- 0:01All right, everybody welcome back to another
- 0:03episode of the buck puster podcast where we talk
- 0:07about anything and everything Hockey, I am Jeff
- 0:12followed by everyone else in the studio today.
- 0:15What's going on? Everyone else being just me
- 0:19We are back at it another week We're debating
- 0:24on if we're gonna do back -to -back weeks based
- 0:26on how crazy the trade deadline was If you guys
- 0:30paid any attention, you would know it was a pretty
- 0:32crazy trade deadline. One specific trade in itself
- 0:36is the reason that we are here today and we're
- 0:38like, we gotta talk about this. But we'll get
- 0:40to that a little bit later. As we like to usually
- 0:44start off the past private punishments whole
- 0:46season, I think it's talking some eerie honors
- 0:47hockey. I believe since the last episode, we
- 0:51only played these two games this weekend against
- 0:53Owen Sound, winning both of them. Sweeping going
- 0:56sound. How about that attack pack? Drave that
- 0:58whole fucking way just to lose both games. Imagine
- 1:00that and Not so much close games either. No,
- 1:04I mean after they split up once I took the quick
- 1:06one up and lead Friday night or Saturday night
- 1:08Friday night. Sorry Friday night. I was like,
- 1:11oh shit. Here we go But then Erie scored four
- 1:13on answer to win four to one and then last night
- 1:15Saturday night final what seven three seven four
- 1:19Yeah, I kind of wasn't really close. I kind of
- 1:22fought towards the end of the second there was
- 1:23like, oh, this might be an ugly third got two
- 1:25goals or Less than a minute. Yeah, let's say
- 1:27like within the final minute of the third like
- 1:29our second like oh gosh But I don't know three
- 1:32unanswered in the third from Erie final score
- 1:34seven three Almost a mountain fence hat trick.
- 1:38He had to came very close and a couple opportunities
- 1:40for for a third goal there but uh Yeah And we
- 1:45are officially back in the playoffs. Officially
- 1:48back in the playoffs, clinched that officially
- 1:49on Friday night with that win. We actually had
- 1:54a reason to celebrate this time. I'm like, last
- 1:56time we did it against Owen Sound, we're celebrating
- 1:58after a loss. But it was, we got the point that
- 2:00we needed, so we're like, yeah! But it was like,
- 2:02you guys just lost the game. The loss here, the
- 2:05attack pack set right in our section, both games.
- 2:09But yeah, they didn't do a whole lot of cheering
- 2:10this whole weekend, so. Couldn't really hear
- 2:12them either. Two seconds over and we couldn't
- 2:14even hear them cheering, so. Like, can you hear
- 2:17that? I was like, Collins, can you hear that?
- 2:19Honestly, I really can't. Like, I'm not being
- 2:21sarcastic dickhead. Like, whoa, what does that
- 2:23sound? I legit could not hear them, so. Yeah,
- 2:28great, great two games there, man. Definitely
- 2:31play for Chris Mallette. Free Chris Mallette.
- 2:34Free. I gotta get a lot of props to the auditors
- 2:37for their marketing for the Chris Mallette stuff
- 2:41on Friday night. Oh great. The t -shirts, the
- 2:43free Mallette t -shirts, the Facebook posts with
- 2:46the certain specific letters being capitalized
- 2:49to promote the merch. Whoever is the head of
- 2:52that, I just want to shake their hand. Huge props.
- 2:56Unbelievable. But I don't think we, honestly
- 2:59we haven't talked about the suspensions that
- 3:01came from The brawl, if you can even call it
- 3:04that, last Sunday. It wasn't the brawl. The disagreements,
- 3:09the uh, what are they calling it? The uh, the
- 3:11altercation that happened in that game. Both
- 3:14Chris Millett and head coach of the Peterborough
- 3:16Peets, Chris, or, what the fuck's his first name?
- 3:19Adam. Not Adam. Wilson. Rob. Rob Wilson. Rob
- 3:23Wilson. Rob Wilson. Each five game suspensions,
- 3:26fucking so dumb. Could have been no more than
- 3:29two, which Eerie's assistant coach. Ken Paroff
- 3:32also gets two games for literally holding our
- 3:35coach back and not trying to further the, you
- 3:37know, the altercation. But, and of course, Eerie,
- 3:41Shocker, the American team, getting the shit
- 3:43end of the stick with Alex Messier, getting a
- 3:45nine game suspension. And then the fines, Eerie
- 3:49gets $7 ,500 USD, Peter Rogan gets $5 ,000 or
- 3:54five grand Canadian currency, which is nothing
- 3:56compared to, I think it's their 72 cents to all
- 3:59our... Their Canadian dollar is worth 72 cents.
- 4:05Yeah, so all like American dollars. They're probably
- 4:08flying 4 ,200 4 ,000 maybe Yeah, and then Another
- 4:15forward I don't remember thing off top my head
- 4:17from Peter Burrow a four -game suspension for
- 4:19being the third player involved in a fight So
- 4:23pretty much the player that initially tripped
- 4:25our goaltender Charlie Burns, which is what initiated
- 4:27the entire thing if you ask me gets away scott
- 4:30free absolutely nothing happens um obviously
- 4:34alex messi knew he was going to get suspended
- 4:36to begin with because like this is getting i'm
- 4:38already at my max fight so i'm just going to
- 4:40go all fucking out yeah if i'm going out i'm
- 4:43going out with a bang literally took two guys
- 4:46on at once and legit was holding his own beat
- 4:49the shit out of one and i think he could have
- 4:51done a lot more damage if he wasn't being ganged
- 4:54up on by the second one and trying to get yanked
- 4:56off as he still was throwing punches at the second
- 4:58dude too but just unbelievable it was insane
- 5:02still really upset that i didn't get to be there
- 5:05for it but i was i watched it as i watched it
- 5:06on tv i walked in walked in from getting food
- 5:08and i was like holy shit i'm just in time to
- 5:12see them pulling alex off and you know skating
- 5:17him over to the bench and i had to see the coaches
- 5:19i was like holy shit absolutely insanity man
- 5:23you just you can't you can't make that shit up
- 5:26no but he had two much needed wins for the auditors
- 5:30and we secure them both. A pretty, very tough
- 5:33schedule coming from here on out. So we got Windsor
- 5:38on the 11th Tuesday. At Windsor and then went
- 5:43on the 12th and then Sarnia. And then obviously
- 5:47next Saturday. Sunday is against Niagara on the
- 5:5115th and on the 16th and is against Gwell. And
- 5:58also someone that I think we mentioned him a
- 6:00couple times the guy that says in front of us
- 6:02I see the thing in order. He's the one that said
- 6:04he was you know messy probably in that moment.
- 6:06He was thinking I'm already at my max plates.
- 6:09I might as well just Go all out. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 6:13get suspended. Anyway, so you know the OHL is
- 6:15a dumb rule You can only have a big five plates
- 6:17per season. Yeah Yeah, I would have thought he
- 6:21already had more than that more than that by
- 6:23now, but um I know Royston's had I know Royston's
- 6:26probably get close to five McCall's already had
- 6:28like two, I think. I think Sod's had one earlier
- 6:31on in the season. Honestly, Eddie had one earlier,
- 6:34just a couple weeks back. And Gordie had one
- 6:38last year, still one of the best ones I've seen
- 6:40in person ever. That was great. We're like, oh
- 6:43shit, it's Eddie. Yeah, I know this is something
- 6:46we also discussed at the game. I think it was
- 6:48last night. Last night. Something I wanted to
- 6:50bring up, we discussed on air. Next year's OA
- 6:53situation. We have seven. Always going in to
- 6:58next season for core beam Alex Messier Joel Edwards
- 7:03Captain Kerry trance on defense. You got else
- 7:06to Alexi W makes a solder McCall and I know Erdogan
- 7:15So I I have said I'm gonna stick by it Terry's
- 7:19going to Anaheim or he's going out west somewhere
- 7:21in Anaheim system We're gonna try and get well
- 7:25Messi has gone to the night at the NLL the National
- 7:29Cross League Because he signed that professional
- 7:31contracts with the Toronto Rock. Yeah, I can
- 7:33very easily see him just sticking to that Yeah,
- 7:35since he's on under contract. He'll just go up
- 7:38there. So if you know Instead of opting into
- 7:41his fifth year or his oh a year or whatever And
- 7:44I can see them get rid of like Samuel. I've not
- 7:47been a big fan of him these past couple seasons
- 7:49I'd be happy to see him go. I mean regardless
- 7:51I still think we can get a decent return for
- 7:54him. So yeah, do you think you'd keep McCall
- 8:00out of the defensemen, or do you keep Sodds?
- 8:03I've been up in the air. Part of me wishes, like,
- 8:07hopes that we can keep Sodds because, you know,
- 8:10the veteran experience. I know they just recently
- 8:12gave him the ace with Schaefer beating him out
- 8:14on that. Schaefer ain't here to beat him out.
- 8:18But at the same point, McCall does fit Chris's
- 8:22system. a whole lot better than what Sod's does.
- 8:25He can skate, he can move, but he still hasn't,
- 8:27you know, fights in the back end to make it on
- 8:31the body block shots or whatever. Sod is part
- 8:33of the, hey, I'm going to stay at home, I'm the
- 8:35shutdown guy. And I know McCall has mentioned
- 8:38too, from what I've heard from other Odders fans,
- 8:42like he wants to stay an year. Like since he
- 8:45signed with the Odders, like he kind of wants
- 8:47to stay another year in the O .H .O. before.
- 8:51Before going back to the NCAA and like with him
- 8:54technically this is his freshman year in college
- 8:57Not many players for out of the Boston system
- 9:01Get a opening night roster spot. Yeah, not many
- 9:05sophomores also get an open night roster spot.
- 9:09So It's just a matter of you know, he wants to
- 9:12stay in the area where he knows He's gonna get
- 9:13an opening night roster spot where he knows he's
- 9:15gonna be you know, maybe not the number one defenseman
- 9:18but A blue liner where you know Chris can or
- 9:25the coaches staff can kind of lean on be like
- 9:27hey We need you to pay you know big big minutes
- 9:29We need you to make an even depending on who
- 9:31we keep who we get rid of Yeah, yeah, I think
- 9:34varies like he can fit on that first line parent
- 9:35next year probably him and Ty Well, it also depends
- 9:39a Schaefer Schaefer Schaefer is gonna go up that
- 9:43the only part like the only number one overall
- 9:46draft pick to not immediately go into Danny Shaw,
- 9:51his own power of the Sabres, where he spent another
- 9:53season down in the, I think the queue is where
- 9:56he came from. I think he came up and played a
- 9:58couple games, like an emergency call -up, he
- 10:00played a few games in his draft year. Pre -season,
- 10:03yes, but other than that, his rookie season,
- 10:06or his first year. I think it was like end of
- 10:08the season, post trade deadline call -ups. That
- 10:11okay, like this is our game number 82. I think
- 10:15I don't think he made I don't think he had an
- 10:16opening night spot until like two seasons later
- 10:20So but either way, I wouldn't power isn't wasn't
- 10:23this turn the opening roster. He's the only number
- 10:26one draft pick to not be Oh since It's been a
- 10:31it's been a while but you know, I had a match
- 10:35with shape first caliper You know, he'd be opening
- 10:38our night roster to whoever he goes to. So you
- 10:41think Kerry, McCall, Erliden? To keep. Eddie.
- 10:47Eddie? Eddie is the forward. Okay. Because again,
- 10:50knowing Anaheim, seeing how he played in preseason
- 10:53games out there, seeing how he played World Juniors
- 10:56and pre -Injury, I see Kerry go to West Coast.
- 11:00What do you think, Jeff? I'm saying Erliden's
- 11:03gonna stay, McCall's gonna stay, and then...
- 11:06Eddie is gonna stay. I do think, unfortunately,
- 11:11sadly, with how much we love Eddie and how much
- 11:13he has grown to be loved for the Otters, if Anaheim
- 11:18decides to let Carey play another year here,
- 11:21I think you gotta keep Carey. I think you have
- 11:23to. Regardless, even if they decided to say,
- 11:28hey, we want Carey to play one more year in the
- 11:30O, you wouldn't have even decided to trade him
- 11:32off. I think regardless, if it's Carey Torrance
- 11:34or Dylan Edwards, I think we can get a really
- 11:36good return back. I don't think it's gonna be
- 11:38one of those 13 picks for one player, like you're
- 11:41seeing what Carson Rakoff got that. I think even
- 11:45Cam Allen, when he went over to London, I think
- 11:47London sent a good amount of picks over to North
- 11:49Bay. Guelph. Cam Allen came from Guelph. He came
- 11:53from Guelph. Yeah, and Guelph traded away Cam
- 11:56Allen and a couple 12 -packs. Traded a lot of
- 12:00picks away. I don't think it's gonna be to that
- 12:02extent, but definitely we need to have at least
- 12:05a couple, you know, forward or two come back
- 12:07for that, you know, losing Messier and losing
- 12:10that other forward. Even if Messier doesn't decide
- 12:14to go up to lacrosse, just as of yet, I don't
- 12:19see us hanging on to him. I do think he's gonna
- 12:23be the one that gets the boot. Whether he goes
- 12:25and signs another honky contract, like over and
- 12:27like a, I know a lot of your guys go to um...
- 12:51I don't think I'll have a true answer until the
- 12:53end of this season to see how well Saws continues
- 12:55to play. As of right now... Do want to say sods
- 12:59just because you want that veteran and veteran
- 13:02on the back end, you know If he leaves the most
- 13:06veteran person that there is what probably Schaefer
- 13:08And again, who knows what's gonna happen to him?
- 13:11Otherwise, you know behind him. It's time. It's
- 13:14you know, which he's got he's really starting
- 13:17to change on him He's really improved. He's really
- 13:20starting to look better on the defensive end
- 13:22He's getting in front of pucks a lot more. He's
- 13:24blocking shots a lot more. He's starting to lay
- 13:26down a couple hits. Of course, the one hit he
- 13:28did late Friday night, he almost got hurt. He
- 13:31did get hurt, but he was right back out there.
- 13:33But it could have been a lot worse. Very similar
- 13:35play to what happened to Kerry, but luckily he
- 13:38got up and was okay. I know he was out yesterday,
- 13:41but I think it hurt as a healthy scratch, so
- 13:42he's not hurt. Yeah, man, it's going to be tough.
- 13:46I know we thought last year's was tough. I think
- 13:48this year's. This one's even tougher. Because
- 13:51I think last year we only had five to choose
- 13:52from. This year we now have seven that we have
- 13:54to choose. Yeah, because, well, no, because we
- 13:58had Bruce. The three we have on Alfie, Marty,
- 14:04and Panna. Then we had Bruce, we had Smith, and
- 14:08we had Sova. So we had six, okay. We had six
- 14:11Astor. So one more this year than Astor, but
- 14:15it's still, more is more. I think it was announced
- 14:20right before the season even ended that Caleb
- 14:22was going to be going elsewhere, so we kind of
- 14:24knew that he wasn't going to be one. And that
- 14:26he had other plans to join the police academy
- 14:29up in Buffalo. It's tough. Now in between, it
- 14:36all depends on what Anaheim does with Cary. I
- 14:38say if Cary's able to stay, you gotta keep Cary.
- 14:41You gotta keep your captain. Can't have what,
- 14:43a different captain for each of the past four
- 14:45years now would it be? Since COVID. Since COVID,
- 14:50yeah. Having had Captain for multiple years sitting
- 14:52together. Because the 25th season of the Otters.
- 14:55Was D 'Amato. They split between selling D 'Amato.
- 14:59Morty then was in his OA year. Morty and then
- 15:04Sova before he got traded. And then that's what
- 15:07led up to. Kerry being Captain. Kerry. Yeah.
- 15:12It's going to be tough to decide who we want
- 15:14to keep and who we're going to. Say, hey, we
- 15:17don't want you. I thought we don't want you,
- 15:19but you know, it's hockey, it's business. You
- 15:22got to choose one or the other. Unfortunately,
- 15:24you didn't make the cut. Actually, now that I'm
- 15:27thinking about it, I think the last time we had
- 15:29the carry over captain was the 17 -18 into 18
- 15:35-19 season. Who's that been, the Edmund? Kyle
- 15:38Maksimovic. Maksimovic, okay. Maksimovic was
- 15:41the... 17 18 and then halfway through the 18
- 15:4719 season when he got traded and 1920 before
- 15:50cancer the cancellation was Dove man Yeah, yeah
- 15:56as Ethan would say yeah, I jacked up earlier
- 16:00Yeah, this is a little kind of a trivia question.
- 16:03I had came up with last night. I figured I was
- 16:05gonna ask it tonight. So as of right now Samuel
- 16:08Fano has 37 goals Malcolm's fence is one away
- 16:11from 30 at 29 Pano was three away from 30 at
- 16:1427. So the Aries had a chance to have two, possibly
- 16:17three, 30 goal scorers. When was the last time
- 16:20the Aries had more than one 30 goal scorer, and
- 16:23who were they? It was the championship run. So
- 16:34the 16 -17 season. It would have been Strohmer,
- 16:39ADB. And I want to say Fogel, because Fogel was
- 16:45on that team. I want to say it was Taylor Radish.
- 16:50So it's either Fogel or one of the Radish brothers.
- 16:55Well, Taylor. Yeah, Taylor, because Taylor's
- 16:57the fourth. Taylor was the fourth, Darren is
- 16:59the defenseman. So I'm saying ADB, Strom, and
- 17:07Taylor Radish. You are right, but it was only
- 17:11two. It was only ADB and Taylor Radish. Strohm
- 17:15only had 22 holes that year. But think, he spent
- 17:18a good, what? His first 20 games of our season
- 17:21still up in Arizona. So he missed a good 10,
- 17:2415 games with us. And that year he only played,
- 17:29he only played 35 games with us that year. And
- 17:32still had 22 holes and 75 points in that many
- 17:37games. So ADB had 65. Taylor Radish had 42 total
- 17:43points. ADB had 127. Taylor Radish had one on
- 17:46us. The fact is that we had two 100 plus point
- 17:55getters on that team. It could have damn well
- 17:58been three if you know Dylan was down here in
- 18:00the area. I can only assume that's the last time
- 18:03that happened too when we had two 100 point getters.
- 18:05Yeah, because the season after when we took the
- 18:10drop off, I don't think anybody's got above 70.
- 18:14That's the last time we had a single 100 point
- 18:16score. The closest we've had is, looks like it
- 18:20was Pano last year with 76. Because I know he's
- 18:23close to actually having his career high, Pano.
- 18:29Yeah. Because he leads our team and points right
- 18:33now at 74 Alfie only one behind him at 73 so
- 18:37Yeah, I don't think we're gonna get a hundred
- 18:39point. Definitely in seen 80 maybe 85. It's gonna
- 18:43be tough We got only what seven games left here,
- 18:45but hopefully you can we can see Pena get 80
- 18:48And I'd like to see us get three 30 goal scores.
- 18:52That'd be pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah Okay, I see
- 18:55now I kind of cheated when I went a little bit
- 18:57farther back. It was the 14 -15 regular season.
- 19:01We had three 30 -plus goal scorers. Okay. Three
- 19:0530 -plus. Three. ADB led the way 51. David. Stromer
- 19:12at 45. And then yeah, David was in third with
- 19:1544. Yeah, sounds very right. But that, obviously
- 19:19that was, oh actually no. Right? So rookie Stromer
- 19:23had 40 of the team goals. No, no. An ADB. That
- 19:27the team was. Oh, what ADB? 51. Because, you
- 19:31know, people didn't take him seriously. He's
- 19:34too small! He's too small! He's not gonna make
- 19:37it into the professional hockey! He's too small!
- 19:40Look at what happened! He's still doing good
- 19:43with Detroit. He's too small! Top three on his
- 19:46team, if not, might be the best. He's too small!
- 19:50He's not gonna make it into pro hockey! I know,
- 19:53we got him. I heard somebody overheard behind
- 19:58this last night saying oh Pano's really he's
- 20:01got the skills, but he doesn't have the size
- 20:03It's a good point it really is he's got the skill
- 20:07of you, but he just doesn't have a size That's
- 20:13honestly a really good way to describe Pano that's
- 20:15a very good way he's only what five seven five
- 20:19eight himself But Dylan's only 5 '6", 5 '7".
- 20:25I said Notre Dame must have really liked his
- 20:27playing style because they signed him for next
- 20:31year. Pano Femis. 5 '11". He's 5 '11"? 5 '11".
- 20:36Really? Maybe they weren't talking about Pano
- 20:38that I heard. No, they weren't. They weren't
- 20:40talking about Pano. Because I overheard them
- 20:44talking about Pano. Yeah, it was the guy who
- 20:46corrected me. It was talking about him. i know
- 20:48you and him are making just you know small talking
- 20:50here and there once or twice but yeah man he
- 20:52seemed like a good guy i feel like he knew his
- 20:54shit too some of the stuff he was saying like
- 20:55he knew what he knew what he was talking about
- 20:56you know the average fan that's like oh we stuck
- 20:58like winning three to two what do you mean we
- 21:00suck yeah now i want to grow smoke up your ass
- 21:04but i i mean he knew enough to get by it but
- 21:07i don't i'm obviously not knowing the guy it's
- 21:10tough to say yeah you know all all of what he
- 21:12knew yeah so one last time going back to the
- 21:16oas man it's It's tough. Next year, it's going
- 21:19to be very, very tough. Dave Brown, Chris Mullett's
- 21:22going to have some very tough decisions to make
- 21:24for who they want to keep. Like you said, with
- 21:27Chris Mullett's system, I think McCall would
- 21:30fit a lot better than Sod's. And thus, that's
- 21:32something that Sod's really decides to work on
- 21:35in the offseason and in camp and shit, to, you
- 21:37know, be more physical. So be it. Saw the call
- 21:45Frazier rolling bodies and some even saw a whole
- 21:48amigo Take a couple make a couple hits that we're
- 21:50not used to seeing him do on Friday and on Saturday
- 21:52time making a couple of hits Obviously making
- 21:55those stupid probably was it there 25 seconds
- 21:59into the game 29 29 seconds and when it was a
- 22:02very weak call buddy Penalty there's a lot of
- 22:06really horrible weak calls yesterday They're
- 22:09calling the most why the fuck did you call that
- 22:11and then missing the most obvious ones? Typical
- 22:14OHL for Regner. But yeah, with Chris Melendon
- 22:19here, dude, like... I'm really liking it. You
- 22:21can just overall tell, not even just by plate,
- 22:24I mean, yeah, mostly by plate style, but just
- 22:26some of the interviews, like the soundbites that
- 22:28some of the players are doing, just overall,
- 22:29and like the post -game interviews, just how
- 22:31much more electric and how much more fun these
- 22:34kids and these players are seeming to have with
- 22:36Chris. I think they're calling him Malli. Behind
- 22:40the bench now, you know, these last two games,
- 22:42they're playing for him, you know. I love how
- 22:44they showed Ken and Chris on the scoreboard Friday
- 22:47night for almost after every goal just cheering
- 22:49the fans on and going crazy with us Actually,
- 22:52so funny enough a couple players stopped in my
- 22:54store the other day. I think it was it was Tuesday
- 22:58And I know I one of the guys I I kind of talked
- 23:02to was Malcolm Spence And I was like, hey, you
- 23:06know, if you don't mind me asking, you know,
- 23:07what was said down there on the ice? You know,
- 23:10he was like, oh, just a bunch of nonsense. You
- 23:12know, at that point I was like, well, it's nice
- 23:14to see you guys, you know, actually rounding.
- 23:15He's like, yeah, you know, the whole team of
- 23:17mates, we're his boys. We're his team. So, just
- 23:22the energy that he had, that Saadz had, I think
- 23:25all are fulfilled so far with them. So just the
- 23:28energy, they all fucking perked up and they're
- 23:30together, we're his fucking team. Like this,
- 23:32it's time to go. That's the kind of coach that
- 23:36Erie has needed. That coach that is willing to
- 23:39not only stick up for the team, but literally
- 23:41step into the line of fire to stick up and stick
- 23:46up for this team. That's what we've been needing
- 23:48for a very long time now. Haven't seen that since
- 23:51probably, like I said, no block since he was
- 23:53down here. I said definitely since now. I know
- 23:56Hartzberg was kind of showing signs of it towards
- 23:57the beginning of his tenure here and kind of
- 23:59died off and just ended up kind of doing not
- 24:01much of anything. BJ was absolutely terrible
- 24:04from the start and Stan came in obviously he
- 24:07came in when we were bond with the barrel didn't
- 24:09have a whole lot of I mean we really liked how
- 24:12we looked in the last month of that season then
- 24:14obviously last season we really liked how we
- 24:15looked with Stan in there and then kind of this
- 24:17year with Stan was just kind of just kind of
- 24:19falling off and wasn't the same. Also, we know
- 24:22what happened. We don't know entirely what happened,
- 24:23but we know the basis of the synopsis of what
- 24:26happened But yeah, like I said just all all together
- 24:29this the energy and the will to want to win with
- 24:33this team isn't right now I think is the best
- 24:35I've seen it at least I became I love seeing
- 24:41this especially in this the energy I've enjoyed
- 24:44because first time we're seeing a very exciting
- 24:48team. Obviously last year was pretty fun too,
- 24:52but since obviously the 16 -17 season one, I
- 25:00lost seeing the energy behind the players and
- 25:03just in the coaching staff. No offense, I mean
- 25:06I think anybody can admit this, this team obviously
- 25:08isn't as skilled as that team was. No. But you
- 25:11can tell the thrive to win is just as much as
- 25:14it was then. So a lot of those guys on that team
- 25:17knew, obviously Stromer, Debrinket, Fogel, Radish.
- 25:21They knew that, hey, with this team, this is
- 25:23probably our last shot at this. Because we're
- 25:25losing Stromer, we're going to lose ADB, we're
- 25:26going to lose Taylor Radish. Sorry, Darren. Because
- 25:31Taylor played with us the following year for
- 25:34a little bit, and they got true to Sue. And obviously,
- 25:37you know, Cirelli was going to be leaving, so
- 25:39they knew like, hey, this is the best this team
- 25:40is going to get. We need to win. That's why they
- 25:44called it that year's All -In Playoff run. We
- 25:48traded for an OA that year. I don't think Fogo
- 25:53was. Fogo was as well. Who was the OA's that
- 25:58year? Strong Fogo Australia. ADB was not. I thought
- 26:02he was that year. Or was he just due to go up
- 26:05because they knew he was probably going up to
- 26:06the I think He was already drafted he was in
- 26:13no way, but he's already drafted So radishes
- 26:16in 98 ADB's in 97 Pettit is nine so does Pettit
- 26:22has the 96 Stronger was 97, but they knew he
- 26:27was gonna go up Sorry Fogel is 96. So, Pettit
- 26:35Fogel and Cirelli? Darren Radish. Darren Radish,
- 26:39okay. Cirelli is 97. He's 97, okay. But again,
- 26:44they also probably thought he was gonna go up,
- 26:46so. But still, like we said, yeah, that year
- 26:48was just the all, you know, they said they called
- 26:50it the all -in. Probably won't have that happen
- 26:53again. Probably not this year, but like I said,
- 26:55this team has just as much drive to win as that
- 26:58team did, I think. At least in my eyes. Yeah,
- 27:01that's why... I think so the drive the win I
- 27:05know like we even have like sportsnet Pittsburgh
- 27:06is actually picking up to broadcast I know they
- 27:09already did one earlier this month and they're
- 27:10doing another one Wednesday against Sarnia to
- 27:13broadcast the others game the fact that we have
- 27:15you know a station like that that you know broadcast
- 27:19the penguins the pirates that wants to broadcast
- 27:22a team like Erie you know in the OHL you know
- 27:24team you wouldn't normally see on a big broadcasting
- 27:26station like that that just shows how much this
- 27:29team You know how much they want this team to
- 27:32be looked at and to not be overlooked and to
- 27:34me, you know Oh, we don't want to watch this
- 27:35team. People want to watch this team It'll be
- 27:40just like 30 minutes talking about the otters
- 27:42You know, you know what would be better instead
- 27:44of you know being broadcast into the world Come
- 27:48to the fucking games make the traffic area spend
- 27:51the 20 bucks to get into the arena bums in seats
- 27:54people bums in seats just like he's he's meant
- 28:06to he bought up with the 10 game package whatever
- 28:09the flex package for this year like and he said
- 28:12like let's write in Pittsburgh and he's the point
- 28:15might have been the same guy we spoke you and
- 28:16I spoke yeah yeah it was I think I think he's
- 28:20really the only guy from Pittsburgh that drives
- 28:22drives up on a more than a regular basis the
- 28:33full package season tickets for next year and
- 28:37then like he said like the drive sucks but he's
- 28:40like but he's like it's worth it like coming
- 28:43up to the games. Not always but it's worth it
- 28:46majority of the time. Well it depends what uh
- 28:49what time of the year it is because it could
- 28:52be great you know early on in the season late
- 28:54in the season but that that December January
- 28:56push especially with the weather Lake Erie. I'm
- 29:00trying to get At least, I'd say maybe to Meadeville
- 29:02from 79, you know. 79 from here to Meadeville
- 29:06is usually pretty fucking rough. Mostly between
- 29:1090 and Meadeville. So in theory, when it comes
- 29:13to our winner, it's unpredictable. Pittsburgh
- 29:17doesn't get a whole shit ton of snow. They maybe
- 29:20get usually maybe half the amount we get. They
- 29:22get the chill. Yeah, they still get the cold
- 29:24part of it. They get maybe half the amount of
- 29:26snow we usually get. And about a quarter of what
- 29:29Buffalo gets. Well actually, do you see that
- 29:33Erie's number, well as of right now, number two.
- 29:35Yeah, I don't know who beat us out. Syracuse.
- 29:37Was it Syracuse? By one inch right now. One inch.
- 29:40Which you know a lot about that, right? Hey,
- 29:44it's average size, okay? Anyways, Jeff kicks
- 29:48off. What do we got the rest of the OHL going
- 29:50on? Kind of an interesting fact that... In the
- 29:54last two months, the Kings and Frontenacs went
- 29:58undefeated in the month of January and February
- 30:0012 -0, and then contributed to a franchise record
- 30:03on home ice to a 14 -game win streak. On home
- 30:06ice? Yeah. In January and February? Yeah. That's
- 30:09pretty impressive. But between the two months,
- 30:12combined home and away, they were 12 -0. Wow.
- 30:16So that's kind of... In February? January and
- 30:18February. Combined 12 -0 all together. Yeah 12
- 30:22-0 between home and away games, but they're 14
- 30:26games They had on home ice in those two months
- 30:2914 -0 Wow So that was kind of really interesting
- 30:34Back on the 2nd of March Maple Leafs prospect
- 30:42Ethan Cohen gets his first career with Joe Hattrick
- 30:46versus the Oshawa Generals On the third thin
- 30:51hardening of the Bramford steel and signed a
- 30:53three -year entry -level Contra with the Pittsburgh
- 30:56pain one. I'm excited. I'm actually excited about
- 30:58very excited about a very you know way for Miss
- 31:01Saga or Brampton Sorry, let me check that. They
- 31:04only be the first time I've actually excellence
- 31:05in Mississauga this year He's actually he's had
- 31:08a average to a point point two per game this
- 31:12Wow, so this is he is in a way or that's what
- 31:15I'm actually checking That's why I'm kind of
- 31:23curious. He's in 05. His birthday was on the
- 31:372nd. So I thought that was... It was his birthday
- 31:43last recording day. So he'll be knowing next
- 31:48year. He's at like just a season loan. He's had
- 31:5255 points and he's a defenseman, isn't it? He's
- 31:55a pretty good defenseman in this league Yeah,
- 31:57a point like two like he's averaging two points
- 32:01per game in it Not two points per game Like I've
- 32:06I've kind of looked at recently like how many
- 32:08games has he played then? I Say in 61 games 55.
- 32:13Well, that's not two points per game. That's
- 32:15like point Oh, it's almost a point. Yeah, it's
- 32:18a very close to a point per game Yeah, I do like
- 32:22that signing a lot And we'll get we'll get to
- 32:26the rest of the training line here soon my thoughts
- 32:28on that for the penguins so But on the 4th of
- 32:32March on Trent Switt of the kitchen ranger center
- 32:363 entry -level contract with the Vegas Golden
- 32:39Knights Joe Willis at the Kingsbury finance center
- 32:443 entry -level contract with the Nashville Predators
- 32:48On March 5th, what do you insist on Carson Harmer's
- 32:53goal for the Saginaw Spirit? Calgary Flames Prospect
- 32:58Xanprecht becomes the all -time assist leader
- 33:00in Saginaw Spirit's franchise with 147 assists.
- 33:05Passing Vincent Trocheck vs. Flint. Vinny Trocheck
- 33:11with the Saginaw Spirit? Yeah. Really? Interesting.
- 33:14Honestly, he's one of two numbers in Saturn,
- 33:17so they have his number retired up there. Oh,
- 33:20wow. Yeah. I think that when they retired, it
- 33:25was like a few years ago, I know that, because
- 33:29they did Brandon Sod's last year. I remember
- 33:32that one, yeah. That's the only reason I knew
- 33:35they retired it, because they showed it next
- 33:38to his banner, so I didn't know that. Now on
- 33:44the sixth, Jacob Julian of the London Knights
- 33:47signed a three -year entry -level contract with
- 33:49the Winnipeg Jets. And then on the seventh, head
- 33:53coach Dale Hunter of the London Knights gets
- 33:55his 1 ,000th CHO win and is the second head coach
- 34:00to reach 1 ,000 wins versus Kingston Frontenac.
- 34:06Vegas Golden Knights prospect Trent Swick of
- 34:08the Kitchin Rangers played in his 200th career
- 34:11OHL game. And in that same game, Noam Maru of
- 34:16the Windsor Spitfire gets his first career, OHL
- 34:19Hat -Trek vs. Kitchener. Liam Beamish of the
- 34:23Sarnia Sting gets his first career, OHL Hat -Trek
- 34:26vs. the Guelph Storm. And Garrett Fraser of the
- 34:30Erie Islands gets his first career, OHL Gold
- 34:32vs. the O -17 Attack. That was actually a beautiful
- 34:36goal from the point. really nice and then on
- 34:45the eighth and his uh f -bomb at the pre post
- 34:48-game interview fucking cold fucking cold um
- 34:55and on the eighth washington capitals prospect
- 34:58patrick thomas of the brantford bulldogs playing
- 35:00in his 200th career ohl game and he became the
- 35:04all -time points layer in franchise with 251
- 35:07points Chicago Blacks prospect Nick Lardis the
- 35:12Brantford Bulldogs hits 70 goals and becomes
- 35:15the eighth player to hit that mark in the OHL
- 35:18and it's the first since John Tavares did it
- 35:21in the 2006 -2007 season. Hit 70. Yeah, okay
- 35:25hit 70 Then as of today's on the 9th Matthew
- 35:32Meech of the Otto 67 played in his 250th career
- 35:36OHL game versus the North Bay Battalion. Nick,
- 35:41I was actually telling Colin last night during
- 35:45the second intermission, I'm like, they've got
- 35:48Chicago has a good goal score coming up through
- 35:53their prospects on that. So he's gonna eventually.
- 35:59Yeah. And I mean, going back to Dale Hunter,
- 36:01I mean, as much as we talk shit on London, talk
- 36:03shit on Dale Hunter as a whole, the whole city
- 36:05of London as a whole. Got to give respect where
- 36:08respect is due. Dale Hunter, now thousand wins
- 36:11as a CHL head coach. Thousand games played in
- 36:14the NHL, thousand points in the NHL. So literally
- 36:16Mr. 1000 for Dale Hunter there. You've got to
- 36:19give props for props to do. Can't tell you there's
- 36:22a lot of people that have done that. He might
- 36:23be the only one who have ever done that. I don't
- 36:24know. Just how many future Hall of Famers and
- 36:29Stanley Cup champs that's been under his tenure.
- 36:32Gone up and got up to the bigs and won it. How
- 36:35many times has he won it with them? Four or three?
- 36:45Let's see. Can't remember on top of my head here.
- 37:00Okay, they've won me. Oh Joe championship 2005
- 37:0713 16 in black this just so fast was his fourth
- 37:11head coach Wow and they've won and he's won the
- 37:14Memorial Cup twice in 2005 and 2016 last year
- 37:19That's Didn't they win the they win the president's
- 37:24trophy or the like the team trophy last year,
- 37:27too. I Want I pretty sure they did last year.
- 37:31Yeah the Yeah, we're winning that back -to -back
- 37:35seasons now As much as we had to say man like
- 37:38they're they're the best team in the league for
- 37:40a reason There's a good chance that they might
- 37:42three Pete not three Pete repeat three Pete going
- 37:44back to the final, but They're definitely the
- 37:49team to beat though for sure oh easily this year
- 37:52Yeah, we can finally move on to the NHL. Do some
- 37:56Puk doku first or do you want to do you want
- 37:57to do blind raking since you already pulled it
- 37:58up first? Sure. Actually, we'll do the blind
- 38:05rankings after the NHL news. Okay. I didn't do
- 38:09any of my milestones this week, because there
- 38:11wasn't a whole lot, so I was going to do that
- 38:12until the next recording. Oh, okay. In that case,
- 38:15I will do Pai, Pafuoco, Hurdle first, and Jeffy
- 38:20has one, then. You do it again? Okay. We'll do
- 38:23Jeff Collins, blind ranking. So first we'll do
- 38:26Hurdle. Do a little different this week. Oh,
- 38:34easier. Damn it! What gave you that vibe? Just
- 38:38the hair? Yeah, the hair. We did this last time
- 38:43too. We got the division and position right off
- 38:45the bat and didn't get him. So, anybody but Tampa,
- 38:50a center, he's under the age of... Do you get
- 38:52some starting now? Fuck. He's younger than me,
- 38:55he's non -American, and his number is 56 or lower.
- 39:01He's not American Let's go to Florida and go
- 39:07to like a I don't know like Sam Reinhardt is
- 39:12Also 30 Oh It's Florida, let's go nice He was
- 39:2229. Okay. I thought he was right around 26. His
- 39:25number is somewhere between 16 to 56 ish Um,
- 39:30and he's still, he's below the age of 27, so
- 39:33he's 26 or younger. He's not American or Canadian,
- 39:36so he's not North American. No, going down the
- 39:40center core, the center, like the four centers
- 39:42in Florida. Sasha Barkov, I think, is older than
- 39:45that. Unless I want to say he's like 31 by now.
- 39:51Yeah, this number would line up, but not his
- 39:53age. And maybe his nationality. Yeah. You mean
- 40:02it could even be like a They live to him as a
- 40:04center, but he's playing winger right now. So
- 40:06it could be living any just about any for at
- 40:08this point It could be a list on here's a center,
- 40:12but he could be currently playing like one wing
- 40:14right now This isn't even updated bread much
- 40:18on We'll get there Chuckie's not a centerman.
- 40:25He's only a winger Yeah, I know Barcaw doesn't
- 40:32fit the age criteria. We could get it for...
- 40:36Try to get the nationality. He's what, Finnish
- 40:38or C -Swedish? Finnish. No, right. Yeah, Finnish.
- 40:42No, it's Finnish. So it is Finnish. He's a Finnish
- 40:45forward who is... Barcaw's also 29. Oh, well.
- 40:50So his number is now somewhere in 20 to 55 -ish?
- 40:57It's like, um... No, I think was him last week,
- 41:01but you'd do a surrounding or whatever Wasn't
- 41:04it? It was last week. Yeah, but it isn't he also
- 41:06finish Well, yeah, exactly Well, I mean we can
- 41:10always put it you do a surrounding and just to
- 41:13get a guess up there Okay, they didn't I don't
- 41:23think that they I feel like it was him last week,
- 41:25too or somebody with that long last name. Either
- 41:30way. We got it. Dope. He's a year and a half
- 41:36younger than me, isn't he? Wow. You're going
- 41:40to be 28 this year, aren't you? Shut the fuck
- 41:42up. Puck Doku. For the roads, we have St. Louis,
- 41:53Tampa Bay, and 20 plus goals in a season. And
- 41:56for the columns we got the Penguins, the Preds,
- 41:59and the Colorado Afflatch. So for the Preds we
- 42:02can do, well, Preds Blues we can do Ryan O 'Reilly.
- 42:08We can even go for Abbs Blues too. Abbs Blues
- 42:11as well. Penguins obviously, Penguins St. Louis
- 42:14obviously got Kevin Hayes. David Perron. David
- 42:16Perron, Robert Meduso. It's hard to think it
- 42:20wouldn't be a low percentage one. Bertuza would
- 42:23be at Brenton, no not Brenton tomorrow, because
- 42:25Brenton Mark came from Dallas back in the day.
- 42:29I feel like, I think Hayes would be pretty low
- 42:31too. Kev Hayes? It's been a while since he played
- 42:34for the Blues, because he was with the Flyers
- 42:36right before us. Yeah. So we can do Kev Hayes,
- 42:42yeah. 7 % yeah. Penguin's lightning, Rhyme Malone.
- 42:53That's right. Or we could go like a, like a Rouselon
- 42:56Fett, a tanko. 2%, yeah! And any penguin would
- 43:05ever have a 20 -goal season. I have a... That
- 43:11was Skeleton Yuck. Chris Curtis. Hold on, let
- 43:17me, let me pull the clip up. Alright, Sid. I
- 43:48had a splitter locked on, go ahead. How old are
- 43:53you? TK. Do you have your 20th season? I don't
- 43:58remember. I feel like he had to have. because
- 44:05he was it's probably second in line for a while
- 44:09uh or we could do uh stalsy we could do cookie
- 44:16uh we could do he was never a goalscorer he was
- 44:19just a piece of shit that's one thing when i
- 44:22have no problem admitting he was a piece of shit
- 44:24i he is he's by far my least favorite penguin
- 44:27for sure let's do stalsy jordan stahl and here's
- 44:33one for uh blues uh blues preds james neal yeah
- 44:39blues and preds he played for the blues for a
- 44:41very short like at the end of his career i'm
- 44:44like 95 percent sure i'm very i'm 95 sure yep
- 44:51okay also two percent should keep multi single
- 44:54digits here so i just don't want to go ryan riley
- 44:57there then yeah steve's damn close but it'll
- 44:59be a high percentage unfortunately for oh prez
- 45:02prez and yeah prez and lightninga Didn't McDonough
- 45:13go there briefly Ryan McDonough. Yeah, he's paid
- 45:16on on both that could be a lower one. Yeah, let's
- 45:19go Brian McDonough Probably double digits, but
- 45:28yeah, I thought I'd be a little lower Excuse
- 45:32me 20 goals for Nashville, which James Neal have
- 45:37done it there. We already used them. Never mind,
- 45:39Ken. Stupid. That 20 goal will score for Nashville.
- 45:46Or we throw back and do like a Mike Fisher. I
- 45:48said Mike Fisher, probably. Did he ever get 20
- 45:52in the season, though? I feel like he had to.
- 45:53He probably, he had to. Mike Fisher? I'm gonna
- 45:58say Mike Fisher. Five percent. Twenty goals for
- 46:09the Avs. This is one of those, like, you almost
- 46:16can't disrespect some of the current guys over
- 46:18there. McCarr, McKinnon. Landis Cog. Landis Cog
- 46:22ranting in. Well, not anymore. Well, still, I
- 46:26mean, he's on there, so... I don't know. We'll
- 46:32go with, like, um... I don't think Eric Johnson
- 46:35would have ever gotten 20. Um, let's go, uh,
- 46:42let's just go with Carr. Just keep it, given
- 46:44the respect he deserves, man. Still, I think
- 46:47Pied might be the best defenseman in the league
- 46:49right now. Marker. It's only a four percent?
- 46:52Alright, we're staying under that, under that
- 46:55single digit for most of them. Um, so, Avs. Top
- 47:03right corner, St. Louis, Colorado, could be O
- 47:07'Reilly. O 'Reilly, yeah. All right, let's forget
- 47:11to think of a lower percentage. That's what I'm
- 47:13trying to think, bro. I feel like a Brian Elliott.
- 47:17I don't think he ever played for... The Cavaliers.
- 47:19He's played for Tampa. Tampa Philly. Tampa Philly.
- 47:25Yeah, some of the greats. The Cavaliers, Tampa
- 47:29Philly. St. Louis Colton, is he on the abs right
- 47:33now? I don't know where he is. All I know is
- 47:35he's not on Tampa. I want to say Ross Colton
- 47:39is on the abs right now. I'm pretty sure it's
- 47:48Ross Colton. Has Darren Ratt's always been on
- 47:55Tampa? Yeah. Okay. Taylor actually and I spent
- 47:59a little bit time in Chicago He's been like up
- 48:03and down between I think and a John's be breaking
- 48:05down with Tampa, but like wasn't there long I'm
- 48:13not a hundred percent sure. I was called him,
- 48:15but I'm like I'm more sure than I am not sure
- 48:18I'll hear Yes, okay 20 % And then I think we
- 48:28have to do a rally just to get a set nine out
- 48:30of nine. Oh, okay, or don't type it in, that's
- 48:35fine. Ayan O 'Reilly, hell yeah. Nine percent.
- 48:39And you stats. Other players, we call it done.
- 48:43Casper, Kevin, first. We're easy, how did we
- 48:47forget that we're easy? Piotr Joseph. Oscar Sundquist.
- 48:50Tom Perassi. Noel Lachari played for St. Louis.
- 48:53Bill Guerin, Lars Owen. Brent Johnson, James
- 48:56Neal, Ian Cole, Ian Stemniak, Thomas Christ,
- 48:59Jay McKee, Bo Bennett Bo Bennett went for the
- 49:02blues? Dagestini, quite a few people What about
- 49:07Penguin's Lady? I want to see that one too Tony,
- 49:11we said him earlier too Sheery, Malone, Recky,
- 49:14Rudi, Yusey Okunen, Fesitanko, Ian Cole, Brian
- 49:18Boyles, Dominguez, Gary Roberts, Daryl Svador
- 49:24Steve Downey, Brendan Morrow, Craig McKay, Chris
- 49:30Joseph, not Kujo unfortunately. They keep spelling
- 49:37Gino's name wrong. I know they keep doing the
- 49:40Russian spelling of it. Let's do the pyramid.
- 49:46I don't think we've done that one in a little
- 49:47bit. Fuck. Let's see what we can do here. Any
- 49:52abs player ever Curtis McDermott Just throw it
- 49:58out there cuz I don't think he fit anywhere else
- 50:01in that board set Abs that have played 500 games
- 50:08um Eric Johnson I say Eric Johnson Joe Sackick.
- 50:22He won a cup? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What's the nationality?
- 50:26Would he fit the top of the board? Did he play
- 50:28for Carolina? He played for Quebec. The only
- 50:35one that I'm confident with... Oh, never mind.
- 50:38I can't even say it. What's Sackick's nationality?
- 50:41Is he just Canadian? I don't know. Oh. Let's
- 50:50finish these two and then we can use a hint for
- 50:54those last two. So let's just finish these next
- 50:56two. Well, I'm thinking the only one for the
- 50:59top could be Mikko Rantinen. Stanley Cup winner.
- 51:05He's Finnish. He's paid on both Colorado and
- 51:10Carolina. The only one that concerns me is the
- 51:1680 -plus season on any team. That's probably
- 51:20has but So let's just do it for sure then that
- 51:28we know let's do Say mckinnon We know he's had
- 51:34any one way knowing do mccarr mccarr. No, he
- 51:36hasn't had 500 games played yet He's still in
- 51:39the mid for mid to late 400. He's gonna he's
- 51:41getting close. So do you need anything? Artists
- 51:44I'm not confident So do I say the land is called
- 51:50for that do land is called first. Yeah, I could
- 51:52good catch do land is called first and then name
- 51:54back It's not a hundred percent sure that land
- 51:58is hugs in 80 -point season either I mean, I
- 52:01know McKinnon has yeah, obviously. It's 30 year
- 52:04in a row doing it now fourth year in a row Okay,
- 52:11so naturally this one where we can do rent in
- 52:14but again has he Has he done 80 points in a season?
- 52:22We know Sakek has, but what's Sakek's nationality?
- 52:26So we'll use a hint here. Good lifeline. Player
- 52:30card, fill in the blank, or 50 -50. Let's do
- 52:32fill in the blank. Teemo. Oh, Teemo, yeah. When
- 52:39did he play for the fucking Avs? Was it before
- 52:43his time? Is it before he went to Anaheim this
- 52:45month? Maybe. Then who's that top one? Is that
- 52:51going to be Zac Ick or is that going to be, it
- 52:53can't be, it can't be Zac Ick. If they're counting
- 52:55the Nordiques as well, I feel like it should
- 52:58be Zac Ick. But again, I'm not 100 % sure on
- 53:00his nationality. Do we want to lose another lifeline?
- 53:05Do we want to lose another lifeline, do 50 -50?
- 53:07Why don't you give us Zac Ick or Rantanen? Yeah,
- 53:11let's do 50 -50. Rantanen or Curry? Rantanen,
- 53:15yeah, okay. I just want, it's just the 80 point
- 53:18season was scaring me. Granton's the only answer
- 53:21for the top one. Yeah. And then yeah, Timu Uri.
- 53:25Currier. Now that it's, now that it's gone, what
- 53:28is Sakeke's nationality? I know his last name's
- 53:30a trickster, so I think he is only just Canadian.
- 53:34Yeah, he is, okay, Sakekeke is Canadian. His
- 53:36name just turns you off. From Burnaby, Canada.
- 53:43went two for two i was right though on the nordiques
- 53:46avalanche franchise for some reason i thought
- 53:47the no the wailers turned into the harry rogans
- 53:50right okay for some reason i would have been
- 53:53wrong so i thought the nordiques was on carolina
- 53:57no because they literally want me right after
- 54:00they moved from quebec they wanted to stay in
- 54:03the cup in colorado that's right yeah cool all
- 54:07right colin's wine drinking time what do we got
- 54:10this week on all right let me pull it up so it's
- 54:15actually kind of fitting for this week because
- 54:20it's trade deadline players who have traded this
- 54:27past trade deadline just specifically this past
- 54:30trade deadline yeah specifically this past trade
- 54:31deadline so many big names he could not give
- 54:37us so many small names he could give us Alright,
- 54:42I'm sorry. Not that this trade deadline, but
- 54:46this NHL calendar year. So it could be anywhere
- 54:50between July 1st of 2024 to... current day. Well,
- 54:57yesterday. Or, I'm sorry, to March 7th of 2025.
- 55:04First up, Mackenzie Blackwood. To, I believe
- 55:10it's to Colorado. Colorado because they got both
- 55:13Scott Wedgwood and and black wood so from San
- 55:16Jose to Colorado No disrespect, but is this a
- 55:25five right off the bat I Think so because it
- 55:30was I mean Do we want to do it for because I'd
- 55:33be safe with him being four or five before just
- 55:35in case he gives us like an absolute garbage
- 55:38name Yeah So you want to go four or do you want
- 55:40to go five? I want to go, I'll say four. Four.
- 55:44Okay. Alright, next up. Capo Caco. From the New
- 55:54York Rangers to Seattle. Okay, okay. I mean,
- 55:59he's a good middle of the pack player, especially
- 56:03who could have been dealt this year. I know multiple
- 56:06times he was rumored. recent years he was rumored
- 56:09to be traded so like those kind of somewhat expected
- 56:14I think the timing wasn't it was like boom out
- 56:18of nowhere boom cap guy goes what does that fuck
- 56:20um I'd say three yeah three I think that's a
- 56:25perfect thing middle of the pact middle of the
- 56:27pact guy I don't know where the fuck he spells
- 56:33name Alright, number three on the list. From
- 56:42Chicago to Florida, Seth Jones. And he's better
- 56:50than Kako for sure. But is he worth number two
- 56:54on this list? There's honestly, realistically,
- 56:58out of everybody that was traded this year, I
- 56:59can only think of maybe one or two off the top
- 57:01of my head that could be above Seth Jones. Knowing
- 57:05this asshole, he could give us both of those
- 57:07two players or he could give us neither one of
- 57:09them. There's one that is so super obvious I
- 57:14feel like he might not give us. I almost want
- 57:21to put him at one because of that. I feel like
- 57:24he might not give us, you know what I'm talking
- 57:26about too, that he might not give us. I fucking
- 57:36love torturing you guys, I'm not gonna lie. I
- 57:38mean, honestly, I mean, yes, the guy I'm thinking
- 57:40of is better than Seth Jones, but I wouldn't
- 57:42be irate if we put Jones over him. I'll leave
- 57:48you the final call of one or two. Two. Two, okay.
- 58:04Number four on the list, Miko Brantanen from
- 58:09Colorado to Carolina. Why are you specifically
- 58:15saying from Colorado to Carolina? Well, because
- 58:24obviously all the shit that went down in Carolina
- 58:27and I didn't want to say from Carolina to Dallas
- 58:30because we've only seen him in one game thus
- 58:31far with Dallas. We have more info on Carolina
- 58:35than we do Dallas. Again, he could. That's one
- 58:40of them, too. That's one of those two that I
- 58:41was thinking of. That's the other one that he
- 58:43could. And if he does, he's in clear number one.
- 58:47And he's not a number five. But I'm sure Collin
- 58:50would be fine if we put him at five. I don't
- 58:54know. I might. I mean, Renton is not a five,
- 58:56though, but he's not really a one. I fucking
- 59:06love torching you guys. I hope we know I fucking
- 59:09love it You're calling this one this time One
- 59:46Oh, you're such a jackass. Yeah, you're such
- 59:49a jackass. I'm gonna black out the screen so
- 59:54we can't see it. Oh, you're such an asshole.
- 59:58You're such a jackass. Number five. Okay, okay.
- 1:00:15Whoo! Me, Kelly Grandin. I'm okay. That's honestly
- 1:00:18a perfect list. There could be argument for one
- 1:00:23and two to be swapped. I know some people would
- 1:00:24argue probably. Honestly, I think that might
- 1:00:27be one of our most perfect lists we've had so
- 1:00:29far. Yeah. Three and four probably. Again, we
- 1:00:31could have some argument there. I'm not gonna
- 1:00:35lie, I was thinking about doing six on this list
- 1:00:37instead of five. Just because of Brad Marshawn.
- 1:00:41That's the one. I was like, right at the end
- 1:00:43of Marshawn, I'm like, he's gonna give us both
- 1:00:45of them or he's not gonna give us either one.
- 1:00:48That's honestly perfect. That might be our most
- 1:00:50perfect one so far. I'm honestly not disappointed
- 1:00:54with that one. I fucking love torching you guys.
- 1:00:56I hope you know. I'll take that. I'm not disappointed
- 1:00:58with that one. Now into the only reason, well
- 1:01:03not the only reason, but the biggest reason why
- 1:01:06we got together on this recording evening is
- 1:01:11for the review of the trade deadline. We're going
- 1:01:15back to March 4th because that was the first
- 1:01:17trade post our last recording, or even our last
- 1:01:23release, so here we go. March 4th. Oilers require
- 1:01:29Trent Frederick, Martin Jones, and Max Trotz.
- 1:01:33Max Jones, sorry. In a three -team trade also
- 1:01:37involving the Bruins and the Devils. Boston requires
- 1:01:41a prospect, a second round pick in 25, and a
- 1:01:45fourth round pick in 26. And New Jersey requires
- 1:01:49a prospect. On March 5th, the Florida Panthers
- 1:01:55acquired goalie Bittek Manichak from the San
- 1:01:58Jose Sharks for Patrick Gillis. As well on the
- 1:02:055th, Tampa Bay Lightning acquired four Auburn
- 1:02:08Bjorkstein, Yanni Gord, and Defense McCaugh for
- 1:02:12multiple picks. This was a three -way trade with
- 1:02:18Detroit. Seattle acquires Michael Emson multiple
- 1:02:24picks and then Detroit acquires a fourth and
- 1:02:29fifth on four front pick in 2025 On March 5th

- 1:02:50round pick in the 26 draft from the Pittsburgh

- 1:02:55and for Tommy Novak. Pittsburgh legends. Pittsburgh
- 1:02:59led two legends right there, Luke Schenn and
- 1:03:01Vince D 'Arnais. All right, starting on the 6th,
- 1:03:08the, well, it's the Panthers acquired Sturm in
- 1:03:11the 7th and 27 for San Jose. To from she knows
- 1:03:14a four fourth rounder in 26 the Devils acquire
- 1:03:19defenseman do Brian Dumlin From Anaheim for a
- 1:03:23prospect and a second round pick in 25 On this
- 1:03:31also on the six on Winnipeg Jets acquire New
- 1:03:36Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Brian already
- 1:03:38did. Yeah, you're right. You're doing a bitch.
- 1:03:40That's one. Okay Winnipeg Jacks acquire Chris
- 1:03:44Dryders from the Florida Panthers for goalie
- 1:03:47Kaepo Kaepkenen. And then on, then the Vegas
- 1:03:55Golden Knights acquire Riley Smith from the New
- 1:03:57York Rangers for Brendan Brinson and a third
- 1:04:01round pick in the 2025 draft. Also on the six,
- 1:04:07Rangers acquire defenseman Carson Sussie from
- 1:04:09Vancouver for a third round pick. There's another
- 1:04:11one on the sixth, the Wilde acquired Justin Brazot
- 1:04:14in exchange for Murat Kushdynikov and Jacob Vlachko
- 1:04:18in a sixth round pick. And then also on the sixth,
- 1:04:22Colorado Avalanche acquired Fords Brock Nelson
- 1:04:24and William Dufour from the New York Islanders
- 1:04:32in exchange for Fords Callum Ritchie, defenseman
- 1:04:35Oliver Killington, and a first round pick in
- 1:04:3726 or 27. and a third round in 28th. The New
- 1:04:43York Times trade really in da four. Skip forward
- 1:04:48to March 7th. The Oilers acquire Jake Wolman.
- 1:04:52I don't like that guy. I don't like, I don't
- 1:04:55like, I think it's just his goal celebration.
- 1:04:58Are we gonna hit the gritties in professional?
- 1:05:00Like no. You're a professional. You don't gritty.
- 1:05:06Anyway, the Oilers require Jay Qualman from San
- 1:05:08Jose for a conditional first -round pick in the
- 1:05:1126th draft for Prospect, as well as on the 7th.
- 1:05:16The Capitals require Anthony Bolivier from the
- 1:05:19Penguins in exchange for a second -round pick
- 1:05:22in the 2025 NHL drafts. Fleece! Get fleece Washington!
- 1:05:29On the 7th, Ottawa Senators require for Dylan

- 1:05:35round pick to the 2026 NHL Draft from the Sabres
- 1:05:41and the Sabres receive Josh Norris and defenseman
- 1:05:44Jacob Bernard Docker. It's not not a bad move
- 1:05:48honestly there. I don't I don't hate that one.
- 1:05:51Also on the 7th the Kings of Choir well everyone
- 1:05:54from here on out is was on the 7th on on Deadlight
- 1:05:56Day. The Kings of Choir Andrei Kuzmenko in the
- 1:05:597th round pick in the 25 draft from the Flyers
- 1:06:01in exchange for a third in the 27 draft. The
- 1:06:05Jets acquire defensemen legend the Luke Shen
- 1:06:08from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a second and
- 1:06:1026th and a fourth and 27 again fleece fleece
- 1:06:15by kind of do this And here here's here's one
- 1:06:18that Ethan is really really excited about and
- 1:06:21shared in one of our chats He's quite in the
- 1:06:25the minority. I know a lot of fans aren't happy
- 1:06:27with this one I'm not surprised. Yeah, but It's
- 1:06:31Ethan. Yeah, Ethan's always a special lad. The
- 1:06:35Red Wings acquired Gold Tender, Peter Moravzic,
- 1:06:39and Ford Craigsmith from Chicago for Ford, Joey
- 1:06:43Vleno, and the Winnipeg Jets re -acquired Ford,
- 1:06:49Brandon Tanna from Seattle Kraken for a second
- 1:06:52-round pick in the 2027 NHL draft. Ethan would
- 1:06:55be like, fuck yeah, we got Milano Luci! Oh, yeah!
- 1:07:03Fuck yeah, boss! Yeah, we just got a 63 -year
- 1:07:08-old Wayne Grant's game! Yeah, we got Gordy Howell!
- 1:07:14God rest his soul! The Toronto Maple Leafs acquire
- 1:07:22for Scott Lanton for a fourth round in the 2025
- 1:07:26and then a sixth round in the 2027. And while
- 1:07:31Philly requires Nikita, Grebkin, and a first
- 1:07:37round pick of the 2027 draft. I'm trying to look
- 1:07:42for the bigger names here. No offense to all
- 1:07:45of these smaller bottom six guys, but... Well,
- 1:07:48I was going to say you got Charlie... Colorado
- 1:07:50advantage required for Charlie Coyle and the...
- 1:07:53fifth round pick in the 2026 draft from the Boston
- 1:07:55Bruins in exchange for Casey Middlestadt, William
- 1:07:58Zellers, and a second round pick in, excuse me,
- 1:08:01in 2025. As well as Colorado Avalanche acquiring
- 1:08:06defenseman Eric Johnson from the Philadelphia
- 1:08:07Flyers for forward Giovanni Smith. Boston sold
- 1:08:13heavily. It was nice for them to sell as much
- 1:08:17as they did. The Blackhawks acquire, I've Prospect
- 1:08:23and Victor Soderblom and Shay Weber's contract
- 1:08:27from the Utah Hockey Club for a fifth down, taking
- 1:08:3126. Shay Weber, Utah Hockey Club legend. Arizona
- 1:08:35Hockey Club legend. Legend. That would be Chicago
- 1:08:39Blackhawks legend. And then the second part of
- 1:08:44this, the Stars acquire Rankin from the Hurricanes
- 1:08:47for Prospect of conditional first two. Conditional
- 1:08:52first round picks, one in 26 and one in 28, a
- 1:08:55third round pick in 26, and a third round pick
- 1:08:58in 27. That's one of the bigger ones of this
- 1:09:04deadline. We talked about that just now in the
- 1:09:07blind rankings. Obviously not the biggest one,
- 1:09:09but one of the biggest ones of this deadline.
- 1:09:17I'm just trying to see which ones are somewhat...
- 1:09:20If you just want to do those next three just
- 1:09:22quickly. All right, New Jersey Devils acquired
- 1:09:25for Cody Glass and John Gruden from Pittsburgh
- 1:09:29Penguins for fours Chase Stillman and Max Graham
- 1:09:33for a third round pick in 2007. The Carolina
- 1:09:38Hurricanes acquired for Mark Jankowski from the
- 1:09:41Nashville Predators for a fifth round pick in
- 1:09:432026. Penguins legend. New Jersey acquires forward
- 1:09:48Daniel Sprong from the Seattle Kraken for a seventh
- 1:09:51round pick in 2026. Keeping it going, Ottawa
- 1:09:59Senators acquired forwards Fabian Zetterlund
- 1:10:01and Tristan Robbins in a fourth round pick in
- 1:10:032025, in exchange to the Sharks for forwards
- 1:10:06Zach Ostupchuk and Noah Grigor in a second round
- 1:10:09pick in 2025. Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defensemen
- 1:10:13Connor Timmons and forward Connor Dewar. from
- 1:10:16the Toronto Maple Leafs for a fifth -round pick
- 1:10:18in 2025, which I believe they are part of a three
- 1:10:22-team trade, which I think was also involving
- 1:10:27the Bruins. So I think this one was included
- 1:10:29in the Carlo trade, which Colin will get to here.
- 1:10:32Yeah, right now. Toronto will acquire defenseman
- 1:10:37Brendan Carville from the Bruins for a prospect,
- 1:10:42a conditional first round 26, and a fourth round
- 1:10:45pick and the 2025 drafts. Now, the last one that
- 1:10:49we're going to be going over, I think, is the
- 1:10:51tipping point of why we decided to record the
- 1:10:56third last trade to be declared officially. March,
- 1:11:03not March, Florida Panthers acquire Ford Brad
- 1:11:09the Rat Marchan from the Boston Bruins for its
- 1:11:14conditional second round pick in 2027. For a
- 1:11:19second round pick? Second round. Conditional.
- 1:11:22Conditional. That's just absolutely insane. Honestly,
- 1:11:30he didn't tell on my radar that Marshawn was
- 1:11:33on the trading block at all. I did not honestly
- 1:11:38see that one. I heard some rumors, but it was
- 1:11:43definitely not on my radar whatsoever. Can someone
- 1:11:47tell me what that second line could look like?
- 1:11:50Chucky, Sam Bennett, and Brad Marshawn. That
- 1:11:54is going to be the most... Hated line in the
- 1:11:58history of hockey. Three of the four most hated
- 1:12:02players currently in the NHL right now. I don't
- 1:12:05think it's talked about enough. He should be
- 1:12:08more hated than he is. I think he's a little
- 1:12:09rat bastard, not to be punny there. But you got
- 1:12:14three of the four, assuming everybody's healthy
- 1:12:16and everything. obviously number four being Tom
- 1:12:19Wilson but that is going to be easily the most
- 1:12:23hated probably the most feared line in this upcoming
- 1:12:25playoffs like that is going to be a scary fucking
- 1:12:29line to play against. I just can't wait to see
- 1:12:34it. I mean two of those three can be really good
- 1:12:37goal scorers obviously being Brad Marshawn and
- 1:12:39Ted Chuck. Bennett just being that one to just
- 1:12:41get in your fucking face get off my team you
- 1:12:43know make a play if he needs to. And then obviously
- 1:12:45the two gold scores can obviously drop the gloves
- 1:12:47and throw some fists if they need to as well.
- 1:12:51That is going to be a scary line when everybody's
- 1:12:55healthy. A top six even of Verhege, Barkov, Reinhardt,
- 1:12:59and then Chucky, Bennett, and Marchand. Oh my
- 1:13:04god. Oh man. The thing is, with all the acquisitions
- 1:13:10that they made... Now the gold tandem of VTig
- 1:13:15Bandichuk and Sergey Bobrovsky. Can we see this
- 1:13:17team repeating? They will be in consideration
- 1:13:21for repeating them. I can very easily see it.
- 1:13:24That's also assuming, you know, if they can come
- 1:13:27out of the Atlantic unscathed. If they can make
- 1:13:30it to the conference finals unscathed. That's
- 1:13:34the thing obviously we saw Matthew the Chuck
- 1:13:36Tampa is looking really good to get in this year
- 1:13:38I can not I can see them having the chance to
- 1:13:40make it back They might be at least a lot better
- 1:13:42contenders like compared to last year against
- 1:13:44Florida I mean we all know what happens every
- 1:13:46time they make it But you have to give credit
- 1:13:48to where credits due Toronto is looking really
- 1:13:50good this year Like I said, we all know what
- 1:13:52usually happens, but they are but still they're
- 1:13:54looking really good right now I think they're
- 1:13:57second in the Atlantic. I think top three. I
- 1:13:58think it goes Florida Toronto Tampa or Florida
- 1:14:01Tampa Toronto Florida, Toronto, Tampa, top three.
- 1:14:08Ottawa is in the number four spot. Ottawa? They've
- 1:14:12been actually, honestly, quietly good. They're
- 1:14:15in the wild card spot right now. Yeah, Florida,
- 1:14:18Toronto, Tampa, Ottawa, Detroit, Montreal, Boston,
- 1:14:22and Buffalo. Wow. And honestly, like, everybody
- 1:14:26- Boston's second to last in that division? And
- 1:14:29honestly, like, everybody's in that hunt, you
- 1:14:31know. Looking at the rest of the East there,
- 1:14:37I think the two that are in the wild card spot,
- 1:14:40Columbus and Ottawa, and the teams to follow
- 1:14:42are honestly within striking distance. You've
- 1:14:46got the Rangers, Detroit, Montreal, Boston, and
- 1:14:49the Islanders. Realistically are all within striking
- 1:14:52range of that second wild card spot. I can't
- 1:14:56see the Islanders, I mean I don't know if they
- 1:14:59win their game. tonight against Anaheim and maybe
- 1:15:04Boston, I really can't see many teams striking
- 1:15:08to get to the second -longer spot. But my God,
- 1:15:14that... Back on track, if Florida can get through
- 1:15:20the first two rounds unscathed, they are going
- 1:15:24to go all the way. Getting past that Atlantic
- 1:15:27division. Whoever comes out on top... will win
- 1:15:31the Stanley Cup because they are the division
- 1:15:33to beat them. Yeah and that's weird they usually
- 1:15:35used to be the Metro was the the division to
- 1:15:38beat and it seems to me you know Washington was
- 1:15:41winning every year Pittsburgh the Rangers were
- 1:15:43on a really good stretch or even Philly was on
- 1:15:45a good stretch for a while there Columbus had
- 1:15:46a good couple years there. Well it seems to be
- 1:15:49rotating every couple years I mean I think from
- 1:15:522010 to 2015 when those cups were raised it was
- 1:15:55between the central because Chicago in the Pacific
- 1:16:00with LA and then it switched over to the Metro
- 1:16:03from 15 to 20. The 16 standing cup to probably
- 1:16:09about the 19 standing cup when the Metro is pretty
- 1:16:12dominant and now the Atlantic has kind of taken
- 1:16:15over from 20 to now where you know you got Tampa
- 1:16:18in three consecutive years and you got Florida
- 1:16:20back -to -back years so it's gonna change here
- 1:16:23soon but watch out for the fucking Atlantic man.
- 1:16:28A very scary division this year, man. And I mean,
- 1:16:33some of the teams that are improving heavily,
- 1:16:35like Detroit has obviously been improving, doing
- 1:16:37nothing but that the past four seasons. Ottawa's
- 1:16:40starting to look really good. Montreal is starting
- 1:16:43to kind of show signs of life and signs of hope.
- 1:16:46The only one not is Buffalo, because it's Buffalo.
- 1:16:49But we're going to be going back there, officially
- 1:16:52going back to Penguins versus Sabres. Again,
- 1:16:55getting the first time in like two years that
- 1:16:56we're going to a... Which we'll talk about that
- 1:17:00more once the time comes. We should have another
- 1:17:05recording by the time that happens. We'll talk
- 1:17:08about it more next recording. Real quickly before
- 1:17:12we get wrapped up here, some winners and losers
- 1:17:14of this year's trade demo. Winners, Florida Panthers.
- 1:17:19Florida I think is the clear kind of winner.
- 1:17:23Toronto's up there, too, getting Brandon Karlo
- 1:17:25and getting Scott Lofton. I know Steve Dangle
- 1:17:27is kind of losing his mind there a little bit,
- 1:17:30because he's like, what are you doing? You gotta
- 1:17:31do something there, Toronto. And all of a sudden
- 1:17:35later on, Scott Lofton's a Toronto main! And
- 1:17:38then Brandon Karlo's a Toronto main! I know he
- 1:17:44wasn't too happy about Timmons and Dewar coming
- 1:17:46over to Pittsburgh. Obviously that's... Kyle
- 1:17:49Dubas' team. Some of those boys I know. He had
- 1:17:52tenons both in Toronto and in Sioux. And then
- 1:17:57Dewar just very briefly in Toronto as well. I
- 1:18:00don't know, he drafted. I believe he drafted
- 1:18:01both of those guys. Dallas is another big winner,
- 1:18:06I feel like, just because... Branson in alone
- 1:18:08makes them a winner, yeah. Yeah, and then obviously
- 1:18:10you got some supportive cast around them, but
- 1:18:12you know, Mikko Branson is gonna make that top
- 1:18:16six. a whole lot more dangerous outside, you
- 1:18:18know, outside of Jason Robinson, outside of,
- 1:18:22you know, Jordan Cairo, outside of, uh, white
- 1:18:26Johnson, white Johnson. Like that's, you, you
- 1:18:29got your big four forwards right there. You were,
- 1:18:32they can be really scary. I think the number
- 1:18:34one, like sleeper winner honestly is Pittsburgh.
- 1:18:37The amount of draft picks that we got back in
- 1:18:39this, you know, we've got a lot of young getting
- 1:18:41some young talent in. to, you know, make up that
- 1:18:43bottom six who's still pretty old for being bottom
- 1:18:46six. I think we're asleep. I wouldn't say we're
- 1:18:49top, like, five -winner. We are a sleeper. A
- 1:18:51sleeper -winner. Like, uh, not enough people
- 1:18:53are talking about the amount of work Dubus did.
- 1:18:55I'm on their side with what Dubus names the dude.
- 1:19:00Over the next three drafts, we have 18 picks
- 1:19:04in the first three rounds. That is - that's ridiculous.
- 1:19:07That is insane. I also say that I think the third
- 1:19:10winner on my list is Colorado. They got EJ back,
- 1:19:15which that's a big bolster veteran presence.
- 1:19:17They got Brock Nelson, too. That's a veteran
- 1:19:20name, very tough guy to fill in here. Probably
- 1:19:23like maybe second to third line there. Yeah,
- 1:19:26mid six, especially with Ramoscoq being out now
- 1:19:29for possibly forever. You need somebody to fill
- 1:19:32in behind A -Mac and Nelson could be that guy.
- 1:19:35Not long term, but for now. I think very easily
- 1:19:40to choose the losers being The Boston Bruins.
- 1:19:44Boston. Buffalo. Buffalo, I mean, they didn't
- 1:19:47do much. I mean, they got rid of Dylan Cousins.
- 1:19:49I mean, that's probably one of your sleeper best
- 1:19:52players on that team. Well, you got, you lost
- 1:19:55Cousins, but you gave Norris, so it's like, it's
- 1:19:58kind of a wash. Can we really say anything that
- 1:20:02didn't do anything a loser? because they didn't
- 1:20:04do anything. They didn't do anything. The Sharks,
- 1:20:06I know, didn't do a whole lot at all. The only
- 1:20:09team that I can think of as losers outside of
- 1:20:12Boston is the New York Islanders. They did something.
- 1:20:16They traded away Brock Nelson. They did something.
- 1:20:20The Devils got a bunch of them already. The Devils
- 1:20:23got a couple of nice guys, but I mean the best
- 1:20:25player that I can name off the top of my head
- 1:20:27is Brian Dumalin. That's the best player you
- 1:20:29could acquire. They got a second or third pair
- 1:20:33in defense, man. They got Cody Glass in that
- 1:20:36trade. I believe Cody Glass is appointed to New
- 1:20:39Jersey. And they got another former penguin being
- 1:20:43Daniel Sprong, too, I believe. But again, those
- 1:20:46are the three best names that you can mention.
- 1:20:49I'm just not impressed by New Jersey's trade
- 1:20:53line. I'll say another one that's kind of like
- 1:20:56a sleeper loser. The Rangers. They did not get
- 1:21:01much and they did not get rid of much they just
- 1:21:03kind of Brought in brought in a couple guys that
- 1:21:05early and lost a couple guys that are just eh
- 1:21:08Well you when you lose you your four big names
- 1:21:11Capo Caco Riley Smith Jacob Truba Ryan Gremlin
- 1:21:16Lindgren, you know, I feel like they're those
- 1:21:19guys are more Losers they brought in the Rangers.
- 1:21:22They bring in Carson Suzy. Oh They get rid of
- 1:21:26Riley Smith. Oh The rest of it is going back
- 1:21:30to where he's kind of shining where he's kind
- 1:21:31of blown his whole career being in Vegas and
- 1:21:33they honestly He wants to be in Vegas. He really
- 1:21:37like he wants to retire as a misfit per se He
- 1:21:40wants to retire as a gold man. So it makes sense
- 1:21:44for him to go back to Vegas But and one last
- 1:21:47sleeper winner for me is the Tampa Bay late They
- 1:21:50brought in Johnny Gordon bring in Johnny bring
- 1:21:52Johnny gourd bag bringing in Oliver Bjork strain
- 1:21:54is really gonna help in there on the back end
- 1:21:56there I get some veteran help to get some veteran
- 1:21:58help there besides headman Yeah, I mean I can
- 1:22:02spy see probably playing on the second line probably
- 1:22:04with pile of their radish to be honest We're
- 1:22:06even put an extra churn act But I mean, yeah,
- 1:22:10this is this it was a very exciting and the first
- 1:22:13couple hours of deadline day We're like is any
- 1:22:16we gonna get anything today? Well, you know,
- 1:22:17I don't think anything really started happening
- 1:22:19till about 11, 12 o 'clock. Dude, I woke up at
- 1:22:22like 7, 38 o 'clock that morning, turned on my
- 1:22:24TV, and I started waiting for trains and shit.
- 1:22:25Like, nothing started happening until like 12,
- 1:22:271 o 'clock. And all of a sudden, boom, boom,
- 1:22:30boom, boom, boom. I was like, holy shit. And
- 1:22:32obviously, the biggest one, Brad Marshawn going
- 1:22:34to Florida, was just completely unexpected. I
- 1:22:39mean, there was rumors out, but I didn't believe
- 1:22:40it, because rumors are rumors. I was like, there's
- 1:22:42no shot they're gonna give to Marshawn. Actually,
- 1:22:44our grandfather texted me earlier in the day.
- 1:22:46I think he... around like nine o 'clock. He was
- 1:22:49like, hey, do you think Marshawn's gonna land
- 1:22:50anywhere? And I was like, no, like, I doubt it.
- 1:22:54I mean, nobody's gonna want to pick up his contract,
- 1:22:55especially at his age. Boy, was I friggin' wrong.
- 1:22:58I said, there's no shot. There's no shot Boston's
- 1:23:01getting rid of him. But then boom, all of a sudden,
- 1:23:04within the last 30 minutes, they're like, Brad
- 1:23:06Marshawn's going to Florida. I was like, that's
- 1:23:07why. I texted them, I was like, aw, guys, Brad
- 1:23:09Marshawn's going to Florida. They're like, what?
- 1:23:12I was like, he was shot. That's why I didn't
- 1:23:14have Marshawn on my... I did not see it happening
- 1:23:19at all, but obviously it happened. Surprise!
- 1:23:25There's one more thing that I wanted to mention.
- 1:23:27I already forgot it, like, just now. There's
- 1:23:34one last thing I wanted to bring up, but I can't
- 1:23:35remember it now. I thought it had to do with
- 1:23:37Martian, but... Oh yeah, we did ask these guys
- 1:23:41before briefly, like, who's gonna be the next
- 1:23:43captain of Boston? With you guys said pasta and
- 1:23:47said he doesn't want to he doesn't write it What
- 1:23:49coincided and actually know that he didn't want
- 1:23:52to be capped? I know I did pasta doesn't completely
- 1:23:54forgot about him, which is kind of embarrassing.
- 1:23:57He's obviously the best player in that team now
- 1:23:59The only other player that comes to mind is Charlie
- 1:24:02McEvoy Say you're rocking kind of rockin pasta.
- 1:24:06So it's gonna be you know see Mac over there.
- 1:24:09We probably see like I mean Let me pull up the
- 1:24:12roster right now just just in case we're missing
- 1:24:14some any other name. I mean some of the other
- 1:24:15ones that we could have. Brandon Karlo. Nope,
- 1:24:18he's gone. Trent Frederick could have been maybe
- 1:24:21an A. Nope, he's gone. No jokes on you. Current
- 1:24:28roster. One name's a pop up or that pop out.
- 1:24:33Pasternak. McAvoy. That's about it. Pavel Zaka,
- 1:24:41I can see him maybe getting an A, maybe. He's
- 1:24:45been there for a little bit. How long has he
- 1:24:49been there? He's been there for three, four,
- 1:24:50this is fourth year there now, so, or third season
- 1:24:52there. Depending, I've seen maybe three, four
- 1:24:55years down the road, if he stays there, Casey
- 1:24:57Middlestad can maybe eventually become an A.
- 1:25:00Yeah, but. I think he was one when he was up
- 1:25:03in Buffalo, like an A, but that was. No, that's
- 1:25:07here or best here the other one I can see that
- 1:25:09may be giving the seat to just because of Experience
- 1:25:13is Lindholm Elias Lindholm. He I'm sorry, but
- 1:25:18I thought he's he's 30. He's definitely I think
- 1:25:21he can definitely be an a without a doubt being
- 1:25:23a I think you can the see I don't know but as
- 1:25:26of right now in my personal opinion the clear
- 1:25:28-cut captain Should be passed up, but he doesn't
- 1:25:30want to you see you have an a he has a nice So
- 1:25:34I say the two a's would probably be Linholm and
- 1:25:37Pasta, C going to McAvoy. Maybe giving like a
- 1:25:42fill -in A to Hampus -Linholm, but other than
- 1:25:46that I think really only the other clear -cut
- 1:25:48C, to be without questions. To be C. To be C.
- 1:25:53Is C Charlie McAvoy. Yep. Other than that, there's
- 1:25:58not a whole lot. Hampus -Linholm, they probably
- 1:26:00could find some arguments for that. To be C,
- 1:26:03C McAvoy. Yeah. I kind of laughed at Ethan. I
- 1:26:10remember he brought it up in one of our chats.
- 1:26:12He was like, this might be the first time Boston
- 1:26:15actually won't be hateable. I think he said Boston
- 1:26:20became a lot less hateable. It's kind of true.
- 1:26:24For whatever reason, I have more hatred towards
- 1:26:26Florida than anybody else. Marshawn was one of
- 1:26:28the main reasons I didn't like Boston. I still
- 1:26:30don't like it. The only Boston team in general
- 1:26:31that I don't hate is the Red Sox. I just grew
- 1:26:35up my grandma's favorite team. Second favorite
- 1:26:37team was always the Red Sox and obviously I was
- 1:26:38always a big poppy fan growing up too. So I mean,
- 1:26:41I had no hate for the Red Sox whatsoever. And
- 1:26:44Fenway's a number one bucket list attraction
- 1:26:47out of anything. Anything. Just to say you went
- 1:26:50to Fenway regardless of the teams to watch. But
- 1:26:54yeah, I mean Charlie McEvoy I think is the best
- 1:26:57option there. Is it Lindholm? Possibly. Lindholm.
- 1:27:26I don't think they're gonna name them this season.
- 1:27:28They'll probably wait until the end of next year.
- 1:27:33So there are alternatives, okay, there are alternatives
- 1:27:34are Charlie and Pes. I didn't realize Charlie
- 1:27:36had an A already. So I can definitely see McAvoy
- 1:27:39getting the C then, without a question. I don't
- 1:27:41think they'll give it to somebody that doesn't
- 1:27:42even have an A right now. So McAvoy will probably
- 1:27:45become the captain, and the C's, or the A's will
- 1:27:48be pasta, and then one of the two Lindholms.
- 1:27:51One of the A Lindholms. We have one of the two
- 1:27:53Lindholms. Yeah, and that's our or maybe both,
- 1:27:57you know, cuz you could have those alternating
- 1:27:59captains You got it did see in McAvoy the assistance
- 1:28:02a I think the panels are doing that will for
- 1:28:04I without the tang and Duma No, I thought they
- 1:28:09were I thought I know Duma had now one point
- 1:28:11That's because it's probably because one of the
- 1:28:13three captains route at this point Well, so that's
- 1:28:15what I mean, like one one home will get the full
- 1:28:18-time a than the one can be like a reserve if
- 1:28:19one of the other Oh, okay. Yeah, like campus
- 1:28:23has the a he gets hurt The full -time A is going
- 1:28:30to be pasta obviously the C will be Charlie and
- 1:28:33then alternate, you know, depending on the night
- 1:28:35A's can be the two of them. Yeah, I mean that's
- 1:28:40Biggest losers are the Boston Braves, so we can
- 1:28:43call them the side of the rock tonight They don't
- 1:28:46even get this letter grade for the deadline they
- 1:28:48get this, you know minus three letter grades
- 1:28:50I think they might be the only team that I am
- 1:28:53legit give a flat -out F2 The biggest loser of
- 1:28:57the deadline is East Lake Boston. Some teams
- 1:29:01that didn't do much didn't do anything, so you
- 1:29:03can't really give them an F because they didn't
- 1:29:05do anything. Some teams didn't really need to
- 1:29:07do anything. The Capitals didn't really need
- 1:29:09to do anything. If name broke, I'd fix it. They
- 1:29:11got Anthony Bivilly from us. I think Bivilly
- 1:29:13was one of the only things that they really did.
- 1:29:15He's going to be a solid third -liner. He's going
- 1:29:16to be a very solid third -liner. I was not very
- 1:29:18happy with that one. I'm surprised we got a second
- 1:29:20round pick out of him though. I'll tell you,
- 1:29:22I was happy with that. Considering the two big
- 1:29:24trades that come right off the top of my head,
- 1:29:28both dealt with the Penguins. First one with
- 1:29:30Lars Eller and now with Bivilly. I think we got
- 1:29:33a second round out of Lars Eller, didn't we?
- 1:29:34Yeah. He went to Washington too, that's right.
- 1:29:37Yeah, he's there. He's in Riverview Center right
- 1:29:39now. Yeah. And he's doing pretty darn well for
- 1:29:41them down there. Pavilion, he's probably going
- 1:29:43to be a third line, third line guy. Depending
- 1:29:46on injury, he might even be able to sneak up
- 1:29:48into that second. Well, again, depends on how
- 1:29:52healthy, you know, Tom Wilson stays, how healthy
- 1:29:54Ryan Strohm will stay, or not Ryan, Dylan Strohm,
- 1:29:57because Dylan Strohm is in between, you know,
- 1:29:59Ovechkin, I think. I forget who is on the other
- 1:30:03wing, but... McMichael or something? Yeah, McMichael.
- 1:30:05It's Ovi and the kids, pretty much. Speaking
- 1:30:08of Ovi, Ovi counter. Nine. He's down to nine.
- 1:30:12Nine more goals, man. Single digits, two... I
- 1:30:15was wrong, he had his tumble on the first line.
- 1:30:17It's Ovi, Strom, Wilson. Okay. And then McMichael,
- 1:30:20PLD, Alexi, Poitras. I think maybe Michael was
- 1:30:24on the first line. Right now it looks like they
- 1:30:27have de Villiers on the fourth. Time will change.
- 1:30:31Just Taylor Radish is their third line right
- 1:30:34winger. Oh. So I didn't realize he was back in
- 1:30:37the NHL right now. Yeah, time will change. Time
- 1:30:39will change. Time will change. Time will change.
- 1:30:48Time will change. Time will change. Time will
- 1:30:48change. Time will change. Time will change. Time
- 1:30:48will change. Time will change. Time will change.
- 1:30:48Time will change. Time will change. Time will
- 1:30:52change. So all he needs is maybe one more hat
- 1:31:00-trick and then he can then he can afford to
- 1:31:02go a game or two without one But I don't know
- 1:31:04if he's gonna do it at the end of this month.
- 1:31:05He will break it this season Let's see that is
- 1:31:11a praying hoping he can stay healthy three three
- 1:31:14game road trip here the California push Anaheim
- 1:31:19LA San Jose Yeah, they host Detroit, host the
- 1:31:27Flyers, host Florida, they go to Winnipeg, go
- 1:31:31to Minnesota, and their last game of the month
- 1:31:34of March is March 30th, 3 p .m., where they host
- 1:31:38the Buffalo Sabres. Yeah, I can see it. Because
- 1:31:42they don't play us until what, April 10th or
- 1:31:44something like that? Season finale. The season
- 1:31:47finale? Season finale, April 17th. Yeah, I don't
- 1:31:49think it'll take that long. Yeah, cuz they're
- 1:31:52I don't know if it'll be by the end of the month
- 1:31:54I can say maybe like the me the second game in
- 1:31:56April I don't know if you can do by the end of
- 1:31:58the month and they got a couple easy games are
- 1:32:00the piece of Buffalo what San Jose and Anaheim
- 1:32:03are in there but then he got teams like Florida
- 1:32:04to deal with Minnesota who's very underrated
- 1:32:07Lee good this year I'll say you good and then
- 1:32:11the last thing the last six games the Capitals
- 1:32:13are all in our division I Hosted Carolina hosted
- 1:32:19by I'm sorry, Long Island in Pittsburgh and a
- 1:32:24home and home against the Blue Jackets in the
- 1:32:26middle there. I'm sorry, they go to Long Island
- 1:32:31twice in the month of April. But either way,
- 1:32:37like Kyle said, it's very well doable for the
- 1:32:41grade A. He's going to do it this season again,
- 1:32:44praying that he stays healthy. Well, the fact
- 1:32:46is, number one, he's 39 years old. Number two,
- 1:32:51he missed six weeks due to a broken leg. He has
- 1:32:55one. How many goals this year? Like 38 in like
- 1:32:5850 games or something like that for 39 years
- 1:33:00old. 39 years old and missing six games. He's
- 1:33:03still top five currently in scoring in the league.
- 1:33:0939 years old and missing some time with injury.
- 1:33:13It's insane. We've got a stats right here. 48
- 1:33:17games so far this year he has 33 goals for 50
- 1:33:20points That put him at exactly he has 16 hit
- 1:33:231600 points today. It looks like Yeah, that goal
- 1:33:27gave him exactly 1600 career points And he's
- 1:33:32nine goals away from breaking a record that we
- 1:33:35all grew up being told this is the most unbreakable
- 1:33:38record in hockey and now he's About to do it.
- 1:33:41Yeah, literally witnessing greatness. Yeah, who
- 1:33:44ever said that? Should be punched in the face.
- 1:33:48I mean, I mean it sounds just out of this world
- 1:33:53I mean now I want to show them like then the
- 1:33:56person who was there to watch when you Gretzky's
- 1:33:58final goal we scored I want to bring them to
- 1:34:01the game where Alex Ovechkin Breaks the record.
- 1:34:05Yeah now you're witnessing history twice. I know
- 1:34:08he said that like I think once he once he gets
- 1:34:11to like the Three or two goals away mark I think
- 1:34:15that's when we need to start getting together
- 1:34:16for every game if we can And start watching to
- 1:34:19be to witness it all together because that is
- 1:34:21just again witnessing greatness and something
- 1:34:23that yeah, we probably won't see again I know
- 1:34:25we said that for Kretzky's but And thing is if
- 1:34:30he hits it does he keep going does he try to
- 1:34:31hit 900? Obviously, I think he loves he's probably
- 1:34:34least play the rest of the season So there there
- 1:34:37is a very good chance pending on when he hits
- 1:34:40the record that he could hit 900 real honestly
- 1:34:43considering to break the record it's 895 and
- 1:34:46if he does it in the month of march there's no
- 1:34:48way that he's going to go goalless between april
- 1:34:511st and whenever the capitals are done with the
- 1:34:54playoffs yeah i know he went goalless last year
- 1:34:58not that playoff series but you'd be asked nice
- 1:35:02to not have or not see who you score so absolutely
- 1:35:08unbelievable man It's been incredible to watch.
- 1:35:12As much as we kind of grew up hating him as a
- 1:35:15player, just being told that we're supposed to
- 1:35:17hate him just because of the rivalry between
- 1:35:19him and Crosby, I mean yeah, he's starting to
- 1:35:24almost prove me wrong with the whole Crosby -Ovetchian
- 1:35:25debate. It's getting close now, just how old
- 1:35:29he is and he's still being able to put up these
- 1:35:31numbers is unbelievable, man. But again, without
- 1:35:36a question of it out, greatest goal scorer of
- 1:35:38all time is going to be, and he's starting to
- 1:35:42get to that point where I might be being pushed
- 1:35:44on the crowd of the Ovechkin debate, but goal
- 1:35:47scorer, obviously I've said for a while it's
- 1:35:49him, but overall it's starting to push the other
- 1:35:52direction. I'm still sticking true to Sid with
- 1:35:56what he's doing in Pittsburgh. I still think
- 1:36:00the overall round player is Cid, but the goal
- 1:36:04scorer is Cid. So he might be back in time for
- 1:36:29Tuesday's matchup between Florida and Boston.
- 1:36:33In Boston. So um, hell that might even be a tearjerker
- 1:36:36of a tribute. Not even a Martian fan and I might
- 1:36:39still shed a tear on that one, so. I know there's
- 1:36:42probably gonna be some split reactions in that
- 1:36:43arena. I mean, I don't think there's a single
- 1:36:46fan in that arena that'll boo him, to be honest.
- 1:36:48I think there might be a couple. but I don't
- 1:36:51think it was his decision to be moved. No, it
- 1:36:54wasn't. I mean, if he pulled like a John Tavares
- 1:36:57and like in free agency went to Toronto instead,
- 1:37:01yeah. Like, oh, I wanted more money. No, like
- 1:37:03he was trading. Like he didn't leave them and
- 1:37:05go in the free agency for more money. Yeah, he
- 1:37:07was traded not under request, not under his own
- 1:37:12will, so. Which I believe I did see he had to
- 1:37:14waive his no trade clause in order for the trade
- 1:37:16to happen. Yeah. But again, like. It was, I'm
- 1:37:19sure he was kind of out of, his kind of hands
- 1:37:20were probably tied. He didn't have much of a
- 1:37:22say. So. But yeah man, that is clearly the day
- 1:37:27of an era for sure. In this day and hockey is
- 1:37:29the end of Marshawn in Boston. Yeah, I'm about
- 1:37:34done with stuff to say. I am too. Looking at
- 1:37:37it, there's nobody left from the last championship
- 1:37:40team in Boston. Or, right? Not really. I mean,
- 1:37:47Zaka is gone. Zaka's still in Boston now. Oh
- 1:37:51no, then I think Pavel Zaka was still around
- 1:37:53during that run. The 2011 run? Yeah. No, no,
- 1:37:58no. Zaka's only been in Boston for about three
- 1:38:00years now. Okay, well then nevermind. Marshawn,
- 1:38:02I think, is the last one, obviously, from that.
- 1:38:04Because he was just like, boy, that might have
- 1:38:06been his rookie year or his second year from
- 1:38:08Marshawn there. He was young when they had that
- 1:38:12cup run. That was 13 years ago now, I think.
- 1:38:15Marchanda's 25. Brad Marchanda was only a couple
- 1:38:20months younger than Sid. Well, what was his first
- 1:38:23year that he started playing? 2009. So yeah,
- 1:38:29it was like his second or third year. Crazy man
- 1:38:36crazy absolutely insane deadline that we did
- 1:38:38not see that coming for sure There's a lot of
- 1:38:41ones for us for the penguins that I thought was
- 1:38:43gonna be moved that I was hoping was gonna get
- 1:38:45moved didn't Eric Carlson the one I cut I know
- 1:38:50Kyle and I were kind of talking about like we
- 1:38:53were Throughout the week we were talking about
- 1:38:56I was talking about I Really thought we're cow
- 1:38:59I know there's heavy. I think there was a deal
- 1:39:02in place to move him, but then it got and falling
- 1:39:05through. Thanks for you. I mean, personally I
- 1:39:09really didn't want to see Raquel get moves. I
- 1:39:11know, I mean at this point of his career where
- 1:39:13he's just putting up probably the best numbers
- 1:39:15of his career right now and I think he's our
- 1:39:16number one scorer right now. Yes. He's at 30
- 1:39:19goals now and very close too. But yeah, that's
- 1:39:26about all I got left to say. We'll call and find
- 1:39:28that proof set stat for me. So I know he leads
- 1:39:32the team, I don't know if he's broken 30 yet
- 1:39:33or not. No, so Ricardo Ricale currently, well
- 1:39:40he leads the team in goals at 29. 29, okay. But
- 1:39:43he's number 2 in points. Only behind Sid the
- 1:39:48middle -aged man. Sid has 68 points, Ricardo
- 1:39:51has 54. And the next closest is Rusty at 47.
- 1:39:56Yeah. Rusty is another one I wouldn't have doubted
- 1:40:00to see get moved. But he might have to be one
- 1:40:03of the ones that we do move to continue on with
- 1:40:06this dreaded R -word, the rebuild. Dubis is doing
- 1:40:12a very good job. I mean, he said that his goal
- 1:40:15right now is to get this rebuild done as quick
- 1:40:17as possible to give Crosby, Malkin, and Lutang
- 1:40:20one more shot at the big game, at the big dance.
- 1:40:23He's doing a good job. I mean, I'm very very
- 1:40:26happy with the overall the trade I am too. I
- 1:40:29might give us honestly what the letter we're
- 1:40:31rocking right now, but I'd give us a B I Would
- 1:40:35like honestly like to see that patch back on
- 1:40:38our jerseys yet again one more one last time
- 1:40:40one last time I'm not asking for two or three
- 1:40:42more. I would like one more for for the this
- 1:40:45three -headed monster there But now yeah, I think
- 1:40:49we're good. I'm done. Don't have much else to
- 1:40:51add on pretty good Alright, well, we're out.
- 1:40:56Peace out. No peace. Chicken grease. Whatever
- 1:40:58you want to say. That's fine. Whatever outro's
- 1:41:01you want to say. We're done saying the normal
- 1:41:06outro. We've said it so many times. We're going
- 1:41:09to say it so many times again. Peace out motherfuckers.
- 1:41:14Peace out. See ya.
