- 0:00Speaker 1: The House has passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, known
- 0:06Speaker 1: as HR forty four oh five, with a one twenty
- 0:10Speaker 1: seven to one vote, with five not voting at all.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It was taken up under suspension of the rules, which
- 0:17Speaker 1: means it needed a two thirds majority and still passed easily.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Every Democrat and all but one Republican voted yes. The
- 0:26Speaker 1: lone no vote was Representative Clay Higgins, a Republican from Louisiana,
- 0:31Speaker 1: who says he's worried about privacy for victims and people
- 0:35Speaker 1: mentioned who aren't charged with crimes.
- 0:38Speaker 2: What the bill does is passed by the House is this.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It orders the Department of Justice to release all files,
- 0:45Speaker 1: all records, all communications, and investigative materials related to Jeffrey
- 0:52Speaker 1: Epstein and associated investigations. The Department of Justice has a
- 0:57Speaker 1: short deadline thirty in some reports, fifteen and others depending
- 1:03Speaker 1: on version and the final texts and how that will
- 1:06Speaker 1: be controlled to make the material public once it becomes law.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It also allows reactions to protect the identity of victims
- 1:16Speaker 1: and minors avoid harming ongoing investigations as well, and explicitly
- 1:22Speaker 1: says the Department of Justice cannot withhold or redact information
- 1:27Speaker 1: just because it's politically embarrassing, reputationally damaging, or politically sensitive
- 1:34Speaker 1: quote unquote. So the question now is what is next. Well,
- 1:38Speaker 1: the bill now goes to the Senate. The majority leader there,
- 1:42Speaker 1: John Thune, has said he expects a Senate to consider
- 1:46Speaker 1: it fairly quickly and possibly as soon as later today
- 1:50Speaker 1: or tomorrow. But it still needs sixty votes there. And
- 1:54Speaker 1: let's be honest, with a Senate divide the way it is,
- 1:57Speaker 1: where you couldn't even get sixty votes to keep America's
- 1:59Speaker 1: government open, nothing is promising now. If it passes the Senate,
- 2:05Speaker 1: it would then go to President Donald Trump's desk for signature. Now,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the bill is aimed at forcing the DOJ, as I
- 2:12Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, to release a broad universe of Epstein related materials,
- 2:16Speaker 1: including case files related to Epstein's sex trafficking investigation and
- 2:21Speaker 1: prosecution his associate Maxwell, as well flight logs and transportation
- 2:27Speaker 1: records where DOJ has them, internal communications and investigative notes
- 2:34Speaker 1: files that mention public officials, government employees, and other individuals
- 2:39Speaker 1: connected to the case. Separate from the bill, The House
- 2:43Speaker 1: Oversight Committee already dumped more than twenty thousand pages of
- 2:47Speaker 1: documents from the Epstein estate within the last week. That's
- 2:51Speaker 1: obviously a lot of documents that have now gone public.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But this new bill is meant to go further by
- 2:58Speaker 1: targeting the Department of Justice specific files. Now, the other
- 3:03Speaker 1: question is where does the president stand on this. Trump's
- 3:07Speaker 1: stance has shifted well visibly over the last few days.
- 3:12Speaker 1: His earlier stance was, why are we doing this? There's
- 3:15Speaker 1: nothing there. Let's move on and get the work of
- 3:17Speaker 1: the American people done. Then, when Representative Thomas Massey and
- 3:22Speaker 1: Representative Rocanna started the discharge petition to force a vote,
- 3:26Speaker 1: Trump and his allies pressure Republicans not to sign it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: One administration official report.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He called signing the petition a hostile act to the administration.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But then Trump said, fine, you're gonna play this way
- 3:39Speaker 1: and you're going to turn this into a democratic hoax,
- 3:41Speaker 1: then we'll give you total transparency.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Once it became clear that the bill was going to
- 3:47Speaker 2: have the votes and the.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Discharge petition crossed a two eighteen signature threshold, Trump publicly
- 3:52Speaker 1: said to Republicans in the House they should vote to
- 3:56Speaker 1: release the files, saying, quote, I've got nothing to hide.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Republicans should support transparency and move on from what he
- 4:03Speaker 1: said is nothing but a democratic hoax, just like Russia collusion.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm all for it, Sure I would, was another thing
- 4:11Speaker 1: that the President said. The White House also has a
- 4:15Speaker 1: write up amplifying this line, telling Republicans go and do it,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and questioned whether Democrats will equally be transparent about people
- 4:25Speaker 1: in their orbit who might be named in the files.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So the short version is this, Donald Trump said it
- 4:32Speaker 1: was nothing at the beginning. Many believe that is still true.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But now he's saying give it all to the American
- 4:39Speaker 1: people and telling Republicans to move forward, which they've clearly done.
- 4:44Speaker 1: There's also the political dynamics of this moving into the Senate.
- 4:48Speaker 1: When you have a four hundred and twenty seven to
- 4:51Speaker 1: one vote, This makes this the most bipartisan moment of
- 4:54Speaker 1: Congress in my lifetime. The bill's sponsors and most vocal
- 4:59Speaker 1: support include Roe Conna, Thomas Massey, Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Bobert,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and Nancy Mace, a very ideologically mixed group that is
- 5:08Speaker 1: clashed with leadership at times as well. Speaker Mike Johnson
- 5:12Speaker 1: ultimately voted for the bill, but is still calling it
- 5:15Speaker 1: a political show vote and warning that forcing the DOJ
- 5:20Speaker 1: to to classify within a fixed timeline is dangerous. As
- 5:23Speaker 1: he described it from an intel perspective, He's openly asking
- 5:28Speaker 1: the Scent to change the bill to add more protections
- 5:31Speaker 1: for victims and also four whistleblowers. I want you to
- 5:35Speaker 1: just pause what you're doing for the next sixty seconds,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and I want you to imagine Lucy, a seven year old.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Her stomach often aches with hunger, her small hands instead
- 5:45Speaker 1: of holding crayons. Not only the struggle of survival on
- 5:49Speaker 1: dusty streets, school is a distant dream, medical care forgotten hope.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Lucy's potential is overshadowed. Her future is dim. But what
- 5:59Speaker 1: if someone stepped in? What if there was a way
- 6:01Speaker 1: to ignite hope for children just like Lucy? Well there is,
- 6:05Speaker 1: and that is with Compassion International Partners and the local
- 6:09Speaker 1: churches that provide children holistic support more than just food.
- 6:14Speaker 1: They receive critical medical care, life changing education, vital skills training,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and spiritual development, all in Jesus's name. And you can
- 6:24Speaker 1: empower a child just like Lucy to break free from poverty.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I want you to do what I've done and sponsor
- 6:31Speaker 1: a child today. You can visit Compassion dot com. That's
- 6:35Speaker 1: compassion dot com. Now the White Alison. The GOP messaging
- 6:40Speaker 1: now is clear, there is nothing to hide. It's embarrassing
- 6:44Speaker 1: to name names for some, but they're saying let it
- 6:48Speaker 1: all be out there. So what is next Over the
- 6:51Speaker 1: next few days? The big question is this, does the
- 6:54Speaker 1: Senate change the bill? And if the Senate amends or
- 6:57Speaker 1: adds more privacy protections, the legislation would then have to
- 7:01Speaker 1: go back to the House.
- 7:03Speaker 2: How broad will the actual release be?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Even if it becomes law, the DJ can still redact
- 7:09Speaker 1: the victims and active investigations. The fight will be over
- 7:13Speaker 1: whether the DJ tries to stretch those categories or whether
- 7:17Speaker 1: Congress pushes for a very aggressive disclosure. And then there's
- 7:21Speaker 1: more documents to be dumped. In general, the House oversight
- 7:25Speaker 1: already releasing twenty thousand pages from the estate. If this
- 7:28Speaker 1: bill becomes law, DOJ production could be larger, more sensitive,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and more directly tied to federal investigations.
- 7:36Speaker 2: And who knew what and when?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Now here's one other part that needs to be brought
- 7:41Speaker 1: up and addressed as well, and that is just well
- 7:45Speaker 1: the politics of this. Here is what James Comer had
- 7:49Speaker 1: to say about it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: In the House.
- 7:51Speaker 3: They have no idea, Laura. They're just fishing. They don't
- 7:54Speaker 3: care about the victims. They don't care about providing justice
- 7:57Speaker 3: for the victims or giving the American people the truth.
- 8:00Speaker 2: They only care.
- 8:00Speaker 3: About one thing, and that's trying to embarrass Donald Trump.
- 8:04Speaker 3: They hope and pray there's something in these documents that
- 8:07Speaker 3: will embarrass Trump. I've subpoena the estate. We've produced over
- 8:11Speaker 3: sixty five thousand pages of documents, and there's nothing in
- 8:15Speaker 3: there about Donald Trump that hadn't already been disclosed that
- 8:18Speaker 3: President Trump hasn't already explained. All we find are new
- 8:22Speaker 3: problems with Democrats like Stacey Plaskett and Hakeem Jeffries.
- 8:27Speaker 4: So why not just release the files? I mean, if
- 8:29Speaker 4: there's nothing in there, who cares? Why not for transparency
- 8:35Speaker 4: sake and the administration Obviously players of the administration said
- 8:38Speaker 4: they were going to be released, and then some were released,
- 8:41Speaker 4: but not all of them. The President said, go ahead
- 8:43Speaker 4: and release them.
- 8:44Speaker 2: So just get it out there.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And have it done with.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Well, that's what I've encouraged the White House to do,
- 8:50Speaker 3: and they're working with us. They've released what they can
- 8:53Speaker 3: legally release. There's grand jury testimony and the Trump administration
- 8:58Speaker 3: asked a judge to release that grand jury testimony, and
- 9:02Speaker 3: the judge, who was an Obama appointee, rejected the Trump
- 9:07Speaker 3: Department of Justice request to release the grand jury testimony,
- 9:10Speaker 3: so a judge has to issue that. But look, I
- 9:13Speaker 3: think the Trump administration is working with us a lot
- 9:17Speaker 3: more than what the media has given him credit for.
- 9:19Speaker 3: But I've encouraged the President to disclose everything. I'm glad
- 9:23Speaker 3: that he's gone ahead and put this issue to borrow,
- 9:26Speaker 3: this Dutch Art expetition behind us. This is just a
- 9:29Speaker 3: stunt by the Democrats and a few disgruntled Republicans. We're
- 9:33Speaker 3: getting the documents, and as soon as we get them
- 9:36Speaker 3: on the Oversight Committee, we're making them public. And I
- 9:38Speaker 3: think that's what the President wants, and hopefully we'll get
- 9:40Speaker 3: all the documents released and we can move on to
- 9:43Speaker 3: the issues that the American people care about.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It's clear this is political, and that's exactly what James
- 9:49Speaker 1: Comer was calling out.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Again.
- 9:51Speaker 1: The Republicans voted for the transparency because what the Democrats
- 9:54Speaker 1: have done is they've used the abuse of sexual assault
- 9:57Speaker 1: victims to try to score political points against Donald Trump,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and now it's backfiring. Yet again, it's all about transparency.
- 10:07Speaker 1: That is what President Trump promised when he was elected president,
- 10:10Speaker 1: yet again exposing much that the government was hiding from
- 10:14Speaker 1: all of us. We now know that it's moving forward
- 10:18Speaker 1: with the Epstein papers. I call them papers because it
- 10:22Speaker 1: is a lie to say that there is an Epstein file.
- 10:25Speaker 1: There are a lot of documents to deal with Jeffrey Epstein,
- 10:28Speaker 1: but it is not a file in the way that
- 10:29Speaker 1: it was described before Donald Trump became president. You know
- 10:34Speaker 1: when the Democrats were trying to weaponize it. Well, now
- 10:38Speaker 1: we know we're going to get to see those files
- 10:41Speaker 1: or those papers.
- 10:43Speaker 2: As a Speaker of.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The House, Mike Johnson led the way with a House
- 10:47Speaker 1: vote in favor of disclosing exactly what we have at
- 10:52Speaker 1: the DOJ. He stated publicly a press conference, I'm going
- 10:56Speaker 1: to vote to move this forward.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Despite describing the bill as.
- 10:59Speaker 1: A recklessly flawed bill, Johnson also said that the measure
- 11:05Speaker 1: is a way to demonstrate transparency and there's nothing to hide.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Specifically in the context of responding to allegations that the
- 11:14Speaker 1: files might implicate Donald Trumper be used as a political weapon.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Now, Johnson went to the floor of the House.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And repeatedly called the bill dangerously flawed because he believes
- 11:26Speaker 1: it lacks sufficient protection for victims, whistle blowers, and innocent
- 11:31Speaker 1: third parties whose names might appear in the files. He
- 11:35Speaker 1: criticized how the bill was drafted, for example, pointing out
- 11:39Speaker 1: that the authors of the discharge petition had sided the
- 11:42Speaker 1: wrong section of the US Code and that the legislation
- 11:47Speaker 1: could force the release of child sexual abuse material due
- 11:52Speaker 1: to imprecise language. Johnson also emphasized that the House cannot
- 11:57Speaker 1: amend the bill under the discharge petition sets, so he
- 12:01Speaker 1: wants to senate via the majority of Leader John Thum
- 12:05Speaker 1: to make corrections before final passage. He said he's been
- 12:09Speaker 1: working with a small army of lawyers on this issue.
- 12:13Speaker 1: He also accused Democrats forcing what he called a political
- 12:18Speaker 1: show vote on this issue and said it was irresponsible
- 12:22Speaker 1: how it is happening. I want you to hear Speaker
- 12:26Speaker 1: Johnson in his own words from the House talking about
- 12:30Speaker 1: this before the vote.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Democrats are using the Epstein tragedy, the unspeakable evils that
- 12:37Speaker 5: this guy committed with his trafficking ring, and all of
- 12:40Speaker 5: the abuses that they that they made these young women
- 12:43Speaker 5: go through. They're using that as a political weapon to
- 12:46Speaker 5: try to distract from their failures as a party and
- 12:50Speaker 5: to try their best to try to tie President Trump
- 12:52Speaker 5: somehow into this wretched scandal.
- 12:55Speaker 2: The President had nothing to do with it.
- 12:56Speaker 5: He's been very clear and he has nothing to hide,
- 12:58Speaker 5: and that's why he's endorsed the vote today. I suspect
- 13:01Speaker 5: this vote will be probably unanimous. But here's the important
- 13:04Speaker 5: point that everybody needs to understand. We have been advocates
- 13:07Speaker 5: of maximum transparency, but we have also insisted that the
- 13:11Speaker 5: victims be carefully protected. The Oversight Committee has been doing
- 13:16Speaker 5: extraordinary work, and we've got some of the most vigorous
- 13:19Speaker 5: advocates on the Republican and Democrat side on the Oversight Committee.
- 13:24Speaker 5: They've been working in earnest to deliver transparency for the
- 13:26Speaker 5: American people and to do it in a responsible manner.
- 13:29Speaker 5: What do we mean by that the bypart is an
- 13:31Speaker 5: effort over there is already producing all the results that
- 13:35Speaker 5: the discharged petition seeks and much much more. Chairman Comer
- 13:40Speaker 5: and all of these advocates over there have been releasing
- 13:42Speaker 5: thousands of documents, for example from the Epstein estate.
- 13:45Speaker 2: By the way, in my view.
- 13:47Speaker 5: That's been the greatest treasure trove of information because it's
- 13:49Speaker 5: yielded for us Epstein's own personal flight logs, his financial records,
- 13:53Speaker 5: his daily calendars, and so much more. But importantly, none
- 13:57Speaker 5: of that was addressed or is addressed in the legislation
- 14:00Speaker 5: that's being voted on today. The estate files wouldn't even
- 14:03Speaker 5: have been encompassed in that, and so it goes to
- 14:06Speaker 5: show that the Oversight Committee is doing it from the
- 14:08Speaker 5: direct way. From the very beginning, we've been insistent that
- 14:11Speaker 5: this matter be handled carefully, with the utmost caution and
- 14:14Speaker 5: care for the people who have been harmed. They should
- 14:17Speaker 5: not be made to suffer any longer. We're talking about
- 14:20Speaker 5: real people's lives at stake here and young victims who
- 14:24Speaker 5: don't want to be dragged into this political game that
- 14:27Speaker 5: could get hurt further. But the Democrats are rushing the
- 14:29Speaker 5: release of thousands of unsubstantiated documents that may be included
- 14:33Speaker 5: in this that are going to be in the public
- 14:34Speaker 5: domain with the passage of this bill. And there are
- 14:37Speaker 5: serious deficiencies in the legislation that I have noted at length,
- 14:40Speaker 5: and Republicans have to work to address those deficiencies in
- 14:44Speaker 5: the Senate if and when this legislation is advanced. I
- 14:47Speaker 5: stood before the American public today at our press conference,
- 14:50Speaker 5: and I explained in detail that the dangers of the
- 14:54Speaker 5: discharge petition. We have posted at my website Speaker dot
- 14:58Speaker 5: gov a summary. The legal council, a small army of
- 15:00Speaker 5: lawyers put this together. I used to be a federal
- 15:03Speaker 5: court litigator. Many of my colleagues who have spoken today
- 15:05Speaker 5: were we understand the dangers of how this was haphazardly
- 15:08Speaker 5: drawn up and among them. By the way, mister Speaker,
- 15:11Speaker 5: before I forget seeking AMAS consent to enter into this
- 15:14Speaker 5: document of the record, it is that. It's on the website.
- 15:17Speaker 5: It's entitled how the flaws of HR forty four h
- 15:20Speaker 5: five could revictimize Epstein's victims, create new victims, and damage
- 15:24Speaker 5: the judicial system.
- 15:25Speaker 2: It is dated today, thank you.
- 15:27Speaker 5: And it summarizes just five or six of the major concerns.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Among them, it fails to fully protect victim privacy, It
- 15:34Speaker 5: could create new categories of victims. It potentially jeopardizes grand
- 15:38Speaker 5: jury secrecy. It fails to prohibit release of child sexual
- 15:41Speaker 5: abuse materials that are not appropriately defined in the legislation.
- 15:45Speaker 5: It jeopardizes future federal investigations, and we have National security
- 15:49Speaker 5: currncerns regarding classified information. We'll put this in the record
- 15:53Speaker 5: because we need the legislative record to reflect what is
- 15:56Speaker 5: the legislative intent behind this vote.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I used to litigate cases.
- 15:59Speaker 5: We would litigate federal statutes and whether or not they
- 16:02Speaker 5: could survive, and legislative intent is important and we need
- 16:04Speaker 5: to say clearly for the record. As a Speaker of
- 16:06Speaker 5: the House, I'm saying to you, this legislation that will
- 16:08Speaker 5: pass today is flawed and it must be amended. The
- 16:11Speaker 5: question is why didn't we amend it here before we
- 16:13Speaker 5: passed it because the authors won't allow it because under
- 16:16Speaker 5: the rules of the House in or discharge petition, they
- 16:18Speaker 5: have to agree to consent for the legislation to be amended,
- 16:21Speaker 5: and they are not doing that. So now we rely
- 16:23Speaker 5: upon our partners in the other chamber to get that done,
- 16:26Speaker 5: and they need to do that. The victims deserve our
- 16:28Speaker 5: utmost respect. In fact, they should be saluted for their courage.
- 16:32Speaker 5: And the young women who have not come forward who
- 16:34Speaker 5: are now some of them are middle h women who
- 16:36Speaker 5: have not come forward, also deserve our respect and they
- 16:39Speaker 5: deserve to be protected. Republicans support transparency. We want maximum transparency,
- 16:44Speaker 5: especially when it comes to disclosing the names of anybody
- 16:47Speaker 5: who had anything to do with these evils, anybody who
- 16:50Speaker 5: conspired with or aided in any way Jeffrey Epstein.
- 16:54Speaker 2: They must be brought to justice.
- 16:56Speaker 5: We want the bill to be amended so it doesn't
- 16:58Speaker 5: at the same time violate victim p privacy, create new victims,
- 17:01Speaker 5: disclose the names of any whistleblower or informant cause the
- 17:04Speaker 5: release of grand jury materials or child sexual abuse materials,
- 17:08Speaker 5: or under minor national security. And if and when the
- 17:10Speaker 5: Senate takes this up, we will work with our colleagues
- 17:13Speaker 5: over there to make sure that these things are corrected.
- 17:16Speaker 5: I'll I'll just close with this simple thought. We've been
- 17:22Speaker 5: at this a while, it's drug on for a while,
- 17:25Speaker 5: but it's time for this to come to light. We
- 17:28Speaker 5: are I I expect that this will be a unanimous
- 17:31Speaker 5: vote and it will reflect what I think every member
- 17:34Speaker 5: in this chamber. And I'll say this now, at least
- 17:37Speaker 5: in recent days, every member of the chamber on the
- 17:39Speaker 5: Democrats side, they didn't say anything for four years, but
- 17:41Speaker 5: they're for maximum transparency now and so is this side.
- 17:44Speaker 5: But we want to do it in a respectful and
- 17:47Speaker 5: careful manner so that we don't subject innocent people to
- 17:50Speaker 5: further harm. And that has been the whole thing. I
- 17:53Speaker 5: told all my members today, I'll be voting yes on this,
- 17:55Speaker 5: and I suspect almost everyone will. We'll send it to
- 17:58Speaker 5: the Senate and we hope it's corrected.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Thank you for the time. I'm speaker.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Now you bet you listen to what he just said there,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and it really shows you just how sick the Democratic
- 18:07Speaker 1: Party is. They don't care who they hurt. The Democratic
- 18:12Speaker 1: Party just wants us to be a political issue. They
- 18:16Speaker 1: want it to be a political issue. I'm going to
- 18:22Speaker 1: say it again. They want it to be a political
- 18:26Speaker 1: issue to hurt Donald Trump. That's it. That's the whole thing.
- 18:33Speaker 1: That's literally the whole ballgame. It's the only thing that
- 18:38Speaker 1: they care about. It's sad because there are flaws. But
- 18:43Speaker 1: if you're a Republican, as the speaker described there, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: you vote against this, it would be used and weaponized
- 18:51Speaker 1: against you. That is one of the sad and sick
- 18:54Speaker 1: problems of all of this. The final point that the
- 18:58Speaker 1: President made about this is fine, go ahead and make
- 19:02Speaker 1: it public. Why so it's clear there is nothing that
- 19:07Speaker 1: we as Republicans are trying to hide put it all
- 19:12Speaker 1: out there so that everyone can see it. It's also
- 19:16Speaker 1: sad that the Democrats can't even do that the responsible way,
- 19:21Speaker 1: and the only thing they want to do is try
- 19:23Speaker 1: to put Republicans in a corner and they don't care
- 19:26Speaker 1: what victims they hurt in the process.
- 19:31Speaker 2: There was a major meeting in the Oval Office.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It's going to have a big impact on many Americans
- 19:36Speaker 1: and more than one trillion dollars of new investment in
- 19:40Speaker 1: the United States of America. This news comes as the
- 19:43Speaker 1: Saudi Crown Prince told President Donald Trump on Tuesday that
- 19:47Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia will be upping its investment commitment in the
- 19:52Speaker 1: US to nearly one trillion. That is up from six
- 19:55Speaker 1: hundred billion that it was pledged in May. Trump received
- 19:59Speaker 1: the Crown Prince on the South Lawn with plenty of
- 20:01Speaker 1: well pomp, culminating with three F thirty fives and three
- 20:06Speaker 1: F fifteen flying over the White House. After giving the
- 20:10Speaker 1: Crown Prince a tour of the president Ya Walk of
- 20:12Speaker 1: Fame along the West Wing Colonnade in a photo opportunity,
- 20:16Speaker 1: they held a bilateral meeting before reporters in the Oval
- 20:20Speaker 1: Office quote, I believe, mister President, today and tomorrow we're going
- 20:24Speaker 1: to announce that we are going to increase the six
- 20:27Speaker 1: hundred billion to almost one trillion of investment, real investment
- 20:31Speaker 1: and real opportunity by details in many areas, and the
- 20:35Speaker 1: agreement that we are signing today in many areas of technology,
- 20:40Speaker 1: artificial intelligence and materials, magnets, etc. Will create a lot
- 20:44Speaker 1: of domestic opportunities. He went on to add Trump, who
- 20:48Speaker 1: moments earlier said he would like to see the Saudi
- 20:51Speaker 1: investment rise to one trillion and joked he would need
- 20:53Speaker 1: to work on the Crown prints. I want you to
- 20:56Speaker 1: take a listen to what the President had to say
- 20:58Speaker 1: as he introduced the Crown Prince to the media inside
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Oval Office.
- 21:03Speaker 6: Extremely respected man in the Oval Office today and a
- 21:07Speaker 6: friend of mine for a long time, a very good
- 21:09Speaker 6: friend of mine.
- 21:12Speaker 7: I'm very proud of the job he's done.
- 21:13Speaker 6: When he's done is incredible in terms of human rights
- 21:16Speaker 6: and everything else.
- 21:18Speaker 7: And he's the Crown Prince, the.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Future King, and I just want to pay my greatest
- 21:25Speaker 6: respect to your father King, who was an amazing man.
- 21:29Speaker 7: I met him early on. He freed him at the
- 21:32Speaker 7: airport at an age it.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Was pretty high up there, and it was about one
- 21:35Speaker 6: hundred and seventeen degrees that he was standing in the
- 21:38Speaker 6: red carpet as I came out of the plane, and
- 21:42Speaker 6: he's amazing. And when I met his brilliant son, who
- 21:46Speaker 6: was at the Oval office. Shortly thereafter you came in
- 21:50Speaker 6: representing the country, and I called the father.
- 21:53Speaker 7: I said, this guy is fantastic. And I don't know if.
- 21:56Speaker 6: That helped you or hurt you, but obviously it couldn't
- 21:59Speaker 6: have hurt too much because here you are right for
- 22:02Speaker 6: we had a great mating and the office has changed
- 22:05Speaker 6: quite a bit, and we inherited a mess. You actually
- 22:09Speaker 6: told me you thought the country was in big trouble.
- 22:11Speaker 6: I'm not going to use the exact word that you use.
- 22:14Speaker 6: I refused to say that you thought our country was
- 22:17Speaker 6: dead a year and a half two years ago, but
- 22:19Speaker 6: a country was in trouble. And now we have the
- 22:21Speaker 6: hottest country in the world. You said that also, and
- 22:24Speaker 6: we do we have. The United States is right now
- 22:27Speaker 6: the hottest country in the world. And between the tariffs
- 22:31Speaker 6: and the election November fifth election, we've done things that
- 22:36Speaker 6: nobody can believe.
- 22:37Speaker 7: Twenty one trillion dollars will be the.
- 22:40Speaker 6: Amount invested in the United States or committed to invest
- 22:45Speaker 6: in one year. So I mere nine months worked to
- 22:48Speaker 6: almost eighteen trillion dollars. Biden as an example the Biden administration,
- 22:54Speaker 6: if you call it that shot to me, it was
- 22:56Speaker 6: the Biden lack of administration. Less than one trillion for
- 23:01Speaker 6: four years. We're going to be twenty one trillion for
- 23:05Speaker 6: one year. I think that's hard to believe. The biggest
- 23:10Speaker 6: in history was a certain country three trillion. We're going
- 23:14Speaker 6: to be twenty one trillion. On top of that, prices
- 23:17Speaker 6: are coming down. We inherited a mess with high prices.
- 23:21Speaker 6: The worst inflation in the history of our country. We
- 23:23Speaker 6: had inflation that was a single four years, the worst
- 23:27Speaker 6: inflation in the history of the United States.
- 23:30Speaker 7: Gas prices through the route.
- 23:33Speaker 6: And that's after destroying our petroleum reserve, which was meant
- 23:37Speaker 6: for wars and big emergencies, not to try and win
- 23:40Speaker 6: an election. They opened up the reserve so that people
- 23:44Speaker 6: get three dollars less than gasoline, and it didn't work.
- 23:47Speaker 7: They got about three cents less.
- 23:49Speaker 6: Because as big as those reserves are, the peanuts when
- 23:52Speaker 6: you're talking about that kind of traffic and we're rebuilding
- 23:57Speaker 6: the reserves.
- 23:57Speaker 7: We're doing all of this, and we've done.
- 24:00Speaker 6: We're also bringing down prices very substantially, and we've already
- 24:03Speaker 6: brought them down very very substantially.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Gasoline is way down.
- 24:07Speaker 6: I think you'll be seeing two dollars gasoline, but we're
- 24:10Speaker 6: now at two fifty to forty five, somewhere lower than that.
- 24:15Speaker 6: It was four fifty five dollars, six dollars, three fifty three,
- 24:18Speaker 6: seventy five under by no all different numbers, but way high.
- 24:22Speaker 6: And we have energy way down. But the biggest thing
- 24:26Speaker 6: to me, because I know what it means in jobs,
- 24:28Speaker 6: is the fact that we're at over seventeen trillion dollars
- 24:32Speaker 6: scott and we expect to be around twenty twenty one
- 24:36Speaker 6: trillion dollars in one year. And that's many times bigger
- 24:39Speaker 6: than in history. The highest number was three trillion dollars,
- 24:44Speaker 6: and we're going to be a twenty one trillion.
- 24:45Speaker 7: That means new plants, new AI, new auto plants.
- 24:49Speaker 6: We have auto plants coming in from Canada and from Mexico,
- 24:53Speaker 6: from Germany, from Japan. Toyota just agreed to invest ten
- 24:57Speaker 6: billion dollars on new auto plants, all American workers.
- 25:02Speaker 7: We've never been in a position like this. You can
- 25:05Speaker 7: go back to the beginning.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Our country has never been in a position like this,
- 25:10Speaker 6: and it really is because of the fact that we
- 25:13Speaker 6: use tariffs to bring all this money in. And you're
- 25:16Speaker 6: going to see the results in a year where these
- 25:18Speaker 6: plans start to open up. We have more plants under
- 25:21Speaker 6: construction now than at any time in the history of
- 25:24Speaker 6: our country. And these are big plants. These are the
- 25:26Speaker 6: biggest plants anywhere in the world. And I want to
- 25:29Speaker 6: thank you because you've agreed to invest six hundred billion
- 25:31Speaker 6: dollars into the United States.
- 25:33Speaker 7: And because my friends, he might make it a trillion,
- 25:37Speaker 7: but I'm going to have to work on him. But
- 25:39Speaker 7: it's six hundred We can count on six hundred billion.
- 25:43Speaker 6: But that number could go up a little bit higher. Yes,
- 25:46Speaker 6: I don't know, we'll see, but we appreciate it very much.
- 25:50Speaker 6: So Sadia is going to be investing at least six
- 25:53Speaker 6: hundred billion dollars, and that means investments in plants, in companies,
- 25:58Speaker 6: money on Wall Street, and what it really means for
- 26:02Speaker 6: everybody that really counts as jobs, a lot of jobs.
- 26:06Speaker 6: We have a lot of jobs. So I just want
- 26:08Speaker 6: to thank you. We've been really good friends for a
- 26:10Speaker 6: long period of time. We've always been on the same
- 26:12Speaker 6: side of every issue.
- 26:14Speaker 7: I think we've done a great job.
- 26:16Speaker 6: In wiping out the nuclear capacity of Iran. Nobody else
- 26:21Speaker 6: could have done that, No other president would have done it.
- 26:25Speaker 6: We had the pilots in the Oval office right here.
- 26:27Speaker 6: We were celebrating a very successful attack. So I had
- 26:30Speaker 6: them in with that beautiful be too bomber that's over there,
- 26:34Speaker 6: and they said, Sir, for twenty two years we practiced
- 26:38Speaker 6: this attack.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Our predecessors. These were very young guys.
- 26:42Speaker 6: So twenty two years they said, our predecessors and us
- 26:46Speaker 6: practice the attack on Iran. But no president ever gave
- 26:51Speaker 6: us the go ahead. Three times a year they went
- 26:54Speaker 6: out and they practiced the attack. Nobody let us do
- 26:57Speaker 6: it until you came along. And I let them do
- 26:59Speaker 6: it because the right things to do. You can't have
- 27:01Speaker 6: a nuclear rn and so we put you in a
- 27:04Speaker 6: very good position. But I just want to say, it's
- 27:06Speaker 6: an honor to be your friend, and it's an honor
- 27:08Speaker 6: that you're here, and if you'd like to say a
- 27:10Speaker 6: few words, but thank you very much.
- 27:13Speaker 1: You can hear the present there making it clear that
- 27:16Speaker 1: we have an ally in Saudi Arabia when it comes
- 27:18Speaker 1: to fighting terrorism, something of the President wanted to point out,
- 27:21Speaker 1: also talking about how they work together to make sure
- 27:25Speaker 1: they took out that Iran nuclear plant and one trillion
- 27:29Speaker 1: dollars of investment coming into the United States of America
- 27:33Speaker 1: as well. Don't forget to share this podcast, by the way,
