- 2:11Speaker 1: everything right? Doc? Oh my goodness. I want you to
- 2:16Speaker 1: come right for me and introduce me everywhere I go.
- 2:20Speaker 1: How and you got something to say? Though? You have
- 2:25Speaker 1: something to say, You have a life to say. And
- 2:27Speaker 1: I want to talk about your life because you know,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I always look at people your youth, we do, we
- 2:32Speaker 1: don't see uh, you know, you're eighteen nineteen. You tell
- 2:35Speaker 1: us used to mention worth. Forty six is so far off.
- 2:38Speaker 1: You can't even conceptualize what it feels like to be
- 2:42Speaker 1: forty or sixty or and you look around and you
- 2:45Speaker 1: see people who are forty and sixty and you go,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I never you might not even say how I'm gonna
- 2:50Speaker 1: walk or what I'm gonna do, because we don't think
- 2:52Speaker 1: about preparing for retirement. Now, let's talk about your early life.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know, successful, married, happy, uh, two beautiful kids. How
- 3:02Speaker 1: was that life like for you? Oh? It was fabulous? Um,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know I am. I have three children and three grandchildren,
- 3:13Speaker 1: so you know I I, you know, really was living
- 3:17Speaker 1: a fabulous life. I had the career where I didn't
- 3:22Speaker 1: think I had a job because I was doing what
- 3:24Speaker 1: I love doing, uh, running the United Way, working in nonprofits,
- 3:30Speaker 1: helping create change, raising millions of dollars for various community initiatives,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and you know, had a real good, good marriage, um,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and things were going along for me great. I come
- 3:43Speaker 1: from a small town in New Jersey, and I grew
- 3:48Speaker 1: up in a community of adults. You know, ra Sean,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know, my sister, and I used to always think
- 3:53Speaker 1: that the adults in the community would go somewhere and
- 3:56Speaker 1: have a meeting on us, because they seemed to know
- 4:00Speaker 1: thing about us, and they gave us constant advice and
- 4:04Speaker 1: endless questions about how we were doing, and how are
- 4:08Speaker 1: our grades and how were we making it? And you know,
- 4:12Speaker 1: it was like this community consensus where everyone was interested
- 4:17Speaker 1: in our success. And I still today think even though
- 4:22Speaker 1: then I thought it was a big time conspiracy, but
- 4:25Speaker 1: what I know now is it was about adults in
- 4:29Speaker 1: a community caring. Until so much of my life's work
- 4:34Speaker 1: has been about trying to rebuild that community consensus that
- 4:41Speaker 1: many of us grew up in in black communities where
- 4:44Speaker 1: every adult, you know, it was a big Mama or
- 4:48Speaker 1: auntie or some Everyone cared about who we were and
- 4:53Speaker 1: what we would do. So that's the kind of environment
- 4:57Speaker 1: I grew up in and really shaped um my career,
- 5:02Speaker 1: what I got into. The influences that and my parents,
- 5:07Speaker 1: who were ordinary people, also were civil rights activists. Right now,
- 5:13Speaker 1: let's talk about it. So that's that's certainty right there.
- 5:15Speaker 1: That's that's a certainty. You explain a very uh you
- 5:20Speaker 1: the eight to five children, loving husband. Then the uncertainty
- 5:25Speaker 1: came into your life. Now, when uncertainty comes into my life,
- 5:29Speaker 1: that's one of your critical steps that you talk about
- 5:31Speaker 1: because a lot of people aren't ready for that uncertain
- 5:33Speaker 1: It can be getting fired. Uncertainty can be a relationship
- 5:37Speaker 1: suddenly Indie and you didn't expect it. A certainty can
- 5:41Speaker 1: be uh, financial loss. A certainty can be COVID nineteen.
- 5:46Speaker 1: That's a biging certainty. A lot of people dealing with
- 5:48Speaker 1: that's uncertainty. How you embrace it. The uncertainty in your
- 5:52Speaker 1: life was a passion of your husband. Correct. Yeah, And
- 5:56Speaker 1: and it happened at a time where I experiencing all
- 6:01Speaker 1: these ups and downs and differences in life because I
- 6:05Speaker 1: was in my fifties and sixties And there's something about
- 6:07Speaker 1: when you get to a half century, more than a
- 6:11Speaker 1: half century of living, you know, you experience all these
- 6:15Speaker 1: different changes, everything from the gray hairs to the your
- 6:19Speaker 1: body changing, to the changing in relationships and taking care
- 6:23Speaker 1: of aging parents and seeing children go out and do
- 6:28Speaker 1: their thing which you want them to. But it does
- 6:31Speaker 1: create these changes. And what was I going to do
- 6:33Speaker 1: for retirement? All these things were going when both my
- 6:38Speaker 1: parents and my husband got very sick and I went
- 6:42Speaker 1: into several years of caring for them, and then they
- 6:48Speaker 1: all passed pretty much during within months of each other.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So for the first time, Uh, I was devastated totally.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You know, I was just grieved out. There was just nothing.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I mean, these were people who I had never spent
- 7:06Speaker 1: a day in my life without, you know, I always
- 7:11Speaker 1: had them, So total uncertainty. Uh, dark days. Um, every day.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I was crying every day. I didn't know what I
- 7:20Speaker 1: was going to do. Um. And even though I had
- 7:23Speaker 1: been very successful in in my career and I had
- 7:28Speaker 1: a forty year marriage, a good marriage that was only
- 7:32Speaker 1: ended by the cancer that took my husband away, UM,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I was lost. I didn't know what to do. And
- 7:40Speaker 1: I was in my sixties and so it was like
- 7:43Speaker 1: I constantly said, well, my life's over. What am I
- 7:47Speaker 1: gonna do now? And ra Sean, it was one of
- 7:51Speaker 1: those times when one night I was looking through these
- 7:56Speaker 1: obituaries of the three most important people ever in my life.
- 8:01Speaker 1: And you know, I was in my night nightly ritual
- 8:04Speaker 1: of you on my knees, often crying, you know, woe
- 8:08Speaker 1: is me? Um. I looked and saw that dash, you know, Sean,
- 8:14Speaker 1: that dash between the day you are born and the
- 8:17Speaker 1: day you die. And when I looked at that dash,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I said, you know, that's what I remember about my
- 8:24Speaker 1: mom and my dad and my sweetheart, my husband. That's
- 8:27Speaker 1: what I remember. It's that dash. That's what life's about.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It's where the meaning takes place. And what was I
- 8:36Speaker 1: gonna do about my dash? Was I just ready to
- 8:41Speaker 1: give up? And that's really Rashan. As I began to
- 8:44Speaker 1: look at it and think about it, I slowly started
- 8:47Speaker 1: to get off my knees, to take a step out
- 8:52Speaker 1: and get back in the world because I found some meaning.
- 8:55Speaker 1: And that's when I began to discover what for me
- 8:59Speaker 1: where the secrets of um, you know, living a vibrant life.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Let let's talk about let's talk about that, that that
- 9:07Speaker 1: that old way, what is me? Lifestyle and mentality and
- 9:11Speaker 1: coming out of that the little the little engine that
- 9:13Speaker 1: could coming up that hill, you know and then going
- 9:16Speaker 1: over you know, because what happens is when you're that
- 9:18Speaker 1: old always mean you have a lot of tragedy, tragedy
- 9:21Speaker 1: and tragedy in your life. A lot of people don't
- 9:23Speaker 1: I talk to you. They know, they know they feel
- 9:25Speaker 1: nerves by telling you to suck it up or come
- 9:28Speaker 1: on down. You have a lot of life to give.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So you don't have a lot of people around you
- 9:32Speaker 1: that they can challenge you because they know you in
- 9:35Speaker 1: a state of sadness and they don't want to sound
- 9:38Speaker 1: like they they are uh selfish by telling you you
- 9:42Speaker 1: can you can move on? And so you saw the dash.
- 9:47Speaker 1: What were everybody else saying around your the family members,
- 9:50Speaker 1: your friends and all that good stuff? Yeah? Everyone, And
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know when you're in that state, everyone is so
- 9:56Speaker 1: supportive or they try to be right. You tell you
- 10:00Speaker 1: things like you know, you've got a lot of life
- 10:02Speaker 1: ahead of you, Uh move forward and you know get
- 10:07Speaker 1: over and even get over it or it's time to
- 10:11Speaker 1: get over it. And you know, none of that helped
- 10:14Speaker 1: me none of that. And you know, I don't believe
- 10:18Speaker 1: there's a timeline for grief, you know, I just really don't.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And I had to discover me for me, in myself.
- 10:29Speaker 1: And the first thing that in what I discovered for
- 10:33Speaker 1: a secret for me that I discovered was I had
- 10:37Speaker 1: to reconnect with my why, So my purpose, my raisin detra,
- 10:43Speaker 1: Why am I here? You know, not about my husband
- 10:47Speaker 1: and my parents, and my children, my grandchildren, all the
- 10:49Speaker 1: friends and family? Why me? Lord? Why me? You know,
- 10:54Speaker 1: what is it that you have for me? Because I
- 10:57Speaker 1: believe each of us has at least one unique gift
- 11:01Speaker 1: or talent and finding that gift or talent and understanding
- 11:07Speaker 1: your purpose. And as I began to reflect and really
- 11:11Speaker 1: go deep with Sean, I rediscovered my purpose. I refound
- 11:18Speaker 1: my why I'm living. And so that's one of the
- 11:21Speaker 1: secrets I think to life at any age, and that
- 11:25Speaker 1: is knowing your purpose, knowing why you here, Why God
- 11:28Speaker 1: put you here? What is it you supposed to do?
- 11:32Speaker 1: And that's the thing that helps get me up every morning,
- 11:35Speaker 1: gets me excited and to think about, you know, I'm
- 11:39Speaker 1: fulfilling my meaning. And I rediscovered that, you know, God
- 11:45Speaker 1: put me on this earth to inspire and teach and
- 11:49Speaker 1: to help, particularly women over fifty who are in my
- 11:53Speaker 1: same age category, to UH rediscover themselves and figure out
- 11:59Speaker 1: their neck steps because we're not done yet. And so
- 12:03Speaker 1: rediscovering my why and my purpose really was the first
- 12:08Speaker 1: big secret that UH I discovered. Well, you know, I
- 12:13Speaker 1: want to go back on that saddness thing. I don't
- 12:15Speaker 1: think there's a timeline of sadness. You have to learn
- 12:18Speaker 1: how to just box it, put in a box and
- 12:21Speaker 1: from compartmentalize it because of the fact that you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I know when I when I think about death, I
- 12:27Speaker 1: think about my parents, I think about my sister. You know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I might think about it a year from now. I
- 12:32Speaker 1: might think about it on their birthday. I might think
- 12:34Speaker 1: about it. So it's all right, Well we're talking about
- 12:37Speaker 1: is compartmentalizing it so it doesn't dominate your everyday life
- 12:41Speaker 1: moving forward, so it doesn't stop you from meeting people,
- 12:45Speaker 1: stop you from movie, stop you from getting the job,
- 12:48Speaker 1: stopping you from saying, you know something, I want to
- 12:50Speaker 1: be happy, hear me. I'll get that I want to
- 12:52Speaker 1: be happy, and so what happens is and that that's
- 12:56Speaker 1: why I wanted to bring Dr Geneva Williams on the show,
- 12:58Speaker 1: is that it's about you know, this is how I speak.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You know, I speak this way and I'm not trying
- 13:03Speaker 1: to be younger than what I am. I'm just trying
- 13:05Speaker 1: to be Rashawn McDonald. I don't worry about another birthday.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I gotta have a birthday to accomplish my dreams. I
- 13:10Speaker 1: don't lock myself to a certain age. I want to
- 13:12Speaker 1: be thirty nine for the rest of my life. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: want to be fitting that. No, I want to be
- 13:16Speaker 1: whatever age God allows me to be on that year,
- 13:18Speaker 1: he says, my birthday because I got gold I gotta
- 13:21Speaker 1: put in place. And so when I saw a video
- 13:23Speaker 1: of you, I said, this is my girl. I gotta
- 13:25Speaker 1: bring home my show because she's not restricting the steps
- 13:28Speaker 1: of opportunity tied to the age that she's assigned to
- 13:31Speaker 1: that year. That's a beautiful part of your personality. Where
- 13:35Speaker 1: did that come from? You know, I don't I think
- 13:40Speaker 1: it came from my started with my parents because they
- 13:44Speaker 1: were activist way into the eighties and nineties. You know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: my I started writing my book with my dad when
- 13:54Speaker 1: he was and we were to publish it together. So,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know, I interviewed him about all the things he
- 14:04Speaker 1: went through, all his trials and tribulations, the historic uh
- 14:09Speaker 1: landmark civil rights case he won and took all the
- 14:11Speaker 1: way to the Supreme Court New Jersey and changed housing
- 14:15Speaker 1: discrimination laws of New Jersey forever. And we talked about
- 14:18Speaker 1: all of that. We did that together. Now he passed
- 14:22Speaker 1: before the book was published, but he did read the
- 14:25Speaker 1: final manuscript and said it was good. But that was
- 14:28Speaker 1: like nineties, and and my mom I think left in
- 14:32Speaker 1: her late eighties. And but they always but you know, Rashan,
- 14:36Speaker 1: it really wasn't about the chronological age. What it really
- 14:42Speaker 1: was was their mindset and and what they felt in
- 14:46Speaker 1: their heart and their purpose. Uh. And that's what I
- 14:51Speaker 1: discovered that it really is about my purpose and my
- 14:55Speaker 1: motivation and continuing to give, you know, the gifts, and
- 15:00Speaker 1: that compartmentalization you talk about, I think is right on
- 15:05Speaker 1: for me. My compartment is my heart. So I keep
- 15:10Speaker 1: you know, those who have gone on um that you
- 15:13Speaker 1: know meant so much to me in my heart and
- 15:17Speaker 1: so they'll always be there. So I'm not trying to
- 15:19Speaker 1: get rid of them at all. For those they've got
- 15:23Speaker 1: to be in your heart. And you know what, Rashan,
- 15:25Speaker 1: we have to laugh about the good times. And one
- 15:27Speaker 1: of the things I do is I pull out the
- 15:30Speaker 1: albums all the time. I consider myself an amateur photographer,
- 15:34Speaker 1: so I have thousands of pictures. I ain't in none
- 15:37Speaker 1: of them, okay, because I'm always so busy taken over.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But I'll pull out my albums and I'll laugh. Sometimes
- 15:45Speaker 1: i'll cry, but I reflect and relive those good times,
- 15:50Speaker 1: those moments Rashan. And that's why I think it's important
- 15:54Speaker 1: to have those moments um to live because we all
- 15:59Speaker 1: are going to get to here one day, Okay what
- 16:04Speaker 1: we do while we're here. It's finally here the season
- 16:10Speaker 1: of celebration, and no matter how you celebrate with family

- 18:04Speaker 1: R dot Ai. My friend, you're not hitting, You're not
- 18:07Speaker 1: you're not swinging. The missing on another of this interview
- 18:10Speaker 1: right now got me pomped up as usual because when
- 18:14Speaker 1: from a from a gender standpoint, I'm a man your woman,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and uh, they have different rules in the play, and
- 18:19Speaker 1: they have different rules and play for African Americans, okay,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and so leadership, you know, you're an attractive woman. Some
- 18:27Speaker 1: people can diminish your success because you're attracted, you know.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And then that's a sad part about sexism. But in
- 18:34Speaker 1: the end, if you have somebody who's fifty, they confused,
- 18:38Speaker 1: They you know that, don't they look in the mirror.
- 18:41Speaker 1: They don't like the way they're seeing in the mirror.
- 18:42Speaker 1: They don't like the people around them. What advice do
- 18:45Speaker 1: you get for people who are stuck Let's use the
- 18:48Speaker 1: word stuck, because there a lot of people listen to
- 18:51Speaker 1: this interview are stuck. We want to get them unstuck. No,
- 18:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. We are not on the
- 18:57Speaker 1: way you pull yourself from an unstuck position. You have
- 18:59Speaker 1: to want to make change. Exactly. If you don't want
- 19:04Speaker 1: to make change, you think this is the lottery. I'm sorry,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but you gotta want to make change. I do want
- 19:09Speaker 1: to set that little that little qualified before you get started.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You're absolutely right, and you have to put sweat equity
- 19:17Speaker 1: into what it is you want to You got to
- 19:21Speaker 1: do that, okay. You know. One of the things that
- 19:25Speaker 1: I say the folks in terms of the secrets that
- 19:29Speaker 1: I found, is to make a plan. You gotta have
- 19:34Speaker 1: a game plan. What is it you're gonna do with
- 19:36Speaker 1: your life? You know? So you know, let's assume you
- 19:40Speaker 1: you you you know what your purpose is, You've discovered
- 19:43Speaker 1: your why, you understand why you're here, what it is
- 19:46Speaker 1: you want to do, what your talents are. Okay, then
- 19:49Speaker 1: what you're gonna do with it? So that's making a plan,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you know, whether you think it in your head or
- 19:54Speaker 1: write it down. Though writing it down, you know, writing
- 19:56Speaker 1: it down helps you see it and achieve it better.
- 20:00Speaker 1: That's what all the research says. But I understand if
- 20:02Speaker 1: you just want to keep it in your head and
- 20:04Speaker 1: think about it. But the best thing to do is
- 20:06Speaker 1: figure out what your goals are, what it is. You know,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you've got this vision of your life that you want
- 20:12Speaker 1: to be, which is first step, figure out what it
- 20:14Speaker 1: is you want your life to be, and then decide, well,
- 20:18Speaker 1: how am I going to get there? So those are
- 20:20Speaker 1: your goals, and then how am I going to reach
- 20:23Speaker 1: those goals? That's your action steps, and then what am
- 20:26Speaker 1: I gonna do it? That's your timeline. Well, when you
- 20:29Speaker 1: finish putting together a vision of goals, some action steps
- 20:33Speaker 1: and a timeline, you got yourself a plan and then
- 20:36Speaker 1: do it. And so one of the things that I
- 20:39Speaker 1: found is you gotta have a plan. And it's your plan.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's not your uncle's or your aunts or your scouse is.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It's your plan, and come on, let's do it. Get
- 20:51Speaker 1: that game plan together. Uh, you know, male, female, black, white,
- 20:56Speaker 1: have a game plan and that you know, and it's
- 20:59Speaker 1: your plan, and be willing to switch it up or
- 21:03Speaker 1: change it if you need to. You know, if people
- 21:06Speaker 1: say to me, um, sometimes well I don't know what
- 21:09Speaker 1: to do. You know, I don't feel I'm I'm really
- 21:12Speaker 1: done anything. I'm stuck, you know that that kind of thing.
- 21:16Speaker 1: One of the tips I give folk when they feel
- 21:19Speaker 1: that way is to, uh, make a list of your accomplishments. Rashan.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I don't care who you are, if you living and
- 21:27Speaker 1: breathing and if you're listening to us, have this conversation.
- 21:31Speaker 1: In your life, you've accomplished something, probably a whole lot
- 21:36Speaker 1: of somethings, and so one of the things, pull out
- 21:39Speaker 1: that piece of paper and write down all of the
- 21:43Speaker 1: things you've all your successes, what have you done. When
- 21:49Speaker 1: you sit back, I'm guaranteed you sit back and look
- 21:52Speaker 1: at that list, you're gonna say, well, you know that's
- 21:57Speaker 1: what you're saying. You know what I'm saying. Here's something
- 22:00Speaker 1: that absolutely and always saying. It's like in my life,
- 22:04Speaker 1: you know, because a lot of people have qualifiers on success,
- 22:07Speaker 1: you know, they they look at Lebron James and that
- 22:10Speaker 1: might be successful to them. And you have to look
- 22:14Speaker 1: at your competition. I mean, when I was building Steve
- 22:16Speaker 1: Harvey's or social media, I put this competition that was
- 22:19Speaker 1: that was close to him. I didn't go way up there,
- 22:21Speaker 1: there was way away. I started close to him and
- 22:24Speaker 1: started setting his goals in social media and we started
- 22:27Speaker 1: passing them as we went along the way. Now if
- 22:29Speaker 1: I just said this goal four or five million away
- 22:32Speaker 1: instead of fifty thousand away, then guess what it would
- 22:35Speaker 1: look seem insurmountable. And so when you start talking about goals,
- 22:38Speaker 1: setting said goals that are reachable. Say, I always talked
- 22:43Speaker 1: about naty day goals. I don't talk about years where
- 22:46Speaker 1: you know, that's why a lot of people don't go
- 22:48Speaker 1: to college because they see here here four years. It
- 22:50Speaker 1: just knocks him out on the four years. Uh, I
- 22:54Speaker 1: can't contain committed something like four years. That's why people
- 22:56Speaker 1: go to trade schools. And I'm not knocking that because
- 22:59Speaker 1: they see a short to turn turn around. But always know,
- 23:03Speaker 1: set a goal that you feel comfortable with and reaching.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And that's what she's saying about planning a lot of
- 23:10Speaker 1: people planning success, but they don't plan it with a goal,
- 23:12Speaker 1: a reachable goal. And know that as you always treated
- 23:17Speaker 1: like a steps on the ladder, Each step gets you hire,
- 23:21Speaker 1: each steps gets you high. You don't want to jump
- 23:23Speaker 1: steps on the ladder. You might fall off exactly exactly.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And so that's what you know, be have realistic goals right,
- 23:34Speaker 1: goals that make sense that you can touch and reach,
- 23:37Speaker 1: and goals that you know that you've reached. Success when
- 23:42Speaker 1: you've completed that. Sometimes we set these vague goals and
- 23:47Speaker 1: we don't really even know when we reached them. And
- 23:50Speaker 1: so I always tell folks when you're setting goals, um,
- 23:54Speaker 1: speaking in the present and the now and speaking in
- 23:59Speaker 1: positive terms, like you know, um, you know, I want
- 24:03Speaker 1: to lose fifty pounds. Okay, that's too vague. It really
- 24:09Speaker 1: doesn't say much, doesn't talk about when or what have you.
- 24:12Speaker 1: But you can say, Brad said, stated in the positive terms.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I am my ideal weight. You know it's a positive thing.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So you've already put yourself in that future self that
- 24:29Speaker 1: you want to be and you see yourself that way.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Oh I gotta quit smoking. No, I'm a non smoker.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So you claim it and say it for yourself and
- 24:41Speaker 1: then begin to write down the action steps that will
- 24:45Speaker 1: make that statement on a non smoker true. Absolutely when
- 24:51Speaker 1: I when I think about it, when people, especially on
- 24:53Speaker 1: weight laws, I always tell people just just pickle. I
- 24:57Speaker 1: want to lose a pound a Week's like, see if
- 25:01Speaker 1: you lose the powder week at the end of you
- 25:02Speaker 1: lost fifty pounds, and so what if you say I
- 25:04Speaker 1: want to lose fifty powers, I'm like, oh, I'm gonna
- 25:07Speaker 1: do that, but just to powder powder week in your mind.
- 25:11Speaker 1: That's what we're talking about, a mindset. We're talking about
- 25:14Speaker 1: how to relax your way into success. We're talking about
- 25:18Speaker 1: not being overwhelmed by setting goals and planning things that
- 25:22Speaker 1: feel unreachable because it came out of your mouth, which
- 25:28Speaker 1: shan is that Another thing that I've learned through the years,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and that is that one of the ways to continually
- 25:39Speaker 1: be able to create possibilities and live a vibrant life
- 25:44Speaker 1: at any age is to practice self care. Yes, you know,
- 25:49Speaker 1: too often, particularly for women, Um, we get so busy
- 25:54Speaker 1: in life, trying to be successful, trying to you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: climb to the top all of the things that we
- 26:01Speaker 1: forget to take care of ourselves and and and not.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And I'm not talking about, you know, making sure you
- 26:09Speaker 1: get a massage every week, though that's good, now, now
- 26:12Speaker 1: that that'd be good. Okay, that's if you can afford it,
- 26:15Speaker 1: that's great. But you know, self care is about so
- 26:19Speaker 1: many different aspects of your life. It deals with your
- 26:23Speaker 1: social care, your physical care, your psychological care, your mental,
- 26:28Speaker 1: your emotional even learning how to say no is a
- 26:33Speaker 1: good way to practice self care, so that in fact,
- 26:37Speaker 1: you're putting your needs your priorities first. So practicing uh,
- 26:43Speaker 1: taking care of yourself, loving yourself the way that you should,
- 26:47Speaker 1: eliminating the negative self talk. You know, we be you
- 26:51Speaker 1: know talk, all these things kind of run around in
- 26:55Speaker 1: our mind about what we can't do, these limiting behaviors.
- 26:59Speaker 1: You know, what we can't what we can't say, what
- 27:01Speaker 1: we can't wear, what we shouldn't do, et cetera. By
- 27:03Speaker 1: the time we finished, you'll be exhausted, you know. So
- 27:07Speaker 1: we need to reduce or eliminate the negative self talk.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And that's part of taking care of yourself, that self care,
- 27:17Speaker 1: that self love. That particularly during these times as times
- 27:22Speaker 1: as tough as we're in pandemic, as you know, we're
- 27:25Speaker 1: facing uncertainty. UM an uncertainty that is going to the
- 27:31Speaker 1: pandemic is going to end where it will move into
- 27:35Speaker 1: something different, but uncertainty it's going to be with us always.
- 27:41Speaker 1: You know, life is about ups and downs, that's what
- 27:45Speaker 1: life is. And so learning how to embrace uncertainty, become
- 27:52Speaker 1: a master of UM, having yourself developed, learn the tricks
- 28:01Speaker 1: and tips to decrease worry and stress and focus on
- 28:06Speaker 1: your goals. You know, those are things that we should develop.
- 28:09Speaker 1: We should become masters of that pandemic or not, because
- 28:14Speaker 1: it will always be something that's in our lives that
- 28:18Speaker 1: we're not going to be a hundred percent sure of.
- 28:22Speaker 1: So hey, let's become those masters of being the best
- 28:28Speaker 1: that we can be, being the most vibrant that we
- 28:30Speaker 1: can be at any age. Thank you. She's a late
- 28:34Speaker 1: she's a later life beautiful queen. I would say beautiful queen.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I am say. I'm not gonna say beauty queen. Beautiful queen.
- 28:40Speaker 1: She's a queen. She's an entrepreneur, online course creator. You know,
- 28:44Speaker 1: the thing I love about you is that you don't
- 28:46Speaker 1: let age stop you. And that's what I'm preaching now.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm preaching that for even somebody twenty years old, don't
- 28:50Speaker 1: let ah stop you. Don't tell us somebody you're too
- 28:52Speaker 1: young to accomplish that thirty years old, forty years old, fifty,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and when you hit fifty and sixty, please stop it
- 28:59Speaker 1: by saying that you can accomplish your dreams because you're
- 29:01Speaker 1: too old. As a message that she delivers on a
