- 3:54Speaker 1: Virgins and Property Virgins. Please workome the Money Making Conversations.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Having saw hard in all time since New York City,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Egypt to all Sean, come on, you know I, you
- 4:07Speaker 1: know when you were doing mid days up there in
- 4:09Speaker 1: w BLS and New York City. You just always we
- 4:13Speaker 1: just we just talk all the time off air about
- 4:16Speaker 1: how to just you know, create that brain and create engagement,
- 4:20Speaker 1: keep motivating people to win and to see what you've
- 4:23Speaker 1: done since that is amazing. Just you stay in the loop.
- 4:27Speaker 1: You stay in loop. How do you stand in the shan?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Do you know what? I'm gonna just take you back
- 4:32Speaker 1: a minute, because you know, God does amazing things that
- 4:36Speaker 1: and we can't forget to really take inventory of where
- 4:40Speaker 1: we started. And you're right. I remember the conversations we
- 4:43Speaker 1: used to have when I hosted mid Days at w
- 4:46Speaker 1: BLS and New York and I would come by your
- 4:48Speaker 1: office because your office across from mind, and I would
- 4:52Speaker 1: say to you, I'd say, with Sean, I need some invite,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I need to know what to do next, because sometimes
- 5:00Speaker 1: we we have to have those men tools, those voices
- 5:04Speaker 1: of reason, that little those of wisdom that we can
- 5:07Speaker 1: consult with from time to time because we don't have
- 5:10Speaker 1: all the answers. Right. I knew, I knew at that
- 5:13Speaker 1: time I was following my passion and I had to
- 5:16Speaker 1: And a lot of people have true careers. One for
- 5:19Speaker 1: me was radio because radio was you know, it was
- 5:22Speaker 1: paying the bill, it was the job with benefits. It
- 5:25Speaker 1: was the safety net for me. But I also had
- 5:30Speaker 1: a passion for real estate. And anybody that has any
- 5:33Speaker 1: bit of money will tell you that real estate is
- 5:36Speaker 1: the foundation of wealth. They got their hands in it
- 5:39Speaker 1: in some some fashion. Right. So I was while I
- 5:43Speaker 1: was on the radio there in New York, I was
- 5:46Speaker 1: also a realtor. Uh. And I was selling houses for
- 5:49Speaker 1: some top celebrities and executives. Yeah. And I remember I
- 5:54Speaker 1: tried to sell you one in New Jersey. Yes, I
- 5:59Speaker 1: did it, but but you know, you know, and and
- 6:02Speaker 1: then you know, God really just I remember one day
- 6:05Speaker 1: I was on the radio, came on after Steve, and
- 6:09Speaker 1: I got a phone call in the studio and they said, hey,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you know, are we hearing you talking about how you
- 6:14Speaker 1: sell real estate too? Is that really your other career?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Each of I said, yeah, Well who's this? Uh? It
- 6:19Speaker 1: was a casting director who was captain television shows for
- 6:23Speaker 1: h G t V. And I hung up on him
- 6:26Speaker 1: because I thought it was a crank call. My s
- 6:29Speaker 1: was laughing, I Forgi'll set that up. That's ridiculous. Stop
- 6:32Speaker 1: playing games with me in my heart? Right, So I
- 6:35Speaker 1: hung up on them. But but thankfully opportunities does knock,
- 6:39Speaker 1: or in this case, ring more than once, because he
- 6:42Speaker 1: called back at the front desk, and and that was
- 6:45Speaker 1: on a Thursday. On Friday, I was in to Rantum
- 6:49Speaker 1: interviewing with the executives from production company or Monday, they
- 6:53Speaker 1: offered me my first h G t V show and
- 6:56Speaker 1: I filmed two hundred and fifty six episodes of that
- 6:58Speaker 1: first one. So you know, it's kind of like when
- 7:01Speaker 1: your passion, purpose and God. But the beauty of this
- 7:06Speaker 1: conversation is that Um, but it's preparation because you know people,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, people want to get on these TV shows.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You know, I'm always pitching TV shows and finding talent
- 7:17Speaker 1: with credibility because see, let me just say it correctly,
- 7:20Speaker 1: you're not just a pretty face on TV. You know
- 7:23Speaker 1: your business, you know your passion and clear understanding of
- 7:26Speaker 1: how to be successful in this lane. And a lot
- 7:29Speaker 1: of people don't know that. A lot of people don't
- 7:31Speaker 1: know that that you were not just booked because of
- 7:34Speaker 1: the fact that you're each of Gerard. You're a book
- 7:36Speaker 1: because guess what, you know how to sell houses. You know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: you have a clear understand you have a license to
- 7:41Speaker 1: sell houses and so so that's important for people understand.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So when I created this show, I wanted to created
- 7:47Speaker 1: this show so people like you can come on and
- 7:49Speaker 1: tell people, Okay, this is not by luck. This is
- 7:52Speaker 1: something I work hard at what I do, and I
- 7:54Speaker 1: want to I want to. I want you to explain
- 7:56Speaker 1: to people that whole system of always prepared and yourself
- 8:00Speaker 1: for success, because that's what this is all about. Because
- 8:03Speaker 1: even when we were sitting down talking, you never were
- 8:05Speaker 1: satisfied with where you were at Egypt. You was always
- 8:09Speaker 1: moving forward. You was always not afraid of the next opportunity.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Why is that? Well, I think part of it is
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm a scorpio, but piss ez girls were attracted to
- 8:21Speaker 1: each other, all right there it is. I knew I
- 8:24Speaker 1: liked you. Um so you know, Rashwan, I grew up
- 8:29Speaker 1: in North Philadelphia. Um my mom, you know, single mom.
- 8:33Speaker 1: My My father, my biological father that is, um you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: he was strung out on drugs and it wasn't a
- 8:40Speaker 1: part of our life. And I remember sitting in my
- 8:43Speaker 1: grandparents some porch made a rest in peace, but I
- 8:46Speaker 1: was sitting there at some port in the window looking outside,
- 8:49Speaker 1: day dreaming, and I was creating way back when, as
- 8:52Speaker 1: a little girl, what I wanted my life to be,
- 8:55Speaker 1: because at that time it just wasn't. And you know,
- 8:59Speaker 1: if I had continue used a route in the neighborhood
- 9:01Speaker 1: where I was um and and the cycle I should say,
- 9:05Speaker 1: you know, of getting pregnant early, which is what everybody
- 9:08Speaker 1: around me in my neighborhood was doing. My mom had
- 9:10Speaker 1: me when she was a teenager. If I continued that cycle,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I would be right there doing the same thing generation
- 9:16Speaker 1: after generation. So I knew even back then, at seven
- 9:20Speaker 1: and eight years old, that I had to dream big,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and I started to visualize. Now this is before Oprah
- 9:28Speaker 1: came on television talking about vision boards and dream boards.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I used to cut out pictures of right On magazine
- 9:35Speaker 1: and Black Beast magazine. Now, mind you, Prince was my
- 9:38Speaker 1: husband in my head. You know so. But but you
- 9:42Speaker 1: know that the power of visualization, that is you essentially
- 9:48Speaker 1: claiming to the universe that this is what I'm going
- 9:51Speaker 1: to manifest for my life. And so it started way
- 9:54Speaker 1: back when when you ask why are you never satisfied?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Because I knew that I wasn't at my end yet.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I knew that I had not fulfilled the dream I
- 10:02Speaker 1: have for myself or that God placed in my heart.
- 10:05Speaker 1: So I was always forecasting to what's next. When I
- 10:09Speaker 1: was right in the middle of it. Some people used
- 10:11Speaker 1: to tell me, stop, it's not the roses girl, the roads.
- 10:14Speaker 1: You're not enjoying the roses. And I was like, because
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm playing the next field the roses, I'm gonna tell
- 10:19Speaker 1: you if it's funny you say that because you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: as a kid, you know it's always looking sports cars,
- 10:24Speaker 1: poor shoes, and all these type of cars. Just just
- 10:26Speaker 1: look at them. These are the cars I wanted. Even now,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'll drive through neighborhood wealthy neighborhoods, and my wife go,
- 10:33Speaker 1: why are you driving through this? Because they've got something
- 10:35Speaker 1: I don't have. See, you know, if I'm happy where
- 10:39Speaker 1: I'm at, and that that that goes back to if
- 10:41Speaker 1: you're happy to being in the hood, you're gonna stay
- 10:43Speaker 1: in the hood. If you're happy the house you're in,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you're gonna stand that home. If you're happy with the
- 10:47Speaker 1: car you're driving, you're gonna stand. That's that old smell
- 10:50Speaker 1: the roses talk, which I don't buy into. I buy
- 10:53Speaker 1: into the fact that there are people out there that
- 10:56Speaker 1: got something that I don't have. My job is to
- 10:58Speaker 1: figure out how to get that. That's the purpose of
- 11:01Speaker 1: money making conversation is to give people advice and information
- 11:05Speaker 1: on how they can secure dreams that they own that
- 11:08Speaker 1: they feel they can't reach. And when I hear you talk, now,
- 11:11Speaker 1: hear you talking about making these transitions, you're telling me,
- 11:14Speaker 1: for look what san I came from nothing. I was
- 11:17Speaker 1: I was visualizing things naturally now as a big now,
- 11:20Speaker 1: as a whole market out there, a whole campaign. This
- 11:22Speaker 1: is what you're doing. People selling books on stuff that
- 11:25Speaker 1: you did naturally. And that's the key success to you
- 11:28Speaker 1: came naturally, and that's very important for people to understand that,
- 11:32Speaker 1: very important it did. I think it started with a mentality, right,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and and also you have to follow that up with
- 11:39Speaker 1: a plan. And these are the keys. You study successful
- 11:42Speaker 1: people and figure out what it is that they're doing
- 11:45Speaker 1: habitually that allows them to lead to success residually. Right
- 11:52Speaker 1: for me, it was it was I'm sorry. Now they're
- 11:56Speaker 1: just they're just letting the thirty seconds we're gonna have
- 11:58Speaker 1: to come back when continue this interview. I'm on the
- 12:00Speaker 1: phone with Egypt Sharad. You know she used the executive
- 12:03Speaker 1: producer of h G TVs, Flipping Vergins and Property Virgins.
- 12:06Speaker 1: When we come back, we're gonna talk about these shows
- 12:09Speaker 1: because you know what people have called me, Egypt talking
- 12:11Speaker 1: about Rashan. Won't you invest in this house so we
- 12:13Speaker 1: can make some quick money? And I've said no, Well,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I got the expert on the lives. Don't go nowhere, Egypt,
- 12:19Speaker 1: Sharrad Flipping Versions and Property Virgins. We'll be right back
- 12:27Speaker 1: from McDonald. The money making Conversations. Don't touch that down.

- 13:35Speaker 1: You got to get out of your own city and
- 13:37Speaker 1: leave in order to group. Because a fish don't get
- 13:40Speaker 1: bigger as long as it's inside of that bo get
- 13:43Speaker 1: bigger when you put it in a poet, Ladies and gentlemen,
- 13:46Speaker 1: please blocking the phone, the one and only Charlie Wilson.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Many people have really been trying to get me to
- 13:52Speaker 1: do a gospel record for so many years, and I've
- 13:54Speaker 1: been promising God that I would I would shout him
- 13:57Speaker 1: out to do something. You know, my baby, come on, man,
- 14:03Speaker 1: but a little Jesus in the song Come on ms
- 14:06Speaker 1: Patty little Bell and you know what I'm gonna be

- 14:18Speaker 1: ten am the noon Bisy love of Naty, money making conversations. Hi,
- 14:23Speaker 1: this ra Sean McDonald. I'm back. Thank you on the phone.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I got Egypt Sharad real Estate's Okay, first of all,
- 14:31Speaker 1: Egypt Sharad, she's a host of and executive news of
- 14:34Speaker 1: h G t VS Flipping Versions and Pop Property Virgins.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Let me just let you give your a little insight
- 14:39Speaker 1: on what the show Flipping Virgins is. Property expert and host,
- 14:43Speaker 1: Egypt Sharad gets down and dirty with first times who
- 14:46Speaker 1: risk it all and unpredicted in the underpredicable world of
- 14:49Speaker 1: flipping houses with real people, real steaks and high pressure. Okay,
- 14:54Speaker 1: now this is guy called me every year, Egypt said, Richard,
- 14:59Speaker 1: and I got some high was this man? He? And
- 15:01Speaker 1: he lives in Los Angeles. Let's go flip. Let's go
- 15:04Speaker 1: flip him. I know you got some money. Let's go flip.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Guess where Rashawn sits on the sidelines and goals I passed,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I passed. Why do you pass? Because I don't know.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I don't know why. First of all, he's just a guy.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I know, we're just a guy. No, you know. And
- 15:20Speaker 1: he's asking for my money. No no, no, no, no,
- 15:24Speaker 1: no no no already, don't you go to agent. Don't
- 15:27Speaker 1: you go there? First of all, he got the hook up,
- 15:30Speaker 1: but I got the money or get that, dave me go,
- 15:36Speaker 1: damn me go. And so but but it always sounds good,
- 15:40Speaker 1: it sounds good. But then I hit this guy on
- 15:42Speaker 1: the radio. Well, I'm in Atlanta, always talking about I
- 15:45Speaker 1: got this hit showing and I can tell you how
- 15:47Speaker 1: to flip home for to make you a lot of money.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Right now, I go, okay, that sounds good too. I
- 15:51Speaker 1: should be flipping home. So so when I booked you,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I said, okay, I got the real estate expert. She
- 15:57Speaker 1: got two shows on TV. Come on this show and
- 16:00Speaker 1: tell me what. Am I being stupid because I'm too conservative?
- 16:03Speaker 1: Or am I talking to the wrong people? Tell me Egypt,
- 16:06Speaker 1: help me out with the first show. Give us your
- 16:08Speaker 1: take of flipping virgins. All right, So, so here a
- 16:13Speaker 1: lot of people, there's a lot of people were trying
- 16:15Speaker 1: to feel the way you do. You're a little skittish
- 16:17Speaker 1: about it, but for good reason. I'm not gonna sit
- 16:19Speaker 1: here and glorify house flipping or real estate because just
- 16:23Speaker 1: as much money as you can earn, you can lose
- 16:25Speaker 1: if you don't know what you're doing. And that's the
- 16:28Speaker 1: important thing is to study the craft first, and that's
- 16:31Speaker 1: in everything in life and a business. So you want
- 16:33Speaker 1: to understand the formula, the rhyman reason. You can't just
- 16:37Speaker 1: walk up and say, oh, do the mugly houses, I'm
- 16:39Speaker 1: gonna flip them. Number one, does the math make work? What?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Excuse me? Does the math makes sense? Will this house
- 16:47Speaker 1: sell for more than what what it's worth right now
- 16:50Speaker 1: after you flip it. If the answers no, then it's
- 16:52Speaker 1: not a good flip. I don't care how ugly or
- 16:54Speaker 1: how cute it is. You can't get emotionally attached to
- 16:57Speaker 1: the property. You gotta build a team. To where people
- 17:00Speaker 1: lose a lot of money is with contractors when it
- 17:03Speaker 1: comes to houses, because if you don't have a good team,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you're in trouble before you start. So you want to
- 17:10Speaker 1: build a network of Tyler's, build a network of flooring stalls,
- 17:13Speaker 1: build a network of h V a c technicians, everything
- 17:17Speaker 1: that goes into a house. You want to have more
- 17:19Speaker 1: than one person you can call, because if you talk
- 17:21Speaker 1: to anybody who's ever renovated a house to flip the house,
- 17:24Speaker 1: they'll tell you that you may fall in love with
- 17:26Speaker 1: one contractor today and they'll be the same one who
- 17:28Speaker 1: try to free you over tomorrow. So you need to
- 17:30Speaker 1: pick up the phone and be able to call your second, third,
- 17:33Speaker 1: fourth string in line now. Because see that's maybe the
- 17:39Speaker 1: problem with it, me and him, because he never talks
- 17:42Speaker 1: about a team. He just talks about rashaw. I know
- 17:45Speaker 1: these houses we can buy and flip them because see,
- 17:48Speaker 1: because you know me, my my, because you know I
- 17:51Speaker 1: bought used homes, I bought new homes. I build homes
- 17:54Speaker 1: from scratch. Okay. You know when you go into a
- 17:57Speaker 1: home just because it looks good on the outside, is
- 17:59Speaker 1: that old in there? Is it is? I remember I
- 18:02Speaker 1: bought my first home that I bought in Houston, Texas.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Somebody has stolen the air condition and unit. You know
- 18:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You know, so I bought somebody stripped
- 18:13Speaker 1: on the copper out of it. You know what I'm saying.
- 18:15Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying so so so right there,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I go, Okay, I'm i'm, I'm. I signed all the
- 18:19Speaker 1: paperwork moving the house. There's no there's no accrenditioning unit.
- 18:23Speaker 1: So I called my real estate AGGO. Can't do nothing
- 18:26Speaker 1: about that. Brother, You signed all your papers. So I
- 18:29Speaker 1: had to spend like, you know, several thousands of dollars
- 18:32Speaker 1: to put a unit on my house. So I know
- 18:35Speaker 1: what you're talking. So those are the factors that throw
- 18:38Speaker 1: fear into me. So so, but you have a show
- 18:40Speaker 1: where you're walking, you know, against virgins into this territory.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm never doing it, but who think they know what
- 18:47Speaker 1: they're talking about? Right, Let's be clear, Let's be clear.
- 18:50Speaker 1: These are flipping versions. So your children are safe, Okay, absolutely,
- 18:57Speaker 1: absolutely yes, because it's so many people now, I mean,
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know, I'm not resenting the wheel here. Everybody flip.
- 19:05Speaker 1: There's any flipping shows on two D, and they just
- 19:07Speaker 1: think it's so easy because they see someone successfully do
- 19:10Speaker 1: it in our episode. But what I'm teaching people is
- 19:14Speaker 1: the good, the bad, and the ugly of flipping houses,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and how to protect your life's investment and sometimes you
- 19:20Speaker 1: your kids college education, you don't get ripped off, and
- 19:23Speaker 1: what to look out for. And a big one is
- 19:26Speaker 1: not only like you said, the mold and the h
- 19:28Speaker 1: K A C. It's the foundation of a house. If
- 19:31Speaker 1: the foundations compromise, those are the things you can't see
- 19:34Speaker 1: when you just walk in. But I teach you what
- 19:37Speaker 1: to look for and then how to make sure the deal. Yeah, termites,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but sometimes if the deal looks too good to be true,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and often is the things you learned on my show.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And we're gonna be back in this frainage. Let me
- 19:51Speaker 1: ask you this because this is, like I said, you
- 19:53Speaker 1: are needed for somebody like me. You know, I'm I'm
- 19:56Speaker 1: a guy who likes to make money, but don't like
- 19:59Speaker 1: the invest in something I'm not as sure will be
- 20:02Speaker 1: a winner. So so you have that show that's the
- 20:06Speaker 1: that's the Flipping Virgins, and then you have Property Virgins.
- 20:09Speaker 1: What is the difference between the two shows. Well, Property
- 20:13Speaker 1: Virgins ran for jeez, what sixteen seasons, and that was
- 20:17Speaker 1: me me working in my realtor suit, teaching first time
- 20:22Speaker 1: homebuyers how confirmed it by the right first home for them.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Flipping Virgins is me and my investors to teaching the
- 20:31Speaker 1: first time investors how to find profitable properties and flip
- 20:35Speaker 1: them for profits. Now you sound amazing to me right now, Egypt, Okay,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm just gonna let you know that's a lot of
- 20:43Speaker 1: significant information. Do you do you do motivational speaking? Do
- 20:46Speaker 1: you go out and do seminars? What do you do
- 20:49Speaker 1: with all that information? Because you have two dynamic shows? Well, Rochelle,
- 20:53Speaker 1: you know, coming from all those years in radio, you
- 20:55Speaker 1: can't shut me up that quick. So yes, I go
- 20:59Speaker 1: out and I do motivational speaking everywhere. I teach seminars
- 21:03Speaker 1: to make Honestly, I make seven figures a year just speaking.
- 21:07Speaker 1: There you go, girl, there you go. See. I gotta
- 21:10Speaker 1: bring out to people, let people know who Egypt is.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Eachyp is not gonna be a person that doesn't take
- 21:15Speaker 1: advantage of all the talents that God gave her. You know,
- 21:18Speaker 1: she has the ability to talk, she has the ability
- 21:20Speaker 1: to communicate. And then when you walk in these shows,
- 21:23Speaker 1: these shows are just giving you a brand um authenticity.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I guess you'll say, because when you talk, you have
- 21:29Speaker 1: a resume. Correct I do with Shawan? Can I just
- 21:34Speaker 1: say something in the middle of Alma's talking about me,
- 21:37Speaker 1: how proud I am of you? How you continue to
- 21:41Speaker 1: reinvent yourse? Don't think you people like you. You are
- 21:45Speaker 1: such an inspiration to me. It reminds me never to
- 21:48Speaker 1: rest on my laurels that just when I think I'm
- 21:50Speaker 1: getting there, time to flip the script, turn the page
- 21:53Speaker 1: to a new chapter and challenge myself to do something new.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Like when I said, I don't want to just be
- 21:58Speaker 1: a face in the box anymore as in the host,
- 22:01Speaker 1: I want to be the executive producer. Thank you, which
- 22:04Speaker 1: is how I went from hosting property versions to executive
- 22:08Speaker 1: producing my new show, which is in its third season.
- 22:11Speaker 1: You know, so thank you, thank you because I remember
- 22:14Speaker 1: the first of all, I appreciate you saying that. You know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I appreciate you saying that because I'm like you. People
- 22:21Speaker 1: tell me, uh, won't you stop a smell of roses?
- 22:24Speaker 1: And you know this is this is my next journey
- 22:26Speaker 1: in my life, you know, to be able to communicate
- 22:29Speaker 1: with because I consider your friend and when I talk
- 22:31Speaker 1: to you. This is all about connecting dots, connecting dots
- 22:36Speaker 1: by relationships, but doing it in a platform that hopefully
- 22:40Speaker 1: millions of people will hear, you know, whether it's in
- 22:42Speaker 1: my Heart radio podcast, on Facebook, on busy level am
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know. Also I'm distributing this shows to all the
- 22:52Speaker 1: HBCU campuses. I want to be the millennial VARs eighteen
- 22:56Speaker 1: thirty four generational VARs because that's the entrepreneurship generation. And
- 23:00Speaker 1: so when I see people like you who are being
- 23:02Speaker 1: so successful, so dynamic, and so many different lanes. You know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: whether it's on radio, what you conquered, you were, you
- 23:08Speaker 1: were very successful in radio, okay, and can go on
- 23:11Speaker 1: radio right now and still be successful now and TV
- 23:14Speaker 1: as a host now, as an executive producer, and then
- 23:17Speaker 1: you're out there doing seminars and things like that. I
- 23:20Speaker 1: just want to help you continue to tell your brand.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So if you ever out there doing a seminar, you
- 23:25Speaker 1: need to Terry Sean McDonald. You let me know so
- 23:28Speaker 1: I can let everybody because that's the purpose of money
- 23:30Speaker 1: making conversation. It's brand relationships. Is communicating your success story
- 23:34Speaker 1: to everyday people so they can walk in and and
- 23:37Speaker 1: and basically I'm saying that everybody I put my name
- 23:40Speaker 1: on Egypt Sharaw, I put my stamp, if my snap
- 23:44Speaker 1: me and anything, she's the real deal. Because it's it's
- 23:48Speaker 1: a lot of people out there that that should not
- 23:51Speaker 1: be and that are taking money from people and don't
- 23:54Speaker 1: care and don't know what they're they're doing, and that
- 23:56Speaker 1: annoys me. I go, okay, so I gotta figure out
- 24:00Speaker 1: how I can separate. Let me be the better business
- 24:02Speaker 1: bureau entrepreneurship. That's what you got. You. You're throw a
- 24:09Speaker 1: couple of me my way, not passing it that girl,
- 24:11Speaker 1: I'm passing it girl. I just want to tell you
- 24:14Speaker 1: you're just so wonderful. And I watch your TV. I've
- 24:18Speaker 1: seen this growth and guess what, I understand you have
- 24:22Speaker 1: a fan every Sean McDonald and we're gonna continue this relationship.
- 24:26Speaker 1: And believe me, I'm blessed mutual. The feeling is mutual
- 24:29Speaker 1: with Shane. And you know. Before I go, I just
- 24:31Speaker 1: want to say a few things for your listeners. It's listen,
- 24:35Speaker 1: make a plan and work your plans, stick to your plan,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and then look around you. And if you're the smartest,
- 24:41Speaker 1: hardest working person in your circle, you need to get
- 24:44Speaker 1: a new circle. Thank you. Tell her about how to
- 24:47Speaker 1: get to your social media. It's just my name Egypt

- 26:43Speaker 1: my first studio guests in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you for

- 26:49Speaker 1: of yours in the second break a power couple conversations,
- 26:53Speaker 1: which I love. I love. Really, you know we're gonna
- 26:57Speaker 1: get on the phone and I really I won't get
- 26:58Speaker 1: enough time to talk about that because I really like
- 27:00Speaker 1: going to the dynamics of you know, your life, his life,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and you know how you mix it because you have
- 27:05Speaker 1: wonderful kids are important. That's your legacy. When I had
- 27:09Speaker 1: my daughter and changed my life, it gave me a
- 27:11Speaker 1: reason to possess a purpose because you're just out there
- 27:14Speaker 1: just doing your things. Yeah, but love expert read your book.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Let me just have everybody read her book, Going to
- 27:20Speaker 1: Distance for Love. Who was out in the lobby and
- 27:22Speaker 1: she went, you actually read my book? Yes, very impressive.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Those are the clips. Thank you. You have the show
- 27:28Speaker 1: Tell me about your shell your TV show on Bravo.
- 27:31Speaker 1: They premiered in January and I knew nothing about it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Now you know that he told me about his stuff.
- 27:40Speaker 1: He tell everybody he t the TV premiere. You know
- 27:44Speaker 1: you're laughing back there, but you know he didn't tell
- 27:45Speaker 1: me nothing about the premiere your show. He pitching ideas
- 27:49Speaker 1: about his life. Now you in my life, so you
- 27:53Speaker 1: could just separately, Thank you, thank you. Yes, we premared
- 27:56Speaker 1: in January. Is to Run for Love. We air on
- 28:00Speaker 1: day not Rome Texas, Rome, Rome, Italy. Right. Yes, yes,
- 28:06Speaker 1: we are Sunday nights at nine pm on Bravo, right
- 28:09Speaker 1: after Real Housewives of Atlanta and the premise of the
- 28:12Speaker 1: shows that I took five black women to Rome that
- 28:15Speaker 1: were struggling to find love in the US to date
- 28:17Speaker 1: exclusively Italian men exclusively attained Yes, okay, cool, Now how
- 28:22Speaker 1: did you find these women? I was I always like,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you know, I'm a I'm a TV producer. All these
- 28:27Speaker 1: casting Okay, so you're based where Los Angeles? Los Angeles?
- 28:32Speaker 1: Where did the casting for these women happen? All over
- 28:35Speaker 1: the country? Yes? Okay, however did you find these ladies?
- 28:39Speaker 1: And can I ask you the age group of them? Sure?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Our youngest person on the show is twenty five years old,
- 28:44Speaker 1: Mercedes Young, and the oldest is fifty one? Who? Okay, cool?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Now these are five women? Yes, okay, cool, y'all went
- 28:51Speaker 1: over to Rome. You actually went over there. Yes, they
- 28:53Speaker 1: lived together in a villa for five weeks. Five weeks okay, now, okay, now, okay,
- 28:58Speaker 1: just kind of like a bachelor at type show kind
- 29:02Speaker 1: of you kind of, but your stop. It's not an
- 29:05Speaker 1: elimination show, right, It's a show about helping women find
- 29:10Speaker 1: love and in the process, finding themselves. That's the key
- 29:13Speaker 1: right there. Yes, I have six sisters, so I can
- 29:15Speaker 1: talk about women. Win't gonna expert, but I can talk
- 29:20Speaker 1: so so you're wearing how many hats on this show? Host? Host,
- 29:25Speaker 1: love expert, matchmaker, matchmaker? How? Because first of all, I'm
- 29:30Speaker 1: just tell you something about this young lady. You heard
- 29:33Speaker 1: all the credits, creator, innovator, entrepreneur, mother, you know, designer, valentine, call,
- 29:43Speaker 1: who is you? I'm all those things? Why? Because you could?
- 29:48Speaker 1: Most people stop? You know, they stopped, They stop. That's
- 29:51Speaker 1: too much. I'm tired, I'm tied. Why do you keep going? Girl?
- 29:57Speaker 1: How do you do this? You know? The one thing
- 29:59Speaker 1: that I've been very clear about in my life is
- 30:02Speaker 1: that love is always going to be my ministry. Love
- 30:06Speaker 1: has always been the purpose of my life and what
- 30:09Speaker 1: I'm here to do. I never thought that I started
- 30:11Speaker 1: my career doing weddings and to work for a lot
- 30:14Speaker 1: of people in Hollywood, for sure, And I never thought
- 30:17Speaker 1: that was it. I just always felt that wherever I
- 30:20Speaker 1: was going, love was gonna take me there, Okay, and
- 30:23Speaker 1: it has. It's not paying some bills, that's the beauty
- 30:26Speaker 1: of it. So so in this process of being I
- 30:30Speaker 1: gotta say this a love expert, yes, okay, because you
- 30:33Speaker 1: have to. You have to carry that level of that title.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Otherwise people won't listen to you can't say I'm kind
- 30:39Speaker 1: of a leg love it, right, this is what I do? Yes, Okay,
- 30:42Speaker 1: when you when you take on that responsibility, what are
- 30:45Speaker 1: some of the problems of pitfalls or being a person
- 30:47Speaker 1: because you have friends, you have people running into you
- 30:49Speaker 1: in your streets. Yeah, people want to you. You're you're
- 30:52Speaker 1: taking a very intimate side of life and exposing it
- 30:55Speaker 1: in a books, on the radio, on TV. That's that's
- 30:59Speaker 1: your whole career here where the people were trying to
- 31:01Speaker 1: put on a wedding dress or planning for a wedding.
- 31:04Speaker 1: How have you been even to balance that that strong
- 31:07Speaker 1: emotion because not all love works. Love doesn't always work,
- 31:12Speaker 1: but that you've got to understand that the core of
- 31:14Speaker 1: love is always good. It's always good. So I am
- 31:18Speaker 1: in people's lives because they want it. I'm in people's
- 31:21Speaker 1: lives because they either want love, they're looking for love,
- 31:24Speaker 1: they're asking me to help them celebrate love. So the
- 31:27Speaker 1: fact that that is the gateway in which I come
- 31:29Speaker 1: into women's lives, it's all built around positive things. So
- 31:33Speaker 1: there is no negative effect with Diane Valentine. Okay, cool,
- 31:37Speaker 1: Now there's no negative effect now, which is what would
- 31:40Speaker 1: be basically your book. When I read the book, you
- 31:42Speaker 1: know you have these different situations. You gotta get this book, y'all.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Gotta get this book. Going to Distance for Love twenty
- 31:48Speaker 1: two tips, reaching ass. You gotta get this book because
- 31:51Speaker 1: you know everybody knows my background. Steve Harvey, you know
- 31:55Speaker 1: we have a book. Act like a lady, Think like
- 31:56Speaker 1: a man. Sold over three million books worldwide, translating their
- 32:00Speaker 1: the languages. The second book was equally successful, took three
- 32:03Speaker 1: books to New York Times number one best seller. So
- 32:06Speaker 1: with that being, where were you when I was writing?
- 32:07Speaker 1: Now again again, again again. I'm not gonna see his name,
- 32:13Speaker 1: but we're gonna bring him on the air. Here. I
- 32:16Speaker 1: am over here, take it with the room and you right,
- 32:19Speaker 1: New York Times. Just let you know this is what
- 32:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Number one New York Times Marketing and producing
- 32:27Speaker 1: an expert on my brand. Guru g r U Guru Diane.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I brought you on the show. Cup. See, we gotta
- 32:34Speaker 1: get a relationship. That's the purpose of money making conversations
- 32:36Speaker 1: because of the fact that people need to meet people
- 32:39Speaker 1: like you. Understand, how do you balance all these things
- 32:43Speaker 1: with no excuses? Because people people stop being successful because
- 32:46Speaker 1: they make excuses and the head out of me. Why
- 32:50Speaker 1: don't you make excuse you? Okay, your husband back there,
- 32:53Speaker 1: you're married, you got kids, a beautiful dog almost tall
- 32:57Speaker 1: as you, two other small ones. Okay, both of you
- 33:00Speaker 1: guys are here. And I know when I left, when
- 33:03Speaker 1: I was in ro I worry about my one daughter. Yes, okay,
- 33:06Speaker 1: how do you balance that emotion? Because you know you
- 33:10Speaker 1: carry that child nine months You know you have an
- 33:13Speaker 1: equally stronger attachment than the man. You know, Yes, you know,
- 33:19Speaker 1: you know, you know, and so so when you when
- 33:22Speaker 1: you understand these brands and relationships, how do you say
- 33:25Speaker 1: I have no excuses? Because you also said, uh, the
- 33:28Speaker 1: steps for your children? Yea, as he is doing well.
- 33:31Speaker 1: You know, I think that my husband and I we
- 33:34Speaker 1: certainly work hard at being present in our lives. So yes,
- 33:38Speaker 1: I do wear a lot of hats, and I juggle
- 33:40Speaker 1: a lot of things, but I focus on trying to
- 33:42Speaker 1: be a dred percent present wherever I'm at, like right
- 33:45Speaker 1: here with you, that's all I got. But when I'm
- 33:47Speaker 1: home with my daughter, on home with my grand babies,
- 33:50Speaker 1: they're all I got to. So you can handle a
- 33:53Speaker 1: lot as long as you're giving everything your full attention
- 33:56Speaker 1: when you're in it. I think people people get in
- 33:59Speaker 1: trouble when you try to juggle a lot of things
- 34:01Speaker 1: and multitasks too much and things start falling apart. But
- 34:04Speaker 1: when you can be focused for small periods of time,
- 34:07Speaker 1: then you can be successful. And you are successful and
- 34:09Speaker 1: so on this show, because we was out in the
- 34:12Speaker 1: lobby talking, I was saying that, you know, whenever you
- 34:15Speaker 1: whenever you take people, because we know we have stereotypes,
- 34:19Speaker 1: and these African American women, now you taking them a room,
- 34:22Speaker 1: they don't look like African American man they meet controversy, ensues,
- 34:28Speaker 1: trolls started hitting your social media. You know they right,
- 34:33Speaker 1: black old Black cry loves you. Being the same color.
- 34:37Speaker 1: We should go to the same church, We should be
- 34:39Speaker 1: the same height. You know, we should eat boby quep together.
- 34:43Speaker 1: How do you deal with that? And also I feel
- 34:47Speaker 1: that you should do a post show right after the air.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Right after the air. You're giving me another job. I
- 34:53Speaker 1: got you, I got you. You need to do a
- 34:55Speaker 1: Facebook Lita. You got you because you first of all articulate,
- 34:59Speaker 1: be aful, knowledgeable host, and you have the facts. Yes,
- 35:05Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. You know when I when I
- 35:07Speaker 1: think about the controversy that surrounds the show. This is
- 35:11Speaker 1: good controversy, Yes it is. It is I feel that
- 35:14Speaker 1: women are misinformed, particularly Black women, are misinformed because they
- 35:18Speaker 1: do not understand that this show is not about bashing
- 35:22Speaker 1: black men. I married a black man, Thank God, I
- 35:25Speaker 1: love him. I love everything about him. Right, So it's
- 35:28Speaker 1: not about bashing black men, but it is about being
- 35:31Speaker 1: a champion for black women because if you look at
- 35:34Speaker 1: the sheer numbers, there's a disproportionate number when it comes
- 35:37Speaker 1: to available Black women in the US and available African
- 35:41Speaker 1: American men and the black you know in the US.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So those numbers don't lie. And the only thing that
- 35:46Speaker 1: I'm saying is that we are worthy of love and
- 35:49Speaker 1: to love and be loved and to be wise and
- 35:52Speaker 1: to be happy. And sometimes you've got to find where
- 35:55Speaker 1: love is and it might not be in your community,
- 35:58Speaker 1: and that's okay. Be does love. You should be willing
- 36:01Speaker 1: to go the distance for love wherever it is. Now,
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm telling I got a daughter, and in my mind,
- 36:10Speaker 1: you know, I I feel that I've instilled a man
- 36:13Speaker 1: version of who she should marry, which is a version
- 36:16Speaker 1: of me. But I also know, deep in my heart
- 36:19Speaker 1: she has to have a good life. She so she
- 36:22Speaker 1: needs to marry the person who's going to treat her right,
- 36:25Speaker 1: give a respect fulfill her dreams, and willing to partner
- 36:30Speaker 1: fifty would equal respect. So that's what your show is.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And so people, people, people bottle neck opportunities and see,
- 36:39Speaker 1: just like you have different job opportunities, you have different
- 36:42Speaker 1: relationship opportunities. And this is a show that that you
- 36:46Speaker 1: you've taken it back to a room where you've been
- 36:50Speaker 1: going for twenty years. Yes, so this is not something
- 36:53Speaker 1: they just they didn't pop you in the round and
- 36:57Speaker 1: this is not a good storyline. I've been traveling in
- 37:00Speaker 1: the room, uh not just wrong, but all over Italy
- 37:03Speaker 1: for twenty plus years. And a lot of people don't
- 37:06Speaker 1: know this, but eight years ago my husband and I
- 37:08Speaker 1: got married in Lake Como, long before the show came about.
- 37:12Speaker 1: So I have a love I have a long love
- 37:14Speaker 1: affair with Italy and and what I like to tell
- 37:16Speaker 1: people that there we are very well traveled, me and
- 37:19Speaker 1: my husband. I'm a bit of a travel snob. But
- 37:22Speaker 1: that's another show. But I find that when I go
- 37:26Speaker 1: to Italy, and that why I fell in love with
- 37:28Speaker 1: it is there aren't a lot of places around the
- 37:30Speaker 1: world where as a woman of color, I feel so comfortable.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Right there is cultural relevance in Italy. There's a lot
- 37:38Speaker 1: of similarities in our culture, and so when I go there,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I've always felt just so incredibly welcome and I felt
- 37:44Speaker 1: at home. Well, I'm gonna tell you something. You know,
- 37:47Speaker 1: when I look at what you're trying to do, you know,
- 37:50Speaker 1: I am a fan because you can't be look at it.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I come from Field for Texas, Okay. Typically you know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be just a guy who doesn't make it.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You know, I did not really have a white student
- 38:06Speaker 1: throughout my middle school and my senior high school. I
- 38:10Speaker 1: went to college when I had a roommate who just
- 38:12Speaker 1: happened to be a white surfer. That that opened my
- 38:15Speaker 1: eyes to so much. And then not to see the
- 38:18Speaker 1: show what it's supposed to be about. This show is
- 38:20Speaker 1: just to me. It's like, Okay, this happened. This is
- 38:23Speaker 1: show is happening in the room. Ladies. Ladies, if you're
- 38:26Speaker 1: sitting at home by yourself, waiting on your dream man,
- 38:29Speaker 1: stop looking at color, look at opportunities. That's what this is.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And and you're gonna do a post show because on
- 38:38Speaker 1: Sunday nights, right after Real Housewives of Atlanta, come on
- 38:42Speaker 1: your comes your show. Okay, right after your show, We're
- 38:45Speaker 1: gonna go to Facebook and I'm gonna promoted. I'm held promoted.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Then you're gonna help promote. You're gonna do a post
- 38:51Speaker 1: rap show. Anybody you didn't like about the show. Anything,
- 38:55Speaker 1: he wants to advice, you want point of live, They're
- 38:57Speaker 1: gonna be live now because you hate you, I hate you.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Be right back, Hey, Hey, and guess what this job
- 39:07Speaker 1: I need paying? Give me everybody back for the husband
- 39:11Speaker 1: name and my man power couple. We'll be right back
- 39:17Speaker 1: with more from Masha McDonald's Money Making Conversations. As host

- 39:43Speaker 1: delivers financial literacy to help everyone with their brand success.

- 40:28Speaker 1: you learn the secrets of their success. Diane Valentine is
- 40:32Speaker 1: on the half of the power couple that I have
- 40:34Speaker 1: on the show today. He's been sitting in the back
- 40:36Speaker 1: of room. My next guest is the head of sports
- 40:39Speaker 1: Marketing at Troy Car Media. Please welcome to Money Making
- 40:42Speaker 1: Conversation the guy I've been doing a long time, and
- 40:44Speaker 1: help me throw the best part in the history of
- 40:48Speaker 1: Los Angeles at Hollywood and Vine. My man, Damon Haley,
- 40:53Speaker 1: thanks for having me. Your Sean, really really appreciating my guy,
- 40:57Speaker 1: My guy, well, thank you. First of all, When when
- 41:00Speaker 1: I Am was on the show, you know, I knew
- 41:01Speaker 1: she was in town, and then they told me to
- 41:03Speaker 1: use the town, I would. I gotta have them both,
- 41:06Speaker 1: you know. But I gotta show her love because you know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: she has a career right now that is booming. In
- 41:12Speaker 1: the show that follows, you know, Real Housewives of Atlanta
- 41:15Speaker 1: has an opportunity to win. Okay, so I gotta My
- 41:19Speaker 1: whole thing was to push you to death, you know,
- 41:22Speaker 1: so make sure you win. But then I said, you
- 41:24Speaker 1: only win, you're uniquely winning because you're part of somebody
- 41:27Speaker 1: who's equally successful in his lane. And so you know
- 41:31Speaker 1: when I say big events, you know, Playball, Matchion, Hollywood
- 41:35Speaker 1: and Vine, this is stuff he's done with me, Steve Harvey.
- 41:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You know, you know, imaginative. Um.
- 41:42Speaker 1: If he had budget issues, he makes adjustment. Hey man,
- 41:46Speaker 1: when you got that kind of money, okay, we won't
- 41:48Speaker 1: look at we're give rid of the dove. So we
- 41:50Speaker 1: give it to the dove and so so. So now
- 41:55Speaker 1: you're here at this new company. What is the difference
- 42:00Speaker 1: in your life right now? When I knew you and
- 42:02Speaker 1: what you're doing now as an individual, because again you
- 42:05Speaker 1: also always reinventing yourself. You also not a guy who's
- 42:08Speaker 1: just always smelling the roses looking at the next challenge.
- 42:12Speaker 1: What makes you special, my man? Well, I think when
- 42:15Speaker 1: we first engaged, I had my own agency with a
- 42:18Speaker 1: business partner, and UH, that really ran its course. UM.
- 42:23Speaker 1: I did a lot of great things across the United States. UH,
- 42:27Speaker 1: and at some point I said I just need to
- 42:30Speaker 1: take a step back and do something different, and I
- 42:33Speaker 1: actually began consulting. I've spent probably a third of my
- 42:38Speaker 1: time in China over the last five years or so. Uh,
- 42:43Speaker 1: China in Shanghai. What does that mean? You're there in China?
- 42:48Speaker 1: I was there pretty much for five years from April
- 42:53Speaker 1: through August working on a project with with Nike, various
- 42:56Speaker 1: projects with Nike. UM I had an opportunity to go
- 42:59Speaker 1: down before World Cup and Olympics to work on once
- 43:03Speaker 1: again projects with Nike. So I began running big and
- 43:08Speaker 1: major productions, uh with an agency to just consulting UM
- 43:14Speaker 1: big brands and so now with Troika, I gotta call
- 43:17Speaker 1: this summer from the president. Uh. You told me you
- 43:20Speaker 1: contacted me when it was happening. Were talking about transition
- 43:23Speaker 1: and stuff like that, and I went, hey, man, do
- 43:26Speaker 1: it this. Yeah, I thought it was time. The big
- 43:29Speaker 1: beats on it were big data obviously, going from a
- 43:33Speaker 1: small small public small publicly health company UH to a
- 43:37Speaker 1: larger UH publicly health company, being part of that experience
- 43:41Speaker 1: and then given the keys to UM take the company
- 43:45Speaker 1: in a different direction. So that that excites me. I
- 43:47Speaker 1: like building things. That's that's your history because you're creative guy.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Now let's talk about this power couple here. Okay, you
- 43:56Speaker 1: know I've seen her when she's making these transitions in
- 43:59Speaker 1: her because they're all out in public. You know, whether
- 44:03Speaker 1: she's affecting people. You know, you're not re producers, you know,
- 44:06Speaker 1: we're kind of like behind the scenes people. But she's
- 44:08Speaker 1: in front of the camera, just not the first time
- 44:10Speaker 1: she's been in front of the camera. How does that
- 44:12Speaker 1: play your Why does your role play in giving her
- 44:15Speaker 1: emotional support when it doesn't go right or criticism? How
- 44:19Speaker 1: does that role play in this relationship? Your role? I
- 44:23Speaker 1: think it's exactly where I need to be. I think
- 44:25Speaker 1: in order to fuel UM your significant other, you have
- 44:30Speaker 1: to be in one support. So UM I had a
- 44:34Speaker 1: big decision to make to kind of put the brakes
- 44:36Speaker 1: on what I was doing the last year to go
- 44:39Speaker 1: shoot with her. And it was an old wise guy
- 44:43Speaker 1: who told me, essentially told me to damon, Hey, you're smart,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you can make a lot of things happen. But this
- 44:48Speaker 1: television opportunity and following up the housewives, this is huge.
- 44:54Speaker 1: You should be there to give her every opportunity to succeed.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Uh And I am stat And that's exactly what I did.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Every night I was there to what Company, California? Wrong?
- 45:13Speaker 1: You know, I had to put my life on home
- 45:16Speaker 1: go follow my wife to wrong je Well you know,
- 45:20Speaker 1: part of every day don't tell all the suffer days,
- 45:29Speaker 1: but part of but but part of the turn power
- 45:33Speaker 1: is both individuals being powerful. So for me, it was
- 45:38Speaker 1: really a big sacrifice, you know, to say I'm not
- 45:42Speaker 1: going to do because I just mentioned I was going
- 45:44Speaker 1: to China, I was going to Brazil, New York. I
- 45:48Speaker 1: mean that's people asked me to make big things happen
- 45:51Speaker 1: over the summer. Multimillion dollar things happened, right, but this summer,
- 45:56Speaker 1: but this summer um I went to our last summer,
- 45:59Speaker 1: I said, I went to room And so that's all
- 46:02Speaker 1: I did. I was the boy toy, I was off.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I was management about the boy that ain't in the book,
- 46:11Speaker 1: going to distance. It was a happy lover board to
- 46:16Speaker 1: were talking about keep that under the lady man to
- 46:20Speaker 1: the gig guy, about the girl losing all our money
- 46:24Speaker 1: to this food, what you gave him her cold talk
- 46:27Speaker 1: about all that creep. But the ain't nothing about no
- 46:29Speaker 1: board told no man like I said, foot massages, shoulder rubs.
- 46:34Speaker 1: That was my goal. That was that was what I
- 46:35Speaker 1: was there to do. When you do so, you and
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'll tart. Looking at her show, Okay, it's following. He's
- 46:41Speaker 1: following the housewives of a laughing and a long root successful.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Get that, get them good numbers, get following, good numbers.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Just got a hold onto the numbers are build on.
- 46:50Speaker 1: That's the goal, right. So when she told you about
- 46:52Speaker 1: this show, what were your thoughts? Oh? I was so
- 46:55Speaker 1: happy for um. Like she had shared, she's been on
- 46:59Speaker 1: this this Italy thing for a while. Uh. And then
- 47:02Speaker 1: we got married in Italy, which introduced me to it.
- 47:05Speaker 1: But I saw it just meant a lot to us.
- 47:08Speaker 1: But for her to just get a show it set
- 47:11Speaker 1: in Italy, that just said all is possible because I
- 47:15Speaker 1: heard her dreams for so long about about loving Italy
- 47:18Speaker 1: and doing a show and then too to help women.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I think Diane shared at the base of who she is,
- 47:25Speaker 1: it's about love. So I've seen her do great wedding celebrations,
- 47:29Speaker 1: make women very happy, families, mother in law's, the whole nine.
- 47:33Speaker 1: But to have a woman be able to find something
- 47:37Speaker 1: she otherwise didn't think she found, or thought she lost
- 47:39Speaker 1: and would never find. I just thought it was a
- 47:41Speaker 1: great union. Uh, And once again it took her to
- 47:44Speaker 1: another level in terms of love expert. So love expert.
- 47:48Speaker 1: What's the future for Diane Valentine. Well, we know it'll
- 47:52Speaker 1: be with love. We know that love is gonna take
- 47:54Speaker 1: me wherever I'm supposed to go. And I think that,
- 47:58Speaker 1: you know, this show is going to be transformative for
- 48:01Speaker 1: black women. I think that black women are going to
- 48:04Speaker 1: see themselves in a fresh light and they're gonna start
- 48:07Speaker 1: believing that they really are worthy of love. We know
- 48:11Speaker 1: the reason I like to show it. Sometimes we need
- 48:13Speaker 1: uh to be given permission, correct, Okay, because we're restrictive
- 48:18Speaker 1: so much of what we cannot do, and we step out,
- 48:21Speaker 1: we get the stairs. You know why he would you know,
- 48:24Speaker 1: or she could do better than that. He can do
- 48:26Speaker 1: better than that same vice versa black man day now
- 48:28Speaker 1: that is ras get the same stairs. Okay, So when
- 48:31Speaker 1: I when I listened to this show, to me, I'm
- 48:33Speaker 1: excited because we need permission to say it's all right.
- 48:36Speaker 1: And I hope this becomes a signature show that launches
- 48:39Speaker 1: that movement. They who makes you happy? Yes, I agree.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I think that black men have have done it easier
- 48:47Speaker 1: and faster, um. And so I'm hoping that this conversation
- 48:51Speaker 1: continues and that that that women just find that it's
- 48:54Speaker 1: okay to love whoever loves you. And that's important. And
- 48:57Speaker 1: so so when I when I make that dam about
- 49:01Speaker 1: her doing the show post show, this is on her
- 49:04Speaker 1: own time after the show airs, go on Facebook Live.
- 49:07Speaker 1: We was on the sofa in the lib and you went,
- 49:10Speaker 1: you did that damon head noob? Why did you do
- 49:13Speaker 1: the damon head knob? When you know it's gonna take
- 49:16Speaker 1: up more of her time? I think, one, it's a
- 49:20Speaker 1: great idea to thank you, thank you baby, thank you baby.
- 49:28Speaker 1: It gives her more voice because we know the editors
- 49:31Speaker 1: are telling the story from nine to ten, and so
- 49:35Speaker 1: afterwards she gets to tell her own story. Uh, and
- 49:38Speaker 1: as we've seen through social media and just some of
- 49:40Speaker 1: the feedback over the last four weeks, that her story
- 49:44Speaker 1: needs to be told, uh maybe a little differently than
- 49:48Speaker 1: than the editors have told it. So because because also
- 49:51Speaker 1: it's her brand. That's why I want to do it,
- 49:54Speaker 1: because I think that once people people need to understand
- 49:57Speaker 1: you more. You know what I'm saying, your journey, you know,
- 49:59Speaker 1: your books, your history, because this show only tells the
- 50:02Speaker 1: small slice of you just being a love expert. You know,
- 50:05Speaker 1: like I said, you're the person that starts with the
- 50:08Speaker 1: wedding dress, to the event planning, to the posts. You know,
- 50:11Speaker 1: you and some of these people you may take relationships
- 50:14Speaker 1: with them for years and the good and bad of
- 50:16Speaker 1: those relationships. So I think this is just the next
- 50:19Speaker 1: stage of Diane Valentine and gets what you're not kicking.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Rashaan McDonald's the curb, I'm gonna be in your life.
- 50:26Speaker 1: So we got a minute left, so you know, sell yourself.
- 50:30Speaker 1: You know you around here right in New York Times.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Best we need to start, we need to start working
- 50:39Speaker 1: on book number three. I will do that for you
- 50:41Speaker 1: because guess for your gift and uh, Damon and I
- 50:44Speaker 1: haven't had a long relationship, and it's one of those relationships.
- 50:47Speaker 1: He knows whenever he's called me, and we may I
- 50:49Speaker 1: talked to us a couple of years. I pick up
- 50:51Speaker 1: the phone, He's in my phone, He's in my dial
- 50:54Speaker 1: uh in my phone book, and I would talk. And
- 50:56Speaker 1: so my, my, my, My compliment to you is that
- 50:59Speaker 1: I'm a friend for you. And when you make that
- 51:01Speaker 1: decision to go live, let us know and we will
- 51:04Speaker 1: post and support you socially to promote your brand because
- 51:08Speaker 1: it's all about you. It's all about your next level
- 51:10Speaker 1: of opportunities for you. Thank you, Thank you. Pick up
- 51:13Speaker 1: Going the Distance for love can find it. Didn't believe it,
- 51:17Speaker 1: She didn't believe it. Where can they get this book? Diane,
- 51:20Speaker 1: Valentine dot com a great power couple. I got another
- 51:23Speaker 1: power couple coming on the show later London on Dale
- 51:26Speaker 1: McMillan social media say, man, I got a checking clip.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Man I handle that when I get back. She said
- 51:31Speaker 1: that Valentine dot com we gotta produce on the sideline
- 51:33Speaker 1: that done radio did point. Thank you all for coming
- 51:35Speaker 1: on my show. Peace, Welcome to money Making Conversations. It's
- 51:42Speaker 1: the show that she has the secrets of success experience
- 51:44Speaker 1: firsthand by marketing and Brandon expert Rashan McDonald. I will
- 51:48Speaker 1: know he's giving me advice to many occasions. In the
- 51:50Speaker 1: case you didn't notice, I'm not broke, you know, he'll
- 51:53Speaker 1: be interviewing celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs and industry decision makers. It's
- 51:57Speaker 1: what he likes to do, it's what he likes to share.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Now it's time to hear from my man, ra Sean McDonald.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation. Here we come. Come on now. I
- 52:06Speaker 1: appreciate y'all. I appreciate everybody who listens, who watches, who
- 52:10Speaker 1: follows money making conversations. My next guest is the chairman
- 52:14Speaker 1: of the north Star Group, executive publisher of Source Magazine,
- 52:18Speaker 1: The Source Magazine and Jones Magazine. Please welcome the Money
- 52:22Speaker 1: Making Conversation. Lon Dale McMillan, Hello, good morning, how are
- 52:26Speaker 1: you free? You know something? When I went to your
- 52:29Speaker 1: resume thank you for coming coming on the show, I went,
- 52:33Speaker 1: why have I not met this young man before? We
- 52:36Speaker 1: we we've done so many things in twined together. When
- 52:39Speaker 1: I looked at your resume and so it's so excited
- 52:41Speaker 1: to see have you on the show. To talk about,
- 52:44Speaker 1: you know, the Source magazine, which you know I had
- 52:47Speaker 1: an opportunity to produce one of the shows that was
- 52:48Speaker 1: hosted by Monique way back on UPN and so I've
- 52:52Speaker 1: had a relationship with this magazine over the years. And
- 52:56Speaker 1: let me take him into explain everybody, if you don't mind,
- 52:58Speaker 1: what the North Star Group is. The north Cub Group.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I took this offline. Hopefully this is correct, and I'm
- 53:03Speaker 1: sure it is. Came a few website is a private
- 53:05Speaker 1: equity group of innovative marketing, media, talent, management and production
- 53:10Speaker 1: companies that connects brands to consumers and the community through
- 53:14Speaker 1: our insights, resources and various platforms including digital, print, mobile,
- 53:20Speaker 1: social media, and experiential. That is what the North Still Group.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Is that a group that you started or how did
- 53:28Speaker 1: they come about? Lindale right? That is a group I started.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I started that business as an alter ego to my
- 53:38Speaker 1: law Yes, I know, because most people know me as
- 53:43Speaker 1: a business entertainment lawyer and and that is my primary
- 53:49Speaker 1: I guess, um, I guess claimed to getting into business
- 53:54Speaker 1: where I've represented UH and managed prints. Um. But for that.
- 54:00Speaker 1: In Michael Jackson's Stevie Wonder read the Franklin, Kanye West,
- 54:06Speaker 1: Little Kim so many, many artists in the entertainment industry,
- 54:10Speaker 1: Spike League, Wesley Snipe, so many. And as I was
- 54:15Speaker 1: representing them as a lawyer, I realized that there was
- 54:19Speaker 1: a need to put together business company to help them
- 54:24Speaker 1: with structuring their business UM and so I started that
- 54:29Speaker 1: years ago and one of my clients happened to have
- 54:32Speaker 1: been The Source Magazine, and UM I wound up investing
- 54:39Speaker 1: in and then later taking over the Source Magazine because
- 54:43Speaker 1: the Sources the number one hip hop media brand in
- 54:49Speaker 1: the world, and I wanted to be able to read
- 54:51Speaker 1: reconnected to the community UM and use hip hop in
- 54:56Speaker 1: a more positive way. And so I'm from the from
- 55:00Speaker 1: the community, and I think that our community has a
- 55:03Speaker 1: lot uh to offer hip hop, and hip hop has
- 55:07Speaker 1: a lot to offer the community, and I want to
- 55:10Speaker 1: make sure that hip hop is used in an enterprising
- 55:13Speaker 1: and inspiring way. So I so I acquired The Source
- 55:17Speaker 1: Magazine and that's what the North Star Group is. With
- 55:20Speaker 1: that being saying you say reconnect, Why do you use
- 55:23Speaker 1: the word reconnect Because I think the hip hop commercial
- 55:27Speaker 1: culture has taken many of our most talented people away
- 55:33Speaker 1: from our community and ways that have left so many challenges,
- 55:39Speaker 1: and we need to reconnect the art, the music, the
- 55:42Speaker 1: culture of fashion back to the community in a positive
- 55:45Speaker 1: way rather than once they get a hit record, they
- 55:49Speaker 1: make money, they leave the community, and we still have
- 55:51Speaker 1: all of these problems left in our community. And you've
- 55:54Speaker 1: got people talking all this talk that is not as
- 55:57Speaker 1: inspiring as we can make it. And so want to
- 56:00Speaker 1: make it what it was intended to be when we
- 56:03Speaker 1: started hip hop in this culture which was supposed to
- 56:06Speaker 1: inspire people, educate people, and empower people. Okay, but when
- 56:11Speaker 1: you you're talking to Richard McDonald, ust me. Okay. I'm
- 56:15Speaker 1: what they call a marketing, branding guru. I'm a media force,
- 56:19Speaker 1: social media influenza. I got a half million fan base,
- 56:23Speaker 1: email fan base, UM radio show. How did you? How
- 56:27Speaker 1: do you get a person like me engaged into your process?
- 56:30Speaker 1: Because I'm here to help. I'm here to spread the
- 56:32Speaker 1: word not for financial games. Because you're motivating me with
- 56:36Speaker 1: your with your vision. How can I help you? Well? First, first,
- 56:41Speaker 1: you getting on me by understanding that there's a connection
- 56:45Speaker 1: and community service and commerce, So you should you should
- 56:51Speaker 1: find financial game because we need to produce products and
- 56:55Speaker 1: services that our community need to have and they will
- 56:59Speaker 1: pay for. We need to recycle our culture and our
- 57:03Speaker 1: dollars and our commerce in our community. How do you help?
- 57:07Speaker 1: You help by doing what you're doing right now, you
- 57:10Speaker 1: having we speak on your platform, spreading the word, getting engaged,
- 57:15Speaker 1: contributing stories. Um, we have to see each other as
- 57:20Speaker 1: allies and partners in commerce and in culture, and you
- 57:25Speaker 1: have to just see how can you come to anyone
- 57:28Speaker 1: like So this is not just you and I to
- 57:30Speaker 1: your question, but this is to your listeners. When you
- 57:33Speaker 1: approach someone that may have something of value, identify what
- 57:38Speaker 1: you can offer to add value to something that's already
- 57:43Speaker 1: going forward, and then come up with a reasonable price
- 57:48Speaker 1: or return. So when you ask me what can you do,
- 57:53Speaker 1: you can do what you do best and connect it
- 57:55Speaker 1: to what we do and then we figure out how
- 57:58Speaker 1: we can make too. Well. That's why that's why I
- 58:05Speaker 1: made I created money making conversations because of the fact
- 58:08Speaker 1: that I want to be a connector. I want to
- 58:10Speaker 1: be It's interesting that the brand of of the source
- 58:14Speaker 1: because we're gonna get to Jones magazine in a minute,
- 58:17Speaker 1: but the brand of the source because it's it's an
- 58:19Speaker 1: age range. Now because in two thousand one, when I
- 58:22Speaker 1: was producing the show and on the upn and Monique
- 58:26Speaker 1: was hosting. You know that was dead on that eighteen
- 58:30Speaker 1: to thirty four audience. Now that audience has gotten older,
- 58:34Speaker 1: who are fans of the Source magazine and then you
- 58:36Speaker 1: still have that eighteen to thirty four audience. Does that
- 58:39Speaker 1: make it difficult because the I feel the age range
- 58:44Speaker 1: of that of your brand is extended itself, or it
- 58:48Speaker 1: doesn't matter because you just focusing on a certain age group.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I think it doesn't matter. It's all about how we
- 58:54Speaker 1: produce our content, because because it gives us an advantage
- 58:59Speaker 1: in one rous fact, because we do have the baby boomers,
- 59:04Speaker 1: the people who are in there and at thirty five
- 59:06Speaker 1: to fifty five range who are aware. But it also
- 59:10Speaker 1: because of the content. You know, kendricle Mar last night
- 59:13Speaker 1: cleaned up. You know Mars cleaned up. You know, you
- 59:17Speaker 1: know they beat a lot of very very well known
- 59:20Speaker 1: people who were sitting there expecting to get awards. But
- 59:23Speaker 1: you know the content of this culture is young culture.
- 59:27Speaker 1: So that's the content that we produced especially during throughout
- 59:31Speaker 1: digital or the Source dot com, through our Instagram, through ours,
- 59:38Speaker 1: through all, through all Facebook and Twitter. You know, we've
- 59:42Speaker 1: got we've got platforms for people who consume music differently.
- 59:46Speaker 1: So I think that because we the Source has always
- 59:49Speaker 1: been about discovering and promoting new talent, that always will
- 59:55Speaker 1: keep young millennials engaged because they're thirsty for an opportunity,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: So we want to help give them the opportunity. The
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: difference between us, though, is that we want them to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: curate it in a way that's not only like clever
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: and slick, but also inspiring and empowerful. Is not going
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: to just completely to denigrate and degrade our culture. I'll
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: tell you what I'm talking about. What that's what the
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: north Star part of it is, right, you know, So
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: we we do everything with them with the north Star
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: land because we believe that you can still be heading,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: you can still have fun, you can still be lit.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: But also you don't have to actually take us in
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: the gutter in the in the mix of everything. Well,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: you know, here's the thing interesting, because I can see
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: our relationship is going to stay together because your vision
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: mirrors of mine. I launched money Making Conversations and for
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: the entrepreneurship generation. Who is the entrepreneurship generation eighteen and
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: thirty four millennials. I really want to be Uncle Roshan
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: to the millennials. I want to be their voice. And
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: so this platform right down, you know, relaunching in Atlanta,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: is on our Heart Radio podcast, and then I'm launching
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: it to all the HBCU campuses UH this year. And
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: so because I feel that that voice, the same voice
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: that you're talking to, they, like you said, there's a
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: thirsty noess about them that they want to be aware
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: of and be informed. Because if I see all these
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: things as you're doing, you know, Source three sixty four
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: day festival celebrate the seven pillars of hip hop. You know, music, fashion, dance,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: and art. You you got a three sixties man that
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: you're working on. That's gonna be I think over the
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: next five years, it's gonna be the leader. You know.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: When I was growing up, you know, it was Jet
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: magazine on my counter, you know, it was just it
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: was on my it was everything magazine. I see Source
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: being that that that new magazine will be on the tabletop. Correct. Absolutely.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I think that the Sword has both the heritage and
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: also the currency of now. Um, you know that we
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: can we can actually continue that motion. A lot of
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: people counted hip hop out that hip hop and to stay,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: we have to engage and re engage a lot of
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: people walked away from hip hop in our community because
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: it's not like what it used to be when they
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: were here. So I compare hip hop to like sports,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: you know, and I think the Source Magazine is the
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: vehicle that connected. You know, you have different generations of
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: different people who love different athletes and then uniforms and
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: so forth. But it's here to stay. And I think
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: the Source is the vehicle to make sure that you
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: get it and you get it in a way that
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: is going to be authentic and that's going to empire
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: our community. We'll be back with more Jones Magazine. I'm
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: on the phone with Landale macmilland we'll be right back
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: more from John McDonald and Money Making Conversations. Let me

- 1:03:47Speaker 1: own city and leave in order to group. Because a
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: fish don't get bigger as long as it's inside, get
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: bigger when you put it in a poet. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: please walk into phone the one and only Charlie Wilson.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: So many people have really been trying to get me
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: to do a gospel record for so many years, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I've been promising God that I would, I would shout
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: him out to do something. You know that, my baby,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Come on, man, but a little Jesus in the song,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: come on brother, miss Patty little bell, and you know what.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna be doing concerts and little clubs. Thank you.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Thank you for you so that I can touch you
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: when I'm singing with my hand. Thank you. See I
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: told you be there every Monday, ten am the noon.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Basy Love and Naty Money Making Conversations. Welcome back, Rushan McDonald,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: the host of Money Making Conversations on the Phone, the
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: chairman of the North Star Group, executive publisher of Source
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Magazine and Jones Magazine First Break. We talked extensively about
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the Source magazine. But I'll be remissed. Eighty percent of
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: my social media followers are female. Uh seventy of my
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: fan club member which just reaches over half me, almost
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: half me our female. So the the becoming the pre
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: eminent guy for shopping for female is Jones Magazine. Tell
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: us about it, Lindale, Hey Jones magazine is just a
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: fantastic UM property of print and online digital UM that
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: that caters to women of color, UM, particularly African American women, UM,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Afro Latino women UM in their fashion, beauty and style. Right. UM,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: it's one that think of like in style. It's a
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: shopping mag it's not a social magazine talking about issues.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: This week by things talked about products. You know, it's
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: that it's that shopping guy that think Vogue and l
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: and in style our culture. Now, what drove the thought
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: process for creating this? What? What? What? You know? There's
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: always is like okay, we need this. Okay, I got
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: the fact we needed, but how does one drive it
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: to be successful? Okay? Well what drives it is that
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: women in our community are often the CEOs and the
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: c epos of our of our communities, so they drive
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: the most of the purchasing decision community. And secondly, our
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: women are black and brown women are beautiful, stylish, diverse,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: and we wanted to make sure that we had something
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: that focuses on their styles. There are there are other
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: major publications, including Essence, which I love and you know,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: my mother had a beauty salon. I love Essence, but
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Jones is like the fashionable and beauty little sister of that.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: We don't get into all of the big social issues
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and all of that. We deal with our fashion, style beauty.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: There's a place for everything, you know, and Jones is
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: that that beauty place where you can understand where to
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: get products, how much it caused you know, style. You
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: can see beautiful women um styling and profiling, and that's
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: what Jones is about, and that's that's that's how you
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that that's an important part about being able to drive.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Do you have like I've had Tracy Edmands on the show,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: she talks about her health and wellness all right now?
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Website which health and wellness? Is that a part of
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: your brand bill out as well as when you talk
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: about style and shopping, is health and wellness? What about
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I'm just gonna throw these out? What am I baking?
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: And you feel that those are not the generational thoughts
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: that you want to promote and Jones Magazine to your
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: female audience, or am I reaching too far? You know?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: We definitely keep health health involved because health is part
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: of fitness, part of lifestyle. So everything that's lifestyle, fitness
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: and looking good, you know, it's not about only what
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: we promote, you know, it's about what that, what that,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: what that brand is about. We don't profess to be
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: all things to every woman, just you know, or every
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: black and brown woman. We're very focused on fitness, style, fashion,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: and beauty and that's what we do. There are other
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: publications that focuses on other things, and we don't try
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: to do it all. We just do what we do
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: extremely well. And I like that. I like that you're
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: you're a gentleman who's talking with a lot of confidence.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I said these events earlier. I want to slow down
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: for you to give me a little background on each
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: source three sixty What exactly is that to my audience?
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Plus sixty is a festival and conference that focuses on
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: seven pillars are film, fashion, music, technology, sports, and business.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Business is important because in hip hop you're always talking
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: about hustle. Unfortunately, the hustle that a lot of the
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: guys are talking about hustles that have a criminal edge
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: to it. We want to create a hustle that is
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: lawful and also enterprising, and so we use the culture
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: of us, the film, fashion, art, technology and so forth
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: to kind of spread both community and business enterprises it's
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: our similar to like south By Southwest, you know, you
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: know when we were young you had Jack the Rapper
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: and all those times. Yeah, focusing on music in an
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: industry and now you've got technology which is driving so
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: much of how we do business that we have to
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: bring that home to our community. We have concerts, we
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: have films or previews, we have a panel discussions. For example,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: last year we had a huge panel discussion and went
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: very deep on the cannabis industry lawful Mary lawa, which
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: is going to be a multi trillion dollar business. We
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: as a people have gone to prison too much with
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: with cannabis. Now that's gonna become lawful. We now need
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: to be able to be entrepreneurs in that field. You know,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: we of all people should be the leaders of that industry.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: And so that's something for example that we looked at
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: and we focused on. We focus on film, music, fashion.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: We had a power panel with the former CEO b
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Et Debate Lee and master Pace. Can you imagine master
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: p Is definately did on the days that's power brother,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: because because I like master because you know he want
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: to gradroom guys. You know, gradroot guys, us straight hustler,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: you know straight hustler. Now, now when is when is
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: this event it held? And where's it held? So they'd
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: only tell every year in the August of September in Brooklyn, Brooklyn,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: New York. This will be This will be our second,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: this will be our fifth year. And this year, this
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: year we're gonna start traveling it to other cities because
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: of the success of what we do. It's been, it's
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: been an amazing success. We've received citations from the Mayor's
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: office for the Brooklyn Well President. We've got mads from
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: other cities in Atlanta, in l A, Chicago, all over
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: North Carolina, Charlotte asking us to come and to actually
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: bring that positive spirit of hip hop culture which is
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: which is also now international. This is something that we
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: created as a community that has an international component, and
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: we need to create international business opportunities off of it,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: not just see it in a very limited way where
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: it's just music or it's not just in the strip
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: clubs all over Yes, sir, yes, sir. Now, when I
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: when I hear all these these are amazing things. Okay,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you're on the phone with me, you know, and I'm
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: telling you something that I'm a fan, and I say
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: that to you, because that's why I created Money Making
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Conversation to give you another portal, another outreach. So you know,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: we talked about a little bit what I can do
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: for you. I'm letting you know whatever you need for
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: me to do for you, I'm available to you because
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I'm a connector that guy. You know I talked about
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Tracy amen As I talked about I got kier Kira Douglas.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Uh Kiara Douglas on the show. She does fashion and
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: dance here in Atlanta market. She's gonna be on the
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: show Wives and Girlfriends. You have all these individuals in
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: that entrepreneurial space who are doing philanthropists. So so when
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: I hear about it moving around, you know, that's that's
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the beast right there. Man. I remember several years ago
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: when Sas Festival to approached me by doing an essence
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: live because they were considering doing it in different cities.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: So for that thought process has never been done. I
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: think it's gonna be a big lift for you and
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: bringing it to a place like Atlanta, which has a
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: strong African American market, taken to a place like Chicago,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: which has a strong African American take it to d C. Wow,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: you know it's gonna be off the change in d C.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Come on now, ec. So, so I'm just telling you.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I'm just telling you d do come on my show, man,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: get me hyped. And I don't hear from you no more. Okay, okay,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I know everything. But I can find your brother, I
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: can find you. Know. I'll be d M and you.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: I'll be d M and you direct message in you
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: come on, do all right, let's do it. Let's do it.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: Team work makes the dream work. Absolutely. And I say
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: that to you, man, because when I hear what you're doing,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: you know you're just like me. You know my degrees
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: in mathematics. I come from a corporate environment of IBM,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: and I love what I do because you're creative guy.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: You know, you just happen to be a lawyer, and
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: you're changing lives every day, man, either social through social media,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: digital or print. Right now, you're changing lives on my
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: radio show. So when I hear you know what, I'm
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: a lawyer, but I also owned my own law term.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: So I was an entrepreneur. My mother was an entrepreneur,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: owned beauty salon. And it's just in our DNA and
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I think our community has to get back and helping
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: to create businesses that are of color. Whether you own
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: them or not, you have to be a part of
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: building them because you are building and investing in your community.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: And we have often chosen after benefiting of the civil
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: rights to not work in companies that are like us,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: and that has cost us dearly. Not to say that
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: there's anything wrong with working for other companies, but if
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: that becomes what we do for the most part, for
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: the most part, we're going to be relying on other
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: communities for our livelihood and we need to be able
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: to have more control over what we do, particularly from
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: from cultural accets that are created in our communities. I
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: want to say before we go, the source power theory
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: is on news stands now and that's a business issue.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Focus on power. It focuses on being great at what
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: you do, entrepreneurship and having an impact. You know, in
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: life you look back and you'll you'll remember many things,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: but the things you remember most when you when you
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: close those eyes are your family and loved ones and
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: what impact you made or you didn't make it in life.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I say, make an impact and make sure that that
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: impact benefits your family and your community and stop worrying
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: about what other people think and get to get to
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: this business. My man, give me that link so I
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: can promote it on my social media. We're gonna talk soon.

- 1:18:48Speaker 1: We're excited to be We're gonna talk about, you know,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: this TV show. But I got excited because you and
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: that United Age group or what I feel is the
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: entrepreneurship genervation and what what what? What excited me when
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: I was at the age of twenty when you decided
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: to start your own business, you know, you know I
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: was that was interested me. And we're gonna get to you,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: you know her here. Hey, hey, I'm on the end here.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: But you know is that, you know, always amazes me
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: when people at that age get it, you know, get
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: a clear understanding of this is what I want to do.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: How And I want I want you to listen. How
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: the age of twenty that you said, hey, I want
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: to start my own business. I know you did it,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you know, you dancing all of that stuff. How did that?
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: How did that come into play? Well, I'll be honest,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I'm very blessed I have a family that has like
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: an entrepreneurship spirit. Like literally, I think like almost all
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: of my family members on their own business or at
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: some point did. Um. So I was actually in college.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I went to Georgia State University. So I was there
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: majoring in marketing and business. And my mom had a
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: corporate job. She was like a VP of her company
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: at the time, and she was a business consultant. So
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: she decided that she was gonna kind of retire early
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: wanted to open a business. And it was always a
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: dream of mine to open a business. Like I said,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: I had seen all of my family members do it. Um.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: So it was just kind of like, let's merge what
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: we love and take our business sense and do something
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: with it. Um. And for us, it wasn't about finding
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: a business that was going to make us money. It
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: was about finding a business that we thought, you know,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: would let us grow our passion and we could you know,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: so into other people. Um. And So for us, that
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: was dance because I've been dancing my entire life. My
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: mom has been a dance small you know, my entire life.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: And so that was just something that we wanted to do.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: And you know, I was just very lucky, um to
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: be in a position to be able to do that
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: age while I was in college, Like I said, I
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: had my mom um, who was a business consultant who
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: knew you know, who knew the ropes of business and
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: what to do, and who was there to kind of
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Earl's younger. Yeah, she's younger. So she was actually in
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: high school when I opened the business. Um, so it
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: started out with just me and my mom um, and she,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: you know, after she graduated, join the family business as well.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: But yeah, which is very lucky to have that mentor,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: which is the aerial talent Agent. Yeah, it's area area. Okay,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: you know I corrected that. Okay, are I Talent and
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: what you can't really tell the way it's written, it
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: looks like it's her almost yeah, area, it's are I
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Talent Agency. Yeah, and that's something that's kind of new
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: for us. But we wanted to have the opportunity to
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: you know, provide these talented dancers that we see every
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: day with opportunities in the dance world. Okay, cool, Now
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: you got a very talented husband over there. I do.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: I'm a very lucky woman. It is lucky because of
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the age, you know, you don't know who you get.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I've been married, but I'm lucky to you know what
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: I'm saying, because in the business that I live in,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: you know, you have all these so many things coming
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: at you, good and bad because you're an entertainer and
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: you're in entertainment, you know, being dancing all your life,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: and so Harry. You know, I remember, I remember back
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: back in the green room that you felt fortunate that
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: you married a woman of this caliber, even a little
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: shop moment of just seeing you, you felt this was
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: a blessing. Um for me, she was. She was so
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: different from all the other women. Man. She never let
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: me talk to her any kind of way. She had
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: morals and value, She had standards, um, believe it or not.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: She reminds me one of my mom. And I'm my
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: mama's boy, and my mom is yes, and she is
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: the holiest person on the earth. And my wife has
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: a strong I called him yesterday to talk to her.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: He didn't call her back in church. But like but
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: like like like people say, man, you always want a
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: man like your mama, similar to your mom, and she
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: was just different. Like I knew she was the one
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: early on. You know, I was just a little crazy things,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: you know, experience of things she did. But it's it's
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: such a blessing because, believe or not, she is the
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: calm one in the relationship. It's times when she tells me, well,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I think you just need to calm down. It's not
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: that like, you know, it's not that serious. So she
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: she she she llows me out sometimes. Well, being an athlete,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: you know, you you're you're gonna be at an extra gear,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: you know, because you're constantly training and you have a
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: short window. You know what I'm saying. That's that's the
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: honest part about I felt when I was talking to
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: you and then your bio is that you always knew
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: there was there was life after football, you know. With that,
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: with that understanding, what what preparations are you making? Um
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I'll say with me was it started when I was
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: very talented brother named Tony. Didn't even know that. I
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: been a big fan of Tony, largest state first round
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: draft pick in New York Knicks, been following him for years,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: you know. So so when I read that, I went,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: you got to be kidding my brother, what I'm saying.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: You know, so because of the fact that you know
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: I I know a lot and I see a lot
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: and that's why that's when they came into the book.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: I go, y'all just on the stage. Y'all right, y'all
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: got stuck. Y'all stuck with me now. And I received
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: all my talents to give you guys an opportunity to
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: be successful, because that's my legacy, my legacy Guard is
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: given me. Since I was a teen, I've been helping
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: people like this. I just didn't know that you know
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And as I got over there, I
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: started building our Steve's career and I started asking what
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: I wanted to do. This is what I want to do.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: I want to be able to take some gifts to
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: God and giving me from a marketing and branding standpoint relationships,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: we're able to connect the doctor and show you guys.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: And I want to be the force of that millennial
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: group because you are my future. You're the people are
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: gonna pay the taxes, You're the people are gonna build
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: this country to the next level of greatness. And so
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: when I read about your brother, went again, just like
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: you were talking about that entrepreneurship, you know, the athleticism
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: of your life. And then y'are giving it back to
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: your foundation. Come on that it all started with my
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: mom and dad. Though we had that foundation. Man, I
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: think a lot of people gotta understand, Um, you don't
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: a lot of people don't have both pairs in the household,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: but you can lean on somebody else. But it all
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: starts with that foundation. And I think me and my
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: brother and my sister, we had a great foundation with
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: my mom and dad and they built for us and
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: they instilled within us early on to giving back even
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: when they didn't have so much to always get took
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: community and help other kids out. Um. So that's me
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: and my brother. It was instilled into us. Okay, Now
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: you have the other other part of the Douglas property.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: What is that I actually started a year ago where
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: we uh we take home anything to do with that, No,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: she does, She got her home. Baby. You ain't got
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: no opinion about what he does. But I got three
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: businesses like the show this is my baby, my baby.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: But but but you got to be able to and
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: you know, this is your life, you know, y'all. Attractive couple,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: y'all y'all, and high profile, risky businesses. You know, I
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: would tell people I've been producing TV shows with guess
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: what they could be counsel. When you thank you about
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: that pay that car note, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: And that's that's and so so you have property? She said,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: that's his, and then she dance. You know, the talent
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: agency and all that good stuff. You ain't nothing to
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: say about that. You ain't got the page. She didn't
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: ever come, and you go, well, she comes to me.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: She comes to me about advice because one thing we
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: share with you, we definitely share business with each other.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I'm hard on her because why I see the potential
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: that she has to be great right now, you're kind
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: of like a mini manager. Yeah, Like I tell I'm
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: the guy to tell her things that she don't want
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: to hear. It's bad enough that all three of my
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: businesses are two of them are family owned businesses. So
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: you know, you constantly have mom in your ear, and
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: then you go home and and then you go home
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: and you have and I'm wrong with it. I keep
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: it real. I don't cut no corners. I don't shoot
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: the cod the TV show a little bit. I wouldn't
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: because we know we're gonna talk about the next break.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: But I want to really introduce the whole personality here
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: because I love when I get an opportunity to have
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: a couple on the show, because that didn't agement is
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: so important, especially in the lifestyle that y'all live. You
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: know this, this is the beauty lifestyle, this is the
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: you know, Hollywood is about the youth. You know, if
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: you haven't established who you are in your twintes, you
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: pretty much hang it up when you in your fifties
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: because they have nothing for you. And that's white black fact.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. And so when I when I when
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: I was talking to you guys in the green room
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: over the Fox, it was it just struck me that
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: there's a certain implied energy that you guys are not
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: going to fail. Well me, my my mind said, listen,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: I don't, I don't. I'm gonna feel anything I do.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: I just wide, you know. And but but it was
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: the cool thing about it was that I was able
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: to see two individuals. You know, I've been I love
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: couples in my life, you know, stealing you doing all
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: those relationship books. So I've seen enough relationship. I did
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: not see a fear in your relationship. You know what
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: I'm saying, a fear of Okay, she gotta stay close
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: to me or he gotta stay close to me, you know.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: But but that's important though, it's important, and and it's
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: it's funny you say that because the pastor was just
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: talking about that yesterday in church. How in relationships, a
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: lot of a lot of things fail. You can love somebody,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: but you can level but you might not trust them. Yes,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: like with me and my wife, like it's times when
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: she's just I can go somewhees, I'm not worried about you.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: I got the she goes places, I'm not worried about her.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: I think that's important though in a relationship that you
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: each have your own identity and have your own things
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: going on. So for us, it's not we're not stuck
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: with each other's but all day because we're so busy
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: with other things that we have going on. And that's
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: important that you said like that on the radio. We'll
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: be later. They stuck up somebody something, They're gonna be great.

- 1:30:00Speaker 1: been trying to get me to do a gospel record
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: for so many years, and I've been promising God that
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: I would shout him out to do something. You know,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: and burn goes my baby. Come on, man, but a
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: little Jesus in him song. Come on brother, miss Patty
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: little bell and you know what, I'm gonna be doing
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: concerts and little clubs. Thank you, Thank you for you
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: so that I can touch you when I'm singing with
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: my hands. Thank you. See I told you be there
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: every Monday ten am, ne noon be is he love
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: and Naty money making conversation with the with the Douglas
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Power couple, Carol and Harry. You know they're fantastic. You know,
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: a little background Harry professional football player Nick Mayer, you know,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: or do show on the show. Here. You know, he
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: got excited because here rise up fan. You know, so
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: he's gonna be grabbing a picture you before you leave.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I'm brother with me a picture. Yeah. Look, got stop
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: be real quick though, because listen, you know I never
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: let people call me a football player. Okay, cool, I'm
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: a man that plays a game of football because I
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: had so many other things in my life that I
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: can do. Cool but but but don't don't don't be
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: alone if I made yeah interrupting, Okay, now what is
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: this thing? What is this again? I'm a man that
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: plays the game of football. So that's just one of
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: the things that I do. Because we were talking about
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: the property before Kilty jumped in front of you, were
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: talking about you. Did she lean head forward and head
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: in front of you? You know, I'm like what I
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: so talk me about properties? Um, I basically started a
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: year ago. Right now we have eight properties. Um, we
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: buy them for for cheap, fix them up, rent them out,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: some of them will resell them right now yesterday. Also, yeah,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: you're not a football player. Played football, that's one of
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: the plans, you know. But listen, I was always a
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: fan of When I was four years old, I wanted
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: to be a lawyer. So while I was in college,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: so before I graduated my senior year, I did an
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: internship at a law firm called Frost Bround of Tie.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: So I was working at a law firm and going
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: straight to practice. But like when I go to talk
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: the kids, I tell them, like, now in middle school,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: you gotta have playing A, B, C and D now
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: because it's not like when I grew up. You could
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: wait to high school or college to decide what you
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: want to do with the world's moving too fast. Now,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: you said you have a property. What do you mean
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: we said a property? Um, I have duplexes, condos, town
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: homes and houses. So you hire management company to how
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: the exchange your people moving out of the houses that work?
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: My dad does it all. We keep it in the family.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: You ain't sharing the check. We keep talking about always
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: all family here. Why give other people money and you
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: have the bad your father, your family has the background
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: to do us. So, so that's so I'm looking. I
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: see why y'all jumped up and down in that green
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: room when I start talking about the entrepreneurship generation. Y'all
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: were not lying. Y'all have been instilled with that presence
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: to be successful. Y'all don't want to work for the
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: corporate lifestyle. You'll want to build your own brand and directive. Now,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: with that being said, there's a certain mortality to that
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: because there's no guarantees. Because that's why people go to banks,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: That's why they go to these different companies because eight
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: to five, They know their medical they know their vacation day.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: How does that? How does that allow you guys? Being
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: the power couple. I kinda keep bringing it back. How
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: does that allow you when those because they're down moments,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, their injury moments, the moments. Okay,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: am I going to play another season? Am I gonna
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: get registrations? Or is this show going to do anything
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: for my career or hurt my career? How do you
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: deal with that? Care? I mean it's a lot, but
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I feel like that's life. You're gonna have ups and downs.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: And you know, for us, being that we are a
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: power couple, we just were there for one another, you
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: know what I mean, through the ups the downs. Were
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: there to push each other, encourage each other. You know,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: if I'm having a down day, he's there to carry
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: me on his back to you know, so we make
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: it on the open up. And I think that's what's
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: important as a power couple. You know, just in businesses
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: generals that you have, you know, a support system. Right, Okay,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: let's let's talk about this dance studio. Okay, so you
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: started when you were twenty, Okay, your sister was in
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: high school. What's the goal because now it's for boys
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: and girls. Yes, okay, just started the boys side of it,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So why did you start
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: a boy side of it? And what's the goal of
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: creating academy? When I say go talking about registration wise,
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: how long are the classes and things like that, Well,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: we started age to go all the way to age eighteen. Um.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: So we've always actually been open to boys, but the
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: market is just not as strong for male dancers. I
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: think there's a lot of stigma there. They kind of
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: look at it and it's like, oh, that's a girly thing. Yeah.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Well yeah, I think you know, within the last probably
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: about eight years or so, it's become really mainstream and popular,
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: um because you had shows like so you Think and
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Dance America's Best Dance Crew, and you you saw a
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: lot of those man you saw that male presence a
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: little bit more um, and it was a little bit
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: more masculine. I think that's another thing that people kind
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: of into towards them a little bit. UM. So definitely
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: we were open to you know, everybody and everything, but um,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: we definitely have a really high group of boys right now. Um,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: they're really strong hip hop dancers. But we offer everything ballet, tap, jazz,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: hip hop, and for us, we're just looking to just
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: grow the studio as a whole, you know. Um Again,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: our goal is to reach as many children as possible.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: I'm sorry glam hair, um, but yeah, our goal is
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: just to you know, grow, grow the studio, grow the town, agency,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: to reach as many I like to talk. I love
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: to talk. I love for the phase right on. Every
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: time she talked, she'd be blocked. That what it is is,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: every time I sit back from the mic, they're always like,
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: we can't hear you. We got your cover girls, don't
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: we were high profile? This ain't no you know, amateur ranging,
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Mike go, I can get you in the hallway. Here's
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: the thing about wags, Wives and Girlfriends of Atlanta. Okay, okay,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: so I got I gotta be rishaw. Okay. So I
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: see the pretty pictures of these women here and stuff
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: like that, and I gotta say, you are amazing, thank
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: you so much. I did not expect all this, you know,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: when you introduce yourself in the green room. Okay, when
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I saw they are a little bit different now after
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: I did my background. Sorry, I was just excited me
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: ahead with texting that takes it back, text back, I
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: need this, you do I even need I need to
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: think BYO. And so so, how did you guys avoid
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: that stigma, because this is a stigma of saying that
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: you you're just pretty faced, you just a sexy football player,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: because that's what were sold to the general public. But
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: we know that's that's a deeper conversation within the household
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: to take this opportunity and build your brands to another
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: legal because I know that's the goal. Y'all too smart
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: for that. Absolutely, I'll say it's um my, my perspective.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: I think it's more so a mindset and um the
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: way you think and the way you present yourself. And
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: that has a lot to do with it because a
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: lot of people like I said, like remember we came
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: in football player. I stopped everybody and tell them. I
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: let them know right there, listen this this I'm not
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: the normal guy. I'm ad normal because you look at
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: the grates and this in our life and history, they
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: was weird and not normal. So I'm put I put
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: myself in those and that's the beauty of the foundation
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: going on that. Okay, he said, you know, dude, you
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: know that that means you dumped right into it. As
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: soon as you've got a little cash flow, you was
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: investing in the community. Because so you have you have kids.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: You have kids that live in Atlanta and never even
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: been to Georgia Tech. And it's right down the street.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: So we one of the things we do we take
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: kids on college tours to to get on that avenue.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Would allow them to to be able to see different
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: things that they're not they don't get to see on
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: a daily basis. We have a career goals, a seminar
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: for the kids. We have a big Christmas event for
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: the kids. We have a foundation building where we have
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: about thirty computers. They can come get tutored from different
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: teachers and whatnot. So we try to help those kids, Uh,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: give them an avenue to have it out because I
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: always tell people that I asked a lot of kids
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: what's the definition of poverty, and a lot of them
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: say dollars and cents, right, And it's a mindset, and
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: into your mindset changes, your circumstances would never change. Oh look,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: he just articulated on that little kid the hand of
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: the class. Now are you doing you have sponsors tied
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: to your founday, Yeah, we have some. Okay, cool, Well
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw you some more your way, thank you,
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: because what you're doing in Atlanta, I got some connections here.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna let them know about you. Yes, sir, you
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: know what what's your brother doing right now? Right now?
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: He's over in Europe right now, he's in Turkey playing.
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: So I'm gonna try to get over there and march
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: around his birthday to check him out. But he played
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: in the NBA eight seasons. But I think we was
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: only the six NFL NBA um to pair up and
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: play professionally brothers ever. Uh so that's a blessing. But
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: like I said, man, I get a credit to my
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: parents because they gave us that foundation, and you give
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: you credit to your absolutely my mother, I mean my
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: mom and my dad. But my mom was that driving force. Um,
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: my mom and dad are both together they man. But
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: see that's another thing. My parents been married thirty six
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: years her parents how long your parents been married? A
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: long time? Something you don't find that often no more?
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Well, let's because I got
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, honestly, I'm a fan of you
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: guys as a couple. You know, you know, good friends
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: of Mike Kenny Smith and Gwen lind Smith. I had
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: them on a radio, fell in love with them. They
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: got they would have a production there with I t
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: V in Los Angeles if we go to some projects together.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: And you know when they left my show that they
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: felt they were inspired because of what I saw, you
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: saw in them, I seeing you guys. You know, he's
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: just a younger version. And I'm just letting you know
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: that God just giving you some cool opportunities. My role
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: in your guy's life, it's to help you take advantage
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: of it. Um Like, I offer myself as a friend,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: offer myself as a mentor to let you guys know
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: this is what I've been put on earth to do.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: I will become the voice of the millennial generation. I
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: will become Uncle RuSHA to the generational a t V
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: three or four. So let me just let you know
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: that when you walk out that door, hold me accountable,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: because I'm a whole You account because I'm telling you
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: that you guys are special. You you blow me away
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: with this with this relationship. You're it's fun, it's it's lovable.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: It's que and there's nothing wrong with you and a
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: loving relationship. So thank you for coming on my show.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Thank you for having blessing. We appreciate it. I'm holding
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: to their hair, her name, my name. I'll see you'll
