  He spends a third of his time casting out demons.

  years ago at that retreat. We actually met before that.

  OK, so I was introduced to you through a friend about 10 years

  ago. Oh, wow.

  Yeah. Because you had just started

  live action and someone said, hey, I think did you, were you
• 1:38
  living in LA? Yes, yes.

  And they say they're new to LA or something like that.
• 1:41
  And they could, they could use some friends 'cause you know, LA
• 1:44
  is full. Friend.

  We I well, I don't want to put you on blast year, but I did
• 1:48
  respond and you never returned the e-mail.

  OK, so I missed out on a friend. But you also were kind of
• 1:54
  building a massive organization, and I think we're pretty busy
• 1:57
  and I probably have more free time than you.

  But you're producing amazing projects, which is very

  exciting, and you have your own YouTube show which you guys can

  Yeah, that was we we actually, that's the first big podcast I

  did. I bought an old airport shuttle

  bus from like Avis or something, tore out the insides, put a

  campfire in it and drove across the country with no plan other

  than see who God pairs us up with and we got to interview so
• 2:26
  many cool celebs. I mean it's some have called it
• 2:29
  the best podcast since the Lila Ro Show.

  Files is crazy and you are the mastermind behind that.

  Obviously Father Carlos Martins has done amazing work with that,

  but your storytelling and even just coming up with the concept

  of doing a podcast that's focused on exorcism, I think a
• 2:52
  decade ago would not have maybe been a thing.

  I think you had this vision for it because you are very clued
• 3:00
  into the spiritual realities around us.

  And so I'd love to hear just your background, why you got
• 3:06
  into media and why particularly you're getting into such faith
• 3:10
  driven media where it's not like, oh, these are Christian
• 3:12
  films, but it's content about the supernatural.
• 3:15
  It's content about the exorcisms, contents about
• 3:17
  miracles and all these other things that people are mind
• 3:21
  blown by everyday people, people that don't even maybe have their
• 3:23
  own faith when they discover it for the first time.
• 3:26
  Yeah, so one, thanks for having me.

  I love talking about this stuff and it's weird.
• 3:31
  I don't know if you feel this way, but sometimes when you get
• 3:34
  saturated in this stuff, you forget how weird it sounds to
• 3:37
  someone who like, I will meet people And I had a friend bring
• 3:42
  some of his colleagues from a a big brand.
• 3:44
  So when I don't do this stuff, I actually have an agency.
• 3:47
  So I write comedy commercials. What's really funny is I write
• 3:49
  comedy commercials and do digital marketing.
• 3:52
  All this exploring the supernatural stuff literally was
• 3:56
  a side passion that is thankfully turned into something
• 3:58
  much bigger. But I remember bringing them out
• 4:01
  to dinner and he knows what I do, but he kind of left it out.
• 4:05
  And so he's like, hey, by the way, just let him know you're a
• 4:07
  digital marketer, right? But you can't not say it.
• 4:10
  Nick kept pressing everything, like, so like, what else do you
• 4:12
  do besides work, etc. Right?
• 4:13
  And I looked at them like, can I tell them right.
• 4:16
  And I go, yeah, I kind of host this show on exorcism, and you
• 4:19
  can hear every fork just drop and like what?
• 4:22
  And you're like, And I have the relic of Saint Judes broken leg
• 4:25
  in my bathroom right now. That was I don't I don't have
• 4:28
  Jude's relic in my bathroom just so for the fans don't know that
• 4:31
  I actually bought. Something like that.
• 4:33
  Right, No, I did have someone send me a first class relic of
• 4:36
  Saint Maria Goretti. And if you had asked me five
• 4:38
  years ago, what is a what is a first class, I didn't know
• 4:42
  there's classes of relics. What is?
• 4:43
  A first. Class that's an actual piece of
• 4:46
  a St. right? That's that's wild to think
• 4:48
  about. I and so we get that from
• 4:51
  scripture. I think it's second kings where
• 4:52
  they toss in a body last, you know, so they're kind of
• 4:55
  startled and they throw this body.
• 4:57
  These guys are moving a a body. I think it's a bunch of bandits
• 5:00
  and they throw this body and it happens to come in contact with
• 5:02
  the bones of Elisha and it's instantly resurrected.
• 5:05
  And so we go, Oh, that would be a first class relic.
• 5:08
  And so I had no exposure to relics or any of this stuff.
• 5:11
  There was a moment two years ago where I was sitting in a kitchen
• 5:16
  and the arm of Saint Jude. It was because it was traveling
• 5:18
  on tour and it was on the counter and I'm having coffee
• 5:21
  and I'm going, I'm sitting in the living room with an
• 5:24
  exorcist. We had rented this house to film
• 5:27
  some content and I'm going, I'm having coffee.
• 5:29
  There's the bone of Jude the Apostle, there's an exorcist.
• 5:36
  Life is weird, like what is going on here.
• 5:38
  But no, I so I became passionate mainly because I was having a
• 5:41
  tough time with faith a few years ago, mainly just because a
• 5:46
  Christianity to me makes the most intellectual sense of a
• 5:49
  bunch of imperfect explanations. I don't think you'll ever be
• 5:52
  able to fully reason like no one's going to be able to prove
• 5:54
  the origins of the universe. Science can speculate, we can
• 5:58
  guess and say it's created, but the end of the day, you don't
• 6:00
  know. And for most of us, and for me,
• 6:03
  and I wrestle with this because experience can't be the only
• 6:06
  thing, because obviously the Christian walk is filled with a
• 6:08
  lot of rough experiences, right? Somehow it's crept in and a lot
• 6:12
  of our thinking and this crept in for me too.
• 6:14
  It's maybe it's kind of an American thing, like, oh, follow
• 6:17
  God, all will be well with you. And that's weird because that's
• 6:20
  in no way the experience of anyone close to Christ.
• 6:23
  However, you do read these, like promises.
• 6:25
  And I was having a tough time because I'd read the Psalms.
• 6:27
  Like, I've never seen the righteous go hungry.
• 6:29
  I'm pretty sure a lot of good people starve to death every
• 6:31
  year. How do I make of that, right?
• 6:33
  And so intellectually I was like, well, human nature.
• 6:36
  The Bible seems to really describe human nature well.
• 6:39
  And but also, if I just read the Gospels and I just read the book
• 6:43
  of Acts, that's it. Wouldn't you assume that God is
• 6:46
  still doing some cool stuff? And that was the big problem for
• 6:49
  me. I was like, I just don't see a
• 6:52
  lot of cool stuff. And you hear about it around the
• 6:54
  world that it's Christianity is exploding.
• 6:56
  And Paul says, right, did I come to you in Word or in power in
• 7:00
  deed? And I thought I need to see some
• 7:02
  power. And that's not the reason.
• 7:03
  That's not the only reason to believe.
• 7:04
  And obviously you can't rely your experience on just miracles
• 7:08
  and Acts because that's not something sustainable.
• 7:12
  But I was like, you should see something.
• 7:14
  And so I started down this rabbit hole just asking every
• 7:18
  person I knew who was a sincere Christian walk the Lord for a
• 7:21
  decade or so or more. Tell me a cool God story.
• 7:24
  And I got so many cool stories to the point where it gets
• 7:27
  actually kind of infuriating. You're like, OK, I'm the common
• 7:30
  denominator. Like everyone has had a cool God
• 7:32
  moment but me. And I'm talking like I met my
• 7:36
  spouse because I was praying Lord, there was this person 20
• 7:39
  years ago. And I just really, I think that
• 7:41
  was the person I was supposed to meet.
• 7:42
  And I just always in the sense they got away.
• 7:43
  So if that was you bring it back and they bump into a grocery
• 7:46
  store an hour later. That's awesome.
• 7:49
  Right, results may vary. Want to be very clear, someone
• 7:52
  going in for heart surgery and both doctors had said or initial
• 7:56
  like an angiogram and said, Hey, you have some significant
• 8:01
  blockages. And then they get prayed over
• 8:05
  and they someone has a word and says, I feel like the Lord's
• 8:09
  saying, the doctor's going to be confounded.
• 8:10
  And then the next day they open it up and they go, there's no
• 8:13
  blockage. We're so we literally confounded
• 8:15
  and you hear these stories and you go, Oh my gosh, I want that
• 8:18
  to be my experience. So I started just really going
• 8:20
  after God for this stuff and it led me to my own kind of
• 8:24
  personal experience where I finally was off the term would
• 8:27
  be rewarded because I don't want to say it's an urn thing, but it
• 8:29
  was a finally God was like, I do think when we pursue God in a
• 8:33
  certain way, especially the way in the New Testament, you see
• 8:36
  all these crazy actions to get, you know, crawling through
• 8:39
  crowds, screaming, lowering friends through roofs.
• 8:42
  It feels like Jesus kind of smiles when you go after him
• 8:44
  like that. And then I just had this like
• 8:46
  reciprocation and had something really cool happened.
• 8:49
  And I told this story to a friend at a major streamer and
• 8:53
  he goes, that's a great show idea.
• 8:55
  You should just collect awesome stories.
• 8:57
  What? What happened to you?
• 8:58
  Well, I'll tell that story. I that's a little bit longer and
• 9:00
  I can remind me. We'll go, I'll, I'll get to that
• 9:02
  one. But he says, that's a crazy cool
• 9:05
  story. And I said, great, let's make it
• 9:07
  even bigger. And at the time I was reading a
• 9:08
  book and the book had documented and said that, hey, did you know
• 9:11
  the Catholic Church has a process for investigating
• 9:14
  miracles? And I went, what?
• 9:16
  So I learned about the canonization process, not
• 9:18
  because I thought I was going to be a St., but if anyone's
• 9:20
  interested in becoming a St., Sadly, the fastest track is
• 9:23
  martyrdom, right? But let's take that off the
• 9:25
  table. After you go, you need to have
• 9:27
  two miracles with your name. And I was blown away by the
• 9:30
  rigor and the process. And so I said, this is really
• 9:34
  interesting. So I did what any producer would
• 9:36
  do. I posted on Facebook.
• 9:37
  Does anyone know anyone at the Vatican?
• 9:39
  And someone responded, I actually have a friend who has a
• 9:42
  friend. So I just flew out there on
• 9:44
  faith and I took a, a friend of mine who's a, a veteran producer
• 9:48
  and we managed to, Long story short, get connected with some
• 9:52
  really influential people there who said, love your vision, love
• 9:56
  your dream for this. But this involves medical
• 9:58
  records. You don't just walk in.
• 10:00
  This is very, these causes take years.
• 10:02
  This is not something you're able to do a show on.
• 10:05
  But I said, what about spiritual warfare?
• 10:08
  And they said, well, there is someone we would actually, you
• 10:11
  know, love to refer you to. And obviously there's no head
• 10:13
  exorcist, right? But I had a couple to say this
• 10:16
  is someone who we send some really difficult cases to.
• 10:19
  You should talk to this person. And that was Father Carlos.
• 10:23
  So I got connected and I famously called him and he said,
• 10:26
  how did you get this number? And I said, oh, I was given your
• 10:29
  number by our mutual friend and he didn't believe me.
• 10:32
  He till this day will say, I thought you made it up and you
• 10:34
  just found out. He's like, because he's like,
• 10:36
  this isn't a joke, kid. This is exorcism.
• 10:38
  This is not. So it was the number of people
• 10:41
  usually call if they need an exorcism.
• 10:43
  Yeah, or just like, you know. Press.
• 10:45
  Or yeah, or it comes through a it comes through a Bishop, or it
• 10:48
  comes to another priest. Who are you, Ryan?
• 10:50
  Not some Protestant who like he's never met going wait, how'd
• 10:53
  you get my number? I mean, I've probably it was
• 10:55
  like telemarketer and then me. That is very funny.
• 10:58
  And so but. Little did he know that you
• 11:00
  would be his best friend. I don't know if he was Sam, his
• 11:02
  best friend, but I am. I am his Co producer.
• 11:05
  His Co producer and good friend? No, but he it's so we started
• 11:10
  talking for a few months and he told me some stories and I went
• 11:13
  which are now famously, you know, produced into the exorcist
• 11:17
  file show. But he said that, you know, he
• 11:20
  was very concerned about Hollywood and its way it
• 11:22
  glamorized and the way it glorified because it is
• 11:25
  attention, right? There's a lot of there's no rule
• 11:27
  that an exorcist has to be secret, but there is a tendency
• 11:30
  that it's like car crashes. We all look at them, right.
• 11:33
  And I mean, I'm sure you've had spiritual warfare guests on.
• 11:36
  I am going to guess hot take that those episodes do well,
• 11:40
  right? Anything any mention of
• 11:42
  spiritual. It's a popular topic.
• 11:43
  Humans have a fascination and. Because I think we're so
• 11:47
  constantly heads down in the material and that's American
• 11:51
  Society. It's very consumeristic, it's
• 11:53
  very materialistic. It's not really concerned with
• 11:56
  the supernatural on the day-to-day basis.
• 12:00
  And so I think there's a starvation.
• 12:02
  For God that we're all made for. We're all made for Him and
• 12:06
  there's a starvation for the things of God, which is why the
• 12:08
  supernatural topics are so fascinating to people.

  Like if you went to the average person and said, hey, I, yeah, I

  think most things are medical. Like we live in a broken world.

  We have broken biology, right? We're dying, right?

  That's the nature of the world. But even postulate, by the way,

  you might have a spiritual cause to this, right?

  That's for so long that was ignored.

  There was a guy named Derek Prince who is a big evangelist
• 13:31
  in the 50s and 60s, and he wrote this book called They Shall
• 13:34
  Expel Demons. And he talked about battling
• 13:37
  with depression for decades. And then one day in prayer, the
• 13:39
  Lord said, rebuke the spirit of depression.
• 13:42
  And he's like what? He's like, all right, Like Lord,
• 13:45
  I asked, you know, not in my power, but your power.
• 13:47
  I rebuke a spirit of depression and he goes instantly healed.
• 13:50
  And for him that was his journey.
• 13:52
  But it started this process where he's like in his time,
• 13:54
  they weren't doing like if you came and said, Hey, you have a
• 13:57
  spiritual, they're like, no, no, you're baptized Christian.
• 13:59
  You can't have problems. That's just not a thing.

  It's there's a there's a medication, there's something
• 14:04
  that needs to be tackled. So I am grateful and excited
• 14:07
  that we're finally opening our eyes to the fact that there just
• 14:10
  could be other causes. And I don't look running for
• 14:12
  this stuff anywhere everywhere. But you know, you go around the
• 14:15
  world, every culture except pretty much like seems like her
• 14:18
  Western, you know, scientific culture.
• 14:21
  Like you mentioned evil spirits, like of course, of course that's
• 14:24
  a thing, right? And so this show has really
• 14:26
  opened my eyes to that. And so when father and I talked
• 14:29
  and he said, Hey, look like the the agreement point was, Hey,
• 14:33
  father, do you want to document the fact that there are like
• 14:36
  Ouija boards are something you shouldn't do, right?
• 14:38
  It goes absolutely astrology. It's not something you should be
• 14:40
  involved with, right? Like there's a rampant rise in a
• 14:43
  cult activity because to your point, people are super hungry
• 14:46
  for spiritual, right? So that vacuum is going to be
• 14:48
  filled. So let's put something out
• 14:50
  there. Also, this is a really great
• 14:52
  medium to no pun intended, right?
• 14:54
  But this is a good medium to entertain while educating,
• 14:57
  right? Because there are certain folks
• 14:58
  who don't want to go sit for a homily, even if it's just 12
• 15:01
  minutes, right? They want to go in and they want
• 15:03
  to do they want to be entertained.
• 15:04
  And you look at, I mean, you can't unknown this, but you look
• 15:07
  at exorcism content typically does very well.
• 15:10
  It's very interesting how secular and skeptic a lot of my
• 15:14
  friends are or a lot of friends that I have are.
• 15:17
  But then when it comes to exorcism content, like, Oh, we
• 15:19
  want to go see a Catholic actress movie, right?
• 15:21
  That's that's scary. I mean, I know people who were
• 15:24
  converted because the extras, not because they had an
• 15:26
  experience. Oh, yeah.
• 15:27
  They said it was so terrifying that they ran like left.
• 15:30
  I know one guy left the theater, ran home and was like, I need to
• 15:34
  go to church right now. Right.
• 15:36
  What? You go, wow, it's not how I
• 15:38
  would like prefer everyone like come to know the Lord, but hey,
• 15:41
  fear of the Lord, beginning of wisdom.
• 15:44
  So father and I finally was like, Hey, if you're going to do
• 15:47
  this, it needs to be stewarded. Well, it's not going to glorify
• 15:50
  and it's going to be a teaching tool as well as entertainment
• 15:52
  edutainment, if you will. And so we started off and
• 15:56
  started shopping at around Hollywood and wouldn't you know,
• 15:59
  this little COVID thing happened.
• 16:01
  So I was like, great, God does not want this to happen right
• 16:04
  now. And then a really cool story
• 16:06
  because I again, I wanted to do a podcast.
• 16:08
  I thought they would go, but also the TV was our big vision.
• 16:11
  And then a friend was fasting and praying for me, which good
• 16:14
  friends do. That's a good friend.
• 16:15
  So you know who you are and said, Hey, I want to introduce
• 16:18
  you to someone. And that person actually
• 16:20
  interesting called me this morning and they had worked with
• 16:23
  iHeartRadio and we talked and a week later we had an offer to do
• 16:26
  it with iHeartRadio and they loved the vision.
• 16:29
  I said let's do old time radio drama.
• 16:31
  I grew up on those old radio shows where they would use tin
• 16:34
  foil for the sound of Thunder, you know, like opening a door.
• 16:38
  They'd actually have a little door they'd open and close.
• 16:39
  And yeah, we got paired up with an incredible team there.
• 16:42
  And father's cases, as you know, are just, I mean, they're what?
• 16:46
  And these are the exceptions. I think anyone who doesn't know
• 16:48
  the show, we are profiling true stories that are re enacted and
• 16:51
  then turn into 3D binaural audio, which means surround
• 16:55
  sound when you put the headphones on.
• 16:56
  And he Co hosted with me and narrates these cases with these
• 16:59
  re enactments. But these cases are also
• 17:01
  extreme. We picked them because they each
• 17:04
  teach a lesson, but they're they're not.
• 17:07
  I mean, a lot of these cases are people who are heavily involved
• 17:09
  in the occult, serious and, like, open doors, right?
• 17:12
  Not this is not your average thing.
• 17:14
  And one thing I really appreciated is now having
• 17:16
  interviewed, you know, over a dozen exorcists who take it very
• 17:19
  seriously. They all take it seriously.
• 17:21
  They're not anxious to jump in front of a camera.
• 17:23
  They're like, it's a very serious thing.
• 17:25
  And they're also like, yeah, it's also very rare.
• 17:27
  Like, most of the time we look for mental illness, natural
• 17:30
  causes. And then when it's real, when
• 17:32
  it's spiritual, great. We not handle it.
• 17:34
  I think that's very encouraging. And I, we've had a few exorcist
• 17:37
  on the show, including Father Carlos Marnes.
• 17:39
  And when they say, OK, this is not like the devil's behind
• 17:42
  every corner. Because I think we can tend to
• 17:45
  give too much credence to the devil too and be too.
• 17:49
  It's possible to be too fascinated by the devil, right?
• 17:51
  But at the same time, it's possible to ignore these
• 17:54
  spiritual realities as well and to pretend like they don't
• 17:57
  exist. So there's some kind of happy
• 17:58
  middle. And then again, like you're
• 18:00
  describing, if you approach studying exorcism as an example
• 18:04
  or learning exorcism with an eye towards, OK, what can I learn
• 18:08
  about who God is through this God's justice and his mercy.
• 18:11
  I think that also is a different approach.
• 18:13
  And I know Father Carlos is so beautiful at sharing about God's
• 18:17
  mercy. Like that is ultimately his
• 18:19
  message. And the other exorcist we've had
• 18:21
  on this show, that is their message.
• 18:22
  It's a message of God's mercy, God's Providence, God's love.
• 18:25
  And so you can't help but be encouraged by that.
• 18:28
  It's not just some scary, spooky thing like a horror movie.
• 18:30
  It's this encouragement. And I think you've done that
• 18:33
  really well with your, I'm going to call it a ministry.
• 18:35
  I mean, I know it's a business. I know it's a, you know, media,
• 18:38
  but I do think it's a ministry because you're approaching it
• 18:40
  with that lens as opposed to, I do think the Exorcist movie.
• 18:43
  I have not seen it. It's too terrifying for me.
• 18:47
  It's pretty. Dated now you could you could
• 18:48
  you could get by it's some of the effects are.
• 18:51
  It's less of like about God's mercy and love that movie is my
• 18:54
  understanding. It's more of a.
• 18:55
  Oh yeah, I know. It doesn't end.
• 18:56
  It's more of a horror horror movie.
• 18:58

  cast out and it wanders through arid places and then it comes

  back and it looks to see if they can get back in.

  occupying it, it'll bring back seven spirits more wicked than

  it, right? And then the condition is worse

  than it was originally. And that phenomena has been

  something that had been documented.

  So this was a case of repossession and so.

  And you can have both. But so she relapsed and it was

  way worse, right? And he tells the story and so

  and these spoiling too much. The demons are driving her to

  this breaking point, right? And she and she almost died and

  she was miraculously rescued at the last minute, right through
• 22:42
  an intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel by her own again,
• 22:46
  her words and fathers, fathers ate us.
• 22:49
  But he had to collect himself. And I don't think he would mind
• 22:53
  me sharing this. But it was a beautiful moment
• 22:56
  because he was like getting misty eyed.
• 22:59
  And he goes, man, it's like we almost lost her, you know, And
• 23:02
  he brought up this really beautiful like to anyone who's
• 23:05
  doubting, you can doubt like whether they saw what they saw,
• 23:09
  you know, stuff at the end of the day.

  It's like when you see these people who have like no money,
• 23:13
  they're not it's not a Commission.

  They're cloistered off in the middle of nowhere, right?

  And they get called in and this is not a fun thing.

  No one you know, it's in the movies.

  It looks cool when your counter Reeves is Constantine and you're

  bashing them in with your divine brass knuckles.

  But all the time it's praying for hours, right?

  And getting cussed at, right, and dealing with someone who's

  probably got a lot of issues going on.

  And so he breaks down and he goes almost lost her.

  And he's like, you know, you do, you can say the prayers, you can

  do everything, right? You're the, you're the ex, you

  are there as the priest, you are there to remind them and like

  shepherd them, right? But at the end of the day, it's

  between that person and God, right?

  And God above all, that has a sovereign plan for the timing in

  which he wants to affect liberation.

  a sign of possession, right? It could be, but people fake all

  Exorcist, it's the medical team in the book, I should say the

  book or the medical team says give Regan an exorcism.

  it's a good placebo, right? Why?

  Why do people fake being possessed?

  Well, one, there's people want attention, right?

  I can tell you that there are plenty of people who will be

  you're making, because they're those people that are pretty

  They really want to grow, draw closer to God.

  And then they have your laundry list of normal problems that

  afflict us humans, right? Like they suffer with anxiety or

  they struggle with depression or they struggle with moods or

  whatever their, you know, relationship issues or whatever

  it is, right? Or they hear spooky noises at
• 31:09
  night. I don't know.

  And it could be tempting to assign too much, you know, power
• 31:14
  to the devil. Then he then he actually
• 31:16
  possesses right Be like, well, I'm am I being like oppressed by
• 31:19
  a needle spirit right now? Is a spiritual warfare or is
• 31:22
  this, Oh, I didn't have a good breakfast.
• 31:25
  I didn't get enough sleep. You know, I'm, I'm not taking
• 31:28
  good enough care of my body or my mind or my psyche, whatever,
• 31:31
  my soul on a natural level. And so therefore, you know,

  there's these things that I'm struggling with.

  And I think that's parsing that is part of the job of like a

  And I think that also gives a lot of confidence though, too,

  to people, any person that there's a natural order that we

  weeks ago and the driver goes, Oh, I love we talk about

  podcasts and he goes, what kind of podcast do you do?

  And I was like, we're almost home.

  He can, you know, we'll see if he flips out of this, right?

  And I shared and he goes, that's so real.

  He goes in my village where I'm from, right?

  It is common practice to dedicate children up on this

  mountain to like, evil spirits, right?

  And you give them one so they don't touch the rest of your

  family. I, I was blown away.

  And I think it was something that just confirmed my

  family members. We've all lost family members.

  This guy economic ruin. We've all faced hard times

  financially and this guy also got really sick, right?

  We've all faced illness, right? And the whole time people are

  like, would you do wrong? You know, just like confess your

  sin before God. And we have we don't get a

  reason. And the important thing in that

  book, we never get an answer right, but it was entirely
• 34:47
  spiritual. That entire thing was a
• 34:49
  spiritual like assault from the enemy and we didn't know about
• 34:53
  it. We were we as the reader, we get
• 34:55
  to know, but he had no idea. And then at the end, God doesn't
• 34:58
  go, dude, I'm so sorry. I had this wager.
• 35:00
  I had to prove Satan wrong in front of everybody, right?
• 35:02
  It was just like, who are you right, I am God, right, but he
• 35:06
  blessed the latter days more than the former.

  And so I just that story gives me peace that like you know
• 35:11
  what, like there could be a lot considered there could be
• 35:13
  spiritual causes, right? We are not just like body like
• 35:17
  we are mind, body and spirit. And is it that crazy to think
• 35:21
  that we could have spiritual afflictions?

  And the good news is if there is spiritual afflictions, right,

  then we can we can treat people like what is Christ's big
• 35:29
  mission, right? He came to abolish the works of
• 35:32

  the works of God could be made manifest.

  And so God permits this stuff so that he can show off.

  And that's the beautiful part is like these people are getting

  liberated everywhere. And I think the best part of the

  good news is that, you know, you talk to all these extras and

  they're like, they just, they love this.

  If Satan is real, if these minions are real, if this whole

  But so the thing that he hates the most is to be shown to be

  even in all of these things of possessions and the occult and

  all of the darkness, right, of this Kingdom of darkness, when

  God does these beautiful things where he uses these evils to

  bring about a great good, it makes Satan a lot more angry.

  But if you want to go back for your daughters, his family,

  you and I will use it. And so kind of like you have a

  And then you went and woke up and it was like pain started

  etcetera. And he that that experience

  anchors him. I know several stories like

  that, which is really something we don't think about too.

  Like I I have a dear friend who lost a loved one and felt really

  LED in the spirit that she really felt that this person was

  going to get healed. And when they didn't, it was,

  and there's so many confirming where and you go, what happened?

  And one thing that we've talked about, and again, I don't know
• 42:35
  this, but like is, you know, is does that happen sometimes or
• 42:39
  people say, Hey, you have a choice, like Are you ready to
• 42:41
  come home? Or is there stuff I want, you

  know, is God saying, Hey, actually you can come home now,
• 42:45
  but would you go back? I got some stuff for you to do
• 42:48
  right? And we don't know.

  Or maybe some, I wonder sometimes people were praying to

  heal, etcetera. And then maybe they're like in
• 42:54
  their spirit and they can't communicate and they're like,
• 42:56
  I'm going to go home. Like my work here's done, you

  know so. That they got the ultimate
• 43:01
  healing, which is like got to go.

  They got to go home. Yeah, we're all healed in the
• 43:04
  all. But like, you know, if those who
• 43:06
  believe put their faith in Christ, right, ultimately find

  healing. We don't get it in the timing.

  But I will say I know lots of stories of healings happening

  today. What that makes me think,

  though, is is like alignment with your loved one in the
• 43:17
  request. Yeah, like, because it's like
• 43:20
  we're two or more gathered in my name, you know, then those are

  those are obviously prayers that God hears and ask and you will
• 43:26
  be answered, knock and the door will be open to you.

  But if you're not aligned in what you're requesting from God,

  then how does God parse that? You know, how's God going to
• 43:34
  respond to that? Just an interesting question.

  Because that person who's really suffering, they might want to go
• 43:38
  home. No, for sure.

  That is a great question. And I mean, that's people.

  It's the same with exorcism. She's like, do you want to be

  healed? You can.

  That's one thing that's really weird about these cases and

  people can say the words, right? And it's probably not one or the

  other, right? Like, for example, with this guy

  that was being, you know, this guy did not want to be thrown

  through walls, right? This guy don't want to be
• 43:59
  physically abused by an evil spirit in the story.

  I'm I'm guessing I'm I'm going to conjecture.

  He didn't, but he also wanted the like, you know, and so which

  ones, you know, because right. Is it, is it 100% one or the

  other? It's like no sin if you've been

  involved. Like especially some of these

  people that I've interviewed. And again, I don't know, I

  didn't know them during the peak of their powers.

  But when I interview former like people who've been heavily in

  the cult and they tell me stories like, yeah, I used to

  Astro plane and I go what? Like, yeah, I leave my body and

  just fly around and I'm like, that's I mean, it's bonkers.

  I have no framework for this, right?

  So he'll find take them with their word, right.

  But I go say that was true. So you could just like travel

  anywhere, right? You can manipulate people,

  etcetera, right? You just could get anything you

  wanted. There's probably a part, a

  broken part of you that would like say, wow, I'm going to, you

  know, hey, by the way, can I get delivered and still have this

  power and the actual no, right? Like, you know, we've had, I

  think a mutual friend, a former psychic on, right?

  It's like you cannot go on telling futures, you know,

  through demons and I. Don't think we have them on,

  have had them on yet. We're going to.

  Have them on yeah. And so but yeah, we don't feel
• 45:05
  like that. And so you got to sorry you got

  you got you want all of you can't have God's like blessing

  without God's authority, right. And so you got to pick who will

  you serve this day. And so there's there's a that's

  what all these episodes we do they they climax in this epic

  moment where the person. And a lot of times it's
• 45:21
  forgiveness. That's one thing I've also been

  surprised at is maybe half the cases the person has a wound of
• 45:27
  like they have crazy unforgiveness towards someone.

  That's one of the doorways. And I have found that so
• 45:33
  freeing. Like, you know, why is that in
• 45:35
  the Lord's Prayer? Why are we constantly told to
• 45:37
  forgive? Why are we told to turn the
• 45:38
  other cheek? Right.

  And it's forgiveness like because we're and then
• 45:41
  forgiveness towards self. That's in a huge one.

  I was shocked at how many actresses said that was a
• 45:46
  doorway to demonic affliction. Like you are God's temple, God
• 45:49
  made you and to reject yourself, to hate yourself to to black
• 45:54
  you, you know you are when you curse yourself, you are cursing

  God's beautiful creation and you are basically saying no, you
• 45:59
  erred in making me right. So that's been something I've
• 46:03
  really deeply found and we've done a lot of prayer together

  with people and just saying, hey everyone, it's funny how many
• 46:08
  people say if you close your eyes right now, is there someone
• 46:11
  you need to forgive, right? Even if it's a small, we always
• 46:14
  have someone who is currently bothering us.

  But for a lot of people, it's a like, it's funny how I'd say 2

  out of three people that I've like talked to, there's usually
• 46:22
  one person who wounded them, right?
• 46:25
  And you go forgive, forgive them.

  Fathers, I forgive myself, you know, forgive me, fathers, I
• 46:31
  forgive them. And it's just a really beautiful
• 46:33
  and that's just so cool and so special.

  And so I really, we had an episode that's one of my all

  time favorites where this kid, his dad abandoned him and then
• 46:41
  died from drugs. And like the kid was abandoned.

  Like it's rough. Like that's something to you
• 46:46
  sympathize. Like not all these things are
• 46:48
  people like, yo, I'm playing with a Ouija board and like,
• 46:50
  sucks for you. And now I'm possessed.

  It's like, no, it's there's a lot of we have one about a, a
• 46:55
  girl who had diagnosed schizophrenia.

  So I had a lot of psychologists write in about this episode.

  So we do have some audience who's like, and there's a people

  should know. There are psychologists who like
• 47:04
  are totally open to this. They, I know they're not very
• 47:06
  public about it. They e-mail me.

  And this girl's dad abandoned her when she was like, 9.

  And then the demon in this story, the alleged demon
• 47:15
  appeared as her dad and said, can I come stay with you?

  Can I come be with you? And she would just start having
• 47:20
  hallucinations with him all the time, right?
• 47:22
  And it's like, that is so insidious, right?

  And then she had to forgive him as part of her exorcism.

  She had to say, I forgive my dad for abandoning.

  And open that door effectively for her to want this evil spirit
• 47:34
  to help her, thinking it was her dad.

  Yeah. Oh yeah, I know.

  And it's like deceive her. And then you go, how would the

  Angel he become even if he come disguised as an Angel of light?

  And you go So again, to always hit it on a big point, just pray

  crazy ghost stories. I mean, and you go, is it a

  It's a meditation on the life of Christ, right?

  see the true and sincere faith of your Protestant brothers and

  judgement that we pass on somebody without knowing.

  become inadvertent objects of worship that displace the

  grander truth, right? We can get superstitious, we

  it's written in Acts that they brought handkerchiefs and aprons

  and touched Paul, brought it back, healed the sick and cast

  the Bible, right? And the Elijah Bones story

  It's a really cool connection actually between CBN and EWTN.

  Gabby after hours told me this story on the show and I didn't

  know it was such a cool thing he said.

  Did you know that Pat Robertson showed Mother Angelica the TV
• 56:31
  station and gave her some time and taught her a little bit
• 56:35
  about the business because he wanted to have Catholics on
• 56:37
  there, too. And she goes, how much does one
• 56:39
  of these cost? And he gave her a number.
• 56:41
  And it was then that she went home and bought a satellite.
• 56:44
  And all this, that famous story where she was like, in the
• 56:46
  Chapel praying. And it's like, all right, your
• 56:48
  satellite's here. I have the money for it.
• 56:50
  And some guys calling from the yacht saying, hey, I saw your
• 56:53
  pamphlets and I need that. And so it was cool to hear that
• 56:56
  there was this connection between these two.
• 56:58
  So we each week document wild stories of answered prayers,
• 57:03
  healings, reconciliations from just really cool Christians.
• 57:07
  Like police officers say, you know what, Lord, be with me on
• 57:10
  the beat today. Where do you want to take me?
• 57:12
  Right? Like, go there and then crazy
• 57:17
  crime gets solved. Like, what if I'm not saying
• 57:19
  that's prescriptive for everybody, but like, what if we
• 57:21
  just invite or one guy's like, hey, I asked God where I should
• 57:24
  go to lunch. I'm like, really?
• 57:25
  And he said, yeah, Chick-fil-A or Chipotle.
• 57:27
  Now he goes, I just go, God, like, is there someone you want
• 57:30
  me to meet today? I just, I throw the question out
• 57:32
  there. I don't wait to be divinely LED
• 57:34
  for each time. And then he shares a story where
• 57:36
  one day they didn't get an impression.
• 57:38
  They said, well, we're craving Thai food.
• 57:39
  They go to a Thai restaurant and there's a guy waiting at the
• 57:41
  Thai restaurant who had been praying about meeting his friend
• 57:44
  for weeks and felt like God was like, you need to come to this
• 57:47
  restaurant and he shows I was like, you walked in here and I
• 57:50
  had to start praying for you. And it was the wildest like
• 57:53
  divine appointment. So you have little things like
• 57:56
  that, people getting healed. But for me, what started the
• 57:59
  thing was I in that tough season of faith, basically was like,
• 58:02
  all right, Lord, I need, I need you to speak like it has to be
• 58:05
  because I'm, I don't feel like I hear your voice, right?
• 58:08
  And I know we don't live life from shouting like it needs.
• 58:11
  You know, there's more often it's the like Elijah, right?
• 58:13
  It's the still small voice, right?
• 58:15
  But every now and then God needs to shout sometimes, right, to
• 58:18
  get our attention. So I went on a hike.
• 58:20
  I was really praying about a big decision and it was a yes or no
• 58:23
  thing. And so I hiked up the top of
• 58:26
  this mountain and I was so sad. I've been going through a tough
• 58:29
  time. I literally got in the dirt,
• 58:31
  like on my knees and was just like kind of what Christian Bale
• 58:34
  from Batman on God, like, where are you?
• 58:36
  You know, I was just like God and they use some non Christian
• 58:39
  language that would be bleeped out if I said it.
• 58:41
  And I was like just raw though. And I think God really likes
• 58:44
  that when you're raw, right? You know, I mean, he's like,
• 58:47
  we'll, we'll talk about the reverence later.
• 58:48
  But like, this is a mode that I can work with this, right?
• 58:51
  Feel like you're distant. I feel like I don't know you.
• 58:53
  I feel like, you know, I just what's going on.
• 58:57
  I was like, fine, so I very not this is not good.
• 59:00
  Don't do this. But God mercifully doesn't is OK
• 59:04
  with this because I'm still here.
• 59:06
  But I said, all right, you have an hour to say yes or no, or
• 59:08
  then I'm just going to go do what I want, right?
• 59:10
  So I started walking down the mountain and this family shows
• 59:13
  up. I don't know where they were,
• 59:14
  like I did not see them hiking. And they start yelling Ryan,
• 59:19
  wait. Like Ryan wait.
• 59:21
  As I'm trying to hike down this mountain kind of going, there's
• 59:24
  clearly someone ahead named Ryan.
• 59:25
  But for the next 30 minutes, I'm like trying to pray and hear
• 59:28
  God's voice. And all I hear is the shouting
• 59:29
  Ryan Waite, Ryan Waite. So I get the bottom of the hill
• 59:32
  and I'm like, OK, that would be like, well, wait, wasn't one of
• 59:36
  the answers. It was yes or no, right?
• 59:38
  So I called a friend and he goes, dude, what are the odds a
• 59:41
  family on a mountain is yelling Ryan Waite while you're praying
• 59:44
  for this? And I go, I mean, it's a
• 59:46
  coincidence, right? You know, but you're right.
• 59:48
  It's probably God speaking, right.
• 59:49
  So for the and then the next week, I just heard the words
• 59:51
  wait. I turn on the radio.
• 59:53
  Tom Petty's the waiting would come on.
• 59:54
  Just all those moments where you're like, you hear the word
• 59:56
  wait. And I'm like, well, maybe God
• 59:58
  doesn't subscribe to my yes or no.
• 59:59
  Maybe he's like, no, wait. He wants more than an hour.

  Yeah. And wait also is wait's
• 1:00:03
  sometimes tougher because there's no clicks.
• 1:00:05
  Wait is like waiting also means you could be waiting on someone
• 1:00:08
  else. Maybe someone else is involved
• 1:00:10
  in the decision and he's working on them.
• 1:00:12
  I mean, there's a million barrels, but by it was Palm
• 1:00:15
  Sunday that happened. So Easter Sunday, like most
• 1:00:17
  miracles. Yeah, I know this is five years
• 1:00:19
  ago by Easter Sunday, like many miracles, they don't last.
• 1:00:24
  I mean, how how quickly the Israelites are like, let's go
• 1:00:27
  back, right? I mean, they walk through the
• 1:00:29
  ocean, the seas parted and they're like, let's go back to
• 1:00:31
  Egypt. So we've no matter how dramatic
• 1:00:34
  the moment and man, don't count on it forever because like we
• 1:00:38
  need, you know, mirror. It's a reason why we can't live
• 1:00:40
  miracle to miracle, right? Grateful when they happen, but
• 1:00:42
  they are not the anchor. That being said, I'm still
• 1:00:45
  talking about the story. So it has been powerful.
• 1:00:47
  So that Sunday I was like, you know, that was a coincidence.
• 1:00:50
  That's all that was. I just like whatever, right?
• 1:00:52
  So I said, God, you need to have someone call me and tell me that
• 1:00:55
  was a coincidence or else I'm not going to believe it again.

  Forgive me. Lord, that wasn't a coincidence.
• 1:01:02
  Yeah, that was you? Yeah, and so that I was writing
• 1:01:05
  out my prayer journal and then I hear A and I was like, oh, it's
• 1:01:08
  my phone. And I turn it off because, you
• 1:01:10
  know, no phone during prayer journal, open it up.
• 1:01:12
  And this guy in Nashville who I'd met once had texted me and
• 1:01:17
  he didn't know anything. I hadn't talked to him in
• 1:01:20
  months, you know, And he goes, hey, dude, it's praying for you
• 1:01:23
  this morning and felt like God had said that something happened
• 1:01:26
  to you like in the wilderness or something, and he wants you to
• 1:01:29
  know it was him and not a coincidence.
• 1:01:32
  And I went well I said phone call but.
• 1:01:36
  And like I, I guess I'm waiting. And so I did and I waited and
• 1:01:40
  longer story it was, it turned into a really cool season where
• 1:01:43
  I just started collecting incredible stories.
• 1:01:46
  And it's such an honor to be able to tell them now.
• 1:01:49
  And I want to be very clear, like, because when you tell
• 1:01:52
  these miracle stories, right, we all know people who've lost
• 1:01:55
  loved ones, like who their prayer.
• 1:01:57
  I have prayed people into the ground, right?
• 1:02:01
  And I've had people, you know, a friend with brain cancer and
• 1:02:03
  prayed and he died also prayed for people with back pain and it
• 1:02:07
  gets instantly healed and you go, I don't know God, right?
• 1:02:11
  But it is important to know that God is doing cool things today
• 1:02:15
  and I am seeing it. It's not in the timing always I
• 1:02:19
  want I wish I could have a formula for it right.
• 1:02:22
  Everyone wants to figure out the proprietary.
• 1:02:23
  I will say a lot of people say they fast and pray and I one
• 1:02:26
  thing that came out with every interview we've done on this
• 1:02:28
  miracle series is the private time.
• 1:02:31
  All of these folks are like, it was privately me with the Lord
• 1:02:35
  preparing in private for anything I wanted him to do
• 1:02:38
  publicly. And it was, it's been really
• 1:02:41
  inspiring. But I just want to encourage
• 1:02:43
  anyone out there that like, if you think you got spiritual
• 1:02:45
  affliction, like go talk to someone, right?
• 1:02:47
  You know, interesting. Like, so do you know why most of
• 1:02:49
  the exorcism cases we have are female?
• 1:02:53
  Why? Because they ask for help.
• 1:02:55
  Guys ask for help, right? You know, guys probably get
• 1:02:58
  possessed more. But like fathers, like, you
• 1:03:00
  know, it's, it's like, yeah, why are there so many cases?
• 1:03:02
  Because they're the ones who are willing to say, you know, I
• 1:03:04
  think I have a problem. We live a case where a guy's
• 1:03:06
  ignoring it, you know, And so, but if you have a, if you think
• 1:03:09
  of a spiritual, maybe it could be spiritual, right?
• 1:03:11
  Ask for help, get prayer. If you need a healing, go for
• 1:03:14
  it. Be OK, like, right, it may not
• 1:03:16
  happen, but it might. And to live in that tension is
• 1:03:20
  really difficult. But they're just ordinary people
• 1:03:24
  who are super smart and are just walking with God and he is doing
• 1:03:28
  cool things today. And that's been really
• 1:03:30
  encouraging. And so I want to encourage
• 1:03:32
  people, don't let the the naturalistic, you know, only
• 1:03:36
  science driven narrative say that, you know, miracles aren't
• 1:03:39
  happening today because there are inexplicable things
• 1:03:42
  happening. People who were married and had
• 1:03:45
  affairs and divorced and then get back together and
• 1:03:48
  reconciled. I mean, there's just there's
• 1:03:50
  cool stuff happening. And so let's just be optimistic
• 1:03:52
  and upbeat and go for it. Amazing.
• 1:03:56
