- 1:23Speaker 1: employee of IBM. I used to work for IBM and Microsoft.
- 1:26Speaker 1: He has spent the last eight years in the mobile
- 1:29Speaker 1: apps space. He built, published, and sold a portfolio or
- 1:33Speaker 1: one hundred plus mobile apps which have collectively been downloaded
- 1:36Speaker 1: over twelve million times worldwide. He is an expert in
- 1:40Speaker 1: mobile app publishing, marketing, and monetized monetization, author of These
- 1:44Speaker 1: Seven Steps to App Success, and host of the brand
- 1:47Speaker 1: new podcast Game of Growth, which has debated in the
- 1:51Speaker 1: top one hundred business podcast on iTunes. She is the
- 1:55Speaker 1: creator and host of Side Hustle Pro podcast, the first

- 2:03Speaker 1: have scaled from size hustle to profitable business. She also
- 2:07Speaker 1: the founder podcast Moguls, a podcast and accelerator program that
- 2:11Speaker 1: shines a light on untold narratives. Please welcome to money
- 2:15Speaker 1: making Conversations that Kayla Matthews and Moyo Oka may man, boy,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'll work you. I'll work up with them names man,
- 2:26Speaker 1: Thank you for having us. Yeah yeah it's Nikkela Matthews
- 2:30Speaker 1: or Coleman now because I'm married, Okay, well you're okay, cool, awesome,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and hi both of you. What shi are you calling
- 2:36Speaker 1: me in from from Washington d C? Okay, cool? As
- 2:41Speaker 1: I go there and Washington d C. Every wednesdays or
- 2:43Speaker 1: one maybe one day we can have lunch or dinner
- 2:45Speaker 1: and uh and further discussions. But today welcome you to
- 2:49Speaker 1: money making Conversations because you guys are what they consider
- 2:52Speaker 1: experts in your fields. Um, I want to start with you, sir.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's uh, it's morial right, yeah, yeah, you got it. Okay,
- 3:01Speaker 1: want to make sure we'll be respectful to My name's
- 3:04Speaker 1: was Seawan. And so I know if somebody says wrong,
- 3:07Speaker 1: he love you. But this is how you're supposed to
- 3:11Speaker 1: say it. And uh, and so if I slide wrong,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you know in this conversation filter, Richard just slipped a
- 3:17Speaker 1: little bit. We get it all straight now the app
- 3:19Speaker 1: business and the podcast business, which is exploding both of them.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I think the app business exploded before the podcast business.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So moyo, you've involved in both of them. Please explain
- 3:30Speaker 1: your background and how did you become an expert in
- 3:33Speaker 1: this because I have. You know, I started on radio,
- 3:36Speaker 1: but now I've slid into the podcast arena and my
- 3:39Speaker 1: shows on Serious Exam, my shows on a radio in
- 3:42Speaker 1: Atlanta now is a growing podcast arena. Talk about your
- 3:47Speaker 1: your path, your growth, your path, your growth path. Sure, absolutely, absolutely,
- 3:52Speaker 1: And I probably used the word expert, but I'd like
- 3:55Speaker 1: to be aware of that because you know, I think
- 3:57Speaker 1: we both consider ourselves still students of of anything we're
- 4:00Speaker 1: doing all the time. Excuse me, Morio, it says right
- 4:03Speaker 1: here he is an expert in mobile app publicing, marketing
- 4:07Speaker 1: and monetarization. No, definitely my fault. But you never want
- 4:13Speaker 1: to get to, you know, over confident in it. So
- 4:17Speaker 1: if you want to get paid, you got to be
- 4:18Speaker 1: an expert. And guess what, You're right, You're right, you're right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It might have made conversation, Morio, want to make conversation. Now,
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm giving you money making conversations. Let's do it. You're
- 4:29Speaker 1: an expert over one plus apps. Mobile apps have been
- 4:33Speaker 1: downloaded over twelve million times. You're an expert. Okay, you
- 4:38Speaker 1: got it, you got it all right. So as far
- 4:41Speaker 1: as how I got there, Um, at the time I
- 4:44Speaker 1: was working for this was after I go into business
- 4:47Speaker 1: school and I was working for IBM in a business role,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and UM, I really wasn't having the best time there.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So it's it's IBM in the Washington d the area,
- 5:01Speaker 1: and um, it's very kind of political nature in the offices,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and UM, I found that I wasn't the one being
- 5:09Speaker 1: looked at for the promotions, and UM, you know, I
- 5:13Speaker 1: think you kind of get what I'm saying about it.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I started, I'm sorry, I missed what you heard. I
- 5:19Speaker 1: work for IBM, so I understand the culture. I understand
- 5:22Speaker 1: the creative lanes that they put you in. It's about
- 5:24Speaker 1: the creativities. You know, you have a vision and sometimes
- 5:27Speaker 1: it doesn't work in that environment because they want you
- 5:29Speaker 1: to stick with a particular job. Yeah yeah, yeah, So, UM,
- 5:36Speaker 1: things kind of you know, there are a lot of
- 5:38Speaker 1: different things going on, but things kind of came to
- 5:40Speaker 1: a head where I actually I was demoted from the
- 5:43Speaker 1: position I was in. So I was very frustrated with
- 5:46Speaker 1: that and started looking around for anything else that I
- 5:48Speaker 1: could do, whether it was finding a new job with
- 5:51Speaker 1: another company, I went to a lot of different career affairs,
- 5:53Speaker 1: took some interviews, or um, if it's gonna be something entrepreneurial,
- 5:56Speaker 1: So I started studying just a different a lot of
- 5:59Speaker 1: different things around online marketing, and that's how I kind
- 6:02Speaker 1: of ran into this app space, almost by accident, just
- 6:05Speaker 1: while I was learning online marketing and so um you know,
- 6:10Speaker 1: this led me eventually to take some courses, invest in
- 6:14Speaker 1: some courses, and just start trying things on the side.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And initially I wanted it to just be something to
- 6:21Speaker 1: where I could feel like I was using my brain
- 6:24Speaker 1: again and just learning some new things and just be
- 6:25Speaker 1: excited about something. And I didn't know that it was
- 6:28Speaker 1: going to evolve into something that would replace my income
- 6:32Speaker 1: and even make more income, right, So that just kind
- 6:35Speaker 1: of it just kind of happened through um, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 1: starting out learning, doing some practice, getting better, and then
- 6:43Speaker 1: it starts to scale beyond where I knew it would scale.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And that's kind of how I became an expert. That
- 6:47Speaker 1: makes sense, absolutely absolutely. I love the fact that that's
- 6:51Speaker 1: what I based to show on is that you're willingness
- 6:53Speaker 1: to change and then you use education to create that change,
- 6:57Speaker 1: which means you're willing to put work into a transition.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And a lot of people don't don't are not willing
- 7:03Speaker 1: to do that. They just wanted to happen. They want to. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 1: we we both believe in that heavily. Well you have to.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Now this new a podcast game up Grow. Is that
- 7:12Speaker 1: a takeoff game of throngs? Yeah? Yeah, so, um, it
- 7:19Speaker 1: does have some of that element in there. But um,
- 7:21Speaker 1: what made me come up with that name was just
- 7:24Speaker 1: thinking about the fact that any time that you want
- 7:28Speaker 1: to become an expert make money in something, you know
- 7:31Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen the next day, right, you need
- 7:34Speaker 1: to actually put that time in and develop yourself and
- 7:38Speaker 1: go through that struggle and then you know eventually you'll
- 7:41Speaker 1: deserve to get those rewards that you want. So that's
- 7:43Speaker 1: really the main concept. Like, Um, the line that I
- 7:46Speaker 1: always say on the show is that it doesn't matter
- 7:48Speaker 1: where you start where you are right now, are you
- 7:51Speaker 1: willing to take the challenge and grow? Right? Good? I
- 7:54Speaker 1: want to I want to bring into your partner. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 1: let's do that part we got we got another break,
- 8:00Speaker 1: so we will be both talking a lot. I want
- 8:02Speaker 1: to make sure I'm saying your name correctly. Can you
- 8:04Speaker 1: announce it nunciated for me? Sure it's Nicela Matthews A
- 8:08Speaker 1: coman Okay, I did said correctly, Nicela, Okay, nicaela um.
- 8:13Speaker 1: From a female perspective, you know that you're in the
- 8:15Speaker 1: business is male dominated, and then then getting your voice out,
- 8:19Speaker 1: I've had some very talented Uh. I think that female
- 8:23Speaker 1: entrepreneurs is the great It is the it is the
- 8:25Speaker 1: fastest growing side of entrepreneurship is the female side. What
- 8:30Speaker 1: made you want to really emphasize the significant role of
- 8:34Speaker 1: African American females. Well, you know, I had initially started
- 8:39Speaker 1: on the pass of entrepreneurship out of necessity. I graduated
- 8:44Speaker 1: from with my m b A and moved back to
- 8:47Speaker 1: d C. But it was harder for me to find
- 8:49Speaker 1: a role that really encompassed everything that I was interested
- 8:52Speaker 1: in in my marketing background. You know, d C is
- 8:54Speaker 1: very public policy, government heavy, And while I was exploring
- 8:59Speaker 1: and figuring out what my next move would be, I
- 9:01Speaker 1: started to blog, and that blog. With that blog, I
- 9:05Speaker 1: started to gravitate to interviewing black women entrepreneurs, and I
- 9:09Speaker 1: realized I gravitated towards their stories because here I was
- 9:12Speaker 1: in this position where I wasn't getting a job, I
- 9:15Speaker 1: wasn't getting one quickly, and I was starting to think
- 9:17Speaker 1: about maybe just doing my own thing. But I was
- 9:20Speaker 1: intimidated because I didn't see a lot of us represented
- 9:23Speaker 1: on the covers and and talking about us as entrepreneurs.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So I said, Okay, maybe I need to go out
- 9:29Speaker 1: and find these stories myself. And then eventually I transitioned
- 9:33Speaker 1: it to a podcast. Now with that being said, you
- 9:36Speaker 1: have these podcasts. Everybody has a podcast, even ra Sean
- 9:39Speaker 1: McDonald has a podcast called Money. How do you promote
- 9:44Speaker 1: your podcast? You fought a niche audience and it may
- 9:47Speaker 1: not be a big niche because it's African American entrepreneurs.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So you you you you you got a varce that
- 9:53Speaker 1: may not be global from the standpoint of the content
- 9:57Speaker 1: did you create? Did you did what you were heard
- 10:00Speaker 1: about that or use a word about just doing great
- 10:02Speaker 1: delivering great content for African American female entrepreneurs. Well, I
- 10:08Speaker 1: actually wasn't worried about that all because um sign out
- 10:10Speaker 1: the pro is global. I have listeners in Jamaica and
- 10:14Speaker 1: you know, all different countries in Africa, Asia, you name it.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And so it's really incredible. What happens with the podcast
- 10:21Speaker 1: is you can be in the ear of someone all
- 10:24Speaker 1: over the world and not even know it. And um,
- 10:27Speaker 1: when I started the podcast, I was unapologetic about focusing
- 10:32Speaker 1: on the stories about black women entrepreneurs because I knew
- 10:35Speaker 1: they were out there. I knew they were out there.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And you know, you can't tell me when you're talking
- 10:39Speaker 1: about the top entrepreneurs out there that African American women
- 10:42Speaker 1: should not be not even African American women, black women,
- 10:45Speaker 1: black women represented across the diaspora, shouldn't be reflected in
- 10:49Speaker 1: these stories. Well, you know, I like when you said
- 10:53Speaker 1: that unapologetic because I had to fight all my life.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I've been kind of like apologetic, which means that I
- 11:02Speaker 1: really didn't know who I was talking to, what I
- 11:04Speaker 1: was doing stand up, when I was writing scripts, even
- 11:06Speaker 1: when I was developing this show. I had to be
- 11:09Speaker 1: honest that you really you have to identify who you
- 11:12Speaker 1: who you're talking to it in order to deliver the message.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And so I want people to understand that that is
- 11:17Speaker 1: absolutely the truth. When you look at Fox News, you
- 11:20Speaker 1: understand exactly who they're talking to. That's the fact. That's
- 11:25Speaker 1: what you call un apologetic. Now I look at seeing it,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I don't know who's seeing it is talking to. I
- 11:31Speaker 1: really don't. I really don't. That's why Fox wins and
- 11:33Speaker 1: the ratings because they go out there, they know exactly
- 11:36Speaker 1: the message they're gonna put out there. And then over
- 11:38Speaker 1: here you have Political correct CNN and so Rashan McDonald's
- 11:43Speaker 1: kind of like that same location. Look look defining what
- 11:46Speaker 1: money making conversation was? Was it a entertainment show? Was
- 11:50Speaker 1: an entrepreneur show? It's a show about information. And I
- 11:53Speaker 1: get guess, like you're on the show, both you the
- 11:56Speaker 1: Kayla and both you Morio and y'all tell me about
- 11:59Speaker 1: your experience so I can share that information with my
- 12:01Speaker 1: listeners and viewers and they can have a takeaway. And
- 12:04Speaker 1: to take away in this situation is that define your
- 12:06Speaker 1: audience and you will get your voice. That's what you said,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and then with what you're saying, Morios, Hey, if you're
- 12:14Speaker 1: frustrated to your job, don't stay frustrated. We educate yourself
- 12:19Speaker 1: going the lane and explore new opportunities. And that's how
- 12:22Speaker 1: you blew up in the app business, which carried you
- 12:24Speaker 1: over into the podcast business. Correct, Yeah, that's that's right.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And my my wife also carried me into the podcast
- 12:32Speaker 1: business as well. She's Jamaica. You know, she's just making
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know, going to Jamaica one thousand jobs. That's part
- 12:39Speaker 1: of the legacy that she's born in Jamaica, right, your wife,
- 12:44Speaker 1: So one thousand jobs as part of the legacy. But
- 12:51Speaker 1: you know, I really, I really and uh, we're about
- 12:54Speaker 1: to run out of this first break, but I want
- 12:55Speaker 1: to come back, and I want to talk about working
- 12:57Speaker 1: together because, like you said, she carried you in the podcast,
- 13:00Speaker 1: so I know there's a yin and the yang and
- 13:03Speaker 1: trying to build your brands. And also I really want
- 13:05Speaker 1: to talk about how do you build a successful podcast?
- 13:08Speaker 1: How do you because that's what that's part of your
- 13:10Speaker 1: revenue that you you go out and you guys, uh
- 13:13Speaker 1: work with podcasters like I'm assuming, like me who want
- 13:17Speaker 1: to want to grow their brand, and we come back,
- 13:19Speaker 1: let's talk about that. How do you take a person
- 13:21Speaker 1: like rashand McDonald and and and convince him that your
- 13:24Speaker 1: brand that that I should take my product to and
- 13:28Speaker 1: build it. We're back with more. Uh, they're superstars. Their
- 13:32Speaker 1: power couple, n Kayla, Matthew Ocome and more your okom. Hi,
- 13:41Speaker 1: you're back with money making conversations. We're talking to uh,
- 13:45Speaker 1: the Kayla, Matthews Okome and the more your ocomin uh
- 13:49Speaker 1: experts in their fields of app development and podcasting and UM.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Early in our conversation in the first break, we're just
- 13:56Speaker 1: talking about how they would they define themselves and the
- 14:00Speaker 1: more You'll say, basically the Kayla dragged him or pulled
- 14:03Speaker 1: him into the arena podcast when you were drag you know,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but uh, we'll tell us about because you was over apps.
- 14:10Speaker 1: You was over the making app magics and doing your
- 14:13Speaker 1: thing and exploding and and building the brand you have
- 14:15Speaker 1: developed that. So how did you get into podcast? First
- 14:18Speaker 1: of all, I got you both have dynamic personality, so
- 14:21Speaker 1: it wasn't a hard push to tell you that you
- 14:24Speaker 1: should be doing a podcast more yo, But how did
- 14:27Speaker 1: it develop for you? Right? Right? Right? So it's an
- 14:30Speaker 1: interesting story because I had a podcast um in called
- 14:37Speaker 1: Daily Spark, and I was talking to different entrepreneurs um
- 14:41Speaker 1: just all over the spectrum, and I kind of took
- 14:44Speaker 1: the wrong approach with it, where I think during the
- 14:47Speaker 1: first month I was releasing an episode every single day
- 14:50Speaker 1: and just really got burnt out over it. And I
- 14:52Speaker 1: wasn't I didn't know really who exactly. I wanted to
- 14:56Speaker 1: talk to a lot of people like the show, but um,
- 14:58Speaker 1: it was just a little bit all over the place, right, So, UM,
- 15:01Speaker 1: I naturally just ran out of steam and stopped liking
- 15:05Speaker 1: doing it. UM. So what's happened this time is that
- 15:09Speaker 1: I've been with my wife over the last almost three
- 15:12Speaker 1: years now, almost three years now, just building her thing,
- 15:16Speaker 1: just being very consistent each week putting out an episode,
- 15:18Speaker 1: knowing exactly who she's talking to. UM. So I actually
- 15:22Speaker 1: she has the course that she teaches. I was asking her,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you know, I was thinking about, Hey, you know, I
- 15:27Speaker 1: see what this thing has done for you and your
- 15:29Speaker 1: your brand and um just being allowing people to see
- 15:34Speaker 1: your products and all of these things. I think I
- 15:37Speaker 1: want to do that again. Can you help me out?
- 15:39Speaker 1: So she actually made me go through her course that
- 15:42Speaker 1: she teaches. UM, just go through all the modules, just
- 15:45Speaker 1: like anybody else. And after doing that, that that kind
- 15:48Speaker 1: of kind of set the stage for this show a
- 15:50Speaker 1: lot better. And I found out the gates. You know,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I know exactly who I'm talking to. UM, it's gotten
- 15:58Speaker 1: a lot more attraction, a lot quicker. Oh. I think
- 16:01Speaker 1: we're about seven weeks in right now. It just crossed
- 16:04Speaker 1: fifteen thousand downloads, which, uh, I'm pretty happy about. And
- 16:08Speaker 1: what we've both been in the top one podcasts, so
- 16:11Speaker 1: you know, it's been it's been exciting. Well and did
- 16:16Speaker 1: you make an announcement when you launched your podcast or
- 16:18Speaker 1: we just just click? So absolutely absolutely marketed it anywhere
- 16:25Speaker 1: and everywhere that I could that I have access to.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So that includes listeners of the previous podcast. You know,
- 16:31Speaker 1: I tapped them on the shoulder let them know, Hey,
- 16:33Speaker 1: I have something new. Sorry I wasn't here, but I'm
- 16:35Speaker 1: back again. What would you like to listen? I have
- 16:38Speaker 1: an email list, it's not a huge email list. Let everybody.
- 16:40Speaker 1: There are no LinkedIn Facebook, Instagram. We're both pretty big
- 16:44Speaker 1: on Instagram. UM, so you know, UM, I think we
- 16:49Speaker 1: both believe in Yes, you do have to create valuable
- 16:52Speaker 1: content that people want to hear that's gonna help them
- 16:54Speaker 1: with their issues. But then you also have to shout
- 16:57Speaker 1: about it and remind them about it. Um, you know,
- 17:00Speaker 1: develop advocates for it and just find ways to get
- 17:02Speaker 1: the word out. Well, that's really important to hear that
- 17:05Speaker 1: nkalo um you you got him over here. You even
- 17:10Speaker 1: your husband you went, nah, you got to go through
- 17:12Speaker 1: the steps. Oh yes, because I think you know, people
- 17:16Speaker 1: think they can just pick up and start a podcast
- 17:19Speaker 1: because everyone's doing it, and and that if you launch it,
- 17:22Speaker 1: the downloads will come. But you have to be really
- 17:24Speaker 1: strategic about it. So what he's talking about in terms
- 17:27Speaker 1: of knowing who you're talking to, I um make my
- 17:31Speaker 1: students go through this module about refining their topic so
- 17:35Speaker 1: that they understand who their target listener is. You literally
- 17:38Speaker 1: should know what that person does for a living, who
- 17:41Speaker 1: else they're listening to and why. And the reason this
- 17:45Speaker 1: is important is twofold one. It helps you to craft
- 17:48Speaker 1: your content. So you also should be thinking about your
- 17:50Speaker 1: content in a long term way. You know, you should
- 17:53Speaker 1: be thinking about what your twelfth and fifteenth episode should be,
- 17:57Speaker 1: not just launching it excitedly and then running out esteem.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And it's also important to know who you're talking to
- 18:03Speaker 1: because that helps you to find them online. So we
- 18:05Speaker 1: talk about Instagram and social media marketing. We're able to
- 18:08Speaker 1: have effective posts and to have engagement because we know
- 18:12Speaker 1: where people are hanging out. We know what keywords to
- 18:15Speaker 1: use to get them to to raise awareness of our
- 18:19Speaker 1: posts and to get us to show up in those conversations. Now,
- 18:22Speaker 1: this is a this is an online course that you
- 18:24Speaker 1: can take. Yes, it's called podcast Moguls and you're able
- 18:28Speaker 1: to take it through. Well, first, I offer a free
- 18:31Speaker 1: master class actually, so I don't just want people to
- 18:33Speaker 1: rush into podcast Moguls. I want them to understand things
- 18:37Speaker 1: that they can do right now to get started. So
- 18:39Speaker 1: for that, I have people head over to site Hustle
- 18:42Speaker 1: pro dot c o slash live class for that master class,
- 18:45Speaker 1: so that is completely free. You can walk through and
- 18:48Speaker 1: understand how to launch and market your podcast. And when
- 18:51Speaker 1: you're ready, because you really have to be ready to
- 18:54Speaker 1: focus and concentrate and commit to the podcasting process, then
- 18:58Speaker 1: I offer them an opportunity to join the podcast Moguls Accelerator. Okay,
- 19:03Speaker 1: what are the fees involved? The feet the master classes free?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Excuse me A hundred percent free so that you can
- 19:12Speaker 1: take at any time for free. And then four see
- 19:15Speaker 1: podcast Moguls um Accelerated program. That fee is actually about
- 19:21Speaker 1: to go up, so I can't state the fee at
- 19:23Speaker 1: this very moment, but it does start um, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: right around right under a thousand Okay, cool, alright, So
- 19:30Speaker 1: if I wanted one of my couple of my employees
- 19:32Speaker 1: to take it, which which I do. Okay, that's why
- 19:36Speaker 1: I brought you on the show. Because there's a there's
- 19:38Speaker 1: a reality you have to invest in yourself. And this
- 19:41Speaker 1: is exactly yeah, and again I'm talking to two experts.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Now I know more, Yo, you don't want to take
- 19:46Speaker 1: that that hat, but I'm not gonna. I'm not because
- 19:51Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give a thousand dollars to somebody who
- 19:53Speaker 1: who's not an expert what I'm saying. So, and it's
- 19:58Speaker 1: important because the fact that I'm a talent, I have
- 20:02Speaker 1: great content. I am getting fantastic guests like you too
- 20:06Speaker 1: on a show, and they have additional other great guests.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I usually have four four fantastics guests to usually entertainment
- 20:13Speaker 1: driven and to an entrepreneur driven. And in this lane,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you will be the entrepreneur driven guests that I have
- 20:19Speaker 1: that shows on serious and And like I said, I'm
- 20:22Speaker 1: trying to feed a lot of people, but I need
- 20:23Speaker 1: to focus on something and I told everybody, let's focus
- 20:27Speaker 1: on the podcast world. And so so with that being said,
- 20:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna have both of them take the free courts. Now,
- 20:35Speaker 1: just walking through those steps, how does that work time wise?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Because I want people in the ARA to here because
- 20:41Speaker 1: they're going to take your master class. I'm just gonna
- 20:45Speaker 1: you know that right as far as timeline, So again,
- 20:48Speaker 1: the master class is a one hour live class where
- 20:53Speaker 1: I teach everyone live the steps to that first one
- 20:56Speaker 1: thousand downloads, because that first one thousand is really critical.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Once you cross that threshold, not only are you showing
- 21:03Speaker 1: up more in Apple's algorithms so that your show is
- 21:06Speaker 1: being recommended to people who listen to other things, but
- 21:10Speaker 1: then you also now have a thousand ambassadors who have
- 21:12Speaker 1: listened to your show and are sharing it with their
- 21:15Speaker 1: friends and are if you launch it correctly and know
- 21:18Speaker 1: who you're talking to, they can then share your show
- 21:21Speaker 1: effectively and say, oh I love this show, it's about X.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And then when you're ready to join podcast Moguls, that
- 21:27Speaker 1: is an eight week accelerator so you are able to
- 21:30Speaker 1: jump into the on demand lessons right away. And then
- 21:33Speaker 1: what I also do is every Wednesday I coach live,
- 21:36Speaker 1: so people can come into class every Wednesday and we
- 21:40Speaker 1: just troubleshoot whatever you have going on. What challenges you have,
- 21:44Speaker 1: so that I'm guiding you throughout that eight weeks, so
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know that if you encounter any kind of issues
- 21:50Speaker 1: at all, I'm there to help. I like this. So
- 21:53Speaker 1: it's online, which means that that's important, which is where
- 21:57Speaker 1: all education is going now to finish your adversity. People
- 22:00Speaker 1: just looking of course that now everybody got it. Every
- 22:02Speaker 1: major college has a Harvard doing it, so so more yo,
- 22:08Speaker 1: watch the Taylor's out there side like she's working side
- 22:10Speaker 1: like she did. She's working, she's working. What do you do?
- 22:17Speaker 1: So when it comes to I'm actually pretty integrated within
- 22:20Speaker 1: the podcast Mugul's process for example. Um, so when she's
- 22:25Speaker 1: doing the master class we just talked about, then, I'm
- 22:28Speaker 1: usually um, since we don't have other staff right now,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm usually helping out in the pretty in the chat,
- 22:35Speaker 1: just answering people's questions and um, you know, just getting
- 22:39Speaker 1: people excited and getting people prepared. Also, since it's a
- 22:43Speaker 1: family business, family hustle also show up in the weekly
- 22:46Speaker 1: class as well to do more of the same. And
- 22:50Speaker 1: it's it's been pretty cool just seeing some of the results.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Sometimes you know, um, sometimes we'll just ask us, was hey,
- 22:57Speaker 1: are these products good? Are they delivering. And it's just
- 23:00Speaker 1: been cool seeing some of the students, Like there's been
- 23:03Speaker 1: people who had podcasts and then you know, first three
- 23:07Speaker 1: months of this year they joined the course and now
- 23:09Speaker 1: that rather than hundreds of downloads, they're getting thousands of
- 23:12Speaker 1: downloads and their people hitting the new and noteworthy charts.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You know, people who have doubled their downloads yea within
- 23:18Speaker 1: their eight weeks in the program. So it's it's like, um,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you know, it's my wife, so I'm biased, but I
- 23:24Speaker 1: do think she's one of the best out there. But then, um,
- 23:27Speaker 1: you know, in my own business that's independent from my
- 23:31Speaker 1: podcast Moguls inside House of pro Um. So one exciting
- 23:36Speaker 1: thing I have right now, I've kind of taken my
- 23:39Speaker 1: app business in a different direction. So I don't think
- 23:41Speaker 1: I actually mentioned this, but I in twenty fifteen, I
- 23:46Speaker 1: think it was I sold the portfolio I built up
- 23:48Speaker 1: until then, so sold all the apps is over a
- 23:50Speaker 1: hundred apps. Um, so that that was a pretty exciting moment.
- 23:55Speaker 1: But then it was like, okay, you know, um, what's next?
- 23:59Speaker 1: You know what am I doing next? So I tried
- 24:01Speaker 1: some different businesses and found my way back to apps.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Now that the way I'm thinking about it now, is
- 24:06Speaker 1: that I'm focusing on a very particular niche, and um,
- 24:11Speaker 1: that niche is black people, right. So I feel like
- 24:14Speaker 1: there are a lot of great, great apps out there
- 24:16Speaker 1: on the market, a lot of great content, but when
- 24:20Speaker 1: they built them that they didn't necessarily have us in mind,
- 24:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So I'm looking at things
- 24:26Speaker 1: that exists, and um, just looking at where where there's
- 24:30Speaker 1: a lack of content that needs to exist and where
- 24:33Speaker 1: I can plug in. So the very first one that
- 24:36Speaker 1: we're rolling out, the the first version of it actually
- 24:39Speaker 1: just came out last week. It's called color Now are
- 24:42Speaker 1: Um and it's it's a coloring book apps. So through
- 24:46Speaker 1: my research, I actually found that these coloring books are
- 24:50Speaker 1: very popular. People use them to relax, the kind of
- 24:53Speaker 1: therapeutic and um, you know, funny enough, a lot of
- 24:57Speaker 1: adults use them to play with. So I decided, Uh,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it would be a good thing to have images of
- 25:04Speaker 1: black people in culture within this this kind of product.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So gotta wrapped us up. I gotta bring you back
- 25:12Speaker 1: on the show, each one of you individuals. You've got
- 25:14Speaker 1: too much going on for me to para is together.
- 25:17Speaker 1: So I want to reach schedule m as individuals, plus
- 25:19Speaker 1: I won't start on their program. Thank you for listening
