Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: My guest today is LaToya Luckett. She broke in the
- 0:03Speaker 1: industry and said, you know, I gotta go back on
- 0:05Speaker 1: this because you know, we got a little history, my
- 0:07Speaker 1: little history of her, you know, backing with the iconic
- 0:10Speaker 1: girl group that's in the Child. But I love her
- 0:13Speaker 1: for acting. LaToya previously recurred on one of my favorite shows,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Owns green Leaf for three seasons. Love that show. She's
- 0:19Speaker 1: also appeared in the recurring roles in Fox, Rosewood and
- 0:22Speaker 1: hbos Ballers another two of my favorite shows. And start
- 0:26Speaker 1: with My bar Morris Chestnut, Okay over there and Rosewood
- 0:29Speaker 1: and now LaToya luck at Stars as Ken your peers
- 0:33Speaker 1: in the new season of Power Book three, Raising Canaan
- 0:36Speaker 1: Aaron Sunday at nine pm Eastern on Stars Plus. I
- 0:39Speaker 1: want to get into it with her new YouTube channel
- 0:42Speaker 1: show which I love, the death Leave it to LaToya
- 0:45Speaker 1: Please Working to Money Making Conversations master Class, the one
- 0:47Speaker 1: in the own LaToya Lucky How you doing? I'm good?
- 0:51Speaker 1: How are you? First to get to you? I had
- 0:53Speaker 1: a lot to say, which is good, which is good.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, because that means you've had
- 0:58Speaker 1: a career, which means that this because when we talk
- 1:01Speaker 1: about this business, you know. And I'm a fan of
- 1:05Speaker 1: your YouTube channel because it tells I think if anybody
- 1:09Speaker 1: in the industry wants to know how this industry work,
- 1:13Speaker 1: because there's no guarantees in this industry, and you are
- 1:16Speaker 1: an entrepreneur. A lot of people don't know when you
- 1:18Speaker 1: become an actor, you basically an entrepreneur because yourself employed.
- 1:20Speaker 1: You're going from gig the gig. People they're walk in
- 1:23Speaker 1: a room auditions and you don't know if they like
- 1:26Speaker 1: you. You You know, you might have killed you know. We
- 1:28Speaker 1: want to go with this skinny chick. You know, we
- 1:31Speaker 1: want to go with the light of complexion. We want
- 1:33Speaker 1: to go with together with the long hair, the straight hair.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We want to go to gel with the silly laugh.
- 1:38Speaker 1: But what about LaToya? She killed it? Nah, I think
- 1:40Speaker 1: I wanna she good? She good, but I'd like to
- 1:44Speaker 1: do with it. How do you how do you deal
- 1:46Speaker 1: with that level of challenges because it's every day and
- 1:51Speaker 1: then the world we live in. But you've been able
- 1:53Speaker 1: to rise above it and build a successful career. I mean,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I mean, I can honestly tell you I as a
- 2:00Speaker 1: matter of fact, I just came off of the audition
- 2:03Speaker 1: of test, and if you're an actor, you know what
- 2:05Speaker 1: the test is. Um. I was so excited about the
- 2:08Speaker 1: roles and I just as a matter of fact, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: was trying out for two roles because I felt like, Okay,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I think they really want me to be a part
- 2:14Speaker 1: of this because they got me auditioning for two roles
- 2:17Speaker 1: and you know, test deal is done, is done. And
- 2:20Speaker 1: then you get the news it didn't go your way
- 2:22Speaker 1: and like, wait, what did I do? What did you know?
- 2:26Speaker 1: And you just you start to realize the old saying
- 2:30Speaker 1: everybody gonna say it was for you as for you? Um,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and as much I want to believe that, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 1: you still have those moments of disappointment where it's like,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but I felt like this was this was mine. You
- 2:48Speaker 1: know he would go with the protection again. I have
- 2:51Speaker 1: to get through that. But you know it comes with it,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know, you know, you know, like in football, you're
- 2:57Speaker 1: gonna get hit right right right? Oh, I think that. Um,
- 3:02Speaker 1: you know once once the sting goes away, Uh, you
- 3:07Speaker 1: just keep going. You just keep going up and you
- 3:11Speaker 1: keep going. It isn't the people around you, your support
- 3:14Speaker 1: group that has enabled you to sustain the career. And
- 3:17Speaker 1: when I've talked like this. I'm not talking in the
- 3:19Speaker 1: negative manner. Just your man has had a brilliant career
- 3:22Speaker 1: and it will continue to have a brilliant career. But
- 3:25Speaker 1: I was just telling that everybody who wants to jump
- 3:26Speaker 1: out there and being an actor or a singer, it's
- 3:29Speaker 1: not easy, baby, And you do need a tribe. You
- 3:31Speaker 1: need a whole tribe of folks to believe in you
- 3:33Speaker 1: and will continue to continue to encourage you and lift
- 3:36Speaker 1: you up when you feel down, and you know, push
- 3:39Speaker 1: you back in the room when you want when you're done,
- 3:42Speaker 1: when you're kicking and screaming. UM. It is not something
- 3:46Speaker 1: that's easy. That's something that you can I just think
- 3:51Speaker 1: it's gonna be easy money, it's not. So you know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: if the passion is there, if the um works your
- 4:02Speaker 1: work ethic, if it's there right and to be resilient,
- 4:09Speaker 1: you have to you have to have all that absolutely
- 4:12Speaker 1: absolutely a good group of folks to you when you're
- 4:17Speaker 1: ready done with it. Um. But it's not easy at all.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Reporting the payoff is beautiful paid when um it. Life
- 4:29Speaker 1: is interesting because, like I said, my my degrees in
- 4:31Speaker 1: mathematics minor and sociology left IBM pursuing the crowd thought
- 4:35Speaker 1: are gonna be the next set? And Murphy definitely the
- 4:37Speaker 1: next Richard Pryor and I made great headway into the
- 4:40Speaker 1: comedic industry as a stand up comedian, and I too
- 4:43Speaker 1: was in l A doing my thing, and I decided
- 4:45Speaker 1: to move back to Houston to say, you know something,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm going to be the big fish in the small
- 4:50Speaker 1: palm as used, and I opened a comedy club called
- 4:53Speaker 1: the Hip Hop Comedy Stop. And it was hot. I
- 4:55Speaker 1: mean people were aligned around the block. It was hot,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it was pop. And that's when I had the first
- 5:00Speaker 1: time because Matthew knows that they ran into me at
- 5:04Speaker 1: the Whole Tels. I got this new singing group they
- 5:07Speaker 1: I said, okay, he said, can they come open to
- 5:09Speaker 1: your spot? And that's when I had the first pleasure
- 5:12Speaker 1: of meeting this talent of the young lady and her
- 5:14Speaker 1: friends on that stage. And even then, you know, the
- 5:18Speaker 1: politeness and the innocence of being young. There was a
- 5:22Speaker 1: unique talent about you that still out there that that
- 5:25Speaker 1: resonates today. But you came into the industry La Toy
- 5:28Speaker 1: as a singer when in your mind you felt I
- 5:31Speaker 1: could do more. Um, you know what, I feel like
- 5:36Speaker 1: that was a God moment because I remember being asked
- 5:43Speaker 1: to come and meet with an agency in New York. Um.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I hadn't really done any acting outside of school plays,
- 5:48Speaker 1: and they asked me, you know, to uh come down
- 5:52Speaker 1: and take a meeting. They sent me on my pation,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I went, I didn't know how to read script I've
- 5:56Speaker 1: been on the stage play, but stage plays are very
- 5:59Speaker 1: different from on ring. Absolutely yeah, and so I especially scripted,
- 6:05Speaker 1: and so you know, I just I just said yes,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I jumped and when I offered me to do that thing,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I did it. And I ended up being cast as
- 6:19Speaker 1: the lead in this movie called Preacher's Kid and that
- 6:21Speaker 1: was my first act. So God says lead when he says,
- 6:26Speaker 1: do baby dog And that was That was the MTV.
- 6:30Speaker 1: That was MTV E T and a few other things.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Because I hope Vio con fact, we'll be right back
- 6:38Speaker 1: with more Money Making Conversations master Class with Rushan McDonald.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Now let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You know, but you know the thing about it is
- 6:52Speaker 1: that one of interesting thing is of me wanting to
- 6:54Speaker 1: get you on the show, not only just to promote
- 6:56Speaker 1: your role on this hot new series on Star two
- 7:00Speaker 1: Stars has created this little power universe, like you know,
- 7:03Speaker 1: the Marvel Universe and the d C universe or you
- 7:06Speaker 1: have the Power Universe, and now you're part of that
- 7:09Speaker 1: power universe. You you know, different than this, you know
- 7:12Speaker 1: than the you know, Black Widow. You know you want
- 7:14Speaker 1: of these characters now that they brought into that family,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and to know that you're in this power universe that
- 7:21Speaker 1: has a certain cashet to it, doesn't it? I think
- 7:25Speaker 1: it does. Um. I mean, first of all, I'm a
- 7:27Speaker 1: huge friend of the conversations the body of Work returned
- 7:35Speaker 1: to money. They can conversations Rashaan mcderstein's and they going, Okay,
- 7:40Speaker 1: how do I where do I fit? Even even with
- 7:44Speaker 1: your body work now you can say casually because you
- 7:47Speaker 1: got you gotta resume now as an actress, okay, but
- 7:51Speaker 1: even still watching, you know, watching them in these roles,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I was just kind of like, Wow, this is outstand
- 8:00Speaker 1: name work. And it was a period piece of um
- 8:06Speaker 1: which is my favorite favorite era. Come in and buckle
- 8:12Speaker 1: down and give everything that I had at the time
- 8:16Speaker 1: to this character. And because she such a complex story
- 8:19Speaker 1: to tell, I felt like her story was one that
- 8:22Speaker 1: people would in some ways be able to relate, to
- 8:25Speaker 1: be quick to judge, um, and also um that you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I was having a trouble with seeing why she made
- 8:35Speaker 1: the decisions that she made, especially as a mother too,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and her being a mom that abandoned her daughter. And
- 8:41Speaker 1: it was a singer singing career, you know, I mean
- 8:45Speaker 1: for singing career, you know, a lot of levels, but
- 8:49Speaker 1: on some more, you know, on on other levels, we
- 8:54Speaker 1: just didn't get it. Um. But I just I still
- 8:58Speaker 1: felt like even with all of that, her story deserved
- 9:02Speaker 1: to be told in a very special way and amongst
- 9:07Speaker 1: beautiful a beautiful cast. Um. So being a part of
- 9:10Speaker 1: the power universe is some something that I can say
- 9:14Speaker 1: I am truly proud of and excited about. Well, when
- 9:17Speaker 1: they gave you a character that has a lot of levels,
- 9:20Speaker 1: you said that, you know, and let me just explain
- 9:23Speaker 1: to everybody about when you see a lot of levels. Okay,
- 9:26Speaker 1: the character abandoned its child, Okay, abandons child, so that
- 9:30Speaker 1: right there you hear the word selfish. Okay, selfish. Then
- 9:33Speaker 1: the character comes back into the city, ignores the child,
- 9:40Speaker 1: then cares a life of a religious flavor, as they say,
- 9:46Speaker 1: found God, but not flavor I'm gonna say flavor because
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna say flavor latoia because of the
- 9:52Speaker 1: fact that we know your past. So I don't think
- 9:56Speaker 1: you can find God without a ologen. What you've done, well,
- 10:02Speaker 1: that's the that's the layers of your character, which I love.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And so because you know and then knowing who you
- 10:07Speaker 1: are from Houston, Texas Southern were going up to New
- 10:11Speaker 1: York and getting that accent right, talk to us about
- 10:14Speaker 1: that if that was that was one thing that I
- 10:18Speaker 1: struggle that I had this um coach and Um he
- 10:23Speaker 1: was very with me, and I was like, this is
- 10:27Speaker 1: such a big piece of her I cannot um, I
- 10:33Speaker 1: cannot allow that to be swept under the rug. Then
- 10:37Speaker 1: this has to be this has to be great, you know,
- 10:43Speaker 1: distract a distraction from her character. And so they were like, no, no,
- 10:48Speaker 1: where is suddenly year I come from? Now, don't you know?
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm so glad um that I was able to nail
- 10:55Speaker 1: that down a bit and also made it fun. You know,
- 10:59Speaker 1: it also an what your thing about is, uh, you
- 11:02Speaker 1: have to use authenticity, you know. And one thing about
- 11:06Speaker 1: New Yorkers don't don't play with don't play with them
- 11:09Speaker 1: folks up there. Okay, don't play don't don't you start
- 11:13Speaker 1: getting on them Burrows, the Brooklyn Queens and Bronks and
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you acting like you you're talking with a half
- 11:19Speaker 1: of accent or non accent. They will strike you down
- 11:23Speaker 1: place to play with. If anything, like if I was,
- 11:27Speaker 1: you know, New York could come in to play a Southerner,
- 11:31Speaker 1: we might give a little greats that you know, we're
- 11:33Speaker 1: just a little warmer down here, right right. But I
- 11:36Speaker 1: do going into this that I had to get that
- 11:39Speaker 1: particular accent, right. They didn't kill what they trold you.
- 11:45Speaker 1: They will trolly. I lived in New York twice, so
- 11:47Speaker 1: I know exactly how hard they would have trolled you.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm talking to LaToya luck At, the star of so
- 11:52Speaker 1: many series of incredible singer launched your career many years
- 11:56Speaker 1: ago back in the city of Houston, Texas. I was
- 11:58Speaker 1: fortunate to be there to see her in the early
- 12:00Speaker 1: stage of greatness and watch her over the years. And
- 12:03Speaker 1: it's the first time I'm interviewing that. So I feel like,
- 12:05Speaker 1: you know, everything's life is like that. It gives you
- 12:07Speaker 1: a chance to see people and then just say congratulations,
- 12:10Speaker 1: because when you have a career that she has has
- 12:13Speaker 1: succeeded because you know, everybody want to be some form
- 12:17Speaker 1: of you. And that's why I started the conversation about
- 12:20Speaker 1: the the the You can get these one off, you
- 12:23Speaker 1: might start one series, you might get this five and under,
- 12:26Speaker 1: or you might get this commercial. But you have a career, Toya.
- 12:33Speaker 1: When people when I say that, you know, who do
- 12:37Speaker 1: you think the most? Who do I think the most?
- 12:42Speaker 1: Oh man, there's so many people to think. I would
- 12:44Speaker 1: first say thanks to God. Period. Um he I mean
- 12:50Speaker 1: I've been showing out. When I tell you showing out,
- 12:53Speaker 1: you blows my mind consistently every day. Um My mom
- 13:00Speaker 1: for her to be a woman of faith and to
- 13:03Speaker 1: have the courage to almost get out of the way
- 13:08Speaker 1: and allow and get out of the way and not
- 13:11Speaker 1: put her beliefs or what she thought I should be
- 13:16Speaker 1: and just allow me to be young age. I've started
- 13:21Speaker 1: to pursue my career at twelve. I left home at
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know, to to pursue my career and started to
- 13:27Speaker 1: traveling on the road with Destity shall at well. So,
- 13:30Speaker 1: um that takes a very that's a that's a different
- 13:35Speaker 1: kind of faith. Um. So, I'm so grateful to her,
- 13:39Speaker 1: the tribe that God has put around me of wonderful
- 13:42Speaker 1: people who are of my heart, who on a daily
- 13:47Speaker 1: literally lift me up in prayer, send an encouraging word. Um,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I am so blessed have but these phenomenal people around me,
- 14:00Speaker 1: who I mean, stay on me and for just beautiful
- 14:04Speaker 1: experiences that God has allowed me to have um good
- 14:09Speaker 1: and bad, um which all ended up working for my good.
- 14:15Speaker 1: She's starting in the Power Book three raising canaan Or
- 14:19Speaker 1: in Sunday's at nine pm Eastern Standard Time. Not only that,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but she's also starring in her own production of honesty,
- 14:28Speaker 1: a motivation of lifting information called leave It to LaToya.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It's a YouTube series got roughly by the hundred and
- 14:37Speaker 1: twenty six thousand subscribers and growing. If you want to subscribe,
- 14:40Speaker 1: please go to the channel right now and subscribe. And
- 14:44Speaker 1: so when I when I look at this, first of all,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I want to know my first question is gonna be
- 14:48Speaker 1: before I get into any questions, why did you do this?
- 14:52Speaker 1: I didn't because I feel like people need a safe
- 14:54Speaker 1: space to come and feel like they're not alone, that
- 14:59Speaker 1: there's someone out there who has been through something like
- 15:02Speaker 1: what's they're going um and didn't give up. I am
- 15:10Speaker 1: a divorced, single mom of two UM who comes from
- 15:15Speaker 1: a divorced family in a very complex INDs industry and
- 15:24Speaker 1: still remain positive and humble and UM still wanting to
- 15:30Speaker 1: believe the good in everything. So I feel like the
- 15:34Speaker 1: show allows me a space is very therapist feutic for me.
- 15:38Speaker 1: By the way UM allows me to be me allows
- 15:42Speaker 1: people to see for me. Conversation master Class with you.
- 15:49Speaker 1: But you know, money Making Conversations, you do a lot
- 15:56Speaker 1: of crime that. You do a lot of crime that
- 15:58Speaker 1: I'm like a lot of my crime. You cried again,
- 16:00Speaker 1: girl cried again. But you look good when you cried.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Though you want to have a good looking cry. I'm
- 16:05Speaker 1: an ugly cry. I'm an ugly cry. We'll be right
- 16:08Speaker 1: back with more money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 16:14Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I forgot to ask this one question. I gotta go
- 16:22Speaker 1: back to the raising Kanan playing a playing a series
- 16:27Speaker 1: this gangster guns, people dying, people getting killed. Now, you
- 16:31Speaker 1: never done that on TV before, at least I never
- 16:33Speaker 1: so I think I've watched everything you've done. How did that?
- 16:37Speaker 1: How did that? How did that whole approach to coming
- 16:41Speaker 1: into a series that's tied to violence? How did that?
- 16:45Speaker 1: How did that sink into your mind? That was a
- 16:48Speaker 1: lot because I normally don't do well with shows like
- 16:52Speaker 1: that and watching them because I'm a very sensitive person.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Even that's the first season, I was like, oh no, like, um,
- 17:01Speaker 1: but I you know what I watched. I as eared
- 17:05Speaker 1: as I was, as traumatized as I thought I would
- 17:09Speaker 1: be right really enjoying the show. Um, and it was
- 17:15Speaker 1: something different for me. It was very different for me.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Like you said, I'm a soft I'm a busy you
- 17:21Speaker 1: know rom com I want you on the rom camp
- 17:26Speaker 1: but I watched the Netflix got me. Netflix got me
- 17:30Speaker 1: on the romantic comedies. I watched them all the time.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Now that the reason I'm gonna tell everybody, I cheated
- 17:37Speaker 1: a little bit on this interview everybody, because see I
- 17:39Speaker 1: went to her series and then one of the episode
- 17:42Speaker 1: is called how Landing My Highlight My Powerful New Role
- 17:46Speaker 1: is an episode and so some of the questions I
- 17:49Speaker 1: got were not the questions they sent me or from
- 17:52Speaker 1: what she openly and honestly talked about her career. The trusting,
- 17:57Speaker 1: the process UH sometimes us in faith and realizing the
- 18:02Speaker 1: faith they left you, you left faith, okay, um, realizing
- 18:06Speaker 1: that just because you got something to me is guaranteed.
- 18:10Speaker 1: All this is in this one less than twelve minute interview.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You know this, this confessional, this trail minutes. This usually
- 18:18Speaker 1: getting this in an hour. She cries, she laughed, She
- 18:21Speaker 1: talked about losing one of the best friends. This is
- 18:23Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. If this is like must see
- 18:27Speaker 1: YouTube television and this is one episode, it's like she
- 18:31Speaker 1: does a combination of five levels. She guys these jad
- 18:35Speaker 1: Whoop ear rings on, and she keeps fiddling with him.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Because one goes this way, she puts it in to
- 18:39Speaker 1: go the other way. It just it's just I'm telling
- 18:44Speaker 1: I watched one thing. I don't do, LaToya when people
- 18:46Speaker 1: come to this show, I don't ask these generic questions
- 18:49Speaker 1: because I think it's offensive. I want everybody to know
- 18:52Speaker 1: that I'm just honored for a talent of your caliper
- 18:55Speaker 1: coming to my show. So I have to be the
- 18:57Speaker 1: most respectful part and let them know that I respect
- 19:00Speaker 1: so much that I'm going to give my time to
- 19:02Speaker 1: a clear understanding of what you're doing in your life.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And this whole YouTube channel called leave It to LaToya
- 19:09Speaker 1: so YouTube and the honest journey you go through each
- 19:13Speaker 1: episode is incredible, you know, confronting my absent father, having
- 19:17Speaker 1: a conversation with my ex. Wow, you for real, LaToya.
- 19:23Speaker 1: It's a lot, It's a lot. It's it's a lot. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 1: But I feel it's necessary in order for us to
- 19:32Speaker 1: grow and and living our truths are honest to God truth.
- 19:37Speaker 1: M that it takes some stretching, It takes getting uncomfortable,
- 19:41Speaker 1: It takes you know, asking those very um complicated questions
- 19:47Speaker 1: um that you might not be ready for the answer
- 19:50Speaker 1: for um. It takes all of that in order for
- 19:53Speaker 1: us to grow. Right. Oh yeah, I feel it's necessary. Okay,
- 19:58Speaker 1: now A because I love reading comments, you know, and
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think that that that you know, that that drives
- 20:04Speaker 1: why you should do things that you're also tells you
- 20:07Speaker 1: what people are really motivated about when you do that.
- 20:12Speaker 1: And so in reading these comments, I've realized how much
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know your family, you have such a Laurel fan base,
- 20:18Speaker 1: first of all. Secondly, how much you know that I'm
- 20:23Speaker 1: not telling you nothing. You know the one thing about
- 20:26Speaker 1: you know, the social media and I see I respect
- 20:29Speaker 1: even to subscribe as a little bit more than social media,
- 20:31Speaker 1: because that's a clearly commitment when people subscribe on YouTube
- 20:35Speaker 1: or subscribe to a fan club. Because sometimes you can
- 20:38Speaker 1: just like a hamburger and not really mean they like you,
- 20:41Speaker 1: or like a flower, like you in a bikini, or
- 20:43Speaker 1: like you in a trip. They don't mean they really
- 20:45Speaker 1: like you. They just like that moment. And so so
- 20:48Speaker 1: when I reading YouTube, it really gives me an honest
- 20:50Speaker 1: sense of who cares about you, and I think that's
- 20:53Speaker 1: really important and how you're affecting people. So what is
- 20:56Speaker 1: the future of Leave It to your LaToya. Well, we're
- 21:00Speaker 1: working on season two right now. I'm super excited about that.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think it's one of the things that will UM
- 21:10Speaker 1: just file. It's a legacy moment for me, you know
- 21:12Speaker 1: what I mean either earth, that content will still be
- 21:16Speaker 1: here and people will get to hear me, see me,
- 21:19Speaker 1: get to know me um, and I think that that's important.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I think it's a part of leaving my mark. Uh
- 21:26Speaker 1: So we're working on UM season two. You said we. Okay,
- 21:30Speaker 1: Now you say the word we assuming like I know
- 21:33Speaker 1: or who is the week there we go about people
- 21:39Speaker 1: you know, they know you. We is your cousin village
- 21:44Speaker 1: To create a show like that, the Village working on too.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's what I say, awesome because again, you know, when
- 21:51Speaker 1: I look at the shows, I when I was watching
- 21:54Speaker 1: the episode about confronting my absent father, I have to
- 21:56Speaker 1: wear ask one question, the big ution, this why, and
- 22:01Speaker 1: then the second big question is what did you get
- 22:03Speaker 1: out of it personally? Because I know it's a message
- 22:06Speaker 1: to understand some form of forgiveness, some formal understand, some
- 22:10Speaker 1: form of closure that people have to have in their life.
- 22:13Speaker 1: But for you to take on that responsibility, you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: this is not no, no, big daytime talk show. This
- 22:20Speaker 1: is an intimate moment where you said you know something.
- 22:22Speaker 1: All right, I'm going out of my way because that's
- 22:24Speaker 1: what because this is decision. Nobody's pitching in the room. Here.
- 22:27Speaker 1: You know something, we got this hot daytime talk show.
- 22:30Speaker 1: We want to bring your dad on. No, this is
- 22:32Speaker 1: something you decided you wanted to do. Why. I I
- 22:39Speaker 1: needed that more than ever. Um. I got a lot
- 22:43Speaker 1: of questions answered. There was so much filling in that
- 22:47Speaker 1: moment um and we both came with open hearts and
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm listening to here. Um the accountability was there. Um
- 22:59Speaker 1: the UM, I feel like the transparency on my father's side,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and me really getting to kind of go back in
- 23:10Speaker 1: time too, when he was twenty four and having to
- 23:12Speaker 1: make some real adult decisions. Although you know, yes he
- 23:18Speaker 1: was a father and he was a husband, he was
- 23:22Speaker 1: also still coming into his own and so did he
- 23:26Speaker 1: make the best decisions maybe not, but for a person
- 23:30Speaker 1: his age, I just feel like I had to show
- 23:33Speaker 1: him some grace. I had to understanding, you know, I
- 23:39Speaker 1: had to present some understanding as to why my father
- 23:45Speaker 1: made some of the decisions that he made. But I
- 23:48Speaker 1: think because he was so open and so transparent and so,
- 23:53Speaker 1: you know, he was just showing up with all this accountability.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The wall of of I did what I did and
- 24:01Speaker 1: get over it was down, you know, he I there
- 24:06Speaker 1: was some trust developed there because he was being so
- 24:09Speaker 1: honest in that moment um, and I just felt it
- 24:13Speaker 1: was necessary. I felt there's so many people out there
- 24:16Speaker 1: that have this built up unforgiveness bitterness towards people in
- 24:22Speaker 1: their lives or in their experience, that if they just
- 24:25Speaker 1: would have an honest conversation um and hopefully a mature conversation,
- 24:30Speaker 1: that they would get the answers they need and you know,
- 24:33Speaker 1: be able to push forward and move on um and
- 24:36Speaker 1: not hope that bitterness because at the end of the day,
- 24:38Speaker 1: that's killing us, you know what I mean, that the
- 24:42Speaker 1: weight of that is killing us. And I just was
- 24:46Speaker 1: hoping that through my conversation, somebody would be bold enough
- 24:50Speaker 1: and you know, have the courage to finally have the
- 24:52Speaker 1: conversation that needed to take place between themselves and their
- 24:56Speaker 1: loved one. Well, ladies and gentlemen too. I had the
- 25:00Speaker 1: fortunate opportunity to see uh a rose starting to bloom,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and over the years I've seen it bro and it's
- 25:08Speaker 1: become a garden. A gardener showcase a singing ability, acting ability,
- 25:14Speaker 1: the ability to be honest and courageous. You can see
- 25:18Speaker 1: her every Sunday now on Stars you know Power three
- 25:21Speaker 1: raising Canaan and the beauty of it. She plays his
- 25:24Speaker 1: wonderful character with mini levels. She's from Houston, Texas, but
- 25:28Speaker 1: she talks like a New Yorker. Ken your pears and
