- 0:00Morning, we put the seats really close together so y'all could
- 0:05get warm. Husbands, this is your
- 0:08opportunity to get a snuggle in. I'm just telling you, somebody
- 0:12said it's cold. I said if your favorite football
- 0:14team was playing today, you'd be there with snow on your head.
- 0:17So ain't that cold. My name's Daniel.
- 0:21I'm the lead pastor here at Res Church.
- 0:23Welcome to the Junketique Outlet thrift store.
- 0:29If you're unfamiliar with this place, this is a a dream that
- 0:34has come true that was born from a yard sale, a Calvary Bible for
- 0:39many years and now the profits from this organization go to
- 0:44missions and missions organizations and missionaries
- 0:47and partners all over the world to further Kingdom purposes.
- 0:52There's a, there's a famous line in the story Lord of the Rings
- 0:57where there's a there's this council that gets together
- 0:59trying to figure out how to accomplish this impossible task
- 1:04of destroying this ring of Sauron.
- 1:06And there's these little weak little hobbits that look kind of
- 1:09like kids and, and they volunteer and the council looks
- 1:12at them kind of condescendingly. And there's a famous line where
- 1:15one of them looks at the little hobbits and he goes, 1 does not
- 1:17simply walk into Mordor. Translation.
- 1:25You can't do this. Who are you?
- 1:30I want you to keep that in mind as we read today's text.
- 1:32In our story, we're finishing up a series called Sent this idea
- 1:38that when you were saved, you were also commissioned.
- 1:45When God took you from spiritual death to spiritual life, he
- 1:48actually gave you a purpose. And so we're going to finish
- 1:50this series in Luke 10, starting in verse 17.
- 1:54We'll be reading Luke 1017 through 23 today.
- 1:57If you have your Bible, join with me.
- 2:00We're going to finish off a story of these 72 disciples that
- 2:04are coming back here. Here we go, verse 17 to 72
- 2:08returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to
- 2:18us in your name. And he says Jesus, he said to
- 2:22them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
- 2:28Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents
- 2:32and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing
- 2:36shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in
- 2:41this that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that
- 2:46your names are written in heaven.
- 2:53In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, I
- 2:58thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have
- 3:02hidden these things from the wise and understanding and
- 3:07revealed them to little children.
- 3:10Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
- 3:14All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one
- 3:18knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is
- 3:22except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal
- 3:27him. And then turning to the
- 3:29disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes that see
- 3:34what you see. For I tell you that many
- 3:37prophets and kings desire to see what you see and did not see it
- 3:41and to hear what you hear and did not hear it.
- 3:45Blessed be the word of God. If you're picking up on our
- 3:51story, in week 472 disciples were sent out all into the
- 3:56countryside to preach and proclaim the gospel.
- 3:59And and now they're coming back since 72 came back and returned
- 4:01with what's that word? Joy.
- 4:05Just like everyone who showed up in the cold today, joy, we came
- 4:11back with joy and said, Lord, even the demons is subject to us
- 4:14in your name. Now I want you to think about
- 4:15the story. We're not talking about the 12
- 4:18apostles and we know their names and they wrote books and they're
- 4:20famous. We're talking about 72 regular
- 4:23people with very little training sent out pretty unprepared, no
- 4:27defenses, no money, no preparation, no equipment to
- 4:32preach. What was the very controversial
- 4:34message to what turned out to be a very stubborn people who would
- 4:38eventually kill Jesus for that message?
- 4:43And on this trip, if you're a planner right now, you're
- 4:48thinking so much could go wrong on this trip.
- 4:54They witnessed such supernatural power.
- 4:57Did all they do, They come back and they go there's that scene
- 5:03in the one of the spider man movies where the first time he
- 5:05uses his power and he's like, whoa.
- 5:11And they come back and go whoa, healing miracles, casting out
- 5:17demons. What like what you know, maybe
- 5:22you're here today or, or you're listening to the live stream,
- 5:24but you're thinking like the the the very idea of miracles, the
- 5:27very idea of demons is like a bit overwhelming.
- 5:29You know, it's just, let's allow me to at least finish the story
- 5:35'cause I get it, it was for me too.
- 5:37Of this is, there's a lot here and maybe you don't think much
- 5:40of the spiritual world, but almost every human being can
- 5:46admit that there are many things about this universe that we do
- 5:50not understand and cannot explain.
- 5:53And so if you'll stay curious for a few minutes, maybe as we
- 5:56finish the story, we can address some of those doubts.
- 5:59These disciples return from this journey.
- 6:01They're overjoyed at what happened.
- 6:04And I want you to think about a trip that they took with no
- 6:08prep, no money, no defenses, no help, and came back overjoyed.
- 6:12And here's what I would tell you that is so from my experience,
- 6:15that is so representative of life in line with God.
- 6:23When you're living a life pursuing God, it begins to feel
- 6:28this way when you're willing to risk everything, including their
- 6:31lives for Jesus. Apparently that's joyous.
- 6:37Not easy, not comfortable, might be cold under the tent, but
- 6:44amazing, satisfying Christian. Did you want to know for for
- 6:53many of us Christians, why your faith is boring?
- 7:00You're not actually following Jesus.
- 7:03You, you proclaim Jesus, but are you really pursuing him because
- 7:07he's moving And often where Christ is leading us into unsafe
- 7:12spaces. And the moment that Christians
- 7:15stop pursuing, we start plopping.
- 7:19Do you know what I mean by plopping?
- 7:24Plopping down in pews and chairs, Plopping down in
- 7:28routines and and comfortable friend groups that haven't
- 7:32changed in years. Plopping, getting comfortable.
- 7:36It's like, it's like playing with the wrapping paper and
- 7:40missing the gift. Christian, you can't plop and
- 7:48pursue. You can plop or pursue, but you
- 7:53have to pick one. Look around you real quick.
- 7:56Look around you. Go ahead, Look at all those
- 7:58beautiful people. One of the reasons that I wanted
- 8:02to do a church service here in a parking lot under a tent is
- 8:07guess what? You're not sitting in the same
- 8:08seat you sit in every Sunday now.
- 8:13Some of you actually sat in the same section of chairs that you
- 8:16do in the sanctuary. You made me chuckle.
- 8:19You made me chuckle. I was like, man, we do like our
- 8:22routines. I wanted you to sit in a
- 8:25different seat because the Christian life is about pursuit,
- 8:29not about getting comfortable. The disciples came back from
- 8:32this uncomfortable mission overjoyed because Jesus LED them
- 8:36into a crazy moment. And they said yes, The Bible
- 8:42says that where Jesus is, there is life, There is contentment,
- 8:51there is satisfaction when we are connected to the vine.
- 8:55That's Jesus. We can bear much fruit, but the
- 8:58Spirit is moving and we better be obedient.
- 9:01And if not, it's going to get boring because the Spirit's
- 9:08moving, and if we're not, we get left behind in an empty
- 9:11building. That's what the famous quote
- 9:12from Bono. He said.
- 9:14Religion is what you get when the Holy Spirit has left the
- 9:17building. Christian religion is what you
- 9:22get when you plop all of the moral fibers of Christianity.
- 9:30But Christ is on the move and the spiritual life and vitality
- 9:35will get sucked out of the room when we get cozy and
- 9:38comfortable. So this point number one is you
- 9:41can plop or pursue, but you can't do both.
- 9:47Pastor Francis Chan says it this way.
- 9:49He says the core problem isn't the fact that we're lukewarm,
- 9:53half hearted, or stagnant Christians.
- 9:55The crux of it all is why we are this way, and it is because we
- 10:00have an inaccurate view of God. We see him as a benevolent being
- 10:06who is satisfied when people managed to fit him into their
- 10:11lives in some small way. And we forget that God never had
- 10:15an identity crisis. He knows that He's great and
- 10:19deserves to be the center of our lives.
- 10:22And if he's at the center, then you and I, we, we've got to get
- 10:26our minds around this concept that we are sent.
- 10:33They finish this line, they come back over, join and say, look,
- 10:35Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.
- 10:39Say they're throwing out demons, that they have experienced
- 10:41supernatural power and they're in awe of it.
- 10:47And Jesus affirms this. He says, and and he said to
- 10:50them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
- 10:54Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents
- 10:58and scorpions and all over the power of the enemy, and nothing
- 11:01shall hurt you. Theologians are kind of split on
- 11:07what this means when he talks about seeing Satan fall like
- 11:10lightning. But the most common of the
- 11:11opinions is that he's referring to the fact that when they begin
- 11:15to do spiritual work, Jesus could actually see the spiritual
- 11:19impact against the enemy. That even though they're all out
- 11:24over the countryside, that Christ could actually see the
- 11:27impact of their work on Satan. You know, the Bible says that
- 11:34the primary conflict of this world is not political.
- 11:38It's not racial, it's not gender based or economic.
- 11:42It's not ice in Minnesota or an invasion of Greenland or
- 11:46conflict in Iran. The primary battle of this world
- 11:51is spiritual. That's what Ephesians 6 tells
- 11:57us, the apostle Paul says. For we do not wrestle against
- 12:01flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
- 12:05against the cosmic powers, over this present darkness, against
- 12:10the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
- 12:16Now you may be listening and thinking, like when first demons
- 12:19and now spiritual warfare. Like really, I get it.
- 12:24It's OK to have doubts, even listen, even if you're not sure
- 12:31about the supernatural. I just want you to think what
- 12:34what if the principle of it is true?
- 12:36What if, what if who you Love Actually matters more than you
- 12:41know? And we're going to keep looking
- 12:43at that. Jesus is affirming the impact of
- 12:47their mission. Hey, I saw what happened in the
- 12:50spiritual realm because you were obedient.
- 12:54They saw some supernatural things.
- 12:56Jesus saw the impact and greater effects of it.
- 13:01And for you, Christian, when you obediently step into God's call
- 13:07and God's mission, we're going to impact far more than the
- 13:11physical, more than the temporal.
- 13:19We shake the foundations of Satan's realm, you and I,
- 13:27Christian, we, we get to push back the darkness of this
- 13:32reality just a little bit more when we're obedient.
- 13:35You didn't get called to foster that child simply for the impact
- 13:39of that child. You didn't get called to feed
- 13:41the hungry just for that one meal they need right now.
- 13:45All of those things are good. But when we obey the call of
- 13:50Christ through outreach, through proclamation of the good news,
- 13:55through the living out of the gospel, we participate in an
- 13:59ancient battle and we make a difference.
- 14:03You make a difference, believer. You can shake the very
- 14:09foundations of hell when a whole people turns toward the darkness
- 14:16of this world and begins to shine for Christ.
- 14:20When we say yes to adopting that child, to praying for our Co
- 14:25worker, to speaking into the life of a friend with the truth
- 14:29of the gospel, Satan shutters. Last week there was a guy named
- 14:37Jose and he got his name written on a little ping pong ball in
- 14:46the ping pong wall, a white one because someone invited him to
- 14:48church. And then someone got to write
- 14:52his name on an orange ball because he showed up.
- 14:56And then by the end of the service, someone got to write
- 14:58his name on a paintball because he surrendered his life to
- 15:00Christ. And in the same way that Jesus
- 15:09is saying, hey, you saw some of the supernatural impact of the
- 15:11things you were doing when you were being obedient, and I saw
- 15:14more. What I want to tell you is that
- 15:16we see some of the impact of this, but but when someone gives
- 15:21their life to Christ, hell shakes and demons flee and Satan
- 15:26grits his teeth. We don't even see all of it yet.
- 15:33And that type of power that they're experiencing in this
- 15:36moment as they come back joyous, I'll be honest, it's a it's
- 15:39addictive. It's so attractive that Jesus
- 15:44actually follows it up with a warning.
- 15:46He says, yes, I saw what you did.
- 15:47Yes, I saw the impact. I gave you that power.
- 15:50Say me to push back against the enemy, but don't get caught up
- 15:55in the power because it'll make you prideful like Satan.
- 16:02And don't forget the big picture that it's not about me, it's
- 16:08about the King. I want you to say that with me,
- 16:12Church, it's not about me, it's about the King.
- 16:15Let's say it together, It's not about me, it's about the King
- 16:20and His name is Jesus. So don't lose sight of who we do
- 16:27this for and why it matters. If you know Christ, if you have
- 16:32surrendered your life to Christ, you've found the greatest
- 16:35treasure ever and your eternity is guaranteed and your salvation
- 16:40is sealed and you have but a few days or years left to shape what
- 16:46all of eternity will look like. He chose you to send you.
- 16:54That's our big idea. He chose you to send you?
- 16:58Yeah. I worked as a, a volunteer, a
- 17:01teacher, and then a volunteer elder and then a volunteer
- 17:03pastor at my last church for, for many years.
- 17:06And then I came to this church and I worked here for about 7
- 17:09years as just a volunteer discipleship pastor and
- 17:11associate pastor. And, and I, and I was working
- 17:14for free. But I mean, in reality, I wasn't
- 17:16really working for free. I was enrolled in the ultimate
- 17:18retirement plan where stocks can never crash, thieves can never
- 17:31steal, and I just want to invite you to participate in the same
- 17:34retirement plan. When we get to please our King,
- 17:38there is great satisfaction in our lives as we serve, but also
- 17:45we are storing up treasure in heaven where neither moth nor
- 17:48rust destroy. And so I want to look at in our
- 17:54in our last moments today, how we go about doing that.
- 17:58We know why to please God, but how do we do that and pick this
- 18:03up in verse 21 in that same hour.
- 18:07This is Jesus. He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit
- 18:10and he said I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that
- 18:14you have hidden these things from wise and understanding and
- 18:18you've revealed them to little children.
- 18:24I'm not sure if I should be offended.
- 18:28I'm pretty sure that Jesus just said that God hid the knowledge
- 18:33of Christ from the wise and the understanding of this world, and
- 18:35he only revealed Jesus to little children.
- 18:37So if we know Christ, that makes us little children little
- 18:46children. You don't think Jesus is trying
- 18:49to insult you in this moment? I think He's trying to explain
- 18:52something to you and I don't want you to miss it.
- 18:57He makes the same point in Matthew 18.
- 18:59I want you to read it this way. In Matthew 18 verses 2 through
- 19:024, Jesus says and calling to him a little child, He put him in
- 19:06the midst of them. And he said, truly, I say to
- 19:09you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never
- 19:14enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like
- 19:19this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
- 19:25What, what part of childlike faith is it that we need?
- 19:29Well, it's, it's right there in the text.
- 19:31It's humility. You have to humble yourself.
- 19:33You see, a child knows where the authority and the power and the
- 19:38strength comes from. A child knows that it's Dad that
- 19:43gets the tough stuff done. So Jesus is telling you and I
- 19:48something really insightful. He said if you want to
- 19:50experience supernatural power and miracles of the Father, you
- 19:54need to come like children because it's not us, it's Him.
- 20:03And so you need to cling to Him, you need to be infatuated with
- 20:06Him, you need to be captivated by Him, you need to be in love
- 20:09with Him, you need to be dependent on Him.
- 20:11You need to believe in Him like children believe in their
- 20:14parents. You ever asked a child what can
- 20:19God do and just start to chuckle when you laugh at all their
- 20:22outlandish comments? Well, God could, and it's some
- 20:28massive thing that makes you smile and laugh.
- 20:33And I just want you to realize that they have it right and we
- 20:35might be a little cynical. Remember the hobbits?
- 20:40The unlikely weak little heroes. Far too often we become cynical
- 20:46and we're the people looking down our noses and thinking you
- 20:49have to be powerful to do something great for God.
- 20:52No, you don't. You just have to believe.
- 21:00Our problem isn't that we lack power or money or people or
- 21:04strategy. God has all of those things.
- 21:07Our problem is that we dream too small for such a big God church.
- 21:13We want to believe in the Father like little children do.
- 21:18I want to live in a space where either God shows up in power or
- 21:22I look foolish and silly because a child doesn't care about
- 21:25looking foolish or silly. Believe like a child.
- 21:31That's the first step to getting to participate in this mission
- 21:38from this text Believe like a child verse 23.
- 21:41Then turning to the disciples, he said privately, blessed are
- 21:45the eyes that see what you see Rez church.
- 21:49Blessed are the eyes that see what you're getting to see in a
- 21:51move of God right now. For I tell you, many prophets
- 21:54and kings desire to see what you see and did not see it and to
- 21:57hear what you hear and did not hear it.
- 22:02So first point is come like a child.
- 22:03The second is to be remembered as faithful.
- 22:05Let me ask you this. What were the names of the 72
- 22:07people that were sent out and did all these miracles?
- 22:13Nobody knows. Nobody knows their names.
- 22:19We don't have any other names at all.
- 22:22They did miracles. They healed people.
- 22:24They cast out demons. And we don't know their names.
- 22:27They're not written in this book.
- 22:28They're written somewhere else. They're written in the Book of
- 22:32life. See, we aren't working to be
- 22:36noticed. We're serving so that maybe
- 22:39Jesus gets noticed. Our mission is not to have our
- 22:43names remembered here on earth, but simply to be remembered as
- 22:48being faithful. What's it going to look like,
- 22:52Rez? To look faithful?
- 22:55To be remembered as faithful in the days or years that you have
- 23:00left here before God calls you to heaven.
- 23:02What's it going to look like? Galatians 6, 9, and 10 says it
- 23:07this way. This is the apostle Paul again
- 23:08writing to another church. It says, and let us not grow
- 23:11weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not
- 23:18give up. So then, as we have opportunity,
- 23:22let us do good to everyone and especially to those who are of
- 23:26the household of faith Church. We are the hands and feet of
- 23:31Christ. We are the hope of the world.
- 23:34Christ in you, the hope of glory.
- 23:36That's what Colossians one says, that Jesus could transform us to
- 23:41live so differently. Other people would notice that
- 23:47the whole plan to reach a broken world was you.
- 23:56It's dangerous, it's treacherous, it's exhausting,
- 24:03but there exists nothing, nothing in this universe that is
- 24:09more satisfying, that will bring more peace and contentment in
- 24:15your life, that will be more impactful, more eternal, than to
- 24:19gather together and burn brightly for Christ while we
- 24:23serve others. Because you've been given all
- 24:28authority and all power and all wisdom.
- 24:32And our response is simply to get up and follow Jesus
- 24:36desperately with childlike faith and don't give up doing good.
- 24:42And if we will do this, the very gates of hell will tremble and
- 24:48shake. Satan will be terrified that a
- 24:53bunch of kids in Bakersfield said yes to Christ.
- 25:06I believe we can change the world, not because we have any
- 25:11particular power to do so, but He does.
- 25:16So I want to give you an opportunity to start believing
- 25:18like a child today. Would you learn today to be a
- 25:21kid? You're right.
- 25:24Here's your opportunity to start believing like a child.
- 25:26It's this simple. Here's the first one.
- 25:28Pray for something impossible. Everyday.
- 25:33Pray for something impossible. Secondly, invite someone that
- 25:39you're scared to invite or that you've given up on.
- 25:44And 3rd sign up for something you do not want to do or think
- 25:48that you can't pray for something impossible every day.
- 25:54A couple years ago, we were in like year seven of the Kern
- 25:57County drought. I don't know if you remember
- 25:58that one fun times. And I was in prayer with the
- 26:03Lord and I had really been struggling with just kind of
- 26:05getting my arms around the calling here.
- 26:07And I finally got to the point where I was talking to the Lord.
- 26:09I said, man, I, I, I surrender wanting to move somewhere that's
- 26:13not brown and dead. I'm going to do whatever you
- 26:19want me to do. I'm going to stay here.
- 26:21I'm going to embrace what you're asking me to do.
- 26:23I'm going to be obedient. But God, would you, would you
- 26:26just make it green here? And so I remember having this
- 26:31conversation with the Lord and just just getting to talk to him
- 26:34and feeling like, man, this is so good.
- 26:35And I went back in the office afterwards and I said, hey guys,
- 26:38y'all better check your umbrellas 'cause this fall it's
- 26:41going to rain like crazy. And everyone laughed at me.
- 26:43You're 7 of a drought, right? And I was like, no, you don't
- 26:46understand. I I asked dad for it and that
- 26:51year we had a record rainfall. Who looks foolish now?
- 26:58Ask God, Pray for something impossible everyday.
- 27:05Stop dreaming small. He doesn't invite someone you're
- 27:09scared to invite or written off. Listen, you don't have to
- 27:13convince them to come. You just have to invite them.
- 27:17God does all the convincing. Third, sign up for something
- 27:21that you do not want to do. Could be scooters or think that
- 27:31you can't do. Sign up for something mildly
- 27:34scary. Serving, going on mission,
- 27:37learning something new, a group, leading a group, starting a
- 27:40group. There's so many different things
- 27:42right after the service. We're going to give you
- 27:43opportunity to serve in a bunch of different ways here in this
- 27:45community. Go try something new.
- 27:52In fact, one of the things we've been talking to you a lot about
- 27:57is that there's a an evangelism workshop coming up on February
- 28:017th. Raise your hand if you've
- 28:02already signed up for that. I'll look around.
- 28:05Don't want to miss out. There are 100 of us, just over
- 28:09100 of us now signed up. And so we want you to come sign
- 28:12up and join us there. It's always a little bit weird
- 28:15when we roll in and like, most of the churches there have three
- 28:17people and then we come up with like 100.
- 28:20It's a little bit like growing up in East Bakersfield.
- 28:22Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:24We just come in like, oh, it's Rez.
- 28:25There's all of us and what's up, dude?
- 28:28Yeah, what's up? It is, it is a little, it is a
- 28:32little fun. I'm sure everyone else is
- 28:33intimidated, but you won't because there'll be a lot of us.
- 28:37Sign up for something that you haven't tried.
- 28:38Sign up for an evangelism workshop.
- 28:41But I don't want you to forget this.
- 28:43This is the point of today. He chose you to send you.
- 28:47He never chose you to plop. He didn't chose you to choose
- 28:50you to get comfortable. He chose you to send you on
- 28:53mission. And so you're never going to be
- 28:55fully satisfied in Christ until you actually begin to get your
- 29:00hands and your heart and your mind around that calling that He
- 29:02has on your life. That's why it's the job of
- 29:05pastors to equip the Saints for works of service.
- 29:10Say me, that's you. That's why we want to keep
- 29:15giving you opportunities to find out what is that calling look
- 29:20like? What is God calling me to do?
- 29:27Before we finish our services, we wrap this up and, and we all
- 29:30run out and go serve together or take a tent down or stack chairs
- 29:33or go to the the homeless center we're going to go to in a
- 29:36minute. Maybe there's a few of you here
- 29:38or watching our live stream that have begun to realize you need
- 29:42some of the hope that we keep talking about and you don't have
- 29:45it. You know, if you're new to this
- 29:51whole Bible thing, it is completely OK to be searching.
- 29:56But I want you to consider, in our story, why would 72 very
- 29:59average people risk everything and come back overjoyed?
- 30:06Maybe because we are more than simply biology and reasoning and
- 30:10intellect. And maybe that brokenness that
- 30:15you feel has an actual answer. Today, Jesus offers you real,
- 30:21everlasting hope. The Bible says that every person
- 30:27is born under the curse of sin, that the first people on earth
- 30:32rebelled against God, and now all of us are born hopeless and
- 30:37in need of something that we can't provide for ourselves.
- 30:41So God, loving us even though we were his enemies, sent his Son
- 30:48Jesus to live a perfect life of obedience that we can't live.
- 30:55He was killed on a cross by religious people, but in doing
- 31:00so, he sacrificed himself for us and he rose three days later,
- 31:07conquering sin and death forever.
- 31:10The Bible says that salvation is found in no other name than
- 31:15Jesus. And so if you want that hope,
- 31:20you must surrender your life, your will yourself to Jesus, the
- 31:25King of kings and the Lord of Lords.
- 31:28And he says that if you will acknowledge with your words and
- 31:31believe in your heart that he is King, you will be saved.
- 31:39So I want to give you that opportunity today.
- 31:41Will you? Will you bow your heads and
- 31:43close your eyes with me as we we finish this service?
- 31:47If you're listening to this today and and you've come to the
- 31:49point where you would surrender your life to Christ, I want you
- 31:54to simply repeat this prayer after me.
- 31:57Jesus, I can't save myself. I surrender to you.
- 32:10I ask you to save me and adopt me into your family.
- 32:18Be my Lord. Please, Jesus, if you prayed to
- 32:26surrender your life to Jesus for the first time right now, would
- 32:30you be brave and raise your hand for me to see?
- 32:36Thank you. I see you.
- 32:38Thank you can put your hands down.
- 32:45Maybe you're here today. You've come to realize that you
- 32:49aren't living on mission for Christ.
- 32:51Your life is better defined as plopping than pursuing, and it's
- 32:56been dominated by your own plans and your own wisdom and your own
- 33:00desire. And you want to turn away from
- 33:05the worries and distractions of this world, and you want to live
- 33:08a life sold out and on fire for Christ.
- 33:13You want to commit to making changes in your life that allow
- 33:18for discipleship and community and a charging after Jesus in
- 33:24your daily life. And if that's you, I just want
- 33:28you to raise your hand right now for me to see.
- 33:32Thank you, thank you, thank you. See, you put your hands down in
- 33:40Jesus name, Amen. All right, He saved you to send
- 33:45you. For those of you who just
- 33:50committed your life to Christ for the very first time, welcome
- 33:52to the family. In just a moment as we respond
- 34:04to this sermon, we're going to sing a song.
- 34:05Our per team's going to be up here and we're going to pray
- 34:07with you. If you just made a commitment to
- 34:10Christ for the first time. There's a table in the back
- 34:12right there. She's waving her hand.
- 34:13Say hi. She's beautiful, says I raised
- 34:16my hand. We want you to go back there and
- 34:18tell someone that you made a commitment to Christ.
- 34:20We'd love to talk to you about what's next.
- 34:23We have a gift for you. We want to celebrate with you.
- 34:25If you just made a commitment to go hard after Christ, we want to
- 34:30pray for you. There could be a bunch of people
- 34:31up here to pray. Just come up here and pray with
- 34:33us if you need prayer for any reason.
- 34:36We cherish opportunities to pray with you and for you.
- 34:40Let's stand to sing You. Move as the Lord leads you.
- 34:42Love you church.
