- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome. It is Verdical Center, Ted Cruz, it is nice
- 0:03Speaker 1: to have you with us. It is official. Twelve oh
- 0:06Speaker 1: one am. The United States government is shut down. The
- 0:11Speaker 1: Democrats they did it on purpose. Apparently it was their plan.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And the question is for how long have they been
- 0:17Speaker 1: planning on doing this. This is going to be a
- 0:21Speaker 1: very interesting show. This all revolves around the Senate. That
- 0:25Speaker 1: is something that maybe some people don't realize. Everything's come
- 0:29Speaker 1: out of the House. We're now to the Senate side
- 0:31Speaker 1: of things, and I want you to explain what it
- 0:34Speaker 1: was like in the hours leading up to this shutdown.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Was there ever a chance in hell that the government
- 0:39Speaker 1: wasn't going to shut down?
- 0:40Speaker 2: No, there was never a chance. It is just after midnight,
- 0:45Speaker 2: so the government is shut down just for a few minutes.
- 0:49Speaker 2: But I think the government shutdown is going to last
- 0:52Speaker 2: at the minimum of days, it may be weeks, and
- 0:56Speaker 2: it may even be longer. Really, yes, this could extend
- 1:01Speaker 2: for a significant period of time. And understand this is
- 1:06Speaker 2: the Democrats roar that they hate Donald Trump. So I
- 1:11Speaker 2: got to say we had the vote tonight. There was
- 1:14Speaker 2: no surprise. Everyone knew the outcome out of one hundred
- 1:17Speaker 2: senators all of us knew the outcome. The vote was
- 1:20Speaker 2: fifty five to forty five. So three Democrat senators voted
- 1:25Speaker 2: to keep the government open.
- 1:28Speaker 1: You have a pretty big deal, right, I mean, did
- 1:31Speaker 1: you think those three were going to go?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Where?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Did you think it was going to be a unanimous vote?
- 1:34Speaker 1: I mean Fetterman and two others like that's that is significant?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Look Fetterman, I was not surprised. So Fetterman voted
- 1:41Speaker 2: to keep the government open, Cortes Master voter to keep
- 1:44Speaker 2: the government open, and Angus King voted to keep the
- 1:47Speaker 2: government open. That's not shocking to me. It's fifty five
- 1:51Speaker 2: to forty five. Now why did the government shut down? Look,
- 1:54Speaker 2: the basic operation of government is the federal government cannot
- 1:59Speaker 2: continue to operate unless Congress appropriates funds. Under the Constitution,
- 2:04Speaker 2: Congress has the power of the purse, so Congress appropriates
- 2:08Speaker 2: the spending of money. A typical fiscal year is October
- 2:14Speaker 2: first to September thirtieth.
- 2:16Speaker 3: YEP.
- 2:17Speaker 2: This particular funding ended at midnight on September thirtieth. You
- 2:22Speaker 2: and I are recording this just after minutes after midnight
- 2:26Speaker 2: on September thirtieth. The appropriation, the authorization for Congress to
- 2:32Speaker 2: spend money expired minutes ago. Now, there are a couple
- 2:36Speaker 2: of ways you can extend the government funding. One is
- 2:38Speaker 2: an appropriation and so they're typically in a good year.
- 2:42Speaker 2: They are thirteen appropriation bills that fund each different kind
- 2:46Speaker 2: of major segment of government. For a number of years,
- 2:49Speaker 2: the appropriation bills have not passed. The other major way
- 2:53Speaker 2: that government authorization occurs is through what are called crs.
- 2:58Speaker 2: CR is short for continue resolution. A continue resolution is
- 3:02Speaker 2: essentially Congress saying what we are spending now, we can
- 3:06Speaker 2: continue continue the status quo identically for x period of time. Now,
- 3:12Speaker 2: the House of Representatives pasted a CR, a clean CR,
- 3:16Speaker 2: to fund the federal government through the middle of November.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So if the Senate had passed it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Oh right. Let's be clear. When you say a clean CR,
- 3:23Speaker 1: that means no political shananigans in it. It's literally saying,
- 3:28Speaker 1: we're taking the twenty five budget year and we're going
- 3:32Speaker 1: to say the exact same amount we spent in August,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we're going to spend September, October, November until we get
- 3:37Speaker 1: the new budget. There is no port barrel extras, there's
- 3:41Speaker 1: no political sheanigan against from either side.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, Okay, a clean CR says what we
- 3:48Speaker 2: spent yesterday is what we'll spend tomorrow, that everything just
- 3:52Speaker 2: continues the same, and that's what the House has passed. Now.
- 3:57Speaker 2: The challenge is for anything to pass the Senate that
- 4:00Speaker 2: is in the nature of an appropriations or a CR,
- 4:03Speaker 2: it takes sixty votes because under the filibuster rule, you've
- 4:08Speaker 2: got to have sixty votes to move forward on legislation. So,
- 4:11Speaker 2: as I mentioned, we got fifty five. We got three Democrats,
- 4:14Speaker 2: but we need sixty, which means we need at least
- 4:18Speaker 2: seven Democrats. And actually here we need eight Democrats because
- 4:22Speaker 2: Ran Paul voted no. So we had fifty two Republicans
- 4:25Speaker 2: vote yes, and we needed eight Democrats to vote yes
- 4:29Speaker 2: to fund the government. Well, we only got three, and.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That was on purpose. And I want to pause just
- 4:37Speaker 1: for a second to go back to CR historically. Let's
- 4:41Speaker 1: just go back to Biden's time in office, when you
- 4:43Speaker 1: guys were in the minority. If I'm not mistaken, you
- 4:48Speaker 1: guys did this more than a dozen times, where you
- 4:50Speaker 1: can't and say, hey, thirteen times, all right, So thirteen
- 4:54Speaker 1: different times y'all came together and said we're gonna spend
- 4:58Speaker 1: exactly what we spent yesterday to keep the government open,
- 5:01Speaker 1: so we avoid a government shut down. And you put
- 5:05Speaker 1: the American people ahead of politics. And that is a
- 5:09Speaker 1: bipartisan moment, right, They had to have some of your votes.
- 5:12Speaker 2: So look, every time we came to the end of
- 5:14Speaker 2: government funding, you would have enough Republicans joined with Democrats
- 5:18Speaker 2: to keep the government funded. Now what has changed, Well,
- 5:22Speaker 2: several months ago we had another expiration of government funding.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And what happened is Chuck Schumer and the Democrats decided, Okay,
- 5:30Speaker 2: let's keep the government going, a very reasonable and very
- 5:32Speaker 2: common sense, a very normal decision. The Democratic left wing
- 5:37Speaker 2: base lost their mind and Chuck Schumer nearly lost his
- 5:43Speaker 2: job because Schumer allowed the government to be funded several
- 5:47Speaker 2: months ago, the left wing rose up against him. And
- 5:51Speaker 2: you want to understand why we have a shutdown. It's
- 5:54Speaker 2: one thing. Schumer is looking over his left shoulder and
- 5:58Speaker 2: he sees aoc running up behind him, and he is
- 6:02Speaker 2: terrified he's gonna lose his job. So listen, Schumer knows
- 6:07Speaker 2: this is not gonna work. He knows this is failures.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Just pure cover your als politics one oh one by Schumer.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So the radical left wing, they hate Trump, and they
- 6:19Speaker 2: want today to be a giant f you to Trump.
- 6:23Speaker 2: They want it to be we hate President Trump, and
- 6:27Speaker 2: we hate President Trump so much we're gonna shut the
- 6:30Speaker 2: entire government down because rar that's what we're watching now.
- 6:35Speaker 1: By the way, So then hold on, when did this
- 6:38Speaker 1: become the plan? Was this weeks ago? Months ago? Was
- 6:41Speaker 1: this when they had the last years? I got the
- 6:43Speaker 1: next time it comes up, I have no choice. I
- 6:45Speaker 1: got to shut down the government to flex my muscles.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And also there is a real concern by him that
- 6:51Speaker 1: AOC is going to run against him, primary him in
- 6:54Speaker 1: the Senate. By the way, that is after the next
- 6:56Speaker 1: president's election cycle? Was that and that isn't he up
- 6:59Speaker 1: two years after? Are not mistaken?
- 7:01Speaker 2: So be.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And to be clear, I predicted on this podcast the
- 7:06Speaker 2: inaugural member the chairman of the AOC for President campaign
- 7:10Speaker 2: is Chuck Schumer. Because he is desperate for AOC not
- 7:14Speaker 2: to primary him. He's gonna say, Alexandra, you are such
- 7:19Speaker 2: a big deal, you were so important. Really, the Senate's
- 7:22Speaker 2: too small for you. Why do you want to bother
- 7:24Speaker 2: being in the Senate. You should be in the White House.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Schumer is going to be all in on that, but
- 7:30Speaker 2: he is living with absolute PTSD. He is traumatized. He
- 7:36Speaker 2: sees left wing antifa crazies coming around on every side,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and so from his end, this shutdown is necessary politically. Now,
- 7:48Speaker 2: what did the Democrats demand? They demanded a lot of things.
- 7:50Speaker 2: You know what the number one demand was, what's that?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Free healthcare for illegals all over the country.
- 7:58Speaker 1: By the way, I mean when you think about at
- 8:00Speaker 1: and the polling data and what it says, I don't
- 8:04Speaker 1: understand why that would make your number one thing. Because
- 8:06Speaker 1: it's clear that the people are behind President Trump. Securing
- 8:09Speaker 1: our borders, stopping government waste for aunt of abuse dogs
- 8:12Speaker 1: was a big part of it. And also making sure
- 8:14Speaker 1: that we're not giving out benefits to illegal immigrants. Like no, no, no,
- 8:17Speaker 1: we want to spend one point five trillion if you
- 8:20Speaker 1: want our votes, and it has to be for health
- 8:22Speaker 1: care for illegal immigrants and food stamps for people that
- 8:24Speaker 1: are able bodied, for example, that refuse to work. That's
- 8:28Speaker 1: another thing, And they're like, no, no, no, we buy gal.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You better get minded people that are just straight up lazy,
- 8:33Speaker 1: that aren't that that have the ability to work, but
- 8:36Speaker 1: you got to pay them to stay home.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah, a huge pump chunk of this is getting rid
- 8:40Speaker 2: of the work requirement for government benefits. Democrats don't want
- 8:44Speaker 2: anyone to have to work. They wanted them to be
- 8:46Speaker 2: able to sit at home and get government checks. But
- 8:49Speaker 2: did you see the AI video of the White House
- 8:51Speaker 2: put out?
- 8:52Speaker 1: Which one they put out a couple different things. Which
- 8:55Speaker 1: one are you talking about?
- 8:56Speaker 2: I want you, I want I want to play this
- 8:58Speaker 2: for everyone. Okay, this is fake So all the nattering nabobs,
- 9:04Speaker 2: this is fake news. But it is absolutely hysterical that
- 9:07Speaker 2: the White House put out. This is Chuck Schumer and
- 9:10Speaker 2: a King Jeffreys explaining what this shutdown is all about.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Now, before we get to that, I want to talk
- 9:15Speaker 1: to you about my friends over at Berna. If you've
- 9:17Speaker 1: ever listened to the show before, you know I'm a
- 9:19Speaker 1: big advocate for the Second Amendment and I've shared on
- 9:21Speaker 1: numerous occasions how carrying a firearm literally saved my life
- 9:25Speaker 1: from a gang related attack. But many of you out
- 9:27Speaker 1: there may not feel comfortable carrying a firearm. Maybe you
- 9:30Speaker 1: have a loved one that's just not comfortable. They need
- 9:32Speaker 1: a way to protect themselves, and that's why I want
- 9:35Speaker 1: you to know about bernot launchers. I have them, and
- 9:37Speaker 1: I've given them to many family members. Berne is a
- 9:40Speaker 1: handheld pistol that fires both kinetic rounds and chemical irritants
- 9:44Speaker 1: to separate you from an attacker. Josh Cherard from Berna
- 9:48Speaker 1: has been with us telling stories of how Berna has
- 9:51Speaker 1: helped save lives or could have been the best option
- 9:54Speaker 1: for protection. Josh, this next one is incredibly sad, and
- 9:57Speaker 1: I want you to talk about a father that involved
- 10:00Speaker 1: with a shooting.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Absolutely so. In this particular case, sixteen year old girl
- 10:05Speaker 3: was coming home late one night, about three am in
- 10:07Speaker 3: the morning, entering through the garage. Unfortunately, the father, here's
- 10:10Speaker 3: a noise in the garage, grabs his gun, goes out there.
- 10:14Speaker 3: He's a dark figure walking through the garage, points that
- 10:16Speaker 3: gun fires only that point, realizing that he had just
- 10:20Speaker 3: killed his sixteen year old daughter. This is an illustration
- 10:23Speaker 3: of where guns in homes, if not used properly, can
- 10:28Speaker 3: have dire dire consequences. In this case, one bullet killed
- 10:32Speaker 3: two lives and the lives of many others in that family.
- 10:35Speaker 3: It was incredibly tragic and unfortunately we see this situation
- 10:39Speaker 3: dozens and dozens of times every year throughout the US.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, That's one of the questions that I think some
- 10:43Speaker 1: people ask us, like, is this just a one off
- 10:45Speaker 1: occurrence that would never happen to me? Unfortunately, as you mentioned,
- 10:48Speaker 1: this happens a lot more often than people realize.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Absolutely. Unfortunately, people think that the best tool and the
- 10:54Speaker 3: only tool for home defense is a gun, and they
- 10:56Speaker 3: get a gun, they never train with it, they never
- 10:58Speaker 3: train the tactics that requires, they don't do the other
- 11:00Speaker 3: things like flashlights and all the other things that are
- 11:02Speaker 3: necessary to make sure that they can use that gun properly.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And then that's when you have something like this happens
- 11:07Speaker 3: with a burna. If the same thing had happened you
- 11:09Speaker 3: put a burner in his hands, his daughter would be
- 11:11Speaker 3: really mad. After she was done coughing for about forty
- 11:14Speaker 3: five minutes, but still alive. Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 1: If you want to get more information on how BERNA
- 11:18Speaker 1: can help you or a family member protect themselves, go
- 11:20Speaker 1: to burnaby RNA dot com. That's burna by RNA dot
- 11:25Speaker 1: com again, burna by RNA dot com. All right, so center,
- 11:31Speaker 1: here is that audio. Yes, as you mentioned earlier, this
- 11:34Speaker 1: is a spoof. It is like Saturday Night Live, except
- 11:37Speaker 1: it's coming from President Donald Trump's account, which is the
- 11:39Speaker 1: best part about it. Take a listen to this. Look, guys,
- 11:43Speaker 1: there's no way to sugarcoat it. Nobody likes Democrats anymore.
- 11:47Speaker 4: We have no voters left because of all of our
- 11:49Speaker 4: woke trans bullsh Not even black people want to vote
- 11:52Speaker 4: for us anymore. Even Latinos hate us. So we need
- 11:55Speaker 4: new voters. And if we give all these illegal aliens
- 11:59Speaker 4: free healthcare here, we might be able to get them
- 12:02Speaker 4: on our side so they can vote for us. They
- 12:04Speaker 4: can't even speak English, so they won't realize we're just
- 12:08Speaker 4: a bunch of woke pieces of ship, you know, at
- 12:11Speaker 4: least for a while until they learn English and they
- 12:13Speaker 4: realize they hate us too.
- 12:15Speaker 1: See, this is when I love AI. This is when
- 12:18Speaker 1: I absolutely love the spoof from the President. And if
- 12:21Speaker 1: you can't see this, you need to go look at
- 12:23Speaker 1: it we put up on social media, the videos and
- 12:25Speaker 1: Importphreeze has got a really nice Hannibar mustache and a
- 12:28Speaker 1: sombrero on.
- 12:30Speaker 2: So look, pause for a second and realize that was
- 12:35Speaker 2: released by the White House. That was released by the
- 12:39Speaker 2: President of the United States. I feel a little guilty
- 12:42Speaker 2: because we've got some cursewords in there. We try to
- 12:45Speaker 2: avoid cursewords on this podcast. But what do you do
- 12:49Speaker 2: when the president has put that out?
- 12:52Speaker 3: You put it?
- 12:53Speaker 2: And I gotta say, the video sits today at lunch.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, all the publican senators
- 13:01Speaker 2: have lunch together. Today at lunch, John Thune met with
- 13:05Speaker 2: the President, met with Schumer, met with the King Jeffries
- 13:08Speaker 2: at the White House. And so Thune was giving us
- 13:11Speaker 2: a download on that. And you know, Thune was talking about, Okay,
- 13:15Speaker 2: the Democrats, they don't want to cut a deal. They're
- 13:16Speaker 2: not willing to give it on anything. And I will confess.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I raised my hand. I question. I said, John was
- 13:24Speaker 2: a King Jeffries wearing the sombrero.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And what did he say?
- 13:30Speaker 2: He just laughed. But look and everyone cracked up. But
- 13:34Speaker 2: that image. Listen, the Democrats have literally shut down the
- 13:39Speaker 2: federal government because they want free health care for every
- 13:43Speaker 2: illegal alien in America.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Talk about, like on every issue that's eighty twenty or
- 13:49Speaker 2: even ninety ten, they're on the twenty or the ten side.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The American people do not support. If you want to
- 13:56Speaker 2: have a referendum in this country, should we give illegals
- 13:59Speaker 2: free health care? Wow, that will be overwhelming. But here's
- 14:04Speaker 2: the secret. This shutdown is not actually about free health
- 14:08Speaker 2: care for illegals. That's what the Democrats have hung their
- 14:12Speaker 2: hat on because they got to say they want.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So they gotta say something, right, This is.
- 14:16Speaker 2: All about just we hate Donald Trump and it is
- 14:22Speaker 2: Chuck Schumer job preservation. And that also means the end
- 14:27Speaker 2: of this. Okay, there's no universe in which Chuck Schumer
- 14:32Speaker 2: will get President Trump to agree to let's give free
- 14:35Speaker 2: health care to illegals.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah, not gonna happen. They know that.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they're entering. There's no universe in which Republicans in
- 14:41Speaker 2: Congress are going to say, hey, that's a great idea,
- 14:43Speaker 2: let's give free health care to every illegal. Like that's
- 14:47Speaker 2: you might as well ask for Area fifty one, like
- 14:50Speaker 2: to release the Martians and let them take over the country. Yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 2: that is as likely to happen as free health care
- 14:56Speaker 2: for illegals from Republicans. The Democrats know that this is
- 15:01Speaker 2: not about getting what they're demanding. This is about how
- 15:05Speaker 2: long do they want to demonstrate Orange Man bad?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah and so and the radical base is what has
- 15:13Speaker 1: put them in this scenario. Right, I guess do you
- 15:16Speaker 1: actually believe. And let's go back to the history of
- 15:20Speaker 1: the Senate here. I don't believe that Chuck Schumer actually
- 15:23Speaker 1: wanted to shut down the government. No, No, I think
- 15:26Speaker 1: he was forced to do it.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he would lose his job. He would lose his
- 15:31Speaker 2: job if the government was it.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Was self preservation.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:35Speaker 1: In other words, this is weird. Chuck Schumer is being
- 15:38Speaker 1: held hostage by the Marxist communists and socialists in his party,
- 15:41Speaker 1: which they did not police and they allowed to take
- 15:44Speaker 1: over their party. Then he's now holding the American people
- 15:48Speaker 1: hostage with a government shut down, which brings me the
- 15:51Speaker 1: big question. Even when we've had shutdowns in the past,
- 15:55Speaker 1: there has been some agreement center like, hey, certain people
- 15:58Speaker 1: should deserve to get paid, those that are in the military,
- 16:01Speaker 1: those badges, like the list is not that long, but
- 16:05Speaker 1: the essential important people that deserve to get a paycheck.
- 16:08Speaker 1: We don't screw with them when they're protecting to fing
- 16:11Speaker 1: this country, can you guys, at least was there an
- 16:13Speaker 1: agreement to pay them? Really? Okay, so walk us through that,
- 16:18Speaker 1: because I'm assuming that came up at lunch.
- 16:20Speaker 2: So one of the things I did today is I
- 16:23Speaker 2: sent a letter because under the Constitution, Members of Congress,
- 16:28Speaker 2: our pay cannot be stopped. It's actually unconstitutional to reduce
- 16:32Speaker 2: the compensation for members of Congress during the term we're
- 16:34Speaker 2: elected to. So I sent a letter and I've done
- 16:37Speaker 2: this during every shutdown, saying while the government is shut down,
- 16:42Speaker 2: don't pay me. It's not fair. It's not right for
- 16:46Speaker 2: an elected member of Congress to receive a paycheck when
- 16:50Speaker 2: federal workers are not. Now, to be clear, I don't
- 16:53Speaker 2: lose my pay when the shutdown is over. I'll get
- 16:57Speaker 2: but it's deferred.
- 16:58Speaker 1: But a lot of I don't understand that the long
- 17:02Speaker 1: which if I think just asinine, and I have family
- 17:05Speaker 1: members work in the federal government, and they're like, the
- 17:08Speaker 1: dumb part about this that I think a lot of
- 17:10Speaker 1: Americans don't understand, yep, is that you don't miss a
- 17:14Speaker 1: paycheck in your calendar year. You just miss a month
- 17:18Speaker 1: and then you get it back data, you get it
- 17:20Speaker 1: back the next time whenever the government does open back up.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And so I know people that are in the FA
- 17:26Speaker 1: for example, and they're like, dude, we just plan our
- 17:28Speaker 1: vacations like great trips around shutdowns because we know we're
- 17:31Speaker 1: still getting paid. We save not everybody can do that.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But like they've almost pre planned for this bonus vacation
- 17:37Speaker 1: and they're gonna get paid back.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but let me make several points of clarification. Sure
- 17:43Speaker 2: number one, government shutdown as a misnomer. More than eighty
- 17:48Speaker 2: percent of the government will continue to operate. So the
- 17:51Speaker 2: basic principle is everything that is essential keeps going. So
- 17:56Speaker 2: the military, our activity and military defending the nation against
- 18:01Speaker 2: bad guys, that keeps going. The FBI catching criminals, that
- 18:05Speaker 2: keeps going. The border patrol and ice that keeps going.
- 18:09Speaker 2: The FAA air traffic controllers. Tomorrow, if you get on
- 18:13Speaker 2: an airplane, the air traffic controllers all go to work.
- 18:16Speaker 2: By the way, the air traffic controllers are not getting
- 18:20Speaker 2: a paycheck, so they're going to work. But every two
- 18:24Speaker 2: weeks federal government employees get paid. Air traffic controllers, coast guardsmen, military,
- 18:30Speaker 2: the federal government. Nobody gets a paycheck. And so what
- 18:35Speaker 2: shuts down. Every cabinet secretary was assigned designate among your
- 18:40Speaker 2: employees who is essential and who is not essential. I
- 18:44Speaker 2: remember when Bill Clinton was president, we had to shut down.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Then.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Remember Knute Gingrich and the Republican Congress were fighting with
- 18:50Speaker 2: Bill Clinton. We had to shut down for a number
- 18:52Speaker 2: of weeks, and I remember there was a headline that
- 18:54Speaker 2: said the Department of Commerce designated thirty percent of their
- 18:59Speaker 2: employees is a essentral and seventy percent is non essential.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I remember thinking, that's great, we just set a new
- 19:06Speaker 2: benchline all those non essential that's seventy percent they ought
- 19:10Speaker 2: to be done. But what that means, so what will
- 19:14Speaker 2: be shut down? Starting October one? National parks will be
- 19:19Speaker 2: shut down. So I gotta say, if you were planning
- 19:21Speaker 2: to take your family to Yosemite this weekend, yeah, I'm
- 19:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry to say you're out of luck. Yosemite will
- 19:28Speaker 2: be closed. If you were coming to d C to
- 19:30Speaker 2: tour our nation's capitally, you wanted to go to the Smithsonian,
- 19:33Speaker 2: go to the Air and Space Museum, it's the Smithsonian
- 19:36Speaker 2: will be shut down. If you look at things like
- 19:40Speaker 2: the National Institute of Health, like research on cancer, much
- 19:44Speaker 2: of that will be shut down.
- 19:46Speaker 1: All across that non essential. When people are going to
- 19:49Speaker 1: say that seems insane, Why wouldn't we fix that to
- 19:51Speaker 1: make sure when we have these shenanigans happen that that's
- 19:54Speaker 1: not affected.
- 19:56Speaker 2: And I think this shutdown will extend I think it'll
- 20:01Speaker 2: be weeks. I think it will be Schumer is trying
- 20:05Speaker 2: to protect his own rear end and everything else is
- 20:08Speaker 2: secondary to protecting his own political life. So I think
- 20:11Speaker 2: we will see an extended shutdown.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So is this polling the I mean, how do you
- 20:16Speaker 1: decide when you won or you lost if you're Schumer,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Because this is not about the country hating Schumer. This
- 20:22Speaker 1: is only about New York. I'm protecting a seat from AOC.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So in essence, you don't care how many people hate
- 20:29Speaker 1: you in the country. It's only a New York thing,
- 20:32Speaker 1: is that. I mean, well, they do polling. I mean
- 20:34Speaker 1: this is weird.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, so this is being called the Schumer shutdown. Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and I got to say, the Democrats are losing the
- 20:43Speaker 2: messaging battle. It is clear this is a Democrat shutdown.
- 20:47Speaker 2: There was actually exchange right before we had the vote
- 20:50Speaker 2: on the CR to keep the government open, and this
- 20:52Speaker 2: is a clean CR. No rioters, no nothing, this is
- 20:55Speaker 2: just keep the lights.
- 20:56Speaker 1: On status quo.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Schumer stood up and was speaking, and all the Senators
- 21:01Speaker 2: or most of us, were standing on the Senate floor,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and Schumer said, look, there's been reference to polling, but
- 21:08Speaker 2: the polling has been biased. It's been right wing polling,
- 21:13Speaker 2: for example, the New York Times. And I got to
- 21:17Speaker 2: tell you, I and every other Republican we just started
- 21:20Speaker 2: cracking up, laughing, and you could see Schumer he actually
- 21:23Speaker 2: turned red, he looked sheepish because he just said on
- 21:27Speaker 2: the Senate floor that the New York Times was a
- 21:31Speaker 2: biased right wing poll.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, seriously.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And it was a moment where where like Schumer, you
- 21:38Speaker 2: saw Democrats looking at him going, dude, you look like
- 21:42Speaker 2: that's weak. And that's because the New York Times did
- 21:46Speaker 2: a poll if the Democrats don't get everything they want,
- 21:49Speaker 2: should they shut the government down? And sixty five percent
- 21:52Speaker 2: of Americans said no, don't shut the government down. It
- 21:55Speaker 2: was a small percentage. It was just over twenty percent
- 21:58Speaker 2: of Americans that said, yeah, shut the government down. So
- 22:02Speaker 2: that's who the Democrats are responding to. But they've got
- 22:05Speaker 2: Schumer's message is the New York Times is a right
- 22:09Speaker 2: wing mouthpiece, and how dare you tell the American people
- 22:13Speaker 2: that we the Democrats, are shutting the government down. This
- 22:17Speaker 2: is headed to failure. Everyone knows that, every Republican knows
- 22:20Speaker 2: that every Democrat knows that is there an outcome where
- 22:24Speaker 2: Republicans say, okay, great, let's fund healthcare free illegals. No,
- 22:29Speaker 2: the Democrats will give in. Three Democrats voted to fund
- 22:32Speaker 2: the government. What will happen is the government is shut down.
- 22:36Speaker 2: People are going to get ticked off, people are gonna
- 22:39Speaker 2: want to like use by the way, things like passport
- 22:43Speaker 2: services will be greatly reduced. All sorts of government. Now listen.
- 22:47Speaker 2: The military keeps going, law enforcement keep going, Social Security
- 22:50Speaker 2: keeps going, Medicare keeps going, Medicaid keeps going, an awful
- 22:54Speaker 2: lot of government keeps going. But the lack of government
- 22:58Speaker 2: being open will be a serious function. At some point
- 23:01Speaker 2: we will see seven or eight Democrats say enough is enough,
- 23:05Speaker 2: reopen the government. That will happen. But let me tell
- 23:08Speaker 2: you a huge piece that is an X factor in this,
- 23:14Speaker 2: which is Russ Vote, who is the head of OMB,
- 23:17Speaker 2: the Office of Management and Budget works for the White House.
- 23:20Speaker 2: He put out a memo a week ago that said,
- 23:23Speaker 2: if there is a government shutdown, we are going to
- 23:28Speaker 2: lay off federal workers. We're not going to give them
- 23:30Speaker 2: a furlough.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Is hold on.
- 23:32Speaker 1: This is the brilliant game of chess that was early
- 23:36Speaker 1: on preemptive ye warning you do this and here's what
- 23:41Speaker 1: we were going to do. And this might be one
- 23:44Speaker 1: of the best movies I've seen politically in a long
- 23:46Speaker 1: time in DC, which is go ahead, do it and
- 23:50Speaker 1: watch what happens, because there a lot of people are
- 23:51Speaker 1: gonna get lose their jobs and that's going to be
- 23:53Speaker 1: on you guys for allowing it to happen. Right, So
- 23:56Speaker 1: explain all that.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Yes, So Russ is a good friend's strong conservative. He's
- 24:01Speaker 2: a strong fiscal conservative. And what he said is, listen,
- 24:04Speaker 2: if Congress decides not to fund the federal government, we
- 24:08Speaker 2: are going to react to that by the White Houses
- 24:12Speaker 2: instructed every cabinet agency to prepare a plan for a
- 24:16Speaker 2: riff a reduction in force to give permanent layoffs pink
- 24:20Speaker 2: slips to government bureaucrats who are left wing bureaucrats who
- 24:25Speaker 2: are advancing the priorities of the Democrat Party. So what
- 24:29Speaker 2: you are going to see in the next few days,
- 24:32Speaker 2: you are going to see bureaucrats at the EPA fired.
- 24:37Speaker 2: You're going to see bureaucrats at the Department of Labor fired.
- 24:42Speaker 2: You're going to see bureaucrats at the RS fired. And
- 24:46Speaker 2: within a couple of days we're going to see Democrat senators.
- 24:50Speaker 2: They're going to be in their lunches screaming at each
- 24:52Speaker 2: other because this is frankly an excuse for the Trump
- 24:56Speaker 2: administration to do what they wanted to do anyway, which
- 24:59Speaker 2: is get rid of left wing bureaucrats. But they now
- 25:02Speaker 2: have an incredible justification, which is, hey, Congress chose not
- 25:07Speaker 2: to fund them, so instead of giving them a paid vacation,
- 25:12Speaker 2: stay home several weeks and then we'll pay you back
- 25:14Speaker 2: pay and come back to your job. They're gonna even
- 25:17Speaker 2: pick slip and say you're done. You no longer have
- 25:20Speaker 2: a job. And I think that is going to ratchet
- 25:22Speaker 2: up the pressure on Democrats massively.
- 25:26Speaker 1: So how quickly can these firings take place? How massive
- 25:29Speaker 1: could they be? And how much research has been done
- 25:34Speaker 1: behind the scenes to get rid of a lot of
- 25:36Speaker 1: these woke bureaucrats that we that we've been wanting to
- 25:39Speaker 1: get rid of, that the presidents want to get rid of,
- 25:42Speaker 1: the cabinet secretaries of wanting to get rid of like
- 25:44Speaker 1: how I mean, I'm assuming they're burning the midnight oil
- 25:47Speaker 1: kind of like doage did. Let's find the people we
- 25:49Speaker 1: want to get rid of, and this is our chance
- 25:51Speaker 1: to do it, and and and by the way, once
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's done, like it's not like he got one from
- 25:55Speaker 1: their jobs back, like it's done.
- 25:57Speaker 2: So I think that starts happening today. I think October one,
- 26:02Speaker 2: you start seeing pink slips. I think we will see
- 26:06Speaker 2: left wing bureaucrats fired today. I think we'll see them
- 26:10Speaker 2: fired tomorrow.
- 26:12Speaker 3: You know.
- 26:12Speaker 2: This evening, I had dinner with the Deputy Secretary of
- 26:15Speaker 2: HHS who's a longtime friend of mine. He was actually
- 26:18Speaker 2: a groomsm in my wedding. Great guy, I asked him.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I said, okay, the White House asked every cabinet agency
- 26:24Speaker 2: preparing list of people for the riff, and he said, yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 2: we're doing that. He said, every agency, when the White
- 26:31Speaker 2: House directs us to do that, we do that. We're
- 26:34Speaker 2: going to see I think hundreds, if not thousands of
- 26:37Speaker 2: left wing bureaucrats fired in the next several days. I
- 26:41Speaker 2: think that's going to put the Democrat Party in crisis.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And by the way, we're not going to fire people
- 26:47Speaker 2: that are critical for the priorities you and I care about.
- 26:51Speaker 2: So we're not going to see border patrol agents who
- 26:53Speaker 2: are securing the border fired. We're not going to see
- 26:56Speaker 2: ice agents who are deporting gang bangers fired. We're not
- 26:59Speaker 2: going to see FBI agents who are catching pedophiles, We're
- 27:03Speaker 2: not going to see them fired. We're not going to
- 27:05Speaker 2: see soldiers and sailors at airmen and marines who are
- 27:09Speaker 2: keeping this nation safe. We're not going to see them fired.
- 27:12Speaker 2: We're going to see bureaucrats who are shutting down factories,
- 27:17Speaker 2: who are destroying jobs, who are pursuing radical left wing agendas.
- 27:23Speaker 2: They're going to be the ones fired, and ultimately the
- 27:26Speaker 2: Democrats are going to cave. The only question is how
- 27:29Speaker 2: long Schumer wants to go through this charade before he gives.
- 27:34Speaker 1: In, which brings me my final question, that is the
- 27:37Speaker 1: media does seem to be covering this a little bit
- 27:40Speaker 1: more with honesty than I've ever seen them before. Today
- 27:43Speaker 1: there was a viral clip that is the tables have
- 27:46Speaker 1: been turned. Democrats are now literally under fire for a
- 27:50Speaker 1: clip that shows them slamming government shut down tactics, the
- 27:54Speaker 1: same ones they're accused of using right now. And here's
- 27:57Speaker 1: what it sounded like back in twenty eighteen. In December
- 27:59Speaker 1: of twenty eight team Donald Trump's President Chuck schimern An's
- 28:02Speaker 1: posy in the Oval Office listen.
- 28:05Speaker 5: We do not want to shut down the government because
- 28:07Speaker 5: you can me say something, mister President of North Dakota.
- 28:12Speaker 6: And the most unfortunate, and we came in here in
- 28:14Speaker 6: good faith and we're entering into this kind of a
- 28:19Speaker 6: discussion in.
- 28:20Speaker 3: The public.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Transparency.
- 28:24Speaker 5: I know, it's high transparency when we're not certipulating to.
- 28:27Speaker 2: A set of facts.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I mean, you listen to that one, they're like, we're
- 28:31Speaker 1: not in favor of it. And then the speaker also
- 28:33Speaker 1: put out a very interesting yes video montage reminding people
- 28:40Speaker 1: the same thing, like, Hey, you guys think that it's
- 28:43Speaker 1: the Democrats Mike Johnson putting this out and here he
- 28:46Speaker 1: is and what he said to remind the people about
- 28:48Speaker 1: Democrats in their own words, it is not.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Normal to shut down the government when we don't get
- 28:56Speaker 6: what we want.
- 28:57Speaker 5: If the government shuts down, it will be average Americas
- 29:00Speaker 5: who suffer most. A government shutdown means seniors who rely
- 29:04Speaker 5: on Social Security could be thrown into chaos.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Families will be hurt, farmers will be hurt. It's the
- 29:11Speaker 2: service members who will work without a paycheck.
- 29:14Speaker 6: I mean, it's the firefighters who will be furlough this
- 29:18Speaker 6: shut down.
- 29:18Speaker 1: You know who's going to feel the pain. You know
- 29:20Speaker 1: who it hurts you everyday, people and the most vulnerable seniors, veterans,
- 29:26Speaker 1: working families, hungering kids.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Y'all Democratic signaling that they're ready for fight this time.
- 29:36Speaker 6: Sumer told the Associated Press, Well, things have changed.
- 29:40Speaker 2: It is not normal to shut down the government when
- 29:42Speaker 2: we don't get.
- 29:43Speaker 1: What we want. I mean, I love them using AOC's words,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I feel like the media has changed a little bit.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Here your thoughts on.
- 29:51Speaker 2: That, Well, I'm impressed that you recognize AOC's voice.
- 29:55Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I knew that was a shrill Democrat. I didn't know
- 29:58Speaker 2: who that was. So I appreciate that clarity. Listen, every
- 30:04Speaker 2: single Democrat, I think, without exception, has gone on record
- 30:07Speaker 2: being against shutdowns. The fact that they shut it all
- 30:11Speaker 2: down today demonstrates what utter hypocrites they are. And I
- 30:14Speaker 2: got to say as I was walking off the Senate floor,
- 30:17Speaker 2: so I voted to fund the government this afternoon. The
- 30:21Speaker 2: Democrats voted against it and caused a shut down. All
- 30:25Speaker 2: the reporters were circling, and their talking point that they
- 30:28Speaker 2: really wanted to press is they said, Okay, cruise. In
- 30:32Speaker 2: twenty thirteen, in the fight over Obamacare, you, Ted Cruz
- 30:38Speaker 2: forced to shut down. Isn't that what the Democrats are
- 30:41Speaker 2: doing now? And I just started laughing at them, and
- 30:44Speaker 2: I said, look, number one, in twenty thirteen, when I
- 30:48Speaker 2: did a twenty one hour filibuster on the floor, I
- 30:52Speaker 2: was fighting for Americans. I was fighting for American citizens
- 30:56Speaker 2: whose healthcare premiums had skyrocketed. And they had skyrocketed because
- 31:00Speaker 2: Obamacare was a train wreck. It was a disaster. It
- 31:03Speaker 2: caused a massive increase in health insurance premiums. It made
- 31:07Speaker 2: the health insurance companies rich, and it made millions of
- 31:12Speaker 2: ordinary Americans unable to afford health insurance. And by the way,
- 31:16Speaker 2: I was also fighting for it at a time when
- 31:19Speaker 2: the House of Representatives that was Republican had voted to
- 31:23Speaker 2: fund the federal government, fund the entirety of the federal government,
- 31:27Speaker 2: but not fund Obamacare, so not fund the law that
- 31:31Speaker 2: was causing damage to American citizens. And I said, here,
- 31:34Speaker 2: what's happening is Chuck Schumer is shutting down the federal
- 31:38Speaker 2: government not to help American citizens who are getting hurt,
- 31:41Speaker 2: but he's shutting down the federal government in order to
- 31:44Speaker 2: help millions of illegal aliens and give them free health care.
- 31:49Speaker 2: And he's willing to shut down your federal government to
- 31:52Speaker 2: give free health care to illegals, and that fundamentally there's
- 31:57Speaker 2: a hypocrisy to it. And I also said, said, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 2: the reporters were like, isn't it the same? And I said, listen,
- 32:04Speaker 2: let me be clear. In twenty thirteen, it was Chuck
- 32:09Speaker 2: Schumer who shut the government down. Then I was trying
- 32:12Speaker 2: to fund the entirety of the federal government except for Obamacare,
- 32:15Speaker 2: and Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid decided, no, we'll shut
- 32:18Speaker 2: it all down because we care so much about socialized medicine.
- 32:22Speaker 2: And I told the reporters we had like fifty reporters
- 32:24Speaker 2: standing outside the Senate Florida. I said, look, none of
- 32:27Speaker 2: you guys reported that. You all blamed the shutdown on
- 32:30Speaker 2: me because you're all left wing hacks. Yeah, today, all
- 32:35Speaker 2: of you are still left wing hacks. You agree with
- 32:38Speaker 2: the Democrats. But the facts are so overwhelming. It is
- 32:42Speaker 2: Chuck Schumer and the Democrats who are shutting the government
- 32:45Speaker 2: down that even you dishonest liars are reporting. This is
- 32:49Speaker 2: the Schumer shutdown because the House has funded the government
- 32:54Speaker 2: exactly the status quo. The funding yesterday has continued to tomorrow.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It is the Democrats who said let's shut it down,
- 33:03Speaker 2: and I think at the end of the day they're
- 33:05Speaker 2: going to lose that battle. But this is what you
- 33:09Speaker 2: got to ask yourself, is how long do the Democrats
- 33:11Speaker 2: have to perform for their crazy left wing activists before
- 33:16Speaker 2: they allow the government.
- 33:17Speaker 1: To reopen until the poll tells them otherwise. Is my guess.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting. I have a feeling you're right,
- 33:23Speaker 1: we're gonna be talking about this for but but you know.
- 33:25Speaker 2: What that they're not gonna trust. They're not going to
- 33:27Speaker 2: trust the polls from that right wing mouthpiece and in
- 33:33Speaker 2: the New York Times. But but but but maybe I
- 33:35Speaker 2: don't know. When Mother Jones and and you know, Communist
- 33:39Speaker 2: Party of America as a poll that shows they're losing,
- 33:41Speaker 2: maybe then they'll give up.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Maybe maybe then we're gonna cover it all. Don't forget.
