- 0:24Speaker 2: Now it's time to hear from my man, Rashaan McDonald
- 0:27Speaker 2: money Making Conversations.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Hi, I'm Rashaan McDonald. I host the Money Making Conversation
- 0:34Speaker 3: Masterclass show. The interviews and information this show provides off
- 0:38Speaker 3: for everyone. It's time to stop reading other people's success
- 0:41Speaker 3: stories and start living your own. My guess is George Wallace.
- 0:44Speaker 3: He is the author one of my favorite books, or
- 0:46Speaker 3: Twit and Whatnot. We would discuss the current SAG and
- 0:49Speaker 3: wj's strike and his long term impact.
- 0:52Speaker 1: George Wallace's laughter has always been.
- 0:54Speaker 3: The best medicine and he has a small business mindset
- 0:57Speaker 3: which is giving him a career filled with longeviy. He
- 1:00Speaker 3: just start you know, we're suppos to be talking about
- 1:02Speaker 3: the sitcom because of the striker won't be able to
- 1:03Speaker 3: talk about that.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Then he just stopped that.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You called clean slate with normal Leo Laveron Cox. It's
- 1:09Speaker 3: a very talented brother. Saw him lying out the door
- 1:11Speaker 3: with my good friend j Anthony Brown, let you know,
- 1:14Speaker 3: and Myra j would let me know that stand up
- 1:16Speaker 3: comedy is live and well if you're over sixty. George
- 1:19Speaker 3: was with Metro Media back in nineteen seventy four, making
- 1:22Speaker 3: seventy five thousand dollars a year selling Rags Rags, so
- 1:27Speaker 3: he truly is a Rags the Richest Story. Please welcome
- 1:30Speaker 3: to Money Making Conversation Masterclass, Doctor George Waller, Doctor George Wallers.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Who wrote that story for you? That ain't that's not
- 1:37Speaker 4: you just make up. That's a line to think that
- 1:41Speaker 4: a big line? How old?
- 1:43Speaker 5: Thank you for having me today.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Hey, Jeorge, First of all, you came in my office
- 1:48Speaker 3: and told this incredible story about rags and that's what
- 1:51Speaker 3: you was doing in New York City. Can you explain
- 1:54Speaker 3: to the audience because that really has created that small
- 1:57Speaker 3: businessman mentalent and you always been a salesman. Talk about
- 2:02Speaker 3: what you do do for a living before you started
- 2:04Speaker 3: doing stand up comedy.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Well, most important, you're talking about being a salesperson. We
- 2:08Speaker 4: all deal with sales every day. If you're not selling,
- 2:11Speaker 4: you're not living. You've got to sell you first, and
- 2:14Speaker 4: you sell your products. And today our product and my
- 2:17Speaker 4: product is laughter. So I always wanted to be a
- 2:19Speaker 4: comedian six years old, but I had to find a
- 2:22Speaker 4: beagle on an avenue to go to find out how
- 2:26Speaker 4: can I make money so I don't have to starve
- 2:29Speaker 4: while I'm in show business. Then I studied advertising and
- 2:32Speaker 4: I found out that to be a good way to
- 2:34Speaker 4: make a lot of money and no time and being
- 2:36Speaker 4: a good salesperson. So I did that. I sold rags,
- 2:41Speaker 4: Cleveland cotton products. I sold the sham Wow back in
- 2:45Speaker 4: nineteen seventy two. Nineteen seventy two didn't even have a
- 2:52Speaker 4: sham wow. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 4: product from dentist office.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I used to have.
- 3:01Speaker 4: A linen cloth, but now you notice it's it's a
- 3:05Speaker 4: handy white with a plastic backing that will absorb the water.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So but so real rights to gas stations. You're old
- 3:13Speaker 4: enough to know you went to the gas station, ding, ding,
- 3:15Speaker 4: That was what would ring and the guy will come
- 3:17Speaker 4: out check you all and white people. So those are rags.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Everybody needs the rags rag. You'd be surprised. The doctors,
- 3:23Speaker 4: the dentists, the restaurants, stuff their homes, body shops. Everybody
- 3:27Speaker 4: needs rags. And so I got caught up in that,
- 3:30Speaker 4: and they told me I can make a lot of money,
- 3:31Speaker 4: and sure enough I did, and life has just been
- 3:35Speaker 4: because I sold a lot of rags and rags I
- 3:37Speaker 4: sold to New York City UH Transit Authority, and then
- 3:41Speaker 4: I sold. After I sold the rags to them, I
- 3:43Speaker 4: started selling advertisers on the buses and subways and billboards
- 3:46Speaker 4: in New York Metromedia to Time. So that's that's how
- 3:50Speaker 4: I moved from That's how I transitioned. You gotta be
- 3:53Speaker 4: careful how you use the word transition. Now I transitioned.
- 3:59Speaker 4: I transitioned from rags to advertising. You gotta be you
- 4:03Speaker 4: gotta transition. I'm working with wordors and I'm running a
- 4:06Speaker 4: whole little bit of right. I don't want to tell
- 4:08Speaker 4: I can tell you this. I'm transitioning aw myself into
- 4:11Speaker 4: an old man. So you got to be careful how
- 4:13Speaker 4: you I'm starting to work with one hand.
- 4:14Speaker 3: But Joy, But Joy, let's slow down to that old
- 4:17Speaker 3: man talk, because sometimes people do allow age to be
- 4:21Speaker 3: an excuse, and you've never allowed age to be an
- 4:24Speaker 3: excuse with you. And I say that because of the
- 4:27Speaker 3: fact that when I went and saw you and j
- 4:29Speaker 3: Anthony Brown.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It was all age groups.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And in fact, I took a video of the line
- 4:35Speaker 3: that was down the street and send it to you guys,
- 4:37Speaker 3: and a photo. Not that I was shocked, It's just
- 4:40Speaker 3: let you see the diversity of people from gender, to
- 4:45Speaker 3: age to everything ethnicity that were appealing to your style
- 4:50Speaker 3: of comedy.
- 4:50Speaker 1: What is your style of comedy, George Wallace?
- 4:54Speaker 4: I wish, I wish I can I describe it? I
- 4:56Speaker 4: know everybody's that your old people, young people, black people,
- 4:59Speaker 4: white people, hip hopers and gang bangers, preachers, liars, everybody,
- 5:04Speaker 4: because that's what I do. They you know, I appeal
- 5:06Speaker 4: to everybody because I just have fun and I love everybody.
- 5:09Speaker 4: And right now the new thing is young kids. I
- 5:12Speaker 4: guess you call them Generation x Z. They're bringing their
- 5:15Speaker 4: parents to the show because they've never seen their parents
- 5:18Speaker 4: laugh out loud, and so when I go and promote
- 5:22Speaker 4: the show, because they know me as mister Washing little
- 5:25Speaker 4: things like that. But these young kids now are bringing
- 5:27Speaker 4: their parents out to a live show to see George Wallace,
- 5:31Speaker 4: and I have jokes for the young people. I tell
- 5:32Speaker 4: the young people the old people don't understand them, and
- 5:35Speaker 4: I understand them. With the hip hop music and the
- 5:38Speaker 4: names and just how we all can get together.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It's a blend of my appeal. That's what it is.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I just love entertaining everybody, young, old, black and white.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Diversity is there, and I just love talking because I
- 5:53Speaker 4: don't really have a show. I just go up there
- 5:55Speaker 4: and start talking.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Well, you know, I did tell Orr about Joe Wallace me.
- 6:01Speaker 3: George Wallers has been in my life over thirty years.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I met George Wallace when I went up to New
- 6:06Speaker 3: York City to be a stand up comedian and catch
- 6:08Speaker 3: a rising star. I was just sitting at the bar
- 6:11Speaker 3: and he asked me what're doing in there.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I said, I'm trying to be a That's what That's how.
- 6:17Speaker 3: That's how I was introduced to George Waller. He walked
- 6:19Speaker 3: to me at the bar because it wasn't that many
- 6:21Speaker 3: black people.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I wasn't I was gonna have to say for nobody
- 6:24Speaker 4: but me and you.
- 6:26Speaker 3: You George said, what are you doing in here?
- 6:32Speaker 4: Boy?
- 6:33Speaker 3: I said, trying to be a stabish commed and we
- 6:35Speaker 3: have been us in eighty six.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That was eighty eight, and we have been friends every since.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Because a lot of people need to understand that comedy
- 6:44Speaker 3: was at one time just white comedy clubs to white
- 6:47Speaker 3: comedy club hit George totally.
- 6:52Speaker 4: It's almost like that it was so white that they
- 6:54Speaker 4: didn't even want black comedians in there. To addition to hosting,
- 6:57Speaker 4: we even put them on the show, even when you
- 6:59Speaker 4: got to long saying was at the comedy store in
- 7:01Speaker 4: nineteen eighty nine ninety you would never see more than
- 7:05Speaker 4: two blacks on a shelf.
- 7:07Speaker 5: And one time happened.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I went on with me and Mooney and Richard Pown
- 7:11Speaker 4: and at the time, the N word was prevalent.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I was just on three.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Turner row, three turn and roll. Bet you won't ever
- 7:18Speaker 4: see that no more three those in a row.
- 7:24Speaker 3: He's telling the truth, because that's how I met j
- 7:25Speaker 3: Anthony the Brown by accident, because it was in Mobile,
- 7:29Speaker 3: Alabama at the Punchline. Because they would never book two
- 7:32Speaker 3: blacks on the same show, especially a black middle act
- 7:35Speaker 3: and a headlining that on the same show, and it
- 7:38Speaker 3: was that transition and what happened to the headline of canceled,
- 7:41Speaker 3: and that's how Jay got on the show. And that's
- 7:43Speaker 3: how I met j Anthony Brown. And it's really because
- 7:46Speaker 3: people I have to bring up that scenario because that
- 7:48Speaker 3: ain't that long ago that people were booking people like this.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And what we had to deal with that. And then
- 7:56Speaker 1: came Death Comedy Jam.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Wow, damnastic Death coming to town.
- 8:01Speaker 4: So the young African American kids, they went off and
- 8:04Speaker 4: did their own thing back.
- 8:05Speaker 5: In the day.
- 8:05Speaker 4: The young kids, they could express themselves because at that
- 8:09Speaker 4: time it was on the ABC, CBS and NBC.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's right.
- 8:13Speaker 4: And I did tonight's show. You couldn't cuss, you couldn't
- 8:17Speaker 4: express yourself. And then Death Jeff came and that just
- 8:21Speaker 4: blew up. And that's thank God for Death Jam and
- 8:24Speaker 4: the comic view and all of the things for the
- 8:26Speaker 4: young black comedians can go out and work to young
- 8:29Speaker 4: comedians and they worked at and they were working a
- 8:31Speaker 4: real good Thank God for that a transition.
- 8:34Speaker 3: But George, see here's George. See George was controlling all
- 8:38Speaker 3: the checks, all right. He had the white folks comfortable.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Then he came over to death Jam and made the
- 8:44Speaker 3: black folks come. So George was playing the black folks
- 8:48Speaker 3: and the white folks. That made you unique, George, Because
- 8:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you this, when I death Jam, because
- 8:54Speaker 3: I played all white comedy club, they didn't.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Think I could make black people laugh. Did you ever
- 8:58Speaker 1: run into that?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Oh? Because the black people that loved me, they saw
- 9:03Speaker 4: me also in our senior they knew I could make
- 9:05Speaker 4: him laugh, right, So that's what happened there. So I
- 9:08Speaker 4: was transitioning there. And at the time, don't forget now
- 9:10Speaker 4: it was only the white stations. They were so happy
- 9:13Speaker 4: to see any black person, the different fun and jokes.
- 9:18Speaker 4: They loved me from the white shows because they did
- 9:20Speaker 4: watch them Tonight show. And so the black people always
- 9:23Speaker 4: followed me from day one. And thank god, I have
- 9:26Speaker 4: a great crowd. I'm so blessed, you know. And I
- 9:29Speaker 4: used to be known as clean Christian comedian.
- 9:31Speaker 5: I'm still Christian. Bla ain't clean.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I'm about to say, as Wills went on that random
- 9:39Speaker 3: or that ramble that were viral by.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Will's men, that wasn't no Christian clean comedy. You did that?
- 9:44Speaker 5: Brother, Listen to me.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And the first person that called me was Bishop Blake,
- 9:50Speaker 4: Bister Blake. He was the first person to call me
- 9:52Speaker 4: and said, I said, I know I'm in trouble doing that.
- 9:54Speaker 4: He said, man, do your thing. I laughed my butt off,
- 9:57Speaker 4: that's what he said. And it's just like it's so good,
- 9:59Speaker 4: you know. Uh so, But now it's time for me
- 10:02Speaker 4: to cuss. Let me tell you something. I've been at
- 10:05Speaker 4: Christian Committee for forty seven years and there's so many
- 10:07Speaker 4: ways to cuss. Now you got to cuss. You got
- 10:09Speaker 4: all of these white folks getting on my nerve. Man,
- 10:12Speaker 4: this let me tip about the white people. I'm talking
- 10:14Speaker 4: about George Clarence Thomas. Just let me tell you, so
- 10:19Speaker 4: these white people are getting Curstia Walker hurt. White people
- 10:24Speaker 4: getting on my nerve. If you understand what I'm saying,
- 10:26Speaker 4: what's a man named West down in Florida. They're getting
- 10:29Speaker 4: on my nerve.
- 10:31Speaker 5: I'm getting.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Hey, man, you're gonna get my show pulled off stream
- 10:36Speaker 3: at the top on that. This is the fact that
- 10:39Speaker 3: we're talking about money. I take everything back.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Because here's the thing about you, George. This is the
- 10:44Speaker 1: right George. I'm gonna tell you something about George Wallace.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I've seen him first of all, he gets reverenced when
- 10:49Speaker 3: he comes in the room.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Okay, all comedians go.
- 10:52Speaker 3: They just stopped talking when George Waller walking on, because
- 10:55Speaker 3: you're walking in history and you're talking about longevity.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And that's all we want is business is love jevity.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And you've been able to accomplish this to because even
- 11:03Speaker 3: when Hollywood wasn't booking him, guess what he did. He
- 11:07Speaker 3: went to Las Vegas and full walled his own show.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Correct, Yes, sir, I went to Las Vegas for thirty
- 11:13Speaker 4: days and then sixty days and ninety days, and I said,
- 11:18Speaker 4: you know what, I'm just going to create my own
- 11:20Speaker 4: market and own the show.
- 11:22Speaker 5: I never worked for the hotels.
- 11:24Speaker 4: I full You can explain to them what full warlling.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Is, which means that you're going in. You say I
- 11:30Speaker 1: want that room.
- 11:31Speaker 3: You rent that room, You pay for the talent to
- 11:32Speaker 3: come in there, You paid for the lights to come on,
- 11:34Speaker 3: you pay for the staff. Then you all the expenses
- 11:38Speaker 3: come back, and that's your profit for the advertising.
- 11:41Speaker 5: You go out and shake hands. You got to do
- 11:43Speaker 5: your street walk.
- 11:43Speaker 4: You got it all your work promoting promotions and I
- 11:48Speaker 4: love that, you know, and I love talking to people
- 11:49Speaker 4: and going out shaking hands, and I didn't kiss no babies,
- 11:52Speaker 4: but I did shake hands. And I wound up there
- 11:55Speaker 4: from thirty days and turned into fifteen years, and so
- 11:59Speaker 4: I did it on my own.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It was that long fifteen years.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I did ten years at the Flamingo, in five years
- 12:04Speaker 4: at the Westgate Wow, and I did that. I've worked
- 12:07Speaker 4: Lost Vegas longer than any African American ever, longer than
- 12:11Speaker 4: I've gone more shows than Red Fox seven, Davis.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Junior, Diana Ross, Lena Horn.
- 12:16Speaker 4: And I thank God for those names that I just
- 12:18Speaker 4: mentioned because they paved the way for me. But I
- 12:23Speaker 4: really love Las Vegas and I'm going to go back
- 12:25Speaker 4: next year. I quit Las Vegas because of a pandemic
- 12:30Speaker 4: in twenty nineteen, right, and I don't want to talk
- 12:33Speaker 4: about that. I don't know whether I lost five friends
- 12:35Speaker 4: during the pandemic. And right, they didn't have COVID. They
- 12:39Speaker 4: just owe me money. And know when you get in
- 12:41Speaker 4: the money.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Hey, Joe, let me ask you this, brother.
- 12:45Speaker 3: When I think about social media, okay, because you know
- 12:51Speaker 3: you have a lot of comedians out there who are
- 12:53Speaker 3: really popular. Has social media changed how we look at
- 12:57Speaker 3: stand up comedians. We're looking at their social media. Uh,
- 13:00Speaker 3: followers versus the ability to hold an audience with laughter.
- 13:05Speaker 4: It has changed totally and I've done a little but
- 13:11Speaker 4: not enough.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Right now, I'm.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Engaging into hiring a social media staff, a group to
- 13:18Speaker 4: help me promote myself.
- 13:20Speaker 5: I don't do enough tack. I don't see how old
- 13:23Speaker 5: I am. I don't enough.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You post on tick tack, I swear you won't get
- 13:28Speaker 1: a follower.
- 13:29Speaker 5: I can see.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I can assure you.
- 13:30Speaker 4: That I need a tick tack right now.
- 13:32Speaker 5: You can smell my breath over to TV.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir, yes.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Breath at night.
- 13:38Speaker 3: You know that's bad, absolutely, absolutely absolutely. But you know
- 13:42Speaker 3: the social media though. But George, but you've always been
- 13:46Speaker 3: ahead of the curve, you know, as far as technology,
- 13:49Speaker 3: you know, acting stand up, crossover talk shows like I said,
- 13:55Speaker 3: we would have to say, like you mentioned our Senior
- 13:57Speaker 3: or Hall earlier man the moment you did so Senior,
- 14:00Speaker 3: especially when you closed out his show that time, his
- 14:03Speaker 3: last dal show that was like legendary stand up. When
- 14:07Speaker 3: he went out, he went on Senior Show last episode
- 14:11Speaker 3: and put up for sale sign on everything that was
- 14:13Speaker 3: on the show, including on Senior Hall.
- 14:15Speaker 4: All this Facale got what We'll be right back with more.

- 15:38Speaker 3: He went on Senior Whole Show last episode and put
- 15:41Speaker 3: up for sale sign on everything that was on the show,
- 15:44Speaker 3: including on Senior Hall.
- 15:46Speaker 4: All this all this just for sale, dots for the
- 15:50Speaker 4: job sign. I said, I love you and I got
- 15:59Speaker 4: to say this your last night and I gotta say this.
- 16:02Speaker 4: All this suffers for sale, that shares for sale, everything
- 16:08Speaker 4: in his for sale.
- 16:09Speaker 5: That was really good.
- 16:10Speaker 4: But yeah, social media has done amazing for the young
- 16:12Speaker 4: new comedians. And I love the young comedians. I don't
- 16:15Speaker 4: care what medium you use. If you can put in
- 16:17Speaker 4: the seats and make some money, do it, do it,
- 16:20Speaker 4: do it. That's what I tell the young kids. And
- 16:22Speaker 4: they're doing a great job. Well you do it?
- 16:25Speaker 1: How you how you promote yourself?
- 16:27Speaker 3: Are you promote yourself through through television interviews?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Radio interview, TV interview?
- 16:32Speaker 3: Because you was talking about you want to get more
- 16:34Speaker 3: involved than social media.
- 16:36Speaker 4: You shall take it the old way, rash And I
- 16:39Speaker 4: still do it the old way and now I'm doing
- 16:41Speaker 4: it the new way. I go in and advertise on Facebook.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I am advertising on TikTok and and Instagram. Now what
- 16:48Speaker 4: I'm not doing I'm not being on the Instagram every
- 16:50Speaker 4: day in TikTok. Like I said, all I do is
- 16:53Speaker 4: talk trash. Why don't I do it and just pick
- 16:55Speaker 4: up the phone and do it like the other kids do.
- 16:58Speaker 4: I gotta transcend and transcend and to that person because
- 17:01Speaker 4: it was very easy for me to do and because
- 17:03Speaker 4: there's a whole new market out there. Plus my old
- 17:06Speaker 4: market people my age, they don't use social media as much,
- 17:10Speaker 4: so you got to create yourself into a new market.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Get these young kids to come out and see you.
- 17:15Speaker 5: We know this.
- 17:16Speaker 3: We're in an interesting period now because of entertainment. You know,
- 17:19Speaker 3: we survived COVID and now we're in the middle of
- 17:22Speaker 3: a WGA SAG strike.
- 17:24Speaker 1: First WGA strike happening, SACKS strike happened.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And it's really interesting because, like you said earlier, it
- 17:29Speaker 3: used to be just ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and we
- 17:32Speaker 3: were just happen. Then cable came along and we got
- 17:34Speaker 3: excited because there was a new territories whereas a stand
- 17:37Speaker 3: up comedian we could actually start remember the HBO specials
- 17:41Speaker 3: as you got an HBO special your career, sky Rodickan
- 17:45Speaker 3: and now say something, well, well, it's the.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Same thing that happened with tonight. When I did that
- 17:51Speaker 4: Tonight show, I did it on Thursday night and Friday night,
- 17:54Speaker 4: I was in front of seventeen seventeen thousand people. That's
- 17:57Speaker 4: what TV did back in the day. Yeah, in the day,
- 18:00Speaker 4: if you did the Tonight Show, you made it especially black.
- 18:04Speaker 4: You know, I make a lot of money back then.
- 18:06Speaker 4: But now these kids that make jone show, look at
- 18:08Speaker 4: the guy great greatest example is probably Country Wayne as
- 18:12Speaker 4: a commedian named Country Wayne.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Right all of the country.
- 18:15Speaker 4: All of the comedians are learning from him and doing
- 18:17Speaker 4: it and creating an own market. Laval Walker. Some of
- 18:22Speaker 4: these comedians got your own TV shows, their own media.
- 18:25Speaker 4: It's just great and I wish I could keep up
- 18:26Speaker 4: with these young kids. Let's make it perfectly clear. I
- 18:29Speaker 4: made a lot of money. I could retire tomorrow. I've
- 18:32Speaker 4: done my thing, but I'm not in it for money,
- 18:34Speaker 4: to be honest.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I just love what I do, right, And that's important
- 18:38Speaker 3: that you say that because of the fact that as
- 18:40Speaker 3: we transition to streaming now that's one of the bigger
- 18:43Speaker 3: complaints now that actors and.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Look, I'm a member of SAG. You remember of SAG.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I remember of writers guil so I know that, and
- 18:51Speaker 3: let me just help everybody educated by a little bit.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I started writing.
- 18:55Speaker 3: On TV and eighty ninety three on me and the
- 18:58Speaker 3: Boy Steve Harris's first show. Yes, yeah, and we used
- 19:01Speaker 3: to do like twenty two to twenty four episodes, and
- 19:04Speaker 3: so when we got a writer's job, we clap because
- 19:07Speaker 3: we start working June and we basically in the first
- 19:10Speaker 3: week of March, so basically just three months you out
- 19:13Speaker 3: of work. But now they aredered in eight episodes, ordering
- 19:17Speaker 3: ten episodes, and then in a certain situations, some production
- 19:21Speaker 3: companies that do two episodes a day or just run.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Them and just keep running them.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So people who will cameraman staff grips, they're losing their
- 19:32Speaker 3: daily wages.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So is that the really of the problem, George, with
- 19:35Speaker 1: the whole strike.
- 19:36Speaker 4: It's a big problem because now let's just take the
- 19:39Speaker 4: shows that I just I'm an executive producer, me, Norman
- 19:43Speaker 4: Lere and Laburne Conx. We're on a side work. We're
- 19:46Speaker 4: on Amazon. We get paid one time. That's why we're
- 19:50Speaker 4: on strike. We get paid one time in one lump something,
- 19:53Speaker 4: as opposed to regular TV you get residuals. So but
- 19:57Speaker 4: it's still showing, it's still showing a a medium ass TV,
- 20:01Speaker 4: but you're not getting paid any money for it.
- 20:04Speaker 3: So, so how do we fix that? Because you know
- 20:07Speaker 3: you can see you know, because let's just be real, George,
- 20:10Speaker 3: because I'm not trying to side with them because I
- 20:13Speaker 3: think they I want my residior checks.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I've been getting Razil checks for thirty five cents.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And I'm not joking when I say that, because can't
- 20:19Speaker 3: nobody tabulate it? Because when it ran on cable TV,
- 20:22Speaker 3: it got syndicated.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You could see it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Okay, that ran there, ran there, But it's streaming. I
- 20:26Speaker 3: don't know who's clicking on the episode. How do you
- 20:29Speaker 3: track that?
- 20:30Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. You don't track it, but they could
- 20:31Speaker 4: track it if they needed to. That's that's why we're
- 20:34Speaker 4: on striketh. They can do anything they want to. They're
- 20:36Speaker 4: making money because they don't have to track the viewers.
- 20:39Speaker 4: They know they're getting viewers. They know the money's coming in.
- 20:41Speaker 4: They're getting the viewers. But in streaming source, you don't
- 20:45Speaker 4: have to pay for it, so that for the entertainers
- 20:47Speaker 4: and the writers have to go on strike to get that.
- 20:50Speaker 4: That's why we're out. We want to get paid because
- 20:54Speaker 4: they can run in and run it for a thousand years.
- 20:55Speaker 4: You never get nothing. Like you just said, I've gotten
- 20:58Speaker 4: a three cent check.
- 21:00Speaker 5: That's because yeah, and the stamp.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Is more than than the check to the check in
- 21:05Speaker 3: the paper and the paper, you know, George, and you know,
- 21:09Speaker 3: you know, we're defining something that's real serious because you
- 21:12Speaker 3: know Atlanta Market, they talking about billions of dollars of
- 21:16Speaker 3: movies that are being shot here annually that are not
- 21:18Speaker 3: being done right now. So that means a lot of
- 21:20Speaker 3: people are not working. A lot of impacted restaurants, caterers, uh,
- 21:24Speaker 3: people in clothing industry, chauffeurs in so many industry.
- 21:30Speaker 5: It trickles down.
- 21:31Speaker 4: What about the local restaurants out there that they're working
- 21:34Speaker 4: for paycheck week the week those restaurants are hurting, they're
- 21:36Speaker 4: going out of business out by the movie coming in
- 21:38Speaker 4: Atlanta and Sabavannah and all those surrounding areas and Los Angeles.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Also, I was very surprised this week.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Uh once the actor that dresses of What's Billy Porter
- 21:51Speaker 4: right here to sell his house tany. That's why I
- 21:55Speaker 4: want to teach the young people, make sure you save
- 21:58Speaker 4: your money and plan and manage your money right, because
- 22:01Speaker 4: once you get in the show Buness, you need a
- 22:03Speaker 4: year's salary in the bank so you can sustain sustainability.
- 22:09Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Maybe he paid a lot of money for those dresses
- 22:13Speaker 4: he wears. I don't know what it is you need.
- 22:16Speaker 4: You have got to save and plan for the future.
- 22:18Speaker 4: You don't know when you're gonna be out. That's one
- 22:20Speaker 4: thing you got to do.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Plan and save.
- 22:22Speaker 4: You see the the we're talking about money now and
- 22:24Speaker 4: I so this is a whole different story. You see
- 22:26Speaker 4: the football players go out there and make twenty million
- 22:28Speaker 4: dollars one year, sixty million dollars a year, and next
- 22:31Speaker 4: thing you know, they're broke. Seventy three percent of all
- 22:33Speaker 4: the football players are broke after they leave the lead.
- 22:36Speaker 4: How do you do that? You don't do that stupid stuff.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Save your money. Don't go out there buying a thousand cars.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Take care of yourself, put your money in the bank,
- 22:44Speaker 4: a live like a normal person. But don't lose your money.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Whatever you do, do not lose your money.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hey, George, stand up or acting? Which is tougher?
- 22:53Speaker 4: Stand up? Are you crazy? Stand up? Because all I
- 22:57Speaker 4: do is lie? I thank God for every day for
- 22:59Speaker 4: what do I have? The greatest job in the world
- 23:01Speaker 4: with Sean. I know you love it.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Joe, I asked you, which is tougher stand up or acting, and.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Then you said stand up. And then you just said
- 23:10Speaker 1: I have the greatest job. I can lie. What did
- 23:12Speaker 1: you misunderstand my question?
- 23:13Speaker 4: I lie every when I hit that stage, I lie.
- 23:15Speaker 4: I will tell a lot of minutes. I loved a lot,
- 23:18Speaker 4: because life is a lot. If you're not lying, you're
- 23:21Speaker 4: not living. Let's make that perfect your clear. Everything you
- 23:24Speaker 4: do in life you present every day. Somebody lied to you.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Every day you go to the Chinese restaurant a fortune cooking.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Here's a guy in the back of the kitchen thirty
- 23:33Speaker 4: three hundred years ago for the rag around and says
- 23:35Speaker 4: swetness soft making fortune cookies, and he knows what the
- 23:39Speaker 4: lucky numbers are. Everything is a lot. I don't care
- 23:42Speaker 4: where you go. It's all a lot. These new mattresses
- 23:45Speaker 4: on TV come in a box. They said, you don't
- 23:47Speaker 4: like it, you can send it back. You try to
- 23:49Speaker 4: put the mattress back in the box. One of Day
- 23:52Speaker 4: Vitamins is a live. One of Day Vitamins says take
- 23:55Speaker 4: one to day. Read your direction says take two. Everything
- 23:58Speaker 4: is a lot. I don't care what you do. You
- 24:00Speaker 4: go to church, the preacher say, I won't be long.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Everybody a lot of you. I don't give what it is.
- 24:05Speaker 4: It's a cheesecake factory. That ain't no that's a restaurant.
- 24:09Speaker 5: And technically it ain't no cake.
- 24:10Speaker 4: It's a pie and technically there's more sugar in it
- 24:14Speaker 4: down there. It's cheese. So the ship called the Sugar
- 24:16Speaker 4: Pie everything. The last time you bought.
- 24:18Speaker 5: A coat from the Brothers and coat battery, that's a lie.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Oh my god, Hey, George, your book Bullet Twitt and whatnot?
- 24:27Speaker 3: It was I got the fairy first one, by the way,
- 24:30Speaker 3: one of my all time favorite books. Every time I
- 24:32Speaker 3: bring you up, you said, hey, I got more that book.
- 24:36Speaker 1: If you haven't bought that book, is it's still available
- 24:39Speaker 1: on Amazon?
- 24:40Speaker 3: Correct, Joe, Yes, it is, okay, and you can also.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Get an on my network on my website.
- 24:46Speaker 1: George Wallers, was it George Wallers doting that? And you
- 24:50Speaker 1: can get that more Twitt and whatnot.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Y'all make more money if you buy it direct from
- 24:54Speaker 4: make nothing from Amazon. Let's be honest with this.
- 24:57Speaker 5: Okay.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Cool?
- 24:58Speaker 3: Now, as an author, that's a whole new you know,
- 25:01Speaker 3: because everything's about time and you know that George, that's
- 25:05Speaker 3: a stand up comedian and so what you can say
- 25:07Speaker 3: on stage.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Because you're so.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Gifted, you could twist that word and make good morning funny,
- 25:12Speaker 3: make good morning funny.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Well I'm cussing on regular television.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Now, well, let's talk about this the book that's really funny.
- 25:22Speaker 3: How did you trust yourself that you could write something
- 25:25Speaker 3: down and people will still translate to humor that you
- 25:29Speaker 3: were expecting them to receive.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Because it's the way I said, my christ and allows
- 25:38Speaker 4: me to doing it.
- 25:39Speaker 5: My personality allows me.
- 25:40Speaker 4: To talk about blind people, allows me to talking about
- 25:42Speaker 4: I don't do a PC show, allows me to cuss.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I would take I would start talking about the rappers
- 25:47Speaker 4: like Walking Flock and Flame. Right, and now I'm cussing
- 25:51Speaker 4: in the book books what I'm talking about that? And
- 25:53Speaker 4: now I can cuss just saying walking flock instead of
- 25:57Speaker 4: the other word.
- 25:59Speaker 5: Like I said, there, my preacher walked up in.
- 26:01Speaker 4: The pool pits. Last time, I said, look at this
- 26:03Speaker 4: Walker Flocker walking up in here. So that's my customer.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Now Walker Flocker and I get the same results. I
- 26:10Speaker 4: get the same results with walker Plocker.
- 26:12Speaker 3: No, I always so I text you the other day
- 26:16Speaker 3: George Waller should have a documentary.
- 26:19Speaker 1: When is that gonna happen.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Well, we got to put that together because you know
- 26:23Speaker 4: you're not the first person to say it. Norman Live
- 26:26Speaker 4: is trying to do it. You want to do it,
- 26:27Speaker 4: everybody want to do but I've got you do it.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I have to put it together with you and somebody
- 26:32Speaker 4: because you don't make better than than Norman does.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Well, you know the thing about it, That's what happened
- 26:36Speaker 3: with Prime Time when he did that special where he
- 26:39Speaker 3: played football and baseball in the same day. You know,
- 26:43Speaker 3: he had to get with the right people that could
- 26:45Speaker 3: understand the vision. Because everybody wants to do it. Everybody
- 26:48Speaker 3: wants to do it. But but you know, in me,
- 26:50Speaker 3: I have a special relationship with you because I always
- 26:53Speaker 3: go back how you impacted me, and I've seen the journey.
- 26:56Speaker 1: You saw me in the hospital.
- 26:56Speaker 3: I'm gonn tell you something, y'all when I was near
- 26:59Speaker 3: death or nineteen nine, this man, I don't know how
- 27:02Speaker 3: he knew I was in the hospital came visited me
- 27:04Speaker 3: in the hospital, and to this day, I always felt
- 27:07Speaker 3: I was one of the great special moments because in
- 27:10Speaker 3: eighteen eighty you were pretty famous.
- 27:11Speaker 1: George Wallace, Well.
- 27:13Speaker 4: You are such a good person. You know, you have
- 27:16Speaker 4: to be give.
- 27:16Speaker 5: What goes around comes around.
- 27:17Speaker 4: What do they say about that?
- 27:19Speaker 5: You have got to be nice for me to have come.
- 27:21Speaker 4: I don't know where I was, but you were in
- 27:23Speaker 4: the hospital in Los Angeles, baby Houston, wherever you were.
- 27:26Speaker 5: But I said, I got go see this guy.
- 27:27Speaker 4: This is a nice guy and I and it was
- 27:29Speaker 4: only what three of us black people in the business
- 27:31Speaker 4: back then.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Yeah, come on it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: What do you see with the future of comed with AI?
- 27:37Speaker 3: Do you think AI will impact stand up comedy?
- 27:40Speaker 4: No matter what, the funny people will always rise to
- 27:43Speaker 4: the top. The cream will rise at the top. No
- 27:45Speaker 4: matter what they said television, they said, they said hip
- 27:48Speaker 4: hop was'm gonna last?
- 27:50Speaker 5: Where is it now?
- 27:51Speaker 4: Fifteen year comedy you always got to laugh because when
- 27:54Speaker 4: you stopped laughing, you stopped living. So comedians were the
- 27:57Speaker 4: funny people will always be there. AI.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I can't do nothing without us.
- 28:02Speaker 4: They can correlate it, put it together, whatever, but they
- 28:06Speaker 4: cannot do it without us. And the comedians are always
- 28:09Speaker 4: going to be number one. That's why it's the hardest
- 28:11Speaker 4: arc form today.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen.
- 28:14Speaker 3: He always said, I'm probably do anything yet laughter is
- 28:20Speaker 3: the best medic of doctor George Wallace. You can find
