- 1:36Speaker 1: Good morning. How's everyone doing? How are you? Rashaan? Well?

- 1:40Speaker 1: got my booth is packed in here. You know you're
- 1:43Speaker 1: you're only gonna be talking to me though, But they're
- 1:45Speaker 1: staring at me though. They making sure you don't make
- 1:47Speaker 1: any mistakes. You know. They get pushing buttons and closing
- 1:50Speaker 1: curtains so I won't sweat in the booth, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: because the outdoor light gets too heavy on me. It's
- 1:54Speaker 1: too hot. Give me some what, Give me some what?
- 1:58Speaker 1: So it's great. I finally got you a much show.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I always see you on LinkedIn. I search your profile
- 2:03Speaker 1: to see what you're doing this wide So tell me,
- 2:05Speaker 1: tell everybody what you do, and then we're gonna get
- 2:07Speaker 1: a detail about number of questions that I have outlined
- 2:10Speaker 1: that I'm going to ask you about. Tell us about Yes,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I love this well, Dr cosettem White. I help individuals
- 2:19Speaker 1: gain clarity and focus with their finances. I also help
- 2:23Speaker 1: thousands of taxpayers who owe the I r s but
- 2:27Speaker 1: simply can't afford to pay the I r s. So
- 2:30Speaker 1: I provide benefits such as pain and relief um from
- 2:34Speaker 1: the I r S and just help individuals regain their
- 2:37Speaker 1: normal sleep habits back by helping them reduce that tax liability.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm also an author of Unveiling the Mask as well
- 2:46Speaker 1: as a best selling author of Attracting the Best. So
- 2:50Speaker 1: I play with numbers all day. That's what I do.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Which what is your degree? En? Then my degree is
- 2:55Speaker 1: a mathematics I will admit I don't play with numbers
- 2:57Speaker 1: all day. If you give me a math problem, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: might get in the fight with you because you're trying
- 3:02Speaker 1: to make me look bad. My my undergraduate degree is
- 3:07Speaker 1: in accounting. It's an accounting and then I have my
- 3:09Speaker 1: master's degree in business administration. So let me ask you this.
- 3:13Speaker 1: When you said people who you said? You said you
- 3:16Speaker 1: you do taxes right, and you do taxes with people
- 3:19Speaker 1: who owe money? Did you say that yes the I
- 3:22Speaker 1: R S. Okay, Now what does that mean? Like? So
- 3:24Speaker 1: when I file, you know, my goal is not to owe.
- 3:27Speaker 1: How do you wind up owing the I R S? Oh,
- 3:31Speaker 1: my goodness. There's a number of different ways that people owe. UM,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the I R s they get themselves in trouble. Maybe
- 3:37Speaker 1: there are um an entrepreneur employed and maybe they're not
- 3:42Speaker 1: paying taxes. They're making the income, but they're not paying
- 3:45Speaker 1: the taxes. They're not paying quarterly taxes, they're not paying
- 3:49Speaker 1: anything to the internal revenue throughout the year. And then
- 3:52Speaker 1: all of a sudden they owe this a big large
- 3:54Speaker 1: sum hundred thousand, fifty thousand, you know, whatever that number
- 3:58Speaker 1: may look like. And they're not sleeping well because the
- 4:01Speaker 1: I R s a sending them notices and knocking on
- 4:04Speaker 1: their doors. And we want our money, Like I I
- 4:07Speaker 1: have paychecks as a service I use and because if otherwise,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'd probably be a person who owes the government because
- 4:15Speaker 1: they take all the money out. They take money out
- 4:17Speaker 1: of my account and out of the account they pay
- 4:19Speaker 1: the employee and they pay the government that there's taxes
- 4:22Speaker 1: that are due to the government. That's a good way
- 4:24Speaker 1: to protect yourself, correct, Yes, a very good way. Have that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Have it automatically come out of the check. Now let
- 4:31Speaker 1: me let me now, Dr White, I'm that from that
- 4:36Speaker 1: personal in trouble. I've come to you and our own money.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I don't have any money. What did you do for me?
- 4:44Speaker 1: How do you? How do you save a guy who
- 4:46Speaker 1: started a small business or an individual who got a
- 4:49Speaker 1: live bonus and didn't do the taxes on the bonus
- 4:52Speaker 1: like he was supposed to, kept saying he was gonna
- 4:55Speaker 1: do it, kept saying she was gonna do it, but
- 4:56Speaker 1: they didn't do it. End of the year by all
- 4:58Speaker 1: those taxes they or thousand dollars. How do they recover
- 5:03Speaker 1: from something like that when they come to you, because
- 5:05Speaker 1: they also got to pay for your services exactly, they
- 5:09Speaker 1: have to pay for the services. Well, there's something that
- 5:12Speaker 1: the I R S caused, the debt forgiveness plan, and
- 5:15Speaker 1: there's certain criterias that an individual must fall into in
- 5:18Speaker 1: order to uh fall into one of the plans. The
- 5:22Speaker 1: first one is, of course, the Offer and Compromise program.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Then of course, you know, we can fall into the
- 5:28Speaker 1: partial payment installment plans, but who wants to pay partial
- 5:32Speaker 1: and partial um partial pay installments? And then there's the
- 5:36Speaker 1: penalty of eatement. So when clients come to me, I
- 5:39Speaker 1: usually go through an analysis to figure out if they qualify.
- 5:43Speaker 1: First of offer any of the programs that forgiveness programs
- 5:47Speaker 1: that the I R S is offering, and then from
- 5:49Speaker 1: there we look at their financial situation and then do
- 5:52Speaker 1: an analysis to say, hey, is this something that the
- 5:55Speaker 1: I R S will approve UM. I don't stick a
- 5:58Speaker 1: client into any of the pro programs that the I
- 6:01Speaker 1: R S offers unless I know that I am going
- 6:05Speaker 1: to have a great success rate. My success rate and
- 6:08Speaker 1: settling debt is about so if I don't think that
- 6:13Speaker 1: I can settle, then I'm not gonna get you through.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm not gonna even try to play with you. I'm
- 6:17Speaker 1: gonna be honest up front and say I don't think
- 6:19Speaker 1: we can win with this one. But that's that's what
- 6:23Speaker 1: I do. I try to put them in one of
- 6:25Speaker 1: the three debt forgiveness programs, so you are honest, you're
- 6:29Speaker 1: not there just with all these business to make money,
- 6:32Speaker 1: but you're not gonna lead somebody down the rabbit hole
- 6:35Speaker 1: like you could do something with them, and you see
- 6:37Speaker 1: the odds of them winning. It's just you getting paid
- 6:39Speaker 1: or getting them more debt because they owe you now,
- 6:42Speaker 1: because they owe the government, They're definitely not gonna pay you.
- 6:44Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. No, you know what one
- 6:47Speaker 1: thing with Shawn, I'm all about honesty and integrity in
- 6:50Speaker 1: the business that I'm in. It's really about building relationships,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and the more positive relationships that I build, the more
- 6:59Speaker 1: my business is gonna grow. I'm not gonna lead you
- 7:02Speaker 1: down the road pass and say hey, I can get
- 7:04Speaker 1: you through this, knowing that I can't. I've been before
- 7:07Speaker 1: the iris too many times, so I know what will pass,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and I know will what will not pass. Okay, I'll
- 7:13Speaker 1: tell you what I love about this interview. Your voice
- 7:16Speaker 1: you have that you know, you had that doctor type voice,
- 7:19Speaker 1: that bedside manner. You know you you you. If I
- 7:22Speaker 1: came at you offer, you would make me believe I'm
- 7:24Speaker 1: gonna get my money back. I'm gonna go the government
- 7:26Speaker 1: gonna leave me a lot. I'll just tell you the
- 7:28Speaker 1: truth now, because I've been noticing that going. I don't
- 7:30Speaker 1: know any money I want to I want to sign
- 7:32Speaker 1: you up for something. You know, call my white baby,
- 7:36Speaker 1: well all anybody, because I met the doctor coach that
- 7:38Speaker 1: white ning. I think she I think we can use her. Boy,
- 7:41Speaker 1: we don't owe nobody any money. But you need to
- 7:43Speaker 1: listen to her voice. Her voice will hypnotize you to
- 7:47Speaker 1: believe that you were right and the government was wrong.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I say that because you've been called the financial physician exactly,
- 7:59Speaker 1: that's exactly. I'm not the only one saying that. People
- 8:04Speaker 1: making you laugh, but you've been called the financial physician
- 8:06Speaker 1: because of your technique, your style, your bedside manner. Tell
- 8:11Speaker 1: me when you get a title like that, what responsibility
- 8:14Speaker 1: comes with it? A lot comes with it because when
- 8:18Speaker 1: you just think about the words physician, you know people
- 8:21Speaker 1: are looking at me in a different manner. So UM, again,
- 8:24Speaker 1: as I said, when I was coined the financial physician,
- 8:28Speaker 1: it was just one of those things that individuals came
- 8:30Speaker 1: to me because I've been able to diagnose the situation, diagnose.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's just being able to diagnose the financial situation and
- 8:42Speaker 1: help people get out of the problems that they're in. UM.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And we're not just talking about what taxes, we're talking
- 8:48Speaker 1: about our business owners who may be stuck in a
- 8:52Speaker 1: in a rut as well. Maybe their numbers aren't panning
- 8:56Speaker 1: out the way that they want and maybe their their
- 8:58Speaker 1: their profit margins aren't where they want them to be.
- 9:01Speaker 1: But just being able to really clearly look at the
- 9:03Speaker 1: numbers and say, hey, let's shift things a little bit
- 9:06Speaker 1: and maybe this this will work. So um, just being
- 9:10Speaker 1: able to really really, as I said, diagnosed situations as
- 9:13Speaker 1: it relates to money. Rashan, I'm not gonna play around
- 9:16Speaker 1: with nothing else but the numbers. This is really interesting
- 9:19Speaker 1: because when you came out of college, did you go
- 9:23Speaker 1: work for someone that did you go immediately into a
- 9:26Speaker 1: small business platform. No. When I came out of college,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I worked in corporate America, and actually, truth be told,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I stayed in corporate America for twenty years. Um. I
- 9:36Speaker 1: had the business as well as working in corporate America.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And I kept saying, I need to really get from
- 9:43Speaker 1: underneath his corporate job because I have so much, so
- 9:47Speaker 1: much talent, you know, God has gifted me, and why
- 9:50Speaker 1: am I staying here? But something just kept pulling at
- 9:52Speaker 1: me to stay there with corporate and um, eventually I
- 9:57Speaker 1: just said, hey, I need to take this jump, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: I did. I took the leap, and I stepped out
- 10:02Speaker 1: on face and I began to grow the business. Now,
- 10:05Speaker 1: let me just say this, in those twenty years, I
- 10:09Speaker 1: did leave corporate America, but I wasn't prepared. So I
- 10:12Speaker 1: had to step back in. And as I say, I
- 10:15Speaker 1: say this all the time, we fall down, but we
- 10:17Speaker 1: get up. Um, I had to step back in. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: was a single parent, I was going through some situations
- 10:23Speaker 1: in my life, and I needed to get back in
- 10:26Speaker 1: and and rely on what so many of us do
- 10:30Speaker 1: that pro check to pro check, you know. We become
- 10:33Speaker 1: co dependent upon it, you know. And so that was
- 10:36Speaker 1: me at one point in time. But that's that's why
- 10:39Speaker 1: I like my show, because I want people to be honest. Because,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you know, a lot of time and entertainment, all you
- 10:44Speaker 1: see is the twenty five million dollar contract or the
- 10:47Speaker 1: contracts signed by an athlete or a singer. So all
- 10:51Speaker 1: the movies blockbusters, but the work to get there, the mistakes,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the mistakes, the the that we don't hear about important
- 10:59Speaker 1: on this oh, because because their journey. So that's why
- 11:02Speaker 1: that's why I'm willing to tell people I have failed.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I remember I told my daughter when she was struggling
- 11:06Speaker 1: in college. I told her, I gotta If you look
- 11:08Speaker 1: at my resume, there is an f for my resume.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I go, yeah, but there's also a dean's list on
- 11:15Speaker 1: my resume to now dad graduated with a math degree
- 11:17Speaker 1: now and work for I b M. So don't don't
- 11:19Speaker 1: look at me square when I say that. Now, it's
- 11:21Speaker 1: a lot of upside on my resume, but there is
- 11:23Speaker 1: a mistake, and I didn't allow that mistake to slow
- 11:26Speaker 1: me down. And it's important that people understand that. And
- 11:29Speaker 1: when we come back and we'll talk to the to
- 11:31Speaker 1: the physician, to financial physicians some more, because our best
- 11:34Speaker 1: side manner is incredible. I'm talking to she got a
- 11:36Speaker 1: lifetime achieving the ward from the president, President Barack Obama.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's how good years. So I got one on my wall.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I know our special I keep the dust off mine, Doc,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I keep the dust off mine. When we come back
- 11:46Speaker 1: and get bored of what she has to say in
- 11:48Speaker 1: her future planning tax strategies keeping people out of debt.
- 11:53Speaker 1: You're listening to money making conversation. I'm talking to doctor
- 11:55Speaker 1: Becausette White. Hi, this was Sean McDonald. You're listening to
- 11:59Speaker 1: money making conversations on the phone. She was dubbed by
- 12:03Speaker 1: the Women of Wealth wealth Builders Extraordinaire, and she was
- 12:07Speaker 1: awarded a President's Lifetime Achievement Award by President Barack Obama.
- 12:12Speaker 1: On the phone? Is a doctor, Cosette White? Still there?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Doctor um here? Yes? I am well Doc, I'm tell
- 12:18Speaker 1: you some um. You have a new book out called
- 12:21Speaker 1: Unveiling the Mask. Is your passionate? Uh called the other
- 12:25Speaker 1: victims of domestic violence and substance abuse to stop hiding
- 12:28Speaker 1: behind their mask of shame and fear and to step
- 12:31Speaker 1: out and embrace the life they have always dreamed up.
- 12:34Speaker 1: That's a pretty powerful statement. Why did you write that book? Yes,
- 12:39Speaker 1: most definitely I wrote a book Unveiling the Mask because
- 12:42Speaker 1: Number one, I just felt it was time for my listeners,
- 12:46Speaker 1: my viewers, my community to really know more about me,
- 12:50Speaker 1: because that in White um, A lot of times we
- 12:53Speaker 1: walk around um or I walk around and people don't
- 12:56Speaker 1: did not really know the true story behind me. They
- 13:00Speaker 1: to know bits and pieces about me, and so I
- 13:02Speaker 1: just felt it was time to be a voice for
- 13:05Speaker 1: others that are going through the same or similar situations
- 13:08Speaker 1: that I did some years ago, and just to really
- 13:11Speaker 1: let them know that there is light at the end
- 13:14Speaker 1: of the tunnel with um, you know, resilience, courage, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: and just um knowing that that they too can come
- 13:22Speaker 1: out of a situation just as I did. Maybe not
- 13:25Speaker 1: the same way that I came out of it, but
- 13:27Speaker 1: I just wanted to be that voice, especially when I
- 13:30Speaker 1: started hearing that so many women and men have walked
- 13:33Speaker 1: in the same pair of shoes that I did at
- 13:35Speaker 1: one particular time. Um, And so that was my that
- 13:39Speaker 1: is my true reasoning for unveiling the mask, And as
- 13:44Speaker 1: the book title is, really take that mask off and
- 13:47Speaker 1: let everyone know who you are, what situations you've gone
- 13:50Speaker 1: through in life, and um, hey they can they can
- 13:53Speaker 1: see things a lot clearer, just like you did. You
- 13:57Speaker 1: really was it therapeutic for you? Uh? Yeah, I was
- 14:03Speaker 1: very therapeutic. But let me just say this. I hesitated
- 14:06Speaker 1: on whether or not I really wanted to let the
- 14:09Speaker 1: world know what transpired in my life earlier on because
- 14:13Speaker 1: I didn't know how people were gonna view me. Um.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I started writing the book and then I put it
- 14:17Speaker 1: down for a while, and then I you know, reach
- 14:20Speaker 1: out to individuals and say, hey, if you were going
- 14:23Speaker 1: to do this journey, write your book and let people
- 14:26Speaker 1: know the inside of you, how would you feel? And
- 14:30Speaker 1: I just have to really get over some some personal
- 14:32Speaker 1: things and say, hey, this is your life story, this
- 14:35Speaker 1: is what happened, this is the outcome. Tell the world,
- 14:38Speaker 1: share the shared with the world, and many people will
- 14:41Speaker 1: and um embrace. And so I've as you know, it's
- 14:45Speaker 1: only been out less than a month, and the feedback
- 14:47Speaker 1: that I've gotten thus far Rashawn has been great. Um.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'm just amazed at so many stories that I've gotten
- 14:54Speaker 1: from other individuals that have been in the same situation,
- 14:58Speaker 1: um that I've been in. So it's definitely a testimony. Cool.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Here's the deal. I don't have that book, and that's
- 15:05Speaker 1: I'm mad because I read all my all books that
- 15:08Speaker 1: are delivered to me. So I want to bring you
- 15:10Speaker 1: back next month on my show after I've read this book.
- 15:13Speaker 1: And so we were talk in detail because I don't
- 15:15Speaker 1: like I don't like doing glossy interviews like I've actually
- 15:18Speaker 1: kind of got read it and kind of like through
- 15:19Speaker 1: some through some hyper lines out of your book so
- 15:21Speaker 1: you can respond though that I really want to be
- 15:23Speaker 1: engaged in the book and ustly understand your emotional journey,
- 15:27Speaker 1: because that's important because that is who you are today.
- 15:30Speaker 1: That ability to overcome that makes you overcome a lot
- 15:33Speaker 1: of things in the future. Also, you talked about the
- 15:35Speaker 1: fear of not wanting to lead to corporate corporate life
- 15:38Speaker 1: and then you have to go back. That's also in
- 15:40Speaker 1: that book, I'm sure, and that doesn't very important to
- 15:43Speaker 1: be able to articulate why are you successful today? Let
- 15:46Speaker 1: me ask that question to you right now, point blank,
- 15:49Speaker 1: why are you successful today? I think this really determination
- 15:53Speaker 1: rashaan um not allowing any obstacles to get in my way.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I mean, I could go on and on about the
- 16:00Speaker 1: because it tell us tell us a few if you
- 16:02Speaker 1: don't mind, you know, not to give, but just tell
- 16:04Speaker 1: us a couple. But first of all, my parents passed
- 16:07Speaker 1: away at the early age. Both of them were murdered.
- 16:09Speaker 1: So that was number one. The obstacle I could have
- 16:12Speaker 1: been that statistic of saying, oh, here's a woman you
- 16:15Speaker 1: know out there un weelfare, not doing well. So that
- 16:19Speaker 1: was number one, and that was earlier on number two,
- 16:21Speaker 1: just going through the domestic violence, losing the job, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: um being out there unwelfare. I say it un weelfare
- 16:28Speaker 1: for a period of time, a short period of time, UM,
- 16:32Speaker 1: But I was able to overcome that. So when I
- 16:34Speaker 1: say I had obstacles in my life, I did have stones,
- 16:37Speaker 1: but I didn't allow those to prevent me from moving forward.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And that's important that people hear that. That's why I
- 16:44Speaker 1: want when I wanted to sharing your story, the honest
- 16:48Speaker 1: story on the story that you can you don't. Whatever
- 16:53Speaker 1: life is dealing you at that moment, it doesn't have
- 16:55Speaker 1: to consistently deal you that consistently. You can overcome it
- 16:59Speaker 1: with a plan. When just when life started turning positive
- 17:02Speaker 1: for you, did you who did you have around you?
- 17:04Speaker 1: What were your what was your little You know that
- 17:06Speaker 1: the white the white club that came around and you said,
- 17:09Speaker 1: this is the group that's gonna lift me up and
- 17:11Speaker 1: tell me I'm important. That tells me I can win
- 17:14Speaker 1: because that's what I have now. I didn't have that,
- 17:16Speaker 1: and so so I was out there just going in
- 17:19Speaker 1: a different directions. But you need that group of people
- 17:21Speaker 1: that sit around you, whether it's your wife, your your husband,
- 17:24Speaker 1: your sister, your brother, your your pastor your friends, your
- 17:27Speaker 1: your children. They keep uplifting who uplifted you? Number one
- 17:31Speaker 1: I I turned to God for everything. That's my Number one.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I turned to God Number two, I have two friends
- 17:37Speaker 1: that I call on for advice all the time. And
- 17:40Speaker 1: when I say friends, there in my back pocket. I
- 17:42Speaker 1: could call them whenever I want, um, and I can.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I know that they're going to give me the sound
- 17:47Speaker 1: advice that I need. And um, those are just two
- 17:51Speaker 1: friends that I just for whatever I call them. I
- 17:54Speaker 1: bounced my ideas off of them, my brainstorm off of them,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and I know that they're going to give me the
- 17:59Speaker 1: advice that one UM. As I began to grow, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: as the business began to grow, and as I began
- 18:05Speaker 1: to grow, my circle of friends began to shift and
- 18:09Speaker 1: I started relying on a different group of individuals that
- 18:12Speaker 1: I could go to and rely on and they would
- 18:15Speaker 1: give me their honest feedback on whatever it may be.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And I still rely on those group of individuals tell today.
- 18:22Speaker 1: So I will say each level that I have progressed
- 18:24Speaker 1: and grown, I may have shifted my circles. Know exactly.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Club This is a bad club. You're not Miss White, right,
- 18:38Speaker 1: I've been watching it. So here's a great thing about
- 18:42Speaker 1: I was reading about something he said after financial disaster.
- 18:46Speaker 1: You success is absolutely attainable resiliency, discipline, and faith. You
- 18:53Speaker 1: don't disaster, I can forget. That's a check up, a
- 18:57Speaker 1: word to come back from disaster. How do you come
- 19:01Speaker 1: back from disaster through faith, discipline, and resiliency. Let me
- 19:07Speaker 1: just say when we talk about disaster, it was disaster
- 19:10Speaker 1: for me. It was a younger age. I was a
- 19:12Speaker 1: single mom. Like I said, I had lost the job,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I was on welfare, I was practically penniless, and I
- 19:19Speaker 1: had almost lost my home. So when we say resilience,
- 19:23Speaker 1: just stepping out on faith and knowing that, I just
- 19:28Speaker 1: knew that I was not going to be that individual
- 19:31Speaker 1: that was down on struggle road. As I always say Rashan,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I could not just see myself on struggle road. I
- 19:37Speaker 1: had to bounce back over to success the road. So
- 19:41Speaker 1: when when and even in writing the book, when you
- 19:43Speaker 1: look at where I'm at today, the things that I've accomplished,
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's just been hard work, dedication, stepping out on faith
- 19:53Speaker 1: and and just making things happen. And the thing that
- 19:57Speaker 1: um Struggle wrote, I talked about that in my life
- 20:01Speaker 1: a lot. You know, because of the fact that even
- 20:03Speaker 1: when you're successful, there is struggle road. You know, because
- 20:06Speaker 1: of the fact that I relate to when you said,
- 20:08Speaker 1: you know you don't often want to tell people m
- 20:59Speaker 1: hm hm, you need to check out the wireless earbuds
