Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Biden Allows Iran to Attack Israel after Dems Blocked Emergency Funding
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:00Speaker 2: It is a special Sunday edition of Verdict with Senator
- 0:04Speaker 2: Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson with you, and I want to
- 0:06Speaker 2: let you know Monday's podcast is going to be very important.
- 0:09Speaker 1: After Israel was attacked by Iran.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I also want to remind you of what Senator Cruz
- 0:17Speaker 2: and I predict it was going to happen when Democrats
- 0:19Speaker 2: and the Biden administration abandon Israel and said no to
- 0:24Speaker 2: giving them funding and what they needed. When it came
- 0:26Speaker 2: to arms, Democrats voting against this, which is truly shocking.
- 0:31Speaker 1: That is part one. The other part about this that
- 0:34Speaker 1: we were.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Going to cover on Monday, and it's going to be
- 0:36Speaker 2: very important, is the fact that there were warnings from
- 0:39Speaker 2: Senator Cruz and others, you cannot give money to the
- 0:44Speaker 2: number one state sponsored terrorism in the world, Iran, and
- 0:47Speaker 2: that is exactly what Obama did, and it's exactly what
- 0:51Speaker 2: Joe Biden has done. We freed up billions of dollars,
- 0:55Speaker 2: billions of dollars that we allowed Iran to get their
- 0:58Speaker 2: hands on. We also talked about the Iranian oil embargo.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We've allowed Iran to get around those embargoes, to skirt
- 1:07Speaker 2: those embargoes, which is the part that is also extremely
- 1:10Speaker 2: shocking with everything that we're talking about today. So I'm
- 1:14Speaker 2: going to go back and I'm going to play for
- 1:15Speaker 2: you a podcast that we did that talked exactly about
- 1:19Speaker 2: Schumer and the Democrats blocking emergency funding for Israel. This
- 1:24Speaker 2: was the moment where Iran knew that they could attack Israel.
- 1:28Speaker 2: They realized that the president was weak and that the
- 1:31Speaker 2: President would not respond, and that the President was criticizing
- 1:35Speaker 2: Israel instead of criticizing Iran and Hamas and Hezbolah. This
- 1:41Speaker 2: again is an important pod that we did, and I
- 1:44Speaker 2: remind you you do not want to miss tomorrow Monday
- 1:47Speaker 2: Mornings as well. We will have all of the senator's
- 1:51Speaker 2: reaction to what just happened with Iran attacking Israel, not
- 1:54Speaker 2: through their proxies, directly attacking them. We'll have all of
- 1:58Speaker 2: that for you coming up up on Monday Mornings.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Pod.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Until then, take a listen to this podcast we did
- 2:05Speaker 2: about Chuck shim Er the Democrats blocking emergency funding to Israel,
- 2:09Speaker 2: which was the moment.
- 2:10Speaker 1: That I ran new that could get away with us.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I want to talk about this vote that happened where
- 2:18Speaker 2: every single Senate Democrat just voted to block aid to
- 2:23Speaker 2: Israel on a day when two hundred thousand plus came
- 2:27Speaker 2: to the steps of the capital to support Israel.
- 2:31Speaker 1: This was shocking that every one of them said no.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Well, that's exactly right. Today was a Momenta stay and look.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I spent this afternoon down at the mall with the
- 2:44Speaker 3: March for Israel, and we had hundreds of thousands of
- 2:48Speaker 3: people from all over America descend on Washington and stand
- 2:52Speaker 3: together for Israel, and it was inspirational. I spent a
- 2:54Speaker 3: lot of time down there just hugging people and encouraging
- 2:58Speaker 3: them and taking pictures and saying thank you and the
- 3:02Speaker 3: spirit of unity. I mean, we've seen over the last month,
- 3:06Speaker 3: the nastiness we've seen, the vicious anti Semitism we've seen,
- 3:10Speaker 3: the hatred for Israel we've seen has been really horrifying.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And the March for Israel was spectacular to be a
- 3:18Speaker 3: part of. And then after that I came back to
- 3:22Speaker 3: Capitol Hill and a group of us, a group of
- 3:25Speaker 3: Senators decided, Okay, enough is enough. We are going to
- 3:30Speaker 3: force a vote on military aid to Israel right now.
- 3:35Speaker 3: So as you know what happened. The House of Representatives
- 3:39Speaker 3: took up and passed a clean Israel aid bill fourteen
- 3:45Speaker 3: billion dollars in emergency military aid for Israel. The Biden
- 3:51Speaker 3: White House wants to tie that military aid to Ukraine
- 3:55Speaker 3: and also more broadly, to their efforts to increase illegal immigration.
- 4:01Speaker 3: They call it, in a very Orwellian term, border security funding,
- 4:05Speaker 3: but it's designed not to secure the border at all,
- 4:07Speaker 3: instead to increase illegal immigration, to accelerate the time for processing,
- 4:13Speaker 3: to spend more money to putting illegal immigrants on trains
- 4:17Speaker 3: and planes and buses to send them to every city
- 4:21Speaker 3: in America. And so the Biden White House is cynically
- 4:26Speaker 3: trying to tie is relaid to all of that. The
- 4:29Speaker 3: House of Representatives did the right thing, something we've called
- 4:31Speaker 3: for on this podcast. Break Israel funding off and vote
- 4:35Speaker 3: for it free and clear. Now, when the House did that,
- 4:39Speaker 3: they decided to be fiscally responsible. They decided to pay
- 4:42Speaker 3: for it. I think that's the right thing to do.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And so the way they paid for the fourteen billion
- 4:47Speaker 3: dollars is rescinding funding that the Democrats had previously passed
- 4:52Speaker 3: into law to hire eighty seven thousand new IRS agents
- 4:56Speaker 3: designed to harass small businesses middle class families to be
- 5:02Speaker 3: used as an army to go after the enemies of
- 5:05Speaker 3: this administration.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So now you mentioned the vote and the numbers here,
- 5:12Speaker 2: there's some people that are going to be looking at
- 5:13Speaker 2: these numbers. It's very, very tight this vote. It was
- 5:16Speaker 2: obviously a party line vote. How on earth is it
- 5:19Speaker 2: that not a single Democrat would come over and stand
- 5:22Speaker 2: with Israel on this or was this just a hey,
- 5:24Speaker 2: we as a democratic party, we always vote together even if.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It screws Israel.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I mean, this is one of the most tone, tone
- 5:31Speaker 2: death votes I've ever witnessed, while there's literally two hundred
- 5:35Speaker 2: thousand plus people on the mall standing with Israel in
- 5:38Speaker 2: a nonpartisan way.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Look, this vote was a demonstration of what I describe
- 5:44Speaker 3: at great length in my brand new book Unwoke, How
- 5:47Speaker 3: to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America. By the way, if
- 5:50Speaker 3: you haven't bought it, gone to Amazon right now and
- 5:52Speaker 3: buy the book. Because this vote today was a manifestation
- 5:55Speaker 3: of that today's Democrats they don't give a damn about substance.
- 5:59Speaker 3: They care about power, and because the corrupt corporate media
- 6:05Speaker 3: will not report on what they say, they are not
- 6:08Speaker 3: accountable for what they do. So here's what happens This
- 6:10Speaker 3: is one of the moments where this podcast is unusual
- 6:14Speaker 3: because I want to bring you inside the procedural maneuvering
- 6:18Speaker 3: in the Senate in a way that frankly, there's no
- 6:20Speaker 3: other news source that provides that. So I came back
- 6:24Speaker 3: from the march for Israel about four pm on the
- 6:27Speaker 3: Capitol and I got a text as I was driving
- 6:29Speaker 3: back to the Capital from Roger Marshall, Roger Marshall, Republican
- 6:33Speaker 3: from Kansas, good friend. He said, a bunch of us
- 6:36Speaker 3: are meeting to try to force a vote on Israel
- 6:38Speaker 3: funding right now. So I deviated. I was going to
- 6:41Speaker 3: go to my office. I deviated to go to the
- 6:43Speaker 3: Senate floor. I was there with other Conservatives, people like
- 6:47Speaker 3: Mike Lee, who is my closest friend in the Senate,
- 6:49Speaker 3: a number of others, and we were strategizing about how
- 6:52Speaker 3: we can force a vote, and in particular, there's a
- 6:55Speaker 3: procedural method called filing a rogue cloture petition, and what
- 7:00Speaker 3: that means is any sixteen senators can file a cloture petition,
- 7:07Speaker 3: which is a petition to force a vote on something
- 7:10Speaker 3: and can basically hijack the Senate floor from the Senate
- 7:14Speaker 3: Majority leader and it is a procedural mechanism that is very,
- 7:18Speaker 3: very rarely used because both Schumer and McConnell hate it.
- 7:25Speaker 3: So McConnell had repeatedly urged us do not use this
- 7:28Speaker 3: mechanism because the majority leader should be able to control
- 7:32Speaker 3: the entire agenda and it's a mistake to let the
- 7:35Speaker 3: minority hijack the agenda. Well, look, I understand that procedural point.
- 7:39Speaker 3: It's not crazy as a day to day operation of
- 7:42Speaker 3: the Senate.
- 7:43Speaker 1: But here.
- 7:45Speaker 3: The House had passed emergency military aid for Israel and
- 7:50Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer had announced we will not vote on it.
- 7:53Speaker 3: He would block the Senate from voting on it. It
- 7:56Speaker 3: was literally Schumer was single handedly preventing a vote on
- 7:59Speaker 3: emergence see military aid for Israel. And it's because he
- 8:03Speaker 3: wants Number one, he's not willing to give up the
- 8:06Speaker 3: funding for the army of eighty seven thousand new IRS agents.
- 8:10Speaker 3: He values harassing the political enemies of the White House
- 8:13Speaker 3: more than military aid for Israel. And number two, he
- 8:17Speaker 3: wants to tie it to all the political priorities of
- 8:19Speaker 3: Democrats and hold that military aid hostage.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Let me ask you this question about this funding, because
- 8:26Speaker 2: this is a fight that we did not see everybody
- 8:30Speaker 2: jumped on the S bandwagon. When it came to military
- 8:32Speaker 2: aid for Ukraine, Democrats had no problem jumping on that
- 8:37Speaker 2: as well, And you didn't have to figure out a
- 8:40Speaker 2: way to try to bring this vote up. Do what
- 8:44Speaker 2: is the logic when you're talking to Democrats, your colleagues
- 8:47Speaker 2: and the Senate. How can they be so hell bent
- 8:50Speaker 2: and gung ho on unlimited funding for Ukraine but no
- 8:54Speaker 2: on something as simple as defending our actual ally Israel.
- 8:58Speaker 3: So Democrats number one one recognized that all the Republicans
- 9:02Speaker 3: strongly support military aid for Israel. So they see that
- 9:06Speaker 3: cynically as a political opportunity. Good, this is something where
- 9:09Speaker 3: Republicans want, Republicans want, let's hold it hostage. But number two, listen,
- 9:13Speaker 3: Democrats are worried about their left flank. They're getting blasted
- 9:17Speaker 3: by the anti Israel, anti Zionist, radical, anti Semitic left
- 9:22Speaker 3: the squad, and so they're all nervous. And so what
- 9:25Speaker 3: ended up happening is why Schumer didn't want to vote.
- 9:27Speaker 3: He didn't want to force Democrats to vote on it,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and he felt like he had exquisite power. Now Schumer
- 9:33Speaker 3: screwed up the majority leader can prevent what we did today.
- 9:37Speaker 3: The way the majority leader prevents what we did today
- 9:40Speaker 3: is he files a pending motion to proceed to something,
- 9:44Speaker 3: and under the Senate procedural rules, that pending motion to
- 9:47Speaker 3: proceed to some bill blocks another motion to proceed to
- 9:51Speaker 3: a bill. And so that's something when Senate Republicans had
- 9:54Speaker 3: a majority, Mitch McConnell did every day. He did that
- 9:57Speaker 3: to block the Democrats from doing what we did. Schumer
- 10:00Speaker 3: was lazy, he didn't do that. So the floor was
- 10:02Speaker 3: wide open. And so what happened is a group of us,
- 10:05Speaker 3: we had eleven Senate Republicans, we met off the floor
- 10:08Speaker 3: of the Senate. You needed eleven to force a voice vote,
- 10:11Speaker 3: and so we gathered there on the side of the
- 10:13Speaker 3: Senate and we're talking about, Okay, we're going to force this,
- 10:16Speaker 3: and we're doing this surreptitiously. This is like four pm
- 10:19Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. We then all went to the Senate cloak
- 10:23Speaker 3: room and we were waiting and actually John Kennedy was
- 10:25Speaker 3: giving an extended speech and we wanted Roger Marshall as
- 10:29Speaker 3: the one who had the idea initially to go forward.
- 10:31Speaker 3: So Mike Lee and I and others were backing Roger,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and we needed to get the floor because the Senate
- 10:37Speaker 3: Democrats were starting to get wind of what we were
- 10:39Speaker 3: trying to do. And at one point, Chuck Schumer's lead
- 10:44Speaker 3: floor aid on the Senate, his sort of lead staffer.
- 10:48Speaker 3: He came and stuck his head in the Republican cloak
- 10:52Speaker 3: room and he looks around and he sees eleven of
- 10:54Speaker 3: us sitting there and he kind of looks around and
- 10:56Speaker 3: he doesn't quite say this out loud, but everything is
- 10:59Speaker 3: in his express goes oh shit.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Like he knew this.
- 11:04Speaker 3: He had figured out what we were trying to do,
- 11:07Speaker 3: and so we went Actually, Ran Paula was part of
- 11:09Speaker 3: the group. Rand went down to John Kennedy was giving
- 11:11Speaker 3: a speech in another matter, and Ran interrupted him. He's like,
- 11:14Speaker 3: John Kennedy's on c SPAN giving a speech and Rand said, John,
- 11:17Speaker 3: we really need you to stop right now. It's an emergency.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Please stop. And John didn't even know what we were doing,
- 11:22Speaker 3: but he's like, uh, okay, so he stops. Roger Marshall
- 11:26Speaker 3: goes down and he gets recognized. So getting recognized, once
- 11:29Speaker 3: you're recognized, you have the floor, you have power. And
- 11:33Speaker 3: so Roger goes down and he moves to proceed to
- 11:37Speaker 3: the House bill. So the House bill is what they passed.
- 11:40Speaker 3: It is fourteen billion dollars in emergency military funding for Israel,
- 11:44Speaker 3: paid for by rescinding the IRS additional funding for eighty
- 11:48Speaker 3: seven thousand agents. Once he did that, the Democrats are
- 11:51Speaker 3: in panic. They're like, oh, crappo, crapple, crapple, crap. And
- 11:54Speaker 3: so Raphael Warnock, the Democrat from Georgia, he was down
- 11:57Speaker 3: there now. Procedurally, once Roger moves to proceed to the bill,
- 12:03Speaker 3: he has relinquished the floor. It's a jump ball at
- 12:06Speaker 3: that point because to move to proceed to it, the
- 12:09Speaker 3: presiding officer instructs the clerk to read the title of
- 12:12Speaker 3: the bill. So Roger no longer has the floor.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Can I ask you a cynical question real quick? Yes,
- 12:17Speaker 2: how many senators have no idea how this works? What
- 12:22Speaker 2: you're describing right now?
- 12:23Speaker 1: I become ab out ninety Okay.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I was just That's the reason why this story is
- 12:27Speaker 2: amazing to me, because I'm like, I bet you the
- 12:29Speaker 2: majority of the senators that you serve with don't know
- 12:33Speaker 2: this is the rules of the Senate and how this
- 12:35Speaker 2: would work.
- 12:36Speaker 3: No, No, it's only a handful of senators that understand
- 12:38Speaker 3: the rules. So Roger moves. When he makes the motion,
- 12:42Speaker 3: he's relinquished the floor. And so what happened. Then, as
- 12:45Speaker 3: soon as the clerk has read the title of the bill,
- 12:47Speaker 3: Roger says, mister President, the presiding officer was Senator Welch
- 12:51Speaker 3: from Vermont. He was there. Roger calls out mister president.
- 12:55Speaker 3: But Raphael Warnock, liberal Democrat from Georgia, calls out mister
- 12:57Speaker 3: President as well. Now, the presiding officer, when you got
- 12:59Speaker 3: momultiple people asking me recognized has the option to pick
- 13:03Speaker 3: who to decide. And so because he's an Democrat, Welch
- 13:06Speaker 3: recognizes Warnock. Warnock stands up and says, I suggest the
- 13:12Speaker 3: absence of a quorum. Now what that means This is
- 13:15Speaker 3: getting in the weeds. But this is one of the
- 13:17Speaker 3: cool things about this podcast. It takes you inside the Senate.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Under the Senate rules, when any senator suggests the absence
- 13:24Speaker 3: of a quorum, there is a mandatory quorum call. What
- 13:27Speaker 3: it means is there are not enough senators on the
- 13:30Speaker 3: floor right now to conduct business. It is a way
- 13:33Speaker 3: to freeze the Senate, to lock it in paralysis. Because
- 13:38Speaker 3: once you're in a quorum call, you can do nothing else.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And so Warnock pushed us into a quorum call. At
- 13:48Speaker 3: that point, we're there, and there are more than eleven
- 13:50Speaker 3: of us that are there. We proceeded over the next
- 13:53Speaker 3: hour periodically, one after the other. We'd grab the microphone.
- 13:55Speaker 3: We'd stand up and say, mister President, I ask unanimous
- 13:59Speaker 3: consent to vitiate the quorum call. That's a way to say,
- 14:01Speaker 3: end the quorum call. Let's vote on the stamp thing,
- 14:04Speaker 3: and over and over you We did this like thirty times.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Democrats would object. They'd say object, I object, I object.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Now you can do that forever. You can keep They
- 14:13Speaker 3: could keep us in a quorum call. But it meant
- 14:15Speaker 3: they were stuck, and so we were brainstorming, Okay, how
- 14:19Speaker 3: can they avoid a vote. We went up to him
- 14:21Speaker 3: and said, look, what we want is a roll call
- 14:23Speaker 3: vote where every senator has to go on record do
- 14:27Speaker 3: you support funding for Israel or do you oppose funding
- 14:31Speaker 3: for Israel. After about two hours and I cannot overstate
- 14:34Speaker 3: ben how upset Chuck Schumer was, how upset the Democrats were.
- 14:39Speaker 3: We blindsided them. They did not expect this. This hit
- 14:42Speaker 3: them out of nowhere. And then they finally said, screw it,
- 14:46Speaker 3: We're going to force through the vote. So we voted,
- 14:50Speaker 3: and it was a straight party line vote. So understand,
- 14:55Speaker 3: every single Democrat voted against emergency military funding for Israel.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer, who calls him the defender of Israel, that's
- 15:06Speaker 3: what he calls himself, voted against emergency military funding for Israel.
- 15:13Speaker 3: John Tester, who's running for reelection in Montana, voted against
- 15:17Speaker 3: emergency funding for Israel. Shared Brown, who's running for reelection
- 15:21Speaker 3: in Ohio, voted against emergency funding for Israel. Bob Casey,
- 15:25Speaker 3: who's running for reelection in Pennsylvania, voted against emergency funding
- 15:30Speaker 3: for Israel. Jackie Rosen, who's running for reelection in Nevada,
- 15:35Speaker 3: voted against emergency funding for Israel. Tammy Baldwin who's running
- 15:40Speaker 3: for reelection in Wisconsin, voted against emergency funding for Israel.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And the amazing thing has been it was a straight
- 15:46Speaker 3: party line vote, which means every single one of those
- 15:49Speaker 3: Democrats I named was the deciding vote. Literally, if one
- 15:54Speaker 3: Democrat had voted with us, this was a fifty vote threshold,
- 15:58Speaker 3: so one Democrat could have pass this, but every Democrat
- 16:03Speaker 3: voted no. And it was a moment of clarity, and
- 16:07Speaker 3: I think a moment of clarity that will come down
- 16:09Speaker 3: to the election next year where the Democrats have made
- 16:12Speaker 3: clear that partisan politics matters more to them than standing
- 16:17Speaker 3: with Israel.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Right now, Sena, you mentioned that any one Democrat could
- 16:22Speaker 2: have moved the pendulum here and funded Israel. And if
- 16:26Speaker 2: you don't have to name names per se, but are
- 16:28Speaker 2: you shocked. I mean, there are some Democrats that I
- 16:32Speaker 2: truly believe are quote friends of Israel. I am shocked
- 16:37Speaker 2: at not one of them did the right thing here
- 16:40Speaker 2: and truly stood with Israel. They just said no party
- 16:44Speaker 2: over even Israel. And what is referred to is emergency funding,
- 16:49Speaker 2: meaning they need it.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Now.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Look, this was I think a spectacularly foolish vote by Democrats.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I mean, you had Kirsen Cinema was the deciding vote
- 16:57Speaker 3: against emergency aid to Israel. Bob Menendez, who right now
- 17:02Speaker 3: is in the midst of a very serious indictment and
- 17:05Speaker 3: a serious scandal, but he's on the ballot November. He
- 17:08Speaker 3: was the deciding vote against emergency aid to Israel. Dick Blumenthal,
- 17:12Speaker 3: Ben Carden, all sorts of Democrats who hold themselves out
- 17:17Speaker 3: as defenders of Israel, every one of them. Literally one
- 17:21Speaker 3: of them could say, you know what, we need emergency
- 17:24Speaker 3: A to Israel now. And I don't care what my
- 17:26Speaker 3: party leadership says. I'm not going to do it. But
- 17:28Speaker 3: they decided they cracked the whip, and I'll tell you
- 17:32Speaker 3: on the flip side. Listen, it was not easy to
- 17:36Speaker 3: hold every Republican. So I was down on the Senate
- 17:38Speaker 3: floor for about two and a half hours this afternoon
- 17:40Speaker 3: and I was whipping Republicans and listen, Republican leadership was pissed.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I cannot overstate how angry they were. And the reason
- 17:49Speaker 3: is it is our leadership said, listen, if you do
- 17:52Speaker 3: this when Republicans have the majority, Democrats will use this
- 17:57Speaker 3: tool to try to hijack the floor. And that's a
- 18:00Speaker 3: reasonable procedural point.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I get that.
- 18:02Speaker 3: It's not crazy. That being said, I think the crisis
- 18:06Speaker 3: in Israel is so dire, the position of the Democrats
- 18:09Speaker 3: is so indefensible that it made sense to force and
- 18:12Speaker 3: so we did it. But when we're voting on it,
- 18:14Speaker 3: there were a number of Republicans close to leadership who
- 18:18Speaker 3: delayed their vote and delayed their vote and delay their vote,
- 18:22Speaker 3: and I was talking to them personally and I was saying, please,
- 18:25Speaker 3: please vote to do the right thing, because if we
- 18:28Speaker 3: ended up with a vote where you had all the
- 18:30Speaker 3: Democrats and two or three or five Republicans, it would
- 18:34Speaker 3: totally blur the distinction. They could say there's a bipartisan
- 18:37Speaker 3: vote against this procedural game. That's what the Democrats would say.
- 18:42Speaker 3: And so I was begging Republicans, please, this is something
- 18:46Speaker 3: I get. You don't like the procedural mechanism that we
- 18:49Speaker 3: forced this vote.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But we did.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Once we did, let's actually be united and be team players.
- 18:58Speaker 3: And miraculously, look, it was close. And I was talking staffers,
- 19:02Speaker 3: I was talking to members, I was lobbying, I was
- 19:04Speaker 3: on the in the well of the Senate, working vote
- 19:07Speaker 3: by vote by vote. We got every single Republican one
- 19:11Speaker 3: hundred percent. That was a big deal because it means
- 19:14Speaker 3: that each and every Democrat. There is not a Democrat
- 19:17Speaker 3: in the Senate who was not the deciding vote on
- 19:20Speaker 3: this motion. And that is a big deal for clarity.
- 19:23Speaker 3: And I want to underscore something Ben you asked a
- 19:26Speaker 3: minute ago, why would Democrats do this? And part of
- 19:29Speaker 3: me was shocked by the way. Joe Manchett is not
- 19:32Speaker 3: running for reelection. He voted against military funding for Israel.
- 19:35Speaker 3: He could have been the deciding vote, but he figured,
- 19:37Speaker 3: I guess, screw it, I'm leaving the Senates. Who cares
- 19:41Speaker 3: part of the reason Democrats do this while we're voting.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I looked up in the Senate gallery. There were four
- 19:47Speaker 3: reporters up in the Senate Gallery. We'll see how many
- 19:52Speaker 3: headlines are published about Senate Democrats block military funding for Israel,
- 20:00Speaker 3: But my guess is very, very few. We went out
- 20:02Speaker 3: and tried to talk to reporters. I didn't see the
- 20:05Speaker 3: six o'clock news tonight, so I don't know this for
- 20:07Speaker 3: a fact, but I'd be willing to bet you one
- 20:10Speaker 3: hundred dollars right now. And I'm cheap. I don't bet
- 20:13Speaker 3: one hundred dollars.
- 20:13Speaker 1: On many things, that's right.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I bet you one hundred dollars that none of the
- 20:18Speaker 3: major networks covered that Senate Democrats tonight blocked funding for Israel.
- 20:23Speaker 3: And this is why. Look, this is the point in
- 20:25Speaker 3: my book Unwoke, which you ought to go online and
- 20:27Speaker 3: buy right now. This is why I focus so much
- 20:31Speaker 3: on the corrupt corporate media. Because the corrupt corporate media,
- 20:35Speaker 3: they're not covering news. They are partisan advocates. They don't
- 20:40Speaker 3: want aid to Israel to pass. They are cheering for Hamas.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Many of the corrupt corporate media are openly cheering for Hamas.
- 20:48Speaker 3: And so Democrats can cast spectacularly foolish votes and know
- 20:53Speaker 3: their constituents will never know about it. Dick Blumenthal, Democrat
- 20:56Speaker 3: from Connecticut, he holds himself out as one of the
- 20:59Speaker 3: leading defenders of Israel. Well, he is absolutely certain when
- 21:03Speaker 3: he goes to Connecticut none of his voters will know
- 21:06Speaker 3: that he was the deciding vote that blocked emergency military
- 21:10Speaker 3: aid to Israel. Why because the corrupt corporate media won't
- 21:14Speaker 3: tell them.
- 21:16Speaker 2: You, Senator, have said this several times, and it's a
- 21:19Speaker 2: very accurate statement. You say, if lawyers never asked a
- 21:22Speaker 2: question of somebody, if they don't already know the answer,
- 21:25Speaker 2: that rule applies, I think to taking things to the
- 21:28Speaker 2: for the Senate.
- 21:29Speaker 1: For a vote.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Right, don't call a vote if you don't know what
- 21:31Speaker 2: the outcome is gonna be. And yet this today seems
- 21:35Speaker 2: to be one of those incredibly authentic moments. Was it
- 21:39Speaker 2: inspired because of the two hundred thousand plus that came
- 21:42Speaker 2: to Capitol Hill to stand with Israel? And that's where
- 21:45Speaker 2: this kind of started where it was like, you know what,
- 21:46Speaker 2: we got to do something today, and let's just see
- 21:50Speaker 2: if we can get it done. And know we haven't
- 21:52Speaker 2: called everybody beforehand, and this is an organic moment in
- 21:56Speaker 2: the Senate.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Look for me, it certainly was. I can't speak to
- 22:00Speaker 3: the other Republican senators, but I came literally from the
- 22:03Speaker 3: march on Washington. I was down there hugging and supporting
- 22:06Speaker 3: so many incredible heroes and Jewish Americans who came from
- 22:11Speaker 3: all over the country to come to the mall to
- 22:13Speaker 3: stand in solidarity. And I came back and I heard
- 22:16Speaker 3: several of my colleagues were thinking of this, and I
- 22:18Speaker 3: was like, absolutely, let's go to the floor right now,
- 22:21Speaker 3: let's do it. And so I leaned in aggressively, and
- 22:24Speaker 3: I got to say it was striking. Number one, the
- 22:27Speaker 3: absolute panic among Senate Democrats was striking, but sadly the
- 22:31Speaker 3: panic among Senate Republican leadership. They didn't like that we
- 22:34Speaker 3: did this either, but I think it provided an absolute
- 22:37Speaker 3: moment of clarity. And let me be clear, what I
- 22:40Speaker 3: hoped would happen is that we would vote to provide
- 22:45Speaker 3: the military aide Israel. By the way, if one Democrat,
- 22:47Speaker 3: If even one if Bob Casey, if Jackie Rosen, if
- 22:52Speaker 3: John Tester is Shared Brown, if even one Democrat had
- 22:56Speaker 3: voted with us, this bill would have passed and we
- 23:00Speaker 3: would have sent it to Joe Biden's desk tonight. So
- 23:03Speaker 3: Joe Biden could have signed it this evening and sent
- 23:06Speaker 3: fourteen billion dollars to Israel Tuesday night.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I didn't know if that would happen. I actually wasn't
- 23:15Speaker 3: sure they could hold their votes. And part of the
- 23:18Speaker 3: reason they locked up the Florida quorum call for a
- 23:21Speaker 3: couple hours is I assumed they were whipping their votes.
- 23:24Speaker 3: They called the people that they thought were wobbly votes,
- 23:26Speaker 3: they said, okay, Schumer wants you to vote to screw Israel.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Are you okay with that? And I think every Democrat
- 23:32Speaker 3: said yep, good bye me, I'm good by that. And
- 23:36Speaker 3: it just I got to say, if the shoe were
- 23:39Speaker 3: on the other foot, if it were Republican leadership asking
- 23:41Speaker 3: Republicans to cast a vote like that, I wouldn't do it,
- 23:44Speaker 3: and a whole bunch of us wouldn't. And yet the Democrats.
- 23:49Speaker 3: This is where I cannot overstate the impact of the
- 23:52Speaker 3: corrupt corporate media. Part of the reason Republicans wouldn't do
- 23:54Speaker 3: it is our voters will know if we cast a
- 23:57Speaker 3: terrible vote.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it costs several senators their job the next election.
- 24:03Speaker 3: The Democrats feel utterly and completely immune. They know that
- 24:08Speaker 3: CNN has their back, they know that ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC.
- 24:13Speaker 3: They won't cover it, they won't report on it, they'll
- 24:15Speaker 3: ignore it, they'll bury it. And The New York Times
- 24:19Speaker 3: they're not going to cover it because they don't want
- 24:21Speaker 3: to cover it, because they're more interested in the left
- 24:25Speaker 3: wing partisan agenda than they are and actually covering the
- 24:30Speaker 3: news centa.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I want to move to another issue, and it deals
- 24:33Speaker 2: with Israel, but it's in a different capacity, and that
- 24:37Speaker 2: is the shock of anti Semitism on college campuses. MIT
- 24:42Speaker 2: now is facing backlash for not expelling anti Israel protesters
- 24:48Speaker 2: over their they what they refer to as visa issues.
- 24:53Speaker 2: They said they are originally threatened to expel these pro
- 24:57Speaker 2: Palace and in protesters, and then ow towards they're like, Okay,
- 25:01Speaker 2: we're gonna full we're gonna come back on this. We're
- 25:03Speaker 2: going to pull back on this, uh and say never mind,
- 25:07Speaker 2: because these people if we if we pull them from school,
- 25:09Speaker 2: it will have visa issues. Regardless of how extreme these
- 25:14Speaker 2: protesters were, this is shocking to see them coming back
- 25:19Speaker 2: from this. Yet that's exactly what now has happened at MIT.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Your reaction, well, listen, what happened at MIT was absolutely disgraceful.
- 25:28Speaker 3: MIT by any measure, is one of the finest educational
- 25:31Speaker 3: institutions on the face of the planet. It may be
- 25:34Speaker 3: the greatest scientific, technical uh university in the world. And
- 25:40Speaker 3: what has happened in the last several days is that
- 25:43Speaker 3: numerous Jewish students were forced to stay home from classes.
- 25:47Speaker 3: They could not attend classes. Why because anti Israel, anti
- 25:51Speaker 3: Semitic protesters threatened them, physically threatened them, and the students
- 25:56Speaker 3: said they felt that they felt unsafe. They that they
- 25:58Speaker 3: felt like going to class would endanger their personal safety.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Now that is insane and any normal university. If one
- 26:09Speaker 3: student threatens another student, threatens their safety and prevents them
- 26:12Speaker 3: from going to class, whoever makes that threat should be expelled.
- 26:16Speaker 3: If you are harassing Jewish students because you're an anti
- 26:20Speaker 3: Semite bigot, you should be expelled. And by the way,
- 26:23Speaker 3: to be clear, if someone was harassing Muslim students, and
- 26:26Speaker 3: preventing Muslim students from going to class. They should be expelled.
- 26:30Speaker 3: No student has a right to harass and threaten fellow students. Well,
- 26:34Speaker 3: what happened in mit Is is this harassment occurred and
- 26:39Speaker 3: Jewish students stayed home and the university administrators back to
- 26:45Speaker 3: wagh and refuse to take the natural step of expelling them.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Why because these rabbit anti Semitisms were there. Semites were
- 26:54Speaker 3: there on student visas and if they got expelled, they'd
- 26:56Speaker 3: get sent back home. And the university said, well, okay,
- 26:59Speaker 3: if if you were an American, we would punish you.
- 27:02Speaker 3: But because you're not an American, because you're a guest,
- 27:04Speaker 3: because we've welcomed you to our country to get an education,
- 27:07Speaker 3: you can conduct harassment and bigoting, bigoted, racist, threatened threatening
- 27:13Speaker 3: of other students, and we will just turn to blind
- 27:15Speaker 3: eye and give you a pat on the back.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It's CNN.
- 27:18Speaker 2: There truly seems to be a civil war inside of
- 27:20Speaker 2: CNN right now, because if you watch the morning show,
- 27:23Speaker 2: it's like all Hamas propaganda and anti Semitism. You watch
- 27:27Speaker 2: their primetime lineup at night, it goes right back to that.
- 27:30Speaker 2: There was a moment and I want to give credit
- 27:34Speaker 2: here to Jake Tapper. Jake Tapper had on an MIT
- 27:38Speaker 2: graduate student and let her tell her story to the world.
- 27:42Speaker 2: And I want you to hear what she had to say.
- 27:45Speaker 2: It was and I'm glad that he used his program
- 27:48Speaker 2: for good. You had the headline hate in America. MIT
- 27:51Speaker 2: students speaks out about anti Semitism on campus.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Listen to this.
- 27:56Speaker 4: As a Jewish student at MIT, do you feel safe
- 27:59Speaker 4: on campus? You know, honestly, Jake, in the past few weeks,
- 28:02Speaker 4: I have not felt safe on campus.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Why not?
- 28:05Speaker 4: So, you know, ever since October seventh, we've seen at
- 28:10Speaker 4: universities around the country that you know, the conflict that's
- 28:13Speaker 4: overseas has come to our home term, and we've had
- 28:17Speaker 4: a lot of rallies and events by an organization called
- 28:21Speaker 4: the Coalition Against Apartheid, which is the anti Israel group
- 28:23Speaker 4: on MIT's campus. And they, along with some local anti
- 28:30Speaker 4: Israel groups, have come to campus because MIT is an
- 28:33Speaker 4: open campus, which means that anybody can walk around and
- 28:36Speaker 4: you know, be on campus. So they together have done
- 28:40Speaker 4: protests on campus on the steps of Lobby seven, which
- 28:43Speaker 4: is the main entrance to MIT, and in front of
- 28:45Speaker 4: the Student Center.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And I mean people protest, but but what do they do?
- 28:51Speaker 1: What do they say that makes me feel unsafe?
- 28:54Speaker 4: So I guess part of it is the fact of
- 28:57Speaker 4: what they're saying. So when you're saying things like abalize
- 29:00Speaker 4: the end of Fada and use your two fists to
- 29:02Speaker 4: sacrifice everything for Palestine and one solution and to fada,
- 29:07Speaker 4: you know, we know what happened during the second ind
- 29:09Speaker 4: of Fada was suicide bombings and attacks against Israeli civilians
- 29:13Speaker 4: in Israel. But the other part of it is that
- 29:15Speaker 4: these people aren't just protesting outside and exercising the rights
- 29:19Speaker 4: for free speech, which I fully support as an American.
- 29:21Speaker 4: It's that they're going you know, they went to the
- 29:24Speaker 4: personal offices of a program that runs Israel internships on
- 29:28Speaker 4: MIT's campus, and they went to the offices of the
- 29:30Speaker 4: people who worked for this program, and they tried to
- 29:32Speaker 4: enter it. They were going from door to door trying
- 29:34Speaker 4: to unlock the doors, and the people who worked in
- 29:36Speaker 4: this office had no idea to what these students were
- 29:39Speaker 4: trying to do by trying to get into their office.
- 29:41Speaker 4: They were yelling. They were accusing them of apartheid, of
- 29:43Speaker 4: ethnic cleansing, of genocide, and it was a really frightening experience.
- 29:47Speaker 1: A really frightening experience.
- 29:49Speaker 2: You hear this student saying this, and yet this is
- 29:53Speaker 2: happening to them, and as you described a moment ago,
- 29:56Speaker 2: they said, if you keep doing this, we're going to
- 29:58Speaker 2: expel you. Then they said, oh, never mind, just kid,
- 30:00Speaker 2: you're just going to be in trouble, but you're not
- 30:02Speaker 2: going to get expelled because we don't want you to
- 30:03Speaker 2: lose your visa. That's in my Semitism and accepting this
- 30:07Speaker 2: type of abuse by these individuals.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Well, that's right. And let me quote from Fox News
- 30:13Speaker 3: had an article about this where they quoted conservative lawyer
- 30:16Speaker 3: Mari Maria Medvin and she said, quote, MIT is one
- 30:20Speaker 3: of the most prestigious universities in the US these days.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Foreigners make up about thirty percent of the MIT student body.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Jewish students, on the other hand, make up about six
- 30:33Speaker 3: percent of the MIT student body, a campus minority. So
- 30:37Speaker 3: think about it right now now. I will admit it
- 30:41Speaker 3: is somewhat concerning that thirty percent of the MI two
- 30:43Speaker 3: student body are foreigners, but especially if these are foreigners
- 30:47Speaker 3: that are vicious bigots, that are anti Semites, that are
- 30:49Speaker 3: willing to threaten her, harass and threaten physical violence against
- 30:53Speaker 3: their fellow students, their Jewish students, because they hate them
- 30:56Speaker 3: so much, they should be expelled. If you threaten physical
- 31:01Speaker 3: violence against the fellow student, if you block them from
- 31:05Speaker 3: going to class, that should be a no brainer reason
- 31:10Speaker 3: for expulsion. And the administrators. Look, why did the administrators
- 31:15Speaker 3: not expel them? And again this goes back to what
- 31:18Speaker 3: I talk about in my new book Unwoke. This is
- 31:21Speaker 3: cultural Marxism. The administrators, the cultural Marxist side with the
- 31:26Speaker 3: people they have decided are the victims, the Palestinians, over
- 31:30Speaker 3: the people. They have decided that they are the pressers,
- 31:33Speaker 3: the Jews. And so for the radical left, threats of
- 31:37Speaker 3: violence against Jews are okay, it is acceptable. And so
- 31:42Speaker 3: listen the fact that someone's on a student visa, they
- 31:45Speaker 3: ought to behave better, not worse. It shouldn't be the
- 31:48Speaker 3: case that Americans are held to stricter standards than foreigners
- 31:51Speaker 3: coming to study in our universities. And yet MIT says, well,
- 31:55Speaker 3: if we expelled you, you'd lose your student visa, So
- 31:58Speaker 3: we're not going to expel you. Please continue to harass
- 32:01Speaker 3: and threaten and threaten physical violence to our students, because
- 32:05Speaker 3: you know we the administrators don't give a damn about
- 32:08Speaker 3: the Jewish students because in the cultural Marxist world they're
- 32:12Speaker 3: the oppressors. So tech with them.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Yeah, to the heck with them, And I will say
- 32:16Speaker 2: it's we better stand up for these students and the
- 32:19Speaker 2: fact and hold these and I hope donors, I really
- 32:23Speaker 2: do and the people that give to these universities are
- 32:25Speaker 2: paying it.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Yes, yes, these universities are doing yes, yes, yes, absolutely right.
- 32:30Speaker 3: It's one of the things that is freaking universities out
- 32:33Speaker 3: is that donors are cut are cutting off the cash,
- 32:38Speaker 3: and that is it's the one thing that's getting them attention.
- 32:44Speaker 3: And listen, I want to actually quote from one of
- 32:51Speaker 3: the best known poems. First, they came for the socialists,
- 32:57Speaker 3: and I did not speak out because I was not
- 33:00Speaker 3: a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and
- 33:04Speaker 3: I did not speak out because I was not a
- 33:07Speaker 3: trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I
- 33:12Speaker 3: did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Then they came for me, and there was no one
- 33:21Speaker 3: left to speak out for me. Look, I think that
- 33:25Speaker 3: applies to our universities right now. If there's anyone at
- 33:28Speaker 3: a university, a student, a professor, an administrator who gives
- 33:33Speaker 3: a damn about equal rights, about protection, about stopping anti Semitism,
- 33:39Speaker 3: about stopping bigotry, about stopping hate. Speak out now. If
- 33:44Speaker 3: you're a donor and you write a check to these schools,
- 33:47Speaker 3: speak out now and say not one penny more until
- 33:51Speaker 3: you protect the students on our campus. You cannot give
- 33:55Speaker 3: in to the violent Marxist radicals and expect us to
- 34:00Speaker 3: continue to support these schools. This is a time for
- 34:03Speaker 3: choosing right.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Now, Senator.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Lastly, I want to play for you, and just so
- 34:08Speaker 2: people understand what's happening at MIT. This is just some
- 34:12Speaker 2: of the student videos have gone viral online. They're chanting
- 34:33Speaker 2: Infantada and the Jewish students are stuck inside, were physically
- 34:38Speaker 2: prevented from attending class by this hostile group of pro
- 34:41Speaker 2: Haamas and anti Israel MIT students that call themselves a CAAA.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Then another student came out and showed another video of
- 34:50Speaker 2: these massive protests, and this is what it sounded like, Senator.
- 35:07Speaker 2: They were doing this and they knew where many of
- 35:09Speaker 2: the Jewish students were when they went to these buildings
- 35:13Speaker 2: to protest, just to scare these Jewish students. I leave
- 35:19Speaker 2: everybody with that audio. And I want to get your
- 35:22Speaker 2: final words on this, because this is clearly organized, it's
- 35:26Speaker 2: being funded by someone.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Senator.
- 35:29Speaker 2: The MIT is what they refer to as an open
- 35:32Speaker 2: campus where outside groups can come in. This is orchestrated
- 35:37Speaker 2: by these extremists, anti Israel groups. Somebody has to be
- 35:41Speaker 2: paying for this, funding this, and then they are targeting
- 35:45Speaker 2: where the Jewish students are in these schools. And it's
- 35:48Speaker 2: not just MIT, this is happening on other college campuses.
- 35:52Speaker 3: So the Second Intifada in Israel was a series of
- 35:57Speaker 3: suicide bombings carried out by Palestinian the Sale and it resulted,
- 36:01Speaker 3: and it took place between nineteen eighty seven and nineteen
- 36:04Speaker 3: ninety three, and it had a combined casualty casualty figure
- 36:09Speaker 3: of roughly one thousand Israelis, three thousand Palestinians, and sixty
- 36:16Speaker 3: four foreign nationals. And so when these radicals are cheering
- 36:22Speaker 3: and chanting for another Intifada, they're calling for murdering more Jews, now,
- 36:27Speaker 3: mind you. On October seventh, we saw one thousand, two
- 36:30Speaker 3: hundred Israelis civilians targeted by Hamas death squads and murdered
- 36:35Speaker 3: because they are Israelis, and these protesters are chanting they
- 36:39Speaker 3: want another intefada. In other words, you haven't murdered enough Jews.
- 36:43Speaker 3: We want more Jews murdered. That's what they're chanting. And listen.
- 36:47Speaker 3: If you're a Jewish student at MIT or at another
- 36:50Speaker 3: one of these elite universities where these radical leftists have
- 36:53Speaker 3: taken over, it is understandable that you are afraid for
- 36:57Speaker 3: your own safety. This is disgraceful and every university that
- 37:00Speaker 3: allows this to happen is failing in their obligation to
- 37:04Speaker 3: keep their students safe. No student, everyone has a right
- 37:07Speaker 3: to free speech. No student has a right to threaten
- 37:11Speaker 3: physical violence against other students to prevent students from going
- 37:15Speaker 3: to class. And that's what these radicals are doing at
- 37:18Speaker 3: m I T and right now the mi T administration
- 37:21Speaker 3: is complicit in this terrorizing of Jewish students.
- 37:25Speaker 1: It's disgraceful.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Senator, It's always a pleasure, especially on shows like this
- 37:30Speaker 2: that I think are so important. I would ask all
- 37:32Speaker 2: of you listening please help spread the word by sharing
- 37:35Speaker 2: this podcast on your social media wherever you are right
- 37:39Speaker 2: it's a five sor review.
- 37:40Speaker 1: It helps us on the charts reach new listeners.
- 37:43Speaker 2: When they put the charts out on Apple and other services,
- 37:46Speaker 2: and most importantly, go out there and grab the Center's
- 37:50Speaker 2: new book. It is an incredible read for the holidays.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Unwoke.
- 37:53Speaker 2: It is out right now, and there's so much that
- 37:56Speaker 2: the Senator is talking about tonight that has really talked
- 37:58Speaker 2: about in this book.
- 37:59Speaker 1: I've read it. It's amazing. Makes you grab that on
- 38:02Speaker 1: Amazon
- 38:03Speaker 2: As well, The Centaer and I will see you back
- 38:05Speaker 2: here in a couple of days.
