- 0:31Speaker 3: I will honestly tell you I've been trying to get
- 0:34Speaker 3: her on the show. I think it started in March
- 0:38Speaker 3: and we've got booked her and there was no bookings.
- 0:42Speaker 3: But let me just get her rolling because I got her. Now,
- 0:45Speaker 3: my guest name is Jasmine Brown. We'll be discussing multiple
- 0:48Speaker 3: streams of income. Like I said, it's right before the break.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Jason Brown is an actress. Start in Tyler Perry's Zatimo.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I think there's Zatomo Sisters and movies like House Party.
- 0:58Speaker 3: She is a writer, producers and up comedian with a
- 1:01Speaker 3: tour called Rent Deu. I believes the name of the
- 1:03Speaker 3: comedy too. I missed her when she came through town.
- 1:05Speaker 3: She's a social media influencer. She's created on alter ego
- 1:10Speaker 3: by the Turnmit Reggie and Miss turn Up. Jasmine managed
- 1:14Speaker 3: to build a whole new audience by simply being herself
- 1:17Speaker 3: from social media to the stand up comedy stage, she
- 1:20Speaker 3: says a lawyer, following built on Instagram accounts. Miss turn
- 1:23Speaker 3: Up has I believe over seven hundred thousand followers and
- 1:26Speaker 3: her watch Jazzy page, has I bleed like one point
- 1:29Speaker 3: three million followers. Please work with the money making conversations masterclass,
- 1:34Speaker 3: Miss Jasmine Brown.
- 1:35Speaker 1: How you doing, Miss Brown?
- 1:37Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Can you just introduce me everywhere I go?
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you so, I'm Jason.
- 1:41Speaker 3: When I stopped doing stand up comedy, Steve Harvey refused.
- 1:45Speaker 3: He said, Rashan, you might not do stand up anymore,
- 1:47Speaker 3: but I want you introducing me all the time. And
- 1:50Speaker 3: so even though I stopped doing stand up, he would
- 1:53Speaker 3: always ask me. We went on tour for like three years,
- 1:56Speaker 3: I'd stopped doing stand up, and I would walk out
- 1:58Speaker 3: of the state. I wouldn't tell you no jokes. And
- 2:00Speaker 3: so when I walk out on stage, people just standing. Man,
- 2:02Speaker 3: why is guy out there? And boy, by the time
- 2:04Speaker 3: I finished that intro, they were standing. They were standing
- 2:07Speaker 3: up there giving him a standing ovation Steve Harvey. So
- 2:11Speaker 3: believe me, miss Brown. Whenever you need to be introduced,
- 2:14Speaker 3: and you said, Rashan McDonald, will you come introduce me,
- 2:17Speaker 3: I will fly there. I'll be there for you because
- 2:20Speaker 3: I know how to bring a star on stage, and you,
- 2:22Speaker 3: my friend, are star.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Oh thank you, I know that's right. How you doing?
- 2:27Speaker 4: Thank you for having me. I'm happy that we finally
- 2:29Speaker 4: got the extra post.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Well, you know, you know, I've been doing my little
- 2:32Speaker 3: love research, you know, dropping, you know, your little interviews
- 2:35Speaker 3: on YouTube here and now watching your little career. I'm
- 2:38Speaker 3: gonna say I say little in the humorous manner, pop
- 2:41Speaker 3: up and down and grow, because anybody got one point
- 2:43Speaker 3: three million follows on Instagram and got a little career,
- 2:47Speaker 3: they are booming, booming, boom booming. Now you're from Florida,
- 2:51Speaker 3: correct and.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Correct and don't ever get a twister.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Okay, well look all ready threatened me. See that's the
- 2:57Speaker 1: sad part about certain people. You know.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Miss Turner just hopped on my interview, I thought I
- 3:02Speaker 3: was talking to Miss Jams and Brown, but miss turn
- 3:04Speaker 3: Up she gonna come in and start taking over the show.
- 3:07Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about those other characters in a minute,
- 3:09Speaker 3: turn Might and Ridgie in a minute. But let's talk
- 3:11Speaker 3: about you, my friend, because what were you doing before
- 3:16Speaker 3: stand up comedy?
- 3:17Speaker 1: What were you doing?
- 3:18Speaker 4: Oh? Okay, before a stand up Honestly, I was just auditioning,
- 3:24Speaker 4: auditioning and taking acting classes because I cannot stress and
- 3:28Speaker 4: express enough how important it is for you to stay
- 3:31Speaker 4: in class. I haven't found anybody since I've been in
- 3:35Speaker 4: the A, but I'm sure that there's a ton of
- 3:37Speaker 4: amazing acting coaches out here. But just saying, excuse, what
- 3:41Speaker 4: about Florida?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Though you in the A now, But but.
- 3:44Speaker 4: What no, no, no, no.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, no, no no, what about that don't get it
- 3:47Speaker 1: twisted state Florida?
- 3:49Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, yeah, that's what That's where I was studying.
- 3:52Speaker 4: So I studied as an actress program called the Actress
- 3:55Speaker 4: Workshop of South Florida. Yes, it was a very amazing.
- 3:59Speaker 4: My acting coach, God bless her, so she, you know,
- 4:01Speaker 4: was laid to rest a couple of years back to
- 4:05Speaker 4: the program. Hasn't really hasn't gone anywhere since then because
- 4:08Speaker 4: she was everything to the program. However, that's what I
- 4:11Speaker 4: was doing, just auditioning and grinding and also writing.
- 4:14Speaker 1: And you know before but you weren't doing stand up
- 4:17Speaker 1: though you were not.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Doing not I was not doing stand up. I was
- 4:20Speaker 4: just I was just sharpening my tools, just waiting for
- 4:23Speaker 4: waiting for the opportunity, staying in the lab, making sure
- 4:26Speaker 4: I'm auditioning. And then you know, when the stand up
- 4:29Speaker 4: opportunity came about, it's because I was putting my characters
- 4:32Speaker 4: out there and somebody saw Toya turn Up and was like,
- 4:36Speaker 4: we would love to put her on the stage.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I get hold on, hold.
- 4:41Speaker 3: On for first of all, because you I love people
- 4:43Speaker 3: who like they know they career, they know their story,
- 4:45Speaker 3: but they don't put no years, They don't put those
- 4:48Speaker 3: things full years. Okay, okay, when did you hit the stage?
- 4:52Speaker 3: When did you start? Miss turn Up? And you dropped
- 4:54Speaker 3: it on social media? Obviously people started falling in love
- 4:57Speaker 3: with it. So when did that happen? When did start happening?
- 5:01Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Okay, man, it was a long time ago,
- 5:07Speaker 4: because it was before I felt like it was before Instagram.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I was just creating these characters. And the singest Toya
- 5:16Speaker 4: was created. You know when I was a child, and
- 5:20Speaker 4: you know, I grew up in South Florida. I lived
- 5:22Speaker 4: in West Palm and I lived in the hood, and
- 5:25Speaker 4: like I would be.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Outside, you didn't want to get the hood out of
- 5:30Speaker 3: real We had to go home and just pull that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Out of here. I knew you which ball beat you
- 5:34Speaker 1: a hood? Now, I knew that right now.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I grew up in the hood. So Toya was
- 5:37Speaker 4: subconsciously being created this entire time. So once I finally
- 5:42Speaker 4: put the character together with my allowance money, with getting
- 5:45Speaker 4: you know, buying wigs and doing things like that, Toya
- 5:48Speaker 4: was around for a very long time. So once I
- 5:50Speaker 4: started putting her on YouTube and I built the courage
- 5:52Speaker 4: to actually like show her to the world, then I
- 5:55Speaker 4: got the likes of a lot of people, and it
- 5:58Speaker 4: just it just went from there. But this was, man,
- 6:01Speaker 4: you want me to put a time on it, I can't, Man,
- 6:03Speaker 4: what is it? We twenty twenty three? This was, Oh
- 6:05Speaker 4: my goodness, this was I can't even tell you two
- 6:08Speaker 4: thousand and what.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But then they but then they started, but the comedy
- 6:12Speaker 3: club owners started seeing you now now, now that's that's
- 6:16Speaker 3: a that's a transition from a character to a stand
- 6:19Speaker 3: up comedy routine. Okay, for sure you could because now
- 6:23Speaker 3: you know, because you know, you can't just come on
- 6:25Speaker 3: stage and misturn up, you know, because that's a hard
- 6:27Speaker 3: character to keep going for that long.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So who, so pop says who?
- 6:32Speaker 5: Who?
- 6:33Speaker 4: Who?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Oh, excuse me, let me talk to miss turn up?
- 6:35Speaker 1: Am I talking to?
- 6:36Speaker 6: Turn up?
- 6:36Speaker 4: Now?
- 6:37Speaker 1: A Jazmine? What am I talking right now?
- 6:39Speaker 4: Listen for me? For me, it was just storytelling. I
- 6:42Speaker 4: created such a just a variety of content that all
- 6:47Speaker 4: I really had to do was go in and take
- 6:48Speaker 4: my videos and put them into and piece them together.
- 6:51Speaker 4: But all I did was tell stories. I would tell
- 6:54Speaker 4: about three four stories, and that would be about an
- 6:56Speaker 4: hour long. Sometimes they would have to be coming off
- 6:58Speaker 4: the stage like we gotta, we gotta get out of here,
- 7:00Speaker 4: because I didn't really you know, I didn't really know
- 7:02Speaker 4: how to stop, you know. But people were like, man,
- 7:04Speaker 4: I know people who've been in the game for a
- 7:06Speaker 4: long time who can't do a solid forty five minutes.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Well, the one gift I've not seen your show, but
- 7:12Speaker 3: I have to believe that your improvisational skills have to
- 7:14Speaker 3: be pretty off the chart, and that really is.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Oh correct sir, Yeah, that's correct.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I know because of the fact that if anybody doesn't
- 7:23Speaker 3: know what improv is. I always tell people a great
- 7:25Speaker 3: person that improv. You know, you'll see some people they're
- 7:29Speaker 3: they're that's how you're doing an audience and then they're
- 7:31Speaker 3: say something rude back to them. That's not in profit,
- 7:33Speaker 3: that's not improfit. I always tell people, if you if
- 7:36Speaker 3: you can, if you can take an improv or reaction
- 7:39Speaker 3: to an audience member three sentences or three lines, now
- 7:43Speaker 3: that's a bit. Now that's a bit. And so the
- 7:46Speaker 3: person I'm talking to on the phone, the way she's
- 7:49Speaker 3: talking and the way she's articulating, lets me know that
- 7:52Speaker 3: she can see something, she can take a reaction and
- 7:55Speaker 3: it becomes a story, and she puts that story into
- 7:58Speaker 3: her vernacular and gets what she's able to make it
- 8:03Speaker 3: relatable to everybody in the room. That's a gift that
- 8:06Speaker 3: most people don't understand, and that's what she has. That's
- 8:09Speaker 3: why she's able to take this character miss turn up
- 8:13Speaker 3: and turn it into an extended piece. That's why she said, Rashan,
- 8:16Speaker 3: you don't know what you're talking about, you know, I'm
- 8:18Speaker 3: happy on that stage three stories in, I'm mab forty
- 8:21Speaker 3: five and I'm forty five and three stories in.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Because am I correct? I'm not misspoken a miss turn up.
- 8:29Speaker 4: No, you're correct, You're saying everything right.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Because you know what continue what's.
- 8:35Speaker 4: So beautiful about it is the fact that I've I
- 8:37Speaker 4: was able to create such an online presence. I had
- 8:40Speaker 4: the luxury of performing in front of my own fans.
- 8:43Speaker 4: So the people that came out to see me were
- 8:45Speaker 4: people that knew who I was, that were already excited,
- 8:48Speaker 4: and you know, they were just ready for whatever. So
- 8:52Speaker 4: that that was the beautiful thing about it. I got
- 8:54Speaker 4: to meet the people whose lives I was able I
- 8:56Speaker 4: was touching over years, you know, so you know, it was.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Just really it really is really is amazing what she's
- 9:04Speaker 3: talking about, because you know, I grew up in h
- 9:07Speaker 3: I sort of doing stand up comedy for death comedy jams.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So most of the comedy clubs I performed in were white.
- 9:12Speaker 3: They were white comedy clubs, and you knew, you knew
- 9:15Speaker 3: when I came in the city that when I started
- 9:18Speaker 3: seeing more and more black people in the audience, you
- 9:20Speaker 3: knew they came to see me.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They came to see me in.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Particular, so I could just tell right there, okay, yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 3: this room mers twenty five percent black now, and the
- 9:28Speaker 3: club owner would tell me, well, you know he was
- 9:30Speaker 3: showing you have a lot of people showing up to
- 9:31Speaker 3: see I knew I could see them.
- 9:32Speaker 1: They're black like there.
- 9:34Speaker 3: And so and that that made me feel good because
- 9:37Speaker 3: you know, they buy my merchandise, They stay after the show,
- 9:40Speaker 3: shake my hand, want to take photos. It was kind
- 9:43Speaker 3: of a loyalty that you know, was done way before Twitter,
- 9:47Speaker 3: way before all these things. I have my little cars.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I said I'd mail them out to everybody, let them
- 9:52Speaker 3: know I was coming into town. That was my marketing plan. Now,
- 9:56Speaker 3: as you start building this relationship, when did you knew
- 10:00Speaker 3: know that you had something special here, Miss Brown?
- 10:02Speaker 4: You know, honestly, I didn't know. I just I just
- 10:05Speaker 4: did things that made me feel good, and it made
- 10:08Speaker 4: me feel good to play different characters. It made me
- 10:11Speaker 4: feel good to make people laugh, even if it was
- 10:14Speaker 4: just my family members. I never thought it was anything
- 10:17Speaker 4: special until people told me it was special. Because it's
- 10:21Speaker 4: like you don't really know you're different, or until you
- 10:24Speaker 4: start meeting other people that aren't really like you, or
- 10:26Speaker 4: it's like, oh, you can't do voices, or you don't
- 10:28Speaker 4: know how to do characters, like what you think everybody
- 10:30Speaker 4: can do it? And that's what I thought. I thought
- 10:32Speaker 4: everybody could do everything the things that I did. So
- 10:35Speaker 4: it wasn't until people were like, no, jazz, like, not
- 10:38Speaker 4: everybody can do that. That's that's when I found out
- 10:41Speaker 4: that it was actually something you know worth you know,
- 10:48Speaker 4: you know, I'm talking to.
- 10:49Speaker 3: The multi talented Jasmine Brown from West Palm Beach, Florida,
- 10:54Speaker 3: down there in the hood down But the beautiful thing
- 10:59Speaker 3: about her is she's try happening around this country doing
- 11:01Speaker 3: her stand up Commons show.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I think it's called the Rent Dew.
- 11:03Speaker 4: To her right, Rent still do. I just wrapped it
- 11:06Speaker 4: up last month.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay, okay, really really really you could have
- 11:11Speaker 3: said you have to just do my show like that. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 3: go with the flow, Go with the flow. But you
- 11:15Speaker 3: go tell everybody know that my show is dated already,
- 11:18Speaker 3: you're wrapped it up.
- 11:18Speaker 6: They can't come see you.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, and it's because I have to get
- 11:22Speaker 4: back to filming. So I was, yeah, so I was like,
- 11:26Speaker 4: I have a break, let me, let me try to
- 11:28Speaker 4: go to a couple of my favorite cities and before
- 11:30Speaker 4: I get back to film.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Okay, let me tell you, let'st's talk about you because obviously,
- 11:35Speaker 3: obviously Rashaw McDonald, it's kind of late on the Jasmine train. Okay,
- 11:39Speaker 3: because really, you know, she she can act. Jesus, she
- 11:43Speaker 3: has forty five different characters. Jesus, she's on all these
- 11:48Speaker 3: house party sisters. Is it's a teama?
- 11:51Speaker 1: What is that? What is the name of that? Tyler Perry.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I just want to make sure because I'll be honest,
- 11:58Speaker 3: I've never seen the show. I've never seen and so
- 12:01Speaker 3: so I want to make sure that I not that
- 12:03Speaker 3: I've seen sisters. I've seen your sisters. Now I can't
- 12:06Speaker 3: see all the time. Tip Perry got like five hundred shows,
- 12:08Speaker 3: so you can't see them all the aval used to
- 12:10Speaker 3: be my show. Oval was my show. I could miss
- 12:12Speaker 3: that show. Oh that show is so silly. That was
- 12:15Speaker 3: my show. And so now when you when you the
- 12:18Speaker 3: acting part of that's what you started out doing, was acting,
- 12:23Speaker 3: how did you suddenly get back into the acting. Let
- 12:26Speaker 3: me ask you this question, which was taken off first
- 12:29Speaker 3: the acting or the stand up comedy.
- 12:32Speaker 4: The stand up comedy took off. And the only reason
- 12:35Speaker 4: why I even agreed to do it is because they
- 12:37Speaker 4: told me, well, you'll be playing your character, so technically
- 12:40Speaker 4: you would be acting.
- 12:41Speaker 3: No, not j The check didn't the check didn't inspire you.
- 12:45Speaker 3: The money making opportunities didn't inspire you.
- 12:47Speaker 4: No. I told myself. I said, I'm not a comedian.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I'm not that's what I do. And he's like, well, technically,
- 12:54Speaker 4: he's like you, you'd be acting, so you would just
- 12:56Speaker 4: be acting as your character on stage, so technically you're acting,
- 12:59Speaker 4: and all like, come, maybe you're right. I said, okay,
- 13:02Speaker 4: Well i'll try it out for you know, it was
- 13:04Speaker 4: a weekend. I said, okay, I'll try I'll try it
- 13:06Speaker 4: out for the weekend and then see how I feel.
- 13:08Speaker 4: And when I tell you, I blacked out on stage
- 13:11Speaker 4: and I don't remember what happened, but all I knew
- 13:13Speaker 4: was that the people went wild and the rest was history.
- 13:19Speaker 4: It was just a feeling I've never felt before.
- 13:21Speaker 3: I know that experience the very first time I walked
- 13:23Speaker 3: on stage, and it was an eighty six, no doubt
- 13:26Speaker 3: the teaming, it's eighty one. I walked those stages stand
- 13:28Speaker 3: up commedators, and I remember I got a standing ovation
- 13:31Speaker 3: the very first time I walked through stage, and I
- 13:32Speaker 3: don't remember what I did, but I just know that
- 13:36Speaker 3: because it's that rush. She's talking about, that ability to
- 13:39Speaker 3: just make people laugh, because I've been practicing my stuff
- 13:42Speaker 3: out in front of my oldest sister and her son.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I was just practicing every day getting ready because it
- 13:47Speaker 3: gave me five minutes, and that five minutes was just
- 13:50Speaker 3: clicking through real fast. But the laughs kind of like
- 13:52Speaker 3: extends to five minutes and they're giving you the life
- 13:55Speaker 3: because you didn't even got to your last joke and
- 13:57Speaker 3: you're just trying to build momentum to get off stage
- 14:00Speaker 3: with the ultimate crescendo, which is applause. That's what you want.
- 14:03Speaker 3: And my very first show ever did I got a
- 14:06Speaker 3: standing ovation. I'm not saying that every show after that
- 14:09Speaker 3: was a standing ovation, because sometimes when you walk on
- 14:12Speaker 3: stage and you just raw, you just want to just
- 14:16Speaker 3: just be entertaining, and that's what you was, that's what
- 14:18Speaker 3: you was accomplishing at that moment.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Correct, Yeah, absolutely, I mean you hit it right on
- 14:23Speaker 4: the head.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Well cool, Well, when we come back from this break,
- 14:25Speaker 3: they told me I got to go to break, and
- 14:26Speaker 3: when we come back from this break, I got some
- 14:28Speaker 3: more storytelling because I haven't got the termite yet. I
- 14:31Speaker 3: haven't got the Reggie yet. And I want to tell
- 14:33Speaker 3: you this is about multiple streams of income. See, we're
- 14:35Speaker 3: about to break it down to everybody right now. As
- 14:38Speaker 3: she's talking to me, she's making money someplaces. This is
- 14:40Speaker 3: who I'm talking right now, this multi stream. She's making
- 14:44Speaker 3: mailbox money. That means and when she go to the mailbox,
- 14:47Speaker 3: it's some way knowing her beside the bill. When we
- 14:49Speaker 3: come back, Jaffley Brown, she's kicking it in the big
- 14:52Speaker 3: time world from Florida to the Big A, all around
- 14:56Speaker 3: the country.
- 14:57Speaker 1: B E. T.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Tyler Perry, A lot of big name's tied to this
- 15:00Speaker 3: woman's name. She's a bawler.
- 15:10Speaker 6: We'll be right back with more money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 15:14Speaker 6: with Rushawn McDonald. You are now tuned into the Money
- 15:19Speaker 6: Making Conversations Minute of Inspiration with Rashawn McDonald.
- 15:23Speaker 7: Longevity is tied to your ability to adapt and change.
- 15:26Speaker 7: According to Cedric the Entertainer, I want to be a
- 15:28Speaker 7: little bit more dramatic nowadays. I definitely want something big
- 15:32Speaker 7: and funny, but I look for things that could just
- 15:34Speaker 7: have people see me in a different light and let
- 15:36Speaker 7: me mature as both an entertainer and an actor and
- 15:39Speaker 7: a comedian.
- 15:40Speaker 5: My data of believing in the long run, man like
- 15:43Speaker 5: you can't necessarily if you get hits now and you
- 15:47Speaker 5: know somebody have a big hit young in their career,
- 15:49Speaker 5: what's the best thing about having a long career? So
- 15:53Speaker 5: Rustine Harvey show that was on the WP to having
- 15:57Speaker 5: my show to soul Man that was on TV. But
- 16:00Speaker 5: I've never had anything on one of the big networks.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I've had deals to this point in my life to
- 16:06Speaker 5: have a show on the number one network with a
- 16:08Speaker 5: number one new comedy. You see a difference.
- 16:10Speaker 7: If you want to hear this full interview with Cedric Entertainer,
- 16:13Speaker 7: visit Moneymaking Conversation dot com.
- 16:16Speaker 6: Now let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashaan McDonald.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'm talking to Jasmine Brown MS turn up. These are
- 16:26Speaker 3: characters he developed when she was really really young and
- 16:30Speaker 3: uh in uh West Palm Beach, Florida. Now she's really
- 16:33Speaker 3: she's the grown up woman now and she's now making
- 16:36Speaker 3: money off these characters that she developed really really long
- 16:39Speaker 3: way before Instagram. She developed these characters. These are not
- 16:42Speaker 3: characters that she thought of last week just so she
- 16:44Speaker 3: can build a social media following. In fact, she just
- 16:47Speaker 3: upload these characters because she was inspired. She was motivated
- 16:51Speaker 3: because she felt that this is something she wanted to share,
- 16:54Speaker 3: and because she shared it, guess what, her whole world exploded.
- 16:58Speaker 3: She just wanted to be an actress. And then these
- 17:00Speaker 3: club owners started calling and say, hey, how about you
- 17:03Speaker 3: come over here and grab this check, and she resisted it.
- 17:06Speaker 3: She resisted it because she wants to be an actress.
- 17:08Speaker 3: She had the craft that she wanted to do, but
- 17:10Speaker 3: then she realized she could be funny. Now she's touring
- 17:13Speaker 3: the country. She just wrapped up a very successful tour
- 17:16Speaker 3: because guess what, she's about to start acting again. She's
- 17:20Speaker 3: about to start doing her thing that she wanted to
- 17:21Speaker 3: do all her life. But in the meantime, Ms Brown
- 17:26Speaker 3: is making multiple streams of income. Let me ask you
- 17:28Speaker 3: some questions, Miss Brown, Do you have merchandise?
- 17:33Speaker 4: Not anymore?
- 17:35Speaker 1: So I know you just don't do it anymore.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Well, you know, sometimes when you try to just you
- 17:41Speaker 4: have a bright idea to do stuff, it's not always
- 17:44Speaker 4: right the first time. It's not always Okay, let's talk about.
- 17:48Speaker 3: The bad idea because that money making Conversation masterclass, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 3: because I always tell people I want people to hear
- 17:53Speaker 3: what I did wrong so they can do it right.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So you're successful. You got one point three million Instagram
- 17:58Speaker 1: follow You got over seven hundred thousand followers on Miss
- 18:01Speaker 1: Turn Up. So it's a lot of things you're doing right.
- 18:04Speaker 1: So what did you do wrong in the merchandising merchandising.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Side of this that you should share with us so
- 18:09Speaker 3: we can do it right moving forward.
- 18:13Speaker 4: You know, I said, I feel like I wasn't being original.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I was.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I took, I took, you know, I said, rent do
- 18:20Speaker 4: was like what everybody would say. They would say whenever
- 18:22Speaker 4: they saw me. They would say rand dude. So I
- 18:24Speaker 4: had some rent new hats made, and I only got
- 18:27Speaker 4: a couple at a time because I would tell myself,
- 18:30Speaker 4: nobody's gonna buy these, man, no one's gonna you know,
- 18:33Speaker 4: I didn't really believe in myself the way other people
- 18:36Speaker 4: were believing in me, because I was still just at
- 18:39Speaker 4: a disbelief that people cared enough to even come to
- 18:42Speaker 4: my shows. So I only got a certain amount made.
- 18:45Speaker 4: And obviously I think I had got like a couple
- 18:47Speaker 4: of hundred. Obviously they all sold out. They sold out,
- 18:51Speaker 4: and I was really overwhelmed, and I told myself I
- 18:53Speaker 4: was going to change the design and then and then
- 18:56Speaker 4: I was like, okay, well, I'm just gonna sell. I'm
- 18:58Speaker 4: just gonna sell posters, and said, so I had posters
- 19:00Speaker 4: and I would just sign those and I would give
- 19:02Speaker 4: them away. But I kind of felt funny about charging
- 19:06Speaker 4: my people for everything because I'm there. You're going to
- 19:10Speaker 4: spend all this money there?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Can I help you out here?
- 19:13Speaker 3: You're not supposed to be out there selling nothing? Okay,
- 19:16Speaker 3: See are you out there selling stuff or you don't
- 19:18Speaker 3: want selling stuff, or you have somebody else selling it
- 19:20Speaker 3: for you.
- 19:21Speaker 4: No, I would be out there.
- 19:23Speaker 1: That's the problem.
- 19:25Speaker 4: The whole meet and greet will be a thing.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, see meet and greet? What they do to this
- 19:28Speaker 3: how the meet and greek really supposed to work. They
- 19:31Speaker 3: go over there and buy. You're nowhere near the by,
- 19:34Speaker 3: and when they come over you, they're meeting you after
- 19:36Speaker 3: they made the buy.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And see that way, that's.
- 19:39Speaker 3: No guilt because the only way they gonna see you
- 19:41Speaker 3: after they made the buy. See, that's the whole part
- 19:43Speaker 3: of the process. You got to you gotta have one, two, three,
- 19:46Speaker 3: four step Cause I've been doing this a long time.
- 19:48Speaker 3: So when I say there's a system to it, because reasons,
- 19:51Speaker 3: I know there should be merchandise. Merchandise involved because you
- 19:54Speaker 3: have characters. If you have characters, that means that you
- 19:57Speaker 3: have to sit down and go what is my what
- 20:00Speaker 3: is my structure? Who who's managing me? Not saying that
- 20:03Speaker 3: you don't have management, because I don't even say that,
- 20:05Speaker 3: I will not ever say that. I would just say
- 20:08Speaker 3: it's all about structure and what you're trying to accomplish.
- 20:10Speaker 3: You have a great PR firm, That's how we met,
- 20:13Speaker 3: so I know you got that long lock. But when
- 20:15Speaker 3: it comes to merchandise, that's that mailbox money, that's that money.
- 20:18Speaker 3: They go online, they click your website, they buy that
- 20:21Speaker 3: that cap, they buy whatever you want to buy, and
- 20:24Speaker 3: then they get to wear and they guess what, that's
- 20:26Speaker 3: marketing your brand beyond you.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Absolutely, So yeah, I'm not gonna.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Bring you on the show because, like I said, I
- 20:37Speaker 3: am so you know, when in this business, I've been
- 20:41Speaker 3: fortunate to meet a lot of superstars. So when I
- 20:43Speaker 3: met them, they were superstar. They were very talented people
- 20:46Speaker 3: who are superstars today.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And they all were like you.
- 20:49Speaker 3: They all had a vision that was tied to their gift,
- 20:53Speaker 3: and they took that gift that God gave them and
- 20:56Speaker 3: they worked hard.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I'll tell you something. I always tell people that.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Go show you fortunate to either build a lot of
- 21:01Speaker 3: great careers or have been around people who are talents
- 21:04Speaker 3: who are not great. I always tell people, you cannot
- 21:06Speaker 3: win a Kentucky Derby with a mirror. Okay, they got
- 21:08Speaker 3: to be thoroughbreds. They got to be able to be
- 21:10Speaker 3: able to run that race. And that's what you are.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You a thoroughbred. And I know from my background research
- 21:17Speaker 3: on you, you're willing to do the work. So what
- 21:20Speaker 3: is the big goal for you?
- 21:21Speaker 1: My friend?
- 21:23Speaker 4: Honestly? And this is and I tell people this and
- 21:27Speaker 4: they think it's funny, but I say that when I
- 21:31Speaker 4: can no longer do all the things that I have
- 21:35Speaker 4: to be attractive for pretty, for whatever, and I want
- 21:39Speaker 4: to be behind the scenes. You know. Writing is probably
- 21:42Speaker 4: one of my first loves because I used to journal
- 21:44Speaker 4: a lot when I was young, and I used to
- 21:46Speaker 4: write poetry as a child, and you know, as a
- 21:49Speaker 4: teenager when I started like, you know, getting into relationships
- 21:52Speaker 4: and things like that. So writing is probably one of
- 21:56Speaker 4: my first loves up there with acting and things. So
- 21:59Speaker 4: but I noticed that, you know, being an attractive black female,
- 22:04Speaker 4: you know, they don't want you to do all the thing.
- 22:07Speaker 5: You know.
- 22:07Speaker 4: But when I'm no longer able to do that, and
- 22:11Speaker 4: I'm playing somebody's mama, and and i just want to
- 22:16Speaker 4: just produce and direct, which I'm I'm already not directing yet,
- 22:20Speaker 4: but I've already been producing in things. So well, you've been.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Producing all your life. You've been writing all your life,
- 22:27Speaker 3: you know. So that's what I get from these characters
- 22:29Speaker 3: you've created, you know, because they came from somewhere. They
- 22:32Speaker 3: came from your imagination. But you had to write things.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:35Speaker 3: You have to get these beats, these rhythms and other
- 22:37Speaker 3: for they to be manufactured into consistency. Because a lot
- 22:41Speaker 3: of people think that it's off the top of your
- 22:42Speaker 3: head because you do it so well. But this is
- 22:44Speaker 3: something that you've been working on, You've been developing over
- 22:47Speaker 3: the years. And I would tell you this from a person.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I started out doing stand up comedy, and I did
- 22:52Speaker 3: deaf Jam. I did all the comedy shows and and
- 22:56Speaker 3: but writing. When I started writing, my first writing assignment
- 22:59Speaker 3: was on Me and Boars with Steve Harvey, and then
- 23:01Speaker 3: I did The Parents, who was Robert Townsend, and then
- 23:04Speaker 3: They'd all City or Hall sitcom. And then I did
- 23:07Speaker 3: Sister Sister Tia Tamara Moori, and then I did Jamie
- 23:11Speaker 3: Fox Show. I was coll executive to do so on
- 23:14Speaker 3: that show. And then I was a consultant producer on
- 23:16Speaker 3: The Parkers with Monique and so that whole structure changed
- 23:21Speaker 3: my life because it allowed me to true power. You know,
- 23:24Speaker 3: I don't care what anybody says. To be able to
- 23:27Speaker 3: convince somebody thousands of people and in some cases millions
- 23:32Speaker 3: of people to come back that following week, on that
- 23:35Speaker 3: same time slot on that day, it was really powerful.
- 23:38Speaker 3: And I realized that that's pretty amazing. And it's pretty
- 23:42Speaker 3: amazing for people to come to a comedy club and
- 23:45Speaker 3: you sell it out, they walk on stage and they
- 23:47Speaker 3: waiting on you. That's amazing too. But you have the ability,
- 23:51Speaker 3: Miss Brown, to be able to do both.
- 23:52Speaker 1: And I would.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Recommend that you don't let anybody stop you from pursuing
- 23:57Speaker 3: that because you have been You've been, You've been dreams
- 24:00Speaker 3: me about this.
- 24:00Speaker 1: All your life.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I didn't God just gave me a lot of gifts
- 24:04Speaker 3: and I and somehow I stumble upon being a very
- 24:06Speaker 3: talented comedian and I'm a hustler. So you give me
- 24:09Speaker 3: my foot in the door. I'm gonna crack that door
- 24:11Speaker 3: wide open and see what's on the other side. I'm
- 24:13Speaker 3: not afraid. I'm not afraid, miss Brown. And so my
- 24:17Speaker 3: whole thing with you is that don't be afraid. And
- 24:19Speaker 3: I know I'm not saying anything because you never show
- 24:21Speaker 3: fear in your life, but you are special. And I
- 24:24Speaker 3: gotta just say that to you, not like you don't
- 24:26Speaker 3: know it, but you know, sometimes you get out there
- 24:29Speaker 3: and just to be grinding and and there's a lot
- 24:31Speaker 3: of haters out there and they get well, she's do you.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Know, I just stand up.
- 24:34Speaker 3: They only comment in now because she got followers or whatever.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Ain't they laughing? Ain't they laughing? Ain't they laughing?
- 24:41Speaker 4: They laughing?
- 24:42Speaker 1: They laughing?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Come on, ain't they laughing? They want? They lying out
- 24:46Speaker 3: there about her T shirt? She't buy left for them.
- 24:48Speaker 3: That's what the problem is. That's why they're going because
- 24:50Speaker 3: they wanted to buy more. But she didn't know she
- 24:52Speaker 3: was that popular. So now she know now because she's
- 24:54Speaker 3: talking to Rashan mcdowal ' Sean mcdonaland show her the light.
- 24:57Speaker 3: They showed her light because you're gonna get a better logo.
- 25:00Speaker 3: You're gonna go to her website one day and she
- 25:02Speaker 3: gonna have all this Rent Dorough caps. She got rent
- 25:04Speaker 3: dude little the little little little top tops that they
- 25:08Speaker 3: do for the summer. She's gonna have that rent due
- 25:10Speaker 3: back there. She gotta rent dow Jerseys with the number one.
- 25:13Speaker 3: She's gonna have all that stuff. That's what you're gonna
- 25:15Speaker 3: do because you have money making conversation.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Multi thank you. I received that you.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Better because I believe in you.
