- 0:23Speaker 1: to discuss their book A Miracle Marriage, I Forgive You,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I Trust You, I Believe You, Volume one. They state
- 0:31Speaker 1: that marriage is sacred, marriage is powerful, but marriage has
- 0:36Speaker 1: also been under attack for quite some time. So on
- 0:40Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations today, we would discuss these things I
- 0:43Speaker 1: mentioned in many upmore things. Please welcome to Money Making Conversations,
- 0:47Speaker 1: JJ and Trina Hashton. How are you pretty good? My friend?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Pretty good? Welcome back to the show. Thank you for
- 0:56Speaker 1: having me. I'm always whether you are well? Uh training
- 1:00Speaker 1: you there, Yes, I'm here. Thank you for having us. Absolutely,
- 1:04Speaker 1: as you saw, I made some comments about myself and
- 1:08Speaker 1: the family and uh and a lot of people when uh,
- 1:11Speaker 1: you know, I'm talking to two entrepreneurs here, small business owners.
- 1:14Speaker 1: People are living their dreams and their dreams are being
- 1:17Speaker 1: put in place through their goal setting, their consistency. Where
- 1:21Speaker 1: is put in perspective before we actually get into into
- 1:24Speaker 1: the book, the role of the family and uh in
- 1:28Speaker 1: in your role of being successful as entrepreneurs. We we
- 1:34Speaker 1: we honestly believe that your family comes first. Believe families
- 1:38Speaker 1: is your first ministry. And now I often say that
- 1:41Speaker 1: God does things in order. He's not gonna bless you
- 1:45Speaker 1: with this you know family, his wife, these children and
- 1:48Speaker 1: then expect you to put them to the side so
- 1:51Speaker 1: that you can build a career um outside of the home.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But we believe that God there's things in order to
- 1:58Speaker 1: that if you build your home and you do it
- 2:00Speaker 1: in the correct way, honoring your wife and teaching your
- 2:03Speaker 1: children the principles of God, that He will set things
- 2:06Speaker 1: in line for you when it comes to your career
- 2:10Speaker 1: and the things that you the people that you need
- 2:12Speaker 1: to meet, the people that you need to connect with.
- 2:14Speaker 1: All of that for us come together when you put
- 2:18Speaker 1: your marriage and your family first, because God is we
- 2:22Speaker 1: believe God is a god of order. So in doing so, UM,
- 2:27Speaker 1: if you if you've read our book, and I believe
- 2:29Speaker 1: you have, and maybe someone else out there has read it. UM,
- 2:33Speaker 1: when things were not in order in our households. Uh,
- 2:38Speaker 1: things were not in order for now that one of
- 2:41Speaker 1: our careers. We didn't know what we wanted to do,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and even the things that we did desire to do
- 2:47Speaker 1: just didn't seem to come together the way we needed
- 2:50Speaker 1: them to come together. UM. But it wasn't until we
- 2:54Speaker 1: decided that we were going to put our family first, UM.
- 2:58Speaker 1: J J And made a decision that he was going
- 3:01Speaker 1: to UM get his family back together at whatever cost
- 3:05Speaker 1: that meant, whether it meant UM having to start all
- 3:08Speaker 1: over career wiz or whatever it meant. He was determined
- 3:12Speaker 1: to put his family back together. And once he did that,
- 3:15Speaker 1: believe it or not, UM, what he started hearing from
- 3:18Speaker 1: God started changing. The music that he started hearing in
- 3:22Speaker 1: his conversation and his relationship with God started to change.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And as a result of that, UM, you see the
- 3:30Speaker 1: j J that you have today, That is the Grammy
- 3:33Speaker 1: nominated and the Stellar winners, UM, and that's traveling all
- 3:36Speaker 1: over the country. That did not happen until we got
- 3:40Speaker 1: our family together. JJ. Your turn, me, I mean, my
- 3:47Speaker 1: life always said it so perfectly. UM. You know, we
- 3:50Speaker 1: we initially and this is probably Um, you can attest
- 3:54Speaker 1: to this as well, Sean. Um. We we got married
- 3:58Speaker 1: before um things really happened for us, and before we started,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we weren't even think about studying businesses and all that.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We just got married and we were still making music
- 4:08Speaker 1: and everything while we were while we were married, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: like my wife said, you know, we've gotten some moderate success,
- 4:16Speaker 1: but things didn't change for us until our our family
- 4:22Speaker 1: was in order, our home was in order. Then we
- 4:24Speaker 1: were actually clear in our minds, we were clear in
- 4:28Speaker 1: our horrors. There was nothing, there was no hinder us
- 4:30Speaker 1: between us and God, and he was able to give
- 4:33Speaker 1: us different visions, different dreams, different ideas that have exploded
- 4:38Speaker 1: on us and and really putt put us another place. So, Um,
- 4:43Speaker 1: we always say family first, home first. God is not
- 4:46Speaker 1: going to trust you to be a blessed to the
- 4:48Speaker 1: world if he can't even trust you with your house. Absolutely,
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's really when I was reading the book, it was
- 4:54Speaker 1: you know, the book is about Trainers truth and j
- 4:57Speaker 1: J's journey. It's it's it's sectioned out throughout a book
- 5:00Speaker 1: like that, and one of the things and we're gonna
- 5:02Speaker 1: go through different sections of the book and I'm not
- 5:03Speaker 1: gonna first of all, as a motivating book. Let me
- 5:05Speaker 1: just tell it's an uplifting book. This is not a
- 5:07Speaker 1: sad book. This is not this is not a testimony
- 5:10Speaker 1: about what we did wrong. It's about about information about
- 5:13Speaker 1: what you can do right. And using their life is
- 5:15Speaker 1: as an example, which is very powerful because a lot
- 5:18Speaker 1: of people don't want to reveal any um missteps in
- 5:22Speaker 1: their life because they're there there, that's the shallow life
- 5:26Speaker 1: that we live. You know. I want to be perfect.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I want to live in life that doesn't have any
- 5:31Speaker 1: negative moments. But that's not truth. Those are not truths.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And that's this book is about truths. And what what
- 5:37Speaker 1: what continually came out of each chapter I read was
- 5:39Speaker 1: they set examples up. They go into the faith, to
- 5:41Speaker 1: go into the Bible and show examples why this happened,
- 5:45Speaker 1: Why Jesus turned water into wine, which would at a
- 5:48Speaker 1: marriage ceremony that he was invited to and he didn't,
- 5:52Speaker 1: he didn't And so these are all important things. And
- 5:55Speaker 1: so I like it because of the fact that you know,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you know, when you walk away from something, you and
- 5:59Speaker 1: your learned something. I learned from this book, and so
- 6:02Speaker 1: I wanted to point this out so I might have
- 6:03Speaker 1: a good time with this book. I'm upa beat with
- 6:05Speaker 1: Sean McDonald's up beat. You know, I walked away. I
- 6:08Speaker 1: walked away. Yeah, I can't wait for this interview. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: got all these posts we're gonna top and uh because
- 6:14Speaker 1: you know, you know my natural background, I'm an uplifting guy.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And so it was one section of the book called
- 6:19Speaker 1: sell phones and passwords. Go sell phones and passwords if
- 6:26Speaker 1: you like. I can put my phone down anywhere in
- 6:29Speaker 1: my house and my wife can pick up my phone
- 6:31Speaker 1: and she she asked me, what's your password? Give it
- 6:33Speaker 1: to her. So many people make mistake with the two phones.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I've never had two phones in my life. First of all, okay,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I have one phone, one phone number. I never understand
- 6:42Speaker 1: the two phone system. Secondly, if if if you put
- 6:46Speaker 1: your phone down in anybody that you love, dating of fiance,
- 6:51Speaker 1: a wife goes towards your phone and you dive into
- 6:53Speaker 1: the phone, then you got a problem. You got a
- 6:57Speaker 1: problem because you got to be honest all levels. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: that's all you're saying in this book, and using the
- 7:03Speaker 1: example of cell phones and password is a great example
- 7:08Speaker 1: from the common folk. We know how we're tied to
- 7:10Speaker 1: that technology, and this technology can be a barrier to
- 7:15Speaker 1: getting your family right, to get your relationship on point correct. Right,
- 7:20Speaker 1: that's so true. I don't I never understood why in
- 7:23Speaker 1: two thousand nineteenes we are still using cell phones or
- 7:28Speaker 1: any kind of electronic device to hide stuff, because as
- 7:32Speaker 1: we know with computers, they can be great, but they
- 7:34Speaker 1: also can be a curse. They can ruin your life.
- 7:37Speaker 1: They will tell every piece about you that you don't want.
- 7:41Speaker 1: If you pick up someone's cell phone these days, it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: almost like into their life. UM. So you got to
- 7:47Speaker 1: be an open book, and you have to be very
- 7:49Speaker 1: transparent with your spouse about everything because as you say it,
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's only going to take a crack of a cell
- 7:56Speaker 1: phone um for them to open up and see what
- 7:59Speaker 1: you've been doing on your off time. Yes, And for
- 8:03Speaker 1: me that that that was part of our rebuilding process,
- 8:06Speaker 1: the fact that we were able to be as transparent
- 8:09Speaker 1: like there's nothing there's no um, there's no site, there's
- 8:14Speaker 1: no page, there's no code that my wife does not
- 8:18Speaker 1: have for me, because we need to be able to
- 8:21Speaker 1: be open with each other there And the thing is
- 8:23Speaker 1: she doesn't have to look, she doesn't even care to
- 8:25Speaker 1: look because she knows. She knows everything, But if there
- 8:28Speaker 1: was something that I kept a secret, then she'd want
- 8:30Speaker 1: to look. After we just open and transparent with each other.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm talking to my man JJ and its wonderful wife Trina.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That JJ and Trina Hashton. We're talking about that book,
- 8:41Speaker 1: The Miracle Marriage. I Forgive You, I trust You, I
- 8:43Speaker 1: Believe You, Volume one, so you know there are many more.
- 8:46Speaker 1: We're gonna come back and talk about that, talk about
- 8:48Speaker 1: their production company, talking about all the projects, the new album,
- 8:51Speaker 1: all those things coming up. But I just wanted to
- 8:54Speaker 1: kick this first part off with the book that everybody
- 8:57Speaker 1: should buy, everybody should have in their relationship closet, Your
- 9:02Speaker 1: Relationship Box. Rashan McDonald, we're back with more Moneymaking Conversation. Hi,
- 9:10Speaker 1: this is Rashan McDonald and I am the host of
- 9:12Speaker 1: Moneymaking Conversations. Were on the phone talking to the Trina
- 9:16Speaker 1: and j J. Harriston reversed this time. I've been saying
- 9:18Speaker 1: j J and Trina Harriston and giving her that respect.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You know, I can flip it like that, and I
- 9:24Speaker 1: have to use myself as an example of a person
- 9:25Speaker 1: who had who lived a flawed life because of the
- 9:28Speaker 1: fact that I didn't understand the balance of family. I
- 9:31Speaker 1: was so focused on reaching my dreams and my goal,
- 9:34Speaker 1: reaching my goals through that would achieved through my dream
- 9:37Speaker 1: my dreams. And I am a goal oriented person. I'm
- 9:40Speaker 1: a multitasking person and I get up at the same
- 9:42Speaker 1: time every day. I am a person who is focused.
- 9:46Speaker 1: What I was I focused on was my family. And
- 9:49Speaker 1: when I read this book that they wrote a miracle marriage,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I forgive you, I trust you, I believe you've alreay want.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It opened my eyes to I am fixing UH some
- 9:59Speaker 1: of the issues that I have. I have fixed a
- 10:02Speaker 1: lot of the issues that I have that the book discussed,
- 10:04Speaker 1: But more importantly, it opened my eyes and that's important
- 10:08Speaker 1: and IM and I'm and I'm accepting of the information
- 10:13Speaker 1: that the book is provided to me. Um when we
- 10:16Speaker 1: talk about the word divorce, and in the in the
- 10:19Speaker 1: book UH training, you talk about when j J asked
- 10:26Speaker 1: for a divorce and j J talked about that moment
- 10:30Speaker 1: because I wanted to talk about my moment so so
- 10:33Speaker 1: people can understand how sometimes when you given the okay,
- 10:38Speaker 1: it really opens your mind and said, wait a minute,
- 10:41Speaker 1: she said, yes, okay, Okay, okay, okay, it's for real now.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And so if and if we allow ourselves to just
- 10:51Speaker 1: just hear the word yes, and then then then take
- 10:54Speaker 1: that moment to say, where do I stand with my
- 10:56Speaker 1: options besides what's standing in front of me? They said, yes,
- 11:00Speaker 1: what's better for me? Then what's standing in front of me?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Just stand there, don't just run out the door. She said, yeah, okay, okay, now, okay,
- 11:07Speaker 1: hold up now, don't don't run out that door now.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And that's what you basically, uh, this an example of
- 11:14Speaker 1: what happened to you. Correct, Yeah, absolutely. I mean. The
- 11:18Speaker 1: thing about my wife was when when we initially talked
- 11:21Speaker 1: about divorce, when I brought up the divorce, she she
- 11:25Speaker 1: never was in favor of it, but she said, I'm
- 11:27Speaker 1: not stopping you to do it. Anything you want to.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You want a divorce, go ahead and file, go ahead
- 11:31Speaker 1: and get it done. I could, I could not do it.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And there's something inside of me that told me that
- 11:39Speaker 1: she was my wife all the rest of my life.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And they honestly, there was a lot more pressure from
- 11:45Speaker 1: the outside from other people trying to get me a
- 11:48Speaker 1: divorce to my wife as opposed to how I really felt. Um.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But when she said, okay, go ahead and do it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It became like you said, very real to me, like
- 11:56Speaker 1: these other people ain't gonna be then they're not my wife,
- 12:00Speaker 1: and not who I need, and then not who God
- 12:02Speaker 1: is assigned to me. So I never did it, and
- 12:05Speaker 1: then God came full circle and answered me and told
- 12:08Speaker 1: me to go get your family together. I never said,
- 12:12Speaker 1: if you go get your family together, I'm gonna do
- 12:13Speaker 1: the standing up. It just said. He just said, go
- 12:16Speaker 1: get your family together. And then once I did, then
- 12:19Speaker 1: he started doing the rest. But it took work, and
- 12:22Speaker 1: that's what we wanted everybody understanding this book. It's not
- 12:24Speaker 1: like you go you said, okay, let's let's let's get married.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Let's get married again. You know you have a beautiful
- 12:29Speaker 1: ceremony and everything is roses. No, there's gonna be some
- 12:32Speaker 1: work that you have to do to rectify what you've
- 12:36Speaker 1: gone through, to rebuild trust and read and to give
- 12:40Speaker 1: each other. Those are all things we talked about in
- 12:42Speaker 1: the book. And it's important. I have this little phrase,
- 12:46Speaker 1: divorce is never a wee conversation. It is a me conversation.
- 12:51Speaker 1: And and that's important people understand that when you when
- 12:55Speaker 1: you are sitting down. You're making that decision by yourself.
- 12:59Speaker 1: You are talking to people. You're not talking to your kids,
- 13:01Speaker 1: You're not talking to your wife that you want to
- 13:03Speaker 1: get out of your life. You just talk to yourself.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You're making these decisions. I'm I'm tired of it, tired
- 13:10Speaker 1: of what? Who are you? Who are you bouncing this
- 13:12Speaker 1: off of? You're crazy back. So divorce is never a
- 13:17Speaker 1: weak conversation. It is a main conversation by yourself. So
- 13:22Speaker 1: stop making decisions by yourself. Read this book. It will
- 13:24Speaker 1: help you more importantly, if you think anything in life,
- 13:29Speaker 1: marriage is a business. It is your number one small
- 13:32Speaker 1: business that you'll ever have in your life. You're an
- 13:35Speaker 1: entrepreneur in this relationship. Putting a perspective here. You have
- 13:41Speaker 1: to work. You have to be part of the process.
- 13:44Speaker 1: You have to get up and say, I got put
- 13:46Speaker 1: time in this marriage today because I'm a business man,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I got to go to work. That's so, that's what
- 13:55Speaker 1: that perspective. Because there's there's no days off, don't get
- 13:59Speaker 1: any sickly, you don't get any any vacation days. It's
- 14:03Speaker 1: a conscious decision that we have to make every day
- 14:06Speaker 1: to learn how to um some part of that day
- 14:10Speaker 1: to learn how to feed your marriage and work and
- 14:13Speaker 1: do things that's going to build your marriage. It's an
- 14:16Speaker 1: every day and you know, quite honestly, sometimes it's an
- 14:20Speaker 1: hour by hour thing when someone is getting on your
- 14:22Speaker 1: nerves and you have an employee that is getting on
- 14:26Speaker 1: your nerves but you need a job done, and um,
- 14:28Speaker 1: it's an hour by hour thing where sometimes you just
- 14:31Speaker 1: have to take it moment by moment, hour by hour,
- 14:34Speaker 1: day by day and say, what are we going to do?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Pull back from the table, what are we going to
- 14:39Speaker 1: do to build this relationship and not tear it apart?
- 14:43Speaker 1: Because it's a covenant. It's more than just a contract.
- 14:48Speaker 1: You find a good a time, you can get out
- 14:49Speaker 1: of a contract. This is this is a this is
- 14:52Speaker 1: a covenant, and it's a covenant made by God. So
- 14:55Speaker 1: it's it's to be taken so much serious, so much
- 14:58Speaker 1: more seriously, and I think we even realize when we're
- 15:02Speaker 1: at the altar um this is something that is binding
- 15:05Speaker 1: us together for the rest of our lives. So when
- 15:08Speaker 1: you look at it that way, my husband always says,
- 15:10Speaker 1: when you when you take divorce off the tables and
- 15:13Speaker 1: you look at it as this is to death, do
- 15:15Speaker 1: us part. Your arguments are different. You're you're the way
- 15:19Speaker 1: you treat someone is different because you know that you
- 15:22Speaker 1: don't want to be living all your life miserable. So
- 15:26Speaker 1: you have to find a way to make these little
- 15:29Speaker 1: things work so that you both can be happy. Um,
- 15:33Speaker 1: neither neither one of us are winning. If we're just
- 15:36Speaker 1: always arguing and always combative. Um, we're just tearing down
- 15:40Speaker 1: the entire relationship. You have to find a way to
- 15:43Speaker 1: make it work, and that's going to take compromises. It's
- 15:46Speaker 1: the most unselfish act. Um. Being married is the most
- 15:51Speaker 1: unselfish act in the world because you're you're always going
- 15:55Speaker 1: to be tied to each other, so you always have
- 15:57Speaker 1: to prioritize and pursue each other. Exactly right, And there's
- 16:01Speaker 1: a quoting the book Marriage is all tied to the
- 16:03Speaker 1: amount of work. And if you're not willing to put
- 16:07Speaker 1: in the work, do not get married. If you're not
- 16:10Speaker 1: willing to put in the work into your business, do
- 16:13Speaker 1: not start a business. If you're not willing to put
- 16:15Speaker 1: in work in the job that you're doing four day
- 16:17Speaker 1: hours a week, change jobs. You have to be committed
- 16:20Speaker 1: to be successful, and marriage is a part of that. Process.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Your family is part of your process, and family tied
- 16:26Speaker 1: to making it number one, meaning that you prioritize the
- 16:29Speaker 1: set up. Because if you if you got all the
- 16:31Speaker 1: success in the world and you go home to a
- 16:35Speaker 1: dysfunctional family, guess what your day are gonna be. Dysfunction.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You're nice gonna be this function. You're gonna wake up
- 16:40Speaker 1: this functional. So fix the family first, and I promise
- 16:45Speaker 1: you this shift to be right. That's called a balanced life.
- 16:47Speaker 1: That's what I preach on this show. Another thing I
- 16:49Speaker 1: wanted to talk about on the show What you Guys,
- 16:51Speaker 1: was talking on the phone having time for each other.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I know we got like three minutes left, but I
- 16:56Speaker 1: wanted to bring that up because that's an issue that
- 16:59Speaker 1: people have. You know, they they talk when they see
- 17:02Speaker 1: each other. You know, because the telephone is the new
- 17:05Speaker 1: flowers to me, you know, send your wife flowers and
- 17:07Speaker 1: your girlfriend flowers, and your send your fiance flowers because
- 17:11Speaker 1: you can you can communicate. Communications is so key because
- 17:15Speaker 1: it's no excuses. Back in the old days, you know,
- 17:17Speaker 1: your roting down telephone, the regular telephone, you couldn't drive.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You you go to work, then you talk. You could
- 17:22Speaker 1: actually drive home and have a conversation. Use that as
- 17:26Speaker 1: valuable communication time for your relationship. Correct, that's what That's
- 17:30Speaker 1: exactly what we do, and we encourage all couples to
- 17:33Speaker 1: find a way to um give each other quality time
- 17:38Speaker 1: and for us because they're both busy. What we what
- 17:41Speaker 1: I vowed is when I'm in my car and I'm driving,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I could be driving our way, I could be driving
- 17:45Speaker 1: three hours away. I called her and we talked the
- 17:48Speaker 1: whole time I'm driving, because that's uninterrupted time between you
- 17:53Speaker 1: and your spouse. And and I don't I don't even
- 17:55Speaker 1: click over. Somebody call me, the text me or whatever.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I answer those texts. I get where I'm on. But
- 18:00Speaker 1: that's time I spend with my wife. And there's been
- 18:03Speaker 1: plenty times I drive on my way home, I talked
- 18:07Speaker 1: to it like get in the garage, because when you
- 18:11Speaker 1: see each other, you say, hey, how you doing, how
- 18:13Speaker 1: would your day? And that's it as opposed to giving
- 18:16Speaker 1: them time when you actually allow each other to talk
- 18:19Speaker 1: out your ideas, talk about your point and talk about
- 18:21Speaker 1: what your dreams are, talking about how you feel, you know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: the things you can really talk through when you're on
- 18:26Speaker 1: the phone in the car. This is amazing, just hearing

- 18:41Speaker 1: on the previous one, Man's doing great? You know what
- 18:44Speaker 1: I found with this one, I wanted to go a
- 18:46Speaker 1: little bit of a different direction. You deserve it a
- 18:48Speaker 1: lot of us to really have a great um reach
- 18:51Speaker 1: into Africa. So we recorded a few African songs and
- 18:55Speaker 1: it's funny just one one of the songs we just
- 18:57Speaker 1: released a video for, I'm part of You have like
- 19:02Speaker 1: in four days and have like five hundred of thousands
- 19:04Speaker 1: of user someone four to some thousands of year because
- 19:07Speaker 1: that's how they consume music. So we wanted to release
- 19:10Speaker 1: music in a way that would really appeal to the
- 19:12Speaker 1: African continent, and it's been really successful so far. Awesome,
