- 3:21Speaker 1: the cunt. You always got some big time talent tied
- 3:24Speaker 1: to his plays. And I will come across Redemption of
- 3:27Speaker 1: a Dog. That's the name of this this next big
- 3:29Speaker 1: stage place, Redemption of a Dog starring Snoop Dog. I
- 3:36Speaker 1: don't even think that even tells the hotel man's it's
- 3:39Speaker 1: kind of cool man because when when when you approached
- 3:41Speaker 1: me about it, as he said, yeah, so, uh, you
- 3:44Speaker 1: know I want you to come aboard. And uh, I
- 3:47Speaker 1: know you've worked with Snoop before. I don't know exactly
- 3:49Speaker 1: what to expect from him or can still so I'm
- 3:53Speaker 1: not sure exactly what I signed though, bo, but I'm
- 3:56Speaker 1: a right to script and you know for your on
- 3:58Speaker 1: board and I've seen you know it'll help me shape
- 4:00Speaker 1: it around, you know, swoops life and whatnot. And uh,
- 4:03Speaker 1: he told me some of the sto I don't want
- 4:05Speaker 1: to give too much of the suck away, but it
- 4:07Speaker 1: it is very very intercaning. I mean, you get all
- 4:10Speaker 1: the sloops graded. Come on, come on, what's my name?
- 4:14Speaker 1: What's my name? What's my name? Good? And so so
- 4:18Speaker 1: let's let's wrap it up. Come a girl, Angel is
- 4:20Speaker 1: on whle. I want to make sure because Angel, don't worry.
- 4:23Speaker 1: We've been talking. But girl, you've been on everybody's mind.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna set up. She's on the phone right now.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We've got to acknowledge she's here, so get everybody hyped up.
- 4:30Speaker 1: She's the co star co star of the family. Time
- 4:34Speaker 1: is the start of the sixth season. That's why they're
- 4:36Speaker 1: on my show to promote the start of the sixth
- 4:38Speaker 1: seasons on Bounce TV. She is the female version of
- 4:42Speaker 1: the female side of the Star Wars family, who relocated
- 4:45Speaker 1: to the suburbs after hitting the lottery their high school sweethearts.
- 4:49Speaker 1: She plays the role of Lisa on the show. They
- 4:52Speaker 1: have low, relovingly quarrels at Lisa. I asked the angel.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I asked the omar, have you ever met a white
- 5:00Speaker 1: the name Ebony? And he didn't say anything. So we're
- 5:02Speaker 1: gonna keep it rolling here. Please welcome to the show,
- 5:05Speaker 1: Angel can Well. Good good, Angel and joined us, and
- 5:13Speaker 1: I'm happy she plays his wife on the TV show
- 5:16Speaker 1: Family Time. When we talk about that right now, because
- 5:19Speaker 1: the show is exciting, it's entering his sixth season. I'm
- 5:22Speaker 1: telling sitcom world that's something. And my boy, Biley Evans,
- 5:26Speaker 1: as one of his shows, who I Love to Death,
- 5:28Speaker 1: gave me my start, not one of my more I
- 5:31Speaker 1: shouldn't say my start, but he gave me one of
- 5:32Speaker 1: my big lifts and TV when he named me the
- 5:34Speaker 1: co executive producer of the Jamie Foxx Show. So, my
- 5:38Speaker 1: boy on the phone right now, I just wanna let
- 5:40Speaker 1: everybody know where Omar and I go back all the
- 5:42Speaker 1: way back to smart guy, always got always gotta go
- 5:44Speaker 1: back somewhere. I go back to a smart guy with him,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and uh, please welcome to the show again, Omar Gooding,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and please welcome again, Angel Conwell. Okay, you know been talking.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You know he's been talked. He didn't talk, he's been
- 6:01Speaker 1: saying some stuff that most people in public shouldn't even
- 6:04Speaker 1: be hearing. Okay, now tell us about you girl, tell
- 6:07Speaker 1: us about this show. Let's let's get some Let's get
- 6:09Speaker 1: some female energy going on this show. Tell us about
- 6:12Speaker 1: the show. Angel, you want me to bring you know,
- 6:17Speaker 1: to the divine conversation. Um, you know, we we were lucky.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We've we've been on for six seasons. You know, it's
- 6:25Speaker 1: it's been great, honestly to be able to work with
- 6:27Speaker 1: all mar we first worked together. And baby boy, baby boy,
- 6:31Speaker 1: you know, baby boy, what was that you were seven
- 6:35Speaker 1: back then? Right, you was a young girl. I couldn't
- 6:36Speaker 1: look at you back then because you were seventeens. I couldn't.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I could. I could think about you, but I couldn't
- 6:42Speaker 1: look at you. Yea. I was confusing to people though,
- 6:47Speaker 1: because I was definitely you know, in my teens. But
- 6:49Speaker 1: I was developed at a very early age. So that
- 6:51Speaker 1: was that. That wasn't fair. That wasn't fair. Okay, that
- 6:55Speaker 1: wasn't fair. You know, you came out of the car,
- 6:59Speaker 1: you came about the call. It wasn't right after that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It wasn't right after that. Yeah, but it was God's plan.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So no, no, no, no, no, it was God's work.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It was God's work. It's God's word. Let's let's get
- 7:12Speaker 1: the plan and to work together because God worked on you. Okay,
- 7:16Speaker 1: he still is appreciated. He didn't have to do it,
- 7:22Speaker 1: but he did. Good I mean family time. He mentioned
- 7:25Speaker 1: Bentley Evans, you know, created the show a while ago,
- 7:28Speaker 1: and you know Monday, I told her first the season
- 7:31Speaker 1: six premiere. She good Man said, none of that stuff.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You said, no premiere, ded What are you doing on
- 7:39Speaker 1: the phone, dude? She just been on the phone one minute?
- 7:45Speaker 1: One minute. She introduced. Tell us about Benley Evans, she
- 7:49Speaker 1: told about baby Boy. She told the show going premiere
- 7:53Speaker 1: October first on Boux TV. You ain't said nothing. We've
- 7:56Speaker 1: been talking about your kids. A hilarious let's talk about
- 8:04Speaker 1: Let's just talk about Let's talk about the show a
- 8:07Speaker 1: little bit. So, so the character the show is about
- 8:11Speaker 1: you guys want the lottery? Correct what I think? It's
- 8:13Speaker 1: hilarious and I know people like this, you know who
- 8:16Speaker 1: win money. It's the it's the money. People who don't
- 8:19Speaker 1: have money should never really get money that that much money,
- 8:23Speaker 1: that fair. It should be a gradual growth in your life.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And so that instantly, that's comedy there. So over the
- 8:30Speaker 1: six year growth of the show, what are the changes
- 8:33Speaker 1: that you've seen in the characters? Starting with you a
- 8:35Speaker 1: mare than our angel. I want you to chime in,
- 8:38Speaker 1: m let me take this off news now go ahead,
- 8:41Speaker 1: I'll be gigging it there. So. Yeah, so the growth
- 8:45Speaker 1: of the characters and the kids, first of all, have
- 8:48Speaker 1: sprouted up. You know, six years, people grow, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you watch the show and watch somebody grow our kids
- 8:54Speaker 1: now in season six off the college, Uh, the young
- 8:58Speaker 1: girl is our daughter is so you know what type
- 9:01Speaker 1: of problems those bringing? Right? And uh? In this season
- 9:04Speaker 1: we go from sad to see them go too happy
- 9:08Speaker 1: to have the house to ourselves, you know what I'm
- 9:10Speaker 1: talking about, get back into that grown folk business. Not
- 9:13Speaker 1: so much. You know, ain't no much bickering between Tony
- 9:16Speaker 1: and Lisa's more husband and kissing and being created to
- 9:19Speaker 1: bring that romantic spark back into their life type of situation. Um.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And then the kids come back home and we miss
- 9:25Speaker 1: them again, and then we want them going again. So
- 9:27Speaker 1: you know, it's kind of a roller coaster ride, uh,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you know, because these these kids is quite especially our boy.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Our boy comes with a few a few surprises, you
- 9:34Speaker 1: guys learned right out the gate. I believe its few
- 9:40Speaker 1: surprise you know. You know what I'm talking about. Grandpa
- 9:42Speaker 1: cares things like that. We keep it about Okay, real
- 9:46Speaker 1: issues angel, Angel, Okay here you know. But but to
- 9:53Speaker 1: be honest, he explained that pretty pretty, don't give him
- 9:57Speaker 1: that much credit. Please don't give him that much credit.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm how to give the guy from credit. Ida, baby boy,
- 10:03Speaker 1: don't don't do that. Don't do that. Yeah, we've do
- 10:07Speaker 1: we do. That's when we're working again. Another one of
- 10:10Speaker 1: Guy's plans. That's another one of Guy's plans. But no,
- 10:12Speaker 1: we um, you know. For for Lesa, I mean, it's true,
- 10:14Speaker 1: the kids are now, they're going off to college. We're
- 10:17Speaker 1: just adjusting to you know, we're adjusting to life without
- 10:20Speaker 1: them being in our space as much and realizing that,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you know, maybe we might be a little older than
- 10:25Speaker 1: we thought, because I think half the time we can't
- 10:27Speaker 1: even keep up the family to really do the things
- 10:30Speaker 1: we thought we would be able to do. Um. You know.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And then my character Lisa, she she's always been going
- 10:35Speaker 1: back and forth. She's, you know, of course, she takes
- 10:37Speaker 1: care of home, she takes care of the care of
- 10:39Speaker 1: house and home. But now that the kids are gone,
- 10:42Speaker 1: she's kind of, you know, trying to find a hop
- 10:44Speaker 1: she's kind of trying to figure out what to do
- 10:45Speaker 1: with it. Like which you know, it's something that I
- 10:47Speaker 1: hear that a lot of parents go through where it's
- 10:49Speaker 1: kind of like they're trying to basically reinvent themselves, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 1: with you know, because you know she had such a
- 10:54Speaker 1: major part of your life. Oh yeah, I have fun
- 10:58Speaker 1: this season with the with the change it well, I
- 11:00Speaker 1: can tell that. Now. I want to talk a little
- 11:02Speaker 1: bit about your your career, some of the some of
- 11:05Speaker 1: the other experiences that you had a long way because
- 11:07Speaker 1: I'm a big soap opera fan, and what will you
- 11:11Speaker 1: that the whole the lifestyle and the and the and
- 11:15Speaker 1: the work that you have to put in as a
- 11:17Speaker 1: soap opera star. How's that different from a sitcom? Ohly,
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's just a totally different um tone of honestly, because,
- 11:27Speaker 1: to be truthful, one most soap operas, at least someone
- 11:29Speaker 1: I was on The Young and the Restless um and
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know, I'll go back every now and then, but
- 11:35Speaker 1: we do one take pretty much one take of every scene.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And you know, I played a lawyer, a very busy
- 11:41Speaker 1: lawyer with a lot of legal jargons. And you know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm also I'm also pretty much a perfectionist. You know,
- 11:48Speaker 1: A perception is to an extent because I also understand that,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know, as an artist of someone who's expressed it
- 11:53Speaker 1: and you want to create you Also, there's something very
- 11:55Speaker 1: special about being in the moment, but also perfessionally. So
- 11:58Speaker 1: for me, I honestly have no social life, which isn't
- 12:01Speaker 1: really a problem because even before the show I really
- 12:03Speaker 1: didn't either. Actually, especially the three or four no I was.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I was really on a front burner story they call
- 12:12Speaker 1: it on social five or six years. I definitely, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: mean I barely stepped outside of the house. I was
- 12:17Speaker 1: always reading a script, you know that, especially after they
- 12:20Speaker 1: created a family around my character. So, I mean I
- 12:24Speaker 1: love it. I mean the characters are classic. Most of
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Young the Wrestlers have been on for like forty
- 12:29Speaker 1: something years. You know, I heard of because we've all
- 12:31Speaker 1: been seeing these characters, whether we realize it or not,
- 12:34Speaker 1: in our Parisio for for years, for decades. Yeah. I
- 12:38Speaker 1: grew up with a young in the Wrestler Classic, grew
- 12:40Speaker 1: up on that General Hospital, those two shows I grew up. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 1: so now you did something with Melissa McCarthy, you know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: on the show Nobody's on TV Land. You know the
- 12:51Speaker 1: thing about a talent like her, which I'm a big
- 12:53Speaker 1: fan of Melissa. This is a human being. I'm a
- 12:56Speaker 1: big fan of her. Just put the town on aside,
- 12:58Speaker 1: how I'm working, what what what tips are you know?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Working with after a comedy legend because of what she's
- 13:05Speaker 1: done in such a short period. Mm hmm. Yeah, that
- 13:10Speaker 1: that was awesome to just be in her vicinity. Most
- 13:13Speaker 1: of my scenes and my direct scenes were actually with
- 13:15Speaker 1: Mark Paul Gosser from UM Paved by the Bell would
- 13:19Speaker 1: know him that's back, So we we were actually a
- 13:21Speaker 1: show within a show, so we played husband and wife
- 13:25Speaker 1: on the show within the show UM. But to be
- 13:27Speaker 1: around such comedy geniuses and legends, we just realized, honestly,
- 13:31Speaker 1: most people are just having fun and a lot of
- 13:34Speaker 1: the a lot of the jokes and a lot of
- 13:36Speaker 1: the moments and the beats that we signed to be
- 13:39Speaker 1: so funny are a lot of times just their their
- 13:42Speaker 1: moments that we're just happened in just off the top
- 13:45Speaker 1: of their don't which is always amazing. So I realized
- 13:49Speaker 1: for sports, for that to happen and much it's comes
- 13:51Speaker 1: from a place of confidence. So you know, no matter
- 13:54Speaker 1: what you're doing, confidence is always kind of the foundation
- 13:58Speaker 1: that it needs to be built time, because here's the
- 14:00Speaker 1: grapes just have have They have that confidence and maybe
- 14:03Speaker 1: it's not natural, but it's definitely built. Okay, cool hey,
- 14:06Speaker 1: sweet Pee, Sweet Pete, get off that mute sweet Pee.
- 14:11Speaker 1: You know, sweet Pete. See you see how he didn't know.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I knew. I didn't know. I knew. Come on, Sweetpe,
- 14:20Speaker 1: that's that's his name on the on baby board, sweet Pee.
- 14:27Speaker 1: How many brothers from the hood. Yes, sweet sept Hey,
- 14:32Speaker 1: I want I want to just take the time. Thank you,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you know coming on my show first of all, and
- 14:37Speaker 1: know that I support the brand and Angel. It would
- 14:40Speaker 1: have been horrible not getting on this show because I
- 14:42Speaker 1: always wanted to meet you, and um, you are. You
- 14:46Speaker 1: are a star. You are a champion. You know how
- 14:49Speaker 1: to promote so anything you do, you know, not that
- 14:52Speaker 1: you above age. You know, I could look at you,
- 14:55Speaker 1: look at you, look at you, you know, without without
- 14:58Speaker 1: feeling bad about myself. You know, look, because God's work
- 15:01Speaker 1: came on you early. Yeah, but uh on the October one,
- 15:08Speaker 1: everybody Bounce TV. It's family time. It's starting these very
- 15:13Speaker 1: talented people. It's great here Omar talk. You know, ever
- 15:17Speaker 1: since Smart Guy been a fan of his talents because
- 15:19Speaker 1: he can do both. He can do serious, he can
- 15:21Speaker 1: do drama, just like Angel can do serious and drama.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And that's a that takes a special gift to do that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So please watch the premiere of their show Family Time
- 15:29Speaker 1: is the sixth season on the Bounce TV. Uh, ladies
- 15:33Speaker 1: and gentlemen, thank you very much coming on my show,

- 17:17Speaker 1: mcdown Welcome to Money Making Conversation. I'm your host, Rashan McDonald.
- 17:20Speaker 1: My next guest um from the windy city of Chicago.

- 17:27Speaker 1: the executive produced Steve Harvey's talk show Up in Chicago.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So I know about Chicago, the cold of Chicago, the
- 17:35Speaker 1: food of Chicago. And now we're about to talk about
- 17:38Speaker 1: a bab mix for Legend in Chicago. Uh. He's a
- 17:43Speaker 1: native of Chicago's West Side. He is the founder and
- 17:45Speaker 1: CEO of Flow Entertainment and Interactive Entertainment Company. He's also
- 17:50Speaker 1: a recording artist with Level Next Music, an established songwriter,
- 17:55Speaker 1: music producer, and the founder of the k w Oe
- 17:58Speaker 1: Hope Foundation. Please welcome to money Making Conversations, Kareem Whales.
- 18:03Speaker 1: What's up? What's up? Y'all? What's up? My man? You go,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you go, you will come up with what's up? What's up?
- 18:08Speaker 1: What's up? What's what? Check? Mike, Mike check, Mike, Mike check,
- 18:11Speaker 1: my check. I can't believe you did that? Tree, what's up?
- 18:16Speaker 1: What's up? What's up? What's line? You sound like a
- 18:17Speaker 1: software airlines commercial? How you doing, my friend? I'm good.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'm good, brother. How you doing? I'm really good? And
- 18:26Speaker 1: welcome to Atlanta. You also heard on a Siris ex
- 18:29Speaker 1: m which is um HBCU campuses and Howard University Campus.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You also heard on our Heart Radio podcast. So and
- 18:38Speaker 1: also if you have Alexa, just say money making conversation
- 18:41Speaker 1: and you pop onto somebody's house right now. That's how
- 18:43Speaker 1: we do it, money making conversation, sir. Now we'll tell
- 18:47Speaker 1: me what you do in your life. Right now, you
- 18:49Speaker 1: know we're gonna expose you to my brand. My brain
- 18:51Speaker 1: is about as a female dominated brand, as a as
- 18:55Speaker 1: a brand that want about entrepreneurship, and that's what you lead.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You're an interesting uh lane of entrepreneurship and I wanted
- 19:01Speaker 1: to bring you on my show just to talk about
- 19:03Speaker 1: your personality, talk about your background, talk about the things
- 19:07Speaker 1: that inspire you to be great, because after say, you're
- 19:10Speaker 1: being great because you're doing you having success in a
- 19:12Speaker 1: very unique field. So talk to us well. UM. Actually, uh,
- 19:18Speaker 1: as you said before, I am the owner of Entertainment,
- 19:21Speaker 1: which is an interactive entertainment company. We specialize in DJ's dances, MCS, musicians,
- 19:30Speaker 1: sound lighting, staging. UM. We mainly do private events, one
- 19:37Speaker 1: being bar Misspah's. They called me the King to the Metzvah's. Um.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I book out three to four years in advance. Um,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and it's it's it's it's an amazing thing. You used
- 19:48Speaker 1: to be able to go out and do something that
- 19:50Speaker 1: you love with kids, you know, in their families, three
- 19:55Speaker 1: years in advance. The only thing I know is three
- 19:58Speaker 1: years in advance. Tick to the jazz game, to the
- 20:01Speaker 1: package game and the Bears game. They get season seats.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So how many events do you do a year? And
- 20:11Speaker 1: just to just to bring everything into perspective, well, I
- 20:15Speaker 1: have I have a team of a team of uh
- 20:18Speaker 1: early six people that can go out and do these parties.
- 20:22Speaker 1: So in the in the Jewish community have you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: apartments which is for a boy and a bott mitzvah
- 20:28Speaker 1: which is for a girl. And they have to they
- 20:31Speaker 1: started an early age to start reading from the tora
- 20:35Speaker 1: and learning the tora. Uh. It's a religious thing. So
- 20:38Speaker 1: it starts when they're you know, ten years old, nineteen
- 20:41Speaker 1: years old, so they get those you know, eight nineteen
- 20:44Speaker 1: years old, and they get those dates early. They get
- 20:46Speaker 1: them early to do to sell the actual celebration. They
- 20:48Speaker 1: have the service during the day usually and then at
- 20:51Speaker 1: night at Saturday night, they have a celebration. It's a
- 20:54Speaker 1: coming of age event. A it's a good deed you
- 21:00Speaker 1: to religious duty as a commandment. So they have to
- 21:02Speaker 1: do these things and when they do it, they celebrate
- 21:05Speaker 1: at night. And and we provide that entertainment. We provide
- 21:08Speaker 1: interactive entertainment. And so in order to get me, in
- 21:12Speaker 1: order to get the company, you have to call us
- 21:14Speaker 1: early because you know, um, we go all over, not
- 21:17Speaker 1: just in Chicago, but you know here in Chicago they
- 21:20Speaker 1: get it's it's just a lot of parties. So we
- 21:22Speaker 1: do anywhere from you know a hundred and you know
- 21:26Speaker 1: a hundred plus like you know, hundred thirty hundred and
- 21:29Speaker 1: forty parties. Um a season and the bar Missile season
- 21:33Speaker 1: is from uh like the third week of August all
- 21:37Speaker 1: the way until June when the kids go away to camp.
- 21:40Speaker 1: So um, yeah, it's it's been an amazing riding and
- 21:44Speaker 1: something that I would have ever thought that I would
- 21:47Speaker 1: be doing that, you know that I would have found
- 21:50Speaker 1: a niche born and and and to create a special
- 21:53Speaker 1: way of doing it, you know, um, not just what
- 21:56Speaker 1: makes so popular and engaging because you know, first of all, congratulations,
- 22:02Speaker 1: let's get that out there. Thank you. And secondly, you're
- 22:04Speaker 1: taking advantage, you're taking your taking advantage of an opportunity
- 22:08Speaker 1: and then like and then it getting magnified. Let you
- 22:11Speaker 1: used to have a staff of thirty six people, so
- 22:13Speaker 1: obviously your business is a profitable business. So okay, you
- 22:19Speaker 1: did your first one and then all of a sudden,
- 22:22Speaker 1: how did the second one come about? And how did
- 22:24Speaker 1: you eventually realize I'm on to something. Well, you know, um,
- 22:31Speaker 1: the first, the first party I ever did, I was
- 22:33Speaker 1: tall because the company at the time they were short
- 22:36Speaker 1: of dancing. And one of my half brothers he called
- 22:39Speaker 1: me up and was like, you know, he knew I
- 22:41Speaker 1: could dance. He was just like, man, we need somebody,
- 22:43Speaker 1: you know, right away, And he knew I was close
- 22:45Speaker 1: in the area. So I went over there and got
- 22:48Speaker 1: over there and and I get there and it's inside
- 22:51Speaker 1: of this big nightclub, you know they were. They took
- 22:54Speaker 1: over the entire nightclub, right about the entire place. And
- 22:58Speaker 1: I get there and I look on stage and I'm
- 22:59Speaker 1: just like, what is it like his fifty and birthday
- 23:02Speaker 1: or something like, you know, what is it? He pretty
- 23:04Speaker 1: said no, He pointed to to the to the young man.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It was like, it's his party. And I was just
- 23:10Speaker 1: blown away, Like I couldn't believe that it was a
- 23:12Speaker 1: thirteen year old kids party with you know, all those adults,
- 23:15Speaker 1: all those kids singing and dancing, and I just could
- 23:20Speaker 1: not believe it. I was. I was blown away. I
- 23:21Speaker 1: did that. I didn't really know anything about or anything
- 23:25Speaker 1: in the Jewish community, you know, I really didn't, and
- 23:28Speaker 1: it just blew my mind. And then I put in
- 23:30Speaker 1: putting a little little research to find out what it
- 23:33Speaker 1: was really about. And when I learned that it wasn't
- 23:35Speaker 1: just about throwing a big party. It was about a commandment,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you know, from God, the big religious duty that you know,
- 23:40Speaker 1: a good deed that the kid had to do. This
- 23:42Speaker 1: was something that was a part of their religion. And
- 23:45Speaker 1: I thought that was beautiful. I thought it was amazing
- 23:46Speaker 1: to celebrate a coming of age party that way. You know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I just thought it was amazing. It was. It was,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, like like what I like to say today.
- 23:54Speaker 1: It was a party with purpose. It wasn't just like, okay,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know a sweet sixteen. You know, I get it,
- 23:58Speaker 1: you know it super sweet sixteen. But this is something
- 24:00Speaker 1: you can only do one time with a kid, you know,
- 24:04Speaker 1: um and you know it. Truly, it wasn't always like
- 24:07Speaker 1: this for me. It wasn't you know, I didn't. I didn't.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It wasn't always called the King of the miss was.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I had no idea that I would be doing you know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: private events the way that we're doing. Um, no, no,
- 24:17Speaker 1: because I can't let you miss steps that. Okay. You
- 24:20Speaker 1: came in as a as a dancer. Okay, you're dancing.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Now you're not. You're not the king of about miss
- 24:25Speaker 1: for yet. You know you you're a last second dancer
- 24:29Speaker 1: that okay, I was last I was. I was like,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I was, I was an emergency call. Okay, let's let's
- 24:36Speaker 1: go back to the second one. Okay. So so now
- 24:39Speaker 1: you're you just start, So go to the steps here
- 24:42Speaker 1: so my fan base can understand how you just took
- 24:45Speaker 1: a concept, an idea and when I said a blessing,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you took a blessing and build. Okay. So so the
- 24:54Speaker 1: first party I did, the party, Uh, people were excited
- 24:57Speaker 1: by that. By that month day it was a Saturday.
- 25:01Speaker 1: By that Monday, I get a call from the owner
- 25:03Speaker 1: at the time of that company and he said, you
- 25:06Speaker 1: brought something different. He was like, you brought something you know,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you brought something different to the to the table. And
- 25:12Speaker 1: he was like, so people request you, the people that
- 25:14Speaker 1: were there, we're doing some of their parties and their kids.
- 25:18Speaker 1: You just came in as a dancer, dude, Okay, what
- 25:21Speaker 1: were you doing? Made the worm on the floor, the snag?
- 25:25Speaker 1: What were you doing? Man? You're a party you are
- 25:29Speaker 1: a party starter. Like you you're hyping the crowd up,
- 25:32Speaker 1: like okay, dancing with them. They were doing like follow
- 25:35Speaker 1: along stuff that they were doing, you know, three steps
- 25:38Speaker 1: to the left, three steps to the right, was that
- 25:40Speaker 1: kind of thing. But master hype master, Yeah, yeah, we're
- 25:46Speaker 1: hyping the crowd up with the c m C. The
- 25:49Speaker 1: m C had the mic and the dances were literally
- 25:51Speaker 1: dancing with the people. Like you know, you have about
- 25:53Speaker 1: four to six day and sometimes eight, you got out
- 25:56Speaker 1: there and you just hyping the crowd up, you know,
- 25:59Speaker 1: singing with the is they get the time, they get
- 26:01Speaker 1: a lot of what we call follow along vans and like,
- 26:04Speaker 1: you know, just movement, energetic movement. You know, I'm proud
- 26:09Speaker 1: of the fact that you have a title like the
- 26:11Speaker 1: King of nas and Chicago. But before we wrap up,
- 26:14Speaker 1: I want to I'll be remiss if I don't talk
- 26:16Speaker 1: about the Kwoe Hope Foundation and the short synopsis tell
- 26:20Speaker 1: us exactly what that is, Kareem, so we can know
- 26:23Speaker 1: how we can make donations if possible. It's a five
- 26:26Speaker 1: and one se three. Uh, it's the QUO Foundation. And
- 26:31Speaker 1: I'm just really using using myself in my life experiences
- 26:35Speaker 1: to influence young young kids and just into influence adults
- 26:40Speaker 1: that they can. There's always room for change. And my
- 26:43Speaker 1: story is to help really um remove people from the
- 26:50Speaker 1: communities that they're in, remove people from the communities that
- 26:53Speaker 1: they're in, remove them from the mind state that they're in.
- 26:57Speaker 1: More so, remove them from the mind of state at
- 27:00Speaker 1: they're hand. Because I was in that same mindsetate I
- 27:02Speaker 1: thought it was just about a certain thing. So my
- 27:04Speaker 1: my goal is to continue to go out speak because
- 27:07Speaker 1: I do speak, engage with why go and just inspire
- 27:10Speaker 1: the kids with my life story. You know, I went
- 27:12Speaker 1: back and got much e d two years ago. I
- 27:15Speaker 1: went back, you know what I mean. I tell them
- 27:16Speaker 1: my entire story. So it's to really help change the
- 27:19Speaker 1: trajectory of our young youth and to so that they
- 27:25Speaker 1: can make better choices. My job has inspired them, to
- 27:29Speaker 1: encourage them to do better and to be better. That
- 27:31Speaker 1: is my job and I'm gonna always do that As
- 27:34Speaker 1: a black man, I'm gonna be that black man that
- 27:35Speaker 1: can inspire people. They can inspire the kids. And I
- 27:38Speaker 1: want to show the different white people and I want
- 27:40Speaker 1: to show the other communities that look, no, not all
- 27:43Speaker 1: bad things come from these places. Bad things come from
- 27:46Speaker 1: everywhere in the world. Like I want to show you that.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Look you got this young black high school dropout eggs
- 27:52Speaker 1: drug dealer who is now called the Kingdom the Mistrans
- 27:55Speaker 1: and I'm running some of the top that the top
- 27:58Speaker 1: party in the country like that. I gotta wrapper up,
- 28:02Speaker 1: my friend, but you know I want them to give
- 28:05Speaker 1: you my sale number, so we stay in touch. When
- 28:07Speaker 1: I come to Chicago, we go to Battis and Berries
- 28:09Speaker 1: and wrap a little bit. My friend. I appreciate you
- 28:12Speaker 1: coming on money making conversation and anytime you need Roshan McDonald,

- 29:27Speaker 1: She has grounded in the world a women empowerment and
- 29:29Speaker 1: giving back to others. From her early days in retail
- 29:32Speaker 1: to a current co founded global business venture. She has
- 29:35Speaker 1: always found a way to converge her fashioned experience with
- 29:38Speaker 1: the things that mean most at her heart. She has
- 29:41Speaker 1: the founder e n vs N Festival. This festival is
- 29:46Speaker 1: the true Embodiment Embodiment embodiment of her personal and professional reflection,
- 29:51Speaker 1: aimed to bring the next generation together to bring support systems,
- 29:55Speaker 1: female driven female driman networks and journal access to an
- 29:58Speaker 1: experience that will help she their futures. She's also the
- 30:01Speaker 1: founder of the Brooklyn intern and co owner of Liberty Fairs.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Please work with the money making conversations. Sharifa Murdoch, Are
- 30:14Speaker 1: you I thought that I thought that I thought I
- 30:16Speaker 1: lost you there, Miss Murdoch, How you doing? No? Was
- 30:22Speaker 1: that intro just too long for you? With? Just like
- 30:24Speaker 1: who am I talking about? That was actually dynamic? Thank
- 30:29Speaker 1: you very Muchoklyn Brooklyn native. I love. I've lived in
- 30:33Speaker 1: New York and Uh twice in my life. I've lived
- 30:36Speaker 1: in Manhattan eight six and first the first time I
- 30:40Speaker 1: moved in New York and the last time I was
- 30:42Speaker 1: up there doing the w b LS with Steve Harvey.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I would live in the two thousand and two thousand
- 30:47Speaker 1: and seven, I was living in thirty ninethan first. UH
- 30:50Speaker 1: enjoyed coming into Brooklyn. UH did a lot of books
- 30:53Speaker 1: signings in Brooklyn. What makes Brooklyn, New York so special?
- 30:58Speaker 1: It's just an unique play. I mean, it's one of
- 31:01Speaker 1: the best Burrows. I'm gonna say the best borrow actually
- 31:04Speaker 1: in New York. Um, I'm born and raised there. The
- 31:08Speaker 1: culture you see everything in Brooklyn from what you remember,
- 31:12Speaker 1: it is not even the same Brooklyn. I know it's
- 31:15Speaker 1: a different Brooklyn now. I know. I went up there.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Our friend of mine, he has a little mini donut shop,
- 31:20Speaker 1: and I went up there a little ball there right
- 31:23Speaker 1: down the street from Brooklyn Nets Place, and I'm James,
- 31:31Speaker 1: You're gonn get around now I'm money making conversations. Now
- 31:34Speaker 1: understand that now we're gonna meet each other, we're gonna
- 31:37Speaker 1: be juniors or some places. And just bump ahead is
- 31:40Speaker 1: a junior and share like a hamburger br now to
- 31:43Speaker 1: split the juniors up in Brooklyn. A good a good
- 31:47Speaker 1: piece of local juniors. Chief Sake would never let you down.
- 31:50Speaker 1: See that we do. So tell us about your brain
- 31:54Speaker 1: off the top, and we're gonna talk about your life
- 31:56Speaker 1: and uh, what makes you special? Because they come on
- 31:58Speaker 1: money making conversations. Your story is unique and it's about entrepreneurship.
- 32:03Speaker 1: But more importantly, your story is about empowerment, female empowerment.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Why is female empowerment so important today? I mean, I
- 32:12Speaker 1: definitely feel like there's so many different routes that you
- 32:15Speaker 1: could take as a female. Mean, growing up in Brooklyn,
- 32:17Speaker 1: I could have taken a different route, and I had
- 32:19Speaker 1: people around me that was encouraging me to do better.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And I feel like female empowerment is very, very important
- 32:26Speaker 1: because there's certain things that a male can teach you,
- 32:29Speaker 1: but there's more things that a female can teach you
- 32:31Speaker 1: because they're going through the same processes that you probably
- 32:33Speaker 1: went through. And I think it's so important for us
- 32:36Speaker 1: to kind of spread the word and like start working
- 32:39Speaker 1: together and noticing that it's no longer it's not this
- 32:42Speaker 1: date of a competition. We need to start collaborating more.
- 32:47Speaker 1: How do you how do you collaborate? How does that
- 32:48Speaker 1: make it happen? Because we know that, I mean in
- 32:51Speaker 1: my mind, and collaboration isn't just helping in any way. Like,
- 32:55Speaker 1: if you have a platform that you're able to give
- 32:58Speaker 1: back to, you need to get back and you need
- 33:01Speaker 1: to be able to help that other younger generation come up.
- 33:04Speaker 1: You know, I've been fortunate to be able to have
- 33:06Speaker 1: that guidance um as I was growing up and I
- 33:10Speaker 1: was able to give back to young women that wanted
- 33:13Speaker 1: to come up on the me Envision as the Envision Festival,
- 33:17Speaker 1: which is E E V s N Envision Festival October
- 33:21Speaker 1: through Industries Correct and Industry City. It's only on the
- 33:29Speaker 1: twenty It's only one day. Yeah, okay, cool, let's do
- 33:33Speaker 1: that straight October twenty and Industrustrating. Tell us what is
- 33:39Speaker 1: all encompasses so I can start getting people to buy
- 33:42Speaker 1: tickets amazing. So basically it encompasses women. It basically embodies
- 33:50Speaker 1: the young woman becoming a woman. UM. We have shopping
- 33:54Speaker 1: experiences in activation, so within whatever women like beauty, fashion,
- 33:59Speaker 1: UM and what on this, we have activations happening on
- 34:02Speaker 1: our show floor and then what's best that was hoping
- 34:05Speaker 1: as our lineup for our panels. We have panels discussions
- 34:08Speaker 1: starting from eleven to six pm and it's every hour
- 34:12Speaker 1: on the hour. It's like phenomenal. We're gonna be speaking
- 34:14Speaker 1: about what We're gonna be speaking about beauty, but it's
- 34:17Speaker 1: gonna be a flip to it. It's like, listen, we're
- 34:20Speaker 1: not talking about how fit we are. We're talking about
- 34:22Speaker 1: our mind, our state of mind, how we are able
- 34:25Speaker 1: to like meditate, how we're able to deal with depression,
- 34:29Speaker 1: how we're able to deal with those type of things.
- 34:31Speaker 1: We're speaking about fashion and it's like loving yourself in
- 34:34Speaker 1: your own skin. We're speaking about beauty where it's like
- 34:38Speaker 1: finding your shade, finding you're happy. We're we're speaking about
- 34:41Speaker 1: a lineup of things which are super excise sighted about.
- 34:44Speaker 1: We have a whole media UM panel discussion with women
- 34:48Speaker 1: like in media, which is so phenomenal. I like got
- 34:51Speaker 1: the youngest girl from the from On on Roll set.
- 34:56Speaker 1: She's phenomenal. So we have her getting into viewed by
- 34:59Speaker 1: a prince of out of Brownsville, which I think is
- 35:02Speaker 1: a great lineup. And then in the nighttime for young
- 35:04Speaker 1: girls to enjoy, we have an amazing music portion with
- 35:07Speaker 1: to Nash being the headliner. We have like Sweetie, we
- 35:11Speaker 1: have Malibumach. So it's a lineup that's like a day
- 35:14Speaker 1: of being a woman. You can come get your nails done,
- 35:16Speaker 1: you can come get your hair braided. It's gonna be
- 35:19Speaker 1: a whole day for girls and basically a generational event.
- 35:23Speaker 1: You know, you can bring your daughter, your ball, your
- 35:25Speaker 1: grandmother exactly, which I love, which I love the type
- 35:29Speaker 1: of events. Now, you know what, miss Murdock, this is
- 35:35Speaker 1: your show. I'm just trying to help promote and if
- 35:38Speaker 1: I'm over talking, I'm gonna stop and let you sell
- 35:40Speaker 1: your brand. Now. This is the Envision Festival, which is
- 35:43Speaker 1: an industry city October tween. Yeah, And what made me
- 35:49Speaker 1: really do it is I was going to all these
- 35:51Speaker 1: festivals for years and years, and with my background and
- 35:54Speaker 1: trade shows, I basically wanted I've always wanted to create
- 35:58Speaker 1: something for girls. I've had this past and for so long.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I started a nonprofit years ago called the Brooklyn intern
- 36:04Speaker 1: where I was able to help get girls. Um Interns
- 36:07Speaker 1: should be different companies in different industries. So it's basically
- 36:10Speaker 1: a mashup of that and what I've learned throughout the
- 36:13Speaker 1: years of doing trade shows, and uh, it's phenomenal just
- 36:16Speaker 1: to be able to give back to young girls growing
- 36:19Speaker 1: up in Brooklyn. I know what I could have became
- 36:21Speaker 1: if I didn't have the guidance. And I want other
- 36:23Speaker 1: young girls to understand, especially with the social media age,
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's so important for them to understand what's real and
- 36:30Speaker 1: what's fake. And I want them to understand how they
- 36:33Speaker 1: can be so dynamic if they're able to come together
- 36:35Speaker 1: at work together. We envision is environment right. I went
- 36:39Speaker 1: to your website which is Envisioned, which is E n
- 36:42Speaker 1: V S N Festival dot com, and I'm looking at
- 36:45Speaker 1: the very diverse image of the three young ladies that
- 36:48Speaker 1: you have on your page, and I think that's important
- 36:52Speaker 1: that you that you know the only thing about it
- 36:55Speaker 1: is that, uh, you know, just a corner where you
- 36:58Speaker 1: can we all get along? Can we all call appendicate
- 37:00Speaker 1: that we all communicate when I look at this picture,
- 37:02Speaker 1: that's what you're saying, Yes, exactly, It's about it's I
- 37:08Speaker 1: grew up knowing that it wasn't an African American thing,
- 37:12Speaker 1: it wasn't a um Caucasian thing. I grew up around
- 37:16Speaker 1: so many different cultures and good travel and my experiences.
- 37:21Speaker 1: This is what basically have led me to make it
- 37:23Speaker 1: a multicultural thing. And that's what it's exciting about Envision Now.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So you have a number of brand partners on here.
- 37:30Speaker 1: How does one become a brand partner? How does want
- 37:32Speaker 1: to become a sponsor a part of the Envisioned Festival?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Is just the first one? Or give you a little
- 37:38Speaker 1: history on the event. This is the first one, and
- 37:41Speaker 1: this is the first inaugural one. We're super It's so
- 37:44Speaker 1: funny because I started planning this six months ago and
- 37:47Speaker 1: with my background, people honestly jumped on being like you
- 37:50Speaker 1: know what, we know what you do. We're super excited
- 37:53Speaker 1: about it. So I have partners like Huts and Jeans.
- 37:56Speaker 1: They're bringing there one of their nonprofits that they are
- 37:59Speaker 1: afiliated with, Cold Get the Girls, and they're going to
- 38:02Speaker 1: come and say say a poetry to introduced in Vision,
- 38:05Speaker 1: to everyone. Um, I have Kappa clothing brand that basically
- 38:10Speaker 1: has been working with me for years. Um, I have
- 38:13Speaker 1: feel they're going to be doing a drop every hour
- 38:15Speaker 1: on the hour and giving one of the young ladies
- 38:18Speaker 1: whoever comes in their boots a free outfit to go
- 38:20Speaker 1: back to school with. Like it's so dynamic on what
- 38:25Speaker 1: is going to happen in this one day. I get
- 38:27Speaker 1: chills just talking about it. I got kind in there,
- 38:30Speaker 1: you know, I eat their Yeah, come on, love it
- 38:35Speaker 1: down the earth think eggs of course, you said, Kappa,
- 38:38Speaker 1: Hudson many brand sponsors, and then uh urban as Don Julio, Okay,
- 38:45Speaker 1: now late night for the older for the nighttime only.
- 38:52Speaker 1: You know. The thing about it is that, first of all,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I feel a good spirit in you from an entrepreneur
- 38:57Speaker 1: standpoint point. I had to bring you on the show
- 38:59Speaker 1: because of the fact that that you know, there's so
- 39:02Speaker 1: many lanes of success that people experience. And then what
- 39:06Speaker 1: yours is about being an entrepreneur but also giving back
- 39:09Speaker 1: an educating. Is that difficult to do? Um No, I
- 39:14Speaker 1: think it comes natural, to be honest with you, I
- 39:17Speaker 1: think you have to want to do it, and that's
- 39:19Speaker 1: something that I want to do. That's like my annual goal.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Like if I was to die to morrow, I can
- 39:24Speaker 1: know that I did all I can do in the
- 39:27Speaker 1: limited amount of time that I've had to be able
- 39:29Speaker 1: to give back to certain young ladies. And I always
- 39:31Speaker 1: believe that even if it's one or two, you've at
- 39:34Speaker 1: least shocked to do something, and that's all it takes
- 39:37Speaker 1: is to put some sort of effort into it. I
- 39:40Speaker 1: don't believe it's hard. I think it's if continue to
- 39:43Speaker 1: do and that has been my calling and you're calling
- 39:46Speaker 1: to exist through the whole thing. Now what the term is.
- 39:49Speaker 1: If this is gonna be year two, you're calling Rashawn
- 39:53Speaker 1: in October next year, go Rashawn because I can't come. Well,
- 39:57Speaker 1: you said, my daughter my wife down there to explain
- 40:00Speaker 1: hear and said, because we have a relationship now, miss Murdoch,
- 40:03Speaker 1: and having that relationship for means that you can. You can.
- 40:05Speaker 1: You can come on money making conversation. This shows about
- 40:08Speaker 1: promoting your brand and about being able to get the
- 40:11Speaker 1: word out about your bread in various different platforms. Also
- 40:14Speaker 1: the fact that please get me a social media banner
- 40:17Speaker 1: so I can post it on my social media. Some
- 40:20Speaker 1: of my I have a large following. I have a
- 40:22Speaker 1: large following in the New York market and so in
- 40:25Speaker 1: all the East Coast market, and I definitely you know.
- 40:28Speaker 1: The thing about it is that here's the deal. You
- 40:30Speaker 1: have a dream, and your dream is share able, which
- 40:33Speaker 1: I think is important for us to hear that. And
- 40:36Speaker 1: because a lot of people have a selfish dreams, so
- 40:37Speaker 1: they have dreams that this is only tied to their
- 40:40Speaker 1: personal success. Your dream is tied to success of many.
- 40:43Speaker 1: And it's also what I call like a handoff, a
- 40:46Speaker 1: handoff dream, which means that you can pay it forward
- 40:49Speaker 1: or you can reach out and pull somebody forward, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 1: up to what you're trying to accomplish. When all that
- 40:55Speaker 1: is said and done, what is your ultimate goal? What
- 40:58Speaker 1: do you gain from all this? What do you gain?
- 41:02Speaker 1: I don't gain anything. I gained the feeling of me
- 41:07Speaker 1: being able to empower young girls. What makes this successful
- 41:11Speaker 1: is the amount of people turning out. You know. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: want for us to know that they can come from
- 41:15Speaker 1: all over the world and feel like they can connect
- 41:17Speaker 1: with other young girls. I want them to feel like
- 41:20Speaker 1: they are empowered by the people that they here speak,
- 41:23Speaker 1: that they're able to touch and speak to real people,
- 41:26Speaker 1: that have been in the industry that have done what
- 41:28Speaker 1: they've done and find out how they can become whatever
- 41:31Speaker 1: they want to become. That's what makes it more powerful
- 41:34Speaker 1: for me. And that's what I gained. I gained the
- 41:36Speaker 1: energy of these people saying, oh my god, this day
- 41:40Speaker 1: was phenomenal. I can't wait till next year. Well, that's
- 41:42Speaker 1: what's gonna make me feel like this is success. Well,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I'm not wrapping this up. I just want to let
- 41:47Speaker 1: you know she's a true entrepreneur, has become a success
- 41:50Speaker 1: in the fashion world and also gives back to a
- 41:52Speaker 1: community via their philanthropic organizations. She founded the Brooklyn Intern,
- 41:57Speaker 1: an organization that works closely with high school students to
- 42:00Speaker 1: give them the opportunity to experience exclusive internship in the
- 42:04Speaker 1: fashion industry. They're sponsoring me needed Brooklyn Intern three girls
- 42:09Speaker 1: to attend the event from the Lower east Side Girls Club. Wow,
- 42:14Speaker 1: that's what you do. Yeah, and you lose no sleep
- 42:19Speaker 1: doing it? Need to do you not at all? Because
- 42:22Speaker 1: I know it's it's I'm excited about it. Well you know, well,
- 42:28Speaker 1: well you can't sleep on this. You know, you gotta
- 42:30Speaker 1: get Rashan McDonald some banners to put up on my
- 42:33Speaker 1: social media. We know the Envisioned Festival is coming up October.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It's a one day on the event. Go to envision
- 42:42Speaker 1: Festival dot com to learn more about it and more importantly,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I want you to keep winning, Okay. I want you
- 42:48Speaker 1: to understand that what you're doing and coming on Money
- 42:50Speaker 1: Making Conversation, it's special to me and also special to
- 42:53Speaker 1: my daughter because you're given her a lane to learn
- 42:56Speaker 1: about herself, even though she does not attend. It's all
- 42:59Speaker 1: paid for it. Money Making Conversation. We'll be back with
- 43:03Speaker 1: more and yes, what I'm not to a token. We'll
- 43:13Speaker 1: be right back with more from Marjohn McDonald and Moneymaking Conversation.

- 44:21Speaker 1: Sean McDonald have big time talent on my show. Now.
- 44:25Speaker 1: When I first started a big downtown and there was
- 44:26Speaker 1: a little low, yeah, I thought picking up speed and
- 44:29Speaker 1: people start finding out every time. Mcdowald. Now, I just
- 44:32Speaker 1: can't turn people away as I do it that days now,
- 44:36Speaker 1: but I would never turn away my next guest. He
- 44:38Speaker 1: is renowned actor best known for his role as neighbor
- 44:40Speaker 1: Chuck Larabee on the long running comedy Last Man Standing
- 44:45Speaker 1: opposite Tim Allen. Tim Allen, boy, I gotta talk about him.
- 44:48Speaker 1: The series is moving from ABC the Fox this falling
- 44:51Speaker 1: premiere to great ratings, which we will talk about He
- 44:54Speaker 1: began his acting career by studying theater at Carnegie Mellon University,
- 44:58Speaker 1: and went on to appear as Henry Walker on NBC's
- 45:01Speaker 1: American Dreams as Dr Daniel Goodman on Bones. He has
- 45:05Speaker 1: also made notable recurring appearances on Women's Murder Club, Revenge, Castle,

- 45:19Speaker 1: you just gonna just blow over that great voice? You know,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna we'll just scratch you trying to get by voice. Hey,
- 45:25Speaker 1: how you doing? How you doing there? I'm very good. Well,
- 45:30Speaker 1: first of all, thank you for coming on my show.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Thank you for being the an entrepreneur, a guy who
- 45:36Speaker 1: hasn't had a career and he's having a career. And
- 45:39Speaker 1: also congratulations on the amazingly high ratings for this series,
- 45:45Speaker 1: uh that you're starting on with Last Man Standing with
- 45:48Speaker 1: Tim Allen's I know right, I mean that was so good.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I mean, I just really really appreciate the fans of
- 45:54Speaker 1: the show. I'm just I'm just over the moon. It
- 45:57Speaker 1: was really good. That's why you know, you do something good,
- 46:01Speaker 1: something bad. It shocks you and then you get picked up.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Let me just tell you if everybody was happening with
- 46:06Speaker 1: Last Man standard uh. For six years it was on ABC. Okay,
- 46:09Speaker 1: it debated, It debated it seventh season on Fox Friday
- 46:13Speaker 1: Night Friday Night Now with Tim Allen. Let said, come
- 46:16Speaker 1: rocketing past this previous season high numbers on ABC. Okay,
- 46:20Speaker 1: ABC said, We're done with it, Last Man Standing, averaging
- 46:23Speaker 1: one point eight ratings and adults which is a key
- 46:25Speaker 1: demo eighteen to forty nine and eight million viewers and
- 46:29Speaker 1: at a p M by comparison, check this out. The
- 46:32Speaker 1: season six premiere on ABC drew a one point one
- 46:35Speaker 1: rating and six million viewers. By this season as a
- 46:38Speaker 1: whole on one point two rating and six point four
- 46:41Speaker 1: million viewers. In fact, the last time the series drew
- 46:44Speaker 1: over eight million viewers was back in season four, and
- 46:47Speaker 1: the last time I drew at one point eight rating
- 46:49Speaker 1: a better was in season two. It did both of
- 46:52Speaker 1: those this past Friday. Hallelujah. Come on now, I'm Johathan.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I know how to put the show together. Brother. I'm
- 46:59Speaker 1: not gonna bring you on this show and not have
- 47:02Speaker 1: my facts. I'm telling you because you talked to do
- 47:07Speaker 1: you talk to if you talk if you if you
- 47:09Speaker 1: talk me out, everybody gonna understand what you said about me? Right,
- 47:13Speaker 1: That's right, man, I'm saying those numbers numbers don't live, brother,
- 47:17Speaker 1: That's all I gotta say. And it was the most
- 47:18Speaker 1: watched comedy on any night and nearly seven years on
- 47:21Speaker 1: Fox NFL nights and was my father top rated comedy
- 47:26Speaker 1: show on a Friday night. Congratulations, congratul I'm really happy
- 47:31Speaker 1: to be a part of it. Well, you know, well,
- 47:33Speaker 1: how did you become a part of it. Let's let's
- 47:35Speaker 1: talk about you know I read earlier about how you
- 47:37Speaker 1: got started. Here's the deal about me. I got started
- 47:40Speaker 1: in stand up comedy. But my deals in mathematics. Okay,
- 47:43Speaker 1: but you this is something you wanted to do. Correct, dude,
- 47:47Speaker 1: you sound like someone after my own heart. I never
- 47:49Speaker 1: met you. You had your degree in mathematics. Math was
- 47:53Speaker 1: my favorite subject in school. I nearly nearly like was
- 47:58Speaker 1: a math major. Love Oculus was my favorite thing in
- 48:02Speaker 1: the world when I was in high school. Um loved it.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And uh, I just got into acting just you know,
- 48:09Speaker 1: through side sideways. And I got into this show kind
- 48:13Speaker 1: of sideways because I auditioned for a guest star in
- 48:19Speaker 1: season two, and uh that guest star, they kept asking
- 48:24Speaker 1: me back, and then they cast me back again in
- 48:27Speaker 1: season three, and then in season four they asked me
- 48:30Speaker 1: to be a regular on the show, which by the way,
- 48:34Speaker 1: was one of those seasons you mentioned with one of
- 48:35Speaker 1: the best ratings. So I'm just saying no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Nonimating conversation you start, Okay, I don't care about my
- 48:42Speaker 1: boy Tim Allen. Who who I know Tim Allen because
- 48:46Speaker 1: when I was doing all this bunch line, he was
- 48:48Speaker 1: the headliner. That's what I met Tim Allen way back then.
- 48:51Speaker 1: And we performed the worst week that you could perform
- 48:54Speaker 1: in New Orleans to do stand up comedy, Martin, We're
- 48:56Speaker 1: a week. Oh wow, Why is that the worst week?
- 48:59Speaker 1: Because nobody there? They there, and they're in the streets
- 49:01Speaker 1: getting drunk. There in the streets. Part you do not
- 49:05Speaker 1: pay that. Here's somebody tell jokes when you can hear
- 49:07Speaker 1: those same jokes free in the streets. Okay, So timmy,
- 49:12Speaker 1: I go way back, and I and and I know
- 49:14Speaker 1: his career. I followed his career, and I feel feel
- 49:17Speaker 1: that he gave me excellent advice about being myself. So
- 49:20Speaker 1: let me ask you this. Do you have an agent? Yes?
- 49:23Speaker 1: I do, Yeah, I do have an agent. I have
- 49:24Speaker 1: a voiceover agent, uh and in my voiceover in commercial
- 49:28Speaker 1: agent and I have a manager for theatrical and everything else. Okay,
- 49:32Speaker 1: So just going through the sick with the track about
- 49:35Speaker 1: it being varsover because like I said, it always gets
- 49:37Speaker 1: asked to me. And you know, I'm a guy who
- 49:40Speaker 1: has produced talent voiceover. I don't know where to sen
- 49:44Speaker 1: you what like you you get some perlimited test that
- 49:47Speaker 1: first of all, is that gonna happen overnight? And like
- 49:49Speaker 1: you said, look at the quality of listen to the
- 49:52Speaker 1: quality of my force. It wasn't like I just walked
- 49:54Speaker 1: to the room and just they signed me up. It's
- 49:57Speaker 1: tied to relationships and also position yourself. People can recommend
- 50:01Speaker 1: you yes exactly, you got it exactly right. And so
- 50:05Speaker 1: that's that's that's what you gotta do. And you can't
- 50:07Speaker 1: and and it's very frustrating. It is. It's a frustrating business.
- 50:14Speaker 1: You spend a lot of time going, oh man, I'm
- 50:16Speaker 1: just this is never gonna wear or are you sent
- 50:19Speaker 1: me out on that? I don't know, And I have
- 50:23Speaker 1: a um I have a booth in my house now
- 50:28Speaker 1: basically where i'd not I don't work from it, but
- 50:31Speaker 1: I do have I do all my auditions from that booth.
- 50:37Speaker 1: So uh, it's someone I'll get a script from my
- 50:40Speaker 1: agent and I'll i'll you know, read it to my
- 50:45Speaker 1: do it on, do it in the booth in my house,
- 50:48Speaker 1: and then send it out to the MP three to
- 50:50Speaker 1: my back to my agent and they take it, they
- 50:53Speaker 1: send it to the clients. Because it's a very serious
- 50:56Speaker 1: question here, because you know I'm connected as you know
- 51:00Speaker 1: ric and so how would I want in our opportunities
- 51:05Speaker 1: for some of military type commercial promotions around the country.
- 51:09Speaker 1: How would I get you to not only just maybe
- 51:13Speaker 1: not even just audition, but just recopy so I can
- 51:16Speaker 1: present it to them. Um, you would call my agent,
- 51:20Speaker 1: but you or you could even start with my publicist,
- 51:23Speaker 1: which which you guys having get in touch with you. You
- 51:27Speaker 1: You know, this is what we're gonna do today. You'll
- 51:29Speaker 1: be hearing from Rashan McDonald today. Just this. I works
- 51:34Speaker 1: on money main conversation. So you call for an interview,
- 51:36Speaker 1: You're you're about to hear the change change in your
- 51:39Speaker 1: life now because of Rashan McDonald. But but but like
- 51:43Speaker 1: I said, you know the thing about it. But that's
- 51:44Speaker 1: how opportunities come your way. That's what I'm saying. And
- 51:47Speaker 1: that's what people need to understand. It's not ever plan,
- 51:50Speaker 1: it's never, it's never, but you gotta be ready. Like
- 51:53Speaker 1: you said, you have a booth in your house, that's
- 51:55Speaker 1: what Maybe I heard that. That means that you're making
- 51:58Speaker 1: the job out of this. So if you if you
- 52:01Speaker 1: didn't say that, then I don't I don't go to
- 52:03Speaker 1: this next conversation. But hey, if I send you some copy,
- 52:07Speaker 1: can you cut something for me so we can I
- 52:09Speaker 1: can let some people here and recommend you for this.
- 52:12Speaker 1: So what what what presented that idea? What? What made
- 52:15Speaker 1: you invest in yourself like that to put a booth
- 52:17Speaker 1: in they call it loop and you can look things
- 52:19Speaker 1: in your house sound proof room. Talk about that, let
- 52:23Speaker 1: people here. How you have to invest in your career
- 52:26Speaker 1: for opportunities that you may they even see coming right
- 52:30Speaker 1: right right? Well, you know you said it exactly correctly.
- 52:37Speaker 1: You know you have to you present yourself, You put
- 52:41Speaker 1: yourself out there for opportunities. You're not you're not sure
- 52:43Speaker 1: you're gonna happen. But I had actually been working as
- 52:47Speaker 1: a voice over actor. A great deal and my my
- 52:52Speaker 1: I moved out to I moved like out of town
- 52:56Speaker 1: a little bit, Like I'm five minutes from downtown where
- 52:59Speaker 1: I live right now, and so it gets really hard
- 53:02Speaker 1: to get to my agent's office. And I thought, you
- 53:05Speaker 1: know what, since I moved out here, I need to
- 53:08Speaker 1: have the ability to to send stuff in via MP
- 53:11Speaker 1: three and not have to to slep all the way
- 53:14Speaker 1: down to UH down to Hollywood to um to get
- 53:17Speaker 1: my to get my auditions in and just you know,
- 53:22Speaker 1: they send me stuff and it and it works. And
- 53:25Speaker 1: but you do have to invest in a good microphone
- 53:27Speaker 1: and a good set up in some places where and
- 53:29Speaker 1: find a place that's quiet in your house and make
- 53:32Speaker 1: sure that that place stays quiet and then sound proven.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Blah blah blah blah blah blah, bah bah blah blah blah.
- 53:37Speaker 1: So yeah, it became a necessity for me because of her,
- 53:42Speaker 1: first of all, because my location, but also it's a
- 53:46Speaker 1: business move. But before we go, I want to talk
- 53:48Speaker 1: about a balance life. Your native of Pittsburgh, happy there,
- 53:52Speaker 1: and you have two beautiful daughters. How have you been
- 53:54Speaker 1: able to balance all that over the years? You know,
- 53:56Speaker 1: because like I said, there have been peaks and valleys,
- 53:58Speaker 1: and there's a lot of uncertainty and you still have
- 54:02Speaker 1: you're happily married and you have two beautiful daughters. How
- 54:04Speaker 1: have you been able to balance that. I've been married
- 54:06Speaker 1: for twenty five years and uh, you know, yeah, I Uh,
- 54:14Speaker 1: I was gonna say blame, but I really, you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: like my wife is the one who really helps me
- 54:20Speaker 1: out there. She'll she'll you know, she'll get me there,
- 54:23Speaker 1: She'll get me going, She'll get me understanding that we
- 54:27Speaker 1: know we need to take a vacation and we need
- 54:28Speaker 1: to do this, and we need to do that. And
- 54:30Speaker 1: you know, I just say yes, dear, because she's almost right.
- 54:36Speaker 1: So you know, it's uh, it's I you know, it's
- 54:41Speaker 1: all about her, and I really try and keep that,
- 54:44Speaker 1: keep that relationship going. You know, twenty five years is
- 54:47Speaker 1: a long time, especially in Hollywood. That's like that's like
- 54:49Speaker 1: seventy five years after the world. You know, I want
- 54:54Speaker 1: to say, I want to follow up on that because Hollywood,
- 54:57Speaker 1: unlike any other business, is driven on fear because you know,
- 55:01Speaker 1: you just never know when you might miss. It kind
- 55:04Speaker 1: of holds you hostage because you leave town, you you
- 55:07Speaker 1: feel you might miss an audition, you know, relationship or
- 55:10Speaker 1: being somewhere, so you always on that little rabbit, that
- 55:12Speaker 1: little rabbit trail, that a little rabbit trail for opportunities
- 55:15Speaker 1: and leading that back. And I did that. I'm willing
- 55:18Speaker 1: to tell anybody I did that far too long, but
- 55:21Speaker 1: a lot of success came out way, don't get me wrong.
- 55:23Speaker 1: But I also know that I could have done it differently.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I could. I could have done it different I could
- 55:28Speaker 1: have slowed down. I could have I could have believed
- 55:30Speaker 1: in myself a lot more, in the in the in
- 55:32Speaker 1: the places that put in place a lot more. And
- 55:35Speaker 1: I congratulate you, my friend. Uh. I hope that you
- 55:38Speaker 1: will be hearing from my own my representatives about that.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I was very sincere about that audition opportunity because I
