- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It's Verdict with Centater, Ted Cruz Weekend Review, Ben Ferguson
- 0:05Speaker 2: with you and I hope you had a fabulous time
- 0:08Speaker 2: with your family over Thanksgiving. Now Here are some of
- 0:11Speaker 2: the stories that you may have missed this week that
- 0:13Speaker 2: we talked about. First, up, China flooding, TikTok with Osama
- 0:19Speaker 2: Bin laden propaganda, getting young people to read his letter
- 0:23Speaker 2: to America and then advocate for Osama Bin Lauden's viewpoint,
- 0:28Speaker 2: how are we allowing this to happen in this country
- 0:31Speaker 2: and around the world. We're going to dive into that
- 0:34Speaker 2: and what this means with China trying to control the
- 0:37Speaker 2: minds of young people all over the world. Up next, infrastructure.
- 0:42Speaker 2: If you ask voters, it's something they're all in favor
- 0:45Speaker 2: of better roads. But what happens when the roads turn
- 0:49Speaker 2: into woke agenda items. Well, billions and billions of your
- 0:54Speaker 2: tax dollars that were meant for infrastructure projects are now
- 0:58Speaker 2: tied to woke initiative and we'll expose that. And finally,
- 1:03Speaker 2: education is changing in this country, and that education that
- 1:07Speaker 2: has nothing to do with reading, writing, and arithmetic may
- 1:11Speaker 2: be changing this nation forever. The center will break down
- 1:15Speaker 2: that warning for you as well. It's the Week in
- 1:18Speaker 2: Review and it starts right now. This goes into something
- 1:22Speaker 2: else that I have to bring up, and it's something
- 1:23Speaker 2: that we've seen on TikTok. Now, if you don't know
- 1:25Speaker 2: what TikTok is, we've talked about this before, quick recap.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's an app that a ton of people use, especially
- 1:32Speaker 2: young people, especially young people, and China uses it to
- 1:35Speaker 2: influence young people. Specifically, we saw an unbelievable uptick on TikTok.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And there's data to back this up of pro Hamas videos,
- 1:47Speaker 2: pro Hamas propaganda, anti Israel propaganda, pro Palestinian propaganda.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Harvard Pole Audi Harvard Pole recently came out that said
- 1:56Speaker 3: of Americans eighteen to twenty four, fifty one percent believe
- 2:01Speaker 3: that Hamas's atrocities could be justified, fifty one percent more
- 2:05Speaker 3: than half of young people. And TikTok is affirmatively pushing
- 2:09Speaker 3: this Prohamas propaganda, this garbage to young people, and it
- 2:15Speaker 3: has an enormous negative influence. And I want to put
- 2:18Speaker 3: on now one video from TikTok that went viral this
- 2:21Speaker 3: week that shows just how.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Cancerous and it deals with Osama bin Laden so if
- 2:26Speaker 2: you understand the context of this, there was and this
- 2:29Speaker 2: clearly is propaganda to meant to influence. And there is
- 2:33Speaker 2: a letter that Osama bin Laden had put out before
- 2:36Speaker 2: it was I guess technically right before nine to eleven,
- 2:38Speaker 2: or justifying the nine to eleven attacks and explaining his
- 2:41Speaker 2: thoughts on why he was doing nine to eleven. This letter,
- 2:46Speaker 2: decades later has has gone viral only on TikTok. Go
- 2:50Speaker 2: back to propaganda of China to influence young people to
- 2:53Speaker 2: believe that somehow Osama bin Lauden was justified in his
- 2:58Speaker 2: nine to eleven attack the same way that they're justifying
- 3:01Speaker 2: Hamas's attack on Israel. And this is what Americans are
- 3:07Speaker 2: saying about reading this letter for the first time on TikTok.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Look, so it starts with a woman me when I
- 3:14Speaker 3: got the news in twenty eleven that we got him,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and she's celebrating. Then twenty twenty three reading his letter
- 3:19Speaker 3: to America knowing he was right.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh something, lad, that's what they're talking about.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Actually, before you even read the letter, I did want
- 3:25Speaker 4: to mention in reading the letter, I could only think
- 3:28Speaker 4: of this tweet that I saw the other day under
- 3:30Speaker 4: settler colonialism, any kind of resistance is branded as terrorist
- 3:34Speaker 4: because the only acceptable violence is violenced by the occupier.
- 3:37Speaker 4: So please keep that in mind when reading the Another young.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Person, we really need to stop pan taxes because they
- 3:45Speaker 5: ain't doing nothing but messing up everybody else. And America
- 3:48Speaker 5: is the bully. And it's sad because they have brainwashed
- 3:52Speaker 5: us to think that we was the best country in
- 3:54Speaker 5: the plant on the planet, when in reality we're the
- 3:57Speaker 5: worst country in the planet.
- 3:58Speaker 6: It is just insane because this letter is so well
- 4:03Speaker 6: written and so reasonably structured in an argument, like you
- 4:08Speaker 6: got to present your findings. You gotta you know, you
- 4:12Speaker 6: gotta state your cause all that, Like everything he said
- 4:16Speaker 6: was valid.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Everything Osama bin Laden said was valid. The guy before
- 4:23Speaker 2: saying we need to stop paying taxes because Osama bin
- 4:26Speaker 2: Laden was right.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And where the worst country.
- 4:29Speaker 2: In the world hashtag free Palestine. It's at the bottom.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I don't know if you noticed that.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Look, look, this is all of these are young people.
- 4:37Speaker 1: This is on TikTok.
- 4:40Speaker 3: These young people are profoundly ignorant. They don't know anything,
- 4:44Speaker 3: but they're also TikTok is deliberately curated. The algorithm is controlled.
- 4:52Speaker 3: The recommendation algorithm is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mentioned the last classified briefing I went to this week,
- 4:59Speaker 3: ben So.
- 5:00Speaker 1: The topic of it.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Was social media and disinformation, and so included a number
- 5:05Speaker 3: of folks from the government. This was a joint classified
- 5:10Speaker 3: briefing with the Commerce Committee where I'm the ranking Republican
- 5:14Speaker 3: and the Intelligence Committee. So we met together, and I
- 5:17Speaker 3: can't tell you what they said, but I can't tell
- 5:20Speaker 3: you the questions I asked because the questions I asked
- 5:22Speaker 3: are not classified. And the question I asked, I said,
- 5:25Speaker 3: what evidence do we have specifically that TikTok is affirmatively
- 5:29Speaker 3: and deliberately pushing pro Hamas propaganda. We know that young
- 5:35Speaker 3: people are moving dramatically in the direction of Hamas and
- 5:43Speaker 3: to what extent is the CCP affirmatively doing that? And
- 5:46Speaker 3: I'll tell you something again. I can't give you their answers,
- 5:48Speaker 3: but I will tell you a data point, which is
- 5:51Speaker 3: TikTok defends itself by saying it keeps us customer data
- 5:55Speaker 3: here in the United States, not in China, although under
- 5:58Speaker 3: its terms of service the CCP has a right to
- 6:00Speaker 3: access them at any time. You know what it doesn't
- 6:04Speaker 3: keep here in the United States, it's recommendation algorithm. So
- 6:09Speaker 3: the way TikTok operates, you're looking at TikTok, you watch
- 6:12Speaker 3: a video, and then it suggests to you, hey, Ben,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you would like this video.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Based on what you've seen before. So if you're looking
- 6:19Speaker 2: at golf videos or tennis videos or football videos, you
- 6:22Speaker 2: would assume they would keep you in the same type
- 6:24Speaker 2: of algorithm.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Well, a recommendation algorithm is one of the most potent
- 6:30Speaker 3: tools social media has to drive content, to suppress content,
- 6:34Speaker 3: or to drive content, And if you're engaged in propaganda,
- 6:37Speaker 3: the recommendation algorithm is your most potent tool for it.
- 6:42Speaker 3: The recommendation algorithm is not housed in the United States,
- 6:46Speaker 3: It's housed in China, and China just recently passed a
- 6:48Speaker 3: law that defined TikTok's recommendation algorithm as a quote.
- 6:55Speaker 1: National asset makes sense.
- 6:58Speaker 3: It is an asset of China, and they have developed
- 7:01Speaker 3: a global propaganda tool that in particular targets American young people.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And so they can decide on any given day, what
- 7:09Speaker 3: message do we want to put to young people. They
- 7:12Speaker 3: can just on a Tuesday say let's just push messages
- 7:16Speaker 3: that hurt American young people. So let's push to young
- 7:20Speaker 3: girls and teenage girls body image problems and push anorexia
- 7:24Speaker 3: and eating disorders, and let's push self harm, let's push cutting,
- 7:27Speaker 3: let's push suicide, let's push drug use, let's push all
- 7:31Speaker 3: sorts of things that will just hurt young people. And
- 7:34Speaker 3: they do that tragically every day. But they can also
- 7:38Speaker 3: decide politically, Okay, we don't want the United States exploring
- 7:42Speaker 3: for oil and gas, so let's push Green New Deal
- 7:45Speaker 3: garbage to tell them, go stop fracking, go stop this,
- 7:48Speaker 3: go stop this. Be dependent on Iran, be dependent on Russia,
- 7:52Speaker 3: be dependent on Venezuela, be dependent on our enemies for
- 7:55Speaker 3: oil and gas. They can push that message to young people,
- 7:58Speaker 3: or if they just want to push pro hamas propaganda,
- 8:04Speaker 3: they can. In this instance, you have young people.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And this went viral to a level of millions and
- 8:09Speaker 2: millions and millions of millions of impressions.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Over fourteen million last I saw.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's just people that were posting their own
- 8:16Speaker 2: videos after reading this letter that came out of nowhere
- 8:20Speaker 2: from two thousand and one from Osama bin Laden, and
- 8:23Speaker 2: the majority of it was all positive towards Usama.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Can you got to understand why I mean, this is something.
- 8:29Speaker 3: As you know, I'm at the tail end of a
- 8:32Speaker 3: two week book tour, so I've been I think I've
- 8:34Speaker 3: done seventy seven media interviews in the last two weeks
- 8:38Speaker 3: on the new book on Woke. I've been talking about
- 8:40Speaker 3: this a lot because particularly people of the left are
- 8:44Speaker 3: confused why is there such vicious anti semitism among the left?
- 8:51Speaker 3: And I want to let's let's pull this up again.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I want to pull it up and freeze at midway
- 8:54Speaker 3: through because it really does explain it profoundly. Okay, so
- 9:01Speaker 3: this is the first woman on the second person. Just
- 9:03Speaker 3: freeze it when the second person comes up. Okay, freeze
- 9:07Speaker 3: it right here.
- 9:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So this is a TikToker and it's kind of a
- 9:12Speaker 3: young hipster wearing like, I don't know, a shower cap
- 9:15Speaker 3: of some kind with pearl stuff.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I don't know. But this is important.
- 9:22Speaker 3: So I've been explaining and the book Unwoke explains this
- 9:26Speaker 3: at depth. So Marxism is the doctrine enunciated by Karl
- 9:31Speaker 3: Marx and the Communist Manifesto that explains views the world
- 9:35Speaker 3: as a fundamental conflict between oppressors and victims. Marx put
- 9:39Speaker 3: it in socioeconomic terms, So the oppressors were the owners
- 9:41Speaker 3: of capital, the victims were the proletariat, the working men
- 9:45Speaker 3: and women. The solution Marks advocated was violent revolution by
- 9:50Speaker 3: the proletariat overthrowing the oppressors. I describe in the book
- 9:57Speaker 3: Unwoke how Marxist infiltrated the universities in the nineteen sixties
- 10:02Speaker 3: and seventies, and then that doctrine mutated. It mutated to
- 10:05Speaker 3: critical race theory, which has the same basic frame, the
- 10:09Speaker 3: Marxist frame of a pressor and victim, but instead of
- 10:12Speaker 3: socioeconomic it's race. So there are presser races and victim races.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I describe how it mutated to be gender and gender
- 10:20Speaker 3: identity and sexual orientation, same idea of a pressor and victim,
- 10:24Speaker 3: and the idea is violence revolution. Anything is justified if
- 10:29Speaker 3: it is the victim overthrowing the oppressor. Now, this TikTok video,
- 10:33Speaker 3: the text of the tweet he has says, under settler colonialism,
- 10:40Speaker 3: any kind of resistance is branded as terrorism because the
- 10:45Speaker 3: only acceptable violence is violenced by the occupier. That is
- 10:50Speaker 3: straight up Marxism. And it is explaining why, as I
- 10:54Speaker 3: told this left leaning tech executive, the reason the left
- 10:58Speaker 3: is celebrating Hamas. Is they have defined Jews as oppressors,
- 11:05Speaker 3: they have defined Hamas as victims, and so they're in
- 11:09Speaker 3: favor of violence by the victims against the impressors. And
- 11:13Speaker 3: that includes mass murder. That includes targeting civilians. That includes
- 11:17Speaker 3: murdering elderly people. That includes raping women and little girls
- 11:21Speaker 3: in the public streets, that includes slaughtering infants. That includes,
- 11:25Speaker 3: as we discussed, literally putting a baby in an oven, yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 3: and raping that baby's mother while the baby cooks to
- 11:40Speaker 3: death and the mother is being raped and listening to
- 11:46Speaker 3: her infant die in an oven, being cooked to death. Now,
- 11:51Speaker 3: that is unmitigated evil. That is Nazi like. That is
- 11:55Speaker 3: a level of grotesque evil that.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Defies words.
- 12:00Speaker 3: And yet to the cultural Marxist and to these young
- 12:05Speaker 3: idealistic imbeciles, they're cheering for the terrorist. Why because it
- 12:11Speaker 3: says here, well, under settler colonialism, and mind you, in
- 12:13Speaker 3: their mind it's the Jews that are the bad settler colonialists.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Any kind of resistance, so you know, baking a baby
- 12:22Speaker 3: in and oven, that's a kind of resistance is branded
- 12:26Speaker 3: as terrorist. Well, no, terrorism is targeting civilians. I've got
- 12:30Speaker 3: to say slaughtering infants qualifies as terrorism because the only
- 12:34Speaker 3: acceptable violence is violence by the occupier. The reason these
- 12:40Speaker 3: young people are so susceptible to this TikTok propaganda is
- 12:45Speaker 3: because cultural Marxism has been taught to them from the womb.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Has been taught to them in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth,
- 12:54Speaker 3: fifth grade, all the way through school, has been taught
- 12:56Speaker 3: to them in college, has been taught to them through
- 12:59Speaker 3: social media, has been taught to them through entertainment. They're told,
- 13:03Speaker 3: once we say someone is the victim and someone is
- 13:06Speaker 3: the oppressor, we cheer for violence, for any horrible evil
- 13:12Speaker 3: against the oppressor, because that's the Marxist revolution we support.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 13:19Speaker 2: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 13:22Speaker 2: from earlier this week. Now onto story number two, Biden's
- 13:27Speaker 2: infrastructure spending has now gone woke. It's a great moment
- 13:32Speaker 2: to pause and remind people. If you're Black Friday shopping,
- 13:35Speaker 2: grab the Center's new book, Unwoke. You can grab it.
- 13:39Speaker 2: It's a best seller. You can get on Amazon or
- 13:40Speaker 2: wherever you get your books, unless you're at a bookstore
- 13:43Speaker 2: in California apparently they don't like it very much out
- 13:45Speaker 2: there in California in the bookstores, but you can grab
- 13:47Speaker 2: it wherever you get your books. I love this part
- 13:50Speaker 2: of censorship. By the way, center, there are quite a
- 13:53Speaker 2: few bookstores. I've actually talked to friends who have gone
- 13:56Speaker 2: into bookstores. Your book's a bestseller, and if you're on
- 13:59Speaker 2: the wrong part of the country, in a more liberal,
- 14:01Speaker 2: woke part of the country, there's a very good chance
- 14:03Speaker 2: you cannot find a hard copy of your book in
- 14:05Speaker 2: a bookstore, which is maddening to me, especially since it
- 14:09Speaker 2: is a bestseller.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Well, it is one of the many examples how corporate
- 14:13Speaker 3: America is woke.
- 14:15Speaker 1: As you know.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Two weeks ago, I was in LA to shoot Bill
- 14:19Speaker 3: Maher and talk about the book, and I actually met
- 14:22Speaker 3: some friends in LA who went to try to buy
- 14:24Speaker 3: the book. And they went to a Barnes and Noble
- 14:26Speaker 3: in LA and they didn't have a single copy of
- 14:29Speaker 3: the book there, and they asked them, okay, search the system,
- 14:32Speaker 3: and they it turned out there was not one copy
- 14:35Speaker 3: of my book. This is what they were told in
- 14:38Speaker 3: any Barnes and Noble in the entire city of Los Angeles.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And they had to actually drive the Long Beach, which
- 14:45Speaker 3: they did to get several copies of the books, because
- 14:48Speaker 3: it was only the Barnes and Noble in Long Beach
- 14:50Speaker 3: that had the copies, and throughout LA they weren't there. Sadly,
- 14:54Speaker 3: we're hearing we're hearing reports of that. There was also
- 14:57Speaker 3: a letter to the editor this past week in the
- 15:01Speaker 3: Dallas Morning News complaining that the big box stores, which
- 15:04Speaker 3: have lots and lots of books of other books that
- 15:08Speaker 3: you can't find Unwoke, even though, as you noted, is
- 15:12Speaker 3: it is a best seller, was at the top of
- 15:13Speaker 3: the best seller list, and yet the major bricks and
- 15:17Speaker 3: mortar retail outlets are very reluctant to carry it. And
- 15:20Speaker 3: when they do carry it, they certainly don't put it
- 15:22Speaker 3: out on the table in front. They put it off
- 15:24Speaker 3: in the back. The good news is you can order
- 15:26Speaker 3: it online, so I would encourage you go online and
- 15:29Speaker 3: order it. And you mentioned what came out this past week,
- 15:34Speaker 3: and what came out this past week also is is
- 15:38Speaker 3: racist roads and woke infrastructure, which may sound absurd, but
- 15:42Speaker 3: it's something I discuss at considerable length in the book Unwoke,
- 15:47Speaker 3: and in June, Transportation Secretary Pete Bootage edge announced that
- 15:53Speaker 3: the Department of Transportation it started accepting applications for the
- 15:57Speaker 3: National Infrastructure Project Assistance, Infrastructure for Rebuilding America, and the
- 16:04Speaker 3: Rural Surface Transportation Grant programs. These three programs together received
- 16:11Speaker 3: five point six billion dollars under the so called Infrastructure
- 16:16Speaker 3: Investment and Jobs Act, and the Department of Transportation.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Under bootage Edge.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Said the grants that would be awarded would support quote
- 16:26Speaker 3: transformational infrastructure projects across the nation. But the Notice of
- 16:31Speaker 3: funding Opportunity issued states that recipients must broadly address quote
- 16:39Speaker 3: equity and climate concerns. And further, it says, quote projects
- 16:46Speaker 3: that have not sufficiently considered the equity and barriers to
- 16:48Speaker 3: opportunity in their planning as determined by the Department, will
- 16:53Speaker 3: be required to do so before receiving funds for construction.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Quote projects that have not sufficiently considered climate change and
- 17:02Speaker 3: environmental justice in their planning as determined by the Department,
- 17:06Speaker 3: will be required to do so before receiving funds for construction. Now,
- 17:10Speaker 3: mind you, what they're saying is if you're actually building roads,
- 17:14Speaker 3: if you're actually building freeways, then that is not sufficient.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And in fact, Pete buddhage Edge made news in twenty
- 17:23Speaker 3: twenty one when he said, quote there is racism physically
- 17:28Speaker 3: built into some of our highways. Now, now that is idiotic.
- 17:33Speaker 3: And I would note that the DOT grants also additionally
- 17:40Speaker 3: target so DOT policies frame road building. Here's what they
- 17:44Speaker 3: call roadbuilding, quote increasing automobile dependence. And so they condemn
- 17:52Speaker 3: highway expansion projects that don't involve electric vehicle charging stations
- 17:57Speaker 3: or bike lane. So it is Remember there was a
- 17:59Speaker 3: lot of hooplaw over all the money to be spent
- 18:02Speaker 3: on infrastructure and roads and bridges.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Well, it.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Turns out Joe Biden and Kamala Harrison Pete boodhah Edge
- 18:08Speaker 3: don't actually want roads and bridges. Instead, they have a
- 18:11Speaker 3: woke agenda to Here's the good news, which is that
- 18:14Speaker 3: that I sent I sent a request for a determination
- 18:21Speaker 3: as to whether this announcement constitutes a rule and receive
- 18:30Speaker 3: that determination, which means that it is subject to being
- 18:36Speaker 3: overturned by Congress by a simple majority vote. And so
- 18:41Speaker 3: I intend to introduce that resolution of disapproval to force
- 18:46Speaker 3: a vote in the Senate. Now Biden can veto that vote,
- 18:50Speaker 3: but in the Senate, we're going to see if all
- 18:53Speaker 3: the people who trumpeted the infrastructure programs support blocking them
- 18:57Speaker 3: from going to roads and bridges on us they are
- 19:00Speaker 3: sufficiently woke and fighting racist roads, whatever the hell that is.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, when people hear this and they hear racist roads
- 19:09Speaker 2: as you just described it there, and you talk about
- 19:12Speaker 2: billions upon billions of taxpayers dollars that's meant for these
- 19:15Speaker 2: infrastructure projects that are now just being turned in these
- 19:19Speaker 2: woken agenda items. How many members of Congress are behind
- 19:24Speaker 2: this as well, because yes, it's a Biden administration initiative,
- 19:28Speaker 2: but you still got to have some congress people behind you.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Is this just the part of now where we are
- 19:34Speaker 2: in politics where they look at you, they'll say this
- 19:37Speaker 2: is for infrastructure, straight up lie to you, and then
- 19:39Speaker 2: waste billions of your dollars on woke agenda items like this.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Well, listen, a lot of the left wing Democrats in
- 19:45Speaker 3: Congress are emphatically behind this, so that Bernie Sanders, the
- 19:49Speaker 3: Elizabeth Warrens, THEOCS are cheering this on because this is
- 19:53Speaker 3: the agenda they want. I will say, there are a
- 19:56Speaker 3: number of Republicans who you know, are little bit like
- 20:00Speaker 3: Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football. They listen to
- 20:03Speaker 3: Democrats to say, okay, let's work together on something like
- 20:06Speaker 3: roads and bridges. And the Republicans are like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 3: roads and bridges. Those sound really good, and they write
- 20:11Speaker 3: into law funding for roads and bridges. Now, the left
- 20:16Speaker 3: wing Democrats they're negotiating with know fully well, they're pulling
- 20:19Speaker 3: the football away and Charlie Brown is landing on his ass.
- 20:22Speaker 1: They know that.
- 20:24Speaker 3: But these Republicans are just gullible and they fall into
- 20:27Speaker 3: it over and over and over again. And if they
- 20:29Speaker 3: weren't gullible, they would have written into the statute prohibitions
- 20:34Speaker 3: on the Biden administration doing this because you and I
- 20:36Speaker 3: knew the Biden administration was going to do this, because
- 20:39Speaker 3: that's who they are. They are cultural Marxist. It's why
- 20:44Speaker 3: I wrote the book Unwoke to lay out what it
- 20:47Speaker 3: means the radicals who have taken over our government. And
- 20:51Speaker 3: we have too many Republicans in Congress who are fundamentally naive,
- 20:56Speaker 3: and they just keep running and trying to kick that football,
- 20:59Speaker 3: and the problem getting worse and worse as before.
- 21:02Speaker 2: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation
- 21:04Speaker 2: on this topic, you can go back and down the
- 21:07Speaker 2: podcast from earlier this week to hear the entire thing.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I want to get back to the big story number
- 21:13Speaker 2: three of the week.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You may have missed.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You mentioned education and how it's easiest way to change
- 21:20Speaker 2: a country in one generation. But there was also one
- 21:23Speaker 2: of the things you said on page sixty four. It
- 21:25Speaker 2: says how to fight back, he said. A few years ago,
- 21:27Speaker 2: you walked into your daughter's bedroom and asked what she'd
- 21:31Speaker 2: been learning about in school. She said she had been
- 21:33Speaker 2: learning about Christopher Columbus, the quote unquote real story. I
- 21:37Speaker 2: asked what that meant. For the next few minutes, I
- 21:39Speaker 2: heard about the crimes of Christopher Columbus in minute detail.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Every murdered Native American, transmitted disease, and stolen acre of
- 21:48Speaker 2: lamb seemed to be accounted for. I heard that Columbus,
- 21:51Speaker 2: who claimed the land for himself because his straight white
- 21:55Speaker 2: privilege or something like that, had not actually discovered anything
- 21:58Speaker 2: at all, but rather had landed on the shores of
- 22:02Speaker 2: what would come to be known as America by accident.
- 22:06Speaker 2: This quote unquote revolution, familiar to most adults in the
- 22:10Speaker 2: United States, is something that American children encounter sooner or
- 22:13Speaker 2: later in a textbook. Believing that they've accessed some secret,
- 22:18Speaker 2: hidden knowledge that the grown ups don't want them to have.
- 22:23Speaker 2: That moment, for me is the moment that terrifies me
- 22:25Speaker 2: for our kids in this my kids generation, is that
- 22:29Speaker 2: we have handed our children over to this school systems.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And it's not just public schools now, it's private schools
- 22:35Speaker 2: as well, who are indoctrinating them in this idea that
- 22:38Speaker 2: America somehow was started on evil, bad motives and that
- 22:44Speaker 2: you should not love this country, but you should be
- 22:47Speaker 2: ashamed of this country. And you had to deal with
- 22:49Speaker 2: this with your own daughter.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Look, that's exactly right.
- 22:52Speaker 3: And the problem is this indoctrination is happening in every
- 22:55Speaker 3: school in America. It's happening to every child in America.
- 22:58Speaker 3: And one I describe part of the way that this
- 23:00Speaker 3: book is all about how we fight back. But you know,
- 23:02Speaker 3: as she was saying that Columbus was evil and racist
- 23:06Speaker 3: and genocidal and terrible, and she hated Christopher Columbus, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 3: I just just sat down in her bedroom and I
- 23:12Speaker 3: tried to have a conversation with her, and I said, look,
- 23:15Speaker 3: I'm not deeply vested in making the argument that Christopher
- 23:18Speaker 3: Columbus was some incredible hero. But I said, you know what,
- 23:23Speaker 3: we do have a federal holiday named after him. Do
- 23:27Speaker 3: we typically name federal holidays after evil, racist, genocidal maniacs?
- 23:34Speaker 3: Like might there be another side of the story? Is
- 23:38Speaker 3: there anything admirable about them? And she was not really
- 23:41Speaker 3: able to see much that was admirble. I said, well,
- 23:44Speaker 3: what do you think about getting in three rook rickety
- 23:47Speaker 3: wooden ships and leaving Europe and heading heading west when
- 23:53Speaker 3: you think you're falling off the edge of the world
- 23:56Speaker 3: to explore and discover I mean, I mean, is that spirit,
- 23:59Speaker 3: that intrepid spirit? Is that anything to be admired? And
- 24:03Speaker 3: and And I said, secondly, look, it is true that
- 24:07Speaker 3: Columbus and and and the man who traveled with him,
- 24:10Speaker 3: that that that they carried some some germs that that
- 24:13Speaker 3: that were that were new to to the to the
- 24:17Speaker 3: western hemisphere, and that when they got here some of
- 24:19Speaker 3: the some of the Native Americans died from those germs. Now,
- 24:23Speaker 3: it's also true it was the fifteenth century. They didn't
- 24:25Speaker 3: know what a germ was, so they didn't know they
- 24:27Speaker 3: were carrying it. And and when you accuse him of
- 24:30Speaker 3: mass murder, does culpability matter? Does the fact that they
- 24:34Speaker 3: didn't know what a germ was, They had no idea
- 24:36Speaker 3: they were doing it. Is that at all relevant if
- 24:39Speaker 3: you're going to call him this evil, terrible murder. And
- 24:41Speaker 3: when I talk about in the book is not long
- 24:44Speaker 3: thereafter Thanksgiving of that year, we were talking about Thanksgiving,
- 24:48Speaker 3: and she and a friend of hers from school and
- 24:49Speaker 3: this is when they were in grade school, said said, likewise,
- 24:52Speaker 3: oh Thanksgiving is is is terrible. It's when the pilgrims
- 24:55Speaker 3: were oppressing that the Native Americans. And and you know
- 24:59Speaker 3: again I I made the argument, I think even more
- 25:01Speaker 3: vigorously this time, and I said, listen, it is certainly
- 25:06Speaker 3: right that the settlers that came to America, that they
- 25:09Speaker 3: settled America, and they ultimately conquered America, and they they
- 25:15Speaker 3: committed some terrible acts to Native Americans. But if you
- 25:19Speaker 3: look at the history of humanity in every continent, every
- 25:23Speaker 3: nation was acquired by conquest. And every time there's conquest,
- 25:28Speaker 3: you have one group of people who are conquering another
- 25:30Speaker 3: group of people. By the way, in the United States,
- 25:33Speaker 3: before we were the United States, the Native Americans, one
- 25:36Speaker 3: tribe conquered another conquered another conquered another. And you look
- 25:39Speaker 3: at Europe, you look at Asia. That's the history of humanity,
- 25:41Speaker 3: one group of people conquering another. And anytime you have conquest,
- 25:46Speaker 3: there are horrible things that happen. They're terrible things that
- 25:51Speaker 3: are done. But I said, look in any war, there
- 25:53Speaker 3: were atrocities on both sides. And you know, I asked,
- 25:56Speaker 3: I asked my daughter. I said, you know, from whence
- 25:59Speaker 3: do you think think the verb to scalp was derived?
- 26:04Speaker 3: The Native Americans did some horrible things to the settlers
- 26:08Speaker 3: who came here also, And the connection that I made
- 26:13Speaker 3: for her, and that I make in the book is
- 26:16Speaker 3: those two discussions are interlinked and intertwined. Which is for
- 26:21Speaker 3: all of the teachers and all of the professors and
- 26:24Speaker 3: all of the people advocating that Columbus was evil and
- 26:27Speaker 3: advocating that Thanksgiving is evil because the Pilgrims were stealing
- 26:30Speaker 3: from the Native Americans, it comes down to one antecedent question.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Was the settlement of the New World a good thing
- 26:40Speaker 3: or a bad thing? Was the formation of the United
- 26:43Speaker 3: States of America good or bad? And I'm not neutral
- 26:47Speaker 3: or ambivalent on that question. I think the United States
- 26:50Speaker 3: of America has been the greatest force for good of
- 26:53Speaker 3: any nation in the history of the world, that we
- 26:56Speaker 3: had produced more prosperity, more abundance. We have liberated more
- 27:00Speaker 3: prisoners and captives. We have shed our blood and treasure
- 27:04Speaker 3: and tears fighting tyranny more than any nation in the
- 27:08Speaker 3: history of the world. Do we have our flaws, yes,
- 27:11Speaker 3: of course. Do we have our problems, yes, of course.
- 27:14Speaker 3: But America, I believe, like Reagan said, is a shining
- 27:17Speaker 3: city on a hill. And I want to make a
- 27:18Speaker 3: special request of our Verdict listeners. You guys are incredible,
- 27:22Speaker 3: You guys are patriots. You guys give me hope and
- 27:26Speaker 3: optimism in America. I want to ask every one.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Of you please.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Today, when you finished listening to this podcast, most of
- 27:35Speaker 3: you are listening on your cell phones, click over to Amazon,
- 27:40Speaker 3: type in Unwoke, and buy the book.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Right now.
- 27:44Speaker 3: We have nearly a million unique listeners who listen to Verdict.
- 27:50Speaker 3: If every one of you goes online and buys the book,
- 27:54Speaker 3: it would soar to the very tops of the New
- 27:57Speaker 3: York Times bestseller list. That would drive them nuts. By
- 28:00Speaker 3: the way, and and I wrote this book for the
- 28:05Speaker 3: same reason, Ben, that you and I do this podcast.
- 28:08Speaker 3: It is right now eleven o three pm on Tuesday,
- 28:11Speaker 3: Night podcast will come out early Wednesday morning. Why am
- 28:14Speaker 3: I sitting here at eleven o three? Why are you
- 28:15Speaker 3: sitting here at eleven o three? Because we care about this.
- 28:18Speaker 3: We want we want our incredible listeners to be armed
- 28:22Speaker 3: with information and know how to fight to save this country.
- 28:26Speaker 3: And this book is exactly in the same spirit. The
- 28:30Speaker 3: book is I think, interesting and fun. It's not some
- 28:34Speaker 3: abstract academic treatise, but it's designed. When you read it,
- 28:38Speaker 3: you'll enjoy it. And by the way, I encourage you. Look,
- 28:41Speaker 3: if I can be immodest for a second, don't buy
- 28:44Speaker 3: just one. You know Christmas is coming up very soon.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Buy a copy for your mom, buy a copy for
- 28:50Speaker 3: your brother, buy a copy for your next door neighbor,
- 28:52Speaker 3: your best friend. Because the reason that I spend the
- 28:56Speaker 3: time to write these books, the reason that you and
- 28:58Speaker 3: I do this podcast, it is we either persuade and
- 29:03Speaker 3: win hearts and minds, or we lose America. That's what
- 29:07Speaker 3: the stakes are, and that's what this book is about.
- 29:09Speaker 3: It's the exact same thing the podcast is about.
- 29:12Speaker 2: As always, thank you for listening to Verdict with Sentner,
