- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. Gotta get
- 0:28your podcast right, Leo. Yes, I do. That was
- 0:32the little hand. That was my thinking moment.
- 0:36Like, wait, what am I doing right now? Who am
- 0:39I talking to? What is this? Where am I? Alzheimer's
- 0:43setting in already. Sad to see. Can't help myself.
- 0:47Brain deteriorating. Oh, shit. Boxing Before
- 0:52Dark, we are all up in your ears, and we're here
- 0:54to talk the fucking fights. Man, Shanada, how
- 0:57are you? I am good. I have been doing some trip
- 1:02and fight bookings. Got my ticket for the 1FC
- 1:08in November in Tokyo. I've never seen kickboxing
- 1:13live, so I'm actually pretty excited. Did Ryzen
- 1:18not have it? There was no kickboxing. It was
- 1:21all MMA stuff. Oh, shit. I thought Ryzen was...
- 1:24Oh, Ryze. Sorry. They have an organization called
- 1:29Ryze, and that's kickboxing. And then there's
- 1:33Ryzen. Yeah, no, but that's different. That's
- 1:34MMA. Yeah. My mistake. Yeah. So, and I might
- 1:40be missing in two weeks because I'm going up
- 1:43to Hokkaido to watch Draft Horse Racing. It's
- 1:47the main reason for this trip. So they got the
- 1:51big draft horses pulling heavy sleds, and there's
- 1:55two small hills built into the course. I'm really
- 2:00excited about it, actually. I think it's going
- 2:02to be super cool. Them being draft horses does
- 2:06make it cooler, just because they're bigger and
- 2:09beefier. Well, and it's built in such a way where
- 2:14no horse can pull the sled from start to finish.
- 2:18without a rest so there's actually a lot of like
- 2:22knowing your animal and strategy involved whoa
- 2:25yeah and like stopping the sled and restarting
- 2:30it is bad obviously because momentum but you
- 2:36you have to do it at least once but do you do
- 2:38it twice for a short time or once for a longer
- 2:40time and how far from each uh hill do you stop
- 2:45and anyway I'm super stoked. If anybody's interested
- 2:49in looking it up, it's called Vane, V -A -N -E
- 2:53-I, and it's up on YouTube. It's pretty fun.
- 2:59This actually does sound a little bit more entertaining
- 3:02than Floyd Mayweather versus Mike Tyson. Yeah.
- 3:09I am not excited for this at all. Not even a
- 3:12little bit. This is the dumbest shit fucking
- 3:15ever. Ever. Floyd's ducking Manny again. What's
- 3:20new? And Mike Tyson can barely walk. There's
- 3:27no fucking chance he catches Floyd Mayweather.
- 3:30Mayweather's still in really good shape. They're
- 3:35not going to hurt each other. It's not the point
- 3:40of the event. The point is to just pitter -patter,
- 3:43move around a bit. Nothing serious. I would imagine
- 3:50something serious. The only one of these Mike
- 3:54Tyson ones that was worth doing, in my opinion,
- 3:57was the Roy Jones Jr. one. Because they're both
- 4:01old and can hardly move. It was even. But Floyd's
- 4:08just going to dance around and make... Old decrepit
- 4:12Mike Tyson looks stupid and it's gonna make me
- 4:15sad. Why do they insist on making me sad? I don't
- 4:24know. If Mayweather's coming out of retirement,
- 4:28he should fight Manny. This is stupid. This has
- 4:32to be an exhibition. Right? I would think so.
- 4:40But who the fuck knows? Like, it should be. Should
- 4:45be. Yeah, they could just forum shop and find
- 4:48somebody that's willing to sanction it. That
- 4:52would be a bad look, though. Yeah, but lots of
- 4:56those sanctioning bodies do not care. True. Oh,
- 5:02speaking of sanctioning bodies that do not care.
- 5:05Jaime Munguia. Cleared of all charges. In the
- 5:12stupidest way possible. Right. So, like, somebody
- 5:19said false positive, but that's not what this
- 5:22is. No, it's not. No one's saying it's a false
- 5:24positive. They're saying that Munguia used something,
- 5:29but it's something that's allowed. But then he
- 5:34goes on to say Eddie... Had no idea. What he
- 5:39was using. And knows nothing about this. So his.
- 5:44Test. Was positive. For a non -ban substance.
- 5:49That his coach had no idea. He was taking. The
- 5:53substance is not. Is banned in the UK. It's not
- 5:58banned in the US. Or anywhere else for that matter.
- 6:01That's why. He was. He popped. a legitimate pop
- 6:07but he submitted himself to extra testing to
- 6:11prove like no this yes i was on i was taking
- 6:14that supplement uh but i thought it was allowed
- 6:19because it's allowed everywhere else but here
- 6:21apparently and yeah he did so nail testing follicle
- 6:27testing didn't he still break the rules then
- 6:31because wasn't that shanked it sanctioned by
- 6:33the uk yeah exactly So it's still wrong. Why
- 6:39is this not a no contest? Because... Yes. Yes.
- 6:50Like, it's so fucking stupid. If you're playing
- 6:56a sport in a league, you need to know the rules
- 6:59for that league. I know sanctioning bodies aren't
- 7:03exactly leagues, but it's pretty similar. If
- 7:07you know you're going to be sanctioned by the
- 7:09British Boxing Board of Commission, like, you
- 7:16have to stop taking the stuff. Now, maybe he
- 7:19did, but... If he'd have told them before, I'm
- 7:23on this thing that's allowed in the States that's
- 7:25not allowed in Britain. I'm stopping now, but
- 7:28I'll probably still test positive. That would
- 7:31be different. Yeah, it's tough. Because I can
- 7:40see why the UK would want to just let it go to
- 7:46make themselves look a little bit more lenient
- 7:49and not... Oh, fucky. I guess, but the whole
- 7:58thing's just stupid. In all honesty, boxing's
- 8:03such an international sport, we should have a
- 8:06set of agreed -on banned substances at this point.
- 8:14Right. Like when we talked about, what's his
- 8:18name? He popped for something in Texas and then
- 8:24he went to fight in the UK. Rodriguez? Was he...
- 8:29That's a situation... Francisco? I think you're
- 8:33right. That's something that could have easily
- 8:35been avoided if commissions were to talk to each
- 8:38other. Yeah. Even if the association... If all
- 8:45of the state commissions feed up... Into the
- 8:49Association of Commissions. So it becomes a little
- 8:52bit more of an operating thing instead of just
- 8:55like an administrative sort of umbrella. Would
- 8:59be nice. Because then the Association of American
- 9:04Commissions can talk to British Border Patrol
- 9:09or whatever. Yeah, I don't know. The whole thing
- 9:13is just... It's stupid. Yes. Quite. But. I mean,
- 9:24this is definitely a name recognition thing,
- 9:28in my opinion. If it was reversed and Sarath
- 9:32had done this, like, and beaten Munguia, it would
- 9:36be a no contest. And he'd be banned from competing
- 9:39in the UK for like a year. Yeah. Yeah. But. Silly.
- 9:51Speaking of silly, Inoue vs. Picasso. In December.
- 9:57Once again, Inoue's looking past his current
- 10:01opponent. I don't know why. I fucking hate this.
- 10:05You can sign whatever, but don't announce it
- 10:08ahead of time. That's what the post -fight conference
- 10:13is for. It's like, oh, what's next for you, Naoya?
- 10:17that's when you say like oh well we we've been
- 10:19cooking this deal in the back and now we're ready
- 10:22to announce we're fighting picasso in december
- 10:24yeah and like mj is not nobody right december
- 10:32is not that far away they they're seriously banking
- 10:36on making easy work of him yeah like what if
- 10:40mj cracks his eye or something like it could
- 10:45happen Yeah, it has happened before. In a way,
- 10:50it's not impervious to fucking orbital breaks.
- 10:54Yeah, like, I fucking hate this. I hate this
- 10:57so much. And they're doing it to everybody with
- 11:01a name now. Like, they did it to Bam before he
- 11:05fought Kafu. They've done it the last, like,
- 11:09two or three Inoue fights. I'm sure there's other
- 11:12ones I'm not thinking of right now. Just stop
- 11:16with this. Yeah. Stop showing your pants. Also,
- 11:21who wants to see Inoue versus Picasso? Fucking
- 11:26nobody. Nobody wants that fight. Picasso's bank
- 11:30account wants that fight. I guess. But, like,
- 11:36I mean, fans don't want that fight. Also, does
- 11:42that mean Inoue is going up? a weight class and
- 11:45coming back down to fight nakatani that's stupid
- 11:48uh is he going up to fight picasso or is he bringing
- 11:52picasso back down i don't know i don't think
- 11:55they've announced that but that's that's part
- 11:57of my question yeah i'm thinking they're bringing
- 12:00picasso down maybe a catchweight so imagine we're
- 12:09getting into mid Mid -late November. And then
- 12:16they announce interweaver Sam Goodman. In fucking...
- 12:20Like, early March. I will fucking riot. I will
- 12:29legitimately fucking storm the JBC or something.
- 12:35I know where their headquarters are, so... Why
- 12:40not? If you're going to clean out a division,
- 12:43might as well be thorough. No. Just no. Also,
- 12:54didn't Sam Goodman go up a weight class? Yes,
- 12:57he did as well. Yeah. I mean, for in a way money,
- 13:01I'm sure he's going down. He would go back to
- 13:0522 without question. In a way, Goodman, finally.
- 13:14The fans are finally getting the fight they've
- 13:17been waiting for. It would be kind of funny if
- 13:21Goodman was his first 126 fight. I think that
- 13:25would be pretty funny. That would be good. That
- 13:29would actually be a decent 126 debut. I don't
- 13:36think Inoue's dad is going to give Goodman the
- 13:39time of day ever again. I hope not. Man. Speaking
- 13:52of time of day, that doesn't work. That's not
- 13:56a good one, Leo. Don't do that. Parker versus
- 13:58Wardley in October. This is the first I'm hearing
- 14:02of this. Saw an announcement online. I think
- 14:09it's legit. Which, Parker's getting fucked again.
- 14:14Like, this poor man just can't get his shot.
- 14:22I can't remember where I saw it, though. Yeah,
- 14:30I haven't seen anything else about this. It's
- 14:32on ESPN. So, I mean, it must be relatively legit.
- 14:40Yeah. They are in talks for October 25th in London.
- 14:46Tyson Mayweather's in the exhibition. Okay. That's
- 14:51good. Yeah, that's exactly what it should be.
- 14:54If it's going to be anything. Yeah, so I guess
- 15:00the idea is Usyk asked for an extension. on his,
- 15:04whatever you call it, talks with Parker, and
- 15:12Parker wants to stay busy, so he's talking to
- 15:15Fabio Wardley about an October fight, and then
- 15:19Usyk would theoretically be after that. Assuming
- 15:23he wins. Yeah, I was going to say, if Parker
- 15:26gets sparked by Wardley, like... Another oceanic...
- 15:34fighter gets sparked by wordly after boxing him
- 15:38soundly for like 10 rounds i mean it could happen
- 15:44parker's got a pretty good chin i don't think
- 15:46it will happen but it could but i guess that
- 15:52one could be kind of an exciting fight but i
- 15:54just parker deserves his shot at usik i don't
- 15:57know why he's getting screwed over so badly Oh,
- 16:03also happening in October, Danny Garcia is back.
- 16:08Really? Yeah. Why? Farewell to Brooklyn is the
- 16:13name of the event. This is... So, like, he's
- 16:19coming out of... I guess he never said he was
- 16:22retired, but he's coming out of retirement for
- 16:24a farewell fight? For the beginning of winding
- 16:28down his career. I thought his career was done.
- 16:34I thought so too. So he's going to say farewell
- 16:37to Brooklyn. Then just example cities. Farewell
- 16:42to Miami. Farewell to Las Vegas. Farewell to
- 16:46Los Angeles. And then finally, his last fight,
- 16:52poetically, will be in Philadelphia. I see. Where
- 16:57he's going to say farewell to boxing. Well, I
- 17:05mean, I liked Danny Garcia, but... Yeah, he was
- 17:08fun. I thought he was done a long time ago. I
- 17:13will watch, though. I will be tuning in. Well,
- 17:17I mean, for all intents and purposes, he was
- 17:20done a while ago. He hasn't done anything noteworthy.
- 17:27I don't think he's had a fight since 2022, has
- 17:30he? 2024, he fought Erislam Dilara. Oh, did he?
- 17:35Yeah. I missed that one. And it looked like he
- 17:38was going to have a meltdown in the middle of
- 17:40the fight, and that's why his dad called it off.
- 17:44They stopped it in the corner, and it looked
- 17:47like Danny Garcia was going to have an emotional
- 17:50breakdown. That's not good. No, not good at all.
- 17:59Get some help, dude. I mean, I guess one last
- 18:05farewell fight will pay for the help. I suppose.
- 18:09If that's what he's doing. Is Danny Garcia the
- 18:13one with the clothing line? Yes. It is god -awful
- 18:17in such a horrific way that I love it, though.
- 18:21It is fucking perfect for someone who looks like
- 18:24Danny Garcia. Yeah, people like him. If that's
- 18:29the look you're going for, it's spot on. But
- 18:33I would not wear it. Holy shit. Remember the
- 18:41Algerian boxer woman, Imane Khalif? She and others
- 18:50are... She was a... The Transvestigators came
- 18:56out. Like witch hunting. Oh, yes. Okay. I know
- 19:01who it is now. And there are other female boxers
- 19:07that are going to be missing the world championships.
- 19:12That doesn't surprise me. New gender testing.
- 19:17Compulsory gender testing. Well, do you remember...
- 19:25It was a while ago, but they did this for, I
- 19:29think it was the World Games. Not the Olympics,
- 19:34but the other ones. And a whole bunch of people
- 19:37were finding out that they weren't what they
- 19:39thought they were. They were something in between.
- 19:42And that's why they did chromosome testing. Yeah,
- 19:46that's what they're asking for here. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:48yeah. And a whole bunch of athletes found out
- 19:52that they weren't. XX or XY. They were something
- 19:55else. They're chimerical. Or, like, XXY or XYY
- 20:01or whatever. Like, there's a bunch of them. And
- 20:05they stopped testing because it was kind of,
- 20:07like, fucking people's heads up at 24 to realize
- 20:11that they weren't, you know, what they thought
- 20:15they were. Quote -unquote pure male or pure female.
- 20:18Yeah, whatever, right? And they're... Everybody's
- 20:23always like, well, why don't women ever... I'm
- 20:28not good at the wording. Why don't the people
- 20:31that were born women ever compete in male sports?
- 20:33And there's a handful that have won world medals
- 20:36that are not XY. But anyways, they're like XXY
- 20:43and stuff. But they only found out because the
- 20:47Olympics made... Not the Olympics. The world's
- 20:49made them do the chromosome testing. Which is
- 20:53part of my whole argument with this shit. It's
- 20:56so stupid, because you don't know what you are
- 20:58unless you've tested. In many cases. Like, and
- 21:04that's not standard testing anywhere. Unless
- 21:06you have some symptoms or something, nobody ever
- 21:11tests that. Why does it matter? What do you do
- 21:15with the information if you're a chimera anyway?
- 21:21Well, it's not even chimera. Like, that's not
- 21:23the only thing, right? There's lots of chimeras
- 21:27when there was two fetuses that melded together.
- 21:32Oh, I thought that was when you're like an XXY.
- 21:35No. No, that's just a chromosomal anomaly. The
- 21:41most famous one is Down syndrome. Yeah. But,
- 21:46like... There's a surprising number of people
- 21:52who start getting, like, abdomen pain when they're
- 21:57an adult and they find out they have, like, hidden
- 21:59testes that never descended and no penis or something.
- 22:03Right. Like, it happens a lot more often than
- 22:07people think. If you go look at the actual numbers,
- 22:10it's, like, 1 in 500 live -born... Male presenting
- 22:16babies is not XY. Wow. Where do you make the
- 22:25distinction of what qualifies as a female and
- 22:29what doesn't? Yeah, I think this is probably
- 22:32not great for the boxing podcast. Yeah, this
- 22:34is not the conversation for this. Not the place
- 22:37for this conversation. Khalif that you're talking
- 22:41about, the reason they vilified her was her testosterone
- 22:44levels. So it's not even that she's chromosomally
- 22:47not female. Like, she's XX, she just makes more
- 22:54testosterone than the average XX person. She
- 22:58is a literal, actual warrior. Of course she's
- 23:03going to have higher testosterone than the average
- 23:05female. Lots of athletes have different levels
- 23:13of hormones and stuff than the average person.
- 23:16That's what makes them a fucking world -class
- 23:18athlete. Yeah. Like, long -distance runners have
- 23:23crazy VO2 maxes that normal people will never
- 23:27have, no matter how much training they do. How
- 23:30is that any different than, you know, a lady
- 23:33that has extra testosterone? Naturally, without
- 23:36adding to it. The whole arguments are stupid.
- 23:44The doctor has spoken. Anyways. Yeah. Just really
- 23:53shitty that the French team is not able to compete
- 23:57because they missed the deadline for chromosomal
- 24:01testing. For the testing? Yeah. Really shitty.
- 24:06Yeah. wonder what these chromosomal testing what
- 24:14they're gonna do with the people that aren't
- 24:17XX or XY are they just disqualified did they
- 24:21have to compete in a male category like because
- 24:25there's gonna be more people than people think
- 24:27if they do chromosomal testing it's going to
- 24:31be a percentage like it's not going to be 0 .001
- 24:36or something it's going to be like two percent
- 24:39of athletes what if a male like male presenting
- 24:44fights has been fighting with males his whole
- 24:49life uh gets chromosomal testing and is whatever
- 24:54gets the cut off because it's too female And
- 24:59now you're putting a male into female sports?
- 25:02There are XXY guys out there. Yeah. This is really
- 25:09dumb. So what's the cutoff? Having one Y automatically
- 25:13makes you a guy? What if you have two Ys? Then
- 25:16you do produce more testosterone. Is that fair
- 25:23to have you compete against men with only one
- 25:25Y? The whole thing's stupid. Yes. I don't know
- 25:34who this new fucking testing organization is,
- 25:37but they need to get fucked. Well, like I said,
- 25:40they've done this before. This isn't brand new.
- 25:44It just wasn't as public before. Maybe it wasn't
- 25:52the world, but definitely international stuff.
- 25:56The heavyweight champion of UFC is looking at
- 26:02is leaving the door open to the possibility of
- 26:08crossing over to boxing. I think he could have
- 26:14some success. He has really good hands. That
- 26:20could be interesting. Yeah. And he's not old
- 26:24and washed up or anything. We haven't seen very
- 26:27many people transition from MMA to boxing. Tony
- 26:34Ferguson? The guy who just... Last weekend. But,
- 26:40like, I can think of a couple Muay Thai guys
- 26:43and, like, kickboxers and stuff. Like, Chris
- 26:46Algieri was a kickboxing world champion. Didn't
- 26:52SSR start off in Muay Thai? Yeah, he did. Yeah.
- 26:56But I can't think of any UFC guys, UFC -style
- 27:01MMA, Bellator, any of those. I can't think of
- 27:05anybody crossing over that way. AJ, fellow Brit
- 27:15options, and Francis Ngannou. Nah, I don't think
- 27:20that's going to happen. Because if... Now that
- 27:25Dana White is able to promote boxing events because
- 27:29he has the backing of the Saudis, now that he
- 27:34can do that, if any of his fighters want to have
- 27:37a boxing event, it's not difficult. They have
- 27:41a platform. Right. That's all in -house. Oh.
- 27:51Leo, I just Googled this. They're not actually
- 27:54doing full chromosomal testing. Oh. They're doing
- 27:58a test for one specific gene that is on the Y
- 28:03chromosome. So it just tests if you have a Y
- 28:06chromosome or not. They're not doing the full,
- 28:08you have this many chromosomes. Hmm. So they
- 28:14won't know, and they're not testing men at all.
- 28:17Oh, of course not. So, you know. Yeah, it's just
- 28:23females. And apparently there is an exception
- 28:27for people with complete androgen insensitivity
- 28:32syndrome, which means that your body has no testosterone
- 28:36receptor. So I guess if you test positive for
- 28:39a Y chromosome, they'll have to do a follow -up
- 28:42test to see if your body can react to it. Seems
- 28:46complicated. Yeah, this seems pretty complicated
- 28:52for boxing. Yeah. Anyways, less invasive than
- 29:00a full chromosome test, so maybe better. I shrugged,
- 29:06since this is, like, audio only. Yeah. I just
- 29:10gave a big, like, the fuck, man. Yeah, I'm with
- 29:15you, but less invasive than finding out that
- 29:18you only have one X chromosome because you don't
- 29:22need two of those. Which is called Turner Syndrome.
- 29:29Well, on that little note, let me put some bows
- 29:34on here. Fucking housekeeping shit, what do I
- 29:38got? Social media stuff, LVX Media Net, all one
- 29:43word. Follow us. Most active on Instagram, but
- 29:48you can hit us up wherever you'd like. Wherever
- 29:52you're listening, hit us with the rating. And
- 29:54if you're feeling froggy, a review would be cool
- 29:56too. But rating is nice. 833 -589 -7637. If you
- 30:03want to drop a line on the... chromosome testing.
- 30:10I'm sure that'll be a good conversation. You
- 30:15can text if you'd like. If you want to talk about
- 30:17Floyd Mayweather versus Mike Tyson, tell me what
- 30:19you think about it. Floyd Mayweather is ducking

- 33:05than the Misfits fight. Tony Ferguson beats Salt
- 33:13Poppy. And I think it was Darren Till got laid
- 33:18the fuck out. I did not watch this, I'm not gonna
- 33:23lie. I don't really remember. I know for sure
- 33:27Tony Ferguson beat Salt Poppy. Yeah. Just because
- 33:30I know who Tony Ferguson is. The other two, the
- 33:34main event was Darren Till versus something or
- 33:38other. And I have no idea who the fuck they are.
- 33:40But one of them got murked. So that's fun. Nice.
- 33:48Coming up this weekend. We have The Ring is doing
- 33:53an event. The Ring presents The Underdog is what
- 34:00the event is called. Not sure why. I think because
- 34:06they're little guys. Yeah, probably. I used to
- 34:11like that cartoon, Underdog. I don't remember
- 34:16that one. I remember Superdog. Superdog. That
- 34:21one's new to me. He was Superman, but a dog.
- 34:27The ring presents the underdog at the Fontainebleau
- 34:33in Las Vegas. There's a bunch of shit on here
- 34:36that I don't care about. Anthony Olasquaga versus
- 34:39Juan Carlos Camacho Rivera. I'm excited for this
- 34:44one. I really like Olasquaga. Wonder what color
- 34:49of... hair and gloves he'll have this time? It'll
- 34:52be pink again. Oh, is he at all? I'm 99 % sure.
- 34:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. His nickname is the princess.
- 34:59Oh, that's right. That's why he wears pink. That's
- 35:01him. Yeah. So he'll just do it like a different
- 35:05pattern instead of having like the cherry blossoms
- 35:07since he was in Japan last time. Yeah. That's
- 35:11cool. He'll do something French maybe. Maybe.
- 35:15Yeah. He's very... fashionable on Instagram and
- 35:21stuff, so I imagine his walkout outfit will be
- 35:23themed for sure. High fashion. Yeah. I like Ola
- 35:29Squaga. I think he'll probably win, but I don't
- 35:33really know this other guy, to be honest. I don't
- 35:36either. He's from Puerto Rico. His name is The
- 35:41Indian? El Indio? That's The Indian, right? It
- 35:45is. Yeah, the native. I guess would be what he's
- 35:50more aiming for. Probably dark. Is he dark skinned?
- 35:56I guess. Not really. Kind of. Not for Puerto
- 36:03Rico. Whenever you're dark skinned, not black,
- 36:10but when you're dark skinned, dark skinned brown,
- 36:14they call you Indio. I recognize a couple names
- 36:22on his resume that he's beat, but I think Olaskwaga
- 36:26will be able to outbox him. We'll see. Should
- 36:29be a fun fight, though. There's going to be 10
- 36:32,000 punches thrown. As smaller fights tend to
- 36:37be. That's going to be on Thursday, September
- 36:4411th. Never forget. It's going to be on the zone.
- 36:48I did forget. That's a weird night to have it.
- 36:54Isn't it? I don't know. Is it? I don't think
- 37:00so. If we don't continue to have festivities
- 37:07and other stuff on the day, then the terrorists
- 37:14win. I guess. I don't actually believe that.
- 37:22I think it would be better on a Friday than a
- 37:25Thursday, though. Absolutely. Fights on a Thursday,
- 37:29when it's, I guess, smaller profile stuff, I
- 37:36guess. It's a world title fight, though. I was
- 37:40going to say, this is a title fight. At the least,
- 37:43it should be on a Friday. Yeah, this is for the
- 37:48WBO flyweight title. Moving to Saturday, September
- 37:5613th, there are two events. First, Matchroom
- 38:00at Windsor Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
- 38:06There's quite a bit of stuff on here, some of
- 38:10which I do care about. Some of which I do not.
- 38:16Jim Donovan, I believe, is related to Patty Donovan,
- 38:19who's in the main event making his debut, so
- 38:22that's fun. Molly McCann, she's an MMA chick
- 38:27known for her bad attitude, but making a boxing
- 38:32debut here. Okay, there are way too many MMA
- 38:38girls with alliterative names. Molly McCann,
- 38:42Holly Holmes, Ronda Rousey. They sound like comic
- 38:46book characters. I didn't stop to think about
- 38:50that, but you're absolutely right. It sounds
- 38:54like shit Stan Lee made up. Peter Parker. Matt
- 39:01Murdock. Bruce Banner. Like, it was a thing that
- 39:04Stan Lee wanted them to alliterate. But the UFC
- 39:09has so many girls, women with alliterative names,
- 39:12it's ridiculous. Well, Molly McCann. Now she's
- 39:19a boxing chick. We'll see how long that lasts.
- 39:23I guess so is Holly Holmes. Yeah. Moving up the
- 39:27bill, Pat Brown is an Olympian. He's having a...
- 39:32An eight -rounder. So that's fun. Tyrone McKenna
- 39:38versus Dylan Moran at welterweight. Ishmael Davis
- 39:44versus, oh God, Kayomin Aguiarco at 154. I've
- 39:52seen him a couple times. That should be a closer
- 39:57fight than it maybe looks on paper, I think.
- 40:0113 and 2, Davis, verse 17 and 0. Agyarko. What
- 40:10a fun name. How have I not seen this before?
- 40:14Well, and that first name's very Irish, so it's
- 40:18probably like Shaman or something. Oh, yeah.
- 40:21Yeah, this dude is Irish as fuck. All right.
- 40:27Well, he's from Northern Ireland, so he's...
- 40:31He reps the Republic. Kind of Irish. He reps
- 40:34the Republic. That's fair. I'm just saying. He's
- 40:37from Belfast. There's only one Ireland. And it's
- 40:41the Republic. He was born in London. But yeah,
- 40:48I don't know how you say this Gaelic name, but
- 40:51I think it's Shaman. Shaman? Yeah. I'll take
- 40:59your word for it. And in the main event, IBF
- 41:04welterweight title on the line. It's vacant after
- 41:07Jerron Ennis moved up. Lewis Crocker versus Patty
- 41:10Donovan 2. Electric Boogaloo. This could get
- 41:16dirty. It did the first time. It could get more
- 41:21worse. Yeah. Given how it ended. I wonder who
- 41:24they have reffing. Do they put up who's the ref?
- 41:28I don't think they put that up ahead of time.
- 41:32He's gonna have his hands full. That crowd's
- 41:38gonna be lit, though. It should be good. Ireland
- 41:43versus the UK. Grudge match. In Ireland. Should
- 41:52be fun. Is Belfast Ireland? There's only one
- 41:58Ireland. I'm just saying, it should be an atmosphere.
- 42:05Yeah, absolutely. Oh, man. Speaking of atmospheres,
- 42:12in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada,
- 42:17TKO making their promotional debut on Netflix.
- 42:28There's a bunch of shit on here. Let's start
- 42:31from the bottom up. Sultan Al -Muhammad vs. Martin
- 42:37Garabayo. Don't know who either of these guys
- 42:40are. Marco Alvarez vs. Marcos Osorio. Mark squared?
- 42:52Yeah. Reito Tsutsumi versus Javier Martinez.
- 42:58That one might be fun. Yeah. Which one's Javier
- 43:04Martinez? Is he... 7 -2 guy. I don't think he's
- 43:11anybody noteworthy. No. Doesn't look like it.
- 43:18And he's on a two -loss slide. That might be
- 43:23a walkover job for Raiko. Steven Nelson versus
- 43:30Raiko Santana. I wonder... Steven Nelson has
- 43:38some fucking dope ring attire. I will never get
- 43:44over his sagging jeans. Trunks. those fucking
- 43:50underwear hanging out yeah like patterned onto
- 43:54the trunk that was that bothered me the entire
- 43:58fight yeah me too yeah pull up your fucking pants
- 44:04oh wait they are up so weird we were we were
- 44:09all sitting in like in a row in our seats and
- 44:13i just Nobody was saying anything. They were
- 44:17just getting in the ring and like, what's wrong
- 44:19with his pants? Why are his pants sagging? And
- 44:23we're all looking like, what the fuck? Is he
- 44:26sagging his pants in a professional boxing match?
- 44:30The illusion was very, very well done. Like whoever
- 44:34made those did a super good job. Yeah. And then
- 44:39he did the M. Bison when he fought Diego Pacheco.
- 44:44So that should be cool. So it should be cool
- 44:46what he does next. He should hook up with Mizuki.
- 44:54Yeah. Do some collabs. I don't think their styles
- 45:03are very similar. Ivan Ditchko versus Jermaine
- 45:08Franklin. Have you been wondering where Jermaine
- 45:11Franklin is? Well, here he is. Shaking my head.
- 45:18I got to narrate. Nobody's been wondering. Right.
- 45:23Callum Walsh versus Fernando Vargas Jr. Starting
- 45:29to get interesting. This is a decent fight. Decent
- 45:34for what it is anyway. These guys are both at
- 45:37similar levels. So this should be fun. I got
- 45:39to look at pictures before I... Okay, I know
- 45:44who these two are. Callum Walsh looks so weird
- 45:47in his picture on BoxRec. I don't know why. Yeah,
- 45:54I'm kind of excited for this one, actually. Are
- 45:57we going to get the UK versus Mexico buff? Maybe.
- 46:06I know he's not really from Mexico. No, he's
- 46:08not. He's one step removed. So maybe. So does
- 46:12the buff apply? I don't think so. Moving up,
- 46:18Sergei Bohachuk versus Brandon Adams rematch.
- 46:22This was the guy that beat Sergei Bohachuk the
- 46:25first time. His first loss was to Brandon Adams.
- 46:30I don't think it's going to happen again. No,
- 46:32it was a really quick knockout too. That's not
- 46:35happening again. Brandon Adams has been quietly
- 46:39keeping his career going pretty well. He went
- 46:43into the overtime circuit and he's made deep
- 46:47runs into their brackets or whatever. He's only
- 46:54lost to decent names, I guess. I don't know what
- 47:01you think of Katsarakis. He's okay. I guess those
- 47:10first two losses a long time ago were not great,
- 47:14but recently he's only lost a decent name. Willie
- 47:17Monroe Jr. is not a terrible loss. Apollo Thompson,
- 47:22I don't know who that is, so I can't really say,
- 47:25but it was an early stoppage, so that's not good.
- 47:29And then he lost to Charlo. Yeah, he went 12
- 47:32with Charlo, which was... Sad on Charlo's side.
- 47:42This should be a good fight, though. I can't
- 47:45see Sergey getting stopped early this time. Christian
- 47:52Mbili versus Lester Martinez. Interim WBC title.
- 47:57Super middleweight title will be on the line
- 48:00here. Lester has been cutting his teeth. On Probox.
- 48:07So he's been getting good matchups and he's been
- 48:09making fucking easy work of it. So this is a
- 48:16big step up for Lester. This is a pretty decent
- 48:19step up in competition for Christian Mbili as
- 48:21well. Mbili's been knocking over cans. He has
- 48:27been. So it's hard for me to guess where Mbili's
- 48:32at. We're about to find out. I should be good.
- 48:38I'm not going to lie. I'm probably going to back
- 48:41Martinez. I like a good underdog story. He's
- 48:45been on Pro Box. Yeah. Oh, boy. Main event. Undisputed
- 48:54super middleweight title on the line. Canelo
- 48:59versus Crawford. This is going to be boring as
- 49:03fuck. I'm keeping my expectations low. Yeah.
- 49:12I don't know. I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong.
- 49:16Same. I think it's going to be Crawford being
- 49:19a little cautious because Canelo still has power
- 49:23and not being able to hurt Canelo, really. So
- 49:28I think it's going to be Canelo prod... plotting
- 49:30and Crawford pot shotting. And it's going to
- 49:34be high skill, low action, which is not my favorite.
- 49:40It's not, that's boring as shit. Yeah. I mean,
- 49:45if that's your thing. Yeah. I, you want to be
- 49:49one of those like snobby hardcore fans. That's
- 49:52like, Oh, you just don't appreciate the sweet
- 49:54science. I understand perfectly what I'm looking
- 49:58at. That does not mean I have to be entertained
- 50:01by it. Exactly. I get this bullshit all the time.
- 50:06People are like, you just don't like the sweet
- 50:07science. I'm like, no. I like to watch people
- 50:09beat the fuck out of each other. That's what
- 50:12I like. I like violence. But it should be high
- 50:21skill. If that's your thing, you'll enjoy it.
- 50:24For the casual audience that's been hearing this
- 50:27is... the super fight of the century and shit,
- 50:30the casuals are going to be disappointed. I think.
- 50:37I want to try to offer like a counter opinion,
- 50:40but I don't really have one because I'm not really
- 50:44looking forward to this. I'm looking forward
- 50:46to the rest of the card. There's, there's some
- 50:49decent fights on here. I think they have stacked
- 50:52like those just before the main event fights
- 50:55with good action fights to make up for it. Yeah.
- 50:59Like, I think they've finally started realizing
- 51:04that you kind of have to build a whole card.
- 51:10You can't expect Canelo to just carry the whole
- 51:13thing. Well, and you can't just expect the high
- 51:18-skilled guys to be exciting. I don't know how
- 51:21else to put it. You have to understand what your
- 51:24fighters are most likely to do and make a card
- 51:27that has some of both. Balance. Yeah, like that
- 51:32Times Square card was garbage because it was
- 51:36all super high skill guys. There was no stand
- 51:41and bang guys on that card. Yeah, the most exciting...
- 51:45Well, I guess Brian Garcia would have been...
- 51:49The stand and bang guy. Yeah, I was going to
- 51:54say the most exciting thing was Teofimo showboating.
- 51:58Yeah, but he's a skill guy. Exactly. When he's
- 52:01not being stupid. So... Anyways, I think they've
- 52:08balanced this card at least. That is the best
- 52:11part of it for me. Yeah. I am excited for the
- 52:16card. The main event, though, I expect to...
- 52:18watch and be like fucking do something Terrence
- 52:24Crawford can figure something out I'm gonna say
- 52:27he'll do it around rounds five to seven and if
- 52:34he can figure something out I think he'll push
- 52:36the offense just cause he has the skill to hit
- 52:43and not get hit yeah We'll see. I hope so. But
- 52:49I'm just expecting it to be Crawford pot -shotting
- 52:54from the outside, Canelo not really being able
- 52:57to catch him, and Crawford not really hurting
- 53:00Canelo, because Canelo's got an all -time chin.
- 53:02And he's pulling up a guy from two divisions
- 53:07below. Yeah. Well, and Crawford's power didn't
- 53:12seem to carry super well. To 54. Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:18And he's going up again? Yep. We'll see. I would
- 53:25like to be wrong. Well, if you, beloved listener,
- 53:29want to join in the fun in Discord, for big fights
- 53:33like this, we do competing roles. So it's just
- 53:36pick your team. Are you Team Canelo, Team Crawford?
- 53:39And you get a color based on whatever team you're
- 53:43on. And then we just shit talk each other relentlessly.
- 53:47And that's pretty much all there is to it. But
- 53:51it's fun. It's pretty fun. And if I'm wrong,
- 53:54they can call in and shit talk me on the podcast.
- 53:57Absolutely. I would love for you to call. If
- 54:00I'm wrong, please call and rub it in. 833 -LUX
- 54:04-PODS. Anything more for the Canelo Crawford?
- 54:11No. All right. Moving to Sunday. I have it. I
- 54:18wrote down Sunday, Sunday 14th. Sunday, September
- 54:2114th. This one is in Nagoya, Japan. There's a
- 54:28lot of stuff on here that I don't really know.
- 54:34There's not very many big names. Yeah, the co
- 54:37-main is okay. Yoshiki Takei. versus Christian
- 54:43Medina for the WBO Bantamweight title. But the
- 54:50reason we're here, Naoya Inoue versus Murojan
- 54:54Akhmadaliev, aka MJ, for the Undisputed 122 Championship.
- 55:02I am expecting Inoue to get a knockout in those
- 55:07mid -to -late rounds. Like... I'm going to call
- 55:11eight, I think. For thirds, I'd go back third.
- 55:21For quarters, mid -late. Yep. Yeah. I don't know.
- 55:29I don't think MJ's going to have anything super
- 55:34surprising. He's a lefty. Yeah. I don't know.
- 55:42And he's stablemates with Cardenas, who did have
- 55:51that big knockdown over Inouye. He should have
- 55:55a good game plan, I think. Absolutely. I'm really
- 55:58hoping Inouye comes in more awake than he has
- 56:04the last couple. You don't need to get knocked
- 56:07down before you start taking it serious. It would
- 56:11be good if you didn't. It would be nice. Yeah,
- 56:15I would be happier. One day. MJ could knock him
- 56:22down. It could happen. Yeah, it's not out of
- 56:25the... It wouldn't be too... It would be shocking,
- 56:29but not surprising. Yeah. One day. naoya's gonna
- 56:36on like his retirement little press conference
- 56:39he's gonna say i got knocked down every fight
- 56:43because nobody would fight me if i didn't if
- 56:47i didn't go down if i didn't look human nobody
- 56:50would fight me yeah yeah it's all part of the
- 56:53strategy yep the whole time i was just uh just
- 56:58trying to make the monster look human yeah Totally.
- 57:06I would prefer if that was not the strategy.
- 57:08Yeah, well, they got Picasso into the ring, finally.
- 57:12Oh, yeah. Yeah, great. So excited for that. Because
- 57:17Picasso was such a threat. So stupid. I booked
- 57:28my seat at the bar to watch this one, so I'm
- 57:33going to go into Tokyo. Should be fun. Yeah.
- 57:36Are you going to go for the Canelo Crawford?
- 57:40It starts at 10 a .m., and it takes me an hour
- 57:43and a half to get there. I don't know if I want
- 57:45to wake up early enough to be on the train at
- 57:478 .30. The whole card starts at 10? No, I think
- 57:54the fight starts at 10. The bar opens at 10.
- 57:57Okay. wherever that wherever they're at on the
- 58:01card at that point is yeah yeah because the the
- 58:04guy who runs it that bar he's the boxing fan
- 58:07like the guy who owns it so if he opens early
- 58:11for these things then he's just there all day
- 58:13so he's gonna work from 10 a .m to the end of
- 58:17the the in a way fight oh that's a long day yeah
- 58:22so makes sense they also don't really have food
- 58:25at that bar So I don't think I'm... I want to
- 58:28eat and stuff before I go. At a bar, when I was
- 58:34in Korea, the regular bar that all of the Americans,
- 58:38all the GIs went to, they would always order
- 58:41stuff for you. Just because... Well, he has some
- 58:47food, but it's not good. Oh. So I don't feel
- 58:52like I can order food in. but I don't want to
- 58:57eat there. Yeah, okay, that makes more sense.
- 59:00So, I just didn't want to say that. It's not
- 59:03terrible, it's just not very good for the price.
- 59:12I was trying not to shit -talk my favorite bar.
- 59:15Yeah, well, lean into it, and just do the order
- 59:23-ins for... Order in for people? Just for everybody.
- 59:27For whoever needs it, like whoever can't order
- 59:29it themselves. I eat with the foreigners. I can
- 59:37order food there. It's just not very good food.
- 59:40Yeah. Well, that's all we got. Let me make a
- 59:50noise. Pop quiz, hotshot. What's tiny, fuzzy,
- 59:55and responsible for a large portion of the food
- 59:57we eat? If you guessed bees, well, you nailed
- 1:00:00it. Seriously, one out of every three bites on
- 1:00:03your plate depends on bees. So there's a bit
- 1:00:06of bad news here. These little heroes of our
- 1:00:08gardens and dinners are struggling. Between habitat
- 1:00:11loss, climate change, and pesticides, it's a
- 1:00:15fucking bummer. Without them, our world would
- 1:00:18look a lot different and it would be a lot less
- 1:00:20delicious. But there is good news. Support for

- 1:01:11into a pretty busy weekend. Some pretty good
- 1:01:15stuff on it. Canelo Crawford. Inouye versus MJ.
- 1:01:20Parting words. Parting words. I did not think
- 1:01:29of parting words for this week. Oh, nobody else
- 1:01:35in the world fucking cares, but the Saskatchewan
- 1:01:38Rough Riders won the 60th Labor Day Classic at
- 1:01:42home. And the next weekend, we always go to Winnipeg.
- 1:01:47for the Banjo Bowl is what we call it. So everybody
- 1:01:51should watch the Banjo Bowl this weekend somehow.
- 1:01:56It's really fun. The Riders fans wear watermelons
- 1:02:02on their heads. The Blue Bombers fans have sex
- 1:02:05with their cousins, you know. That's why it's
- 1:02:10called the Banjo Bowl. They play this song from
- 1:02:13Deliverance. Yeah. The dueling banjos. Let's
- 1:02:22see. I got this one from Oscar Wilde. Life is
- 1:02:25far too important a thing ever to talk seriously
- 1:02:28about. It's very good, Oscar. I can get behind
- 1:02:33that. It's very good, Oscar. Well done. Oscar
- 1:02:37Wilde is one of the craziest stories. Yeah. Every
- 1:02:43story I hear about him is madness. He definitely
- 1:02:48followed that advice and did not take it too
- 1:02:51seriously. Man, that's it for this edition of
- 1:02:56Boxing Before Dark. My battery is getting low.
- 1:03:01And it is getting dark. See you on the other
- 1:03:05side, Canelo and Inouye.
