- 1:35Speaker 1: Conversation Masterclass, the One and Only Earthquake. Hey, how are
- 1:40Speaker 1: you doing, brother, Brother? Brother? Well, you know some man earthquake. Um.
- 1:46Speaker 1: First of all, Um, I can I can start nine
- 1:49Speaker 1: talk about the comedy special that that's right now streaming
- 1:52Speaker 1: on Netflix. And when I saw it it featured in
- 1:55Speaker 1: the trade magazines. I didn't know that the special had
- 1:59Speaker 1: already been taped last summer. So talk about the sequence
- 2:03Speaker 1: of how that happened and then it was announced coming
- 2:06Speaker 1: out in the spring. Um. I got a call from
- 2:10Speaker 1: my agent and she said, the president of a comedy
- 2:15Speaker 1: for next Flix, one of my number so he can
- 2:19Speaker 1: give it today because Dave and Netflix has came to
- 2:24Speaker 1: a verbal agreement, uh to produce my special. And I
- 2:30Speaker 1: said sure. I thought it was a prank. Uh, and
- 2:35Speaker 1: you know, I said show. And then ten minutes later
- 2:38Speaker 1: Dave called me and said he wanted to produce my special.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So that's how I came to Fruition. Cool. Now, when
- 2:45Speaker 1: you look at your career, I can, um you know,
- 2:48Speaker 1: my career as a personal relationship. They've they've described a
- 2:51Speaker 1: personal story about you at this comedy club, my personal story.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I met you at your comedy club, and uh, when
- 2:59Speaker 1: I would just tell you out, he wore me out,
- 3:04Speaker 1: took me out. Let me know, this is Quake's house
- 3:07Speaker 1: in Atlanta, Georgia, had me go back to my hotel
- 3:10Speaker 1: room looking at my little comedy routine. But you rewriting jokes.
- 3:16Speaker 1: But he was just doing when he was doing. Because
- 3:18Speaker 1: I heard about it. I walked in there with my
- 3:21Speaker 1: credits because see Dave Chappine, man, he said it right. Man,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you are a legendary man and you're funny, but you're
- 3:28Speaker 1: good brother at heart at heart, you know, because it's
- 3:31Speaker 1: all it's like, um met the Jerry Rice at Rob receiver.
- 3:35Speaker 1: If you rob receiver coming in, you look over there,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you see earthquake, you go. You can walk around and
- 3:41Speaker 1: ignore him. But in a minute, if you ignore him,
- 3:45Speaker 1: he gonna let you know who he will, who he is.
- 3:47Speaker 1: That's what happened to me at his comedy club. I
- 3:50Speaker 1: knew who he was, but I ignored him until he
- 3:53Speaker 1: got on stage before me, and then I had to
- 3:57Speaker 1: show the respect. But that's been a testament of your
- 4:00Speaker 1: entire career that people who may not know you, but
- 4:04Speaker 1: after they see you, they know you the real deal.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Correct earthquake. Yes, I mean because I just believed let
- 4:12Speaker 1: the work speak for itself. There's nothing else. I always
- 4:16Speaker 1: felt in our profession that stage is an equalizer. The
- 4:20Speaker 1: credits can get you applause in the beginning, but the jokes,
- 4:27Speaker 1: the work, you could tell who works on their craft
- 4:31Speaker 1: and who's in our craft, um deserve to be there.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And I think that so I always concentrated on the
- 4:38Speaker 1: workers work speak for itself. Now, one of my art
- 4:43Speaker 1: tastes and one of my all time favorite jokes that
- 4:45Speaker 1: you did was the dog doing O. J. Simpson Trial.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But it's the ability to take abstract characters bring it
- 4:57Speaker 1: like like they actually real you know what I'm saying. No, no,
- 5:00Speaker 1: don't talk now dog gate talk, But do you we
- 5:03Speaker 1: believe in the dog and talk based on you? What
- 5:07Speaker 1: what is the sequence of it? Just listen to people,
- 5:09Speaker 1: because I know it's a stand up comedy comic. At
- 5:13Speaker 1: one point you just trying to be funny, and then
- 5:15Speaker 1: at some point it's just like a college degree. It's
- 5:17Speaker 1: like class two plus two equal four. You learned to
- 5:20Speaker 1: sequence things together and you're just funny and you know
- 5:24Speaker 1: how to make things funny. How do you look at
- 5:26Speaker 1: the world through the eyes of earthquake? Um? It's uh,
- 5:32Speaker 1: it's my tag. These ain't jokes. I think it starts
- 5:37Speaker 1: from reality or realistic to me. I tell people every
- 5:42Speaker 1: time to answer me, how you do it? I say,
- 5:44Speaker 1: It's like, it's just like being in the hood, man,
- 5:47Speaker 1: it's a it's the truth that bloms that blossom into
- 5:51Speaker 1: a big lie. Right. I was fighting this one dude, man,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and then by the time to get to you, ra
- 5:58Speaker 1: Sean man, I was fighting nineteen mine and I slammed
- 6:00Speaker 1: one underneath the dope and it was two over came
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then Mama came on and I slapped it. Mama.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It was like one dude and the last for one second.
- 6:10Speaker 1: But by the time it got back got to you.
- 6:12Speaker 1: With Shawan it was nineteen dudes had it for him.
- 6:16Speaker 1: With with that had guns. The other dude had a knife. Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 1: so that's my philosophy. It always start from a grain,
- 6:26Speaker 1: from the original foundation of the truth. That's why I
- 6:28Speaker 1: say these ain't jokes, That's where it comes from. These
- 6:31Speaker 1: ain't jokes, right, you know? As a as a stand
- 6:33Speaker 1: up comic man, it is really um an interesting craft.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It's a very lonely craft. A lot of people think that,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you know, it's a stand up you're happy all the time.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You know, you you run abound just making everybody laugh.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But really, can you explain the people the world of
- 6:47Speaker 1: a standard comedian from a standpoint of how we have
- 6:51Speaker 1: to how we see things, which sometimes it's good and
- 6:54Speaker 1: bad because sometimes we see too much. Well, I'll tell
- 6:58Speaker 1: anybody if you if you don't like yourself, this ain't
- 7:02Speaker 1: the profession for you. If you know, because you're gonna
- 7:06Speaker 1: spend a lot of time with yourself. It's like golf man.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Can nobody else walk? Is? Uh walk these greens? But
- 7:19Speaker 1: you um and But it's such rewarding man with Sean,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it's a rewarding profession just to see these people because
- 7:29Speaker 1: I look at people. We're mental health providers. Um we
- 7:36Speaker 1: we especially for our community. We change perspective about people
- 7:41Speaker 1: because you know when you had your club and that
- 7:44Speaker 1: they're coming in. Man, is I don't know what with
- 7:47Speaker 1: the way in the world and one profession and it's
- 7:51Speaker 1: only professional I like musical, anything else, anything else out here.
- 7:56Speaker 1: We need the uninvited attention. So you gotta get the
- 8:00Speaker 1: avouted attention, then break through all that and then get
- 8:03Speaker 1: them to do something they can't get their self to do.
- 8:06Speaker 1: That's laugh right, that's a hell of the obstacle, man,
- 8:11Speaker 1: especially for people they're sitting the front man anybody, right.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I mean I used when I own my club, I said, listen,
- 8:19Speaker 1: please be nice to these people coming here, because you're
- 8:21Speaker 1: making the comics John even worse. I mean, please with
- 8:25Speaker 1: the way you serve, the way you give the ticket,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you make the show. I used to talk about staff
- 8:30Speaker 1: all the time. You're just as important as the comedians
- 8:34Speaker 1: because if you set the tone there, then they're open
- 8:37Speaker 1: themselves up to be entertained. So it's the hardest profession
- 8:42Speaker 1: in the world. But the most reward fulfilling we know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: like uh, the word sold out. I'm talking about audiences. Audiences,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know they you know, earthquake, They're coming in and
- 8:55Speaker 1: see you. Talk to everybody and tell them that feeling
- 8:59Speaker 1: of knowing that you look out there because we always
- 9:02Speaker 1: peep behind the curtain. We always ask the people, how's
- 9:05Speaker 1: it looking out there? And they said and she left.
- 9:07Speaker 1: All so that, brother, we've added the show. Talk about
- 9:11Speaker 1: that feeling. Man Um, it's the best feeling, second to
- 9:16Speaker 1: having your channel. Um it's up. It's validation. People actually
- 9:23Speaker 1: took the harder money, stopped doing what they do, and
- 9:27Speaker 1: king say, I am spending this money to come to
- 9:30Speaker 1: see you right there. I mean the gratitude, I mean
- 9:35Speaker 1: achievement and as a comic until comedians all the time,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and I learned this from you and from you and Steve.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That shows that you actually matters in our profession. When
- 9:49Speaker 1: you can put your name on a market or build
- 9:52Speaker 1: board or sign and people stop and say, hey, I'm
- 9:55Speaker 1: coming to see with Sean McDonald. Give me two tickets.
- 9:58Speaker 1: You got in and then they said no, we don't
- 10:00Speaker 1: have come on, let's go here earlier. Now we got
- 10:09Speaker 1: they can't get no ticket to see you, and it's
- 10:12Speaker 1: since the most gratifying thing in the world. We'll be
- 10:16Speaker 1: right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 10:24Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You know the thing that I follow your social media
- 10:34Speaker 1: and you know we all want numbers, We always want
- 10:38Speaker 1: to engage in everything. But your social media is almost
- 10:42Speaker 1: like social commentary. That's why I added the words social
- 10:45Speaker 1: activists your introduction, because you do a running commentary I
- 10:51Speaker 1: feel with your social media by videos that you post,
- 10:55Speaker 1: pictures that you find, talk about your approach to social
- 11:00Speaker 1: media and how you are defining your voice or finding
- 11:04Speaker 1: your voice in your social post. Well, you know, some
- 11:10Speaker 1: of the most educated people in the world don't don't
- 11:15Speaker 1: have how can I put this, uh, the prestige diplomas
- 11:23Speaker 1: or degrees to back up their education. So I've met
- 11:27Speaker 1: some of the smartest people that never went to school.
- 11:30Speaker 1: They was the most intelligent people in my life. And
- 11:35Speaker 1: and um, simplicity has always been great for me. Just
- 11:39Speaker 1: keep it simple and to get to the point that
- 11:43Speaker 1: you asked me about, I just talked about when everybody
- 11:47Speaker 1: else thinking because all you have to do. You know
- 11:50Speaker 1: what I mean, don't say that man, you be I'm
- 11:54Speaker 1: saying some man, I'll be looking at what you be saying, like, oh,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I never saw that this boy is. And you know
- 12:00Speaker 1: the in the in the in the comedy world, somebody
- 12:02Speaker 1: call your food. That's actually a major compliment to this
- 12:05Speaker 1: boy food. This boy crazy, which is another compliment because
- 12:09Speaker 1: now we needs a PC world. You know they got
- 12:11Speaker 1: explained stuff. We used the word crazy and food and
- 12:14Speaker 1: all that stuff. You gotta explain. That's a positive in
- 12:17Speaker 1: the comedy world. And you are doing stuff man, because
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know, you look at it and it's work. A
- 12:23Speaker 1: lot of people think that posting or grabbing ideas is is.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So he just found that somewhere. That's a lot of work. Yes,
- 12:31Speaker 1: there's a lot of research. Shout out to my team. Um,
- 12:35Speaker 1: we go through it. Her name is Star, She's one
- 12:38Speaker 1: of the greatest person that handles my thing for me.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We sit down, she knows my voice, yes of course,
- 12:47Speaker 1: no my voice, and together we uh we uh. We
- 12:52Speaker 1: get together and say this is the direction I want
- 12:55Speaker 1: to go, and we see different things that we like.
- 12:58Speaker 1: This is quick. This can you believe that n't you
- 13:02Speaker 1: believe this person is doing this? And you know, to
- 13:06Speaker 1: get that reaction, everybody with it and so many people
- 13:09Speaker 1: like where did you find that? I love it? Man?
- 13:13Speaker 1: I love it, And it was one of the reasons,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, you know, I wanted to make sure I
- 13:17Speaker 1: interviewed you on my platform. Money making conversation Master collapses
- 13:20Speaker 1: because a lot of people see talent like you. They
- 13:23Speaker 1: see the end results. They don't see the work. They
- 13:25Speaker 1: think that you stopped working. They think that you just
- 13:27Speaker 1: focused on this, but really it's a three sixty that
- 13:30Speaker 1: you're doing. Like I said, you're an actor, you're a comedian,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you're social activit, which means that you're an influence on
- 13:35Speaker 1: social media. And then as you have a radio show,
- 13:37Speaker 1: which means you you're able to communicate tell us about
- 13:40Speaker 1: your radio show. You even take phone calls, you play music.
- 13:43Speaker 1: What is your radio show? Um No, My show is
- 13:46Speaker 1: called Quake House, and it's kind of like comedians view.
- 13:51Speaker 1: We took. We deal with hot topics, different segments and
- 13:56Speaker 1: we do have guests that comes on periodically, um A
- 14:01Speaker 1: list guesses and our interview and what I want to
- 14:04Speaker 1: do like I've always done in my career, is whatever
- 14:09Speaker 1: I achieved in my career. I try to have a
- 14:11Speaker 1: platform to bring the next comedian that or nothing else.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But if I can't help the next comedian, expand our genre.
- 14:24Speaker 1: People know how great this profession is. I think personally speaking,
- 14:28Speaker 1: don't too many of us give back to the genre.
- 14:33Speaker 1: This is this would allow you to be this movie star,
- 14:37Speaker 1: this game show hostess, this uh talk show, this movie star,
- 14:44Speaker 1: this TV start. Just do something that allows you know
- 14:49Speaker 1: your name to um to expand the john for the
- 14:53Speaker 1: next person said to yourself, can capitalize on it, make it,
- 14:57Speaker 1: you know, expand I'd say, you don't have to help me.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Help whoever you think is funny, and you help them.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It us spanned the genre. Eventually it will come back
- 15:08Speaker 1: to me because they thank you funny. Wait till until
- 15:12Speaker 1: they get to see me and I has always been
- 15:14Speaker 1: my attitude. Yes now that The interesting thing about it
- 15:18Speaker 1: is that when we look at the comedy special that
- 15:21Speaker 1: you did, you know, it's always into fund me because
- 15:25Speaker 1: I think I know somebody. I didn't know you from
- 15:27Speaker 1: d C. You know, because I met you in Atlanta.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I thought you were Atlanta born in Bread. I thought
- 15:32Speaker 1: that was your whole hood was from Atlanta or people
- 15:35Speaker 1: loved you in Atlanta. So how did you make the
- 15:37Speaker 1: journey from d C to Atlanta and then Atlanta. Basically
- 15:41Speaker 1: it became to me, your your home, your voice. Um, well,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I was in the military for nine years and I
- 15:49Speaker 1: wanted to do twenty years, but the war broke out.
- 15:52Speaker 1: So I told him, I said, I home, mind practicing
- 15:55Speaker 1: for war, but I ain't fighting for real. I'm gonna
- 15:59Speaker 1: stand to get shot at. So they're getting out the military.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I didn't want to go back home from d C.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I've been a military. Was nothing there, opportunity I feel
- 16:11Speaker 1: for me, but illegal pharmaceuticals. So I turned on you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I watch a lot of TV, different educational shows, mostly
- 16:19Speaker 1: like Seeing Man and stuff, and you know, you see
- 16:21Speaker 1: the poles. They always got poles and one of the
- 16:24Speaker 1: botes what is the best top five cities that that
- 16:28Speaker 1: man should go for the best advantage in their life,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and they had Alanta number one. I said, well that's
- 16:34Speaker 1: where I'm going. So I got out the military, went
- 16:36Speaker 1: to Atlanta and we're on stage and they started doing
- 16:43Speaker 1: common that first of all, you said, you saw a pole,
- 16:48Speaker 1: said the back black black, best city for black people
- 16:51Speaker 1: to go through with Atlanta. You go to Atlanta, you
- 16:53Speaker 1: just go on stage. You didn't just go to another
- 16:56Speaker 1: comedy club. You see some comics. And what I mean
- 17:00Speaker 1: I was when I was in the military, I knew
- 17:02Speaker 1: I was, I had to do something else. And then
- 17:06Speaker 1: you said the usoor you know stuff in that and
- 17:10Speaker 1: I found you know, they used to call me skating
- 17:12Speaker 1: quick well, skating stroke without anything to get out of work.
- 17:16Speaker 1: You know, I used to be a polled barryman on
- 17:19Speaker 1: guard anything to get out of work man. So I
- 17:23Speaker 1: did a little hosting in there in the military, and
- 17:26Speaker 1: you couldn't talk about sex. She couldn't talk about I mean,
- 17:30Speaker 1: he had to be Bob Hope. So I was. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: learnt from there. So when I got the military, I
- 17:35Speaker 1: went on and I took this girl to a comedy clip.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And when I tell you, this chick was, I mean,
- 17:41Speaker 1: it was shocked. She was all on the floor. Happened.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I said, I said, if you want to sleep with
- 17:48Speaker 1: this dude, they say you want to sleep with him,
- 17:52Speaker 1: but he ain't all that. You just jealous, I said,
- 17:55Speaker 1: I jealous, But I mean he's funny, but that ain't
- 17:58Speaker 1: the funniest thing. So she said, when you do better,
- 18:04Speaker 1: And of course I went and tried, and there's nothingness came.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It's been that way every since came in my life. Well,
- 18:12Speaker 1: I wonder what tiphany was? No plan, It was just
- 18:15Speaker 1: what I tell everybody was that best decision that day,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and another better decision hasn't came this way. Well, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: did they tell me that our podcast is the number
- 18:26Speaker 1: of the fastest drawing industry audible industry out there? I
- 18:30Speaker 1: know you got a serious X. Are you gonna do podcasts? No?
- 18:35Speaker 1: I mean, I'm really good with my radio show. I
- 18:38Speaker 1: really want to continue that. Man. I've really learned from
- 18:42Speaker 1: y'all about it. I love radio and I don't think
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna jump onto the podcast unless they offered me
- 18:50Speaker 1: a lot of money. Okay, cool, Well, well I think
- 18:54Speaker 1: that's gonna come your weight. Okay, you know what, I
- 18:58Speaker 1: get close to the bike, I'm looking at you. I'm
- 19:00Speaker 1: looking at it because you're special talent, man, You're you're
- 19:03Speaker 1: an individual. I guess I gotta at least ask you
- 19:06Speaker 1: this course, where did earthquake come from? Where did the
- 19:09Speaker 1: name earthquake come from? Um, to be quite honest with you, man,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I use earthquake because in case. You know, she was
- 19:18Speaker 1: right that I wasn't funny. I don't wanna mess up
- 19:20Speaker 1: my good name. So so this didn't work. Hey earthquake, Like,
- 19:28Speaker 1: hey man, my name the dang earthquake? When you the
- 19:33Speaker 1: comedian that got no comment Daniel s come up there
- 19:40Speaker 1: and say, some dudes right here, No, that wasn't me.
- 19:43Speaker 1: So it came from the insecurity not having to believe
- 19:46Speaker 1: that maybe you know this, this did hit the bricks,
- 19:51Speaker 1: you would saying, go to a stray, I wouldn't mess
- 19:55Speaker 1: up my good name. Well, you know, so what is
- 19:57Speaker 1: the future for earthquake man? Because it took me for
- 20:00Speaker 1: ever to line up this interview. You had radio shows,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you had tour date your interviews. So obviously life is
- 20:07Speaker 1: beautiful you for you right now, but we know there's
- 20:09Speaker 1: always more. What is the future of Earthquake? Well, I'm finally,
- 20:14Speaker 1: um gonna go on my own personal own tour called
- 20:21Speaker 1: Earthquake Legendary Tour. Um. Yes, I'm developed my own TV show.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna do I'm gonna do more movies and I'm
- 20:34Speaker 1: gonna stay on the ready God's will and then you know,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna continue to tour. I
- 20:41Speaker 1: love comedy. Stand up comedy is great for me. I
- 20:44Speaker 1: never want to leave it. I think. I tell people
- 20:46Speaker 1: all the time, comedy is like a woman. You can
- 20:50Speaker 1: take a break from it, but you can never leave her.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Leave her, you ain't gonna never get her back. So
- 20:56Speaker 1: I vowed that I will always do this, and I
- 20:59Speaker 1: love it. It's so refleshing. So the media's and toy
- 21:03Speaker 1: stars and m July and we're doing forty uh for
- 21:09Speaker 1: thirty cities. Me and Don there robins and they're funny.
- 21:13Speaker 1: That's the immediate to think, Yeah, very funny, brother. And
- 21:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna drop another tour on I mean another special
- 21:20Speaker 1: Nextflix next year. Wow. So the venues are the Comedic Club,
- 21:25Speaker 1: they're small, two thousand, three thousands. We're going five thousand.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You're stepping out there. Okay, okay, okay, mr, mr sir,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you start talking about five thousands, Brothers, come on that,
- 21:39Speaker 1: come on. We had two or three now we're two
- 21:43Speaker 1: or three. So with the blessing of God, with the
- 21:46Speaker 1: response that I've got from my special as made, tell
- 21:50Speaker 1: me about that response. Man. First of all, let me
- 21:52Speaker 1: get you my response first, you know, because I text
- 21:55Speaker 1: you a picture I'll be watching it, you know. Let
- 21:58Speaker 1: you know all screen. Okay, I'm watching you brother. You
- 22:02Speaker 1: are what you say you are legendary. My take was
- 22:06Speaker 1: man that um because this I always tell people when
- 22:10Speaker 1: you know, something funny. Because my wife was in the kitchen,
- 22:12Speaker 1: you know, cooking all right, and then I'm just laughing.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And then next thing you know, she leaning behind my back,
- 22:19Speaker 1: right who that you watch the earthquake? Next thing you know,
- 22:24Speaker 1: she next to me watching and laughing. I go, what
- 22:27Speaker 1: happened to the cooking? Oh? That can wait? That can wait?
- 22:30Speaker 1: See see see that. They say I took somebody who
- 22:33Speaker 1: wasn't even interested and what was going on? Because she
- 22:36Speaker 1: was cooking, you know, and she went, people, you can't
- 22:39Speaker 1: talk and you can't talk to her. Watch she cooking,
- 22:41Speaker 1: all right? She one of those people. Can't you see
- 22:43Speaker 1: him cooking? Okay? Baby? I was sorry. I'm just gonna
- 22:46Speaker 1: sliding there and watch earthquake by myself. Okay, did I'm laughing?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Did she behind me? Just standing? He funny? I look
- 22:57Speaker 1: back at it. Don't say nothing earthquake? Right next thing
- 23:00Speaker 1: you know, c still got the spatula in my hands,
- 23:02Speaker 1: sitting next to me. I said, ad you cooking like
- 23:06Speaker 1: I told you. So that lets you know that what
- 23:11Speaker 1: you're doing is relatable. It also can make people stop
- 23:16Speaker 1: what they're doing. It grabs their attention and also forces
- 23:20Speaker 1: them because force, because you are a forced my brother,
- 23:23Speaker 1: you are a comedy force, and that forces such positivity
- 23:28Speaker 1: that you go, wow, he's special. That's what my response is.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Not tell me what America's response. Because you're doing five
- 23:36Speaker 1: thousand Caesars Now, it's overwhelming and you can see it
- 23:41Speaker 1: when you know it's a comic. When you walk in
- 23:43Speaker 1: clubs and I'm talking about mainstream clubs, how you doing great?
- 23:51Speaker 1: Can't we do something? You know? And you know, our
- 23:57Speaker 1: Caucasian counterparts come to you and said, you know, I
- 24:01Speaker 1: checked for me, I don't know about you. I love
- 24:06Speaker 1: competing against man without Caucasian comedians to let them know
- 24:12Speaker 1: that we don't because they think we need some of them,
- 24:16Speaker 1: not saying all of them something that the stigma is
- 24:19Speaker 1: that we need to cuss. We don't. We don't write
- 24:23Speaker 1: out you know it's urban no man, no, no, no,
- 24:28Speaker 1: no no. I'm gonna show you how we do it.
- 24:30Speaker 1: We we can. We compete at the highest level of
- 24:34Speaker 1: the highest level intellectually and when it was being accepted
- 24:39Speaker 1: from I mean every comedian, no matter what's your nationality
- 24:45Speaker 1: that's in this fields telling you this is the greatest
- 24:48Speaker 1: thing that they ever seen. It was this rewarding and
- 24:51Speaker 1: it's always been rewarding. I love my fans to the death.
- 24:55Speaker 1: There my number one supporters that the grad I really
- 25:00Speaker 1: fan a special gratitude and humility when it's come from
- 25:06Speaker 1: the piers such as persons such as yourself, because you
- 25:10Speaker 1: have always been honest with me. You came to me
- 25:12Speaker 1: and say, man, you don't need to say that while
- 25:15Speaker 1: you when we was doing on different shows together. Don't
- 25:18Speaker 1: cuss on that. Don't do this. That's all you need
- 25:21Speaker 1: to do. And I've always took the advice, and I
- 25:23Speaker 1: always appreciate your advice, and I always have felt good
- 25:28Speaker 1: when I received your approval because you have always been
- 25:32Speaker 1: a student of the game. Oh man. So I appreciate
- 25:35Speaker 1: those compliments, but more important, I appreciate you taking the
- 25:37Speaker 1: time and come on money making conversations, master Glad. You
- 25:40Speaker 1: are a beast. You are somebody Please tell me when
- 25:43Speaker 1: you when the tickets go on sale, so I can
- 25:45Speaker 1: put it on my social media and make that announcement.
- 25:48Speaker 1: In my newsletter that goes out to a hundred eight
- 25:50Speaker 1: thousand people. Because you are a winner, brother, and I
- 25:53Speaker 1: love you brother. Thank you ever quick. I love you more. Man,
- 25:57Speaker 1: and keep doing what you're doing. Man, and you owe
- 25:59Speaker 1: me if because I'm tired to look at that all
- 26:01Speaker 1: you know, a gaining waiting again some of the some
- 26:08Speaker 1: of them deserts. Man, I look at I'm ready when
- 26:11Speaker 1: I get down to a town where you had, I'm
- 26:13Speaker 1: knocking on you. You tell your beautiful wife I said,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I love Okay. I thank you brother, and stay strong, okay,

- 26:45Speaker 1: The super reality TV producer of Kingdom rains about his
- 26:49Speaker 1: hit TV show Love and Marriage Huntsville. I asked him,
- 26:53Speaker 1: what is his magic producing sauce? It's creating all these
- 26:56Speaker 1: hit reality shows. His answer is the main thing that
- 27:00Speaker 1: I did that a lot of other reality producers don't
- 27:04Speaker 1: do if I ask permission, I said, because you're telling
- 27:09Speaker 1: you this is what you're going through. Are you comfortable

- 27:35Speaker 1: Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. As I said, today is uh.
- 27:40Speaker 1: This month, not just today, is National Financial Literacy Month
- 27:43Speaker 1: and is celebrated in the month of Agel April. My
- 27:45Speaker 1: guest today is Dr Lennon Richardson. She is by far
- 27:49Speaker 1: my most popular guest that calls on this show. If
- 27:51Speaker 1: you consider yourself in need of advice in terms of financing,
- 27:55Speaker 1: then you are not alone. You've heard Kurt, you heard
- 27:57Speaker 1: Mrs Evans. She she was calling about the final creative,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and she dove open to that conferensations. You've heard my
- 28:03Speaker 1: personal testimony. It does not matter if you had just
- 28:06Speaker 1: started earning, nor have been earning for a long time.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Every day has a chance to reflect upon your spending
- 28:11Speaker 1: and improve your financing. Here's some notes about Dr Lenn
- 28:14Speaker 1: Richardson belies that the way to build wealth is to
- 28:17Speaker 1: spend less money by implementing proper budgeting and debt elimination strategies.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Get more money by implementing wise investment strategies, and by
- 28:26Speaker 1: developing multiple streams of income, including owning a home based business.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And three get your money back through proper tax education.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Please welcome to Money Making Conversation Master Class. Again she's
- 28:39Speaker 1: a financial guru. I call our financial genius, Dr Lynn Richardson.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well, well, well, thank rather, thank you so much,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Mr McDonald. Well, I would tell you so whenever this
- 28:55Speaker 1: this show has been on fire, uh since it started.
- 28:58Speaker 1: You know, I I had had one person calling my
- 29:01Speaker 1: bragging segment and he would noted that he has a
- 29:05Speaker 1: app called stop Stockification, where you know, you invest fifty
- 29:10Speaker 1: dollars a day, a hundred dollars a day, and that
- 29:12Speaker 1: the market would always correct yourself or ten, fifteen, twenty
- 29:15Speaker 1: year period, and he was saying that that the average
- 29:20Speaker 1: Black person when they die leaving the wealth to a
- 29:24Speaker 1: relative is four thousand dollars. The average white person when
- 29:27Speaker 1: they die leaving wealth is a hundred and four thousand dollars.
- 29:31Speaker 1: You have been educating us this whole process. What has
- 29:35Speaker 1: frustrated you much? Maybe not frustrated you, but disappointed you,
- 29:38Speaker 1: or that you believe that how can we as a
- 29:40Speaker 1: community do better about our financial leadership? Dr Lynn, you
- 29:45Speaker 1: know that's such a great question. And I would have
- 29:47Speaker 1: to say that the number one played for the number
- 29:50Speaker 1: one area that would that frustrates me, and I would
- 29:54Speaker 1: say that to frustrate anybody is the one area where
- 29:57Speaker 1: we have absolute control. You see, we wake up every day.
- 30:02Speaker 1: We have no control over the weather. You have no
- 30:04Speaker 1: control over your friends. You have no control over your
- 30:07Speaker 1: family members. Sometimes people are coming and going, sometimes they're not.
- 30:11Speaker 1: People are shady, the weather is crazy, your money can
- 30:13Speaker 1: be funny, and your change can be strange. But the
- 30:16Speaker 1: one thing we all have control over, every last one
- 30:19Speaker 1: of us, is how much wealth we leave when we die.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And Rassan, I want us to stop using go fund
- 30:27Speaker 1: me as a life insurance strategy. I want us to
- 30:31Speaker 1: stop using go fund me and crowdfunding because here's the
- 30:35Speaker 1: real deal. There was one guaranteed way to build wealth.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Because every last one of us has to do two things.
- 30:42Speaker 1: We have to pay taxes and one day we have
- 30:45Speaker 1: to leave up out of here. And when we leave here,
- 30:48Speaker 1: we have the ability to get enough life insurance to
- 30:51Speaker 1: not just take care of our last rights and rights
- 30:54Speaker 1: of passage and the funeral and them and the repasses
- 30:57Speaker 1: on those things, but we have the ability to carry
- 31:00Speaker 1: on wealth to future generations. Rashan, when I was on
- 31:04Speaker 1: food stamp, I was worth more dead than a live.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm not you know. That just is what it is,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and most people are anyway. But I had enough life
- 31:13Speaker 1: insurance to ensure that my three children could graduate from college,
- 31:19Speaker 1: could live the lifestyles that I envisioned for them. And
- 31:22Speaker 1: that that's not to say that they would have just
- 31:24Speaker 1: been wealthy and foot loose and fancy free. They would
- 31:27Speaker 1: have had a trust fund, and they still would have
- 31:29Speaker 1: had to work to sustain themselves, but they would have
- 31:32Speaker 1: had enough wealth to sustain themselves to a certain degree,
- 31:36Speaker 1: be able to continue their education and then pass that
- 31:39Speaker 1: wealth onto their children and their children's children. The Bible
- 31:43Speaker 1: says that a good man a good woman leads an
- 31:46Speaker 1: inheritance to a children's children. And I if I could
- 31:49Speaker 1: just say anything about spend less money, get your money back,
- 31:53Speaker 1: make your money very, spend less money, get more money,
- 31:56Speaker 1: get your money back, I would also say make your
- 31:59Speaker 1: money grow through proper investments. And insurance is one of
- 32:02Speaker 1: those investments. You know, I um, I have to agree,
- 32:07Speaker 1: But it's just so much though, Dr Lynn, when you
- 32:11Speaker 1: you know, like you said, the go fund me is
- 32:12Speaker 1: really cute, you know, you say, just see I'm trying
- 32:16Speaker 1: to I'm down on my luck or I'm struggling. If
- 32:19Speaker 1: you can just put some money in my go fund
- 32:22Speaker 1: me account. You know they're gonna take a fee when
- 32:25Speaker 1: you put it there. That's not all your money. They're
- 32:27Speaker 1: gonna take a fee a percentage of that, so know
- 32:29Speaker 1: that going in. So anytime you think you're trying to
- 32:32Speaker 1: get over and think you're getting something easy, somebody is
- 32:35Speaker 1: taking a percentage of that. And that's what you're saying.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Do it right and establish a relationship where there's an app,
- 32:41Speaker 1: do your homework or with a small broke brokerage firm,
- 32:45Speaker 1: so you can have a long term plan instead of
- 32:47Speaker 1: this quick, get get over plan. And that's what people
- 32:50Speaker 1: are doing with these go fund me accounts because you
- 32:52Speaker 1: see him on the news all the time. Immediate after
- 32:54Speaker 1: if somebody has done something or some tragedy or a
- 32:57Speaker 1: house burned down, or unfortunate death and meet quick death
- 33:00Speaker 1: in their family, the news is always saying, go fund me,
- 33:03Speaker 1: set up and go fund me, go set up and
- 33:04Speaker 1: go fund me account. And that's not the way it
- 33:06Speaker 1: goes in the real world of trying to get your
- 33:08Speaker 1: life straight financially correct. You know, no one has passed
- 33:14Speaker 1: on generational wealth by way of a go fund me account.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And what people need to also understand is that those
- 33:21Speaker 1: go fund me accounts can be shut down. So if
- 33:24Speaker 1: there is anything, yeah, there's any kind of pant of impropriety,
- 33:29Speaker 1: if there's when you set up a goal fund me account,
- 33:31Speaker 1: it has to be used for the purposes for which
- 33:35Speaker 1: um it was created. And so if the whole idea is,
- 33:38Speaker 1: for example, and we don't like to talk about death,
- 33:41Speaker 1: we'll talk about everything else. People talk about sex, they
- 33:43Speaker 1: talk about drugs, they talk about everything else. But they
- 33:46Speaker 1: don't want to talk about death and we don't want
- 33:48Speaker 1: to talk about money. And as zig Ziggler said, money
- 33:51Speaker 1: is like oxygen. You gotta have it. I don't care
- 33:53Speaker 1: where you go, what you do, when you look up, down,
- 33:56Speaker 1: all the way around. We're gonna have to talk about money.
- 33:59Speaker 1: We're spending money every single time we go outside, every
- 34:02Speaker 1: single time we wake up, every time, every single time
- 34:04Speaker 1: you get in your car and drive gas money. Can
- 34:07Speaker 1: anybody say gas money? So we have to talk about it.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And the truth is, if we make the decision. You see,
- 34:14Speaker 1: this is a choice, Rashwan, this is a choice. I
- 34:17Speaker 1: am going to choose to spend my money on something.
- 34:21Speaker 1: For some of us, that may be furniture. For some
- 34:24Speaker 1: of us, that may be jewelry. For some of us
- 34:26Speaker 1: that may be clothing. It may be our favorite meals. Um.
- 34:29Speaker 1: There's one study that says, particularly as African Americans, we
- 34:33Speaker 1: are eating our wealth away. UM. If we just take
- 34:37Speaker 1: the money that we spend on um uber eat, I'm
- 34:40Speaker 1: just gonna throw that in there. Uber eat a limit.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Say something over if you ought up all of the
- 34:48Speaker 1: money that's spent on Uber eats and um all of
- 34:53Speaker 1: the you know, grub hub and everything else. The delivery
- 34:56Speaker 1: places that deliver you your ten dollar hamburg or for
- 35:00Speaker 1: twenty seven dollars and cents if you if we take
- 35:04Speaker 1: that money, the average thirty five to forty year old
- 35:09Speaker 1: young man or young woman could have at least a
- 35:12Speaker 1: million dollars a million dollars in life insurance just with
- 35:16Speaker 1: your grub up money, just with your overeach money. I
- 35:20Speaker 1: didn't take away your sandwich. I didn't take away the pizza.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I didn't take away the submarine sandwich. I didn't take
- 35:25Speaker 1: away the French fract. I said, let me just take
- 35:28Speaker 1: the delivery feed that we are spending on those things
- 35:32Speaker 1: and allocated elsewhere. So you know that that was I'm
- 35:36Speaker 1: so passionate. As you know. We're stought about so many
- 35:38Speaker 1: areas and finances and all of them require grit, All
- 35:42Speaker 1: of them require grinds. You said it so many times.
- 35:45Speaker 1: And the way you telp others to build wealth and
- 35:47Speaker 1: build their careers. You gotta stick in there. You gotta
- 35:50Speaker 1: stay in there with life of us. You have to
- 35:53Speaker 1: stick to anything, just keep on living, pay the money
- 35:56Speaker 1: and been watch and see what happens when you transition.
- 35:59Speaker 1: So it's one of those things. It's an easy win
- 36:01Speaker 1: for us as a community life insurance. We've talked about that,
- 36:06Speaker 1: go fund me, stop using that, Stop using these grow
- 36:10Speaker 1: up hud apps and all these apps. Not saying it's negative,
- 36:13Speaker 1: just talking about, you know, go there and get the
- 36:16Speaker 1: food versus spending the feed. They have the food brought
- 36:18Speaker 1: to you. We had to call here Michael in Atlanta.
- 36:21Speaker 1: How are you doing, Michael, You're speaking to Dr Lynn
- 36:23Speaker 1: Richardson on Money Making Conversations master Class. What is your question?
- 36:28Speaker 1: I'm doing absolutely fine. Thank you so much for having
- 36:30Speaker 1: me on the show. UM. My question actually was about
- 36:33Speaker 1: life insurance. I actually ended up losing my job not
- 36:36Speaker 1: too long ago, and I just wanted to understand how
- 36:40Speaker 1: do I keep investing UM in my life insurance plan
- 36:43Speaker 1: when well, I mean, with this economy and everything going on,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I really don't know how to maintain it. I don't
- 36:49Speaker 1: really know what you do now you know that. Yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: that's an excellent question, and first of all, you know,
- 36:57Speaker 1: my my prayers are with you as you figure out
- 37:00Speaker 1: how to regroup. Regroup. Um. The number two things and
- 37:03Speaker 1: the overall financial strategy is to get more money, build
- 37:06Speaker 1: multiple streams of income, and so to that piece of it,
- 37:09Speaker 1: I would say, Um, start right now thinking about what
- 37:13Speaker 1: you can do. Start your own business, your own home
- 37:15Speaker 1: based business. Because one stream of income is has to
- 37:18Speaker 1: see your wealth. And one of the things I often say,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it doesn't matter if you're doctor, a lawyer, or a teacher,
- 37:24Speaker 1: you can still be an entrepreneur. A doctor can teach
- 37:28Speaker 1: health classes and tutor and things like that. A lawyer
- 37:32Speaker 1: can also teach legal clinics and teach people how not
- 37:35Speaker 1: to get shot if they get pulled over. Um. A
- 37:37Speaker 1: teacher can set up tutoring and so depending on what
- 37:40Speaker 1: your skill set is, whether it's your professional skill set
- 37:43Speaker 1: and or um, something that you have passion about or
- 37:46Speaker 1: that you are or that you enjoy doing, you set
- 37:49Speaker 1: up another stream of income. In terms of your life insurance.
- 37:52Speaker 1: You just hit a very key point. It is important
- 37:55Speaker 1: for every single one of us, and I'm saying everybody.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I don't care how many ALBS you have. It is
- 38:01Speaker 1: important for you to have your own life insurance policy
- 38:05Speaker 1: independence of your job, because if you lose your job,
- 38:10Speaker 1: you will also lose that life insurance. And by the
- 38:12Speaker 1: time you lose that job, you may be older. You
- 38:15Speaker 1: will be older. I mean even if it's just one day,
- 38:18Speaker 1: you'll be older, and you may not be in the
- 38:22Speaker 1: best health that you were in when you first got
- 38:24Speaker 1: the job or got the life insurance policy. So the
- 38:27Speaker 1: number one thing I'd say to you is um to
- 38:29Speaker 1: remember that this is the word in here, it's life.
- 38:32Speaker 1: This is your life. This literally is your life. And
- 38:36Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you from my own experience, it
- 38:40Speaker 1: did not matter. I was want food, fam I was,
- 38:43Speaker 1: you know, degreed in in finance, mathematics, business master degree.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I had been the vice president of a of a
- 38:51Speaker 1: major financial institution and I could not find a job.
- 38:54Speaker 1: But let me tell you what I had. I had
- 38:56Speaker 1: food samp, I had a roof over my head, and
- 38:59Speaker 1: I had some life insurance. Because here's what I knew.
- 39:02Speaker 1: As long as I have a roof over my head
- 39:04Speaker 1: and I have food on the table, I will not
- 39:06Speaker 1: be homeless and I will not be hungry. So you
- 39:08Speaker 1: get me pass those to two things. Go live with
- 39:11Speaker 1: my grandmother, whatever it takes to do to get there. Now,
- 39:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna grind and I'm gonna make sure I have
- 39:17Speaker 1: enough life insurance because just in case I don't wake up,
- 39:21Speaker 1: then my children would not feel the fall out of
- 39:24Speaker 1: my mispath. My children would not feel the fall out
- 39:26Speaker 1: my community, my generation. Some people say, well, I don't
- 39:29Speaker 1: have children, don't you care about something? Is there a
- 39:32Speaker 1: community center you'd like to build in your old neighborhood.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Is there something you'd like to donate to a school?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Is there a church? Is there a center? See what
- 39:40Speaker 1: other cultures do if they make sure that the next
- 39:43Speaker 1: group doesn't have to start over. And so my blessings
- 39:46Speaker 1: and my prayers are with you as you figure that
- 39:48Speaker 1: out and you find fifty dollars, sixty dollars or whatever
- 39:52Speaker 1: it is a month to figure out a way to
- 39:54Speaker 1: get some life insurance and to maintain it. Great, Um,
- 39:58Speaker 1: let me ask you this question because I'm not trying
- 40:01Speaker 1: to get into their life insurance expert conversation, but there
- 40:04Speaker 1: are different versions of life insurance. You have the term
- 40:07Speaker 1: life that I'm fair familiar with. Then you have a
- 40:10Speaker 1: whole and universal. Are you adverse enough to tell us
- 40:14Speaker 1: the difference? And why won't you go with the other there?
- 40:17Speaker 1: Dr Lamb Richardson, Absolutely so. In the in the early days,
- 40:21Speaker 1: if you're if you're financially uh, if you're struggling financially,
- 40:25Speaker 1: if you're trying to really hard to make ends, meet.
- 40:27Speaker 1: What I recommend in your early days of getting your
- 40:30Speaker 1: financial plan in order is to get as much term
- 40:34Speaker 1: life insurance as you can get a twenty or thirty
- 40:37Speaker 1: year term policy UM, that is temporary life insurance UM.
- 40:42Speaker 1: But instead of you only having let's say a hundred thousands,
- 40:45Speaker 1: you may have five hundred thousand or million, particularly if
- 40:48Speaker 1: you have children, if you have more than one child, UM,
- 40:51Speaker 1: if you have a parent, a grandparents. You see, Rashwan,
- 40:54Speaker 1: I had enough life insurance not just to take care
- 40:57Speaker 1: of my children, but my grandmother raised me. You've heard
- 41:00Speaker 1: me talk about grandma, and if something happened to me,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I wanted to make sure that there was enough money
- 41:07Speaker 1: to take care of her, to put her into not
- 41:11Speaker 1: just a nursing home, but a skilled facility that would
- 41:14Speaker 1: be able to support her comfortably during her last days.
- 41:19Speaker 1: And so when you get the life insurance policy, you
- 41:21Speaker 1: also set up a trust. The trust explains what to do.
- 41:26Speaker 1: The trust says, gives each child tuition money once a month,
- 41:30Speaker 1: or enough money for rent. It says, pay grandma's nursing
- 41:35Speaker 1: home bill, or whatever it does, because what we don't
- 41:37Speaker 1: want to do is leave this money for people to
- 41:39Speaker 1: just mess it up right, because we have to go
- 41:41Speaker 1: back from and kill everybody. That that's just you know,
- 41:47Speaker 1: because that's how we think. We're thinking, well, I don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: want to just leave it to him because then they're
- 41:51Speaker 1: gonna mess it up, and so we don't do anything. No.
- 41:54Speaker 1: A trust is a business plan for what happens to
- 41:56Speaker 1: your money until your assets after you die. So that's
- 42:00Speaker 1: term life. As you get a little more season, you
- 42:03Speaker 1: may want to convert some of your insurance to whole life.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Whole life is life insurance that will last you a lifetime.
- 42:11Speaker 1: You may have to pay it until you're sixty five
- 42:13Speaker 1: years old, where you may pay it until your seventy
- 42:15Speaker 1: five or whatever your particular contract says, but then that
- 42:19Speaker 1: life insurance is in place until you pass on. And
- 42:23Speaker 1: the good thing about whole life Rashaan is it's an
- 42:27Speaker 1: automatic built in savings plans. If you find yourself in
- 42:31Speaker 1: a situation where you need money to buy a house,
- 42:35Speaker 1: you can handle the emergency to live off of you
- 42:38Speaker 1: can pull down the money that has been placed into
- 42:41Speaker 1: that whole life saving portion. And then finally, universal There
- 42:45Speaker 1: are many different ways that you can use a universal policy,
- 42:49Speaker 1: but the number one way is to have its following
- 42:51Speaker 1: one of the top indexes in industries in the stock market.
- 42:55Speaker 1: So if you have a universal life policy and it
- 42:58Speaker 1: is outperforming the SMPS five hundred, then what you can
- 43:01Speaker 1: expect over time is that you're saving portion will grow,
- 43:05Speaker 1: just like the stock market. So there are multiple ways.
- 43:09Speaker 1: But I say to everyone, at least get started with
- 43:11Speaker 1: an inexpensive term policy and then uh your policy you know,
- 43:18Speaker 1: as you go along. And I would agree, alright, like
- 43:20Speaker 1: I said, I've had the I have, I've not had.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I have a universal policy, and the interest rate has
- 43:26Speaker 1: been no lord in four percent in the last fifteen years.
- 43:30Speaker 1: So that means when it was zero or one percent
- 43:33Speaker 1: or no percent, I've always had four percent minimum guaranteed
- 43:37Speaker 1: on my money that I had in my universal or
- 43:41Speaker 1: our whole policy. So she's telling the absolute truth. Yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 1: and that's about a hundred times better than what you're
- 43:48Speaker 1: gonna get in a stage of account at the bank.
- 43:50Speaker 1: It's about three times better than what you're gonna get
- 43:52Speaker 1: buying bond. And um, it's a great, great way to
- 43:56Speaker 1: have something stable. Um. But also that's that's growing with
- 43:59Speaker 1: the stock market. I love it. Yeah. And another note
- 44:01Speaker 1: she can tell you is that if you if you
- 44:03Speaker 1: if you can actually do a loan against the money
- 44:06Speaker 1: that you have, that so you actually can use your
- 44:09Speaker 1: money and not take it out, just take a loan
- 44:11Speaker 1: against it. And so it's just so many ways why
- 44:14Speaker 1: this is important to have a conversation doing national financial
- 44:17Speaker 1: Literacy made because we as a community, you have to
- 44:20Speaker 1: understand you don't have to always you know, you can
- 44:23Speaker 1: bar against your own money and then keep living a
- 44:25Speaker 1: great life instead of sitting over there playing high interest
- 44:27Speaker 1: rate or not being able to do anything because you're
- 44:31Speaker 1: frustrated because you didn't think out the process. We'll be
- 44:34Speaker 1: right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. Now,
- 44:42Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Our relationship with Dr Lynn Richardson goes back over ten
- 44:51Speaker 1: years fifteen years when he was a regular, a regular
- 44:55Speaker 1: on Steve Harvey's talk show as a financial expert. You've
- 44:58Speaker 1: seen her many times on Good mor in America. So
- 45:01Speaker 1: you're getting a person who's giving advice that's naturally recognized
- 45:05Speaker 1: and I also a voice that cares about the community.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And that's why it's important when she gives his advice
- 45:11Speaker 1: that you can hear that little extra passion in her
- 45:14Speaker 1: back because it's all bit up. She's like ready to
- 45:17Speaker 1: just just jump in and just tell you shake you
- 45:21Speaker 1: listen to me, you can do this. And that's really
- 45:24Speaker 1: what drives her. And that's what makes me really enjoyed
- 45:28Speaker 1: listening to you. I just sit back because when you
- 45:30Speaker 1: when you in in the blessed to be a part
- 45:34Speaker 1: of something unique, and that's when I have these conversations
- 45:36Speaker 1: with you, Dr Letts, and you're unique and very special
- 45:39Speaker 1: talent and what you're doing is just not normal. And
- 45:43Speaker 1: I really appreciate you coming on the show talking like this. Wow.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Let me tell you when you said, it's that little
- 45:50Speaker 1: passion like I just want to jump I do. I
- 45:52Speaker 1: want to just jump in your mind of the people
- 45:58Speaker 1: and just say go. If I had a remote control
- 46:02Speaker 1: and I and I could use it to help every
- 46:05Speaker 1: last one of us make the decisions that we need
- 46:07Speaker 1: to make to be free. You see ya, this is
- 46:10Speaker 1: not just about money and what I want people understand.
- 46:13Speaker 1: It's about the freedom that you have when you have
- 46:18Speaker 1: the resources to make choices that are in alignment with
- 46:22Speaker 1: God's will and your wishes. It's about freedom right, we
- 46:27Speaker 1: got Eric, Eric and from College Park. How are you doing? Eric,
- 46:31Speaker 1: I'm Finis McDonald. I'm glad I caught you. I didn't
- 46:34Speaker 1: think I would, but I heard Dr Lynn Richard some speak.
- 46:38Speaker 1: She was talking to me, so I had the dollars level. Well,
- 46:44Speaker 1: what question you have for the incredible Dr levite speak?
- 46:48Speaker 1: My friends? When she spoke about the uh SMP and
- 46:54Speaker 1: that I could invest, say fifty bucks a month or whatever,
- 46:57Speaker 1: I need to hear that one more time. Absolutely, yes,
- 47:02Speaker 1: you can choose a license, a universal whole life insurance
- 47:06Speaker 1: policy that is connected to an index. So if you
- 47:11Speaker 1: choose a fund, let's just say, for example, you have
- 47:15Speaker 1: a brokerage account at Fidelity or charge SWAB or TVA,
- 47:18Speaker 1: Merror Trade or each any one of them, go into
- 47:21Speaker 1: the research section and choose a fund that outperforms the
- 47:27Speaker 1: S and P five hundreds, so you have a four
- 47:31Speaker 1: oh one K or if you have a life insurance policy,
- 47:34Speaker 1: then you have the ability to invest your money. You're
- 47:38Speaker 1: gonna see a list of funds. Most of us don't
- 47:40Speaker 1: know what that listings. Uh. It may see that. It
- 47:43Speaker 1: may say the Fidelity funds, It may save these Vanguard funds,
- 47:47Speaker 1: and it'll have three or four letters. You take those
- 47:51Speaker 1: three or four letters, you put them into your research
- 47:54Speaker 1: box and on the website, on your platform, and then
- 47:59Speaker 1: you repair compared to what you compared to the SMP
- 48:03Speaker 1: five hundred. If your fund performs better than the SMP
- 48:08Speaker 1: five hundred over the past twenty years. So I'm not
- 48:11Speaker 1: just giving you quick advice. Look at what it's done
- 48:14Speaker 1: over the past twenty years. If that fund out performs
- 48:17Speaker 1: the SMP five hundreds, what it means is it's going
- 48:20Speaker 1: to increase in value over time. Now we're making a
- 48:25Speaker 1: decision between two funds. Look at both funds and see
- 48:29Speaker 1: which one performed the best. So that's a very simple
- 48:32Speaker 1: way for anybody. I don't care who you are. You
- 48:36Speaker 1: don't have to have any investment knowledge to be able
- 48:39Speaker 1: to decide which funds should I choose, Because Rashawn, that's
- 48:42Speaker 1: one of the things that gets most of us. We
- 48:45Speaker 1: don't know what funds to choose for our four one kids,
- 48:47Speaker 1: our whole propersonal life and so on. Yeah, while Erica,
- 48:53Speaker 1: you know, just getting that information. If there is some
- 48:56Speaker 1: work you gotta go online. You know there's there's but
- 49:00Speaker 1: she's showing it. There's no magic bullet here. The information
- 49:03Speaker 1: is there. You just have to compare. And that's the
- 49:08Speaker 1: that's the part that really drives us maddening and maybe
- 49:13Speaker 1: angry because of the fact that we are We all
- 49:17Speaker 1: have cell phones. You know that cell phone. Just go
- 49:21Speaker 1: to just go to to uh, just go to yourail.
- 49:24Speaker 1: You can look at it, looks into it. Now because
- 49:26Speaker 1: we're in a mobile society. So there's no excuse. Now
- 49:29Speaker 1: I don't have a computer, I don't have a laptop.
- 49:31Speaker 1: You have a cell phone, and that cell phone allows
- 49:34Speaker 1: you to do all the research. That cell phone allows
- 49:37Speaker 1: you to download apps. That cell phone allows you to
- 49:40Speaker 1: actually run your financial enterprise. Let's think that big. You
- 49:46Speaker 1: are a financial enterprise. And if you think that way,
- 49:49Speaker 1: then guess what your mindset would change. And that's what
- 49:52Speaker 1: let Richardson is telling us. But I'm just telling you
- 49:55Speaker 1: the excuse of the old days. I don't I don't
- 49:59Speaker 1: have the technology need to compete. I don't have the
- 50:01Speaker 1: ability to do the research. Yes you do. If you
- 50:04Speaker 1: called me on your mobile phone, if you're listening to
- 50:07Speaker 1: me on their phote phone, if you use your mobile phone,
- 50:10Speaker 1: you have the ability to compete. There are no excuses.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Do what she's asking all she's doing is asking the listeners,
- 50:18Speaker 1: asking you Eric to do this. Okay. This is most
- 50:24Speaker 1: of the time when people ask me a question, I
- 50:28Speaker 1: give them a class and people say, well, then why
- 50:31Speaker 1: can't you just answer the question? Rashan, You know there's
- 50:34Speaker 1: no such thingers just answering the question. You have to
- 50:37Speaker 1: learn how to get your money straight, and then you
- 50:40Speaker 1: have to learn how to keep your money straight. Okay,
- 50:43Speaker 1: because more money doesn't solve a money problem. If it did,
- 50:46Speaker 1: millionaires wouldn't go bankrupt. There are too many stories of
- 50:49Speaker 1: people who get money and they lose it because they
- 50:52Speaker 1: did not do the work to get it, nor did
- 50:54Speaker 1: they do the work to keep it. So education is
- 50:57Speaker 1: the key, and we need to move from knowledge to
- 51:00Speaker 1: action because knowledge is not power. People say knowledge is power. No,
- 51:04Speaker 1: knowledge is not power until it is put into action.
- 51:11Speaker 1: You are how do okay? They listened to you on
- 51:15Speaker 1: my show once a quarter. How can they reach out
- 51:18Speaker 1: to you? Do you have a website? How what's your
- 51:21Speaker 1: social media? Because your information is sustainable and they need
- 51:26Speaker 1: to know how to reach out to you. Got one
- 51:27Speaker 1: minute left filament on all the closing details about how
- 51:31Speaker 1: they can reach out to Dr le Richardson and what
- 51:34Speaker 1: format you have available to change their lives. Well, first
- 51:38Speaker 1: of all, I'm more than happy to come back as
- 51:40Speaker 1: much as you like, so we could turn once of
- 51:42Speaker 1: cording to one of mind. That's number one. Number two
- 51:48Speaker 1: ask lying dot org, well to ask lynn A s
- 51:51Speaker 1: k O y n N no eat dot org. Submit

- 52:05Speaker 1: which is limited to TV, but as dot org is

- 52:18Speaker 1: my life. Bar when you come on my show, you
- 52:21Speaker 1: have me fired up, you have me thinking all the
- 52:23Speaker 1: right things. But more importantly, you change people's lives. We
- 52:26Speaker 1: talked soon again. This is Dr Lan Richardson. She's blessed
- 52:30Speaker 1: us with another another great episode on Money Making Conversation Masterclass.
