- Talking Trash And Tacos: this one me my tracks. So I'm scrolling and I see headlines saying, Lou the lemon, like the $120 leggings wellness lifestyle brand is being investigated for toxic chemicals. Duh. So, ⁓ and I like, wait. I went on that rabbit hole and what I found was it's not as simple as your leggings are poisoning you. but it's also not nothing. So today we're breaking it all down. What's real, what's rumors and what's mattering. What's mattering. So I just literally bought a pair. Should I be concerned or not, Jess? Tell me. So let's start with facts, no drama. So the state of Texas, like the actual attorney general is investigating Lululemon currently. it's over something called PFAS, also known as Forever Chemicals. I need to cut you off for two seconds because do you think that's the reason I just was hearing that Lululemon moved in Parisburg? Maybe they're actually getting ready to close or something. Anyway, but I did hear that. go. They probably are moving somewhere cheaper so they can afford the lawsuit. Anyways, go back. Mm-hmm. I don't know. I don't know, cause I don't own Lululemon. Yes, between the chemicals. ⁓ are chemicals used in things like waterproofing and stain resistance. ⁓ the problem is they don't break down. So they've been linked in some studies to things like hormone disruption, immune issues, and even cancer. Why does everything seem to cause cancer now? Literally. But here's the key part. This is an investigation, not a conviction. So they're asking, did Lululemon mislead customers about what's actually in their clothing? And Lululemon's response is basically, we phased those out in 2023 and they were only a small portion of product. So they're saying it's not in every product. That's crazy. Then again, whatever's what's in our soaps, what's in everything, it kind of makes you think so. Yeah, because it's not just toxic leggings. It's the internet version. The real issue is consumer deception. So they're looking into whether Lululemon marketed their brand as clean, healthy, and wellness focused while possibly using materials customers wouldn't expect. they're digging into things like their testing practices, their supply chains, and their marketing claims. So it's not just what's in the leggings, it's what they've told people about them. Exactly. So this is less about your pants are toxic and more about you sold something that wasn't fully true. And that means a lot to people these days. People are looking for organic ⁓ you know, ⁓ sustainable. ⁓ interesting. Well, look at, do you remember the whole gluten free thing? Didn't that not used to be a thing and all of a sudden all these pizza places, but people were combining ingredients and like didn't realize like it's a serious issue for many people out there. Yeah, I don't think like a gluten intolerance was well known before, like, you know, like diabetes or whatnot. I think that is kind of like a newer type of illness my eyes. I don't know. I could be wrong. I don't know all the things and I'm not a doctor as much as I wish I was. So, So now here's where it gets confusing. The PFAS are real. Yeah. down. Right. I hear you. Yes, they've been linked to health concerns, there are no confirmed proof right now that lululemon clothing is exposing people to dangerous levels. And experts say something really important that PFAS, already exist everywhere. Water, food, packaging, the environment, and most people already have some level of this exposure and you don't even know it, along with everything else. Like I think that's why we're all getting cancer. rights. So we're basically doomed is what you're saying, which I have to go off. I have to go off topic again. I was told that dewormer a cure for cancer and that is why they took it away from human consumption because knew it cured cancer. And ⁓ if got disease or sickness, we would be too big. Do you think it's true? Yeah, not doomed. Mm-hmm. think that's a stretch, but I wouldn't put it past our government. So I don't know. I think you need to ask an oncologist and I have a feeling you might know one. Yeah. Either way. So back to being doomed, but not doomed. But it puts things into perspective. Clothing might not even be the biggest source. So is I had my moment because everyone's freaking out about the leggings, but nobody's talking about what we're washing in. So think about this laundry detergent, fabric softeners, dryer sheets. I said that earlier. These are literally coating your clothes in every single wash for our entire lives and then sitting on our skin all freaking day. So that's actually worse, but I didn't. it's true, that is bad for us. Right. And there's a lot of those that contain fragrances and chemicals that people don't even question. So if we're being honest, you might be more worried about your lululemon, but you're dumping way more chemicals of them every week the lululemon. Ugh, do you use bad stuff? I'm sure I do. I am not one to check labels like that. I use, you know, the Sam's or Costco brand detergents and Gain Softener. I don't know. They've been talking about microplastics forever. I mean, it is what it is. I don't know much about it. I'm not a scientist. So. Yeah. So gonna stop using all soap. ⁓ I know, I mean, I would like to care a little bit more, but it's also the more you care, the more you spend. It's gonna affect your pocketbook. And in this economy, do you have time for that and money for that? I don't know. Yeah, the poor die young. now, ⁓ talk about what's floating around online. And I want to be very clear. This is what people are saying, not confirmed facts. here we go. ⁓ Yeah, so people are claiming things like toxic leggings chemicals absorbing through your skin and your sweating toxins into your body. again, there's no solid proof of this happening at harmful levels. And there are articles that are saying the opposite basically, which yeah, everything, everything has a rebuttal and another side. So ⁓ don't It's overblown! Exposure from the clothing is normal and minimal. So once again, nobody agrees. Exactly. when the story changes, depending on who's telling it, that's when you know it's worth paying attention. So this isn't the first time Lululemon's been in the spotlight. So they've been currently suing Cosco claiming Cosco is selling lookalike versions of their clothes. Same style, way cheaper. I'm in. I'm in. They've also faced scrutiny over how clean or sustainable their brand actually is, also known as greenwashing. I heard about that. Probably lost chemical. see-through leggings scandal. What do you know about that? Back in 2013, they had to recall a huge amount of leggings because they were basically see-through. Like every other legging that's not Lululemon, they're all see-through. Right. Yeah, I don't I'm not leggings right now. Don't wear them Yeah, so they've also had leadership drama, quality complaints and backlash over certain decisions in stores. So this isn't just one issue. It's a pattern of people starting to question the brand. So ⁓ where we land. The investigation is real. The ⁓ are real. The panic may be a little overblown. But the bigger takeaway is this, big brands don't just sell products, they sell stories. And sometimes the story doesn't fully match reality. and maybe check your laundry room while you're at it. Throw away all the soap. for sure. So we pulled information from multiple sources, including CNN and independent Reuters, Texas based reporting and additional coverage and commentary across the spectrum. We'll link everything so you can look into it yourself. Sarah, you're so cute because this is one of those topics where you should hear both sides. I didn't put that there. You said nothing and made me say all the things. We were just talking about this at family dinner. They're like, you talk so much and Sarah never gets to talk. I'm like. ⁓ I hate my arms. I'm gonna hate this video. I worked him out today. I was like, what do want from me? She makes the scripts too. Yeah, I gotta put my jacket back on. You are so silly you look just fine. All right. Well, I think we did quite a bit for tonight Ew. ⁓ so yeah, we, we could do a lot with all that. I think so too. And I think if we try to do this periodically, just like a few times, it is so much easier. I love meeting you in person, but this is like super simple. Yeah, yeah it is. Yeah it is. I love it. So you're always welcome anytime. All right, have a great night. Alright girlfriend, you go enjoy your night for yourself now. ⁓ Go watch Sky King. Sky King. ⁓ Bye. ⁓ gosh, yes he will. You both will. Okay. Love you. Bye. I will. Bye. I know, nine o'clock, one hour bedtime. Sky King. I will get there. I bet you Ron would really like that. Yeah, good night. Tell Brian I said hi. Love you. Bye.
