- 2:11Speaker 1: show today, folks. I just want to dive right in
- 2:16Speaker 1: because I think I got it here. It is. Did
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know that there is a life for you that's
- 2:24Speaker 1: greater than you could have ever dreamed of? Did you
- 2:30Speaker 1: know that there's a life for you better than the
- 2:33Speaker 1: one you've ever felt before? And did you know that
- 2:38Speaker 1: there was a life for you much bigger than the
- 2:42Speaker 1: one you wanted? And lastly, did you know that what
- 2:48Speaker 1: I just said it's true? Did you know that did
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know that the things I just said are available
- 2:58Speaker 1: to you? It's not just intended for those who receive awards.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's for everybody. Yeah, you two, It's for you who
- 3:16Speaker 1: didn't get your high school diploma. It's for you who
- 3:21Speaker 1: are incarcerated. It's for you who have two strikes. It's
- 3:30Speaker 1: for you who've been sentenced to life. It's for you
- 3:36Speaker 1: who've gotten out and have a felony record and can't
- 3:39Speaker 1: seem to get it together. It's for you who have
- 3:44Speaker 1: an illness. It's for you who the doctors have given
- 3:49Speaker 1: up on. It's for you, this life I'm talking about,
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's for you. Did you know that there's a life
- 4:02Speaker 1: for you better than the one you dreamed about, better
- 4:06Speaker 1: than the one you've imagined, a life better than the
- 4:09Speaker 1: one you thought of, That there's a life for you
- 4:12Speaker 1: better than the one you've ever felt before. There's a
- 4:16Speaker 1: life for you better than the one you saw for yourself.
- 4:19Speaker 1: There's a better life for you than the one you
- 4:22Speaker 1: expected and even the one you wanted. Did you know
- 4:27Speaker 1: that this is true for you? See, here's let me
- 4:32Speaker 1: give you the secret to this thing. Now you have
- 4:36Speaker 1: to believe that it is for you. Now, you got
- 4:41Speaker 1: to fight through the doubts. You got to fight through
- 4:44Speaker 1: the will of Satan. Because the devil is busy man.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The devil wants you to think that is hopeless. The
- 4:49Speaker 1: devil wants you to think that this is it. The
- 4:52Speaker 1: devil wants you to think that ain't no more to it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The devil wants you to think that this applies to
- 4:57Speaker 1: other people. But you, Yeah, you've been dealt the worse
- 5:00Speaker 1: hand of them all, which you ate. But that's what
- 5:02Speaker 1: the devil wants you to think. So you gotta fight through. Now,
- 5:05Speaker 1: You gotta fight through to get to what I just
- 5:08Speaker 1: said is available for you. But what else you got
- 5:11Speaker 1: to do? You ain't doing nothing else, might as well fight.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Why just wake up and just let it be? Why
- 5:17Speaker 1: would you wake up every day and just exist when
- 5:20Speaker 1: there's a chance for you to actually live. See the
- 5:23Speaker 1: reason I don't mind smiling so much now is because
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm no longer existing. I'm living now. See. See, that's
- 5:30Speaker 1: where you want to get to. You don't want to exist,
- 5:33Speaker 1: to wake up, paycheck to paycheck, date today, not knowing,
- 5:38Speaker 1: not understanding, not having, can't can't get this, can't get that,
- 5:42Speaker 1: can't go here, can't go there, Gotta wait, gotta wait,
- 5:45Speaker 1: gota wait, gota wait till it seems like you never
- 5:48Speaker 1: get nowhere, you can get out of that rut of life,
- 5:51Speaker 1: feeling like when you wake up in the morning that
- 5:53Speaker 1: your life is whole hum that you're just in a rut.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I drive the same way to work. I do the
- 5:59Speaker 1: same thing on my job. When I get off, I
- 6:01Speaker 1: drive all the way back home. I sit there, I
- 6:04Speaker 1: read the newspaper. I water the lawn. I'm so sick
- 6:08Speaker 1: of my life. It ain't this, ain't what I wanted. Man,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and start, wake up, start over, do the same thing.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Then the weekend gets in. You got to mow the lawn,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and then you try to fix something in the garage,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and you feel like your life is in the rut.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about. If this feels like a rut to
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, if it's what you've always wanted, I'm cool
- 6:26Speaker 1: with that. But I'm talking to people who want it more,
- 6:29Speaker 1: who would love their life to be more, who would
- 6:32Speaker 1: love their life to different, to be different. I'm not
- 6:34Speaker 1: criticizing you if I just described your life. I'm just
- 6:38Speaker 1: only talking to the ones who would dare to believe
- 6:42Speaker 1: that there's more to it than this. I'm only talking
- 6:45Speaker 1: to the ones who would dad dad to accept the challenge,
- 6:49Speaker 1: to fight through and see what God got for you
- 6:53Speaker 1: instead of listening to Satan all the time. Devil is busy, man,
- 6:57Speaker 1: Please understand, he's so busy, so busy, and to trick you,
- 7:00Speaker 1: get you into the groove. You know they're doing all
- 7:03Speaker 1: kinds of stuff now man, you know atheists and already
- 7:07Speaker 1: got prayer. Taking out of schools. Excuse me, look at
- 7:10Speaker 1: our skills schools, not as a push by the atheist
- 7:13Speaker 1: to get the words in God we trust, taking off
- 7:15Speaker 1: our money. Here's a deal. If you don't believe in
- 7:17Speaker 1: God and you don't want trust in God, just going
- 7:19Speaker 1: about your business. But what you can't do is spill
- 7:21Speaker 1: off all into what I'm talking about. That's the problem
- 7:24Speaker 1: I have with all of them. If you're gonna do you,
- 7:27Speaker 1: didn't do you, but don't spill off into what I got. Now. See,
- 7:30Speaker 1: if you don't believe what I'm saying, then I ain't
- 7:32Speaker 1: talking to you. Let's just be clear about the relationship
- 7:35Speaker 1: with Steve Harvey and his crew. I'm only talking to
- 7:39Speaker 1: the people that believe that are looking for something else,
- 7:42Speaker 1: that wants something more, that wants something better, that's got
- 7:46Speaker 1: to be out there searching and hoping and trying to
- 7:49Speaker 1: do more. That's all I'm talking to now. If you
- 7:52Speaker 1: don't believe what I'm saying it's true, didn't go ahead
- 7:54Speaker 1: and try it your way, go see write me, email me,
- 7:57Speaker 1: let me know how it's going for you. But telling
- 8:00Speaker 1: you of a way that's tried and true. If you
- 8:03Speaker 1: go to God, if you go to your creator, your makeup,
- 8:06Speaker 1: if you go to him and you go to him
- 8:10Speaker 1: for real and tell him, hey, you know what I
- 8:13Speaker 1: want you to go ahead and take over from here.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm done. I haven't done all I know how to
- 8:18Speaker 1: do out and tried everything I know how to try.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm sick of me right now. Hey, look here, you
- 8:24Speaker 1: created me what you want me to do, and here
- 8:27Speaker 1: a cool thing about it. When I made that decision,
- 8:29Speaker 1: y'all see, I was so afraid for years that I
- 8:32Speaker 1: was gonna miss out on something if I did that.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I couldn't do this no more. But the stuff I
- 8:36Speaker 1: needed to stop doing. I really need to stop the
- 8:38Speaker 1: things I was afraid of not being able to do
- 8:41Speaker 1: anymore with the very same things I really didn't need
- 8:43Speaker 1: to be doing no more in the first place, on
- 8:46Speaker 1: the real man, on the real all that temporary fun
- 8:50Speaker 1: I was having all them temporary outlets I was using
- 8:54Speaker 1: all them temporary things trying to fulfill myself I was doing.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I was just doing a bunch of temporary mess man.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I said, hold up, man, I want something permanent. Man,
- 9:03Speaker 1: I want a permanent feeling in my heart that it's
- 9:06Speaker 1: gonna be all right. So he replaced all that fun
- 9:09Speaker 1: with joy. But it's only because I went and I
- 9:12Speaker 1: faced him. He didn't take me and stop me from
- 9:15Speaker 1: being me. He just made a better version of me. See, God,
- 9:20Speaker 1: don't take he because all the stuff he sent you through,
- 9:23Speaker 1: he needed you to go through all him. He needed
- 9:25Speaker 1: you to have him experience or what it felt like
- 9:27Speaker 1: to be locked up. He needed you to have experience
- 9:29Speaker 1: and know what it was to lose everything. He needed
- 9:32Speaker 1: you to have experience to make you tough. You're just
- 9:35Speaker 1: gonna be a tough one. I'm a tough soldier in
- 9:38Speaker 1: his army. That's all I just say. One of the
- 9:41Speaker 1: weak ones. I protect the weak ones. God didn't take
- 9:46Speaker 1: a lot of stuff from except the stuff I needed.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But the stuff he made me to be, he allowed
- 9:52Speaker 1: me to keep it, and he just made a better me.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Do that, y'all, and you can have what you want.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You're listening, hey, listen. Everybody's your man, Steve Harvey, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: today I've been talking about it all along, but it's

- 10:30Speaker 1: have fun, you know, have some ladies moments, just do you.

- 11:56Speaker 1: Mississippi Monica, good boy. Happy International Women's Day. Power power,
- 12:05Speaker 1: pound pound pound, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. So ladies, this is
- 12:10Speaker 1: our day. We have taken over the show. We're gonna
- 12:12Speaker 1: talk about what it's like growing up in America as
- 12:16Speaker 1: little black girls. Okay, how about that? How do we
- 12:20Speaker 1: how we continue to support and uplift women? Uh? You know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: we don't want to get into the hate ration game.
- 12:28Speaker 1: We're not about that. We're about empowering women of that,
- 12:33Speaker 1: not at all, right, not at all right, Yeah, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and just you know, navigating social media all of that,
- 12:41Speaker 1: all of that. Quick story. I have to tell you, Um,
- 12:45Speaker 1: I love all of these women. I think when we
- 12:48Speaker 1: all met it was pretty much instant. You know, talk
- 12:51Speaker 1: about a sisterhood. I wouldn't you all agree to that? Cheryl,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I've known you, I think the longest, and when we
- 12:56Speaker 1: met it was instant. Yes, I mean instant. I came
- 12:59Speaker 1: to one of your shows and we met backstage and
- 13:01Speaker 1: it was instant, and we've been friends ever since that.
- 13:04Speaker 1: That may have been in the eighties. Carla, same with you.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I met you through radio instant. It's a sisterhood. It's
- 13:13Speaker 1: a sisterhood. Monica, same with you. I mean we met
- 13:17Speaker 1: through a mutual friend, but it was like our spirits met,
- 13:21Speaker 1: you know, just like that. And we all have kind
- 13:23Speaker 1: of like similar stories, similar stories. Yeah, we'll tell you
- 13:27Speaker 1: more about that, how we got together and all of that.
- 13:30Speaker 1: But coming up at thirty two minutes after the hour,
- 13:33Speaker 1: Cheryl Underwood is here for asked the CLO Chief Love
- 13:37Speaker 1: Officer Heavy International Women's Day. We'll be right back with
- 13:40Speaker 1: the cello, Cheryl Underwood right after this. You're listening to
- 13:45Speaker 1: the stow All right, listen, we said, asked the cello.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But we are taking over today, right, so we're gonna
- 13:53Speaker 1: change it. It's simply going to be asked, Cheryl. We
- 13:56Speaker 1: like about Women's Day? Asked Cheryl, all about us? All
- 14:02Speaker 1: about us? But I'll take a co signe. Now I'm
- 14:06Speaker 1: about the right answer, so I'll take a co sign
- 14:09Speaker 1: especially from my deltas missing Michael. Look at all the
- 14:12Speaker 1: Delta's phone lines alone. I have all the deltas. Cheryl,
- 14:16Speaker 1: just answer from your heart. I will. I know you will.
- 14:20Speaker 1: All right, here we go. This is gonna be funny,
- 14:23Speaker 1: all right, this one. Cheryl is from White and Treeport, Louisiana.
- 14:27Speaker 1: White says, I'm dating a woman that she says she's
- 14:30Speaker 1: not dating anyone else, but she hangs out with mostly men.
- 14:34Speaker 1: There are three guys in particular that are always at
- 14:37Speaker 1: her house. I've been around them, and they like to
- 14:40Speaker 1: say that my girlfriend is like one of the boys.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm old school. So I told her that I don't
- 14:45Speaker 1: like it. I need to be the only man in
- 14:48Speaker 1: her house. She's needs nothing wrong with it. So I'm
- 14:50Speaker 1: thinking about having some of my female friends from church
- 14:53Speaker 1: come by my house while she's there. Do you think
- 14:56Speaker 1: that will get her attention? No, that's gonna get everybody
- 14:59Speaker 1: aske Sorry it was I'm not to say that everybody interview.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh no, you bring you bring them girls from church
- 15:05Speaker 1: out from church, lady though, because the dudes I ain't
- 15:10Speaker 1: messing with, but them girls over there life am my wrong, lady,
- 15:14Speaker 1: Because first of all, he needs to listen to backstabb
- 15:18Speaker 1: was by the Oja's listen to the lyrics he breaks
- 15:21Speaker 1: the dad. All you fellas that have someone that you
- 15:24Speaker 1: really care that, it's all of you fellas who better
- 15:28Speaker 1: be well. But I'm also a woman who hangs out
- 15:30Speaker 1: with a lot of men. I work with a lot
- 15:32Speaker 1: of men. I am even friends with women who have
- 15:36Speaker 1: that duality, a male side of their personality. So so
- 15:40Speaker 1: I know a type of personality dynamic I'm with. I
- 15:44Speaker 1: would say this if he has not sat down and
- 15:46Speaker 1: spoken to her about his concerns. That's what you have
- 15:50Speaker 1: to do as a man. Don't put your foot down,
- 15:53Speaker 1: because soon as you put your foot down, I'm like,
- 15:55Speaker 1: who you talking to? I'm cooking my birth certificates. Show
- 15:58Speaker 1: you your name is not on my birth as your daddy. Right,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I know who my daddy is and it's not you.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But I could see how men feel that, all of
- 16:11Speaker 1: these men and they're at your house. That's the part
- 16:14Speaker 1: that would bother me. Yeah, if they are they dating?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Are they married? Clarify that from me? What I'm more
- 16:19Speaker 1: time he's dating, he's dating, they're dating, but they're pursuing
- 16:22Speaker 1: to marriage. Well, he didn't say that, but it may
- 16:26Speaker 1: because he feels the way he feels. It may yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 1: it may have that in that direction. But right now
- 16:31Speaker 1: he's calling her his girlfriend and they're dating. Well, if
- 16:34Speaker 1: he has not made his issue to me that that
- 16:37Speaker 1: is an issue. But first of all, I pay the
- 16:40Speaker 1: mortgage my name. I can't buy anybody I want to
- 16:42Speaker 1: up here. You know you ain't paying mortgage. Right. But
- 16:49Speaker 1: but if if my man had a concern and he
- 16:52Speaker 1: came to me with manhood and perseverance the right way,
- 16:56Speaker 1: did I say, Right, Monica, if he comes to me
- 16:58Speaker 1: with that manhood and yeah and talk to me and say, baby,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I know these are your friends, but your friends are
- 17:04Speaker 1: always here. And a man has instincts as well. Am
- 17:08Speaker 1: I wrong? Callipharel? Men have instincts as well, and they
- 17:11Speaker 1: can see what's happening. Yes, human beings are instincts. Yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 1: I got a men and women. I got a good
- 17:18Speaker 1: story to tell you off the air because I don't
- 17:20Speaker 1: have enough time. And this is a real story. When
- 17:22Speaker 1: I first got married and I made a plate for
- 17:24Speaker 1: another man because I don't oh yet, Oh yes, what
- 17:32Speaker 1: a time we got start. Oh you got okay, we
- 17:36Speaker 1: have other questions. But if you okay, okay, no, no,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'll tell you what want me. I'll tell it real quick.
- 17:41Speaker 1: In my family, um, I don't eat before a man eat,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and men don't fix their own plate. So I sold
- 17:49Speaker 1: in if there were men who were guested in the house,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and I fixed the plate and I sat the plate down,
- 17:55Speaker 1: but a person and my husband looked at me like
- 18:00Speaker 1: like it wasna I continuo when they left. It was
- 18:06Speaker 1: just trying to help you. I there, it is right there,
- 18:10Speaker 1: so I know how uh well, I never I never
- 18:15Speaker 1: really knew to do. Was trying to throw me some rhythm.
- 18:18Speaker 1: She got snatched off. Go ahead, Oh no, you ain't
- 18:21Speaker 1: seching a week listen. I'm a West marcasof I'm an
- 18:24Speaker 1: underwood switchblade in my buzz If that's okay, that's not
- 18:29Speaker 1: happening a Mississippi and can can I get a Mississippi
- 18:32Speaker 1: coast side? But what is the next question? What is
- 18:35Speaker 1: the next all? Right? This is from This is from
- 18:38Speaker 1: Samantha and Pittsburgh. Samantha says, my brother has been mad
- 18:41Speaker 1: at my mother since she got remarried and her new
- 18:43Speaker 1: husband told him it was time to move out. It
- 18:47Speaker 1: was like on the movie Baby Boy when Jody got
- 18:49Speaker 1: put out. My brother is thirty one and living with
- 18:52Speaker 1: my mama because he spends his money on cars closing women.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I support my mama's and uh stepdad's decision, but I
- 18:59Speaker 1: want them to make up so we can be one big,
- 19:02Speaker 1: happy family. How can I get them to squash it? Well?
- 19:05Speaker 1: First of all, where do this brother live, because there
- 19:07Speaker 1: might be some jealousy that you are getting your other
- 19:10Speaker 1: brothers living Rentfrey and my close callar for real. But
- 19:13Speaker 1: also the husband. Now, if if their mother has allowed
- 19:20Speaker 1: him to become head of the household, then you have
- 19:24Speaker 1: to respect their wishes. But they should have come to
- 19:26Speaker 1: this to gather. You don't separate me from my children
- 19:30Speaker 1: because I married you, I gave birth to them. You know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: there's a different situation. But if my sons, if if
- 19:38Speaker 1: I had something, my sons would be living in the
- 19:41Speaker 1: house because as soon as you pop, Funky still be
- 19:46Speaker 1: there at thirty one, mowing the lawn, doing everything. Because
- 19:50Speaker 1: in case my new husband pop off, who my son's
- 19:55Speaker 1: going to come out? Back room? This negro is not
- 20:01Speaker 1: your daddy. Handle, it is not your daddy. Did you
- 20:07Speaker 1: say he corrected me? Yeah? Do you say how he
- 20:11Speaker 1: corrected me? To get back with your father, whoever he is,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to get back with your father. Well
- 20:18Speaker 1: he is whoever he is. If I kept figuring out
- 20:21Speaker 1: out the whole nanny was jumping that night, it was
- 20:24Speaker 1: your the whole in the wall. You better know it. Now.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You see what we had to have Cheryl on the
- 20:37Speaker 1: show today. Yeah, get it now, you get it now?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Thirty one? No, Cheryl, No, that's a little old girl.
- 20:44Speaker 1: That's a little old to be still living with your mama.
- 20:47Speaker 1: If my baby is suddenty five and I'm a ninety five,
- 20:53Speaker 1: all right, listen, coming up next, we're gonna talk about success,
- 20:57Speaker 1: success all right right after this, and it's International Women's day.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Happy International
- 21:06Speaker 1: Women's Day. I love saying that because you know, it's
- 21:10Speaker 1: all about women today. It's all about women. We need
- 21:13Speaker 1: to honor, love, support, empower women. Yes, we do, and
- 21:18Speaker 1: recognize them, you know. I mean, we need our sisters,
- 21:21Speaker 1: we need each other. You know how it goes. Coming
- 21:24Speaker 1: up at the top of the hour, Miss Anne is
- 21:26Speaker 1: standing by another empowered woman on this International Woman's Day,
- 21:31Speaker 1: while the Senate pass as President Biden's American Rescue Plan.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Plus and entertainment news, Carl is going to have some
- 21:39Speaker 1: music news for us. We'll also talk about coming to
- 21:41Speaker 1: America with Eddie and our CINEO. Love this movie. I
- 21:46Speaker 1: loved it and yes right now, yeah, I loved it.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Trending right now Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with their
- 21:53Speaker 1: interview with Oprah. Now our special guests. She's not really
- 21:56Speaker 1: a guest, but we had to bring her in especially
- 21:59Speaker 1: today because we love her so much and we don't
- 22:01Speaker 1: want to do the show without her. The one and
- 22:03Speaker 1: only Cheryl Underwood is here. Thank you, Cheryl. Now you're very,
- 22:08Speaker 1: very busy, so we appreciate you. Thank you for having me. Yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about all of these stories at the
- 22:14Speaker 1: top of the hour, but right now, like I said,
- 22:16Speaker 1: it is International Women's Day. Um, let's just have kind
- 22:20Speaker 1: of a girl power talk about sex. You guys, I
- 22:24Speaker 1: mean success, you miss sex? Yeah, okay, well if your
- 22:36Speaker 1: sex is good, then hey, you'll be successful, right anyway?
- 22:41Speaker 1: So anyway, yes, all right, So ladies, what do you
- 22:45Speaker 1: think is the key to success? The success and we're
- 22:48Speaker 1: talking about the success you have right now and you've
- 22:51Speaker 1: experienced Cheryl oh me, Well, you know what I want.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I really want to talk about even though we were
- 22:57Speaker 1: joking with things that are going on where women are
- 23:01Speaker 1: being approached or sometimes even manipulated in certain things. I'm
- 23:07Speaker 1: gonna tell you'all, let's start tell you let's start in
- 23:09Speaker 1: my meaning. I wouldn't even say sexual harassment. I think
- 23:14Speaker 1: that the men, the men, you know, we had things
- 23:17Speaker 1: in a comedy game where you know, how you gonna
- 23:19Speaker 1: go on tour, especially as a female comic, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and they don't do a lot of female tours and
- 23:23Speaker 1: things like that. It wasn't really happening like that, so
- 23:26Speaker 1: you would get approached by dudes that were like, hey
- 23:29Speaker 1: you hillight me I could change your life or you're
- 23:31Speaker 1: gonna get it. You know, your career gonna bump up.
- 23:33Speaker 1: So and I tell this story so a very naive.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So and if I'm not wearing my glasses, I don't
- 23:39Speaker 1: know who I'm talking to. So, so this guy start
- 23:43Speaker 1: talking to me after I did a set right, it
- 23:45Speaker 1: did my show, and he was like, so, what are
- 23:47Speaker 1: you doing after this? Like something golden bar? Like? I
- 23:49Speaker 1: always hang up right, And so he said, well, why
- 23:52Speaker 1: don't we get together? I said, to do what? And
- 23:54Speaker 1: he was like, you know, to do some things. I said,
- 23:57Speaker 1: oh oh. And he seems like if you get with me,
- 24:01Speaker 1: uh I can I can advance your career? I said, well,
- 24:05Speaker 1: first of all, if I get with you, why am
- 24:08Speaker 1: I still working? Yeah? Oh right, why am I still
- 24:12Speaker 1: waiting to all that? If you all that? And why
- 24:15Speaker 1: am I still working? And I don't think men like
- 24:18Speaker 1: to be approached by a woman that flips the game
- 24:20Speaker 1: on him. That's how we U say back in the day.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So I didn't. I was just saying I And I
- 24:24Speaker 1: said to the man, I said who are you? And
- 24:27Speaker 1: he said who he was? I knew the name from
- 24:30Speaker 1: very much successful, but I couldn't connect the face with
- 24:33Speaker 1: the person you him, and so it was so unfamous,
- 24:35Speaker 1: like somebody really really big and powerful. But I knew
- 24:39Speaker 1: the name, but I couldn't connect it with the person.
- 24:42Speaker 1: So I said, which he would, You know, Monica, if
- 24:46Speaker 1: somebody come toward me, then I'm like, wow, I'm fascinated
- 24:51Speaker 1: by that. But I'm all about my money and all
- 24:53Speaker 1: about my grind, and I'm all about how I get.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I'm a boss on a loan on myself. So I
- 24:59Speaker 1: said to the man, why don't you wait until we're equals,
- 25:03Speaker 1: then we truly make love? And he didn't like it.
- 25:07Speaker 1: He walked away. Yeah he didn't. Yeah right, he showed
- 25:13Speaker 1: me as I'm supposed to be the wildflower to this,
- 25:16Speaker 1: to that. And I'm saying all of this to say,
- 25:18Speaker 1: of everything that I've done, I always try to get
- 25:21Speaker 1: me a fairy godfather and a fairy godmother. But then
- 25:25Speaker 1: I also tried to say, what does God really want
- 25:28Speaker 1: me to be do? Because sometimes I stumble, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: you send a DeBarge toward me. I'm going to stumble,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh no, but you send el DeBarge toward me. I'm
- 25:36Speaker 1: going to stumble, it's just well, I mean, we all
- 25:39Speaker 1: but my business, right, that's my weakness if you are
- 25:46Speaker 1: an El DeBarge type. But for my business business, yes,
- 25:51Speaker 1: for my business business. I'm kind of different in my
- 25:55Speaker 1: business and a lot of men and women can't take that.
- 26:00Speaker 1: And we have to be careful of our stridency and
- 26:03Speaker 1: our power that someone must not understand. And I'm saying this,
- 26:08Speaker 1: I'm throwing it out to you ladies too. It ain't
- 26:10Speaker 1: just men that a challenge you and try you. Sometimes
- 26:12Speaker 1: it's the woman that don't understand you was meant to
- 26:16Speaker 1: be this boss here and I'm here to help you.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Am I right? Carl Prell, speak on it. You better
- 26:22Speaker 1: absolutely speak on the girl. I think two as women.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think you know, for me, watching our generations in
- 26:30Speaker 1: the past, our mother, our grandmother, we watched them do
- 26:33Speaker 1: it all, do you know what I'm saying. That's how
- 26:36Speaker 1: you know? And our ancestors. So I think that for me,
- 26:40Speaker 1: the pressure of there was no pressure from them, but
- 26:43Speaker 1: I put the pressure on myself to not be a
- 26:47Speaker 1: disappointment too. I had to. I had to succeed. You know.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I watched my grandmother work two jobs. She was a nurse.
- 26:55Speaker 1: She would come in. I would wash her uniforms for
- 26:58Speaker 1: her and hang them up to dry and iron them,
- 27:00Speaker 1: and I would polish her shoes, and Shirley knows to
- 27:03Speaker 1: this day, I will not wear white shoes because I
- 27:07Speaker 1: had to polish her shoes because she was a nurse
- 27:10Speaker 1: and watching my mother. So for me, that was my drive.
- 27:14Speaker 1: That was my push for me to be successful. And
- 27:17Speaker 1: now that I am a mother, you know, now that
- 27:19Speaker 1: I'm a mother, exactly, I want to lead by example
- 27:25Speaker 1: and want her to follow her dreams. You know, when
- 27:27Speaker 1: I was a little growing up quickly, and I'll let
- 27:29Speaker 1: you know, Monica jump in as well. Growing up listening
- 27:32Speaker 1: to radio, that was my thing. I listened to radio
- 27:36Speaker 1: all the time I was a little girl in Chicago
- 27:38Speaker 1: listening to radio. That's all I wanted to Yes, And
- 27:42Speaker 1: my mother would take me to the record stores on
- 27:45Speaker 1: the North side, you know, and buy records and on
- 27:48Speaker 1: the South side and you know, all of these things
- 27:51Speaker 1: that I wanted. So this is a passion of mine
- 27:53Speaker 1: working in radio. Always knew that I would do this. Yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: So this success is it's here for me, you know,
- 27:59Speaker 1: whatever level it is in my job. But I'm doing
- 28:02Speaker 1: what I love. For ahead, but go ahead, go ahead.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I do want to hear from Monica, because you know
- 28:07Speaker 1: this is your chance. Monica. We don't hear from you
- 28:10Speaker 1: that much. And you didn't start off wanting to be
- 28:12Speaker 1: in radio. You know that wasn't good for you. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I mean it was just I met Shirley Strawberry. I
- 28:22Speaker 1: was friends with the exactly with the producer at the time,
- 28:24Speaker 1: and God took over the rest. So basically starting out,
- 28:28Speaker 1: and I'm from Mississippi and my grandmother had twelve children.
- 28:31Speaker 1: My mother is the oldest of twelve, so I have
- 28:33Speaker 1: eight aunts and four uncles, and I just always watched
- 28:37Speaker 1: my aunts and uncle's excel and basically my aunts were bad.
- 28:40Speaker 1: They were bosses from the beginning. My grandmother had twelve children.
- 28:44Speaker 1: She never worked, She took care of the home. She
- 28:46Speaker 1: made homemade biscuits because if you think back, my mom's eighty,
- 28:50Speaker 1: so she was making homemade biscuits every day. And just
- 28:53Speaker 1: the work ethic she instilled in her girls and watching
- 28:57Speaker 1: my mother, who stayed at a job for twenty nine
- 28:59Speaker 1: years and eventual and became directive placements for the Department
- 29:01Speaker 1: of Human Services. She never wavered, She never took a
- 29:04Speaker 1: day off. She stayed with it. And I just saw
- 29:07Speaker 1: that tenacity she had and she instilled in me. You
- 29:10Speaker 1: have to work, go, get up and get it down
- 29:12Speaker 1: every day. That's all right, all right, We're gonna continue
- 29:15Speaker 1: these conversations all morning. Coming up at the top of
- 29:18Speaker 1: the hour, we got some entertainment and national news for
- 29:21Speaker 1: you right after this. You're listening to show all right

- 30:08Speaker 1: did you lady see coming to America with Yes? I
- 30:13Speaker 1: love it, freaking loved it. I loved it. I was
- 30:20Speaker 1: blown away. I was blown I was a little worried
- 30:22Speaker 1: at first because it was so many stars in it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I was like, how are they going to fit this
- 30:26Speaker 1: all into this movie and make it good? But they
- 30:30Speaker 1: did it. Eddie Murphy is a genius on every level.
- 30:35Speaker 1: He's a genius on every level. It was really really good.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Wesley Wesley, Wesley a favorite producer.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Kenya Barris, Yes, we love Rode it. Yeah, it was
- 30:55Speaker 1: just beautiful. It was great. You're right, man, Yeah, I
- 30:58Speaker 1: can't wait for this on him. Yeah. My daughter she
- 31:01Speaker 1: watched it because she never chendn't see the original coming
- 31:04Speaker 1: to America, so she didn't know the story. So the
- 31:06Speaker 1: twists with Tianna Taylor and all of the younger stars
- 31:10Speaker 1: and actors. She enjoyed it. Tanna was fire. What Yeah, yes, yes,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but didn't it feel good that you that was a
- 31:22Speaker 1: movie that we grew up with that we love. Now
- 31:24Speaker 1: we got some of the kids and then you can
- 31:26Speaker 1: watch them both together and see why we feel what
- 31:30Speaker 1: we felt and shout out to Leslie Jones. You seen
- 31:33Speaker 1: Stiller baby making a statement with that. You're making a
- 31:38Speaker 1: statement with that. It was so funny. Oh my god,
- 31:44Speaker 1: it was so funny and Randy Watson, thank you. That
- 31:51Speaker 1: is it was just so good. Do you know that
- 31:54Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy told the story that Oprah did not know
- 31:58Speaker 1: that the Jewish guy in the bar shop was Eddie Murphy.
- 32:01Speaker 1: She did all the time, all the time, she didn't
- 32:04Speaker 1: know that. Yeah, he's that good. He's a genius. He's
- 32:07Speaker 1: a genious, he is just Eddie Eni. Let's get was great.
- 32:18Speaker 1: To go ahead, mar we have to give it to
- 32:19Speaker 1: Sherry Henley. She looked amazing in the movie. Lisa mcnowelling,
- 32:28Speaker 1: she looked great. She I loved well, we can't tell
- 32:31Speaker 1: that part, but I loved the James Earl Jones part,
- 32:34Speaker 1: the King's partner. Yeah, I love his party. Yes, I
- 32:44Speaker 1: love the movie. All right, So that that was this weekend. Also,
- 32:48Speaker 1: did you guys see last night Prince Harry and Megan
- 32:51Speaker 1: Markle the interview with Oprah My girl, my girl, did
- 32:58Speaker 1: she get it? But she shook him up so hard
- 33:02Speaker 1: that the Queen tried to make a statement before we
- 33:04Speaker 1: came out. Yeah, yeah about your shook by opfering only
- 33:14Speaker 1: shake it like that? All right, Cheryl, it's time now
- 33:18Speaker 1: for our headlines. Please introduce our female boss that does
- 33:21Speaker 1: the news for us. It is my pleasure on this
- 33:24Speaker 1: International Women's Day to enter those ladies and gentlemen, miss
- 33:28Speaker 1: and trip, thank you guys, good morning, this is a trip,
- 33:33Speaker 1: yes on this International Women's Day. Okay, Jerry selection is
- 33:36Speaker 1: to schedule to begin in Minnesota today for the George
- 33:38Speaker 1: Floyd murder case. Xcop Derek Chauvin currently only faced his
- 33:42Speaker 1: second degree murder and man's laughter charge. Is what A
- 33:44Speaker 1: Minnesota appeals court ruled Friday that a third degree murder
- 33:48Speaker 1: charge against Chauvin should not have been dropped by a
- 33:50Speaker 1: lower chord. We're gonna have to see what happens there
- 33:52Speaker 1: or Chauvin appeals. The actual trial could be postponed, So
- 33:56Speaker 1: just kind of reserve on that. But all that aside.
- 33:58Speaker 1: George Floyd's brother, felonas from minds is of the horrific
- 34:01Speaker 1: devastations still suffered by the Floyd family. Boyd was coming
- 34:04Speaker 1: from his nose and the officers still sat there on
- 34:07Speaker 1: his neck like he was okay. It's never okay that
- 34:12Speaker 1: hurt somebody like that. We shouldn't have to go to
- 34:15Speaker 1: court for anything like this. We shouldn't have to. Meanwhile,
- 34:19Speaker 1: Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi says, the House has passed a police
- 34:23Speaker 1: reform bill named after mister Floyd. We're proud of this legislation.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It will not erase centuries of systemic racism and excessive policing,
- 34:32Speaker 1: and it will not bring back George Floyd, but it
- 34:36Speaker 1: will take a tremendous step forward and by banning by
- 34:40Speaker 1: various forms of chokeholes and federal no knock drug warrants
- 34:43Speaker 1: and banned that stuff that was involved in Brianna Taylor's murder,
- 34:46Speaker 1: and reducing the immunity that cops currently get when involved
- 34:49Speaker 1: in civilian deaths. On the Hill, the US Senate has
- 34:53Speaker 1: passed the Democrats overall close to two trillion dollars coronavirus
- 34:57Speaker 1: relief bill, even though the fifteen dollar minimum wage part
- 35:00Speaker 1: of had to be removed in order to get the
- 35:02Speaker 1: rest of it okay, the Republicans said had to be
- 35:05Speaker 1: in a different budget bill. That measure now going back
- 35:08Speaker 1: to the House of Representatives for final approval before going
- 35:12Speaker 1: on to the President for his expected signature. Previously, by
- 35:16Speaker 1: the way, the Senate voted against the fifteen dollars an
- 35:18Speaker 1: hour hike fifty eight to forty two. It's eight Democrats
- 35:21Speaker 1: joining the GOP opposition. However, there is word that most
- 35:25Speaker 1: Senators might go along with a lower federal wage hike,
- 35:27Speaker 1: but on a separate bill. President Biden signed an executive
- 35:30Speaker 1: order yesterday aimed at leveraging federal resources to expand access
- 35:35Speaker 1: to voting. Yesterday was the fifty sixth anniversary of Bloody Sunday.
- 35:39Speaker 1: That's when six hundred peaceful protesters marched across the Edmund
- 35:42Speaker 1: Pet Bridge and saw Alabama of four voting rights, but
- 35:46Speaker 1: were attacked by violent white state troopers. Finally, poet turned
- 35:51Speaker 1: international sensation Amanda Gorman says some white security guard fired
- 35:54Speaker 1: her home, followed her home the other night, demanding to
- 35:57Speaker 1: know if she lived in her neighborhood and claiming she
- 35:59Speaker 1: looked suspicious. A man who says, once this guy saw
- 36:02Speaker 1: her buzz herself into her building, he walked away with
- 36:05Speaker 1: no apology. Old folks say that's evil. Twenty two year
- 36:09Speaker 1: old Polder says, this is the reality of black girls.
- 36:11Speaker 1: One day you're a nicon, the next day a threat.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Now back to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening,
- 36:19Speaker 1: all right, So it is International Women's Day, and we
- 36:22Speaker 1: were talking about Chicago radio and growing up. I was
- 36:26Speaker 1: listening to radio in Chicago and I knew I wanted
- 36:28Speaker 1: to do radio. Shirl you from the Shy Monica has
- 36:32Speaker 1: lived in Chicago. What did you want to say about
- 36:35Speaker 1: radio in Chicago? Well, definitely, I want to say first
- 36:37Speaker 1: about me listening to radio. Ivan Daniels also shout out
- 36:42Speaker 1: Bonnie d Sean. But yeah, okay, the after works that
- 36:49Speaker 1: I really wanted to be. I wanted to I make
- 36:52Speaker 1: a lot of money with inarticulation in comedy, but who
- 36:55Speaker 1: I wanted to speak like was Shirley Strawberry. And I'm
- 36:58Speaker 1: not saying this because you're right here. I'm saying it
- 37:01Speaker 1: because do you remember when I called you recently and
- 37:04Speaker 1: I said, I'd like for you to give me some
- 37:06Speaker 1: diction classes because I'm getting more and more responsibility, and
- 37:11Speaker 1: I just want when we're talking about women and especially
- 37:15Speaker 1: women in radio, all of us are here because God
- 37:18Speaker 1: put us here and we wanted to be here. But
- 37:20Speaker 1: we definitely want to be here with you, Shirley Straberry.
- 37:22Speaker 1: It's not written anywhere. I just want to give you
- 37:24Speaker 1: some love when you talk about women in radio, Cheryl,
- 37:28Speaker 1: thank you. I appreciate that so much. You know, I
- 37:30Speaker 1: love you love you, love you, love you. And talking
- 37:33Speaker 1: about Chicago radio, I mean that's where I guess we all,
- 37:37Speaker 1: you know, developed a love for radio, because that's certainly
- 37:41Speaker 1: where I learned it. And you mentioned the iconic Yvonne Daniels.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Everyone who grew up in Chicago knew about Vone Daniels.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I had never heard anything like this in my life
- 37:53Speaker 1: when I heard that woman's voice on the radio. Now
- 37:55Speaker 1: I found nothing like her. I did have the pleasure
- 37:58Speaker 1: of working with her, became friendly and uh chummy and
- 38:04Speaker 1: just you know, I admired her so much. She was
- 38:06Speaker 1: like one of my radio mentors, along with Chili Childs
- 38:09Speaker 1: and Wanda Wells. People in Chicago I know who I'm
- 38:12Speaker 1: talking about. Of course, my girl Bonnie Deshung. We worked
- 38:14Speaker 1: together for many years. I don't know. Radio just did
- 38:17Speaker 1: it for me, and mainly because I loved music so much.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I think Carlin and I talked about this recently, because
- 38:24Speaker 1: we had such a great love for music. I couldn't
- 38:26Speaker 1: sing anything like Vindia. I finally admit it that I
- 38:30Speaker 1: can't sing. I didn't play an instrument. I took trumpet time.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I can't. So what was the what was the other thing?
- 38:39Speaker 1: What was the other thing that I could do. I
- 38:40Speaker 1: could get into radio and play these artists that I loved.
- 38:44Speaker 1: That's what made me get into radio. And I used
- 38:47Speaker 1: to practice all the time when I had the opportunity
- 38:50Speaker 1: to talk to them about radio. And it's not so
- 38:52Speaker 1: much about that now, diction and all of that now,
- 38:55Speaker 1: but back then it was I would practice, practice, practice.
- 38:59Speaker 1: My mom bought me one of those tape recorders, and
- 39:02Speaker 1: you know, I would read in front of the mirror.
- 39:05Speaker 1: That's what I would do. I would read the newspaper
- 39:07Speaker 1: or magazine. I would read every day, and I would
- 39:10Speaker 1: listen to my voice and perfect my voice. And I
- 39:12Speaker 1: took speech elocution classes and theaters, all those kinds of
- 39:17Speaker 1: things that you need to get into this. But anyway,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I just wanted to say that, and thanks to Cheryl. Well,
- 39:22Speaker 1: that's your superpower. That has superpower. Shout out to Sibyl
- 39:25Speaker 1: Wilts as well. That's right, all right, coming up in
- 39:31Speaker 1: thirty four minutes after the hour, guys, we're gonna talk
- 39:34Speaker 1: about We're gonna talk about politics and civil rights as
- 39:37Speaker 1: far as women are concerned. Right after this, you're listening
- 39:40Speaker 1: to the Stay Show, all right, So today on International
- 39:46Speaker 1: Women's Day. We want to celebrate women's achievement. We want
- 39:49Speaker 1: to talk about progress made by empowering women. Vice President
- 39:53Speaker 1: Kamala Harris, First Lady Michelle Obama, Democratic Leader Stacy Abraham's
- 39:59Speaker 1: another one of our favorites, Temka Mallory. The list goes
- 40:02Speaker 1: on and on. So, Cheryl, we gotta ask you, how
- 40:06Speaker 1: do we as black women remind our sisters to use
- 40:09Speaker 1: their voice and power for change as we continue to
- 40:12Speaker 1: demand that our black women leaders always have a seat
- 40:15Speaker 1: at the table. Well, one of the things that I
- 40:18Speaker 1: appreciate about what the young people have is they have
- 40:21Speaker 1: social media as that immediate connection to people. We you know,
- 40:27Speaker 1: we had church, we had fax machines, we had phones,
- 40:30Speaker 1: but they have an immediate connection with Facebook and Instagram
- 40:34Speaker 1: and social media. And the other thing is we, Monica
- 40:38Speaker 1: and I are members of Black Greek letter sororities. Monica,
- 40:43Speaker 1: you are a Delta You remember of Delta Segment Data.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I remember Zata fab To Sorority Incorporated. And to have
- 40:51Speaker 1: Kamala Harris as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
- 40:55Speaker 1: be the Vice President of the United States, the president
- 40:58Speaker 1: of the Senate, I think also we need to look
- 41:01Speaker 1: at our community service organizations and our church organizations. And
- 41:07Speaker 1: I have to say this, when you're talking about fighting
- 41:10Speaker 1: against police brutality, what these young women are doing nowadays,
- 41:14Speaker 1: it's on the backs of what Shirley Chisholm was doing
- 41:17Speaker 1: and what those sisters who were members of the Black
- 41:20Speaker 1: Panther Party were doing. And people just couldn't understand what
- 41:24Speaker 1: was going on. And you make it seem like it
- 41:26Speaker 1: was only men marching in the fifties and sixties. It
- 41:30Speaker 1: was only men, but there were there were women who
- 41:33Speaker 1: were the founders and the organizers of the Niagara Movement
- 41:36Speaker 1: that be got the NAACP. And I will say this,
- 41:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw it to y'all on this one. I
- 41:42Speaker 1: bet a lot of people wish they would have made
- 41:44Speaker 1: stays to abrahams, the governor of Georgia. But you made
- 41:47Speaker 1: a mistake. You made a mistake, You made a mistake,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and you empowered her to save a democracy. Absolutely, and
- 41:57Speaker 1: now we have Kamala Harris as Vice president. That it's
- 42:01Speaker 1: take it. I'm that's still sinking in for me that
- 42:05Speaker 1: we actually have a black woman as vice president of
- 42:09Speaker 1: these United States. I mean, you know, I didn't think
- 42:14Speaker 1: it would be this soon. But I'm so happy it is.
- 42:17Speaker 1: I didn't think we would have a black woman as
- 42:20Speaker 1: the Vice President of the United States before a white woman. Oh,
- 42:24Speaker 1: absolutely vice president of the United States. So yeah, you're
- 42:29Speaker 1: you're absolutely right, yea with what you're saying. And Sheryl,
- 42:33Speaker 1: I just Stacy Abrams the queen that she call her
- 42:38Speaker 1: beause she is the queen. All hail to the Queen. Yes, right, Monica.
- 42:42Speaker 1: But the movement, that movement, we need that what she
- 42:47Speaker 1: did in Georgia recently, what happened with the winter storm,
- 42:50Speaker 1: and what's going on with the governor with the mask mandate,
- 42:54Speaker 1: and we know that he said that as a way
- 42:56Speaker 1: to deflect, you know, from the catastrophe of his leading ship.
- 43:02Speaker 1: A nobody crazy, anybody, Well, you know what, you know what,
- 43:06Speaker 1: You're so right, You're so right. And not only that,
- 43:09Speaker 1: not only is she brilliant, not only is Stacy Abrams brilliant.
- 43:13Speaker 1: And you're right, Cheryl, I do believe that the people
- 43:16Speaker 1: in Georgia uh missed when they didn't make her governor.
- 43:21Speaker 1: But God had a plan. God had a plan, and
- 43:24Speaker 1: she's still alive, and you don't know, she may come
- 43:26Speaker 1: back around and be governor or president. We don't know,
- 43:29Speaker 1: but I have to Yeah, but I have to say
- 43:31Speaker 1: this too. I have the the privilege to meet her. Um.
- 43:35Speaker 1: One day, we were in the same nail salon. Can
- 43:37Speaker 1: you believe that? Wow? Is the same nail salon one
- 43:42Speaker 1: Saturday morning, and I was like, she was walking out,
- 43:46Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, excuse me, but
- 43:49Speaker 1: you know, I'm fan girl, and I'm fan girl all over.
- 43:52Speaker 1: I'm like, you're Stacy Abrams. You're the smartest woman in
- 43:56Speaker 1: the world, I said, the worser. And she was so
- 44:00Speaker 1: kind and for you know, just humbled me to see
- 44:03Speaker 1: how humble she was, you know, with all this power
- 44:07Speaker 1: and this brilliance in her mind. I'm like, I could
- 44:10Speaker 1: be looking at the future president right here, you know.
- 44:13Speaker 1: She was so it's just kind. I said, would you
- 44:15Speaker 1: please take a picture with me? No one's gonna believe this,
- 44:18Speaker 1: and she said, of course, of course I will. And
- 44:21Speaker 1: I just thought that was so great. I didn't tell
- 44:22Speaker 1: her who I was, and she didn't care, you know,
- 44:25Speaker 1: anything like that. Just a sweet, sweet person. More on
- 44:28Speaker 1: this International Women's Day. This is the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 44:32Speaker 1: The Ladies take it over on International Women's day. Right
- 44:35Speaker 1: after this, you're listening to the Steve Harvey Show. Happy
- 44:41Speaker 1: International Women's Day, and yes it is something to be
- 44:44Speaker 1: happy about, and we are happy. The ladies have taken
- 44:47Speaker 1: over the show today. We've taken over the mic. We
- 44:49Speaker 1: are here Shirley Strawberry, Carla Farrell, Cheryl Underwood, and the
- 44:53Speaker 1: one and only Mississippi Monica has joined us today. We
- 44:58Speaker 1: want to let you know that coming up at the
- 45:00Speaker 1: top of the hour, right about four minutes after, it's
- 45:02Speaker 1: my Strawberry letter for today. Do I give up my
- 45:04Speaker 1: dreams for my marriage? Is the subject. Okay, put a
- 45:09Speaker 1: pin in that. We're coming back to that right now.
- 45:12Speaker 1: We've been talking about all kinds of stuff this morning
- 45:15Speaker 1: that concerned women, like equality, inclusion, inspiration. But right now
- 45:20Speaker 1: it's time to talk about balance of work, marriage and dating.
- 45:25Speaker 1: So Carla, let's talk about balancing it all being a wife, mom,
- 45:29Speaker 1: having a career. And then Cheryl and Monica, we got
- 45:33Speaker 1: to talk about dating and all of that, what it's
- 45:35Speaker 1: like to date. Let's talk about the challenges of dating
- 45:38Speaker 1: in your career, all right, So Carla, let's talk about
- 45:41Speaker 1: balancing it all, being a wife, being a mom, having
- 45:44Speaker 1: a career, so yeah, yeah, you know, let me see,
- 45:53Speaker 1: I could do I do, okay, But what I really hate,
- 45:56Speaker 1: and everyone on the show knows this is I hate
- 45:59Speaker 1: the cooking part. I'm sorry, I do. I don't like
- 46:02Speaker 1: some people cooking relaxes them and they like it and
- 46:04Speaker 1: they have to cook for their family and all of that.
- 46:07Speaker 1: It does not interest me in the least. Now do
- 46:10Speaker 1: I have guilt about that? Yes, I do, because of
- 46:15Speaker 1: the way, as we talked earlier, of how we were born,
- 46:18Speaker 1: how we were raised. You know, we're raised to cook
- 46:22Speaker 1: for the man's fixes plate all that. Now, if somebody
- 46:24Speaker 1: else cooks, I will fix the plate, so that counts.
- 46:29Speaker 1: So that counts. Does that count? You know? I might,
- 46:35Speaker 1: You know, I don't. And he doesn't seem to mind
- 46:37Speaker 1: so far, it's been six years. He hasn't left me yet.
- 46:40Speaker 1: He doesn't seem to mind that I don't cook. But really,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I have to be honest. I don't like to cook.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I can cook, I don't like it. It's not one
- 46:48Speaker 1: of my favorite things to do. And as far as
- 46:50Speaker 1: balancing it, that's the main thing that kind of gets me,
- 46:53Speaker 1: you know away, yeah, some kind of way. Yeah, what
- 46:58Speaker 1: about you? And then I'm a mom too of a
- 47:00Speaker 1: twenty four year old. And I haven't said this before.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Let me get this out. I'm also a grandmother of two.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I've never said that before. I've never said that before.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I have a little granddaughter, Jade who's five, and a grandson,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Max who's three. They are the love of my life.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I love these kids. Um, well, we'll talk more about that.
- 47:22Speaker 1: But yeah, I am a grandmother. Now, But how did
- 47:24Speaker 1: I eat since you're not cooking that they got mother?
- 47:27Speaker 1: And I'm just saying, now, come from the grandmother. Yeah.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Oh well, if we go, you know, like out and
- 47:38Speaker 1: stuff and they want dessert, then I'll get some and
- 47:40Speaker 1: bring it home. But yeah, I'm not I'm not that
- 47:45Speaker 1: kind of grandmother. I am not just killing your killing
- 47:49Speaker 1: me right for me a sandwich? I can do that.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Let me say this. I think I love you right now,
- 48:04Speaker 1: calif a real went now she my girl. But now,
- 48:08Speaker 1: but you know what I think. I think that we
- 48:11Speaker 1: got a lot of women out there that are listening
- 48:13Speaker 1: to us this morning, and there is a lot of pressure,
- 48:16Speaker 1: you know with women, especially, you know, if you're married.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I have a young kid. I have a thirteen year
- 48:22Speaker 1: old kid, so cooking not cooking is not an option,
- 48:25Speaker 1: Shirley Shawberry. But you know, it's the cooking, it's the
- 48:30Speaker 1: helping with the homework, it's it's being a wife. It's
- 48:33Speaker 1: taking her to cheer practice, Dan's practice, uh, doctor's appointments,
- 48:37Speaker 1: Dennis appointments. It's all of these things trying to balance
- 48:41Speaker 1: at all. And I think there is some kind of
- 48:43Speaker 1: there is the pressure of the perfection, yes, that you
- 48:50Speaker 1: can do it all, that I can do it all,
- 48:52Speaker 1: and I and it pressing it look good. That's the point, Shirlotte. Pressure. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 1: And I think we we put that pressure on ourselves
- 49:05Speaker 1: sometimes and and and you know, I'm that type of
- 49:08Speaker 1: mom or that type of wife if I say do
- 49:11Speaker 1: this and do that and they don't do it the
- 49:13Speaker 1: way I want them to do it, and I just
- 49:14Speaker 1: do it myself. But then I don't want to be
- 49:17Speaker 1: that woman or that mom or that wife that turns
- 49:20Speaker 1: around and then puts the guilt on him. I do everything. Well,
- 49:23Speaker 1: you said, you know you can do it. So it's
- 49:28Speaker 1: a lot of pressure. It's it's a it's a juggling
- 49:30Speaker 1: app for sure. But go ahead. Well, first of all,
- 49:33Speaker 1: when I was married, my house was a chef and
- 49:37Speaker 1: he was the Air Force Air Force and he went
- 49:41Speaker 1: to Kendall. He went to Kendall College right up in Evanston,
- 49:46Speaker 1: and so he But but I knew how to make
- 49:48Speaker 1: spaghetti and pork chops and you know things. Point. But
- 49:53Speaker 1: my point was on my mother's side, my mother and
- 49:58Speaker 1: my my no mother, because I don't hand on Stepmama.
- 50:01Speaker 1: I have two mothers that God gave me. They were
- 50:04Speaker 1: both entrepreneurs. They were both strong women, and they held
- 50:06Speaker 1: it down in the house and at the church. But
- 50:09Speaker 1: what I've learned is sometimes you got to let somebody
- 50:12Speaker 1: come in and assist you are not But I mean
- 50:19Speaker 1: like if you if your husband is good on the grill,
- 50:21Speaker 1: then he is the cook and you got the potato
- 50:24Speaker 1: salad right right what I'm saying. Or if I'm a
- 50:28Speaker 1: boss out in these streets, I know I got to
- 50:30Speaker 1: come home, rattle those sheets a couple of times and
- 50:33Speaker 1: make a sandwich or put some cereal on the bowl
- 50:35Speaker 1: to let you know who I am up in this piece?
- 50:38Speaker 1: Am I right? Mississippi? Monica? Take it, Take it, Monica,
- 50:42Speaker 1: Take it Monica, you know, and being single and being
- 50:45Speaker 1: within this job, I've traveled so much for work, which
- 50:48Speaker 1: is a blessing and a curse because I can't. I
- 50:50Speaker 1: just got lost in the job. I was having so
- 50:52Speaker 1: much fun. This is the best job I've ever had
- 50:55Speaker 1: and the longest job I've ever had. Because it's family.
- 50:58Speaker 1: We are a family like the Spring Framily right. We
- 51:02Speaker 1: get along, we argue, we fight like sisters. Even when
- 51:04Speaker 1: I met Cheryl, we argue and fight like sisters. College
- 51:07Speaker 1: other sister I see in Jackson, Mississippis. But sometimes but
- 51:12Speaker 1: you know, me and Carla been like me and Shirley.
- 51:15Speaker 1: I will ignore how Carl in a minute, but it's
- 51:17Speaker 1: all up. So I'm here. But as far as dating,
- 51:20Speaker 1: I've just kind of kind of pushed that to the wayside.
- 51:23Speaker 1: And it's not that I miss anything, but I do
- 51:25Speaker 1: kind of sometimes think you all have families, you know,
- 51:28Speaker 1: and Shary you've been married, Shirley you have sharedan and
- 51:31Speaker 1: Carla and Tasha, you know. But sometimes it's like I
- 51:34Speaker 1: have all of that if I want to do that.
- 51:35Speaker 1: So I'm okay over here, getting to watch TV whenever
- 51:37Speaker 1: I want to, and you know, cook when I want to.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Panica wanted to say to you because a lot of
- 51:43Speaker 1: times people label being single as being lonely. Yeah, I
- 51:54Speaker 1: don't want you to speak on that as well. Yeah,
- 51:56Speaker 1: because I've been exactly the Armonica exactly where you are. Absolutely, yeah, exactly,
- 52:03Speaker 1: and we shop for hours and forget to eat because
- 52:05Speaker 1: we were single. So now that you may surely where's
- 52:07Speaker 1: my shopping partner? You know? But now, but I was,
- 52:11Speaker 1: I have a long draw, you know, between a long
- 52:14Speaker 1: stretch long one. Yeah, but you're single, but you're not lonely, right,
- 52:18Speaker 1: So no, no, And our own boss says, I'm the
- 52:21Speaker 1: only person he knows that's happy to stay in the house,
- 52:23Speaker 1: and I truly am. When you find happiness within yourself,
- 52:27Speaker 1: you don't need anyone else, and you shouldn't be looking
- 52:29Speaker 1: for that in a partner anyway. If you're not happy,
- 52:32Speaker 1: you can't be happy in a relationship. Being single, like
- 52:35Speaker 1: Carla said, does not equate to loneliness. Like I have
- 52:38Speaker 1: everything I need in my home. I can take care
- 52:40Speaker 1: of myself. I just need someone if they're coming into
- 52:42Speaker 1: my life to compliment what I'm doing. I don't need
- 52:45Speaker 1: a savior. I don't need a sugar daddy. I don't
- 52:47Speaker 1: need this or that. You know, my daddy taught me,
- 52:50Speaker 1: don't ever call the sugar daddy, I'm you know, call
- 52:53Speaker 1: me so. I'm already happy. Yeah, I'm already happy. I
- 52:59Speaker 1: don't need a man to make me happy. Now, if
- 53:01Speaker 1: he wants to make me happier, come on in happy.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I'm not looking to you. Yeah, I'm not looking to
- 53:09Speaker 1: you to make me happy. I'm good, I'm happy, thank you. Yeah.
- 53:12Speaker 1: But I do believe the success is nothing without someone
- 53:15Speaker 1: you love to share with. Billy D Williams. And also, yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 1: I am my own woman. But listen, I know I
- 53:23Speaker 1: got some options out there, and I got my eyes
- 53:25Speaker 1: on a couple of things, and I got a couple
- 53:27Speaker 1: of things in the chamber. But I've been a widow
- 53:30Speaker 1: for a long time. But that don't mean today popping
- 53:33Speaker 1: over here. I know you have to get out of
- 53:35Speaker 1: our own way. We overthink situations sometimes we have to.
- 53:39Speaker 1: We overthink everything. All right, we're gonna come back. We're
- 53:42Speaker 1: gonna come back with the Strawberry letter. Look at the time,
- 53:45Speaker 1: do I give up my dreams from my marriages? The subject,
- 53:47Speaker 1: we'll get into it right after this. You're listening to
- 53:51Speaker 1: the show Happy International Women's Day. The ladies have taken
- 53:57Speaker 1: over the Mike Shirley Strawberry. That's me, Carla Farrell, that's her.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Cheryl Underwood, that is her right there, and Mississippi Monica
- 54:08Speaker 1: has joined us today. She's come from out of the
- 54:11Speaker 1: shadows into the light. I love it, Monica. We're so
- 54:14Speaker 1: happy to have you today. And Cheryl, of course, it's
- 54:17Speaker 1: always a pleasure. Carla. We ride or die every day,
- 54:21Speaker 1: every day we're here. We're here, we go both ways. Girl,
- 54:28Speaker 1: don't we all right? Crazy? I know, I think on that.
- 54:35Speaker 1: That's very progressive. It's progressive. All right, here we go.
- 54:43Speaker 1: All right, I gotta tell you about this. This is
- 54:45Speaker 1: exciting coming up married to medicine and ob GYN doctor
- 54:49Speaker 1: Jackie Walters will be joining us next hour to talk
- 54:53Speaker 1: about women's health and wellness, very important to us in
- 54:56Speaker 1: our community. But right now and to all women of course,
- 54:59Speaker 1: right now we're gonna switch gears because it is time
- 55:02Speaker 1: for the Strawberry Letter. Okay, time for the Strawberry Letter.
- 55:06Speaker 1: If you need advice on relationships, dating, work, sex, parenting,
- 55:09Speaker 1: and more, please submit your letter to Steve HARVEYFM dot
- 55:13Speaker 1: com and click submit Strawberry Letter. So, Cheryl, are you ready?
- 55:17Speaker 1: I'm ready? You know how we do it. I'll read
- 55:19Speaker 1: and give my response and you will go to break
- 55:22Speaker 1: come back, you give yours and we'll wrap this thing up.
- 55:24Speaker 1: This is a good one, though, a good one for
- 55:26Speaker 1: International Women's Day. Uh yeah, let's do that, because I'm
- 55:33Speaker 1: glad you wrote in we could be this could be
- 55:34Speaker 1: your letter right here that we're reading live. Go ahead,
- 55:37Speaker 1: Carl and do your thing. Girl, All right, here we go.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Buckle up and hold on tight. It's time for the
- 55:42Speaker 1: Strawberry Letter. We're Shirley Strawberry, Cheryl on the wood. Thank you,
- 55:49Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. International Day? Subject? Do
- 55:54Speaker 1: I give up my dreams for my marriage? Dear Stephen, Shirley.
- 55:59Speaker 1: I worked from home as a corporate sales leader for
- 56:03Speaker 1: five years. In February, I quit my job to do
- 56:06Speaker 1: a podcast with two of my best girlfriends. Let me
- 56:10Speaker 1: give you a little backstory. My husband and I met
- 56:12Speaker 1: in college and got married when we were twenty four
- 56:15Speaker 1: and started a family. We had our first child when
- 56:18Speaker 1: we were twenty five, and our second child on my
- 56:21Speaker 1: twenty seventh birthday. I have a degree in mass communications
- 56:25Speaker 1: and I've always wanted a radio job, which is why
- 56:28Speaker 1: I want your advice. My husband was always pushing me
- 56:32Speaker 1: to work towards my goals, but he reminded me that
- 56:35Speaker 1: I had two small children that need me. He has
- 56:38Speaker 1: excelled in his real estate company and he coaches a
- 56:42Speaker 1: little league football team for our county. We're now thirty
- 56:45Speaker 1: years old and I'm ready to pursue my dreams of
- 56:48Speaker 1: connecting with an audience. So I got my girlfriends and
- 56:51Speaker 1: we decided to start a podcast. My husband was supportive
- 56:55Speaker 1: until he realized I would be away from the home
- 56:58Speaker 1: two days a week. The lady and I had a
- 57:00Speaker 1: photo shoot one Saturday and it took six hours. My
- 57:04Speaker 1: husband was irritated when I got home because he had
- 57:07Speaker 1: the children all day and he had to run errands
- 57:10Speaker 1: with them. I deal with that all the time, so
- 57:13Speaker 1: I tuned out his complaining. We record the podcast in
- 57:16Speaker 1: a studio on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, so I'm usually
- 57:19Speaker 1: gone most of the day to get ready for the show,
- 57:22Speaker 1: and my husband has the kids. After only two short
- 57:25Speaker 1: weeks of me leaving him with the kids, he decided
- 57:28Speaker 1: that we needed to set up a home studio for
- 57:30Speaker 1: my podcast. I told him that I don't want to
- 57:33Speaker 1: do the podcast at home. I love getting a break
- 57:36Speaker 1: and the opportunity to work in peace and quiet. There's
- 57:40Speaker 1: so much tension at home. Now, do I give up
- 57:44Speaker 1: my dreams for my marriage? M Now, what do you
- 57:49Speaker 1: think we're gonna say this? Okay, especially on International Women's Day?
- 57:54Speaker 1: Absolutely not, Okay, that would be a big fat no.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Do not do that. Don't give up your dreams for anyone,
- 58:03Speaker 1: And don't let the fact that you have kids stop you.
- 58:05Speaker 1: I mean, Carl and I have kids. Women do it
- 58:08Speaker 1: all the time, all every day, all the time. You know.
- 58:11Speaker 1: It has to do with organization and how you juggle
- 58:14Speaker 1: and your support system all that. You can do this. Okay,
- 58:17Speaker 1: you've already done it. You can do it when like
- 58:19Speaker 1: I said, women do it all the day all the time.
- 58:22Speaker 1: And I was a single parent after my separation and
- 58:25Speaker 1: my divorce, I was a single parent. So you know
- 58:28Speaker 1: you've got a juggle. You can do it. I just
- 58:29Speaker 1: had help, all right, I had help. Your kids need
- 58:33Speaker 1: to see you. They need to see you working. They
- 58:36Speaker 1: need to see you passionate about what you're doing about life,
- 58:39Speaker 1: your career. Your husband is trying to guilt you, okay,
- 58:44Speaker 1: into doing it how he wants you to do it. Okay,
- 58:48Speaker 1: do a studio at home? Yeah, a lot of people
- 58:50Speaker 1: do podcasts at home, but you stayed it in the letter.
- 58:53Speaker 1: You don't want to do that. You want to get
- 58:55Speaker 1: out the house. And guess what? This is only for
- 58:57Speaker 1: two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday. He can't stay
- 59:01Speaker 1: with the kids two days a week. These are his
- 59:04Speaker 1: kids too. What the heck is he talking about here?
- 59:08Speaker 1: I don't understand. He needs to do his part. That
- 59:11Speaker 1: means taking care of the kids two days a week.
- 59:15Speaker 1: What is that? And they're his offspring? All right, this
- 59:20Speaker 1: shouldn't be a problem because he's doing so well as
- 59:23Speaker 1: his real estate business. You said that, right, So if
- 59:26Speaker 1: there's a problem, perhaps you know he can call in
- 59:29Speaker 1: help or something. Speak up for yourself, That's what I say.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Find your voice, Let your voice be heard in this marriage. Okay.
- 59:38Speaker 1: I hate it when people do this to each other.
- 59:40Speaker 1: I hate it when they get jealous or they get
- 59:42Speaker 1: intimidated or I don't like that. So you know, you
- 59:45Speaker 1: guys can work these things out. Just speak up for yourself, Cheryl,
- 59:48Speaker 1: go ahead. Well, I'm gonna need a whole another break,
- 59:52Speaker 1: so and I'm gonna need some backup, Carla Farrel, missive Monica.
- 59:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna need y'all in this because what I'm gonna
- 59:58Speaker 1: say in the next break it's all a about your husband.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: You need to wait till the other side of the break, Girl,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: International Women's Day. Oh I had I had a mute
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: myself because what I'm gonna say on the other side
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: of the break, and I'm gonna need back up because
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: women are now yelling at the radio right now going
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: say that. We are going to all say that and
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: empower this woman. It's your husband. Oh, I'm sorry, all right, Cheryl,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: hold that thought. Okay, We're gonna get to part two
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: of the Strawberry Letter with Cheryl Underwood's response at twenty
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: three minutes after the hour, the subject do I give
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: up my dreams for my marriage? We'll get back into
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: it right after this. You're listening to show, all right,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: come on, we're gonna recap the letter quickly, Cheryl. The
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: subject is do I give up my dreams from my marriage?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: A young lady wrote in she's thirty now. She wants
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: to do a podcast, but she has two kids, and
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: she does a podcast two two times a week. She
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: has a husband who's been with her all this time.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: They met in college, and everything he gets upset and
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: irritated when she goes out to do her her job,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: her podcast, because he doesn't like staying with his kids.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: So she he wants her to bring a studio, to
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: build a studio in their home so she won't have
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: to leave. That's one of the reasons she's leaving because
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: she wants a break. Two days a week. There are
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: seven days in a week. The other five days she's
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: got the kids, sir. So anyway, that's that's pretty much
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: the gist of this letter, Cheryl. So you say what,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: she's a hostage. Get out as fast as you can,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: your hostage them, your kids them, not dude kids. Put
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: them kids right in his lap, peas and carts everything
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: and let him see because see, he been out slaying dragons,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: he went out doing real estate and everything, and she's
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: been holding it down and he wants to keep her there.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: She has dreams. You can have a happy marriage and
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: have dreams. And I want to know what's he liked
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: that in college because some of us we you know,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: we go out for that happily ever after and we're
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: married to do and he doesn't evolve, but we have
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: evolved and we're ready to do some more things. But
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: you want me to stay over him, be a hostage.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: What you mean a couple of hours which your kids?
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: We went half on a baby. These are your kids.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: You need to keep these kids. And this podcast, one
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: of my podcasts, blow up and I'm worth hundreds of
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: millions of dollars, then you're gonna want to come over
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: here and do something with somebody. Sister. Let me just
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: tell you something. I know you love him. I know
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: you love it. See I thought about that should describe here,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: But I don't believe in divorce. I believe until death
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: do us part you first, because I ain't going nowhere.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I got married in front of my friends. I got
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: half a cake in the freezer. This is not the
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: end of this relationship. Sometimes, Cheryl, Oh, listen, you're talking
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: to a widow. You're talking to something about it else
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: you tell somebody, yeah, right over right over at Callahan's
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: on Sandy First and Halsted. I know where my husband
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: got laid to rest fare you well, I pity the food,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: but for this right here, and I want I want Carla,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I want you to come jump in this, and Monica,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I want you to jumping this because listen, we love
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: our men and especially when we meet them young, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: we have these hopes and these dreams, and they make
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: it seem like I'm gonna do this, and then you
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: gonna go get choice, and then when I go to
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: try to get mine, you make it seem like you don't.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: You don't. Forgot on the snuggle tip what we were
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: talking about over at the Zanz the Bar in the
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: fifteen minute, did I say too much off Stony Island?
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: It came out. It did right right across street from
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Sweet Georgia Brown shout out right. But I'm telling you
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: we all failed for this. Where the dude was we
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: were talking about what we gonna do together, but really
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: he was talking about what he was gonna do for himself.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: And then when I've done my part and I want
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: to get out in the world and see about my
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: dreams and I don't want to lose my family because
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I love you, and then you show me who you are?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Is that the man that I fell in love with?
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Carli Parell, you say what absolutely, Cheryl, I agree with
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: you one hundred percent. I agree with what Shirley is
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: saying one hundred percent. I mean, this woman has a
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: degree in mass communications, and so do I I have
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: a degree in mass communication. So she went to school
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: for this. This is her passion, this is her dream.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: And you mean to tell me that she's looking at
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: her husband, her man, as a dream killer, your dream crushing.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: We are as one when we get married, We are
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: as one, our union are as one. You should be
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: right there with me. I'm right there with you, supporting you,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: and you should be right there with me. Support team
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: my dreams, and support team your wife and your kids.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Like you're doing me a face watching the kids. These
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: are your kids too. You need to be a part
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: of it. Yeah. Yeah, I got set up for an
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: oaky dog. You like to me, that's what happened, and
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: that's the issues he should be. But the reality is
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: he's not. He should be, you know, that's what we
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: signed up for. Go ahead, Monica. Well, in my situation,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: I was in a similar situation when I got when
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: I started working with you guys, I was working from
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: home for six years and it was fine with the
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: guy was dating because I was home during the day
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: and you know, we could run around and play and
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: you know, but I had to go to work now
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, well, that job is too demanding
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: and you're there too long, and you know, I'm like, okay,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: but this is what I chose to do. So it's
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: like you either find you something to do or you know,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: we can't see each other. And then you know the
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: stress of him always well why are you always gone?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: And why are you dressing? Why are you doing this?
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: And why are you doing that? Now you're traveling. It
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: just fell by the wayside because I lost interest in
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: the constant need for him to control where I was,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: why I wanted to do that. He was very insecure,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: and then I was around you guys who are radio
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: my coins and legends and oh what you must like
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: this and you must like that? Yes, yes I do.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: So you know I'm not gonna don't play any of
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: that or for you know, push anything I want to
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: do to the wayside for him. So he finally he
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: kind of got the clue and well, can I say that.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I really can't say this because I want to say this.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I believe in marriage, and I believe if I'm not
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: an asset to my man and my family, then I
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: will remove myself. I think there is some discussion to
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: be had, but he is going to have to understand
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: this is her time now. And if you are really
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: the man that she fell in love and who she married,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: and the father of the children and the head of
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the household, then be a man stand by your one
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: when to her dream because you've been doing your dream
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: and she's been supporting you. All right, this calls for
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: a part three. I think of the Strawberry Letter. Today.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: We're gonna continue this conversation. Please, this is international. We
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: could do it were run the MinC today, right, this
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: is International Woman's Day. We'll be back right after this.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: You're listening to all right. This kind of sparked a conversation.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: We were having it before we went to break and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: off the air as well. It had something to do
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: with the Strawberry Letter? Do I give up my dreams
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: for my marriage? And Cheryl? I think when we left
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: off you were saying you were telling her, don't let
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: her husband be a dream killer. These are her dreams.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: She wanted to see them come to fruition. Otherwise you're
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: living in a nightmare. I'm sorry if you don't get
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: to live out your dreams and the things you have
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: in your heart, your purpose and all of that, your
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: goals because someone is trying to hold you down. And
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: the person you would not think that would be doing that,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: your husband. You're the closest person to you. You know,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: there's a problem that that's a nightmare. That is a nightmare.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: And that's what that's what I called a relationship. Okay, dope,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: because when we was falling in love, we're talking about
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: all these things we were gonna do together, all these
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: things you agree with and maybe you can do this,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: and I'm gonna help you do this. Now. I think
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: he even tried to I think he tried to soften
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: about Okay, we're gonna make a studio in the house.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: But that still ties me to the house you're not
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: to get out of. And she deserves that, and she
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: deserves two days a week out of seven. You can't
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: handle your kids two days a week. That you know?
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I think that you also beautiful? Don't you agree? No matter?
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I mean, let me just say, marriage is work. Yes,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: marriage is work, but it's a two way street. It's
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: a two way street. My husband is a mortgage alone officer,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: you know, for Wells Fargo, and he has a very
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: demanding job too. I have a job. I have a
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: very demanding job. So we come together as one as
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: building our empire, our dreams. What do you want? What
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: do you want? And we come together as one to
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: try to press sue our dreams, to grow our emprior
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: to grow our family. What are our long term goals?
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: What are your short term goals? So for him as
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: her king, as her husband, to just basically tell her no, no, no,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: that is a serious that is a serious problem. And
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: marriage is about compromise, right, And let me say this,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: this happened. Not to interrupt your color, but this happens
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: way more than we think. Okay, this goes on in
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: marriages all the time, all the time, you know. And
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: it's always us, the women who usually take the backseat.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: And you know, we have that mommy guilt. Every mom
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: has it. We have that guilt. We want to be
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: there for the kids and do what's right for the kids.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: And like you say, this is a compromise. It's supposed
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: to be a compromise, each person, you know, having the
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: other's back, supporting each other and all of that. And
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: that's why I tell her to find her voice and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: speak up, keep ignoring this man, keep doing and don't
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: do it disrespectfully, But do you books, then Yo kids too.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: We went half. This is fun, ladies, but we got
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: to switch gears here. Coming up at the top of
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: the hour, we're gonna switch and talk to doctor Jackie Walters.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: She's going to be our special guest. We're going to
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: talk about women's health right after this. You're listening to
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: the Steven Show, all right. Our special guest is an
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: ob gyn breast cancer survivor, television personality and author of
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: The Queen V and she is joining us today. We're
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: so happy that she's here to discuss women's health and
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: all that that encompasses. We will also dive into her
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: best selling book, Queen VU. Emphasis on the V if
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Wink wink, please welcome to
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: the show, our friend. We love her so much, Doctor
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Jackie Walters. Ladies, lady, thank you, thank you, thank you,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: thank you. Oh my god, I'm so honored to stay
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: with these beautiful women. Oh my god. It is definitely
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: our pleasure, doctor Jackie, it really really is. Thank you
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: for taking the time. Our health is so important, and
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: especially the health of black women in our community. As
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: we celebrate International Women's Day, We're gonna start it off
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: this way. And then we'll get into some health questions,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Doctor Jackie. Season eight of Bravo's hit show Married to Medicine,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: where we all first learned about you and met you
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: and everything. Well, that show kicked off last night. This
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: is your eighth season doing the show. You also appeared
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: with Andy Cohen and Kenya Moore on Watch What Happens
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Live on Bravo. Tell us about it, tell us about
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: season eight. What can we expect now? The truth? This
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: season is probably the most impactful season ever for me
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: because we got in there, we did COVID texting, we
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: got into the Black Matter movement, we went to the
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: March on Washington and actually did COVID testing there. So
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: this season was like the mission of all missions for me,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: so I fairly enjoyed it. It was weird because we
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: had to wear mad We still had the girlfriend drama.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: You saw what happened when the white coat came home.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: That's what we love, because that's what we love. Yes,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: we love that. We love you know that you guys
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: are so professional in the office and you handle your
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: business and you're such strong, intelligent, educated, beautiful women. But then,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: like you say, when you take those white coats on
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Okay Okay baby, and this year I'm caught in between
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: two friends. I love Golden doctor Samal and I'm smack
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: dab in the middle of the miss Oh wow. Well,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: only only you can handle that. Only you can handle it.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: And I know sometimes it takes a toll. It does
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: take a toll when you're dealing with yes, but yeah
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: they are. So I'm sorry, sir that there's two. They're
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: totally two, totally different person nationality. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's crazy,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: it's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. So you are a breast cancer
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: survivor and you've been very open and transparent about your
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: journey with breast cancer. We're all about early detection on
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the show, so let's talk about that for a moment,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Doctor Jackie. So I'm an early time breast cancer survivor,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: and you know my line is your greatest wealth in
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: life is your health, and you have to take it yourself.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I have a whole new campaign that I'm starting because
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: black women are forty two percent more likely to die
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: from breast cancer than a Caucasian woman. So my story
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: to every woman in the office is if we're dying more,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: we should be doing more. And that I'm like get
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: your Mamma Graham. Let's start very simple. Do a chelf
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: breast exam every moment. Know your family history. We offer
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: genetic testing in the office now so you can know
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: if you carry any gene that would predispose you to
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: grasp colon overy, pancreatic. So we're telling women, know your
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: family history, make sure you're doing your self breast exam.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: And now I'm about to step up some tols. And
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: you are what you eat. So I'm a big advocate
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: on eating live. If you didn't kill her to grow
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: in chair l because I'm gonna say I didn't, No, no,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: because she started with the charl and she started with
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: the chef and I know my AKA sorrow was not
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: coming over. Was like it wasn't but I knew what
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: you were saying. I know what you were saying, But
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: she was really talking about schel describe berries. Hey, listen,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: doctor Jackie. We gotta take a quick breakcare. We're gonna
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: come back with more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: on this International Women's Day. Our special guests, the Beautiful,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: the Lovely, the Talented doctor Jackie Walters. Right after this,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: you're listening to the Stave Morning Show. All right, here
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: we are back on this International Women's Day with our
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Women's Day Show. Okay, it's all about women today, women's health, everything.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: We've talked about it all and it wouldn't be complete without.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: We're just gonna call you our friend, our girlfriend because
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: we love you like that. Doctor Jackie. Yeah, all right,
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: doctor Jackie Walters. You know her from Married to Medicine.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: They just premiered season eight on Bravo last night. She
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: has a book out called The Queen V. We'll get
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: into that as well. When we were leaving, you were
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: talking about you being a two time breast cancer survivor
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: and you the last thing you said was you are
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: what you eat. Garbage in, garbage out. Yeah. Just encourage
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: every woman, especially women of color, to make sure you're
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: doing your age appropriate testing. If you're forty years old
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: or older, you should be getting a mammogram. Make sure
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you're going to get that. You should fight for that.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: You know, screening mamograms are covered on the most plans,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: so please get early. Detection is your best protection. So
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: I want to tell everybody you know, Keemo, radiation doublem
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: mispect to me is not a lot of fun. So
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: if you can catch it early, of course, you can
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: definitely extend to your life span. So please go get
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: your testing and can't do a girlfriend thing where we
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: all take each other like you gotta go get your mamogram,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: but you're afraid. We should wear a limo, you know,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: and go take each other to the mammogram and then
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: have salad afterwards. Nothing is killed in the making of
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: the salad. That's right, all right, doctor Jackie, We're want
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: to take another quick break. We'll be back. We have
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: more questions for you. We'll be back on the Steve
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show on this International Women's Day right after this.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: You're listening to show. We're back with doctor Jackie Walters,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: our special guests this morning. This is International Women's Day.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: We're talking about women's health. To doctor Jackie Walters, you
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: have been vaccinated and I had my first round of
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: the vaccination myself. So what is the message for our
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: females out there about getting vaccinated? Great questions. Again. Again,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna stick with women of color because it's impacting
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: us definitely distroportunately. More, we are two point nine times
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: more likely to die from COVID. So we're telling women. Please,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: if you are a woman of color and you can
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: have your vaccine, please get it. It doesn't matter about it.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: And you know, the big thing is do I get spizer?
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Do I get mad? Do I get J? And J
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: get a vaccine? Right? I'm telling her everybody that because
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: to watch pregnant women come into the hospital where they
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: can't breathe and they're separated from their baby for a
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: short period of time, or they're very ill and they
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: have to go to qu is heartbreaking. So I'm telling
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: everybody we're ready to get back to norm, but let's
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: please take out time get your vaccine. It's not live virus.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: That's what I want everybody to know. It's not a
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: live virus that you're getting. So you're not going to
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: get COVID from getting the vaccination. Yeah, we're gonna make antibody,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: so it's covid. The live virus entered your body from contact.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Then your immune system is ready to fight it off.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: So it's like an army, right, So I'm begging everybody,
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: get your vaccine. Ain't don you get sick. And if
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: you have a really severe immune response, you may feel
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: a little achy or something. Your arm was four but
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I didn't feel anything. I was mad. I wanted my
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: arm to be four like day too, but it was okay.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: But I want to Cheryl Schryl, you got a question
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: for doctor Jackie. Well, I had a question and a
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: comment real quick. But I got a questioned by my
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: love life doctor Jackie that only you can set me
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: up what's going to be. But we need to make
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: sure it's mobile and people know where they can get
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: the vaccine because people don't have transportation to get it.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: But but I'm glad you shouting that out. But doctor Jacket,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I have a love question. I have a workplace for
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: romance with Junior and we will be married, okay, And
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I want to keep the excitement in our marriage. I
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: want to take the passion that we have in our
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: courtship all the way through to our marriage. So besides
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: having sex, what are good ways to connect with your partner,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: especially during this time because we're still in the pandemic.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: And I want to send my expression of passion and
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: sex and hot mucking love to Julia. What would you recommend?
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Knowing that you had to Queen share all, okay, speak
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: to me, Queen V. If you are not living in
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: the house with your partner. I would encourage you, guys
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: to both be attested frequently. Doctor Jackie, thank you. We
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: know you have patience to get to you have a
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: full day of work today and we just love you
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: and thank you so much for taking the time. And
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Happy International Women's Day to you. Thank you, saying thank
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: you you guys. We'll see you, Cheryl. Okay, thank you,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: my aka. It's all raight, all right, guys, coming up
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: at forty nine minutes after the hour, we'll have some
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: tell me something good news for you, and don't forget
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: this is International Women's Day right after this you're listening
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: to show. Wow, we're at the end of the day
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: already for this show. That's so much fun. I know,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you know that's the saying yeah when you're having fun.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: That's as the saying goes yeah. And we're gonna end
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: on this note. Guys, it's time for tell me something
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: good news. Uh Shaka Khan Idina Menzel remake, I'm every

- 1:21:13Speaker 1: women and girls around the world. Here's a little snippet.

- 1:21:54Speaker 1: I want to shout out Masa Mayor Keisha Lands Bottoms
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: of the Great City of Atlanta. She had a rough
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: weekend together. Yes, they had the all Start weekend in
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Atlanta and mayn Bottom said, don't come here. They came anyway,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: but we dealt with it. We're gonna be strong in
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: the struggle. Let me tell you what Shaka Khan said
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: in a statement. She said, I'm so thrilled to be
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: a part of this hopeful celebration of strength for International
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Women's Day. Our version of I'm every Woman is a
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: beautiful recognition of the power and every woman, especially the
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: heroes on the front lines who have been working tirelessly
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: this past year to keep us safe and healthy. You
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: can watch the hashtag I'm every Woman music video on
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: care dot org slash every woman. Wow, yes, profound, thank you.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: That's right. Um, were we gonna shout out the vaccine?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: When were earlier? We were talking about the vaccine? What's
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: the doctor name? Uh yeah, doctor sister. Yes it is yes,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: it is yes, it is yes. Yes. This was fun
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: to day. You had a good time. Cheryl and I
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: have you got to get out of here. Girl. Oh
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: we gotta go. Okay, I gotta go. You and Monica talk,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Oh yes, the Talk and Monica we have to meet
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: like this so I you know, I give you our
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: kudos for doing this daily. I just like to smile
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: and watch you out. Did a great job. You did great. Yes,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: you did a great job. Monica, thank you so much.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: And Cheryl, you're right, you will be on the Talk today.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: You don't want to miss Cheryl on the Talk. And
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: of course Cheryl is with us every Thursday. Every Thursday,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: we are with Junior and you guys are part of it. Right. Yes,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: today we had the sign on the door that said
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: no boys allowed. Right, yes, yes, yes, yes, boys back
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: in town. But okay, I gotta show out a question.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Oh okay, you go first early because you I was
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: gonna ask you. I was gonna guess, I was gonna
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: ask you. Did you learn anything today? You know what
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: I learned. I learned when powerful women come together, we
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: can do powerful things. I learned that the h this
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: might have to be a second show, maybe on the
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: weekend or something. We just get together. Um, and I
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: do understand the power of radio. That's why we had
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: something called Black Radio Solidarity dot Com where we talk
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: about businesses, we talk about vaccinations and things like that.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: We have to use the power, especially a black radio,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: to advance certain causes. If we can sell product, if
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: we can sell culture, then we can save a democracy.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: And we did all of those things through the power
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: of black radio and black media. So I'm thinking you
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: all for allowing me to be part of this with
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: you ladies today. And I love being part of the
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show family. I love being part of
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: the Cheryl, Like we said, we wouldn't do it without you.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: We couldn't see ourselves doing without you. Right, let's have
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: a we shan't have a political round type because there's
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: so much we need to talk about, Like we need
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: to talk about how Trump need to never come back
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: and do anything. We need to lay that, yes, and
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: more than that. Next year, we have to get ready
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: for the mid terms. That's right. Yeah, this never stops.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I mean, we did what we had to do for
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: this past election last year, but we have They're They're
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: always going to keep coming, so we always have to
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: know what's going on. We cannot rest on our laurels.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: All right, this is a fight and we are in
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: it to win it for sure, you know. And I
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: just want to say thank you to Shirley and Carla
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: for taking me in as a propical child. It's just
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: everything I need to know, and it's still so much
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: more to know. And they've just been patient and just
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: forgiving of all of my little radio mistakes. And I
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: just love these girls. I love you to share them
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: because I've learned as well your professionalism. Thank you. I'm
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: just among the great group of ladies and I really
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: appreciate you. But you know what, before I go, I
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: could not have done anything that I'm doing if I
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: had not been here, because I learned from you, ladies.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: And then when I put together certain things podcasts and
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: things like that, you know, I'm looking at who are
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: my trailblazers and ready on this you ladies right here?
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: But Monica, what I need to know? Where were we
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: were there? One time we were in Jackson and we
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: had such a good time. And why did the mayor
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: Jackson look like Drake? What's happening? Girl power? All right?
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: We want to thank you all. Happy international women today.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Uh you know, love on women, okay, because we certainly
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: love you. Empower each other, love on each other, don't hate. Okay,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: that's that's so old. Yes, that's empower our future women
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: are yes, little girl for sure, Yes, yes, yeah everyone everyone,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Thank you guys. Love bye. I'm always allowed to No boys,
