Latest / Life For Toledo / Rest in God Ecclesiastes 4:6

- 0:00I'm thinking today of Ecclesiastes 4 .6. One
- 0:02hand full of rest is better than two fists full
- 0:06of labor and striving after wind. It's okay.
- 0:09Striving to change the world without God's purpose
- 0:11is futile. What if we succeeded? What eternal
- 0:14good would there be? What good can we do in our
- 0:17effort? Of course, to do evil is the wrong road,
- 0:20but is he who is striving ever really doing good?
- 0:23Would we be better off resting in the Lord and
- 0:26allowing him to work through us? Can we do this
- 0:28without yielding to laziness and becoming unproductive?
- 0:33I don't yearn for fame. I don't think any of
- 0:36us do. And those of us who do probably aren't
- 0:39listening to this message. We don't even know
- 0:41what's best for us every single day. You know.
- 0:44Lord, help us do the right things daily. Please
- 0:47give us this day our daily bread. I think I've
- 0:49heard that somewhere before. Is there anything
- 0:51better? Resting in God and seeing the outcomes
- 0:54that God provides seems like the only road that
- 0:57works. But does rest equal a lack of labor? No.
- 1:00It equals being committed to the labor of love.
- 1:03Does labor equal striving? No. It means trusting
- 1:07God and doing what God would have you to do and
- 1:09allowing him to provide the increase. We've got
- 1:12this. I know that all that's accomplished by
- 1:14our flawed nature fails and falls away, but that
- 1:17which God does lasts forever.
