- 1:53Speaker 1: leave with it. Don't hesitate, don't let your age, friends,
- 1:56Speaker 1: family and coworkers stop you from planning or living your dreams.
- 2:00Speaker 1: As you know, money making Conversations. My interviews are with

- 2:06Speaker 1: decision makers. Next cast is a dear friend. Her name

- 2:50Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making Conversations again. The executive producer
- 2:53Speaker 1: and hosts of Naty Days Naty Day Bears All series,
- 2:58Speaker 1: Sean Robinson. How you doing, Sean? I love my friend.
- 3:01Speaker 1: How are you? I'm good? You know. So the beauty
- 3:04Speaker 1: of our relationship is that it continues to grow and
- 3:07Speaker 1: you're and and and that's something special because you always, uh,
- 3:12Speaker 1: our relationship goes over twenty years now and so now
- 3:15Speaker 1: I was thinking, I was wondering how long you and
- 3:17Speaker 1: I have known each other. It's been, um, well, I
- 3:21Speaker 1: came to Access Hollywood in so it was since then absolutely,
- 3:26Speaker 1: because that's when I first met you. I remember we
- 3:27Speaker 1: first met and uh, and and was just watching you
- 3:31Speaker 1: and uh, and right now I feel that you know me.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We would all take a job. But now I feel
- 3:37Speaker 1: like you're starting to control your narrative and talk to
- 3:41Speaker 1: us about that. Because there's a journey to all of this.
- 3:43Speaker 1: There's the points where you don't know who you are.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I remember when I stopped manager Steve Harbor, I could
- 3:48Speaker 1: tell you I didn't know who I was. I was
- 3:50Speaker 1: still cared the title of manager of Steve Harvey, former
- 3:53Speaker 1: manager Steve Harvey, and that was a burden of understanding
- 3:56Speaker 1: what I could do or what people expected from me.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And so and you was award winning television host for
- 4:02Speaker 1: a long time, tied to a television series. How are
- 4:04Speaker 1: we able to develop the brand of Sean Robinson? Well,
- 4:09Speaker 1: thank you so much for saying that. And you know
- 4:11Speaker 1: about the journey of being connected to UM, Yeah, something
- 4:17Speaker 1: that is so big, and may be concerned about stepping
- 4:21Speaker 1: out of that UM and wondering who you are away
- 4:25Speaker 1: from what people knew you was doing, and so I
- 4:30Speaker 1: saw so listen. I'm grateful for the sixteen years that
- 4:34Speaker 1: I was at Access Hollywood, and I felt that I
- 4:37Speaker 1: achieved a lot. I came there before social media before Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
- 4:42Speaker 1: all that, you know, and it was a time when uh,
- 4:47Speaker 1: entertainment shows like that, we're really in its heyday because
- 4:51Speaker 1: if let's say, if Beyonce wanted to talk about her album,
- 4:57Speaker 1: she would come to and Access Hollywood and get the
- 5:00Speaker 1: word out. Now, all she has to do is tweet
- 5:02Speaker 1: it and then you know, she's selling a hundred million copies.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So it's different today, and so I'm thankful that I
- 5:10Speaker 1: was at this entertainment show during a time when it
- 5:14Speaker 1: was like, you know, much different than now. I mean,
- 5:16Speaker 1: now you have a lot of different outlets, a lot
- 5:18Speaker 1: of different shows, podcasts, all of that, which is great. Um,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and so the world, the universe has definitely expanded. But
- 5:26Speaker 1: I remember when I was at Access Hollywood for many
- 5:30Speaker 1: many years and I was just kind of getting burnt
- 5:32Speaker 1: out and just was like what is next, but afraid
- 5:34Speaker 1: to separate myself from that entity. And I remember I
- 5:39Speaker 1: went to see a life coach Rashan, and she said
- 5:44Speaker 1: she took out a piece of paper, she had a
- 5:46Speaker 1: pencil on her hand, and she put it a gigantic
- 5:50Speaker 1: circle on the piece of paper and she said, sean world,
- 5:57Speaker 1: Access Hollywood, It's like a little tiny dot in the
- 6:01Speaker 1: whole world. And I remember that because I was like,
- 6:05Speaker 1: there are so many more things that I could be doing.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And when I did leave, there are a lot of
- 6:11Speaker 1: people saying, Okay, what are you gonna do now? How
- 6:13Speaker 1: do you know? I wish I could leave my job,
- 6:15Speaker 1: but I'm afraid I don't know what there is for
- 6:17Speaker 1: me on the other side of this. And I say
- 6:20Speaker 1: to everyone, you are in control of your destiny, and
- 6:25Speaker 1: your destiny doesn't look like what anybody else thinks. It
- 6:29Speaker 1: looks like, it looks like what you think it looks like.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And I was just having a conversation with a girlfriend
- 6:34Speaker 1: of mine. She was interviewing me at a conference. She said,
- 6:37Speaker 1: you know you would reach the brass ring and what
- 6:41Speaker 1: was on the other side of that. I was like, well,
- 6:44Speaker 1: brass ring, I'd be a brass ring and somebody else's
- 6:48Speaker 1: book or it may have been a brass ring at
- 6:51Speaker 1: one time, but the brass ring for me now is
- 6:55Speaker 1: controlling my own destiny and writing my own stories and
- 6:59Speaker 1: having a boy as in the types of shows that
- 7:02Speaker 1: I produced and host so UM. And it's so interesting
- 7:06Speaker 1: because when I started UM the year after I left
- 7:11Speaker 1: Access Hollywood, Uh, left in two thousand and fifteen, my
- 7:14Speaker 1: father just passed away. It was just a really uh
- 7:17Speaker 1: it was a really tough time for me, and a
- 7:20Speaker 1: time when I said, oh, okay, okay, times of Chicken.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You know, life is short. Got to get out here
- 7:26Speaker 1: and just see what I can make happen. And um,
- 7:31Speaker 1: ninety day TLC had reached out to me about hosting
- 7:36Speaker 1: this tell all reunion show for ninety Day Fiance, and
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was like, nine Day Fiance, what's that right? So
- 7:44Speaker 1: they sent me some clips and I was like, okay.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I said, this will probably last like maybe one season
- 7:49Speaker 1: or something, and I'll do the tell all and maybe
- 7:51Speaker 1: do one more. I said, will probably be canceled after that.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And here, okay, now we're you know, many not that
- 8:00Speaker 1: long later. To tell All that I host is consistently
- 8:06Speaker 1: the number one show in cable on the nights that
- 8:11Speaker 1: they air. It's seen in a hundred and sixty eight
- 8:16Speaker 1: countries and territories. Okay, My d m s are international.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And the first show that we did out of the
- 8:27Speaker 1: um during the pandemic when everything was virtual. Everything everybody
- 8:31Speaker 1: was going virtual, and I remember the verse first virtual
- 8:34Speaker 1: tell all that we had to do and I was like,
- 8:36Speaker 1: nobody's gonna watch this. It's all on you know, all
- 8:39Speaker 1: on Zoom. Nobody's want to watch this, and meaning the
- 8:43Speaker 1: interviews that the world we're on Zoom and Rishan that
- 8:48Speaker 1: show that aired in the first the first show we
- 8:52Speaker 1: did in the pandemic, it was the number one show
- 8:56Speaker 1: in the country. We beat ABC, NBC, all of them. Okay,
- 9:03Speaker 1: And here it was me taking like just think, not
- 9:06Speaker 1: knowing this door was going to open right to all
- 9:11Speaker 1: of these other shows and all of these other possibilities,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, okay, wow, now you know, like you know,
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's funny because like somebody will see me and they'll go,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you know what you know, Ash, you look familiar. We're
- 9:25Speaker 1: not know you from an access to Hollywood for sitting
- 9:28Speaker 1: there like, oh no, that ain't it. You know. So
- 9:33Speaker 1: that's how it is. You know, you take a chance,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and you know it's you never know what's on the
- 9:40Speaker 1: other side of you know, that leap of faith. We'll
- 9:43Speaker 1: be right back with my Emmy Award William journalist, host
- 9:45Speaker 1: an executive producer of Discovery plus series Nati Days bear
- 9:49Speaker 1: All Sean Robinson. It's finally here. The season of Celebration
- 9:54Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,

- 10:56Speaker 1: there's a lot more to report, like when they're parched
- 10:59Speaker 1: or windy conditions out there, You've gotta be extra careful
- 11:02Speaker 1: with things like burning yard wadge. After all, wildfires can
- 11:06Speaker 1: start anywhere, even in your neck of the woods. Go
- 11:09Speaker 1: to Smokey Bear dot com to learn more about wildfire prevention.

- 11:27Speaker 1: in my shoes shoes. We've all felt left out, and
- 11:32Speaker 1: for some that feeling lasts more than a moment. We
- 11:36Speaker 1: can change that. Learn how it belonging begins with us
- 11:39Speaker 1: dot org, brought to you by the AD Council. Welcome
- 11:43Speaker 1: out in the machines. This is ra Sean McDonald. Welcome
- 12:14Speaker 1: back to money making Conversations as I continue my conversations
- 12:16Speaker 1: with Emmy Award Winnie Journalists, host and executive producer of
- 12:20Speaker 1: the Discovery Plus series Nati Day's Barrels All Sean Robinson.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Now I'm watching this series. I'm gonna just tell you
- 12:27Speaker 1: why I feel you all this while you're the perfect host.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'll tell you why you're the perfect host, because yes,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and that's important because I don't feel that, you know,
- 12:39Speaker 1: if you had a high energy host or a host
- 12:44Speaker 1: kind of search out for selacious information. You know, you
- 12:48Speaker 1: are hosting it from a dignified standpoint, and that allows
- 12:53Speaker 1: us to stay there because I know sometimes when I'm
- 12:55Speaker 1: watching you, you kind of like caught off guard or
- 12:58Speaker 1: what to say next? Because this doesn't make sense in
- 13:02Speaker 1: your mind, this doesn't make any sense. Well, yeah, you know,
- 13:06Speaker 1: let'st I was raised in the church. Yes, they first
- 13:11Speaker 1: came to me. Um, you know TLC. Howard Lee, the
- 13:17Speaker 1: president of TLC, came to me with this show idea.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was like, I said, can we get away with that?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Are you shore you want me to host stuff? Yes?
- 13:25Speaker 1: They do, Yes they do. So it was a show
- 13:28Speaker 1: for people who don't know Bears all another spinoff Fiance
- 13:33Speaker 1: has like I don't know, it's so popular and it
- 13:34Speaker 1: has like I don't know, ten ten spinoffs now ten
- 13:39Speaker 1: s on something like that. That way, this way is
- 13:43Speaker 1: Days Happily. Ever after the other way we got Pillow Talk,
- 13:48Speaker 1: Single Life. We have I mean there's so many um.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So the show is produced by TLC and it airs
- 13:55Speaker 1: on Discovery Plus. Discovery is the parent company, uh at
- 14:00Speaker 1: you know of TLC, HDTV, the own network, the food network,
- 14:06Speaker 1: I think, uh Animal Planet or something. Um, yeah, so
- 14:10Speaker 1: it Discoveries the parent company. So Discovery launched their new
- 14:15Speaker 1: streaming platform called Discovery Plus. And so TLC produces ninety
- 14:20Speaker 1: day bears all for Discovery Plus. So it's streaming, which
- 14:24Speaker 1: means we don't have the same rules as they have
- 14:28Speaker 1: on linear TV. You can say anything, but show anything.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Anything goes and so yeah, so fan base, now our
- 14:41Speaker 1: girls classy. Now, they don't just go crazy showing you anything,
- 14:45Speaker 1: but they do take you to like you for real. Really,
- 14:49Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna see that occasion. Caution, the moment
- 14:53Speaker 1: with Brandon and Julia, the young lady from Russia. You
- 14:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. They was in the car. Okay,
- 14:59Speaker 1: now out they don't show what went down, but you
- 15:03Speaker 1: pretty much know went went down, and you pretty much
- 15:06Speaker 1: know it went down in front of the cameras because
- 15:09Speaker 1: the cameras in the car right in the car, yes,
- 15:13Speaker 1: or like there are uh, there are strolls through sex shops. Okay,
- 15:20Speaker 1: Like a couple may go into a sex shop and
- 15:23Speaker 1: they showed the stuff in the sex shop. Yes they do, Yes,
- 15:26Speaker 1: they do. You know they're talking about David and Andie.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I think that's David and Andy from Thought Thailand, Thailand.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Oh we're shot, you know, David and Annie and Thailand. Yes, yes,
- 15:40Speaker 1: she's banks it with a little whimp, you know what
- 15:42Speaker 1: I'm saying, A little whimp, you know, because you know,
- 15:45Speaker 1: for you know, they missed a couple of days and
- 15:47Speaker 1: then they make up for them one day. They may
- 15:50Speaker 1: do it three or four times that day. Yes, he's
- 15:53Speaker 1: kind of overweight and she's kind a little bit of
- 15:55Speaker 1: her said, got the eyebrows done. Yes, I do know
- 15:58Speaker 1: about David and Need from Thailand. Continue, continue what you
- 16:06Speaker 1: do with Sean and acting like I don't know my girl?
- 16:09Speaker 1: Right right? I could tell you are up to date.
- 16:11Speaker 1: You tell your research. So yeah, so it's fun. You know,
- 16:16Speaker 1: we're talking to husbands, husbands and wise boyfriend and girlfriends
- 16:21Speaker 1: and they're just talking about all the stuff they do
- 16:23Speaker 1: and you know, listen, Okay, but let's sen ry like
- 16:27Speaker 1: on the real tip here. When you think about it, Rashan,
- 16:30Speaker 1: you know, sex obviously is a very important part of
- 16:33Speaker 1: a successful common relationship. However, they define that to be. Okay,
- 16:38Speaker 1: whatever type of level of intimacy they defined that to be.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And so as you know, uh, this show is called
- 16:45Speaker 1: bears All, So they're bearing all. They're telling us what's
- 16:50Speaker 1: going down, uh in the relationship and so and it's
- 16:53Speaker 1: funny we play games and you know, we have uh
- 16:58Speaker 1: different you know, we have on TestU Chantelle and Pedro,
- 17:03Speaker 1: a very very popular couple of Shantalas from Atlanta, Pedros
- 17:09Speaker 1: from the Dominican Republic, and they they have their own
- 17:13Speaker 1: spin off, the Family Chantelle. And you know, they came
- 17:17Speaker 1: on and they are talking about, you know, how they
- 17:20Speaker 1: keep things hot in the bedroom and yeah, you have
- 17:26Speaker 1: to see translations sometime. But we also have we also
- 17:33Speaker 1: have breaking news on the franchise. We advanced the story.
- 17:36Speaker 1: You may have seen you may have seen a couple
- 17:38Speaker 1: on the tell All and they want to know what
- 17:41Speaker 1: they're doing today, and so we talk about we give
- 17:44Speaker 1: folks updates. We give the audience updates on the lives
- 17:47Speaker 1: of the ninety Day Universe. Uh. There is I don't
- 17:52Speaker 1: know if you remember, uh George George and Anfisa from
- 17:57Speaker 1: I forgot what season they were on, but they were
- 17:59Speaker 1: like when I first hosting the shows. George and Anfisa.
- 18:02Speaker 1: They were this you know, wild couple. They had all
- 18:06Speaker 1: these ups and downs. They fought, they broke up. Uh.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And then George was arrested for marijuana possession and he
- 18:15Speaker 1: spent like, you know, a couple of years in prison.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Well he just got out and he's telling me about
- 18:23Speaker 1: what went down and how he had all there's marijuana
- 18:26Speaker 1: on him and how the police dog tracked him down
- 18:32Speaker 1: right right right right when you know, you know, you know, Sean,
- 18:35Speaker 1: you know nowadays when you when you said somebody goes
- 18:37Speaker 1: to jail from marijuana, you know, you know, you know
- 18:40Speaker 1: you're not just smoking it. You're not smoking it for
- 18:42Speaker 1: massent on reason. You actually are selling. So if a
- 18:46Speaker 1: dog tracked him down, dog tracked him down, and he said,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I said, well, what happened? Or you gotta watch the show.
- 18:52Speaker 1: You gotta watch the Uh. I said, what happened? George?
- 18:56Speaker 1: He said, the dog got me? He said, he said,
- 19:01Speaker 1: they felled the dog to go around the car. The
- 19:04Speaker 1: dog like if the dog sits that lais down, they
- 19:07Speaker 1: know that there's something in the car. And the dog
- 19:10Speaker 1: was going around the car and that dog just laid
- 19:13Speaker 1: down like this see see this is just the just
- 19:19Speaker 1: the fun part. And who was watching the interview now
- 19:22Speaker 1: she is having a lot more fun with me that
- 19:25Speaker 1: she's having on the show, all this extra animation. She
- 19:28Speaker 1: she has the maintain a decorum of professionalism when she's
- 19:32Speaker 1: looking at these people going, I would just tell you.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It was a couple of times where I just laughed
- 19:36Speaker 1: at you. It was the it was the it was
- 19:39Speaker 1: the on this on this season. It was when uh,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, Brandon and Julia, when you actually said, dude,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you know you can't and then this food Brandon goes.
- 19:48Speaker 1: There was more roll more tape. Remember he said roll
- 19:52Speaker 1: more tape. There was more white Yes, he said roll
- 19:57Speaker 1: more tape. And I was like, oh my god, they're
- 20:00Speaker 1: more Brandon and Brandon. This little like a little cute,
- 20:04Speaker 1: a little buttoned up kind of guy. And he was, yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 1: super freak. He was Rick James. He's a white Rick James.
- 20:10Speaker 1: That's what he was. He was a white Rick. He
- 20:12Speaker 1: was a boy, was a super freak board on the
- 20:14Speaker 1: farm and looks like his dad and mommy Betty and
- 20:17Speaker 1: raw Horny too, you know. And don't want to have
- 20:20Speaker 1: him make no noise over there one because they're making
- 20:23Speaker 1: all the noise over there in their room. But it's
- 20:25Speaker 1: a it's a fun show because you know, you get
- 20:28Speaker 1: to see the you know, like like Terek, uh, you know,
- 20:32Speaker 1: poor poor poorl Dean when he talked about his brothers
- 20:34Speaker 1: so bad, talking about he a fifty year old rapper,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you know, I know, and you know what the conversation
- 20:41Speaker 1: between Terek and Dean. At first they were so close,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but then there was some brotherly rivalry going on there
- 20:50Speaker 1: and then they you know, separated, they didn't talk to
- 20:53Speaker 1: each other. So you know, having you know, having both
- 20:56Speaker 1: of them, one in the studio the other fun video,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and they were going at it, going at it, and
- 21:01Speaker 1: you were like, you were hoping that these brothers could
- 21:04Speaker 1: mend fences. But that was a really supertense moment on
- 21:08Speaker 1: bears off and then and that's what you're talking about.
- 21:10Speaker 1: And if you're talking they crossed shows in there because
- 21:13Speaker 1: they fell out on Pillow Talk, right right exactly. Pillow Talk. Yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So Pillow Talk is another spinoff of ninety Day where
- 21:25Speaker 1: people from the ninety day universe. It could be like
- 21:28Speaker 1: Trek and Dean brothers, or it could be a husband,
- 21:30Speaker 1: wife or boyfriend girlfriend. They sit in the bed and
- 21:33Speaker 1: they watch the show and they give their opinion about
- 21:38Speaker 1: the show. Like every time something happens, like if David
- 21:41Speaker 1: and Annie where to go in the sex shop, one
- 21:43Speaker 1: of them might shout out, oh my god, I can't
- 21:45Speaker 1: believe they're in the sex shop or whatever. You know,
- 21:47Speaker 1: they will say, well, the you know, if you if
- 21:52Speaker 1: you saw the conversation, you know, Terek's version was that
- 21:57Speaker 1: Dean was pellous of him. Okay, he was jealous of
- 22:03Speaker 1: the attention that he was getting. Dean's version is that
- 22:07Speaker 1: to Reek would steal some of his lines that he
- 22:12Speaker 1: during Pillow Talk. And so something happened after that last
- 22:16Speaker 1: taping of Pillow Talk and they just completely fell out.
- 22:22Speaker 1: So it was it was bad, and so we brought
- 22:26Speaker 1: the brothers together on Bears all and they were hashing
- 22:30Speaker 1: it out, you know, hopefully they can come back together.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And then another brother joined in the conversation and that
- 22:35Speaker 1: was more drama because that was kind of like they
- 22:38Speaker 1: crossed episodes. Yes, well yes, because they were on um
- 22:45Speaker 1: I think it was. They were on ninety Day, to
- 22:48Speaker 1: Read and Hazel were on ninety Day, then on Pillow
- 22:52Speaker 1: Talk and then they were on Bears also. Yeah, so
- 22:57Speaker 1: is We bring together everybody and you will see different
- 23:00Speaker 1: matchups on bears All. You will see people from different
- 23:04Speaker 1: shows come on bears All for the first time. So
- 23:07Speaker 1: that's what's fun about it, bringing people together that you
- 23:10Speaker 1: don't expect to see together. We have some things out.
- 23:14Speaker 1: You need to see my conversation with Brittany. Boss Brittany,
- 23:19Speaker 1: uh another one. You talk about Instagram. You talk about
- 23:24Speaker 1: Instagram bootylicious Brittany, Yes, yes, Sean Robinson, about bears All
- 23:32Speaker 1: than anybody or a side you just want to tell
- 23:35Speaker 1: yourself about. I'm gonna tell you something about Brittany When
- 23:38Speaker 1: she when you asked about the cheat a profound statement
- 23:40Speaker 1: about Black Girl magic. You know what I'm saying. She
- 23:43Speaker 1: was like, you know, because I am a woman, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: a woman should be able to show herself as all people.
- 23:49Speaker 1: She has the right and the will, and I would
- 23:51Speaker 1: not be She said a speech and a Brittany all
- 23:54Speaker 1: this bs, but you're really good. They have come up
- 23:57Speaker 1: for all that on the spot. That was really profound.
- 23:59Speaker 1: When she said, could you looked at it? Win? You
- 24:02Speaker 1: really believe all that? But you're good? You're good, right right? Right?
- 24:07Speaker 1: So Boss Brittany, she gets to say her piece. You know,
- 24:12Speaker 1: she was supposed to be on one of our last
- 24:14Speaker 1: tell alls and she didn't show up. Conversation about why
- 24:18Speaker 1: she didn't show up to the tell all. Okay, okay,
- 24:21Speaker 1: here's the funny part about the show, the fund to
- 24:24Speaker 1: show that makes me funny when you bring in the
- 24:25Speaker 1: translators because you have the angry pe and you see
- 24:29Speaker 1: the words, you know, just translated undeath them, you know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and then the translator has to translate it, and then
- 24:34Speaker 1: they have to and then they don't translate it all correctly.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Then you got the angry, non communicating person trying to
- 24:41Speaker 1: talk back after translator who in turn translated back. That's
- 24:44Speaker 1: the funny that, right, there's another show. That's another show. Yes, yes,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you're absolutely right. That could be ninety day translation. But
- 24:53Speaker 1: you're right, you're right, Rashan, because Adam, our translator for
- 24:57Speaker 1: ya Zon, Brittney's um boyfriend, I mean, Yazon and Brittany
- 25:03Speaker 1: were going at it. I mean they were calling everybody,
- 25:07Speaker 1: calling each other everything but a child of God, and
- 25:09Speaker 1: that Adam had to sit in the middle and translate
- 25:13Speaker 1: and they had to apologize to Poet of Sean. They've
- 25:15Speaker 1: told me, I've extended my time. I apologize. She producing
- 25:19Speaker 1: team you know I love you as owner Discovery Plus,
- 25:23Speaker 1: She's an executive producer and host of Nanty Day's Barrel.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Don't miss It is fun, is good fun television. If
- 25:30Speaker 1: I watch you, just to watch her blush. Just watch
- 25:32Speaker 1: Sean Robinson blush. Thank you, girl, I appreciate you. We

- 28:37Speaker 1: is best known for his charismatic and you've seen it too.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I love this dude. For many years when I had
- 28:41Speaker 1: my comedy globe, I used to love listening to motor Radio.
- 28:44Speaker 1: He's the love laughing at me, but I love listening
- 28:45Speaker 1: to him on Sunday mornings. He's authentic. He loves customers
- 28:49Speaker 1: who really understand the value of what he's trying to

- 29:05Speaker 1: which I got along with the waffle and pancake mix
- 29:08Speaker 1: which I don't have no more have to re order
- 29:09Speaker 1: because I used it all. I ate it. Okay, it's
- 29:13Speaker 1: that easy to make sold for a savory season. He mixed.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I got some mixing. If you got the video you're
- 29:17Speaker 1: watching us on TV Video one. I got it all
- 29:20Speaker 1: on my desk because I love promoting something that is successful.
- 29:24Speaker 1: He is not celebrating. Get to check this out in
- 29:26Speaker 1: September one. It all starts twenty years restaurant service to
- 29:31Speaker 1: the community with a cave Please welcome to money making conversation.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I like to call him the chief steward of the
- 29:38Speaker 1: Breakfast Club. My friend Marcus Davis, Hey, Marcus, Hey, Marco,
- 29:45Speaker 1: what's that too long? Man? You know, because you know
- 29:47Speaker 1: we're battling off a man, don't say that long intro
- 29:49Speaker 1: because I'm think of christ Mattick when I introduced people. Man,
- 29:52Speaker 1: how was that? Man? You laid it out, brother, and
- 29:56Speaker 1: I appreciate it you laid it that way. I appreciate that.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I appreciate it much. Well, you don't think that the
- 30:00Speaker 1: thing about I gotta go way back, you know, to one.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I know, I was in l A at the time,
- 30:07Speaker 1: Steve Harving, I was doing radio in l A. So
- 30:10Speaker 1: we were starting our dream. And when you start a dream,
- 30:13Speaker 1: it always is just something just doing. There's no set
- 30:16Speaker 1: where you're gonna be five years from now, ten years
- 30:18Speaker 1: from now, or even twenty years from now. What you
- 30:21Speaker 1: are right now? What was the plan when you just
- 30:24Speaker 1: owned those stories twenty years ago of the breakfast, And
- 30:28Speaker 1: what was the plan? Um? You know? In in nine nine,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I set out and UH wrote the vision and made
- 30:38Speaker 1: it plain. I envisioned us being a staple for the
- 30:44Speaker 1: city of Houston. I envisioned us being UM synonymous with
- 30:48Speaker 1: the city. I envisioned us being known from UH coast
- 30:52Speaker 1: to coast, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. I envisioned
- 30:57Speaker 1: us being an intricate part of the community. And I
- 31:00Speaker 1: envisioned us being a source of inspiration for our community.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Knowing where we stood in this industry and what the
- 31:09Speaker 1: opportunities uh were, I envisioned to feel that that that void.
- 31:16Speaker 1: So I wanted to create this concept uh step out
- 31:19Speaker 1: on faith um and give Houston and and the AFFL
- 31:24Speaker 1: community what it deserves, what the what it deserves, what
- 31:27Speaker 1: you brought to the table. But when all, when you
- 31:31Speaker 1: have a product and you have to charge people for
- 31:33Speaker 1: that product, that always leads to mixed emotions because especially
- 31:37Speaker 1: in our community and on the beauty of the breakfast
- 31:40Speaker 1: club is that if you get in line, it is
- 31:42Speaker 1: one of the diverse lines in the world. Is everybody
- 31:45Speaker 1: that line his Spanish white? Sometimes more whites and live
- 31:47Speaker 1: than blacks. Okay, so he's serving that international customer that
- 31:52Speaker 1: he wants and so, but it didn't start out like that.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And so making that price point, how did that come
- 31:58Speaker 1: into play to You can make sure you're comfortable with
- 32:01Speaker 1: it because you gotta make money, but you also have
- 32:03Speaker 1: to make sure the cort doesn't feel offended. So let
- 32:07Speaker 1: me let me address the first half of that. Right
- 32:09Speaker 1: you talked about the diversity. I mentioned just a second
- 32:13Speaker 1: ago that I wanted to be UH synonymous with the city.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I wanted to be an ambassador reflection of my city,
- 32:19Speaker 1: and the city of Houston is was and is a
- 32:23Speaker 1: microcosm of the United States. It is a very diverse,
- 32:28Speaker 1: diverse city, and I wanted the concept to be just
- 32:33Speaker 1: as diverse. I'm gonna tell you something. I remember driving
- 32:35Speaker 1: bankers and potential investors crazy when you know this as
- 32:40Speaker 1: a businessman, you know this. I will go into the
- 32:42Speaker 1: banking or business plan and UH they would ask who
- 32:46Speaker 1: is your target audience, who's your target demographic? And I
- 32:51Speaker 1: told them anyone and everyone that wants to participate, we
- 32:55Speaker 1: are inviting to participate. And they would try and drill
- 32:58Speaker 1: me down or no, you gotta demonified target demographic. And
- 33:02Speaker 1: I insisted that I didn't. That I wanted to do
- 33:05Speaker 1: something different. I wanted the city of Houston to be
- 33:09Speaker 1: reflected in the breakfast club. And here's the example that
- 33:12Speaker 1: I told the bankers that never gave me any money.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I wanted a place where. I wanted a place where
- 33:20Speaker 1: UH college students from Malma Mata, Texas Southern and you
- 33:24Speaker 1: have Aged and Rice and you have AGED Downtown and St. Thomas,
- 33:28Speaker 1: all surrounding UH universities surrounding the breakfast club. I wanted
- 33:33Speaker 1: them to sit in the same space where Fortune five
- 33:37Speaker 1: hundred vps and c e O s sat for breakfast.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Because we were on the outskirts of downtown. I wanted
- 33:45Speaker 1: the folks in the medical center to come and have
- 33:49Speaker 1: lunch with the people who work on the light poles.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I wanted any and everybody that wanted to participate in
- 33:53Speaker 1: this concept called uh fellowship. I wanted them in and
- 33:58Speaker 1: so uh that that's where the idea of the version.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Let me tell you some funny. I knew we had
- 34:02Speaker 1: arrived at what I had envisioned. The bankers told me,
- 34:05Speaker 1: hell now, the investors told me hell no. Maybe that's
- 34:07Speaker 1: why none of them gave me any money. Right, I
- 34:10Speaker 1: never will forget one day seeing um one of my
- 34:15Speaker 1: marketing folks, she could say, come here, you gotta see this.
- 34:17Speaker 1: This is this is what you envisioned. And I walked
- 34:19Speaker 1: outside and in the parking lot was a convertible Lexus
- 34:22Speaker 1: coop and the brother got out and he was clean. Right,
- 34:26Speaker 1: that's like what Sean. I was like, is that ver
- 34:27Speaker 1: Sean mcdonnet stop. He was clean, And right next to him,
- 34:32Speaker 1: this brother pulled up in a back home, and he
- 34:35Speaker 1: in his overalls and his boots and he got out
- 34:38Speaker 1: and he stood the writing line with that brother that
- 34:40Speaker 1: was in that our money. So now it's like that's
- 34:42Speaker 1: the breakfast Club. But you know, it's really tragic how
- 34:47Speaker 1: people will everybody each food, you know what I'm saying, Marcus,
- 34:50Speaker 1: But still they act like, you know, okaun, your food
- 34:53Speaker 1: has to have a certain market. You know. I don't
- 34:55Speaker 1: know anybody who just don't eat breakfast, you know, I
- 34:57Speaker 1: think everybody eats breakfast, you know, but when you up
- 35:00Speaker 1: African American mayor walking in there, you must be just
- 35:03Speaker 1: targeting black people, Okay, and then do what you say that,
- 35:07Speaker 1: then they're gonna trap you even more because they're gonna
- 35:09Speaker 1: tell you how much you they think you can make.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Once you say you just targeted, I marketed, they don't value.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So that's always smart to hear that on this show,
- 35:17Speaker 1: and coming from a person who said, no, I my
- 35:21Speaker 1: brand and my customer base will be everybody. If you
- 35:24Speaker 1: hold on to that dream and don't let anybody just
- 35:26Speaker 1: do your dream. That's why I say up top, don't
- 35:28Speaker 1: let nobody alter your dreams and your plans. You know,
- 35:33Speaker 1: So going I started this thing off, talking about bitch
- 35:36Speaker 1: and a couple of concepts. I want to make sure
- 35:37Speaker 1: that we worked through today. Brother. You know you know
- 35:39Speaker 1: I'm a son and grandson and great grandson of Baptist preachers.
- 35:43Speaker 1: So I have I have my points, right, I got
- 35:45Speaker 1: my not absolutely, I love it. You know when you
- 35:47Speaker 1: called me, said Richard that we're talking Mark David based
- 35:50Speaker 1: and used to Texas. So you get part great breakfast
- 35:53Speaker 1: and part motivation depending on what day you get him.
- 35:55Speaker 1: When he called me, rich you said the twenty years
- 35:59Speaker 1: is coming up. I come back, I said, Marcus, you
- 36:01Speaker 1: don't have to push this conversation when you want to
- 36:03Speaker 1: come on. So get the preacher, brother. And and here's
- 36:06Speaker 1: why I thought that was important. And when I when
- 36:08Speaker 1: I started this business, when I started working on the plan,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I ran into all the statistics, right, all the statistics
- 36:14Speaker 1: that see it. Restaurants has the highest failure rate arong
- 36:17Speaker 1: along with clubs and bars. Right. Uh, it's a miracle
- 36:20Speaker 1: to make it past the first twelve months. It's a
- 36:22Speaker 1: miracle to make it past twenty four months. If you
- 36:24Speaker 1: hit five years, you're doing something miraculous. And here we
- 36:27Speaker 1: are four times that sitting on our twenty year anniversary,
- 36:31Speaker 1: twenty years of inspiring entrepreneurship in the city of Houston.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And that's a testament to a number of concepts, and
- 36:38Speaker 1: that starts with the first thing that you said, opening
- 36:40Speaker 1: was vision right and believing whole hardening who you are
- 36:43Speaker 1: and what you've been called and created to be, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: not letting anybody deter you because absolutely positively folks will
- 36:51Speaker 1: try to deter you. Now it's not out of anything.
- 36:54Speaker 1: And I'm not big on this hater thing and people
- 36:57Speaker 1: hating on you and stuff like that. What I am
- 36:59Speaker 1: big on is understanding why they don't agree with you,
- 37:03Speaker 1: on why they don't see what you see. Your vision
- 37:06Speaker 1: that was gave to you, that was given to you,
- 37:09Speaker 1: was only given to you. The Creator made it, Taylor
- 37:13Speaker 1: made specifically for you, and it is not and it
- 37:18Speaker 1: has not been exposed to the rest of the earth
- 37:22Speaker 1: because you're the one responsible for developing it. You're the
- 37:25Speaker 1: one responsible for going into the dark room, taking that
- 37:29Speaker 1: negative and turning into a positive. I know, I speaking
- 37:31Speaker 1: foreign language because we don't develop a lot of feeling anymore.
- 37:34Speaker 1: But you get the concept right, that picture that the
- 37:38Speaker 1: creator gave to you. You are the person responsible for
- 37:41Speaker 1: going into the dark room and developing it. So the
- 37:43Speaker 1: people that that that don't say a man in your corner,
- 37:47Speaker 1: the people that do not agree with you, the people
- 37:49Speaker 1: that are not backing you up, it's not because they
- 37:51Speaker 1: have any ill will. It's because they haven't gotten the
- 37:54Speaker 1: picture that you're responsible for painting. And that's the most
- 37:57Speaker 1: important thing is that you have to be willing to
- 37:59Speaker 1: under stand that it all gonna fall back on you.
- 38:02Speaker 1: So a lot of people, when they have their dream,
- 38:04Speaker 1: they want people to feel sorry for them when they're
- 38:07Speaker 1: doing bad, and they want to be excited for them
- 38:08Speaker 1: when they're feeling good. I keep a medium roll in
- 38:11Speaker 1: my whole approach to life, and plus I don't try
- 38:14Speaker 1: to share too much excitement, and I never share failure
- 38:18Speaker 1: because sharing failure with somebody when they feel you're supposed
- 38:20Speaker 1: to be successful will only create doubt in your circle.
- 38:23Speaker 1: And so that is what happened a lot during the pandemic,
- 38:27Speaker 1: because we had a year in twenty where there was
- 38:29Speaker 1: nothing but doubt, there's nothing but uncertainty. They shut down
- 38:32Speaker 1: your business, like all businesses around this country for two months.
- 38:35Speaker 1: How did you come out of that with the same
- 38:39Speaker 1: enthusiasm that that that natural enthusiast I see all the time,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and you for your business to breakfast club. That was
- 38:44Speaker 1: your primary business, of course, but how did you survive?
- 38:49Speaker 1: So you know, it was only one of the things
- 38:51Speaker 1: that I'm grateful for. There's a there's the thing going
- 38:53Speaker 1: around on social media and and and it's interest and said,
- 38:55Speaker 1: I asked for courage, so I was giving things that
- 38:58Speaker 1: would frighten me in order to developed the courage. I
- 39:01Speaker 1: asked for uh strength, So I was giving heavy weight
- 39:04Speaker 1: to carry in order to make me stronger. I don't
- 39:06Speaker 1: know where it came from, but I thought it was
- 39:07Speaker 1: it was. It was pretty elegant. The reality of it
- 39:11Speaker 1: is the Breakfast Club not only we celebrating twenty years
- 39:14Speaker 1: in business, two decades of inspiring entrepreneurship on the corner
- 39:17Speaker 1: of Travis and Alabama, but we are also proving what
- 39:21Speaker 1: it means to be battle tested. Right. The pandemic was significant, Right,
- 39:25Speaker 1: It was a very significant, spectacular event and and detrimental
- 39:30Speaker 1: to a lot of businesses. One of the things that
- 39:32Speaker 1: I am grateful for is that it was not our
- 39:34Speaker 1: first rodeo was at our first pandemic, of course, but
- 39:37Speaker 1: we opened this business underpression. We opened this business when
- 39:42Speaker 1: the streets wanted construction. We opened this business on the
- 39:45Speaker 1: heels of Hurricane Allison, which hit our build them before
- 39:48Speaker 1: we got to serve sale one grid. We opened this
- 39:51Speaker 1: business when Hurricane I was here and Hurricane Harvey came through.
- 39:57Speaker 1: We opened this business and in ruin crashed. We all
- 40:00Speaker 1: in two weeks before UH nine eleven hit, which was
- 40:03Speaker 1: a big deal because because downtowns in a lot of
- 40:05Speaker 1: cities took a decline, because folks were scared to go
- 40:08Speaker 1: into work if you worked in the major metropolitan city.
- 40:10Speaker 1: So we on the on the hills of in run
- 40:14Speaker 1: crashing UH nine eleven happening, Uh Alison. Then I. Then
- 40:21Speaker 1: you had that little thing in two thousand and seven
- 40:23Speaker 1: where gas was sky high. Yeah, the other thing where
- 40:26Speaker 1: food jumped up two thousand seven, two thousand and eight,
- 40:29Speaker 1: bringing in the recession where folks are getting laid off
- 40:32Speaker 1: left and right. Uh. You move on down to Hurricane
- 40:35Speaker 1: Ike where we were closed for five whole days, and
- 40:38Speaker 1: then Hurricane Harvy. We are battle tested at thirty or
- 40:42Speaker 1: seven eleven, Travis, and that's what prepared us for what
- 40:45Speaker 1: came forward in one We've been through the Royal Range.
- 40:49Speaker 1: We've been through the storm and my team, uh we
- 40:52Speaker 1: we've developed a certain amount of diligence where we can
- 40:55Speaker 1: perform under the pressure. Our metal has been tested. I'm
- 40:59Speaker 1: so grateful uh that we that that we had the
- 41:01Speaker 1: ability to to perform. And I'm extremely grateful catch this
- 41:06Speaker 1: that the community uh soft fit to sustain us during
- 41:12Speaker 1: that time. And that's what good will would do for
- 41:15Speaker 1: you Absolutely do good in writing just by the people,
- 41:18Speaker 1: then prayerfully most times off times they will respond, they
- 41:22Speaker 1: will And I'm fortunate that the people responded uh to
- 41:25Speaker 1: what we needed them to respond to. But lets just
- 41:29Speaker 1: change something about Marcus Davis and his his personality, his
- 41:33Speaker 1: willingness to answer the call for promotional opportunities. You know,
- 41:38Speaker 1: when I just Steve Harvey Shaw owned National Syndication, called Marcus,
- 41:42Speaker 1: he didn't like, go let me think about it, what time?
- 41:45Speaker 1: When do you want to be there? Because he under
- 41:47Speaker 1: you understood the value of the moment and a lot
- 41:50Speaker 1: of people understand the value of the moment. But more
- 41:52Speaker 1: importantly about Marcus, he knows how to take up possitively
- 41:56Speaker 1: advantage of that moment. And that really I'm not saying
- 41:59Speaker 1: that's one of the the rememberable moments in your business.
- 42:03Speaker 1: But you have a lot of them in there, like
- 42:04Speaker 1: with Oprah to Steve Harvest talk about how you and
- 42:08Speaker 1: let me just tell y'all strategically, I may have asked
- 42:12Speaker 1: him to come on to Steve Harvey Talk show, but
- 42:14Speaker 1: he had a strategy as to why he was coming.
- 42:17Speaker 1: My correct, Marcus, But I mean, you're you're absolutely correct.
- 42:20Speaker 1: And I know this is and I know this sounds
- 42:23Speaker 1: a little far um, but there was a time where
- 42:27Speaker 1: you didn't have the world at the touch of a button.
- 42:30Speaker 1: That was a time when you didn't have the East
- 42:34Speaker 1: Coast and the West coast available to you via Twitter,
- 42:37Speaker 1: vi Instagram, their Facebook. That was the time where you
- 42:40Speaker 1: had to bust your butt in order to get that
- 42:43Speaker 1: type of recognition. And you had to also be lucky,
- 42:47Speaker 1: uh as a result of the good work that you've done. Right,
- 42:51Speaker 1: So the hard work that we put in uh, combined
- 42:54Speaker 1: with relationships that we had built UH allowed us to
- 42:59Speaker 1: have opportunity is where someone like yourself did pick up
- 43:02Speaker 1: the telephone and say here we go. Yeah, man, it
- 43:05Speaker 1: was it was it was all right real quick. So
- 43:09Speaker 1: at the time they had this morning show on on radio,
- 43:12Speaker 1: was the time John the Morning right that that that
- 43:17Speaker 1: was I don't were you in radio then, because it's
- 43:21Speaker 1: a one or two point one? Yeah yeah, so uh
- 43:25Speaker 1: the time Join the Morning Show. And I sat there
- 43:27Speaker 1: and thought, man, how in the heck am I gonna
- 43:29Speaker 1: get on Tom join the Morning Show. I ain't got
- 43:31Speaker 1: to them joining the money, right. I know I can't
- 43:34Speaker 1: run national advertise, right, I don't have Twitter and I
- 43:37Speaker 1: don't have i G so I can't push these buttons.
- 43:40Speaker 1: So I came up with this idea, and um, the
- 43:44Speaker 1: idea was to go buy a hundred and to Neon
- 43:46Speaker 1: Bright Neon shirts and to pass them out to a
- 43:50Speaker 1: hundred two people standing in line and tell them to
- 43:52Speaker 1: wear that shirt and if I see you wearing that shirt,
- 43:54Speaker 1: that I'm buying you grits after the end of the show.
- 43:57Speaker 1: And man went all one hundred and two of those
- 43:59Speaker 1: folks lined up and running the breakfast club after that show.
- 44:03Speaker 1: And then your boy Jay Anthony came through, and then
- 44:05Speaker 1: they started mentioning this on on on the show, and
- 44:08Speaker 1: Tom start mentions on the show, and then I was
- 44:11Speaker 1: like hot, damn Rashan and called we will be right
- 44:18Speaker 1: back with restaurant tour motivational speaker, founder and CEO of
- 44:22Speaker 1: The Breakfast Club in Houston, Texas, Marcus Davis. Adoption of

- 45:05Speaker 1: door strong with a double arm kid carry. Looks like
- 45:08Speaker 1: dad has the bags. Daughter is bringing up the rear.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Oh but the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys
- 45:15Speaker 1: are everywhere. Oh but mom has just nailed the perfect
- 45:20Speaker 1: car seat buckle for the toddler. And now the eldest
- 45:23Speaker 1: daughter who looks to be about nine or ten has
- 45:25Speaker 1: secured herself in the booster seat. Dad SIPs the bag
- 45:28Speaker 1: clothes and they're off. Ah, but looks like Mom doesn't
- 45:32Speaker 1: realize her coffee cup is still on the roof of
- 45:34Speaker 1: the car and there it goes. Ah. That's a shame
- 45:39Speaker 1: that mug was a fan favorite. Don't sweat the small stuff,

- 46:44Speaker 1: As I continue my conversation with restaurant tour motivational speaker,
- 46:49Speaker 1: founder and CEO of the Houston based Breakfast Club restaurant
- 46:53Speaker 1: Marcus Davis. See strategy, always have a strategy, but you
- 46:58Speaker 1: gotta have the product and you gotta have the service. Okay.
- 47:01Speaker 1: So so when you come there, now, if that be
- 47:05Speaker 1: a lie, guess what, that's what happened. Properly, you're popular,
- 47:07Speaker 1: but they friendly as soon as they see you, soon
- 47:09Speaker 1: as you're coming that door, air conditioning, work the menu,
- 47:14Speaker 1: and they don't go and go, hey, we don't have
- 47:16Speaker 1: that on the menu today, not not not at the
- 47:18Speaker 1: breakfast Club. If it's on the menu, they got it
- 47:22Speaker 1: and it serves over because because black restaurants get a
- 47:24Speaker 1: lot of because we have to say that too, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 1: black restaurants can't get a bad restaurant, and our black
- 47:30Speaker 1: people will carry bad news faster than good news. And
- 47:35Speaker 1: so now let me let me, let me, let me
- 47:36Speaker 1: put a pin in that because I have I have
- 47:39Speaker 1: to say this right and I'm not stating what you're
- 47:41Speaker 1: saying is is untrue. It's absolutely true, but it's also
- 47:44Speaker 1: true of none black restaurants. I went to a restaurant.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I went to a restaurant the other day that was
- 47:48Speaker 1: none black owner was right on, and it's made the chain.
- 47:51Speaker 1: And out of the eight things on the menu they
- 47:53Speaker 1: didn't have they only had three on them. Right. But
- 47:56Speaker 1: we're conditioned to believe a certain thing about our businesses.
- 48:01Speaker 1: That's the condition to believe about the other uh business all.
- 48:05Speaker 1: All I'm saying is we gotta keep that same energy.
- 48:08Speaker 1: So when Pope Eyes tell you they ain't got uh
- 48:10Speaker 1: no more chicken, then you know we gotta keep You know,
- 48:14Speaker 1: it's terminal terminal where you went on? Hold? Can I
- 48:18Speaker 1: can I go back to somebody say, because I don't
- 48:19Speaker 1: want to miss it. You mentioned you mentioned about the product,
- 48:23Speaker 1: right you You mentioned about having the product getting in
- 48:26Speaker 1: that space where people make the calls and you get
- 48:29Speaker 1: some national recognitions one thing. But having the product to
- 48:32Speaker 1: get you there is a whole another thing. And the
- 48:35Speaker 1: three things that that that I share with my team
- 48:38Speaker 1: from day one, these are my my key principles for success.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Quality product, quality service, all the time. Quality product quality service,
- 48:47Speaker 1: and do it every freaking time you unlock that due
- 48:51Speaker 1: that's not the same. Mistakes are not gonna happen. But
- 48:53Speaker 1: your goal, your mission, should be to make sure that
- 48:57Speaker 1: every time you unlock the door, you deliver the quality
- 49:00Speaker 1: product through the hands of great people. And you're doing
- 49:03Speaker 1: it each and every single time. Now, why is that important?
- 49:08Speaker 1: Because if folks come to the breakfast club today and
- 49:12Speaker 1: they go out and tell their moming them and they're
- 49:14Speaker 1: cousin them and niecing them, when leasing them, come nesing them,
- 49:17Speaker 1: are gonna be expecting the same grits that they got
- 49:19Speaker 1: that the that there you know, that aren't told them around,
- 49:22Speaker 1: or that they got last time. And so you have
- 49:24Speaker 1: to be able to deliver those things. When I say
- 49:26Speaker 1: quality product, brother, that there is an attempt, there's a
- 49:30Speaker 1: temptation right to want to change and move things around
- 49:33Speaker 1: just because somebody come to you and tell you, hey, man,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I can get you some cheaper, cheaper wings, and that
- 49:38Speaker 1: are they the same size, are they the same quality
- 49:41Speaker 1: of meat? Right? And will they be consistent? Those three
- 49:44Speaker 1: things are important to me before I before I jumped
- 49:47Speaker 1: to price, because price is one side of it. But
- 49:50Speaker 1: if you're giving me eight ounces wings one day and
- 49:52Speaker 1: two ounce queens the next day, I can't deliver that
- 49:55Speaker 1: to my guests. If you're delivering me, you know, high
- 49:58Speaker 1: quality wings one day, or catfish one day, in low
- 50:00Speaker 1: quality catfish another day. I can't deliver that to my guests.
- 50:03Speaker 1: You have to stay consistent in the quality that your
- 50:07Speaker 1: guests deserved. That's important that you say that, because it
- 50:10Speaker 1: was uh, you know, twenty years the quality product, quality service,
- 50:13Speaker 1: all the time, all the time. Consistency. Construction. I got
- 50:17Speaker 1: daddy behind consistency. I forgot about this street construction on Maine. Man,
- 50:20Speaker 1: that was that was a terror. Man, when you was
- 50:22Speaker 1: dealing with that, you know, you know, look, look people,
- 50:28Speaker 1: you know that was a big deal back in there, right,
- 50:29Speaker 1: How are you surviving under construction? Man? We went in
- 50:33Speaker 1: knowing construction was coming, right, you know, I pulled the
- 50:36Speaker 1: Bernie on it. I was like, I ain't scared no construction.
- 50:39Speaker 1: That O faces me, right, I look, I looked forward
- 50:43Speaker 1: to the future, not the president tents. And what was
- 50:46Speaker 1: the future? Yeah, they told Maine because they were building
- 50:49Speaker 1: the rail, the future was that was gonna be a rail.
- 50:52Speaker 1: That's there. You get what I'm saying. You know, they
- 50:54Speaker 1: flowed Travis because they wanted to widen the street. I
- 50:57Speaker 1: could have looked and said, I can't go on Travis
- 50:59Speaker 1: because the tann the street up the future was You're
- 51:01Speaker 1: gonna have a wider h lane with You're gonna have
- 51:04Speaker 1: a wider street, more lanes with no botto holes. You
- 51:07Speaker 1: gotta look forward to the bigger picture and be willing
- 51:11Speaker 1: to take the sacrifice at the beginning or somewhere in between.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Now surrounding myself with all this great product. You know, man,
- 51:18Speaker 1: you know you're stealing that. Man, you need to be
- 51:20Speaker 1: cooking something. Look at you know, like you know it's
- 51:23Speaker 1: first of all, you know you know my wife, you
- 51:25Speaker 1: know she likes to bake everything. Now you know so,
- 51:28Speaker 1: And I'm just tell you how something it say, it's
- 51:29Speaker 1: fried on the back. It works great baked because I
- 51:33Speaker 1: hit but I hit it with some of mine you
- 51:36Speaker 1: know that some oil, sure, and then put it on
- 51:39Speaker 1: four hundred degrees. See, I would tell you something. Man,
- 51:42Speaker 1: what you're not gonna do is stop me from eating
- 51:44Speaker 1: great food. This is great seats, real simple, you know,
- 51:47Speaker 1: put it put it in that or or you want
- 51:49Speaker 1: to put butter on it, drop it in there and
- 51:51Speaker 1: put it in four hundred degrees. Then spray olive. All
- 51:55Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Spread with that olive, I can
- 51:57Speaker 1: look hands spray cold it four hundred degrees and by
- 52:03Speaker 1: forty minutes later, bam, it's outstanding. This is what I
- 52:07Speaker 1: said to y'all. He see he just got fried, old
- 52:10Speaker 1: school fried. Back here. I'm talking about young cat right here.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I beg all this great stuff, great chicken, great fish.
- 52:18Speaker 1: All that is beautiful. I put my I put my
- 52:20Speaker 1: season right here on my beans. That's why I just
- 52:23Speaker 1: love it. Because see, I was laughing myself the other
- 52:25Speaker 1: day because my wife or son that she was at
- 52:27Speaker 1: the office and I made some beans, some red beans,
- 52:29Speaker 1: and made some corn bread. And she's what you put like?
- 52:32Speaker 1: She said. She's a perfect clue. She said, it isn't
- 52:33Speaker 1: that that place he used to said, yeah, she said,
- 52:35Speaker 1: point you get everything. I said, that's my boy, Marcus. Seriously,
- 52:39Speaker 1: I use your stuff. And she asked me what I
- 52:41Speaker 1: put in it? Because she's she's now she's like meat
- 52:43Speaker 1: in her beans anymore. So I just put this in here.
- 52:46Speaker 1: You know, I throw a little hallapeenions in there, you know,
- 52:49Speaker 1: pickle hallerpeen. It's a little stanger in there, and brother outstanding.
- 52:53Speaker 1: But you make a great product. You make a great
- 52:55Speaker 1: service to your customers. One of other things you got
- 52:58Speaker 1: on Horizon right quick, Marcus, for we close out, man.
- 53:01Speaker 1: We got all the great things that we've been doing
- 53:04Speaker 1: for the last two years. We gotta continue to do them.
- 53:06Speaker 1: We got h we got a food truck coming out,
- 53:08Speaker 1: so stay tuned for that. We're working on a day
- 53:12Speaker 1: of inspiration where we're going to do our best to
- 53:14Speaker 1: inspire Houstonians with local Uh, Eustone with Eustonians. Right, Eustonians
- 53:21Speaker 1: inspiring Eustonians. I had to get that out grids taking
- 53:24Speaker 1: my teeth. But you get what I'm saying. Uh, and
- 53:26Speaker 1: and and more. Man. When when our food truck comes out,
- 53:29Speaker 1: we're gonna put that bad ball on the road. We're
- 53:31Speaker 1: gonna go on a little tour. I might even stop
- 53:33Speaker 1: in your city. Well, first of all, just let me
- 53:35Speaker 1: know something, come get it because I love good food.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you, Marcus, I do just love it.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I love you and love what you're doing. On Mondays,
- 53:42Speaker 1: I do my month motivation on Monday, and I feature
- 53:46Speaker 1: like last week was Risk, this week was Will Packer uh,
- 53:49Speaker 1: and last week was Rick Rowls. Just some of the
- 53:51Speaker 1: names I feature. I want to feature you, man, on
- 53:54Speaker 1: Monday in the month of October. I want to celebrate
- 53:57Speaker 1: your twentieth anniversary with you with all my followers, man,
- 54:00Speaker 1: And that's why I've been just right down all these
- 54:02Speaker 1: great fools, because you you're a great words smith. I
- 54:04Speaker 1: like to write down what you're talking like, you know,
- 54:06Speaker 1: twenty years, quality product, quality service all the time. So
- 54:10Speaker 1: if I have three hurricanes, a pandemic, street construction, and
- 54:13Speaker 1: got now you got a food truck, hey, man product,
- 54:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna celebrate you my own way with a big
- 54:19Speaker 1: thank you because when you started social media wasn't there,
- 54:22Speaker 1: but it's here now. So what's better way for a
- 54:24Speaker 1: friend to say thank you to another friend and an
- 54:27Speaker 1: entrepreneur who's making a difference in the community with a
- 54:29Speaker 1: k my man, Marcus hey building with kinda one grid
- 54:36Speaker 1: at the time. That's what we're doing over here, Hey, Marcus,
- 54:38Speaker 1: thank you for calling me man. I always appreciate your brother.
- 54:40Speaker 1: But I'm gonna send your link to you so you
- 54:42Speaker 1: know I do what I say. Man. But again, everybody
- 54:46Speaker 1: spread that bad boy. If you don't want to fry,
- 54:48Speaker 1: you know, got a little old, just put this bad
- 54:51Speaker 1: boy into with with that meet up man dip that
