- 0:00Mark chapter 8. In those days when there was
- 0:03again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his
- 0:07disciples and said to them, I feel compassion for the people,
- 0:10because they have remained with me now three days and have
- 0:13nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to
- 0:15their homes, they will faint on the way.
- 0:17And some of them have come from a great distance.
- 0:20And his disciples answered him, Where will anyone be able to
- 0:23find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these
- 0:27people? And he was asking them how many
- 0:29loaves do you have? And they said seven.
- 0:33And he directed the people to sit down on the ground and
- 0:36taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks and broke them and
- 0:39started giving them to His disciples to serve to them, and
- 0:42they serve them to the people. They also had a few small fish.
- 0:46And after he had blessed them, he ordered these to be served as
- 0:49well. And they ate and were satisfied.
- 0:52And they picked up 7 large baskets full of what was
- 0:54leftover of the broken pieces. About 4000 were there and He
- 0:59sent them away, and immediately He entered the boat with His
- 1:02disciples and came to the district of Dalmanutha.
- 1:06The Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, seeking from
- 1:09Him a sign from heaven to test Him.
- 1:12Sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, Why does this generation
- 1:16seek for a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will
- 1:19be given to this generation. Leaving them, He again embarked
- 1:23and went away to the other side. And they had forgotten to take
- 1:26bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with
- 1:29them. And he was giving orders to
- 1:31them, saying, Watch out, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees
- 1:35and the leaven of Herod. They began to discuss with one
- 1:38another the fact that they had no bread.
- 1:41And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, Why do you discuss the
- 1:44fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or
- 1:47understand? Do you have a hardened heart?
- 1:51Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear?
- 1:54And do you not remember when I broke the five loaves for the
- 1:575000, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?
- 2:01They said to him, 12 When I broke the seven for the 4000,
- 2:06how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?
- 2:09And they said to him, 7 And he was saying to them, Do you not
- 2:13yet understand? And they came to Bethsaida, and
- 2:16they brought a blind man to Jesus and implored him to touch
- 2:19him. Taking the blind man by the
- 2:21hand, he brought him out of the village.
- 2:23And after spitting on his eyes and laying his hands on him, he
- 2:26asked him, Do you see anything? And he looked up and said, I see
- 2:30men, for I see them like trees walking around.
- 2:34Then again he laid his hands on his eyes and he looked intently
- 2:37and was restored and began to see everything clearly.
- 2:41And he sent him to his home, saying, do not even enter the
- 2:43village. Jesus went out along with his
- 2:46disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi, and on the
- 2:49way he questioned his disciples, saying to them, Who do people
- 2:52say that I am? They told him, saying, John the
- 2:56Baptist and others say Elijah, but others one of the prophets.
- 3:00And he continued by questioning them.
- 3:03But who do you say that I am? Peter answered and said to him,
- 3:07You are the Christ. And he warned them to tell no
- 3:10one about him. And he began to teach them that
- 3:13the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the
- 3:16elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and
- 3:20after three days rise again. And he was stating the matter
- 3:24plainly. And Peter took him aside and
- 3:26began to rebuke him. But turning around and seeing
- 3:29his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, Get behind me, Satan,
- 3:32for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but
- 3:35man's. And he summoned the crowd with
- 3:37his disciples and said to them, If anyone wishes to come after
- 3:41me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
- 3:45For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it.
- 3:48But whoever loses his life for my sake and the Gospels will
- 3:52save it. For what does it profit a man to
- 3:54gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
- 3:58For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
- 4:01For whoever is ashamed of me in my words, in this adulterous and
- 4:05sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him,
- 4:09when he comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
