- 1:06Speaker 1: help you promote your book with my book, It's called
- 1:09Speaker 1: Mama's Banana Pudding, which is a compilation of recipes that
- 1:12Speaker 1: were given to her by her mother. Please welcome to
- 1:16Speaker 1: money Man Conversations, Littra Garland, Good morning, Good morning. How
- 1:23Speaker 1: you doing this, Garland? I'm doing fine. How about you?
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'm doing really good. Thank you for coming on the show.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Thank you for being a fantastic baker that you are.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Tell us about this book. I've read the book. I'm
- 1:34Speaker 1: gonna point out some things I like about this book,
- 1:36Speaker 1: and I like a lot of things because you everybody
- 1:37Speaker 1: knows I'm a dessert nut. So but you helped me
- 1:40Speaker 1: out on buy three recipes. But let's tell me about
- 1:43Speaker 1: the book. Okay, okay. First of all, I just want
- 1:46Speaker 1: to thank you for having me on your show. I
- 1:48Speaker 1: feel really blessed and on it to be on the show. Um.
- 1:52Speaker 1: This book, UM was thought of because of the recipes
- 1:57Speaker 1: that were given to me by my mother, which took
- 1:59Speaker 1: her whever in me. And once I got him, I
- 2:03Speaker 1: had to figure out measurements because you know, they never
- 2:06Speaker 1: get the measure So the thing was fivoring out measurements
- 2:09Speaker 1: and I don't even know what they used because she
- 2:12Speaker 1: never gave me any measurements. So I just started asking
- 2:14Speaker 1: her for a lot of recipes like, hey, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I remember grandma used to make that pound cake? How
- 2:19Speaker 1: does she make that pound cake? What the great grandma
- 2:22Speaker 1: used to make? So I just decided to put them
- 2:24Speaker 1: all in a book. I wanted to give my kids
- 2:26Speaker 1: something to pass on to their children and hopefully for
- 2:30Speaker 1: many generations to come. Well, I'm changing something. It is
- 2:34Speaker 1: so funny that she talks like that. But older people
- 2:38Speaker 1: who make you know if you because you never noticed
- 2:41Speaker 1: that when your kid, you know, are you? Are you?
- 2:43Speaker 1: All you see is the results of that of that
- 2:46Speaker 1: baking or cookie moment. But when you go ask your
- 2:49Speaker 1: grandmother or even your mother, depending on how old she is,
- 2:53Speaker 1: how she made that, she gonna actually be Frustrated're gonna
- 2:56Speaker 1: frustrated because she don't have time to be telling you
- 2:59Speaker 1: whether that was a up or a quarter teaspoon, or
- 3:03Speaker 1: because they just grab stuff. My mama, she just she
- 3:06Speaker 1: just just grabbed some some some some flower, put it
- 3:08Speaker 1: in there, sifted real good, and next thing you know,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm looking at the pound cake or a German chocolate cake,
- 3:15Speaker 1: or sweepertato pie or banana putting up become pie, oh
- 3:20Speaker 1: or seven up cake. I'm calling that recipes and she
- 3:23Speaker 1: got in this bad book called Mama's Banana Putting. I'm
- 3:27Speaker 1: telling something. I read this book, young lady. I'm telling
- 3:29Speaker 1: here's a deal. You know I can I can tell everybody.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I can bait. Now when when you go through a
- 3:33Speaker 1: book and you see stuff that you didn't do when
- 3:37Speaker 1: you were baking, like old fashioned bread pudding. Now, I
- 3:42Speaker 1: never had a vanilla rum sauce. Okay, okay, you gave
- 3:47Speaker 1: that to me now for literally with a little heavy
- 3:50Speaker 1: cream cup with sugar, unsalted butter, vanilla axstract and roma.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I got all that in the cabinet right now. I'm
- 3:58Speaker 1: gonna tell you something mis Garland left because you know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: you know, I used the regular white bread. I left
- 4:03Speaker 1: seven white breads in paper tiers so they can be stale,
- 4:07Speaker 1: so I can break them up so the marf so
- 4:10Speaker 1: I get home tonight to be stales. So I'm gonna
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna bake this tonight and then in the morning,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna make this vanilla rum sauce. I'm
- 4:17Speaker 1: gonna bring it to my staff so they can taste it. Okay,
- 4:22Speaker 1: care are you doing it? And then and so so
- 4:24Speaker 1: when you give these little tidbits like this, and also
- 4:27Speaker 1: I love the fact that my bacorm pies are good.
- 4:30Speaker 1: But I never never this half a cup this become
- 4:34Speaker 1: pie topping though, you yeah, yeah, come on now, and
- 4:38Speaker 1: you're scaring me. You're scaring me because I was wondering
- 4:40Speaker 1: how people got their bacorm pies and look so pretty.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Minds of everybody loves them, but they don't look pretty.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Now I know what this become pie topping. How my
- 4:50Speaker 1: bacorm pie gonna look pretty? Sure is That's exactly what
- 4:54Speaker 1: I was going after, just trying to make look pretty
- 4:57Speaker 1: and they But but you know what tastes good now?
- 4:59Speaker 1: Because she got the classics in there, sweeper takeo pie,
- 5:03Speaker 1: peach cobbler, all that good stuff, that Thanksgiving stuff, that
- 5:09Speaker 1: Christmas stuff, that Easter food, that Fourth for July food,
- 5:13Speaker 1: that Memorial Day food, that Labor Day food. She got
- 5:18Speaker 1: it in the book. Here Mama's banana putting. Now, how
- 5:21Speaker 1: do you buy this book? Come on that miss Garlic
- 5:22Speaker 1: God Taber now because I'm selling you big here on
- 5:25Speaker 1: the show. Now. Thank you, thank you so much. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: really appreciate it. You can get the book from Amazon.

- 5:34Speaker 1: can just go to my website with this pipe Face
- 5:37Speaker 1: dessert shop dot com and it has all the links
- 5:39Speaker 1: to the book in there telling about that website. What's
- 5:41Speaker 1: just the purpose of that website. What do you do
- 5:43Speaker 1: on that website? UM, it's the purpose. It's my business,
- 5:48Speaker 1: which is the catering business that I started here in Texas. UM.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I started the business after we moved here. UM have
- 5:56Speaker 1: falling on kind of hard times. Husband had a free accident,
- 5:59Speaker 1: so I had to figure out a way to get
- 6:02Speaker 1: some extra money because we moved to a city in
- 6:04Speaker 1: the state where we had no family, so we really
- 6:07Speaker 1: didn't have any support from anyone. So I was just
- 6:10Speaker 1: trying to make extra money, and I said, you know what,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna start baking. I started baking first, and the
- 6:14Speaker 1: first thing I made was at banana putting in. For
- 6:17Speaker 1: some reason, everybody loved the banana putting in. Ask my
- 6:21Speaker 1: go to dessert till this day here in Texas. They
- 6:24Speaker 1: love it. So I decided to just go full fledge
- 6:27Speaker 1: into business, try to. I want to create a better
- 6:29Speaker 1: life for my kids, you know, be able to do
- 6:31Speaker 1: more things. Especially I have a teen year old fund
- 6:34Speaker 1: my daughter's going to college, so I won't have her help.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So I need to be around. Look at her help
- 6:41Speaker 1: get away. I gotta get away. He's a big help.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I do admit that she's a very big help, especially
- 6:48Speaker 1: with my friend. Let's talk about these are raising become cookies.
- 6:54Speaker 1: She got teacakes. Now, I'm gonna tell you something. Teacakes
- 6:57Speaker 1: take you back as a kid. Now, not everybody does
- 7:00Speaker 1: teacakes anymore. That's a that's a that's an awesome recipe
- 7:04Speaker 1: to have peanut butter cookies. And did she did? She
- 7:07Speaker 1: threw me for a lukewid how to make buttercan ice cream? Girl?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Oh so man, I saw that. I would Lord Ammercy,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I gotta go give me an ice cream maker. I
- 7:20Speaker 1: gotta come back here and make some because I remember
- 7:23Speaker 1: that took me back my dad. We didn't have much,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but we had an ice cream maker. But he put
- 7:28Speaker 1: the rocks at around that little bucket and I'll just
- 7:30Speaker 1: be spinning it. I would just be spinning it. We
- 7:33Speaker 1: was in the hood, were deep in the hood making
- 7:35Speaker 1: ice cream. I mean all this threw up on like
- 7:42Speaker 1: Chi used to make ice cream for every event. Everything.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We had ice cream all the time, and they loved
- 7:47Speaker 1: ice cream. So I contacted her and asking her for
- 7:50Speaker 1: crean information and just my owner spining her. After I
- 7:54Speaker 1: started doing it, and then I came up with that,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, I'm put butter a cunt in
- 7:59Speaker 1: my ice soul. You gotta put your spin on in
- 8:02Speaker 1: that just you can just repeat what they told you. You
