- 0:00Luke Chapter 21 And he looked up and saw the rich putting their
- 0:04gifts into the treasury. And he saw a poor widow putting
- 0:07in two small copper coins. And he said, Truly, I say to
- 0:10you, this poor widow put in more than all of them, for they all
- 0:14out of their surplus put into the offering, But she out of her
- 0:17poverty put in all that she had to live on.
- 0:20And while some were talking about the temple, that it was
- 0:23adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, he said, As
- 0:27for these things which you are looking at, the days will come
- 0:30in which there will not be left one stone upon another which
- 0:33will not be torn down. They questioned him, saying,
- 0:36Teacher, when therefore will these things happen, and what
- 0:40will be the sign that these things are about to take place?
- 0:43And he said, See to it that you are not misled, for many will
- 0:46come in my name, saying, I am he and the time is near.
- 0:50Do not go after them. When you hear of wars and
- 0:53disturbances, do not be terrified, for these things must
- 0:56take place first, but the end does not follow immediately.
- 1:00Then he continued by saying to them, Nation will rise against
- 1:04nation and Kingdom against Kingdom, and there will be great
- 1:06earthquakes and in various places plagues and famines, and
- 1:10there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.
- 1:13But before all these things they will lay their hands on you and
- 1:17will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and
- 1:20prisons, bringing you before kings and governors.
- 1:22For my name's sake. It will lead to an opportunity
- 1:25for your testimony. So make up your minds not to
- 1:28prepare beforehand to defend yourselves.
- 1:31For I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your
- 1:33opponents will be able to resist or refute.
- 1:36But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and
- 1:39relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
- 1:43And you will be hated by all because of My name.
- 1:45Yet not a hair of your head will perish.
- 1:48By your endurance you will gain your lives.
- 1:51But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then
- 1:54recognize that her desolation is near.
- 1:57Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those
- 2:00who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in
- 2:03the country must not enter the city, because these are days of
- 2:06vengeance, so that all things which are written will be
- 2:09fulfilled. Woe to those who are pregnant
- 2:11and to those who are nursing babies in those days.
- 2:14For there will be great distress upon the land and wrath to this
- 2:17people, and they will fall by the edge of the sword and will
- 2:20be LED captive into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be
- 2:23trampled under foot by the Gentiles.
- 2:25Until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
- 2:28There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the
- 2:31earth. Dismay among nations in
- 2:34perplexity at the roaring of the sea, in the waves, men fainting
- 2:37from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon
- 2:40the world. For the powers of the heavens
- 2:42will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of
- 2:45Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
- 2:49But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and
- 2:51lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
- 2:55Then he told them a parable. Behold the fig tree and all the
- 2:58trees. As soon as they put forth
- 3:01leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now
- 3:04near. So you also, when you see these
- 3:06things happening, recognize that the Kingdom of God is near.
- 3:10Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away
- 3:12until all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away,
- 3:16but my words will not pass away. Be on guard so that your hearts
- 3:20will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and
- 3:23the worries of life, and that day will not come on you
- 3:26suddenly like a trap, for it will come upon all those who
- 3:29dwell on the face of all the earth.
- 3:31But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have
- 3:33strength to escape all these things that are about to take
- 3:36place and to stand before the Son of Man.
- 3:40Now during the day he was teaching in the temple, but at
- 3:42evening he would go out and spend the night on the mount
- 3:44that is called Olivet, and all the people would get up early in
- 3:47the morning to come to him in the temple to listen to him.
