Scammers are targeting recently released inmates in Madison County, Nebraska, falsely claiming they owe money for release fees or ankle monitors and demanding payment via Cash App, Venmo, or crypto. The Sheriff’s Office warns this is a scam — they’ll never call asking for money through these apps.
