that way you you
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: won't be blindsided or not. If they're doing something down
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: the line that makes you upset, that's the number that's
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: one of the number one problems. It's the same thing
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: with your kids, with your wife or whoever you're dating.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Do not try to force these people into your lifestyle.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: You volunteer for this. You you decided to leave IBM
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: and go on the road and tell jokes. I can
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: drag my mama out there. My mama name want me.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: My mom was happy with me being that IBM so
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I could guard my mama wind And hey, these folks
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: ain't laughing in Kentucky, these folks they booed me off
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the stage. In Virginia on the fifteen people showed up.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: I don't think this man is gonna pay me. In Mississippi,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: they didn't ask for that. And so what it happens
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: is a lot of people they try to put their
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: burden of their decision on other people. Guess what happens
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: when you do that, Your your crowd and supports shrinks.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: It's shrinks, and so when it shrinks, guess what all
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: people see you as bad news? Are you begging for something?
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Are you complaining about something? Here's the number one thing
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: when you are a leader. You cannot have bad days.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: When you are a leader, you cannot cry in public.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: When you are a leader, you have to let everybody
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: know that the bullet you just shot, that you just
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: got shot with, you're gonna keep on walking and you're
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: gonna keep on walking because what you made the decision
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: to leave people up that hill and back down that
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: hill to victory. And that is really key. And what
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I'm saying to anybody who's listening, and especially to you know,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: and I know Laura's hearing me, She's gonna, yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: I agree with everything he's saying, because guess what their days.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I would tell people I have had tears in my
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: eyes because I didn't want to get up. They have days.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: There are days when I didn't I wanted to call somebody,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: but I couldn't call them because I couldn't show that
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: sign of weakness because they believed in me. So I
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: had to do my research. I had to have relationships.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: There are people, they're CEOs, their presidents of companies, they're
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: famous athletes, they're famous actors who called me for advice.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Now what if I decided to tell everybody I'm stupid,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I'm I don't know a darn thing you think they
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: keep calling me because guess what, I'll have have shown
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: a sign of weakness because that is not my brand.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: My brand is a brand of success. And if you
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: called me, I will make you succe. That's for And
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: that's really what this is all about. This is all
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: what money making conversations is about. And that's why in
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: the first half of this interview, I wanted to make
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: sure people understood why I was talking to Laura. And
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I need Laura to understand who she is. See, see
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: what happens with talented people. They tend to only they
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: tend to. They tend to kind of like keep their abilities,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you know, a very tight circle and only a few
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: people know about they're listed out, but they don't really
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: understand what they've listed out. And so I just wanted
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: her for the first time, maybe maybe for the first time,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: for her to hear herself talk about herself, so she
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: can take in the information that she's has because you know,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: you can go said, you know, I can, I can
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: shoot them, I can. You know, look at Lebron James.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Lebron James a class example. He has game show on,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: he has a TV show on, he has foundations, he
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: plays basketball. You know, he's an entrepreneur, he has a
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: sporting agent. See that's all I'm saying. He's embraced his
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: ability to make money. Now when I look at Laura,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: when I look at her, she's she's feeling information. Now
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: when we hang up this phone, she don't have a
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: different conversation about herself. And I hope you do because
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: you are a an enterprise young lady, and it's it's
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: enough of people telling you how talented you are. It's
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: time for you to really look at your website and
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: say who am I and started watching yourself. And once
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: you find out who you are, then your bread will explode.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Does that makes this Laura, because right now, listen to me. Now, Finances,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: you didn't stumble when you talked about that, Taxes, you
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: didn't stumble when you talked about that business startup. You
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: didn't stumble. When you talked about that death care. You
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: didn't stumble when you talked about that co parenting. You
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: didn't stumble when you talked about that divorce. You wouldn't
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: stumble when you talk about that living a big life.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: You will not stumble when you talk about that. You
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: know why you won't stumble, because that's what you do, Laura. Okay,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: that's what you do. It's time when you hang up
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: this phone with me today, it's time for you to
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: make note of what I'm saying to you today. You
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: are bigger than what you are. Not saying that you
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: hunt don't have a perception of who you are. But
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: I'm just letting you know. I've been around a lot
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: of famous people, a lot of great people called me
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: and my wife go who just called you, don't worry
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: bout don't worry about don't worry about this, all right?
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: They called me to And I'm letting you know this.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Your ability now is to build your brand out. That's
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: why I had a d dolphin on the radio earlier. Today.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I'm going to more and more people like you because
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I think I'll reach more people like you with your
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: story to let them know that every day and ain't
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: who you stopping for a selfie who's walking by you
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: that you need to be stopping. They're gonna make you great, Laura,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: your special thank you. I was gonna say, I thought
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: we were called it for questions or was this like
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: my morning motivational speech to me? I appreciate that absolutely, absolutely,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: on time. Absolutely because you know what, because just the
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: next level for your life, that's all I'm just saying
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: this to you. You're about to go to the next
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: level in life. And and that's why when I started
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: money making conversation May first and here in Houston, Texas,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: took it off my Facebook page and I and I
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: on a leap of faith, but with a plan and
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: people like you, people I didn't even speak to, not
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: because I would route person. It's just that I didn't
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: understand my purpose in life at the time when I
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: was walking past you or you were standing over there.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Are you walking off the stage of a show that
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: I created every year to uplive small businesses and people
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: in the community. It'll be back, don't work good. Here's
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: the beauty of life with me and you? Is that
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: is that. I already know you're gonna be back on
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: my show just one more time a fall. Definitely. We're
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: gonna do a tax thing in the spring. Okay, we're
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: gonna build that brand out, but more importantly, start figuring
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: out who you are, Laura. I will give yoursell number,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: email address, whatever you do. I want you to your start,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: young lad, a year of Laura. Now. If you if
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: you blush and ther, you should be be beat red
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: right now. Okay, yes, my friend, I'm glad this time.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: So y'all can't see my place right now, big tim,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: I'm just letting everybody know this is a call I
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: could be talking to you, and I want you to
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: start calling me. Y'all. I want you to start understanding
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: that this show has been built in place for people
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: to know that they can be great, that they can.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Let let let me shine hear your story, let me
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: let me understand why you why why are you not
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: making it to the next level? Laura? I took two
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: breaks with you so much. This is this, This has
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: been the Lara Fews hour. You know, if you didn't
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: know who she is, now you know who she is? Right.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Sassy, Thank you for calling it
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: from the DC area. She's a fan girl. Yes, I
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: will talk to you. Thank you so much. A big timer.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: This money Made Conversations. This ra Sean McDonald's your host
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: every Monday. I'm on a hot heart radio platform on
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: the Business Finance. Listen to me, share the words of greatness,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: share this interview. Lord, your specially young lady. Keep building
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: that brand in the d C area. I'm gonna come
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: get your girl. I'm gonna make your famous girl. I'm
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: gonna make you some more money, Carol, because you're listening
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: to the cuss what money made Conversations. We'll be right
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: back with Chef Wells Network. This is an amazing thing
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: about money making conversation is that I for fifteen years,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Steve Harvey really was my only friend because we were
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: together all the time. Since I started money making Conversations,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: I got friends that I believe in, I trust coming
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: out to what work and I love it, man, I
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: love it. My next guest, here's a chef. You may
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: have seen it many times on the Food Network. He's
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: brand ambassador for False vir Ss water and his products
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: could be found on the shares of Whole food stores.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making conversation Chef Jernard Wells, Come on, Cheff,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: are you doing that? My friend? I am doing good.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: It's always good to join you. You know. He pulled
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: so much energy that we we talked and we talked
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: those Sunday morning. Then we talked on Sunday morning because
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: because that's what happened is here's the beauty of you know, Chef.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: This is why Chef is successful because he had people
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: around here. They push him, you know, and they and
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: they out there selling his brand. So that's the number
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: one key in anybody being successful. You can't be the
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: only person that believe in you. You gotta you gotta
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: find other people that come along and say, hey man,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: when you get tired of shouting, just step aside my turn.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: And that's that's the beauty of being successful. And people
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: don't understand that. That's what they always say. You cannot
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: be successful by yourself. You cannot lead army by yourself,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: and you only sold you with a gun. You gotta
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: have a support group, and your support group is tremendous.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Tell us a little bit about your support group, because really,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: what I'm trying to shape our money making conversations now
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: is let people hear the truth. Here the stories, these
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: little antidotes, because we're all you're being on the show.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: We're building your brand, we're promoting, we're extended your brand,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: and you know, like every just put this out now.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Every Saturday morning on my Facebook page at nine am Eastern,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: we will launch a brand new Shift to Nord Wales
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: cookie recipe video recipe. Correctly, we're cooking us a good time.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: You gotta do sweet treats with it cool and we're
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: gonna you can share it. He has all the instructures
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: on there, all the ingredients so you can follow along.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: You can download it to your computer and you can
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: look at it. And because you know, thanks to you
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: for coming up. So you know, we're gonna have to
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: have the the deefried turkeys, the dresses, the macro and
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: the chief all that stuff. So every week start looking
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: at Saturday morning nine am. So tell everybody about your
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: support group. Chef, I think I got one of the
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: most amazing teams in the world, you know, Man, I
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: gotta give a big shout out to to my my publicist,
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Carlos Carlos scott Um of Envision Marketing, who, man, we
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: joined forces over a year ago. And I mean he
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: has been a powerhouse on pushing me. My communication directed
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: me a Lloyd. I mean me is one of the
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: most aggressive people that I know. When she che's determined
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: that she's gonna get the fund of somebody, somebody's gonna see.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: But she ain't that big. She ain't that big. I'm
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: not saying she's like she's short like my man on
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Game of Throne. But she ain't that much tale. She
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: got a lot, she got a lot of bugs. Man.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: And then not to mention man, my my beautiful wife,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Tina uh Tina wales Man. I mean that she she
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: stayed on me and make sure that I'm staying on tracking.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: And you know how that is she she she trying
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: to determine if she's gonna be more body for if
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: she's gonna manage me, man, and she all over the place.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: And last but not at least I can't forget Mr
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Russian McDonald money making conversations. Hey, you know, man, just
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: just to think up with you and you believe in
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: any time you have people that can see your vision
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and have a vision to believe, you know, willing to
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: share share you with the words. It's truely just blessed
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: within herself. Well, I'm gonna just tell you is that
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: the beauty of our relationship. And what I'm just trying
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: to do with this show is the show tell everybody
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: you can get there, because other people have out in there.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: You know. It's just like you know, there's only one person.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: It's only one person that's the very first person to
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: the top of mountain errors, but other people have followed. Okay,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: So so don't be shocked when you're going the store
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: and you see products on the shelf, you go, how
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: did that get on the shelf? Where you need to
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: find out? Okay, because not all these products on the
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: shilfs are from major corporations, you know, you know, they
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: really need to understand that. And I think that people
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: you know, because in your life, you know, you're an
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: African American male, so you know you weren't born well,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: as they say, a silver spoon in your mouth. So everything. Man,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I don't even know if I had a wooden But
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: you're big bard that you ate something that you ate
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: something that you ate something that hey, I'm permiss I
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: probably eat a lot of collar greens the hand. So
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: so when you when you talk about the opportunities to
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: be successful speaking of yourself personally, what jumps out the
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: most man myself person is just having the ambition. Ever still,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: and I and my father, and he was an entrepreneur,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: my mother was, and they truly paved the way for me.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: And they taught me, regardless of what the circumstances was,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: is to dream. And that's what I did. I dreamed big.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: But what I wanted to do was I put a
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: passion and work behind it. You know, everybody enough saying
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: this truth fake but that works is useless. And I
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: created a vision and a road mouth for myself. And
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: I was determined I was gonna go further than my surroundings.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: When I talked about I said, man, I come come
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: from a small town. The population I was always five
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: thousand people. But it wasn't about where I was living.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: It was about where I wanted to go. And that
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: was part of my journey. And and and going out
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: and lunch and companies man and and I lunched. I
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: lunched my first restaurant and I was sixteen years older
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: son and the and the thing was much did because
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: I wanted to buy a car going into my senior
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: year school, and my father taught me how to cook man,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: and that's what started at all man, and so so
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: so now here's the thing about it. Okay, there's a
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: lot of people out there. I have a talented a
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: young nephew who has Big six Barbecue, is a food
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: truck in Houston, Texas. He makes his own sausage. He's
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: just talented and and really it's really interesting, man, because
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: what this is just a this is just a basic
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: question because his bobecque does take taste different. Well, that's
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: a different rude his sausage, like he's real tips. What
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: what separates that? I gotta just ask you, as a chef,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: how how does you know? Because there's a lot of
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: restaurants are you can walk a different restaurant. They they
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: got the best shrimp. You go, who the bad cooking?
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: This is terrible exactly. And look who made that corn bread?
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: And you can taste the meal. You know what I'm
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: saying exactly. You know, it is not a cliche when
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: people say that I'm cooking with love and from the heart.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: It's is all about how you're feeling and what you
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: put into it. You know, whatever, whatever it is that
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: you love to do in life, if you're doing it
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: for the love of it. My thing is when I cooking,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: like the bother you're talking about with the sauces and
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: the sauces, I can imagine that when we cook, we're
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: not cooking for ourself, We're cooking for you. And that's
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: the thing. I treat every meal as if it's my
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: last meal, the same way what they say people who
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: in the shows, they treat every show and if it's
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: the last show. And you put it all out there, man,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: everything that I do, I'm doing it because I get
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: the pleasure out of seeing your reaction on how you
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: love and it is it is about a memoire. You
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: you can't do it. And I tell people when I
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: started off in this business, I just start off because
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: I he I thought I was gonna be a millionaire's
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: gonna be successful. I started. I'll because I love what
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: I do and I love making people happy. And that's
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: what it was about. So said, who are you your father?
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: And then you mentioned your wife who you know your
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: part time manager? You mentioned Mia, and then you mentioned Carlos.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: And then when you go out there the fans though,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: what your fans? What do what what what is your
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: responsibility to your fans? My biggest responsibility to the fans
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: is staying true Toil that That's what my biggest thing
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: is to the fans, is staying true to him. The
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: fans started loving me, man, I've been on Food Network
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: all of nine years from Cutthroat Kids and Sheelf wanted
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Food Network start Judge and Chop Jr. And the thing
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: is they kept bringing me backwards because the fans desired
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: and loved the character of who I was and what
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: it was was the originality. And when you say, okay,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: the everyday person, regardless of how big I get in
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: show business, I'm still Denard at the end of the
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: day a k a. The self love man, and and
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: what it's about is given the people what and glove
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: and the fact because at the end of the day,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: I have to always keep it in my mind by
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: staying humbling, making sure that I remind people I wouldn't
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: be where I would where I am today if it
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: wasn't for God and the fans who love what I do.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Right right, Okay, We're gonna go to a break. Hang on.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: I know I only put you down for one break.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Hang on, come back we're gonna wrap this up a
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: couple of courses. I gotta ask you then, I want
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: to introduce you to one of my favorite bakers here
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: in Houston, Texas, and this t K. We'll be right back.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: We're right back with more money making conversation. Got the
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: chef of love. I call him see j W. You
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: can see his videos every Saturday on my Facebook page
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: and ninety ham Measter. He's cooking. What you're cooking this week?
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: What you're cooking this week? Man, we got some several
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: times making that time those from scratch Baby awesome. We've
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: been right back with more money making conversation. They told
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: him back to talk. He told him back to talk.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: They talked just with Sean McDonald. This is the final
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: break mighty made conversations coming right up following me. It's
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Tiffany Smith down in the local market KLDL Fortnight, my man, chef.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Now you now, Chef, you know I'm gonna just tell
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: you this, man. You know you you you know this
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: is a good thing because see, this is how you
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: create relationships. You know, how to stay in front of
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: people what I'm saying, because you you know, you were
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: sending me videos of you cooking, and then I didn't respond,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: and you follow up, go you didn't like it? When
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: we're seeing you another you know, you know which which
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: is good because that man, that means that you're putting them,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: you're willing to put the work in to build your
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: brand and create your relationship. And and this is this
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: is very important. And this is what I hope people
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: are starting to take away when they're listening it to
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: this show, is that be willing to make an adjustment
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: if it gives you the opportunity to win. Because you know,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: we got on a conference call my producer, uh, Samantha Taylor,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: and I've gotta call him and Mia and we in Samantha,
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: who he don't know at least at least he know me.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: You know, he knows me, so he could probably take
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: a hit from me. But then he got this unknown
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: person and looked at his video giving him notes and saying, well,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: you now, it's a little too fast here and I
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: can't read the text. The text needs to be white,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: and I think you need to be you know, you're
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: moving too too quick when you're cooking. And I don't
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: even know she can cook, first of all, you know,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: so we got a person who giving him notes. We
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: don't even know if they can cook because she's she's
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: petite inside. When petite people don't really eat, and so
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: you know that, you know they eat. Petite people get
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: on my nerves, you know, talking about they eat a lot.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: You know, all they do that one little burst of eating.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: I told you I could eat. Okay, follow hm around
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: for a week. That was a whole meal. You know,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: I'm saying and so and so. I say that to
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: say that, you know, you're wanted to take these notes
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: and make these adjustments. And then Leslie, who you really
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: don't know, my technical guru. She said, well he misspelled tablespoon.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: You know, she said, I like the video, but he
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: misspelled tablespoon. And so you're taking all these hits right
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: from all these unknown people. I ain't saying the words.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: I was just letting people do their thing. You can't spell,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: told you can't cook. But you you're hanging in there
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: because all you see his opportunity. You're telling everybody I
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: don't care what they say. Long as Mr McDonald said
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: he gonna post my video, I'm riding all this out.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: So telling people tell my listeners in my viewers why
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: that was so important that they need to understand when
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: people criticize you or critique your work, don't take it personal.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: You never can take the person you know. It's it's
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: constructive criticism. And that's that's what it is that it builds.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: It builds you up. It built us up to the
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: platform where we were. And I learned a long time ago.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: If somebody is saying something to you in this industry
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: and you you're trying to build a business and a brand,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I'm a spunge. And that's what I suggested people don't
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: take it to heart, taking and learn from me because
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I put in my mind was the people that are
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: giving me the advice and that are giving these different tools,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: they have been there and done that, and that's where
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I'm trying to get to. And that's where I want
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: to maintain. And did so so absorbed and what I
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: learned to do with adapt, adapt to change and adapt
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: fad when w ain't got time, Man, if he's sitting
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: around and I'm talking to try to think about what
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I need to do, I need to hear what you
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: guys are saying on it immediately. Cool. Let me tell
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: you something, my friend there's a lot of cooking shows
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: out there. How does a person sitting at the house
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: get on these shows? Man? I'm just how do how
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: do you know? You'll tell you? You know, you turn
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: on man. They got people thinking their own cooking videos.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: You've got people on the Food with Net word the
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: Cooking Network, that people on the they're people cooking on TV.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: They shouldn't be cooking. Okay, let's stop bading. It's some
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: people out there cooking on TV. They shouldn't be cooking,
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: but somehow they got on TV. How does that work? Man?
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Like she's a comic, I know how that works. You
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: know you you keep being funny, Keep being funny, keep auditions.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Eventually you can understand you're funny. Now, everybody can do
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: a hamburger. There's a lot of people out there, can
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: do a steak. There's a lot of people out there
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: can do tacos or barbecue. How does a person get
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: on TV they can cook? First of all, you gotta
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: have a culinary point of view. That culinary point the
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: culinary point of view is what's your ain't gonna you
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: can't go on there. If you notice everybody's on the
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: cooking that they're cooking a certain specific thing, a certain goal.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: That's your style. You gotta have that. You can't be
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: all over the board. That's the thing. The second thing
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: is because they these people on the nereways, they've got
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of people, some men their information and
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: the keys figure out what's unique about you and hone
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: in to make that shine. Hey, you gotta country acting
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: and they love here that in New York gay focus.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Don't talking country y'all y'all out. And learned to connect
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: with the power of people. And that's what I did,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: you know. I learned to connect with the producers and
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: the talent scouts, and I kept put in my self
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: self in front of them because persistency is key. And
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: I keep telling people that if it's something that you desire,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: wanting like you never stopped. You never stopped, You keep
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: hammering at regardless of how hard it may sing. Man,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: there were time of years when I thought, hey, I
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: would be at the bottom of the barrel and then
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: by be staying the funny people my phone started ranging
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: they Hey, we want you to do this, and and
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: I was say yes, man, I said, I wasn't turning
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: down nothing but my collar until I guess I need to. Hey,
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: they put me on the show like cutthroat kitchen man.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: They had me cooking on the water. They had me
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: run around with all counter donut rings on there, and
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: I went and I dominated because why. The reason why
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: is I wasn't just sitting at home sitting the videos.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: I was still working on my skill and my knowledge
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: because this was like a comedian. A comedian works on
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: his talent. He works on what he's got his punchline.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: You don't get out there and shoot. And I wanted
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: to people one of those guys if I knew this
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: is the way I want to go. I want to
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: get the fund that camera just shoot from me here,
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: my man, brother, I want to thank you for calling
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: on my show today. We are partners. You know that.
