Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It is the Ben Ferguson Podcasts and it is a
- 0:04Speaker 2: dual show with Senator Ted Cruz and I as we
- 0:07Speaker 2: just got finished watching the vice presidential debate.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Senator you just watched it.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We got to watch it together, you got to commentate
- 0:16Speaker 2: on Hannity afterwards. And your initial takeaway from this debate.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I thought JD had a pretty good night.
- 0:23Speaker 3: He had an excellent, excellent night. It is eleven five pm,
- 0:27Speaker 3: just after the debate. As you noted, I just finished
- 0:29Speaker 3: doing Hannity and talking about the debate. I think this
- 0:33Speaker 3: was a good night for America. The winner of the
- 0:36Speaker 3: debate tonight was Donald Trump. The loser of the debate
- 0:40Speaker 3: tonight was Kamala Harris. Both candidates I think did an
- 0:45Speaker 3: effective job. Tim Waltz was frankly better than I expected,
- 0:49Speaker 3: but he had a very difficult case to make because
- 0:52Speaker 3: his job was to defend Kamala Harris's record. And the
- 0:55Speaker 3: reason that I think it was such a good night
- 0:57Speaker 3: for Trump is I think JD did a good job
- 1:00Speaker 3: job of prosecuting Kamala Harris's actual record. She is desperately, desperately,
- 1:06Speaker 3: desperately trying to run away from her record. Trying to
- 1:08Speaker 3: hide in the basement. And tonight the contrast was made
- 1:12Speaker 3: between the incredible successes on the border, on the economy,
- 1:16Speaker 3: on foreign policy under Donald Trump as compared to the
- 1:19Speaker 3: incredible failures on the border, on the economy, on foreign
- 1:22Speaker 3: policy under Kamala Harris and and and that stark divide
- 1:27Speaker 3: was there. I think Tim Waltz tried mightily to pretend
- 1:32Speaker 3: the record didn't exist. But but but there were some
- 1:35Speaker 3: rough moments because he couldn't deny reality. And and and
- 1:39Speaker 3: it really goes to the to the fundamental core conceit
- 1:43Speaker 3: of the Kamala Harris campaign, which is she is trying
- 1:46Speaker 3: to live in this alternate reality where she is the
- 1:51Speaker 3: change candidate and Donald J. Trump is the incumbent president,
- 1:55Speaker 3: and that is not in fact the planet on which
- 1:58Speaker 3: we live. And and I think JD did a good
- 2:01Speaker 3: job multiple times of saying, gosh, if she has all
- 2:04Speaker 3: these policy proposals, why isn't she doing any of them now?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, for the last three and a half years.
- 2:09Speaker 3: And Walt's has no answer to that other than well, well,
- 2:12Speaker 3: what's happening now isn't working, So that's the problem.
- 2:14Speaker 2: There was one funny part of the debate that I laughed,
- 2:17Speaker 2: And it was when he was talking about how none
- 2:19Speaker 2: of the wall was actually built, and then it was
- 2:23Speaker 2: like he realized, oh wait, maybe I don't want to
- 2:25Speaker 2: go that far with this point, because she's got an
- 2:27Speaker 2: ad out showing down on Trump's wall, and he was
- 2:30Speaker 2: like he kind of backpedaled on.
- 2:31Speaker 1: He's like, well, you guys didn't build much of that wall.
- 2:33Speaker 2: It's like, well, now, didn't she just say, didn't know
- 2:36Speaker 2: you're here to represent just say we got to have
- 2:38Speaker 2: a secure border, build a wall.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Well, and you could tell that Waltz was uncomfortable defending
- 2:44Speaker 3: Kamala's record because he kept trying to go back to
- 2:47Speaker 3: Minnesota over and over, getting yeah, look at what I've
- 2:49Speaker 3: done in Minnesota. Look at what I've done in Minnesota.
- 2:51Speaker 3: It's like, wait a second, you're not the candidate for president,
- 2:55Speaker 3: Kamala Harris say is. She's been the vice president. And
- 2:59Speaker 3: I thought in particular, the strongest moments of the debate
- 3:02Speaker 3: were on economics and the impact for working men and women,
- 3:08Speaker 3: that that just people's lives are harder, that the cost
- 3:11Speaker 3: of everything has gone up, the cost of food, the
- 3:13Speaker 3: cost of healthcare, the cost of UH gasoline, and I
- 3:17Speaker 3: thought on the cost of housing, I think jd Vance
- 3:21Speaker 3: made a good point of Look eleven and a half
- 3:23Speaker 3: million illegal immigrants, do you think that's driving up the
- 3:25Speaker 3: cost of housing? And I will say two of the
- 3:29Speaker 3: losers tonight were sitting in the moderator chairs and and
- 3:33Speaker 3: and that they they seem to be trying to topple
- 3:35Speaker 3: prior moderators for for the biggest partisan hacks of a debate.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I thought CBS's moderators, Nora O'Donnell and Margaret Brennan did
- 3:45Speaker 3: did a terrible job. Uh, there is not a person
- 3:49Speaker 3: in the universe who watched this debate who has any
- 3:51Speaker 3: doubt either one of them is like that, none whatsoever.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Yeah, there, And the best part was you and I
- 3:59Speaker 2: were watching together, and it's fun to watch these things
- 4:01Speaker 2: together because I was sitting there. And one of the
- 4:03Speaker 2: things that made me laugh was when they did their
- 4:04Speaker 2: hands off to each other. It was like, thinking, we
- 4:07Speaker 2: have to make we have so many important they think
- 4:08Speaker 2: you to back over to you.
- 4:09Speaker 1: It was like I was watching Anchorman.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Outtakes and it was like, we are so official journalistic
- 4:15Speaker 2: here and we're going to be wonky. And then they
- 4:17Speaker 2: would immediately go back in their hardest in their partisan hackery,
- 4:21Speaker 2: which was when they muted him.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yes, no, no, that was wow.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That really was the moment.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I tweeted, I said, when that happened, I tweeted, I
- 4:29Speaker 2: was like in communist countries they mute microphones. They just
- 4:33Speaker 2: did it during the Vice president of debate that if
- 4:36Speaker 2: you want to know if the state sponsored media, Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 2: they just did it.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I really was waiting for them. You know, you made
- 4:43Speaker 3: the Acreman equip as We're watching the debate, and I
- 4:45Speaker 3: was really waiting for one of them to lean over
- 4:47Speaker 3: as Ron Burgundy and say, screw you, Sandiago and I'm
- 4:51Speaker 3: cleaning the language up a little bit from the actual
- 4:53Speaker 3: line of the movie. But but it was number one stilted,
- 4:59Speaker 3: their mom rating number two. It was incredibly smarmy and condescending.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Your entire attitude is we know better than all of you.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And by the way, the things they interrupted, they were
- 5:08Speaker 3: supposed to not do fact checks. When they did do them,
- 5:11Speaker 3: they were wrong and they were completely self satisfied. And
- 5:15Speaker 3: the moment when they cut off JD Vance's microphone was pitiful.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It was nakedly biased. It was hackery. It was nothing
- 5:25Speaker 3: but partisan hackery, and I think CBS really got a
- 5:29Speaker 3: black eye.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think that could hurt them for real when it
- 5:32Speaker 2: comes to people watching, and it's really hard to defend
- 5:35Speaker 2: that they were nonpartisan when they did that. Now, let
- 5:37Speaker 2: me tell you about our friends real quick at Patriot Mobile. Americans.
- 5:41Speaker 2: If you're like me, you are sick and tired and
- 5:43Speaker 2: frustrated by a stalling economy. You're frustrated by inflation, You're
- 5:47Speaker 2: in frustrated by the endless wars of the left and
- 5:50Speaker 2: the relentless assault on our American values. There are major
- 5:56Speaker 2: companies that you were giving your money to you every
- 5:59Speaker 2: month with your cell phone service, Big Mobile, that are
- 6:02Speaker 2: actually helping these things to happen. How because they give
- 6:07Speaker 2: massive donations to democratic causes candidates, including Harris, including Biden,
- 6:13Speaker 2: including Obama. The list goes on and on, and they
- 6:16Speaker 2: give money to organizations that pay for abortions. If you
- 6:21Speaker 2: don't want your money going there, you need to switch
- 6:24Speaker 2: to Patriot Mobile. Because Patriot Mobile was created after there
- 6:29Speaker 2: was a group of conservatives that found out just how
- 6:31Speaker 2: radical Big Mobile had gotten, and they believe in America,
- 6:34Speaker 2: in our constitution. Now I'm proud to say I use
- 6:37Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile. I am proud to say I've been telling
- 6:40Speaker 2: you about them for years and they are on the
- 6:42Speaker 2: front lines fighting every day for our rights. Because when
- 6:46Speaker 2: you pay your bill every month, at no extra cost
- 6:49Speaker 2: to you, they take about five percent of that bill
- 6:50Speaker 2: and they give it back to First and Second Amendment
- 6:53Speaker 2: causes sanctity of life groups and organizations, and they give
- 6:57Speaker 2: to our military, our veterans are first responders and are
- 7:01Speaker 2: wounded warrior heroes. So you can take a stand with
- 7:04Speaker 2: every phone call you make. And switching now is easy
- 7:08Speaker 2: because in twenty twenty four you're going to use the
- 7:10Speaker 2: same towers when you switch to Patriot Mobile that you're
- 7:13Speaker 2: using right now. They operate on all three of the
- 7:16Speaker 2: major networks in this country, and they back their service
- 7:20Speaker 2: with a coverage guarantee, so switching is easy.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You do it all over the phone.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Go to Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson. That's Patriot
- 7:28Speaker 2: Mobile dot com slash ferguson, and you're gonna get a
- 7:32Speaker 2: free month when you use the offer code ferguson. You
- 7:34Speaker 2: can also call them and just make the switch over
- 7:36Speaker 2: the phone. Nine seven to two Patriot is their number.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Nine seven to two Patriot Call them and make the
- 7:43Speaker 2: switch and make a difference every day, Sentata, I want
- 7:46Speaker 2: to go back to the beginning of the debate, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: the first question coming into the debate was one I
- 7:52Speaker 2: think we all knew it was going to be on
- 7:53Speaker 2: Israel and the attack on Israel from Iran and Waltz
- 7:57Speaker 2: was very, very very nervous, you could tell. But he
- 8:01Speaker 2: also didn't know what to do because there's a hard
- 8:04Speaker 2: part of the Democratic Party, especially him in Minnesota, with
- 8:08Speaker 2: the extremists there that hate Israel and they're the ones
- 8:12Speaker 2: that are protesting and supporting the terrorists. And when he
- 8:15Speaker 2: came out, he had a little bit of an oops
- 8:17Speaker 2: listen carefully.
- 8:19Speaker 4: I ran our Israel's ability to be able to defend
- 8:23Speaker 4: itself is absolutely fundamental getting its hostages back It's hostages.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I was like, come on, man, you got to do
- 8:30Speaker 2: a little bit better than this. But it tells you
- 8:33Speaker 2: where the Democratic Party is right now. They don't want
- 8:35Speaker 2: to come out and defend Israel too much, but they
- 8:37Speaker 2: know they have to defend him on the face tonight.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And it was this weird, awkward moment for him.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Well, and look, he had a talking point that was
- 8:46Speaker 3: written for him for his handlers, by his handlers, that
- 8:51Speaker 3: was to say, Israel has a right to defend itself
- 8:54Speaker 3: and the hostages should be returned. And so those are
- 8:56Speaker 3: the two sentences he was told to say. And then
- 8:59Speaker 3: he immediately said, but we have to address the humanitarian
- 9:02Speaker 3: crisis in Gaza, because that's really what the Democrat Party
- 9:04Speaker 3: is worried about, is that too many Hamas and Hezbela
- 9:08Speaker 3: terrorists are being killed. And so he had to throw
- 9:11Speaker 3: that in. What he didn't say, you know what, he
- 9:13Speaker 3: didn't say a word about Iran attacking Israel, firing, not
- 9:17Speaker 3: a word at Israel. Look, Iran just just just pummeled
- 9:22Speaker 3: Israel with missiles and that is a major escalation. Now
- 9:25Speaker 3: Iran has been funding Hamas and funding Hesbel that's been
- 9:28Speaker 3: fighting through proxies, but this is now Iran directly attacking Israel.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And the question he was asked is would he support
- 9:37Speaker 3: Israel striking back? And you know what he didn't answer.
- 9:42Speaker 3: He did not want to answer. He did not want
- 9:44Speaker 3: to answer at all. And and you know, critically the
- 9:50Speaker 3: opening of his answer. Tim Waltz's answer was this crisis
- 9:57Speaker 3: began on October seventh. Well, that's actually wrong. This crisis
- 10:03Speaker 3: began in January of twenty twenty one, when Joe Biden
- 10:06Speaker 3: and Kamala Harris came in. Yeah, when they began flooding
- 10:09Speaker 3: one hundred billion dollars to Iran, that's when the crisis.
- 10:14Speaker 3: And by the way, when they came in, remember what
- 10:16Speaker 3: was happening. Just weeks before, we had peace flourishing in
- 10:22Speaker 3: the Middle East. We had the Abraham Accords signed on
- 10:24Speaker 3: the south lawn of the White House. I was there
- 10:27Speaker 3: for the signing of the Abraham Accords. You know what,
- 10:29Speaker 3: not a single Democrat showed up for the signing of
- 10:32Speaker 3: the Abraham Accords, not a single Democrat Senator, not a
- 10:34Speaker 3: single Democrat House member.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I did not realize that none of them showed up.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And that was the deal that dealt with the word
- 10:41Speaker 2: their obsessed with, which is peace?
- 10:42Speaker 3: Right, Yes, it was. It was historic peace. It was
- 10:47Speaker 3: the Arabs and the Israelis coming together and signing historic
- 10:51Speaker 3: peace accords. And not only did no Democrats sign up
- 10:55Speaker 3: at the signing end. Do you know what Joe Biden
- 10:57Speaker 3: Kamala Harris instructed the State Department what was that? In writing?
- 11:01Speaker 3: They said you were not allowed to use the words
- 11:03Speaker 3: Abraham accurts don't even call them what they were called.
- 11:08Speaker 3: They were instructed to call them normalization agreements, but do
- 11:12Speaker 3: not use apparently acknowledging Father Abraham as too much and
- 11:17Speaker 3: anything that Trump did they were not allowed to make
- 11:19Speaker 3: reference to. But explicitly, the State Department was instructed, don't
- 11:23Speaker 3: use the words Abraham a courts. So we went from
- 11:26Speaker 3: historic peace, the first peace agreements signed between Israelis and
- 11:31Speaker 3: Arabs in four decades to suddenly Joe Biden Kamala Harris
- 11:37Speaker 3: come in and they start flooding cash into Iran, and
- 11:40Speaker 3: Iran starts flooding cash into Hamas and Hesbela that paid
- 11:45Speaker 3: for the death squads on October seventh, and Tim Waltz
- 11:49Speaker 3: had not a word to say about that, not a
- 11:51Speaker 3: word to say about thee hundred billion dollars that Kamala
- 11:54Speaker 3: Harris gave as a gift to Iran. And you know
- 11:57Speaker 3: what is still giving today today Joe Biden and Kamala
- 12:02Speaker 3: Harris still refuse to enforce the oil sanctions against Iran.
- 12:06Speaker 3: They are literally funding the missiles that were fired on
- 12:10Speaker 3: Iran today. In a very real sense, Kamala Harris paid
- 12:13Speaker 3: for those missiles.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It's shocking.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Also, the media when you're watching this. They didn't ask
- 12:16Speaker 2: about sanctions. They also didn't ask about hearers and what
- 12:20Speaker 2: the response should be from this administration, right because she's.
- 12:22Speaker 3: In the administer. To be fair, they did. Their question was,
- 12:27Speaker 3: would you support a preemptive strike by Israel against Iran?
- 12:31Speaker 3: And now it's not actually preempted because it is in
- 12:33Speaker 3: responsevery attack, So the word preemptive is a loaded lefty word.
- 12:38Speaker 3: It's not preemptive if you're defending yourself after you've been attacked.
- 12:42Speaker 3: But that was the question they asked, and to be clear,
- 12:45Speaker 3: when asked, would you support it? Kamala is the sitting VP,
- 12:48Speaker 3: and we know Joe Biden is non COMPASSMENTUS. I don't
- 12:52Speaker 3: know if he's passed out on the beach in Delaware
- 12:53Speaker 3: or what he's doing.
- 12:54Speaker 2: But he didn't spend almost two hours on the phone,
- 12:58Speaker 2: he said this weekend talking about hurricane stuff. Almost two hours. Well,
- 13:01Speaker 2: you know, and look, that's a lot of time for him.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I believe that because when my girls were young, we
- 13:06Speaker 3: had an app on the phone that was the wheels
- 13:08Speaker 3: on the bus go round and round. And I believe
- 13:10Speaker 3: he spent two hours on the phone, perhaps with an
- 13:13Speaker 3: app like.
- 13:14Speaker 2: That, but the question that they should have asked was,
- 13:16Speaker 2: are you, guys, what would you do differently? What would
- 13:18Speaker 2: you advocate for? What would you support sanctions? I mean
- 13:21Speaker 2: you and I talked about this in our show on Monday.
- 13:24Speaker 2: There was if and correct me if my numbers are wrong,
- 13:26Speaker 2: but I'm quoting you. It was three hundred thousand barrels
- 13:31Speaker 2: a day is what a RAM was producing when Trump
- 13:33Speaker 2: was in office.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's now two million barrels.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Well, and I wish JD had provided more specifics on that.
- 13:39Speaker 3: That answer could have been tighter with more facts on it.
- 13:44Speaker 2: And it tells you like and the question I wish
- 13:47Speaker 2: they would have asked them is both them like, hey guys,
- 13:50Speaker 2: are you would you right now? Should there move more
- 13:53Speaker 2: sanctions or should they be enforcing the sanctions? Or even
- 13:57Speaker 2: the question, hey, why is your running mate Kamala Harris
- 13:59Speaker 2: not doing more to enforce the sanctions.
- 14:01Speaker 3: There to stop I ran from murdering Donald Trump?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yes, And that didn't come up tonight, which I was
- 14:06Speaker 2: also shocked by because we talked about this again in
- 14:09Speaker 2: Monday's pod. You have a RAN that's funding and recruiting
- 14:15Speaker 2: assassins a takeout Donald Trump and other former leaders in
- 14:19Speaker 2: our government and as they're doing that, no one asked
- 14:22Speaker 2: that question tonight.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, look at it now. I will say a point
- 14:27Speaker 3: that Jad made on this that was very effective is
- 14:30Speaker 3: when he looked at the camera and he asked the
- 14:32Speaker 3: American people, he said, think back in your lifetime, what
- 14:36Speaker 3: president has not had a major military conflict during his presidency?
- 14:42Speaker 3: And he said, I'm forty years old, and there's only
- 14:44Speaker 3: one president that you could answer yes to, and that
- 14:48Speaker 3: is Donald J. Trump.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 3: That was a very effective point, and I think it
- 14:51Speaker 3: probably made some people think. And Waltz had no response
- 14:55Speaker 3: to that other than well, well, but you know, I
- 14:57Speaker 3: don't like Trump and other people don't like Trump. But
- 15:01Speaker 3: the simple point that we had peace when Trump was
- 15:05Speaker 3: president and we now have war, not just in Israel
- 15:09Speaker 3: but in Ukraine. When you have a week in an
- 15:11Speaker 3: effective commander in chief, that contrast was pretty stark.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I also thought there was another narrative tonight that really
- 15:17Speaker 2: got blown up, and that was the obsession by the
- 15:20Speaker 2: media to label jd Vance's strange or weird.
- 15:24Speaker 1: He's a weird guy's odd.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I think he came across as very likable, very normal,
- 15:30Speaker 2: came across as a dad and I think that also
- 15:34Speaker 2: could help Donald Trump significantly.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, look, I think that's right. And I
- 15:38Speaker 3: will say one of the things that surprised me. I
- 15:42Speaker 3: thought this debate was going to be nasty. You and
- 15:45Speaker 3: I both said that before. You were like, dude, they
- 15:47Speaker 3: don't like each other. We both knew that, but I
- 15:48Speaker 3: thought it was going to be nasty too. Look, my
- 15:50Speaker 3: sense is that they really dislike each other, although to
- 15:53Speaker 3: be fair, I haven't talked to JD about that, so
- 15:55Speaker 3: I don't know firsthand from him. It just the appearance
- 15:59Speaker 3: from the media and the general milieu, as it appears
- 16:01Speaker 3: that neither one of them likes each other. And so
- 16:05Speaker 3: I thought, you know, I'd used an analogy that are
- 16:07Speaker 3: going to be rolling around in the mud. This is
- 16:09Speaker 3: gonna be a mud wrestling match, and it wasn't. And
- 16:12Speaker 3: both of them, neither of them had even a single
- 16:17Speaker 3: really nasty line, which which is a little surprising. If
- 16:21Speaker 3: you'd asked me to bet beforehand, I would have I
- 16:24Speaker 3: would have bet it's more likely that they each had
- 16:26Speaker 3: a dozen nasty lines at each other than Nero and IT,
- 16:30Speaker 3: And in fact, both of them more than once praised
- 16:33Speaker 3: the other one, which was an interesting. I don't know
- 16:39Speaker 3: if that how much of that was genuine, how much
- 16:41Speaker 3: of that was strategic, how much of the campaign said, Look,
- 16:44Speaker 3: your job is to be likable and relatable.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But but and if it was, it was a great strategy.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Yeah, And and both did so multiple times said said,
- 16:54Speaker 3: you know, look when when Tim Waltz described how his
- 16:57Speaker 3: son had witnessed a shooting and which which I didn't
- 17:01Speaker 3: know either, and that's that's horrific. You and I are
- 17:03Speaker 3: both dads, certainly wouldn't want our kids to see a shooting.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And I thought, JD when it came back and said, hey,
- 17:11Speaker 3: I didn't know your son had done I'm really sorry.
- 17:12Speaker 3: That's that's like horrible one, no one, that's horrible. That
- 17:16Speaker 3: was real and genuine, And I thought, and there were
- 17:18Speaker 3: moments back and forth for both of them like that.
- 17:21Speaker 2: When you look at how this played out tonight, You
- 17:23Speaker 2: and I have said this before, and you go back
- 17:25Speaker 2: in history. VP debates don't really usually matter. Does it
- 17:30Speaker 2: matter a little bit more this time?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Do you think? Because there was only one present debate?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Number one and two?
- 17:36Speaker 2: Because if Donald Trump is he's running for four years, right,
- 17:40Speaker 2: there's no chance in eight years here? Does that change
- 17:43Speaker 2: the perception of voters as well.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Look damned if I know, I will say I think
- 17:51Speaker 3: this probably mattered. At the end of the day. Historically,
- 17:53Speaker 3: VP debates don't matter much. If you think back to
- 17:58Speaker 3: to VP debates about the only time, I'm willing to
- 18:03Speaker 3: guess you could only remember one moment two moments from
- 18:06Speaker 3: VP debates, you probably remember the fly landing on Mike
- 18:09Speaker 3: Pence's head.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And that will be seared into my brain forever.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yes, especially since Saturday Night Live had a giant fly
- 18:15Speaker 3: and then they did a good job.
- 18:16Speaker 1: They did a great job with that.
- 18:17Speaker 3: But the only line I bet you you can quote,
- 18:20Speaker 3: and you're about as much of a political junkie as anyone,
- 18:23Speaker 3: is the only line I bet you you can quote
- 18:25Speaker 3: is Lloyd Benson to Dan Quayle saying I knew Jack Kennedy.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Jack Kennedy was my friend. Yeah, And Senator you're no.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Jude Kennedy bingo, and that that was a damn line,
- 18:35Speaker 2: And that was that was what was that eighty eight
- 18:38Speaker 2: or nineth.
- 18:38Speaker 3: That was it was? It was Ducaccus Benson eighty eight.
- 18:42Speaker 3: And by the way, Dan Quayle and George Bush won,
- 18:45Speaker 3: So it didn't change the outcoming election. It did kind
- 18:48Speaker 3: of sear in public consciousness. That was one of the
- 18:52Speaker 3: moments where where the caricature of Quail is a lightweight,
- 18:55Speaker 3: that that line.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It hurt him.
- 18:58Speaker 3: It was clearly rehearsed, It was landed very effectively, which
- 19:04Speaker 3: is why three decades later we're talking about it.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And it was also I think to find Dan Quail
- 19:11Speaker 2: as a candidate on his own yeap, which was sad well.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And and and the reason it was prepared is because
- 19:17Speaker 3: Quail had been using as a talking point, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I'm the same age Jack Kennedy was because he was
- 19:22Speaker 3: trying to say I'm not inexperienced, and he.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Looked young if you remember, he looked really look he
- 19:28Speaker 1: was twenty six.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was Benson was very able to deliver
- 19:32Speaker 3: that line. And it was but historically VP debates have
- 19:37Speaker 3: not moved votes one way or the other. I will
- 19:40Speaker 3: say I was glad so for most of the debate,
- 19:46Speaker 3: JD remembered that his target was Kamala Harrison, not Tim Waaltz.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah, he said that a lot. He used her name
- 19:53Speaker 2: a lot.
- 19:54Speaker 3: And in fact, one of the better moments, and I
- 19:56Speaker 3: want you to play this clip is it is where
- 19:58Speaker 3: JD said said to t Waltz, said, You've got a
- 20:01Speaker 3: really tough job. I feel bad for how tough a
- 20:04Speaker 3: job you have. And it was sort of it was
- 20:06Speaker 3: damning him with faint praise because it was a backheaded
- 20:09Speaker 3: shot at Kamala or play that exchange.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But first, in light of a RAN's ballistic missile attack
- 20:15Speaker 2: against Israel that happened, there are so many of you
- 20:19Speaker 2: that I know are asking the question, how do you
- 20:21Speaker 2: help the people in Israel. The initial reports indicate that
- 20:25Speaker 2: around one hundred missiles had been fired towards Israel directly,
- 20:30Speaker 2: and the people there on the ground they had to
- 20:33Speaker 2: rush to the bomb shelters.
- 20:35Speaker 1: There are so many people that are.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Under attack right now, and that is exactly why I
- 20:40Speaker 2: want you to know about IFCJ. The International Fellowship of
- 20:44Speaker 2: Christians and Jews is on the ground right now helping
- 20:47Speaker 2: the civilians, helping them prepare for both defense and to
- 20:52Speaker 2: make sure that they're taking care of after the rockets
- 20:55Speaker 2: are coming down on them. Your emergency gift forty five
- 21:00Speaker 2: dollars will help provide life saving aid like food and water,
- 21:05Speaker 2: as well as other emergency supplies for vulnerable Israelis trapped
- 21:08Speaker 2: in bomb shelters. They need our help now more than ever,
- 21:12Speaker 2: and some of you ask the question how can I help? Well,
- 21:15Speaker 2: you can do it by partnering with the International Fellowship
- 21:18Speaker 2: of Christians and Jews. Call them right now and give
- 21:21Speaker 2: that emergency gift to forty five dollars or more eight
- 21:25Speaker 2: to eight four eight eight IFCJ. That's eight eight eight
- 21:30Speaker 2: four eight eight four three two five. You can also
- 21:34Speaker 2: go online and give securely there at SUPPORTIFCJ dot org.
- 21:40Speaker 2: That support IFCJ dot org one word support IFCJ dot org.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Help the people in Israel, as you may not realize,
- 21:49Speaker 2: just prior to that attack, eight Israelis were killed and
- 21:52Speaker 2: seven more were injured in a terror shooting in the
- 21:55Speaker 2: city of Yafa.
- 21:57Speaker 1: These are the people that are needing our help now
- 22:00Speaker 1: more than ever.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So go online to support IFCJ dot org or eight
- 22:04Speaker 2: at eight for eight eight four three two five to
- 22:07Speaker 2: give and thank you for all you getting involved.
- 22:10Speaker 1: All right, take a listen to this clip.
- 22:12Speaker 2: It is actually a really funny one where you have
- 22:16Speaker 2: JD saying it's tough having your job having to defend
- 22:19Speaker 2: Kamala Harris.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Elebnard Waltz just did as he said, first of all,
- 22:23Speaker 5: Donald Trump has to listen to the experts, and then
- 22:25Speaker 5: when he acknowledged that the experts screwed up, he said, well,
- 22:27Speaker 5: Donald Trump didn't do nearly as good of a.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Job as this. That's a coach general as he did.
- 22:32Speaker 3: So what Tim Waltz is doing. And I honestly, Tim,
- 22:34Speaker 3: I think you got a tough job here because you've
- 22:36Speaker 3: got to play whack a mole.
- 22:37Speaker 5: You've got to pretend that Donald Trump didn't deliver rising
- 22:40Speaker 5: take home pay, which of course he did. You've got
- 22:42Speaker 5: to pretend that Donald Trump didn't deliver lower inflation, which
- 22:46Speaker 5: of course he did. And then you simultaneously got to
- 22:48Speaker 5: defend Kamala Harris's atrocious economic record, which has made gas, groceries,
- 22:53Speaker 5: and housing unaffordable fair American citizens. I was raised by
- 22:57Speaker 5: a woman who would sometimes go into medical day so
- 23:00Speaker 5: that she could put food on the table in our household.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I know what it's like to not be able to
- 23:05Speaker 5: afford the things that you need to afford. We can
- 23:08Speaker 5: do so much better to all of you watching. We
- 23:10Speaker 5: can get back to an America that's affordable again. We
- 23:13Speaker 5: just got to get back to common sense economic principles.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I hope we have a conversation on healthcare.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Then Senator and governor.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Please, thank you, Margaret. We have a lot.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I love how they they jump in there, by the way,
- 23:23Speaker 2: thank you, thank you.
- 23:25Speaker 1: We gotta we got to move on from that real quick.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You just you just smacked him around a little bit.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, I mean that they were They were eager
- 23:33Speaker 3: to help out Waltz. They were also on the fact checking.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You know, we talked about it at at the open
- 23:39Speaker 3: of the pod when they cut off JD's mike. Now
- 23:43Speaker 3: that was a moment when number one Kamala was getting
- 23:47Speaker 3: beat up hard on immigration. Yeah, but number two the
- 23:52Speaker 3: moderators jumped in and and JD talked about the Haitian
- 23:56Speaker 3: illegal immigrants who are in Springfield. Oh, and you know,
- 24:01Speaker 3: they wanted to reprise the whole cat thing. I was surprised.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I also, I would have lost a bet if you
- 24:06Speaker 3: had given me the odds on whether the word cat
- 24:08Speaker 3: would be said in the debate. I would have bet yes,
- 24:10Speaker 3: and I would have lost that bet. So so that
- 24:12Speaker 3: the moderators did not say that, nor did Tim Waltz.
- 24:16Speaker 3: But JD rightly said, look, this massive influx of illegal
- 24:20Speaker 3: aliens is putting an enormous burden on the residents of
- 24:22Speaker 3: Springfield and every other city in Ohio and every other
- 24:24Speaker 3: city in the country. And the moderators chimed into correct him,
- 24:29Speaker 3: well those are legal immigrants, and he said, blowney, yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 3: and this is a fiction. So look, we have a
- 24:37Speaker 3: legal immigration system, and what has happened is Joe Biden
- 24:40Speaker 3: and Kamala Harris have abused our immigration law. So the
- 24:45Speaker 3: three hundred thousand plus Haitians and Nicaraguans and Cubans and
- 24:48Speaker 3: Venezuelans they've flown in, they've flown in indo programs where
- 24:51Speaker 3: they say, well, these guys are all now legal just
- 24:53Speaker 3: because we've decided to open the doors and call everyone
- 24:56Speaker 3: we let in legal. That is not legal in any
- 24:59Speaker 3: ordinary sense. They are illegal immigrants. And in particular, JD
- 25:03Speaker 3: rightly talks about the app CBP one, which we've talked
- 25:06Speaker 3: about on this podcast before, an app for illegal immigrants
- 25:10Speaker 3: to apply online for Kamala Harris to let him in
- 25:12Speaker 3: our open border.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And they did not like him saying this because it
- 25:15Speaker 1: was fact checking them.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It was they were fact checking him. They were wrong,
- 25:20Speaker 3: he countered him, and then they cut off his mic
- 25:23Speaker 3: right when when when Tim Waltz was saying, well, well,
- 25:26Speaker 3: you know this has been around for years. CBB one
- 25:28Speaker 3: was just created by Joe Biden. Kamala Harris. Here play
- 25:31Speaker 3: the clip when they cut off his mic, because it
- 25:32Speaker 3: really is revealing of the enormous bias and the factual
- 25:38Speaker 3: just mendacity of the CBS moderators.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Thank you, Senator, we having so much.
- 25:44Speaker 3: To get to, Margot.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I think it's important economy thing.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Margaret.
- 25:48Speaker 5: The rules were that you got in a fact check,
- 25:50Speaker 5: and since you're fact checking me, I think it's important
- 25:53Speaker 5: to say what's actually going on. So there's an application
- 25:56Speaker 5: called the CBP one app where you can go on
- 25:58Speaker 5: as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for
- 26:02Speaker 5: parole and be granted legal status at the wave of
- 26:06Speaker 5: a Kamala Harris open border wand that is not a
- 26:10Speaker 5: person coming in applying for a green cart and waiting
- 26:12Speaker 5: for ten years. Thank you, senatortation of a legal immigration,
- 26:16Speaker 5: Margaret bi.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Thank you, senator for describing the legal process. Have so
- 26:21Speaker 6: much to get, Senator.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So much the book since nineteen ninety, Thank you, gentlemen.
- 26:26Speaker 5: We want to have that has not been on the books.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's something.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Gentlemen, the audience can't hear you because your mics are cut.
- 26:36Speaker 6: We have so much we want to get to. Thank
- 26:38Speaker 6: you for explaining the legal process.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I love that the legal process.
- 26:42Speaker 3: I mean that is so smarmy, like arrogant, conting, snarky. Look,
- 26:52Speaker 3: these there's no doubt they're political bias. There's no doubt
- 26:56Speaker 3: they love Kamala Harris. There's no doubt they're voting Foramala Harris.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Thank you for describing the legal process. No, CBP one
- 27:04Speaker 3: is not the legal process. It is an app designed
- 27:07Speaker 3: by Kamala Harrison Joe Biden to facilitate a massive invasion
- 27:12Speaker 3: of this country.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And they and they shut the mic off.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I actually am glad they did it because it's just
- 27:19Speaker 2: And when anybody says in the future, well, there's no
- 27:21Speaker 2: bias to me and Mike, really did you see? And
- 27:23Speaker 2: I love that she says, they try to act like
- 27:25Speaker 2: we shut both your micros off. No, you were shutting
- 27:28Speaker 2: down jd Vance, who was fact checking.
- 27:31Speaker 3: You and pointing out that she was lying.
- 27:33Speaker 1: And pointing out she design we got to move on.
- 27:35Speaker 1: We have other important things.
- 27:36Speaker 2: And by the way, I promise you that moment if
- 27:37Speaker 2: you pulled the audience in America watching, they would have
- 27:40Speaker 2: loved to have heard what JD.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Van said.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Like course you would have been like, boh, I want
- 27:44Speaker 2: to hear this right, Like wait, give me a second.
- 27:47Speaker 3: That's absolutely right, But CBS didn't want the audience to
- 27:50Speaker 3: hear that. You know, there was another moment on the
- 27:53Speaker 3: same topic of the border where Tim Waltz said the
- 27:57Speaker 3: most brazen lie of the entire devay and when when
- 28:02Speaker 3: Waltz was back pedaling and trying to defend the disaster
- 28:04Speaker 3: of Kamala's open borders, Tim Waltz said, quote, border crossings
- 28:10Speaker 3: are down compared to when Donald Trump left office. Yeah, now,
- 28:15Speaker 3: which is a lie. And you and I both are
- 28:17Speaker 3: looking at the TV like that's not true. That that
- 28:20Speaker 3: is not slightly true. It's not kind of true. It's
- 28:25Speaker 3: not in any way. And let me give you the stats.
- 28:27Speaker 3: So in December twenty twenty, the total encounters with illegals
- 28:32Speaker 3: was eighty nine thousand and seventy two. In August twenty
- 28:36Speaker 3: twenty four, the total encounters was one hundred and fifty
- 28:40Speaker 3: eighty nine hundred and eighty eight, so it was nearly
- 28:44Speaker 3: twice as many. And and mind you look, there's been
- 28:46Speaker 3: a slight dip in the last couple of months because
- 28:50Speaker 3: Biden and Harris are trying to pretend to do something
- 28:52Speaker 3: about the border, and they're just doing it as electioneering.
- 28:56Speaker 3: And to put it in, in all of fiscal year
- 28:59Speaker 3: twenty twenty, do you know how many encounters with illegals
- 29:02Speaker 3: there were under Trump? How many six hundred and forty six,
- 29:05Speaker 3: eight hundred and twenty.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Two that's like a month in this administration.
- 29:09Speaker 3: In fiscal year twenty four year to date, and by
- 29:11Speaker 3: the way, we're not all the way through twenty four.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Do you know how many there're been? How many two million,
- 29:16Speaker 3: seven hundred and fifty six thousand, six hundred and forty six.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:20Speaker 3: And by the way, these these brave fact checkers, did
- 29:25Speaker 3: you notice the CBS cut off anybody. They say, wait
- 29:29Speaker 3: a second, Governor, you just said that border encounters were
- 29:32Speaker 3: lower now than they were under Trump. That is flat
- 29:37Speaker 3: out false. They didn't say that because they're not in
- 29:41Speaker 3: the business of fact checking Democrats.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Well, and they also didn't bring up something else that
- 29:46Speaker 2: I actually thought there's a missopportunity. I think JD had
- 29:49Speaker 2: a great night, but I wish you would have seized
- 29:51Speaker 2: on this the acting ICE Director put out all of
- 29:56Speaker 2: these numbers that we've talked about here, Yes, about the
- 29:59Speaker 2: number of rapists, yes, that were let go that we
- 30:01Speaker 2: knew were rapists, the number of murderers that were let go,
- 30:04Speaker 2: and the number of those that had been charged with
- 30:06Speaker 2: Haines's crimes, and we still let go into this country.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And that didn't see the light of day tonight.
- 30:12Speaker 2: And it's again it goes back to the moderators, like,
- 30:15Speaker 2: it's shame on them for not actually talking about the
- 30:18Speaker 2: Acting ICE Director saying this when they're going to talk
- 30:21Speaker 2: about the border, how do you talk about the border
- 30:23Speaker 2: without that?
- 30:23Speaker 1: But I do.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And again it's debating's tough, and I want to be clear,
- 30:27Speaker 2: it's tough, But there was a missed opportunity there. I'm
- 30:30Speaker 2: shocked that JAD didn't really try to hammer that that
- 30:33Speaker 2: point home.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, look, I think JD did a very good
- 30:36Speaker 3: job tonight. I was surprised that the thirteen thousand convicted
- 30:41Speaker 3: murderers did not come up. It's such a powerful number
- 30:45Speaker 3: and CBS hasn't covered it, the news hasn't covered it,
- 30:48Speaker 3: And so this debate was an opportunity for That's actually
- 30:52Speaker 3: something that I wish that like it had been slowly
- 30:56Speaker 3: explained that they'd taken a little bit of time. You
- 30:59Speaker 3: need to unders stand that right now today there are
- 31:03Speaker 3: more than thirteen thousand illegal aliens who are free, who
- 31:09Speaker 3: have not been apprehended, who are convicted murderers. There is
- 31:15Speaker 3: nothing whatsoever stopping Kamala Harris from picking up all thirteen
- 31:20Speaker 3: thousand of them tomorrow. Legally, she has every right to
- 31:24Speaker 3: do so. They are here illegally, they can be detained,
- 31:28Speaker 3: they can be deported. And yet and there are another
- 31:31Speaker 3: two thousand roughly illegal aliens who have pending murder charges,
- 31:38Speaker 3: so they're being charged with murder, and you know what,
- 31:40Speaker 3: they're free too. There is nothing zero preventing Kamala Harris
- 31:46Speaker 3: from picking up those two thousand. And I would have
- 31:48Speaker 3: loved to see JD turn to Tim Walts and say, Governor,
- 31:52Speaker 3: why doesn't Kamala Harris pick up those fifteen thousand murderers
- 31:57Speaker 3: right now? And what would you say to the mothers
- 32:01Speaker 3: of the children murdered by these illegal alien murderers that
- 32:05Speaker 3: you continue to allow on the street. Yeah, he wouldn't
- 32:08Speaker 3: have an answer to that.
- 32:09Speaker 1: No, he wouldn't have an answer to that.
- 32:10Speaker 2: And look again, like I said, debating is hard, and
- 32:13Speaker 2: I think one of the things that he did really
- 32:14Speaker 2: well was he talked about the fact that people are
- 32:18Speaker 2: suffering in this country because there's so many illegal immigrants,
- 32:21Speaker 2: and it backfired on CBS. They were talking about the
- 32:24Speaker 2: economy and they were talking about the housing crisis. It
- 32:27Speaker 2: was a little bit later in the debate. Many people,
- 32:28Speaker 2: if you didn't watch the whole debate, this was one
- 32:30Speaker 2: of those moments. I think they actually buried it on purpose.
- 32:34Speaker 2: They need to check a box, ask a question about
- 32:36Speaker 2: the about housing. But there was a moment there where
- 32:39Speaker 2: JD van sees on like, well, yeah, of course home
- 32:41Speaker 2: prices are going.
- 32:42Speaker 1: To be up.
- 32:43Speaker 2: You let fifteen to twenty million people in this country,
- 32:45Speaker 2: they got to have a roof over their head at night.
- 32:48Speaker 2: They're competing with you, especially for low cost housing and apartments,
- 32:52Speaker 2: which is skyrocket and price undoubtedly.
- 32:55Speaker 3: And CBS really beclowned themselves on this because because one
- 32:58Speaker 3: of the moderators chimed in and said, well do you
- 33:00Speaker 3: have any evidence of that? What proof do you have
- 33:02Speaker 3: of that? And JD, to his credit, was prepared and said, well,
- 33:05Speaker 3: actually there's a Federal Reserve study that lays out the
- 33:08Speaker 3: impact of illegal immigration driving up the cost of housing,
- 33:11Speaker 3: and we'll put that out on social media right now
- 33:13Speaker 3: so you can go read the study. But he also
- 33:15Speaker 3: made the point of just supply and demand. What do
- 33:18Speaker 3: you think an additional eleven and a half million people
- 33:21Speaker 3: is going to be bending housing is going to do?
- 33:24Speaker 3: Do you do these houses magically get created from the sky?
- 33:27Speaker 3: Is there a wand that makes makes them come into existence?
- 33:30Speaker 3: And the moderators just didn't like that point, and so
- 33:36Speaker 3: they were but they looked pretty silly when they asked
- 33:39Speaker 3: if he had any evidence, and the answer was, well, yes.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I love The other day on TV they were talking
- 33:43Speaker 2: about the price of hotels in New York City of skyrocketed. Yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 2: because I think it's like one out of x summer
- 33:48Speaker 2: of every hotels is filled with illegal immigrants.
- 33:51Speaker 1: They're taking away hotel room of course.
- 33:54Speaker 2: So then they get more for the hotel rooms that
- 33:57Speaker 2: are available. You and I I don't even know if
- 34:00Speaker 2: did you know I got stranded in New York City
- 34:03Speaker 2: and there wasn't a single hotel room after we came
- 34:06Speaker 2: back from the airport.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Did I tell you this? So this is how bad
- 34:09Speaker 1: it is.
- 34:09Speaker 2: And this is when I learned like really, firsthand, I
- 34:12Speaker 2: went the airport, was on the plane, was on the
- 34:14Speaker 2: plane for like four hours. They finally cancel the fight.
- 34:17Speaker 2: We pulled back up the gate and they say go
- 34:18Speaker 2: back in the city. So immediately get on the phone.
- 34:20Speaker 2: I called Fox. I'm there for TV. I'm like, hey,
- 34:22Speaker 2: I'm going to need a hotel room. And I got
- 34:23Speaker 2: to get back to the city. And then I get
- 34:25Speaker 2: into a fight back in the morning to Houston, and
- 34:27Speaker 2: she was like, no problem, I'll callit in a minute.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Go ahead and head down the cars and we'll get
- 34:31Speaker 2: you back to the city. She said, I've never seen
- 34:33Speaker 2: this before. There's not a single hotel room in the city.
- 34:37Speaker 2: And I'm like not. And it wasn't like there was
- 34:40Speaker 2: like the super Bowl going on. This is a normal
- 34:42Speaker 2: Tuesday in New York. And I was like, are you kidding. Well,
- 34:45Speaker 2: then I open up my app and I'm like, I
- 34:46Speaker 2: get on Expedia. There are no hotel rooms. They start
- 34:50Speaker 2: looking in New Jersey, They're looking everywhere. Finally, the only
- 34:54Speaker 2: option was to go back to the city and hope
- 34:56Speaker 2: that someone doesn't come to a hotel room. I set
- 35:00Speaker 2: outside of the hotel. I always stay at know the
- 35:02Speaker 2: manager and I walked in. He's like, Benny, He's like,
- 35:05Speaker 2: this is because of all the illegal immigrants in the city.
- 35:07Speaker 2: He goes, there's no hotel rooms to deal with a capacity.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I set outside to one in the morning until finally
- 35:13Speaker 2: someone canceled the hotel and then he checked me into
- 35:15Speaker 2: that room at one o'clock. So I sat there from
- 35:17Speaker 2: seven to one am. My fight was at six and
- 35:20Speaker 2: mornings I slept for like three hours. And he said,
- 35:22Speaker 2: this is what they've done to our city, referring to
- 35:24Speaker 2: the illegal immigrants and how many have come in. And
- 35:28Speaker 2: when I say there was an it was there was
- 35:30Speaker 2: not a hotel room in the city. That's what's happening
- 35:33Speaker 2: now because of legal immigration Centater. I want to talk
- 35:36Speaker 2: and wrap on the issue of style. You know, you
- 35:39Speaker 2: and I both thought this was going to be a
- 35:42Speaker 2: intense debate. They don't like each other, They're going to
- 35:44Speaker 2: throw down. I think we're also gotten kind of used
- 35:46Speaker 2: to that with Donald Trump. That's what we've seen over
- 35:49Speaker 2: the last several years. Joe Biden likes to do that
- 35:51Speaker 2: as well. We've seen a lot of the Republican debates
- 35:55Speaker 2: primary debates.
- 35:56Speaker 3: By the way Hillary and Trump was nasty. They were
- 35:57Speaker 3: Bill nasty.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean down and tonight I didn't.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I did enjoy a little bit of civility, absolutely, and
- 36:06Speaker 2: that was something we haven't seen. But I also think
- 36:10Speaker 2: if it was a strategy by the by the Trump team,
- 36:13Speaker 2: Hey you're gonna be the likable guy. You're gonna try
- 36:16Speaker 2: to bring more people into the tent. I want you
- 36:19Speaker 2: to walk away really thinking that you're the right choice.
- 36:23Speaker 2: They nailed it. If that was the intent tonight.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, I think JD came across as as real
- 36:29Speaker 3: and relatable. He did a good job of telling his
- 36:32Speaker 3: own family story and his own background, I mean his
- 36:36Speaker 3: you know, he wrote a best selling book, Hill Billy LG.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Was made into a movie, a very very good movie,
- 36:43Speaker 3: a movie that's terrific to watch. And but yet a
- 36:46Speaker 3: lot of people don't know that story. He's been a
- 36:48Speaker 3: caricatured just just like Trump has. And and I think
- 36:53Speaker 3: tonight made real progress making him seem like a real person,
- 36:58Speaker 3: seem like a husband and a father, and and you know,
- 37:01Speaker 3: someone who is has has journeyed from very humble beginnings
- 37:06Speaker 3: to to right now being the nominee to be vice
- 37:10Speaker 3: president of the United States. That's that's one heck of
- 37:12Speaker 3: a journey.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Make sure you share this podcast with your family and
- 37:15Speaker 2: your friends, and I'll see you back here tomorrow
