- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. This is Boxing
- 0:03Before Dark. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Back. Back.
- 0:06Back. Back. Back. Before. Before. Before. Before.
- 0:11Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing Before Dark. This
- 0:15is Boxing Before Dark. Alright. Boxing Before
- 0:25Dark. We are up in your ears. And we're here
- 0:29to talk the fights. Shanada, how is Japan? Japan
- 0:35is awesome. Japan is awesome. Too hot. I just
- 0:39got back from a week -long vacation up north.
- 0:41I did four days in Aomori and one day in Sendai.
- 0:48Aomori was great. I don't think very many people
- 0:50get up that far, but it's like at the very tip
- 0:54before Hokkaido. Hokkaido is that other island,
- 0:58right? Yeah, the big island up near Russia. I
- 1:03was actually really shocked about how much English
- 1:05there was. I found three different bars where
- 1:08the bartenders all spoke enough English to have
- 1:10a conversation. It was really nice. That's cool.
- 1:13Yeah, I don't get that in Chiba. That's fun.
- 1:21Unfortunately, we have to start with some not
- 1:24-so -fun news. Daisuke Sugita found dead from
- 1:30a gunshot wound. What do you know about this?
- 1:35Daisuke Sugita also worked full time as a police
- 1:40officer in Tokyo. Apparently he was found with
- 1:48a gunshot wound to the head and they're investigating
- 1:50it as a suicide. Probably used his work gun.
- 1:57Yeah, his service pistol. Yeah, but he was also
- 2:00an active boxer. I think he last fought in, like,
- 2:03March. And won, but not that that matters. Yeah,
- 2:11brain damage. We see, over on the MMA side, there's
- 2:16a guy named BJ Penn. Pretty well known. Maybe
- 2:20you've heard of him. He's from the era you might
- 2:22know. Yeah, I recognize the name. BJ Penn is
- 2:27standing trial for domestic violence, for elder
- 2:31abuse, and violating a restraining order. He
- 2:36has Capgras Syndrome, where he believes his family
- 2:39was murdered and replaced by imposters. Yeah.
- 2:45To steal his money, is what he says. The point
- 2:50is, like, the damage from combat sports is fucking
- 2:54real. Even if you... Yeah. Well, I mean, that's
- 3:00definitely a factor. But I also think he didn't
- 3:05have a great life before boxing. Oh, shit. And
- 3:09being part of the Tokyo police force, he probably
- 3:13sees a lot of bad shit. So... Type of stuff that
- 3:18they... Tried to not let us foreigners see. Yeah.
- 3:24Anyways, it's just really sad. The first announcement
- 3:27I saw, it just said gunshot wound and that he
- 3:31was wearing his police uniform. So I was conspiracy
- 3:35theories all over the place about like a Yakuza
- 3:39hit or something. But it's being investigated
- 3:41as suicide. Yikes. Yeah. Also not so fun. I don't
- 3:49have a lot of info on this one. Colin Kearney.
- 3:52He's a 10 and 0 professional out of Scotland.
- 3:56He was out in Thailand. I think it was like a
- 3:59family or recreational trip. And he was in an
- 4:03accident with one of their little taxi carts.
- 4:07They call them tuk -tuks. Yeah, this one's really
- 4:11weird, actually. So he was drunk going back to
- 4:15his hotel. And he didn't have cash. So the driver
- 4:20said he'd take him to an ATM and was speeding
- 4:23past the hotel and he fell out of the tuk -tuk
- 4:30in front of his hotel and he hit his head on
- 4:33the pavement. Jeez. So he tried to stiff the
- 4:37driver, it sounds like. Or the driver pushed
- 4:41him out is one of the conspiracy theories. Or
- 4:44he was just drunk and like, hey, that's my hotel
- 4:47and fell out. He was in the ICU for a few days,
- 4:52but he didn't make it. Well, still, when fighters
- 4:59fall for the final time, try to give our respects
- 5:04to the competitors that make what we do, you
- 5:08and I. Yeah. Yeah, he still deserves a shout
- 5:14-out, even if it was just a drunken accident.
- 5:1810 -0. Might have put Scotland on the map. Who
- 5:22fucking knows? We'll never know now. That's really
- 5:27too bad. Yeah. But, yeah. Condolences to the
- 5:32Sugita and the Kearney families. Yeah. Rest in
- 5:40peace. To slightly lighten the mood, there's
- 5:45a thing going around Instagram. Someone thinks
- 5:47they saw Tank with his kid at Disneyland. Okay.
- 5:54All right, Tank, I see you. Trying to be a dad?
- 5:59While you're on the run from the FBI? Of all
- 6:03places to go. I don't know if it was him. The
- 6:08video's from quite far away, but I mean, from
- 6:10a distance, it really does look like Tank. And
- 6:14his lady. And his definitely not gay kid. Yeah,
- 6:20his toddler in a stroller. That is somehow already
- 6:24gay. Man, what the fuck are you even on about,
- 6:27Tank? Anyways. Yeah, let me get some other not
- 6:32-so -fun stuff out of the way. The boxing survey
- 6:34continues. BXNG .co slash survey. I want to hear
- 6:38what you think about the titles. The whole picture
- 6:41of world titles. And the Muhammad Ali Boxing
- 6:46Revival Act. It has left committee. Has not been
- 6:50brought to a vote yet. So there's still time.
- 6:53Luxmedia .net slash b -sides. Find the contact
- 6:58information for your senators there. Contact
- 7:01them. And tell them that this legislation is
- 7:05not good. All right. Positive news. Hiroto Kyoguchi
- 7:15and his wife are having maternity photos. They're
- 7:19pretty fucking cute, I must admit. They always
- 7:22do very adorable, like, professional photo shoots
- 7:26with them and their little dog. I was like, oh,
- 7:31this is another one of those because the first
- 7:33picture is just their faces with the dog. And
- 7:36then the next one, she's quite far along. She's
- 7:40glowing. Yeah. I was really happy to see it.
- 7:45I kind of think he was waiting to retire before
- 7:48they have kids. I would hope so. Like, you don't
- 7:52want to be getting your ass kicked. Lots of boxers
- 7:55have kids while they're active. Yeah. We'll talk
- 8:00about him in a moment, but Bam had his kid at
- 8:03the post -fight press conference. She's really
- 8:06cute. Yeah. But yeah, I'm really happy for the
- 8:10Kyoguchis. They seem like such an adorable little
- 8:14couple. Yeah, they do look like really fucking
- 8:20happy together. Yeah. Speaking of being happy
- 8:25together... Virgil Ortiz and Golden Boy are making
- 8:29positive progress on reconciling their relationship.
- 8:34It's looking like that Virgil is going to be
- 8:36back in the ring by fall or autumn. That's I
- 8:39don't like calling it fall. All right. It's this
- 8:46one. This is positive. Yes. I like this news.
- 8:49Quite positive. I'm happy for Virgil. Glad he's
- 8:52getting his like his shit back in order. Hopefully
- 8:57Goldenboy's doing right by him more than anything.
- 8:59I hope Virgil's being taken care of the way that
- 9:02he deserves. But he also needs to get a move
- 9:06on his career. Yeah. He's wasting like his prime
- 9:10years right now. Yeah. Arguing with Oscar about
- 9:14whatever. Dumb shit that I don't care about.
- 9:20Hold on a second. All right. We got way the fuck
- 9:36off topic. I'm going to cut it right there so
- 9:42that you know we went off topic. And you're going
- 9:45to have to go to Patreon to find out what we
- 9:47were talking about. So where are we left off?
- 9:50Virgil Ortiz, golden boy, making positive progress.
- 9:54Congratulations. I hope, Virgil, I hope you get
- 9:57what you're looking for. You fucking deserve
- 9:59it. You're like a world -class athlete. Goldenboy's
- 10:03just another promoter. Hamza Shiraz will be ordered
- 10:11to defend his WBO super middleweight title against
- 10:14Jakob Bank. Fist pumping. Nice. Jakob Bank getting
- 10:21his shot. Getting his just desserts. Yeah. Hell
- 10:29yeah, dude. That's all I really got is... Like,
- 10:31fucking hell yeah, brother. Fucking get after
- 10:34it, man. Get it. Yeah. I wonder where that fight
- 10:38will be. Like, geography -wise. Yeah, yeah. They
- 10:43could do it in UK. Like, Denmark can travel.
- 10:47They could do it in Denmark. The UK travels better,
- 10:52probably. I would agree with you. That UKlings
- 10:55are more accustomed to traveling for their people.
- 11:00And it's not that far. I can't imagine, like,
- 11:03plane tickets to Copenhagen are crazy expensive.
- 11:06Nah. Nonetheless, we will be watching. I will
- 11:13be fucking 100 % team Jakub. Of course. I actually
- 11:19have friends in Copenhagen. If it wasn't so soon,
- 11:22I would consider visiting them. It looks like
- 11:29they have a few months to set up a deal before
- 11:33it goes to purse bids. And so from the time that
- 11:37they have to make a deal for themselves, there's
- 11:42also a time break when purse bids will be called.
- 11:47That's true. You do have time. If you really
- 11:50wanted to go, you have time. Yeah. That's a lot
- 11:54of flying in one year, though. I've got like
- 11:5627 hours of flights to get home. Ish. Yeah. I
- 12:02do not envy you one bit. That's going to suck
- 12:06hard. Let's see here. Bam. Targeting a unification
- 12:12with WBO champ Christian Medina. I think it goes
- 12:19by Chispa. Good, but not the one I want to see.
- 12:24What are you hoping for? I want to see him in
- 12:27Takuma if he's unifying. Yeah, that would be
- 12:31the more fun unification. They were... I'm not
- 12:36complaining, like, loudly. This is really good.
- 12:39It's just not my, like, ideal. Your preference.
- 12:43Not your preference. Yeah. I'm just glad to see
- 12:47Bam is getting busy real quick. We talked about
- 12:57already the Kameda card. If Willie Baldo really
- 13:05fucked up, he could have had a payout with Bam.
- 13:11He could have. Instead, he loses to his fucking
- 13:14mandatory. Like, purse bid -ass mandatory. I
- 13:20don't know if it was a purse bid, but it was
- 13:22like that level of... It probably was. If the
- 13:27Kamedas are winning it, yeah, probably. Yeah.
- 13:33Anyway, Bam, Christian Medina, nice. Of course,
- 13:39the Takuma storyline, it writes itself. I also
- 13:44just think Takuma is the hardest fight for Bam
- 13:47at that weight class. Who's the IBF? Um... Jose
- 13:55Salas Reyes. Jose Reyes. Okay. And then WBA is
- 14:03Antonio Vargas. No, Bam just beat him. No, that's
- 14:07Bam. Yeah. Yeah. Boxing team needs to update
- 14:12their website. I would say Takuma is probably
- 14:16the better call. Like, as far as who presents
- 14:20the biggest challenge. Yeah. Here's a fun one.
- 14:28Ryosuke Nishida and Sam Goodman are going to
- 14:32be fighting for a 122 belt IBF interim. IBF does
- 14:38not call interims very often. I know this is
- 14:44a little weird to say, but the IBF is really
- 14:47doing Naoya a solid here and not making him fight
- 14:52one of these two clowns. Yeah, I kind of feel
- 14:56like they're preparing the division for Naoya
- 15:00to leave. Getting their interims in place. So
- 15:05that they can just elevate them day one. Are
- 15:10the other belt holders or belts similarly setting
- 15:16up? I can't find any news. The WBA has an interim.
- 15:20It's Victor Santillan. And the WBC and WBO do
- 15:26not. WBC doesn't have an interim? Not at that
- 15:33weight class. Holy shit. I know. But I'm excited
- 15:39for this fight. I am expecting Sam Goodman to
- 15:43get, well, not knocked out, because Nishida doesn't
- 15:46hit that hard, but just outclassed. Embarrassingly
- 15:51outclassed. I'm kind of on the other side of
- 15:57it, where I think Sam Goodman has the toolkit
- 16:00to keep Nishida at bay. I don't think so. I think
- 16:07Nishida's more skilled than people give him credit
- 16:10for. And I think your hatred for Sam Goodman
- 16:15runs deep. Also might be showing, yes. But I
- 16:20think this is a good matchup. It's a good fight.
- 16:21Very, very good fight. Triple G inducted into
- 16:27the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Motherfucking
- 16:31congratulations. You deserve it. The haters online
- 16:35are out to fucking lunch on this one. I can't
- 16:40believe how many people are upset about Triple
- 16:42G getting into the Hall of Fame. The one thing
- 16:48that I don't like about Triple G's success. is
- 16:52the way that they say most title defenses at
- 16:55middleweight when a solid 60 -70 % of those were
- 17:00a regular title. WBA regular. Yeah. Doesn't fucking
- 17:05count. Regardless, that does not change Triple
- 17:11G's... The success of those fights, WBA regular
- 17:17be damned, he still had a lot of success in his
- 17:20career. Very deserving of this induction. Yeah.
- 17:29Moses Itauma Filip Hergovich will be fighting
- 17:33at the O2 Arena in London August 29th. Another
- 17:39step up for Itauma here. I'm liking that he's
- 17:45getting the step ups now. He needs them. He's
- 17:49just been making everyone look stupid. He sure
- 17:54has. How many steps before we call it, like,
- 18:00he's world class. Like, he should be, like, title
- 18:04contention world class, I mean. Maybe one more
- 18:07step up after Hergovich. Hergovich has been not
- 18:12great lately. True. Where is he in the rankings?
- 18:18Maybe one more. I guess Hergovich is ranked number
- 18:23two by the WBO and number four by the IBF. Six
- 18:31by the WBA and four by the WBC. So maybe this
- 18:36fight. This might be it. Yeah, this might be
- 18:39it. Usyk, bless his heart. fucking all -timer,
- 18:46hall -of -famer. But his time in the sport is
- 18:51extremely limited, and I sincerely doubt he's
- 18:55going to fight someone like Atalma with the little
- 18:58time he has left. Yeah, I don't think so. But
- 19:02if Atalma beats Hergovich, especially if he beats
- 19:05him really convincingly, I'd say he's in title
- 19:09contention. He'll just have to wait for Usyk
- 19:12to... Age out. Which isn't going to be a long
- 19:17wait. Do the interim picture. To get himself.
- 19:24Positioned for. Like to be. The if not elevated.
- 19:29He'll be. The number one contender. To fight
- 19:34the number two. Or whatever. Atalma is already
- 19:37number one for Dubois. According to boxing scene.
- 19:44But Dubois has the Wardley rematch. Yeah, but
- 19:50so this is one versus two in the WBO. Atalma
- 19:55versus Herkovich. So this puts them on the right
- 20:04timeline, kind of. Yeah, true. Good point. Jaleel
- 20:14Hackett will be facing Sergei Derevyanchenko
- 20:17on Zufa 9, July 26th. This is the one in New
- 20:25York. I really like Sergei, but he's maybe getting
- 20:34too old for his style. I know he's not age -wise
- 20:37that old, but... Jaleel Hackett's not great,
- 20:41so... Sergei could pull this off. Khalil Hackett's
- 20:48nickname is the Black Mexican. What? Boxrack.
- 20:56El Negro Mexicano is his alias on Boxrack. I
- 21:02guess he must be a brawler. Sorry. I just pulled
- 21:07him up to see his face and that caught me off
- 21:09guard. Yeah, it should be a fun fight. I mean,
- 21:16Ervinchenko's always in fun fights. If he could
- 21:21damn near beat Imbili with one arm. One -handed.
- 21:28Yeah. I just, I cannot doubt the man. I think
- 21:34he's self -aware enough to mature his game with
- 21:41his age. and fight in a style that's a little
- 21:45bit more conservative, but wins points. You know
- 21:52what I mean? That's true. Yeah, Sergey's pretty
- 21:55smart. Yeah, he gave Triple G a hell of a fight.
- 22:01So, why not? Errol Spence vs. Tim Zhu. The undercard
- 22:13has been announced. They're doing a full US versus
- 22:18Australia. It's pretty fun. They actually played
- 22:23into it with World Cup. US beat Australia 2 -0.
- 22:28Nice. And so they're like, round one goes to
- 22:33the US. Round two on July whatever. That's kind
- 22:39of fun. I like that. So we got Errol Spence versus
- 22:43Tim Zhu. Jamal Charlo versus Cohen Mazudier.
- 22:47That is my sleeper fight of the night. I don't
- 22:51know who Mazudier is, I don't think. He's a fun
- 22:55fighter. He's not undefeated or anything like
- 22:59that, but he's super fun. Okay. So it should
- 23:02make for a good time with an older Jamal. Stephen
- 23:08Fulton versus Liam Wilson. Ivan Actis versus
- 23:13Callum Peters. Ahmad Reda versus Paul Fleming.
- 23:17And Paulo Alcuso versus Luis Tejeda. Nice. That
- 23:25was all US versus Australia. I kind of like the
- 23:32gimmicky cards like this. It's fun. Japan versus
- 23:37the world. It'll be in the U .S., right? This
- 23:41is in Australia. Oh, in Australia. The crowd's
- 23:45going to be a bunch of dickheads, and it's going
- 23:48to be great. Oh, yeah. A bunch of sick cunts,
- 23:52as the Aussies would say. I am fully expecting
- 23:56more Donald Trump chants. Oh, boy. Yeah, they
- 24:01did that at the World Cup game. They were, like,
- 24:04a lot of... I don't know how they made it rhyme,
- 24:10but something something, Trump is a pedo. Do
- 24:17you guys want to get sent home? The Scottish
- 24:18one, I think, is my favorite. What's the Scottish
- 24:21one? The Tartan Army's on a bender. Donald Trump
- 24:25is a sex offender. That is fantastic. Do you
- 24:29guys want to get sent home? Because you're going
- 24:31to get sent home. I mean, I agree with you, but
- 24:37maybe it's, it's a similar situation to where
- 24:44situations I found myself in, in the UK where
- 24:48someone was being like obnoxious and everybody
- 24:52else around, like all the Brits are like, just
- 24:55kind of like side -eyeing like, Oh God, look
- 24:58at this asshole. Like, well, okay. I'll be the
- 25:02rude. Fucking American. And I'll say something
- 25:05like, hey, can you calm the fuck down for two
- 25:09seconds, please? The funniest is them interviewing
- 25:14like mega people on the street and they're like,
- 25:17oh, they're only doing this because they can't
- 25:19do stuff like this at home. They don't have freedom
- 25:21of speech. I was like, do you really think the
- 25:25US is the only place where people have freedom
- 25:28of speech? Like, that's crazy. Silly people,
- 25:34man. Kenshiro Taraji versus Israel Gonzalez for
- 25:41the vacant WBO super flyweight title. So that's
- 25:46fun. Which one's Israel? This is Kenshiro's third
- 25:51division? Yeah. Taraji hasn't been looking super
- 25:57great lately. I thought he was going to retire.
- 26:01Kind of hoped he was going to retire, to be honest.
- 26:03But. Should be fun. Yeah. I mean, Japan versus
- 26:11Mexico is always fun. Two very similar clubber.
- 26:17Yeah. Styles. People are speculating. Devin Haney
- 26:25versus Shakur Stevenson is all but set. The hint
- 26:30was Shakur Stevenson posted a photo of him weighing
- 26:35himself, and he was like 144 and change. Oh yeah,
- 26:42I saw that post. Yeah. So that's what people
- 26:46are taking as proof that this is what's next.
- 26:51That might be a bit of a stretch, but I also
- 26:54won't be surprised if that's true. It's a bigger
- 26:57money fight than Keyshawn Davis. That's for sure.
- 27:01Yeah. I've said it before. This one doesn't super
- 27:05appeal to me. This is going to be a purists fight.
- 27:09Yeah, you're right. It'll be... If I'm... If
- 27:16I'm having beers for this fight, I'm not going
- 27:19to have fun. I'll have more fun just like bullshitting
- 27:22in chat. Yeah. watching the fight but if i'm
- 27:28sitting if i'm locked into it then i'll i'll
- 27:31have a good time but not not my style of matchup
- 27:37but for the people who like that it should be
- 27:40a really good fight oh speaking of fights turkey
- 27:46al -sheikh is apparently having health trouble
- 27:50and he's losing his cognitive functions Yeah,
- 27:55dude has a pretty big brain tumor or something,
- 27:59right? Good lord. I didn't know the details.
- 28:04I'm like 85 % sure it's a brain tumor. That's
- 28:10manageable, isn't it? It depends where it is
- 28:15and what it is. If it's too deep in there or
- 28:19something, I don't know. I'm not a doctor. One
- 28:23of my uncles had a brain tumor and they did so
- 28:29many surgeries and it kept coming back that eventually
- 28:31they can't cut any more of your brain out. He
- 28:35did say he wants to try to negotiate a peace
- 28:43between all the major promoters as one of his
- 28:49last acts before he... I don't know if he chooses
- 28:53to resign or if he becomes terminal. Yeah, what
- 29:00happens to all the Saudi money in boxing? Does
- 29:03it all just go away when the man playing with
- 29:08his action figures can't play anymore? Yeah,
- 29:12that's a good question. That's what I was wondering.
- 29:15A little cynical of me to... To be the first
- 29:19thing that I think about is what happens to the
- 29:21Saudi investment in the sport. Maybe there's
- 29:29someone's going to take over the program. I would
- 29:36say that so far, like cost, I would say that
- 29:41investing in boxing as a form of sports washing
- 29:45has been cost effective. Because they get elite
- 29:50world -class athletes for 10 mil, 15, 20 mil.
- 29:58Versus when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo to
- 30:03the Saudi Super League for football, it was like
- 30:10120 mil or some shit for like two years. Yeah,
- 30:14that's crazy. Yeah. Whereas Dimitri Bivol comes
- 30:18at a price of $10. That's true. And you don't
- 30:24have to set up a whole league like their soccer
- 30:28league. I mean, you're paying one guy $100 million.
- 30:31How much is all of the guys? And the golf one
- 30:37must have been pretty pricey as well. They spent
- 30:39a fuckload of money on the golfers. I remember
- 30:44that. But that's it for the news. Well, as much
- 30:56as I dislike the Saudi government, I don't know.
- 31:03Turkey, I hope it doesn't suck too badly, I guess.
- 31:09Don't want to wish ill on him, but at the same
- 31:11time, you're like a representative of a bloody
- 31:16regime. We started on Bummer News and ended on
- 31:24Bummer News. I don't like that. Let me see if
- 31:29I can find something really quick. We should
- 31:34have saved the maternity pictures for last. Here's
- 31:44an interesting question. Would Itauma beating
- 31:48Hergovich Is that better than Agit Kabayel's
- 31:54resume? Is that better than anyone on his? And
- 31:58I think Kabayel's best one is Frank Sanchez.
- 32:02I think so. Like, Hergavit is, like, he's definitely
- 32:13top 10. Probably closer to top 5. So is Frank
- 32:20Sanchez, though. That's true. And he just got,
- 32:25like, the recent win over Richard Torres, it
- 32:29helps age that win for Caballon a lot better
- 32:34than anything. Sanchez looked really good in
- 32:37that fight. He did. As short as it was, he looked
- 32:39fantastic. I mean, he looked really good because
- 32:43it was short, probably. Yeah, you're probably
- 32:46right. I mean... Frank Sanchez, well, he's Cuban
- 32:5233. How much of a gas tank does he have still?
- 32:57I would say the nature of the win makes it that
- 33:04we don't really... It's another intangible where
- 33:10the coaching was critical to that victory. Because
- 33:17Eddie Reynoso spotted that way that Torres was
- 33:22ducking, like ducking down. He caught it within
- 33:25the first round. And he told Frank how to set
- 33:31it up to get that knockout. I don't know. But
- 33:36the more we talk about it, the more I think this
- 33:38win really does put a Tauma up there deserving
- 33:41of a title shot. I think you're right. I would
- 33:48put Atauma below Kabael, but that's a testament
- 33:57to how high Kabael is and how high Atauma has
- 34:01come. That he wouldn't overtake Kabael, but he's
- 34:06still up at that level. Yeah, I would agree with
- 34:10that. Well, that's not so much of a bummer. Hitama,
- 34:16you are world class, my man. You're going to
- 34:20prove it to fucking everybody in August. Let

- 38:01But, recaps. Really quickly, let me just get
- 38:06this out of the way. Eye of the Tiger on DAZN.
- 38:12Layla Boudouin gets the UD over Paulina Angel.
- 38:21Interim WBA Super Featherweight title was on
- 38:24the line. And the main event. Wilkins Matthew
- 38:34stops Esquiva Falcao in eight. Not surprising.
- 38:44There were not that many stoppages on this one.
- 38:48A lot of decisions. Close decisions, too. Maybe
- 38:52they're listening. Well, yeah, I know that I
- 38:56have the Tiger Brass for our subscribers, so
- 39:00it's all good. Saturday, June 13th. It's a little
- 39:08bit of a busy day. MF Pro on DAZN. Fucking out
- 39:14of Manchester. Tommy Fury gets the majority decision
- 39:17over Eddie Hall. It was a six -round fight, two
- 39:21-minute rounds. It was as silly as it sounds.
- 39:30Overall. I have to admit, I didn't watch this
- 39:32one, but I saw some clips that were sped up like
- 39:35times two or whatever. It looked like Tommy Fury
- 39:38was just avoiding Eddie Hall, which is smart,
- 39:43but like boring as fuck. Yeah, it does not make
- 39:46for a fun fight. Yeah. So. Kind of what everyone
- 39:52expected that knew anything, I assume. Right.
- 39:57The idea. That a guy who floats between light
- 40:05heavyweight and cruiserweight is going to fight
- 40:08like a 350 -pound fucking muscle monster, close
- 40:12range. If you genuinely thought that, I got a
- 40:17bridge to sell you. Yeah. It's fucking ridiculous.
- 40:25And the fight fully reflected that. ridiculousness
- 40:29of the MF Pro in general. Yeah. MVP W4 at the
- 40:39Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. It was fun.
- 40:45A fun fact. The only stoppages on this card were
- 40:50in the men's fights. All the women's fights went
- 40:55to decision. let me see just some selects Estefani
- 41:07Alegria takes the throne from Evelyn Bermudez
- 41:13claims the IBF WBA WBO light flyweight titles
- 41:18Natalie Delgado takes the WBA super flyweight
- 41:24title from Jasmine Artiga Tiara Brown retains
- 41:30the WBC featherweight title over Hannah Rapp
- 41:34and O'Shea Jones split draw with Elia Carranza.
- 41:40The IBF super welterweight title was on the line
- 41:43there. I knew that main event was going to be
- 41:48close. I mean, I never called draws, but I knew
- 41:52it was going to be a close fight. Yeah, split
- 41:56draw. You were not far off. The meat of the dish.
- 42:07Matchroom on the zone at the Desert Diamond Arena
- 42:10in Phoenix. Oh boy, I was present. So we're going
- 42:17to go from the bottom up. Ronnie Alvarez gets
- 42:21the stoppage in seven over Filip Stankovic. This
- 42:24was a competitive fight. For the first like three
- 42:28or four rounds. Ronnie Alvarez invested to the
- 42:32body and it paid off in the later rounds. Hector
- 42:38Beltran gets the stoppage in two over Shaquille
- 42:41Felicia. I think Felicia is the first fighter
- 42:47I've ever heard of from Alaska. Really? Yeah.
- 42:54That is kind of cool. I thought that was really
- 42:57cool. I saw his trunks, and they had the star
- 43:02pattern from the Alaska flag. And then they called
- 43:06out fighting out of, I think, Juneau. And I was
- 43:13like, yeah, holy shit. I have never seen the
- 43:16Alaska flag. That's actually a pretty cool flag.
- 43:18I like it. Yeah, it's nice. Hector Beltran beat
- 43:23his ass. Well, you know. It do be like that sometimes.
- 43:29Sometimes. Shechal Esquivel gets the stoppage
- 43:34in six over Rayshawn Taylor. I remember as this
- 43:39fight was playing out, it was pretty scrappy.
- 43:42And Rayshawn was cagey, but he was tough. And
- 43:47Shechal. At round three and four, I was like,
- 43:53okay, you got this in the bag. Let's go ahead
- 43:57and wrap it up here. And then the fifth goes
- 44:01all the way through. I'm like, okay. I remember
- 44:04writing down as I was taking my notes. I got
- 44:10some questions about stopping power. And then
- 44:13sixth round starts and he gets the stoppage.
- 44:16Of course. Yeah, because you were in press row
- 44:20for this, right? Yes. Nice. Got to take your
- 44:26notes and look professional. The two fucking
- 44:29goobers that were sitting on either side of me
- 44:32were just talking to each other the whole time.
- 44:35I fucking hate that. I would have switched seats
- 44:38with one of them. I was doing my fucking job,
- 44:42taking notes, observing the fights, watching.
- 44:46like trying to be as detailed as i can and they're
- 44:51just like talking to each other like i'm not
- 44:53there i would have switched seats like what why
- 44:57are you guys fucking here why are you here if
- 45:01you're uh you're not watching you're not paying
- 45:03attention yeah yeah um well well i remember very
- 45:08clearly what outlets they were with but Unprofessional.
- 45:14Yes, I'll save that for another time. Trainee
- 45:20Ochoa stops Christian Perez in two. This one
- 45:24got going before I really had any observations.
- 45:29It got done before I could really see anything.
- 45:33I mean, stoppage in two, there's usually not
- 45:36much to see. Right. It was a cagey first round,
- 45:39too, I remember, because I was like, man. How
- 45:43like did if this is as as the second started
- 45:48and it looked like he was gonna get the stoppage
- 45:50man, I Didn't I didn't see anything in the first
- 45:54round like it's like you were downloading and
- 45:57you've download complete But I didn't you got
- 46:02it done really fast like there's nothing nothing
- 46:05really for me to say That was the end of the
- 46:12prelims, I believe. Elias Montoya stops Adrian
- 46:19Rodriguez in the second. Don't really remember
- 46:22this one, to be honest. I mean, those fast fights
- 46:27are hard to remember sometimes. Especially when
- 46:31people are talking around you. Yeah. I made sure
- 46:35to take notes for the prelims. Just because once
- 46:39I figured out that they weren't televised, it's
- 46:42like, man, I'm going to be... We gotta... I'm
- 46:47the only way that people... We gotta let our
- 46:48listeners know. Yeah. This is the only way you're
- 46:51gonna know is me telling you what I saw. I should
- 46:56have published it by the time you're hearing
- 46:58this, but I should have put up my prelim report
- 47:00on the website. Let's see. This one was a surprise.
- 47:09I wasn't expecting this one. Alif Nur Turhan,
- 47:12the IBF lightweight champion, gets the UD 96
- 47:18-94 across the board over Gabriela Tellez. Alif
- 47:26was very unusual, very unorthodox. I haven't
- 47:32seen her before. Swinging out of the most random
- 47:35places. It was surprising. I mean, she's defended
- 47:40a couple times. It seems to be working. Yeah.
- 47:45We've got Lady Nav out here. You know what? You
- 47:49might be onto something with that. They should
- 47:55actually start pairing those two on cards together.
- 48:02I really like when unorthodox styles work out.
- 48:07Like, you do everything wrong, but somehow you
- 48:10keep winning, so who am I to say you're doing
- 48:12it wrong? Yeah. All it really does is fly in
- 48:17the face of fucking nerds like me. I'm like,
- 48:20uh, here I thought. Yeah. I thought there were
- 48:24rules to this game. God damn it. I thought you
- 48:26couldn't throw leaping lead uppercuts, but I
- 48:29guess fuck it. Why not? Fuck it, we ball. Arturo
- 48:38Cardenas gets the UD over Jordan Martinez. Jordan
- 48:44is the hometown kid. And this one was a case
- 48:51of Arturo. The intangibles came into play here
- 48:58where Arturo had better coaching. and he showed
- 49:05different wrinkles to the game, whereas Jordan
- 49:10Martinez was just kind of doing the same thing,
- 49:12and it wasn't working. So Cardenas was able to
- 49:17adapt and overcome. And last bit, Jesse Bam Rodriguez
- 49:27knocks out Antonio Vargas in six. man that was
- 49:35almost it was almost a blink and you miss it
- 49:37kind of situation for me I fucking love body
- 49:41shot knockouts they're my favorite and it's been
- 49:43a while since we had like a really big one on
- 49:46a big famous card and I know the undercard on
- 49:50this wasn't super stacked but I fucking love
- 49:53body shot knockouts and I love when everyone
- 49:56sees them I remember as the fight was starting,
- 50:05I thought Antonio opened up really well. Even
- 50:13though you might think it's only three pounds.
- 50:17Can't be that big of a difference, right? But
- 50:20I feel like the difference was evident here.
- 50:23And Antonio used his weight, used his size to
- 50:28the best of his advantage. And he was able to
- 50:32find success in the opening two or three. Three.
- 50:38When did he get the knockdown? I don't remember.
- 50:44Sorry. That's all right. Box rec doesn't have
- 50:48it. Of course not. I just I remember the opening
- 50:52rounds that Vargas was having success. I even
- 50:56asked in chat and I was like, hey, is. Is it
- 51:01just me, or is Bam getting mogged right now?
- 51:04I used that specific brain rot word. And one
- 51:09of the responses was, yeah, he kind of is. But
- 51:13that was only in the beginning. As the fight
- 51:18went on, Bam turned that shit around real quick.
- 51:24AI says the knockdown was in the fifth. Fifth
- 51:29and sixth. Okay. Yeah, fifth round he dropped
- 51:32them, sixth round he stopped them. Makes sense.
- 51:37Yeah. I am not double -checking the AI, so if
- 51:43it's wrong, let us know. No, I thought Vargas
- 51:48looked like he could hang for a little while,
- 51:52and then Bam just pieced him up. Like, we all
- 51:56kind of thought he would. Started doing Bam stuff.
- 51:59Yeah. That liver shot, like, as soon as he went
- 52:03down, I was like, no fucking way he's getting
- 52:05up. There is no chance in hell he is standing
- 52:08up the way he dropped. When he was on his knee,
- 52:12I was like, okay, he might be able to do it.
- 52:15But then he flopped over. I'm like, yep, never
- 52:19mind. Never mind. Yeah, done. Done. I was kidding.
- 52:22He tried. Like, you gotta give it to Vartan.
- 52:26He tried to stay up. He did not give up. Yeah,
- 52:28he really did. A bunch of people are always like,
- 52:31oh, it's just a body shot. How does that keep
- 52:34you down? Like the fucking idiots on the internet.
- 52:37And I'm like, dude, I would throw up my liver
- 52:41and just die. Like legitimately just die. One
- 52:46time I got my shit fucking wrecked from a solar
- 52:50plexus punch. It's like hitting a button on your
- 52:57body. That sends all of the air out of your lungs.
- 53:01Yeah. And all you're doing is you collapse trying
- 53:06to suck in air. Yeah. I've never boxed or anything,
- 53:13but I got kicked by a calf right in that spot
- 53:17once. And they literally had to drag me out of
- 53:20the area with the cows so I could lay on the
- 53:24ground. Catch my wind. It fucking sucks. I'm
- 53:29not familiar with a liver punch, but I cannot
- 53:32imagine that it's any better. I expect it would
- 53:36be worse. The science behind why liver punches
- 53:41suck so hard is really interesting, actually.
- 53:44So your liver is like a great big sponge that's
- 53:47full of blood. And then when it gets punched,
- 53:51the blood gets pushed out. that part doesn't
- 53:54hurt so the reason there's usually a little delay
- 53:57is that you're you've squeezed the sponge and
- 54:01then when the pressure's taken off all the blood
- 54:04comes back in but with too much force and that's
- 54:09what hurts so that's why there's usually that
- 54:11second or two yeah yeah because like you can
- 54:15feel your organ like over expanding because it's
- 54:20a negative pressure and the blood all runs in
- 54:23And then your organs aren't supposed to move
- 54:26like that. So the liver punches scientifically
- 54:32fascinate me. I know that sounds really weird.
- 54:38No, no. It's very fitting that you would know
- 54:42that. I went into a huge internet hole on the
- 54:47science of why liver punches hurt so bad a couple
- 54:50times. But yeah, your organs aren't meant to
- 54:54move around that much, just in general. I know
- 54:58that they do, they mildly shift around. Yeah,
- 55:05but slowly. Yeah, it's like a writhing kind of
- 55:09situation, not getting it fucking rocked by a
- 55:14brute force. Yeah, and it's more the blood rushing
- 55:19inside the liver. that causes like blood vessels
- 55:22to expand and stuff and the really small ones
- 55:25tear a little oh boy which your liver heals really
- 55:29fast but in the moment that cannot feel yeah
- 55:33yeah but speaking of like ribbing around fun
- 55:38fact if you get like intestinal surgery they
- 55:41just stuff them back in yeah and it repositions
- 55:44itself perfectly it's yeah but like i always
- 55:47assumed that they had to like Because if you
- 55:50see the diagram, your lower colon is a straight
- 55:53line coming from the top down. I always thought
- 55:56they at least repositioned that. And I was talking
- 55:59to one of my friends who's a surgeon, and she
- 56:02was like, no, we don't reposition anything. We
- 56:04just stuff it in there and sew you up. And I
- 56:08was like, what? And she's like, yeah, that's
- 56:10why they don't let you leave the hospital until
- 56:13you've passed gas or... or feces because they
- 56:19want to make sure that it realigned in a straight
- 56:21line like that the way it's supposed to yeah
- 56:24it's crazy all right uh that's it though that's
- 56:31all we got for the matchroom card in phoenix

- 59:46challenges from habitat loss and climate change,
- 59:49and they need our help to keep working. That's

- 1:01:08June 24th. Only fight that matters on this card.
- 1:01:12No limit. I am struggling to find a way to watch
- 1:01:18this outside of Australia. It's on KO Sports.
- 1:01:26Lewis Crocker defends his IBF welterweight title
- 1:01:31against Liam Parrow. I saw a poster for this
- 1:01:35that I wanted to be the real poster so badly,
- 1:01:38and it wasn't. And it had Liam Parrow dressed
- 1:01:41up as Crocodile Dundee. And it was the Croc Hunter.
- 1:01:46And I was like... That's too good. Fuck yes.
- 1:01:50Way too good. But then VOM had to burst my bubble
- 1:01:54and be like, I don't think this is the official
- 1:01:56poster. It's a fan -made one. And I'm like, hire
- 1:01:59this fan. The Croc Hunter? Come on. Australian
- 1:02:07dude? The Croc Hunter? Come on. Come on. Also
- 1:02:13might be a bit of when was Crocodile Dundee like
- 1:02:1590s? Might be a bit of nostalgia. Yeah. It is.
- 1:02:20I think you could have also done a little Steve
- 1:02:24Irwin with it. Yeah. Yeah. I should say Irwin
- 1:02:32family, because they're all doing it now. But,
- 1:02:37yeah, that would be less nostalgic and maybe
- 1:02:40more in the, like, current. Is it still too soon
- 1:02:45for... No, it's not too soon, but it's too violent
- 1:02:50for Steve Irwin. True. He was a little bit more
- 1:02:53of a... He liked, um... He liked crocodiles.
- 1:02:58He wasn't gonna hurt them. He liked jujitsu.
- 1:03:01He was a fan of jujitsu. Yeah, I don't mean that
- 1:03:06way, but he was nice to crocodiles. Yeah, he
- 1:03:11wasn't trying to jujitsu them. Yeah. That's not
- 1:03:17a knife. This is a knife. Much more slaying crocodiles.
- 1:03:27Anyways, the fight itself I think is a good matchup.
- 1:03:29I'm actually kind of excited for this one. And
- 1:03:33I don't know if we can put it in the podcast,
- 1:03:35but I'm pretty sure KO you can watch with a VPN
- 1:03:38and just like a random Aussie area code. A lot
- 1:03:45of the times those... I've seen that there are
- 1:03:48pay -per -views. Ah, okay. Yeah, if it's pay
- 1:03:52-per -view, that won't work. I'll give it a shot.
- 1:03:57Yeah, of course, not encouraging anybody to...
- 1:04:01But if there's no legal way to watch it, I don't
- 1:04:06feel bad. I don't either. To be fair. If you
- 1:04:12could pay for it in your area, you should. But
- 1:04:15if you can't... Support good fights. Always.
- 1:04:23Moving to Saturday, June 27th. Rockin' Fights
- 1:04:2854 brought to you by Starboxing at the Paramount
- 1:04:36in Huntington, New York. I picked this one out
- 1:04:40because number one and most importantly, Mickey
- 1:04:48Scala is a local guy for me. Ah, fair enough.
- 1:04:54So I keep up with his career. He has a very cute
- 1:05:00box rec photo. Very... He's Italian. He has that
- 1:05:06very Italian greaser kind of look. I can tell.
- 1:05:10Yeah. So I keep up with Mickey Scala. He's signed
- 1:05:15to Starboxing. They put their stuff... I think
- 1:05:21right now they put it on Millions .co. Okay.
- 1:05:27We've been there. We are on there, yes. And Wendy
- 1:05:34Toussaint, he's something of a competitor or
- 1:05:38contender, lower level contender at 154. He's
- 1:05:44fighting Miguel Angel Hernandez. Just a... Sorry,
- 1:05:52Leo, just a second. If you go to BoxRef, they
- 1:05:54have a different person. That fight might have
- 1:05:57changed. Oh, shit. They have Aaron Coley. Aaron
- 1:06:02Coley. Even better. I've never heard of Aaron
- 1:06:11Coley. I've never heard of fucking Miguel Hernandez,
- 1:06:13so... No, I just... When I clicked on Wendy Toussaint,
- 1:06:18the opponent has changed. All right. Well...
- 1:06:27Yep, Mickey Scala is still fighting Isaiah Flaherty.
- 1:06:33Yes. Flaherty is a very Irish name, but that
- 1:06:41dude does not look Irish. The only time... The
- 1:06:45closest name I've ever seen to that, I saw Fluhardy.
- 1:06:51Never heard that one. Yeah. Anyway. Moving to,
- 1:06:58I'm going to skip ahead. Sunday, June 28th, we've
- 1:07:02got Zufa Boxing 8. What do we got? On the undercard,
- 1:07:09we've got Jabrio Pei Benito, who got a just marvelous
- 1:07:14knockout his last time out. He's fighting Tony
- 1:07:18Hirsch in a lightweight fight. Interesting. Yeah,
- 1:07:26JP Benito. Definitely someone to keep an eye
- 1:07:29on. In the main portion, we have Omar Trinidad
- 1:07:35versus Jerwin Ancajas. This one might be fun.
- 1:07:40Yeah, this should be a good one. 10 rounds at
- 1:07:43featherweight. Kane Sandoval versus Brandon Lee.
- 1:07:48We stand Brandon Lee here. We do stand Brandon
- 1:07:52Lee. 10 rounds at welterweight. And Rayo Valenzuela
- 1:07:56versus Edwin De Los Santos. Rematch. 10 rounds
- 1:08:00at lightweight. This one should also be a banger.
- 1:08:04I don't like Zufa, but this is a good card. Yeah,
- 1:08:10they got JP. That in itself to me sells the undercard.
- 1:08:18They got something good, at least. Yeah. No,
- 1:08:23these are fights worth watching. For sure. But
- 1:08:28the main card to talk about today, Saturday,
- 1:08:33June 27th, Matchroom and Top Rank will collab.
- 1:08:39Brought to you by DAZN at the Barclays Center
- 1:08:42in Brooklyn. From the bottom up, we have Juanma
- 1:08:48Lopez, Juanmita Lopez. Six rounds at Superfly.
- 1:08:54Dennis Thompson versus Edwin Rodriguez. Eight
- 1:08:58rounds at Superbantam. Quincy Williams versus
- 1:09:01Jerome Baxter. Eight rounds at Welter. Ben Whitaker
- 1:09:06versus Popeye. Richard Popeye Rivera. Ten rounds
- 1:09:12at Light Heavy. I do not like Ben Whitaker. You're
- 1:09:19not going to be happy with his choice of opponent.
- 1:09:21He is credible on paper. Upsets happen. I can
- 1:09:28cheer for upsets. Cheering for Popeye? Yes. Jahai
- 1:09:35Tucker vs. Yuri Sedeno. 10 rounds at middleweight.
- 1:09:40Emiliano Vargas vs. Bryce Mills. 10 rounds at
- 1:09:44super light. And Xander Zayas, the WBA, WBO super
- 1:09:50welterweight champion, versus Jerron Ennis. I'm
- 1:09:56probably not going to be happy about the main
- 1:09:58event either, am I? Because I would like Zayas
- 1:10:04to win. Then, yeah, you're probably not going
- 1:10:07to be happy with it. Yeah. I just, I don't know.
- 1:10:15I don't particularly like either of them. Like,
- 1:10:19they're not high on my list. But I think Xander
- 1:10:21Zayas winning would be funnier. Yeah, that's
- 1:10:26what I said on B -Sides. Exactly that. It would
- 1:10:29be funny if he won. Yeah, because Zayas gets
- 1:10:34a lot of hate, but he's been doing well. So,
- 1:10:38let the haters hate. But Zayas is so greasy.
- 1:10:49I really don't know who to cheer for in this
- 1:10:51one. Boots is a better boxer, and I like cheering
- 1:10:54for underdogs, so... Leaves your options pretty
- 1:11:00limited. But Zaius is so greasy. I don't see
- 1:11:08what he has done at any point in his career.
- 1:11:16that would make that would lead me to think he's
- 1:11:20got a real shot against boots no i have to agree
- 1:11:25but yeah i don't know i'm just gonna watch this
- 1:11:31one i guess i was like on b sides we were trying
- 1:11:36to we really tried to spin A positive case. How
- 1:11:44can we make this a positive. Situation for Zaius.
- 1:11:49And we really couldn't. But. Barring a one hitter
- 1:11:53quitter. Then I don't know. He hasn't lost yet.
- 1:11:58So. Now I mean. Chances are Boots is going to
- 1:12:05win this. And I don't have any reason. To dislike
- 1:12:09Boots. I just. I don't know. This is one of those
- 1:12:15ones where, honestly, like, it's a good fight,
- 1:12:17it's a good matchup, but I don't really care
- 1:12:20either way, if you know what I mean. I just hope
- 1:12:23the fans win. Yeah, which sounds lame as hell.
- 1:12:29But wanting and just, I hope it's entertaining.
- 1:12:32That's not a bad ask. Zaius getting a knockout
- 1:12:38would be peak entertainment. It would be fucking
- 1:12:40hilarious. Yeah. I would be beside myself with
- 1:12:45laughter. Chat would go off. It would be great.
- 1:12:49Yeah, it would be a good time. That's all we
- 1:12:59got, though. Not a bad weekend. No. Not a great
- 1:13:04weekend, but not bad. Shit, man. I will be watching
- 1:13:08on millions after the fact. Catch my guy, Mickey
- 1:13:12Scala. Yeah. I keep up with local guys for me.
- 1:13:23I try my best to suggest local guys for the rest
- 1:13:31of the Lux family to keep up with. They're local
- 1:13:34people. If you have a local person that I should
- 1:13:39keep up with, somebody I should keep an eye on,
- 1:13:41you got my phone number. It's 833 -LUX -POTS.
- 1:13:47Let us know. I have no local people in Canada.
- 1:13:51Oh, yeah, not in Saskatoon. No. Saskatchewan
- 1:13:57is not a big boxing hub. But if you got somebody...
- 1:14:03that I should be watching, then let me know.
- 1:14:05I'm fucking here for it. Yeah, we'll push your
- 1:14:08favorite local. At the very least, they'll get
- 1:14:14as much time as Mickey Scala did. Which was not
- 1:14:18all that much, but he'll get more on the recap
- 1:14:21just because I have something to go off of. You
- 1:14:25know what I mean? Yeah. Alright. That is it.
- 1:14:35We're heading into Zaius Boots Weekend. Parting
- 1:14:41words. I want to just tell a short story from
- 1:14:47my trip because I thought it was hilarious. I
- 1:14:50went to Sendai and I walked into the Pokemon
- 1:14:53Center and a lady stops me and she's like, when
- 1:14:56is your birthday? And I was like, it's the end
- 1:15:00of the month. And she's like, we have free stuff
- 1:15:02for you. And I was like, what? And she's like,
- 1:15:05yeah, if you can show me ID, we have a birthday
- 1:15:09thing going on in June. And I was like, excellent.
- 1:15:12So I got a cute happy birthday card thing from
- 1:15:17Pokemon and a free Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and
- 1:15:22Steel. Just because it was my birthday. Is that
- 1:15:27the newest games? It's not the newest. It's a
- 1:15:29couple back. They also had giveaways in the newest
- 1:15:32ones, but they had giveaways in, I think, like
- 1:15:36four games. Nice. Oh, you just pick which one
- 1:15:41you want? Well, they have QR codes for each game,
- 1:15:45but I only own one of them. I haven't bought
- 1:15:49any Pokemon games since I got to Japan. I'm sure
- 1:15:54they have English in them, but the games themselves
- 1:15:56didn't really appeal to me. I thought it was
- 1:16:00super cool. I call it a card, but it's like a
- 1:16:03little placard thing that will stand up on a
- 1:16:07table. I'm going to take it to my birthday party
- 1:16:09on Friday. Excellent. I'm putting it up on my
- 1:16:13table that I have reserved at my local bar. Wonderful.
- 1:16:19Super excited. That's actually really cool. That
- 1:16:22you've got a table reserved. Yeah. But I also
- 1:16:27have a dad joke for you, Leo. What's faster than
- 1:16:31a calculator? What's... I don't know. A calc
- 1:16:39-ya now? Yeah. Of course it is. I thought you
- 1:16:50would like that one. Yeah, it's great. Well,
- 1:17:00with that, that is it for this edition of Boxing
- 1:17:12Before Dark. We'll see you on the other side
- 1:17:15of Boots Zayas. Bye. How do you want to convince
- 1:17:34them to watch MMA instead? Or not instead, but
- 1:17:38just to start watching MMA. I'm going to go like
- 1:17:42a different route than Nathan went. I'm going
- 1:17:44to go with, first of all, I think. MMA has more
- 1:17:48frequent watchable events. You know, there's
- 1:17:52some weeks in boxing where it's, like, it's either
- 1:17:55super degenerate or, like, no names, whatever.
- 1:17:58I think in UFC, there's, like, it's slightly
- 1:17:59better at times. And then the big, big point,
- 1:18:03it's just more hectic. I think MMA at times is
- 1:18:07just more hectic. You're seeing stuff from street
- 1:18:10fights all the way to, like, movie -type fights.
- 1:18:12You know, you got roundhouse kicks. uh straight
- 1:18:15up like bar fights at times uh you just you get
- 1:18:19a wider range of enjoyable fights i i would say
- 1:18:23um and then just like i don't know it's just
- 1:18:28it's more enjoyable the fact the fact that at
- 1:18:30times you get to see just guys like standing
- 1:18:32and banging it's it's just more primal in a way
- 1:18:35uh is what i'd say that that's how i would try
- 1:18:38to convince like boxing only fans that it's just
- 1:18:41more if you enjoy chaos We saw it in the Wild
- 1:18:45Riches or fight. If you enjoy that type chaos,
- 1:18:47you know, because that wasn't exactly like a
- 1:18:49bunch of technique in that fight. But if you
- 1:18:51enjoyed something like that, I would definitely
- 1:18:53try out MMA just because at times there is high
- 1:18:59level things. And that is incredible to watch,
- 1:19:02you know, people like Mauricio Hufi. You're seeing
- 1:19:04like incredible knockouts with kicks. But even
- 1:19:09like the lower level stuff can be enjoyable.
- 1:19:11with people just going to town on each other,
- 1:19:13you know, standing and banging. That'd probably
- 1:19:16be the driving point that I would say to boxing
- 1:19:19only fans is that if you enjoy that chaos, I
- 1:19:23would say definitely give MMA a try. If you like
- 1:19:26chaos, I like that. If you do decide to give
- 1:19:30MMA a shot, well, you can check out Ultimate
- 1:19:32FN Casuals. You can hear us chat about all the
- 1:19:35fights that happen every weekend, just like on
- 1:19:37the boxing side.
