- 0:00Speaker 1: On January the twentieth of this year, President Trump signed
- 0:03Speaker 1: an Executive Order fourteen fifteen seven establishing a process to
- 0:08Speaker 1: designate international cartels as foreign terrorist organization also known as
- 0:14Speaker 1: ftos or specially designated global terrorists, recognizing them as national
- 0:20Speaker 1: security threats. One month later, on February the twentieth, the
- 0:25Speaker 1: US Department of State officially designated eight Latin American criminal groups,
- 0:30Speaker 1: including major Mexican cartels like the Sinaloa Cartel, the Gulf Cartel,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Northeast Cartel, United Cartel, to name a few, as terrorist organizations. Now,
- 0:43Speaker 1: these designations allow for intensified legal actions, including sanctions, asset freezes,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and broader enforcement under anti terrorism laws. This is something
- 0:55Speaker 1: that the President is saying he's going to start using
- 0:58Speaker 1: to his advantage. We are now getting reporting from Ken
- 1:02Speaker 1: Klippenstein that the military is preparing attacks on Mexican cartels.
- 1:09Speaker 1: In fact, he's claiming now they are secret orders that
- 1:12Speaker 1: are being worked up to directly target cartels as the
- 1:16Speaker 1: new terrorice frontier. His reporting says this Trump administration has
- 1:22Speaker 1: now directed the military to prepare for lethal strikes against
- 1:26Speaker 1: cartel targets inside Mexico. Three military sources are now confirming
- 1:32Speaker 1: to them. The top secret planning order issued in late spring,
- 1:37Speaker 1: they say, directs the Northern Command known as Northcom to
- 1:41Speaker 1: manage the attacks, which are to be ready by mid September.
- 1:45Speaker 1: The US Mexican military relations are broad and cooperative. Any
- 1:50Speaker 1: military action south of the border is considered extremely sensitive for
- 1:54Speaker 1: both Washington and the Mexican federal government and is rarely
- 1:58Speaker 1: discussed in public. Not only is Donald Trump uniquely focused
- 2:03Speaker 1: on transnational criminal organizations the official names for the cartels,
- 2:09Speaker 1: having designated them terrorists in one of his first executive orders,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but he has shown himself to be willing to take
- 2:16Speaker 1: unilateral action despite potentially negative political ramifications with Mexico. That
- 2:23Speaker 1: is what one senior intelligence official said for the report.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He and other sources say the military action could be unilateral,
- 2:32Speaker 1: that is, without the involvement or even the approval of
- 2:36Speaker 1: the Mexican government, and that would make sense because the
- 2:39Speaker 1: Mexican government is bought and paid for by the cartels
- 2:42Speaker 1: and is extremely extremely corrupt and infiltrated with cartel influence
- 2:50Speaker 1: everywhere the government goes. Now, the unprecedented order was discussed
- 2:55Speaker 1: apparently at a July meeting at NORTHCOM headquarters, in Colorado Springs.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The reporting is now saying that was led by Colby Jenkins,
- 3:03Speaker 1: the unconfirmed Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and
- 3:08Speaker 1: Low Intensity Conflict. Within days, the reporting now says General
- 3:13Speaker 1: Gregory Gullett, commander of Northcom, hosted the two highest ranking
- 3:17Speaker 1: Mexican military officials and made sure they knew what was
- 3:22Speaker 1: going on with our problems with the cartel, saying this today,
- 3:27Speaker 1: more than ever, the challenges we face demand a joint,
- 3:31Speaker 1: coordinated and adaptive response. That's what Morales said after the
- 3:36Speaker 1: Colorado visit, trying to impress upon Pentagon and military leaders
- 3:41Speaker 1: let any potential operation be conducted by two nations together.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Now again, why would this come from one of the
- 3:49Speaker 1: top officials in Mexico, Because they don't want America actually
- 3:53Speaker 1: going after the terrorists. To address extreme political sensitivities and
- 3:59Speaker 1: to honor, the report says Mexico sovereignty. Operations inside Mexico
- 4:04Speaker 1: have previously been conducted by the CIA and the Joint
- 4:08Speaker 1: Special Operations Command known as JAYSOK, the clandestine arm of
- 4:13Speaker 1: the US military that has been involved in targeting killings
- 4:16Speaker 1: in the Middle East. For example, The New York Times
- 4:19Speaker 1: has reported that the CIA has increased reconnaissance operations over
- 4:23Speaker 1: Mexico with its own drones, another indicator of increased preparations
- 4:29Speaker 1: for operations quote. NORTHCOM was previously sidelined in any Mexico planning.
- 4:36Speaker 1: The conventional special operations components mostly involved in joint training
- 4:40Speaker 1: whether Mexican counterparts on non lethal missions at sea and
- 4:44Speaker 1: also how to stop drug shipments, where they're now being
- 4:48Speaker 1: tasked with trying to figure out what they can do
- 4:50Speaker 1: in a much larger magnitude. That is what one senior
- 4:53Speaker 1: intelligence officialist said now. One reason is that prospective attacks
- 4:58Speaker 1: have also have to be court with intelligence communities at large,
- 5:02Speaker 1: for example, the FBI and various homeland security agencies such
- 5:06Speaker 1: as Border Patrol and ICE, who all now are focused
- 5:11Speaker 1: on Mexico instead of our wide open border that's been secured.
- 5:15Speaker 1: They can now go back to this job. We also
- 5:18Speaker 1: are being told that NORTHCOM is already involved in Mexico
- 5:22Speaker 1: in a host of ways, including combating the cartels. We
- 5:26Speaker 1: also have one general from Mexico alluding to this in
- 5:29Speaker 1: a recent testimony, saying that yes, there is cooperation with Mexico.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It is already closer than any point in history. Quote unquote,
- 5:38Speaker 1: so here we are, and that looks like the president
- 5:42Speaker 1: is moving forward, which brings me back to the CBS
- 5:45Speaker 1: reporting when Donald Trump and his administration labeled the Mexican
- 5:49Speaker 1: drug cartels as domestic terrorist organizations. Now you'll understand more
- 5:53Speaker 1: of the context.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Take a listen of an now to a monumental moment
- 5:57Speaker 2: and the war on drugs. The Trump administration has officially
- 6:00Speaker 2: designated Mexican drug cartels as domestic terrorist organizations. The Acting
- 6:06Speaker 2: Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is voicing strong support
- 6:11Speaker 2: for the move, turning out a CBS News Department of
- 6:13Speaker 2: Justice correspondent, Scott MacFarland, Scott, thanks so much for being
- 6:16Speaker 2: with us. What else do are we hearing today from
- 6:18Speaker 2: the head of the DEA.
- 6:20Speaker 3: His name is Derek Maltz, and he is making this
- 6:22Speaker 3: argument that this new designation that Latin American drug cartels
- 6:27Speaker 3: are terrorist organizations is going to help them marshal a
- 6:30Speaker 3: lot more resources and ability to stop or at least
- 6:35Speaker 3: slow some of the drug trade into America, into American
- 6:38Speaker 3: communities where fentanyl is killing users. It's killing innocent victims
- 6:43Speaker 3: who are nearby and exposed to the toxic chemicals of fentanyl.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Even killing babies and law enforcement officers who come near
- 6:51Speaker 3: the stop. So they're trying to get aggressive about this,
- 6:53Speaker 3: and some of this designation offers some new tools the
- 6:58Speaker 3: DEA hopes their effective tools. Critics say they could be counterproductive.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But among them is that foreign terrorist organizations are not
- 7:07Speaker 3: just targeted by the US government, but so to be
- 7:10Speaker 3: the people who provide support for terrorist organizations, people who
- 7:14Speaker 3: funnel the money. If you starve the money, some of
- 7:17Speaker 3: the money from terror groups, perhaps you cut them off
- 7:19Speaker 3: a bit. But there's concern, Liz, that if you make
- 7:22Speaker 3: it a crime to give money to a drug cartel,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you could be knocking down those who are victims of
- 7:29Speaker 3: the cartels, those who need the protection of cartels to
- 7:31Speaker 3: seek asylum in America, those who unknowingly send money to
- 7:35Speaker 3: families south of the border who they don't realize they're
- 7:38Speaker 3: associated with cartels. Is also the concern, Liz, that you
- 7:41Speaker 3: could dry up some of the sources America has on
- 7:44Speaker 3: the ground inside the drug networks.
- 7:47Speaker 1: So now the big question is what will this look
- 7:50Speaker 1: like moving forward. Well, let me give you a couple
- 7:52Speaker 1: examples of what all is being thought about. Number One,
- 7:56Speaker 1: there is a real need to counter Chinese influence and
- 8:00Speaker 1: also investment in Mexico, thwarting Russian influence as well and
- 8:04Speaker 1: operations and stemming the flow of drugs, the precursor chemicals
- 8:10Speaker 1: and even weapons of mass destruction components that have also
- 8:13Speaker 1: moved through Mexico. And that's why Northcom has tasked its
- 8:18Speaker 1: subordinates Special Operations Command called SUCK North to undertake operational
- 8:24Speaker 1: preparation of the battle space inside Mexico to set the stage,
- 8:29Speaker 1: they say, for future military operations and to prepare cartel
- 8:34Speaker 1: related target packages for potential strikes and direct action attacks
- 8:39Speaker 1: on ground against high value individuals as well as compounds
- 8:45Speaker 1: and supply chain targets associated in particular, we're now being
- 8:49Speaker 1: told with a Cinela cartel direct attacks could also involve
- 8:54Speaker 1: air and drone strikes. We're also being told that direct
- 8:58Speaker 1: action is a term space special operations forces used to
- 9:01Speaker 1: describe small scale offensive operations that would be carried out
- 9:05Speaker 1: by Army green berets, Navy seals or marine raiders. Think
- 9:09Speaker 1: of the air strikes on Iran this summer as kind
- 9:12Speaker 1: of a direct action against a discrete target with a
- 9:17Speaker 1: strategic or national purpose. Now there is no doubt a
- 9:21Speaker 1: major difference when it comes to Mexico, the political sensitivities involved.
- 9:26Speaker 1: We share a border with them. Mexico is a very
- 9:29Speaker 1: different country than Iran, and you have to have a
- 9:33Speaker 1: US cooperation in many ways with Mexico. So here we are,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and the reality is Donald Trump has said it's time
- 9:41Speaker 1: to go after the cartels to keep Americans safe, and
- 9:44Speaker 1: it looks like the planning is well underway. We have
- 9:49Speaker 1: new breaking news and it deals with former President Joe Biden.
- 9:53Speaker 1: He ignored. We're now being told the Department of Justice's
- 9:57Speaker 1: warnings over legally fought autopen pardons. Senior Justice Department officials
- 10:05Speaker 1: were left scrambling to quote interpret the sweeping clemency orders
- 10:10Speaker 1: former President Joe Biden approved for thousands of federal convicts
- 10:15Speaker 1: in his final days and final hours in office, and
- 10:19Speaker 1: they chastised the White House for falsely portraying the releases
- 10:25Speaker 1: as limited to quote nonviolent offenders. This, according to internal emails,
- 10:32Speaker 1: have now been revealed. The records obtained by the Oversight
- 10:37Speaker 1: Project and reviewed by The Washington Examiner, now reveal that
- 10:42Speaker 1: former Associate Deputy Attorney General, the department's top career official
- 10:47Speaker 1: at the time, Bradley Weinsheimer, raised alarms immediately after, Biden
- 10:52Speaker 1: issued three autopin sign warrants on January seventeenth, covering only
- 11:00Speaker 1: two thousand, five hundred inmates were now learning. In a
- 11:06Speaker 1: January eighteenth message to the White House Council and the
- 11:10Speaker 1: Department of Justice Office of the Partner Attorney, Weinsheimer wrote
- 11:16Speaker 1: that one warrant granted clemency for offenses described to the
- 11:20Speaker 1: Department of Justice was so vague it could not be
- 11:24Speaker 1: lawfully even carried out quote unquote. He went on to
- 11:29Speaker 1: say at the time, I think the language is highly problematic,
- 11:34Speaker 1: adding that to interpret the document properly, we will need
- 11:39Speaker 1: a statement or direction from President Biden. He also suggested
- 11:45Speaker 1: that Biden provide quote a list as to each inmate
- 11:49Speaker 1: listing the offenses that are covered by the commutation, which
- 11:54Speaker 1: he described as the clearest and least problematic alternative. Moving forward,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Weinsheimer and Biden needed to clarify the meaning of the
- 12:05Speaker 1: warrant language quote unquote so the DOJ could implement it
- 12:09Speaker 1: in the manner intended they claim by President Joe Biden.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Here is an exact quote from the email. It said this,
- 12:19Speaker 1: Given the above, I think it is best that we
- 12:21Speaker 1: receive a direct statement on direction from President Biden as
- 12:26Speaker 1: to the meaning of the warrant language. This will then
- 12:29Speaker 1: allow us to give full effect to the commutation warrant
- 12:32Speaker 1: and the manner intended by the President. And the absence
- 12:36Speaker 1: of such a statement or direction, I am concerned Option
- 12:40Speaker 1: three above will be the interpretation that is given to
- 12:43Speaker 1: the warrant. While that is a logical construction, legally it
- 12:49Speaker 1: can't possibly be what the President intended, so I would
- 12:54Speaker 1: like to avoid that outcome. One other important note the
- 12:58Speaker 1: email says communication about the commutations, the White House has
- 13:03Speaker 1: described those who receive commutations as people convicted of nonviolent
- 13:09Speaker 1: drug offenses. I think you should stop saying that because
- 13:13Speaker 1: it is untrue or at least misleading. As you know,
- 13:19Speaker 1: even with the exceedingly limited review we were permitted to
- 13:23Speaker 1: do of the individuals we believe you might be considering
- 13:26Speaker 1: for commutation action, we initially identified nineteen that were quote
- 13:32Speaker 1: highly problematic. That was based only upon running our initial
- 13:38Speaker 1: priority list against the list of those who had submitted
- 13:42Speaker 1: clemency petitions, a small percentage of the overall total from
- 13:46Speaker 1: the White House. Even in that number, we identified violent offenders,
- 13:53Speaker 1: including those who committed acts of violence during the offense. Now,
- 13:59Speaker 1: this is a screen shot of a much longer email
- 14:01Speaker 1: exchange that came from Weinsheimer on January eighteenth. This email
- 14:07Speaker 1: was directly warning the Biden White House that its language
- 14:12Speaker 1: about clemency subjects was quote untrue or at least misleading.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Weinsheimer also warned the ambiguous order could unintentionally wipe away
- 14:22Speaker 1: convictions for many violent felons. He pushed back against the
- 14:28Speaker 1: White House messaging that the clemency recipients were only nonviolent
- 14:32Speaker 1: drug offenders. That's not true. Among them, for example, was
- 14:37Speaker 1: Russell McIntosh. Now, this is not someone you would ever
- 14:41Speaker 1: describe as a quote nonviolent drug offender. How do we
- 14:45Speaker 1: know this? Russell killed a woman and her two year
- 14:50Speaker 1: old child to protect his drug business. Stephen Fowler, whose
- 14:56Speaker 1: enforcer tortured an informant with a butty torch, and Plays Anderson,
- 15:04Speaker 1: a gangster's disciple member, was implicated in multiple murders and
- 15:10Speaker 1: multiple kidnappings. This according to a commutation's receipt page from
- 15:15Speaker 1: the Department of Justice. Now all of the people I
- 15:19Speaker 1: just named those are not nonviolent drug offenders as the
- 15:22Speaker 1: White House claimed. And despite these warnings, the White House
- 15:26Speaker 1: release a statement in Biden's name, touting the mass commutations
- 15:31Speaker 1: as relief for quote, non violent drug offenses and saying
- 15:36Speaker 1: it was the largest clemency action in US history that
- 15:41Speaker 1: we apparently were supposed to celebrate it well. In July,
- 15:45Speaker 1: in the interview with The New York Times, I want
- 15:48Speaker 1: to remind you, Biden insisted he personally made all clemency decisions,
- 15:54Speaker 1: calling Republican claims that AIDS misused the auto pen ridiculous
- 16:00Speaker 1: end quote false. Now, amid scrutiny of his aide's use
- 16:05Speaker 1: of the automated signature device to place his name on
- 16:08Speaker 1: the pardon documents, Biden said he approved broad categories of
- 16:13Speaker 1: inmates and left staff to apply those standards, defending using
- 16:18Speaker 1: an auto pen as a practical tool to process the
- 16:23Speaker 1: sheer volume of cases. However, the doj emails illustrated that
- 16:30Speaker 1: inside of Biden's administration, officials were at least at the
- 16:35Speaker 1: very least very uncertain about what Biden was actually ordering
- 16:40Speaker 1: them to do, and were forced to openly challenge the
- 16:44Speaker 1: accuracy of the White House's public explanation about what they
- 16:48Speaker 1: were executing. Now Weinsheimer, previously accused of loyalty to Biden,
- 16:54Speaker 1: administration he has had warnings, by the way, are notable.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Why because given his long reputation as quitte, a non
- 17:03Speaker 1: political DOJ official, a career ethics lawyer, he was previously accused,
- 17:09Speaker 1: in fact, by Republicans of playing it behind the scenes
- 17:13Speaker 1: role in shaping what critics derived as Hunter Biden's sweetheart
- 17:18Speaker 1: plea deal while his father was the President of the
- 17:21Speaker 1: United States of America. So you need to know that
- 17:23Speaker 1: to put it in perspective. In fact, according to multiple reports,
- 17:28Speaker 1: Weinsheimer met directly with the first son Hunter Biden's Defence
- 17:33Speaker 1: Council in twenty twenty three. This is a move that
- 17:38Speaker 1: raised questions about whether the DOJ's leadership was actually undermining
- 17:43Speaker 1: former US Attorney David Weiss's purported independence in that entire case. Now,
- 17:50Speaker 1: his career at the DOJ ended with a partisan dispute
- 17:53Speaker 1: in February, shortly after Donald Trump returned to office, the
- 17:57Speaker 1: administration reassigned him to a new sanctuary Cities task force.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Rather than accept the politically charged assignment, Weinsheimer accepted a
- 18:07Speaker 1: federal employee buyout, part of a broader wave of career
- 18:10Speaker 1: officials who resisted what they viewed as attempts they claim
- 18:14Speaker 1: to politicize the DOJ's work altogether. So if you look
- 18:18Speaker 1: at exactly what we now know, it is clear that
- 18:22Speaker 1: there were efforts that are happening right now to recover
- 18:26Speaker 1: additional records related to the Oversights Project's pursuit of the
- 18:30Speaker 1: internal DOJ emails to the White House, and that is ongoing.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And also the email exchange that we just mentioned it
- 18:39Speaker 1: was revealed on Tuesday, we now know was released by
- 18:42Speaker 1: the Office of Ed Martin, that is Trump's appointees serving
- 18:45Speaker 1: as the US part Attorney and head of the DOJ
- 18:49Speaker 1: Anti Weaponization Group. So yes, even more evidence is coming
- 18:54Speaker 1: out that not only did Joe Biden ignore his own
- 18:58Speaker 1: Department of Justice warnings over his legally fawed auto pen pardons,
- 19:03Speaker 1: but they just didn't care and they were giving them
- 19:05Speaker 1: out to people that were violent criminals, not non violent
- 19:09Speaker 1: offenders as the White House claimed in the final days
- 19:13Speaker 1: in office. All Right, I want to take a moment
- 19:15Speaker 1: talk about the economy. You've been seeing what's happening on

- 21:34Speaker 4: that Democrats are losing their minds over the redistricting that
- 21:37Speaker 4: just finally became official in Texas. But the real reason
- 21:41Speaker 4: behind the jerrymandering all over the country and democratic states
- 21:45Speaker 4: may become even clearer now because of the data we're
- 21:49Speaker 4: now seeing. There's a news study out that says that
- 21:52Speaker 4: Democrats are losing registration race in all thirty states attract
- 21:58Speaker 4: party affiliation. In fact, four point five million voter swing
- 22:03Speaker 4: now towards the GOP. And that's exactly why you're seeing
- 22:08Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom saying we're gonna gerrymander our entire state, the
- 22:12Speaker 4: Democratic Party is hemorrhaging support with no end in sight,
- 22:17Speaker 4: according to the shocking analysis of new voter registrations. Now
- 22:23Speaker 4: this is all being fueled by President Donald Trump's big
- 22:26Speaker 4: gains among men, younger voters, and Latinos. In twenty twenty four,
- 22:32Speaker 4: more new voters nationwide chose to be Republicans than Democrats
- 22:36Speaker 4: for the first time since twenty eighteen, according to a
- 22:40Speaker 4: report from The New York Times, which relies on voter
- 22:44Speaker 4: registration data compiled by L two, a non Parson data firm.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Perhaps more troubling for Democrats, the data suggests Democratic Party
- 22:55Speaker 4: activists can no longer rely on the party's tried and
- 23:00Speaker 4: true methods to reverse the trend, leaving panic party leaders
- 23:05Speaker 4: and pundits unsure how to well resurrect the party's electoral prospects,
- 23:10Speaker 4: and the numbers are staggering. Quote of the thirty states
- 23:16Speaker 4: the track voter registration by political party affiliation, Democrats lost
- 23:22Speaker 4: ground to Republicans in every single state between twenty twenty
- 23:28Speaker 4: and twenty twenty four elections, and often by a lot. Quote.
- 23:34Speaker 1: That four year swing towards the Republicans added up to
- 23:38Speaker 1: four point five million voters a deep political hole that
- 23:43Speaker 1: could take years for Democrats to climb out from, which
- 23:47Speaker 1: goes back to why are Democrats doing what they're doing now? Well,
- 23:51Speaker 1: it's clear when they're this far behind, they need to
- 23:54Speaker 1: change something quickly. That could include counting illegal immigrants right
- 23:59Speaker 1: in these to help them with the election map. He
- 24:02Speaker 1: could also be giving them amnesty so that they could
- 24:05Speaker 1: vote quickly for them. And then there's the other problem
- 24:09Speaker 1: that Democrats have. Who is actually running the Democratic Party?
- 24:14Speaker 1: What do they stand for? And why are they so
- 24:17Speaker 1: against the American people and putting illegal immigrants ahead. These
- 24:23Speaker 1: are all questions that Joe Biden should have dealt with,
- 24:27Speaker 1: the Democratic Party should have dealt with, and what do
