- 1:16Speaker 1: goal setting, self care and more. Phenomenal Please work with
- 1:21Speaker 1: the money making conversations. Kim cos Well a shot. I'm
- 1:25Speaker 1: happy to be with you right now. You're people well,
- 1:29Speaker 1: good for you know, I appreciate the compliment because when
- 1:32Speaker 1: I see what you're doing with your brain. First of all,
- 1:35Speaker 1: you know, following on LinkedIn, following on social media and
- 1:38Speaker 1: on LinkedIn, you know you look beautiful. You look beautiful. Okay, okay,
- 1:44Speaker 1: you know that? What what? What? What you want to
- 1:46Speaker 1: talk about? It's about branding and presenting yourself in a
- 1:49Speaker 1: successful look and upbeat look. Because of the fact that
- 1:53Speaker 1: you're a motivator and and and this business, you have
- 1:56Speaker 1: to look a certain way to talk a certain way.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Let's talk about your brain in and what you're presenting
- 2:01Speaker 1: out there in the entremreneural space. Let's talk about that first. Well, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, right now, I've been talking a lot about uh,
- 2:11Speaker 1: pivot on purpose, how to pivot on purpose? And as
- 2:14Speaker 1: we're recording this, as you know, we're in the midst
- 2:17Speaker 1: of this, uh, you know, a lot of upheaval, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 1: with a pandemic and racial unrest and all the civil
- 2:24Speaker 1: unrest and everything that is fair and unfair happening in
- 2:27Speaker 1: the world. And more than ever, we need to pivot
- 2:30Speaker 1: on purpose. And the way you do that is you,
- 2:34Speaker 1: you know, look at your gifts and talents and uh
- 2:39Speaker 1: and and look for ways to express them given the
- 2:44Speaker 1: current situation, so you look for opportunity. There's a brand
- 2:48Speaker 1: new perspective and so my brand and I'm so proud
- 2:52Speaker 1: of it. You know, back in the day, we weren't thinking,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know, back when you know, you and I were
- 2:56Speaker 1: doing what we were doing and building ourselves in the
- 2:59Speaker 1: comedy world. We weren't thinking, oh, this is our brand,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but knowing that every step that you take is all
- 3:06Speaker 1: um uh, every step that you take, and as you
- 3:09Speaker 1: are aware of your gifts and talents, it's all a
- 3:12Speaker 1: part of your brand. It's all a part of the
- 3:15Speaker 1: building of who you are, the message that you've come
- 3:18Speaker 1: here to to give. And this is whether you're This
- 3:21Speaker 1: is not even for people who are in show business,
- 3:23Speaker 1: not even for people who are entrepreneurs. All of us
- 3:26Speaker 1: now are are requested and required to pull on our gifts.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So to to to UH, I should said, um rely
- 3:34Speaker 1: on our gifts in a new way. And so I
- 3:37Speaker 1: figured out a while ago Rashan that just being a
- 3:41Speaker 1: sitcom actress, while that is awesome, it's not gonna. It's
- 3:45Speaker 1: not enough. Just the stand up comedian, while it's awesome,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and there are people for whom that's what they do
- 3:51Speaker 1: and they do well. I knew that I had other
- 3:54Speaker 1: aspects of my gifting that needed to come forth. There
- 4:00Speaker 1: or the Kim Calls brand has the stand up comedy,
- 4:03Speaker 1: the sitcom actress, the author, and the entrepreneur who teaches
- 4:09Speaker 1: entrepreneurs how to find their gifts. And so this is
- 4:12Speaker 1: about expansions. This is also about at this time when
- 4:17Speaker 1: everything has slowed down and has stopped from some people's perspectives,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and it has. It has not slowed down for me
- 4:26Speaker 1: nor for anyone that I that I want to um
- 4:31Speaker 1: have any coach or have any influence over. Now is
- 4:35Speaker 1: the time to be pivoting on purpose and be thinking
- 4:38Speaker 1: of new way to use your gifts. It's actually an
- 4:41Speaker 1: opportunity and I am equal to the challenge because if
- 4:45Speaker 1: you are well, you know, I really love your tone,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and you know, it almost feels like when I'm talking
- 4:52Speaker 1: to you, it's like I'm looking at I'm talking, I'm
- 4:55Speaker 1: listening to a professor, a professor and uh, I'm doing
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know. I mean, you know, I interview a lot
- 5:02Speaker 1: of people, okay and so, and you're one of my
- 5:04Speaker 1: favorite people. I tell you that, and you're like, really
- 5:07Speaker 1: is you are? That you are because of the fact
- 5:10Speaker 1: that because of the fact that I always marvel at UH,
- 5:13Speaker 1: the ability to UH to be committed because what you're
- 5:18Speaker 1: doing is a bigger commitment than being an actress a comedian,
- 5:22Speaker 1: because people are responding to your brand from to say
- 5:26Speaker 1: you can change my life. Nobody's as a telling the
- 5:29Speaker 1: joke is to commedian, nobody said I change their life
- 5:31Speaker 1: telling the joke or write in the script. But what
- 5:33Speaker 1: you're doing with community the mastermind, you're changing lives. And
- 5:39Speaker 1: so that's then it comes to the responsibility of being
- 5:41Speaker 1: able to be there when people need an understand and
- 5:45Speaker 1: coaching them that the downtime is not a flaw. That's
- 5:48Speaker 1: part of the process. At downtime, nobody's up forever. You know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: you have to be ready for that down moment so
- 5:56Speaker 1: you can go back up. And that's for the planning process.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And that's why you have a monthly subscription. Correct I do,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I love you know. I thought I was real
- 6:04Speaker 1: cute when I came up with the name community. So
- 6:07Speaker 1: it's k I am you and I t wine mastermind
- 6:12Speaker 1: dot com. And what it really is about is creating
- 6:15Speaker 1: a community of like minded individuals in which my business
- 6:20Speaker 1: partner and I coached them through building their business self care.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Like you know, we just did a class last week
- 6:28Speaker 1: on I noticed that most of the ladies just said,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm overworked, I got too much on my plate. I
- 6:32Speaker 1: don't know what to do next, and so we did
- 6:34Speaker 1: a masterclass on self care. Now, self care doesn't just
- 6:38Speaker 1: mean getting me a facial and getting you weave kite
- 6:40Speaker 1: and get your nails done. It really means rest. It
- 6:45Speaker 1: means setting boundaries. It means saying no where saying yes
- 6:50Speaker 1: would deplete you further. It means filling your cups so
- 6:54Speaker 1: that you can serve others. And so I am passionate
- 6:58Speaker 1: about helping people to find that find those resources. We
- 7:04Speaker 1: give them the resources to uplevel their lives so that
- 7:07Speaker 1: my ladies are more busy now than they were before.
- 7:11Speaker 1: The pandemic hit because they realized I've got a vision,
- 7:14Speaker 1: I've got to keep going, and I'm building an empire
- 7:18Speaker 1: for myself that will last longer than than than me.
- 7:24Speaker 1: This is about building legacy, and we know that our
- 7:27Speaker 1: people more than ever need to be having this legacy conversation.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And so I get to do that and it makes
- 7:33Speaker 1: me so happy. And I didn't know this was my
- 7:36Speaker 1: gift until I was in a down spiral, a downtime,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you know, two thousand eight, which was plus but everybody was.
- 7:44Speaker 1: When I figured out, oh wait a minute, I've better
- 7:46Speaker 1: figure out some other things to do and not be
- 7:49Speaker 1: reliant on a studio head saying yes she's the one
- 7:54Speaker 1: or ocean to lose some weight or be or you know,
- 7:57Speaker 1: could she could you just read the lines as we
- 7:59Speaker 1: wrote them. I'm like, okay, I can do that in
- 8:01Speaker 1: this space. But in this space over here, I can
- 8:04Speaker 1: create a community. Uh and and create change. Do you
- 8:08Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? And that's why that's why I
- 8:10Speaker 1: love talking to you. Because of the fact that your
- 8:14Speaker 1: success pattern as a as an entertainer. Okay, that's that's
- 8:17Speaker 1: an entertainer, okay. And and you you absolutely tell them
- 8:21Speaker 1: the truth sometimes we we we don't know what our
- 8:24Speaker 1: gifts are because of the fact that we're so focused
- 8:27Speaker 1: on what people telling us. This is where you make
- 8:29Speaker 1: your money. This is direct, that's the door you're supposed
- 8:32Speaker 1: to open. Going that door, do what they tell you
- 8:34Speaker 1: to do, come out, and you live a successful life.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that that's the long term success.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And because in the end, the Kim I talked to now,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm not saying I didn't like the Kim I knew before,
- 8:46Speaker 1: but the Kim I talked to now is such a
- 8:49Speaker 1: worldly voice, such a voice of confidence, such a voice
- 8:53Speaker 1: of this is what I want to do for myself.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I can still do that other stuffle shure and do
- 8:57Speaker 1: it outstandingly, but it's my option now. That is what
- 9:01Speaker 1: I like about what I'm talking to, and that's what
- 9:04Speaker 1: I try to tell people on the show. And when
- 9:05Speaker 1: I see what you're doing, I gotta promote it. And
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'm mad because you did this this session, you and
- 9:11Speaker 1: you and you just mentioned it on my show. We
- 9:13Speaker 1: just didn't retreat and didn't even contact me. And I
- 9:16Speaker 1: keep telling your little skinny behind. I put you on
- 9:19Speaker 1: my social media. I got almost a million follows I
- 9:22Speaker 1: got a name eight thousand and it's got on the car.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I tell you, I'm gonna put you into my newsletter
- 9:26Speaker 1: this Wednesday. I ain't even asking the show you love
- 9:28Speaker 1: because you're brilliant. But guess what I gotta hear about
- 9:31Speaker 1: the stuff when you come on my show. Should I
- 9:33Speaker 1: be upset with Kim Coke? You rooting to not be
- 9:36Speaker 1: upset with me because we are going to collaborate because
- 9:39Speaker 1: I want to invite you to be a featured speaker
- 9:44Speaker 1: in something else I'm doing. I have something. I did
- 9:47Speaker 1: this in May, and you're gonna love this. It was
- 9:50Speaker 1: called the Captivating Conversation Summit, and at the time it
- 9:54Speaker 1: was called how to Thrive with Certainty in Uncertain Times.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It was such a success that I decided to do
- 10:02Speaker 1: I call it cap CON Captivating Conversations. This time it's
- 10:07Speaker 1: about being perfectly positioned to prosper. And you're hearing it
- 10:12Speaker 1: right now, everybody that's listening. I'm inviting Rashaan McDonald to
- 10:16Speaker 1: come and be a featured speaker in the cap CON
- 10:19Speaker 1: to All details will be coming soon, so just hold on. Accepted,
- 10:25Speaker 1: except because you know why, because because because the fact
- 10:30Speaker 1: of the matter is that you, it's a clear understanding
- 10:33Speaker 1: that the COVID ninteen is not going to go away.
- 10:35Speaker 1: We're gonna go back to you know, live events. There
- 10:39Speaker 1: will be much mass wearing will be a dominant participant
- 10:42Speaker 1: in that process, and I'm okay with that. But the
- 10:45Speaker 1: world but people have a clear understanding that it's okay
- 10:48Speaker 1: to do virtual events to virtual retreats and all these things.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And guess what you have to be at the forefront
- 10:54Speaker 1: of that to be able to take advantage of it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: What made you understand that there was a business at
- 11:00Speaker 1: tunity in the at this level? Kim, Well, when when
- 11:05Speaker 1: you know, it's so funny. It was a domino effect.
- 11:07Speaker 1: When so I've been making most of my way through speaking,
- 11:14Speaker 1: so when i'm you know, I'm not on the show,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and we'll talk about in the cut in just a moment,
- 11:18Speaker 1: but we filmed all that in January. It was done.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I had a full schedule of speaking events, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: women's empowerment events, entrepreneurial events, just and it was a
- 11:30Speaker 1: domino effect that one after the other after the other
- 11:33Speaker 1: after the other got they got canceled and I was like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: oh my goodness, So you know this is now March
- 11:39Speaker 1: and April and May were canceled, and in May, June,
- 11:42Speaker 1: July and all just got canceled. This it just kept
- 11:45Speaker 1: going and some of these events are like, we're not
- 11:47Speaker 1: going to even try until I was like, well, if
- 11:51Speaker 1: my main source of connecting to people other than online, uh,
- 11:56Speaker 1: meaning like you know, doing my own things online, is
- 11:58Speaker 1: why don't I just create a X thing online? And
- 12:02Speaker 1: so captivating conversations provided me an opportunity to do a
- 12:05Speaker 1: five day summit with thirty speakers, some of them you
- 12:10Speaker 1: know from you know, I call them my busin besties,
- 12:12Speaker 1: my Hollywood besties, and my real besties. And they each
- 12:16Speaker 1: came on and talked about their their perspective on how
- 12:20Speaker 1: to thrive. At this time, I had a meditation coach.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I had you know, various business um um folks teaching
- 12:27Speaker 1: people how to take their business online. It was like,
- 12:30Speaker 1: wait a minute, I can headline my own events all
- 12:34Speaker 1: from my living room, and so why not do that again?
- 12:37Speaker 1: So yes, we'll be live again together. I'm miss hugging folks.
- 12:41Speaker 1: My team gets mad at me because I'll hug people.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Think Clarence to my hugs. You come over in for hugs,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but you mean you know that that's that's that's uh,
- 12:52Speaker 1: that's and and that's really interesting you say that because
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know, with this whole COVID it just really changed
- 12:58Speaker 1: away we emotion, you leave, treat each other, you know, basically,
- 13:03Speaker 1: you know, it's it's a disconnect, and you know, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: I kind of I kind of wonder how that's going
- 13:08Speaker 1: to affect this generation of young people and children, because
- 13:11Speaker 1: COVID nineteen is not gonna go away. It's not gonna
- 13:14Speaker 1: go away, and so I don't think it's gonna go away.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And I hate these I mean, I know we have
- 13:18Speaker 1: to wear a mask, but I don't like that you
- 13:21Speaker 1: can't see I'm smiling at your Is that that's exactly
- 13:24Speaker 1: the truth. That's exactly true. Is that you don't understand.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And I and sometimes I see people I try to smile,
- 13:30Speaker 1: that go they don't see me smiling, dummy, They don't,
- 13:33Speaker 1: you know, they don't. I want to acknowledge people that
- 13:35Speaker 1: I feel good about them being around me in the
- 13:37Speaker 1: grocery store and things of that nature, because it really
- 13:41Speaker 1: does take your your temperament down a notch knowing that
- 13:45Speaker 1: you can't you can't let everybody know what's going on.
- 13:48Speaker 1: In your life. So it's really, it really is amazing
- 13:51Speaker 1: that your value to me, your value to me is
- 13:54Speaker 1: what you're doing on this side of the table. And
- 13:58Speaker 1: the and the beauty of it is that you know
- 14:00Speaker 1: this is only going to get bigger for you and
- 14:02Speaker 1: and so what is the future, What is the future
- 14:04Speaker 1: of codes? But also to you immunity, you know, well,
- 14:12Speaker 1: so I've got the community Mastermind, like I said, that's
- 14:14Speaker 1: a monthly membership. Then I've got I just enrolled a
- 14:18Speaker 1: group of ladies and something I call speak and get clients.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So we know that this is called the money making show,
- 14:25Speaker 1: right money? So it's you think people how to use
- 14:29Speaker 1: their stories in order to connect with potential customers and
- 14:34Speaker 1: clients and sell their products and goods and services. Nothing
- 14:38Speaker 1: better than listen. We can't smile with each other because
- 14:41Speaker 1: of these dag on me. But when I share with
- 14:43Speaker 1: you my story of the challenges I've come through and
- 14:46Speaker 1: why I created this fill in the blank, this book,
- 14:50Speaker 1: this course, this product that now will solve your solution,
- 14:54Speaker 1: the best way for me to share it is through
- 14:56Speaker 1: my story. So I teach that. So there's that, and
- 14:58Speaker 1: then there is every thing else that goes along with it.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You know the products that that come out of the ideas.
- 15:05Speaker 1: You know, the T shirts if you think that there
- 15:07Speaker 1: won't be a T shirt for the for the captivating
- 15:10Speaker 1: conversations perfectly for thinking the proper, then all those things,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and then the and and more coaching, more and more coaching.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And I do all this while sitting in you know, like,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I'm not a person right now that's creating my own
- 15:27Speaker 1: creative projects in terms of Hollywood. Like I don't have
- 15:30Speaker 1: a sitcom idea that I'm trying to pitch right now.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I don't have a movie idea that I'm trying to
- 15:36Speaker 1: pitch right now. I'm letting keeping myself afloat and keeping
- 15:41Speaker 1: myself out there with this aspect of my gift while
- 15:44Speaker 1: I audition and do these other things. So I'm sure
- 15:46Speaker 1: that one day there will be a sitcom from me
- 15:49Speaker 1: or you know something. But waiting and not waiting for
- 15:52Speaker 1: them has provided me the opportunity to create my own
- 15:55Speaker 1: So there there might be a new YouTube show coming
- 15:59Speaker 1: or to ask you about that. Come on, now, let's
- 16:01Speaker 1: talk about that. They gotta come, It gotta come. It's
- 16:04Speaker 1: time for acast. It has to come. It has to come.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And I would and I'm gonna tell you something. I
- 16:09Speaker 1: would do it. You know, podcasts are cool, but I
- 16:12Speaker 1: would do it through YouTube first. If I would do
- 16:14Speaker 1: it both, you know, if you can, you know, take
- 16:16Speaker 1: the audio, drop it on your YouTube and build those subscribers. Okay,
- 16:20Speaker 1: because of the fact that you're you you you. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: was just telling you got it, Kim, you got it.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I you know, I hear, I see it. It's it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: it's a it's a structure in your boars. You put
- 16:33Speaker 1: one sentence and one word after the next, no stumbling.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You you got the tone, you got the conversation, you
- 16:39Speaker 1: got the ability to motivate, and you are very nice
- 16:42Speaker 1: in your approach. In other words, you know, it's like
- 16:45Speaker 1: it's like you're putting the hand on my back and
- 16:47Speaker 1: saying you can do it, and I'm gonna show you how,
- 16:49Speaker 1: which means that it's much more, much more empowering because
- 16:54Speaker 1: you're not gonna leave me at the door and close
- 16:56Speaker 1: it behind me. Well, and you're right, and I think
- 17:00Speaker 1: that we have enough people who are, um, you know,
- 17:04Speaker 1: wanting to be sort of on top. Is the one
- 17:07Speaker 1: that's in control of everything. I'm saying, let's all grow together.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Let's all build together. What do you bring to the table.
- 17:15Speaker 1: What do you bring to the table, What do you
- 17:17Speaker 1: bring to the table? Great, let's get together and and
- 17:20Speaker 1: inspire and motivate more. And and the things is that
- 17:24Speaker 1: when we touch each other in that way, it reverberates,
- 17:27Speaker 1: that becomes you know, the drop in the pond. So
- 17:30Speaker 1: the more we collaborate, the more we create experiences for
- 17:34Speaker 1: other people. With your platform you have, you know, people
- 17:38Speaker 1: can listen and learn and and experience. And it's not
- 17:42Speaker 1: just you sitting in your ivory tower going I'm Rashaan,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and I can create. You're saying. I can create and
- 17:48Speaker 1: then I can teach. I can create and then I
- 17:51Speaker 1: can share and you can and I can spark it
- 17:53Speaker 1: in you two. And we need that more than ever
- 17:56Speaker 1: right now. We've we've got to get out of our
- 17:58Speaker 1: silos um and I know that this pandemic, you know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: made us go indoors. We have to find new ways
- 18:05Speaker 1: to be with each other. And and this is you know,
- 18:08Speaker 1: just some of the ways to do it. Imagine this.
- 18:10Speaker 1: This is a side note about you know, because the
- 18:13Speaker 1: things we're talking about are not time sensitive their reality,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you know, the pandemic and watching how the overtly affects
- 18:21Speaker 1: the African American community, the the you know, black Lives
- 18:25Speaker 1: Matter movement. Uh, seeing white people be more upset than
- 18:30Speaker 1: we are, which is really you know, they ain't pulling
- 18:35Speaker 1: y'all out of the car, you know that right right?
- 18:39Speaker 1: But thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate you.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Love that. And then you see and then you see
- 18:44Speaker 1: the need for a vaccine and uh, you know where
- 18:48Speaker 1: where is your comfort zone right now? You know, because
- 18:51Speaker 1: you're a leader, you're you're motivating us. But it also
- 18:54Speaker 1: takes its toll because you can't show weak this, you
- 18:57Speaker 1: can't show frail the attack, you can't show that that hey,
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'm uh, this is affected me too, because you have
- 19:03Speaker 1: to always to be pro positive, pro planner, PLO thinker.
- 19:07Speaker 1: How's it affecting you? Well, you know that's interesting. It's
- 19:12Speaker 1: finding that fine line between allowing yourself to be vulnerable
- 19:18Speaker 1: and other people to see you be vulnerable. Um actually
- 19:22Speaker 1: makes you even more human, right and it makes you
- 19:26Speaker 1: I think it helps people to relate to you. I
- 19:29Speaker 1: know that what I'm doing right now for my self
- 19:31Speaker 1: care is I am I I can't go out, so
- 19:35Speaker 1: I stay within. And what I mean by that is
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm doing a lot of spiritual work at this time.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I'm a lot of I'm doing a lot of work
- 19:42Speaker 1: where I fill my cup so much so that when
- 19:46Speaker 1: I do, when I am in a position to help
- 19:51Speaker 1: or coach or be that I am as full as
- 19:53Speaker 1: I can be, even given this ugly, this ugly experience.
- 19:57Speaker 1: And there will be times when I wring my head
- 20:01Speaker 1: in my hands too and just go like, what is
- 20:03Speaker 1: going on? I don't know what the answers are. There's
- 20:06Speaker 1: so much out there that is um confusing. Uh. I
- 20:12Speaker 1: can be very depressing, but it's it's upon me to
- 20:15Speaker 1: keep my spirits up so I can then keep the
- 20:18Speaker 1: spirits of others. And what I do is, I don't
- 20:21Speaker 1: you know, I'm not a person that's going to fall
- 20:23Speaker 1: on the bed hooping and holland crying and let people
- 20:27Speaker 1: see it. Just I'll let you know I did that.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I let you know I dried look tears and got
- 20:31Speaker 1: it together. And this is what I did to get
- 20:33Speaker 1: myself together. And if you want to fall in the
- 20:35Speaker 1: bed hooping holland, I don't know that I'm going to
- 20:37Speaker 1: instagram that live, but I will tell you that I
- 20:40Speaker 1: just finished crying. I got myself together, and here's what
- 20:43Speaker 1: I did. And so it's finding that balance for yourself,
- 20:47Speaker 1: finding that harmony. And remember early on I put up
- 20:50Speaker 1: a post that you know, there were lots of people
- 20:52Speaker 1: talking about being strong and I'm a warrior and all that,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and then I put up this post and said, if
- 20:58Speaker 1: you need to cry, cry, if you need to be quiet,
- 21:01Speaker 1: be quiet. If you need to pull the covers off
- 21:03Speaker 1: your head for a minute, it's perfectly understandable. And then
- 21:08Speaker 1: get the tools that you need to keep you going.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Find the perspective, find the joy, joyful moments in there,
- 21:17Speaker 1: because they are there. There are opportunities right now for
- 21:21Speaker 1: us to connect in new ways that are required. And
- 21:26Speaker 1: I believe Rashaan was all in my heart that the
- 21:29Speaker 1: light must win over the dark, you know, human, That's
- 21:36Speaker 1: what I'm talking about about. I can't talk, but I
- 21:39Speaker 1: can't talk like that. I felt like, you know, I
- 21:41Speaker 1: felt like I was in uh, you know, like one
- 21:44Speaker 1: of the saw dusts. Well, you know, the hot rocks
- 21:46Speaker 1: on my back. And then you know, ain't nobody touching me.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I'm just hearing your voice. The well, we couldn't last,
- 22:02Speaker 1: We wouldn't you know, when people say it's the end
- 22:04Speaker 1: of the end of everything is we know it. I'm like, yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: the end of some stuff. But we've lasted this long.
- 22:10Speaker 1: There's no way that we can't come through this. That's
- 22:13Speaker 1: the way, absolutely, I don't you know. Yeah, I truly
- 22:17Speaker 1: believe and trust that you understand what we're talking about.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And then let's Billy is gonna be mad. I've talked
- 22:22Speaker 1: like twenty three minutes with you and we haven't even
- 22:25Speaker 1: mentioned in the cut, So I hope he doesn't hear
- 22:27Speaker 1: this podcast now in the cut. That's My Boy on
- 22:32Speaker 1: Bounce TV every Wednesday a p m. Eastern Standard Time.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I interview Mark Curry. He's new to the show currently.
- 22:40Speaker 1: This is the seventh season. You kind of mentioned it earlier.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Taped in December January time frame pre COVID you on
- 22:46Speaker 1: the show, what your restaurant are, tell us about your character,
- 22:49Speaker 1: and tell us about this upcoming sea. Yeah. Well, so
- 22:52Speaker 1: first of all, let me just say what an honor
- 22:54Speaker 1: it is to be working with this brother who said
- 22:57Speaker 1: keep cold, just come on into work on Monday and
- 23:00Speaker 1: got the audition. Remember, so you know, you know, the
- 23:05Speaker 1: knowing that I built up enough of the reputation. Uh
- 23:09Speaker 1: and and quality of work that somebody could just say,
- 23:11Speaker 1: you don't have to audition, just I'll see you on
- 23:13Speaker 1: the third or whatever the date was. So that's number one.
- 23:16Speaker 1: To be on a set that is such a family
- 23:20Speaker 1: oriented set. You know, you've got Bentley who knows what
- 23:23Speaker 1: he's doing because he's been doing this for you know,
- 23:25Speaker 1: for a while, and he has a symboled the team
- 23:28Speaker 1: of people who just it just works. It just works.
- 23:32Speaker 1: And so yes, I am the current owner of Mabel's Tables.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Uh and um, you know, I'm playing a character unlike
- 23:42Speaker 1: I've ever played before. And and to have him say
- 23:44Speaker 1: to you on the first day of work, just do
- 23:46Speaker 1: what you do, I'm like, really, yeah, you get the
- 23:48Speaker 1: words on the page. Who didn't play. I'm here to
- 23:51Speaker 1: support you, and if it doesn't work, we'll say try
- 23:53Speaker 1: it again. And so that freedom was such a joy
- 23:58Speaker 1: that to have all crazy and to play with Mark
- 24:00Speaker 1: Curry in this way, who is the good things about
- 24:03Speaker 1: Mark Curry is that he keeps you on your toes
- 24:06Speaker 1: because you never know what he's gonna do, and so
- 24:09Speaker 1: that sharpens my tool, that sharpest mind. It's like, oh,
- 24:14Speaker 1: he's a great person to play with in that way
- 24:16Speaker 1: because you you just gotta be ready for him to
- 24:18Speaker 1: come with it, and you've got to be able to
- 24:20Speaker 1: throw the ball back in his court. So it was
- 24:22Speaker 1: such a joy. You know Dorian Wilson, who is also
- 24:25Speaker 1: another one who um he serves as such a wonderful
- 24:30Speaker 1: um foundation and he's also someone that loves when you play,
- 24:36Speaker 1: lets you play with him in that way. So it
- 24:38Speaker 1: was a joy to do and we did it and
- 24:40Speaker 1: it was done, and it's so much fun that in
- 24:43Speaker 1: the midst of all this craziness, now it launches where
- 24:46Speaker 1: we can provide joy and right when people need it
- 24:52Speaker 1: most right and so, uh, it's it's just it's just wonderful.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's Mabel's tables. We have a menu there are is it?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Is it a restaurant that's kind of like struggling on
- 25:07Speaker 1: you you're turning customers away? What is Mayble's table and
- 25:11Speaker 1: what she's saving over there? Is it? Is it a
- 25:13Speaker 1: soulful restauranategy? The holy to what is Mabel's Tables? Well,
- 25:18Speaker 1: what's interesting? And I have to pay omar to uh
- 25:22Speaker 1: to our lovely Lord Hayes, oh my good girl. Everybody
- 25:27Speaker 1: that Dorian Willson that from the Parker Kid lost and
- 25:30Speaker 1: he's from the Parker's Colina Spirit. That's from Bernie Maxhell,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Laura hey, just like I walk in there, boy, I
- 25:36Speaker 1: started kissing and he look and everybody right. So Laura
- 25:40Speaker 1: Hayes has at this point left Mabel's table, and if
- 25:43Speaker 1: I had to send word to her to say, Laura,
- 25:45Speaker 1: I hope you all right today, right right? I love
- 25:48Speaker 1: you some Lord Hayes. So it's her restaurant, and I
- 25:51Speaker 1: don't know what what story because you know, I don't
- 25:53Speaker 1: know what story they tell that she's no longer running it.
- 25:55Speaker 1: But now the woman named Trish, I'm Trish. And so
- 25:58Speaker 1: we served soul food but done very exotic, you know,
- 26:03Speaker 1: lama legs you know, uh a goat uh lip uh.
- 26:12Speaker 1: You just sold food. People don't put enough food on
- 26:14Speaker 1: the plate. But it's but the words are longer than
- 26:17Speaker 1: the food that you give me. Okay, yeah, yeah, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 1: wonderful ext you know it's somebody, you know, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 1: perhaps a piece of wildlife you know, didn't quite make
- 26:30Speaker 1: it out back. We take them and put them on
- 26:32Speaker 1: a plate, so you don't care the beauty of you
- 26:38Speaker 1: know this. We're talking to Kim cos she's starring in
- 26:40Speaker 1: the series seventh season of End the Cut, created by
- 26:43Speaker 1: my Man Bentley Evans of Mark Lawrence Creativity Fame and
- 26:46Speaker 1: Jamie Fox. That's why I made him. I was co
- 26:48Speaker 1: executive producer on Jamie Fox Show when he was running
- 26:51Speaker 1: in and creating it with Jamie Fox at the time.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And In The Cut airs every Wednesday on Bounce TV
- 26:56Speaker 1: at a pm Eastern Standard time. But more importantly, you know,
- 26:59Speaker 1: you're still entertaining us from from a comedic ACTUSS standpoint,
- 27:04Speaker 1: but community mastermind dot com really is the brand that,
- 27:09Speaker 1: to me is so needed to that now. And I,
- 27:13Speaker 1: like I said, uh, anytime I get a chance to
- 27:16Speaker 1: talk to you, I just gotta let you know what
- 27:18Speaker 1: a blessing that you are and what you're doing. And
- 27:21Speaker 1: so because we all have those moments, is it is
- 27:24Speaker 1: it worth? It? Is? It? Is? It? Is? It is?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Anybody acknowledging this and then the door And That's what
- 27:31Speaker 1: I'm just letting you know. I'm acknowledging that, and I'm
- 27:33Speaker 1: acknowledging it with pride. I'm acknowledging it with a smile.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Every time I see your photo come across my timeline
- 27:41Speaker 1: on LinkedIn, on social media posts, because you are proving
- 27:46Speaker 1: that you can't control your destiny. You can still do
- 27:50Speaker 1: what you do, but at least you get a clear
- 27:53Speaker 1: understanding that I am happy and I'm changing lives the
- 27:58Speaker 1: way I want to change lives and has nothing to
- 28:00Speaker 1: do with script or somebody saying cut exactly, and and
- 28:05Speaker 1: that's there for me too, and that's I'm joyful about that.
- 28:08Speaker 1: While they wasn't to call me, I'm gonna go on
- 28:10Speaker 1: over and do this. I'm gonna go ahead, go on
- 28:12Speaker 1: over and do this right quick. And speaking of this,
- 28:15Speaker 1: don't forget we're gonna talk about captivating conversations from it too. Well.
- 28:21Speaker 1: We know I'm gonna say goodbye right now, but hold on,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna get that number and so we can connect.
- 28:25Speaker 1: But I want to wrap this up again as Kim
