- 1:55Speaker 1: my show. I've been a long time Ms. Sean Robinson Illo,
- 2:00Speaker 1: my friend. How are you? It's so great to be
- 2:03Speaker 1: back here. Let me put the word executive producer Sean Robinson,
- 2:07Speaker 1: because you know, Sean, we've known each other a long time.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Originally of course, you know we use hosting the entertainment
- 2:13Speaker 1: magazine show that journey to this journey. We don't see it,
- 2:17Speaker 1: but it is happening now. And you and you're so
- 2:20Speaker 1: popular on your LinkedIn. You know, people really resonate with
- 2:23Speaker 1: your motivational quote and your your lifestyle. You really are
- 2:28Speaker 1: starting to find your voice and maybe you've always had
- 2:30Speaker 1: your voice, but you're using the platform to telling that.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Tell us about that. Well, thank you so much for John.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I really appreciated and uh, you know, just being here
- 2:39Speaker 1: with you is a real blessing to be able to
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know, share my message and uh you know, share
- 2:45Speaker 1: these you know, these new chapters in my life because
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm all about, uh, you know, helping to motivate people
- 2:51Speaker 1: and telling them that you know, you can do many
- 2:54Speaker 1: things by by share, perseverance, they and hard work. Uh
- 3:01Speaker 1: that's you know, That's what I'm about. So you know, um,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you know it spent uh my entire career in front
- 3:10Speaker 1: of the camera, uh doing first started in local news
- 3:14Speaker 1: and my hometown of Detroit, and then work my way
- 3:17Speaker 1: up through so many different news markets and then came
- 3:21Speaker 1: to a national show and national back then met national
- 3:27Speaker 1: because there was no Facebook, Twitter, no social media anything
- 3:31Speaker 1: like that back in n I can't believe it was
- 3:35Speaker 1: so so long ago. And then after spending you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: sixteen years on Access Hollywood, UM started thinking, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: what is next? What's next for me? How do I
- 3:46Speaker 1: how do I you know, use my talents, put what
- 3:50Speaker 1: I've learned to good use, and just started kind of
- 3:53Speaker 1: acquiring different properties, thinking about different projects that I wanted
- 3:58Speaker 1: to do, and really trying to you know, pursue those
- 4:01Speaker 1: goals and and and figure out like what exactly do
- 4:06Speaker 1: I want my my next chapter to look like? And
- 4:08Speaker 1: what do I want my legacy also to be? And
- 4:12Speaker 1: so um, so here we are today. It's um you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: in addition to being an Emmy Award winning journalists, I
- 4:19Speaker 1: now get to add executive producer, as you said, to
- 4:22Speaker 1: my name, which I'm so excited about these new movies
- 4:26Speaker 1: on Lifetime, not one, but two movies on lifetime. So
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm just really very very blessed. So yeah, it's been
- 4:34Speaker 1: a long journey, but it's been one with peaks and
- 4:37Speaker 1: valleys and so um, you know it's led me to
- 4:41Speaker 1: you today. Well, you know the beauty of the valleys
- 4:44Speaker 1: are there are major peaks that really doesn't the valley.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Isn't that so much a valley. It's just a place
- 4:50Speaker 1: to rest so you can clam another peak, and that's
- 4:53Speaker 1: what you're doing every time I've seen you, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: whether it's community and but it all started your in
- 4:58Speaker 1: Atlanta Expellment and abc US came to the forefront of
- 5:02Speaker 1: America during the pandemic era when especially post George Flores
- 5:06Speaker 1: Corporation started making a lot of donations towards HBCUs. And
- 5:10Speaker 1: we've always talked about HBCUs every time I've interviewed your
- 5:13Speaker 1: own money making conversation. Talk about the foundation of that
- 5:17Speaker 1: in Hollywood is dominated by HBCU graduates in the entertainment
- 5:21Speaker 1: industry and you're just one of the leaders in that.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Now behind the camera, talk about the success that you've
- 5:26Speaker 1: got from the educational and the lifestyle that was presented
- 5:28Speaker 1: to you at Spellman. Yeah, you know Spellman gave me
- 5:34Speaker 1: um of an appreciation, a real appreciation for sisterhood. And
- 5:40Speaker 1: also when you empower a girl, she can change the world.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And that was one of the reasons that I started
- 5:48Speaker 1: my foundation. But even before that, you know, I came
- 5:52Speaker 1: from parents who always taught me, if God gives you
- 5:54Speaker 1: a platform, use it to give back. I could cover
- 5:58Speaker 1: a gazillion red carpets, I could make, you know, so
- 6:01Speaker 1: much money in the world. But what I was doing
- 6:05Speaker 1: for other people is what was important to my parents
- 6:09Speaker 1: and to my grandparents. So I always you know, my
- 6:13Speaker 1: journey through life has been led by philanthropy and giving back.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So at Spellman it was you know, I remember Han
- 6:22Speaker 1: just saying, I mean thinking about the women that I
- 6:25Speaker 1: saw right before me as this girl, this teenage girl,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and then a girl that you know, you know, in
- 6:32Speaker 1: my early twenties, sitting there seeing like poets Nikki Giovanni,
- 6:36Speaker 1: Alice Walker, um, Coretta Scott King, civil rights leaders coming
- 6:42Speaker 1: through the gates of Spellman and speaking to us about
- 6:47Speaker 1: our dreams, our goals, and um the fact that we
- 6:50Speaker 1: can accomplish anything that we put our minds to. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: would not trade my education at Spellman for anything in
- 6:58Speaker 1: the world. It just taught us that, you know, first
- 7:02Speaker 1: of all, taught us the value of education and a
- 7:05Speaker 1: real gave us a real connection about our our ancestry
- 7:09Speaker 1: and where we came from, and the fact that it
- 7:12Speaker 1: was up to us to help change the world for
- 7:15Speaker 1: the better for all these little black girls coming after us.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So um that, like I said, that was one of
- 7:21Speaker 1: the reasons that I started my foundation, because it's important
- 7:26Speaker 1: to give back and it's important to give a voice
- 7:28Speaker 1: to those that don't have one. Amazing Lifetime and Bishop
- 7:33Speaker 1: td Jake's um the idea, the concept. Now, how did
- 7:38Speaker 1: you gain control of the franchise that you have there?
- 7:42Speaker 1: One is premiering on Lifetime this Saturday and the following Saturday,
- 7:46Speaker 1: The Seconds premiering back to back weekends with your name
- 7:49Speaker 1: on it. Talk about pulling it all together and then
- 7:51Speaker 1: we're going to talk about each episode and not giving
- 7:54Speaker 1: way too much of the plot. Yes, yes, and so richean, Yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm sure. Being you know, executive producer, you know yourself,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you can identify with a lot of this story. But
- 8:05Speaker 1: when I actually when I'm still at Access Hollywood, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: started thinking about, like, okay, what what what you know?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Do I want to have control over I I want
- 8:16Speaker 1: to have control over different projects. I want to start
- 8:19Speaker 1: acquiring projects that I'm really really interested in. Um. And
- 8:23Speaker 1: so a friend of mine uh named Patrick Henry Bass.
- 8:28Speaker 1: He was at Essence magazine at the time, who's the
- 8:31Speaker 1: books editor. And he called me. You remember Patrick? I
- 8:34Speaker 1: think you do know Patrick? He um. He called me
- 8:37Speaker 1: up and he said, Sean, He said, I just got
- 8:40Speaker 1: the galley for a new book, an upcoming book by
- 8:43Speaker 1: author Victoria Christopher Murray, who was a very prominent author
- 8:46Speaker 1: in the African American community. And she's written like I
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't know, thirty books or so. And he said, the
- 8:52Speaker 1: book is called Lust. She's writing the entire seven Deadly Sins.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Each book is a different Deadly Sin. He said, you
- 9:00Speaker 1: need to call Victoria up tell her that you want
- 9:02Speaker 1: to option this book and the entire series. And so
- 9:05Speaker 1: I called Victoria because I knew her, and I said, hey, Victoria,
- 9:09Speaker 1: you know I'm producing now and I would really love
- 9:12Speaker 1: to try to turn these books into movies. So she
- 9:15Speaker 1: was like, Okay, let's do it. And so when I
- 9:18Speaker 1: first so we did the deal. And when I first
- 9:21Speaker 1: started pitching it around town for Shawan uh, you know,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I pitched it back then to Lifetime. I pitched in
- 9:28Speaker 1: to some other networks. I pitched it to individual producers
- 9:32Speaker 1: and everyone loved it. But the timing wasn't right. This
- 9:36Speaker 1: is the thing about timing, okay, just because there just
- 9:41Speaker 1: because the answer is sometimes we think the answer is no,
- 9:45Speaker 1: but the answer is really not yet. Okay, So that's
- 9:50Speaker 1: really important. So I was pitching and pitching around town
- 9:54Speaker 1: and then uh, you know, several months I think, gosh,
- 9:58Speaker 1: almost a year probably went by, and I pictured to
- 10:01Speaker 1: do T. D. Jake's also, and then Bishop Jakes did
- 10:05Speaker 1: a project at Lifetime that was very very well received,
- 10:09Speaker 1: as all of his projects are, but um, so he
- 10:13Speaker 1: wanted he was acquiring more property he wanted to do,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know, he was looking for more projects to do.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And so his his producing partner, Derrick Williams, called me
- 10:23Speaker 1: up and he said, um he said, hey, Sean, do
- 10:27Speaker 1: you still have you remember that project we talked about
- 10:29Speaker 1: many many moons ago. Do you still have the project,
- 10:33Speaker 1: the Seven Deadly Sins? And I said, yes, I do
- 10:35Speaker 1: still have it. And he said, well, Bishop Jakes would
- 10:39Speaker 1: like to partner with you and do it on Lifetime.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And I'm like, uh, yeah, Okay, we did reformed this partnership,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and there it was we had because of this, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 1: because of this partnership. Now we have you know, these
- 10:55Speaker 1: two movies, possibly seven movies. We we hope, um um,
- 10:59Speaker 1: we're we're calling it. And that's how that's how it
- 11:04Speaker 1: all happened. And so we started working on and started
- 11:07Speaker 1: working on the scripts. Uh, you know, found writers for
- 11:09Speaker 1: the you know, for the scripts, and then uh, COVID happened.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Everything came to a standstill. I'm like, oh no, not again,
- 11:18Speaker 1: not again, and so um and so then you everything
- 11:24Speaker 1: slowed down. But then Lifetime came to us and said, okay,
- 11:27Speaker 1: let's let's get in gear, let's do it, and we
- 11:30Speaker 1: ramped up really really fast, and we shot through COVID
- 11:34Speaker 1: and now here it is like and I think I
- 11:38Speaker 1: optioned the books for Sean in twenty eighteen, I think,
- 11:45Speaker 1: um or twenty seven actually in seventeen, that's when I
- 11:49Speaker 1: talked to Victoria about the books. Seen here we are
- 11:52Speaker 1: in uh, now the movies are happening, and so you know,
- 11:57Speaker 1: sometimes it happens fast. Sometimes it does, but you just
- 12:01Speaker 1: have to keep adding, you keep you have to keep
- 12:03Speaker 1: on persevering until you reach that well. You know. The
- 12:07Speaker 1: thing about it is that, first of all, that's with
- 12:09Speaker 1: COVID interesting the laying everything that's still pretty fast, from
- 12:12Speaker 1: the idea of talking to somebody then pitching it, and
- 12:15Speaker 1: then you have back to back movies on back to
- 12:18Speaker 1: back weekends carrying. It's pretty fast. It's pretty fast. For secondly,
- 12:23Speaker 1: first of all, not only pretty fast, but also well produced.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Where I saw both movies and off air, and I
- 12:28Speaker 1: got to tell tell everybody on the air. I am
- 12:30Speaker 1: a guy. I get a lot of books. I get
- 12:32Speaker 1: a lot of movies to watch. Sometimes I watched three
- 12:34Speaker 1: or four movies a weekend. I've gotten really good at
- 12:37Speaker 1: reading books really fast, and reading and scanning through movies
- 12:41Speaker 1: really bad. Because I see the beginning to apply. I
- 12:43Speaker 1: pretty much know how the middle is gonna feel like
- 12:45Speaker 1: in the end. I could not do that with your movies.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Your movies was so well written, the characters were so
- 12:53Speaker 1: well developed. If you did not, if you missed any
- 12:57Speaker 1: nuance of the character's reason, the rational, or why they're
- 13:00Speaker 1: doing something in the movie, then you missed the movie.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It forced me to watch every minute of those movies.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And that, my friend, is in the Incredible Testament to
- 13:10Speaker 1: being a great writers, great directors, but also great leadership
- 13:13Speaker 1: as an executive producer. Tell us about these movies. Well, okay,
- 13:17Speaker 1: so lust is that insatiable desire to have something that
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know you should not have. Okay, who hasn't felt
- 13:32Speaker 1: that at some time in their life? Everybody can deal
- 13:36Speaker 1: everybody can can identify with lusting after something or someone
- 13:42Speaker 1: at some point in their life. So our our main character,
- 13:47Speaker 1: Tiffany is um you know, she's in a relationship, about
- 13:52Speaker 1: to get married with the man of her dreams, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: then she is confronted with one of the deadly sins,
- 14:02Speaker 1: which is lust, and how that takes her down a
- 14:06Speaker 1: path that she is going to have to deal with
- 14:15Speaker 1: the consequences of lust and how do you deal with it?
- 14:19Speaker 1: And here here's the thing, Rashan, I grew up in
- 14:21Speaker 1: the church, Okay, Um, I have a you know, my
- 14:24Speaker 1: background is in the church. You know, I was baptized
- 14:28Speaker 1: when I was I don't know, I think sick or
- 14:31Speaker 1: took my first communion at six. Raised Catholic, but anyway,
- 14:34Speaker 1: so you know, they teach us about the consequences of sin,
- 14:38Speaker 1: the wages of sin, you know. So you know, I
- 14:44Speaker 1: love these stories because it does have that element of faith,
- 14:52Speaker 1: but it's not beating you over the head with you know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: you should do this or you should do that. So
- 14:57Speaker 1: the journy now the audience goes on journey with Tiffany.
- 15:02Speaker 1: At times they're probably like, no, don't do that, but
- 15:06Speaker 1: you know they want her, they want her to win.
- 15:10Speaker 1: In the end, It's finally here the season of celebration,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:16Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reis magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 15:21Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 15:24Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts

- 15:35Speaker 1: founded brands by giving gifts from Human Nation and Shame Moisture,
- 15:40Speaker 1: or treat them to everyone's favorite active wear from top
- 15:43Speaker 1: brands like Nike, Adidas, and under Armour. And in the
- 15:46Speaker 1: spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating eight million dollars
- 15:50Speaker 1: to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the health and well
- 15:54Speaker 1: being of our communities. No matter how you celebrate, when
- 15:57Speaker 1: you shop at coals, you're right where you've a long
- 16:00Speaker 1: so this season, give with all your heart with great

- 16:41Speaker 1: to get inside each other's mind, walk a mile in
- 16:45Speaker 1: my shoes, Waco, mile in my shoes, Shoes. We've all
- 16:50Speaker 1: felt left out, and for some that feeling lasts more

- 17:00Speaker 1: the Counsel Welcome Out and machines. Well it's it's first
- 17:08Speaker 1: of all, great acting, great casting, you know. Let me
- 17:11Speaker 1: just drop a little in the lust my man off
- 17:15Speaker 1: sexy guys in this movie or carries it takes the
- 17:18Speaker 1: lead in this movie as Tiffany's character. We got Tank
- 17:22Speaker 1: was I don't want to say taking. I was trying
- 17:24Speaker 1: to and saying, take that, because he looks great, his
- 17:27Speaker 1: body looks he's shape. He takes his shirt off fifteen
- 17:29Speaker 1: thousand times, ladies, you know fifteen thousand at one time
- 17:34Speaker 1: he takes his shirt off and going I never looked
- 17:36Speaker 1: like that. Take And I would tell you some take
- 17:38Speaker 1: his acting in here. Take his acting. Take is good.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Takes good and you know what so funny. I was
- 17:45Speaker 1: talking to Take the other day. He hasn't he hasn't
- 17:49Speaker 1: seen the movie a lot of times. You know, we
- 17:50Speaker 1: get to see the movie, but you know before obviously
- 17:52Speaker 1: as a producer, I do. But Tank hadn't seen the movie.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I said, Tank, you're gonna hate you. You all hate
- 18:00Speaker 1: you when you see you. I'm gonna tell you that
- 18:04Speaker 1: shirt I don't know. I don't know, Sean, because when
- 18:06Speaker 1: Take shows up and me's Tiffany for the first time
- 18:10Speaker 1: and I went by, boy, that was a smooth moves.
- 18:13Speaker 1: He laying on her right now, but it was it
- 18:15Speaker 1: was I would be honest with you. We talked about lust.
- 18:18Speaker 1: From talking to Sean Robins she's an executive to do,
- 18:20Speaker 1: so just do Lifetime series uh seven seven deadly sins
- 18:25Speaker 1: in the first episode that's gonna ad in the movie
- 18:28Speaker 1: series is called Lost. IM gonna go and talking envy
- 18:30Speaker 1: in a minute. But I just Cury did an amazing job.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I mean the subtleties. You know. You know, I've been
- 18:37Speaker 1: this industry a long time, so I get to see subtleties.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I could say, who can act, who can't act. I've
- 18:41Speaker 1: been blessed to work with Oscar Winners and Jamie Fox
- 18:45Speaker 1: and Monique as Oscar Winners. So I've been around Hope
- 18:48Speaker 1: for Steve Harvey a lot of town. You know, in
- 18:49Speaker 1: my background, I loved her subtleties. I love her bills.
- 18:52Speaker 1: He has a great career as an actress. We know
- 18:55Speaker 1: what you can do as a single, great career. Tank.
- 18:57Speaker 1: When you came in as the lust as Law, he
- 19:01Speaker 1: was amazing. He was he was subtle, He was trouble.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You knew he was trouble when he walked, when he
- 19:07Speaker 1: opened the front door, when he opened the front door,
- 19:10Speaker 1: you know he was trouble. You knew he was a
- 19:12Speaker 1: he got landed first frame of the movie. You knew
- 19:17Speaker 1: it Like Okay, dude, you're gonna bring this to your house. Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 1: That was Remember he was talking about people talking to
- 19:22Speaker 1: the screen. That was me gonna, okay, dude, you're gonna
- 19:25Speaker 1: bring this to your house. Really really not knowing that
- 19:28Speaker 1: your your wife is uh in mental discussions about her
- 19:32Speaker 1: life and she was the right man and she's doing
- 19:34Speaker 1: the right things in bed and try other things and
- 19:37Speaker 1: all these things which gives lust avenues to make you
- 19:42Speaker 1: do wrong because it can't. It can't penetrate or it
- 19:45Speaker 1: can't it can't crumble h stability. It can't crumble a positivity.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And so that's why I love this, this whole concept
- 19:54Speaker 1: and this whole idea of developing this a movie that
- 19:56Speaker 1: shows you relatable. And I'm talking about this might be
- 19:59Speaker 1: an all like cash but the but the but the
- 20:02Speaker 1: projects are so relatable to anybody. Yes, it's universal, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: it's it's you know, the themes are universal. Um, you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and that's what we wanted to accomplish and that you know,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and as we're having these conversations about diversity and inclusion
- 20:19Speaker 1: in Hollywood today, you know, we you don't have to
- 20:24Speaker 1: cast black folks just when it's a black move like
- 20:28Speaker 1: our themes. We go through the same things the other
- 20:31Speaker 1: people go through, and so that's that's what I love, um,
- 20:36Speaker 1: is this these themes are definitely universal. Anybody can relate
- 20:42Speaker 1: to what Tiffany is going. And that's what I really
- 20:45Speaker 1: loved about it. And that's really what's kind of knowing
- 20:47Speaker 1: what what people in general have pigeonholed African American talent producers, writers, directors,
- 20:52Speaker 1: saying that only black people want to watch your projects,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, and we're seeing that on streaming platforms where
- 20:59Speaker 1: popular projects of going number one and they all black
- 21:01Speaker 1: casts or the cast of a dominant thing. And that's
- 21:03Speaker 1: why I really loved about this particular series of movies
- 21:06Speaker 1: that I saw back to back. Now let's go to Envy.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Envy plays on it, because that's because the first one
- 21:11Speaker 1: is more adult, which I thought was beautiful. Now you're
- 21:14Speaker 1: taking on a young character lead and envy and this
- 21:18Speaker 1: is uh, actually I want to say the name, so
- 21:20Speaker 1: ran correct, that's correct, thank you. Yeah, she's she's fantastic.
- 21:28Speaker 1: She is really great. And when I first saw her
- 21:31Speaker 1: her real, her audition real, um, I was like, gosh,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you know, she's really she really pops on screen she's
- 21:38Speaker 1: very fantastic. She was she was on just came off Power.
- 21:42Speaker 1: UM and I were really lucky, uh to to have
- 21:47Speaker 1: found her. Um or we're looked really lucky that she
- 21:51Speaker 1: was available for this project because she just really brings
- 21:55Speaker 1: it home. Um and it's uh, she she's she's really
- 22:00Speaker 1: a dynamic well, you know the thing. And I got
- 22:02Speaker 1: to could see a rough cut of that, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 1: you know, I got to see it, so I still
- 22:07Speaker 1: but it was a beautiful presentation of what you guys
- 22:09Speaker 1: are gonna put on the main screen. Some critics were missing,
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. But everything that was in place,
- 22:14Speaker 1: and the thing about it when I really got to
- 22:17Speaker 1: see her act, you know, I saw On the Empire
- 22:19Speaker 1: and all that stuff, so familiar with her singing and
- 22:21Speaker 1: acting talents. But this was a ranging project, you know.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And then you brought in Candice was Candid Burros, who
- 22:27Speaker 1: I loved from Real Housewives, and then DC Young Fly
- 22:31Speaker 1: was also here playing a little Meani. He plays a
- 22:33Speaker 1: little MENI y'all, he's not telling jokes in here, but
- 22:35Speaker 1: he's in a little Meani little hand meaning. And then
- 22:38Speaker 1: of course my boy Clifton Pole, he's in both movies.
- 22:41Speaker 1: He's a both boy. He can double checks young man,
- 22:44Speaker 1: Old Man, Old Man. Do you remember when Clifton Powell
- 22:49Speaker 1: was on Rock Yes, yes, yes, Clift of all, our
- 22:55Speaker 1: relationship goes all the way back to two thousand, So
- 22:57Speaker 1: I met you in Clifton Prober at the same time
- 23:00Speaker 1: because that's when we did the Steve Hard Morning Show.
- 23:01Speaker 1: That's when you're not really connecting in two thousands. So
- 23:04Speaker 1: clip Pile, I made him used to come into the
- 23:06Speaker 1: morning show. We should meet, and I was to always
- 23:08Speaker 1: admire his professionalism, his being he was doing, always doing
- 23:12Speaker 1: major roles and always becoming the star we always felt
- 23:15Speaker 1: he could be. And it's just to see him and
- 23:18Speaker 1: because he plays an older character and lust and he
- 23:21Speaker 1: plays a person more his age and envy, and it's
- 23:24Speaker 1: really an important role too, because that's the that's the
- 23:28Speaker 1: the minister side of the movie. That that here's always
- 23:31Speaker 1: a moment in each movie that you're in the church
- 23:34Speaker 1: and you get to hear a message, but it's not
- 23:36Speaker 1: a message, just beating you over the head. That's what
- 23:38Speaker 1: I loved about this show. I know exactly what you're
- 23:40Speaker 1: trying to do and you're accomplishing it, but you're not
- 23:43Speaker 1: making me feel like I gotta go pick up the
- 23:45Speaker 1: Bible to understand that this is a relatable night right.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And I just love Clifton Pile so much. He brings
- 23:53Speaker 1: a thousand percent uh to work every single day, and
- 23:58Speaker 1: I'm so glad that he is part of the project.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You know, Candy Burris, who is she is like building
- 24:04Speaker 1: her her acting resume and you know, n for me, um,
- 24:09Speaker 1: I as we were looking over the different actors and
- 24:12Speaker 1: actresses for lust and envy, you know, as an executive producer,
- 24:16Speaker 1: it's so wonderful for me to be able to be
- 24:20Speaker 1: part of the decision making process that can give uh,
- 24:23Speaker 1: these actors these opportunities, um, you know and help them
- 24:28Speaker 1: be even reach their next goal. So I that's what
- 24:31Speaker 1: I that's one of the things I really enjoy about
- 24:34Speaker 1: being a decision maker, being an executive producer because for me,
- 24:39Speaker 1: it's about providing opportunities to people who uh you know
- 24:44Speaker 1: who listen. Hollywood is still a very tough place, a
- 24:47Speaker 1: very very tough place for you know, people of color,
- 24:51Speaker 1: and to be able to help them along in their
- 24:54Speaker 1: journey is so satisfying for me. You know, I've been there,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I've been on a side of casting people. When I
- 24:59Speaker 1: look in my career, I look at the Gabriel Unions,
- 25:02Speaker 1: the Kim Witling's cannons. You know, so many actors I
- 25:06Speaker 1: see there acting the day when they were care Robinson,
- 25:10Speaker 1: that's what you're talking about. You know, you're in the
- 25:12Speaker 1: room and you are in a position to That's what
- 25:14Speaker 1: I love. What will Packers doing? You know, he's a
- 25:17Speaker 1: he's a game changer and Sean you you're becoming a
- 25:20Speaker 1: game changer. And you know the power really is behind
- 25:23Speaker 1: that camera, you know, in the writer's room and then
- 25:25Speaker 1: the directors, you know, talking to the executives who come
- 25:28Speaker 1: down and really only speak to you unless the actor
- 25:30Speaker 1: or actress is powerful they want to speak to them.
- 25:32Speaker 1: They only speak to the executive producers, the showrunners. They
- 25:36Speaker 1: may talk to the writers if it's in the writer
- 25:37Speaker 1: room format. But you get the primary notes, Bishop tv J.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Get the primary notes and hearing they come from me.
- 25:44Speaker 1: What did you realize about taking on the project like this?
- 25:47Speaker 1: And I know it put a smile on your face
- 25:50Speaker 1: when it when it, when it, you know you have
- 25:51Speaker 1: two stages of the smile. First of all, she said
- 25:54Speaker 1: yes to your option. In then Bishop TJ. Called you
- 25:58Speaker 1: said you want to be in the project. Then you
- 26:00Speaker 1: finally casting it and now it's about the air and
- 26:02Speaker 1: you're being interviewed national. I'm just one of many platforms
- 26:06Speaker 1: and an interviewing you to promote this. Where are you
- 26:08Speaker 1: ready emotionally with this project? Well, you know, here's the thing, Um,
- 26:13Speaker 1: when when TV Jake's when when you know TV Jake's
- 26:17Speaker 1: and and Derrick Williams called me and said, hey, do
- 26:20Speaker 1: you have this project? Um? You know that was definitely
- 26:25Speaker 1: a you know, a game changer for me because I
- 26:28Speaker 1: had this project that was that I had shopped around
- 26:32Speaker 1: town and that I owned, and then I was shopping
- 26:34Speaker 1: around town and I had, UM, you know, it could
- 26:38Speaker 1: have been a different partner that I went with, but
- 26:41Speaker 1: I felt that, you know, partnering with with with you know,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Bishop Jake's what an extraordinary producer he is. And not
- 26:51Speaker 1: only that, um, but his brand is this right in
- 26:55Speaker 1: line with this this project. And so you know, for me,
- 27:03Speaker 1: one of the lessons was, you know, you want to
- 27:05Speaker 1: sometimes you just want to rush things and you want
- 27:07Speaker 1: to just go with, you know, whatever offer is presented
- 27:10Speaker 1: to you at first, but you really have to think
- 27:13Speaker 1: about who you're going to be in business with and
- 27:18Speaker 1: how you guys are gonna gel and does this partnership
- 27:22Speaker 1: work for the good of the project. And I felt
- 27:24Speaker 1: that this partnership definitely was perfect for this project. So um,
- 27:30Speaker 1: that was you know when you talk about putting a
- 27:32Speaker 1: smile on my face. You know, having this partnership with
- 27:35Speaker 1: him is extraordinary for me. And as I look at
- 27:40Speaker 1: other projects that I'm doing and being careful about who
- 27:44Speaker 1: I choose as a partner, it's it's a I think
- 27:47Speaker 1: it's a lesson for for all of us. Don't rush it.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Be more intentional with your decisions. Well you know, Um,
- 27:58Speaker 1: you've always been intentional. I know when we this project.
- 28:01Speaker 1: The reason I just really enjoyed talking about it because
- 28:03Speaker 1: I know there's always a journey and just to see
- 28:05Speaker 1: the transformation in you, you know when I said this
- 28:08Speaker 1: is a good thing. You know. You know Lincoln, I
- 28:10Speaker 1: just see, uh follow your motivation and follow your stories.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I follow you because you really personalize your life. You
- 28:16Speaker 1: put your life out there and to see this is
- 28:19Speaker 1: being a part of that story that you're now ready
- 28:21Speaker 1: to tell. I think it's amazing and I want to
- 28:23Speaker 1: just say congratulations to you. Two projects. You know I
- 28:26Speaker 1: want to talk about a couple of I'll bring you back.
- 28:27Speaker 1: On the show. We talk about naty day fiance and
- 28:31Speaker 1: like Jugger not but that you know it's uh, do
- 28:35Speaker 1: you know ninety day fiance is seen in a hundred
- 28:38Speaker 1: and sixty eight countries and territories. That's I love you
- 28:43Speaker 1: for a minute. I I just said, do you know
- 28:46Speaker 1: that fiance is seen in a hundred and sixty eight
- 28:50Speaker 1: countries and territories? Well, you know that it was big
- 28:54Speaker 1: in my house, and big my house, big in my office,
- 28:57Speaker 1: is big everywhere. Because I can't understand how people do it.
- 29:00Speaker 1: And you sit up there interviewing these people like the
- 29:02Speaker 1: normal people though that would beginning me. You mean, like
- 29:05Speaker 1: you at these people like you're talking to Tom Hanks
- 29:08Speaker 1: or somebody normal or something celebrity, and they'd be sitting
- 29:11Speaker 1: up there like they got it going on. How do
- 29:13Speaker 1: you sustain such credibility interviewing these people because you're wonderful,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you got your right makeup right? These people crazy, they're crazy. Listen,
- 29:24Speaker 1: here's here's the flip side of that. The show tells you.
- 29:29Speaker 1: How about the when we talk about universal things, the
- 29:33Speaker 1: universal theme of wanting to be loved everyone can identify
- 29:39Speaker 1: with that, and that is why the show is so
- 29:43Speaker 1: popular because everybody can identify with how far do I
- 29:48Speaker 1: go to find love? So yes, so I as the
- 29:56Speaker 1: host of the show, I have that empathy for everybody
- 30:01Speaker 1: that I talked to. Well, you know, first of all,
- 30:04Speaker 1: it's first of all, you're fantastic and it was just
- 30:07Speaker 1: just what I love about your life. Right now, you
- 30:08Speaker 1: still with that allows you to stay in front of
- 30:10Speaker 1: the camera, and then you have these upcoming projects on
- 30:13Speaker 1: Lifetime and it's gonna be more. I'm just gonna let
- 30:15Speaker 1: you know, Uh, Lifetime has found something with this series
- 30:19Speaker 1: is right in line. Is uh female centric. The storylines
- 30:24Speaker 1: were fantastic. The more breakout stars are being developed under
- 30:27Speaker 1: your umbrella, you know, I see you. I'm just gonna
- 30:30Speaker 1: throw this little title on ya. I see you about
- 30:32Speaker 1: to do what Will Packer did several years ago. You're
- 30:35Speaker 1: gonna You're gonna start doing it as well. That's what
- 30:37Speaker 1: eiver Don is doing, that's so many other people Shonda
- 30:40Speaker 1: Rhimes is doing right now, You're going to put that
- 30:43Speaker 1: hand on and run with it. Because what I saw
- 30:46Speaker 1: and watching these two series was quality work. Stories. I
- 30:49Speaker 1: want to share stories. I want to tell family stories,
- 30:52Speaker 1: stories that can change people's lives. That's key, right there,
- 30:56Speaker 1: change people's lives and make their lives better. Fan congratulations
- 31:00Speaker 1: Sean Robinson, thank you, thank you so much. I really
- 31:04Speaker 1: appreciate it. And uh, you know, from from your mouth
- 31:07Speaker 1: to God's ears, Um, I hope that. Uh it's wonder
- 31:11Speaker 1: New chapters are scary, Rashaan, as you know, but they
- 31:16Speaker 1: can be so fulfilling. Um when you really like sit down,
- 31:21Speaker 1: think about what it is you have to offer. A
- 31:24Speaker 1: lot of times we get pigeonholed. We think that, you know,
- 31:26Speaker 1: I've been doing this for a long time. I can't
- 31:28Speaker 1: do anything else. But then when you start to like
- 31:30Speaker 1: look at you know, you know, step out on faith,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but also be prepared, educate yourself, gain more knowledge about
- 31:38Speaker 1: a particular area, talk to people who are in those fields.
- 31:42Speaker 1: You know, there are so many more opportunities that you
- 31:45Speaker 1: can take advantage of. Well. I know that for a
- 31:47Speaker 1: fact that when I stepped away from manager Steve Harvey,
- 31:51Speaker 1: it was it was a lot uncertainty. And you know,
- 31:53Speaker 1: because a lot of people only know you from what
- 31:55Speaker 1: you did previously, A lot of people don't know you
- 31:57Speaker 1: from what you did on access Hollywood, and so that
- 32:00Speaker 1: compete and hold you and the relationships you have really
- 32:03Speaker 1: don't allow you to move forward. But you're not only
- 32:06Speaker 1: moving forward, you're running. You're running. In fact, you're driving
- 32:09Speaker 1: forward in a very fancy car. It's called like you.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I appreciate you for coming on and like I'm sure
- 32:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna see he's post out there. Of course I'm
- 32:18Speaker 1: putting my news letter, putting on social media. I'm gonna
- 32:21Speaker 1: tell everybody to watch it. More importantly, everybody's gonna watch
- 32:24Speaker 1: my podcast as was here my podcast, And thank you
- 32:27Speaker 1: for coming on the show again. Okay, can I ask
- 32:29Speaker 1: you one favor? Um? Can you make me a sweeper
- 32:34Speaker 1: tato pie? Yes? I can. In fact, you know some
- 32:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna text your picture and I'm gonna make you one.
- 32:40Speaker 1: And in fact, I'm gonna be ou in l A
- 32:41Speaker 1: in like three weeks and we're gonna connect. Okay seriously,
- 32:44Speaker 1: and I got an office down here in Atlanta. You
- 32:47Speaker 1: just open up a cannon worms. I am going to
- 32:49Speaker 1: make you a sweeper tat. In fact, when I make it, Sean,
- 32:52Speaker 1: you'll be standing right next to me. Okay, perfect deal,
- 32:57Speaker 1: deal a certain and I gotta have one of those.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I want to show you some stuff because because you
- 33:05Speaker 1: shot the movies down here in Atlanta, right did shoot
- 33:07Speaker 1: them in the Okay, when you come back down here
- 33:09Speaker 1: for the next series and you're coming back down here,
- 33:11Speaker 1: I'm just gonna let you know you the movies are
- 33:13Speaker 1: that good. Lust and envy are that good. When you
- 33:16Speaker 1: come back down there, we will connect. I gonna bring
- 33:18Speaker 1: you by the office. We're gonna eat, talk and do
- 33:20Speaker 1: some private conversations about the next put it on podcast
