Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome. It is Verdict with Center Ted Cruz. This is
- 0:03Speaker 1: obviously one of those shows that neither of us wanted
- 0:06Speaker 1: to do, but it's an important one to get you
- 0:08Speaker 1: information about what has happened and this horrific terrorist attack
- 0:13Speaker 1: in New Orleans and also what looks to be some
- 0:16Speaker 1: sort of attack in Las Vegas outside of the Trump
- 0:19Speaker 1: Hotel there. Senator, this has a connection obviously to Texas.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Many of us were celebrating New Year's Eve. You were
- 0:28Speaker 1: down at mar A Lago. I was with my family
- 0:30Speaker 1: at the beach, and then we see and wake up
- 0:33Speaker 1: to this news breaking. And I want to timestamp this
- 0:35Speaker 1: for people to understand when we're recording this. We're recording
- 0:38Speaker 1: this at nine thirty Eastern time on Wednesday, so much
- 0:42Speaker 1: of this may change, So I just want you to
- 0:44Speaker 1: know when we started this, but I want to get
- 0:46Speaker 1: your initial reaction to what we've witnessed.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Well, we're less than twenty four hours out from the
- 0:52Speaker 2: United States once again saying a significant terrorist attack on
- 0:56Speaker 2: US soil. At three point fifteen and morning New Year's Day,
- 1:03Speaker 2: forty two year old sham sad Din Bahar Jabbar, who
- 1:08Speaker 2: is a US citizen a Texas resident, he drove a
- 1:12Speaker 2: white pickup truck into people celebrating on Bourbon Street. Jabbar
- 1:17Speaker 2: was born in Beaumont, Texas. He resides in Houston, your
- 1:20Speaker 2: hometown and my hometown, and he was an Army veteran.
- 1:26Speaker 2: As we talked today, fifteen people have been killed and
- 1:33Speaker 2: several dozen more have been injured. And I will say,
- 1:38Speaker 2: as is the nature of any fast breaking crisis and
- 1:40Speaker 2: fast breaking news story, the news that is available is
- 1:45Speaker 2: rapidly moving. It is changing. So we're going to talk
- 1:49Speaker 2: about what's happening, what we know now, but with the
- 1:51Speaker 2: caveat that, we can fully expect the information we know
- 1:55Speaker 2: on this to change and very possibly changed significantly in
- 2:00Speaker 2: days and weeks to come. We're less than twenty four
- 2:02Speaker 2: hours out from this attack, but what we know now
- 2:05Speaker 2: is deeply, deeply disturbing. It has been reported that this
- 2:11Speaker 2: Army veteran drove the pickup truck deliberately into a crowd
- 2:15Speaker 2: of revelers with the intent of killing and harming as
- 2:20Speaker 2: many people as possible. It's also been reported that the
- 2:24Speaker 2: pickup truck was flying an ISIS flag and that Jabbar
- 2:31Speaker 2: was inspired by ISIS. Simultaneously, we have a Tesla cyber
- 2:38Speaker 2: truck that exploded in front of the Trump Hotel in
- 2:42Speaker 2: Las Vegas, killing one injuring several. The one who was
- 2:47Speaker 2: killed was the driver. It is not confirmed that those
- 2:50Speaker 2: two are linked, but both occurred early in the morning
- 2:55Speaker 2: on New Year's Day, and America is now dealing with
- 2:58Speaker 2: the aftermath of one or potentially two terrorist attacks, finding
- 3:04Speaker 2: out who's responsible, finding out if additional actors were responsible.
- 3:09Speaker 2: There have been multiple reports of additional individuals potentially placing
- 3:15Speaker 2: IEDs and at this point, the entire country is reeling
- 3:19Speaker 2: from this attack.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It is really sad. And this goes back to the
- 3:25Speaker 1: bigger concern that we've worried about on this show and
- 3:29Speaker 1: talked about, and it's something that I think so many
- 3:32Speaker 1: Americans felt. You had a wide open southern border. You
- 3:36Speaker 1: had a lot of people that have been able to
- 3:39Speaker 1: come across the southern border that were caught that were
- 3:41Speaker 1: on the terrorists watch list. You have law enforcement that,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I think it's pretty fair to say, is stretched extremely
- 3:47Speaker 1: thin when you're having to deal with a wide open
- 3:49Speaker 1: southern border and what is coming across that southern border,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and this individual being an American citizen and being a Texan,
- 3:59Speaker 1: as you described, But the real problem can be that
- 4:02Speaker 1: we are stretched so thin with so many possibilities out there,
- 4:06Speaker 1: that this is one of those examples of when we've
- 4:09Speaker 1: had this open door policy. Law enforcement is doing the
- 4:13Speaker 1: maybe in many cases, the best they can, and they
- 4:16Speaker 1: just don't have the time or the resources they need
- 4:18Speaker 1: to focus in on these types of threats.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Well, that is tragically correct, and on this podcast we
- 4:25Speaker 2: have been predicting for months now that the odds of
- 4:30Speaker 2: a major terrorist attack in the United States were higher
- 4:34Speaker 2: than they have been at any time since September eleventh,
- 4:37Speaker 2: and unfortunately, this morning's tragic events confirms that now in
- 4:42Speaker 2: this instance, the facts are still coming out. What we
- 4:46Speaker 2: know about Jabbar according to the Army Liaison's Office and
- 4:49Speaker 2: what he has told what they have released. He served
- 4:52Speaker 2: in the Army from two thousand and six to twenty twenty,
- 4:57Speaker 2: including approximately nine years of active duty service. He held
- 5:01Speaker 2: specialties in HR and IT. He was born in Beaumont, Texas.
- 5:10Speaker 2: He deployed in Afghanistan from two thousand and nine to
- 5:13Speaker 2: twenty ten. He was in the Army Reserve from twenty
- 5:18Speaker 2: fifteen to twenty twenty, and he was discharged in twenty
- 5:21Speaker 2: twenty with an honorable discharge for unsatisfactory participation. That much
- 5:27Speaker 2: we know. We also know that in his truck were
- 5:34Speaker 2: found explosive devices. Explosive devices including two pipe bombs that
- 5:42Speaker 2: were concealed within coolers and wired for remote detonation. That's
- 5:46Speaker 2: according to the Louisiana State Police and the pickup truck.
- 5:55Speaker 2: The pickup truck its origin, there has been conflicting reporting
- 6:00Speaker 2: it so earlier today it was reported that the truck
- 6:07Speaker 2: used in the New Orleans attack came through the Southern border,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and The Daily Wire reported that Early today, Fox News
- 6:15Speaker 2: reported that the truck entered the US two days ago,
- 6:18Speaker 2: but they then updated their story to report that the
- 6:22Speaker 2: truck crossed the southern border on November sixteenth. So November sixteenth,
- 6:28Speaker 2: a month and a half ago, apparently the truck crossed
- 6:30Speaker 2: the southern border. It has also now been reported that
- 6:35Speaker 2: the truck in New Orleans was rented using the Touro app.
- 6:39Speaker 2: The tourou app is a peer to peer app, and
- 6:42Speaker 2: one of the strange details that has been reported is
- 6:46Speaker 2: that both the truck in New Orleans and the cyber
- 6:50Speaker 2: truck in Los Angeles, in Las Vegas rather were both
- 6:54Speaker 2: rented using the tourou app. That may simply be a coincidence,
- 6:59Speaker 2: it may be something more. But what has been reported.
- 7:03Speaker 2: The New York Times is reporting that both were rented
- 7:08Speaker 2: using Toro. Toro itself put out a statement that said
- 7:12Speaker 2: that it was quote actively partnering with law enforcement authorities
- 7:16Speaker 2: as they investigate both incidents. They also said, quote we
- 7:20Speaker 2: do not believe that either rent or involved in the
- 7:22Speaker 2: Las Vegas or New Orleans attacks had a criminal background
- 7:25Speaker 2: that would have identified them as a security threat threat.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's not clear as we sit here today the full
- 7:33Speaker 2: details of that, but those are the breaking details as
- 7:38Speaker 2: of nine to forty one pm.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I want to go back to a headline real quick,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and then I also want to play for everybody what
- 7:44Speaker 1: Joe Biden said. But this was a headline that you
- 7:47Speaker 1: and I talked about and warned about, and it was
- 7:50Speaker 1: from the New York Posts October the twenty third of
- 7:54Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, and it said border agents caught three
- 7:58Speaker 1: hundred migrants heirist ties, including ISIS, and it's still incredibly
- 8:04Speaker 1: easy for them to enter the US. This report came
- 8:09Speaker 1: out October the twenty third, so we're talking a couple
- 8:13Speaker 1: of months ago, and you and I, and that's when
- 8:16Speaker 1: you really talked about you felt like there was a
- 8:20Speaker 1: real chance that something like this could happen because of
- 8:24Speaker 1: the of the of the idea that we have so
- 8:27Speaker 1: many resources fred all over the place. When you look
- 8:31Speaker 1: ahead to January twentieth and Donald Trump coming in, does
- 8:34Speaker 1: this now clearly become a top priority on the issue
- 8:37Speaker 1: of border security because it's a national security issue very much,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and getting back to doing the way that we used
- 8:43Speaker 1: to deal with whether it was domestic or homegrown or
- 8:46Speaker 1: foreign terrorism.
- 8:48Speaker 2: One of the things that is maddening is even to
- 8:51Speaker 2: this day, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and the Democrats
- 8:54Speaker 2: refused to secure the border. Just a few weeks ago,
- 8:57Speaker 2: the Democrats held a hearing in the Senate You Shary
- 9:00Speaker 2: Committee on the horrors of mass deportations, not on the
- 9:04Speaker 2: need to secure the border, but on how terrible it
- 9:07Speaker 2: was that Trump is going to enforce the law. The
- 9:11Speaker 2: border will be secured. We are three weeks away from
- 9:15Speaker 2: an administration coming in that is going to be I believe,
- 9:19Speaker 2: absolutely serious and incredibly effective securing the border. But every
- 9:24Speaker 2: day that border is open, Americans are at greater risk,
- 9:28Speaker 2: and we're at risk number one from terrorists crossing the
- 9:31Speaker 2: southern border. But number two, we're at risk from law enforcement,
- 9:36Speaker 2: the FBI, the federal government focusing on every other policy
- 9:41Speaker 2: and agenda item other than keeping the American people safe.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You know, I have to say one of the things
- 9:47Speaker 2: that was dismaying is the FBI. Right after this happened
- 9:51Speaker 2: in New Orleans, they went out and publicly said this
- 9:54Speaker 2: was not a terrorist attack. The New Orleans police disagreed
- 9:57Speaker 2: with that statement. The FBI has since gone on to
- 10:01Speaker 2: say they are investigating it as terrorism. But I got
- 10:04Speaker 2: to say, when a truck drives into a crowd waving
- 10:06Speaker 2: an ISIS flag, I don't know what the hell you
- 10:08Speaker 2: call it other than terrorism.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah, And that I think is one of the things
- 10:13Speaker 1: that's so frustrating, and that moves us also to what
- 10:15Speaker 1: we witnessed today with the closed circuit TV footage of
- 10:19Speaker 1: this cyber truck that exploded in front of Trump Tower,
- 10:22Speaker 1: killing that driver. We're now being told by authorities there
- 10:26Speaker 1: that they said the driver the electric vehicle parked in
- 10:29Speaker 1: the valley area outside the hotel's lobby before it exploded
- 10:33Speaker 1: into flames. We've gotten a tweet from Elon Musk saying
- 10:38Speaker 1: that this was not in fact the batteries or a
- 10:41Speaker 1: malfunction of the car that so many immediately wanted to blame.
- 10:45Speaker 1: This was a Tesla accident that just happened to happen
- 10:47Speaker 1: on the same day as this other attack at the
- 10:49Speaker 1: Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. They've now said definitively in
- 10:53Speaker 1: law enforcement, this was not any type of battery issue
- 10:56Speaker 1: or a malfunction. This was clearly done deliberately, and thank goodness,
- 11:01Speaker 1: no one besides that driver, from what we understand, died.
- 11:04Speaker 1: There were seven that were injured there, and this is
- 11:06Speaker 1: now being treated apparently as a other terrorist activity attack
- 11:12Speaker 1: in Las Vegas as well.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Well, that's right, and the details there that there's one
- 11:19Speaker 2: fatality from the Las Vegas explosion, and that was the
- 11:21Speaker 2: driver himself. The driver in New Orleans is also dead
- 11:26Speaker 2: from a shootout with the police. As soon as it happened,
- 11:30Speaker 2: the mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, publicly described as
- 11:34Speaker 2: a terrorist attack. The police chief stated the driver's actions
- 11:37Speaker 2: were intentional. This was not a dui situation. According to
- 11:41Speaker 2: the chief, the driver was quote hell bent on creating carnage.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And yet, as I mentioned, the FBI spokesperson countered the
- 11:48Speaker 2: Merit mayors claim moments later stating it was quote not
- 11:53Speaker 2: a terrorist event. Here, give a.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Listen, this is not a terrorist event. What it is
- 11:58Speaker 3: right now is there improve explosive devices that was found
- 12:03Speaker 3: and we are working on confirming if this is a
- 12:05Speaker 3: viable device or not. As Chief Kirkpatrick said, we're asking
- 12:09Speaker 3: everyone to stay away from Bourbon Street, specifically from Canal
- 12:13Speaker 3: Street to Saint Anne. That is my ask once again,
- 12:17Speaker 3: stay away from Bourbon Street, Canal Street all the way
- 12:21Speaker 3: to Saint Anne until we can figure out what is
- 12:24Speaker 3: going on. Our goal is provide to additional information at
- 12:27Speaker 3: the eleven am press conference. Thank you so much, and
- 12:32Speaker 3: we will be in touch.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Yes, I will say that we want our community and
- 12:37Speaker 4: our visitors to continue and join. There's so much to
- 12:40Speaker 4: enjoy about New Orleans and we are going to make
- 12:45Speaker 4: sure that our routes and the Superdome are safe today
- 12:49Speaker 4: for the game. And yet we had this tragic event
- 12:54Speaker 4: and we're sorry again to everyone in our community, but
- 12:58Speaker 4: we do want you to gout the day. As we say,
- 13:02Speaker 4: just stay away from.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Bourbon There's two parts of that center that I think
- 13:07Speaker 1: are the most frustrating for many people that are listening.
- 13:10Speaker 1: One the out of touch with reality and you want
- 13:14Speaker 1: to have faith in law enforcement, but to come out
- 13:18Speaker 1: in such a hardcore way, so this is not a
- 13:20Speaker 1: terrorist attack, not being treated like a terisa and people
- 13:22Speaker 1: are like, what's wrong with you? And the part that
- 13:26Speaker 1: also went viral after that was a tweet that came
- 13:30Speaker 1: out from the FBI New Orleans and it was them
- 13:33Speaker 1: having holding this summer a diversity agent recruitment event and
- 13:38Speaker 1: we want to meet you. This was DEI on full display.
- 13:41Speaker 1: We went diversity, inequity inclusion. And people say this statement
- 13:46Speaker 1: and then that tweet and they say, what is happening
- 13:49Speaker 1: at the FBI.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Well, the FBI has in far too many instances not
- 13:55Speaker 2: kept their eye on the ball. And that is one
- 13:57Speaker 2: of the reasons that Donald Trump is coming into office
- 14:01Speaker 2: with an agenda of fundamentally reforming the Department of Justice
- 14:06Speaker 2: and the FBI getting it back focused on its core mission,
- 14:10Speaker 2: ending the weaponization, ending the politicization, and its core mission
- 14:14Speaker 2: includes preventing acts of terrorism. Now, in this instance, the
- 14:19Speaker 2: terrorist in New Orleans was an American citizen, so he
- 14:23Speaker 2: did not cross the border illegally, although apparently has truck
- 14:26Speaker 2: did the truck he used across the border six six
- 14:30Speaker 2: weeks ago. However, we don't know the story of how
- 14:35Speaker 2: he was radicalized. Someone who was an army veteran who
- 14:37Speaker 2: served for many years, who became a self described proponent
- 14:42Speaker 2: of isis. That is something gone profoundly wrong, and it
- 14:47Speaker 2: reminds me of Nadal Hassan. Nadal Hassan, you'll recall, who
- 14:52Speaker 2: murdered fourteen innocent souls at Fort Hood. He was active
- 14:56Speaker 2: duty military and he became radicalized, and during the Obama
- 15:00Speaker 2: iministration that they knew that he was communicating with the
- 15:04Speaker 2: radical Islamic cleric and War Alilaki and asking about the
- 15:09Speaker 2: permissibility of waging jahad on his fellow soldiers, and infuriatingly enough,
- 15:15Speaker 2: the Obama Pentagon they had those communications with Anwar Alilaki,
- 15:20Speaker 2: and they did nothing to stop Nadal Hassan from from
- 15:27Speaker 2: committing that mass murder. That they sat on that information,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and we don't know if there's any of that. We
- 15:34Speaker 2: have no indication that there's any of that information now.
- 15:37Speaker 2: But I will say we're dealing with another individual who
- 15:40Speaker 2: is a soldier who apparently became radicalized, and I think
- 15:46Speaker 2: there's a real need for transparency to figure out what happened.
- 15:49Speaker 2: And I want to play my colleague John Kennedy, Senator
- 15:53Speaker 2: John Kennedy, a good friend of mine. He's down in
- 15:55Speaker 2: New Orleans now. I want to play what he had
- 15:57Speaker 2: to say because I very much agree with with with
- 15:59Speaker 2: what he brest on the ground today.
- 16:01Speaker 5: I don't want to hear from anybody in the federal
- 16:03Speaker 5: government that they don't have the resources. Now the White House,
- 16:07Speaker 5: the FBI, Justice, Homeland Security are in charge. Now, we're
- 16:13Speaker 5: cooperating with them. I want to give them a reasonable
- 16:15Speaker 5: period of time. There's a lot of information out there,
- 16:18Speaker 5: some of it is actually true. I want to give
- 16:20Speaker 5: them a reasonable period of time, but they need to
- 16:23Speaker 5: saddle up and ride. We need to find out what
- 16:26Speaker 5: happened here, and it's not going to be covered up.
- 16:29Speaker 5: We're going to tell the American people exactly what happened.
- 16:33Speaker 5: I'm not interested in placing blame or saying who is
- 16:37Speaker 5: right or wrong. I just want to catch these sons
- 16:40Speaker 5: of bitches who did this.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Centater, I think that the sentiment that many are feeling
- 16:46Speaker 1: is exactly the way it was described by your colleague
- 16:48Speaker 1: there that the Center from Louisiana.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Well Kennedy's absolutely right. And look, the priority Number one
- 16:56Speaker 2: needs to be keeping people safe. Number two needs to
- 16:59Speaker 2: be catching anyone else involved in this. Where there other conspirators?
- 17:04Speaker 2: Was this a broader plot? Number three needs to be transparency,
- 17:08Speaker 2: figuring out how did this come to pass? Why was
- 17:10Speaker 2: this not prevented? Why did nobody sound the alarm that
- 17:14Speaker 2: this guy was dangerous, That this guy was affiliating with
- 17:18Speaker 2: isis that this guy was looking to commit murder? All
- 17:21Speaker 2: of those are questions that come out. And I said,
- 17:23Speaker 2: number one, though, is keeping people safe. You know, one
- 17:26Speaker 2: of the frustrating things about this attack in New Orleans
- 17:29Speaker 2: is that there were steel barricades on Bourbon Street that
- 17:33Speaker 2: were installed in twenty seventeen, and they were installed to
- 17:37Speaker 2: prevent terrorist attacks in the area. And had the barricades
- 17:42Speaker 2: been up, they clearly would have minimized the carnage this morning. Unfortunately,
- 17:49Speaker 2: the barricades were down. The police chief said the barricades
- 17:52Speaker 2: were in the process of being replaced, and I will
- 17:56Speaker 2: say that is tragic. And look, got we've got bowl games.
- 18:00Speaker 2: They delayed the Sugar Bowl for a day, but we've
- 18:02Speaker 2: got football games across the country. We've got all sorts
- 18:05Speaker 2: of events across the country. We've got the inauguration on
- 18:08Speaker 2: January twentieth, and one of the very important front and
- 18:12Speaker 2: center needs to be keeping people safe and preventing another
- 18:15Speaker 2: terrorist attack. Just because one happened doesn't mean we're not
- 18:19Speaker 2: at risk of another one happening. And that's why we
- 18:22Speaker 2: need to be vigilant number one keeping people safe, but
- 18:25Speaker 2: number two tracking down everyone involved in these horrible atrocities
- 18:30Speaker 2: and then having full, full transparency and doing everything we
- 18:34Speaker 2: can to remove and to apprehend potential ISIS terrorists before
- 18:41Speaker 2: they take more lives.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Can we just talk for a moment about incompetency here,
- 18:48Speaker 1: because that's what everybody is thinking that I think is
- 18:50Speaker 1: listening right now the majority are I certainly am. And
- 18:53Speaker 1: when I talk about in commency, you just mentioned it.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It is New Year's Eve, Center, and this is when
- 18:58Speaker 1: I get angry. It's New Year's Eve. You have a
- 19:01Speaker 1: Sugar Bowl game that you've known about for a long
- 19:03Speaker 1: time and New Year's Eve, and you don't have the
- 19:07Speaker 1: barriers up that you know you need to keep people safe.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Because you say that you're getting them ready for the
- 19:14Speaker 1: super Bowl. Why wouldn't you have them ready for New
- 19:17Speaker 1: Year's Eve until the Super Bowl. Why is it that
- 19:20Speaker 1: it seems like every time we give government the funding
- 19:23Speaker 1: to do things like this and to protect people, there's
- 19:27Speaker 1: some excuse. And I go back to in competency on
- 19:30Speaker 1: what we talked about just a few days ago. You
- 19:33Speaker 1: look at the Biden administration and the plea deal they
- 19:37Speaker 1: gave the mastermind of nine to eleven, Khalide Chek Muhammad.
- 19:41Speaker 1: What message does that sind to tear us around the
- 19:44Speaker 1: world that we will spare your life, we will not
- 19:47Speaker 1: take your life even if you're the master a mind
- 19:49Speaker 1: nine to eleven. You combine these types of things, and
- 19:51Speaker 1: I think there's many Americans right now, and I say
- 19:54Speaker 1: this with frustration on behalf of many Americans that feel
- 19:57Speaker 1: like they are not being protected by this administration the
- 20:02Speaker 1: way they should be and were sending the wrong signals
- 20:05Speaker 1: to the terrorists.
- 20:05Speaker 2: At the same time, Well, we've had four years of
- 20:09Speaker 2: an open door, red carpet invitation for terrorists to come
- 20:12Speaker 2: across our southern border that has made us much much
- 20:15Speaker 2: less safe. We have also had law enforcement, including the FBI,
- 20:19Speaker 2: focused on political and partisan agendas instead of focusing on
- 20:24Speaker 2: the bad guys, stopping the bad guys before they commit
- 20:27Speaker 2: crimes like this. We will find out what information there
- 20:32Speaker 2: was that could have been used to prevent this attack.
- 20:34Speaker 2: We need to find that out. And even if the
- 20:36Speaker 2: Biden administration refuses to make it public and to be transparent,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I have significant confidence that the incoming Trump administration will
- 20:46Speaker 2: make that information public. And I got to say, look
- 20:49Speaker 2: for everyone who lost, for the fifteen people murdered this morning,
- 20:53Speaker 2: for the families of them, for the three dozen people
- 20:57Speaker 2: who were wounded, some very grievously wounded. I am sure
- 21:01Speaker 2: they are feeling a level of frustration and anger. They're
- 21:04Speaker 2: filling frustration with the city. Why weren't those barricades up.
- 21:07Speaker 2: The barricades should have been up. They were put in
- 21:10Speaker 2: in twenty seventeen. This risk was known New Year's Eve.
- 21:16Speaker 2: It's not like that's a surprising time for someone seeking
- 21:19Speaker 2: to do something horrible to target people. The eve of
- 21:23Speaker 2: the Sugar Bowl that was another name.
- 21:24Speaker 1: There's a great example of that.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen, one of the real dangers of terrorism.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You can have a big elaborate plot of a dirty
- 21:34Speaker 2: bomb or attacking a nuclear reactor or something, but some
- 21:38Speaker 2: of the most frightening terrorism and Sadly, some of the
- 21:42Speaker 2: most effective terrorism is very low tech. It is driving
- 21:46Speaker 2: a truck into a crowd. It is walking into a
- 21:49Speaker 2: shopping mall wearing a suicide vest. It is you know,
- 21:53Speaker 2: I was living in DC twenty some odd years ago
- 21:56Speaker 2: when the DC sniper was there, and that was two
- 21:59Speaker 2: guys who drilled a hole in the trunk of their
- 22:02Speaker 2: car and drove around DC parked and sat there with
- 22:04Speaker 2: a rifle and just shot people. And I'll tell you,
- 22:06Speaker 2: the entire city was terrified, was on edge, and there
- 22:11Speaker 2: was no no high tech involved in it. And and
- 22:14Speaker 2: and that vulnerability is very real, which is why we
- 22:18Speaker 2: need a proactive FBI. We need law enforcement that that
- 22:22Speaker 2: that is focusing on the bad guys and and and
- 22:27Speaker 2: not on every political agenda that that that that might
- 22:30Speaker 2: be the latest fashionable priority.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I want to wrap up with letting the country hear
- 22:37Speaker 1: Joe Biden. He did address the nation from Camp David
- 22:42Speaker 1: uh seven o'clock on New Year's Day, as we were
- 22:46Speaker 1: recording this about two hours after that, and this is
- 22:49Speaker 1: what Joe Biden had to say, part of it, at
- 22:51Speaker 1: least about this attack. Take a listen, and I want
- 22:54Speaker 1: to get your reaction Texas.
- 22:57Speaker 6: He served in the United States Army an active duty
- 22:59Speaker 6: for many years. He also served in the Army Reserve
- 23:02Speaker 6: until a few years ago. The FBI also reported to
- 23:06Speaker 6: me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos
- 23:10Speaker 6: on social media indicating that is inspired by ISIS, especially
- 23:15Speaker 6: the desire to kill desire to kill. The ISIS flag
- 23:20Speaker 6: was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct
- 23:23Speaker 6: this attack. Possible explosives are found in the vehicle as well,
- 23:28Speaker 6: and more explosives were found nearby. The situation is very fluid,
- 23:34Speaker 6: and the investigation has a preliminary stage, and the fact
- 23:38Speaker 6: is that right right now, excuse me, there you go.
- 23:45Speaker 6: The law enforcement intelligien community are continuing to look for
- 23:49Speaker 6: any connections, associations, are co conspirators, We have nothing, additionally,
- 23:55Speaker 6: report at this time, the investigation is continuing to be
- 23:58Speaker 6: active and no one should jump to conclusions. I've directed
- 24:03Speaker 6: my Attorney General, the FBI Director, the Secretary of Homeland Security,
- 24:09Speaker 6: head a National counter intelligence to Terrorism Center, and the
- 24:12Speaker 6: intelligence community to work on this intensively until we have
- 24:17Speaker 6: a full and complete information. And once we have that information,
- 24:21Speaker 6: I will share that information as soon as we can
- 24:24Speaker 6: confirm it. Additionally, we're tracking the explosion of the cyber
- 24:29Speaker 6: truck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Law enforcement
- 24:34Speaker 6: and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including
- 24:39Speaker 6: whether there's any possible connection with the attacking New Orleans.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Thus far, there's nothing to report on that score at
- 24:46Speaker 6: this time. I've directed my team to make sure every resource,
- 24:50Speaker 6: every resource is made available to federal, state, and local
- 24:54Speaker 6: law enforcement to complete the investigation in New Orleans quickly,
- 24:58Speaker 6: and to make sure there is no remains thread.
- 25:02Speaker 1: You know, there's part of me that's like, Okay, I'm
- 25:05Speaker 1: glad that the president's out there saying this. There's another
- 25:07Speaker 1: part of me when he got lost and said excuse
- 25:10Speaker 1: me while reading that teleprompter, that was just a three
- 25:16Speaker 1: sixty moment of his entire time in the presidency. The
- 25:19Speaker 1: reporting that we talked about about his cognitive decline, just
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think it was on the last pod. And yet
- 25:26Speaker 1: this is the guy who is in charge, and you
- 25:28Speaker 1: wonder why some of these things are happening. Well, he
- 25:30Speaker 1: gets lost in the teleprompter and has to apologize while
- 25:33Speaker 1: reading a prepared statement, and that's the type of leadership
- 25:37Speaker 1: we've had.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Well, listen, I am glad the president gave that press
- 25:42Speaker 2: conference tonight. I'm glad he's speaking out. I think the
- 25:45Speaker 2: substance of what he said is right. I wish him.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I wish the Department of Justice of the FBI every
- 25:53Speaker 2: success and very quickly finding anyone involved in this, apprehending them,
- 25:58Speaker 2: focusing on it. There will be times there is no
- 26:01Speaker 2: doubt that the horrible policies of this administration, the open
- 26:05Speaker 2: borders for four years, have contributed to making us less safe,
- 26:08Speaker 2: have contributed to increasing the likelihood of a terrorist attack.
- 26:13Speaker 2: But at this point, look whether whether Joe Biden the
- 26:17Speaker 2: Democrats intend to be transparent or not, I am confident
- 26:19Speaker 2: the incoming administration will make this information public. It needs
- 26:23Speaker 2: to be public so there can be accountability for where
- 26:27Speaker 2: where the ball was dropped, because at the end of
- 26:29Speaker 2: the day, this attack was not prevented tragically, and we
- 26:35Speaker 2: need to learn from that and make sure we stop
- 26:40Speaker 2: the next attack. But what I will say tonight is
- 26:43Speaker 2: that our prayers are with the families and loved ones
- 26:46Speaker 2: of those who were murdered earlier. Today, our prayers are
- 26:50Speaker 2: with all of the victims who were injured. We are
- 26:53Speaker 2: praying for their recovery, We're praying for their safety, and
- 26:55Speaker 2: I'll say to all of you, look, look, stay vigilance,
- 26:58Speaker 2: stay safe, and and tonight you give your kids an
- 27:04Speaker 2: extra hug, and remember your family and those you love,
- 27:08Speaker 2: because it's a dangerous world we live in right now.
- 27:12Speaker 1: No doubt about it. Our thoughts and prayers are with
- 27:14Speaker 1: all those in the hospital, dozens and dozens injured in
- 27:18Speaker 1: New Orleans and at least seven injured in what happened
- 27:21Speaker 1: in Vegas. That suspect is we now know the death
- 27:24Speaker 1: toll has risen. At this moment, we're recording to fifteen people.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Pray for those families the center, and I will see
- 27:30Speaker 1: you back here as well. If there's any other significant
- 27:34Speaker 1: breaking news, we will make sure that we get it
- 27:36Speaker 1: to you. But we wanted to make sure we had
- 27:38Speaker 1: this conversation with you as soon as we could tonight,
- 27:41Speaker 1: and be safe everyone, and we'll see you back here
- 27:43Speaker 1: in a couple of days
