- 1:49Speaker 4: Look, come.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Come on you think, uh huh, I sure will.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Good morning everybody. You all listen to the voice.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Come on dig me now, one and only Steve Harvey
- 2:10Speaker 6: got a radio show. I thank God for it every day.
- 2:13Speaker 6: I try to remember that too, you know. I try
- 2:15Speaker 6: to remember to be grateful. I think gratitude is one
- 2:20Speaker 6: of the things that helps keep me grounded. You can
- 2:23Speaker 6: go as far as you want in life. If you
- 2:25Speaker 6: don't mind who gets the credit. Well that applies to
- 2:28Speaker 6: God too, don't it. I mean, you know, really, if
- 2:31Speaker 6: you don't mind who gets the credit. I'm surrounded by
- 2:36Speaker 6: very competent people. I'm surrounded by a lot of people
- 2:40Speaker 6: who work hard on their jobs on their career, who
- 2:45Speaker 6: are dedicated employees and also just dedicated to their families
- 2:50Speaker 6: and you know, dedicated to their own set of aspirations.
- 2:54Speaker 6: I don't expect anybody to work for me forever. I
- 2:58Speaker 6: always look at my opportunities are stepping stones because I
- 3:03Speaker 6: want everyone around me really to aspire to be more.
- 3:07Speaker 6: I mean, that's really the way I am. I'm not
- 3:10Speaker 6: any other way. I'm not trying to hold you to
- 3:12Speaker 6: this position. You know, tell you there's no room for
- 3:16Speaker 6: growth any of that. But even though I'm surrounded by
- 3:20Speaker 6: these people, I'm grateful that God placed them in my path.
- 3:28Speaker 2: In my life.
- 3:30Speaker 6: But in my mind, in my spirit, in everything in me,
- 3:37Speaker 6: the credit still belongs to God. I'm sorry. The credit
- 3:42Speaker 6: still belongs to God. See if you would, just for
- 3:47Speaker 6: a moment, stop thinking about yourself, just for a moment.
- 3:53Speaker 6: I know that's hard, but just for a moment, stop
- 3:56Speaker 6: thinking about yourself and realize that maybe you are who
- 4:00Speaker 6: you are because God is who he is. Maybe that's
- 4:04Speaker 6: the case. Have you ever considered that? That's the strongest
- 4:08Speaker 6: possibility I can give to you? You know, how do
- 4:12Speaker 6: you think you the one that made it through? How
- 4:16Speaker 6: you think you the one after all of the ignorant
- 4:20Speaker 6: decisions we have made? And oh my goodness, let's all
- 4:24Speaker 6: be honest. Ain't we made some crazy decisions I'm talking about, man,
- 4:29Speaker 6: I have made decisions so adverse to my destiny and career,
- 4:34Speaker 6: my promises. I've made some decisions man, knowingly you hear
- 4:40Speaker 6: me knowingly do something wrong, and in spite of all that,
- 4:45Speaker 6: I'm still here standing. Okay, come on now, really, really,
- 4:50Speaker 6: all the dirt you'd bene done, everybody done dirt, all
- 4:55Speaker 6: the mistakes you've made, you in the position you in
- 4:59Speaker 6: today because of what? Because you all that? Because you
- 5:03Speaker 6: work harder than anybody else. Look, I work hard, I'll
- 5:08Speaker 6: be I'll tell you in a minute.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I work hard.
- 5:10Speaker 6: But I don't think I'm the hardest working person out there.
- 5:13Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure somebody done work way harder than I have.
- 5:17Speaker 6: So okay, so you work hard? Okay, cool, I got
- 5:20Speaker 6: all that. But man, what about his grace and his mercy?
- 5:27Speaker 6: What about his favor? How many times, man, you done
- 5:32Speaker 6: relied on that even when you ain't know you was
- 5:34Speaker 6: relying on it? How many times man, gods just shown
- 5:38Speaker 6: you mercy you ain't even deserve it? Do you know
- 5:41Speaker 6: how many things I've done wrong? I just ain't get
- 5:43Speaker 6: caught at it? You know, let me see how simple
- 5:48Speaker 6: I can be? You speed you jwall. You lie to
- 5:54Speaker 6: police when you get pulled over that you wasn't speeding.
- 5:58Speaker 6: You go to court and argue you wasn't speeding when
- 6:00Speaker 6: you was. You make U turns. I'm just doing traffic violations. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 6: let's get off traffic for a second. Let's get on
- 6:11Speaker 6: human violations. You talk about people when you're not supposed to.
- 6:17Speaker 6: You indulge yourself in gossip even when you don't really
- 6:21Speaker 6: have all the facts. You pass judgment, You lust for
- 6:27Speaker 6: people that don't belong to you. You say things to
- 6:32Speaker 6: people that you're not supposed to say. So, look, all
- 6:38Speaker 6: of us, we all were all guilty. Now see I'm
- 6:43Speaker 6: not saying you do all of that, but I'm saying
- 6:45Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure I hit you somewhere in there, just
- 6:48Speaker 6: somewhere in there. You don't lie before you know you
- 6:52Speaker 6: lied recently. I mean, come on, And I'm just saying
- 6:55Speaker 6: so with all that in mind. See, I'm just looking
- 6:57Speaker 6: at the little things that we do that we don't
- 6:59Speaker 6: get busted. Not to mention the chips you stole when
- 7:02Speaker 6: you was a kid and nobody caught you. Well, that elevated,
- 7:06Speaker 6: didn't it. And some of y'all just didn't stop stealing,
- 7:08Speaker 6: and next thing you know, you was in a car.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Now you're sitting somewhere you don't want to be sitting
- 7:13Speaker 6: because of a decision you made. But through his grace
- 7:16Speaker 6: and mercy, couldn't it have been worse?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Though?
- 7:18Speaker 6: Without his grace and mercy, could not it have been worse.
- 7:22Speaker 6: I know two dudes that got caught in the garage
- 7:24Speaker 6: one time trying to break in somebody's house, and the
- 7:27Speaker 6: person in the house they broke into just happened to
- 7:29Speaker 6: have a gun and held them in the garage, caught
- 7:33Speaker 6: them and held them to the garage to the police car.
- 7:36Speaker 6: That's Grace and Mercy right there, because they had all
- 7:39Speaker 6: full right to shoot these two people, but they didn't.
- 7:43Speaker 6: They're Grace and Mercy. See, all of us have benefited
- 7:46Speaker 6: from his grace and mercy. All of us have done
- 7:49Speaker 6: a wrong, committed a sin, broken the law, and somehow,
- 7:53Speaker 6: through his grace and mercy, got by, doing drugs, buying drugs,
- 7:57Speaker 6: slanging drugs, doing something, got by, jump on somebody for
- 8:00Speaker 6: no reason, got by, you know. So see how you
- 8:06Speaker 6: figure with all that that can go on in your life?
- 8:09Speaker 6: And then hold on, let me throw a couple more
- 8:11Speaker 6: at you. You can't wake yourself up in the morning,
- 8:14Speaker 6: mister big shot. You don't have the ability to control
- 8:20Speaker 6: the breaths that you take. Really, mister big shot, really,
- 8:25Speaker 6: let's get real basic with it now. You can't wake
- 8:28Speaker 6: yourself up in the morning. That's favor, that's grace, that's mercy,
- 8:37Speaker 6: that's Him allowing you to wake up just hoping we
- 8:41Speaker 6: get it right. You know, God spared me through all
- 8:45Speaker 6: the dirt I was doing just hoping. One day, man,
- 8:47Speaker 6: can you just straighten up a little bit? When I
- 8:51Speaker 6: finally straightened up, and I'm gonna just say it, straightened
- 8:53Speaker 6: up a little bit. See, I ain't straightened up all
- 8:55Speaker 6: the way. Say, I ain't gonna sit here and tell
- 8:57Speaker 6: you that I just straightened up a little bit. He
- 9:00Speaker 6: started blessing me. So the more blessings I got start going, Man,
- 9:03Speaker 6: maybe I'll try straighten up a little bit more. So
- 9:05Speaker 6: I straightened up a little bit more. I still got
- 9:07Speaker 6: a long way to go, but I'm straighter than I
- 9:10Speaker 6: was now. When people judging me, and as they will,
- 9:13Speaker 6: and they do, because that ain't right, but they do,
- 9:15Speaker 6: and I ain't walking just the way they walk, Then
- 9:17Speaker 6: here come to criticism.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I get it. All the time.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Stop wanting credit all the time, and give out some
- 9:23Speaker 6: credit where credit is due instead of having somebody patting
- 9:27Speaker 6: you on your back all the time.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Why don't you tell God kill people it was really
- 9:31Speaker 2: was God, man that you don't really know how you
- 9:33Speaker 2: made it?
- 9:34Speaker 6: That really man, you have no explanation for your success,
- 9:37Speaker 6: or you have no explanation why you still exist in
- 9:39Speaker 6: the day. Why don't you tell somebody it was God today?
- 9:42Speaker 6: Don't be ashamed. It's the truth, ain't it. I mean, really, man,
- 9:46Speaker 6: let's give God some credit here. Give God the credit
- 9:50Speaker 6: and the glory and the honor. And like that plaque said,
- 9:53Speaker 6: you can go as far as you want in life
- 9:54Speaker 6: if you don't mind who gets the credit.
- 9:56Speaker 2: All right, you're.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 10:02Speaker 6: All right, everybody, welcome to the ride. This is the
- 10:04Speaker 6: Steve Harvey Morning Showing. A very very special morning. This
- 10:06Speaker 6: is Martin Luther King Holiday. We got a national holiday
- 10:11Speaker 6: for such a great man. I was just recently in
- 10:15Speaker 6: Memphis and I stood on the balcony at the Lorraine
- 10:18Speaker 6: Motel and took photos in the exact spot that on
- 10:22Speaker 6: front of the reef where Martin Luther King was killed.
- 10:25Speaker 6: That was my first time ever doing that. It was
- 10:29Speaker 6: an eerie feeling. Eerie. Now the building across the street
- 10:33Speaker 6: where the shot was fired from, that building's gone, but
- 10:37Speaker 6: they've turned it into the National Civil Rights Museum. Wonderful place.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Man a lot of history there, had a lot of stuff,
- 10:44Speaker 6: a lot of information. It was a good visit. So
- 10:48Speaker 6: I just did that and so and saw all of
- 10:51Speaker 6: the paraphernalia that they sell, so many pictures of King,
- 10:53Speaker 6: so many sweatshirts. But I am a man on it
- 10:56Speaker 6: and everything. It's just so much. He did mynment march
- 11:01Speaker 6: on the monument and all of that was up there
- 11:03Speaker 6: in the Civil Rights Museum. If you get a chance
- 11:06Speaker 6: to visit in Memphis, it is worth it.
- 11:08Speaker 2: It is worth it.
- 11:09Speaker 6: And they preserve They have the same cars that were
- 11:12Speaker 6: out front on that day. They're in the parking lot.
- 11:16Speaker 6: It's a uh and you can go and they some
- 11:19Speaker 6: people are allowed on the balcony. We just happened to
- 11:22Speaker 6: be one of them. Very fortunate, but it was. It
- 11:24Speaker 6: was every fielding out. It's not a smile photo.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I can tell you that. That's all I can say. Yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 2: But welcome to the ride.
- 11:33Speaker 6: John Shirley Strawberry calling for real Mississippi Monica Junior and
- 11:36Speaker 6: the legend that is nephew Tommy Junior.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Today anything, well, you.
- 11:41Speaker 7: Know it's you know, it's doctor King's day.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Man.
- 11:44Speaker 7: You know, I wasn't alive when Doctor King was here. Man,
- 11:46Speaker 7: I wasn't there.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Talking to babies. Yeah, yeah, I ain't stories, Junior. They
- 11:54Speaker 6: historical events. They're not just stories. They they ain't like
- 11:57Speaker 6: Mary had a little lamb or nothing like that. As
- 12:00Speaker 6: you're talking about it sounds I can't stand talking to
- 12:02Speaker 6: kids sometimes.
- 12:06Speaker 2: No damn sense of history. I wasn't alive. I just
- 12:09Speaker 2: hear about the stories.
- 12:11Speaker 6: This ain't no bedtime story, you know, baby, you know
- 12:15Speaker 6: one time there was a time where we couldn't sit
- 12:18Speaker 6: at the lunch kind and eat our food. Sometimes we
- 12:21Speaker 6: crossed the street.
- 12:22Speaker 2: And they side.
- 12:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm just trying to that. That's what sometimes, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 6: you know, I'm just messing with you doing you sometimes. Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 6: just sometimes you know, just young people get on my
- 12:35Speaker 6: damn nerves because you know they wasn't now so now
- 12:38Speaker 6: it's a story like it's like people can't believe, Like
- 12:41Speaker 6: I give you an example, these young people today, they
- 12:44Speaker 6: can't believe that Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player
- 12:49Speaker 6: to ever live.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Some boy telling me how good John Morani is. I'm going, wait, man,
- 12:54Speaker 2: hold man, what I mean? They have a little ignorant
- 12:57Speaker 2: ass argument. He is not my Jordan, That's for sure.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Nobody is. You know, you know I appreciate that. Just
- 13:06Speaker 2: just amazing.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Somehow you wouldn't now you think, hell now Lebron Lebron
- 13:11Speaker 6: is a great basketball player and he's accomplished is something
- 13:14Speaker 6: I've never seen them before. His longevity, getting his boy
- 13:16Speaker 6: in the league and all like that. But you know,
- 13:19Speaker 6: last week y'all asked me who i'd rather be? Will
- 13:21Speaker 6: have a Lebron's little Lebron's body or Jalen hurts face
- 13:25Speaker 6: and give me his face because I don't want to
- 13:27Speaker 6: be six nine and slew.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Foot thirty two minutes after the album.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Already let my hair go. He won't even stupid.
- 13:37Speaker 6: I got Bron's hair, Junior's hair, HAIRBODYLK.
- 13:45Speaker 1: You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Did you know you can now buy a Hondai on Amazon,
- 13:54Speaker 6: the same place where you order yoga mats, a toothbrush,
- 13:57Speaker 6: and pretty much everything else, all from the puffet of
- 14:00Speaker 6: your home just located nearby dealer, pick your color, your options,

- 14:07Speaker 6: eyes and crossing some tea's, voila, your Hondai is ready

- 14:13Speaker 2: It's that easy.

- 14:18Speaker 8: pick up through participating Hondai dealers and select.
- 14:20Speaker 6: Market Right now, here's the drum major stique speech on
- 14:24Speaker 6: the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 14:25Speaker 3: An instinct. It's a kind of drum major instinct.
- 14:29Speaker 9: A desire to be out front, a desire to lead
- 14:33Speaker 9: the parade, a desire to be first. It is something
- 14:39Speaker 9: that runs a whole gamut of life. And so before
- 14:43Speaker 9: we condemn them, let us see that we all have
- 14:48Speaker 9: the drum major instinct.
- 14:51Speaker 1: We all want to be.
- 14:53Speaker 9: Important, to surpass others, to achieve distinction, to lead the parade.
- 15:03Speaker 9: Alfred Adler, the great psychoanalyst, contends that this is the
- 15:09Speaker 9: dominant impulse. Sigmund Fraud used to contend that sex was
- 15:15Speaker 9: the dominant impulse, and Adler came with a new argument,
- 15:18Speaker 9: saying that this quest for recognition, this desire for attention,
- 15:25Speaker 9: this desire for distinction, is the basic impulse, the basic
- 15:33Speaker 9: drive of human human life this drum major instinct. And
- 15:41Speaker 9: you know we begin early to ask life to put
- 15:44Speaker 9: us first. Our first cry as a baby was a
- 15:51Speaker 9: bid for attention, and all through childhood the drum major
- 15:58Speaker 9: impulse or instinct is a major obsession. Children ask life
- 16:07Speaker 9: to grant them first place.
- 16:12Speaker 3: They are a little bundle of ego. They have innately
- 16:21Speaker 3: the drum major instinct. Now in adult life we still
- 16:27Speaker 3: have it, and we really never get by it.
- 16:32Speaker 9: We like to do something good, and you know, we
- 16:36Speaker 9: like to be praised for it. Now, if you don't
- 16:39Speaker 9: believe that, you just go on living life and you
- 16:44Speaker 9: will discover very soon that you like to be praised.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Everybody likes it as a matter of fact.
- 16:53Speaker 9: And somehow this warm blow we feel when we are
- 16:57Speaker 9: praised or when our name aim is in print, is
- 17:02Speaker 9: something of the vitamin aid to our ego. Nobody is
- 17:09Speaker 9: unhappy when they are praised, even if they know they.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Don't deserve it, and even if they don't believe it.
- 17:17Speaker 9: The only unhappy people about praise is when that praise
- 17:21Speaker 9: is going too much towards somebody else. Right, But everybody
- 17:26Speaker 9: likes to be praised because of this real drum major
- 17:32Speaker 9: instinct do you know that a lot of the race
- 17:36Speaker 9: problem grows out of the drum major instinct, a need
- 17:42Speaker 9: that some people have to feel superior, a need that
- 17:49Speaker 9: some people have to feel that they are first, and
- 17:54Speaker 9: to feel that their white skin.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Ordain them to be first.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Played today, they have said over and over again in
- 18:06Speaker 3: ways that we see with our own eyes.
- 18:11Speaker 9: In fact, not too long ago, a man down in
- 18:14Speaker 9: Mississippi said that God was a charred member of the
- 18:18Speaker 9: White Citizens' Council, And so God being the charter member
- 18:25Speaker 9: means that everybody who's in that has a kind of divinity,
- 18:30Speaker 9: a kind of superiority. And think of what has happened
- 18:34Speaker 9: in historism as a result, this perverted use of the
- 18:40Speaker 9: drum made instinct led to the most tragic prejudice, the
- 18:45Speaker 9: most tragic expressions of man's.
- 18:47Speaker 1: In humanity to man.
- 18:50Speaker 9: And not only does this thing go into the racial struggle,
- 18:55Speaker 9: goes into the struggle between nations. And I would submit
- 19:01Speaker 9: to you this morning that what is wrong in the
- 19:03Speaker 9: world today is the the nations of the world engaged
- 19:06Speaker 9: in a bitter, colossal.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Contest for supremacy.
- 19:11Speaker 9: And if some doesn't have them to stop this trend,
- 19:14Speaker 9: I'm sorely afraid that we won't be here to talk
- 19:19Speaker 9: about Jesus Christ and about God and about brotherhood too
- 19:23Speaker 9: many more years.
- 19:27Speaker 3: If somebody doesn't bring it in to.
- 19:30Speaker 9: This suicidal thrust that we see in the world today,
- 19:35Speaker 9: none of us are going to be around because somebody
- 19:39Speaker 9: is going to make the mistake, through our senseless blunderings,
- 19:43Speaker 9: of dropping a nuclear bomb somewhere, and then.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Another one is going to drop.
- 19:47Speaker 9: And don't let anybody fool you. This can happen within
- 19:52Speaker 9: a matter of seconds. They have twenty megaton bombs in.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Russia right now that can destroy our cities, biggest New
- 20:00Speaker 3: York in three seconds, with everybody wiped away in every building.
- 20:04Speaker 3: And we can do the same thing to Russian China.
- 20:07Speaker 3: But this is why we are drifted, and we are
- 20:09Speaker 3: drifting there because nations are caught up with the drum
- 20:14Speaker 3: major instinct. I must be first, I must be supreme,
- 20:19Speaker 3: our a nation must rule the world. And I am
- 20:23Speaker 3: sad to say that the nation in which we live
- 20:26Speaker 3: is the supreme culprit. And I'm gonna continue to say
- 20:31Speaker 3: it to America because I love this country too much
- 20:35Speaker 3: to see the drift that it has taken. God didn't
- 20:39Speaker 3: call America to do what she's doing in the world.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Now, God didn't call America.
- 20:46Speaker 3: To engage in a senseless, unjust war as a war
- 20:50Speaker 3: in Vietnam, and we are criminals in that war. We
- 20:54Speaker 3: have committed more war crimes almost than any nation in
- 20:57Speaker 3: the world. And I'm going to continue to say it,
- 21:00Speaker 3: and we won't stop it the cost of our pride
- 21:04Speaker 3: and I recon sells the nation. But God has a
- 21:07Speaker 3: way of even putting nations in that place.
- 21:11Speaker 6: Everybody here, here's the fact of no matter. Doctor Martin
- 21:14Speaker 6: Luther King Junior's speech to drum Major Instinct speech. It
- 21:17Speaker 6: was actually delivered at Ebeneze, a Baptist church in Atlanta, Georgia,
- 21:21Speaker 6: on February fourth, nineteen sixty eight.
- 21:26Speaker 10: It's time to talk about life insurance. It's one of
- 21:29Speaker 10: those things that everyone should have, and Globe Life makes
- 21:33Speaker 10: it easy with no medical exam, just a simple application
- 21:36Speaker 10: and coverage options up to one hundred thousand dollars. Get
- 21:40Speaker 10: the coverage you need in twenty twenty five. Go online

- 21:59Speaker 8: Welcome back to ther We will continue with more of
- 22:01Speaker 8: doctor King's the drum major instinct speech.
- 22:03Speaker 9: Nobody is unhappy when they are praised, even if they
- 22:08Speaker 9: know they don't deserve it, and even if they don't
- 22:11Speaker 9: believe it. The only unhappy people about praise is when
- 22:15Speaker 9: that praise is going too much towards somebody else. But
- 22:21Speaker 9: everybody likes to be praised because of this real drum
- 22:27Speaker 9: major instinct. But you know that a lot of the
- 22:32Speaker 9: race problem grows out of the drum major instinct, a need.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That some people have.
- 22:41Speaker 11: To feel superior, a need that some people have to
- 22:46Speaker 11: feel that they are first, and to feel that their
- 22:51Speaker 11: white skin ordain.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Them to be first. They have said over and over.
- 23:00Speaker 1: The game in ways that we see with our own eyes.
- 23:07Speaker 9: In fact, not too long ago, a man down in
- 23:10Speaker 9: Mississippi said that God was a charter member of the
- 23:14Speaker 9: White Citizens' Council, and so God being the charter member
- 23:23Speaker 9: means that everybody who's in that has a kind of divinity,
- 23:29Speaker 9: a kind of superiority. And think of what has happened
- 23:32Speaker 9: in historism as a result, this perverted use of the
- 23:38Speaker 9: drum made instinct led to the most tragic prejudice, the
- 23:43Speaker 9: most tragic expressions of.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Man's in humanity to man.
- 23:49Speaker 9: And not only does this thing go into the racial struggle,
- 23:54Speaker 9: goes into the struggle between nations. And I would submit
- 24:00Speaker 9: to you this morning that what is wrong in the
- 24:02Speaker 9: world today is that the nations of the world engaged
- 24:05Speaker 9: in a bitter, colossal contest for supremacy. And if some
- 24:11Speaker 9: doesn't have them to stop this trend, I'm sorely afraid
- 24:16Speaker 9: that we won't be here to talk about Jesus Christ
- 24:20Speaker 9: and about God and about brotherhood too many more years.
- 24:26Speaker 9: If somebody donet bringing in to this suicidal thrust that
- 24:32Speaker 9: we see in the world today, none of us.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Are going to be around because.
- 24:38Speaker 9: Somebody is going to make the mistake through our senseless blunderings,
- 24:42Speaker 9: of dropping a nuclear bomb somewhere, and then another one
- 24:46Speaker 9: is going to drop. And don't let anybody fool you,
- 24:51Speaker 9: this can happen within a matter of second. They have
- 24:54Speaker 9: twenty megapron bombs in.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Russia right now that can destroy our city, biggest New
- 25:00Speaker 3: York in three seconds, with everybody wiped away in every building,
- 25:05Speaker 3: and we can do the same thing to Russian China.
- 25:07Speaker 3: But this is why we are drifted, and we are
- 25:09Speaker 3: drifting there because nations are caught up with the drum
- 25:14Speaker 3: major instinct. I must be first, I must be supreme.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Our a nation must rule the world.
- 25:22Speaker 9: And I am sad to say that the nation in
- 25:26Speaker 9: which we live is the supreme culprit. And I'm gonna
- 25:31Speaker 9: continue to say it to America because I love.
- 25:34Speaker 3: This country too much to see the drift that it
- 25:37Speaker 3: has taken. God didn't call America to do what she's
- 25:42Speaker 3: doing in the world now.
- 25:45Speaker 1: God didn't call America.
- 25:47Speaker 3: To engage in a senseless, unjust war as a war
- 25:51Speaker 3: in Vietnam, and we are criminals in that war. We
- 25:55Speaker 3: have committed more war crimes almost than any nation in
- 25:58Speaker 3: the world. And I'm gonna continue to say it, and
- 26:01Speaker 3: we won't.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Stop it because of our pride.
- 26:05Speaker 3: And I a regon says a nation. But God has
- 26:08Speaker 3: a way of even putting nations in that place. God
- 26:12Speaker 3: that I worship has a way of saying, don't play
- 26:15Speaker 3: with me. He has a way of saying.
- 26:22Speaker 9: He's a God of the Old Testament used to say
- 26:25Speaker 9: him the Hebrews don't play with me, Israel, don't play
- 26:29Speaker 9: with me battling, be stealing.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Know that I'm God.
- 26:36Speaker 3: If you don't stuck your reckless course, I'll rise up.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And break the backbone of your power.
- 26:44Speaker 3: That can happen to America. Every now and then I
- 26:48Speaker 3: go back and read Gibbons Decline and Fall of the
- 26:51Speaker 3: Roman Empire.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And when I come and look.
- 26:54Speaker 9: At America, I say to myself, the parallels are frightening.
- 27:00Speaker 9: We have perverted the drum maid's instinct. Every nine then
- 27:07Speaker 9: I guess we all think realistically about that day when
- 27:13Speaker 9: we will be victimized with what is life's final common denominator.
- 27:20Speaker 9: That's something we call death. We all think about it.
- 27:27Speaker 9: And every nine and then I think about my own death,
- 27:31Speaker 9: and I think about my own funeral, and I don't
- 27:34Speaker 9: think of it in a morbid sense. Every nine then
- 27:38Speaker 9: I ask myself what is it that I would want say?
- 27:44Speaker 9: And I leave the word to you this morning, if
- 27:48Speaker 9: any of you around when I have to.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Meet my day, I don't want a long funeral. And
- 27:56Speaker 3: if you get somebody to deliver the ulitity, tell them
- 27:59Speaker 3: not to talk too long. And every nine and then
- 28:03Speaker 3: I wonder what I want him to say? Tell them
- 28:05Speaker 3: not to mintion that I have a nobel peace pride.
- 28:08Speaker 2: That isn't important.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Tell them not to mention that I have three or
- 28:13Speaker 3: four hundred other awards, that's not important. Tell them not
- 28:16Speaker 3: to mention where I went to school. I like somebody to.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Mention that day, then Martin Luthor King Junior tried to give.
- 28:27Speaker 3: His life serving others. I'd like for somebody to say
- 28:31Speaker 3: that day that Martin Luther King Junior tried to love somebody.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I want you to say that day that I tried
- 28:39Speaker 3: to be right on the work question. I want you
- 28:43Speaker 3: to be able to say that day that I did
- 28:46Speaker 3: try to feed the homengrad. I want you to be
- 28:50Speaker 3: able to say that day that I did try in
- 28:53Speaker 3: my life to call those who were nicked. I want
- 28:57Speaker 3: you to say on that day that I did try
- 29:00Speaker 3: in my life to visit thors who were in prison.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I want you to say that I tried to love
- 29:07Speaker 3: and serve humanity.
- 29:10Speaker 9: Yes, if you want to say that I was a
- 29:12Speaker 9: drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice,
- 29:17Speaker 9: Say that I was a drum major for peace. I
- 29:20Speaker 9: was a drum major for righteousness, and all of the
- 29:24Speaker 9: other shallow things will nothing matter. I won't have any
- 29:28Speaker 9: money to leave behind, I won't have the fine and.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Luxurious things of life to leave behind. But I just
- 29:37Speaker 3: want to leave or committed life behind. And that's all
- 29:41Speaker 3: I want to say. If I can help somebody as
- 29:45Speaker 3: I pass along, if I can cheer somebody with a
- 29:49Speaker 3: word song, if I can show somebody he's traveling wrong,
- 29:54Speaker 3: then my living will not be invaded.
- 29:58Speaker 9: If I can do my dude, he has a Christian alt.
- 30:01Speaker 9: If I can bring salvation to a wall once rot,
- 30:05Speaker 9: if I can spread the message as the Master talk,
- 30:10Speaker 9: then my living will.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Not be in vain.
- 30:15Speaker 10: You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show. Today's MLK Day. It
- 30:22Speaker 10: is a day of service. Reverend doctor Martin Luther King,
- 30:25Speaker 10: Junior devote in his life to service and fighting for
- 30:29Speaker 10: civil rights and freedom. Doctor King had a pursuit for racial, social,
- 30:34Speaker 10: and economic justice. And Steve, I got to ask you
- 30:37Speaker 10: this question. You know you talk about this a lot.
- 30:40Speaker 10: You talked about it earlier this morning. You've been through
- 30:43Speaker 10: a lot growing up. So how have you learned to
- 30:46Speaker 10: deal with racism? How have you dealt with it?
- 30:51Speaker 6: I mean, look, I mean pretty much like most people.
- 30:55Speaker 6: I mean I'm angry about it. I don't understand what's
- 30:59Speaker 6: taking in so long. It just it doesn't make any
- 31:03Speaker 6: sense to me. It's it's actually pathetic. Why is it
- 31:07Speaker 6: that people of color are still asking for equality, which
- 31:12Speaker 6: seems like we're asking it from from from somebody that's
- 31:16Speaker 6: not willing to give it. I mean, it's just obviously
- 31:20Speaker 6: that there are people who are set in their ways,
- 31:23Speaker 6: and it's frustrating now we Even with that said, I
- 31:28Speaker 6: have devoted myself to being the best person that I
- 31:32Speaker 6: can be to elevate myself as high as I can,
- 31:36Speaker 6: but not only elevate myself, stick my hand back down
- 31:39Speaker 6: the wall and bring up as many people as I can,
- 31:42Speaker 6: thus my foundation, thus my ranch, thus me trying to
- 31:47Speaker 6: promote young people, thus helping people. I'm constantly looking for
- 31:52Speaker 6: ways to uplift the the the oppressed, the downtrodden people.
- 31:59Speaker 6: And that carries over into all people too. And that's
- 32:03Speaker 6: what's been crazy about it.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Man.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I'm willing to help all people.
- 32:08Speaker 6: Now, Do I have a special affinity and do I
- 32:11Speaker 6: target mostly people of color?
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, do that.
- 32:17Speaker 6: And I was talking to one guy one day and
- 32:19Speaker 6: he said, well, how can you just target them? I said, well,
- 32:23Speaker 6: that's where I see the most need. I see the
- 32:27Speaker 6: most need in people of color and oppressed people. So
- 32:31Speaker 6: I'm targeting my efforts. I said, you know, look, it's
- 32:35Speaker 6: all types of people come to the camp. Anybody can
- 32:38Speaker 6: come to the camp. Asians are pressed, they walk them
- 32:41Speaker 6: at the camp. All Latinos come to my camp. I
- 32:44Speaker 6: got white kids come to the camp. Yeah, you know,
- 32:48Speaker 6: I got all of them. Diversity, But you know do
- 32:52Speaker 6: you can't get mad at me because I know where
- 32:56Speaker 6: the greater need is and I can see it more.
- 33:01Speaker 6: And it's my obligation because if the government not gonna
- 33:05Speaker 6: do it, and they're trying to cut state funding and
- 33:09Speaker 6: they're not gonna do it, well, let's just look at
- 33:11Speaker 6: this right here. For example, let's just look at the
- 33:14Speaker 6: education disparity in this country. Why do we have an
- 33:17Speaker 6: educational disparity? Because the money on the federal level that
- 33:21Speaker 6: we pay in taxes, and we pay state taxes, local taxes,
- 33:25Speaker 6: it all goes into a fund. Now, the areas that
- 33:29Speaker 6: pay the most funds into the state taxes or the
- 33:33Speaker 6: federal taxes are the places that receive the most money back.
- 33:38Speaker 6: Poor places are not gonna have as big a pool
- 33:41Speaker 6: to pick from so poor places stay behind the eight ball.
- 33:46Speaker 6: It's the system they set up. See, they set that
- 33:50Speaker 6: system up, not me. So what should be happening is
- 33:56Speaker 6: we should as a country make sure that all people
- 33:59Speaker 6: have access to a quality education and a free education.
- 34:03Speaker 6: And that ain't the American way. That ain't the American way.
- 34:08Speaker 6: But that's why we're losing education wise on a global
- 34:11Speaker 6: level because other countries they don't they don't do it
- 34:15Speaker 6: that way. We should all be able to. We make
- 34:18Speaker 6: enough money in this country where everybody should get free
- 34:20Speaker 6: medical there's a business we don't get that.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 34:27Speaker 2: But this is the system they set up. And the
- 34:29Speaker 2: system is not set up.
- 34:31Speaker 6: And targeted for the underprivileged or the oppressed mm hm,
- 34:36Speaker 6: or the less fortunate, that's right, Steve.
- 34:38Speaker 2: So it's not set up that way.
- 34:40Speaker 6: So my obligation and my foundation is fun the less fortunate,
- 34:43Speaker 6: the oppressed, the down trodden, and I go out of
- 34:47Speaker 6: my way to see that that happens. But you know,
- 34:49Speaker 6: we're gonna win. It's just sad that it's taken so
- 34:53Speaker 6: damn long, and it pisses you off. And I would
- 34:57Speaker 6: say this to anybody who is not of color, how
- 35:03Speaker 6: long would you like to wait to be treated equal?
- 35:09Speaker 6: How much time you want to devote to same treatment,
- 35:13Speaker 6: equal pay, fairness in housing? How would you like it
- 35:19Speaker 6: if every time you cut on the news the police
- 35:23Speaker 6: was shooting somebody who.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Looked like you?
- 35:26Speaker 6: How long? How long you want to wait? I mean,
- 35:29Speaker 6: I'm listening. It can't be much. And I don't know
- 35:33Speaker 6: the white lady's name that ask that famous question to
- 35:35Speaker 6: a room full of white people, who in here would
- 35:38Speaker 6: be willing to trade places with black people who not
- 35:42Speaker 6: a hand?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Was that Jane Elliott? Jane, I think so, Jane Elliott?
- 35:48Speaker 6: And she says, because you know that they are being
- 35:53Speaker 6: treated unfairly, but that nobody's doing anything about it. So
- 35:57Speaker 6: we have to do as ourselves. We have to do
- 36:00Speaker 6: this ourselves. We have to keep picking ourselves up. That
- 36:04Speaker 6: old pull yourself up by the bootstraps. Yeah, that's cool,
- 36:07Speaker 6: except a lot of people don't have the boots or
- 36:10Speaker 6: the straps. So you got to keep the faith, and
- 36:13Speaker 6: we got to reach back and we got to help
- 36:15Speaker 6: as many as we can.
- 36:16Speaker 10: And it's so interesting that you asked the question, Steve,
- 36:19Speaker 10: how long, because as we celebrate doctor Martin Luther King
- 36:23Speaker 10: that was in the sixties, that was in the sixties.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I ain't patient.
- 36:28Speaker 6: I'm a lot of patients. I'm done with you talking
- 36:30Speaker 6: about waiting. I ain't waiting no more. See, people don't
- 36:35Speaker 6: hit the wall now. People, whether you ain't gonna know me,
- 36:38Speaker 6: we're gonna take it exacting exhausted.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'm overwhelmed.
- 36:41Speaker 6: I'm sick and tired of it, and we are people
- 36:46Speaker 6: of color are sick and tired of it.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And you would be too if it was happening to you.
- 36:51Speaker 2: But it ain't happening to you, so you ain't got
- 36:52Speaker 2: nothing to be sick and tired of.
- 36:54Speaker 10: That's ng and we'll have more of the Steve Harvey
- 36:57Speaker 10: Morning Show as we celebrate the life and legacy of
- 36:59Speaker 10: doctor Martin Luther King Junior. Right after this, you're listening
- 37:03Speaker 10: the same Harday Morning Show. It's time to talk about
- 37:08Speaker 10: life insurance. It's one of those things that everyone should have,
- 37:12Speaker 10: and Globe Life makes it easy with no medical exam,
- 37:16Speaker 10: just a simple application and coverage options up to one

- 37:36Speaker 10: hundred two five one fifty four hundred.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Happy MLK day, Steve.
- 37:43Speaker 10: This past Friday you celebrated your sixty eighth birthday. Congratulations,
- 37:48Speaker 10: happy Birthdayay and yes, as we all know our birthday, Yes,
- 37:53Speaker 10: he is amen to that. We all know that birthdays
- 37:56Speaker 10: aren't just a celebration of another year passing. There's also
- 37:59Speaker 10: a time to reflect on the past, cherish the present,
- 38:03Speaker 10: and look forward to the future. Of course, it's a
- 38:06Speaker 10: time to celebrate the person you've become and the journey
- 38:09Speaker 10: you're on.
- 38:10Speaker 1: So Steve, tell us about your celebration. How is this year?
- 38:15Speaker 12: And you're filled with endless possibilities?
- 38:17Speaker 5: How?
- 38:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't really discuss my birthday things because haters
- 38:23Speaker 6: is out there listening.
- 38:24Speaker 2: So just you know that I woke up feel with gratitude.
- 38:29Speaker 6: For another thing and you know, but but be honest
- 38:31Speaker 6: with you know, my birthdays and Christmas is they not
- 38:35Speaker 6: feel with gifts and stuff like that.
- 38:37Speaker 2: That's not what it is for me anymore. My have
- 38:40Speaker 2: I mean, like you know, I know my kids.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Always used excuse you know, with your dad, you got
- 38:45Speaker 6: everything well, then I do, so I don't really care,
- 38:47Speaker 6: you know, I really rather would just be appreciated about it. Anything,
- 38:53Speaker 6: you know, man's got it's got a couple of pains
- 38:56Speaker 6: into my back is giving me problems, you know, stiffing,
- 39:00Speaker 6: and then on me they told me I have arthriters
- 39:02Speaker 6: in my and three giudentity degenerative discs in my lower
- 39:07Speaker 6: back which has turned into oarth writers. And they tell
- 39:09Speaker 6: me it's gonna get increasingly worse. But I don't claim
- 39:14Speaker 6: that I'm gonna get that heel because I know God,
- 39:17Speaker 6: and you know, I'm doing stretching and stuff. So it
- 39:22Speaker 6: bothers me sometimes, but nothing debilitating, So I don't worry
- 39:25Speaker 6: about that. Other than that, my health is really really good.
- 39:30Speaker 6: I got rid of all my markers for cardiovascular disease.
- 39:35Speaker 6: I had five markers that was Brewers, got rid of
- 39:38Speaker 6: all those, took the glacogen age test, and I aged.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Out at forty nine. Yeah. My goal is to get
- 39:48Speaker 2: down to forty five and Junior, how old are you?
- 39:52Speaker 1: Forty six?
- 39:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:54Speaker 6: I just want to get to forty five and then
- 39:56Speaker 6: turned forty six and then show Junior how to cut
- 39:58Speaker 6: his hair.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Twenty five.
- 40:04Speaker 1: But you know what I know about you.
- 40:06Speaker 7: You're strong for your age, man, you're super strong man.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Like, No, I'm not finna be weak. I'm talking about
- 40:12Speaker 2: pick up some mind.
- 40:14Speaker 7: If you like, if I shake your hand and you
- 40:16Speaker 7: pulled me in, you you're gonna hug me.
- 40:17Speaker 2: What you're gonna do that? Yeah, we're gonna hud You're
- 40:19Speaker 2: gonna hug get on over sixty got them?
- 40:22Speaker 13: Yeah, they all shake your hand hard, like they've been
- 40:25Speaker 13: flipping briskets on a Bobby kid or something.
- 40:27Speaker 2: I know what's wrong with you to swear out here
- 40:31Speaker 2: in that damn hull.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:35Speaker 6: See, he said, if you like you've been flipping briskeys
- 40:38Speaker 6: but with a dinner for you know, ain't no leverage.
- 40:41Speaker 6: You got to have strong ass, had strong hold a
- 40:45Speaker 6: whole pork butter and flip it with a fuck flip.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:51Speaker 10: All right, coming up, we'll have more of the Steve
- 40:54Speaker 10: Harvey Morning Show on this King Holiday.
- 40:56Speaker 12: Right after this, you're.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Listening Steve Harvey Moore showing the late great civil Rights Icon.
- 41:05Speaker 10: State Representative John Lewis spoke at the March on Washington
- 41:08Speaker 10: back in nineteen sixty three, and then he spoke at
- 41:12Speaker 10: the fiftieth anniversary March on Washington back in two thy fifteen.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Take a listen.
- 41:19Speaker 14: Fifty years ago, fifty years ago, I stood right here
- 41:26Speaker 14: in this spot, twenty three years old, had all of
- 41:31Speaker 14: my hair and a few finals light. So I come
- 41:35Speaker 14: back here again to said, at those days, for the
- 41:42Speaker 14: most part, are gone. But we have another fight. We
- 41:49Speaker 14: must stand up and fight the good fight as we
- 41:52Speaker 14: march today. But they are forces, they are people who
- 41:56Speaker 14: want to take us back. We cannot go back. We
- 42:00Speaker 14: come too far.
- 42:02Speaker 3: We want to go forward.
- 42:06Speaker 14: Back In nineteen sixty three, hundreds and thousand a million
- 42:11Speaker 14: of our brothers and sisters could not registered to vote.
- 42:15Speaker 14: When I stood here fifty years ago, I said, one man,
- 42:20Speaker 14: one vote is African crime.
- 42:22Speaker 2: It is ours too.
- 42:24Speaker 3: It must be ours.
- 42:25Speaker 14: I also said, some people tell us to wait, tell
- 42:30Speaker 14: us to be patient. I said fifty years later, we
- 42:34Speaker 14: cannot wait. We cannot be patient. We want jobs and
- 42:39Speaker 14: we want our freedom now, all of us. It doesn't
- 42:45Speaker 14: matter whether we're black or white. Let you know, Asian America,
- 42:49Speaker 14: a Native American. It doesn't matter whether we're straight, Agay,
- 42:53Speaker 14: we're wan people. We are one family, we'll one house.
- 42:57Speaker 14: We all live in the same house. So I said
- 43:02Speaker 14: to you my brothers and sisters. We cannot give up.
- 43:08Speaker 14: We cannot give out, We cannot give in. We must
- 43:14Speaker 14: get out there and push and pull. Now, I a
- 43:18Speaker 14: few short years ago, almost forty eight years ago, well
- 43:22Speaker 14: forty years ago, almost fifty years ago, I gave a
- 43:27Speaker 14: little blood on that bridge instell my Alabama for the
- 43:30Speaker 14: right to vote.
- 43:32Speaker 3: I am not gonna stand.
- 43:34Speaker 14: By and let the Supreme Court take the right.
- 43:37Speaker 3: To vote away from us.
- 43:42Speaker 14: You cannot stand by, you cannot sit down. You got
- 43:47Speaker 14: to stand up, speak up, speak out, and get in
- 43:53Speaker 14: a way, make some noise. The vote is precious, it
- 44:03Speaker 14: is almost sacred. It is the most powerful, non violent
- 44:08Speaker 14: tool we have in a democratic society, and we got
- 44:12Speaker 14: to use it. Back in nineteen sixty three. We hadn't
- 44:18Speaker 14: heard of the internet. We didn't have to sell your telephone,
- 44:22Speaker 14: iPad our part. But we used what we had to
- 44:26Speaker 14: bring about a non violent revolution. And I said to
- 44:30Speaker 14: all of the young people, you must get out there
- 44:33Speaker 14: and push and pull and make America what America should
- 44:38Speaker 14: be for all of us. We must set to the
- 44:43Speaker 14: Congress fix the voting right site. We must set to
- 44:49Speaker 14: the Congress pass comprehension immigration reform. It doesn't make sense
- 44:55Speaker 14: that million of our people are living in the shadow.
- 45:00Speaker 14: Bring them out into the light and set them on
- 45:03Speaker 14: a path to citizenship.
- 45:05Speaker 1: So hang in there, keep the faith.
- 45:09Speaker 14: I got arrested forty times during the sixth disc beat
- 45:14Speaker 14: the left bloody and unconscious.
- 45:16Speaker 1: But I'm not tied.
- 45:18Speaker 3: I'm not weary.
- 45:19Speaker 14: I'm not prepared to sit down and give up and
- 45:23Speaker 14: read at a fight and continue to fight.
- 45:26Speaker 3: And you must fight, thank you very much.
- 45:30Speaker 6: I have a dream that this great country of America
- 45:33Speaker 6: continues to be the country of opportunity, the greatest country
- 45:37Speaker 6: in all the world, that all people will live up
- 45:40Speaker 6: to His creed and have a life of prosperity and
- 45:43Speaker 6: enjoyment and happiness that's entitled to all of us as
- 45:46Speaker 6: Americans and citizens of this great country. That's what I
- 45:50Speaker 6: dream about, and I shore hope it comes true.
- 45:53Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 45:56Speaker 10: Happy MLKJ, Today's MLKJ and Inauguration Day.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, just go and get it on.
- 46:07Speaker 6: Put him in. That's what y'all want it? Five million
- 46:11Speaker 6: wolds all that cool? Yeah, it's all a crack enow.
- 46:15Speaker 6: I respect the Officer of the Presidency, you know, I
- 46:18Speaker 6: respect him as the new president.
- 46:20Speaker 2: And it is what it is. Let's see what he do.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I know one thing I ain't expected a damn thing.
- 46:30Speaker 10: Well, you know, now, more than ever, we should make
- 46:33Speaker 10: it a purpose to live out Doctor King's legacy. President
- 46:36Speaker 10: Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris administration, Uh, they were
- 46:40Speaker 10: dedicated to democracy and freedom. However, today President elect Trump
- 46:45Speaker 10: will take the presidential oath of office during inauguration day ceremonies,
- 46:49Speaker 10: which traditionally includes a procession to the capital by the
- 46:54Speaker 10: outgoing and incoming administrations. Remember, President elect Donald Trump is
- 46:59Speaker 10: preparing for one hundred executive orders starting on day one
- 47:03Speaker 10: in the new White House, including.
- 47:04Speaker 12: Border security, deportations.
- 47:07Speaker 10: Canada and China with import tariffs, and pardoning January sixth
- 47:11Speaker 10: rioters and rolling back many of the Biden administration executive
- 47:15Speaker 10: orders while putting his own proposals in place.
- 47:19Speaker 12: All right, remember Projects twenty twenty five.
- 47:21Speaker 2: So here you know what that means?
- 47:23Speaker 3: What?
- 47:23Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead, I'm sorry, go ahead.
- 47:25Speaker 12: Here's a question.
- 47:27Speaker 10: Yeah, how do you guys feel about Trump and his
- 47:29Speaker 10: Vice President elect JD.
- 47:31Speaker 12: Vance? I mean you still feel.
- 47:32Speaker 6: I'm glad you asked. Now, are everybody that voted for Trump.
- 47:37Speaker 6: Now you're gonna see what you're gonna get. You're about
- 47:40Speaker 6: to learn that it has never was about you. It
- 47:46Speaker 6: was never about his voting block. And you are going
- 47:50Speaker 6: to find out you put these terroifts on China. Do
- 47:53Speaker 6: you know how much stuff in the cost? Now you
- 47:56Speaker 6: think the cost of living is high, Now watch what's
- 47:58Speaker 6: gonna happen to you. It's gonna be good for business,
- 48:02Speaker 6: but it ain't gonna be good for you.
- 48:03Speaker 2: For the.
- 48:05Speaker 6: Grocery store, prices never go back, they just don't. And
- 48:10Speaker 6: so now you can expect that. Y'all can stop expecting
- 48:14Speaker 6: your life to get better under Trump, because it's not.
- 48:20Speaker 6: Rich are going It's gonna be great again for rich people.
- 48:25Speaker 6: Rich people are going to benefit. I'm telling you right
- 48:28Speaker 6: now I'm hearing some of the stuff that he's gonna do,
- 48:31Speaker 6: and as an unfolds, i'll share with you. But when
- 48:34Speaker 6: I get the news, I'm gonna give you the news
- 48:36Speaker 6: so you can understand what's really going on.
- 48:39Speaker 2: It's just it's gonna be shocked.
- 48:42Speaker 6: It's going to be shocking for his voting block when
- 48:46Speaker 6: they find out he really Okay, I got that part,
- 48:51Speaker 6: but what about the pole people that voted for him.
- 48:54Speaker 6: But that's who I'm talking about. That, that's who I'm
- 48:57Speaker 6: talking about right there, all them Trump I'm Trumps, my guy.
- 49:01Speaker 6: I'm all right cool, right? What they gonna get?
- 49:04Speaker 2: No breaks?
- 49:07Speaker 6: Yeah, he gonna get free. He gonna fix anybody in
- 49:10Speaker 6: the d o J that was against him bringing charges.
- 49:13Speaker 6: They gonna be out of work. Oh yeah, yeah, he
- 49:16Speaker 6: gonna pardon himself. He free, he's off the hook.
- 49:22Speaker 2: So so what do we get then?
- 49:24Speaker 5: Huh?
- 49:24Speaker 2: We we both to get. Not what did he tell
- 49:28Speaker 2: you you was gonna here? He was down there in
- 49:32Speaker 2: Chicago and put his foot in his mouth. You don't
- 49:34Speaker 2: remember that, he ain't think so.
- 49:37Speaker 7: Just so we just get the golf of America. That's
- 49:39Speaker 7: all we get.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And I don't know why that's bothering?
- 49:42Speaker 3: Why?
- 49:43Speaker 1: Why is that the top of.
- 49:46Speaker 2: America?
- 49:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 49:47Speaker 1: Why is that?
- 49:48Speaker 6: I'd have been down there. I ain't trying to call
- 49:50Speaker 6: nobody out, but I'd have been to Biloxi, Corpus Christian
- 49:53Speaker 6: and all I've seen that little money at Walter. I'm
- 49:56Speaker 6: not even getting in it. He ain't got to call
- 49:57Speaker 6: that the golf man. He can keep it the golf
- 49:59Speaker 6: from Mexico.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Why is that anything I don't even know why that.
- 50:04Speaker 1: You just say anything again. Then he wants to buy Canada, I.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Do listen?
- 50:17Speaker 1: Is too much? Well it's Canada now, President, he's just shopping.
- 50:25Speaker 2: He just shopping.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Gonna go along with it.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Well, I'll get you.
- 50:30Speaker 13: Fitted out right now, can't I get you fitted out right?
- 50:34Speaker 13: Come on, you fitted out right now?
- 50:38Speaker 2: Canada?
- 50:38Speaker 8: Come on?
- 50:39Speaker 2: Are we watching the inauguration? Are we doing that? No,
- 50:45Speaker 2: that's don't be on every channel.
- 50:46Speaker 1: So yeah, and I think they're gonna swear him in
- 50:51Speaker 1: around what news.
- 50:54Speaker 2: It ain't gonna be on b T your own I'll
- 50:56Speaker 2: tell you.
- 50:57Speaker 14: That, right.
- 51:01Speaker 1: But like said, he's a president.
- 51:04Speaker 10: Bounce, respect the office the president, fire of the presidency.
- 51:08Speaker 12: And that's the you know, Happy MLK Day. We know
- 51:11Speaker 12: what MLK meant to us. This is his birthday. We're
- 51:15Speaker 12: celebrating that.
- 51:16Speaker 10: Not just a day off, it's a day on if
- 51:19Speaker 10: you can do some community service, do something.
- 51:21Speaker 12: Today, you know, that's what today is all about. MLK Day.
- 51:25Speaker 4: Absolutely, it won't be on I'll tell you that you're
- 51:31Speaker 4: going through the channel. It won't be televised. But like
- 51:36Speaker 4: I'm saying, surely it's a day on service.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, a day of service.
- 51:42Speaker 4: And I think this year, all of the natural disasters,
- 51:45Speaker 4: the fires, you know, all of these things, you all
- 51:48Speaker 4: can volunteer and help your community.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I mean, you still need to help people in LA.
- 51:53Speaker 4: So you got to take a look around, roll your
- 51:55Speaker 4: sleeves up, and despite what's going on, you to help something.
- 52:01Speaker 1: You've got to remember, right, his legacy, King's legacy.
- 52:05Speaker 12: To that, what he meant to us, you know when
- 52:07Speaker 12: he worked so hard for, you know what he marched for.
- 52:11Speaker 12: You know what those boycotts were all about, all of that.
- 52:14Speaker 4: So do you feel like, do you guys feel like
- 52:19Speaker 4: today we know what's getting ready to happen at the inauguration,
- 52:23Speaker 4: like Steve said, is on every channel.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Do you all feel like it's we're kind of going
- 52:28Speaker 1: backwards a little bit?
- 52:29Speaker 2: We've gone.
- 52:30Speaker 6: He told me he was gonna make America great again,
- 52:33Speaker 6: make America great again for who.
- 52:36Speaker 2: He's doing what he said he's gonna do.
- 52:40Speaker 6: I'm not listen, I'm not banking on nothing working out here.
- 52:46Speaker 6: He said nothing in his campaign that would make me
- 52:49Speaker 6: think it's gonna be better for my people. And and
- 52:53Speaker 6: y'all didn't did They didn't see it? So now all y'all,
- 52:57Speaker 6: if that was some blacks for Trump.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Okay, here you go.
- 53:02Speaker 1: And there were Yeah, here you go.
- 53:04Speaker 6: It ain't no problem Trump my man, Okay, cool, cool,
- 53:08Speaker 6: you're finish, find out how your man feel about you.
- 53:10Speaker 6: You're not finna get a damn thing because he ain't
- 53:12Speaker 6: got to set itself up a reelection. He's really going
- 53:16Speaker 6: to do just what he want to do. He's gonna
- 53:19Speaker 6: fix it for himself and for when he leave office.
- 53:25Speaker 6: That's what he's fixing it up for. He's not gonna
- 53:28Speaker 6: make America to be in a better position when he leaves.
- 53:32Speaker 3: No man.
- 53:33Speaker 6: And what you're about to see next is the next
- 53:36Speaker 6: presidential candidate from the Republican Party will be a mirror
- 53:40Speaker 6: of Donald Trump because he has hijacked the party and
- 53:44Speaker 6: he has now made it the way that the politics
- 53:46Speaker 6: is done. Lies, fake news is forever now. Fake news
- 53:50Speaker 6: is forever of going against election. That's forever now.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Everybody on use if the results aren't the way you.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Everybody this game on now.
- 54:04Speaker 6: He has made a new blueprint for how to do
- 54:07Speaker 6: politics in the Republican Party. And the Democratic Party is
- 54:11Speaker 6: in trouble because we always reacting to them.
- 54:14Speaker 2: We don't know how to play the game.
- 54:16Speaker 6: I'm so ashamed of calling myself a damn Democrat that
- 54:20Speaker 6: I'm not calling myself a Democrat.
- 54:22Speaker 2: No, damn more. I'm a voter, That's all I am.
- 54:25Speaker 3: You're a voter.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just a voter.
- 54:27Speaker 6: Because y'all not Finnah, I'm not finishing of being Look
- 54:29Speaker 6: with y'all weak ass policies and all this here, and y'all, y'all,
- 54:33Speaker 6: y'all ain't you ain't standing for nothing.
- 54:35Speaker 2: And then the Republican Party really ain't standing for nothing.
- 54:38Speaker 6: They stand on that moral conviction and stuff which got
- 54:41Speaker 6: people twisted, but they use the morality clause to really
- 54:45Speaker 6: do the money power move, which is what they're trying
- 54:47Speaker 6: to do. They don't care nothing about that other stuff
- 54:51Speaker 6: y'all talking about making that issue.
- 54:54Speaker 2: I'm just I'm sorry. I'm just ready. What is Tim
- 54:56Speaker 2: Scott finn to do for the next four years? I
- 54:59Speaker 2: don't know, is he is?
- 55:01Speaker 4: He?
- 55:01Speaker 2: Huh?
- 55:02Speaker 3: All right?
- 55:05Speaker 10: The coming up to the top of the hour, we'll

- 55:50Speaker 6: Once Said the life's most persistent and urgent question is
- 55:54Speaker 6: what are you doing for others?
- 55:56Speaker 2: Coming up? We got some excerpts from doctor King's I've
- 55:58Speaker 2: been to the mountaintop. Speed.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness in
- 56:06Speaker 3: these powerful days. These days are challenge to make America
- 56:15Speaker 3: what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to
- 56:19Speaker 3: make America a better nation. And I want to thank
- 56:23Speaker 3: God once more for allowing me to be here with you.
- 56:29Speaker 3: You know, several years ago, I was in New York
- 56:31Speaker 3: City autographing the first book that I had written. While
- 56:37Speaker 3: sitting the autographing books, the minute black woman came up.
- 56:43Speaker 3: The only question I heard from her was you Martin
- 56:48Speaker 3: Luther King, and I was looking down writing and I
- 56:50Speaker 3: said yes. The next minute I felt something beating on
- 56:54Speaker 3: my chest. Before I knew it, I had been stabbed
- 56:57Speaker 3: by this deminted woman. I was rushed to Hulem Hospital.
- 57:02Speaker 3: It was a dog Saturday afternoon. That blade had gone through,
- 57:08Speaker 3: and the X rays revealed that the tip of the
- 57:11Speaker 3: blade was on the edge of my order the main
- 57:15Speaker 3: ottery and one that's puncture. You drowned in your own blood.
- 57:19Speaker 3: That's the end of you. It came out in the
- 57:23Speaker 3: New York Times the next morning that if I had
- 57:25Speaker 3: merely sneezed, I would have died. Well. About four days later,
- 57:30Speaker 3: they allowed me after the operation, after my chest had
- 57:34Speaker 3: been opening, the blade had been taken out, to move
- 57:38Speaker 3: around in the wheelchair the hospital. They allowed me to
- 57:41Speaker 3: read some of the mail that came in, and from
- 57:43Speaker 3: all over the states and the world. Kind letters came in.
- 57:48Speaker 3: I read a few, but one of them I will
- 57:52Speaker 3: never forget. I had received one from the President and
- 57:55Speaker 3: the Vice President. I've forgotten what those telegrams said. I
- 58:00Speaker 3: received the visit and a letter from the Governor of
- 58:02Speaker 3: New York, but I've forgotten what that letter say it
- 58:06Speaker 3: But there was another letter. It came from a little girl,
- 58:11Speaker 3: a young girl who was a student at the White
- 58:15Speaker 3: Planes High School. And I looked at that letter and
- 58:17Speaker 3: I'll never forget it. Say it simply, dear Doctor King,
- 58:22Speaker 3: I am a ninth grade student at the White Planes
- 58:26Speaker 3: High School. She said. While it should not matter, I
- 58:30Speaker 3: would like to mention that I'm.
- 58:32Speaker 1: A white girl.
- 58:33Speaker 9: I read in the paper of your misfortune and of
- 58:39Speaker 9: your suffering, and I read that if you had sneezed,
- 58:42Speaker 9: you would have died. I'm simply writing you to say
- 58:46Speaker 9: that I'm so happy that you.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Didn't sneeze, and I want to say the night. I
- 58:53Speaker 3: want to say the night that I too, am happy
- 58:55Speaker 3: that I didn't sneeze, because if I had sneezed, I
- 58:58Speaker 3: wouldn't have been around here. Nineteen sixty when students all
- 59:03Speaker 3: over the South started sitting in at lunch counties, and
- 59:07Speaker 3: I knew that as a was sitting in, they were
- 59:09Speaker 3: really standing up for the best in the American dream
- 59:13Speaker 3: and taking the whole nation back to those great wells
- 59:16Speaker 3: of democracy which were dug deep by the founding fathers
- 59:19Speaker 3: in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. If I
- 59:23Speaker 3: had sneezed, I wouldn't have been around here in nineteen
- 59:26Speaker 3: sixty one when we decided to take a ride for
- 59:30Speaker 3: freedom an ended segregation in interstate travel. If I had sneezed,
- 59:37Speaker 3: I wouldn't have been around here in nineteen sixty two
- 59:41Speaker 3: when Negroes and all been at Georgia decided to straighten.
- 59:45Speaker 1: That box up.
- 59:46Speaker 3: And when other men and women straighten that box up,
- 59:49Speaker 3: they are going somewhere, because a man can't roger.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Back unless it is bent.
- 59:54Speaker 3: If I had sneezed, I had sneezed, I wouldn't have
- 59:58Speaker 3: been here in nineteen sixty three, the black people of Birmingham,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Alabama aroused the conscience of this nation and brought into
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: being the Civil Rights Bill. If I had sneeze, I
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: wouldn't have had a chance later that year, in August
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: to try to tell America about a dream that I
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: had had. If I had sneeze, I wouldn't have been
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: down in Selma, Alabama to see the great movement there.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: If I had sneeze, I wouldn't have been in Memphis
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: to see a community run around those brothers and sisters
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: who are suffering. I'm so happy that I didn't sneez,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: and they were telling them, now, it doesn't matter now,
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: it really doesn't matter what happens now. I left Atlanta
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: this morning and as we got started on the plane
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: that was six of us, the pilot said over the
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: public address system, we're sorref for the delay, but we
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: have Dr Martin Luther King on the plane and to
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: be sure that all of the bags were checked and
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: to be sure that nothing would be wrong on the plane.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: We had to check out everything carefully, and.
- 1:01:21Speaker 9: We've had the plane protected and guard it all night.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Then I got into Memphis and some began to say
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: the threats I talk about the threats that were out
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: of what would happen to me from some of our
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: sick white brothers. Well, I don't know what will happen now.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: We've got some difficult days ahead, but it really doesn't
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: matter with me now because I've been to the mountaintop.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: I don't know, like anybody, I would like to live
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: a long life, long kevity has its place, but I'm
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Will, and He's allowed me.
- 1:02:12Speaker 12: To go up to the mountain, and I've looked over.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: And I've seen.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: The Promised Land. I may not get that with you,
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: but I want you to know the night that we
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: as a people will get to the Promised Land.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: So I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: not feeling in a man.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Myne eyes have seen the glory on the coming of
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: the Lord.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: You're listening hardy morning shows?

- 1:03:19Speaker 6: Coming up, we're going to play some excerpts from doctor
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: King's I Have a Dream speech.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: I am happy to john with you today in what
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: we'll go down in history as the greatest demonstration for
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: freedom in the history.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Of our nation.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Five score years ago, a great American in whose symbolic
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: decree came as a great beacon light of hope to
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: to end the long night of their captivity. But one
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: hundred years later, the Negro steal is not free.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: One hundred years.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination.
- 1:04:43Speaker 9: One hundred years.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: Later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: One hundred years later, the negro is still languished in
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: the corners of American society and finds himself in exile.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: In his own land.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: So we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: In a sense, we've come to our nation's capital to
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: catch a check. When the architects of our Republic wrote
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence,
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: they were signing a promise or a note to whichever
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: American was to fall out. This note was a promise
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: in all men, yes, black men as well as white men,
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: the pursuit of happiness. It is obvious today that America
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: has defaulted on this promisory note in so far as
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: a check which has come back to mark insufficient funds.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: But we refuse to believe that.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: The bank of justice is bakra. Refuse to believe that
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: that are insufficient funds in the great faults of opportunity
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: of this nation. So we've come to cash this check,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: a check that will give us the pun demand, the
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: also come to this hallid spot to remind America of
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: the fierce urgency of now.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: This is no time.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: To engage in the luxury of cooling off or to
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: time the rise from the dark and desolate valley of
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: Now is the time.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: From the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: rock of brotherhood. Now is the time, the reality for
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: all of God's till it would be fatal for the
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: summit of the negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: that is an invigorating ultumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: sixty three is not an end, but a beginning.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Those who hope that the Negro needed.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: To blow off steam and will now be content will
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: have a rude awakening. If the nation returns to business
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: as usual, there will be neither rest nor tranquility in
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: America until the Negro has granted his citizenship rights. The
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: whirlwinds are revolt will continue to shake the foundations of
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: But that is something that I.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Must say to my people who stand on the warm
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: guilty or wrong for deeds. Let us not seek to
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: satisfy our first for freedom by drinking from the cup
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: of bitterness and hatred.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: Did you know you could now buy a Hondai on Amazon,
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: the same place where you order yoga mats, a toothbrush,
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: and pretty much everything else, all from the comfort of
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: your home, just located nearby dealer. Pick your color, your options,
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: check the price, and with it's a few dotting of
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: some eyes and crosses some tea's walla, your Hondai is
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: ready for pickup.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: It's that easy.
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: Visit Honda USA dot com for more details. Limited availability
- 1:10:11Speaker 8: pickup through participating Hondai dealers and select markets.
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: Right now, I asked, promise, we're gonna play some of
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: doctor King's I have a Dream speech, which he delivered
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial back in nineteen
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: sixty three.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: One day, right now in Alabama, little black bars and
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: black girls, we'll be able to join hands with little
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: white bars and white girls as sisters and brothers.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I have a dream today.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: I have a dream that one day every valance shall
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: be exulted, Every hill and mountain shall be made low,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: the rough places will be made faint, and the crooked
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: places will be made straight, and the core of the
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: love shall be revealed in all flesh shall see it together.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: This is our hope.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: This is the peace that I go back to the
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: South with. With this faith, we will be able to
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: With this faith, we will be able to transform the
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: With this faith, we will be able to work together,
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together,
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: to stand up for freedom together, knowing that.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: We will be free.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: One day.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: We day, This will be the day.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: When all the gods child, we will be able to
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: sing with new meaning. My country tears the we land
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: of liberty of bi sing Land, where my father's died,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Land of the Pilgrims. Frye from every mountain side.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Let freedom ring in.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: For America's to be a great nation, this must become true.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Let freedom ring from the heightening allegators of Pennsylvania. Might
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: let freedom ring from the snow cap arcis of Colorado.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Let freedom ring from the curbation of slopes of California.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: But not only that. Let freedom ring from stone mountain
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: of Georgia. Let freedom ring from lookout mountain of Tennessee.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: That freedom ring from every hill and mole hill of Mississippi,
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: from every mountainside.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: Then freedom ring.
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: And when that happens, when we allow freedom ring, when
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: rented a ring from every village and every hamlet, from
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: average state and every city, we will be able to
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: speed up that day.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: We're all about children, black men and white men, Jews
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: and tent Poles, Protestants and Catholic we'll be able to
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: join hands and sing in the words of the old
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Negro spiritual pre ad last were free ad last, Thank
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: quo minter.
- 1:13:24Speaker 10: Real, you'll be back. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
- 1:13:28Speaker 10: Morning Show. Today's MLK Day. It is a day of service.
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: Reverend doctor Martin Luther King Junior devoted his life to
- 1:13:36Speaker 10: service and fighting for civil rights and freedom. Doctor King
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: had a pursuit for racial, social and economic justice.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: And Steve, I gotta ask you this question.
- 1:13:48Speaker 10: You know you talk about this a lot, you talked
- 1:13:50Speaker 10: about it earlier this morning. You've been through a lot
- 1:13:52Speaker 10: growing up, So how have you learned to deal with racism?
- 1:13:57Speaker 10: How how have you dealt with it?
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: I mean, look, I mean pretty much like most people.
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: I mean, I'm angry about it. I don't understand what's
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: taking so long. It doesn't make any sense to me.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: It's actually pathetic. Why is it that people of color
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: are still asking for equality, which seems like we're asking
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: it from from somebody that's not willing to give it.
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: I mean, it's just obviously that there are people who
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: are set in their ways, and it's frustrating. Now we
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: Even with that said, I have devoted myself to being
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: the best person that I can be, to elevate myself
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: as high as I can, but not only elevate myself,
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: stick my hand back down the wall and bring up
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: as many people as I can, thus my foundation, thus
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: my ranch, thus me trying to promote young people, thus
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: helping people. I'm constantly looking for ways to uplift the
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: the the oppressed, the downtrodden people, and and that carries
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: over into all people too.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: And that's what's been crazy about it.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: I'm willing to help allop.
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: Now, do I have a special affinity and do I
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: target mostly U people of color?
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I do that.
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: And I was talking to one guy one day and
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: he said, well, how can you just target them? I said,
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: well that's where I see the most need. I see
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: the most need in people of color and oppressed people.
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: So I'm targeting my efforts. I said, you know, look,
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: it's all types of people come to the camp. Anybody
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: can come to the camp. And Asians are oppressed, they
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: walcome at the camp. All Latinos come to my camp.
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: They I got white kids come to the camp.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: You know, I got all of them diversity.
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: But you know, do you can't get mad at me
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: because I know where the greater need is and I
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: can see it more obviously, and it's my obligation because
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: if the government not gonna do it, well, let's just
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: look at this right here. For example, let's just look
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: at the education disparity in this country. Why do we
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: have an educational disparity? Because the money on the federal
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: level that we pay in taxes, and we pay state taxes,
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: local taxes, it all goes into a fund. Now, the
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: areas that pay the most funds into the state taxes
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: or the federal taxes are the places that receive the
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: most money back. Poor places are not gonna have as
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: big a pool to pick from, so poor places stay
- 1:16:43Speaker 6: behind the eight ball.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: It's the system they set up. See, they set that
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: system up, not me.
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: So what should be happening is we should as a
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: country make sure that all people have access to a
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: quality education, free education. N That ain't the American way.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: That ain't the American way. But that's why we're losing
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: education wise on the global level because other countries they don't.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: They don't do it that way.
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: We should all be able to we make enough money
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: in this country where everybody should get free medical there's
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: a business we don't get that. Yeah, so you know, right,
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: but this is the system they set up. And the
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: system is not set up and targeted for the underprivileged or.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: The oppressed or the less fortunate. That's right.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: So it's not set up that way.
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: So my obligation and my foundation is for the less fortunate,
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: the oppressed, the down try and I go out of
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: my way to see that that happens.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: But you know, we're gonna win. It's just sad that
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: it's taken so damn long, and it pisses you off.
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: And I would say this to anybody who is not
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: of color. Howl would you like to wait to be
- 1:18:03Speaker 6: treated equal.
- 1:18:05Speaker 10: That's right, are And we'll have more of a Steve
- 1:18:07Speaker 10: Harvey Morning Show as we celebrate the life and legacy
- 1:18:09Speaker 10: of doctor Martin Luther King Jr.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Right after this. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:18:17Speaker 10: Haby, Mlkday everyone, And according to mL dot com, Yeah, Temmy,
- 1:18:23Speaker 10: more and more people are using this holiday as an
- 1:18:26Speaker 10: opportunity to be of service to others or to attend
- 1:18:30Speaker 10: programs or events honoring doctor King. So what better way
- 1:18:34Speaker 10: to celebrate the life.
- 1:18:35Speaker 12: Of this American hero.
- 1:18:36Speaker 10: And if you have children, start a family tradition of
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: helping others.
- 1:18:41Speaker 12: Please continue to donate and volunteer and.
- 1:18:44Speaker 10: Help those misplaced and affected by the wildfires going on
- 1:18:47Speaker 10: in LA. You can still help. Go to the Dreamcenter
- 1:18:52Speaker 10: dot org. That's the Dreamcenter dot org. We just want
- 1:18:56Speaker 10: to remind you to plan to make a difference today.
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: It's a day on, not a day off. That's how
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: we celebrate MLK Day. It is a service day, a
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: day of service.
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, And I think we all on this show.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: We make service all year round. We just don't pick
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: you know, MLK Day, Tommy, Wounded Veterans, wounded Warriors, Junior
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: sick of seale, you know my self, breast cancel awareness,
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: Shirley talks about domestic violence.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Steve with mentoring programs.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: So this is a this is something that we do,
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: that's we're passionate about and we keep it going all
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: the time. So that's what we need to do. That's
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: what we need to think about. Unity and making a difference,
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: doing something because.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I don't know, an honor, an honor of.
- 1:19:46Speaker 12: Doctor King of this dam holiday for sure, because he
- 1:19:49Speaker 12: did so much for us.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: He really did.
- 1:19:52Speaker 10: All right, guys, coming up, we'll have more of the
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: Steve Harvey Morning Show on this MLK day.

- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Yes, as we all know birth Yes, he.
- 1:20:47Speaker 12: Is amen to that. We all know that birthdays aren't
- 1:20:50Speaker 12: just a celebration of another year passing. There's also a time.
- 1:20:53Speaker 10: To reflect on the past, cherish the present, and look
- 1:20:57Speaker 10: forward to the future. Of course, it's a time to say,
- 1:21:00Speaker 10: celebrate the person you've become and the journey you're on.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: So Steve, tell us about your celebration. How is this year? Uh,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: You're filled with endless possibilities? How Yeah, I.
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: Don't really discuss my birthday things because haters is out
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: there listening. So just you know that I woke up
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: feel with gratitude for another thing and you know, but
- 1:21:24Speaker 6: but to be honest with you know, my birthdays and
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: Christmas is they not feel with gifts and stuff like that.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: That's not what it is for me anymore I have,
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: you know.

- 1:24:59Speaker 6: to two thousand five, full blast.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: It's a little rocking, rocking boosts, just going.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Commit it, yeah, man.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: And then Bishop called you and you too, and you know,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: and he called me.
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: And asked me, and I told him. I said, now
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: let me think about it. And then I told him
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: finally about the third costly picture. I said, I can't
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: do it, man, I said, proud you're asking me that.
- 1:25:24Speaker 6: That's a whole hour the church people ain't going did
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: deal with me, He said, Hey, man, I know you,
- 1:25:32Speaker 6: he said.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: But better than that, God know your heart. He said,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: you good brother man, you could do it. Come on,
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: do this all right, man, I do it good. I'mna
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: put you down and put you.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: On the where I good and you committed.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: He was done with it.
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: He didn't know what he had threw me into. Because
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: let me tell you something, man, I had to go right,
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: don't trip. He ain't through me yet. There's a whole
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: special I wrote. I had to go write that special.
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: There wasn't jokes. I was doing one on the road.
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: N I had to write that special. I had to
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: go write that. I had to go put this church
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: stuff together. It was probably the easiest hardest set I've
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: ever written because I grew up in the church, so
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: I knew a lot of church stuff.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: I did not think that the church.
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: Folks was gonna accept it because I was gonna have
- 1:26:23Speaker 6: to talk about it. I was gonna have to talk
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: about the people that they let read announcements. You know,
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: the first thing about read announcements. Reading is fundamental. You
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: can't put the ignorant people shouldn't be reading.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Announcements at the church.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: I just it's just a lot of stuff I knew
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: calling the past about every little thing I just I said.
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: And then stuff that I knew, how the choir saying,
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: who in the choir?
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: Stuff you can't do no more?
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Right right?
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: I do jokes, I'm being in trouble.
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: That's so true, Steve, because my grandmother when she saw
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: that special, she said, how he know all this is
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: true talking about the church all of that because I.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Knew church because I grew up in it. What he
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: was gonna ask me?
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: I was like, like, you know, like for us comedians,
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: you know, you don't know where the dig gonna come from.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: But do you remember the money segment?
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: Do you remember the moment when you came up with
- 1:27:25Speaker 7: that intrant for Christ?
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Do you know you was at the time and I
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: was at I was at the Grand Looks restaurant.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I was there too.
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: I remember the Emily Center because.
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: I used to go from the radio show to the
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: Grand Looks and sit there all day, sometimes three meals there.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: We played Domino's.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: All day though, all day. That's why they shut it
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: down to you know, I had a lot going.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: On back then, so we knew every.
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: And you know, like and I would just sit there
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: and so one day man Boom was there and Boom dog,
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: you had a hell of career.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Man, what you like the most? I said, Man, I
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: introduced everybody.

- 1:28:25Speaker 2: I say. The only person I ain't never introduced was Jesus.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: I said, if I could just introduce Jesus, that a
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: captain for me. They said, man, what would you say?
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: And that was the business?
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: If I had the pleasure of bringing out Christ.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: This is just how I would do it.
- 1:28:45Speaker 15: It ain't got to be the way you do it.
- 1:28:48Speaker 15: You might not think it's just right, but this is
- 1:28:51Speaker 15: how I would do it. Ladies and gentlemen, it is
- 1:28:57Speaker 15: my honor.
- 1:29:00Speaker 16: Introduce a man who needs no introduction.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: His credits are.
