- 1:52Speaker 1: My next guest is the founder and chief executive officer
- 1:55Speaker 1: of Mobility Capital Finance, Incorporated in fourteen. As the city
- 2:00Speaker 1: of Ferguson, Missouri, erupted into protests following the shooting death
- 2:04Speaker 1: of them on armed black teenager sounds familiar. An Oxford
- 2:08Speaker 1: educated African American financial executive setting this office at the
- 2:11Speaker 1: Fortunate one hundred company and decided and considered ways to
- 2:15Speaker 1: close the economic gap. Two years later, that executive launched
- 2:19Speaker 1: a digital banking platform that would target them more than
- 2:23Speaker 1: fifty million unbanked and underbanked people living in this country.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making conversation, role coax him. Thank
- 2:33Speaker 1: you very much for Sean. It's great to be with you. Well, uh,
- 2:36Speaker 1: that's a pretty dramatic opening. That's uh an inspiration. We
- 2:41Speaker 1: all need to be inspired by something. We all need
- 2:44Speaker 1: to look at, look in the mirror and saying it's
- 2:45Speaker 1: this my ultimate path, this is my journey. You know,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we all go to school, you highly educated. And then
- 2:52Speaker 1: we opened about this conversation about an on armed black man,
- 2:56Speaker 1: young teenager, and in that was this world is in
- 3:01Speaker 1: the world. I say it's an emotional turner turner all
- 3:04Speaker 1: because of what happened to George Floyd in Minnesota. With
- 3:08Speaker 1: that being said, in the middle of a pandemic and
- 3:11Speaker 1: you saw something, sir, and I I give a lot
- 3:15Speaker 1: of speeches. I'm on news all the time, talking about
- 3:18Speaker 1: economic crisis, and it all keeps going back to the minorities,
- 3:23Speaker 1: people of color, African American who are suffering, who don't
- 3:27Speaker 1: have the right banking talked to us about that whole
- 3:29Speaker 1: process that's starting in and we're gonna come forward to
- 3:33Speaker 1: because what you created is definitely needed. I know that
- 3:37Speaker 1: for a fact, and that's why I have your money
- 3:39Speaker 1: making conversations. Yeah, so you know the reality is that, Um,
- 3:45Speaker 1: when I was at my job, I was one of
- 3:48Speaker 1: the most senior Black people at JP Morgan, and I
- 3:52Speaker 1: realized that where I was sitting, I was not in
- 3:56Speaker 1: a position to impact my community where I come from,
- 4:00Speaker 1: to my people, and I wanted out a stage in
- 4:05Speaker 1: life where I said, you know what, I'd rather try
- 4:08Speaker 1: and solve this problem and fail than to stay in
- 4:13Speaker 1: my job and keep doing what I'm doing, because at
- 4:15Speaker 1: least I can have the satisfaction in life of trying
- 4:19Speaker 1: to tackle it. And I was so frustrated with being
- 4:23Speaker 1: in conversations with people talking about the problem and not
- 4:28Speaker 1: really having a conversation about, well, here's some tangible solutions.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So I thought, let me take my training. I've been fortunate,
- 4:37Speaker 1: fortunate to have worked at some of the biggest financial
- 4:40Speaker 1: services companies in this country with some well known people,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and I said, let me take this training and see
- 4:46Speaker 1: if I can bring it back to my community. UM.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And that's how we got to mokify. And we all
- 4:52Speaker 1: have our moments in life. But when I was watching
- 4:55Speaker 1: ferguson Burn, it reminded me of episodes of I as
- 5:00Speaker 1: on the Prize that so many of us grew up
- 5:02Speaker 1: watching as a as a young person, and so many
- 5:05Speaker 1: more of us lived through UM in the civil rights era.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And I just thought that, you know what, there's got
- 5:13Speaker 1: to be a better way. And got all this training,
- 5:15Speaker 1: Let's see if you can put it to you. So
- 5:16Speaker 1: that was my sort of George Floyd moment happened um then,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and it put me in a position to ask some
- 5:25Speaker 1: difficult questions. Why do black folks spend more than on
- 5:35Speaker 1: banking products in their white counterparts every month? Right? Why
- 5:39Speaker 1: is it that, over the course of a lifetime, a
- 5:42Speaker 1: black person can spend forty dollars more for banking services
- 5:49Speaker 1: than their counterpart. And how can we have an impact?
- 5:51Speaker 1: Because it's all about how do we create wealth in
- 5:53Speaker 1: our communities? And it's got to start by not going
- 5:56Speaker 1: to the check casher hapsolutely you know, you know in
- 6:01Speaker 1: two thousands, you know, when I was doing radio, Steve Harman,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I was doing radio just watching them going to Compton.
- 6:07Speaker 1: These czecks hashings just outrageous fees they're paying in watts
- 6:10Speaker 1: and competence South l A. And not only just there,
- 6:13Speaker 1: but in the Fifth War and the third wards of Houston,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Texas and south side of Chicago. You know, in the
- 6:18Speaker 1: communities of Harlem, New York, and other boroughs in the
- 6:21Speaker 1: d C Area. Everywhere you go, black people are being
- 6:24Speaker 1: exploited because they don't have access to the correct way
- 6:28Speaker 1: to you to to to to receive their money and
- 6:31Speaker 1: deposit their money. That's exactly right, and there's an assumption
- 6:35Speaker 1: that those are the right ways that should serve the
- 6:38Speaker 1: black community. The fact that they're more check cashers than
- 6:41Speaker 1: there are McDonald's and burger Kings in this country tells
- 6:45Speaker 1: you a lot. Right of the black of the bank
- 6:48Speaker 1: branches that are closed in this country have been in
- 6:50Speaker 1: low and modern income communities, and that's our community. So
- 6:56Speaker 1: we can do better. And I wanted to try to
- 6:58Speaker 1: be a part of that conversation as um and to
- 7:01Speaker 1: bring it to today, to your point we're seeing the
- 7:05Speaker 1: implications of being on the outside looking in from the
- 7:08Speaker 1: financial services perspective. How does that manifest itself? It manifests
- 7:12Speaker 1: itself in such a way that you've got um, hundreds
- 7:16Speaker 1: of thousands of people who still haven't collected there. Yes,
- 7:26Speaker 1: if you couple or five hundred dollars a child, if
- 7:30Speaker 1: child has not turned eighteen, that's exactly right. And so
- 7:35Speaker 1: why are we, the most vulnerable of us, need these dollars?
- 7:41Speaker 1: And yet if we're waiting for a check, and even
- 7:44Speaker 1: if we get the check, we still got to go
- 7:46Speaker 1: to the check casher to cash it. Oh, but by
- 7:49Speaker 1: the way, the check casher is I've got to leave
- 7:53Speaker 1: my home to get there. That puts me at risk,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, with this COVID nineteen situation. And so now
- 8:00Speaker 1: I've got to risk my life to cash a check
- 8:05Speaker 1: that and I oh, by the way, I'm not gonna
- 8:06Speaker 1: get my full twelve gotta pay a fee to get
- 8:09Speaker 1: that money in the first place. I mean, it all
- 8:11Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. And also, let's remind this, and you're
- 8:14Speaker 1: cashing it not in the most friendly environment. You know,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you got a buzz in fifteen inch glass. They don't
- 8:22Speaker 1: even trust you as a customer. They don't see you
- 8:24Speaker 1: as a lawyer customer. They don't want to grow your money.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They don't want to posit your money. They want they
- 8:29Speaker 1: want to just see you for that one time, get
- 8:31Speaker 1: what they can get out of you, buzz you out.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So it's never environment that they wants you to bring
- 8:37Speaker 1: your children into. There's nobody there with a lollipops that
- 8:42Speaker 1: condition environment what you sit on the chair, you know
- 8:44Speaker 1: what I'm talking This is this. That's how people do
- 8:47Speaker 1: quality banking when you want to put your money in.
- 8:50Speaker 1: This is the environment that they're not used to. So
- 8:52Speaker 1: guess what generation behind you sees that and say that's
- 8:55Speaker 1: how I do my money too. That's how I'm supposed
- 8:58Speaker 1: to live. That's why I say now I had to
- 8:59Speaker 1: bring you the show man. This is just right here.
- 9:01Speaker 1: We just started scratching the surface of the greatness of
- 9:04Speaker 1: what you have come about, what you're delivering, because I'm
- 9:08Speaker 1: at the forefront of just black people. You know, they
- 9:11Speaker 1: when these dollars dim, the checks going straight to the
- 9:14Speaker 1: people who file taxes and they then that money gets
- 9:16Speaker 1: returned back to the government. They never see it because
- 9:19Speaker 1: they don't have bank accounts, right right, right. And the
- 9:24Speaker 1: thing about it is a bank account. It sounds so simple,
- 9:27Speaker 1: but for so many of us, it's not that simple.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And one of the things that we're imagining a world
- 9:34Speaker 1: is we're going to transform the stores and the locations
- 9:38Speaker 1: where we live into virtual bank branches. So what we're
- 9:43Speaker 1: what we're setting up is you can get there's a
- 9:45Speaker 1: free a t M network. We've got an a t
- 9:47Speaker 1: M network. You can get your cash out for free.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I don't care what your balances. We're not charging a
- 9:51Speaker 1: monthly minimum fee. We're not charging you um to set
- 9:55Speaker 1: up the account. You can start transacting with us for free,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and you get the state of the art plastic touchless.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's got a chip in it, it's got a pen,
- 10:05Speaker 1: because that's what we deserve because our philosophy is if
- 10:07Speaker 1: you bring a high quality product to a large market,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you've got a game with the business. So anyway, so
- 10:13Speaker 1: we're transforming the walmarts, the CVS is, the Riot aids
- 10:18Speaker 1: into places where you can put cash in your account
- 10:22Speaker 1: for free, take cash out of your account for free,
- 10:24Speaker 1: and we're allowing people to take checks, pictures of their
- 10:27Speaker 1: check and that money will be deposited into your account
- 10:31Speaker 1: for free, real time. There's no reason you need to
- 10:33Speaker 1: go to a check cash or ever again if you
- 10:35Speaker 1: work with and and the part that I'm so excited about.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm excited about so many parts of this and you're not.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You know this is this is where I'm excited, so
- 10:48Speaker 1: is Dad. See what black people or people of color
- 10:51Speaker 1: I have to have to learn and understand that that
- 10:53Speaker 1: cell phone is a mini computer, oh a meaning computer.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And that is the game change that we have to
- 11:00Speaker 1: educate them about because you're about to get hit again
- 11:03Speaker 1: with this potential home schooling are are are because of pandic,
- 11:09Speaker 1: because of the pandemic and COVID eighteen. We have to
- 11:11Speaker 1: learn that this this little app that you can drop,
- 11:14Speaker 1: that you can did you did you feel it's only
- 11:17Speaker 1: for texting, for taking photos and making phone calls? Is
- 11:21Speaker 1: the game changer for your financial life. That is what
- 11:25Speaker 1: I really want to pound on this interview is that
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know, black people about more Android phones than anybody
- 11:31Speaker 1: in the world Black people right right right, And when
- 11:36Speaker 1: I saw this, I went Okay, as a team, we
- 11:39Speaker 1: have to I have to talk to him because I
- 11:41Speaker 1: gotta figure out a way to be able to sell this.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I got you know, I got a bi monthly newsletter
- 11:46Speaker 1: goes out the ninety thousand fans every month, and to
- 11:50Speaker 1: grow is growing, and I want to drop this information
- 11:53Speaker 1: in there. You know. Sometimes they're block you on Facebook
- 11:56Speaker 1: when you start talking financial and stuff like that. But
- 11:58Speaker 1: I have my own assets and I can put the
- 12:00Speaker 1: word out because this type of information that you're delivering
- 12:05Speaker 1: has to be told and has to be shared because
- 12:07Speaker 1: of the fact that if we don't understand that that
- 12:10Speaker 1: that this this pandemic should be an eye opening from
- 12:13Speaker 1: the technology side or the lack of information that we're
- 12:17Speaker 1: using through technology. And this mobility app that you created,
- 12:21Speaker 1: that mobility Capital finance app is the game changer, sir.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It's the game change. Uh well, the things that I
- 12:29Speaker 1: appreciate that and we want to be very much a
- 12:32Speaker 1: part of your getting the word out. So I look
- 12:34Speaker 1: forward to taking advantage of how you reach your ninety
- 12:37Speaker 1: and growing. Um, I got eight hundred thousands on my Facebook.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I got another hundred thousands. We're gonna figure out how
- 12:43Speaker 1: to get this out there, you know, And I just
- 12:45Speaker 1: know that sometimes we say financial money in your copy,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you know, Facebook or Flag and all this, But we're
- 12:52Speaker 1: gonna figure this out because you you just say mobility,
- 12:55Speaker 1: capital finance. I think I can get that out like that.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But I just know that you to be smart, you
- 13:00Speaker 1: know when you trying to reach your people. I got
- 13:02Speaker 1: eighty eight percent of my excuse me, of my followers
- 13:05Speaker 1: on my Facebook account are female, which are the decision
- 13:09Speaker 1: makers who are the usually the people who handle the
- 13:12Speaker 1: purse strings. So I know I have the right audience
- 13:16Speaker 1: to be able to communicate. Is just being able to
- 13:18Speaker 1: get you on the show. Let you know I'm a fan,
- 13:21Speaker 1: and let you know I have a high degree of
- 13:22Speaker 1: sincerity when I'm talking to you. Well, I appreciate that
- 13:26Speaker 1: very much. You when you talk about the your your
- 13:30Speaker 1: your fan base, and your women, that reminds me of
- 13:35Speaker 1: something my mom says often, which is stopping the women
- 13:38Speaker 1: stops the power. And so we need to empower women
- 13:44Speaker 1: so they are because they really do. M have the
- 13:47Speaker 1: responsibility of managing our owns and managing our lives. One
- 13:50Speaker 1: of the things that I've been very we're very focused
- 13:53Speaker 1: on is around and and and just peep this around
- 13:59Speaker 1: grant aiments being a way that people can build their
- 14:03Speaker 1: credit score. So if you think about it, for many
- 14:07Speaker 1: of us, our rent payment on a monthly basis is
- 14:12Speaker 1: the largest expense that we have each month, and so
- 14:18Speaker 1: few of us actually get that payment into the credit file.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We make that free for people. We we enable that
- 14:27Speaker 1: and it's free to people. So if they pay their
- 14:29Speaker 1: rent on our platform and they can give us the
- 14:31Speaker 1: name of their landlord and we can send the landlord
- 14:33Speaker 1: a check, we can at the same time provide the
- 14:38Speaker 1: two of the bureaus, Equifax and TransUnion that information and all.
- 14:44Speaker 1: By the way, that was that was brilliant, sir. That
- 14:48Speaker 1: was I've read that. I went, that's brilliant because you know,
- 14:51Speaker 1: and that's true because of the fact that you know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: they don't report that, and so that's the number one
- 14:58Speaker 1: thing that we do is pay rent. Pay rent okay,
- 15:02Speaker 1: and the fact that you can't even get credit for
- 15:05Speaker 1: paying rent. And when I saw that part, I went, wow, Wow,
- 15:10Speaker 1: this is brilliant. This is brilliant. Now how are you
- 15:13Speaker 1: because I see years which is not enough. We are
- 15:16Speaker 1: not even close to our number. How do we get
- 15:19Speaker 1: that number moving exponentially in the black community. That's a
- 15:25Speaker 1: great question. So we think about it in two ways.
- 15:27Speaker 1: It's having this conversation, uh and having as many of
- 15:31Speaker 1: your readers and listeners UM tune in and try us
- 15:37Speaker 1: out UM and making sure that people understand the value.
- 15:41Speaker 1: So that's part of it. We we we too are really
- 15:45Speaker 1: trying to improve our digital game UH and spend time
- 15:51Speaker 1: on the various social media platforms where people are looking
- 15:54Speaker 1: for solutions. And then we're also just but you know,
- 15:58Speaker 1: if you look at our community and our history, movements
- 16:01Speaker 1: start from the bottom up, right, and so we just
- 16:04Speaker 1: need to be in the community. For example, we're in
- 16:08Speaker 1: Newark and the folks who are in a summer job
- 16:12Speaker 1: program working with the City of Newark, they're using our
- 16:16Speaker 1: platform to get paid their summer wages. Instead of getting
- 16:19Speaker 1: gift cards, they're actually opening up a full d d
- 16:22Speaker 1: a bank account on our platform. Right, We've got folks
- 16:26Speaker 1: in Brooklyn who are um getting some COVID relief dollars
- 16:32Speaker 1: and they are instead of getting along gift cards, they
- 16:37Speaker 1: are able to sign up and get their dollars by
- 16:40Speaker 1: opening up an account with us, and the organizations are
- 16:43Speaker 1: putting dollars into those accounts. So it's those kinds of opportunities.
- 16:47Speaker 1: We've got folks in Atlanta who are we're helping provide
- 16:52Speaker 1: through some philanthropic dollars rent relief so people don't get
- 16:59Speaker 1: evicted from their homes and at the same time saying
- 17:01Speaker 1: now is the time for you to think about improving
- 17:05Speaker 1: your banking situation so you don't have to waste money
- 17:08Speaker 1: on excess fees. So we're just trying to go through
- 17:11Speaker 1: all the channels of with great community partners, folks like
- 17:15Speaker 1: yourselves who reach such an important audience, UH to tell
- 17:20Speaker 1: the story and hopefully each person that uses the product,
- 17:23Speaker 1: they'll tell a friend and you know, we'll grow out
- 17:26Speaker 1: that way. One of the things that's credit is you
- 17:28Speaker 1: can send money to another Mokifi we called Mobility Capital Finance.
- 17:33Speaker 1: We go buy mokifi another Mokify card holder for free instantaneously,
- 17:41Speaker 1: versus going to Western Union Exactly. I'm telling it's finally
- 17:48Speaker 1: here the season of celebration. And no matter how you
- 17:52Speaker 1: celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for us
- 17:55Speaker 1: Mago's or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to midnight mass,
- 18:00Speaker 1: Goals has just what you need to make those traditions special.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Plus you'll find gifts for all your loved ones. Send
- 18:06Speaker 1: warm wishes with cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungeware, blankets and throws.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Support minority owned or founded brands by giving gifts from
- 18:15Speaker 1: Human Nation and shame moisture, or treat them to everyone's
- 18:18Speaker 1: favorite activewear from top brands like Nike, Adidas, and under Armor.
- 18:23Speaker 1: And in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating
- 18:26Speaker 1: eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the
- 18:30Speaker 1: health and well being of our communities. No matter how
- 18:33Speaker 1: you celebrate, when you shop at Coals, you're right where
- 18:36Speaker 1: you belong. So this season, give with all your heart

- 19:38Speaker 1: free at auto dit ai or download the app for
- 19:41Speaker 1: free auto dot ai. That's O T T E R
- 19:44Speaker 1: dot Ai. This is a This is a lot of
- 19:46Speaker 1: stuff going on, you know, because you know when you
- 19:48Speaker 1: when you when you sit on the other side, and
- 19:51Speaker 1: just like you you said, on the other side, and
- 19:54Speaker 1: you do business a certain way and you're going to bank,
- 19:56Speaker 1: they look at you different and bank accoud looks different.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And then I see my people living a life struggling, struggling,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and then you're struggling because I grew up in the
- 20:09Speaker 1: inner city, so I know struggle and um and so
- 20:13Speaker 1: this this is such a quality mission. And the reason
- 20:15Speaker 1: I keep bringing it up is that black people function
- 20:18Speaker 1: in this country and we don't get credit for how
- 20:21Speaker 1: we function. And that's what racism is all about. And
- 20:24Speaker 1: we don't get in function and that's the problem we're
- 20:26Speaker 1: having right now with with with with the with these
- 20:29Speaker 1: Confederate statutes. See, if you actually taught our history, it
- 20:33Speaker 1: put us in the history books, You're clearly understand those
- 20:36Speaker 1: statues should never have been up. You'll clearly understand what
- 20:39Speaker 1: we've had to do. But they take all that Jim
- 20:41Speaker 1: Crow out of the history books use because white people
- 20:44Speaker 1: don't want to feel uncomfortable reading about how they treated blacks.
- 20:48Speaker 1: They don't feel uncomfortable how they were hanging blacks, how
- 20:51Speaker 1: they were denying blacks opportunities. That's uncomfortable part of history.
- 20:54Speaker 1: So flash forward, they go, what's the problem, what's the
- 20:58Speaker 1: problem with the flag? What's prob would the statues the heroes?
- 21:05Speaker 1: Because they removed all that information as to why they
- 21:08Speaker 1: are not heroes to the people in power and for
- 21:12Speaker 1: the people who have suffered. The indignity is because of
- 21:16Speaker 1: that situation that they put us in. And So when
- 21:18Speaker 1: I see your app and I see technology, because that's
- 21:22Speaker 1: the one thing that came out of this whole pandemic
- 21:24Speaker 1: for me, that black people we got to put our
- 21:28Speaker 1: foot to the metal and technology, Yeah, yeah, I agree
- 21:32Speaker 1: with that on a percent. And technology is the great
- 21:35Speaker 1: uh equalizer. If you will. To your point, we all
- 21:38Speaker 1: have the same phone. Uh there's more technology and the
- 21:42Speaker 1: phones that we have today than there was and they
- 21:44Speaker 1: put someone on the moon, um, you know, fifty years ago.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So the power is there. But we have another fundamental problem,
- 21:53Speaker 1: which you what you remind me of, right, thirty six
- 21:56Speaker 1: percent of black households do not have internet or computer access.
- 22:01Speaker 1: That's right, you know, so we have to deal with
- 22:04Speaker 1: some fundamental Banking is a fundamental thing. It's mobile, and
- 22:08Speaker 1: I think that allows us to bank the way we
- 22:10Speaker 1: want to be banked because we're pretty sophisticated. People give
- 22:13Speaker 1: us a good product, and that's what that That's what
- 22:16Speaker 1: I'm saying. There's twenty five. We got to move that
- 22:18Speaker 1: number because we don't know. I'm gonna tell you some man,
- 22:23Speaker 1: nobody likes just giving away their money. Okay, nobody likes
- 22:26Speaker 1: going down to those check cashing place. I know nobody
- 22:28Speaker 1: leaves they're happy. I never see anybody click their heels
- 22:32Speaker 1: come out of the check cashing man. Okay, Like I said,
- 22:35Speaker 1: they gotta budge you in. It's just just like going
- 22:37Speaker 1: into jail. Took get your money. It's term. It's terrible,
- 22:41Speaker 1: and so and so and so when I and and
- 22:43Speaker 1: it just and so when I when I hear you're talking.
- 22:46Speaker 1: That's why I have to realize that that that they're
- 22:49Speaker 1: the opportunity with this phone to be let them know
- 22:52Speaker 1: there's more than just a phone, because through limited education,
- 22:55Speaker 1: that's all we think there is. We think I talk,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I text, I take photos, that sit app because those
- 23:01Speaker 1: apps have no value to them. They don't care about
- 23:05Speaker 1: running the call, they don't care about airline, airline tickets,
- 23:09Speaker 1: they don't care about a lot of things that are
- 23:10Speaker 1: important to you and I. All they care about is
- 23:13Speaker 1: their money. And there's no there to not knowledge. There's
- 23:17Speaker 1: no app on there that can help them with their money.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And that's what we got to educate our people about.
- 23:23Speaker 1: That's right. What we think about the world in three plays,
- 23:25Speaker 1: in three ways. One, we want to get people banged.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Sent to your point, half of African Americans are unbanked
- 23:34Speaker 1: or underbanked. That's that we don't have to live that way.
- 23:37Speaker 1: The second is we want to help people build their
- 23:38Speaker 1: credit score. And um we're doing through rent payments. We
- 23:42Speaker 1: report to the two of the bureaus and that and
- 23:45Speaker 1: of the self consadium money. Because you know there are
- 23:47Speaker 1: these credit repair places that most could charge you, you know,
- 23:51Speaker 1: hundred dollars, two hundred dollars to get you fifty points.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Um see the commercials, I see the commercial on our platform.
- 23:59Speaker 1: You know you can. We can take up to two
- 24:01Speaker 1: years of rental history. And this is not gonna be
- 24:04Speaker 1: true for everybody, but the statistics suggests that over will
- 24:08Speaker 1: see and improvement in their credit score. We have seen
- 24:11Speaker 1: people get up to fifty to points of credit score
- 24:16Speaker 1: improvement by taking rent payments and going back two years.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And that can be done in a relatively short period
- 24:22Speaker 1: of time. So that's the second part. And then the
- 24:24Speaker 1: third part. If you've got your banking right, if you've
- 24:27Speaker 1: got your credit score right, then we can start talking
- 24:30Speaker 1: about how do we build wealth. Can you buy a house?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Can you start that, uh, that new business? Can you
- 24:38Speaker 1: think about maybe putting some couple of dollars aside and
- 24:41Speaker 1: putting it in the stock market? So how do we
- 24:44Speaker 1: start to create? And then what we do is we
- 24:46Speaker 1: provide coaches free to people that understand you that a
- 24:52Speaker 1: coach that looks like your your cousin or your sister,
- 24:55Speaker 1: who you know it's got your best interest in heart,
- 24:57Speaker 1: not just trying to sell you the next shiny object. Um,
- 25:03Speaker 1: so we're trying to think about it holistically and tell
- 25:06Speaker 1: in terms of banking, building credit and then creating wealth
- 25:10Speaker 1: in our communities. And so I'm with you. You want
- 25:12Speaker 1: to I don't want the twenty five thousand, Well, next
- 25:15Speaker 1: time I come on your show, I wanted to be
- 25:16Speaker 1: a hundred thousand. It has to be. And I'm not
- 25:20Speaker 1: saying that in a negative manner. I just don't know that.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I just know that, you know that. That's all I
- 25:26Speaker 1: do is market you know. I just think of ways
- 25:28Speaker 1: of being able to get the message out and that
- 25:31Speaker 1: messages that phone and and understand it's almost like you
- 25:34Speaker 1: know what, you know what a noys to me? Like
- 25:36Speaker 1: you you you're you're buy a phone, or you buy
- 25:38Speaker 1: a computer, you get a remote and Netflix already on
- 25:40Speaker 1: the remote, it's already. If you don't have if you
- 25:46Speaker 1: don't is there, it is there already, you know what
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm saying. And so so in my mind, I'm sitting
- 25:51Speaker 1: over here, how can I get his app phone? I'm
- 25:54Speaker 1: saying right there, That's where I'm at right now. I'm
- 25:57Speaker 1: trying to figure out how can I not have his
- 26:00Speaker 1: app standard on every black phone in the minority community.
- 26:04Speaker 1: How can we how can we not make that happen?
- 26:07Speaker 1: Because I see it happening with Netflix, right I this
- 26:14Speaker 1: happened on the regular. You know, you look at you,
- 26:16Speaker 1: look at TV. Twitter already getting self promoted to follow Twitter,
- 26:20Speaker 1: follow Facebook, you know all of you know, follow, follow,
- 26:23Speaker 1: all these all these different brands. You are a brand,
- 26:27Speaker 1: coax them. And my mind is like, how can I
- 26:30Speaker 1: get this brand to become relevant to the black community.
- 26:33Speaker 1: One of the ways it has to become a standard
- 26:35Speaker 1: bearer for opportunity. And we have to talk to the
- 26:39Speaker 1: right people. And right now, right now, everybody's talking about diversity.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Everybody's talking about trying to help out black people, trying
- 26:46Speaker 1: to equal the playing field. My man, you have the software.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Now you have to talk to the right people. Go look,
- 26:55Speaker 1: if you're trying to help the black community, to get
- 26:57Speaker 1: them out of those check hashes. I got it here.
- 27:00Speaker 1: There's no agenda tie to it. Make it, make it
- 27:03Speaker 1: a make it a loadable feature, right right, let's right,
- 27:12Speaker 1: that's ada. That's that's that's a great idea. That's exactly right,
- 27:16Speaker 1: and it's just right there. People don't have to think
- 27:18Speaker 1: about it, just just sign up. And that's the other thing.
- 27:22Speaker 1: So many of us may find ourselves if we were
- 27:25Speaker 1: to go to a traditional bank excluded because they might check.
- 27:30Speaker 1: They might they do check the check system. And if
- 27:34Speaker 1: you have a history of UM a bank account problem,
- 27:39Speaker 1: they're not gonna open up account for you. We don't
- 27:41Speaker 1: have that problem. We want everybody right. We just want
- 27:44Speaker 1: to make sure you are you stare you are. You
- 27:46Speaker 1: can open up your account. It takes three minutes and
- 27:48Speaker 1: at the end of the process, you've got your six
- 27:51Speaker 1: team digital account number. You can start charging, and you've
- 27:54Speaker 1: got your UM account number and routing number. You can
- 27:59Speaker 1: start doing rectorposit and keep this. In the coming couple
- 28:04Speaker 1: of weeks, we're gonna have a set up that you
- 28:05Speaker 1: can get your paycheck two days early if you do
- 28:09Speaker 1: director posit with us. Okay, cool, I'm in. I'm in.
- 28:13Speaker 1: You know. We need to stay in touch her, all right.
- 28:16Speaker 1: We need to stay in touch from the standpoint of UH,
- 28:20Speaker 1: any tool I have available because in the end, I've
- 28:25Speaker 1: been fortunate. I'm just have a natural drive just like you. UM.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You know, we all have different hands that we have
- 28:31Speaker 1: been dealt. But it's what you deal with those opportunities.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So and I don't feel that I'm I can't be
- 28:37Speaker 1: happy if everybody if I'm not at least sharing the
- 28:41Speaker 1: gifts that God has given me. And that's what this is,
- 28:43Speaker 1: what this interview is about. And uh, and I just
- 28:46Speaker 1: wanted my my my take on this would let you know,
- 28:49Speaker 1: I get what you do with my friend, I get it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta, we gotta quadruple that number. We
- 28:56Speaker 1: gotta we gotta do some mad math. Or my degree
- 28:58Speaker 1: is in mathematics. We gotta do mad math on that
- 29:01Speaker 1: number because if we if we don't, then we're not
- 29:05Speaker 1: doing what it's purpose. We're not. The purpose of it
- 29:08Speaker 1: is to is to engage African America or people of
- 29:11Speaker 1: color financially to a level playing field, better credit, better
- 29:17Speaker 1: banking that we pay more fees than anybody. We got
- 29:20Speaker 1: to stop all that, right right, and and you know
- 29:24Speaker 1: what happens you give us a level playing field. Guess
- 29:27Speaker 1: who wins? We do all the time, and guess who
- 29:32Speaker 1: else wins? The country wins. And that's what makes me
- 29:34Speaker 1: mad about racism. I always tell people, you know what,
- 29:36Speaker 1: some man all my life, I'm I'm a black man.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I groping up black. All I ever wounded man was
- 29:42Speaker 1: the was the lifestyle of a white person. That's why
- 29:45Speaker 1: I went to college to get educated so I can
- 29:48Speaker 1: live in a better neighborhood. All I've ever wanted was
- 29:50Speaker 1: my child to have a better life than I have.
- 29:52Speaker 1: What does the same values to everybody in America wants.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But because when you try to pursue these values, people
- 29:58Speaker 1: looking at it because of our color, the color skating,
- 30:01Speaker 1: we're not giving equal opportunity to have that same opportunity
- 30:04Speaker 1: because guess what, they don't want us to move into suburbs,
- 30:06Speaker 1: then we don't want us to move in the better
- 30:08Speaker 1: they woods. And so when I say this, I'm not
- 30:10Speaker 1: saying this as a as a radical person. I'm just
- 30:13Speaker 1: saying the facts is you give us an opportunity, we
- 30:17Speaker 1: become better taxpaying citizens. The community gets better, the education
- 30:22Speaker 1: gets better, the jail system is less important in our community,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and America wins. That is how you make America better. Well,
- 30:34Speaker 1: the that is a that is very true. I can't
- 30:38Speaker 1: agree with that more. And the reality is um that
- 30:43Speaker 1: if we do become fully a part of the economy,
- 30:46Speaker 1: the whole place gets better. Yes, and we're able to
- 30:49Speaker 1: get all votes rise. It's not. It's not at the
- 30:52Speaker 1: expense of somebody else. All votes rise. And that's what
- 30:55Speaker 1: we got to keep in mind. My friend, we will
- 30:58Speaker 1: talk soon. You just let me know if you want
- 31:00Speaker 1: to a zoom call or whatever. Um and my passion
- 31:03Speaker 1: and my God, the talents the God gave him. My
- 31:06Speaker 1: DNA is allied with what you're trying to do. Let's
- 31:10Speaker 1: let's let's just change the world, Okay, especially in the
- 31:12Speaker 1: minority communities. All right, all day, I'm your partner on that.
