- 0:00This is the Kirkland signature cheese pizza.
- 0:02They're taking those rock hard pits that they're using as waste
- 0:05products and then they're mushing them up with all these
- 0:07chemicals and making seed oils. Why is sucralose as an example
- 0:09problematic? It triggers your brain into
- 0:11thinking like you're getting all these great nutrients and then
- 0:13when it gets down to your stomach, you really don't have
- 0:15anything but sugar and carbs. That's yoga mat material.
- 0:18They literally put it in bread. Hey guys.
- 0:22Welcome back to the Lila Rose Show.
- 0:24We're going to be sitting down again with Doctor Anthony J, who
- 0:27is a scientist, a geneticist, A researcher, and author for Part
- 0:312 of this fascinating investigation into America's
- 0:34food industry. We're going to be focusing on
- 0:37the products in your grocery store and talking about, through
- 0:41a virtual walk through the grocery store, products that you
- 0:43should be aware of and products that are maybe not so bad after
- 0:46all. I hope you enjoy.
- 0:48I know you keep coming back to processed foods.
- 0:51We'll just avoid processed foods because that's where all the
- 0:53crazy stuff gets just thrown in there in the pile.
- 0:55So let's let's maybe go there. And then I want to talk about
- 0:58some of these specific ingredients and processed foods
- 1:00that are so detrimental. Let's start with something that
- 1:04seems maybe a little more innocent.
- 1:06So I don't know if people will say this is innocent, but you're
- 1:10in the frozen food section of the grocery store.
- 1:12And let's start with something as simple as the frozen fruit or
- 1:16the frozen whole veggies. Not.
- 1:18Processed super super fine. Yep.
- 1:22Preferably pick organic. Again, there's a genetic
- 1:25variance. Once in a while some people do
- 1:27poorly with too much sugar or whatever, but yeah.
- 1:29But generally speaking, very good.
- 1:30So all right, so that's covered. All right, let's keep moving
- 1:33down the aisle. Now we're going to get into the
- 1:35section of the frozen desserts and we're talking let's
- 1:39popsicles first. Now, I've noticed a lot of kids
- 1:42popsicles. I'm usually looking for like
- 1:43popsicles that just are made with fruit juice.
- 1:45That would be my ideal for my kids.
- 1:47It's very hard, hard to find those even with the ones that
- 1:49have organic slapped on them. They always are going to have
- 1:51added cane sugar. And then there's always these
- 1:54ingredients that often I don't know what it, what these things
- 1:56are, you know, and I have to research them.
- 1:58What, what about frozen? Let's just say popsicles.
- 2:01Anything to look out for for those for kids?
- 2:05My kids just don't have those so honestly I I stay away from
- 2:08them. I mean, my wife likes we
- 2:09homeschool, so would they like to make stuff like that with
- 2:12make your own popsicles and things?
- 2:13But the problem is you kind of have to become an expert on a
- 2:16lot of this because again, the government's not watching out
- 2:18for you. And so you have to become your
- 2:20own best advocate. And honestly, apple juice, for
- 2:24example, and orange juice has like 40 grams of sugar, carbs
- 2:29right in the form of sugar when you squeeze all these fruits and
- 2:33you distill it down to juice, whereas Coca-Cola has like 36
- 2:37grams of sugar, you know, like sometimes the juices are worse
- 2:40for you. But if they don't have that much
- 2:41sugar, if if it's if, if it's only got 10 grams of sugar, kids
- 2:44can handle that pretty well. If they're only having it once
- 2:47in a while, you know it's it's, there's some nuance with the
- 2:49sugar stuff. So here's I just want to unpack
- 2:51this for a minute Popsicles. I know we're like winter time.
- 2:54This would be better for summer time, but I think this is, you
- 2:56know, one of the things I wanted to make sure to discuss with you
- 2:58today. So this is a brand.
- 3:00It says here it's called outshine.
- 3:02It says real fruit juice. I think there's an organic
- 3:05version of it, but anyways it says no sugar added.
- 3:09So they use the fruits. To but look at the ingredient
- 3:11list to help me understand. So you have strawberry water.
- 3:15OK great now it says sorbital now it says maltodextrin, sugar,
- 3:19glycerin, polydextro, citric acid, exorbic acid, vitamin C,
- 3:23guar gum, sucralose, strawberry juice from concentrate carob
- 3:27bean gum, natural flavor, azulfame potassium, fake sugar
- 3:32beet juice colors. That makes me feel a little or
- 3:34maybe it's not red 40 or you know a dye turmeric ulcer in
- 3:39color tangerine, more sorbitol, polydextrous and then it has
- 3:43modified corn stair syrup. It has more maladextrans citric
- 3:50acid, gour gum, sucralose, Caribbean gum.
- 3:52I mean literally this ingredient list and and in my view it's
- 3:55like, OK, why can't we just get a pure juice and just freeze it
- 4:01and sell it to me conveniently pre frozen so I don't have to do
- 4:05that work myself. But tell me why?
- 4:07Tell me, are any of these problematic these ingredients?
- 4:10For sure. I mean, they've got sucralose
- 4:11and ace K, they ace sulfatane, potassium, is it called ace K?
- 4:17Why is sucralose as an example problematic?
- 4:19Well, you're spiking your insulin to some.
- 4:21You're you're just triggering, you're basically triggering
- 4:24sugar addiction, right? Like a lot of the what they're
- 4:27doing is they're adding sweeteners to sugar, you have
- 4:30sugar and then you're adding more.
- 4:31Sugar added. No, it's not sugar, it's fake
- 4:34sugar, right? OK, but like for example,
- 4:36sucralose triggers your, your taste buds like 100 times more
- 4:42than regular sugar. So you're hype.
- 4:44They're called hyperpalatability, right?
- 4:45Have you heard the term hyperpalatable?
- 4:48Like burritos and things? So a lot of times they, they,
- 4:50they hire food scientists and This is why these ingredient
- 4:53lists get so long to intentionally create
- 4:57hyperpalatability, meaning it hyperactivates your palate,
- 5:02right? In an unnatural way that you can
- 5:03never find something like that in nature.
- 5:06And so it triggers your brain into thinking like you're
- 5:07getting all these great nutrients, your brain gets all
- 5:10excited and then when it gets down to your stomach, you really
- 5:12don't have anything but sugar and carbs, right?
- 5:14Because look on the protein, I'll bet there's 0 gram.
- 5:16I mean 1g of protein or? 0 grams of protein means
- 5:19popsicle. And fats, 0 grams of fats,
- 5:21right? And then carbs.
- 5:22What's the carbs 35? 6 grams of carbs.
- 5:25Oh, that's yeah. And then the reason it's so low
- 5:27is because they're putting all these fake sugars in there.
- 5:29But the point is, I mean, so in other words, I'm a little bit
- 5:32more inclined to get this one than something that has 36 grams
- 5:36of carbs. So if I could pick the 36 grams
- 5:38of carbs, which is literally the orange juice that's been frozen,
- 5:41let's just say theoretically, right, or this, which has a
- 5:44really long ingredient list because it's using the fake
- 5:47sugars as opposed to the real sugars that have more carbs, you
- 5:51would pick this one. No, you'd pick neither.
- 5:56Well, depends on how active the kids are and stuff and how rare
- 5:59it is. If they're having it every day,
- 6:00I would say don't do popsicles every day.
- 6:02That is a lot of sugar for daily consumption.
- 6:04If you have it once a week, I would definitely choose the
- 6:07fruit juices because again, some of these studies are kind of
- 6:11questionable with sucralose and Ace K and also a lot of these
- 6:14other ingredients that we don't need to get into all the
- 6:16details, but it's better to air on the side of skepticism when
- 6:20it comes to these synthetic chemicals.
- 6:22That's my general philosophy. So that's how I think about it.
- 6:25OK, so let's keep moving to the ice cream now, so some of the
- 6:30I'll. Just tell you right off the bat,
- 6:32yes, if you have good dairy. I mean, if you have, if you, if
- 6:34you do poorly with milk, yes, Don't do ice cream.
- 6:38OK. It's just the way.
- 6:39It is or you can do rice dream. What about those like non dairy
- 6:42ice creams? Well, I would avoid soy, but
- 6:43sure, OK. And the other thing is I, I
- 6:45personally do very poorly with carrageenan.
- 6:48OK, carrageenan is very common in creams and I.
- 6:52Tell me more because there's some ice cream brands where they
- 6:54say literally there's only five ingredients.
- 6:56There's like milk, there's sugar, there's dairy.
- 6:59Here's an example. This is from Ben and Jerry's.
- 7:03And by the way, we don't we're not fans of Ben and Jerry's on
- 7:05this show. Not only are they overpriced and
- 7:07over hyped, in my view, they're also like their politics are
- 7:11abysmal and they're always pushing their politics and their
- 7:13customers. So that's the big reason.
- 7:15But let's look at this Ben and Jerry's.
- 7:18It says cream, liquid sugar. OK, no surprise, right?
- 7:21But then it goes in pressed soybean oil, soybean oil, it
- 7:26says egg white, salt, gargum, molasses, vanilla extract, cocoa
- 7:30butter. And then it says cardigan and
- 7:34then baking soda, soy Lechin and anato extract for color.
- 7:41Talk to me about those extra ingredients.
- 7:43If you see carrageenan in your ice cream, what would?
- 7:45You get it. I personally don't.
- 7:47I don't even do toothpaste with carrageenan.
- 7:49It makes my gums inflamed. And I tried removing fluoride.
- 7:53I tried removing SLS which is a detergent in toothpaste.
- 7:56None of that fixed my gingivitis gum issue for that I had growing
- 8:00up. And then I got rid of
- 8:01carrageenan and boom, my gums don't have inflammation.
- 8:05And I've researched it and once again, it's it's difficult
- 8:07because the guy that invented carrageenan, it's a, it's a
- 8:09seaweed extract. So they say, oh, it's OK, it's
- 8:11seaweed while they're isolating it from seaweed and it's kind of
- 8:14inflammatory. But again, when you go through
- 8:16the research. You eat a bunch of seaweed,
- 8:17necessarily. Yeah, like our bodies aren't
- 8:19adapted to hype, you know, like, basically purifying all this
- 8:23extra. Why do they put it in ice cream?
- 8:24To Thickener. To thicken it, OK.
- 8:26And they put in heavy cream sometimes too.
- 8:28So I just make absolutely certain I buy the products that
- 8:30don't have those. And you know, again, if you
- 8:33don't, if you can't read all the ingredients, just stick with
- 8:36meats, veggies and fruits, right?
- 8:38For sure you're going to be safe with that stuff with kids.
- 8:43Yeah, yeah, to some degree. What about?
- 8:46Root vegetables? Root vegetables?
- 8:47What? About let's keep moving down the
- 8:50aisle. OK, let's get to the more the
- 8:52processed food section. But I would even consider ice
- 8:54cream as kind of like an exception, Meaning like have it
- 8:56once in a while, sure, but don't have it all the time.
- 8:58But you can have root vegetables all the time.
- 8:59You can have ice. Cream once a week maybe?
- 9:01Sure, and make sure it doesn't depends on your genes.
- 9:03Maybe avoid carrageenan? Definitely, I recommend that.
- 9:06Yeah, OK. And how important is it for the
- 9:08milk to be organic? Not that, probably not that
- 9:13important in this case. All right, good to know.
- 9:15So now let's go into the processed food section and let's
- 9:18look at the frozen pizzas. Oh boy.
- 9:20Everylife.com is America's fastest growing baby diaper and
- 9:24wipes company. I love Everylife because this is

- 10:01subscription, and after three months, you can donate a full
- 10:04month's supply of diapers to a mom and a baby in need.
- 10:08I'll be honest, I do. We have frozen pizzas in my
- 10:10house. We haven't always and we won't
- 10:13necessarily always. Maybe after this episode I'll be
- 10:14throwing them away, but once every couple weeks, especially
- 10:18if it's like a date night or something.
- 10:20And I'm always also questioning like if I'm ordering A to go
- 10:23pizza, is that really healthier than the pizza that I get from
- 10:26the, you know, freezer at Costco?
- 10:29So let's look at the ingredients of the Costco cheese pizzas.
- 10:32OK, This is the Kirkland signature cheese pizza and it's
- 10:38not a bad pizza. It doesn't taste terrible.
- 10:41Here is this specific ingredient list and it doesn't look as bad.
- 10:44It says, I mean, this is again, cross food can be so great.
- 10:46Enriched wheat flour, not organic, so there's a problem
- 10:50there. But water, toasted bread crumbs,
- 10:52yeast, extra virgin olive oil, salt, sugars, barley flour,
- 10:55canola oil, toppings, part skin, mozzarella and then cheddar
- 10:59cheese, sauces, water, crushed tomatoes, extra virgin olive
- 11:02oil, sugar, salt, vinegar, garlic powder, black pepper,
- 11:04onion powder. I understand what every
- 11:06ingredient on this. Is it's a great place to start
- 11:09and. So is this a process in your
- 11:11view or how would you consider it?
- 11:13I consider process. I don't eat that but I do.
- 11:15But my wife makes pizza and and it's probably pretty similar
- 11:20ingredients except she uses sourdough and that kind of
- 11:22thing. But I don't have a huge problem
- 11:24with that. Again, once in a while, once a
- 11:25week, no big deal. The this is where it's so
- 11:28important that we get American grains and things cleaned up,
- 11:32because that could be super good.
- 11:33But now they're spraying glyphosate and atrazine and all
- 11:36these goofy chemicals on the wheat that's in there.
- 11:38But other than that it's really good.
- 11:41So if this was made with organic sourdough, it'd be super pretty
- 11:46great. OK, that I now feel a little
- 11:48better about feeding this to my kids, but I the dream would
- 11:51maybe be to make sourdough crust myself.
- 11:52Yeah, make it for them myself. OK, so let's keep moving.
- 11:55I. Have girls that are like teen,
- 11:56well one of them is a teenager and stuff so they make it right.
- 11:59See, you're in the golden years. Good for you.
- 12:01Let's think of a little older. OK, so let's keep moving down
- 12:04the aisle in the and then I want to get to like the cereal aisle
- 12:07and stuff. OK, Are we doing, are we good
- 12:08on? Are we doing good with this?
- 12:10OK, so we're still in the frozen food section, and now let's go
- 12:14to frozen chicken Nuggets. Yeah, the chicken part I'm not
- 12:19too worried about, but it's the breading, of course.
- 12:21OK, so let's pull up that ingredients.
- 12:23These are the now there's the really nasty like Dino Nuggets,
- 12:26which I I'm not even going to look at.
- 12:28I'm going to start with the healthier version, which is what
- 12:31I've gotten before, which they sell at Costco and it's
- 12:34something like this. It's called, this is also sold
- 12:37at other stores. Just bare, lightly breaded
- 12:40chicken breast bites. No antibiotics ever.
- 12:42Let's look at the ingredients boneless, skinless chicken
- 12:45breast, water, seasoning, sugar, salt, spices including paprika
- 12:48and celery seed. It does have canola oil and
- 12:51soybean oil, rice starch breaded with wheat flour, sugar, salt,
- 12:54non fat dried milk, dried egg whites, baking powder, spice,
- 12:57paprika, breading set and vegetable oil.
- 12:58It's. Pretty good, yeah.
- 13:00I mean, I'm pretty strict in my house with the seed oils, so if
- 13:04it's got seed oils I just don't do it.
- 13:06So what are the What are the worst seed oil culprits?
- 13:08All of them. I don't even do sesame.
- 13:10I don't even do sesame seed oil. I'm just if it's a seed oil,
- 13:14it's almost certainly not good for you.
- 13:17But olive oil? Is OK.
- 13:18Olives are fruits. Yeah.
- 13:19Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil.
- 13:21Butter is good. If you could do well with dairy,
- 13:23All of those lard is amazing. That's what our ancestors used.
- 13:25No problems. Right.
- 13:26Canola oils, Soybean oils? What are some others to be on
- 13:31the avocado oil? Sunflower seed oil if it's
- 13:34something oil. Is okay though.
- 13:35Avocados are fruits. Yeah, those are good.
- 13:37And by the way, there was a company came out with avocado
- 13:39seed oil and they're taking those rock hard pits that
- 13:43they're using as waste products from making guacamole and then
- 13:47they're mushing them up with all these chemicals and making seed
- 13:50oils. Of course that's going to be
- 13:51bad. I don't need to see the studies.
- 13:52I'm just going to assume that's bad, right?
- 13:54And I'm not going to argue with people about it.
- 13:55Me personally, I'm not going to have avocado seed oil, but the
- 13:58avocado oil is fine once in a while.
- 14:00It's OK to have a little bit of seed oils, right?
- 14:02So again, most people, I would say sure.
- 14:05Me personally, I'm a little extra picky and, and I don't
- 14:09need to use seed oils and my wife is lucky enough to stay at
- 14:15home and homeschool the kids and my kids are really good helpers.
- 14:17So again, there's there's a lot going on, right?
- 14:20All right, so we're going to keep going through and some of
- 14:22these are products that I have. I'm choosing them because I
- 14:26actually use them or have used them or they're products that I
- 14:29think need special attention that maybe I'm not using, but
- 14:32people I think should know about.
- 14:33All right, so next we're doing tighter tons.
- 14:35Cool. OK, so let's pull up our tater
- 14:39tots here. They don't sell tater tots at
- 14:42Costco. I know this because my husband
- 14:44and boys really like tater tots, and when I go there, I can't buy
- 14:47them at Costco for them. But occasionally if I'm at
- 14:50Trader Joe's, I'll get them or they do sell them at places like
- 14:53Albertson's or Safeway or whatever.
- 14:55So here's the kind of classic Aura Ida Golden tater Tot season
- 15:00bag. OK, we're going to pull up the
- 15:02ingredient list here. All right, here we go.
- 15:05Potatoes, vegetable oil blend, soybean and cotton seed, salt,
- 15:09yellow corn flour, dextrose, sodium acid phyrophosphate to
- 15:14retain natural color. Dehydrated onion Sodium acid
- 15:17sulfate, Natural flavor. Yeah, again with the the seed
- 15:22oils, right. This is such a problem in
- 15:23America. To try and find foods without
- 15:25seed oils, you almost have to buy the.
- 15:27Potato oil, right? I know other other than the seed
- 15:31oils it's OK and again I always get nervous about natural
- 15:34flavors but other than that it's fine.
- 15:36OK, all right, great. Let's keep moving.
- 15:38I think we're going to leave the frozen food section.
- 15:41We're not even going to Well, just for fun, we will do 1 Hot
- 15:44Pocket. So we're going to pull up a Hot
- 15:48Pocket. All right, here we go We're on
- 15:51the Hot Pocket website from the source itself.
- 15:53I. Don't think I've ever eaten one
- 15:55of these. That's why you're still
- 15:56standing. OK, All right.
- 15:59Nestle Hot Pockets frozen snacking BBQ beef.
- 16:05Be a long. List enriched flour, wheat
- 16:08flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine, Mona
- 16:12nitrate, nitrate. There's a folic acid too.
- 16:14OK, Rib A flavin, folic acid water, cooked beef steak, ground
- 16:19and formed. All right, so so far is how are
- 16:22we doing with enriched flour? I mean, anytime you see enriched
- 16:24flour, it should fly, right? Not a fan?
- 16:26Yeah. 'Cause that's like that, the
- 16:28good stuff is taken out and then they artificially put in stuff
- 16:30to enrich it, right. And you were talking about the
- 16:32folic acid earlier. OK, So now it says, OK, Now all
- 16:37the, the, the fun stuff. OK, Yeast extract, maladextrin
- 16:42flavors, beef stock, sunflower oil.
- 16:44So you got your seed oil, salt, sodium phosphate, beef fat.
- 16:48Not horrible, but not great. Yeah, no, I mean, yeah, the,
- 16:52it's, I'm looking at it, just glancing and I'm seeing
- 16:56different types of sugars like maltodextrin and things.
- 16:58Again, they're just sneaking sugar in without saying sugar.
- 17:01And they're also putting a lot of seed oils and I'm even seeing
- 17:03margarine in there, which of course is just more seed oil
- 17:07nonsense right with. Right.
- 17:09So it's a vehicle for sugar and then it's a vehicle for seed
- 17:11oils? Yep, always.
- 17:13Yeah. And again, those two items,
- 17:17sugars and seed oils, they trick your brain.
- 17:19They trigger your brain, right? They're hyper palatable.
- 17:22And that's why people just some people just love their Hot
- 17:24Pocket. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:26OK, all right, so now. And then I saw a dough
- 17:28conditioner too, but it didn't, it didn't have anything super
- 17:31sketchy. Sometimes those dough
- 17:32conditioners have. Have you heard of AZO carb?
- 17:35AZO Dicarbotomize. No.
- 17:37Tell me about it. That's yoga mat material.
- 17:39They literally put it in bread. It's yoga mat material and it's
- 17:43legal and once again illegal in Europe.
- 17:45RFK specifically talked about AZO dicarbotomide.
- 17:48What would they put that in? Like a.
- 17:50Subway bread, like Google subway.
- 17:52You don't have to but you can if you want.
- 17:54But just for listeners, also Google subway bread AZO dicarbon
- 17:58search subway bread and I'll spell it out for you.
- 18:01A ZODI. Here we go, I found it.
- 18:04Dicarbonamide. OK, yes, Subway bread previously
- 18:09contained Azodia carbonide, a chemical that is also used in
- 18:13plastics and shoes. When did they stop taking?
- 18:16When did they take it out? 2014 it looks like.
- 18:18Yeah, when the Food Babe, you know, the food babe, she was
- 18:21part of that whole recent government thing.
- 18:24She, she actually brought this to everybody's attention because
- 18:28it was in Wendy's, it was in McDonald's and I think most of
- 18:31the companies didn't remove it, but she specifically was picking
- 18:34on Subway in this massive, she had a massive campaign with a
- 18:41petition and so many thousands of people, you know, were part
- 18:45of that. And so she, she got it out of
- 18:47Subway. But a lot of other companies and
- 18:49a lot of breads in the supermarkets and stuff, they
- 18:51still have the yoga mat material in them.
- 18:53Crazy. OK, what about Wonder Bread?
- 18:56It's just hyper processed, right?
- 18:58It's super simplified and just, it's almost like just having
- 19:01straight sugar, you know? Here we go.
- 19:03Here. Here's our ingredient list.
- 19:04Her Wonder Bread, Unbleached enriched flour, wheat flour,
- 19:07molted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine, mono
- 19:10nitrate, riboflavin, full look out of it, blah blah, blah.
- 19:13So that's that whole thing then. Water, sugar, and then it says
- 19:17it also contains 2% or less of calcium carbonate, wheat gluten.
- 19:21So they put more gluten, soybean oil.
- 19:24Delicious dough conditioners. Oh, wow, here, here's your dough
- 19:28conditioners. Can you read that?
- 19:31Lots of things. Let me see if I can pronounce
- 19:34these things. Sodium sterile.
- 19:37Sodium sterol lactolate. Yeah.
- 19:43Calcium sterolactylate, monoglycerides, mono and
- 19:46diglycerides, Distilled monoglycerides, Calcium peroxide
- 19:50OK. So again, those can cause
- 19:51intestinal permeability. Have you heard this term
- 19:53intestinal permeability? Exodus 90 has changed the lives
- 19:58of thousands of men, making them more spiritually, physically and
- 20:02mentally strong and more successful in their
- 20:04relationships, work and life. Ladies, this is an amazing
- 20:08program to share with the men that you love.
- 20:10And men, if you haven't tried it already, now is the time.
- 20:13Exodus 90 was created by men for men and offers men a path to
- 20:17greater freedom by helping them temporarily detach from
- 20:20unhealthy habits and teaching them physical, mental and
- 20:23spiritual toughness. This 90 day journey supported by
- 20:26the. Exodus 90 app and community
- 20:28connects men with accountability partners and provides daily
- 20:31inspiration to strengthen their resolve and encourage them down
- 20:34a path of self-discipline. The results speak for
- 20:37themselves. 99% of men who make an exodus report a greater level
- 20:42of freedom than they've ever experienced before.
- 20:44For the men in our audience, I encourage you to join Exodus 90
- 20:47with Monsignor James Che, the president of the University of
- 20:50Mary, who is a spiritual guide for Advent this year on the
- 20:52Exodus 90 app, go to exodus90.com/lila.
- 20:56That's exodus90.com/lila. So I was talking to somebody
- 21:00recently about their gut issues that they have and, and they had
- 21:05a lot of genetic risk for leaky gut, right?
- 21:08And then they said, but my doctor told me leaky gut is not
- 21:11a thing. And I'm like, like what your
- 21:14doctor says leaky gut's not a thing.
- 21:16We went to pub Med. You know what Pub Med is?
- 21:18So for people that don't know, Pub Med is the official
- 21:21government database for all the scientific research studies.
- 21:24It's got millions of scientific peer reviewed studies.
- 21:27We went to Pub Med and searched the term intestinal
- 21:30permeability. That's the technical term for
- 21:32leaky gut. And there was over 20,000
- 21:35scientific studies on intestinal permeability, meaning it's very
- 21:38well established thing. You can't deny that it happens.
- 21:42And a lot of these different types of emulsifiers, which is
- 21:45most of that list those they basically make things, you know,
- 21:50they make your gut more permeable, they make more holes
- 21:53in your gut or at least more just.
- 21:55Follows to that. At least to food particles
- 21:57coming into your bloodstream. And then your immune system
- 22:00panics and starts attacking those food particles because
- 22:03they're not supposed to be there.
- 22:04They're supposed to be digested into the individual building
- 22:06blocks. Like, think of Legos, right?
- 22:08You're not supposed to have like a Lego ship.
- 22:10You're supposed to break down the individual blocks when they
- 22:12come into your body. But if you get the entire Lego
- 22:14structure into your system, your immune system panics and starts
- 22:17attacking it. And then you develop all kinds
- 22:19of immune response, which is obviously bad because that can
- 22:23create permanent immune response.
- 22:25Or it just creates inflammation which causes you to feel tired.
- 22:28I mean, think about if you have the flu, right?
- 22:30You feel tired. It's inflammation all.
- 22:33Right. Also Soy Lechin.
- 22:36Always with the soy, yeah. Always with the soy, OK, And
- 22:39then it says soy Lechin calcium propionate to retard spoilage.
- 22:47Yeah, preservatives. More preservatives.
- 22:50OK, so let's keep moving down the food aisle.
- 22:53So we just were in the bread aisle.
- 22:55I want to just pull up the Dave's product, Dave's breads,
- 22:59you know what I'm talking about. So this is a company that we
- 23:02actually buy our we buy whole wheat bread from a lot and it
- 23:09looks, it says organic bread, 21 whole grains and seeds.
- 23:13It's called Dave's Killer Bread. So this is a brand, they make
- 23:15bagels and all this stuff, but this ingredient list has always
- 23:18concerned me a little bit because it's pretty extensive
- 23:20and it has a lot of a lot of stuff in it.
- 23:22So let's take a look. Organic wheat, organic whole
- 23:26wheat, organic cracked whole wheat.
- 23:28OK, that doesn't that seems great, right?
- 23:30And then it has your cane sugar. That's like the third ingredient
- 23:33basically, which it's organic though, which is nice.
- 23:36Organic, 21 whole grains and you've got a seed.
- 23:39So you've got organic whole flock seed, you've got sunflower
- 23:44seeds, you've got organic brown sesame seeds, You've got a
- 23:47granic trical trical, you've got rolled barley and it says it's
- 23:5121 grains. You've really got 20 ones.
- 23:53And if you go down to the bottom, you get your salt, your
- 23:56your yeast. What do you think?
- 23:58Not too bad. No, I don't.
- 23:59I don't see anything major there unless you have got issues.
- 24:01Again, sometimes when people have got issues, it's surprising
- 24:04how poorly they do with all those different seeds and
- 24:06grains, not because of pesticides or spraying, but
- 24:10because the seeds and grains have a lot of natural toxins.
- 24:14The plants make defense toxins. Even coffee is technically a
- 24:16seed, right? That's why a lot of people, if
- 24:19they have a lot of gut issues, they do poorly with coffee.
- 24:21They get it's a laxative, they get diarrhea, their body's
- 24:23evacuating it. And if they have green tea with
- 24:26just as much caffeine, if they have like a really heavy dose of
- 24:29green tea, then you're fine. When they have a lot of gut
- 24:32issues, right? It's not because the caffeine is
- 24:34so problematic. It's a lot of times the seeds
- 24:36versus leaves, right? OK, let's get to the cereal
- 24:39aisle. We're going to the, you know,
- 24:41the one that in some ways, and this has made a Froot Loops, I
- 24:45think has gotten a special ire from the RFK world.
- 24:49And RFK had a video, he particularly I think called out
- 24:52Froot Loops was on the table, if I remember correctly, because of
- 24:54the dyes. But let's look at Froot Loops
- 24:56right now. Can you believe that it's almost
- 24:59the end of 2024 and soon it will be Christmas.
- 25:02If you want time to slow down and focus on God, especially
- 25:06before this Christmas season, and I highly recommend Hallow.
- 25:10As you may know, Hallow is the number one per app in the world
- 25:13with thousands of guided meditations and prayers.
- 25:15There's also sleep stories, Bible stories, content for kids,
- 25:19and so much more. Go check it out today
- 25:21hallow.com/lila for three months free and join the Pray 25 Prayer
- 25:26Challenge with Hallow. They have.
- 25:30I'm sure they got yellow 5 and 6.
- 25:32They've got red 40. So we've got ingredients Corn
- 25:36flour blend whole grain yellow corn flour de germinated yellow
- 25:39corn flour sugar wheat flour whole grain oat flour Modified
- 25:43food starch contains 2 or less of vegetable oil, hydrogenated
- 25:47coconut, soybean and or cotton seed.
- 25:50Oat Fiber Maladextran Salt Soluble Corn Fiber Natural
- 25:54Flavor Red 40 Yellow 5 Blue 1 Yellow 6 BHT for freshness.
- 26:00And by the way, just stop you there.
- 26:02Every single one of those you just mentioned is illegal in
- 26:04Europe. BHT illegal, Yellow four and
- 26:06five illegal, Red 40 illegal, except we again you have to put
- 26:09a disclaimer on the food if it has it and whatever the other
- 26:12one was, blue one. I think all of those are illegal
- 26:14in in Europe. And this is Froot Loops, which
- 26:18by the way, you can buy with food stamps if you're part of
- 26:22your the SNAP program. And that's the thing, like a lot
- 26:25of these things, they can be seem less expensive and often
- 26:28they are less expensive than the organic, you know, granola or
- 26:31whatever. And so you buy your Froot Loops
- 26:33and then you have all of these food dyes in them.
- 26:36So your in your view, the biggest culprit in your Froot
- 26:39Loops is the food dyes in terms of.
- 26:41No, I mean processed carbs, it's got everything.
- 26:45It's got the seed oils, it's got the processed grains, it's got
- 26:49the dyes, it's got BHT, which is linked to liver cancer.
- 26:54You know, it's funny when you do animal research, if you want to
- 26:57give the animals like the problem with a lot of animals
- 26:59that they don't get cancer when you're trying to study them.
- 27:01So you have to give them cancer and then you give them drugs to
- 27:04try and cure the cancer. When they give them liver
- 27:06cancer, they use BHT, they give them a bunch of BHT, get liver
- 27:09cancer and then try and cure that with different drugs,
- 27:11right. So that's not something you want
- 27:12the. Ingredient.
- 27:13They're putting in a lot of cereals and including Fruit
- 27:15Loops is VHT is what they're actually giving to animals to
- 27:19force them to get cancer, to run tests on them to try to remove
- 27:22the cancer, and that's VHD. Exactly.
- 27:24Liver cancer. So why?
- 27:27Toluene, I mean toluene is super toxic.
- 27:30Like if you do organic chemistry and you work with toluene,
- 27:33you're going to be working in a fume hood with like really good
- 27:38protection. You know where you don't even
- 27:40breathe that stuff in? Why?
- 27:42Why is BHT legal in the United States to be put in, and
- 27:46especially without a warning, into our cereals?
- 27:48Well, I think a lot of the food that a lot of these chemicals
- 27:51they come up with, they don't do a lot of safety testing.
- 27:54They assume they're good until they find out they're bad, which
- 27:57it should be the other way around.
- 27:58When you make an artificial chemical that's not found in
- 28:00nature, you should assume it's bad and then do a ton of
- 28:06testing. And even then, I'm still a
- 28:07little skeptical. But let's maybe open it up to
- 28:10OP, you know, like, maybe make it legal if we've done a lot of
- 28:14testing. But again, it's kind of flipped
- 28:16on its head. It's a problem.
- 28:18What are the problems with these dyes like red 40, yellow 5, blue
- 28:23one and yellow 6? There's a lot of problems.
- 28:26I mean, ADHD comes to mind, for example, they make you more
- 28:29twitchy and, and you know, anxiety, higher anxiety.
- 28:36And it's, again, it's some people, not everybody.
- 28:39So it's hard to pin down. But yeah, it's, it's just, I, I
- 28:44think it triggers your brain in certain ways.
- 28:46And there's a long list of problems.
- 28:47I mean, in RF KS video he listed like 10 things and he was
- 28:50reading off a script or something.
- 28:51So off the top of my head I don't know all the things, but I
- 28:53know for sure ADHD is one of them.
- 28:56OK, let's round this out with processed meats.
- 29:00Let's start with maybe the worst offender and then let's go to
- 29:03the most the the best processed meat in your view.
- 29:07What would be the worst offender of processed meats in your view?
- 29:12Like summer sausage or something, something that's room
- 29:15temperature that has so many chemicals and preserve.
- 29:18I mean meat at room temperature with an expiration 2 years from
- 29:21now is kind of a. Problem Salami.
- 29:23What about those? Those beef jerkies that you get
- 29:26the what are they called the red?
- 29:27Ones true beef jerky. Yeah, well, those are super dry.
- 29:30So anytime you dehydrate all the water out, a lot of times that's
- 29:33a form of preservation that our ancestors used.
- 29:37So bacteria only thrive in damp environments and wet
- 29:40environments. So if you remove all the water
- 29:42and you just have meat and salt or something, that's totally
- 29:44fine. Now, obviously beef jerky,
- 29:46that's not what they a lot of times they put a bunch of sugar
- 29:49in there and a bunch of sneaky nonsense.
- 29:50But again, like assuming you can find something clean, beef jerky
- 29:53is great but. Just avoid beef jerky that has
- 29:57too many preservatives or sugars.
- 29:59Yeah, and usually they don't. So usually I'm OK with that.
- 30:01But but in terms of like summer sausages and things, it's really
- 30:04sketchy. Like there's some good ones that
- 30:06you can probably make them yourself or find a butcher that
- 30:09makes them that are good but what about?
- 30:12What about your standard hot dog?
- 30:14I'm going to go to the Costco hot dog because the Costco hot
- 30:19dog is is legendary. And you know, so far Costco has
- 30:22actually been doing pretty good with in this episode.
- 30:24So I just searched for Costco hot dog on the Costco website.
- 30:27Nothing is coming up right now, so we're going to try to find it
- 30:29elsewhere. The Costco hot dog, there's an
- 30:31entire Wikipedia page dedicated to the Hosco hot dog.
- 30:35This is of course the famous hot dog because for decades now,
- 30:38since 1984, you can get a Costco hot dog hot dog which is 1/4 of
- 30:42a pound for only $1.50, along with a large sized soda drink,
- 30:47which we can talk about soda being bad.
- 30:48I think that's kind of a given here and as far as its impact on
- 30:52your health. But I'm interested in the
- 30:54ingredients of the Costco hot dog, so.
- 30:57And by the way, I'm friends with Ken Berry.
- 30:59He's got a YouTube channel and he he's a fan of hot dogs as
- 31:03long as they have clean ingredients and things.
- 31:06So people hate on hot dogs and sometimes they're actually fine.
- 31:08They're just beef, water and salt.
- 31:10Nice, here we go. Here's our hot dog from Costco.
- 31:14It says beef, water, dextrose, salt, spices, sodium lactate,
- 31:24garlic, paprika and extract, and sodium nitrate.
- 31:28Yeah. So a lot of preservatives there
- 31:29at the end. It's not the worst hot dog
- 31:32you've ever seen, but it's not the.
- 31:33Best it's up there. I mean, I wouldn't eat that.
- 31:35I mean, again, you're basically eating antibiotics, right?
- 31:38Like those preservatives are killing bacteria, right?
- 31:41I mean, that's the point of having preservatives is to kill
- 31:45and prevent bacteria from growing.
- 31:46And your gut has all these healthy bacteria that you need.
- 31:49And then if you eat something like that, you're just damaging
- 31:53your gut bacteria population, right?
- 31:55What is the best Turkey? The best deli Turkey.
- 32:02In your. Idea What about this one?
- 32:04This is the Dietz and Watson originals Turkey breast organic,
- 32:08but it says no added hormones, no nitrates, no nitrates added
- 32:12and then it says it's humanely raised gluten free.
- 32:14No artificial preservatives, no MSG.
- 32:17But then they throw carrageenan in there.
- 32:18Yeah. So I mean, in general with
- 32:21meats, the closer you can get to just meat, the battery, you're
- 32:24good, meat, salt, sure, you know that.
- 32:26What about nitrates? No nitrates.
- 32:28Yeah, I'm not a fan. Again, you're killing bacteria.
- 32:30I I get it. There's a ton of research on
- 32:32them. And some plants have nitrates
- 32:34like like celery and stuff has a lot of nitrates and nitrites.
- 32:38And but again, if you start concentrating those and eating a
- 32:41big dose of that with your meat, is there a bunch of evidence
- 32:45that shows it kills a ton of gut bacteria?
- 32:47No, because people aren't researching it.
- 32:49There's no government funded studies that are going to look
- 32:51at that. The government funding for
- 32:54studies right now is focused on pharmaceutical drugs and how can
- 32:57we make more of those, right. That's again, going back to this
- 33:01whole like we need to change the philosophy of the way we're
- 33:04doing research. Instead of focusing on more
- 33:07drugs, we need to focus on more food safety and clean it up.
- 33:14Do you have any hope that under RFK, with the awareness that
- 33:19could be spread, whether he ends up getting his nomination, ends
- 33:22up getting accepted or not? Do you have hope that with
- 33:26enough awareness, things are going to change over the next
- 33:29few years? Yeah, for sure.
- 33:31And in fact, there's a ton of homeschooling families that I'm
- 33:34friends with and even non homeschooling families that are
- 33:36paying attention to their health and people that are optimizing
- 33:39their health all across the country.
- 33:40I talk to them everyday doing DNA consults.
- 33:42So there's a massive grassroots movement of the with in this
- 33:47country. And it's so obvious.
- 33:50You can't deny it. And it's it's, you know, it's
- 33:53just overwhelming evidence that something is wrong.
- 33:56We have to fix something. And I think RFK is a good person
- 34:00to do it. You know, he's got he's got good
- 34:03intentions, I think, and I think he's on the right track looking
- 34:06at these additives and preservatives and seed oils and
- 34:09processed foods and skept being skeptical of the pharma
- 34:12industry. Again, just start from a place
- 34:14of skepticism. It's a great place to start.
- 34:16Do you have personal goals with your work in exposing what's
- 34:21happening with Big pharma and the food industry and what you'd
- 34:24like to see happen in this country?
- 34:29Yeah, I, I've worked with individual people.
- 34:31So my goals are just to help people that are actually
- 34:33motivated. You know, I don't like talking
- 34:35to people like most people that come to doctors, they're not
- 34:38that motivated. They just want a pill and they
- 34:40want to move on, honestly. And it is frustrating for
- 34:42doctors that actually want to do something good because most
- 34:45people don't care enough. And I, I don't, I don't have a
- 34:49lot of patience for that either. So what I do instead is I work
- 34:52with people that actually want to change and actually want to
- 34:54find out the truth and find out the right path for them.
- 34:56And, and those are the people that are going to be healthier
- 35:00and they're probably going to save our country, you know,
- 35:04intellectually and spiritually, all of the things, right?
- 35:07That's why, again, going back to homeschooling, I mean, the
- 35:11public school system controls your eating.
- 35:13You know, they control what foods the kids get to a large
- 35:16degree across the country. They can they make people sit at
- 35:19desks all day long, which is terrible for their physical
- 35:22health. They make people, you know, do
- 35:25all these tests and everything that are often times just
- 35:28teaching kids to spit back answers, not think for
- 35:30themselves. I mean, there's so many aspects
- 35:33spiritually, pretty much God is illegal in in public schools.
- 35:36So they've denigrated the education from, you know, the
- 35:42perspective of God, our body, mind and soul, you know, so a
- 35:47lot of it comes to these homeschoolers to save the
- 35:49country too, in my opinion. And and it's, it's important.
- 35:54Where can people find your work, Doctor Jay?
- 35:56Ajconsultingcompany.com is my website.
- 35:59Thank you. Thanks for thanks for
- 36:00pioneering. I know you were mentioning
- 36:03earlier RFK, you think read your book and I know some of the
- 36:07first times there's even been a lexicon for estrogenics and
- 36:09everything has been because of your work.
- 36:11So thank you. You're welcome.
- 36:13Yeah. Appreciate you having me.
- 36:14Thanks so much for listening to this Part 2 episode with Doctor
