- 0:02Speaker 1: That Maduro offered everything in his country, all the natural resources.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He even recorded a message to you in English recently
- 0:10Speaker 1: offering mediation. He has. He has offered everything. He's offered everything.
- 0:16Speaker 2: You're right, you know why, because he doesn't want to
- 0:19Speaker 2: walk around with the United States.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Thank everybody.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning to you. Ben Ferguson with you, and
- 0:29Speaker 4: these are some of the stories that you may have
- 0:31Speaker 4: missed that we talked about this week on the forty
- 0:33Speaker 4: seven Morning Update. First up, an incredible moment at the
- 0:37Speaker 4: White House where Charlie Kirk was honored with the highest
- 0:40Speaker 4: civilian honor that you can get. It was a moment
- 0:43Speaker 4: to remember Charlie Kirk and also to honor his life
- 0:47Speaker 4: and his legacy. You'll also hear from Senator Cruz and
- 0:51Speaker 4: what he had to say about that day in the
- 0:53Speaker 4: Rose Garden. Also President United States America Donald Trump, not
- 0:58Speaker 4: wasting any time going after the car cartels, taking out
- 1:01Speaker 4: more boats in international water that are filled with drugs,
- 1:04Speaker 4: and now talking about going after targets that are on land.
- 1:09Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Right now story number one.
- 1:14Speaker 4: It was a very moving moment at the White House.
- 1:17Speaker 4: It was not covered like the memorial for Charlie Kirk,
- 1:21Speaker 4: but it was a day that we should all pause
- 1:24Speaker 4: and listen to what was said at the White House.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Donald Trump awarded Charlie Kirk the Medal of Freedom on
- 1:31Speaker 4: what would have been his thirty second birthday. President Trump
- 1:36Speaker 4: had a lot to say about Charlie, and here is
- 1:39Speaker 4: part of what he had to say about who he was.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But it was a horrible, heinous, demonic act of murder.
- 1:48Speaker 2: He was assassinated in the prime of his life for
- 1:52Speaker 2: boldly speaking the truth, for living his faith and relentlessly
- 1:56Speaker 2: fighting for a better and stronger America. Loved this country
- 2:00Speaker 2: and that's why this afternoon, it's my.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Privilege to posthumously.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Award Charles James Kirk our nation's highest civilian honor, the
- 2:10Speaker 2: Presidential Medal of Freedom.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:15Speaker 4: You think about the legacy of Charlie Kirk. The most
- 2:18Speaker 4: powerful man in the world and the most powerful men
- 2:22Speaker 4: and women in our government, our cabinet members all sitting
- 2:26Speaker 4: at the White House talking about the life, the legacy,
- 2:31Speaker 4: and the faith of Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump also said
- 2:35Speaker 4: this about Charlie Kirk being a martyr, someone who will
- 2:39Speaker 4: always be remembered.
- 2:42Speaker 2: As I said on the day that he was assassinated,
- 2:45Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth and for freedom,
- 2:50Speaker 2: and from Socrates to Think and to Saint Peter, from
- 2:54Speaker 2: Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, those who change history
- 2:59Speaker 2: the most, and he really did have always risked their
- 3:03Speaker 2: lives for causes they were put on earth to defend.
- 3:06Speaker 1: He was put on earth to do exactly what he
- 3:09Speaker 1: was doing. He didn't want to waste time.
- 3:11Speaker 2: He would have been a top student at any college
- 3:14Speaker 2: in the country I know to college as well. Was
- 3:16Speaker 2: smarter than the guys. He was so smart. But he
- 3:19Speaker 2: almost I guess, didn't have the time. He knew what
- 3:22Speaker 2: he wanted to do. It wasn't like Jae, I want
- 3:24Speaker 2: to sit in this classroom for four years listening to
- 3:26Speaker 2: people teach me liberal principles because they were never going
- 3:29Speaker 2: to teach him that anyway. But he didn't have the time.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He really didn't have the time. But every time the
- 3:35Speaker 2: enemies of goodness and virtue tried to silence the voice
- 3:38Speaker 2: of righteous and noble leaders like Charlie, they failed. They
- 3:42Speaker 2: seemed to fail. Ultimately, they look like they're doing well
- 3:45Speaker 2: and then they end up failing because the truth has
- 3:48Speaker 2: been unrelenting over the years, over history, and people like Charlie,
- 3:54Speaker 2: it's just they've got a power that others don't have,
- 3:58Speaker 2: and very few people will ever have. So today, like
- 4:02Speaker 2: those martyrs before him, Charlie's voice, his message, and his
- 4:05Speaker 2: legacy are stronger and greater than ever before.
- 4:09Speaker 1: They are greater than ever before.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth and freedom. When
- 4:18Speaker 4: you think about his life, and it was a short life,
- 4:22Speaker 4: you look at now who he's being compared to, as
- 4:26Speaker 4: the President described him as someone that will be remembered
- 4:30Speaker 4: like Saint Peter, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King. Those are
- 4:35Speaker 4: people who change history the most, and referring to Charlie Kirk,
- 4:38Speaker 4: he said he really did. They risked their lives for
- 4:42Speaker 4: causes that they were put on earth to defend, and
- 4:45Speaker 4: that's exactly what Charlie Kirk was doing. The President also
- 4:50Speaker 4: saying this about America and Charlie Kirk's love for this country.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Al's James Kirk was a visionary and one of the
- 4:59Speaker 2: greatest years of his generation. He was truly an amazing
- 5:03Speaker 2: figure and growing leaps and vows. He knew that the
- 5:07Speaker 2: fight to preserve our heritage is waged not.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Only on the battlefield and in.
- 5:11Speaker 2: The halls of power, of which we have tremendous power here,
- 5:16Speaker 2: including the head of a place called war we called
- 5:20Speaker 2: now war. We had defense, we had our secretary of defense.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Now we have his Secretary of War. And somehow I
- 5:28Speaker 2: think it's more emblematic, and hopefully we'll never have to
- 5:30Speaker 2: use war. But the fact that we're ready is very good.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Peace through strength is very important. But also in the
- 5:36Speaker 2: hearts of our nation's youth. That's where Charlie Road's strongest
- 5:41Speaker 2: at age eighteen. That inside inspired Charlie to found the
- 5:45Speaker 2: organization that ultimately touched the lives of millions and millions
- 5:49Speaker 2: of people, and so many young people that nobody's ever
- 5:54Speaker 2: seen anything like it. Frankly, turning point USA. It's amazing,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and it's actually bigger now. It's become bigger in the
- 6:02Speaker 2: last few weeks, and Charlie ever thought, I think his
- 6:08Speaker 2: end vision in many years from now would have been
- 6:11Speaker 2: just a fraction of what had turned out to be
- 6:12Speaker 2: in a couple of weeks or it's amazing with hard
- 6:16Speaker 2: work and joyful spirit and endless and enthusiasm and determination.
- 6:22Speaker 2: And he did have great enthusiasm. You know, I say
- 6:24Speaker 2: you need enthusiasm to be successful.
- 6:26Speaker 1: He had great enthusiasm.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Charlie grew Turning Point into the largest conservative youth organization
- 6:32Speaker 2: in the entire country. He forged a personal bond with
- 6:35Speaker 2: countless young conservatives. He fought for free speech, religious liberty,
- 6:40Speaker 2: strong borders, and a very strong and proud America. In
- 6:44Speaker 2: everything he did, he put America first. He really put
- 6:48Speaker 2: America first. And ultimately, Charlie, he became more than a
- 6:53Speaker 2: leader of an important organization. He became the leader of
- 6:56Speaker 2: historic movements all over the country that will moves individual movements,
- 7:01Speaker 2: one movement, but it was historic.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Everything he did was historic.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Everything he did was historic. An incredible day at the
- 7:11Speaker 4: White House on honor. That was a moment that was needed.
- 7:16Speaker 4: It will hopefully be a moment that his parents and
- 7:20Speaker 4: his wife and his children will have forever and never forget. Now.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Story number two, Donald Trump, after the doxing of ice agents,
- 7:29Speaker 4: is obviously not going to sit around and allow the
- 7:32Speaker 4: cartels to put bounties on our men and women in uniform,
- 7:35Speaker 4: our men and women protecting our border, our law enforcement officers,
- 7:39Speaker 4: and think they can just get away with it, as
- 7:41Speaker 4: they're now going to war with us. What is President
- 7:44Speaker 4: Trump doing now, Well, he's next looking quote at land
- 7:48Speaker 4: in Latin America, after the US military has conducted at
- 7:52Speaker 4: least five fatal strikes against alleged drug boats in the
- 7:57Speaker 4: Caribbean since September alone. Quote, we are certainly looking at
- 8:02Speaker 4: land now because we've got to see very well under control,
- 8:06Speaker 4: Trump told reporters on Wednesday. We've had a couple of
- 8:09Speaker 4: days where there isn't a boat to be found, and
- 8:12Speaker 4: I view that as a good thing, not a bad thing.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Trump said he wasn't interested in having the Coastguard simply
- 8:19Speaker 4: stop the elected drug boats because quote, we've been doing
- 8:22Speaker 4: that for thirty years and it has been totally ineffective.
- 8:27Speaker 4: They referring to the cartels have faster boats. Some of
- 8:31Speaker 4: these boats are seriously, I mean they're world class speedboats,
- 8:34Speaker 4: Trump said, But they're not faster than missiles. But we've
- 8:39Speaker 4: been trying to do that for years. The White House
- 8:42Speaker 4: has not responded to requests for comment about what this
- 8:46Speaker 4: means and details of the nature of a land operation
- 8:49Speaker 4: that Trump is considering. Additionally, Trump confirmed that he is
- 8:53Speaker 4: also and this is big news, authorized the CIA to
- 8:58Speaker 4: conduct covert operations in Venezuela after The New York Times
- 9:04Speaker 4: reported on Wednesday that he had approved the order. According
- 9:08Speaker 4: to Trump, he did so because Venezuela has released prisoners
- 9:12Speaker 4: into the US and that drugs were coming into the
- 9:16Speaker 4: US from Venezuela via maritime channels. Trump declined to answer though,
- 9:21Speaker 4: when asked if the CIA had the authority to quote
- 9:24Speaker 4: unquote takeout the Venezuelan president Maduro. He's nothing more than
- 9:29Speaker 4: a drug kingpin in that country. The Trump administration has
- 9:33Speaker 4: said it does not recognize Madua as a legitimate head
- 9:36Speaker 4: of state, but a leader of a drug cartel. Quote.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I don't want to answer a question like that, Trump said,
- 9:43Speaker 4: that's a ridiculous question for me to be given. Not
- 9:46Speaker 4: really a ridiculous question, But wouldn't it be a ridiculous
- 9:49Speaker 4: question for me to answer? But I think Venezuela is
- 9:52Speaker 4: feeling heat now. The Trump administration has adopted a hard
- 9:56Speaker 4: line approach to address the flow of drugs into the US,
- 10:00Speaker 4: and designated drug cartel groups like the Trende Ragua, Sineloa,
- 10:05Speaker 4: and other cartels as foreign terrorist organizations doing this back
- 10:10Speaker 4: in February. Additionally, the White House sent lawmakers a memo
- 10:15Speaker 4: as well September thirtieth dated, informing them that the US
- 10:20Speaker 4: is now participating in a non international armed conflict with
- 10:26Speaker 4: drug smugglers. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have
- 10:30Speaker 4: also voiced quote concerns over the legality of the strikes.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Senator Adam Shift, a Democrat who's never met a drug
- 10:37Speaker 4: dealer he didn't like, and Tim Kaine, the Democrat from Virginia,
- 10:41Speaker 4: have filed a war powers resolution to bar US forces
- 10:46Speaker 4: from engaging in hostilities against certain non state organizations, again
- 10:52Speaker 4: defending the drug cartels that are killing Americans. The resolution
- 10:56Speaker 4: failed in the Senate by a fifty one to forty
- 10:58Speaker 4: eight margin. October eighth. Republican Ran Paul of Kentucky and
- 11:03Speaker 4: Lisa murkowskive Alaska voted alongside their Democratic counterparts in the resolution.
- 11:09Speaker 4: When asked about lawmakers' concerns about the legality of the strikes,
- 11:13Speaker 4: Donald Trump dismissed them and said that lawmakers were informed
- 11:17Speaker 4: the vessels carried drugs quote, but they are given information
- 11:23Speaker 4: that they were loaded up with drugs. And that's the
- 11:26Speaker 4: thing that matters. The President said, when they're loaded up
- 11:29Speaker 4: with drugs, their fair game, and every one of those
- 11:32Speaker 4: ships were and they're not ships, their boats that were
- 11:36Speaker 4: loaded up with drugs. So the President of United States
- 11:39Speaker 4: of America making it very clear he's not going to
- 11:42Speaker 4: sit around and wait for more Americans to be killed
- 11:46Speaker 4: by accidental overdoses from fetnel. He's not going to wait
- 11:50Speaker 4: around while cartels are putting bounties on our American law
- 11:54Speaker 4: enforcement heads. He's going to war with these cartels because
- 11:58Speaker 4: he has designated this as terrorists organizations and this is
- 12:03Speaker 4: exactly what so many conservatives voted for in the last
- 12:07Speaker 4: presidential election.
