- 0:03[SPEAKER_05]: The only thing that we hang manners for that we put up around this building is world championships.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: And you know the message clear, you know, we just have to play better.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody wants to take a chip and dip it in that sauce.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's no one to say.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to you in the better place.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but we've got a lot of fucking way to talk to the bull.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_06]: What's up, guys?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_06]: This is Jeff Anis.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_05]: You're listening to 4 man's Packers Hot Dance.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_05]: Hello and welcome to another dish on the planet's package podcast on one package podcast in the state of our minds.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_05]: I am Spencer joined this week with billion type boys Hello greetings gentlemen, and we are back after another God, I don't know one month two month play it is whatever football stuff has happened free agency has already Happened for the most part, you know, there's some still a couple bombs out there bargain bin bargain bin bombs some might say
- 1:12[SPEAKER_05]: But a few things have happened, there's been some coaching changes, obviously some players getting traded, some players signing with other teams, we brought in some new best friends.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, yeah, this episode will go through like all the position groups and say, well,
- 1:28[SPEAKER_05]: you know, what has changed, you know, the signings and all that shit coaching changes too.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_05]: There was a couple since the last podcast and a couple that people aren't really talking about too much, but I'm happy after getting on right in a half of you for several years for why is he our wide receiver coach now.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_05]: He's gone and being replaced.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, anything new with you guys, because shit on with snow, Billy you've been gone for a while.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_05]: Thank God, but you're you're back now.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_06]: I'm here still alive and kicking.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_06]: You couldn't hold me off the podcast too long.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, true.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if anything's new for me.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: Probably not then.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think if you don't know then it's probably no.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like once you turn 30 or you get to like 20 is like nothing new.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_05]: It never happens.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_06]: When people say same shit different day, it really is true.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_05]: We'll just jump right into it quarterbacks.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_05]: not a bunch, but some fun stuff.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I think I mentioned it before, but I mean, God, Jordan Love getting concussed against the Chicago Bears is going to net us a third round, uh, compact now with Malik Willis signing with Miami Dolphins.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_05]: Three years, 67 million dollars, uh, and then they trade to trade away Jill and water today too.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_05]: It's like who in the hell is he going to be throwing to like two to at well.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_05]: It's one of the top three receivers in Miami now.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_05]: So, here's the sale.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_05]: That's good.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_05]: You see, they have like $100 million in dead cap this year or 75 or something.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, 175 million.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, well, a big chunk of it is, I think like, 50 million might be like 2a.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_05]: And then Waddle was like 17 or 20 million too.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_05]: So, it's just because he just signed deal not too long ago.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so we're up to like 67.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: Where's the rest?
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: There's the rest.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_06]: Well, they got rid of mincafits, Patrick.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_06]: Trying to think who the other ones are.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_06]: I just saw it before the podcast, but that's, I mean, John Erick Sullivan and half-lear, clean and house down there, and basically tearing everything down.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: Get an afternoon, boyship.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_05]: So that was interesting to see a little bit less.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_05]: It looked like you might get up to that 30 million mark, but either way, can't really come play.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_05]: And right now, it's set to be a fourth round convict for us in 2027.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_05]: Again, if you don't know how convicts work, basically the higher someone gets paid as a free agent who leaves your team after their contract is up.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_05]: The next year you will get a free draft pick depending on how much they get paid.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_05]: Usually it has to be north of like eight million dollars or so ten minutes, but it's per position.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_05]: It is per position and playing tangos and do it.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_05]: There's a whole calculator for it that people always run, but it doesn't get announced until a couple months before the draft.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_05]: but it's looking like we are going to get four compics for the 2027 draft which apparently is supposed to be a pretty decent draft class too this year's isn't doesn't sound like it's all that great it's pretty thin like there's like a first couple guys like five in the after that it really drops off so we'll see what happens there is this all the scraps from all the COVID kids?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_03]: Well is that why it's thin right now I was
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: the COVID kids sat around for like seven years.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's just kind of weird too, because it's COVID that's been this year and last year, next year, we should be beyond that.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_05]: But it's also with the players getting coach, our players getting paid and the NIL shick on on, they stick around longer too.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_05]: I forgot, I just was talking with like Andy Herman today about it how one of the top defensive end
- 5:20[SPEAKER_05]: Prospects.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_05]: I forgot who should be a first round pick is older than Lucas Van Ness.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_05]: So kids are staying in college longer.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's a he must be a COVID kid them.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_05]: Right, but even if I mean there's a lot of guys staying You know fourth fifth years we're like 24 25 years old we're gonna be rookies
- 5:41[SPEAKER_06]: Well, and even there's, even there's all these court cases about kids trying to get extra years like Trinidad Chamberless at Ole Miss is trying to get like a sixth year of eligibility and trying to argue that missing time and junior college because of wisdom teeth getting pulled or something.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_05]: I think he got it too.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going back to Ole Miss now.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, is he going to be denied?
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: But doesn't JuCo not count against your years anyway?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_06]: It, in the NCAA, everything is made up and the points don't matter anymore.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_06]: Like it's just, it's a complete shit show.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_06]: Like I, I think there's some dude that's like going into his seventh year at like Washington State.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_06]: It's stupid.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll be looking for a new backup quarterback now.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_05]: We do have Desmond Ritter on the roster.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_05]: If you remember him, he beat the Packers and what Jordan loved second game in Atlanta when he was starting there for the last year.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_05]: We also have Kyle McCord to who's a sneaky people are high on him.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_05]: Well, as high as you can be on a guy that you pick up late in the year after the season was over.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_05]: But he was a sixth round pick.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_05]: for the Eagles last year and they said he's got like an NFL arm so maybe we won't use a decent draft pick on a backup quarterback again.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Desmond Ritter Kyle McCarty could probably do worse than that.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously Matt of Florida's done pretty well coaching up back up since it's time and green base.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_05]: We'll have to see there what happens.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_05]: And then the other news is which we had mentioned before because he had interviewed enough then I think the next day he
- 7:14[SPEAKER_05]: sign, but Sean Mannion leaving to join the Eagles as their offensive coordinator.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_05]: We then move Luke Getsy to quarterback coach, which a lot of people weren't happy with.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'm completely fine with Rogers, really liked him.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_05]: He I believe he's a former college quarterback as well.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_05]: He was an offensive coordinator at
- 7:34[SPEAKER_05]: Old Miss, I want to say, no, not Old Miss.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_05]: Mississippi State.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_05]: So maybe not a good offensive coordinator, but as a QB coach, I think he's fine.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_05]: And again, in Chicago too, and he was the OC there.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_05]: He had fucking Justin Fields, and I don't know if anyone can really turn him around.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, back up quarterback.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think we have too much to say there.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_03]: Running down.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_03]: What free agent backup quarterback side are out there?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_03]: Any any names out there.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_05]: I couldn't give a fuck last.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_05]: No, I don't think so.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean there was rumors If we trade for Anthony Richardson or Justin Fields who has now been traded at the chiefs But I wouldn't want to give away any draft capital for someone like that Maybe like a seventh round for Richard sin, but I don't even think the cults would be willing to do that at this point So we'll just we'll have to see what it fields go for
- 8:28[SPEAKER_05]: I, they might have swapped like a 6 and 7 because he does have a pretty decent contract to that he's on, so it's not, you know, it, it's not like a huge game, maybe it was a really cheap deal, you know, you could have gotten for something last, but with Patrick Mahomes 2, which I'd forgotten about, that he tours ACL at the end of the year, you know, fields might have to start a couple games to start the season 2.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_05]: All right, Russell, Russ, god, no.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, God, he is a free agent.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_05]: It's an he is and Kirk causes it's going to get released right that I did hear I forgot who had mentioned that but the thing now to how teams are getting smarter with the convict stuff where it seems like, you know, because the thing so if you sign free agents that would cancel out any guys who left.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_05]: So teams now are either all out on free agency or they go all in and they just sign a bunch of guys Because even if you look at the guys that we signed for the most part, they either got released or Or trades and that has nothing to do with the compacts.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll still keep the for the for picks and next year's draft.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_05]: Running backs, Chris Brooks back to your deal up to 4.8 million, but his caps, his cap hits are 1.8 and 2 million.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_05]: Again, vet minimum is like 1.2, I think, for vested veteran, so not much of a contractor commitment there.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I'm sure it's playing time or whatever else that they have, factor in to get up to that 4.8 total.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_05]: And then Emmanuel Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks for 2.1 million.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_05]: Any thoughts there?
- 10:16[SPEAKER_05]: It's looking like we got a bit of a hole at backup running back.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_05]: We do still have Martian Lloyd.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously if he can ever stay healthy, that would be nice.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_05]: We do have Damien Martinez as well.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_05]: He'll be a second of your player.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_05]: He was a sixth or seventh round pick.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_05]: from the seahawks last year who a lot of people thought he would go higher in the draft.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not totally counting him out, but I wouldn't doubt if running back is kind of a sneaky priority out of this year's draft class, but what do you think about the backup running back position right now?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: It definitely does feel thin, especially when you think about like Martian Lloyd's injury history.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: But like I just have a hard time even counting him as a real player until we've seen him on the freaking field for more than a snap.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like even he can't even say healthy and practice, so I don't.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: It does seem like a problem.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_03]: The good news is running backs are dirt cheap.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_03]: So we didn't need to go grab a runny back.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_03]: It's really it's not hard to do.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_06]: I was a little disappointed.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_06]: We let Wilson walk for that price point.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_06]: Like you said if
- 11:18[SPEAKER_06]: vent minimum is 1.2 million or whatever, like pay 2 million bucks for a quality back up running back and he came in and rushed for over 100 yards against the Vikings and has only started.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_06]: Like that's a pretty good insurance policy that you have as a backup, especially when his counterpart can't stay healthy.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_06]: But
- 11:39[SPEAKER_06]: I also understand that Brooks brings a lot of value with things that doesn't necessarily show up in the stat line, so I agree Spencer feels like we probably go after running back late in the draft or make it a priority, undrafted for agent, signing and bringing some more competition there.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I was completely fine with letting Wilson walk to, and it was a cheap deal, but I thought he kind of had a big opportunity this year to show out and maybe get a second contract with the team or maybe something more than, you know, because he was also a restricted tender whatever free agent.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, either way it's like he's a backup running back.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_05]: If you look at it, you can't do, you know, it's not apples to apples.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_05]: The offensive line was bad last year, but Josh Jacobs average 4.0 yard security Wilson 4.0 yard security.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_05]: And then Chris Brooks 3.9 yard security and he's obviously really good pass blocker, really good out of the backfield.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_05]: So I would have taken Brooks over Wilson anyways.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_05]: And I think it just sets us up to go out and draft someone if you want to because again if we get if we signed Wilson and say we brought Brooks back, I don't then it's like what do you do with Martian Lloyd, if you stay healthy, what do you do with you be in kind of a weird situation?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_05]: So you're kind of leaving that spot open and again, like you said Todd, like it's not tough to find or running back for the most part.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I guess I didn't realize it would have been 3 million bucks to keep Wilson.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_05]: That would have just been on the on the tender.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_05]: We obviously could have still signed him, but after we didn't give him the tender, he becomes a free agent and go out and get whatever deal he wants.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_06]: But if we had tendered him, then he's back with us for three million a year.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and okay, so that that makes sense.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, Lloyd is is cheap as a draft pick still and what what did you say we paid Brooks?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_06]: uh... it's one point eight this year to next year as far as cappets with all ourselves or anything so for all the extra dirty work that he does run blocking past blocking i think it's worthwhile to go cheaper there and then you know who else is a free-gen right now oh i think i think you know
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: maybe, but I don't know if you're talking about it.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_05]: AJ Dillon is a free agent still.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Sean has no interest.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it will Wilson.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_03]: Is there any fun weird contracts we can pick them up on?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_05]: No, that's kind of how we re-sign Christian Welch for under what he should get paid using that same rule that we had with AJ Dillon when he came back and then heard his neck and was out for the full year.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_05]: But thrown this out there, Immanuel Wilson, Patrick Taylor, Loone Nichols, even our all-on rosters right now, Lou and AJ Dillon is when we were talking about AJ Dillon, perhaps not making the roster back in like 20, 20, 3, I think it was.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: If you rewind to 2022, I predicted that Loon Nichols would overtake AJ Dylan.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was specifically talking about that season, but it didn't eventually happen.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_06]: Three years later, it aged well.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_05]: And then Tyler goods and he's still a free agent too, but it's still all those kind of mediocre running back.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, I don't think any of these guys are any worse than age you're dealing in.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, say it looks like the NFL is at least agreeing right now.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, if anything, they're younger than age 8 Dylan and yeah, but I'm not by a ton, whatever.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, why don't?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_05]: first thing I have listed here is our new wide receiver coach is Noah Polly.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_05]: He had just been hired as Penn State's wide receiver coach.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_05]: He won't be coaching there.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_05]: We actually had to pay his buy out to to make him our receiver coach also.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_05]: before that he was with Iowa State and coached up guys like Jaden Higgins and Jalen Noel who were both like second round draft picks I believe.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_05]: Halfway decent NFL players before that he was with UMD, the University Minnesota Duluth which is right across the bridge from where from.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_06]: Wasn't he with NDSU he coached Christian Watson.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah sorry he was with NDSU as well.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_05]: I have that written here because one of the things that I pointed out
- 15:55[SPEAKER_05]: is I believe this signing happened the week of the Super Bowl Christian Watson was doing a couple interviews on Radio Row.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_05]: They asked him about the new Idrecyvra coach and one of the things that he said ends me just being too hyper focused on stuff was one.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to get the room right which makes you think that the room might have been a little wrong.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_05]: So again, bring it in a guy who played wide receiver in college Ryan Mahafi of course didn't get fired because We all know Matt will floor would never fire a position coach unless you know gun was drawn on him Ryan Mahafi went with
- 16:35[SPEAKER_05]: Sean Manion to Philadelphia, he's going to be the run game coordinator and Titan coach there, which might be a little bit more suited for him.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_05]: After he was a full back and Titan, in college and NFL for a tiny little bit.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_05]: So again, I don't know if he's a good or bad coach.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_05]: I just don't know why he was our wide receiver coach for.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_05]: Two, three years when we had one of the youngest wide-out rooms in the entire NFL.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_05]: So happy to see some change there.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_05]: We'll have to see You know, if the room gets better or whatever, but it seems that there's a couple of YouTube videos of him putting on like a coaching clinic It seems like he knows Offences and shit, obviously everyone in the NFL does, but again, not not a running-backer tight-end coaching up that room
- 17:18[SPEAKER_06]: Does he have any connection to LeFloor or anybody on the staff or was this just purely an outside hire?
- 17:25[SPEAKER_06]: I think it was an outside hire.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not aware of any connection that he might have had.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_06]: That's one of my complaints so often with La Flore, especially, but maybe just the Packers in general.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_06]: It seems like we always just go and hire the head coaches friends, and I think maybe having outside voices that don't have a connection to the franchise is a good thing sometimes.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_05]: It, I, a lot of people say that, but I don't know how many people, how many coaches who have been brought in.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_05]: That's been totally accurate on, like, you know, even fucking rich Besatia.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_05]: They weren't friends.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_05]: But of course, after six around for a few years, he loves them.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_05]: You know, these other guys that we hired like the inside linebacker coach.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't have any connection with the floor.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, there's been other guys too, but
- 18:14[SPEAKER_05]: maybe it's just the recycling of Nathaniel Hackett and Luke Getsy that kind of gets brought up to with that.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_05]: But again, he had no connections with Nathaniel Hackett when he brought him in either.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_05]: Luke Getsy was kind of Aaron Rogers really liked him.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_05]: That's why he came back as the QB code.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_06]: I just think about the number coaches that have bounced around from offensive line coach to run game coordinator to offensive coordinator to quarterback coach and it just feels like it's
- 18:43[SPEAKER_05]: Romeo Dubs, you know, getting back to the actual receivers on the team or who were on the team, science with the Patriots 40 year, 68 million, 17 million per year should net us a fourth round Compick.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_05]: I don't happy for Romeo.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad we didn't resign him for anything close to that, but has a good chance to be number one receiver there.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_05]: Especially because what all they with Stefan digs getting cut they have case on booty there and Kyle Williams was a second round Draftpick last year too, so we'll see it from it has success there.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_05]: The receiver that we signed Skymore Kind of a weird contract one year a base of 2.5 but it can be worth up to 4.5 million
- 19:29[SPEAKER_05]: You know, seemingly will be the return guy, not much of a receiver, you know, kind of shit out with the chiefs after being a second round pick with them, I believe, not if you've been a first round pack, I think it was a second round pick though.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, decent special teamer returned guy.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_05]: He had a 98 yard return touchdown for the Niners last year.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_05]: he had an average of 27.5 on kick returns.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_05]: Savion Williams for comparison had one of 25.6, but if you get rid of the one touchdown, which is a pretty big what, or but there, Savion actually was a better kick returner than Skymore was last year.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_05]: And then put returns, which is probably the big thing, is his average was 11.6, Romeo's was 6.3.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_05]: So a pretty substantial upgrade there.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see if he actually makes the roster.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's like 1 million guaranteed with this deal.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_05]: But at least it's the team showing some type of, you know, put in some importance on special teams and at least the return game.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_06]: as long as punt returns or catching a punt I should say is no longer an adventure and I have to hold my breath.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_06]: I'm all for it.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's that's what people.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like we have short-term memory because a lot of people are upset like, oh, we don't get anything on punt returns.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_05]: Last year, Romeo was completely fine.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_05]: And that's why I was fine with putting them back there.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_06]: He just didn't look super natural to me catching the ball.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_05]: The way he would catch it is like, oh, okay held on to it, but he never muffled anything.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously the onside kick was a different deal.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_05]: He was much better.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_05]: Matthew Golden, I think.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_05]: I was skeptical of was a way he fielded it.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_03]: But as the year went on to Romeo look more and more comfortable, he just never got anything on Matthew Gold at least looks like he's an athlete when he's out there catching puns.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: Now I was scared he was going to get killed because he was just
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: it's good to have somebody who's a designated hunt returner kicker turner.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't like having starters.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I've said them a million times.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: Just like don't like having starters out there catching bonds.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I don't know if the seahawks seem to put some importance on that, but their special teams in, they ended up winning the Super Bowl.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, how did you for them?
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't do well.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_05]: Very good point.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_05]: We also brought Bob Melton back on whatever restricted tender.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see if he catches on with the 53 again.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_05]: The other thing with receiver, there's been a lot of talk about Jaden Reed over the last week or so about him potentially getting traded along with potentially Dante Vion Wix.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_05]: I don't get it.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of fans have just sowered on Jean Reed.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like recently, which I don't quite get.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_05]: I get his hands were a little suspect and the Chicago game at the end of the year obviously, it makes out one catch.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_05]: We probably win that game, but I just I don't know.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_05]: I said it last year that if everyone was healthy, I wouldn't mind trading him away, but now it's like we have Watson.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_05]: We have golden.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_05]: We have wicks.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_05]: We have Reed.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_05]: Then we have
- 22:34[SPEAKER_05]: Savion Williams 2 and it's like I don't know like I just fucking Peter Bikowski and again He's a fucking idiot be put out on Twitter That the packers You know because people have said oh, maybe a fourth round pick for Jayden Reed, which again I think would be stupid
- 22:51[SPEAKER_05]: The Packers give up their second-round pick and Jaden Reed.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_05]: They can get that pick from the Dolphins that they just acquired from the Broncos, which would be us moving up nine spots.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_05]: According to what I was seeing or maybe it was a different pick.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe it wasn't that dolphin's pick and I'm like You would really trade a way Jane read to move up nine spots in a fucking draft and it was like, oh well It's it's a fourth round compensation according to the trade calculator.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like that's fucking stupid like Because last year too, you know, I would have been fine with trading away one of those receivers until we had all the injuries going on and it's like I think some people are just getting a little too I don't know in the weeds with this stuff.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_05]: I was gonna say something go ahead Todd
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: I just just say I think that when you look at if you're like basing it off and put the trade calculator says and you think that moving nine spots is worth a fourth round like that's not.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't something's wrong with the trade calculator.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how it works, but that's not right.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_06]: I also think the top four that you rattled off Spencer, that's a pretty good top four.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_06]: If they're all healthy, I feel really good about that top four going into the season.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_06]: And now to talk about trading away Jaden Reed for a fourth round pick, like, when he's healthy, he brings a skill set that none of the other wider severs on the offense have, or even to trade away wicks, like he
- 24:14[SPEAKER_06]: When he's right, he might have the sureest hands on the team.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_06]: So, would you really want to trade away one of those guys and you're asking Savion Williams or SkyMord to step up into that top for like no way?
- 24:28[SPEAKER_05]: What makes sense for me, if you work too, like I wouldn't be shocked if we did trade-aways, so I'm gonna light-jane read, because he pretty much only comes on the field on three receiver sets.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_05]: He's never an outside guy.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_05]: And this year's draft is a big body wide receiver class.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_05]: And that's what Matt Low floor prefers.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_05]: That's what the packer's prefer.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_05]: So it wouldn't shock me, but again, I don't really see us doing.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think it's a net positive with- Does it feel like you're going to go in wide out in the draft either though?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like that also doesn't feel like a priority.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, uh, with that, uh, you know, stick with receivers a little bit here and talking about, uh, signing sky more rich, left, rich Pasachi a resigned his position as the special teams coach with the Packers.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_05]: I think it happened like a week after we had our last pod pretty surprising.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, it does.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_05]: He's now the special teams coach at Clemson.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_05]: So, interesting that he is still staying in coaching.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_05]: Apparently he's got family down in Florida, so he's close to them, whatever, but I wouldn't be shocked.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_05]: And I would think we'll probably see him in the NFL again sometime.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_05]: It does sound like him and LaFlor had some type of beef or falling out towards the end of the year there.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_05]: Nothing substantial or, you know, anything unrecord.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_05]: But like, we'll do did say something that talking to guys in the building because everyone remembers, of course, ever remembers, Goody at the year and presser talking, rich up and how he's a big culture guy, how much of the value him blah, blah, blah.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_05]: And we'll be said that those comments came a little too late.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_05]: So Rich felt like he wasn't being valued very much, and I'm sure he, you know, obviously publicly he gets blamed for a lot of things, and we've kind of talked about it a lot this year, you know, used to curse him a lot, but again, a lot of the special teams were better.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, our coverage units were about the best they've ever been, and he can't force guys to be good returners when you don't really have a great returner on the roster.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 26:30[SPEAKER_05]: In pretty interesting when that happened, Brian Sawyer 2, who was our backup, our assistant special teams coach, the number 2 behind Rich, he left the week before and he's the Brown Special Teams Coordinator.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_05]: He did tell the media there that he wouldn't have taken the Packer Special Teams job if he were given the offer.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if that's just he's talking to the Cleveland media, he's well, but again, it's like you're not going to be up in front of microphone saying, well, if I was off for that job, I wouldn't be here right now, but again, it does make you think that there's some type of dysfunction within the organization or at least how the special teams coaches were seeing how they value the roster and how much that helps them out.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_06]: I just thought the timing of rich leaving was weird.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_06]: Like if he was going to leave, I would have expected it to be shortly after the season ended, you know, by the time he left, like it seemed like all the coaching hires had pretty well settled and I was expecting quiet.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_06]: So, I don't know, I just thought the timing of it was weird.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it was something that he had took like a week off and wasn't back in the building or something.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, there was some goofy stuff going on.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_05]: Our new special teams coordinator, who I'm probably going to forget.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_05]: Cam Acord, he was the Giants assistant special teams coach last year and for a couple years there.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_05]: Before that, he was the Patriot special teams coordinator.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_05]: He started under Bill Billachek, but every year he was the coordinator there.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_05]: The special teams got worse and worse.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_05]: I believe the last time he was coach from there were 27th in the league.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_05]: So again, be it slim-pickens after rich kind of fucked us over waiting that long again I wonder if that was him trying to get back at a floor for whatever reason, but we'll see again I mean we did bring a bunch of specialists back special teamers so I don't know I I do I
- 28:25[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's a pretty good chance that next year we're going to be seeing some large returns break for the opposing team.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm going to be like, hey, remember rich.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_05]: It's wasn't happening under rich, rich Pisacia.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_05]: So, and that was always the big deal in the 2010s with our special team coordinators.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_03]: That's a bummer that maybe he's due.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's due to have a good special teams.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's good.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's due to put a good one together.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, for sure.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_05]: There's no way this is going to blow up in our face.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_05]: Tydend.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_05]: Not a lot to talk about here.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_05]: We did recind Josh Wiley who was a decent, you know, late season ad.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_05]: Near vet minimum deal, but again a good body to have back there another guy who's 6, 7, 6, 6, John Fitzpatrick is still a free agent.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_05]: He tore his Achilles tendon if you remember last year, so I wouldn't expect him to be back with the team and then again something else to remember.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_05]: Tucker Craft and Luke Musgrave are both in contract years.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_05]: Tucker is obviously
- 29:23[SPEAKER_05]: going to get extended, Luke Musgrave, if he's with the team this year, it's probably definitely going to be his last year with a team again.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_05]: I can't believe it's already the fourth year for these guys and the NFL isn't saying.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_05]: And again last year, just just put out their two that there was a deal on the table from the Broncos for like a fifth round pick for Luke Musgrave,
- 29:49[SPEAKER_05]: They couldn't really move on from a tight and especially after we lost Ben Sims to the Vikings once again, too.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_05]: You see who Ben Sims signed with?
- 29:58[SPEAKER_05]: No.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: Bangles.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_05]: Chicago.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_05]: The dolphins because the dolphins are green based out at this point.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_05]: Offensive line.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I assume we have nothing to say on Joshua.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_05]: Offensive line.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_05]: Probably the biggest maybe that's overselling.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_05]: But the biggest story with Packers for H and C this year, at least with these configs with Rashid Walker.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he went into the year kind of thinking, hey, you know, this is Rashid's last year with a team.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_05]: He's a left tackle, though.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_05]: Once he leaves, he's going to get a nice big contract.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to get a nice config forum.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_05]: He's got to start.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_05]: Well,
- 30:35[SPEAKER_05]: gets one year, 10 million, you know, a lot of sites were projecting him to get north of 20 million bucks like whoever for, I don't know if it's Carolina who's signing the guy, but there was some tackle who's signed a pretty decent deal last year when he had just given up like the most sacks in the NFL the previous season.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_05]: So they thought the market might stay that way, well, it got a lot worse.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_05]: Just as Miss Geda was talking about this, how he was talking to a guy in the NFL some front office, and this is before for agency started like the day before, where they needed tackle, and the guy told him that they would pay Rashid $17 million.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_05]: And what it seems like what happened is Rashid's agent and Rashid, they kept, they kept their asking prices high as it was for the previous year, probably around $20 million or more than that, didn't happen, didn't happen.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_05]: All of a sudden, it's four or five days later, they're realizing, hey, the market's completely different than what it was last year.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_05]: And then they had a settle on a one year, $10 million deal, so that one, obviously he gets a decent paycheck compared to what he
- 31:46[SPEAKER_05]: but now he can hit the market again next year and if they get an offer like that 17 million or anything close to it, they'd probably take something like that.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_05]: So interesting, sucks for us, especially when you look at it where if that does happen, the panthers would end up getting a better comp pick than what we will end up getting for Rashida.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_05]: Again, it should be a 6th round pick, but if you place all year it'll probably be a 5th, but a bit of a bummer
- 32:13[SPEAKER_06]: he also didn't have a great year for us so he was fucking he's the one of the biggest reasons why we lost in the playoffs might be I mean he's he's probably betting on himself maybe he had a two year offer on the table but if he thinks he can play at a higher level why not bet on yourself and go for a bigger payday I like that he's bet on himself I mean he was pretty shaky at the end there but like he had a lot of good football in him with hackers so
- 32:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's not to say that it's not there.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if it's injury issues or what you would it should be that to what the actual problem is, but he kind of fell off.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: But...
- 32:50[SPEAKER_03]: He was a pretty good player for a while and he was usually for a 7th round pick.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he's great for a 7th round pick I don't think he's ever had really any injury issues.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_05]: He might have been the healthiest guy on the offensive Sometimes you just don't know though.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes it's like, oh, I, you know, spray his ankle and you just don't know.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_05]: True, but what's the ability to compare that to Zack Tom Elton Jenkins, Aaron Banks, you know, it was a cluster.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just trying to be charitable in the fact like
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: What's the fall off?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: What do you attribute it to?
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: He forgot how to play football.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if right Yeah, I don't I don't know.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_05]: I part of it too is there weren't a lot of teams that needed a left tackle This free agency period either, so we'll see but going along with that too, which it's one of those where I'm like And are the Packers kind of shaking their head at themselves right now?
- 33:39[SPEAKER_05]: We did bring back Sean Ryan three years 33 million 11 per year.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_05]: I think we you know it's one of those contracts where it's you know
- 33:47[SPEAKER_05]: sign up and then you can cut them next year if you need to.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_05]: But again, like Sean Ryan got more money than Rashid Walker, pretty surprising.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm fine with bringing him back.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you want to really rely on him.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_05]: But again, he was fine at center and maybe he gave him a full off season.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_05]: He'll be halfway decent there.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: The thing is he's solid in the run game like he is one of the guys that's like you run behind Sean Ryan.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: So having him in the middle of the line like I a hundred percent agree Like if you can give him a full off season and like throw it I don't know I assume getting thrown in that center is actually pretty freaking tough
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: because they make traditionally they make the calls, right?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: So that can't be an easy situation to be dropped into.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_06]: So I was going to say I'm a little bit excited for it.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_06]: I was going to say just looking at the center market like there are so many teams that need a center like the bears drew Dalman retired kind of out of nowhere.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_06]: So they need a center.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_06]: The lions had Frank Rag now retired two years ago and the middle of their interior line was absolute garbage last year.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_06]: So they need
- 34:54[SPEAKER_06]: The they lose both their guards to or something.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_06]: I think so lines.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_03]: That's a rough spot.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_06]: The Vikings.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_06]: They just had their center retire because of concussions wasn't that right in Kelly.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_06]: So like the two big fish on the center market were beodish who is of Wisconsin kid.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_06]: former badger who I would have loved to sign, but he got a big deal kind of before for agents even started with the chargers.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_06]: And then of course, Linda Baum, who's another big 10 kid from Iowa, who I also would have loved to have that not at the price point he ended up getting from the Raiders.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_06]: So to me, Sean Ryan is a pretty good consolation prize because you keep that continuity there.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_05]: and it seems like they valued versatility over just being a center which is kind of the way that the backwards have leaned in recent years.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_05]: Other than that, Elton Jenkins cut, you know, if you see him go again the way he started his career really, he was on like a hall of fame.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_05]: Um, projection there.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_05]: What was I looking for for trajectory trajectory.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_05]: I had it and then it was just gone.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_05]: Um, again, it's in Justice was saying to how even Elton signing with Cleveland might have been a factor in Rashid not having as much as of a market because the Browns
- 36:12[SPEAKER_05]: pretty much had to replace their entire offensive line, and then they signed a guard, they signed Elton who will place center, and then they just kind of ran out of money.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_05]: So who knows if we had just waited a couple more days to cut Elton, but either way he gets a $2 or $24 million deal, so good for him.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_05]: Still going to throw out Travis Glover.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_05]: He was a sixth or seventh round draft pick two years ago.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_05]: So when it seems like internally they were high on and then he got thrown on the IR drink training camp.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_05]: So maybe he will be some type of surprise in training camp.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_05]: I mean we've had that happen quite a bit in some recent history with Yash Niman, you know coming out of nowhere, being a decent left tackle, Rashid Walker obviously coming out of nowhere, being a decent left tackle.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see what
- 36:56[SPEAKER_05]: his lover the one that got thrown in for like two series against Philly and that wild card game and he was a bad he was one of the two that got thrown in there yes and I think that might have even been at guard because Elton was the one that went down
- 37:11[SPEAKER_05]: Zack Tom, not much of an update, but he did post some rehab videos and for all the talk of him tearing his Patel attendant, he was moving pretty decent for a guy who some people are saying it's potentially a career ending injury or it has been in the past and it was like well he's like he was like jogging and bending a shit.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_05]: So it's it seems like people are saying now that it wouldn't be a shock if he's ready to go at the beginning of a year
- 37:41[SPEAKER_05]: was he doing like set ups to just like hey look at my core it was one of those words like he's sitting on a bench and it's like oh look at this band look how good it oh yeah and then the only other guy to mention is Darren canard is back with the team according to Pat McAfee it's funny I was trying to look up like usually there's little articles like oh Packers we send this guy Pat McAfee is the only person who put that out there
- 38:07[SPEAKER_05]: Just reposting what Pat Mack said and that's a three year or a one year 3.3 million dollar deal Which is about what he would have had as a restricted tender free agent too.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_05]: So offensive line Kind of a weird spot.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_05]: I don't hate our starting five right now, which is probably going to be Jordan Morgan Aaron Banks, Sean Ryan Belt and then Zach Tom Did you talk about banks restructuring his contract?
- 38:36[SPEAKER_05]: That's nothing though.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's just moving money around what exactly was it.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_05]: I thought all they do is what they do is they give them a signing bonus so that they move money is it just moving cap money around is that is it all it is is getting it so that some of the money that you'd get paid out this year You get paid it like right now and then they can push it back to once once it's a signing bonus you can move that money wherever you want to
- 39:05[SPEAKER_05]: as like as the cap hit.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_05]: Um, so we'll see there, uh, the only other thing I put this out on Twitter and I saw like the one fucking, uh, what is this new window?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_05]: I think that like Brazilian dude, is it Brazilian?
- 39:18[SPEAKER_05]: Do we plan Brazil?
- 39:20[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, yeah, he's Brazilian.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_05]: He was like, no, because so good.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't say much at his season ending presser, but one thing that he said with the offensive line, it seems like, well, you know, he had some guys being blah, blah, blah, blah, because he was asked about how the offensive line didn't play that well.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then one of the things he said is, you know, we had a couple of guys and contract years, which wouldn't be a reason for the offensive line, not playing well.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_05]: So it's kind of a weird to list that.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_05]: And my thinking is, there's a good chance Jordan Morgan would have started that left tackle at some point, maybe if it had to be getting of the year, if they had known Rashid Walker wasn't going to net them a really high convict, which everyone had expected.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_05]: And I said that in a window was like, no, no, I haven't because they were injured.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_05]: And then Justice misgated did say like a very similar thing today as well.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_05]: That maybe things would have been different.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_05]: Had they known, you know, it only would have been a sixth round pick.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_05]: You know, come to come January when we're playing the bears.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_05]: I would have rather had a polished Jordan Morgan at left tackle instead of Rashid Walker, who obviously didn't play very well in the playoffs.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_05]: So who knows?
- 40:29[SPEAKER_05]: Probably nothing but something to think about.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_05]: With that, God, we've gone for a while here.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_05]: We will have a quick commercial break, and we are back with the defense, the defense.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_05]: So with the defensive line, the only, well, the biggest splash we made in pre-agency.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_05]: signing Jonathan Hardgrave after he was cut by the Vikings, which is pretty funny.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_05]: He got cut and half an hour later, we signed him.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_05]: Just as misguided too, it was saying likely to up to it.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's one of the worst kept secrets of the Packers are going to make a huge push just signed Hardgrave, whatever he is cut.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_05]: And like I said, half an hour hour later,
- 41:16[SPEAKER_05]: kind of weird how he did publicly on Twitter.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_05]: He like retweeted someone saying that Brian Flores's scheme isn't great for defensive linemen.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_05]: So he didn't really like playing under Brian Flores.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_05]: He's a good pass-rusher, not the best run defender.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_05]: That's kind of the thing that most people say.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_05]: But I think it was Matt, not Matt Schneiman.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_05]: Zach Cruz put this out there that according to pro football
- 41:42[SPEAKER_05]: Javon Hardgrave graded a better against the run than any defensive tackle on the Packers roster in 2025 Wow, so that's just kind of shows you that, you know, if he might not be good, but he's probably better than what we had He is 30 he will be 33 years old when the season starts which is pretty old for the Green Bay Packers They never acquired guys of the soul, but we did a couple of guys who are 29 or in their 30s
- 42:11[SPEAKER_05]: Um, he ranked 17th among all defensive linemen's in pass rush win rate, uh, 11th in true pass sets, uh, pass it's winning percentage in 2025.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_05]: He's only missed four games in his nine seasons, which is obviously pretty important too.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_05]: And he has to be input this out there.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_05]: Hi, it's quick pressure rate.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_05]: He was second with a 5.4 for all defensive tackles between 2023 and 2025.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_05]: So again, he's old, but he's clearly the best guy on our interior defensive line now.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_05]: I was happy with the signing.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't be surprised if we go out and sign some other that fuck at some point,
- 42:57[SPEAKER_05]: But what did you guys think of Javan Hargrave and getting him on the roster?
- 43:02[SPEAKER_03]: It felt, I don't know, before I even looked into it, I was like, oh, like, feels like a guy that's kind of washed.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: But then I did look into it a little bit and kind of saw that it's like, he's actually like, he may even be washed, but at the same time it's like, he's about as good as anybody we've got.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: And then I did read something to that said that he had his best seasons or some of his best seasons with
- 43:27[SPEAKER_03]: Jonathan, right?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Jonathan Ganon in Philly.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_03]: So interesting.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think what do you do with it?
- 43:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like he's not a superstar, but like I don't know.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_06]: I'm happy with it.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_06]: At the same time, the depth.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_06]: We exactly.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_06]: We don't need him to be a superstar.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_06]: Like we've got other guys on that defense.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_06]: Devante Wyatt.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_06]: I thought was having a good year before he got heard.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_06]: Of course, Micah Parsons when he gets back.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_06]: Edger and Cooper.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_06]: Like we just need him to eat up blocks in the middle
- 43:58[SPEAKER_05]: with why it hardgrave and persons.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_05]: We should have a pretty decent pass rush when we didn't have much outside of persons for the majority of the year, especially with LVN being hurt, Gary being fat, and all that, so sticking with that too, we did trade away with Sean Gary, which was crazy.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_05]: I remember waking up, checking my phone, I'm like,
- 44:20[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we actually traded away, Rashad Gary, and I don't know, I, I don't know if I said this last year, but if not, I was definitely thinking it, so you got to trust me on it.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_05]: But like, when he was rackin' up those sacks, the first half of the year, I'm like, keep it up, get as many sacks as you can.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you're very good, and then we can trade you to someone dumb who just looks at the stats, and they're like, oh, he had a bunch of sacks.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_05]: We can trade him with someone like Jerry Jones.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_05]: And then literally we trade him to the cowboys for a fourth round pick, which was fucking awesome.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_05]: He's still gonna be $17 million of dead cap for us this year, which kind of sucks.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_05]: I got a little shit.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_05]: That's kind of suck.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_05]: It got a little shaky when the max cross be trade didn't go through, and then it's like, wait, are the cowboys now gonna back out of this deal, and then they're gonna go after max cross be and that didn't happen.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_05]: But
- 45:12[SPEAKER_05]: Getting a forethrow and pick for a guy that we were definitely going to cut is pretty pretty nice It definitely doesn't hurt.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_03]: I was really excited to see that.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, oh, like we got we got something like this is great like anything
- 45:27[SPEAKER_06]: if he had a seventh round pick would have been right sweet that that's what I was going to call him anyway how how many times are their cut candidates like that were the team where the report is oh or so and so is is looking to trade this guy but if they don't find a willing partner they're going to cut him because whenever I see that it's just like well then they're going to cut him because teams know that he's going to be available and then
- 45:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oh shit, Jerry Jones being the lovable idiot he is decides that he wants to give us a fourth round pick so thank you Jerry Jones well my thought was there had to have been a second bitter because there's no I mean even I don't think Jerry Jones is the most savvy person in the world
- 46:07[SPEAKER_03]: far from it.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't even think he would bid himself up to a fourth rounder.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: He wouldn't do that to himself.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like somebody else had to be had to be snooping around looking to see or maybe had to have leveraged it.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe Goody was like, oh man, hey, Jerry.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_05]: I can only talk to you first of all.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_05]: I got someone else on the other line here.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_05]: They're given me a fifth Jerry.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_05]: And part of it too is Gary did take a bit of a pay cut as well.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_05]: They like restructured his contract.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see, I mean, I don't think, again, I don't think he's a terrible player.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_05]: Like he deserved most of the flag that he got at the end of last year.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_05]: But again, like third downs, it seemed like once a game he was getting a pressure what we needed at forcing and completion.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_05]: And again, I don't even like push on Gary.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_05]: I love that you moved on from him.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_05]: But it's like, I guess I saw someone.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_05]: I had fucking uh, there's I hate Twitter.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_05]: Twitter just gets worse and worse.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_05]: There's that Wisconsin family guy on Twitter, I've quoted him a couple times he said, it's a addition by subtraction with Rashad Gary, like just losing him makes the team better and it's like,
- 47:15[SPEAKER_05]: Well, not if you don't have anyone to replace him like I understand he wasn't great, but he's he's not like an awful NFL player.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I looked it up too.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_05]: He's very compulsive.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_05]: He was a little bit better, uh, sack wise per game than Nick Perry.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was like point.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_05]: Nick Perry was like point three nine sacks per game and Rashad Gary was like point four one.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: you know, he's just overrated.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's not that he's bad.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's just overrated and the dollars were throwing at him or just too much.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_06]: It seemed like at the beginning of the year that, I mean, obviously Parsons was getting pressure all over the place, but he wasn't finishing at the quarterback, but then that was helping Gary and then it kind of flipped and all of a sudden Parsons is going on a tear and getting to the quarterback and all of a sudden it's like, well, where's
- 48:10[SPEAKER_06]: And then when when Parsons got hurt, Gary wasn't the, wasn't the beneficiary of the havoc that Parsons was causing.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: Credit where credits do, Roshan and Gary figured out immediately that, hey, if I don't get anything done in my first two seconds, where is, like, where's the quarterback?
- 48:31[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm sure he's getting flushed up the middle of the field by now, like I'll just backtrack to the middle of the field and get a sack.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_03]: We did that, like, five of his success the beginning of the year, we're just him floating back to the middle of the field and having Micah push the guy up the field because he overshot around the corner and then, I mean, halfway into the season, we were talking about having two, two dudes with 10 plus sacks each.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_05]: at one point what three four-year games in the season he was leading the league and in sacks which is yeah funny it look back on and they credit them to he when he first came in he was terrible at setting the edge he's turned to one of the like better runger vendors for an outside line backer in the league so again I'm up and down up and down career for him with the packers you know pay them a lot of money to but
- 49:20[SPEAKER_06]: that Nick although he was never fast on the edge like if you if they ran at him it wasn't a gimmick yeah he made you work for it if you ran at him that Nick Perry comp is a good one like Nick Perry was kind of the same dude like came in as a first rompick at a high expectations did enough to get a second contract and then visit one one good season and I mean Nick Perry I'm almost positive at least had a season where he had double digit sacks which I'm Gary never did that.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we're shot never had dummies.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_05]: Um, what was he going to say out?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, whatever.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_05]: We're Sean good luck to him.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_05]: Whatever.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, J.J. Nick Bars signs with the jets one year 10 million dollars.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_05]: So do you remember how he got the his nickname?
- 50:05[SPEAKER_05]: One year 10 million.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, sorry.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_03]: You, uh, Nick Perry 24 or 2016 11 sacks, right?
- 50:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, I know.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_05]: You didn't have to check that.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, we just did.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_05]: Well, okay, so what I was going to had JJ JJ in a barri who went by JJ because he loved JJ the jet playing growing up science with the judge seriously.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about that when he got drafted.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_05]: Nope.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_05]: So no, now he's with the judge's liar.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_05]: One of your ten million dollars again pretty close well pretty much the same thing as Rashid Walker, so whatever it'll be a six-throw and pick between one of the two of them there We did re-signed Bretton Cox as well who was sneaky a free agent so glad to get him back so that room now is I'm a silver shon Gary
- 50:57[SPEAKER_05]: Parsons, LVN, I must say JJ, Bretton Cox, Colin Oliver, and Baron Surrell.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see, I don't think it's kind of like what we're going to end up doing with the offensive line this year.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we'll see what happens in the draft, but it's like I don't feel terrible about the roster in those positions.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_05]: But at the same time, it's very unproven.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_05]: You know, Surrell showed a lot at the end of the year.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_05]: Call an Oliver, didn't really get the chance to do much of anything.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_05]: Brent and Cox is a pretty good past rush specialist.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_05]: But he was hurt all of last year too, so I'm curious to see how Jonathan Ganon is going to attack the defensive line with the pieces that he has right now.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_06]: It's like that, that room may be more than any other needs to stay healthy this year, because like you said, it's very unproven, and if any one of those guys goes down, we're in a lot of trouble.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, do we do we have any idea?
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: What kind of defense can it's going to run?
- 52:03[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think we have an idea of coverage.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_03]: What is going to run?
- 52:05[SPEAKER_03]: But do we have any clue?
- 52:07[SPEAKER_03]: What is it three, four, four, three?
- 52:09[SPEAKER_05]: Not really.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we talked about it before because he ran a three, four with the Cardinals, but he ran kind of a four, three with the Eagles.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_05]: So he does a little bit of both.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_05]: Something that people were kind of focusing on was Goody at the combine.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_05]: mentioned looking at adding some inside linebackers which would make you think they're leaning into a three four defense.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know we'll see again he's gonna try to play to the strengths.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_05]: We still haven't fucking heard from Jonathan Ganon after he was hired like two months ago so that'll probably happen in April here and that will.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_03]: undoubtedly be like one of the first questions that he is asked because it's been a big talking point recently so we'll see I'm not I'm not just I've been working the entire time has been working on his his welcome speech just electric if you remember that welcome speech to the yeah I don't know you was he because it goes that him becoming head coach is that was that was him becoming
- 53:06[SPEAKER_03]: electric.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I think fans are lower on him than anything.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_05]: Well, if we have time, we'll talk about the player grades, but he got like an as a pretty brutal.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_05]: He got to A from the Cardinals, you know, like his players loved him and put a baker resigned to be there.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_05]: That guy sweat, Montes, sweater, whatever.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_05]: He, he asked for a trade from the Cardinals because because Gannon's gone.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't want to be there anymore because Gannon's no longer
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: Was it Montez sweat with the bears at some point?
- 53:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they traded for him at one point.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_05]: It maybe it's not Montez sweat.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, it's someone like that.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_03]: There are multiple shots.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there you go.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's okay.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_05]: Josh sweat like Jonathan again, and we brought Jonathan Ford back to thinking talking about Jonathan, but who gives a shitty spot and not going to make the team.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_05]: But he's a big fat fucker.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_05]: So at least we have one of them on the team off ball line backers.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_05]: Colby Wooden, remember him?
- 54:04[SPEAKER_05]: Not a packer anymore.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: Not a not a not a ball.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm back already dead.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_05]: God traded him away for Zayir Franklin, the linebacker for the cults.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_05]: He is 29 years old.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_05]: He'll be 30 when the season starts.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_05]: Two years, 18 million, eight million dollar base salary.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_05]: He will wear number of 44.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, it's kind of weird too, um, I think justice was talking about it because we, we made the trade because, you know, we thought the linebacker market might be expensive, you know, Quay Walker getting like 15 million whatever ended up being 13.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_05]: Um, he was cheaper than that.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_05]: But we did give him like a raise too.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_05]: So it's almost like he got traded the Packers and then told him that he was going to hold out if he didn't get a little bit more money.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_05]: So I wonder how true that is, but something to think about.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, older linebacker, not great in coverage, but he's been a pretty good run defender.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_05]: He gets a bunch of tackles.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_05]: He misses a lot of tackles too, John Meerding brought it up how it's tough to kind of judge inside linebackers and we've kind of talked about it a lot too, because it's like you have the Blake Martinez and the AJ Hawks who get a bunch of tackles.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_05]: however they're all five years don't field and someone like Franklin and he was banged up last year to apparently he didn't like the system he was playing in either and he was kind of out of sorts like they had them drop back and pass coverage is a lot.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_05]: but the he's so active the argument is is that he gets himself in position to make tackles and he might not always be in the best position for it and that's why he gets a lot of these missed tackles.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_05]: So again, I'd rather have someone who is, you know, affecting the play some way.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure we'll be cursing his name come to the season.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't hate, especially moving on from Colby Wooden, who was a pretty good packer for a fourth fifth round pick.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he came in was halfway decent at the beginning of the year, but with that body size he just doesn't fit this defense all that much.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad to have another body at inside linebacker instead of going out and paying a free agent or risking it on a rookie.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is I here Franklin one's interesting too because obviously really not an impressive year at all last year, but in 2024 pro roller and like you talk about like how he racks up all these tackles, I watch a little bit of it's hard to find like film that isn't highlights is really hard to find to actually get a feel for what he is.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but it's like he seems to see things really well and he seems athletic enough, but again, like I said, it's like hard to find not highlights.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't really have a good read on it.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody was saying online, too.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, he seems really technically sound.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, I don't know, like seems good.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what the issue was last year if it was just.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know, putting him in coverage over and over again.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_05]: If that's like he was hurt and a new defensive coordinator.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to be fantastic with us.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_05]: There's no way he's shitty in coverage.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_05]: There's no way we're going to be upset.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_03]: And why he won't have a new defensive coordinator this year.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_03]: True.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's well, maybe maybe he's better friends.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe he's not hurt.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, the dude had like 650 tackles total the last four years.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_06]: That's an insane number.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_06]: And he has 50 according to ESPN 54 runstuffs, which I don't know what our linebackers had last year.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_06]: Can't imagine it's anywhere close to double digits.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_06]: So,
- 57:38[SPEAKER_06]: I understand that he's maybe not great in coverage, but that's where Edger and Cooper is pretty good.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_06]: So conceivable, Edger and Cooper is dropping into coverage.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_06]: We bring an extra safety or somebody on if we need somebody else in coverage.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_06]: And we let Sire Franklin be kind of the sea ball get ball line packer.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_06]: So it's a pretty low price to pay.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_06]: Like I'm not convinced that wooden was going to make the team anyway.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_06]: So why not?
- 58:08[SPEAKER_06]: And frankly, the cult fans aren't really convinced that Franklin was going to make the team.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_06]: So why not?
- 58:15[SPEAKER_05]: They hated him.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_05]: They were so many fans were happy when they treated him away.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_06]: see I was just going to ask that's the litmus test is like what do their fans think they basically they basically hated him and coverage and then they would complain that he would make a play and have this big celebration and then the very next play he'd miss a tackle or give up you know some big play and he had a tendency to disappear at times last year I guess so
- 58:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I mean, again, too, like if I was a Cowboys fan, I could even like make myself get excited about the Rashan Gary trade, too, because it's like, it's not like they have a bunch of past rushers that are anyways.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_05]: We brought back Christian Welshments and mentioned that earlier on a super cheap deal.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_05]: Quay Walker, obviously gone three years, 4.5 million with the Raiders, that will net us a fifth round pick.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_05]: He kind of talked shit about the Packers again, like fucking I get too much in the weeds and some things like will Willdy was always a quay walker defender because he like talked a quay when he was really upset before about not playing well blah blah blah
- 59:28[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, if any crashes were Sean Garry, which sure he's earned it, but it's like Quay Walker was not very good the back half of last year, the walkers were like the biggest reasons why, well, end McMahon.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_05]: It's why we lost against the bears.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_05]: Quay just couldn't cover anyone in Chicago.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_05]: After the game, you know, he says, well, you know, when they're talking about the claps, he's like, oh, well, they've been doing that before I've been here and I'm like, okay, well, fuck you, quay your captain.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_05]: Why are you saying shit like this?
- 59:59[SPEAKER_05]: And then it goes to the Raiders and says, yeah, you know, I just need to be used correctly.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't like say that he was used incorrectly, but people really jumped onto that quote where he's like, yeah, as long as I'm used right, you know, I'm a good player, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like,
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_05]: okay fucking whatever quay i'm not gonna like will be was saying uh quay walker if any of the guys who left are gonna are the packers will regret quay walkers the guy and i'm like no fuck no come on he's he's he was given all the opportunity in the world
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_05]: That's all.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_05]: Secondary, we cut Nate Hobbs, gone dead.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_05]: He's on the Niners.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_05]: Little surprising, I thought we would have kept him around just because there wasn't much of a cab savings with that.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was only like $800,000.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_05]: But I think it's just showing you, you know, we've had so many guys in the slot.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_05]: He cannot play outside.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_05]: They wanted him to play outside.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_05]: They just bit the bullet, you know, moving on.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_05]: This is going to be a year.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_05]: We're not going to really talk in a draft shit this episode.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, fuck we've already been going for probably like an hour here, but we're probably going to double dip at corner.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_05]: I don't like carrying to Valentine is in a contractier.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_05]: Kishan Nixon is in a contractier.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_05]: And then after that, it's like, how many fans can actually name the other corners on this roster?
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, come all Hayden, you know, it's fucking Jews who we just sign it will get to, so I wouldn't be surprised if you're hearing it for who?
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's iron-haring.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_05]: Ah, yeah, you're big fan of him.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_03]: I literally just looking at the process here.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_05]: Who will we have is I can't even number no one else is coming to top my head here.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_03]: Do we get dibs on Trayvon digs still?
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_03]: How does that work?
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_05]: Everyone has did has dibs on digs.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_05]: He's currently a free agent still.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_03]: Ah, shoot, say juisty.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_05]: So we signed St. Juisty.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_05]: He was with the chargers last year, right?
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_05]: And before that is with the commanders.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_05]: Two years, $10 million.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_05]: somewhat cheap deal.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_05]: He's more so seen as kind of a specialist later in his career.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_05]: He did start a bunch of games for the commanders and he played sparingly last year.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_05]: But he grated out really, really well on pro football focus.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_05]: He was like a top 30 something corner and a lot of
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_05]: Big thing, I mean again, looking at just the difference in the roster this year versus last year when we're signing more older guys Another thing here.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_05]: We signed eight Hobbes who was an inside corner.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_05]: Try to put them outside didn't work St. Juice
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_05]: he is six three he's a six three corner so he's a big boy he has to play outside he's probably also going to be the zane anderson replacement on special teams as one of the gunners which we can say again because rich basatia is gone he would always call them flyers I don't know if he just doesn't like weapons or what but we can go back to that
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and his one year with the chargers is similar defensive scheme to what Ganon is going to bring.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_05]: He had a 60.9 pass rating when targeted.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_05]: He allowed 19 catches on 40 targets, one touchdown, one INT.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_05]: So don't hate it.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, again, I can't say I love it because I know the fuck this guy was before we signed them, but glad to add a body with some potential in the secondary.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'd say.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_03]: And I would, I also think to like,
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_03]: At least can appreciate the fact that he's not like some GMs and I think we've been critical of Goody before being like hey holding on to guys for too long.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_05]: It's like hey I invest in this guy he's good and then like when it doesn't work out there like he's still good like I wanted to stick around but like Goody has been really good like Jimmy Graham I'm trying to think of guys like Jimmy Graham's one
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_03]: you're talking about guys that he's that he's moved on from that yes that that he that stuck around too long I'm saying oh that stuck around you long yeah and like the box here when like I would that's one where it's like you you don't just let like a boxy are a disappear either so like I can't even fault them for that one the Jimmy grandma was tough uh just it feels he is kind of borderline yeah maybe jay or yeah actually like I disagree on that but I could see the argument
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just like, hey, moving on from Darnell Savage.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_05]: Darnell Savage was bad.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, giving him the fifth year option.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, terrible.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_05]: We beat the Niners in that playoff game.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_05]: If we have some of the besides fucking Darnell Savage.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_06]: But Darnell Savage had the pick six the week before.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we really needed those other seven points against the Cowboys.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_06]: We had to put the starters back in because we started letting them back into the game.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_03]: Was Haha was that Goody's time frame?
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_03]: It had to have had.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, that was one of his first years, but he traded Haha away.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_05]: So he, yeah.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_03]: OK. Hey, Miss, props to Goody for just like moving on.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like, hey, it didn't work.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like, no ties.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_03]: We're just moving on.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_03]: So actually, I like that even though we didn't really say much money, but I just like that philosophy.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just like, see you later.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I don't know.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_03]: I agree to that we were going to have to get some, we need to spend some draft capital at quarter.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_03]: It just has to happen.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_06]: Spencer how many corners do you remember that we've had that have been six three like that's just a body type that we have not had yeah Kevin King I think is six three yeah Kevin King is taller I feel like Devon house might be taller too if not if not he just looked it up before and I was like oh he's short of it I mean that's what I kind of think too but he's tall presenting
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_06]: I tried to ask AI, I tried to ask AI before the podcast, how many other recent corners the Packers have had that were 6, 3.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_06]: It identified Kevin King is one.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_06]: The second one was a mod Carroll who notoriously is the opposite end of the spectrum.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know what to believe.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_05]: God, I mean, Josh Jackson, he was probably tall and he was bad.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was, yeah, like, was he, he was, I don't, he had the longest hours.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, remember his reach was like, he should be six, seven, but I'm, I'm excited for St. Juice because he's like I said that different body type, but I think he's going to be some sneaky good competition for Valentine on the outside.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_06]: Like,
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_06]: The last three years, Valentine's career in the NFL, they've played a remarkably similar number of games and started a remarkably similar number of games and St. Joseph's stats are better across the board, except for interceptions where they're both, they both have two.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_06]: So I think he can compete on the outside with Valentine.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to give you a quick short list of NFL corners over six two.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, Joey Porter Jr. Sir, Tane.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_03]: The second.
- 1:07:15[SPEAKER_03]: Sascarner.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's there.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe others, but I'm just getting you a short list of guys.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe, I don't know, maybe we should talk.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_05]: So in juices taller, oil struck oil, juices taller than them.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_05]: Zam, I'd be even.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_03]: What's going on here?
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_05]: Joy, part of your new six.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, so he's at least as good as Joy, a port or two in here, then.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_03]: At least.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so we'll see on him again, nice little piece, whatever we'll see maybe his bum.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_05]: Come on, little Hayden back, like I said, he tweeted someone that he'll be ready for training camp after breaking his foot or ankle, whatever the fuck it was.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see, then Zane Anderson, did you see who he signed with?
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_05]: I am the Dolphins back with Ryan Downer their secondary and past game coordinator who I think will be a defensive coordinator in the future, but again the pipeline from Green Bay to Miami.
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_05]: Wow, that's it.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_05]: That's all the players.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_05]: Fuck.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_05]: It's just an hour 21 for the recording.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know how much bullshit's at the beginning of that What else was second I say?
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, brand-em-ic man is he's gonna be the kicker unfortunately.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_05]: He got his have her six on the roster.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, they'll have a competition and I I have a feeling.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_05]: I have That's actually pretty good But he got his million dollar bonus for being on the roster same as Josh Jacobs had something built into so he'll for sure be the running back
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's anything else to talk about with the actual team, I'm gonna have take news, uh, yeah, we'll put the, we'll put the drop here.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_05]: All right, take news for the week.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, God.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_05]: We've already gone long.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_05]: We've got a couple things here.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know how much we want to talk about the player grades.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_05]: That might be a little grading or the NFLPA grades.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_05]: Um, maybe we'll wait on that later.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, something more timely.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_05]: Bob Harlan dead.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_05]: He was 89.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_05]: Jesus Christ.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_05]: Rest in peace.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_05]: He was 89 years old, so hey, he lived a nice long life.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_05]: It was announced today that the Packers will install his name in a place of honor on Lambo fields northeast facade.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_05]: So that's pretty cool.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_05]: Glad that that's happening.
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_05]: So that that's inside the stadium with the rest of the other names or I didn't I didn't click the article I just saw that so I don't know I mean it it would be weird if it was on the outside right kind of but I wouldn't hate it either because he's the guy that got that outside shit to get built that's right that's what I'm trying to figure out because everybody on the inside are pro football Hall of Famers or
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_06]: the the ring of honor or whatever it's going.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_05]: Because I run Wolves there, but yeah, like you're saying, he's in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's all it's all the Pro Football Hall of Famers and the the retired numbers.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_06]: That's what it is.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_06]: So, I mean, Harlan unfortunately is not going to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_06]: But
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_06]: They they have to do something.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_06]: I saw people on Reddit saying that they should build a mistatu to put out next to Vince and curly.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_05]: And that probably because I don't know how many packer fans, you know, no Bob Harlaner, all the deep stuff that he did, but it's like, yeah, he's it for our generation, the chicken and the egg question is who's more important to the Packers
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_05]: And then it's like Bob Harlan hired Ron Wolfe and he told, you know, he was one of the reasons why we got back serious into football because it was something where he like literally went in and told the board, hey, you guys are done making decisions.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_05]: We have to hand over football control to Ron Wolfe.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_05]: or he's not going to sign with us, and if he doesn't sign with us this time, because he previously had turned it down, because they wouldn't change with the structure, then it's going to be out there that it's never going to change, and we're never going to be able to get a good general manager like this.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_05]: And obviously, I mean, it changed the entire franchise round.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_05]: So it's one bringing in Ron Wolfe, which was huge.
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_05]: And then the whole Brown County getting the money to build up the stadium and everything again in 2003.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_05]: If that doesn't happen, the Packers might be put as well.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like several things that he did save this franchise.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_05]: And he was always just known as a good dude to the big thing that a lot of people have said is you could like call him when he was president of the Packers.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_05]: like he answered the phone from fans and he would like listen to them bitch back in the day and I assume he like grew up in the green bay too but like no one ever had a bad thing to say about Bob Harlan.
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_06]: He's he's not from green bay originally.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_06]: I'm trying to remember I read his his autobiography.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_06]: um i believe he went to market and then he's born into moind he was born born into moind went to market he worked for the St. Louis baseball cardinals um and like their front office and then the packers hired him and he kind of worked his way up but
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_06]: the the thing that's always interested me Spencer you mentioned the the brown county vote in in the early 2000s for the The Lambo renovation like everybody always talks about how much green Bay loves the Packers and the fans love the team Yeah, fans on the team and everything close that vote was super close and so the amount of time that that man spent like knocking on doors and talking to folks that
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_06]: You know, the grocery store community events or whatever to drum up the vote, like, if not for his efforts, like, I texted one of my friends when I found out that he passed like he, in my opinion, saved the modern day Packers.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we've got a question.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_06]: They,
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_06]: Either they're just not a franchise anymore, they move to Milwaukee, you know, who knows what the NFL could have strong arm the Packers into doing if they just were not going to be a successful franchise.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_05]: Could you imagine if it was Mark Murphy?
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, we got.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_05]: They would be gone.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_05]: They absolutely would be gone.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I mean, the three most important people in the history of the Green Bay Packers, I would say, and yeah, it's Utahd.
- 1:13:42[SPEAKER_05]: That's why it was.
- 1:13:42[SPEAKER_05]: It's Vince Lombard.
- 1:13:43[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's curly Lambo, Vince Lombardy, and Bob Harlan.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_05]: Like that is in some order.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_05]: In some order, like those are probably the top three guys.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_05]: And then obviously that's, you know, almost obviously curly Lambo played.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_05]: Was the coach, but started the team.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_05]: Lombardy was just the coach.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_05]: And then Bob Harlan was just a guy who is like picking dudes to hire and staying out of football ship, but making sure that football could, you know, continue to grow in Green Bay.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_05]: if you were to have like a Mount Rushmore and have fourth like a fourth person it would be podcasters yeah yeah absolutely yeah we've we've only done good for the brand the life blood the packers um so yeah RIP Bob Harlan real bummer that they're going to unveil it
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they're good.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_05]: So that it must not be in the bowl.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_05]: Now I'm really fucking curious where they're going to put it because they're going to have like an unveiling I thought during what kind of the stadium was it going to be north.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's where like all of the shit is that they built I guess if if you were going to put it on the north side of the stadium outside that would make sense.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_05]: It would be funny if like at half time they're doing then veiling and they have a live camera of outside the stadium.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_05]: So when they pull the fucking curtain down, everyone can cheer.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just like trying it because like, would you put it on like the back side of the scoreboard on the north side?
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's just going to look out of place.
- 1:15:15[SPEAKER_06]: Like, you know, you have the big G up there.
- 1:15:17[SPEAKER_06]: Like you're just going to put Bob Harlin's name under the G like that's you put it under the
- 1:15:27[SPEAKER_03]: Lambo Field and then you've got the big giant clock at the Bellin Health Gate.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_05]: Perfect.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_03]: That's there's no good place for it.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_03]: It has to go.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_06]: Whenever whenever they do it, I hope they do it a game that Kevin Harlin is calling either for CBS or or Westwood one on the rail.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_05]: I have a feeling he will be there for the game one
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's his father.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, sticking with more fun president stuff.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_05]: I guess which one do you want first?
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_05]: Do you want Mark Murphy or do you want Ed policy?
- 1:16:09[SPEAKER_03]: Give me Mark.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_05]: Mark Murphy.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_05]: Let's keep it light.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_05]: So Mark Murphy.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_05]: I don't like them.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to say hey, them, but I really don't like them.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_05]: Another thing popped up this week.
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think anyone's really reported this.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_05]: Willie went on the radio on Jen gave in Chewie.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_05]: I think and they were talking about the whole Tush push thing because the meetings are coming up and it doesn't seem like the Tush push band is going to be pushed again.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_06]: So, they're not going to push the push, push the push, push, man.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_05]: So, they brought, uh, they were talking about that, and then Wildy had this to say, and again, I don't, I was seeing this same shit last year that I bet it's going on that it shouldn't be a distraction, and this is what Wildy had to say about what was going on last year when Mark Murphy pushed that rule change after the NFL pushed him to push for the push change.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_00]: later on after that failed when I, you know, there are multiple people on the record saying, yeah, the league has to do it.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think that really, I think that really you're taking a floor and goody and I'm not saying that it ruined their relationship with Mark Murphy, obviously.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I think they were.
- 1:17:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think the football people were really annoyed that they got put in that position of being like the face of the Tush push ban movement.
- 1:17:31[SPEAKER_05]: So again, it's, I mean, it's a little thing there, but even the eagle, going into the eagle is game this past year.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_05]: It was like a narrative that it's like, oh, it's the Packers first.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_05]: The eagle's the Packers wanted to band the Tish Push, and they're like, maybe the eagles are going to start the game and do like three straight Tish Pushers, and it was like, again, so cool.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_05]: It's again what I just didn't like about Mark Murphy is like he created distractions for no good reason on multiple occasions and especially that one What does that do to benefit the greenbie packers to ban the push push?
- 1:18:00[SPEAKER_05]: No, it was him trying to fucking, you know, have his wheels greased by the NFL and Roger Gadell
- 1:18:06[SPEAKER_05]: by going out and putting forth this rule change, which you can give a shit about, but the NFL is trying to parade this whole, oh, player safety bullshit.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_05]: When that isn't even proven either, like no, it's really gotten hurt on a fucking push push, and then we become a laughing stock posties, because we're the ones that bring up the rule change.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_05]: So again, I just fucking, I don't, I don't like
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_06]: I was going to say it's Mark Murphy trying to do a sweet heart deal for the NFL because he knows he's on his way out He's not going to have to hear all the criticism, but I think what's funny is that game against the Eagles We ran the Tush push.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_06]: We did not run the Tush push well, but we did try to run the Tush push in that game.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_06]: Was it we ran the Tucker push is it the Tucker push?
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_06]: I Thought it was the Tucker push.
- 1:18:51[SPEAKER_06]: We tried running it with with Jordan love to but oh, maybe
- 1:18:56[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 1:18:56[SPEAKER_05]: That game fucking sucked.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_05]: That was like my favorite game all year.
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_05]: One, it's because, um, oh, no, it wasn't Tucker because Tucker tore his ACL the week before.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_05]: Um, because it was going in that week.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, OK, are we going to change the offense?
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_05]: No, that we lost Tucker and the run game didn't work last week?
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_05]: No, we're going to keep trying to run the ball and it's not going to work at all.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_05]: And we scored fucking seven points, I think.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_03]: It was a good game plan.
- 1:19:21[SPEAKER_05]: Now, what are you going to do?
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, and policy stuff, I'll try to rip through this, but I don't know if you guys saw this.
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_05]: You heard this, but the whole naming of Lambo field came up recently.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_05]: There's been a lot of talk because of privatized money or whatever, and then a fell.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_05]: I forget what the actual smart term is for it.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_05]: but team selling off portions of the franchise to get more money that they can put back in the team or the owner can just keep and obviously the Green Bay Packers aren't able to do that.
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_05]: So at Policy Talk to some business magazine, I forgot if it was like business insider, some other bullshit.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_05]: Um, but he had a couple interesting things to say, I'll read a bit here in a recent interview with Ben Brischer of Sports Business Journal Packers, President and CEO at Policy Express Construm that the Packers are at a disadvantage when it comes to increasing full of money that the 31 other franchises are in position to capture quote.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_05]: If you think about it, any other team they've got deep pocketed owners, most of them are worth the significantly more than that or they could sell less than 10% of their team.
- 1:20:22[SPEAKER_05]: Give up no controlling interest and raise a heck of a lot more money than that.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_05]: He then goes on to talk about naming rights.
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_05]: We're soon to be the only stadium without naming rights policy said.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_05]: That's not a threshold we're looking to cross any time soon, but we might be a little more aggressive of some of the other entitlement inventory.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_05]: We just hadn't taken advantage of in the past, including things like training facility entitlements and the title count campus.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_05]: Again, so there's more that I'm going to read here, Mark Murphy has never put together a paragraph like that in his fucking life.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_05]: Like Ed policy knows how to fucking talk like an actual NFL, I don't know, front office person.
- 1:21:04[SPEAKER_03]: Is that scary though to have somebody who knows what they're doing at the top?
- 1:21:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that might make some people nervous.
- 1:21:11[SPEAKER_05]: probably probably people are bad at their job than I don't know.
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_05]: One way to raise money is to raise ticket prices this year and this is not a quote, this is just part of the article this year.
- 1:21:20[SPEAKER_06]: This is this is Florial for Pro football talk.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_05]: Very good.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:21:25[SPEAKER_05]: This year.
- 1:21:25[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I mean, he's also right, unfortunately.
- 1:21:28[SPEAKER_05]: This year face values for the Packers home games are rising by 3 to 7 to 11%.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_05]: And there's more meat on the bone given that the basic realities of supply and demand.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_05]: and then policy has last quote, despite the fact that we're probably a top three team in terms of demand, we are middle of the pack in terms of price.
- 1:21:46[SPEAKER_05]: So again, it's just, and it is something that I've bitched about with Merc Murphy, but he's never vocalized reasons for how the packers are doing things.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_05]: Um, because we've raised ticket prices like the last 15 years every year besides COVID, and we did it again, but again, you see why they have to raise ticket prices because we don't, you know, the team needs money, at least to have it that ready to gain, they fund, and there is a possibility of the future.
- 1:22:12[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, fucking everything's going to be named at Lambo at some point, and maybe at, you know, prob.
- 1:22:19[SPEAKER_05]: Potentially in her lifetimes, maybe it's like the Miller light Lambo field or something like that.
- 1:22:26[SPEAKER_05]: I would hope if it ever does come to that that they pick it was Wisconsin company or something that brands well with it, but I don't know if there's a line hot dogs.
- 1:22:37[SPEAKER_05]: What was it?
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's a line hot dogs.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_03]: They make hot dogs.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_03]: No, but you could, hey, go to the Invisaline Hotdogs to get your favorite Invisaline Hotdogs.
- 1:22:51[SPEAKER_06]: Sorry, Spencer, I thought you were going to read the quote from Florio where he specifically floats the idea of, Oh, the Packers may be selling the naming rights to Lambo Field sooner later, which,
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_06]: Everybody read that and I think overreacted when I read policies, quotes, it's like, they're going to rename the they're going to sell the naming rights on the Bell and Health Center.
- 1:23:13[SPEAKER_06]: Are they're going to read sense sell the naming rights on the Don Hots and Center or whatever.
- 1:23:17[SPEAKER_06]: It's like fine.
- 1:23:18[SPEAKER_06]: I don't care.
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_06]: But based on
- 1:23:21[SPEAKER_06]: Policies comment about they're going to be the only team in the NFL with a stadium that doesn't have its naming rights sold like to me He recognizes that that's unique and special and not something that they want to do so I'm not worried about the the Lambo field naming rights getting sold anytime in our lives
- 1:23:41[SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's why I focused on what policy said, and I'm going to give a shit of what Florio said.
- 1:23:45[SPEAKER_05]: But again, at the same time, he did say that that's a threshold that they don't want to cross.
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_05]: But if this shit keeps up, I mean, again, and it's not like that ever publicly talk about it.
- 1:23:55[SPEAKER_05]: But I'm sure it's all related one way or the other, because we know what we've been bitching about coaches, not coming up and paying for a lot of coaches.
- 1:24:01[SPEAKER_05]: Again, will be, I think we talked about it last month that, um,
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_05]: not paying up for coordinators might have been one of the reasons why Joe Barry was a fucking defensive coordinator and their pinched pennies in that way so that they can still have millions of dollars that they can use in other ways so it's like we potentially have already seen some of this and again like if the salary cap keeps going up and there's even talks if they do somehow they're able to renegotiate early on this next TV deal that the salary cap could go up like 50 percent.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_05]: like that's good for the players and all that, but again, it's like then there's the huge discrepancy of what's coming in for the NFL and the players, but then at the same time, it's not like the Packers are able to queue up.
- 1:24:43[SPEAKER_05]: It's once again why our facilities were a little old, you know, we wait on a couple of these things to upgrade, just because we don't have those deep pockets that owners have.
- 1:24:52[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like you wonder if we can, and that's what
- 1:24:56[SPEAKER_05]: if we fall behind in those ways when everyone else is able to generate money and they don't have to have to worry about coming short and certain areas.
- 1:25:04[SPEAKER_06]: Do you know how much money the packers made in the last stock sale off the top of your head?
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_06]: No, not the stock sale.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_05]: No, obviously they can do that too, but that has to get approved by the NFL.
- 1:25:16[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 1:25:17[SPEAKER_06]: That was going to be my response.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_06]: I understand like when you're talking about private equity by 10% of a team, like the dolphins just sold off 10% or whatever.
- 1:25:26[SPEAKER_06]: And
- 1:25:26[SPEAKER_06]: Basically, it placed the valuation of their franchise at some ungodly amount of $12 billion, $12 billion is what it was valued out after what sold.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_06]: So I get that, you know, if they bought 10% thing conceivably, they sold 10% for $1.2 billion.
- 1:25:44[SPEAKER_06]: I know that the Packers aren't making 1.2 billion in a stock sale, but that seems to be the only regular mechanism the Packers have for a quick injection of cash because naming rights deals something that you typically sell for 20 or 25 years.
- 1:26:14[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so that's not that's a lot of money to people like us, but compared to what the dolphins, I I understand where policy is coming from like the dolphins can sell 10% of their franchise for 1.2 billion like good lord the packers are never going to compete with that.
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see.
- 1:26:35[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know something to monitor.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure there will be more especially come when they have the stockholder meeting.
- 1:26:41[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure more questions will be asked and it seems policies a little bit more open with the immediate to I'm sure he'll be talking to them.
- 1:26:47[SPEAKER_05]: Well, fuck we have the owners meeting coming up is the first one he'll be attending.
- 1:26:50[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see if anything comes from that.
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_05]: with that, that's it, don't have anything else, the draft is April 23rd, so we're a little over a month away from that.
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I feel like before it seemed like the draft took forever until it was here and now it's like, oh, it's draft time.
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's true.
- 1:27:14[SPEAKER_03]: Did any of you, did you guys watch the combat?
- 1:27:16[SPEAKER_05]: No, yeah, you're You're on your combat.
- 1:27:19[SPEAKER_03]: I watched.
- 1:27:20[SPEAKER_03]: I watched the cubies.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_03]: I watched the running backs.
- 1:27:24[SPEAKER_03]: I watched.
- 1:27:25[SPEAKER_03]: It was a skills day that I watched.
- 1:27:28[SPEAKER_06]: So a lot of positions without a lot of needs for us.
- 1:27:34[SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't like picking a day to watch it just happened to be on TV and I was like, oh, I'll watch this this fun to watch it's fun to see I do actually really like watching the QB's throw and being like this guy sucks or like, oh, this guy is good like I have no idea but it's like fun to like sit there and go I don't think this guy's got are you yelling down the road wide receivers all you ran the post to flat you idiot
- 1:27:59[SPEAKER_03]: My favorite thing is just watching the deep balls and just being like, and that white guy from Penn State, he ain't got it.
- 1:28:06[SPEAKER_03]: That kid from LSU, he can chuck bombs.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's fun to watch.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_05]: It's not the same thing, but like, what I always remember, because the whole, like, what I always say, it's like, I don't know how you figure, you know.
- 1:28:18[SPEAKER_05]: these football players get worse or better after the football is done being played.
- 1:28:23[SPEAKER_05]: You know, like draft boards, people get always go up and down.
- 1:28:26[SPEAKER_05]: Measure bulls.
- 1:28:27[SPEAKER_05]: I understand, but it's like, I, the, it's one of my favorite off-season shit for that was like,
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_05]: Andrew Luck, Todd, you remember getting chased by brooms at his pro-day and the other was how like TJ Bridge or Teddy Bridgewater had the worst pro-day ever and now he was like undraftable and then he because he was gonna be like I don't know
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_05]: A mid first round pick and then also need dropped to like the end of the first round which I think people thought it was gonna go in like the second round But it was like one practice one practice all of a sudden you're gonna be like no this guy can't play football It's just I think it most of it is a lot of bullshit
- 1:29:05[SPEAKER_03]: I will say there is some things that I feel like do matter like if you have a guy who's playing in like double A, and then you get to see like okay how fast is this for you like does it measure up to like what we how fast he looks on tape you know he's playing against guys that will never play you know on Sunday so it's like you it's like for that it's like fun to see
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_06]: Um, so I don't even just there is some fun as just heighten weight because how many programs over estimate.
- 1:29:34[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, this this left tackle he's six eight and three hundred and forty pounds, and then they measure him on at the combine and he's always six six three five.
- 1:29:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:29:45[SPEAKER_03]: And then like, I don't know, it's just fun to watch the 40.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_03]: Also, just to just, it's just a fun to see you guys run the 40.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I don't the combined seems to be dying more and more too, because less and less players are going to it.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_03]: And they just wait for the problem because, yeah, because the guys will or they just don't, they don't want to risk anything.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like men does it just he stretched with like the stretch with the other he's good doing it that is the number one He's the nicest guy in the world though.
- 1:30:11[SPEAKER_03]: Like when you hear him talk you're like, oh, it's guys just like he is he's He's cousins with better PR.
- 1:30:17[SPEAKER_06]: He makes me I can't stand listening to him talk.
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_06]: I I hate him.
- 1:30:23[SPEAKER_05]: I don't understand what This is Billy off.
- 1:30:27[SPEAKER_05]: It is like the most random things
- 1:30:29[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, what the week has been all he talks about, all he talks in his cliches, everything that's ever happened to him is because of God, and I will yeah, but that's just how that's not it's just how his brain works.
- 1:30:46[SPEAKER_06]: I don't like it.
- 1:30:47[SPEAKER_06]: You don't like it.
- 1:30:51[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not saying he's going to be a flop.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, we get a Billy.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_05]: It's an anti-God guy.
- 1:30:55[SPEAKER_05]: We understand with that.
- 1:31:01[SPEAKER_05]: Goodbye.
- 1:31:01[SPEAKER_05]: That's the episode.
- 1:31:02[SPEAKER_05]: I got I think this is might be a long one.
- 1:31:05[SPEAKER_05]: What do you have?
- 1:31:06[SPEAKER_06]: One last thing.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_06]: Put a ball on the conversation.
- 1:31:08[SPEAKER_06]: So Mark, you are a God guy.
- 1:31:10[SPEAKER_06]: No, Bob Harland's name is going to be placed on the inside of the stadium in the northeast corner next to Ted Thompson's or that.
- 1:31:20[SPEAKER_06]: Cool.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so.
- 1:31:22[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, I'm all about.
- 1:31:24[SPEAKER_06]: I from all the other players and retired numbers.
- 1:31:26[SPEAKER_05]: I forgot Ted is in there.
- 1:31:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because that would make sense obviously and he's not he's not an all-famous okay cool good to know real quick before we wrap this up If I can just yeah, yeah, I'm really okay.
- 1:31:40[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so No, Apollo we talked a little bit about him wider silver coach from University Minnesota Duluth
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_03]: He was also played wire super there and stuff.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_03]: They did in 2010, they did a little story on him.
- 1:31:54[SPEAKER_03]: One of the questions they asked him so as a lot of his favorites, the opponents, video game, all this other stuff.
- 1:32:03[SPEAKER_03]: food.
- 1:32:03[SPEAKER_03]: What do you any and this is relevant to Spencer specifically.
- 1:32:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's a cheeseburger guy.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_03]: Favorite food and I'll give you it's not like a meal.
- 1:32:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's a thing that you get at the grocery store.
- 1:32:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's very cheap.
- 1:32:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's his favorite food and it's appalling to me.
- 1:32:23[SPEAKER_03]: So that might give you I can't think of something on the top of my head in college We would go to the grocery store and you would always get a package of these and I was like, that's garbage.
- 1:32:34[SPEAKER_03]: Why are you?
- 1:32:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm gonna just tell me be fun dogs fun dogs really.
- 1:32:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was only a few falls think
- 1:32:43[SPEAKER_03]: Spencer would go we would go to the grocery store together and Whatever back then you could spend a hundred dollars in eat for like three weeks and Spencer would get the 97 cent thing of fund dogs and just he would microwave him too So that's just like some crappy off-brand of hot dog.
- 1:33:01[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you don't know what fund dogs are There's hot dogs are like a buck 50 for a package fund dogs are like
- 1:33:09[SPEAKER_05]: It's one of the brands where you know what you're getting by the branding like it was a white label with like a winner dog on it and like Pokeda dog There was like color.
- 1:33:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Pokeda colors.
- 1:33:21[SPEAKER_05]: They're just like we know this is shit.
- 1:33:22[SPEAKER_06]: We know this is all pig butt holes and feet I was gonna say sort of a site of then we interdog meat in the in the fun dogs
- 1:33:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I could have been actually I didn't look at the nutrition facts at the back.
- 1:33:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I was I used to be a big hot dog guy in middle school in middle school I would have a hot dog for breakfast like every single day That's so I don't know how I stayed so skinny when I like all throughout high school I was just a fucking twig to I don't know how I never gained much way I should be much heavier than I am now too very shitty.
- 1:33:53[SPEAKER_05]: I eat
- 1:33:53[SPEAKER_05]: Um, it could be a goodbye.
- 1:33:56[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, leave a five star review on Spotify or iTunes, whatever you can leave a comment on Spotify.
- 1:34:01[SPEAKER_05]: We did have one from Logan.
- 1:34:04[SPEAKER_05]: Last week who said, baby come back.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going insane without my weekly professional insight into the Packers.
- 1:34:09[SPEAKER_05]: I can only listen to Peter Bikowski and Aaron Nagler so much before I bash my head into a wall.
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_05]: Well said, and if you're ever looking for more concentrated, I mean, blue 58.
- 1:34:20[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, John Mirting's podcast.
- 1:34:22[SPEAKER_03]: Don't go anywhere else.
- 1:34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Wait for us.
- 1:34:26[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, and then when Andy Herman has just us on, I think on Monday's or Tuesday's.
- 1:34:31[SPEAKER_05]: That's always good to listen to, but I never listened to Andy at any other point.
- 1:34:36[SPEAKER_05]: That's it.
- 1:34:37[SPEAKER_05]: You guys got anything else?
- 1:34:38[SPEAKER_05]: He literally list fund out.
- 1:34:40[SPEAKER_05]: What's the quote about fund dogs?
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, it's like his favorites, opponents.
- 1:34:44[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, really?
- 1:34:45[SPEAKER_03]: St.
- 1:34:45[SPEAKER_03]: Cloud State, professional athlete, professional sports scene, past time, favorite movie.
- 1:34:51[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I was going to say stepbrothers.
- 1:34:54[SPEAKER_03]: Favorite singer or group?
- 1:34:56[SPEAKER_03]: You're never going to get this one.
- 1:34:57[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, AR.
- 1:34:58[SPEAKER_05]: Jesus.
- 1:34:58[SPEAKER_05]: He is the widest.
- 1:35:00[SPEAKER_03]: Not white television show.
- 1:35:04[SPEAKER_05]: The off-brands.
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_03]: On Trash.
- 1:35:08[SPEAKER_05]: OK, so cool.
- 1:35:09[SPEAKER_05]: He's cool.
- 1:35:13[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:35:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like he does seem he seems relatable for like a northern Minnesota guy, right?
- 1:35:21[SPEAKER_05]: Like isn't that like I wonder if we like ever brush in college ever like rushed elbows with him at the sports garden in Duluth.
- 1:35:29[SPEAKER_03]: How old is this guy?
- 1:35:30[SPEAKER_03]: Definitely not he would have been maybe when I was a coach he was a bit of a predator.
- 1:35:38[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say he wasn't his favorite person he'd like to meet, LeBron James.
- 1:35:46[SPEAKER_03]: This is in 2010 also, okay.
- 1:35:48[SPEAKER_03]: So we have to, we have to reel it in.
- 1:35:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, really good answer.
- 1:35:51[SPEAKER_05]: We needed to hear their, what else, favorite color, blue, sport, sport I'd like to try some day.
- 1:35:57[SPEAKER_03]: Polo.
- 1:35:57[SPEAKER_03]: I can't, I would never have said that.
- 1:36:00[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's done a bunch of options, any of them.
- 1:36:02[SPEAKER_06]: That's the one where you're riding a horse.
- 1:36:06[SPEAKER_06]: I can't even get my other horse and do other things.
- 1:36:10[SPEAKER_05]: How old is he?
- 1:36:11[SPEAKER_05]: Which one of these billies age?
- 1:36:14[SPEAKER_06]: Well, if he was in the loop in 2010, then he was, he's got to be older than me.
- 1:36:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so this is from this bulldog spotlight, or no Apolly, is from September 22, 2010.
- 1:36:32[SPEAKER_03]: When he was a ad to a Venice when he was a student.
- 1:36:36[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, yeah, then he's he's yeah, like a year or two older than he had to have been a senior because he played in the 2008 championship game Okay, he's yeah, he's a year to older than me He was born in 19 90
- 1:36:54[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, shit.
- 1:36:55[SPEAKER_05]: I'm older than you.
- 1:36:56[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't born in 1990.
- 1:36:58[SPEAKER_05]: A. I says no, Paul is exactly.
- 1:37:00[SPEAKER_05]: No, Paul is exact age is not publicly of people.
- 1:37:05[SPEAKER_05]: But he was, he graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 2012, which suggests he was likely born on 1990 and 1991.
