- 0:00Speaker 1: President Trump has authorized the United States Navy to destroy
- 0:04Speaker 1: any Iranian fast boats that attempt to put mines in
- 0:07Speaker 1: the water or disrupt passage through the Strait of Hormones,
- 0:10Speaker 1: to shoot and kill. Our commanders have clear rules of engagement.
- 0:14Speaker 1: If Iran is putting mines in the water or otherwise
- 0:16Speaker 1: threatening American commercial shipping or American forces, we will shoot
- 0:20Speaker 1: to destroy, no hesitation, just like the drug boats in
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Caribbean.
- 0:25Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Good Saturday morning.
- 0:30Speaker 4: It's nice to have you with us on the forty
- 0:31Speaker 4: seven Morning Update, and we've got two big stories for you.
- 0:34Speaker 4: First up, new polling data is out on what Americans
- 0:37Speaker 4: think about deporting all illegal immigrants in this country, and
- 0:42Speaker 4: the data may shock you.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I'll have that in just a moment.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Also, we break down this new story that the FBI
- 0:48Speaker 4: is now looking into mysterious deaths of top levels scientists
- 0:52Speaker 4: in this country all over the country. So what is
- 0:55Speaker 4: behind this and are there any connections. Now, before we
- 0:58Speaker 4: get to that, I want to talk to you real
- 1:00Speaker 4: quick about the amazing work that's being done by Compassion
- 1:03Speaker 4: International and how you can get involved. Love generosity and compassion.
- 1:08Speaker 4: We say those words all the time, and they sound good,
- 1:11Speaker 4: they feel good.
- 1:12Speaker 3: But here's the truth.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Those words don't mean anything unless they turn into action,
- 1:18Speaker 4: and right now, not later, today, not tomorrow. There's a
- 1:22Speaker 4: child in the world who doesn't know if they'll eat,
- 1:26Speaker 4: if they'll have a chance to learn, or if there's
- 1:29Speaker 4: any hope at all. And while we're all busy, life
- 1:33Speaker 4: keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting. This is
- 1:37Speaker 4: where you come in with Compassion International. You have the
- 1:40Speaker 4: chance to change a child's future, not just with words,
- 1:44Speaker 4: not with promises, but with real help that provides food, education,
- 1:49Speaker 4: and hope through local churches and people already in their community.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Put your words into action and join me introduce a
- 1:59Speaker 4: child to a loving heavenly father today at Compassion dot com.
- 2:04Speaker 4: That's Compassion dot Com. It's the forty seven Morning Update
- 2:08Speaker 4: and it starts right now.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:11Speaker 4: There is a very interesting new poll that has just
- 2:14Speaker 4: come out and it says something that now I want
- 2:16Speaker 4: your take on. Nearly one third of registered voters now
- 2:21Speaker 4: say all illegal immigrants should be deported. Yes, nearly one
- 2:27Speaker 4: third of registered voters say that every single illegal immigrant
- 2:30Speaker 4: in the United States America should be deported. This is
- 2:33Speaker 4: a new survey from the Economists and you gov found now.
- 2:37Speaker 4: The survey first ass respondents this which comes closest to
- 2:43Speaker 4: your view about illegal immigrants who are living in the US. Overall,
- 2:48Speaker 4: forty three percent of registered voters expressed the belief that
- 2:51Speaker 4: they should be allowed to stay in the US and
- 2:54Speaker 4: eventually apply for citizenship. That number is followed by about
- 2:59Speaker 4: forty percent percent who say they should be deported. Only
- 3:03Speaker 4: seven percent said they should be allowed to stay in
- 3:05Speaker 4: the US but not become citizens.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Now here's the interesting part.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Survey then asked respondents to identify which illegal immigrants they
- 3:15Speaker 4: believe should be deported, and nearly one third of registered
- 3:19Speaker 4: voters thirty one percent said all illegal immigrants should be deported.
- 3:24Speaker 4: A majority of registered voters sixty percent, agreed that illegal
- 3:29Speaker 4: aliens convicted of serious crimes should be removed from the country,
- 3:34Speaker 4: followed by nineteen percent who believe illegal immigrants convicted of
- 3:38Speaker 4: minor crimes should be deported as well. Only three percent
- 3:43Speaker 4: believe that illegal aliens who have lived in the US
- 3:46Speaker 4: for many years without committing any crime should be deported.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Now also something else, just three percent believe illegal immigrants
- 3:56Speaker 4: who came to the US as children should be deported.
- 4:00Speaker 4: There's a sharp difference in opinion on party lines. That's
- 4:03Speaker 4: not surprising at all. Most Republicans fifty seven percent believe
- 4:08Speaker 4: all legal immigrants should be deported. Twenty four percent of
- 4:12Speaker 4: Independence and seven percent of Democrats agree. Now, most Democrats
- 4:18Speaker 4: and Independence eighty one percent and sixty three percent, respectively
- 4:23Speaker 4: believe illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes should be deported. Now,
- 4:29Speaker 4: the survey was taken and it was a very good sample.
- 4:32Speaker 4: This survey comes as the Department of Homeland Security continues
- 4:36Speaker 4: to highlight arrests of dangerous criminal legal aliens across the country.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Their crimes include crimes against children. Jose rivera Orta, a
- 4:46Speaker 4: criminal legal alien from Cuba, for example, was arrested by
- 4:50Speaker 4: Ice and was convicted for lewd battery.
- 4:54Speaker 3: On a child in Miami Dade County, Florida.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Another arrests, Jacob Pablo Ramirez, hailing from Guatemala, was convicted
- 5:04Speaker 4: for attempted statutory rape of a child in Dublin County,
- 5:08Speaker 4: North Carolina. Other crimes include voluntary manslaughter, robbery, an aggravate
- 5:15Speaker 4: assault with a deadly weapon. In fact, just yesterday, ICE
- 5:19Speaker 4: arrested some truly sick individuals, including murderers, pedophiles, sexual predators,
- 5:26Speaker 4: and violent thugs. That coming from the DHS Secretary Mark Waynemullen,
- 5:32Speaker 4: he said in a statement a coming the April fourteenth
- 5:35Speaker 4: press release, highlighting the fact that nearly seventy percent of
- 5:40Speaker 4: all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted
- 5:46Speaker 4: of a crime in the United States of America. Now,
- 5:50Speaker 4: this poll number is interesting because if you listen to
- 5:53Speaker 4: the left, you listen to the media, they make you
- 5:56Speaker 4: think that the president is completely out to lunch and
- 6:01Speaker 4: that he's crazy to think that Americans want illegal immigrants
- 6:05Speaker 4: to be deported. Well, guess what, they're wrong, And yeah,
- 6:10Speaker 4: they put out a ton of propaganda on this exact issue.
- 6:15Speaker 4: But that also is interesting from another perspective, is that
- 6:19Speaker 4: propaganda working as well as they thought it was going to.
- 6:23Speaker 3: The reality is probably not.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Americans understand the crimes are being committed against them. They
- 6:31Speaker 4: understand what it's doing to their communities, and that is
- 6:35Speaker 4: exactly why the President of the United States of America
- 6:38Speaker 4: continues to stay steadfast on this issue. It's also a
- 6:42Speaker 4: reason why Republicans should listen up and watch closely to
- 6:47Speaker 4: this data, especially going into the midterm elections. So here
- 6:53Speaker 4: we are another moment where the media lied about what
- 6:56Speaker 4: the American people want. The media lie about where the
- 7:01Speaker 4: president was with the American people. And yes, many of
- 7:04Speaker 4: them are still supporting the president and they believe that immigration,
- 7:09Speaker 4: specifically illegal immigrants should not get to stay.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Instead, they should be deported. Next story number two, I
- 7:19Speaker 3: want to give you.
- 7:19Speaker 4: An update on a story we talked about several days ago,
- 7:23Speaker 4: and that is there are some missing US scientists. Now,
- 7:27Speaker 4: this is a story that has taken on a life
- 7:29Speaker 4: of its own as many on the Internet are freaking
- 7:31Speaker 4: out and conspiracy theories are running rampant. This doesn't mean
- 7:36Speaker 4: that there may not actually be some truth to this story.
- 7:39Speaker 4: In general, we now are learning that the FBI is
- 7:43Speaker 4: leading the investigation into the deaths or disappearances of scientists
- 7:48Speaker 4: and staffers who worked at sensitive nuclear or space technology laboratories.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Federal authorities have stepped in to determine whether any connections
- 7:59Speaker 4: exist among at least ten different cases now involving individuals
- 8:04Speaker 4: that are directly tied to what is described as high
- 8:08Speaker 4: level research facilities. Now, these facilities include places like NASA's
- 8:13Speaker 4: Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Loews Alamos National Laboratory. In
- 8:19Speaker 4: a statement, the FBI confirmed that it is spearheading the
- 8:24Speaker 4: effort in coordination with the Department of Energy, the Department
- 8:28Speaker 4: of War and State, as well as local law enforcement agencies.
- 8:33Speaker 4: All this coming now from CBS News Now. This move
- 8:37Speaker 4: signals a heightened federal response after growing concerns over a
- 8:43Speaker 4: pattern that some officials have described as eyebrow raising. President
- 8:48Speaker 4: Donald Trump has also weighed in on this, calling the
- 8:52Speaker 4: situation pretty serious stuff and indicating the administration is monitoring developments.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Trump also hoped that the cases are coincidental, but emphasized
- 9:03Speaker 4: the need for answers, noting that some of them were
- 9:07Speaker 4: very important people, referring to the scientists. The incident, which
- 9:12Speaker 4: spans now several years, includes a mix of disappearances, homicides,
- 9:17Speaker 4: and then unexplained deaths.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Among the most high profile.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Cases is the disappearance of a retired Air Force Major General,
- 9:26Speaker 4: William Neil McCaslin in New Mexico earlier this year. Mcastlin,
- 9:32Speaker 4: who previously led the airport's research laboratory, vanished after leaving
- 9:37Speaker 4: his home without his phone or personal devices. Sparking major
- 9:41Speaker 4: speculation online. Other cases also include a NASA affiliated aerospace
- 9:47Speaker 4: engineer who disappeared while hiking in California, and multiple deaths
- 9:52Speaker 4: involving scientists in Massachusetts and California to add on to
- 9:57Speaker 4: the list. Now, look some of these cases of clear explanation,
- 10:01Speaker 4: such as criminal acts and personal circumstances, and that's where
- 10:05Speaker 4: the Internet doesn't want to look at those actual facts.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Now there is truth that some of these are unresolved.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Despite all the online speculation, experts now and investigators have
- 10:19Speaker 4: cautioned against jumping to any conclusions. Officials familiar with the
- 10:25Speaker 4: cases say there is currently no confirmly connecting any of
- 10:30Speaker 4: these incidences, and some point to the large workforce across
- 10:34Speaker 4: these facilities as a factor, saying, quote, people do just
- 10:39Speaker 4: die is what one former Energy Department official noted, citing
- 10:44Speaker 4: health issues, accidents, and other causes. Still, there is enough
- 10:49Speaker 4: concern about potential foreign involvement that now some Republican lawmakers
- 10:54Speaker 4: have even suggested adversaries such as China, Russia, or Iran
- 11:00Speaker 4: could see value in targeting US scientific expertise, particularly amid
- 11:05Speaker 4: heightened global tensions and the ongoing conflict in Iran Representative
- 11:11Speaker 4: Eric Burlason, a Republican, said he would not be surprised
- 11:15Speaker 4: if foreign actors were involved, noting that several of the
- 11:19Speaker 4: individuals worked on sense of national security projects.
- 11:22Speaker 3: The FBI expanded.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Role follows increased public attention fueled in part by the
- 11:28Speaker 4: social media speculation and then demands for transparency.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So where are we now well?
- 11:35Speaker 4: The House Oversight Committee has now launched its own probe,
- 11:39Speaker 4: seeking briefings from multiple federal agencies. At the same time,
- 11:44Speaker 4: agencies such as NASA have also said that there is
- 11:47Speaker 4: no evidence in their mind of national security threat tied
- 11:51Speaker 4: to the cases. Underscoring the uncertainties surrounding all of this,
- 11:56Speaker 4: and as investigators continue their work, one thing is clear.
- 12:00Speaker 4: The Trump administration is pledging what they described is a
- 12:04Speaker 4: thorough review, and officials are promising that no stone quote
- 12:08Speaker 4: unquote will be unturned. The FBI says they are determined
- 12:13Speaker 4: to check and see if the incidents are isolated tragedies
- 12:17Speaker 4: are part of a bigger and broader concern from foreign
- 12:20Speaker 4: countries that may be trying to take out our scientists
- 12:24Speaker 4: or our leaders in multiple different sectors. That's the reason
- 12:28Speaker 4: why the President said this is worth looking at.
