- 3:15Speaker 1: heard of me. I heard of her because I see
- 3:16Speaker 1: him on TV and all that good stuff. But this
- 3:19Speaker 1: time we have a relationship because I'm going out to the
- 3:20Speaker 1: the l A next week. I'm dropping by the shop.
- 3:23Speaker 1: She's a painter, entrepreneur, philantropists and social media influencer and
- 3:28Speaker 1: has opened her own tattoo shop in Los Angeles called
- 3:31Speaker 1: Enigma Tattoo earlier this summer in June. Please welcome back
- 3:35Speaker 1: to money Banking Conversations. I'm proud to say that cat
- 3:39Speaker 1: tat what's her girl? Hey, hey, thank you so much
- 3:43Speaker 1: for having me against time. I know, let's talk about
- 3:48Speaker 1: That's what I'm happening to happen. You're back on the
- 3:49Speaker 1: show and everything, because you know, that's when I when
- 3:52Speaker 1: I when you know, it's always a journey with everything.
- 3:54Speaker 1: That's that's a proximly about seven months ago when we
- 3:57Speaker 1: talked about eight months ago when we talked and and
- 4:00Speaker 1: you was finding yourself. You're making some decisions and you're
- 4:03Speaker 1: doing great things, but you seem to be not not
- 4:06Speaker 1: what you wanted to be at that moment. So let's
- 4:08Speaker 1: talk about that journey where yet right now? I love
- 4:11Speaker 1: First of all, I can tell there's a difference in
- 4:14Speaker 1: your tone and your energy. You feel really not saying
- 4:17Speaker 1: you're a negative person, but your spirit seems right. Thank you,
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know, I really really appreciate that. Um. I've been
- 4:24Speaker 1: out in Los Angeles for almost two years now, and
- 4:27Speaker 1: it was a lot of just figuring it out. Once
- 4:29Speaker 1: you just kind of step out on faith and moved
- 4:31Speaker 1: to an entire new city not knowing you know too
- 4:34Speaker 1: many people. It's a it's a big risk. So it
- 4:36Speaker 1: took me a while to get it figured out. And um,
- 4:39Speaker 1: finally I feel like I got my purpose back, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 1: being a tattoo artist my entire adult life since I
- 4:44Speaker 1: was eighteen. U me, finally having my own tattoo shop
- 4:48Speaker 1: just puts everything in perspective for me, and I feel
- 4:51Speaker 1: like I'm actually moving forward now instead of running in circles.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Now that then you slid that out rather smoothly my
- 4:58Speaker 1: own tattoos, because we didn't even talk about that eight
- 5:02Speaker 1: months ago. That was that in the process eight months ago.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It's weird, Like I said, I've been tattooing for so long. Um, Like,
- 5:10Speaker 1: tattooing is just my my passion and that's what I do.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And I am so focused on creating and just figuring out,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you know, where I wanted to live with you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: the TV showing so much happening. At one time, I
- 5:22Speaker 1: felt like I didn't even really have the time to
- 5:25Speaker 1: think about to put together a plan like Okay, I'm
- 5:27Speaker 1: gonna move here and open up my shop. Like it
- 5:30Speaker 1: really just it's set on my spirit. When when I
- 5:33Speaker 1: felt like it was the right time, you know, so
- 5:36Speaker 1: it it took me a long time, but like I
- 5:39Speaker 1: once I felt like, okay, now this is time for
- 5:41Speaker 1: me to pursue this. Um, I went and looked at
- 5:44Speaker 1: spaces and you know, started putting the piece together as
- 5:47Speaker 1: to what it would take. And then um, from there
- 5:49Speaker 1: just started rolling. So it was really like a six
- 5:52Speaker 1: month process from you know, actually yeah, but the trade
- 5:56Speaker 1: was so um has been there for so long that friends,
- 6:00Speaker 1: we gotta we gotta brand. You gotta brand, You have
- 6:03Speaker 1: a following, so that's what helps in social media, helps
- 6:06Speaker 1: you out, help help you make that decision to open
- 6:08Speaker 1: as well, didn't it. Yeah? Absolutely absolutely. I mean just
- 6:12Speaker 1: being a tattoo artist. You know, there's no bigger platform
- 6:14Speaker 1: that you can ask for, from a national TV show
- 6:18Speaker 1: to you know, hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's like it's a blessing that you can't take for granted,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and you gotta take full advantage of it, and you
- 6:27Speaker 1: have been. So let's talk about this whole process because
- 6:30Speaker 1: my show Money Making Conversation is about entrepreneurship. It's about
- 6:34Speaker 1: people making that decision that you made. Like you said,
- 6:37Speaker 1: eight months ago, are we discussed he was talking. You
- 6:40Speaker 1: didn't bring up the idea that I was going to
- 6:41Speaker 1: open my own tattoo shop in Los Angeles called Enigma Tattoo.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now I lived in Los Angeles fifteen years. Where about
- 6:48Speaker 1: is it? So I can you can you can talk
- 6:50Speaker 1: to me. Where don't you open the shop? And where
- 6:53Speaker 1: are the locations? And why you chose this location? Um,
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's Beverly Hills Areas right on the corner of Pico
- 7:00Speaker 1: and Robertson and anybody. Yeah, everybody that is from here
- 7:06Speaker 1: that comes by there, like, man, you couldn't have picked
- 7:08Speaker 1: a better location. So it took me a long time
- 7:12Speaker 1: to figure out the location I lived. I used to
- 7:14Speaker 1: live in North Hollywood, and I didn't want to do
- 7:16Speaker 1: a thing. That's that's a one on one. That's one
- 7:21Speaker 1: on one north right, uh um, North Hollywood. Yeah, I
- 7:27Speaker 1: think so, but I'm not there anymore. I moved close
- 7:29Speaker 1: to the shop, but yes so. And then I looked
- 7:33Speaker 1: in Culver City and I looked on mail rows where
- 7:36Speaker 1: every other spot was a tattoo shop, and none of
- 7:39Speaker 1: it felt right to me. So I was actually going
- 7:41Speaker 1: to get my hair done um at the salon in
- 7:44Speaker 1: that area, and I'm looking around, I'm like, what area
- 7:46Speaker 1: is this? And then so I just drove all up
- 7:48Speaker 1: and down Pico and I wrote down the phone number
- 7:51Speaker 1: to all the vacant spots, and there was one that
- 7:53Speaker 1: just looked like it had so much potential to me.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So I went, I looked through the window, I wrote
- 7:58Speaker 1: down the number, called the prices and everything, and then
- 8:02Speaker 1: from there I connected with the commercial rotor and he
- 8:06Speaker 1: just closed the deal for me and everything went smooth
- 8:10Speaker 1: from there. So this is so cool. So I know
- 8:12Speaker 1: Pico Robinson. That's the location of Enigma Tattoo that's owned
- 8:16Speaker 1: by Cat tat Cat. Let's talk about this so because
- 8:20Speaker 1: it was really a cool conversation. So do you have
- 8:23Speaker 1: any employees? Are you there by yourself? How? How was
- 8:25Speaker 1: working there? What's going on? Oh? No? Absolutely? There are
- 8:29Speaker 1: six of us total, six amazing Um. Sounds like a
- 8:33Speaker 1: TV show to meet, sound like a TV show. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: will take that. So I'm not mad about CEO TV.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Now I'm just gonna let you know that I'm speaking
- 8:48Speaker 1: to the speaking to words come true. Okay, thank you
- 8:52Speaker 1: so much. Let's put that in the air. But um yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: six of us total, all great amazing tattoo artists. Um.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And she's just a blessing to be able to work
- 9:02Speaker 1: with other amazing artists. Since I moved here, I've just
- 9:05Speaker 1: been kind of doing my own thing, traveling, doing private
- 9:07Speaker 1: sessions the studio. So now it's like, okay, now I
- 9:10Speaker 1: can build something where we can all come together and
- 9:13Speaker 1: you know, do something even greater. This is interesting. Let
- 9:17Speaker 1: me ask you this so because this is really really
- 9:19Speaker 1: cool conversation because we're talking about business. How you started
- 9:22Speaker 1: your business from a six months ago you, you're driving
- 9:25Speaker 1: up and down the street, you're looking at you looked
- 9:28Speaker 1: in shops in different areas, Culver City, North Hollywood, Hollywood,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and you're settling on this location. Now you're telling me, Sean,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm not in there by myself. I have six other people. Okay,
- 9:38Speaker 1: your celebrity tattoo artists. How did you choose the other
- 9:42Speaker 1: six people to come on board? That they have to
- 9:44Speaker 1: have a social media following that, they have to have
- 9:47Speaker 1: a client base. Did you look at their art work
- 9:50Speaker 1: or they came with recommendations? How did that work? Yeah?
- 9:54Speaker 1: You know what, when I feel like, once you enter
- 9:56Speaker 1: the art world and the tattoo world, all that celebrity
- 9:59Speaker 1: and TV, that doesn't mean anything. You could be on TV,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but that doesn't mean it. You know, you could be
- 10:04Speaker 1: doing crappy work on TV. So for me, it was
- 10:06Speaker 1: all about the art, all about their skills set, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: there um their own clientele and everything. And I pretty
- 10:13Speaker 1: much like cherry picked the artist, and I just I
- 10:16Speaker 1: was actually nervous to approach them because I'm like, why
- 10:19Speaker 1: would they want to come and work for me? You know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: it's really really nervous, and it's kind of timid. So
- 10:25Speaker 1: I just you know, I just went out for it,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and I sent them emails or text or re shots
- 10:30Speaker 1: to them how I could, and I asked if they
- 10:32Speaker 1: would want to sit down and go to lunch with
- 10:34Speaker 1: me so I can tell them a little bit about
- 10:36Speaker 1: what I'm doing. And it worked, like you know, they
- 10:39Speaker 1: were stoked to come on board, and now we're just
- 10:43Speaker 1: forming an amazing team. So I'm just blessed. This is cool. Now,
- 10:48Speaker 1: what is your vision of of a tattoo shop? You know, store,
- 10:53Speaker 1: your location? What what makes you when you walk in there?
- 10:55Speaker 1: What when Roshan walks in there? Well? What whatever? What?
- 10:59Speaker 1: What what worreld a my walking into well? When you
- 11:03Speaker 1: ask like if I had always planned on open up
- 11:05Speaker 1: a tattoo shop. I come from, you know, the tattoo industries,
- 11:08Speaker 1: small towns of my college town, and all tattoos shops
- 11:12Speaker 1: were kind of small hole in the wall. You know,
- 11:15Speaker 1: some people are kind of like mean at the front
- 11:17Speaker 1: desk is very gritty, and that's not me. Like, I know,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm a tattoo artist, but I'm also a businesswoman and
- 11:23Speaker 1: I always think big. So for me to have the
- 11:26Speaker 1: tattoo shop, I didn't want just a little hole in
- 11:28Speaker 1: the wall, you know, like grip type intimidating shop like.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I wanted something that would appeal to people in all
- 11:35Speaker 1: different categories, not just the tattoo industry. I wanted it
- 11:39Speaker 1: to appeal to people who are interested in art, who
- 11:41Speaker 1: are interested in beauty, and just I wanted to be very,
- 11:44Speaker 1: very high class. I got my Quip electric too brush.

- 17:01Speaker 1: home and home is home is right now, Atlanta, or
- 17:06Speaker 1: let's just george you Okay, you could have come in
- 17:09Speaker 1: studio and did this interview girl this, I'm really mad. Now,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'm really mad. Now mad, don't make me mad because
- 17:18Speaker 1: you're a superhero. You're superhero, You're thunder Dunder can make
- 17:21Speaker 1: a difference. Now, let's talk about We've got a lot
- 17:23Speaker 1: of things to talk about. Your your your your give
- 17:26Speaker 1: back programs, uh, your uplifting programs, about Saturday's Dreaming, let's
- 17:30Speaker 1: talk about it. There's some of the shows you've done before.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Let's talk about Black Lightning, how you auditioned for that
- 17:36Speaker 1: role and how it is so it's changing the game
- 17:41Speaker 1: for Uh. You know, we all know about Black Panther,
- 17:44Speaker 1: we all know about that, but Black Lightning is has
- 17:47Speaker 1: carved out his own niches is playing very well on Netflix.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I follow it. Now went from CE, did you know
- 17:53Speaker 1: You're hot? When Netflix picked you up a quickly. That's
- 17:56Speaker 1: a good sign right there that you've got something going on.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So tell us about how did you audition and how
- 18:02Speaker 1: your life has changed that you've been associated with Black
- 18:04Speaker 1: light Well, I got the call from my manager about
- 18:09Speaker 1: a year and a half ago that I had this
- 18:11Speaker 1: audition called black Lightning. I didn't, I never I never
- 18:13Speaker 1: heard of black Lightning. Never knew that we even had
- 18:16Speaker 1: a black superhero along with his family that was a
- 18:21Speaker 1: part of the DC universe. Never knew, So I go,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I never knew either. Don't worry about it. I never do.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I never knew. But I get the script and I
- 18:29Speaker 1: was like, first of all, knowing that Mara instantly mckill
- 18:33Speaker 1: were at the helm of it all and they were
- 18:35Speaker 1: the writers and the executive producers. I knew that this
- 18:38Speaker 1: would be a good show because their work speaks for itself.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'm a huge fan of their work, always wanted to
- 18:43Speaker 1: work with them. So I was first excited to read
- 18:46Speaker 1: the script because I knew they were attached to it.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Read the script and I was like, I just appreciated
- 18:51Speaker 1: the story. Most superheroes you see are, you know, in
- 18:55Speaker 1: their early twenties, and here with Black Lightning, you have
- 18:59Speaker 1: a middle man with the family who is a high
- 19:03Speaker 1: school principle. We've just never seen or heard this story before,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and I appreciated the strong, bold, and independent female characters
- 19:10Speaker 1: that they created within this world. So I went in
- 19:13Speaker 1: for the job and I was like, listen, y'all, y'all
- 19:16Speaker 1: looking for me. I felt so connected. I felt so
- 19:20Speaker 1: connected to the character and felt so connected to the
- 19:22Speaker 1: story that I just really went in so focused, and
- 19:26Speaker 1: I said, just go in and let them know that
- 19:28Speaker 1: you are her. And that was just the goal, you know,
- 19:31Speaker 1: to go in and and show them that I understood
- 19:34Speaker 1: this character and that I was really wanting to give
- 19:37Speaker 1: my voice over to her and I under you know,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I just said everything about her world, so um, coming
- 19:42Speaker 1: from a city like Silly, I understand some of the
- 19:45Speaker 1: problems that that that the city Freeland faces within the show,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and just wanting to be a voice for that and
- 19:51Speaker 1: hopefully start change, you know, with within our country, within
- 19:55Speaker 1: our cities. And um, that was pretty much my my
- 19:58Speaker 1: my audition proce. Okay, she minute this. We she said
- 20:04Speaker 1: a lot of good information because I want to continue
- 20:06Speaker 1: a story, but I want to feel people in the background.
- 20:08Speaker 1: She mentioned mar Rock and her husband now Mars. Some
- 20:11Speaker 1: of the work that Mars done his girlfriends being Mary
- 20:15Speaker 1: Jane the game. Just to know a little history about
- 20:18Speaker 1: her writing sample and and you know, uh in the
- 20:22Speaker 1: new series on own and so that's them. Okay to
- 20:25Speaker 1: know that about that, Okay to show black Lightning. She
- 20:29Speaker 1: has a sister and she has a mom, and she
- 20:32Speaker 1: has a dad. That's the family dynamic that she's talking about,
- 20:35Speaker 1: and that the encompasses black Lightning in her father's role,
- 20:39Speaker 1: he's a high school principal. Now, her character is a
- 20:42Speaker 1: very defiant character. And initially on the show, Um, the
- 20:47Speaker 1: character is is a gay character. Now initially on the show,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and I want to ask about this, and as we
- 20:52Speaker 1: go through the interview process, she had a relationship. But
- 20:55Speaker 1: I thought in the beginning that bogged down the show
- 20:59Speaker 1: because show succeeds based on the family dynamic and how
- 21:03Speaker 1: they all come together. Because she has a sister who's
- 21:06Speaker 1: reluctant to be a superhero. She just wants to She
- 21:08Speaker 1: just wants to have kids. She wants to be a
- 21:10Speaker 1: normal person, and she's she's trauma tized. In the series
- 21:13Speaker 1: now Thunder Thunder all about being a superhero. She's all
- 21:17Speaker 1: about taking her power and and and and saving the community,
- 21:22Speaker 1: fixing the wrongs in the community. In fact, her father
- 21:25Speaker 1: has to calm Thunder down. Now you can continue, contre
- 21:30Speaker 1: you excited, you can continue, Yeah, Thunder Thunder. She understands
- 21:35Speaker 1: and she learns that she has these superpowers. Then you
- 21:37Speaker 1: see her through the first season trying to navigate and
- 21:39Speaker 1: develop them. And once this lightbulb goes off of understanding
- 21:43Speaker 1: how her powers work, she gets really really excited and
- 21:46Speaker 1: really passionate, and she believes that this is a gift
- 21:49Speaker 1: from God and she is to used it to say
- 21:50Speaker 1: people who can't say themselves. So that is her logic behind,
- 21:55Speaker 1: you know, wanting to go out and use the powers
- 21:58Speaker 1: that have been given to her. And as you said, uh,
- 22:01Speaker 1: my sister on the show played by China and the
- 22:03Speaker 1: claim she has a totally different feeling about having these powers.
- 22:08Speaker 1: She thinks that it makes us freaks and she's not
- 22:10Speaker 1: normal and she just, you know, this doesn't really understand
- 22:13Speaker 1: and why her life has been you know, changed in
- 22:16Speaker 1: the in the major way that it has been. And
- 22:19Speaker 1: you can see, you know, throughout the season where I'm
- 22:22Speaker 1: trying to convince her that we have to use our
- 22:24Speaker 1: god given powers. And as you spoke on Black Lightning,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, dealing with the fact that his daughter has
- 22:30Speaker 1: these same powers, not the same powers, but you know,
- 22:34Speaker 1: they have been given special abilities and just trying to
- 22:37Speaker 1: you know, navigate through that world of of protecting them.
- 22:41Speaker 1: But also you know, I have to train them because
- 22:44Speaker 1: it is what it is, and if I train them,
- 22:46Speaker 1: then hopefully you know they'll they'll you know, be as
- 22:49Speaker 1: well off as possible when it comes to the whole
- 22:52Speaker 1: superhero world. So yeah, it's it's it's it's really a
- 22:56Speaker 1: show about a family first, and it's not it's not
- 22:59Speaker 1: that you're reminded that they're superheroes until you see them
- 23:02Speaker 1: in their costumes and you see them actually out fighting
- 23:04Speaker 1: crime and saving people. But it's really a show about
- 23:08Speaker 1: a family and you know, going through family problems and
- 23:11Speaker 1: them trying to overcome them together, which I thought was
- 23:15Speaker 1: really cool because you don't see a superhero, you know,
- 23:17Speaker 1: with his family, as I mentioned before, you you usually
- 23:20Speaker 1: see this young superhero flying and jumping all around, and
- 23:24Speaker 1: you have this family of superheroes and and that's just
- 23:27Speaker 1: an amazing concept of really cool idea, And Kudo said
- 23:31Speaker 1: everyone over at d C and Tony, Isabella and Trevor
- 23:35Speaker 1: who created you know this, this this character. Yeah, let's
- 23:39Speaker 1: let's talk about this show here about Rushawn McDonald black
- 23:42Speaker 1: Lightning experience, because it's really all about me. Really, you know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I'm a fan. That's a fan. I'm a fan. Okay,
- 23:48Speaker 1: So so I'm seeing it being promoted. I know. In fact,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I didn't know that uh Mara or the slave family
- 23:56Speaker 1: have been involved or involved in at all. I just
- 23:58Speaker 1: saw this and I my first thought was they would
- 24:01Speaker 1: not have the production quality is a black show. I
- 24:04Speaker 1: thought they wouldn't have the production quality to deliver the
- 24:07Speaker 1: special effect that that was my first thought. Ruin had
- 24:09Speaker 1: already made some preconceived thoughts that he wasn't gonna watch.
- 24:14Speaker 1: These are my thoughts. You know, I'm just trying to
- 24:16Speaker 1: be honest, you know, I said, you know, they they
- 24:20Speaker 1: you know, they're trying to get on the hype of
- 24:21Speaker 1: the Black Panther and dropping this a little black show
- 24:24Speaker 1: in and you know, I ain't wasted my time because
- 24:26Speaker 1: I'm a superhero nut by the way, this week okay, okay,
- 24:29Speaker 1: So so then my wife she knows I'm a superhero nut,
- 24:32Speaker 1: so she says, she watches the premiere and then she goes,
- 24:36Speaker 1: you better watch the show. I go, why you best
- 24:39Speaker 1: watched the show? You're missing something, I said, really really well, whatever,
- 24:45Speaker 1: so she record. For three weeks went by, I didn't
- 24:47Speaker 1: watch the show. She said, she's watching it and giving
- 24:51Speaker 1: me kind of like updates. You better will you stop
- 24:54Speaker 1: telling me I'm not gonna watch the show? So I wish,
- 24:57Speaker 1: she said. She set me down. I binge watch the
- 25:00Speaker 1: first three episodes. I've missed and have not missed an
- 25:03Speaker 1: episode since. You can give me. Give me a quiz
- 25:06Speaker 1: right now, did I passed? That's how much of a
- 25:11Speaker 1: fan I am, because I'm gonna telling you why. Because
- 25:13Speaker 1: of the fact that, first of all, the villains are fantastic.
- 25:17Speaker 1: The villains are fantastic. That's key to me. You know,
- 25:20Speaker 1: do the villains have credibility? Do? Do they throw fear
- 25:24Speaker 1: in you? Do? They do? They do? They do? They
- 25:26Speaker 1: map out? And then all of a sudden there's innate
- 25:28Speaker 1: danger that the secret can I get out? And then
- 25:31Speaker 1: the dynamic between their their their parents because they're divorced,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and she divorced him because he was a superhero, because
- 25:39Speaker 1: she didn't want to deal with the pressure of him
- 25:43Speaker 1: fighting crime, the same thing her daughter. She I love
- 25:46Speaker 1: the fact that the daughter got a little to Mama
- 25:48Speaker 1: and her. I'm talking about the younger daughter. And then Thunder,
- 25:51Speaker 1: who I'm interviewing right now. She got all daddy in her.
- 25:54Speaker 1: She all about saving the community. She all about stepping
- 25:57Speaker 1: out there. She teller were right now, she Thunder, but
- 26:00Speaker 1: she realizes that she can't because the people know how
- 26:02Speaker 1: to attack and know how to get the family. And
- 26:04Speaker 1: that's why the superheroes can't tell her what they are.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That's why superheroes really can't have loved ones. If I
- 26:08Speaker 1: got my Quip electric toothbrush, I love my smiles, I

- 31:18Speaker 1: The CEO of Agent Ink, Mark willing Ham, Good morning restaurant.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Thank you puding me. Mark. I'm really excited about having
- 31:26Speaker 1: you on the show, first because you're entrepreneur, but also
- 31:29Speaker 1: you're doing you know, you're just trying to protect people.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You're trying to because there's a lot of manipulative people
- 31:34Speaker 1: out there, especially predators out there, and people who will
- 31:37Speaker 1: put you in the situation that's not favorable to your safety,
- 31:41Speaker 1: not favorable to you trying to build your brand, your career.
- 31:44Speaker 1: So tell us why you started. I'm just telling why.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I love the idea. Tell us what got you started
- 31:50Speaker 1: and and creating this app well, you know, as you
- 31:53Speaker 1: just mentioned, the the mowing industry, just like pretty much
- 31:57Speaker 1: any of the the industries that are in the entertainment
- 32:01Speaker 1: sector are really like based on dreams. You know, people
- 32:05Speaker 1: have a dream, they go and they chase it, right,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I mean, and and they put it all out there,
- 32:10Speaker 1: whether you want to be an actor, whether you want
- 32:12Speaker 1: to be a musician, you want to be a model,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and you chase that dream and you're it's tough, the
- 32:18Speaker 1: tough road. Anyone who's been entertainment knows that. You know,
- 32:22Speaker 1: for every success, there's a thousand failures, and that for
- 32:27Speaker 1: that creates an environment that's right for people to take
- 32:30Speaker 1: advantage of these people wherever there's a power structure that
- 32:34Speaker 1: allows for someone to coerce or get someone to do
- 32:37Speaker 1: something because they're chasing that dream um and oftentimes they're
- 32:41Speaker 1: not even quite sure at that point what is but
- 32:44Speaker 1: they're supposed to do or what they're not supposed to do.
- 32:46Speaker 1: So when someone who has you know, a powermaker in
- 32:50Speaker 1: that industry says hey, we need you to do this,
- 32:52Speaker 1: they sit there and they go, wow, why do I not?
- 32:56Speaker 1: They don't know where to turn, They don't have a
- 32:57Speaker 1: support system with them, and we that we're going to
- 33:00Speaker 1: change that. And we're not only going to change it
- 33:03Speaker 1: for those reasons, we're you change for a lot of
- 33:05Speaker 1: reasons that you think about it, they're about modelling. You know.
- 33:09Speaker 1: If we think about you know, we think about genal Ema,
- 33:13Speaker 1: we think about all these big models out there, um
- 33:16Speaker 1: and and it's like, okay, but we don't think about
- 33:18Speaker 1: the hundred thousand others they're actually doing the majority of
- 33:22Speaker 1: the work, and they're not They're not the ones that
- 33:24Speaker 1: it's like the top actors. You know, there's a there's
- 33:27Speaker 1: thousands of others and they're all working actors. And so
- 33:30Speaker 1: these are working models. And the problem with the mauling
- 33:33Speaker 1: industry is it is about modeling, yet the models have
- 33:37Speaker 1: become secondary to their own industry. They're they're sitting on
- 33:40Speaker 1: the purple edge. And then you've got like an agency,
- 33:44Speaker 1: like a traditional agency or an agent who's negotiating everything
- 33:48Speaker 1: on their behalf, hopefully in their best interests, but many
- 33:51Speaker 1: times not in the model's best interests um with the
- 33:54Speaker 1: client that wants to book them, and the model just
- 33:57Speaker 1: sits on the side because inside the contract with the
- 34:00Speaker 1: agency that says they're going to handle it form and
- 34:03Speaker 1: they just sit around there and hope that this stuff
- 34:05Speaker 1: is happening correctly. And so the ball is pretty much
- 34:09Speaker 1: relinquishing the control over his or her career to the agent.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And the model doesn't set their rates, they don't have
- 34:17Speaker 1: a say on whether they get the job or to,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know, to in the negotiation process. And we'll say,
- 34:23Speaker 1: we're gonna change all of that. We're gonna put the
- 34:25Speaker 1: models in the center of their universe as they should be.
- 34:29Speaker 1: We're gonna empower them, We're going to give them the
- 34:31Speaker 1: tools to guide their own careers. We aren't even going
- 34:34Speaker 1: to require them to have contracts with us. They're gonna
- 34:37Speaker 1: be with us because they want to be with us.
- 34:38Speaker 1: That's a novel idea, right, That's that's the way I
- 34:41Speaker 1: like it. That's where I like it. Isn't that like
- 34:44Speaker 1: the way of like? That's I mean, truly, it's like
- 34:46Speaker 1: the American way. That's what it's supposed to be. All
- 34:49Speaker 1: these contracts come into place and all of a sudden,
- 34:51Speaker 1: in handcuffs basically, and if they don't even know what
- 34:54Speaker 1: they're signing half the time, because it's like and we're like, no,
- 34:59Speaker 1: we're not going to do that. They're gonna be with
- 35:01Speaker 1: us because they want to be with us. Quite frankly,
- 35:03Speaker 1: we don't even care with a traditional agency. That doesn't
- 35:06Speaker 1: matter to us. We are going to be that foundation
- 35:09Speaker 1: for every model, that that uh stability from the first
- 35:13Speaker 1: day of modeling to the last day of modelings for
- 35:16Speaker 1: every single model, and we're the people they can turn to.
- 35:19Speaker 1: We're the ones that have their back. We do things
- 35:22Speaker 1: crazy weird, um from the standpoint of disruption. So we
- 35:28Speaker 1: we do this weird thing called back contracts on every
- 35:30Speaker 1: single client. Uh not so weird. Really. We do criminal
- 35:37Speaker 1: we do sex offender checks. We do a ID verification,
- 35:41Speaker 1: we do a verification of needs to they actually need
- 35:45Speaker 1: a higher model, I mean someone's you know, depending on
- 35:47Speaker 1: what they're who with this person and why they need
- 35:49Speaker 1: to hire a model, and they have to so the
- 35:52Speaker 1: clients actually have to apply just like the models need
- 35:55Speaker 1: to apply. And we want to create the safest environment
- 36:00Speaker 1: models in the world. As you mentioned, we're on the
- 36:02Speaker 1: way over twenty registered models already. Yeah, that's amazing market.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I can't let you just say twenty because I you know,
- 36:13Speaker 1: that means that this is this is this is resonating
- 36:16Speaker 1: with with with the industry. You know, it's a need
- 36:19Speaker 1: and that's why I can't let you just go twenty No, no,
- 36:23Speaker 1: that's in it because we know how all it is
- 36:25Speaker 1: the lunch. Launch an app and then also create a
- 36:27Speaker 1: trust to the environment. And that's what you're doing. You're
- 36:29Speaker 1: creating a trust to the environment with agent Ink. That's
- 36:32Speaker 1: the app. You can download it Google Play Store, Apple
- 36:36Speaker 1: Store is available on all the platforms. Can I share
- 36:39Speaker 1: a quick story with your mark about my experience as
- 36:41Speaker 1: UH a guy who represented UH models in the industry.
- 36:47Speaker 1: UH early on in the early two thousands, UH represented
- 36:50Speaker 1: several models. They were video models and UH so videos
- 36:54Speaker 1: are really popular and especially in the urban industry. UH
- 36:58Speaker 1: and BT. You could always just turn on be E
- 37:00Speaker 1: Tea and to see UH how dominant the video models were.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And when you get on set, they had no dressing rooms,
- 37:07Speaker 1: they had no they had they generally had no food.
- 37:10Speaker 1: UH they and I wou was always have to go
- 37:13Speaker 1: to set with my clients to make sure they would
- 37:15Speaker 1: treat it with respect. You know, you get there, you
- 37:17Speaker 1: basically had the stage till the shoot was over with.
- 37:19Speaker 1: There was no time window. It really was not a
- 37:22Speaker 1: comfortable environment and plus a lot of times the women
- 37:25Speaker 1: will have on bikinis, so they will be dressed with
- 37:28Speaker 1: a limited amount of clothes. Sometimes these video shoots are
- 37:32Speaker 1: at night and it can be cold, So I am
- 37:35Speaker 1: really champion. I'm sure you've heard these type of stories before.
- 37:38Speaker 1: That's why you started this app. But this is the
- 37:40Speaker 1: reality of why it's important to understand why Mark app
- 37:44Speaker 1: is blowing up, why it's needed because as a professional,
- 37:48Speaker 1: and I consider myself one of the top managers in
- 37:50Speaker 1: the business, I had to walk my clients and feel
- 37:53Speaker 1: I had to protect them not only from the environment,
- 37:56Speaker 1: but of certain situations so they would come home safe
- 37:59Speaker 1: because they can be bad at there. Correct, Mark, that
- 38:02Speaker 1: is absolutely correct. Your story is is pretty much the norm.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I wish it was not, and that's that's what we're
- 38:10Speaker 1: out the change and emailed it. I mean, we we
- 38:12Speaker 1: we looked at the big picture of this industry and
- 38:14Speaker 1: we said, the fabulous. You know, there's a lot of
- 38:16Speaker 1: great industries out in the industries one of them. But
- 38:20Speaker 1: I think because of all the the hype and excitement
- 38:24Speaker 1: and all the beautiful sides of it, people don't realize
- 38:27Speaker 1: what's really happening. And I hate hey, I said, I
- 38:30Speaker 1: mean we started this too. We started the company actually
- 38:32Speaker 1: over two years ago. We launched just you know this year,
- 38:36Speaker 1: and we did this with these the intent of making
- 38:40Speaker 1: it better to about the clients and the models. So
- 38:42Speaker 1: this isn't really a two sided thing. We said, let's
- 38:45Speaker 1: look at the entire industry that we put on the whiteboard.
- 38:48Speaker 1: How would we redesign the industry today and not just
- 38:52Speaker 1: try to put bandies on a ship that has a
- 38:54Speaker 1: whole lot of holes in it. And so we kind
- 38:57Speaker 1: of re imagine the industry and we said, look, if
- 38:59Speaker 1: we weren't us support foundation, we could provide value to everyone.
- 39:04Speaker 1: So it's not just to the models. Although without the
- 39:06Speaker 1: models being you know, in the right mindset and having
- 39:09Speaker 1: the support and and and being safe, then everything starts
- 39:13Speaker 1: to fall apart. And we definitely, you know, came in
- 39:16Speaker 1: there with that focus. I mean we we even you
- 39:19Speaker 1: can probably know this as well too. Models. A lot
- 39:22Speaker 1: of people I couldn't believe this when I tell them
- 39:24Speaker 1: that one the traditional payment cycle for a model after
- 39:27Speaker 1: job is thirty days, sixty sometimes ninety and even sometimes
- 39:32Speaker 1: this far out as a hundred and eighty days after
- 39:34Speaker 1: the job they get paid. And I saw a contract
- 39:37Speaker 1: recently where where the models showed me with a traditional
- 39:40Speaker 1: agency that said, in bold letters, all caps, you will
- 39:44Speaker 1: be the last to be paid. Do not keep asking
- 39:46Speaker 1: for paying. You will get paid, but you are the
- 39:49Speaker 1: last in line. And I said, the modeling industry and
- 39:53Speaker 1: the models of the reason the jobs are happening. And
- 39:56Speaker 1: yet the models the last one to be paid. And
- 39:58Speaker 1: we said, no, that's gonna stomp. And we pay the
- 40:02Speaker 1: models the same day as the shoot. So we just
- 40:06Speaker 1: said everything, We wrote everything out and we just said
- 40:09Speaker 1: we're changing it all. We we do seven customers assistance.
- 40:15Speaker 1: We have a blood and called as in our out.
- 40:19Speaker 1: If the model needs anything, we're there. If I got
- 40:22Speaker 1: my EQUIP electric toothbrush, I love my smiles, I love
- 40:25Speaker 1: my teeth. When was the last time you replaced your toothbrush?

- 46:34Speaker 1: say your last name because you know nowadays you know
- 46:36Speaker 1: that's you know, you celect your celebrity that you know,

- 46:41Speaker 1: You know that now right, Well, if it's almost like
- 46:43Speaker 1: the Oprah, you don't need it anymore. I feel like
- 46:45Speaker 1: I'm the only Jamaica, right. I've learned this in life.
- 46:51Speaker 1: You're right with people gonna here and they shift to me.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Has always been. Let me just here a little background
- 46:56Speaker 1: about my relationship with her. When Steve Harvey Nour did
- 46:59Speaker 1: our adio short moved from New York to Atlanta with
- 47:02Speaker 1: officers and Buckhead and so we had this deal with
- 47:06Speaker 1: this agency with here Shot Farm that was right correct,
- 47:09Speaker 1: Here Shot Farm Sausage, and we had a little kitchen
- 47:12Speaker 1: and she would come over and she cooked these meals.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I showed my little kitchen and she'd be back there
- 47:18Speaker 1: and then we sample of food on air. That's how
- 47:20Speaker 1: I met her, and so and so and so. That
- 47:22Speaker 1: was just just seeing her back then. She's always tell me, Rashan,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I want my on TV show. I go, okay, go
- 47:28Speaker 1: for it. I'm gonna be big in this business. And
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'm just telling the truth. And she just but she
- 47:34Speaker 1: was focused and she knew it. She didn't know how
- 47:37Speaker 1: she was gonna do it, but she knew that that
- 47:40Speaker 1: was that was a goal of hers. And I'm just
- 47:42Speaker 1: telling you. I would just see you on TV doing
- 47:44Speaker 1: these doing these little guest segments being a guest judge.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Tell people how it all really got rolling for you.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I know you started, you know, you started with me.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Back there there was like two thousands, two thousands, eight
- 47:57Speaker 1: nine nine, and and you you came in first of all.
- 48:02Speaker 1: This was still that professionalism. Okay, I knew her brand.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Beautiful smile. She always had a face for TV. To
- 48:08Speaker 1: let your note, I always had a face to smile
- 48:10Speaker 1: for TV. So when she talked with you doing TV,
- 48:12Speaker 1: some people tell me they're gonna do TV. I go. Really,
- 48:15Speaker 1: I didn't say that with her. Well, I appreciate that,
- 48:20Speaker 1: but no, it's funny how I actually got started, because
- 48:22Speaker 1: a lot of people think, oh, I just fell right
- 48:24Speaker 1: into the to the chevro of culinary world. I started
- 48:27Speaker 1: Corporate America right out of college, like I have a
- 48:30Speaker 1: degree in marketing and business, and I was in Corporate
- 48:33Speaker 1: America for several years and it was just you know how,
- 48:36Speaker 1: and I know a lot of people can identify with this.
- 48:38Speaker 1: You you get into a career, you think it's going
- 48:40Speaker 1: to be so outstanding, and then I just got there
- 48:42Speaker 1: and I was like, this is not me. I quickly
- 48:45Speaker 1: realized I don't want to be in a meeting after
- 48:47Speaker 1: a meeting talking about meetings while we're having so many meetings,
- 48:50Speaker 1: And it was just like I felt changed to my desk.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I didn't feel like I was being fulfilled and utilizing
- 48:55Speaker 1: my full talent. So it was back in with two
- 48:57Speaker 1: thousand one and I was working at PR Company in Atlanta,
- 49:01Speaker 1: and it was right after nine eleven and they started,
- 49:04Speaker 1: you know, losing clients and laying people off. And they
- 49:06Speaker 1: came to me and said, we can either demote you
- 49:09Speaker 1: or you can go. And I was like, wait a minute,
- 49:12Speaker 1: this is my chance. At first I was like, wait,
- 49:14Speaker 1: I mean, I got bills to pay, I got student loans,
- 49:15Speaker 1: I need to stay. But in the instant, I said,
- 49:18Speaker 1: this is my time to take that leap of faith.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I gotta jump right now. And I took it, and
- 49:22Speaker 1: I said if I just let me go, and everybody
- 49:24Speaker 1: in the room looked at me like I was crazy.
- 49:26Speaker 1: And I didn't really have a plan in mind. I
- 49:27Speaker 1: just knew that I could not go to that job
- 49:30Speaker 1: or do that career for the rest of my life.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I knew there was so much more for me. And
- 49:34Speaker 1: right after that, I went to UM the Art Institute
- 49:37Speaker 1: of Atlanta for culinary school because I always loved to cook.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I grew up with my grandmother showed me how to cook.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I was that little chunky kid. Everybody was on the
- 49:44Speaker 1: playground like I was in the kitchen with my grandmother,
- 49:47Speaker 1: been learning how to like need dough and stuff like that.
- 49:49Speaker 1: But I never really considered it as a career. So
- 49:52Speaker 1: when I went to the culinary school, I said, this
- 49:54Speaker 1: is what I love to do. Let me just see
- 49:56Speaker 1: what happens. And it was the best decision that I
- 49:58Speaker 1: ever made. So it was like I took hay cut
- 50:02Speaker 1: and my parents didn't understand what I was trying to do.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Everybody thought I was crazy, but I knew that was
- 50:06Speaker 1: the path that I had to take. And a lot
- 50:07Speaker 1: of times when people think it's crazy, that's a decision
- 50:10Speaker 1: that that's the best decision for you because you can't
- 50:13Speaker 1: let everybody. Everybody can't understand what you're trying to do.
- 50:15Speaker 1: You gotta know for yourself. And that was the one
- 50:17Speaker 1: thing I always love to do, and it's a career choice.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Everybody's eating all the time, so I knew I would
- 50:22Speaker 1: never be laid off. I would never be out of
- 50:24Speaker 1: a job because everybody's always eating. So that's really what
- 50:26Speaker 1: I said. Let me do the chef thing you right
- 50:29Speaker 1: there before we go, I'm gonna get more into her
- 50:31Speaker 1: because she's really a great person as you can tell
- 50:34Speaker 1: about her motivation. Let's talk about the show you're currently
- 50:36Speaker 1: starting off the Food Network, Let's Eat. I want you
- 50:40Speaker 1: to break it down because you have two other additional
- 50:42Speaker 1: celebrity co host on the show. Let's talk about that
- 50:45Speaker 1: because now it used to be just on Sundays, but
- 50:47Speaker 1: now you can catch seven is on the digital platform.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Young People love me on the go with you all
- 50:53Speaker 1: the time. Chef Jimika on the Go write that right there.
- 50:59Speaker 1: The show is called Let Eat, and as I describe it,
- 51:01Speaker 1: it is the most delicious thirty minutes you will ever experience.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I saw that I saw yesterday with a man. Did
- 51:10Speaker 1: you get hungry? A girl? A man? Man? Because I'm
- 51:13Speaker 1: just I'm just like that. All my friends know me, chef,
- 51:16Speaker 1: they go ra Sean, you don't get no way. You
- 51:19Speaker 1: eat with it. You want to eat. You know, I
- 51:20Speaker 1: go to Buffet's, I my dessert before I eat my meal.
- 51:25Speaker 1: I'm just like that. In fact, you're this morning, I
- 51:27Speaker 1: had Stirs talking about let's see, let's talk about your show.
- 51:31Speaker 1: We were talking about food and let's focus myself because
- 51:36Speaker 1: we can talk food all that. But no, it's it's
- 51:38Speaker 1: the talk show style, and I mean it's the three
- 51:40Speaker 1: of us. It's another host, Brandon Malloyd, she's a Internet sensation,
- 51:45Speaker 1: and Chef Steward O'Keefe's an Irish chef. So it's a great,
- 51:48Speaker 1: I mean diverse panel. And we all come from different
- 51:51Speaker 1: walks of life and we all bring a little bit
- 51:53Speaker 1: of ourselves to the table. So for me, I am
- 51:56Speaker 1: Southern and Caribbean, and I'm just silly. I love having
- 51:58Speaker 1: a good time in the kitchen. Start bring the realness,
- 52:01Speaker 1: I bring those one liners, I bring it. I just
- 52:02Speaker 1: make it fun. If you can't have fun with around
- 52:05Speaker 1: your food and with your food, then you shouldn't be
- 52:07Speaker 1: in the kitchen. So I mean, I give you recipes,
- 52:10Speaker 1: we give you hacks, we give you tips. It's really
- 52:12Speaker 1: about making your life more simple in the kitchen. And
- 52:15Speaker 1: it's a little something for everybody. I mean, we're going
- 52:17Speaker 1: for a younger demographic. Could we have a lot of
- 52:20Speaker 1: digital um components to the show, a lot of like
- 52:22Speaker 1: the most instagram noble foods and crazy things you see online.
- 52:25Speaker 1: But we also have it for the moms and the dads,
- 52:28Speaker 1: and we have recipes to get the kids involved. Holiday recipes,
- 52:31Speaker 1: good fall recipes when it's coming up it's getting cold out,
- 52:34Speaker 1: starting to get cold outside, Like those are the types
- 52:36Speaker 1: of recipes that you need, a quick, easy, affordable and
- 52:40Speaker 1: your family and your friends are gonna love it. Like
- 52:41Speaker 1: that's what we really do for on this show. Well,
- 52:43Speaker 1: that's why I love about the show, because see, I'm
- 52:46Speaker 1: a see I'm a person that I I can cook
- 52:50Speaker 1: and I can bait. I hate complicated recipes, like it
- 52:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be complicated, cooking to never be and that's what
- 52:57Speaker 1: and and and videos and food videos are the most
- 53:00Speaker 1: popular videos and social media they are. So now you're
- 53:04Speaker 1: saying something that was really interesting. You're saying that the
- 53:07Speaker 1: the young young cooks, the young people, this show is
- 53:10Speaker 1: engaging them. How do you engage the younger generation. I
- 53:13Speaker 1: have a daughter who twenty one. You know, she's trying
- 53:16Speaker 1: to cook. She's always talk calling me every day, Dad,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I made this to day. You know. I've told her
- 53:21Speaker 1: to watch your show, you know, and I don't know
- 53:22Speaker 1: if she's watching you because you gotta watch this shows.
- 53:24Speaker 1: The show is really cool. You can pick up some
- 53:26Speaker 1: nice little hits because I like to show because there
- 53:28Speaker 1: are three different points of views. And that really helps
- 53:31Speaker 1: me out because it lets me know that everybody who
- 53:34Speaker 1: cooks are bake has their own take on something. And
- 53:37Speaker 1: sometimes when I watch the show, by looking at a
- 53:40Speaker 1: different persons take, I said, oh yeah, I would have
- 53:42Speaker 1: done it that way. That's why I really like to
- 53:44Speaker 1: show one of the layers, several layers of the same meal.
- 53:48Speaker 1: It is and it takes a lot of the classics
- 53:51Speaker 1: that you're you may have grown up on it with
- 53:53Speaker 1: as a kid, or you may be aware of you
- 53:54Speaker 1: tasted before. But we put a little twist to it
- 53:57Speaker 1: and kind of bring it into where we are current
- 54:00Speaker 1: flee and how people eat and with their time and
- 54:02Speaker 1: their budget. I got my Quip electric toothbrush. I love
- 54:05Speaker 1: my smiles, I love my teeth. When was the last
- 54:08Speaker 1: time you replaced your toothbrush? Do you always brush twice
