- 1:44Speaker 1: How are you? How are you? Did I missing the thing? Asked,
- 1:47Speaker 1: because you know you got a lot to talk about?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Did I miss anything? You know? I want to make
- 1:50Speaker 1: sure everybody know you are the ball, you know when
- 1:53Speaker 1: it comes to what we're about talking about. You know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I get a lot of people on the show that
- 1:56Speaker 1: they kind of have the credits they you know, they
- 1:58Speaker 1: have thrown some credits out there, but you your credit
- 2:00Speaker 1: is all at the top of the food chain credits there.
- 2:03Speaker 1: You know, how do you feel about that? When you
- 2:06Speaker 1: where you You're out there working in your brain, because
- 2:08Speaker 1: that's what it's all about. You gotta you gotta gain
- 2:11Speaker 1: respect for your brand. Then you have to put it
- 2:13Speaker 1: out there so people can know about your brand. Because
- 2:16Speaker 1: you left Wall Street, tell about tell us about just update.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mentioned that in the credits updates about how did
- 2:21Speaker 1: you make that decision? Because a lot of people are
- 2:23Speaker 1: afraid when they leave in a solid bage to something
- 2:26Speaker 1: that's not so clear. I think for me, when I
- 2:31Speaker 1: never wanted to be an entrepreneur, I always wanted to
- 2:33Speaker 1: be a profound African American on Wall Street. So so
- 2:37Speaker 1: after being there, ultimately my goal was to do something
- 2:41Speaker 1: bigger and better. I think working on Wall st I
- 2:43Speaker 1: worked a millionaires and millionaire so if you had at
- 2:45Speaker 1: least twenty five million dollars, it was our job to
- 2:48Speaker 1: manage your money. And after a while, where you are
- 2:50Speaker 1: working with millionaires and millionaires and you realize that you
- 2:53Speaker 1: deserve to be just like the client, when you're on
- 2:55Speaker 1: the other end of the table, you realize you're not
- 2:57Speaker 1: going to get there serving the wealthy people. And for me,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I always actually wanted to be a teacher. I just
- 3:03Speaker 1: never became a teacher because in my mind, I felt
- 3:05Speaker 1: like teachers didn't make a lot of money. So if
- 3:07Speaker 1: I wanted to make a lot of money, I needed
- 3:09Speaker 1: to major in the subjective money and I needed to
- 3:10Speaker 1: work on Wall Street. But after a while, I felt
- 3:13Speaker 1: like that the things that I was learning, what I
- 3:15Speaker 1: was getting exposed. So I saw where people were spending
- 3:17Speaker 1: their money, where they were traveling, where they were living,
- 3:19Speaker 1: what they were investing in, and I felt like you
- 3:20Speaker 1: shouldn't have to come from money work in finance major
- 3:23Speaker 1: and finance to learn how to manage, save, and invest
- 3:26Speaker 1: your money. And so ultimately I just got to a
- 3:28Speaker 1: point where I had a feeling I knew something was
- 3:30Speaker 1: out there, bigger and better, and I did take that leap.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It wasn't the easiest thing I did. I did lose
- 3:35Speaker 1: a lot along the way, but for me, it was
- 3:37Speaker 1: it was it wasn't about the money anymore, was about
- 3:40Speaker 1: what was the inside of me saying, what was what
- 3:43Speaker 1: was my calling? And I knew that I was here
- 3:44Speaker 1: for something bigger. I think teaching rich people rich wasn't it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: But I needed that experience to make sure that I
- 3:50Speaker 1: had the tools and resources to educate people who did
- 3:53Speaker 1: not get the same exposure that I was giving. Now
- 3:56Speaker 1: do you know because I'm driving my money? I think
- 3:58Speaker 1: everybody was driven my money. With the college, my degrees
- 4:01Speaker 1: in mathematics and started out and civil engineering because I
- 4:04Speaker 1: felt that would pay me the most money that I
- 4:06Speaker 1: realized that wasn't my calling, and eventually my degree was
- 4:08Speaker 1: in mathematics, my minus and sociology. Do you driven by?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Are you driven my money or you driven about the
- 4:14Speaker 1: opportunity to make money? I don't think I'm driven about either.
- 4:18Speaker 1: To be honest, I think I'm a big proponent of
- 4:21Speaker 1: just knowing that success makes noise because I remember, even
- 4:24Speaker 1: when I left my Ball Street career, people were like,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you left from working with millionaires and billionaires to work
- 4:29Speaker 1: with people who don't have money, and it made me
- 4:31Speaker 1: feel like I was crazy, But in all actuality, I
- 4:34Speaker 1: was just like yes, And for me, I created a space.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I mean, we all say we don't learn about financial
- 4:39Speaker 1: education in schools, but nobody really wants to go put
- 4:42Speaker 1: it into the school system because it's not the norm.
- 4:44Speaker 1: For me, it was like, this has to happen, this
- 4:46Speaker 1: will happens, and I'm going to figure out how to
- 4:48Speaker 1: make your work. And then I started to make money.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So for me, I chose happiness over money. And the
- 4:54Speaker 1: more I focused on serving people, the more I focused
- 4:56Speaker 1: on doing what I felt was my purpose you driven life,
- 5:00Speaker 1: calling um, the more money started to come to me.
- 5:03Speaker 1: So I created a space where I would go pitch
- 5:05Speaker 1: schools and find out how they ran their schools, understanding
- 5:09Speaker 1: how they ran their budgets, to say, hey, let me
- 5:11Speaker 1: teach financial education to these students. But I think I
- 5:14Speaker 1: created a need that was once there, but no one
- 5:17Speaker 1: knew how to provide that need, and so and all
- 5:20Speaker 1: honesty tasting money when I didn't, I wasn't happy. So
- 5:23Speaker 1: and I realized, let me just do what makes actually happy,
- 5:25Speaker 1: because I'd rather wake up every single day during what
- 5:27Speaker 1: I love, doing what I love and serving the people
- 5:30Speaker 1: that I served. Opportunities come to me so much more
- 5:34Speaker 1: than when I was just looking to make money. And
- 5:36Speaker 1: I think also to when you're just looking to make money,
- 5:38Speaker 1: people can feel that like I can't teach financial education
- 5:41Speaker 1: to people who don't have a lot of money, And
- 5:43Speaker 1: then looking to make money off of them. Now it
- 5:45Speaker 1: defeats the whole purpose of me serving the world that
- 5:47Speaker 1: I felt like God put me here to serve, and
- 5:49Speaker 1: so I found that the more I served, the bigger
- 5:53Speaker 1: the opportunities got. The bigger the opportunities got, the more
- 5:56Speaker 1: people saw that it worked, and the more successful I became.
- 6:00Speaker 1: To Ashley and Fox, he's a financial education specialists. Uh,
- 6:03Speaker 1: about two years since we spoken Ashley and the whole
- 6:07Speaker 1: your curriculum in schools as elevated or fifty different schools.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Now that's ironic that you said you wanted to be
- 6:15Speaker 1: a school teacher and you left to be in finance,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and now you're back to implementing school So you basically
- 6:22Speaker 1: are doing what you wanted to do, but you're continuing
- 6:26Speaker 1: controlling the tone, you know, the tone of you know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: in other words, you know, you create a curriculum that
- 6:31Speaker 1: that values your passion and now you're teaching it as
- 6:34Speaker 1: a school teacher would teach your brand and educate the
- 6:37Speaker 1: masses like you wanted to do. Wanted to do. And
- 6:39Speaker 1: so when you when you when you talk about young people,
- 6:42Speaker 1: what is the difference that you find the most unique
- 6:44Speaker 1: when you're talking to young people about money and talking
- 6:47Speaker 1: to adults about money. I think working with kids, there's
- 6:52Speaker 1: there Okay, So when you're an adult, we were once
- 6:55Speaker 1: that child where possibilities were infinite. Once that that child
- 6:59Speaker 1: who thought we could do, be and have everything. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: the more we grow up include including our experiences growing
- 7:05Speaker 1: up with our parents and our environment, society, the news,
- 7:08Speaker 1: we then we then don't feel like it's possible. So
- 7:14Speaker 1: we feel like we have to go to work every
- 7:15Speaker 1: single day because we have to say bills. That dream
- 7:17Speaker 1: of being happy no longer exists because we feel like
- 7:19Speaker 1: we gotta do what we gotta do. We're going with
- 7:21Speaker 1: a child, the possibilities are infinite, shifting their mindset is infinite,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and I think there's less conditioning when you deal with
- 7:30Speaker 1: a child than it is with a deult. Now it's
- 7:31Speaker 1: not impossible with an adult. You just gotta break through
- 7:34Speaker 1: a lot more barriers because they've been told no too
- 7:37Speaker 1: many times, they've been afraid too often. Whereas a child,
- 7:40Speaker 1: they still believe it's possible. A child hasn't seen a bill,
- 7:42Speaker 1: So let me prepare you for what a bill looks like,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but then also show you how you can build wealth
- 7:47Speaker 1: like the people you idolize, but let me start early
- 7:49Speaker 1: so that you don't make the same mistakes that adults
- 7:52Speaker 1: have made in the past. Um So in all, honestly,
- 7:55Speaker 1: it's it's a lot easier to teach a child because
- 7:57Speaker 1: they believe, and also they are there to learn. They
- 8:01Speaker 1: know they're coming to school to learn. Where adults their fear,
- 8:04Speaker 1: there's doubt, there's worried, there's I don't have times a child,
- 8:07Speaker 1: they don't have those excuses because essentially their kids, they
- 8:09Speaker 1: haven't gotten to that point in life where they where
- 8:11Speaker 1: they would tell themselves know because society has told them
- 8:15Speaker 1: not too often. You know, that's really important that you
- 8:18Speaker 1: say that. I would tell people that when they look
- 8:20Speaker 1: at their life when they hit forty and fifty, that
- 8:22Speaker 1: they really when you don't know what you want to
- 8:24Speaker 1: do with your life, just look at look back when
- 8:26Speaker 1: you was eighteen. We were fearless when you had dreams
- 8:30Speaker 1: that like you stated, the dreams of the impossible. Until
- 8:33Speaker 1: you started putting up these stop sign or you got mad,
- 8:36Speaker 1: or you went off to the military assignment, or or
- 8:38Speaker 1: you just your dreams are I can't do this because
- 8:41Speaker 1: we are very self defeating rate of people. Once we
- 8:45Speaker 1: reach a certain age, I'm not going to try to
- 8:46Speaker 1: do that. And that's what a lot of people just
- 8:48Speaker 1: kind of like give up, to give up on how
- 8:49Speaker 1: they look in the mirror they give them on what
- 8:51Speaker 1: they can do in the car they drive, the host
- 8:53Speaker 1: that live, the neighborhood they live in. And that really
- 8:55Speaker 1: is true because as a young person, all you see
- 8:58Speaker 1: is what I could can be. And I always tell people,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I never tell a child what they can't be, not
- 9:04Speaker 1: if they not if they can't sing, I'll tell hey,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you know you can't sing now, you need to stop
- 9:08Speaker 1: all that madness. Okay, maybe you can wrap now, try
- 9:10Speaker 1: wrap it, but you can't sing, okay, and you know
- 9:12Speaker 1: you can't dunk. But from a physical standpoint, but from
- 9:15Speaker 1: a mental standpoint, you you're unlimited on what you can
- 9:18Speaker 1: do as long as you stand in the length of
- 9:20Speaker 1: what you're capable of doing. And that's what you were
- 9:22Speaker 1: just implemented right there that adults tend to doing the
- 9:25Speaker 1: teaching process. They got all these limitters that they keep
- 9:28Speaker 1: putting in their brain. I don't have enough money to
- 9:30Speaker 1: do that, I don't have time to do that. Why
- 9:33Speaker 1: would I want to do that? While you just telling
- 9:34Speaker 1: them how they're telling themselves what they can't do. That's
- 9:37Speaker 1: really distracted when you're trying to teach people how to
- 9:40Speaker 1: be successful. Can you can you can you can you
- 9:43Speaker 1: get them to overcome that, or you just lay down
- 9:46Speaker 1: the plan and some so I'm not gonna do it,
- 9:49Speaker 1: and a lot of are not gonna do it. So
- 9:52Speaker 1: I'm a firm believer that things are not taught, they're caught,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and I think when people are ready, they'll be open
- 9:58Speaker 1: to it. So one of the biggest things, and this
- 10:00Speaker 1: is since since I've left my Wall Street career, I've
- 10:02Speaker 1: never solicited what I did. I never said, hey, I
- 10:05Speaker 1: can show you how to make a bunch of money.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Let me show you how to do this. I get
- 10:09Speaker 1: people to a point where they're ready. They've exhausted all options,
- 10:12Speaker 1: they've taken the classes they could take, they went to
- 10:14Speaker 1: the bank, they try to learn everything possible, yet they
- 10:16Speaker 1: don't feel connected to the people that are providing the
- 10:19Speaker 1: information that they need. And they get to a point
- 10:21Speaker 1: where they say, Okay, I'm frustrated being frustrated, but I
- 10:23Speaker 1: know I deserve to make a change. And ultimately that's
- 10:26Speaker 1: why the word emplathied with community because it's one thing
- 10:29Speaker 1: to give people education, but in all honestly, everything we
- 10:31Speaker 1: teach you can google it. But the real question is
- 10:34Speaker 1: why don't we take that information off of Google and
- 10:36Speaker 1: actually implement it. That means that there's a mental barrier
- 10:39Speaker 1: that is stopping us from executing on the information we
- 10:42Speaker 1: have access to. And I think it's one thing to
- 10:44Speaker 1: get information, but it's also another thing to get that
- 10:46Speaker 1: with inspiration. And so that's where the empower part of
- 10:49Speaker 1: emplathied comes in. The first three letters are emp that
- 10:52Speaker 1: comes from empower because I can give you the resources,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but I need you to feel empowered to know that
- 10:56Speaker 1: you can do something with these resources. No matter where
- 10:59Speaker 1: you are and how much you have, it is still possible.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And then ultimately, when you have that inspiration, you have
- 11:04Speaker 1: the tools and resources, and then changes the way you
- 11:07Speaker 1: see yourself in the role of money in your life,
- 11:09Speaker 1: which is where modified comes from, because that's where the
- 11:11Speaker 1: change takes place. And so ultimately we start with the mind.
- 11:15Speaker 1: If I can change your mind, I can change your
- 11:17Speaker 1: bank account. So we focus on your thought process. We
- 11:20Speaker 1: know what you feel, we know what you're dreaming of,
- 11:22Speaker 1: we know what what's uncomfortable for you, and we literally
- 11:25Speaker 1: do the complete opposite of that. And then once we
- 11:27Speaker 1: do that, give you the tools and resources, and then
- 11:29Speaker 1: you realize, hey, I actually can do this. Hey maybe
- 11:31Speaker 1: these beliefs that I have are not mine. Maybe society
- 11:34Speaker 1: put them in my mind, maybe my parents gave me
- 11:36Speaker 1: these fears, but they're not my narrative. And so we
- 11:39Speaker 1: take those narratives and those beliefs and we change the
- 11:42Speaker 1: thinking behind the person with the money, and once you
- 11:44Speaker 1: have the tools and resources, you go running after that
- 11:47Speaker 1: answering and fox Um. You know when I InterVID you
- 11:51Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, you's a bad girl. Back
- 11:53Speaker 1: then you're on fine, you're on fire. I'm just listened
- 11:58Speaker 1: to you going this girl here is you know, because
- 12:01Speaker 1: we all learned. I've learned, I've grown, I've grown as
- 12:03Speaker 1: an interview I've grown as a person my brain. I
- 12:06Speaker 1: know exactly where my brand is and pushing it in
- 12:08Speaker 1: the right direction. And I'm listening to a person who's
- 12:10Speaker 1: really focused, who knows. And I'm not saying you wouldn't
- 12:12Speaker 1: focus when I first interview, but you won't fire. Now.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Tell us what makes you have such a strong comference
- 12:19Speaker 1: zone and how did you get to this point to
- 12:21Speaker 1: be as comfortable as I'm hearing you speak now, and
- 12:24Speaker 1: as I've been following your brand on social media every
- 12:26Speaker 1: time the article pops up, I reading about Ashley and
- 12:29Speaker 1: Fox tell us this whole march too, And I know
- 12:32Speaker 1: you're not there where you're trying to get, but I
- 12:34Speaker 1: do notice a different tone, a different message being spoken
- 12:37Speaker 1: by Ashley and Fox. Am I right? Absolutely? Um? I think.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think. I think as the as I grow, the
- 12:45Speaker 1: company grows. I think There's been a lot of years
- 12:48Speaker 1: of spiritual internal words, a lot of years of therapy. Um. Also,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and to be honest, me recognizing what my beliefs were right.
- 12:55Speaker 1: One of the biggest things that I've noticed is while
- 12:58Speaker 1: I can sit and say, hey, want to be a millionaire,
- 13:01Speaker 1: the idea of having a million dollars actually frightens me. Right,
- 13:04Speaker 1: So there's times where I want to have big dreams,
- 13:07Speaker 1: but when I'm presented with the opportunity, I get scared.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Remember when I got my first six figure contract. It
- 13:12Speaker 1: was just this mind blowing experience, but it was like, Hey,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you can't sit here and say you want to be
- 13:16Speaker 1: a billionaire and you're afraid to cash a check for
- 13:19Speaker 1: over a hundred thousand dollars. And so I think as
- 13:22Speaker 1: I break through my mental barriers, as I do more,
- 13:25Speaker 1: the company rolls right along with me. So I personally
- 13:28Speaker 1: do not teach anything that I do not do or
- 13:31Speaker 1: have not done. And it's a lot easier because it's
- 13:34Speaker 1: not just about I read a book and I learned
- 13:36Speaker 1: how to teach individuals how to invest in stocks. It's no,
- 13:39Speaker 1: this is how I started, this is what I've learned,
- 13:41Speaker 1: and this is what I do, and let me try
- 13:43Speaker 1: to understand you, to make it, to make it easier
- 13:46Speaker 1: for you to understand it. So I think the more
- 13:49Speaker 1: I grow, the bigger I get, the more people I served.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So we recently we recently UM launched our Wealth Filters
- 13:55Speaker 1: community at I would have never envisioned me being a
- 13:58Speaker 1: black woman in tech, right, but every more running I
- 14:00Speaker 1: would wake up, go into the mirror and say, you
- 14:03Speaker 1: are you are the owner of a of an a
- 14:06Speaker 1: tech startup. You are the owner of an app that
- 14:08Speaker 1: impacts thousands of people from all over the world. And
- 14:10Speaker 1: then when it happened, it was just like, oh my
- 14:12Speaker 1: gosh is here. But it wasn't about something that I wanted.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It was about who I was and I'm a firm
- 14:16Speaker 1: believer you don't attract what you want, you attract who
- 14:19Speaker 1: you are. So when I started to believe I deserve
- 14:22Speaker 1: six figure contract, when I started to look at a
- 14:24Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars like it wasn't a lot of money,
- 14:26Speaker 1: that's when the money started to come faster. But when
- 14:29Speaker 1: I was afraid the money was coming slower, when I
- 14:31Speaker 1: was afraid I would lose money, money was coming slower.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But if I knew that I was gonna keep going,
- 14:35Speaker 1: that this was gonna work and I'm gonna change the world.
- 14:38Speaker 1: When I changed my thinking, the company changes. So I
- 14:40Speaker 1: think again. As I grow, the company grows, the bigger
- 14:43Speaker 1: I get, the company get, and not just me as
- 14:46Speaker 1: an individual or a brand, but my thought process. Like
- 14:49Speaker 1: understanding that hey, we could make a quarter million dollars
- 14:52Speaker 1: in a month and saying that doesn't frighten me anymore, right,
- 14:55Speaker 1: but at one point, making ten thousand dollars in a
- 14:57Speaker 1: month that scared me. At one point. Now it's like
- 15:00Speaker 1: I can't pay my bills with ten dollars. We gotta
- 15:02Speaker 1: do bigger things. We gotta get better thing. But the
- 15:04Speaker 1: more people we impact, the bigger the business get to
- 15:07Speaker 1: so I focus on serving the people because if we
- 15:10Speaker 1: could serve a billion people, we could make a billion dollars.
- 15:13Speaker 1: And now le's figure out how do we get to
- 15:15Speaker 1: a billion people to reach that mark? You know, when
- 15:18Speaker 1: we started this interview, actually said how many minutes that guy?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Because see, you know she got something to say. Now,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm so impressed with your tone and your leadership in
- 15:28Speaker 1: this call, because that's all I want from individuals who
- 15:31Speaker 1: called me on money making conversation for their message to
- 15:34Speaker 1: be heard. And you're absolutely right unless you believe in something.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I know for years, Ashley, as successful as I have
- 15:41Speaker 1: been in my life, it wasn't into my forties that
- 15:44Speaker 1: I realized that I accepted my success based on who
- 15:48Speaker 1: I was and what I was capable doing. I just
- 15:51Speaker 1: used phrases like right place, right time, just lucky, I
- 15:54Speaker 1: know somebody your knock on wood, all those corny phrases
- 15:58Speaker 1: that have nothing to do with being successful, and people
- 16:00Speaker 1: use them all the time. And what those phrases do.
- 16:03Speaker 1: They limit your capabilities and also limit you and knowledge
- 16:07Speaker 1: of what you really are capable of doing. And I
- 16:10Speaker 1: like you. I remember in Steve Harvey now or Jameson,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but we need a concert in the Music Hall in Houston, Texas.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And I was my first concert that ever promoted. And
- 16:21Speaker 1: I had to write a check to Steve for fifty
- 16:24Speaker 1: seven thousand dollars and that's five and I went, I
- 16:29Speaker 1: couldn't believe I was writing that check, just like you
- 16:31Speaker 1: couldn't believe you had a six figure and and and
- 16:34Speaker 1: and the thing about this is that once you believe
- 16:37Speaker 1: and understand that this is part of your life, part
- 16:39Speaker 1: of your mantra, part of your mentality, then guess what,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you can write another check like that. But if you
- 16:45Speaker 1: stop in disbelief and all and get giddy like this
- 16:49Speaker 1: is not normal, and that's all she's saying right now.
- 16:52Speaker 1: This is the normal way she thinks. Now she the
- 16:54Speaker 1: people that she was doing these twenty five million dollars
- 16:56Speaker 1: and these billion dollar deals with, and all these people
- 16:59Speaker 1: around believe me, they think a certain way. And I
- 17:01Speaker 1: think a certain way too, because guess what, I'm successful.
- 17:04Speaker 1: So I go on the grocery store. I don't If
- 17:06Speaker 1: I have a coupon, I use it, and I'll tell
- 17:08Speaker 1: you that I'll use it. But guess what, I'm just
- 17:10Speaker 1: going to grocer store and shop. And in fact, sometimes
- 17:13Speaker 1: I walked out to the grocery store O the day.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I don't even know how much I pay for groceries.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I just gave my credit card because that's not part
- 17:20Speaker 1: of my mantra to worry about how much I'm gonna spend.
- 17:24Speaker 1: It's the fact that I have money that can buy it,
- 17:27Speaker 1: and that is the mantra that people have to do
- 17:29Speaker 1: as an adult. You get to that point you start saying,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I can't live in this type of house, I can't
- 17:34Speaker 1: drive this because because guess what, I don't have to
- 17:37Speaker 1: tax money. I don't well, what's gonna happen next year? Well,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I don't think like that. Be successful people playing next year,
- 17:45Speaker 1: they don't think what's not gonna happen next year? If
- 17:47Speaker 1: you plan next year, I'm a six month, I'm a year.
- 17:51Speaker 1: The average person thinks thirty days, and you cannot be
- 17:55Speaker 1: successful thinking in thirty day increments in your life because
- 17:58Speaker 1: it means you worry about the rent, worry aboutuff did.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You actually should be controlling by planning. And that's why
- 18:03Speaker 1: I wanted to bring you back on the show because
- 18:05Speaker 1: the mentality you've always talked about hasn't been about planning.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Correct m h In abundance. Don't forget abundance. And with
- 18:14Speaker 1: that being said, this has been the pandemic year. You
- 18:17Speaker 1: know there shut us down find that. I know you've
- 18:19Speaker 1: been busy. I know people been asking you, how to
- 18:22Speaker 1: how to budget, how to save money? How can you
- 18:25Speaker 1: invest in the pandemic? And the wild thing about the
- 18:29Speaker 1: stock barkt is actually when this pandemic hit in March,
- 18:32Speaker 1: it crashed. But the spark Barber has sent some records
- 18:36Speaker 1: this year as far as it's a lot of millionaires
- 18:39Speaker 1: and billionaire's pretty happy out there during the pandemic. How
- 18:42Speaker 1: do you invest during the pandemic? Ashley and Fox So honestly,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I think well in two thousand and eight was the
- 18:49Speaker 1: most outside of the stock market crash was the previous
- 18:52Speaker 1: stock market crash, and I was in college and I
- 18:54Speaker 1: remember watching the news not fully understanding is back when
- 18:58Speaker 1: I was I think it was a junior in college.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Se I was a junior or fock work, and I
- 19:02Speaker 1: realized that it was something going on. It's exciting the
- 19:05Speaker 1: watch that I wasn't fully clear. As I got educated
- 19:07Speaker 1: with the stock market, I realized the next time the
- 19:09Speaker 1: market crashes, I'm going to go in because the way
- 19:13Speaker 1: I look at crashes. I look at it like it's
- 19:14Speaker 1: a Black Friday sale. Everything drops in price, and in
- 19:18Speaker 1: all honesty, that is the only time we see red
- 19:21Speaker 1: and we panic. If we walk into the store and
- 19:23Speaker 1: we see red, we know that's on sale, we want
- 19:25Speaker 1: to buy it. But when we see red in the
- 19:27Speaker 1: stock market, we get frightened. And I think when the
- 19:29Speaker 1: stock market crash, and again it had every right to
- 19:31Speaker 1: crash because there was so much uncertainty. We had no
- 19:34Speaker 1: idea what's going to happen. But because of that, I
- 19:36Speaker 1: also had to ask myself our companies like an Apple
- 19:40Speaker 1: or Walmart, of grocery store and Amazon, are all these
- 19:44Speaker 1: companies gonna go out of business because we are in quarantine?
- 19:47Speaker 1: When in fact, let's be smart. While restaurants maybe taking
- 19:50Speaker 1: a hit, what are we doing more of more on
- 19:53Speaker 1: our phones? Were doing more social media, We're watching more
- 19:55Speaker 1: of television. We have to go to the grocery store.
- 19:57Speaker 1: So immediately I took my thought process It's like who
- 20:00Speaker 1: who's winning right now? Who is going to come out
- 20:02Speaker 1: of this strong because everybody took a hit. But in
- 20:05Speaker 1: my mind, these companies, with time will go back up
- 20:09Speaker 1: and living my portfolio is up over a hundred percent
- 20:12Speaker 1: because when I saw the opportunity to buy at a
- 20:14Speaker 1: cheap price, I took advantage of it. And so whether
- 20:17Speaker 1: the market crashes, whether the market is up, you have
- 20:19Speaker 1: to sit and ask yourself, why am I investing, what
- 20:22Speaker 1: is this for? And who do I feel like we'll
- 20:24Speaker 1: be on top. It doesn't take a rocket scientist for
- 20:26Speaker 1: somebody to know that every time Apple releases iPhone in September,
- 20:31Speaker 1: right before the holidays, people stand in line. And then
- 20:34Speaker 1: take a rocket scientist to know that while there are
- 20:36Speaker 1: many sneaker companies out there, the number one sneaker company
- 20:39Speaker 1: in the world is Nike. Right their sales were up
- 20:41Speaker 1: two online sales during the pandemic. So while the news
- 20:45Speaker 1: is telling us people are are out of jobs, people
- 20:48Speaker 1: aren't spending money. They are spending money because we don't
- 20:50Speaker 1: have anything else to do but to be on our phones,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and they use technology, and so there are companies that
- 20:55Speaker 1: are winning. And I think you always have to look
- 20:58Speaker 1: for the opportunity versus operate and fear, because there's tons
- 21:01Speaker 1: of ways to take advantage of this pandemic. But it
- 21:04Speaker 1: all actually I think it's one of the best things
- 21:06Speaker 1: about this pandemic is that it caused everybody to be still.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It helps us realize you can't depend on the government,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you can't depend on your job. Therefore you have to
- 21:14Speaker 1: depend on yourself. And yourself is good enough. We've always
- 21:17Speaker 1: been good enough. And I think when we shift the
- 21:19Speaker 1: mindset in turn the TV all we see this as
- 21:22Speaker 1: an opportunity. Because everything happens for a reason, we just
- 21:25Speaker 1: have to see that reason as an opportunity for us
- 21:27Speaker 1: to become better, both mentally and financially. And with that
- 21:32Speaker 1: being said, what's something This may be a general question
- 21:37Speaker 1: now And if you said, rash, I don't want to
- 21:39Speaker 1: respond to that. What what? What was some of the mistakes?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Did you think that as you know, we're giving opportunities
- 21:45Speaker 1: through the Cares Act and apply for different funds and
- 21:48Speaker 1: you know a lot of a lot of people did
- 21:50Speaker 1: a lot of people didn't? But did anyone? Were there
- 21:53Speaker 1: anything that people should have done that they didn't do
- 21:56Speaker 1: during the pandemic that would have helped them out a
- 21:59Speaker 1: little bit financial? Um? What do I think we should
- 22:04Speaker 1: have turned the television off? Like in all honesty, if
- 22:06Speaker 1: you really think about what women news you hear about talk,
- 22:10Speaker 1: you hear about the coltavirus, and you hear about black
- 22:14Speaker 1: crime or crimes done on black people. Other than that,
- 22:17Speaker 1: there's nothing in the news, nothing so understanding that when
- 22:20Speaker 1: I watched these things in the news, what feelings do
- 22:23Speaker 1: they invoke? Because if it's not causing you to feel joy,
- 22:26Speaker 1: then you don't need to consume it, because the more
- 22:28Speaker 1: you internalize it, the more you're going to manifest more
- 22:31Speaker 1: of it. And so I think the biggest thing is
- 22:33Speaker 1: because we were sitting in the house, we had a television,
- 22:35Speaker 1: we were forced to consume because we can't go about
- 22:38Speaker 1: and do our normal day to day things. But I
- 22:40Speaker 1: think the biggest thing that I think people really didn't
- 22:42Speaker 1: pay attention to was the fact that this wasn't a
- 22:45Speaker 1: time of panic. This was a time to start over.
- 22:48Speaker 1: This was a time to reevaluate, This was a time
- 22:51Speaker 1: to get educated. This was the time to follow that
- 22:53Speaker 1: dream that you've been putting off. And I think instead
- 22:56Speaker 1: of focusing on how can I become better, all we
- 22:59Speaker 1: thought about is how this is making the situation worse.
- 23:02Speaker 1: And you saw that in in so many people, just
- 23:05Speaker 1: even on social media. But it was just like in
- 23:07Speaker 1: my mind, it was like immediately was okay, what does
- 23:10Speaker 1: the world need from us right now? And in the
- 23:12Speaker 1: midst of the pandemic, we made the most money we
- 23:15Speaker 1: ever made it a company in the company because we
- 23:17Speaker 1: sat and thought, what do people need from us right now?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Where can people get educated right now? How can we
- 23:22Speaker 1: serve people right now? Let's come out with our app
- 23:24Speaker 1: right now because people are sitting at home, they need
- 23:26Speaker 1: something to do. But let's now in still greatness in
- 23:29Speaker 1: these people. Let's give them the education that they can't
- 23:31Speaker 1: get in their school system. Let's given the tools and
- 23:33Speaker 1: resources you can't find on your time model or or
- 23:36Speaker 1: on your television. How can we rewire their brain at
- 23:39Speaker 1: a point where all we have is their their attention
- 23:42Speaker 1: because there's nothing else for them to do. And I
- 23:45Speaker 1: think people focusing on the opportunity is what would have
- 23:48Speaker 1: gotten us made us a lot stronger. There are a
- 23:50Speaker 1: lot of people who who did great things during the pandemic,
- 23:53Speaker 1: but there are a lot of people who every day
- 23:54Speaker 1: they woke up, they were they were scared, they want
- 23:57Speaker 1: to lose their job, they were afraid that their similar
- 23:59Speaker 1: checks wouldn't come one time. It's like, we can't live
- 24:01Speaker 1: in fear because that's all we're surrounded by we have
- 24:04Speaker 1: to literally unlearned what we have been taught to learn
- 24:07Speaker 1: that society and our upbringings have given has given us. Really,
- 24:11Speaker 1: it's really good that you're saying those things because I
- 24:14Speaker 1: just love interview and you you just really just confirm
- 24:17Speaker 1: a lot of things that I'm doing. I just like
- 24:19Speaker 1: talking us more people because I used this time when
- 24:22Speaker 1: the pandemic hit, I used it to really look at
- 24:24Speaker 1: my brand. You know. Really the first quarter was identifying
- 24:28Speaker 1: my brand. The second quarter was bringing in legal to
- 24:31Speaker 1: protect my brand, making sure all my my my tied correctly.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Then that make sure my social media lunch a new
- 24:38Speaker 1: platform called HBC Awards doing the pandemic, and in the
- 24:42Speaker 1: third quarter, I bought a office building in Atlanta. All this,
- 24:46Speaker 1: all this stuff has happened during the pandemic because I
- 24:48Speaker 1: knew in the fourth quarter, guess what, this country is
- 24:51Speaker 1: going to go to a new normal and we need
- 24:53Speaker 1: to be and will reopen and we need I need
- 24:55Speaker 1: to be functioned in the manner. So now I'm more
- 24:57Speaker 1: organized and more confident than I've ever been. And it's
- 25:00Speaker 1: basically tied of what you're just saying. You don't during
- 25:02Speaker 1: the disaster, you don't unplan. You planning. When things look bad,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you don't run. You figure out how to survive. And
- 25:09Speaker 1: so a lot of people they run and then they hide,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and then other people who don't hide see the opportunity
- 25:15Speaker 1: to succeed. And that's what you just keep repeating over
- 25:18Speaker 1: and over in such a strong manner. That's why you
- 25:21Speaker 1: built OTR brand, Amplify, which is in power, and modify
- 25:25Speaker 1: e MPs. In power, I find is the back end
- 25:29Speaker 1: of modify. And when you look at all these things,
- 25:32Speaker 1: tell us a little bit more about your app. And
- 25:34Speaker 1: also you hit it along little Bill the wealth Builders
- 25:36Speaker 1: community talk a little bit about that so we can
- 25:38Speaker 1: get a good feel and also how can we download
- 25:41Speaker 1: that and also any webinars you have coming up as
- 25:44Speaker 1: well as I always like to use your middle names.
- 25:46Speaker 1: She kind of like forget it sometime through um so
- 25:52Speaker 1: I wellfod the community at You can literally go to
- 25:54Speaker 1: wealth Builders community dot com can see everything that we offer.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Literally just imagine the net clicks of finance and the
- 26:01Speaker 1: palm of their hands. So you can go to Netflix,
- 26:03Speaker 1: you can find all the different types of entertainment. Imagine
- 26:07Speaker 1: literally saying hey, I want to learn how to invest
- 26:09Speaker 1: where can I go? And it all is in your hands,
- 26:12Speaker 1: literally lives in your account. But here's the beauty of it.
- 26:15Speaker 1: You're now going through this journey not alone, but you're
- 26:17Speaker 1: going through with thousands of people who are just like
- 26:20Speaker 1: you from all over the world. And I think we
- 26:23Speaker 1: can't at this point. We can't sit at the dinner
- 26:25Speaker 1: table and talk about learn how to build wealth. We
- 26:27Speaker 1: can't talk about how your stock portfolio was up. We
- 26:29Speaker 1: don't talk about how we're investing for our kids to
- 26:32Speaker 1: make sure that they're not taking up seven loans. We
- 26:34Speaker 1: don't have these conversations specifically in the African American community,
- 26:37Speaker 1: but this should be our norm because that is the
- 26:39Speaker 1: norm of wealthy people. They're sitting on their yachts talking
- 26:42Speaker 1: about big deals that they're closing, when in all actuality,
- 26:45Speaker 1: that's why they continue to sustain their wealth. The conversation
- 26:48Speaker 1: is different, the thought process is different, and so ultimately
- 26:51Speaker 1: our wealth for this community is a is an intimate
- 26:54Speaker 1: space where you can come together with people who are
- 26:56Speaker 1: just like you on the same journey, both working professionals
- 26:59Speaker 1: and entrepreneurs. Is where you're learning how to build well
- 27:02Speaker 1: vibrate layer by layer, where you're celebrating for your successes.
- 27:06Speaker 1: When you learn, you're learning how to open an account,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you're processing and transaction, but you're getting advice, tools and
- 27:11Speaker 1: resources not only from experts but also people who have
- 27:14Speaker 1: been in your shoes. But they are growing every single
- 27:17Speaker 1: day because they made well building a choice, they made
- 27:20Speaker 1: it a commitment, and that's ultimately what our community is about.
- 27:23Speaker 1: So we have classes on a weekly basis. We're literally
- 27:27Speaker 1: about to launch our Parent Accelerator because a lot of
- 27:30Speaker 1: our members are parents and it's during the time when
- 27:32Speaker 1: it's holiday season. Q four. We're spending tons of money.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Companies are projected to make billions this holiday season. Why
- 27:39Speaker 1: is it that we're making all these billion dollar businesses
- 27:41Speaker 1: more money and we look up and we still feel
- 27:43Speaker 1: like we have nothing. So we're now literally educating our
- 27:47Speaker 1: adults to say, hey, it's great to buy gifts for
- 27:49Speaker 1: your family, but what about the gifts of wealth. What
- 27:51Speaker 1: about buying your kid that stopped in the sneaker company
- 27:54Speaker 1: because you know the kids are gonna speaking our holiday season, right,
- 27:57Speaker 1: But educating the parents to think all of things. Your
- 28:00Speaker 1: parents did not give you all the tools and resources
- 28:03Speaker 1: you wish you would have had. Let me show you
- 28:05Speaker 1: how to literally educate your children so that you can
- 28:08Speaker 1: build for them. So it's literally like amplified now with
- 28:11Speaker 1: this particular accelerator that we're launching in our app is
- 28:14Speaker 1: now merging. Both worlds were emerging, the connections and the
- 28:17Speaker 1: classes that we've done with our youth and then the
- 28:20Speaker 1: classes of the connections that we've done with the delts,
- 28:21Speaker 1: and we're bringing them together. So the classes, adults will
- 28:24Speaker 1: be able to take. Classes will learn how to open
- 28:25Speaker 1: different accounts for both themselves and their children, how to
- 28:28Speaker 1: put their kids through college. But also now we're giving
- 28:31Speaker 1: them resource on this is how you can also do
- 28:33Speaker 1: this with your kids. Not just for your kids, but
- 28:36Speaker 1: that's how you can do it with your kids. Bring
- 28:37Speaker 1: your familys. So now we'll have classes, what kids can participate,
- 28:40Speaker 1: and all of these things will live in the app.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And I think it's during the time where we're spending
- 28:44Speaker 1: so much. Now let's literally train our minds to look
- 28:47Speaker 1: at opportunities. I know, if everybody is going to be
- 28:50Speaker 1: spending our holiday season, I need to own these companies
- 28:53Speaker 1: that are making billions of dollars on holiday season. And
- 28:55Speaker 1: it's literally rewiring the thought process of our community. UM,
- 28:59Speaker 1: and it's been phenomenal a few months now. UM. It's
- 29:03Speaker 1: in the app storable, Google download and Apple downloads. You
- 29:06Speaker 1: can be acceded to on your iPad or your computer.
- 29:08Speaker 1: But literally, wealth builders dot com UM, wealth builders Community
- 29:12Speaker 1: dot com is where you can see everything that we offer.
- 29:14Speaker 1: There's tons of everything that we give, but it all
- 29:17Speaker 1: actually reality. Twenty seven three fifty five access to classes
- 29:21Speaker 1: all the time, all day, every day, discussion downloads that
- 29:25Speaker 1: we're giving out now like they're just tons of things
- 29:27Speaker 1: where it's like a secret society of wealth builders where
- 29:29Speaker 1: you can't step outside and go to the bank, but
- 29:32Speaker 1: you can go here and get the tools and resources
- 29:34Speaker 1: in a simple and easy to understand language that doesn't
- 29:37Speaker 1: speak to you but through you and into you. Wow,
- 29:41Speaker 1: Ashley and far to Um, you've given me twenty nine
- 29:45Speaker 1: minutes of your time, you all specially UM. Thank you all.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Please give me UM some banners so I can post
- 29:51Speaker 1: it on my social media. You know, I got like
- 29:53Speaker 1: a median social media followers and names, two thousands fan
- 29:56Speaker 1: club members, and I promote you. I love what you do,
- 29:59Speaker 1: I learned and then what you've done for me. It's
- 30:01Speaker 1: it's like a little free session, lessons, sessions she's given
- 30:04Speaker 1: me could now walk away confidence. But that's what you do, Ashley,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and continue to do. And I always know that you
- 30:10Speaker 1: drop something, you can contact me, contact my staff, or
- 30:13Speaker 1: contact me directly because I would do anything for you.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You're that special to me. And to hear your tone,
- 30:18Speaker 1: to hear the leadership in your voice, the confidence in
- 30:21Speaker 1: your voice. I know you found your brand and now
- 30:24Speaker 1: you're just building it out. That's what excites me so
- 30:27Speaker 1: much because of the fact that I've been watching you,
- 30:30Speaker 1: looking at your sessions and you drop dimes and people
- 30:32Speaker 1: liking you what you hear of you, and you get
- 30:35Speaker 1: nice views on your videos when you drop those. You
- 30:38Speaker 1: have a voice and people want to hear what you
- 30:39Speaker 1: have to say. And you're smart. And I do want
- 30:41Speaker 1: to wrap up somebody. I saw it earlier. You know
- 30:43Speaker 1: you mentioned in your credits your Howard University graduate. How
- 30:47Speaker 1: have you? It's been such an I think a profound
- 30:50Speaker 1: moment during this pandemic to see how HBCUs have been
- 30:53Speaker 1: so recognized and donations have comeing to from private sector
- 30:58Speaker 1: to HBCUs. What what what? What? Why? I happened? Why? What?
- 31:03Speaker 1: What did the HPC you do for you, I guess
- 31:05Speaker 1: I want to ask and why it's so important that
- 31:08Speaker 1: people should know the value of an hpc U and
- 31:10Speaker 1: it's educational principles UM For me personally, especially at that time,
- 31:16Speaker 1: I knew I wanted to be I wanted to go
- 31:19Speaker 1: to an hpc U because I wanted to be surrounded
- 31:21Speaker 1: by African Americans UM. But I also wanted to go
- 31:25Speaker 1: to the best HBCU that supported the career trajectory that
- 31:28Speaker 1: I was on. So I knew at Howard I wanted
- 31:31Speaker 1: to be on Wall Street. I found out how much
- 31:33Speaker 1: they paid. During summer internships. Howard taught me how to eat,
- 31:36Speaker 1: how to how to dress, how to do interviews, how
- 31:38Speaker 1: to build a resume, how to golf. It was so
- 31:41Speaker 1: many things that I knew would equipped me for the
- 31:44Speaker 1: industry that I was going in. And I wanted to
- 31:46Speaker 1: be the center of attention. I wanted to be the
- 31:49Speaker 1: center of the love that was felt. And I feel
- 31:51Speaker 1: like an hpc you gave that to me. So I
- 31:54Speaker 1: was surrounded by individuals with the same mindset, with the
- 31:57Speaker 1: same goals, with the same vision for themselves. And I
- 31:59Speaker 1: wanted to be around excellence. And I think I knew
- 32:02Speaker 1: at that point in my life. I wanted to feel supported,
- 32:05Speaker 1: love and nurture, and I had the opportunity to do
- 32:07Speaker 1: that in a black environment and a prestigious environment. I
- 32:10Speaker 1: knew it was a no brainer that I needed to
- 32:11Speaker 1: go to Howard University. Plus I didn't want to go
- 32:13Speaker 1: too too far from home because I'm from Philly. But
- 32:15Speaker 1: I also didn't want to leave Philadelphia. Um, and I
- 32:18Speaker 1: really just wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to be
- 32:21Speaker 1: around the culture and the environment, the love and the support,
- 32:25Speaker 1: but also had that intentionality around grooming a black woman
- 32:29Speaker 1: who wanted to enter into the Wall Street space. And
- 32:32Speaker 1: I loved everything that Howard gave me to prepare me
- 32:34Speaker 1: for my Wall Street career. Awesome. Our wealth Builders community
