- 0:01Speaker 1: We have a dream, and you know what the dream is.
- 0:03Speaker 1: We're going to move the Department of Education. We're going
- 0:05Speaker 1: to move education into the States so that the states
- 0:09Speaker 1: instead of bureaucrats working in Washington, so that the states
- 0:12Speaker 1: can run education.
- 0:13Speaker 2: You're listening to a forty seven Morning Update Special Government
- 0:17Speaker 2: shut down edition with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Good Thursday morning, Ben Ferguson with you. It's nice to
- 0:21Speaker 3: have you on the forty seven Morning Update. Is we
- 0:23Speaker 3: have a special show for you this morning. So many
- 0:26Speaker 3: of you that listen to the show want to know
- 0:27Speaker 3: the facts about what the president's actually accomplishing. This is
- 0:31Speaker 3: one of those special shows that I hope you will
- 0:33Speaker 3: share everywhere on social media. It's the forty seven Morning
- 0:36Speaker 3: Update and it starts right now. Story number one, a
- 0:40Speaker 3: government shutdown is now likely after Chuck Schumer says that
- 0:44Speaker 3: Senate Democrats will block a GOP funding bill. The Speaker
- 0:49Speaker 3: of the House, Mike Johnson making it very clear that
- 0:51Speaker 3: the same Democrats who have always said we can never
- 0:54Speaker 3: shut down the government and it hurts Americans and poor
- 0:57Speaker 3: people and the world is going to end now that
- 1:00Speaker 3: Donald Trump is in charge, They've decided, Nah, I we'll
- 1:03Speaker 3: just throw that all out the window and go with
- 1:05Speaker 3: the government shutdown just to try to hurt Donald Trump.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Take a list, and the speaker in his own words.
- 1:10Speaker 4: They're planning to vote down the simple bill. They are
- 1:12Speaker 4: going to try to shut the government down. Every House
- 1:14Speaker 4: Democrat will participate on this. It looks like that would
- 1:17Speaker 4: be a shame if it's true. I hope some of
- 1:19Speaker 4: them will have a moment of clarity themselves and do
- 1:21Speaker 4: the right thing. But it looks like they're going to
- 1:23Speaker 4: try to shut down the government. It's a striking new
- 1:26Speaker 4: posture for Democrats who have always said this has been
- 1:29Speaker 4: apoplectic about the prospect of government shutdowns.
- 1:32Speaker 3: So just think for a second about what the speaker
- 1:34Speaker 3: just said. It's very clear that Democrats are solely doing
- 1:38Speaker 3: this for political reasons, and they want America to suffer.
- 1:42Speaker 3: They want Americans to suffer because they want you to
- 1:45Speaker 3: blame Donald Trump for any inconvenience or real pain that
- 1:50Speaker 3: comes from a government shut down. You can also look
- 1:53Speaker 3: at it this way. They're advocating for tanking the American
- 1:56Speaker 3: economy because they don't actually care about Americans. In fact,
- 2:00Speaker 3: listen to the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in his
- 2:03Speaker 3: own words about why they're doing it.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Funding the government should be a bipartisan effort, but Republicans
- 2:10Speaker 5: chose a partisan path, drafting their Continuing Resolution without any input,
- 2:16Speaker 5: any input from Congressional Democrats. Because of that, Republicans do
- 2:21Speaker 5: not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture
- 2:25Speaker 5: on the House CR. Our caucus is unified on a
- 2:28Speaker 5: clean April eleventh CR that will keep the government open
- 2:33Speaker 5: and give Congress time to negotiate bi partisan legislation that
- 2:37Speaker 5: can pass. We should vote on that. I hope, I
- 2:41Speaker 5: hope our Republican colleagues will join us to avoid a
- 2:45Speaker 5: shutdown on Friday.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Translation Chuck Schumer saying, we the Democratic Party, are holding
- 2:50Speaker 3: Congress and the American people hostage because of that. As
- 2:54Speaker 3: he said, Republicans do not have the votes in the
- 2:56Speaker 3: Senate toot quoture on the House Continuing the rest, So
- 3:01Speaker 3: now it is a government shutdown that will be created
- 3:04Speaker 3: solely by the Democrats, with the Republicans holding a fifty
- 3:08Speaker 3: three to forty seven advantage in the Senate. Chuck Schumer
- 3:11Speaker 3: also understands that guess what, you don't always work together
- 3:14Speaker 3: with the other side, because when the American people voted
- 3:17Speaker 3: in Donald Trump and gave the Senate back to the
- 3:19Speaker 3: Republicans and the House control in the hands of the Republicans.
- 3:23Speaker 3: They didn't ask Donald Trump to quote compromise with Democrats.
- 3:28Speaker 3: They said to Donald Trump, go to Washington, save us money,
- 3:32Speaker 3: and go with a mandate to do what we're sending
- 3:34Speaker 3: you there to do. Now, the question is how long
- 3:38Speaker 3: could this last? Only the Democrats can answer that question,
- 3:41Speaker 3: as they're holding all of us hostage.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Next story number two.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Donald Trump ran on a issue that actually saw incredible
- 3:49Speaker 3: engagement in the presidential election cycle. It was the issue
- 3:53Speaker 3: of education. American schools are failing. In fact, we are
- 3:57Speaker 3: the lowest in many categories with the rest of the
- 4:00Speaker 3: world in reading and writing and arithmetic. There are quite
- 4:03Speaker 3: a few failing schools virtually everywhere you go in the country,
- 4:07Speaker 3: and public education has been a disaster. We've continued to
- 4:10Speaker 3: throw more money at it, and we've seen no increase
- 4:13Speaker 3: on test scores or a return on our investment where
- 4:16Speaker 3: students are getting better at the basics like reading, writing,
- 4:20Speaker 3: and arithmetic. The President has made it clear he believes
- 4:23Speaker 3: that the federal Department of Education is a disaster, something
- 4:27Speaker 3: that you cannot fix. Now, let's be clear, the President's
- 4:30Speaker 3: not said that we can't fix education, and he believes
- 4:33Speaker 3: it should be going back to the states. Well, the
- 4:35Speaker 3: President was in an Oval Office meeting and the conversation
- 4:39Speaker 3: came up about education. And here's what the President said.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They're not doing a good job. And if you take
- 4:45Speaker 1: a look at take a look at our education process,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and if you look at the charts, because they have
- 4:51Speaker 1: numerous charts where they do the top forty, we're at
- 4:54Speaker 1: number thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine, and forty. And
- 4:58Speaker 1: recently they hit during Gend's last few days. They hit last,
- 5:02Speaker 1: so they were number forty. And yet we're number one
- 5:05Speaker 1: in costs for people. So it's pretty bad. But we
- 5:10Speaker 1: have a dream. And you know what the dream is.
- 5:11Speaker 1: We're going to move the Department of Education. We're going
- 5:14Speaker 1: to move education into the states so that the states,
- 5:17Speaker 1: instead of bureaucrats working in Washington, so that the states
- 5:21Speaker 1: can run education.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Now, this goes back to a basic promise that Donald
- 5:25Speaker 3: Trump had made during the campaign. He believes that on
- 5:28Speaker 3: the local and state level, they can run education in
- 5:31Speaker 3: a much more efficient way than the federal government can.
- 5:34Speaker 3: With all of the corruption in Washington, d C. Which
- 5:37Speaker 3: brings me to something else. Linda McMahon, the Education Secretary,
- 5:42Speaker 3: has now come out and had a major round of
- 5:44Speaker 3: layoffs gutting the Civil Rights Office as well. The Education
- 5:48Speaker 3: department Civil Rights branch is losing nearly half of its staff,
- 5:52Speaker 3: and the Trump administration's layoff round one effectively gutting an
- 5:56Speaker 3: office that already faced a backlog of thousands of complaints
- 5:59Speaker 3: from students and families, they say, from across the nation.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Among a total of more than one thy three hundred
- 6:05Speaker 3: layoffs that were announced this week, roughly two hundred and
- 6:08Speaker 3: forty in the Department's Office for Civil Rights were in
- 6:12Speaker 3: that group that. According to a list obtained and verified
- 6:16Speaker 3: by the Associated Press, seven of the Civil Rights Agency's
- 6:19Speaker 3: twelve regional offices were entirely laid off, including Busy Hobbs
- 6:24Speaker 3: in New York, Chicago, and Dallas. Despite assurances that the
- 6:28Speaker 3: Department's work will continue unaffected, huge numbers of cases Democrats
- 6:32Speaker 3: now say appear to quote unquote being limbo. Insert fearmongering
- 6:37Speaker 3: right here. What democrats do well now? The Trump administration
- 6:41Speaker 3: has not said how it will proceed with these cases
- 6:44Speaker 3: being handled by its staff and many of those around
- 6:47Speaker 3: them that have been eliminated. The cases will involve families
- 6:50Speaker 3: trying to get school services for students with disabilities, and
- 6:54Speaker 3: that is something that Trump administration has said is important.
- 6:56Speaker 3: We also know, though, that the entire Department of Education
- 7:00Speaker 3: is well bloated and it's time to dismantle it piece
- 7:04Speaker 3: by piece so that the President United States of America
- 7:07Speaker 3: can then hand control back to the States. It's exactly
- 7:11Speaker 3: what he said about Martin Luther King and his dream now,
- 7:14Speaker 3: which is to give every kid a quality education and
- 7:17Speaker 3: an education they can be proud of, and an education
- 7:20Speaker 3: that has a return on our investment, and an education
- 7:23Speaker 3: that prepares kids for college and the future. We have
- 7:27Speaker 3: far too many public schools in America, and the Presence
- 7:30Speaker 3: made this clear that are handing out basically worthless pieces
- 7:34Speaker 3: of paper after you quote graduate the twelfth grade, even
- 7:38Speaker 3: though you're not reading at that level, writing at that level,
- 7:41Speaker 3: or doing math and science at that level. So for
- 7:44Speaker 3: Donald Trump, this is another step in that promise from
- 7:48Speaker 3: his campaign and a step that many parents will be
- 7:51Speaker 3: happy about in States when they actually get back control
- 7:55Speaker 3: of their public school system. And finally, story number three,
- 7:59Speaker 3: I want to take it back back to twenty sixteen.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It was the very first time that the media and
- 8:04Speaker 3: Democrats used Russia to try to attack Donald Trump. You
- 8:08Speaker 3: may remember the Russian collusion, Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, as
- 8:12Speaker 3: Donald Trump has said countless times with good reason. Well,
- 8:16Speaker 3: now the Democratic Party is trying to use Russia again
- 8:20Speaker 3: to undermine Donald Trump and his popularity, all because he
- 8:23Speaker 3: wants to see a ridiculous war be ended between Russia
- 8:28Speaker 3: and Ukraine. They're trying to drive a wedge between the
- 8:32Speaker 3: President and the American people, claiming that Donald Trump favors
- 8:36Speaker 3: Vladimir Putin and that there's some sort of shady, corrupt
- 8:40Speaker 3: business going on between the two men, which we all
- 8:44Speaker 3: know is obviously a massive lie, a lie that's been
- 8:47Speaker 3: orchestrated by the Democratic Party. Well there's a new story
- 8:50Speaker 3: that you probably haven't heard about, and I hope you'll
- 8:53Speaker 3: take this show and share it everywhere, because what I'm
- 8:56Speaker 3: about to tell you is something that literally no one
- 8:59Speaker 3: is covered. Donald Trump has threatened devastating financial penalties now
- 9:06Speaker 3: for Russia. I didn't say Ukraine. I said for Russia
- 9:11Speaker 3: and Vladimir Putin. President Trump on Wednesday threatened the quote
- 9:16Speaker 3: devastating financial penalties for Russia if the president Vladimir Putin
- 9:20Speaker 3: does not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine that Ukraine
- 9:24Speaker 3: has agreed to. Quote, there are things that wouldn't be pleasant.
- 9:28Speaker 3: In a financial sense. I can do things financially that
- 9:32Speaker 3: would be very bad for Russia. I don't want to
- 9:35Speaker 3: do that because I want to get peace. That is
- 9:38Speaker 3: what Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. Quote.
- 9:43Speaker 3: In a financial sense, yes, we could do things that
- 9:46Speaker 3: would be very bad for Russia. That would be devastating
- 9:49Speaker 3: for Russia. But I don't want to do that because
- 9:52Speaker 3: I want to see peace, and we're getting close to
- 9:55Speaker 3: maybe getting something done. We got Ukraine done, and as
- 9:59Speaker 3: you know, Ukraine might have been the more difficult party here.
- 10:04Speaker 3: You were here a week ago when some interesting things happen.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Referring to the Zolensky meeting in the Oval Office, Trump
- 10:10Speaker 3: went on to say I had somebody who didn't seem
- 10:14Speaker 3: to want peace. Now he's agreed to peace. Trump also
- 10:18Speaker 3: said people are going to Russia right now as we speak,
- 10:22Speaker 3: and hopefully we can get a ceasefire from Russia. If
- 10:25Speaker 3: we do, I think that would be eighty percent of
- 10:28Speaker 3: the way to getting this horrible bloodbath to end. So
- 10:32Speaker 3: the question that all of us should be looking at
- 10:35Speaker 3: and asking now is this, why is the media not
- 10:38Speaker 3: reporting this story? Number one and number two? A president
- 10:41Speaker 3: is trying to bring peace. Why aren't they celebrating this?
- 10:45Speaker 3: Why is the world media not celebrating this? And why
- 10:49Speaker 3: is it that this isn't the number one leading story
- 10:53Speaker 3: on every news channel right now that the president got
- 10:56Speaker 3: Zelensky agreed to peace after one week of him being
- 11:01Speaker 3: in the White House angry and yelling and arguing with
- 11:04Speaker 3: Donald Trump. And then the other question is this, why
- 11:08Speaker 3: aren't democrats, if you really want to talk about Russian collusion? Why,
- 11:12Speaker 3: and this may be the most important part, why are
- 11:15Speaker 3: they not demanding peace from Vladimir Putin? Why are world
- 11:19Speaker 3: leaders not demanding peace from Vladimir Putin? Let's be clear,
- 11:24Speaker 3: there is now an official deal on the table. Why
- 11:27Speaker 3: is it that foreign leaders aren't walking out in front
- 11:30Speaker 3: of microphones and demanding the Vladimir Putin agreed to the
- 11:33Speaker 3: ceasefire deal which Zolensky and Ukraine have agreed to, And
- 11:37Speaker 3: why aren't any of them talking about how quickly this
- 11:40Speaker 3: deal was done by Donald Trump? Now, look, I expect
- 11:44Speaker 3: the media to hate Donald Trump. I expect many world
- 11:47Speaker 3: leaders to well be jealous of him. But this should
- 11:50Speaker 3: be bigger than that. This is about saving countless lives
- 11:55Speaker 3: and so many families that have been destroyed in Russia
- 11:58Speaker 3: and Ukraine in a sense war from the very beginning.
- 12:02Speaker 3: This is what leaders do. They lead. And the sad
- 12:05Speaker 3: thing is apparently in this country right now with our media.
- 12:09Speaker 3: If his name is Donald Trump and he does something
- 12:11Speaker 3: incredible like work for a piece deal, they will at
- 12:15Speaker 3: best say something negative about him, or maybe just not
- 12:19Speaker 3: tell you the story at all.
