- 2:13I know I thought this was the original dream to have you here
- 2:16in person so come true. It's it's so so Kim Zember, for
- 2:19folks that didn't get to listen to the first one or just to kind
- 2:22of reintroduce you, tell us a little bit about who is Kim
- 2:26Zember and your background. And I want to ask specifically
- 2:28about these amazing ministries you're a founder of and
- 2:31involved. With yeah I'm still being taught
- 2:34who I am so that is but there's a lot that that the Lord's had
- 2:38me doing so I did come out of the LGBT community dated women
- 2:43for years also did missions work in Ethiopia have a mission in
- 2:48Ethiopia for the last 17 years. Love the younger generation have
- 2:53always felt kind of drawn to Gen.
- 2:56Z and just to kind of pour into the generations behind and just
- 3:02wanting to see like the passion come forth, like a real love for
- 3:06Jesus. Because like for me growing up,
- 3:08I feel like it was kind of just a lot of rules that I was trying
- 3:11to follow. And so I think when I really
- 3:13tasted and experienced Jesus in a like personal and profound
- 3:17way, there was like a hunger of like, I want others to
- 3:20experience him. Like, and then the rules and all
- 3:23that all like fall into place. So yeah, I don't know who I
- 3:27know. I'm a beloved daughter.
- 3:28I've learned that recently. And so all the other kind of
- 3:31titles and and things are all a part of it, but really like the
- 3:35rootedness in just being a beloved daughter and learning
- 3:39what that is like experientially, not just words.
- 3:42So yeah, it's life changing when you actually experience what it
- 3:46means to be a daughter or a son of God.
- 3:48Yeah, and it's like not exhausting to try to be
- 3:51something, right? Like just to receive an identity
- 3:55is huge. It's it's changed my life in the
- 3:58sense of like there's just not as much much pressure to perform
- 4:03or pressure to impress, but you should kind of get to rest in
- 4:07what Jesus has done and, and let him guide you.
- 4:09So it's been a gift. In all your ministry, and I want
- 4:13to get to the specific ministries, but in your ministry
- 4:16time, because I'm thinking about the people that I've met over
- 4:18the years. And when you talk about being a
- 4:20child of God with you get to that, have that conversation.
- 4:23How many people do you do you encounter who you know deeply
- 4:27may be hungering for that, but they never have had that moment
- 4:31of that just eternal peace in their soul that they are loved
- 4:34by a Father? Yeah, sadly, I feel like with
- 4:39how much, you know, I'm, I'm blessed to be able to go out and
- 4:42share, you know, not only testimony, but the testimony of
- 4:45Christ, right. And then how that's reflected in
- 4:46my life. And I just find a lot of people
- 4:51in that place of like just searching for their identity
- 4:54and, and I think sometimes even more than searching for it,
- 4:57trying to earn it, even in the Christian circles, like in our
- 5:00Catholic circles and and non Catholic circles, just a lot of
- 5:05striving, earning and deserving and feeling like it's kind of
- 5:09conditional, right? When they do good, you know,
- 5:12they're, they're now a beloved child of God.
- 5:14But when they kind of fail or falter, it's like, you know,
- 5:17they got to start over. And so it's been really kind of
- 5:20it, it kind of pricks my own heart just to see how many
- 5:24people, like I'm not the only one that struggled with with
- 5:28this. And I think even outside of
- 5:29Christian circles, like I get emails and messages all the time
- 5:32from people that are like, I've been struggling with my identity
- 5:35even outside of sexuality, right?
- 5:38And so I think it's like an epidemic, to be honest, just in
- 5:41our world. Like we were created to be
- 5:43someone. And I think we've all tried to
- 5:45become that instead of receive that from God.
- 5:48So yeah, I see it a lot for sure.
- 5:51I saw a survey last year that said that I think it was one in
- 5:54four evangelical millennials identify.
- 6:00They feel like their identity is the LGBTQ.
- 6:04Yeah. Plus label.
- 6:06Yeah, I would, I would say that that number is probably growing.
- 6:09I don't want to like speak that over the generation, but unless
- 6:13a unless a more rooted identity is presented, I think that's
- 6:19what we do. Like if we don't know who we
- 6:21are, we're going to go figure it out for ourselves.
- 6:23And so you identify with your sexual desires, you identify
- 6:26with the career you have, whatever it be.
- 6:29And so but we were created to be seen.
- 6:32We really were. And I think that's where
- 6:33sometimes in the church, it's, it's hard because we, you know,
- 6:37we want this life of humility, but we were created to be seen,
- 6:41not so that we could have glory, but so God can be glorified
- 6:44through us. And so I just, I don't know, I,
- 6:46there's such a sensitivity in my heart for this generation and,
- 6:50and for those within the LGBT community that they're like,
- 6:53this is who I am. And to me, I'm the only thing I
- 6:57can think is then you probably just haven't seen something
- 7:00better, right. And so like how how well is the
- 7:03church doing holding before for them this beautiful thing that
- 7:07that they can receive and the world actually can't take from
- 7:10them? And you don't have to like fight
- 7:13for it and like defend, you know, you can just rest in it.
- 7:16And so to me, it, it actually opens a place of compassion and
- 7:20like a desire to want to hold this before them as like, hey, I
- 7:25don't know what your life is. I haven't walked in your shoes.
- 7:29But here's my story and here's what God showed me and what I
- 7:32received and what I can rest in now.
- 7:35So. We talked about this on the
- 7:38first podcast we did a several months ago, but we didn't
- 7:41actually talk about something I want to make sure we cover,
- 7:43which is your book Restless Heart, which is that story of
- 7:47seeking that ultimate rest of identity on God and what
- 7:51attracted you to be part of that LGBT world?
- 7:55And then what changed for you, You know, how you found
- 7:59ultimately your trade identity and God.
- 8:01We talked a lot about kind of the lead up and then we talked
- 8:03about the beautiful message you shared you for everyone that our
- 8:06identity is ultimately in God, but we didn't talk about those
- 8:09moments of change for you. So I wanted to start there
- 8:13because I even had some people saying like this is so powerful
- 8:15and they wanted to read your book.
- 8:16And I think some got your book, but there was like, what was the
- 8:19what was the moment? I think it was clear why you
- 8:22changed in the end, like God's love, but what were those events
- 8:25in your life? So.
- 8:27Yeah, I mean, there's a few, and I've said this, I actually just
- 8:30did an interview not too long ago.
- 8:31I said, honestly, I think the first event was probably my
- 8:33baptism. I don't have a grid for when
- 8:36that was because I was a little, you know, infant, but I believe
- 8:39I did become a child of God at that point.
- 8:42And there was a grace that is not something you can earn, but
- 8:45something you receive. And so I, I believe the Lord
- 8:49like no matter how far I ran from him, he's always pursued
- 8:52me. It's just, it's so evident
- 8:54people that have read the book, they're like, wow, you really
- 8:58ran. But he ran faster, like, and you
- 9:01know, and so just that pursuit. But something that always stands
- 9:04out to me was when I turned, I think I was like 23 and I was
- 9:08selling real estate and just super successful dating this one
- 9:13guy. He was a football player and so
- 9:16kind of had all the outside things together.
- 9:20But I just remember there was a point when he told me that he
- 9:23loved me and I was struggling with my own sexuality.
- 9:26So already that was hard. I really liked the guy.
- 9:28I thought I knew he was a great guy, but now he's telling me he
- 9:31loves me. He didn't care about all the
- 9:33material stuff that I had and the success in real estate.
- 9:36So I'm like, what does this man love?
- 9:38And it just kind of set me on this journey of like, OK, why am
- 9:43what? What's lovable in me?
- 9:44And when I asked him why he loved me, he's like, you
- 9:47actually need to ask God because I love your heart and I'm like,
- 9:50what's my heart? And he's like, ask God.
- 9:52And so that night I laid on my bed by myself and I'm like, God,
- 9:55show me my heart. And the details are in the book.
- 9:58But God revealed the desire that actually, I, I don't know if it
- 10:02got buried, got kind of stolen covered.
- 10:04I don't know, but it was to go to Africa.
- 10:07And so that was massively profound, not only the
- 10:10revelation of asking God, then hearing a response and being
- 10:13like, Oh, you really do kind of like respond.
- 10:16You talk back like and so I ended up moving to Ethiopia.
- 10:20It was just amazing. So God events that that brought
- 10:24me there and LED me there, but that was profound in my journey
- 10:30with God and really a journey into my own heart.
- 10:34It started knocking down a lot of false things that I believed
- 10:37about myself, you know, that I had to be, you know, make a
- 10:40certain amount of money growing up in, you know, San Diego and
- 10:43just kind of an image thing. And being in Ethiopia, I'm like,
- 10:46my goodness, these kids have nothing, but they have so much
- 10:49more than I do. Like I wanted what they had, and
- 10:53yet the world said they had nothing.
- 10:55And so it just started getting to deeper levels of my heart.
- 10:58And I don't know, the Lord just moved in ways that only he can.
- 11:02And I realize I'm like, wait a minute, I'm going to go back to
- 11:05California and just make a bunch of money while these kids are
- 11:08like suffering. I was like, I could probably do
- 11:11something here. And so I sold my house, sold my
- 11:13car, everything I had moved to Ethiopia.
- 11:16And that was transformational. That was like a yes, I think
- 11:20Mother Teresa says like the call within a call, right?
- 11:23And so there's been a lot of different calls.
- 11:25So that was impactful for sure. And it's been 17 years.
- 11:30Ended up starting a nonprofit, had no grid for that, had no
- 11:32desire for that. All he'd wanted to do was help
- 11:34these kids that didn't have help.
- 11:36There were little, little kids on the street, and God help me
- 11:39to build something. That's where Unforgotten Faces
- 11:42started. But I was still struggling with
- 11:44my identity. I was still struggling with, I
- 11:46would say, desires. When I would come back to the
- 11:48States after living in Ethiopia to visit family, I remember
- 11:51people would be like, oh, you're the missionary.
- 11:53I'm like, no, no, like, I do missions, but no.
- 11:57And so it was still like, I didn't know who I was, didn't
- 12:01know the whole child of God thing.
- 12:02Like, I'd heard that growing up. But I'm like, yeah, I got to
- 12:04really do good to, like, keep that title.
- 12:06And that's just too much. And I know I can't.
- 12:08I honestly, I'll fail every time.
- 12:10And so just this journey, but started dating women and
- 12:14whatnot. And the book unpacks all the
- 12:17details of that as well. And there was a lot of wrestles
- 12:21there. There was a lot of hiding, a lot
- 12:22of heartache, but it was October.
- 12:24So there was the Ethiopia and then there was October 17th,
- 12:272014 that I will never forget. And is that is the night that I
- 12:32said God, I am done being God. Like I'm messing my life up.
- 12:36I'm messing other people's life up.
- 12:38Like everything in my little wake, everybody's affected in a
- 12:41negative way. And I got to experience my life
- 12:45being a gift while I was in Ethiopia.
- 12:47So I'm like, you didn't put me on this earth to like 'cause so
- 12:51much turmoil and and hurt to myself and to others.
- 12:55And so it was that night that I said, God you, I've, I've heard
- 12:58you're good. I need you to show me like for
- 13:01real, just tonight, whenever, but do it quick, like show me
- 13:05that you're be you're better at being God that I am.
- 13:08And and you know, I was in real estate.
- 13:09So I was like, and I'm going to go on lease to own.
- 13:11I'm like not all in yet. I'm like, but if you show me
- 13:14that you are better at being God than I am, then you got me.
- 13:18And I'm telling you Lila, every day since October 17th, 2014, he
- 13:22has showed his faithfulness. Everything is one of the most
- 13:26profound. I, I kind of consider that day
- 13:27my birthday and it may be a strange way to to some, but it
- 13:31is He marked me. I believe he marked me.
- 13:35Or maybe I was willing to be marked finally.
- 13:39And so Ethiopia was a marking October 17th, a marking and and
- 13:43he's continued. I mean, my my side of the
- 13:46journey has not been the most faithful, but his has and so and
- 13:50then now leading me into another real profound one was called
- 13:55into. I felt called into the
- 13:57International House of Prayer in Atlanta to do an internship.
- 14:00And that's where I really started learning about identity
- 14:03as a beloved daughter and and really getting away from the
- 14:07earnings, driving deserving and to rest in the finished work of
- 14:11the cross, which now, of course involves our cooperation with
- 14:15grace. It's not just like cool, just do
- 14:17nothing now, like no, it's a love that stirs that you want to
- 14:20give back. So those three things were
- 14:23massively there's. So there's so much in between,
- 14:26but those really had profound effect on my mind, on my heart,
- 14:31on my, on my everything, to be honest.
- 14:34Our next sponsor is 7 Weeks Coffee.
- 14:36Seven Weeks Coffee is, yes, my favorite coffee brand.

- 15:14you're listening to this podcast, try it
- 15:16sevenweekscoffee.com. So you're at this rock bottom.
- 15:19It's October 2014. You say God, I'm giving you your
- 15:23moment to be God for me. I'm not going to be God, but you
- 15:27got to do this for me. It's like you had this openness
- 15:29because I'm sure life wasn't easy after that.
- 15:32No, it maybe was harder in some ways.
- 15:34It was, you know, there was a grace, to be honest, that I had
- 15:38never experienced. Like those things were hard.
- 15:40It was almost like the things that I was diving into in the
- 15:45world just kind of started to lose their flavor.
- 15:49And but it wasn't just like God was pulling me out of something.
- 15:52He was drawing me into himself. And so though, yes, it was, it
- 15:56was hard. I mean, I cried.
- 15:58There's so much happening. And I just literally put it all
- 16:02out in the book. Like I didn't hide because I was
- 16:04like, people need to read this because they're probably going
- 16:06to go through it. And and if we just make it sound
- 16:08like it's all rainbows and lollipops, when you say, you
- 16:10know, Jesus be Lord of my life, it's just, it's not true.
- 16:14There's going to be challenges. But, you know, through it all,
- 16:17there was always a grace. There was always a grace.
- 16:19So even in my weakest moments, when I'm face down in my ground,
- 16:23you know, on the floor weeping and just saying, I don't want to
- 16:26do this, you know, I get up and I'm like, yes, I do.
- 16:28Like there was just a, you know, but there was the realness.
- 16:31It was raw. It was unfiltered, you know,
- 16:34with the Lord. And so I was just very, very
- 16:36honest with him on the struggles and where I needed him to be
- 16:38Lord. Like I'm not strong enough to
- 16:41not go back to old ways. So you've got to show me that
- 16:44there's something better. And every time I prayed that he
- 16:47brought himself in a different way.
- 16:49And so I did taste something that was better.
- 16:51It's almost like totally different, you know, But just
- 16:54for kind of to be able to relate is like when you stop maybe
- 16:58eating like not healthy stuff, but when you've replaced it with
- 17:02something healthy, you know it's good for you.
- 17:04But there's also it tastes good. It's much easier to let go of
- 17:08what's not so good when you've got something better.
- 17:10And that that's what he's continued to do is he's
- 17:12continued to show me, but I have to trust him.
- 17:15Like there's a open handedness and he removes but then he
- 17:19places, right? So yeah, not not easy at all,
- 17:24but 100% worth it. So I remember in the book you I,
- 17:28if I remember correctly, it was such a powerful book.
- 17:30When I first read it was I think a year and a half ago or maybe
- 17:32two years ago now. I was like, I remember thinking
- 17:34I need to talk, I need to get to talk to Kim at some point.
- 17:36So this is so great to meet you in person.
- 17:37But I, if I remember correctly, there was this in your journey.
- 17:42You are not wanting to identify say like I am lesbian.
- 17:46That was something that you just, you know, maybe it was
- 17:48your faith background or just you didn't buy that kind of
- 17:51label stuff. Well, to explain that more,
- 17:54because I, I think for folks listening and I'm we're going to
- 17:57get to later on in the interview questions that people had
- 17:59because they put out, Hey, I'm interviewing Kim again and got a
- 18:01ton of people with their questions about what many
- 18:04things. But what does it mean for
- 18:06someone who recognizes at this instinctual level, OK, this is
- 18:10not my identity, like being LGBT versus those that really do, and
- 18:17the differences maybe in how they can come out of that and
- 18:20find true freedom in their identity as a son or daughter of
- 18:23God? Yeah.
- 18:24Does that question make sense? Oh.
- 18:25For sure. Yeah.
- 18:26So I think too, remembering that I grew up in church, I grew up
- 18:30hearing about God, right. And so and I remember, like I
- 18:34said, and and people might think I'm crazy, but it's OK.
- 18:36I'm used to that. And it's thank God they don't
- 18:38define me. But like I said when I was
- 18:40baptized, I believe there's been a grace over my life to not
- 18:45receive what is not true. OK.
- 18:48And so like. That's a gift.
- 18:50You didn't believe the lie? Yeah, even though you might be
- 18:54tempted to still kind of live not in the truth.
- 18:56Even though everything in my life showed me otherwise, there
- 18:59was something deep down which I I'm not going to take credit for
- 19:03now. We can respond to it or not.
- 19:05And most of my life I didn't respond to it right, But when I
- 19:08did, my goodness. So I think for me when, when
- 19:13that grace is present and I knew, so yes, I was dating
- 19:17women. I, I did know that it was wrong.
- 19:20That didn't mean I liked the truth.
- 19:22But ultimately, like I always knew I had priests.
- 19:25I had a Catholic counselor that was telling me it's OK.
- 19:28But deep, deep down, and it wasn't like, oh man, it's
- 19:32because gay has a negative connotation.
- 19:34I didn't, as I just said, I didn't receive the title
- 19:37missionary. And in Christian circles, that's
- 19:39like, that could be a badge of honor.
- 19:41But even then I was like, no, that's just not who I am.
- 19:44It's yes, it's what I'm doing. And so for me, when people
- 19:47started calling me gay, I'm like, no, I really am dating
- 19:50women. I'm not going to pretend like
- 19:51I'm not. But it's not who I am.
- 19:53Just like, I'm not a missionary. And so I believe it was grace,
- 19:57but I also believe I was raised up to know what was true, right?
- 20:01And so when you do know truth, even when something looks
- 20:04appealing and you even want to receive it, you know it.
- 20:07It's just hard when you know different.
- 20:09You know, you, you and, and my family wasn't the type that like
- 20:12pushed me out when I was in the lifestyle.
- 20:15They did not ever celebrate what God himself didn't celebrate.
- 20:19But they never, I was not outcasted.
- 20:21I was not, you know, and so it wasn't like, oh, it's just the
- 20:24pressure of the family. I'm like, my family told me a
- 20:26lot of things that I didn't do, you know what I mean?
- 20:29And so this was not just this like just I got to be obedient.
- 20:32I mean, if you read the book, there's not a lot of of
- 20:35obedience in that, but I, I really think for people who you,
- 20:41what is truth? I mean, we're like today
- 20:44everybody says, oh, truth is whatever you kind of want it to
- 20:47be. That's not true.
- 20:49Like it might sound good, but I lived that way and my life was a
- 20:53mess when there was no real truths like rooted, grounded,
- 20:57not just what I want, what I feel or what other people want
- 21:00or feel. There's no grounding.
- 21:03Like we weren't created by God to be God, you know, and I
- 21:06ultimately just always kind of knew that though I wanted to try
- 21:10it out and I tried it out for sure.
- 21:12So my thing that people would be like, hey, do you want to hear?
- 21:15Like could you possibly imagine? See, because so many people are
- 21:18like, well, I just don't want to follow all those rules.
- 21:21That just sounds, it sounds like it's man made just so man can
- 21:24control you. And I'm like, OK, why would I
- 21:27freely choose that when I was in the lifestyle, doing whatever I
- 21:31wanted, still loved by my family, still loved by my
- 21:33friends, loved probably by the community even and more, right,
- 21:37like celebrating it. Why would I choose this other?
- 21:41Like there's a real experience there.
- 21:43And that's where some people are like, I'm surprised you don't
- 21:46get beat up when you do interviews.
- 21:47I'm like, I'm sharing my life. I'm sharing my experience.
- 21:50I'm not telling you you have to do it.
- 21:51But hey, I mean, how many times have you went and seen a movie
- 21:54and you're like, you call everybody, you know, you sound
- 21:57up blast, you know, on social media and you're like, go see
- 21:59this movie. That's all I'm doing.
- 22:01I'm like, there's something else out there.
- 22:04Y'all are you? Do you want to try it?
- 22:06Do you want to see a loving, tender, merciful father that's
- 22:09got good plans for you? Right?
- 22:12And, and I just don't know how much he's presented that way.
- 22:15So I think that's why a lot of people are like, this is good,
- 22:17this is stable, this is unchanging.
- 22:19And it's sad because even in the LGBT community, you know, you
- 22:23can say it's unchanging, but I know many people take God out of
- 22:27the equation. These aren't Christian people
- 22:30that ended up no longer having same sex desires.
- 22:34In the LGBT in the. LGBT so so who are you now?
- 22:38Like in a world that's constantly changing, we are
- 22:41seeking something that is consistent, something that is
- 22:44unchanging. And we know that the word of God
- 22:46says he is, he is, he was, and he always will be.
- 22:50He is the unchanging we're actually seeking.
- 22:52It really is. And then when we now our
- 22:54identities are tied to him, guess what?
- 22:56Now our identity is unchanging, but I just don't know how good
- 22:59of a job. I mean, I didn't remember that
- 23:01growing up, you know? And so I grabbed for what I
- 23:04could to feel confident, to feel wanted, to feel seen, to feel
- 23:10like someone. What do you what do you say to
- 23:13people like the counselor that you had, the Catholic counselor
- 23:16who is saying to you, no, God is accepting of being in the LGBT
- 23:21lifestyle and it's OK, It's all OK.
- 23:24And unfortunately just be monogamous.
- 23:25And even like, I think it was Saddleback Church here, you
- 23:28know, so it's not just, you know, this confusion in some
- 23:31Catholic circles, although the Catholic teaching is very clear.
- 23:33But I think there's also confusion certainly in the
- 23:35evangelical world. I know Saddleback here.
- 23:37There was a viral clip of a pastor and his wife saying,
- 23:40trying to give advice, I think a lesbian or a gay couple and
- 23:43saying, well, I don't know, would we tell you to divorce
- 23:46because the God hates divorce, you know, so, so I think there's
- 23:49confusion everywhere and like that.
- 23:52That's what happens when we become God.
- 23:53That's what happens when we become God.
- 23:55And so like that Catholic counselor that you mentioned,
- 23:58what's the message to people who say I am following God, I am
- 24:03seeking God sincerely, but I'm still justifying the LGBT
- 24:07lifestyle and identity. Well, I think sometimes we look,
- 24:12we've been given reason, like logic and feelings and desires.
- 24:17And I think sometimes we try to just stay in one of those lanes
- 24:20instead of realize that there God actually created us to to
- 24:24not ignore either. And I just feel like sometimes
- 24:26we just ignore logic, right? And so for me, when I went in
- 24:30and I was seeking help, I was like, OK, I don't want to just
- 24:33go to anyone. I want to go to a Catholic
- 24:35because I knew the teachings of the church.
- 24:37So I'm like, but I want someone to walk this out with me, right?
- 24:40Like help me, you know, so I hired this counselor.
- 24:43And so for me, when when he started to kind of affirm a gay
- 24:46identity and like, well, you know, just being monogamous and
- 24:49this that I'm like, hold on a minute.
- 24:52I came in for truth, right? And I want you to deal with my
- 24:56feelings and desires, but like, don't throw either one of those
- 24:59out. And I felt like he was throwing
- 25:01out truth because I was seeking someone who was rooted in the
- 25:05Catholic teachings, which are rooted in the Bible at right.
- 25:09And so for me, I, I just couldn't.
- 25:11And he's like, well, you don't really understand the
- 25:13scriptures. And I was like, OK, so I'm just
- 25:15going to invite logic in for a second.
- 25:17So you're telling me, and mind you, I'm 18 years old at the
- 25:19time to a, you know, a counselor who's got every degree on the
- 25:23wall. And I'm like, so you're telling
- 25:25me that I don't understand the scriptures in the only place
- 25:30that I struggle. So I struggle with homosexuality
- 25:33and the scriptures make tons of sense except for there I was
- 25:37like, or are you saying I'm not going to understand scripture at
- 25:40all because he's saying, you know, homosexuality is not what
- 25:42it was then when they were writing about it to what it is
- 25:45now. And I'm like, but God's word
- 25:47says that he was, is and always will be that his word will stay
- 25:50firm. So I'm like, if that's wrong,
- 25:53then what else? So you're like just pulling at
- 25:55threads here. So you're going to stand firm on
- 25:58this in whatever scripture being true.
- 26:02But the one that I struggle with, that one's where it's Gray
- 26:04and like, you're OK. I was like, that sounds amazing
- 26:07to my feelings and desires, but it sounds a little too
- 26:10convenient. And my logic won't allow me to
- 26:12receive that because if it's either all true or it's all not.
- 26:17So if I'm going to really live my life by this, I'm all in or
- 26:20I'm all out. Like, let's just be real.
- 26:22I don't think this is a buffet and just, you know, do this.
- 26:25And so he, there's not really much you can say.
- 26:28Later. Come to find out, his sister was
- 26:31in a union with another woman. And so I have a feeling that if
- 26:35he was going to share that truth with me, he would have to bring
- 26:39that to the dinner table around his family.
- 26:41I don't know for sure, but I found that out later.
- 26:43I thought he was probably wrestling with that, you know,
- 26:46on a personal level. So which doesn't make it OK, but
- 26:50because truth, if truth is going to be truth, it applies whether
- 26:52I'm talking to you, whether I'm at a university that is non
- 26:56Christian, whether I'm at the gas station.
- 26:58And I love that. I love that I don't have to
- 27:01create truth. I just choose to agree to it and
- 27:05humble myself and say, God, you do know more than I do.
- 27:08I mean, I it's like creation telling the creator I'm smarter
- 27:14than you. I mean, that's just not logical
- 27:17to me. And maybe maybe I'm not that
- 27:19smart, but you know, I if my. Actually smart, that's why.
- 27:23Yeah, but like my toaster, if my toaster is like, Nah, that I
- 27:26know what to do. No, you don't.
- 27:28You were created just just bowing humility to the one that
- 27:32loves you and created you out of that love.
- 27:34And I'm telling you, it would be so much easier if we do that.
- 27:36It takes a lot of surrender to say, OK, I'm not in, I'm not in
- 27:42control, I'm not in charge. Do you think that the fear of
- 27:45surrender is actually what sort of letting people kind of self
- 27:49deceive a little bit? And I think self deception,
- 27:51obviously today doesn't just exist on sexuality issues.
- 27:55It exists on everything, you know, everything regarding
- 27:59marriage to like, OK, rationalizing, you know,
- 28:02divorce, you know, rationalizing, you know, any,
- 28:05any falling away from God, Our power to rationalize and self
- 28:09deceive. It scares me because I think
- 28:11about that. I'm like, I have the same power
- 28:13as anyone else for self deception.
- 28:15So we all have this power to just trick ourselves into
- 28:18thinking that we are not just that we are God, but sometimes
- 28:21even that God approves of this way or how I'm living.
- 28:24I think deep, deep down there is a lack of peace in that.
- 28:28But people can cover that up with the noise of the.
- 28:30World. And then you rally people around
- 28:34you that agree, right? Some of my favorite
- 28:36conversations, I love this, right?
- 28:38Because we we agree to what is true.
- 28:41But I actually love the conversations where someone
- 28:43doesn't agree with what I believe is true, right, Because
- 28:46those are times is I just don't want to hear an echo of my own
- 28:50thing, right? Of what what I root and ground
- 28:52my life in which is is Jesus, right?
- 28:56And so I love those conversations that aren't.
- 28:58But I think a lot of times we do drown ourselves out.
- 29:00I think that's why the LGBT community is so tight too,
- 29:04right? Because if we just surround
- 29:06ourselves with everybody that agrees with us, we don't have to
- 29:08actually hear that still small voice that I believe everyone
- 29:12hears. There's no one that was not
- 29:14created by God. There's just not, there's no one
- 29:16that's not created. And so his, his voice resounds.
- 29:19They may not know whose it is. They may not know what's going
- 29:22on, but there's something because he loves them because he
- 29:25loves them and love doesn't give up.
- 29:28It's not going to give up. And so we drown it out, whether
- 29:31it's alcohol, whether it's drugs, whether it's just
- 29:33surround myself with everybody that just agrees.
- 29:35But deep down, and and I'll speak from my own experience,
- 29:38deep down inside, no matter how how much I did all of that,
- 29:41which I've done that voice when I lay in bed at night, I
- 29:46couldn't, couldn't stop. And it wasn't condemning me.
- 29:49It was calling me. It was beckoning me, but I just
- 29:51didn't want to listen. I didn't want to give up.
- 29:54And it was fear. You nailed it.
- 29:56It was fear. What's my life going to be like?
- 29:58I don't want to be Mother Teresa.
- 30:00I don't want to be this single person.
- 30:02She is great. But like, you know, when you're
- 30:0619 and even now I'm like, you know, and so in that, but, but I
- 30:09think that's The thing is like fear.
- 30:12But the Scripture says that perfect love casts out fear.
- 30:15See, so I think part of what we're missing here is people
- 30:19experiencing God's perfect love. It says that that's what casts
- 30:23out fear. So fear of right, if I'm not in
- 30:26control, what's going to happen? Well, guess what?
- 30:28If you love the person you're surrendering to and you trust
- 30:31them, fear goes you trust them. Our next sponsor is Public

- 31:04people in my life over the years and some of them I've tried, you
- 31:07know, who've been involved in LGBT stuff or whatever.
- 31:10And one in particular I'm thinking of, you know, we, we've
- 31:12had these conversations about it and I tried, you know, to be
- 31:16like that loving, accepting friend that's not accepting
- 31:20necessarily of these choices they're making.
- 31:23But I discovered that at certain point there was kind of a
- 31:26doubling down with my friends. And at a certain point, it's
- 31:29like they didn't even want to engage anymore because it's like
- 31:33they're like, you can go talk to this other person if you want
- 31:35to, but I don't really want to just talk about this.
- 31:38And it's like, well, can I improve how I talk about it and,
- 31:40you know, change this? But at the end of the day, it
- 31:42was just like, I don't want to hear it anymore.
- 31:45What's been your experience? Have you come across that?
- 31:48What do you do if you come across that, especially for
- 31:50people listening? I mean, maybe you just love and
- 31:53pray and there's not much much you can do beyond that.
- 31:56I think a lot of times when, and you know, I can't speak for
- 31:58everyone, but what in my experience, when somebody is
- 32:01just kind of done, I feel like sometimes they just feel
- 32:04threatened, the very thing that they're holding on to and is
- 32:08precious to them and maybe defining them you're trying to
- 32:10take away. And so that's why for me, I feel
- 32:13like it's instead of like, Hey, I want to, I want to take this
- 32:16from you. I'm like, Hey, this is what I've
- 32:18experienced. And then like through their own.
- 32:21That's why I really try to stick with sharing my testimony,
- 32:24right, Not preaching at you, but like, Hey, here's what's
- 32:27happened with me and continuing to happen.
- 32:29And so and then some people, I mean, I have a family member
- 32:32that said until you stop sharing and spreading lies and hatred, I
- 32:38never want to hear from you. And this is this was a cousin of
- 32:40mine that I was actually the closest with growing.
- 32:42Recently. Oh yeah, wow.
- 32:44And said never. That's kind of what happened to
- 32:46me to some degree, because they're saying by you speaking
- 32:48out against the LGBT identity, you're attacking me.
- 32:53And I'm like, well, I love you. I'm not intending to attack you.
- 32:55And but it doesn't matter because this is what you're
- 32:57saying on social media. You know anything critical is an
- 33:00attack. Anything that's not in line with
- 33:03what they're living and if you're not supporting it and in
- 33:06any way speaking against it and and I could understand that and
- 33:09I I'm going to choose to honor what she's asking.
- 33:12And that was so hard to send a reply back to my cousin who I do
- 33:16love. She may not believe that, but I
- 33:18do love her. I mean, she was my best friend
- 33:21growing up when we were little, all of that.
- 33:22And so for me, I, I pray knew we were just doing an intercession
- 33:28set at International House of Prayer the other night and I was
- 33:30on my face crying for her. Like, Lord, just just show her
- 33:36how much you love her, you know, because I think she's just
- 33:38completely distanced herself from God.
- 33:40And you know, because God means I've got to change.
- 33:44If I'm with God, God means he doesn't like me the way I am.
- 33:47If I'm with this God you're talking about, right.
- 33:49And so it's, it's threat after threat after threat.
- 33:51And so I just was praying and I'm like, Lord, and it doesn't
- 33:54have to be me. But can you show up in her life
- 33:58like through someone else, that someone that she's willing to
- 34:01hear it from? Not so that she won't be gay.
- 34:04It's not about this. It's that she'll encounter the
- 34:06one that she was created for, that she will actually like.
- 34:09The scriptures say it like return to your first love.
- 34:13He is our first love. But so many of us don't know
- 34:15that. We haven't experienced that.
- 34:17And and so to me, I think you get to a place when someone cuts
- 34:20you out, you honor it and you pray.
- 34:23Nobody can ever stop you from praying.
- 34:25You don't need to voice memo them all your prayers like trust
- 34:29God. Don't do that, actually.
- 34:30Don't do that if. They're asking for first space.
- 34:33Yeah, just honor that, you know, and and think about your own
- 34:36situation, like if somebody came to you and was like, hey, you're
- 34:38not supposed to be married, you know, like the person that you
- 34:42love and have want a family with or have a family with, you're
- 34:45not supposed to love them. And so like they voice memo you
- 34:47all the time about how you'd be like, just please stop, Please
- 34:51stop. Or maybe you'd freak out on him.
- 34:53I probably would, you know. And so we just have to honor
- 34:56where people are AT and then just really trust that God's
- 34:59going to do what he's going to do.
- 35:00And you just pray and like Lord, and it's not.
- 35:03I think that's where we get to is we always want to draw
- 35:06someone out of something. But I just wonder if we actually
- 35:09just maybe more shared what you could be drawn into.
- 35:13They'll walk out of something. Does that make sense?
- 35:16Like if something's more appealing and, and we can't do
- 35:19that, it's Holy Spirit that convicts.
- 35:21We're not meant to convict people.
- 35:22We are meant to share truth. We are not meant to back down.
- 35:26So I'm not saying just, oh, whatever you do, but be honest.
- 35:29But when they say stop, just stop.
- 35:32You said something really interesting earlier, which is,
- 35:34you know, they have to see something better, You have to
- 35:36show something better. And the only way to ultimately
- 35:39authentically show something better is to be receiving it
- 35:41yourself from God. Amen.
- 35:43You can't give what? You don't have of it yourself.
- 35:46And that takes a tremendous amount of trust and surrender.
- 35:49Because what you also said earlier, which I thought was
- 35:51such a such a great point, is like, there's a fear of holiness
- 35:55as we might perceive it, like the Mother Teresa, Holiness the
- 35:58martyr. Holy.
- 35:59Yeah. I was reading about, I know I
- 36:01was reading about the the Uma family from Poland.
- 36:04I don't know if you saw this come out a few days ago, but
- 36:06this whole family, you know, including the children murdered
- 36:09by the Nazis for housing Jews, this Catholic family in Poland,
- 36:13and now they're all being beatified, including the unborn
- 36:15baby who was killed. So it's like an incredibly
- 36:17powerful story, but it's also like, would I have the courage,
- 36:20would I have the courage to endanger my family to house
- 36:23those that are being attacked, endangering the lives of my own,
- 36:27but they are being beatified for it was like, do I even have the
- 36:29courage to even get close to that kind of that kind of love?
- 36:33And for what reason? And for what reason?
- 36:35See, because just to die, to die, not to die for the one who
- 36:39died for you, who you've experienced and encountered his
- 36:42love and you'll do anything. Think about your own husband.
- 36:46When you've received love, the instant is to give it back like
- 36:50a pure love, right? And so even for me, I'm like,
- 36:54that's why I'm like, I don't want to be a Mother Teresa.
- 36:57I've got to work for this guy, this guy being God, right?
- 37:00Like now I'm going to put on this clothes the same thing
- 37:03every day and just work for him every day.
- 37:05Like, Nah, I'm good, right? And so, and I was raised in the
- 37:08church. Imagine those who weren't how
- 37:10they, you know, the perception of God.
- 37:12And it's no new thing that Satan's doing.
- 37:14He did it in the garden. He's doing it now, right?
- 37:16Just twist the goodness of God. Just make him look like he's not
- 37:19good so that people won't be with him.
- 37:22And so it's the same same schemes he's doing now.
- 37:25And so to me, it's like, gosh, we have so much fear to let go
- 37:29because we don't know the one who's asking us to hand it over.
- 37:32We don't really know him. And I know I talk a lot about
- 37:34that, but it's like foundational.
- 37:36It really is. It's relationship.
- 37:39It's relationship. It's not a dead just set of
- 37:42rules. It's relational.
- 37:44And so if all they know is rules and I'm not allowed to be gay or
- 37:46I'm not allowed to do this or I'm not allowed to do that,
- 37:49that's why I said just hold before them.
- 37:50Beauty. I remember even with my mom when
- 37:53I was trying to help her eat healthy, right?
- 37:55She's like, no, you're not going to take the brownies from me.
- 37:56I'm like, no, no, mom, I'm not trying to take anything.
- 37:58Look what I have for you. And I gave her something else
- 38:02and she's like, whoa, that's good.
- 38:04Guess what? She was full.
- 38:05So she didn't eat the other thing.
- 38:06And then she wanted more of that.
- 38:07And so I think it's really, instead of just taking something
- 38:11from someone holding before them what God is offering.
- 38:15How can we help people encounter the sweetness of God?
- 38:18Be it, I mean be it, right, he says.
- 38:23Taste and see that I am good. How can we be the sweetness of
- 38:26God? Get with him, get with him, be
- 38:28in his presence. You learn the heart of God.
- 38:32Let's not, and I'm not saying now all the rules go out the
- 38:34window, but learn the heartbeat before you learn the words.
- 38:38Learn his heartbeat. Rest on his chest, John the
- 38:41Beloved, right? He rested on Jesus chest not
- 38:45because he was homosexual. No, there was an intimacy there.
- 38:48There was a closeness there. He heard the beat of his heart
- 38:52and then he could be the beat of his heart.
- 38:55He was not arrogant. He didn't say I'm the beloved.
- 38:57He knew he was loved. We have to know that we are
- 39:00loved to be able to tell people how loved they are.
- 39:03But there's something that's required for what you're saying
- 39:06that it's a very basic thing. It's what you did on that day in
- 39:08October of 2014, which is that you let him in.
- 39:13You gave him, you gave him a minute, a moment, because if
- 39:16we're so noisy and so distracted and so busy and so we're, we're
- 39:20running basically, but, and that's, that's prayer.
- 39:23That's prayer. People think about prayer.
- 39:24OK, I'm going to sit down and have this like big formal prayer
- 39:26moment. It's like no prayer can be a
- 39:28moment in the car, your worst breakdown saying God, if you're
- 39:31out there, hear me, be with me now, or it can be anywhere.
- 39:34Whatever you're doing in your life, you know, it can be as you
- 39:36fall asleep. But prayer is that moment of
- 39:38yes, God, I'm here, I am. Yeah, and being real.
- 39:42Being real. See, that prayer that I prayed
- 39:44was real. God, I I can't give up what I'm
- 39:49doing unless you show me something better.
- 39:51See. But I think in order to do that,
- 39:53we have to be willing. I saw what my idols were to
- 39:55whatever degree I could. And I said these things are not
- 39:59really working anymore, but they're better than nothing.
- 40:01So can you show me that you're better?
- 40:03And so I think whatever we're at, it's this is not just LGBTQ,
- 40:07right? There's idols within marriage,
- 40:09Christian heterosexual marriage. And within ministry, within
- 40:12ministry, because your idol can be your ministry, absolutely it
- 40:15can your idol can be something very good a job usually even
- 40:19your own kids. Look at Abraham and Isaac.
- 40:22We just talked to a parent last week and she was a train wreck.
- 40:27And I mean that with a heart that hurts for her because her
- 40:31son came out and he said, mom, I'm I'm gay.
- 40:34Her rock solid faith crumbled. She didn't even want to pray.
- 40:39She said she was staring at the wall.
- 40:41She would come home and just stare at the wall.
- 40:43She said, I I don't even want to do my devotional.
- 40:44I don't want anything. And actually it was a friend of
- 40:47mine that was like, it might sound like God's revealing an
- 40:50idol in your life, the very Son he blessed you with.
- 40:54You've lifted above God if you can't even pray for him.
- 40:56And that was not in condemnation or shame, but I just think we've
- 41:01like when I'm in Ethiopia, I see radical faith because they don't
- 41:04have anything else, right? When you don't know where your
- 41:07next meal is coming from, you don't have a 4O1K to dip into,
- 41:12you don't have an insurance plan, and your kid just hurt
- 41:15themselves or is coughed for a month, right?
- 41:17Like you rely on God. I think there's so many things
- 41:21we rely on and we thank God for it, right?
- 41:24We're like, thank you God for this, thank you God for that.
- 41:26Amen to that. But I'm talking like October
- 41:2917th, 2014. I needed God.
- 41:31I didn't just want him, I needed him.
- 41:34Everything I had gone to was breaking right If they call it
- 41:37rock bottom, whatever it be. So like are we at the bottom of
- 41:41ourselves yet? And, and I say that I'm still
- 41:44discovering the bottom of myself.
- 41:46I I need Jesus just as much as I did on October 17th, 2014.
- 41:50I need him just as much today to not become self-righteous,
- 41:54arrogant, prideful, thinking I know better, thinking that my
- 41:58story is everybody's story. Me, me, me right, pride, the
- 42:02beginning of the fall. And so in that, like, are we
- 42:05desperate for him or have we allowed these things to kind of
- 42:09just comatose, right? We're just kind of going along
- 42:12and we pray the prayers and and the prayers are good, but I'm
- 42:15talking about a real need for him.
- 42:18And I know that I need him because I, you know, people will
- 42:21ask. So like, you know, Paul and his
- 42:22affliction, you know, take this from me, God.
- 42:25And what was God's response? My grace is sufficient.
- 42:29Do we count on God? See, I don't date women anymore,
- 42:33not because I'm, I would go to hell, right?
- 42:35If I continue to, it's not out of the fear of hell.
- 42:38Hell is real. But I'm not dating women because
- 42:40I've experienced the love that's greater and I've experienced the
- 42:43strength from him, not from myself.
- 42:46I tried to do it in my own strength before.
- 42:49So like when we realize, my goodness, everything I need help
- 42:52with is found in him, he's going to become the source.
- 42:56And so we could go on for a long time about that and I'll stop
- 42:59there, but I just don't know how desperate we are anymore.
- 43:02It's so, so beautifully, said Kim.
- 43:05And that and it's a reminder for me and it's like anybody can do
- 43:09it. That moment of rawness.
- 43:10If you're struggling to pray, you're struggling with anything.
- 43:12I'm just saying here I am. Lord help me Jesus, I trust in
- 43:16you. Jesus help.
- 43:18Me. I mean, I can't do it I.
- 43:20Can't do it, Jesus. And you just.
- 43:21Oh, and then it's amazing how life changes now.
- 43:25It doesn't look or feel the way that maybe we think it's going
- 43:29to look or feel, but it leads ultimately to the peace that
- 43:32only can only come from God. It's like peace that brings that
- 43:36It can bring joy, the real joy. Absolutely.
- 43:39And I think that's where also, like you said, how do we bring
- 43:43Jesus? Are we miserable?
- 43:46Right? Because like if your life is
- 43:47miserable, I probably don't want what you have when you live a
- 43:51life of joy now, joy even in suffering, joy even in pain in
- 43:55trial, I'm talking about your joy is, and this is something
- 43:58I'm praying for. I'm like God, that scripture
- 44:01that says the joy is in my salvation, that's not on this
- 44:05earth right here. So may my joy be rooted in
- 44:09eternity with you. That's the martyr's joy, which
- 44:12is so. And I'm praying for it.
- 44:13I don't have it. Yeah, but.
- 44:15But ask him, he says. Ask.
- 44:17You'll receive seek. You'll find.
- 44:19He doesn't make it hard. But Satan just gets in there.
- 44:22And God doesn't really want to do that.
- 44:24God's not for you. He's against you.
- 44:26It's twisting of Scripture. So tell me about Rainbow
- 44:29Revival. Yeah, you are doing this very
- 44:33special thing with Freedom Marches.
- 44:35You've done one in Lai. Think there's going to be 1 in
- 44:37Dallas soon? October 21st.
- 44:39What is Rainbow Revival? What is this movement that's
- 44:43really growing? It's growing.
- 44:45Yeah. The Lord.
- 44:47It is a group of people, myself being one of them, that have
- 44:51come out of the LGBT community and into a surrendered life in
- 44:56Christ. This is not out of the LGBT
- 44:58community to be mad at people or tell people they're wrong.
- 45:02It's a radical, laid down life for the Lord and it looks
- 45:05different. Some have gotten married right
- 45:07into heterosexual marriages and have children.
- 45:10Some of us feel a call to singleness for the sake of the
- 45:13Kingdom, but we go around and we, we just intercede as a
- 45:18board. We intercede and say, God, where
- 45:20do you want to go? Where do you want us to go and
- 45:23share? You know, you, you know very
- 45:25well pro-life marches, pro-life, you know, rallies and things
- 45:30like that. I'm like, my goodness, the
- 45:32founder was a dear friend of mine.
- 45:34She was like, and, and some other people were talking one
- 45:38day and the Lord just said, like, my goodness, people March
- 45:41for everything. Can you March for the freedom
- 45:43that I've given you and continue to show you, you know, this is a
- 45:46this is not a one and done. This is a continued journey with
- 45:49the Lord, right? It's a relationship.
- 45:51And so it's constantly going. So we go into different cities
- 45:54as the Lord leads us. We do praise and worship.
- 45:57We do testimonies woven in of all different stories.
- 46:00I mean radical, I mean people who were literally some have
- 46:04gone through the surgeries, through trans, you know,
- 46:07transitioning, transitioning surgeries and then detransition.
- 46:10Some did not even fully detransition, but they are heart
- 46:15has been like seared and then slowly but surely the exterior
- 46:19stuff changes. But God's concerned about the
- 46:20heart. So we have testimonies beyond
- 46:23that. You're literally, my mom went to
- 46:25one of the events and she's like, it is still one of the
- 46:27most profound experiences that I've had hearing these radical
- 46:32testimonies and seeing people literally like she, she
- 46:35described it is like seeing people like David dance before
- 46:38the Tabernacle just unfiltered, like unto the Lord, like have
- 46:42really encountered love. And so, yeah, we'll go in and we
- 46:45we share testimony, we worship, we have prayer tents set up that
- 46:49if people want to just connect, be prayed with, it's not about
- 46:53Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
- 46:56It's not a negative message. It's true, it's real.
- 46:59The word of God says that testimony is prophecy into
- 47:03someone else's life. And so it's free to March FM
- 47:07standing for like hear this like a dial on the radio FM AM.
- 47:12And so the kind of slogan for freedom March is hear the sound
- 47:15of freedom. And so just as testimony goes
- 47:18forth, as worship and praise goes forth, we've had, I've, I,
- 47:21we could do a whole podcast on just the stories of how people
- 47:24have drawn in. So we go to the public square.
- 47:27So we'll go in Dallas, we're going to be at Clyde Warren
- 47:29Park. We rent out the whole park.
- 47:30It's free for whoever wants to come.
- 47:32And we just have, it's a, it's a Jesus festival kind of thing,
- 47:37kind of like what happened with the Jesus revolution and with
- 47:41the hippies. We're starting to see that
- 47:43there's a prophetic word that has been, it was prophesied
- 47:47many, many years ago that there would be 100,000 plus coming out
- 47:51of the LGBT community into Christ.
- 47:54Not just out of, but into that they will be evangelists,
- 47:57preachers, teachers and so. Are you seeing that now?
- 48:00Absolutely. Well, we're seeing the first
- 48:02fruits of that in a, in a big way I I've seen before and it's
- 48:07beautiful. Like those who have gone before
- 48:09us and those who will come after us, right.
- 48:10It's not about 1 person about Jesus, the one person, but what
- 48:13he's doing. But I absolutely believe that we
- 48:16will see something like we have never seen.
- 48:18I believe that there are so many sons and daughters in the LGBT
- 48:22community that are going to radically, radically testify to
- 48:28the goodness of Jesus Christ, and they will be a big part of
- 48:30this huge, I believe, revival that is coming.
- 48:34So one of the things I've noticed about Rainbow Revival,
- 48:37well, it's easy to notice. It's called Rainbow Revival.
- 48:40And, you know, there's this very colorful, beautiful
- 48:43presentation. I mean, I think that's one of
- 48:46the maybe attractions of the way LGBTQ is branded today is that
- 48:50it's branded in rainbows and so much positivity and so much
- 48:53light. And, you know, now if you go to
- 48:55a, you know, a Pride parade, you're going to see some dark
- 48:58stuff, too. It's not like it's all that.
- 49:00But typically in media, that's how it's very inviting.
- 49:02Very inviting. Yeah.
- 49:03So what is? What are the differences?
- 49:06Yeah, so Rainbow. Between, you know, a a Freedom
- 49:08March and a Pride parade. Yeah, so rainbow revival, we do
- 49:11use the rainbow. We use the seven colored
- 49:14rainbow, not six. So the LGBT community will use
- 49:17six colors and we won't unpack all that, but we can kind of see
- 49:20what 6 sometimes symbolizes right in Scripture.
- 49:23So we what? Color was taken out I.
- 49:25Think it was indigo. I think it was indigo.
- 49:28And so we do joyfully and humbly, not pridefully, wave the
- 49:35flag, the seven colored flag, because it is.
- 49:37And that's actually our slogan of rainbow revival is Remember
- 49:40the Promise, because that ties to Genesis when when God
- 49:44stretched the bow across the sky and said, I will never flood the
- 49:46earth again. It was his covenant between his
- 49:49people, right? And we are his people because of
- 49:51what Jesus has done. We've been grafted in.
- 49:53And so in that it's remember the promise, prepare the way.
- 49:56And so the prepare the way is for the second coming of Christ.
- 49:59And people would be like, oh, you know, you've Jesus people.
- 50:02You think he's coming back, He's coming back and he's coming back
- 50:05for a bride. Are we ready?
- 50:07Are we love sick? Are we wanting him?
- 50:09Are we longing our hearts longing for the lover of our
- 50:13soul? And so Rainbow Revival, we stand
- 50:16in humility and we take pride in what Christ has done, but we are
- 50:20humbled because it wasn't in our doing.
- 50:23It's in our surrender to his love that is actually re
- 50:27rebirthed who we are, right? And so we stand and we want to
- 50:32invite others to that just to just to listen.
- 50:34Doesn't mean you have to do it. And I think that's thing you
- 50:36asked me earlier, like, do you get a lot of good kickback?
- 50:38Or do you know, people kind of tell you to be quiet?
- 50:41I just share my story if you want to listen.
- 50:43Amen. If you don't, there's like 1000
- 50:45other channels you can listen to.
- 50:47Nobody's forcing you to listen to this, right?
- 50:50And so in that, that's how we stand as Rainbow Revival.
- 50:52We're not going to go into your space and now start preaching.
- 50:55No, we're going to rent out. We're going to pay more money
- 50:59than we have. It's a nonprofit and we don't
- 51:01have money. None of us get paid, but we
- 51:03raise the money and we rent it out and whoever wants to come, I
- 51:07mean, we open it up. We don't hide what we're doing
- 51:10when we're doing it and so. Do you go to pride parades?
- 51:13Is that or have a booth or something just to raise
- 51:15awareness? Yeah, we might end up doing that
- 51:18because the same thing where people can come right and be
- 51:20prayed with and just be loved on, right.
- 51:22And and to see that from a Christian standpoint, I think is
- 51:26not sometimes as common. I personally haven't gone.
- 51:29I'm not opposed to it, but I want to be led to that too.
- 51:32I know a lot of my friends, one of the the founders, MJ Nixon,
- 51:36she used to go to the pride festivals and just pray for
- 51:39people, ask the Lord for prophetic words and and just to
- 51:42love on people with the love of Christ and always point back at
- 51:45him, right. So that it's seed.
- 51:47See, I think so many time we don't want it.
- 51:49We don't want to just throw seed.
- 51:51We want to see the fruit. We're like, no, we got it.
- 51:53If this has to happen right now, but we are we are meant to throw
- 51:56seed and and God grows it. And I think it's one of the
- 51:59scriptures, like some sow seeds, some get to water, and some get
- 52:02to see the harvest. Get to harvest, which is a cool
- 52:05job, but they're all they're all necessary.
- 52:07All necessary. What you said earlier was so
- 52:09interesting about just the like this.
- 52:11So it's like overt spiritual symbolism at play here.
- 52:15Even just between Rainbow Revival and the Pride movement.
- 52:19You know, you mentioned the flag on the Pride movement.
- 52:22They've removed one of the seven colors, so there's only 6 and
- 52:26the connotation of the number six.
- 52:28And then Rainbow Revival has the full flag.
- 52:31And being the fall of man. And six, being the fall of man
- 52:34and the flag represents God's promise to not destroy the world
- 52:37for its sin. And then, you know, the flood,
- 52:40Noah's flood. And then in addition, the word
- 52:42pride, you know, pride, the seven deadly sins.
- 52:45And pride cometh before the fall.
- 52:47But your messages have pride in the glory of God, not in your
- 52:51own. What do you think about all of
- 52:54that? Even obvious symbolism I feel I
- 52:57mean. Well, I we're in a spiritual
- 53:02battle and whether we want to admit it or not, it's like you
- 53:06can stand in the middle of a tornado and be like, I'm not in
- 53:08a tornado. You are, you know, and you're
- 53:11going to unfortunately find out about.
- 53:12To hit your head. Exactly.
- 53:14Like there goes the cow, you know what I mean?
- 53:15Like, so to me, we are in a spiritual battle.
- 53:19I know many people don't believe that.
- 53:21And I'm like, just look around, OK, Just look around at what's
- 53:24happening in the world. We are.
- 53:25And so to me, it just shows. And, and that's where I think we
- 53:28have to be careful because a lot of times we will now point the
- 53:32finger at the person and forget that what Scripture says, that
- 53:35this is a battle not between flesh and blood, but between
- 53:39spirit and principality, right? And so we have to remember the
- 53:43enemy is not the person in front of us.
- 53:45The person might be operating in the enemy, the work of the
- 53:49enemy, but they're not our enemy.
- 53:52That person was still created by God and God wants them.
- 53:55Whether or not they're going to give their life to God is is not
- 53:58my job. But did I display the goodness
- 54:00of God, how much he wants them to turn from our ways to trust
- 54:04God? Right.
- 54:05And so in that I do I see the parallels for sure, you know,
- 54:09and we didn't create the seven colored flag.
- 54:12So it's like this was already in existence.
- 54:14We just well, that's the flag we're.
- 54:16Going to win, yeah. You know what I mean?
- 54:18Like, you can't, you can't deny that.
- 54:19And so for me, I think it's a great opportunity, though, where
- 54:23people are like some people within the LGBT community, they
- 54:25don't even know like, whoa, I thought there was always six
- 54:28colors in the rainbow. No, such a great conversation
- 54:32piece. We need to start talking more.
- 54:33That's like earlier in the interview I said, I love having
- 54:36conversations with people that we do.
- 54:38We are on the same page, but I really love those conversations
- 54:41where we're not so that hopefully we can both ask God to
- 54:46help us humble ourselves and just to learn because I'm
- 54:49telling you, the church, we can learn from the LGBT community.
- 54:53And some people freak out. They're like, I'm shutting you
- 54:54off right now. I'm like, hold on, hold on.
- 54:56They know how to do community. They know how to welcome people,
- 55:00right, come as you are. And we know Jesus says that come
- 55:03as you are, he will transform us.
- 55:05His very presence will transform us.
- 55:07But do we, does the church really have the like, come as
- 55:10you are? Or is it like, hey, come as we
- 55:12need you to be, come as you need to look per what we want, you
- 55:17know, and and I Father Mike Schmidt says it right.
- 55:19I think it's in the catechism. Like God loves us so much,
- 55:23they'll meet us where where we're at, but he loves us too
- 55:26much to keep us there, right? And so there's a lot though.
- 55:31There is a massive spiritual war going on.
- 55:33There always has been. And I believe it's going to get
- 55:35heavier and hotter and we can see it.
- 55:39I think this is where the banner of love needs to fly.
- 55:42And love. Love is not love.
- 55:44God is love. God is love.
- 55:46And the love of God, the banner of love In Scripture, it says
- 55:50that his banner over us is love. Are we waving that banner?
- 55:55And so that's what we do at Rainbow Revival.
- 55:57That's what I pray I do every day.
- 55:58Whether. Do you have that slogan God is
- 56:00Love? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:01Perfect. Yeah, I'm not really into the
- 56:04social media thing, but a lot of people, you know, tag love is
- 56:06love. I'm like, I never said if
- 56:08somebody said like, what's the color red?
- 56:09And I'm like, red is red, they'd be like, that doesn't make again
- 56:12logic, right? So I would never put a bumper
- 56:15sticker on my car that says cat is cat, right?
- 56:17But a lot of people. Woman is not woman today.
- 56:20That's what I. Mean like well when we remove
- 56:22logic. Right, right there was, I was
- 56:24asked to comment on this story recently and I was like, it was
- 56:27just overwhelmingly dark, but I wanted to share it because it's
- 56:30connected to all of this. But there is this man who was
- 56:33identifying as a woman, trans woman I think is the title then
- 56:37for that. But anyway, so he's trying to go
- 56:39through, he wants to have the first successful uterus change,
- 56:43he was saying, and be the first man, formerly man, now woman to
- 56:47become pregnant in order, he said.
- 56:49And this was like a viral TikTok in order to be able to have the
- 56:52first trans abortion. And you know, I remember looking
- 56:56at that and just seeing like, this is like the like this is
- 56:58where it can spiral to. And this is the kind of meeting
- 57:02of the logical conclusion of like abortion culture with sort
- 57:05of sex, sexuality, confusion and identity culture like marry,
- 57:09marry together in this, you know, horrible harmony.
- 57:13Do you when you see stuff like that or you encounter it?
- 57:16And again, like anything could go viral on social media, like
- 57:18the darkest stuff, right? But what it, what, how do you,
- 57:21what's your kind of take on that when you see that?
- 57:24Even when you just first said that, my heart just hurt.
- 57:27It is just dead. I'm like, what happened?
- 57:30What happened? Like to even want that?
- 57:33Who didn't see him? And again, I'm not minimizing
- 57:35evil, but like the reality for that person.
- 57:38Right, because he had a real, I think he, from what I saw, had
- 57:41this extreme hatred and and anger towards people that he
- 57:45perceived as judging him. So he was going to get this
- 57:50abortion out of. Spite to prove.
- 57:52To the people that he saw as judging him.
- 57:54Yeah, so I think there's a lot and I don't know, I don't know
- 57:57this person, but the first thing I, I felt was hurt for him.
- 58:02Like what happened? I mean, think about Hitler when
- 58:05we look at the back story. I don't know if you watch the
- 58:06Ray Charles me, there's so much when you watch the back story of
- 58:09someone's life, you see where evil entered in.
- 58:11I mean, nefarious, that movie that came out, that guy that was
- 58:15possessed. I don't know if you saw that,
- 58:16but my goodness, watching that and seeing like we want to get
- 58:20mad at the person when you're like, no, in Jesus name, that
- 58:23spirit needs to go. They were once a child and they
- 58:27were once a child that probably was really hurt.
- 58:29Absolutely. And they grew up to keep
- 58:31hurting, and then they started hurting other people.
- 58:33Hurt people, hurt people. Healed people heal people.
- 58:36All right, so we got questions on YouTube and I wanted to share
- 58:40them because I promised people I would.
- 58:41So let's do a couple people are really excited to be able to ask
- 58:45you, so I'm going to start for a few.
- 58:47This is one that just said, how do you respond to?
- 58:50We kind of touched on this, but we'll just do it more directly.
- 58:53How do you respond to children and teenagers who identify as
- 58:56part of the LGBT TQ Plus community without severing the
- 59:00all important trust that children should have in their
- 59:02parents? So this is particularly younger
- 59:03kids. I think they're asking about
- 59:05what do I do if my kid comes home from school and he's he or
- 59:08she is identifying that way. Yeah, I think when it comes to
- 59:11little kids, remembering your role as a parent, like if my I
- 59:16don't have children, but like if my nephew came home and he's
- 59:19like, so tonight I'm going to eat Snickers, I'd be like, no,
- 59:22you're not actually. And do you know why?
- 59:25And I want to tell you why, right?
- 59:27And so I think sometimes we're so easy to lay rules down, but
- 59:30there's not like little people, all people, we all want to know.
- 59:34And so to actually just have conversation or ask questions
- 59:37before you even lay something down, like, hey, you know what?
- 59:41What makes you feel like you are attracted the opposite sex?
- 59:44Like when did this start for you?
- 59:46Explore. Explore and just listen.
- 59:49Just listen, right? We OK, but I know the answer.
- 59:52I understand. But do you want to tell them the
- 59:54answer or do you want that answer to actually come up
- 59:57within them? And that's when it becomes real,
- 1:00:00right? That's when it's going to become
- 1:00:02real is when someone realizes it for themselves.
- 1:00:04Oh my gosh, I actually feel this way because the little kid told
- 1:00:08me that I was gay. And then I didn't know because I
- 1:00:12don't really like girls right now.
- 1:00:13That's OK. You're 8.
- 1:00:15You shouldn't, you know what I mean or whatever.
- 1:00:17Not you shouldn't, but you know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:18Like just explore with them, talk to him, listen, ask
- 1:00:22questions. What did Jesus do?
- 1:00:23He asked a lot of questions. Self revelation comes in.
- 1:00:27I don't mean. Even though he knew all the
- 1:00:28answers, he knew every answer, but he was doing it for the sake
- 1:00:30of the person, which is exactly what you're saying.
- 1:00:32They need to go through the process of understanding
- 1:00:35themselves. Yeah.
- 1:00:36And and somebody could take that and just, oh, so they're going
- 1:00:38to do whatever. No, but it's a process.
- 1:00:40I mean, if if my mom would have maybe done that with me, like,
- 1:00:44hey, why do you feel that way? Not just come quickly with an
- 1:00:47answer. You know what, I'm not blaming
- 1:00:49her anything, but we're all learning, right?
- 1:00:50But I don't think we let, I don't think we walk with people
- 1:00:53enough, even our own little people that go.
- 1:00:55Well, it can be scary, I think for a parent and for anyone just
- 1:00:58as like, where's this walk going to take me?
- 1:01:00And what if I'm unprepared? And that's the thing.
- 1:01:02It's like even if you don't know what to say with the information
- 1:01:06you're given, you can. It's an ongoing relationship.
- 1:01:09Pray, talk to a counselor, talk to the guidance, but you know,
- 1:01:11have the courage to dive. In absolutely and stay in right
- 1:01:15and not just want a quick fix and then also as they're
- 1:01:18struggling with that. That's a great time.
- 1:01:20Like, Hey, do you think God says that about you like bring Jesus
- 1:01:24into this, you know, when he met so and so in the Bible, like how
- 1:01:28do you think that person felt, you know, and, and make him real
- 1:01:32for the person you're raising up, right?
- 1:01:34Like the I the chosen, I know people have different things,
- 1:01:37but that kind of reveals the realness of Jesus that he felt
- 1:01:41he, you know, and so I think as you're you're asking these
- 1:01:45questions, you can gently bring Jesus into it, but not right
- 1:01:49away, not to, you know, put him on defense, but just this
- 1:01:52incorporating and pray ask Holy Spirit, how do I walk through
- 1:01:56this? I don't think we Bray enough.
- 1:01:58Like so true. Guide me, you know.
- 1:02:00So true. Here's another one and I've
- 1:02:02heard this question before. I think it was even comments on
- 1:02:04the YouTube video we did before, but the podcast we did before.
- 1:02:07But what do you think causes homosexual desires to originate?
- 1:02:12Does it stem from inherent proclivities towards certain
- 1:02:14types of sin due to fall familiar issues, abuse, other
- 1:02:17factors? There's actually several other
- 1:02:19at least another two questions about abuse.
- 1:02:22You know, I, my personal experience, you know, with
- 1:02:25friends who have not so much I think lesbian, but more
- 1:02:27homosexual gay men. The thing that's been common
- 1:02:32that I know from several in you know, my life or kind of 1
- 1:02:36connection to my life is child sexual abuse and trauma.
- 1:02:40Not saying that's every person with same sex attraction, but it
- 1:02:42seems to be a very prevalent theme.
- 1:02:44What's your take on that? So I've seen very similar right?
- 1:02:49In my personal experience, I didn't have any sexual abuse at
- 1:02:53all. I think it is very different.
- 1:02:56I think wounds kind of, they happen from different things and
- 1:03:01then they ooze differently, you know?
- 1:03:03And so for me, I know many people who have had sexual
- 1:03:07abuse, right? And that kind of led them either
- 1:03:11towards that. Like a gentleman was abused when
- 1:03:14he was young by a male. That was his first sexual
- 1:03:17experience, though he knew it was wrong.
- 1:03:20Just instinctively, not even raised in church, just knew it
- 1:03:23wasn't right. That was his first experience.
- 1:03:27So that's kind of where naturally kind of his body
- 1:03:29started to take him because that's when he experienced that.
- 1:03:32Then some go the other opposite way.
- 1:03:35And there's, there's so many different things.
- 1:03:36But I think also the realness of what's happened in your
- 1:03:40childhood. It doesn't always look like
- 1:03:42sexual abuse. It could be, man, my mom put me
- 1:03:46in daycare because she had to work, you know?
- 1:03:49And so this young girl, this little girl growing up didn't
- 1:03:52have a lot of mom time, didn't have a lot of the nurture that
- 1:03:56was needed that we actually created for.
- 1:03:58And so was long. And that's more my story.
- 1:04:01Like my mom didn't go to work, but just on the emotional level
- 1:04:05from her own mom. She didn't know how to give
- 1:04:07that. And so she could only give what
- 1:04:08we receive, right? And so I know I was always a
- 1:04:12longing for like, and it was always older women for me, which
- 1:04:14is kind of interesting, kind of that mom type for her attention,
- 1:04:19but emotional attention just see me not just like correct me and
- 1:04:23this and that. So I think it can be a multitude
- 1:04:26of things. And Satan will use anything.
- 1:04:28He'll use any sort of abuse, neglect to just direct us not
- 1:04:33just towards homosexuality, but towards, you know, just
- 1:04:37anything, right? That is not God's way instead of
- 1:04:40going towards healing. So I have found in many cases,
- 1:04:44myself included, when you go back to your childhood, when you
- 1:04:48learn that God is safe and you let him kind of review your
- 1:04:52childhood and maybe some areas that we're lacking that he
- 1:04:56actually wants to go back and heal those places.
- 1:04:59I mean, and he can do that. And I've experienced that and
- 1:05:01I'm continuing to experience that.
- 1:05:03And I've seen that in a lot of my friends as well.
- 1:05:04So it's beautiful, but I don't think there's a one answer.
- 1:05:06Yeah, it's, it's going to be multiple experiences for
- 1:05:10different people. I've heard that before many
- 1:05:12times. And there's a famous
- 1:05:15psychiatrist named Joseph, Doctor Joseph Nicolosi.
- 1:05:18I don't know if you've heard of him, but yeah, but I was, you
- 1:05:20know, been reading some of his work and it's, you know, very
- 1:05:22countercultural, politically incorrect.
- 1:05:25But he has these different theories that he's seen proven
- 1:05:28out again again in his practice. Now, I think his son took it
- 1:05:30over since his passing, but that they're sort of for the he he
- 1:05:34focuses on like homosexual behavior in men, but he and
- 1:05:37attraction. But he was saying that for these
- 1:05:38a lot of these men, they, you know, have sometimes overbearing
- 1:05:42or overly emotionally involved mothers.
- 1:05:45And so the feminine is so familiar.
- 1:05:47It's almost sometimes repugnant, repugnant, like too much.
- 1:05:50But then they have these masculine figures that are more
- 1:05:52distant. And so they the thing that you
- 1:05:55can become sexually attracted to or you kind of eroticize is the
- 1:05:58thing that's mysterious to you that you're you're hungry for.
- 1:06:02And so if you read this book of your childhood, for a lot of
- 1:06:05these folks that he treats, it's like they just he discovers
- 1:06:08these common themes of these mothers way too entangled, like
- 1:06:11they never let the little boy grow.
- 1:06:13Up, yeah, kind of helicopter. Helicopter Well-intentioned I'm.
- 1:06:16Sure, Yeah, well-intentioned. I'm sure.
- 1:06:18The best thing? But then this father that is
- 1:06:20mystery, too much of A mystery to the boy, so he never can
- 1:06:23fully step into his manhood as a male and so he he's craving the
- 1:06:30masculine and it becomes eroticized.
- 1:06:32Absolutely. So what I would also say is I
- 1:06:34see this outside of homosexuality too.
- 1:06:37I see this when women are pursuing men to a place that is
- 1:06:41not how God had it right. Like we can see this in any.
- 1:06:44Because disorder sexuality figure and that's so true.
- 1:06:47That's like the common, you know, story of that young woman
- 1:06:51who's just seeking male attention desperately because
- 1:06:54she didn't get what she needed as a kid.
- 1:06:56Or got too much on this end. And not so our childhood, so
- 1:07:00many people are like, that doesn't matter.
- 1:07:02I was a kid. It matters.
- 1:07:04Our childhood matters So many of our formative years.
- 1:07:07I mean, like, I don't have a pH D, so I'm not trying to, but I'm
- 1:07:10very blessed to be around a lot of people who do.
- 1:07:13And I'm seeing it in my own life.
- 1:07:15I'm seeing it in my own life. It's not only because this is
- 1:07:18what the books say. Know when you've experienced
- 1:07:20something like I'm seeing healing in my life from kind of
- 1:07:24going back into my childhood. 11 ministry.
- 1:07:28That's so good. Is the JP 2 healing center.
- 1:07:32Yes, we had done Doctor Bob shoots.
- 1:07:34We had him on a few weeks ago. So good, so good, so true.
- 1:07:38Like I just so recommend that for anyone who's struggling, not
- 1:07:42just with homosexuality, whatever it be, don't be afraid
- 1:07:45to let God bring you back and show you some things in your
- 1:07:48childhood. And that's not to blame.
- 1:07:50That's not to give excuses to do whatever we want or to live a
- 1:07:53certain way. It's for healing.
- 1:07:55And I felt like the Lord showed me this years ago.
- 1:07:57Is Kim. I reveal to heal.
- 1:08:00He reveals to heal so. Beautiful not to hurt but to
- 1:08:03heal. Another question that we got is
- 1:08:05should I attend my son or my friend's gay wedding?
- 1:08:09Yes, that is a very common question and I think when we
- 1:08:13answer that one, you need to pray.
- 1:08:15We forget as Christians that prayer is a part of everything,
- 1:08:19right? Like I pray about what I'm going
- 1:08:21to wear. I didn't today, but usually so
- 1:08:24in that we need to come from a place of prayer.
- 1:08:26God, what are you saying in this?
- 1:08:28And so for me personally, I would not go to a same sex
- 1:08:31union. I I do not believe Jesus
- 1:08:33celebrates it. And so I can't celebrate it in
- 1:08:36the person I love either. This is The thing is this is not
- 1:08:39just that either I check yes or I check no, I show up or I
- 1:08:42don't. There needs to be conversation
- 1:08:45because whoever's inviting you to their wedding cares for you.
- 1:08:48They invited you to something that is intimate, something is
- 1:08:51special to them, right? And so I think to, to go about
- 1:08:55this relationally, if you're not going to attend, I think there
- 1:08:59needs to be some conversations like I love you.
- 1:09:02I love you. And this is hard for me because
- 1:09:06there is a part of me that wants to just support anything and
- 1:09:08everything you do. But then there's this real part
- 1:09:11of me that just can't. And it's not because I'm not
- 1:09:15allowed to, it's because I believe there's something more,
- 1:09:17whatever the Lord is doing. But we cannot veer from truth,
- 1:09:21you guys, if we just start celebrating everything.
- 1:09:24What did Jesus celebrate? He sat with sinners.
- 1:09:27He ate with sinners, absolutely, but He did not celebrate their
- 1:09:32sin. We have to remember that.
- 1:09:34So yes, we can eat with one another.
- 1:09:36We gather, we commune, we talk, but we don't celebrate.
- 1:09:40And when you go to someone's wedding, you're celebrating that
- 1:09:43you're not just having a meal with them, you're celebrating
- 1:09:46what they're doing. I mean, back in the day, right?
- 1:09:49Hey, if anybody disagrees, stand up.
- 1:09:51They don't do that anymore. Too many people be standing up.
- 1:09:53But in that like you are in agreement.
- 1:09:55You're a witness. You're a witness.
- 1:09:57So from that vantage point, there isn't there isn't a way to
- 1:10:02go to a gay wedding I I've heard in truth.
- 1:10:06I've heard some people say I go but they know I don't support
- 1:10:09him. Like, but you're going.
- 1:10:09And you're, what are you doing? Not sharing the champagne, you
- 1:10:12know, not not drinking wine and. Here's my thing.
- 1:10:14What about all the people that you're sitting at the table
- 1:10:16with? Because so some people are like,
- 1:10:18oh, I told them that I'm not in support, but I love you.
- 1:10:20So I'm going. But now when I'm sitting at the
- 1:10:22table, not with the bride and groom, right?
- 1:10:24I'm sitting amongst others and they're like, oh, so are you so
- 1:10:28happy for him? No, right, like are you going to
- 1:10:31be that brutally honest? And now you're actually, so I
- 1:10:34don't know to me if I was honest and said, Hey, I'm going to go
- 1:10:37to your wedding, but I really don't agree.
- 1:10:40And if anybody asks me, I'm going to be honest.
- 1:10:42They're going to be like, you know, why don't you just stay
- 1:10:43home, right? Like just don't go Because if
- 1:10:46I'm going to go, I'm going to go in truth, not to ruin what
- 1:10:48they're doing, but I'm not going to sit at the table and say,
- 1:10:50yes, I'm I'm so excited for them.
- 1:10:53But here's the here's the deal. If we're not going to go to a
- 1:10:56same sex union based on truth, then what are you going to do
- 1:11:00when your friend or your son who's dating his girlfriend
- 1:11:04bought a house and they have a house warming party?
- 1:11:07And they're going to go live together and they're going to
- 1:11:09live wedding. Yeah.
- 1:11:09You got to be consistent. You got it.
- 1:11:11Or you're going to take your son's girlfriend on vacation and
- 1:11:14you just give him one room. Like we got to be consistent
- 1:11:16when it comes to to sin. Yes, God is consistent and if we
- 1:11:20want to echo what God has put forth, we don't determine what
- 1:11:24sin is. We either agree or disagree with
- 1:11:26it, but he says what sin is. And so we get culturally really
- 1:11:30messed up and it's honestly hurting the LGBT community as
- 1:11:33well because they're like, wait, so I am sinning, but yet my
- 1:11:37brother who's been hooking up with his girlfriend, he's not
- 1:11:40she's not getting they're not getting the third degree like I
- 1:11:42am when I just said I was dating the same sex, right?
- 1:11:45And. That's where the phobia
- 1:11:46accusation comes. Like you are just phobic against
- 1:11:49this. Another one that I think is very
- 1:11:52controversial, and this is from especially, I think maybe it's
- 1:11:56more easy to understand in Catholic circles because the
- 1:11:58Catholic Church has very strong teachings against contraception,
- 1:12:02but. You better.
- 1:12:03You know, if you are getting married and you're like, well,
- 1:12:05I'm going to contracept as a married couple, I'm not going to
- 1:12:08have kids or I'm going to wait a long time to have kids.
- 1:12:10We're not ready. You know that's sterilized sex
- 1:12:13you're having. Well, you're playing God.
- 1:12:16It's playing God, but just to kind of compare it directly to
- 1:12:18like the LGBT stuff, like what's the big problem with
- 1:12:21homosexuality in God's eyes? It's not one man, one woman with
- 1:12:25fertility. You can't have fertility
- 1:12:26naturally. Well, if you're a heterosexual
- 1:12:29couple but you're sterilizing the sexual act, how is your
- 1:12:32sexual act different than a same sex sexual?
- 1:12:35Act exactly. And that's why we are actually
- 1:12:39self destructing because we're standing so firm in certain
- 1:12:42areas of sin and even sexual sin, but we're not in others.
- 1:12:47And we've accepted things that God never accepted and never
- 1:12:50laid forth. So if sexual sin hurts, it hurts
- 1:12:53everybody, whether it be homosexual or heterosexual sin.
- 1:12:57And there's a reality of both. So when I have parents reach out
- 1:13:00and they're like, my daughter came out as a lesbian, what do I
- 1:13:02do? I said, you have a son, like
- 1:13:04yes, but my daughter, I'm like, does your son have a girlfriend?
- 1:13:07Yes, great girl, great. You know, they try to bring it
- 1:13:10right back. I'm like, are you just as
- 1:13:12concerned about your son and his girlfriend as you are about your
- 1:13:15daughter? And if you're not, I'm concerned
- 1:13:18for you. Sexual sin is prevalent and we
- 1:13:21need to pay attention to it no matter what, in our own lives
- 1:13:24and in others. First and foremost in our own
- 1:13:26lives and the places that we are maybe sinning and justifying so.
- 1:13:32OK, so how can people learn about Forgotten Faces
- 1:13:36Unforgotten? Yeah, that's good.
- 1:13:37Not forgotten. Or not unforgotten.
- 1:13:39Thank you to Kim. Well, I don't think that's a
- 1:13:41word. That's the problem.
- 1:13:42Did. Unforgotten, I don't believe is
- 1:13:45even actually like a word. Somebody told me that I'm like,
- 1:13:47well, great, that's how you make new words.
- 1:13:48So I love. It I think it's great.
- 1:13:50How could you unforget? Well, God sees them, you see
- 1:13:53them. I love that because you, I mean,
- 1:13:54you went there at 23. You started this ministry.
- 1:13:56Yeah. We didn't even talk about it a
- 1:13:58lot. But I want people to hear a
- 1:13:59little more. And then how can they support
- 1:14:02unforgotten faces in Ethiopia? Absolutely, and we do.
- 1:14:04And what do you do? What are you doing on the ground
- 1:14:06there? Amen.
- 1:14:06So we the very call I felt was to help little kids with single
- 1:14:13moms. And so then as I went there and
- 1:14:16the Lord was just opening up more and more and showing me it
- 1:14:18also opened up to single dads and then single grandmas and
- 1:14:21single grandpas. So it's single caregivers is
- 1:14:24really where I felt the Lord was asking me to go in and help.
- 1:14:27And it's such an I know people's like it's so cliche, but we
- 1:14:31really do teach eat them out of fish.
- 1:14:32We don't want to just hand fish because if we ever have to
- 1:14:35leave, where they, how are they going to live?
- 1:14:37And so we're all about self sustainability within the
- 1:14:40family. So we take care of the little
- 1:14:42kids of the single caregiver while we're working with the
- 1:14:45single parent on what do you like to do?
- 1:14:48What do you gifted at? Can we help you find a lane that
- 1:14:51you can actually run in like God has gifted you, right?
- 1:14:55And so we walk beside the parent while we're doing that.
- 1:14:57We take care of food, education and health care for their child
- 1:15:01to just kind of relieve a little bit of that financial pressure.
- 1:15:04Their child is taken care of. We do not take them into another
- 1:15:08home. We want to build up family.
- 1:15:11And so we teach the kids how to be helpful around the house, you
- 1:15:14know, and so we do a lot around working with the children and
- 1:15:19then the single parent. And it's been incredible.
- 1:15:21We have testimonies after testimonies of these single moms
- 1:15:25that are now helping other people in their village.
- 1:15:28We didn't even know about it. And it's been incredible.
- 1:15:30So we have a little over 450 kids.
- 1:15:33And so, yeah, so a couple 100 moms and single dads and some
- 1:15:38single. Grand.
- 1:15:38So can you sponsor a mom? You can.
- 1:15:40Still, we did that for a long time.
- 1:15:42I love that idea, but so it is. A lot of admin.
- 1:15:45It's yeah, it's a not-for-profit and that means I don't get paid
- 1:15:48either. So all the book sales go
- 1:15:50towards. Rainbow revivals not paying you
- 1:15:53and they're not paying you. Who's?
- 1:15:54Thank God I got a father that pays me.
- 1:15:56Real estate was really good to me.
- 1:15:57Wow. But he he's just God continues
- 1:16:00to take care. But yeah, I don't get paid so.
- 1:16:01How can people donate? They go to unforgottenfaces.org.
- 1:16:05It is a 5O1C3 and every penny goes.
- 1:16:08So that was something the Lord put on my heart.
- 1:16:10Every penny goes. So we have a team in Ethiopia,
- 1:16:13but they're all Ethiopian, right?
- 1:16:14And so everything is Ethiopian run.
- 1:16:16I'm the only American and I'm not paid either.
- 1:16:18And so, yeah. But we do need help, especially
- 1:16:21as the Lord, because that's what I was doing for a long time.
- 1:16:23I could raise support and fundraise and do different
- 1:16:25events, but now with sharing about my testimony, you know,
- 1:16:29and going everywhere, I don't have a lot of time to do that.
- 1:16:33So that is a way that people can support.
- 1:16:35But it's such an exciting opportunity to know that your
- 1:16:38money can go directly to help those in need.
- 1:16:40That's really because I know, I mean, there's other amazing
- 1:16:42organizations like World Vision or, you know, all of these
- 1:16:45things, but. Admin costs aren't bad.
- 1:16:47No, it was just the call I felt. But there's something really
- 1:16:49special about getting to directly serve in that way A.
- 1:16:52Dollar given a dollar. Unforgottenfaces.org and then
- 1:16:56Rainbow Revival. How can people support Rainbow
- 1:16:59Revival? Because I want to see the
- 1:17:01Freedom March in every city in America.
- 1:17:03Amen. Come on.
- 1:17:04So how do we support Rainbow Revival?
- 1:17:06We kind of have three points and it's prey partner and so, so
- 1:17:12none of us are paid on the team either.
- 1:17:14And so all the money that is raised goes directly to whatever
- 1:17:17the costs are to do these, you know, pop up events.
- 1:17:21And so yeah, go to rainbowrevival.org and you can
- 1:17:25check out, we're A5O1C3 as well. So that's separate and.
- 1:17:29I want to pay you cash like here full time.
- 1:17:33It's kind of incredible. Yeah, I love it.
- 1:17:35I love it. You know what?
- 1:17:37And it's not, I love when people get paid for things I do.
- 1:17:39I totally support that. I help support people who do get
- 1:17:42paid for ministry. But I do love that I'm in a
- 1:17:45position where I don't have to. Incredible, you know?
- 1:17:47And so in that, I mean, I'm not loaded either, but I, I've got
- 1:17:50pretty low, low, I, I can live low level.
- 1:17:53So, but in that with Rainbow Revival, you can show up, you
- 1:17:56can spread the word. We're going to do the event
- 1:17:58October 21st in Dallas. So you can come.
- 1:18:02What we want to see is we want to see not only the body of
- 1:18:05Christ come together, but when I say that ecumenical, we want to
- 1:18:08see Catholics, evangelicals, Protestant, all the different
- 1:18:11Lutherans, Baptist, like we need to pull together.
- 1:18:14And you, my dear, have seen how when the body of Christ comes
- 1:18:18together, giants. Fall, it's true.
- 1:18:21You watched an arm of a giant fall off with in the pro-life
- 1:18:25circle right? We believe the other arm is the
- 1:18:28LGBT. Not people, but the agendas.
- 1:18:32Ideology. We have to come together as a
- 1:18:34body of Christ. That's true. 5050 years of
- 1:18:37marching against Roe V Wade and it with prayer, I mean, so many
- 1:18:41like little ladies praying their rosaries in church and you know,
- 1:18:46the International House of Prayer, tons of prayer.
- 1:18:49Christina, the live action team praying with Lou Engel since she
- 1:18:52was like 20 years old and she's on our team.
- 1:18:54And but those prayers for the end of abortion, that fall of
- 1:18:57Roe. Obviously our fight's not over
- 1:18:59yet in the fight for life, but you are doing the same in this
- 1:19:02fight. We're we're partnered in these
- 1:19:04different parts of the cultural spiritual battle.
- 1:19:07So how can you donate? To go to
- 1:19:09rainbowrevivalrainbowrevival.org. We we are paying out bills and
- 1:19:14we thank God. He helped Kim pay those bills,
- 1:19:16guys. He does it every time, but it's
- 1:19:18a little close, closer than we'd like.
- 1:19:20So it's coming off October 21st. So if you feel.
- 1:19:22When's your next big event? It is October 21st.
- 1:19:25You got it. OK.
- 1:19:25Yep. All right.
- 1:19:26Great. Well, we'll be releasing this
- 1:19:27before then, so hopefully that will help.
- 1:19:29Thank you, Kim. I mean, so amazing.
- 1:19:31And then to follow you, your speaking, your writing, your
- 1:19:34ministry, where do people do that?
- 1:19:37I guess I have a social media it's.
- 1:19:39Good, it's. Starting, I don't really love
- 1:19:42that stuff, but it it's helpful and I'm thankful for those who.
- 1:19:45So yeah, you can just look up Kim Zember and I love to hear
- 1:19:48from people. My turn around time.
- 1:19:50I'm only one person, so it's not the greatest, but eventually I
- 1:19:53will get back to you and try to plug you into places that will
- 1:19:57walk with you, journey with you if you're struggling or whatever
- 1:20:00it might be. There's some beautiful
- 1:20:01ministries out there that I'm I'm just honored to be able to
- 1:20:04tell people about so. Beautiful.
- 1:20:06Thank you. Thank you so much, Kim.
