- 0:08Speaker 1: My Next Guest has helped to start and grow six
- 0:10Speaker 1: successful companies as largest one hundred million dollars and annual revenues.
- 0:14Speaker 1: That's a lot of money. She has become successful by
- 0:17Speaker 1: implementing spiritual principles into her eventuals, into adventures, and it
- 0:21Speaker 1: has her passion to pass her knowledge on to others.
- 0:24Speaker 1: She's the author of the best selling book The Path
- 0:26Speaker 1: to Wealth and her latest book that we will be
- 0:29Speaker 1: talking about on the show today, the Gratitude Formula, a
- 0:32Speaker 1: seven steps success system to create a life that you love. Please,
- 0:36Speaker 1: welcome to money Making Conversation. Made McCarthy, Oh, thank you
- 0:41Speaker 1: so much for having me on. Well, thank you for
- 0:44Speaker 1: being on my show, and thank you for allowing me
- 0:47Speaker 1: getting that book to me, allowing me to an opportunity
- 0:49Speaker 1: to read it. But before we get started, you know,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm a nosy guy. I'd like to know more about individuals.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And I see that I want to see that you
- 0:57Speaker 1: have a retreat coming up in January? Is that wrecked?
- 1:01Speaker 1: I do? It's an intentions retreat. Okay, January, which is
- 1:08Speaker 1: next year a Unity village, Unity Village, Missouri. Tell us
- 1:12Speaker 1: about that mate retreat and what the purpose of a
- 1:15Speaker 1: retreat that you put on. Well, you know, I loved
- 1:18Speaker 1: your introduction because you were, um, you know, really hitting
- 1:23Speaker 1: at home that you have to plan in order to
- 1:26Speaker 1: be successful. You have to know it what you want
- 1:29Speaker 1: and you have to make a plan. If you don't
- 1:32Speaker 1: plan and have some sort of vision on where you
- 1:36Speaker 1: want to go, you're just like a boat without a rudder.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You're just gonna address. So what we do in an
- 1:43Speaker 1: Intentions retreat is we really uncover what was good and
- 1:48Speaker 1: what did you not feel was so good for the
- 1:52Speaker 1: previous year, and we let those things go. Then we
- 1:55Speaker 1: make a real plan for what is gonna look like.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I want to get a vision from each and every person, UM,
- 2:03Speaker 1: so that if they got to December one and they
- 2:07Speaker 1: turned around and looked at what their year produced, I
- 2:12Speaker 1: want to know what they hope to see. Then what
- 2:15Speaker 1: we do is we get that down on paper, We
- 2:18Speaker 1: get that down in in powerful word statements, We get
- 2:21Speaker 1: that down in a daily practice of reviewing those goals
- 2:25Speaker 1: regularly and also making sure that they're calm enough to
- 2:31Speaker 1: recognize what Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Albert Einstein,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and I use, which is something that because you can't
- 2:40Speaker 1: see it, I call it spiritual, but it's intuition. It's
- 2:43Speaker 1: that gut instinct and those subconscious messages that are going
- 2:47Speaker 1: to show up and point the direction for us to
- 2:50Speaker 1: take action on a path to achieve those goals. So
- 2:55Speaker 1: it's a lot of work. We're going to go deep.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's very empowerful, empowering, and very very fun. It's at
- 3:02Speaker 1: Unity Village, which is just about thirty five miles away
- 3:05Speaker 1: from Kansas City Airport right and can see the airport
- 3:09Speaker 1: is right bout a hundred miles away from Kansas City.
- 3:14Speaker 1: That is, the airport is so far away from kNs
- 3:17Speaker 1: like wow, man, I mean another state, But it does
- 3:20Speaker 1: feel that way. It does feel like can I go there?
- 3:23Speaker 1: It's a long ride. Just preparing my my, my, my,
- 3:25Speaker 1: my listeners. If they go they landed, they land the airport,
- 3:28Speaker 1: it's gonna be a ride. It's gonna be a ride.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And that's all good because they're going there for an
- 3:33Speaker 1: event that no, this is I'm assuming by what you're
- 3:35Speaker 1: speaking that's an annual event. Well, this will be the
- 3:40Speaker 1: first time that we do the Unity Village. If we've
- 3:42Speaker 1: done it up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: something like it up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Carolina,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and you're trying to put it in a location in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the Northwest. But this will be the first time that
- 3:55Speaker 1: we do it in at Unity Village, and I'm so excited.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It can be great. Right, So where are you based
- 4:01Speaker 1: at me? I'm I'm based in Texas, and so when
- 4:05Speaker 1: I was listening to the weather report right before you
- 4:08Speaker 1: came on, I was thinking, Wow, that ninety four degrees
- 4:11Speaker 1: sounds great. We've had a hundred degrees where I live.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Oh well, you know, I live in Atlanta, just in
- 4:17Speaker 1: Houston this past weekend and we were dealing with ninety
- 4:20Speaker 1: six in Houston this past weekend, so, you know, across
- 4:24Speaker 1: the time. And my vacation home, which is where we're
- 4:26Speaker 1: at now, is on Lake Conro, not very far from Houston. Absolutely,
- 4:30Speaker 1: May and I just getting together. We on that same
- 4:33Speaker 1: energy path. That's why I'm she's on the show. And
- 4:36Speaker 1: now when I when I was now, let's talk about
- 4:38Speaker 1: this title. The name of your business be as Easy
- 4:41Speaker 1: you all t Z results. Where did that come from? Well,
- 4:45Speaker 1: that's the what we do is we accelerate business results.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So it's a play on business results. And that particular
- 4:56Speaker 1: company has a number of different arms. The first is
- 5:00Speaker 1: speaking and teaching around the world, so we do public events,
- 5:04Speaker 1: but we also do a lot of private events. And
- 5:07Speaker 1: then I also have executive consulting. I'll work with mostly
- 5:12Speaker 1: ceo s or executive leadership. I'm really trying to figure
- 5:16Speaker 1: out a way to achieve that next level of success.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And then the other part is are the books and
- 5:23Speaker 1: other materials that we create. I have another company which
- 5:27Speaker 1: is my angel investment company, my real estate holdings UM
- 5:31Speaker 1: and other things that I do to produce your revenue. No,
- 5:36Speaker 1: let measure this because I've heard this this this angel investor.
- 5:42Speaker 1: What exactly is an angel investor? An angel investor is
- 5:48Speaker 1: a high net worth individual who may not know the
- 5:54Speaker 1: venture that's out fundraising. So usually in a startup, and
- 5:59Speaker 1: I've had six, well seven startups, um, And in a startup,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you usually go through the phases of boots trapping, so
- 6:09Speaker 1: use your own money. I remember mortgaging a couple of
- 6:12Speaker 1: properties and and you know, selling everything that I had
- 6:16Speaker 1: in order to get businesses started. UM. So you boots trap.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Usually the founder and anybody else that might be a
- 6:22Speaker 1: partner gets involved in that stage. After you prove that
- 6:27Speaker 1: some stuff is working, then you go to your friends
- 6:30Speaker 1: and family stage. These are people that know your character,
- 6:35Speaker 1: that know you. You don't have to be as formal
- 6:39Speaker 1: because you know they've known you for a very long
- 6:41Speaker 1: time and trust your ability to execute on a business plan.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So bill come in for money the very first time
- 6:49Speaker 1: that you go out. Two investors that are not part
- 6:54Speaker 1: of that friends and family group. Those are angel investors.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm not exactly sure how we got the title, but
- 7:04Speaker 1: if you look at the show Shark Tank, those are
- 7:08Speaker 1: angel investors. And now, granted they're much wealthier and when
- 7:12Speaker 1: they invest they have a lot more zeros. Most of
- 7:15Speaker 1: the time, angel investors will come in when the company
- 7:19Speaker 1: is an early stage company may be valued up to
- 7:24Speaker 1: five or ten million dollars for that seed round of
- 7:29Speaker 1: angel investment, and then they go into A rounds and
- 7:32Speaker 1: B rounds, and then you get the venture capitalists that
- 7:35Speaker 1: come in after angel investors. Well, thank you. I really
- 7:38Speaker 1: needed to know that because I guess what I've said,
- 7:41Speaker 1: it never had anybody I would say I'm with an
- 7:43Speaker 1: expert that's purpose of the show, talk to experts. Experts,
- 7:46Speaker 1: give you the information now when we come back on
- 7:48Speaker 1: our next breaks about the book the Gratitude Formula, a
- 7:52Speaker 1: seven step success system to create a life that you love.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Talking to May McCarthy when our first question is going
- 7:59Speaker 1: to be what is your personal definition of well, so
- 8:03Speaker 1: prepare yourself, May, I'm coming back with that question first
- 8:06Speaker 1: right out your book. All right, This is Rashan McDonald
- 8:10Speaker 1: and welcome back to money making conversations on the phone.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Is Uh, I'm gonna call a good friend of mine
- 8:15Speaker 1: because she's in Texas. Only good things happened in Texas.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Because I'm a Texas boy, I'm gonna say that out.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You're born to ras come on now. And so she's
- 8:24Speaker 1: the CEO of Bisults, she's a serial entrepreneurship. Explain to
- 8:28Speaker 1: us with angel investors this chapter here, I wanted to
- 8:31Speaker 1: talk about the book that I read. And then my
- 8:33Speaker 1: my staff I was driving crazy, maybe because I read
- 8:36Speaker 1: the books the day of, So they go, how can
- 8:38Speaker 1: you read a book the day of? Because I always
- 8:41Speaker 1: likely to be fresh. I always like to come into
- 8:43Speaker 1: They sent me a pdf. So I always like the
- 8:48Speaker 1: book because I always like be bending pages and underlying
- 8:50Speaker 1: and get my little white marker out. One of the
- 8:52Speaker 1: lines early on in the book and the book we
- 8:54Speaker 1: were talking about is the Gratitude formula, a seven steps
- 8:57Speaker 1: success system to create a life that you love. Your
- 9:00Speaker 1: definition of wealth, because that's really important because sometimes I
- 9:03Speaker 1: always bring that up on my show, what is your
- 9:06Speaker 1: version of wealth? So I as you make what is
- 9:08Speaker 1: your version of wealth? Your definition? My definition of wealth
- 9:12Speaker 1: is to be whole and complete, lacking nothing in all
- 9:18Speaker 1: areas of your life. And when I say all areas,
- 9:21Speaker 1: really what I'm focusing on our six major areas your finances,
- 9:26Speaker 1: the use of your skills and talents or your work,
- 9:29Speaker 1: your relationships, your health, your recreation so that you have
- 9:35Speaker 1: a balanced life that can recreate things. And your spiritual connection.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You know, whatever whatever you feel that you need to
- 9:46Speaker 1: connect to, whether it's God or or the divine or
- 9:50Speaker 1: an inner wisdom, whatever that is that that allows you
- 9:55Speaker 1: to tap in to some intelligence that that stems from
- 9:59Speaker 1: within as the gut instinct, the strong thought of feeling
- 10:03Speaker 1: in your heart and luge um. That kind of connection um,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think shows up more often when you connect to
- 10:11Speaker 1: it more. You know, when you when you talk like this.
- 10:13Speaker 1: When I hear you talk, you know there there there,
- 10:16Speaker 1: You know you have to at one point, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: when you start discussing these values, of these ideas, of
- 10:20Speaker 1: these concepts of where you get your inner strength, where
- 10:23Speaker 1: you get your belief of how you are successful, did
- 10:27Speaker 1: you have to go through a period of people question you,
- 10:29Speaker 1: uh that that that that that sounds good, that sounds hokey,
- 10:33Speaker 1: or that sounds like, uh, you know whatever. But I'm
- 10:36Speaker 1: a ride out with my my philosophy and your philosophy works.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Do you understand what I'm trying to ask here? Yeah? Sure,
- 10:43Speaker 1: you know. It's a it's a fine mind to bring
- 10:46Speaker 1: any sort of religious or spiritual belief into your work, right,
- 10:53Speaker 1: And fortunately there are some pioneers like Bill Gates who
- 10:56Speaker 1: sit often you have to rely on intuition, and Steve
- 10:59Speaker 1: Jobs from out Well said, you have to have courage
- 11:03Speaker 1: to rely on your heart and intuition. And Oprah Winfrey
- 11:06Speaker 1: said she's listened to that still small voice of intuition
- 11:09Speaker 1: every day of her life, and the only time that
- 11:11Speaker 1: she's made mistakes is when she does st liveson. So
- 11:16Speaker 1: all of them, including Steven Spielberg, Thomas Sentisen, Albert Einstein
- 11:21Speaker 1: and so many more were the trailblazers in talking about
- 11:26Speaker 1: this kind of thing. So what I did in my
- 11:28Speaker 1: last two companies, but more importantly in my last company
- 11:32Speaker 1: because we were acquired by a fortune two and in
- 11:36Speaker 1: my last company, I decided I wanted to bring this
- 11:39Speaker 1: source of intuition. And I don't really care what people
- 11:41Speaker 1: called it, because it's none of my business what people
- 11:44Speaker 1: believe spiritually or religiously. But I knew there was a
- 11:48Speaker 1: source of intuition, and I brought it into my company
- 11:52Speaker 1: and I called it the Chief Spiritual Officer or CSO.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And you know, it was in my c suite like
- 11:58Speaker 1: the CFO in the CEO. I put it at the
- 12:02Speaker 1: top of my organ chart, and I, as the CEO,
- 12:05Speaker 1: reported to it. So naturally my employees to ask me,
- 12:08Speaker 1: who in the world is a CSO? Is it a
- 12:10Speaker 1: man or a woman? Do we get to meet them?
- 12:13Speaker 1: And my comment was, look, this is a principle. And
- 12:17Speaker 1: here's the principle. If you run into a customer that's
- 12:21Speaker 1: I rate or upset, I want you to stop, take
- 12:25Speaker 1: some deep breaths and think about that customer being happy.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And I want you to think about that customer getting
- 12:33Speaker 1: what they need in order to operate optimally. And as
- 12:37Speaker 1: you start using gratitude statements for that, you may just
- 12:41Speaker 1: get an innovative or creative idea. And when that happens,
- 12:46Speaker 1: I want you to let me know, because that's the
- 12:48Speaker 1: CSO principal. And I tell you what I received, text messages,
- 12:54Speaker 1: um emails, phone calls from my employees saying, oh my gosh,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I can't believe it. UM. I went in fully expecting
- 13:02Speaker 1: to have the customer upset, and I kept saying, I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: grateful that they're happy that I walked in, and they said,
- 13:08Speaker 1: guess what, it's not your fault. We found the error
- 13:11Speaker 1: in our system and everything's working fine. That happened over
- 13:16Speaker 1: and over and over again. And for our salespeople, they
- 13:19Speaker 1: were guided and directed to so many different weird, you know,
- 13:25Speaker 1: beyond the rational mind situations to become market share leader
- 13:30Speaker 1: in terms of new sales. And we were competing against
- 13:33Speaker 1: twenty companies, so that CSO principle really were if you
- 13:37Speaker 1: stay focused on what you want outcomes to be instead
- 13:40Speaker 1: of the problem, which I appreciate. We're talking to May McCarthy. Uh.
- 13:45Speaker 1: The book we're discussing is the Gratitude Formula, a seven
- 13:48Speaker 1: step success system to create a life that you love.
- 13:51Speaker 1: In this book, you will learn the importance of gratitude
- 13:54Speaker 1: as a valuable part of a daily system for success
- 13:57Speaker 1: so that you can experience more of the good things
- 13:59Speaker 1: that you desire, whether you want greater financial freedom, improved health,
- 14:03Speaker 1: satisfying work, harmonious relationships, regular, regular recreation, and the means
- 14:09Speaker 1: to enjoy it. You can use this daily system for
- 14:12Speaker 1: success to enable you to receive all of the things
- 14:15Speaker 1: that you wanted more. That's what when I was reading
- 14:17Speaker 1: the book, it is you the reason I'm enjoying u
- 14:20Speaker 1: this interview with you, because you care a lot of
- 14:22Speaker 1: values that I speak about on the show about self motivation.
- 14:26Speaker 1: A lot of people call in on the show talk
- 14:28Speaker 1: about their faith. Uh and like you said, faith is
- 14:31Speaker 1: whatever you call it, but they have some some divine
- 14:34Speaker 1: force or some that allows you to stay competitive, stay organized,
- 14:39Speaker 1: stay focused. And that's what you're talking about when you're
- 14:42Speaker 1: talking about to see s oh that you put above
- 14:45Speaker 1: the CEO in your life. And it's a lot of
- 14:46Speaker 1: people want to characterize that they need more of a
- 14:50Speaker 1: a defined presence or physical presence, And you're saying all
- 14:53Speaker 1: this is driven by emotion. All is driven by it,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and and an inner gut instinct or intuition that ride
- 15:00Speaker 1: that first thought. And that's why always say on the show,
- 15:02Speaker 1: go with the first thought. If you're going with the
- 15:04Speaker 1: second and third, that's not too good instinct anymore. The
- 15:06Speaker 1: first thought, your first thought is your good instinct, correct, right. Well,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it could come in a number of different ways. For instance, UM,
- 15:15Speaker 1: I don't know if you've been to Cleveland before, but
- 15:18Speaker 1: I had. Yeah, I've had some large customers there because
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's a great hospital town. And I found myself in Cleveland.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I got off the plane, grabbed my bags, got my
- 15:29Speaker 1: rental car, went to the hotel and dropped everything off,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and then I went to the I was going to
- 15:34Speaker 1: go to the closest grocery store it's about five minutes away,
- 15:37Speaker 1: to pick up protein shakes and water and things like that.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And when I got in the car, I had a
- 15:43Speaker 1: very strong thought, that first thought about a grocery store
- 15:47Speaker 1: fifteen minutes a way. Well, that didn't make any sense,
- 15:50Speaker 1: and my rational mind tried to talk me out of it.
- 15:52Speaker 1: But I know, like you, that perhaps that's something that
- 15:56Speaker 1: I need to pay attention to. So I sat there
- 16:00Speaker 1: for a moment and I thought, you know, I should
- 16:01Speaker 1: probably make the drive. Maybe everything will beyond sale. So
- 16:04Speaker 1: he did, and when I was walking into the grocery store,
- 16:09Speaker 1: there was a guy who was walking out who I recognized.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I met him six months before at a trade show.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He represented a giant new customer and he was not
- 16:19Speaker 1: returning any of my phone calls or emails for an appointment,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and here we are face to face. So while while
- 16:25Speaker 1: I was talking to him, he said, look, while you're
- 16:27Speaker 1: in town, come make a presentation. Well that led to
- 16:30Speaker 1: another presentation and another presentation and a contract worth over
- 16:34Speaker 1: four hundred thousand dollars, which was my goal that I
- 16:38Speaker 1: was revisiting every single day. Wow, because that's the way
- 16:42Speaker 1: this works. Absolutely. You know. I know we're running time
- 16:45Speaker 1: on a time on this interview, and I want to
- 16:47Speaker 1: bring you back in May. I hopefully enjoying this interview
- 16:50Speaker 1: with me because I want to bring up this moment,
- 16:52Speaker 1: a shareable moment in your book, and it was about
- 16:54Speaker 1: when you went to visit your sister because I was
- 16:57Speaker 1: diagnosed with thyro cancer and the root then the way
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was in your direct cancers in the throat area
- 17:06Speaker 1: and so if you go to your and I go
- 17:08Speaker 1: to annual dental appointment and your doctor appointment, and they
- 17:11Speaker 1: all they all do the net chats, you know, they check,
- 17:14Speaker 1: you know, they'll feel around they go, they're feeling for lungs.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That's what they're feeling for. And usually if you they
- 17:19Speaker 1: feel something, that usually is the first sign of thyrod cancer.
- 17:23Speaker 1: And now I passed these tests in December and I'm
- 17:25Speaker 1: in January. I'm listening to I'm having a meeting, a
- 17:29Speaker 1: general meeting with my blood doctor. And she's running there too,
- 17:32Speaker 1: blown blood tests. And so she's asked me, this is
- 17:35Speaker 1: the same thing. If you read a book, you're talking
- 17:37Speaker 1: about a similar situation where she went in to see
- 17:40Speaker 1: a doctor. And in this situation where it started with
- 17:43Speaker 1: her sister, her sister just saying, hey, she knows something
- 17:45Speaker 1: on her leg. Won't you go see a doctor. She
- 17:48Speaker 1: goes to the doctor. My situation with this blood was
- 17:50Speaker 1: like I could have easily went, hey, just take my
- 17:54Speaker 1: blood and go home so I can go home. She said, well,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I just touch your neck and just check. And when
- 17:59Speaker 1: she and she and she felt a lung. Now I
- 18:01Speaker 1: went to two other people who have told me they
- 18:04Speaker 1: were cool with this lung right went through the whole process,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and she told me and she said, well, do you
- 18:10Speaker 1: mind if I check if I do a biopsy on
- 18:14Speaker 1: that same thing that May does in her book, and
- 18:18Speaker 1: in her situation, she would diagnose with early stage of
- 18:20Speaker 1: cancer which became very cutable. Same thing in my situation,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'll diagnosed with h with direct cancer and right now,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I'm uh. I've been cancer free since that diagnosis and
- 18:33Speaker 1: since that surgery. So I find your life very relatable
- 18:36Speaker 1: to mine. May, and that is why I want to
- 18:38Speaker 1: tell you that I want to bring you back on
- 18:40Speaker 1: the show, especially to promote your upcompany event in Unity Village,
- 18:44Speaker 1: because you're special and I want to remind you that
- 18:46Speaker 1: and all my viewers and listeners that this is the
- 18:49Speaker 1: book that everybody should buy.
