- 1:08Speaker 1: So finally I finally came all these years, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 1: you know, always in the check, which she reminds me,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I said the check and always I finally, I finally came.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I brought my wife, my wife. So now because I
- 1:21Speaker 1: brought my wife, you'll see us every year now, Holly. Yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I knew. I shed so much. I was so happy
- 1:31Speaker 1: to see you guys there. And first of all, let
- 1:33Speaker 1: me say thank you for insesting your hard earned dollars
- 1:37Speaker 1: uh into Holly Rod. And we can't do what we
- 1:40Speaker 1: do for twenty plus years without people like yourself, who's
- 1:44Speaker 1: just You're You're one of those yes guys. And I
- 1:46Speaker 1: mean that in a good way, Like I hear a
- 1:48Speaker 1: lot of nose in philanthropy because it's basically creative begging
- 1:51Speaker 1: and calling around asking for money for your cause. And
- 1:56Speaker 1: every single time I think I've just lightly asked you,
- 2:00Speaker 1: it's just been, of course, yes, no problem, where do
- 2:02Speaker 1: I send it? So I want to thank you for that,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and I'm just it really did thrilled me to see
- 2:06Speaker 1: you in the house, actually be able to say your name.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And she's so funny because you know, she calls out
- 2:12Speaker 1: different people who've donated, you know, and she called out
- 2:16Speaker 1: my name with the with the with the with the
- 2:18Speaker 1: feeling that I wasn't there. Rashan McDonald, Sam here. Oh,
- 2:23Speaker 1: he's here because she's called out that name so many years.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Rashan McDonald crickets, crickets, crickets different than it's just really
- 2:38Speaker 1: it was just awesome to have you all in the house. Well,
- 2:40Speaker 1: first of all, first of all, I'm proud to be
- 2:43Speaker 1: a part of something. Let's make the announce smith that
- 2:46Speaker 1: is without on the press release it back in UH.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The charity this year raised seven hundred thousand dollars for
- 2:53Speaker 1: the Holly Robinson Pete and Family UH for autism and
- 2:57Speaker 1: Parkinson correct. Mm hmm, that's right. Now. You know, we
- 3:01Speaker 1: we felt short of our goals, UM, but we're gonna
- 3:04Speaker 1: We've been trying to hit that million mark for several
- 3:08Speaker 1: years now. But you know what, but we feel like
- 3:11Speaker 1: we every year we learned every year we get new partners.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We had got some new partners this year, and we
- 3:17Speaker 1: we we get we get We talked to our partners
- 3:19Speaker 1: after we asked them what they think of the charity,
- 3:22Speaker 1: the event, and we build on that. So we're very
- 3:25Speaker 1: confident that we're going to hit that goal next year. Well,
- 3:27Speaker 1: first of all, a seven hundred thousand dollars is UH
- 3:30Speaker 1: is a proud number. For Rashan McDonald's say on this
- 3:33Speaker 1: show Money Making Conversations, I know your goal is a million,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and I'm there to next year to contribute to make
- 3:39Speaker 1: sure we get closer to the number or past that
- 3:41Speaker 1: million dollar mark, because now I know the goal. So
- 3:44Speaker 1: you know, I didn't know the goal. All I did
- 3:45Speaker 1: was right to check. So now I know the goal.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So my motivation has to be different. Now you know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: brand awareness and so in short, to tell people about
- 3:55Speaker 1: what exactly the foundation does. So hollywrid Foundation was started
- 4:00Speaker 1: like twenties, almost twenty three years ago because of my father.
- 4:03Speaker 1: My father, Matthew Robinson knew a lot of people at
- 4:05Speaker 1: a certain age will remember as the original Gordon on
- 4:08Speaker 1: Sessme Street, which just celebrated at fifty at the anniversary,
- 4:11Speaker 1: which is pretty amazing. Um. And my dad was a
- 4:16Speaker 1: television pioneer. He was really the first one of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: first black men on TV in that role. I mean
- 4:23Speaker 1: those of you who are over fifty will remember that.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You know, there really wasn't much diversity in children's television
- 4:28Speaker 1: or television period back then, and my dad came along
- 4:32Speaker 1: and really changed the game as the not just the
- 4:35Speaker 1: star Gordon and the first person you saw in the
- 4:38Speaker 1: first episode of Tesseme Street, but also an executive producer
- 4:41Speaker 1: and somebody who wrote and had made a had a
- 4:44Speaker 1: muppet called Roosevelt Franklin. It's really part of that culture.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Um Later on he ended up writing and producing many
- 4:51Speaker 1: shows like Stamford and Sons of Walton's, Eight Is Enough
- 4:54Speaker 1: and The Cosby Show. And then he Um was diagnosed
- 4:58Speaker 1: with Parkinson's at the young age of forty eight years old,
- 5:02Speaker 1: maybe even forty forty six. We didn't know what it
- 5:05Speaker 1: was yet, so he gets Parkinson's. I was a freshman
- 5:09Speaker 1: in college. Um I didn't really know what to do
- 5:11Speaker 1: about that, but we later on when I met and
- 5:13Speaker 1: Mary Rodney Pete, he helped show me that we needed
- 5:17Speaker 1: to start a nonprofit to get the word out because
- 5:19Speaker 1: there was not much information about Parkinson's and helping families.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So that's what happened. Then later on our twins are born,
- 5:26Speaker 1: our j was diagnosed with autism, and we knew we
- 5:28Speaker 1: had to share expand our mission to autism. So we
- 5:32Speaker 1: helped families with compassionate care for both autism and Parkinson's disease.
- 5:37Speaker 1: With the funds that we raised last year, we were
- 5:38Speaker 1: able to open our J's Place, our very first one
- 5:40Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, which will help prepare young people on
- 5:44Speaker 1: the spectrum to get jobs and see in the workforce.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So that's what we're doing, and we're really proud of
- 5:49Speaker 1: the work we're doing, and we have a lot more
- 5:50Speaker 1: to go, a lot more things to do. Well. You know,
- 5:52Speaker 1: the thing about it is that I recommend everybody I'm
- 5:56Speaker 1: on the band wagon in eighteen moving into uh PRE promoted,
- 6:01Speaker 1: to get the word out early, because I know that's
- 6:03Speaker 1: how you hit the million dollar mark. You don't get
- 6:04Speaker 1: to hit million dollar mark just just doing an event
- 6:07Speaker 1: and walking away. You have to continue expand the brand.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Let advertisers know. And that's why I wanted to make
- 6:12Speaker 1: this part of the interview. We're gonna talk about the
- 6:14Speaker 1: Christmas TV special coming up. But the thing about it
- 6:17Speaker 1: that my walk away from the event was that I
- 6:20Speaker 1: smiled the whole time, a good time the whole time.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It felt like family. When r J came out, that's
- 6:26Speaker 1: her son came out and adapt up Magic Johnson, that
- 6:30Speaker 1: felt like a routine that has been happening and part
- 6:33Speaker 1: of the presentation and Magic sitting right there front and
- 6:36Speaker 1: center for years. It just felt like, you know, the
- 6:39Speaker 1: whole um they hold up, the whole set up with
- 6:42Speaker 1: with Rodney hosting, and and you know, you know, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you're you're you're the extreme professional. You know you can
- 6:48Speaker 1: add lib and and Rodney, you know, he knows how
- 6:51Speaker 1: to call an audible. He knows how to right. He knows,
- 6:55Speaker 1: he he knows how to he knows he's gonna get
- 6:59Speaker 1: sacked out there hanging out with you. He knows because
- 7:02Speaker 1: it's because back stage I'll be wearing him out because
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm like, what happened to you? When you're a quarterback?
- 7:08Speaker 1: You's got to be ready for those hot reads, those audibles.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You gotta change the call the line of streament because
- 7:12Speaker 1: you know, some phase weren't working in order. And I'm
- 7:15Speaker 1: like he he was like wait because you know he
- 7:17Speaker 1: likes plays like if you don't, just roll with the punches. So,
- 7:22Speaker 1: but we get to we have a lot of fun
- 7:24Speaker 1: on stage, and we do have a room full of
- 7:26Speaker 1: really amazing people like yourself who understand our mission and
- 7:29Speaker 1: we couldn't do it without you guys. I want to
- 7:31Speaker 1: make announcement because a couple of guests could not be
- 7:33Speaker 1: announced to actually performed there that did an amazing performance
- 7:37Speaker 1: because at the time that person was still in competition
- 7:41Speaker 1: for America's Got Talent. Correct the announcement of who that
- 7:45Speaker 1: was and why his performance was so amazing. Well, I
- 7:49Speaker 1: think many of us saw Cody Lee from America's Got
- 7:52Speaker 1: Talent when he went viral. It was something like thirty
- 7:54Speaker 1: million views. And I'm not even under exaggerating over exaggerating.
- 7:58Speaker 1: He when he staying came out blind with autism and
- 8:02Speaker 1: sang uh and that audition uh and busted out with
- 8:06Speaker 1: that Donny Hathaway song. We weren't ready, I mean, nobody
- 8:09Speaker 1: was ready and it just it went viral and it
- 8:12Speaker 1: was amazing, and it was really incumbent upon America's Got
- 8:14Speaker 1: Talent to really slow down the expectations of that because
- 8:18Speaker 1: it was so viral. So when he went very viral,
- 8:22Speaker 1: a lot of people like myself in the whole world
- 8:24Speaker 1: were organ were very touched for about, you know, what
- 8:28Speaker 1: was going on. So I reached out to Cody League
- 8:30Speaker 1: and his mom and they responded and said that the
- 8:32Speaker 1: show would allow them a couple of appearances. Um, and
- 8:36Speaker 1: that was it because they were stilly competition, which, of
- 8:39Speaker 1: course we now know that he ended up winning and
- 8:41Speaker 1: he chose Holly Ride to perform um and he also
- 8:44Speaker 1: chose perfectly. They made the perfect choices, uh to perform
- 8:48Speaker 1: with Layla Hathaway, which makes absolute sense. So Laylah and
- 8:51Speaker 1: I were talking about, you know, we're friends and how
- 8:53Speaker 1: amazing this kid is and was so now he's in
- 8:55Speaker 1: Vegas performing Cody's League and um, he's just phenomenal. But
- 8:59Speaker 1: he was a game change and having him at Design
- 9:02Speaker 1: Care was extra extra special. We also had Cameo perform,
- 9:06Speaker 1: which was extremely amazing. I loved Cameo and thank you
- 9:08Speaker 1: Larry Blacken for coming um. And the other thing that
- 9:11Speaker 1: we loved about Cody Lee that you know we really
- 9:13Speaker 1: couldn't video we had to tell everybody they had to
- 9:15Speaker 1: put their camerasa was that when I played him up
- 9:18Speaker 1: to Stevie Wonders Superstitious because he loved Stevie wonder Um,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and I saw him bopping and shaking, I said, hold up,
- 9:25Speaker 1: didn't want to sing, So I put the micro in
- 9:27Speaker 1: front of his mouth and he sang Superstition and saying
- 9:30Speaker 1: every single word lyrics. Ad lived it right on the spot.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I mean the music was pulsating for him, and his
- 9:38Speaker 1: mom said it was one of the most amazing moments
- 9:41Speaker 1: that he's ever had. So that was great. I'm so
- 9:43Speaker 1: glad you were there to witness that. That's that's why
- 9:46Speaker 1: I wanted to bring it out. I wanted to make
- 9:47Speaker 1: sure that you know you're a game changer. You've always
- 9:50Speaker 1: been a game changer in my life personally. I've I've
- 9:52Speaker 1: shared a lot of amazing, uh production experiences for you,
- 9:56Speaker 1: from working on sitcoms with you is of talk shows
- 9:59Speaker 1: and and this, but having to come there and see
- 10:02Speaker 1: your life's work. That's why I consider your life works
- 10:04Speaker 1: because it's personally attached to your your father and your
- 10:07Speaker 1: child and Rodney's there such a lovely, loving support man,
- 10:11Speaker 1: or your daughter's there. It's just so much that goes
- 10:14Speaker 1: on there that you know, know that Rushan McDonald is
- 10:18Speaker 1: backing you. Rashan McDonald want to make this announcement now
- 10:21Speaker 1: that hey, we made seven hundreds that we made seven
- 10:23Speaker 1: hundreds thousand dollars in contributions to the chair of Holly
- 10:26Speaker 1: rod Foundation charity. We got our goal is a million.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Next year, we're gonna hit that million mark. And I
- 10:32Speaker 1: just wanted to get it out and thank you for
- 10:34Speaker 1: inviting me that my wife is gonna be there next
- 10:36Speaker 1: year and we're gonna have a great time. Right now.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Good keep winning, keep winning. Okay, thank you appreciate that.
- 10:44Speaker 1: When we come back on our next break, we're gonna
- 10:45Speaker 1: talk about this Christmas movie. This is what she does
- 10:47Speaker 1: an executive producer of it, Hallmark, and we'll be right
- 10:51Speaker 1: back with more. Holly robertson, Pete, Hi, this is Rashan McDonald.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You're listening to money making conversation. This is what I do.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I'll go an amazing guests on my show and allow
- 11:02Speaker 1: them to communicate about what they do in life. We
- 11:06Speaker 1: have a casual conversation. I've noticed that a lot of
- 11:08Speaker 1: people will come on the show go wow, this is
- 11:10Speaker 1: really a cool interview that you do that you're there's
- 11:13Speaker 1: no agenda time to It is about exploring and allowing
- 11:16Speaker 1: individuals who speak and whether it's a movie, whether it's
- 11:20Speaker 1: a book, whether it's their charity, whether it's their goals
- 11:23Speaker 1: in life, and coming on the show and allowing them
- 11:25Speaker 1: amount of the motivation for individuals who need to hear
- 11:28Speaker 1: this type of advice. My guests has been motivating people
- 11:31Speaker 1: for years because guess what, because her parents are motivated.
- 11:33Speaker 1: We need speak about her mom, who I love to death.
- 11:36Speaker 1: She's also a groundbreaker in the in the field of
- 11:39Speaker 1: management and agencies and all that stuff. So so so,
- 11:42Speaker 1: Holly Robinson Pete has been surrounded by I guess game
- 11:45Speaker 1: changes all her life. Now she's executive producing the new
- 11:48Speaker 1: movie UH that will be premilient on Sunday, December twenty two,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and it's starring are one of the great people are
- 11:55Speaker 1: Moms of my Life, Singers of my life, R and
- 11:58Speaker 1: B superstars in my life Patty La Belle. It's called
- 12:01Speaker 1: a family Christmas gift. Please welcome back to the show,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Holly Robinson Pete. I'm so happy to be back, and
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm so glad to talk about this movie because I mean, Rashawn,
- 12:12Speaker 1: this was a dream come true. I have known Patty
- 12:15Speaker 1: LaBelle with both Billy Girls. I've known her most of
- 12:17Speaker 1: my life, and she's been to my wedding. We've celebrated
- 12:20Speaker 1: milestones with each other and and and she's somebody who
- 12:23Speaker 1: I absolutely adore. Um I wanted her to be in
- 12:27Speaker 1: a Christmas movie with me sing She sings in the
- 12:33Speaker 1: movie because she so Patty was in a Christmas movie
- 12:36Speaker 1: for Hallmark Channel last year. She was. She was great
- 12:39Speaker 1: in it, um, and the movie was great and raided
- 12:41Speaker 1: through the roof. But I was watching along on Twitter,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and you know how we are on Twitter, um, and
- 12:46Speaker 1: we were saying, uh, we didn't see enough of miss Patty.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That was just three three things, and so we didn't
- 12:54Speaker 1: get enough for her. And so I went to the
- 12:55Speaker 1: network and said, I need to see more of her.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And so Patty's like, now, listen, sah, I don't know
- 13:00Speaker 1: if you're gonna give me too many lines. I said, no, Patty,
- 13:03Speaker 1: you could do it. And we gotta get you to sing,
- 13:05Speaker 1: We gotta get you two bake pies, we gotta get
- 13:07Speaker 1: you to do the things that we love about you.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And um, and the network loved it and then they,
- 13:11Speaker 1: you know, allowed me to executive produce it. And so
- 13:14Speaker 1: A Family Christmas Gift will air um December twenty two
- 13:18Speaker 1: on Hallmark Movies and Mystery. So that's the other Hallmarks.
- 13:21Speaker 1: They have several Hallmark channels. There's Hallmark Channel, and there's
- 13:25Speaker 1: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, and there's Hallmark Drama. So you
- 13:28Speaker 1: gotta check your local listings and your cable to find
- 13:31Speaker 1: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. But We're so excited about this.
- 13:34Speaker 1: And when Miss Patty opens her mouth to thing it's great.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I play her niece, and she's a retired superstar diva
- 13:41Speaker 1: who retires in Colorado and and opens it bed in
- 13:45Speaker 1: breakfast and her niece who's a who has some some
- 13:49Speaker 1: issues in the past with her growing up in her childhood,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and they resolve those issues in Christmas time. It's a
- 13:54Speaker 1: beautiful love story, um, and a Christmas family story, and
- 13:58Speaker 1: I'm just very proud of it. Okay, you're a pretty
- 14:00Speaker 1: bassy person, your personality in this particular, which such the
- 14:04Speaker 1: stage for for for you know, for Patty. You're talking
- 14:08Speaker 1: about Holly. Are you talking about Uh, well, I'm teaching
- 14:12Speaker 1: about this character. This character basically because I've read the subscription.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Patty kind of playing herself okay, yeah, yeah you and
- 14:20Speaker 1: you're afraid to kind of playing yourself too. So so
- 14:22Speaker 1: we went in casting it was like I need Holly,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I need Patty, Okay, so let's go, let's go do
- 14:28Speaker 1: this movie. So so you didn't deviate from the character
- 14:31Speaker 1: because of the fact that but the timing and these
- 14:34Speaker 1: movies are so successful because they're emotionally driven and they're
- 14:38Speaker 1: tied to people going through a change of phase. You know,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you you you've an evolution of the character, and that's
- 14:45Speaker 1: what this character, that's why you have to be a
- 14:47Speaker 1: bassy person, Noel, you have to be this person who
- 14:49Speaker 1: who's just all of our business, all of our work,
- 14:52Speaker 1: all about me, me, me me, And then there's a transition. Correct, Yes,
- 14:57Speaker 1: you have to you have to. Um. But what's ironic
- 14:59Speaker 1: is at both Patty and I, you know, since we
- 15:02Speaker 1: do we are really like family in real life. So
- 15:05Speaker 1: that was cool to be able to work out the
- 15:06Speaker 1: first time. But the character Amber, I mean Listen's single
- 15:11Speaker 1: and childless. So first of all, that ain't me right?
- 15:15Speaker 1: I love I love to do that. I get to
- 15:17Speaker 1: have a really great love story, um in this which
- 15:20Speaker 1: I think is really awesome to see this black love,
- 15:23Speaker 1: especially on the Hallmark channel. I think it's really good
- 15:25Speaker 1: and I'm just so thrilled. I think people are gonna
- 15:28Speaker 1: really this is gonna be a movie that really resonates
- 15:30Speaker 1: with everyone, and hopefully we'll start a trilogy in a
- 15:33Speaker 1: series of movies. Well that's what it's all about. Let's
- 15:36Speaker 1: talk about the title of executive producer. You also say
- 15:39Speaker 1: Rodney is EP in the show as well. Right, No,
- 15:42Speaker 1: Rodney is with EP on Meet the Peach, which this
- 15:49Speaker 1: is just me, Yeah, just me. Let's talk with and
- 15:54Speaker 1: why does they work the whole ep and process, the
- 15:56Speaker 1: executive producing process of a of a made for TV movie.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh well, you know you you're you're you're in charge,
- 16:03Speaker 1: You're top to bottom, you know you. It's so And
- 16:06Speaker 1: when you're an EP and you're also starting in the movie,
- 16:08Speaker 1: you know, you look at things differently. You're you're on
- 16:11Speaker 1: time early, you have more invested in it, you know
- 16:16Speaker 1: what I mean? So you and you I was looking
- 16:18Speaker 1: out for Miss Patty, making sure everybody did right by her. Um.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know, we shoot these movies and the budgets are
- 16:24Speaker 1: not very much and we have to shoot them in
- 16:27Speaker 1: a quick period of time, so it's very very hard
- 16:30Speaker 1: to um to get them done. There's not much margin
- 16:34Speaker 1: for error, so we have to really be on our
- 16:35Speaker 1: game every day. We were for several days. We were
- 16:38Speaker 1: in the middle of Pemberton, British Columbia, which is in
- 16:40Speaker 1: the middle of nowhere, and it's it's cold, and it's
- 16:43Speaker 1: outside and it's it was a lot. So I love
- 16:47Speaker 1: being an EP. I love being in charge. Um. It
- 16:50Speaker 1: makes me more invested in the movie. Absolutely. So the
- 16:52Speaker 1: movie we're talking about, I'm interviewing Holly Robinson, Peach's executive
- 16:56Speaker 1: producer of A Family Christmas Gift as original premier is

- 17:17Speaker 1: sending it out to my fan club sending on social media.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So are definitely promoting now. I know we have a
- 17:21Speaker 1: Holly Robinson speech starring and we also have Pad the
- 17:23Speaker 1: bell started. But we have a male lead, the love interest. Yes,
- 17:29Speaker 1: he's a Canadian actor, very strong, strong, strong actor. He
- 17:33Speaker 1: just came off of like a fellow playing a fellow
- 17:35Speaker 1: and go into he's he's a very good actor. We
- 17:39Speaker 1: really really enjoyed working with him. Well you know that's
- 17:42Speaker 1: because I you know, I don't want to like you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: because she said love interest, you know, so we gotta
- 17:46Speaker 1: make sure this romance. So we have to bring it
- 17:48Speaker 1: up and let her know there's something Studeley fellow out there,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you know, doing his thing Canadian based, you know, in
- 17:54Speaker 1: king Lear, so it means he's articulate. Yeah, he would
- 18:02Speaker 1: kill me because I've always you know, I'll be doing
- 18:05Speaker 1: my homework. Now, come on, now I do when I can,
- 18:07Speaker 1: I do. When I came on Money Making Conversations, you
- 18:10Speaker 1: would have all your stuff down, you know, the fun
- 18:17Speaker 1: for the body when I interview you, whenever you come
- 18:20Speaker 1: on the show and we're talking about it is a
- 18:22Speaker 1: family conversation. It was about promoting your brand, is about
- 18:26Speaker 1: you know, being able to extend because you have a
- 18:28Speaker 1: career and that and we all know that in Hollywood
- 18:31Speaker 1: there are no guarantees. And if you want to give
- 18:34Speaker 1: people to have advice, you know, and I know you've
- 18:36Speaker 1: had what I feel that your support system has been powerful.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And then the fact that your parents were in the
- 18:42Speaker 1: entertainment business. Your mom is amazing. And if we could
- 18:45Speaker 1: talk a little bit, I've been mentioned it several times,
- 18:47Speaker 1: if you could tell them exactly who your mom is
- 18:49Speaker 1: and what she's doing today, because she's mom is uh
- 18:53Speaker 1: now be living in Palm Springs, living her best life
- 18:56Speaker 1: at eight three, she's really deserved, deserved and earned everything.
- 18:59Speaker 1: But you know, she came to California in the seventies
- 19:02Speaker 1: with two kids, fleeing, you know, trying to look for
- 19:04Speaker 1: a better life, and she ended up in these rooms
- 19:06Speaker 1: where no one looked like her. So she broke through
- 19:08Speaker 1: glass ceilings as a talent manager. Her first client with
- 19:11Speaker 1: LeVar Burton on the eve of Roots, and she was
- 19:14Speaker 1: somebody that just absolutely wouldn't take no for an answer. Um.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And so she was able to go on and manage
- 19:22Speaker 1: Wesley Snipes and Rosie Perez and Michael Clark Duncan and
- 19:25Speaker 1: and people that were you know, really took them to
- 19:27Speaker 1: the pinnacle of their careers. Uh, Martin Sheen, Um, Charlie Sheen.
- 19:32Speaker 1: She's worked with so many people and done some things
- 19:35Speaker 1: that she wasn't supposed to do. So when she set
- 19:37Speaker 1: off to find this better life from Philly, uh, she
- 19:40Speaker 1: really did that, did the dag on things. So I'm
- 19:42Speaker 1: just so proud of her. Um. And now she's in
- 19:45Speaker 1: her next chapter, as she said, well she's a in
- 19:47Speaker 1: Palm Spring. She's worked hard, she's hanging out down there.
- 19:51Speaker 1: She got her little life. I just gave her the
- 19:53Speaker 1: um breaking the glass Feeling awards last week from the
- 19:57Speaker 1: Palm Springs Women's Film and Television and Organization, so she's
- 20:01Speaker 1: still being honored. I'm pushing her to write a book
- 20:04Speaker 1: because I think again a couple of great books in her,
- 20:07Speaker 1: which is a lot as a motivation. It's alight because
- 20:10Speaker 1: she's so articulate and she's so personable, and you know,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and if you get near her and she's chip chip,
- 20:15Speaker 1: she'll find your gig, you know, because she'll make a
- 20:17Speaker 1: phone call for you right there. I've noticed that a
- 20:19Speaker 1: lot you need, ma'am. That's right, ma'am. I'm good. You sure, sure.
