- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:00Speaker 2: It is verdic with center, Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with
- 0:03Speaker 2: you as well, and it's nice to have you with
- 0:05Speaker 2: a senator. We got a one heck of a show
- 0:07Speaker 2: with a lot of behind the scenes action happening with
- 0:10Speaker 2: the luncheon you were in with a lot of other
- 0:12Speaker 2: senators and President Donald Trump.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Well, that's right. This week President Trump came to join
- 0:18Speaker 3: the Senate Republican lunch and he was in there for
- 0:21Speaker 3: the about a full hour, and it was a contentious lunch.
- 0:26Speaker 3: You know what what I said, uh to reporters afterwards.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I think that the adjective I used was spirited. Uh
- 0:34Speaker 3: and and to to to use another Washington euphemism, frank
- 0:40Speaker 3: and candid conversation occurred, uh and and the President was
- 0:46Speaker 3: very upset, in particular at four Republican senators that had
- 0:52Speaker 3: voted to use the War Powers Act UH to restrict
- 0:55Speaker 3: his authority in Iran to to launch military actions against Iran.
- 1:01Speaker 3: And he was extremely displeased with that vote, and it
- 1:07Speaker 3: then proceeded as a matter of policy. I don't repeat
- 1:12Speaker 3: what my colleagues have said, but at this point, it
- 1:15Speaker 3: has been universally reported that that the President and Bill Cassidy,
- 1:19Speaker 3: Senator from Louisiana, got into a screaming match and it
- 1:23Speaker 3: was as tense as anything I've ever seen. Cassidy himself
- 1:27Speaker 3: has confirmed that to the press afterwards. Now, obviously, President
- 1:32Speaker 3: Trump endorsed against Bill Cassidy in his primary in Louisiana
- 1:37Speaker 3: and defeated Bill, so he is not there that there's
- 1:41Speaker 3: a runoff in Louisiana. And Bill did not make the
- 1:45Speaker 3: top two. He was third in the race, and so
- 1:49Speaker 3: and Cassidy, in turn, had previously voted to convict President
- 1:53Speaker 3: Trump during the Trump impeachment, and so the President understandably
- 1:58Speaker 3: was not happy about the vote to convicted and impeachment,
- 2:00Speaker 3: and was not happy with bills vote to limit his
- 2:06Speaker 3: ability to defend this nation and launch military attacks against Iran.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know, that's interesting the part there.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And obviously you guys have these lunches, and I want
- 2:17Speaker 2: to be respectful of of of you and and and
- 2:20Speaker 2: others that are that are you know obviously in that meeting.
- 2:23Speaker 2: But I've got some questions just based on what's been
- 2:25Speaker 2: the media, and we're going to do that in a second.
- 2:26Speaker 2: But first I want to tell you about Patriot Mobile

- 3:35Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile, you're going to talk to a real person
- 3:38Speaker 2: right here.
- 3:38Speaker 1: In America.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So superior coverage, superior products, superior customer support.
- 3:43Speaker 1: That's why I switched to Patriot Mobile.

- 3:51Speaker 2: are going to get a free month of service with
- 3:53Speaker 2: a promo code verdict. Or you can call them nine
- 3:56Speaker 2: to seven to two Patriot. That's nine seven to Patriot,
- 4:02Speaker 2: nine to seven to two Patriot. Or call them and
- 4:06Speaker 2: go online at Patriot Mobile dot com slash verdict, promo
- 4:10Speaker 2: code verdict for a free month of service. Make the
- 4:12Speaker 2: switch and make a difference every time you pay your bill. So, Senator,
- 4:16Speaker 2: a lot of this has been reported on there's a
- 4:17Speaker 2: lot on X about this right now with Cassidy, were
- 4:21Speaker 2: you and were your colleagues kind of expecting that there
- 4:23Speaker 2: was going to be some sort of moment because sometimes
- 4:25Speaker 2: people telegraph beforehand, or were you and others taken just
- 4:29Speaker 2: kind of shocked by how that went?
- 4:30Speaker 3: Did the intensity of it look at look it probably
- 4:35Speaker 3: needed to be gotten out, but the intensity of it was,
- 4:41Speaker 3: you know, I'm reading what what Cassidy said. So, for example,
- 4:45Speaker 3: here's what the New York Post is reported. President Trump
- 4:48Speaker 3: and Senator Bill Cassidy got into a shouting match. During
- 4:50Speaker 3: a lunch meeting Wednesday over the US war with Iran,
- 4:55Speaker 3: GOP senators described Trump as being quote mad as a
- 4:58Speaker 3: murder hornet, raising his voice at Louisiana Republican Cassidy. And
- 5:03Speaker 3: this is Cassidy's public comments, so I'm happy to repeat those. Cassidy,
- 5:06Speaker 3: who later quipped that the talks went swimmingly, called the
- 5:11Speaker 3: President my brother several times during the heated exchange. Senate
- 5:15Speaker 3: GOP sources said the President spat back that Cassidy wasn't
- 5:18Speaker 3: his brother and told him to sit down. And here's
- 5:21Speaker 3: what Cassidy told reporters. Quote Trump did not particularly care
- 5:27Speaker 3: for my comments, raised his voice. I lost my temper.
- 5:31Speaker 3: It's the Irish in me. But again I matched his
- 5:34Speaker 3: tone and volume. And so it went back and forth.
- 5:36Speaker 3: And then he went on to say, so I sat
- 5:37Speaker 3: down and tried to de escalate. It was very intense.
- 5:42Speaker 3: But I'll tell you what, it had an interesting effect,
- 5:46Speaker 3: as intense as it was, because we had another vote
- 5:50Speaker 3: after that exchange on the war powers, and Cassidy switched
- 5:54Speaker 3: his vote. And there was also an exchange. Rand Paul
- 5:59Speaker 3: had voted was one of the four and end listen
- 6:01Speaker 3: the president in Rand have a friendship. He and Ran
- 6:06Speaker 3: disagree on a lot of issues, but the President likes Rand,
- 6:09Speaker 3: and so it was a very different exchange with Ran
- 6:11Speaker 3: than it was with Cassidy. And Rand did something which
- 6:14Speaker 3: I've never seen him do before, which is he voted
- 6:18Speaker 3: present rather than voting for the War Powers resolution, and
- 6:22Speaker 3: so those two votes change. And Ran put out a
- 6:25Speaker 3: statement explaining that he was doing that. But I respected
- 6:28Speaker 3: that Ran did that. In particular. Look the President's case,
- 6:31Speaker 3: and I thought it was quite reasonable. Is he said,
- 6:33Speaker 3: we're in the middle of negotiating with Iran, and while
- 6:36Speaker 3: we're negotiating with Iran, it comes over the TV that
- 6:40Speaker 3: the Senate has blocked me from being able to continue
- 6:45Speaker 3: with conduct conducting the war. And he said, you completely
- 6:49Speaker 3: undercut my ability to negotiate with Iran. And I think
- 6:52Speaker 3: the president that was a very understandable point and a
- 6:55Speaker 3: fair point, and it ended up moving those two votes.
- 7:04Speaker 2: When you're an average person listening right now, and there's
- 7:06Speaker 2: a lot of people listening that are in states where
- 7:09Speaker 2: these senators who have lost and others have said no,
- 7:12Speaker 2: did this. How frustrated should they be and is it
- 7:16Speaker 2: justifiable or is it just understand the politics of this moment.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Look, the politics of this moment are unique, and Donald
- 7:24Speaker 3: Trump is a black Swan event. There's nobody else in
- 7:29Speaker 3: public life. There is no other Donald Trump, and so
- 7:32Speaker 3: he will say things he is regularly. There are different
- 7:37Speaker 3: Senators that he disagrees with, and when he disagrees with you,
- 7:40Speaker 3: he can do it with both barrels. And you know,
- 7:45Speaker 3: I've been on the receiving end of that, but that
- 7:47Speaker 3: was a decade ago and when we were running against
- 7:49Speaker 3: each other, and to be fair, I've criticized him, he's
- 7:51Speaker 3: criticized me. Were now I'm now his strongest ally in
- 7:55Speaker 3: the Senate and we're very good friends now. But he
- 7:59Speaker 3: is willing to take the bark off someone and that
- 8:02Speaker 3: was certainly true in the Senate lunch this week.
- 8:05Speaker 4: All Right.
- 8:05Speaker 2: One of the reasons why I love doing the show
- 8:07Speaker 2: is we get to take you behind the scenes, especially
- 8:09Speaker 2: when there's big deals like this Republican lunch with Donald
- 8:12Speaker 2: Trump and Senator Cruise tickets behind the scenes about that,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I know, one of the big questions everyone listening right
- 8:17Speaker 2: now is going to ask Senator is all right?
- 8:19Speaker 1: Was a save act mentioned? And what was said?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Well, sure, the President urged the Senate to pass the
- 8:25Speaker 3: Save America Act, and I strongly agree with him on that.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I'm an original sponsor of the Save America Act. I've
- 8:31Speaker 3: been making the case to my colleagues for months that
- 8:34Speaker 3: we should do everything humanly possible to pass the Save
- 8:37Speaker 3: America Act. In particular, we should force the Democrats to
- 8:41Speaker 3: do a talking filibuster, to stand up and talk and
- 8:43Speaker 3: talk and talk, just like Jimmy Stewart did, and mister
- 8:47Speaker 3: Smith goes to Washington just like I did when I
- 8:51Speaker 3: filibustered for twenty one hours against Obamacare. And we should
- 8:55Speaker 3: keep the Senate in session and make them work and
- 8:57Speaker 3: make them fight. The President made that case vigorously. The
- 9:01Speaker 3: difficulty is there are several Republicans in the Senate who
- 9:04Speaker 3: oppose him on that, and so it ended up not
- 9:07Speaker 3: being a huge part of what was discussed. The President
- 9:12Speaker 3: talked about it for a few minutes and pressed his case,
- 9:14Speaker 3: and I very much agree with him on that, But
- 9:17Speaker 3: I would say ninety percent of the discussion was about Iran,
- 9:20Speaker 3: and in particular how mad he was at the war
- 9:23Speaker 3: powers vote.
- 9:24Speaker 5: That.
- 9:25Speaker 3: He felt that that vote had really undercut him, and
- 9:28Speaker 3: he was and then it blew up as we just
- 9:31Speaker 3: described where he and Cassidy really went at each other.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Senator, I want to go back to the filibuster you mentioned.
- 9:37Speaker 2: This has been talked about so much on TV. You
- 9:39Speaker 2: have a lot of allies that are advocating for what
- 9:42Speaker 2: you just talked about in the idea of having this
- 9:44Speaker 2: talking filibuster. You famously have done this before. But in
- 9:48Speaker 2: this scenario, would it look just like one man talking,
- 9:52Speaker 2: or with so many different allies that you have, they've
- 9:54Speaker 2: talked about this publicly, would it be multiple people asking questions?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Is that part of the reason why it's an intriguing idea.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Well, look, part of what you would do is the
- 10:03Speaker 3: Senate can keep itself in one legislative day for days,
- 10:08Speaker 3: for weeks, for months potentially. And there is a rule
- 10:13Speaker 3: in the Senate that is the two speech rule, which
- 10:16Speaker 3: is that a senator can't speak more than twice in
- 10:18Speaker 3: a single legislative day. And so the approach would be
- 10:21Speaker 3: to exhaust the Democrats, to make them talk, to make
- 10:24Speaker 3: them stand up there and keep talking and talking. They can,
- 10:28Speaker 3: people can ask questions, and if the senator speaking wants
- 10:32Speaker 3: to yield for a question, that they can. The challenge
- 10:35Speaker 3: of doing that is it would require the Republicans keeping
- 10:38Speaker 3: at least fifty of us nearby to be able to
- 10:42Speaker 3: produce a quorum, because one of the ways the Democrats
- 10:45Speaker 3: would fight us is they would suggest the absence of
- 10:47Speaker 3: a quorum. And as I said, we've got several Republican
- 10:51Speaker 3: senators who are resisting that.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's part of the reporting that's been interesting.
- 10:58Speaker 2: As you described it.
- 10:59Speaker 1: That's look. President knows how to count as well.
- 11:01Speaker 2: He also did, and there was a moment where he
- 11:04Speaker 2: came out after the meeting and he did say this
- 11:06Speaker 2: to the American people.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And I want to play it for you.
- 11:10Speaker 5: A great meeting, and we're very proud or party like
- 11:15Speaker 5: everybody really in the room. I don't like a few people,
- 11:18Speaker 5: but that's okay. I think you know who they are.
- 11:20Speaker 5: But we I'll give you. I'll give you that information someday.
- 11:24Speaker 5: But for the most part, we have a really well
- 11:26Speaker 5: unified party. And I said it very strongly. We have
- 11:30Speaker 5: the hottest country anywhere in the world, where the most
- 11:32Speaker 5: powerful were the smartest, we're the most respected. Two years ago,
- 11:36Speaker 5: we were laughing stock all over the world. We had
- 11:38Speaker 5: a terrible group of people, representatives, every leader. I just
- 11:43Speaker 5: left G seven, every leader, and we had a lot
- 11:45Speaker 5: of people in addition to G seven, is you okay?
- 11:48Speaker 5: Everyone said what we've done in a year and a
- 11:51Speaker 5: half is a miracle. We have the hottest country in
- 11:55Speaker 5: the world, and we want to keep it that way.
- 11:56Speaker 5: We have more factories being built right now that we
- 12:00Speaker 5: have at any point at any time in the history
- 12:03Speaker 5: of our country. And all of those factories are opening
- 12:05Speaker 5: up soon. It's all jobs, and our job numbers are incredible. Anyway,
- 12:10Speaker 5: I see that oil just broke the seventy dollars number.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Who would have thought that was going to happen. And
- 12:18Speaker 5: that's during the war. And Iran is being very nice.
- 12:21Speaker 5: They're agreeing to everything that I want and they have
- 12:24Speaker 5: to otherwise we just go back and do what we
- 12:27Speaker 5: have to do. Thank you very much.
- 12:29Speaker 2: By the way, the interesting part there in that is
- 12:31Speaker 2: the way he described Iran doing what he wants right
- 12:34Speaker 2: now and they're being quote very nice.
- 12:36Speaker 1: That's some breaking news.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Well, that's been very much what the President has been saying.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And I will say, listening to the President that news conference,
- 12:46Speaker 3: it reminds me this week. I was joking with Senator
- 12:51Speaker 3: Bernie Moreno. We were like, you know, boy, the president
- 12:53Speaker 3: got pretty hot under the collar, and I made a
- 12:56Speaker 3: wise crack. I said, you know, I think the President
- 12:59Speaker 3: must be Latino, because that was some Latin temper there.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And Bernie came back and he said, you know, you know,
- 13:05Speaker 3: I think you're right. And just like a Latin, you know,
- 13:08Speaker 3: he gets mad and then he's just fine like moments afterwards.
- 13:10Speaker 3: And you know, by the press conference, I mean, he
- 13:14Speaker 3: was pissed in that room, and then the press conference
- 13:16Speaker 3: he was rightly focusing on the unity we have, although
- 13:20Speaker 3: I wouldn't say there was a ton of unity in
- 13:22Speaker 3: that particular lunch, but the unity we have more broadly
- 13:27Speaker 3: and everything we're getting accomplished, and so I think that
- 13:29Speaker 3: was valuable.
- 13:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 13:31Speaker 3: It was also interesting on the Iran deal. He was
- 13:35Speaker 3: mad about the war powers vote, but he did not listen. Listen.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I've been quite public and vocal that I'm concerned that
- 13:44Speaker 3: the President is getting very bad advice on this deal.
- 13:49Speaker 3: And I think it is history is clear that giving
- 13:54Speaker 3: billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder
- 13:58Speaker 3: us is a very bad idea. Uh And and the
- 14:02Speaker 3: terms of the memorandum of understanding that that that jd
- 14:05Speaker 3: Vance negotiated say the United States, with regional partners, will
- 14:09Speaker 3: provide three hundred billion dollars to the Iyatola and the
- 14:14Speaker 3: Mullahs in Iran. And that I think is a really
- 14:18Speaker 3: bad idea. I don't think it is in US national
- 14:21Speaker 3: security interest. What was interesting about the lunch is is
- 14:25Speaker 3: President Trump is well aware of of of of my concerns,
- 14:29Speaker 3: and several other Republican senators have expressed concerns along those
- 14:33Speaker 3: same lines, and he didn't. He wasn't arguing with with those.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I think he's hearing those concerns. I'm glad he's hearing
- 14:39Speaker 3: those concerns because I think those who are giving him
- 14:45Speaker 3: the advice of sending billions of dollars to Iran, I
- 14:48Speaker 3: think are giving him poor advice. And and that was
- 14:52Speaker 3: not a major topic of the discussion at the lunch.
- 14:55Speaker 2: All right, I want to take a moment. I want
- 14:56Speaker 2: to talk to you about a really awesome organization. And
- 14:59Speaker 2: if you you are pro life and you're proud to
- 15:01Speaker 2: stand up for the rights of unborn children. The Supreme
- 15:05Speaker 2: Court ruled that abortion drugs can keep being sent through
- 15:08Speaker 2: the mail. No doctor visit, no in person exam, no
- 15:13Speaker 2: one checking whether a woman is being pressured, whether she's
- 15:17Speaker 2: too far along, whether she's safe. These are powerful drugs,
- 15:22Speaker 2: and right now there is almost nothing standing between these
- 15:26Speaker 2: drugs and your mailbox. And that's why I want you
- 15:28Speaker 2: to know about Americans United for Life AUL. For more
- 15:33Speaker 2: than fifty years, they've been the legal backbone of pro
- 15:36Speaker 2: life movement. They fight in the courts, they hold the
- 15:40Speaker 2: abortion industry accountable, and right now they are leading the
- 15:44Speaker 2: efforts to restore basic safety protections for these drugs. If
- 15:49Speaker 2: anyone can fix this, it's AUL. Now Here is how
- 15:53Speaker 2: you can help and why it matters now. A donor
- 15:57Speaker 2: has put up two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to
- 16:00Speaker 2: match every gift to Americans United for Life dollar for dollar,
- 16:05Speaker 2: but only through June thirteenth. Twenty five dollars becomes fifty,
- 16:11Speaker 2: fifty becomes one hundred, but that window closes in days.
- 16:16Speaker 2: There are women right now who need someone in their corner,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and AUL is that's someone. And be a part of it.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Go right now to AUL dot org forward slash verdict.
- 16:31Speaker 2: That's Aul dot org forward slash verdict. Give before June thirteenth,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and your gift will be doubled again, that's Aul dot
- 16:44Speaker 2: Org forward slash verdict. Let's start with a big victory
- 16:49Speaker 2: with a Supreme Court striking down a sweeping Hawaii gun
- 16:53Speaker 2: law six to three.
- 16:55Speaker 1: This was big news.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And if you are a Second Amendment advocate like you
- 16:58Speaker 2: and I are, you're glad about this.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Well.
- 17:01Speaker 3: This week it was a major Second Amendment victory at
- 17:04Speaker 3: the Supreme Court. The case is Wolford versus Lopez, and
- 17:07Speaker 3: Hawaii had passed a really broad gun control law and
- 17:14Speaker 3: it was known as Act fifty two. It passed in
- 17:17Speaker 3: twenty twenty three, and it made it a crime for
- 17:21Speaker 3: a licensed concealed carry holder to carry a firearm onto
- 17:26Speaker 3: private property that is open to the public unless the
- 17:30Speaker 3: owner gave express permission. And the consequence of that would mean,
- 17:35Speaker 3: if you had a permit to concealed carry, you couldn't
- 17:38Speaker 3: walk in to say, a grocery store, you couldn't walk
- 17:41Speaker 3: into a department store unless the owner explicitly said, I
- 17:47Speaker 3: give you permission to carry a firearm here. As a
- 17:50Speaker 3: practical matter, that was a really broad ban on a
- 17:57Speaker 3: right that is protected by the Constitution, and so the
- 17:59Speaker 3: Supreme Court struck it down. The vote was six to three.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Justice Sam Alito wrote the majority and that what the
- 18:09Speaker 3: court said is that well, there were several opinions, so
- 18:15Speaker 3: Justice Alito wrote the main opinion. He was joined by
- 18:18Speaker 3: Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Thomas Gorsuch, Kavanon Barrett, and that
- 18:22Speaker 3: held that the Hawaii law burdened the right to bear arms.
- 18:27Speaker 3: The plaintiffs are the Second Amendment says the right of
- 18:30Speaker 3: the people to keep in bare arms shall not be infringed.
- 18:33Speaker 3: And the majority said that you can't take away that
- 18:40Speaker 3: right that broadly and struck it down.
- 18:43Speaker 2: This is again, I love when we get these ruins
- 18:46Speaker 2: and it reminds people just why presidential elections are so important,
- 18:49Speaker 2: because these are the types of rulings that happen even
- 18:52Speaker 2: after people leave the White House. And this is why
- 18:54Speaker 2: it's important that we have a conservative majority on the court.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I go back.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I got to remind people you've got a book coming
- 19:01Speaker 2: out with Quarence Thomas. This is a perfect example of
- 19:04Speaker 2: why having people like Clarence Thomas on the on the
- 19:08Speaker 2: Supreme Court is so important. And remind people the name
- 19:12Speaker 2: of the book so they can go get it. There's
- 19:13Speaker 2: a SiGe up right now where they can pre order
- 19:14Speaker 2: as well.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Going Further, the Incomparable Clarence Thomas is the name of
- 19:20Speaker 3: the book. It's coming out in August, and to biography,
- 19:23Speaker 3: it talks about his life story, it talks about his jurisprudence,
- 19:28Speaker 3: and actually a big part of his jurisprudence was highly
- 19:31Speaker 3: relevant in this decision because what Hawaii argued is it
- 19:35Speaker 3: went back on historical evidence and argued that that Hawaii
- 19:39Speaker 3: had colonial laws that gave it the power to do this.
- 19:44Speaker 3: And the Supreme Court said, no, those dealt with poaching
- 19:49Speaker 3: or hunting or protecting rural land. And sure, you can't
- 19:52Speaker 3: go on someone else's land and say hunt, hunt wildlife
- 19:56Speaker 3: on their land. That's very different from saying land that
- 19:58Speaker 3: is open to the public, like a gas station or
- 20:01Speaker 3: grocery store, that you can just turn ordinary citizens exercising
- 20:07Speaker 3: their constitutional rights automatically into criminals. And Hawaii in particular
- 20:12Speaker 3: pointed to an eighteen sixty five Louisiana Black Code statute
- 20:18Speaker 3: as saying, well, this gives us a basis for passing
- 20:22Speaker 3: this law, and Justice Alito's majority pointed out that that
- 20:27Speaker 3: was a law that was designed to disarm freed black
- 20:35Speaker 3: Americans who this was right after the Civil War and
- 20:41Speaker 3: you look at these black codes. They were driven by clansmen.
- 20:46Speaker 3: And by the way, the clansmen were all Democrats who
- 20:50Speaker 3: did not want the newly freed slaves to be able
- 20:53Speaker 3: to defend themselves. Why because they wanted the Klan to
- 20:55Speaker 3: be able to terrorize them, murder them, threaten them with vice,
- 21:00Speaker 3: and if they had a firearm to defend themselves, that
- 21:03Speaker 3: would be harder to do. And Justice Thomas has written
- 21:06Speaker 3: extensively about that, doing the research during Reconstruction, that the
- 21:11Speaker 3: long racist history of wanting to disarm African Americans to
- 21:18Speaker 3: make them vulnerable to violence, and that played an important
- 21:21Speaker 3: part in this Supreme Court decision this week.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Senat there's one red flag here I want to raise.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And not only did the Supreme Court shut down what
- 21:30Speaker 2: Hawaii was doing, but to be clear, Hawaii was attempting
- 21:33Speaker 2: to make the Second Amendment disappear from everyday life. That
- 21:37Speaker 2: is something that's concerning because this is now the Democratic Party.
- 21:41Speaker 2: This is what they want to do. They want to
- 21:43Speaker 2: take away your right to protect and offend yourself. They
- 21:45Speaker 2: want to take away your right not only at home,
- 21:47Speaker 2: but anywhere, your business, or anywhere else. And they don't
- 21:50Speaker 2: care what about our Second Amendment right at all, that
- 21:55Speaker 2: to them is meaningless.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And you witness that here. And that goes back to
- 21:59Speaker 1: the when.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You look at this decision, what were the other three saying,
- 22:03Speaker 2: Because if you're descending to this, I would assume you'd
- 22:06Speaker 2: have to make it based on the fact that, well,
- 22:08Speaker 2: I don't even believe the Second Amendment is an issue
- 22:10Speaker 2: that supring courts and even even taken a consideration.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Well, there were three dissenters, uh, Justice Kagan, Justice Jackson,
- 22:18Speaker 3: and Justice Sotomayor, and and all three of them would
- 22:21Speaker 3: would have upheld the Hawaii law. Uh and and they
- 22:24Speaker 3: argued that the case was really about property law. And
- 22:28Speaker 3: uh they argued in particular that no one has a
- 22:30Speaker 3: constitutional right to enter private property without consent. Uh and
- 22:35Speaker 3: and so it didn't matter whether you were armed or not.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It was simply property law. But you know that there
- 22:41Speaker 3: have long been number one laws governing public accommodation. So
- 22:45Speaker 3: for example, you can't have a hotel that that that
- 22:51Speaker 3: only rents rooms to white people and not African Americans.
- 22:56Speaker 3: That's that's illegal under our civil rights laws. That once
- 22:58Speaker 3: you open it up into publicommodation, you have to offer
- 23:01Speaker 3: it freely to the people who come in and in
- 23:04Speaker 3: this instance, shutting down those Look, it's one thing anyone
- 23:11Speaker 3: can exclude someone from their property. No one has a
- 23:13Speaker 3: right to enter your home or my home. But when
- 23:17Speaker 3: you open up your property, when you have a store
- 23:19Speaker 3: or gas station or whatever, and you're inviting people into
- 23:22Speaker 3: your property, the effect.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Of that.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Would turn law abiding citizens into criminals. And that's because Listen,
- 23:32Speaker 3: the Left is not hiding that they're objective. They want
- 23:37Speaker 3: to erase the Second Amendment from the Constitution. They want
- 23:41Speaker 3: to ban the private ownership of firearms, and Hawaii was
- 23:44Speaker 3: taking a significant step in that direction by making it
- 23:48Speaker 3: extremely difficult for people to carry a firearm and be
- 23:51Speaker 3: able to defend themselves. And you know, Ben, you've got
- 23:53Speaker 3: personal experience. Tell folks your experience and how carrying a
- 23:58Speaker 3: gun literally saved your life.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I mean, I'm such an advocate for this.
- 24:03Speaker 2: It's the reason why I end up buying a gun
- 24:04Speaker 2: store and having a gun range and having the classes
- 24:07Speaker 2: to get your permit carrying. Now it's constitutional carry in
- 24:10Speaker 2: Tennessee and so many other states. But being on a
- 24:12Speaker 2: protective to finguerrself, if I didn't have a gun the
- 24:15Speaker 2: night that I was a target of a gang initiation.
- 24:17Speaker 2: You would have come to my funeral. That's not a joke.
- 24:20Speaker 2: There was two gang members. It's called getting blood in
- 24:22Speaker 2: the gang, and one of the senior members gets another
- 24:26Speaker 2: guy in the gang and they have to kill somebody,
- 24:27Speaker 2: and they do that so they have something on them
- 24:30Speaker 2: so that the gang members will never flip or nark
- 24:33Speaker 2: or wear a wire because they can go to the
- 24:34Speaker 2: police and say, hey, there's a shooting that happened at
- 24:37Speaker 2: this time, at this place, and it's a it's a
- 24:39Speaker 2: it's a it's a brilliant business structure if you think
- 24:42Speaker 2: about it. I almost when they explained it to me,
- 24:44Speaker 2: the police did, I was like, okay, wow, that's that's shocking.
- 24:47Speaker 2: But I was able to use my firearm, pull it
- 24:50Speaker 2: and shoot back and save my life and my best
- 24:53Speaker 2: friend's life, who happened to be with me. I think, goodness,
- 24:55Speaker 2: he wasn't shot either, Uh, but it was. It was
- 24:57Speaker 2: a shootout. And I tell you, like, I look at
- 24:59Speaker 2: the Hawaii and it's personal for me in any other
- 25:03Speaker 2: state where they try to take away your right to
- 25:04Speaker 2: protect and defend yourself because you have that right.
- 25:07Speaker 1: That's what makes this country so great.
- 25:09Speaker 2: And when you see these these Supreme Court justices who
- 25:12Speaker 2: just say, I don't care what America was found out,
- 25:14Speaker 2: I don't care about the Second Amendment. And the same
- 25:17Speaker 2: way in Hawaii, they basically said, we don't care what
- 25:19Speaker 2: the laws were or are or what is in this
- 25:22Speaker 2: country that makes in America.
- 25:23Speaker 1: We're just going to change what we want to.
- 25:25Speaker 2: And having three Supreme Court justices who make the decision
- 25:30Speaker 2: the way that you just described it, it goes back
- 25:32Speaker 2: to this is why presidential elections matter, because when you lose,
- 25:36Speaker 2: these are the types of people that get on the
- 25:38Speaker 2: Supreme Court and they can undo this country.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:41Speaker 3: I mean, look, Gavin Newsom, who by any measure is
- 25:44Speaker 3: one of the leading front runners for the Democrat nomination
- 25:48Speaker 3: for president, he tweeted out in response to this quote,
- 25:51Speaker 3: gun laws keep people safe. This ruling by Trump's Supreme
- 25:55Speaker 3: Court will only endanger people. If Justice Alito really thinks
- 25:59Speaker 3: people need guns to go to the grocery store for
- 26:02Speaker 3: self defense, this country is truly broken. But by the way,
- 26:07Speaker 3: where were you when when? When you were when when
- 26:10Speaker 3: these gang members tried to kill you?
- 26:13Speaker 1: All Right, So I was in Memphis, Tennessee.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It was literally a block and a half from the
- 26:18Speaker 2: entrance to the large mid South fair, so we when
- 26:21Speaker 2: it happened. They put a gun to my head at
- 26:24Speaker 2: one point, and there were a family with a stroller
- 26:27Speaker 2: walking past us, and he had to move the gun
- 26:28Speaker 2: from the side of my head down to the inside
- 26:31Speaker 2: and he told me to shake his blanking hand. I
- 26:33Speaker 2: had to shake hands with the guy that had just
- 26:35Speaker 2: beat me up and had a gun to my head.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That's how close we were the fair. We actually didn't
- 26:40Speaker 2: even have to dial nine one one. We just ran
- 26:42Speaker 2: down the street to a police officer that was directing traffic.
- 26:45Speaker 2: That's how close they were to us. And the police
- 26:47Speaker 2: officer said, we heard the gun shots, and so you know,
- 26:51Speaker 2: you look at those types of people, that's what you're
- 26:53Speaker 2: up against, and that's why you got to be able to
- 26:55Speaker 2: protect and you got to be able to defend yourself.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Their way, you won't. You won't be able to carry
- 27:02Speaker 3: a firearm and defend yourself. And that's that's what they believe.
- 27:06Speaker 2: The Supreme Court also handed President Trump two major immigration victories. Uh,
- 27:11Speaker 2: and this was an exciting moment when it comes to
- 27:13Speaker 2: immigration cases and victories that we needed.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Well, that's right, six' three The Supreme. Court there were
- 27:19Speaker 3: two big. Wins one case Was mullen Versus. Do the
- 27:22Speaker 3: other case Was mullen versus Alotro, lado which Is spanish
- 27:26Speaker 3: for on the other side uh and in both instances
- 27:31Speaker 3: it was six to. Three both, Instances Justice alito wrote the.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Opinion so all three of these opinions were written By Justice.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Alito he had an incredibly strong week defending our. Rights
- 27:40Speaker 3: one of the, cases The mullen Versus Alotro, lado it
- 27:43Speaker 3: what it concluded is that an illegal immigrant on the
- 27:48Speaker 3: other side of the border In mexico has not entered
- 27:52Speaker 3: into The United states for purposes of immigration. Law and
- 27:56Speaker 3: The biden administration had it adopted a policy where they
- 28:00Speaker 3: treated illegal immigrants who weren't in the country as if
- 28:04Speaker 3: they were in the country and that they had a
- 28:07Speaker 3: right to all sorts of processes before they come into the. Country, now,
- 28:11Speaker 3: remember starting in the First trump, Term President trump implemented
- 28:16Speaker 3: what was called The remain In mexico, policy which dramatically
- 28:19Speaker 3: reduced illegal immigration in the First trump, term and that
- 28:22Speaker 3: was preventing illegal immigrants from coming to this country in
- 28:25Speaker 3: the first. Place and this was an effort to ignore
- 28:32Speaker 3: the plain language of the immigration, laws AND i led
- 28:37Speaker 3: an amicus brief amicus curiei Is latin for friend of the.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Court AND i led an amicust brief that was joined
- 28:45Speaker 3: by five members Of congress supporting The trump administration's policy
- 28:49Speaker 3: of stopping, immigrants preventing illegal, immigrants stopping them from coming
- 28:53Speaker 3: into the. Country and The Supreme court agreed with my,
- 28:56Speaker 3: brief agreed with The Trump department Of, justice handed down that.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Victory and then the other, case which which is mullin
- 29:03Speaker 3: versus do The court concluded that that temporary protected, status
- 29:10Speaker 3: which which The biden administration had awarded to hundreds of
- 29:14Speaker 3: thousands Of haitians And, syrians That President trump could reverse
- 29:20Speaker 3: that that it wasn't a permanent grant of. Amnesty that,
- 29:24Speaker 3: decision likewise was hugely important for the. SUCCESSES i mean,
- 29:29Speaker 3: remember in this Second trump, term we have seen illegal
- 29:32Speaker 3: border crossings drop ninety nine. Percent that's a staggering. Victory
- 29:37Speaker 3: and The Supreme court upheld the president's ability to continue
- 29:40Speaker 3: to continue enforcing the.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Law, yeah it really. Is AND i want people to
- 29:44Speaker 2: just to. Hear shann'tbery said this On Fox News channel about.
- 29:47Speaker 2: THIS i want to take a listen here's how she
- 29:49Speaker 2: described it in front of The Supreme court.
- 29:52Speaker 6: And syrian refugees who were here in the, Country and
- 29:55Speaker 6: basically what the court has said is that they can't
- 29:58Speaker 6: challenge this decision and by The department Of Homeland, security
- 30:02Speaker 6: by the administration that they're the ones who get to
- 30:04Speaker 6: make the assessment about whether they leave or. NOT i
- 30:06Speaker 6: haven't read the whole, thing but they do get into
- 30:08Speaker 6: some of the claims that by some of those who
- 30:10Speaker 6: are advocating for The haitians refugees that there was some
- 30:13Speaker 6: kind of racial. Animis the court says they don't see
- 30:16Speaker 6: evidence of. That So i'll keep. Reading but it's another
- 30:19Speaker 6: very fractured decision that seems to be a win for
- 30:21Speaker 6: The trump, administration which would be the second win for
- 30:24Speaker 6: them on immigration that earlier decision that we talked about
- 30:27Speaker 6: that came out just a few minutes, ago saying that
- 30:29Speaker 6: if you get to The mexico border but you don't
- 30:31Speaker 6: make it ONTO us, soil you can't file an asylum.
- 30:33Speaker 6: Claim so The trump administration has to be happy about
- 30:36Speaker 6: what they've. Gotten, Today we've still got eight opinions left
- 30:39Speaker 6: and it looks Like monday will be.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So so you hear her talk about this ruling in
- 30:44Speaker 2: favor Of. Trump this is another example of doing the right.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Thing maybe. Tough you may go to The Spring, court
- 30:49Speaker 2: but you're going to win in this.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Scenario and by the, way both of these decisions were
- 30:53Speaker 3: six to, three which means that the liberals on the,
- 30:55Speaker 3: COURTS i don't care what the statutory language. Says they
- 30:58Speaker 3: just like in The Second amendment, case where they would
- 31:02Speaker 3: effectively read The Second amendment out of The bill Of,
- 31:04Speaker 3: rights when it comes to legal, immigration they would read
- 31:08Speaker 3: out the ability to secure our border and they would
- 31:11Speaker 3: try instead embody the open border policies we saw during
- 31:14Speaker 3: The biden. Administration compare How Shannon brain covered it On
- 31:18Speaker 3: fox can compare this TO ms, now which IS i
- 31:22Speaker 3: guess what they're CALLING msnbc. NOW i don't even know
- 31:25Speaker 3: that anyone watches the, show but listen to the lefties
- 31:29Speaker 3: on ms now using their.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Minds, yeah total. Meltdown take a, Listen.
- 31:34Speaker 7: ALAN i want your reaction to What fallon just laid
- 31:37Speaker 7: out for us. There and the concept here that the
- 31:40Speaker 7: core is ignoring the history of this administration's remarks About
- 31:44Speaker 7: haitian people in. PARTICULAR i don't think there is a
- 31:46Speaker 7: Single american who can say they actually forget what we
- 31:51Speaker 7: heard from The, president what we heard From Vice President
- 31:53Speaker 7: vance About haitian, people just some of the most disgusting
- 31:56Speaker 7: and racist remarks you can. IMAGINE i know that you
- 32:00Speaker 7: work with a number Of haitian. Clients break down for
- 32:03Speaker 7: me just how devastating all of this is about to
- 32:06Speaker 7: be very.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Devastating AND i hope we stop talking about it as
- 32:09Speaker 4: The troupe administration one or someone, won because right Now america.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Loss there are going to be a lot of jobs
- 32:14Speaker 4: that are, open and a lot of people in home
- 32:15Speaker 4: health care industries that are not going to receive any
- 32:17Speaker 4: service because their providers are going to be removed from
- 32:20Speaker 4: The United. States there are a lot of people who
- 32:22Speaker 4: are going to die and suffer because of the account of,
- 32:25Speaker 4: this so which this court was more of a court
- 32:27Speaker 4: of equity than they say they were a court of.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Policy right, Now SO i am the chair of The
- 32:31Speaker 4: Haitian Bridge, alliance which is The United states organization that
- 32:34Speaker 4: represents These haitians before The Supreme, court and we have
- 32:37Speaker 4: made the argument that not just his, comments but also
- 32:40Speaker 4: in the writings and just recently even the discovered emails
- 32:43Speaker 4: From Christy home about the clear conversations they've made About
- 32:46Speaker 4: haitians and black immigrants in general when you even look
- 32:49Speaker 4: at the refugee, policy and this court has said even
- 32:52Speaker 4: with that, information there's nothing for us to do, here
- 32:55Speaker 4: which seems to be extremely problematic along party. Lawns and
- 32:58Speaker 4: today you've seen something THAT i haven't seen in The
- 33:00Speaker 4: Supreme court in a very long, time is that you've
- 33:03Speaker 4: seen The justice sort of read descents that are thirty
- 33:05Speaker 4: five pages from the. Bar so even in The Supreme,
- 33:07Speaker 4: court you see not the harmony that generally exists there
- 33:11Speaker 4: in peaceful descent in saying that this is outside the,
- 33:13Speaker 4: norm and because it is outside the, normal because it
- 33:15Speaker 4: isn't about just policy and. Procedure this is about people
- 33:19Speaker 4: in human engagement and the concept that people keep saying
- 33:22Speaker 4: that the problem is that it's temporary status and it's
- 33:25Speaker 4: been longer than. Temporary, well change the word don't put
- 33:29Speaker 4: people's lives in danger because you feel that that arbitrary removes.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Something and has stated before there are a million of
- 33:35Speaker 4: classes OF tps individuals who are here legally, working so they're,
- 33:39Speaker 4: authorized they've been. Vetted there's not the concerns that you,
- 33:41Speaker 4: have but people who may come in undocumented as.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Well as they're supporting our.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Economy and when you remove those, individuals you draw down
- 33:49Speaker 4: all of those work. Areas so all those jobs are.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Doing all of these companies that are relying on THESE
- 33:53Speaker 4: tps workers to work tomorrow are going to have to
- 33:56Speaker 4: make decisions about them leaving. Today so this is not
- 33:58Speaker 4: a big win that we think we're going to sell.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Break and there are three hundred and fifty million or
- 34:02Speaker 4: More americans in The United. STATES a MILLION tps holders
- 34:05Speaker 4: are not causing some economic burden on The United States.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Center you listened to that and you would think the
- 34:11Speaker 2: sky is, Falling and that is how they're covering it
- 34:14Speaker 2: on MS now the FORMER.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Msnbc, yeah look that the left wants open. Borders what
- 34:19Speaker 3: we saw Under Joe, biden twelve million people invade this
- 34:23Speaker 3: country and that included, criminals included murderers and rapists and
- 34:26Speaker 3: terrorists and child. Molesters and that's what these advocates. Want
- 34:31Speaker 3: and by the, way you look at From, Haiti haiti
- 34:34Speaker 3: right now is rocked with massive. Violence it is all
- 34:39Speaker 3: but chaos And haiti as the gangs have taken over
- 34:42Speaker 3: and that's those are those are the people that the
- 34:46Speaker 3: left is trying to bring. In and let me be
- 34:48Speaker 3: clear that the immigration law that was being decided on
- 34:52Speaker 3: here says explicitly no judicial review of any, determination and
- 34:57Speaker 3: yet that's what the court. Followed and at the dissenters
- 35:00Speaker 3: don't care what the statute. Says they just want to open.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Borders it really. Is don't. Forget we do this Show, Monday, Wednesday.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Friday hit that subscriber auto download button wherever you get your,
- 35:09Speaker 2: podcasts and Then senator AND i will see you back
- 35:12Speaker 2: here on radio stations next.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Week have a great. Week
