The Rich think a thing but the poor know better...Proverbs 28: 11 · Life For Toledo

  thinking today of Proverbs 28-11 where it says,

  the rich man is wise in his own eyes,

  but the poor who have understanding sees through him.

  The fact is it's really easy for people to think they've got it all together.
• 0:14
  They will think everything is okay. Even they may judge themselves or think that
• 0:18
  they're bad or wicked or that their life is not going the way that it should go.
• 0:22
  And basically they're taking the place of God because of their wealth,
• 0:25
  because of their success, they think that they have the ability to
• 0:30
  make those determinations. And they're frankly wrong.
• 0:33
  Those of us who are poor in spirit, we're going to inherit much,
• 0:37
  but the bottom line is being poor sometimes opens your mind to realize that
• 0:42
  you don't have everything and you don't need everything.
• 0:46
  You have what you need and that's the wisdom of life. Trying to be wealthy,
• 0:50
  trying to make $900 an hour by some kind of side job,
• 0:53
  or trying to collect millions or own lots of property in this lifetime,
• 0:57
  these things are not necessary. What we do with this lifetime is about serving others.

  Jesus said, the greatest amongst us shall be your servant.
• 1:04
  And so we have the opportunity to serve others and make a difference in this will
• 1:08
  and that's what we really ought to be about. And sometimes you find folks who aren't rich
• 1:12
  who have figured that out and I think that's what this verse is about.
• 1:15
  So let's live as if we've figured out what this life is really about,
• 1:18
  not collecting wealth, but living, valuing what Jesus has done for us
• 1:22
  and what we might do for others. God bless you today.
