- 1:23straight, fresh off the astral plane. Here he is, the drifter himself.
- 1:29A really awesome fella. My guest, Mike Caravella.
- 1:36Welcome to cinema you again mike g'day mike thanks can't thanks for having me man it's.
- 1:42Fantastic to have you like i was saying while we
- 1:45were uh starting up there we were i think you
- 1:48were underscored there but uh i really enjoyed
- 1:52this but then again like i said it's right up my alley
- 1:56this movie tell me they not so
- 1:59much the origin story but maybe the i i
- 2:03have my i i just want to i i i was going
- 2:06to tell you what i thought that your inspirations cinematically were but i i
- 2:11don't want to i just want to sort of hear you say it and then they go oh yeah
- 2:14yeah yeah like that one yes yes yes i just want to tick them off secretly so
- 2:20what were what were the what were the cinematic inspirations.
- 2:25But yeah so i have a ton of them i mean i'm i'm a
- 2:28i mean just some of the key ones like if you had to pick three
- 2:31pick three all right you're rasky
- 2:34uh ken russell and uh
- 2:38and and maybe leon able to clean
- 2:41these words but just be any question there but i have because i heard that in
- 2:44the score a little bit spaghetti yeah terry gilliam terry gilliam for sure yeah
- 2:50yeah fear and loading is a is a favorite yeah yeah thompson is a favorite of
- 2:55mine yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no that's great No,
- 3:00I just, I was going to say all that and I thought, no, I just wanted to.
- 3:04He'll, he'll confirm or disconfirm, but that's all, that is all there.
- 3:09And plus space vampires, snake
- 3:12people that get, that smoke all of your weed and then steal your car.
- 3:20Terrible folk, these people. What's wrong with them?
- 3:25It's a wild, it's a wild scene. Man, crotch lasers, hand lasers, eye lasers.
- 3:32This is the kind of movie Joe Bob Briggs just goes blind for I wish I'd get
- 3:39him to watch the movie you've got to make the sequel you've got to make the sequel are you?
- 3:46So I have two more, I have a trilogy are you making them?
- 3:51So I have investors on this movie but a large part of it was me,
- 3:57so I need to make some money before I
- 4:00can make connection somebody could potentially you know
- 4:03hopefully somebody loves this movie with a lot of money says all
- 4:06right what do you got next he's like well just so happens i got two more so
- 4:09i hope so my god but i
- 4:12have this somebody anybody listening to this it has too
- 4:15much money and not enough movies to spend
- 4:18it on yeah come and see this fella and
- 4:21then don't need that much don't need that much money because this
- 4:24is a low budget indie and like i think i got a lot of time but
- 4:27i mean it's that that's a it's effective that's part
- 4:30of its charm i mean yeah yeah you know
- 4:33i mean because what i got out of it was immediately i was thinking back we're
- 4:38going back now 20 30 oh 40 years now oh my gosh we're going back and i'm thinking
- 4:45about vhs movies and i thought this would be the kind of movie that you would
- 4:49find on them shelves like,
- 4:53Yeah. In those sci-fi, you know, because I'm, it's, what is it?
- 4:57Like a sci-fi stoner, western comedy?
- 5:01Yeah, I call it a western, well, I bridged it on the poster because you can't
- 5:05fit it on the poster. Right.
- 5:07It's a western sci-fi kung fu grindhouse psychedelic stoner comedy.
- 5:12That's it. Beautiful there.
- 5:14So enough said. There you go.
- 5:17But yeah, the poster leans into those VHS days, and that's the poster right behind me.
- 5:21That's like you see that in the old old school video store and you see that
- 5:25vhs box they're like yeah what the hell is this i'm taking this home tonight
- 5:29yeah yeah exactly exactly it'd be it's it's one of the covers it's just you'd
- 5:34look at it and yeah that's one of the covers that.
- 5:37Yeah away we go and it's a
- 5:40good all that i lean into all of it i'm influenced by
- 5:42it all i homage a great pizza movie yeah
- 5:46no doubt about it no doubt about it and i think you
- 5:49know that was like my goal my goal in making this movie is like long after i'm
- 5:54dead i want two guys who are sitting around in the living room eating pizza
- 5:59and smoking tons of weed and saying yeah let's put the fucked up movie out of
- 6:04their brains absolutely in a splendid condition,
- 6:09enjoying the legend the quest of the legendary mofo who's kind of like a cross between doctor who.
- 6:17And the dude yeah i've
- 6:21gotten a lot of jeffrey lebowski references and that's
- 6:24yeah yeah it's been
- 6:27great the dude abides we actually made a film festival a weed influence film
- 6:34festival it's called the cannabis culture film festival yeah wait two main events
- 6:38on friday saturday night was the big lebowski on friday night and drift on saturday
- 6:43night so that was like the highest form which meant I could have been paid. So that was awesome.
- 6:47I'd love to go to that Lebowski fest that they have. Yeah, I would love to too.
- 6:52So what's in one neighborhood again? Those sweaters are very expensive though.
- 6:56Yeah, and they're probably more expensive. Is it Pellington's or whatever? Is it Pellington's?
- 7:00He's taken on wearing it again lately. Have you seen them?
- 7:02Yeah, yeah. He was on the talk show going, keep ice up at the streets and beverages, man.
- 7:10You know, God bless him. Jeff Bridges has become Lloyd Bridges.
- 7:16God's sake. Where's the time gone? And I love that. Most people don't realize.
- 7:21I really wish they would do like a Hot Shots 3.
- 7:25Yeah and because charlie sheen's doing
- 7:29the circuit so he's looking for work he is
- 7:32that we're not like that's what larry kellen used to say when the old movie
- 7:36stars because let's face it they're all getting old yeah uh come out and do
- 7:41the book and the talk shows they're they're looking for work they want to be
- 7:45hired they want people to put them in movies oh that i guess he.
- 7:50He's made a lot of it, but I guess he spent it alive.
- 7:54Jack Bridges can now be Lloyd Bridges, man. I got a fun Charlie Sheen story.
- 7:59So I don't live in L.A. anymore. I live out in the Mojave Desert.
- 8:01But when I lived in L.A., I was at a Taco Bell in the San Fernando Valley at like 2 in the morning.
- 8:07I'm in the driving line, and there's a bush right before the window.
- 8:12I see some rustling behind it, and somebody pops up,
- 8:17and it was charlie sheen and he's a mess and his
- 8:20shirt's ripped up and i don't know what he was doing but
- 8:23he was laying in the weeds in uh on the side of
- 8:26the taco bell and he just got up and walked away and uh you could fill in the
- 8:30blanks i've seen that clip have you seen that clip of him obviously on like
- 8:39youtube where he goes up to the car you know through the window how's it going I'm Charlie Sheen.
- 8:45Yeah. No, I almost lived that exact moment. Yeah.
- 8:49The thing was, he was like not a bad actor.
- 8:53No, he's a pretty good one, right? He was a pretty good actor.
- 8:56All of his dramatic stuff, I liked.
- 9:00How can you not like be, how can some of that. I mean, I'm a Navy SEALs fan too. So.
- 9:07I mean, he was like 12 years old hanging out with Coppola and his dad and Dennis
- 9:11Hopper and Marlon Barando.
- 9:13I mean, who gets those opportunities? Yeah.
- 9:16And as he's telling the stories, he was there when they were in the middle of
- 9:20it, in the shit, as they say.
- 9:24No, it was crazy times. They all, they, they all almost died out there.
- 9:28They need to make a movie about the making of Apocalypse Now.
- 9:32Yeah. One that wasn't like they did.
- 9:35I mean, the documentary is beautiful. I would never want more,
- 9:38but it would be such a great narrative film.
- 9:43Yeah. Yeah. That would be great. Like they did with The Offer, with The Godfather.
- 9:48Yeah, I like that. But obviously, because it's Apocalypse Door film.
- 9:53Yeah, you need more in it, though. You need lots of cocaine and lots of crazy.
- 9:57Because, man, think about the actors you were drawing for the parts,
- 10:00like who's going to play Dennis Hopper, who's going to play –.
- 10:05You know, who's going to play Martin Sheen? Who's going to play,
- 10:08you know, Lawrence Fishburne, right?
- 10:12You know, who's going to play Sam Bottoms, right? Who's going to play Frederick Forrest?
- 10:17Right. You know?
- 10:19And then plus the, you know, plus the. Harrison, Harrison Ford's in the movie
- 10:24too, right? Yeah, yeah. Harrison, yeah.
- 10:27Man, that final, I saw that final cut actually in a cinema.
- 10:34Yeah. Beautiful. I mean, I know people have their versions that they liked.
- 10:39There's a lot of people say the original theatrical is the best,
- 10:44or there's people who like the Redux.
- 10:46And then there's people. I think it's important to watch it with all the stuff with the French.
- 10:50Yeah, yeah. Seeing that's not in the original version, I think it's important
- 10:54for the context of everything that's going on.
- 10:56But I mean, just on a visual level, like the final cut projected was beautiful. Yeah.
- 11:03Oh, just like when they did the, the, when Blade Runner came out again,
- 11:08like theatrically and they'd restored it.
- 11:12And man, it's like seeing it for the first time again.
- 11:17And again, but I do it all the time. I go high definition.
- 11:23I go see the old movies now in the theater more and I go see the new movies. So yeah. Yeah.
- 11:29Well, like, uh, people, you know, I look in the mirror and I see an old man.
- 11:35Our movies and our music were better. Yeah.
- 11:39Start to sound like my father. Yeah. Uh, that's crazy.
- 11:46God's sake. What happened to the time? Where did the time go? Yeah.
- 11:52Sucked into the astral planes to fight space vampires. Tell me about,
- 11:57tell me about sitting down to write this movie. Yeah.
- 12:01So, like I mentioned earlier, and I won't get too much into my background, there's some stuff.
- 12:07So, I moved out to the desert about eight years ago, and I live about two hours east of Los Angeles now.
- 12:14I'm originally from New York City, and I lived in LA for a long time doing the
- 12:17thing in the business, you know, grinding away.
- 12:20And I got cancer, and then I was pretty sick for a while, and I didn't think
- 12:24I was going to work anymore. So, I moved out to the desert.
- 12:27And then as I got better, I started pushing towards some work and I booked some
- 12:30work and everything was going really, really good.
- 12:32I just had the best year of my career and then COVID happened.
- 12:36So I shut it down. And then I'm just out in the desert for like a year,
- 12:41just wandering day by day by day. And there's a lot of weird.
- 12:44So you've lived this.
- 12:47I've lived it. So like there's a lot of weird locations and quirky stuff and folklore.
- 12:54And uh between the i don't know if anybody's familiar
- 12:57with i'm i'm i'm being an old fart here but
- 12:59like the legend of grand parsons and when he was out in the
- 13:02desert like doing also a guy who helped start
- 13:05the eagles and the birds and all that stuff and uh ufos
- 13:09and all sorts of stuff that goes on out here
- 13:12and uh the locations really fed me
- 13:15the idea like i went i found these crazy locations and
- 13:19it gave me this mishmash of ideas and being
- 13:21the 60s 70s cinephile that i am i'm seeing
- 13:24the good the bad the ugly i'm seeing the original
- 13:28planet apes i'm seeing the 60s tv version of star trek i'm seeing i'm seeing
- 13:34chang shay and shaw brothers kung fu right right wow and like what was the what
- 13:41was the the like what was the name of the weed that you were smoking Well,
- 13:46you know, there have been dozens...
- 13:48I want to go out somewhere and see space vampires, mate.
- 13:52Well, the cool thing, we have a little secret here for Drifter.
- 13:55Drifter does a lot of smoking, but, like, because I'm a cancer survivor,
- 13:59I don't actually smoke anymore. I can't smoke.
- 14:01But I'm in California, and, like, you drink, you eat, do whatever.
- 14:06Yeah, there's always lots of stuff.
- 14:08Tinctures and edibles and beers.
- 14:12I find the edibles get you higher in some ways.
- 14:15Yeah. And the beer, like, there's this one that I get that's,
- 14:19like, it's a little bottle. It's about this big. I think it's, like, nine ounces.
- 14:23It's, like, ice cream lemonade concoction, and it's got 100 milligrams in it.
- 14:27Wow. Yeah. So, yeah.
- 14:34I still explore, man. That's a good morning app. Yeah.
- 14:38Or wherever. So, yeah, so you open your mind a little bit, and it's easy to
- 14:42do out here. Like, I set out my backyard at the stars, and you probably have some of that by you.
- 14:48Is it true the desert is really cold at night?
- 14:50It is. So, uh. So, it's a real high contrast. Like, it's really hot in the daytime,
- 14:55and it's really cold at night.
- 14:57Right. And in the wintertime, like, and we shot this thing in the winter.
- 15:00Really? I bet it's really cold, actually. It's like 39 degrees at night.
- 15:06Yeah. So, it gets, and there's no humidity, and the wind blows,
- 15:09and it cuts right through.
- 15:11So, yeah. I grew up on the East Coast of the United States.
- 15:16If it's 70 degrees out, it's 75% humidity.
- 15:21Here, humidity is 10%. There's no humidity. It's dry as hell.
- 15:27The temperature drops way down. There's the sun. It goes down.
- 15:31Even if you're standing in the sun to the shade, if you just go in the shade,
- 15:35the temperature drops for you at 20 degrees because of humidity.
- 15:39It was cold. then we were out there so as you saw we had a bunch of night shoots,
- 15:43then we're all out there in polyester.
- 15:49And the wind's cutting right through, and we were pretty free. Yeah.
- 15:53No, I first learned about that when I was interviewing Mike Marvin,
- 15:57who directed The Wraith.
- 15:59Yeah. A Charlie Sheen movie. Got it.
- 16:03And I think The Wraith might have actually used some of the same locations that we did.
- 16:07Really? I know The Hitcher did. If you remember The Hitcher with Rutger Hauer
- 16:10and Thomas Howell. All that movie.
- 16:13And we actually shot some of our scenes on Tatooine, the actual like same Spock's
- 16:18film Tatooine out in Death Valley so we might we've mentioned that there yeah
- 16:22sweet ass yeah that's fantastic,
- 16:26there's so much history out there like the Vasquez rocks and all that sort of
- 16:30thing yeah so like TV shows and movies and all sorts of stuff if you remember
- 16:35the Star Trek episode with the Gorn where Kirk is out there one on one throwing
- 16:39boulders with the yeah yeah,
- 16:41the Gorn then that's we get a lot of those comparisons yeah And at the end of Hell Comes to Frogtown.
- 16:49Yeah. I love that movie. Yeah.
- 16:51That's, yeah, God bless it. I hope they never try to remake it or something.
- 16:56They will, because they have no idea. No, they will. They'll work their way around to it.
- 17:00It's like I was horrified back when they were like, The Rock was going to do
- 17:04a remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
- 17:07Yeah, I remember those talks. Oh, my God. I was like, no, no, no, no.
- 17:14Leave it alone. Just there's heaps of shit. You can go remake what they're doing. The Jetson.
- 17:19I mean, so people, why haven't they done a feature film of the,
- 17:23you know, remake of a fifties cartoon version of the Jetsons?
- 17:28Like they did the Flintstones and.
- 17:30Right. I just read some of them. Richie Rich. Who's playing George again?
- 17:35Jim Carrey. They did Richie Rich. And they did Richie Rich. Did Macaulay Culkin do Richie Rich? Yeah.
- 17:42I actually liked the Beverly Hillbillies one they did with Jim Varney.
- 17:46Yeah, that was pretty good. I actually liked that one.
- 17:51I liked the dude, I forget his name, he's got a weird name. He plays Jethro. Oh, yeah.
- 17:57Oh, God, I can never think of his name, but man, he cracks me up.
- 18:02When they walk inside, he goes, two staircases. He goes, what's that for?
- 18:06And he goes, that's easy, Uncle G. one's for coming up the other one's for coming down.
- 18:15That's great that cracks me up every time
- 18:18yeah and lily tomlin's like what's her name mr drysdale's assistant yeah yeah
- 18:25i was like man i'm wait i was like waiting on they're gonna get around to the
- 18:29jetsons at some point like they did lost in space for god's sake right with william hurt. Yeah.
- 18:37And dude from Friends met LeBlanc with Gary Oldman for God's sake. Gary Oldman.
- 18:44Gary Oldman's not afraid that yeah he's one of the best but he's never embarrassed
- 18:48about taking a payday. Oh. Yeah.
- 18:52He didn't really like doing the fifth element, which I thought was interesting. I heard.
- 18:58Fifth element has... Apparently, nobody... I mean, I know they like to rag on...
- 19:03What's his name, Bob? From Friday.
- 19:05Because Tucker. Tucker, yeah. But he... I thought he was pretty funny in that
- 19:09movie. I thought he was pretty funny. Better than Jar Jar Binks. Yeah.
- 19:14That's true. I mean, on an annoying factor, like, you know.
- 19:19I mean there's a good amount of him but there's not too much I mean towards
- 19:26the end like when he ends up with him it's like oh shit does he have to,
- 19:31but you know but like he sort of caps it up nicely he's like enough of this
- 19:37shit I'm leaving you know,
- 19:41you know but I mean it's I mean it's a weird what's beautiful about that film
- 19:47is it's European and They have the, they're not afraid to mix like in humor.
- 19:54Like there's, there's a serious version of the fifth element that I'm sure Hollywood
- 19:59would have made that would have been bereft of humor.
- 20:04Maybe some quippy stuff, but not right. But a solid sci-fi action.
- 20:10But because this is, this is still that, right.
- 20:14But it's more like a heavy metal. Yeah. Comic.
- 20:19With Neumar. And that's right. I think it's yours too. And Bruce Willis being,
- 20:25you know, peak Bruce Willis.
- 20:27You know, I'm Corbin Dallas.
- 20:32No, I'm Corbin Dallas. I am Corbin Dallas. I am Spartacus.
- 20:39But no, so Astral Plains, tell us about the, like, so COVID was a big dent in everyone's bum. Right.
- 20:49So how did that, ultimately that, how did that affect the film and everything?
- 20:54So I wound up making a short.
- 20:56So I made a short first of Astral Plane Drifter, which was like, because of COVID.
- 21:00So it was like, I have a good friend of mine that's a professional director
- 21:03of photography. He's been around for a long time. He's worked on James Bond
- 21:07movies and all sorts of stuff.
- 21:09And for some reason, he likes to hang around me and do my crazy weird shit.
- 21:13So I brought him out to my house and I knew an actor and he knew an actress
- 21:17and they got tested and we all
- 21:19kind of came out to the desert and we had a really small team, my family,
- 21:24my wife and my kids were crew and we made the short film and I wound up winning
- 21:2835 awards with the short film and playing festivals for like a year and a half.
- 21:33I think people are interested in this character. I think I need to do more with
- 21:37it. So yeah, I wrote one script. I wrote two scripts. I wrote three scripts.
- 21:42Shopped around for a little while. I tried to raise one. And we saw your franchise.
- 21:46Yeah. Yeah. And raising money was hard, and I'm impatient. So I just decided to go at it myself.
- 21:53So I did a little Indiegogo, a little crowd funder.
- 21:57I raised some money, and then that was enough to inspire some investors.
- 22:00And then I convinced my wife to push all chips into the middle of the table and go all in.
- 22:05And we went. We went. And that was in December. God bless the fact that you went.
- 22:13He went. He went. He used every cent.
- 22:18And we're glad we has. Yeah. This is such a great movie.
- 22:23It's just like a feast. It's like, I once went to this very flash dinner and,
- 22:31as part of a sales convention, one of these sales,
- 22:36you know, if you do well, you get to go on the trip sort of trips and all of
- 22:42those is free and oh my goodness, I haven't drank so much beer before or since, uh,
- 22:49in period, because everywhere we went, there was free cold beer and to an Australian that is like, uh,
- 22:57I suppose, uh, an Irishman in his Guinness, uh, the Irishman drowning in a pool of Guinness.
- 23:04And it was fantastic. It was truly as close to Nirvana, I think, as I will ever get.
- 23:12But, yeah, incredible stuff. I really, there's nothing about it that is not enjoyable.
- 23:18I loved, what else can I talk about?
- 23:21I loved the villain, what's his name, John Jordan.
- 23:25Oh, yeah, the Aspid. With his Legion of Doom shoulder pads and a cape.
- 23:30What is available with his shoulder pads and a cape, I say?
- 23:35Fantastic. Shoes the scenery. He devours the scenery, but fantastically.
- 23:43The nipple torture. He ends up on a nipple torture.
- 23:48Yeah, the nipple. Well, people are going to enjoy that.
- 23:52People are going to enjoy it and inspire themselves. They go like,
- 23:55oh, I don't really like this, but I like it.
- 23:59Like I said I really love your narration you have,
- 24:03moments that aren't like where you're just
- 24:06you're not talking obviously in the shot but the narration is playing over you
- 24:11like looking at something it's just like we've all we've done the crazies we've
- 24:16all done crazy things on hash you know and stuff like that that was all and
- 24:21that came about out of uh like necessity is the mother of invention you know that was out of the,
- 24:27It looked like it would be hard to record sound in the wind.
- 24:31It is. And when we did the short, it was going to be hard to record sound.
- 24:35So the short was all, this is not all narration, but the short was all narration.
- 24:40And because the sound was going to be a complication, my wife,
- 24:44who's a school teacher, she was our boom operator out in the desert.
- 24:47So we were like, we know we can't really record too much sound.
- 24:49We're going to have to depend on some other stuff.
- 24:52And out of that, the people watched the short, and they loved the narration.
- 24:56So that kind of, that fed it. It's like, all right, well, we're going with that.
- 25:00That's how we're doing this. So, yeah, and people seem to like it.
- 25:05I'll also say, and I think people
- 25:09have been fed a line that voiceover and narration can be a bad thing.
- 25:14And, like, some people say too much, but, like, not... Nah, that's just because
- 25:19of Robert McKay, and everyone loves him.
- 25:22And he'll tell you, I'm not a student of Robert McKee at all.
- 25:26I haven't read any of his books or his philosophy.
- 25:30All I know about Robert McKee is, is, oh God, Brian Cox, the beautiful,
- 25:35wonderful, beautiful Brian Cox's performance as him in adaptation.
- 25:40Yeah. Where he's a sweary berry, you know, you use voice over my friends and
- 25:47I'm going to kick you in the ass, you know, that kind of stuff that's,
- 25:53bollocks. It's just bollocks so that you buy their book and look,
- 25:58oh, I've had so much success. Look at all the Oscar winners that I've nurtured into success.
- 26:06Buy the book, asshole. I can't afford it.
- 26:13But, yeah, everyone can afford to get out and see Astral Plane Drift Mike. Yeah. Tell our,
- 26:22wonderful listening audience where they can see how

- 28:14that we world premiere at Horror Fest in Utah and won Best Genre Bender.
- 28:20And now we're about three dozen festivals in. We have nine wins,
- 28:24nine other nominations.
- 28:26I have about seven or eight more festivals this year, and then we're done with that.
- 28:30I have started doing roadshow screenings. I've done about a dozen screenings
- 28:34where I've been taking the movie out myself on the road and doing the red carpet thing.
- 28:39I have all the drift of red carpet stuff and merchandise, and I show up for
- 28:42pre- and post-conversations with people out in the lobby, and we sell merchandise,
- 28:47and we drink beer, and we have a party.
- 28:49So I'm doing that I'm going to be doing that for a while I have a theater in
- 28:54Palm Springs California next week it'll be an all Halloween weekend.
- 28:59October 31st November 1st and November 2nd I'm
- 29:02going to be coming to more places as we go I'm going to start doing conventions
- 29:07next year selling merchandise selling the Blu-ray and I'm not streaming just
- 29:11yet because I believe there's a movie that needs to have communal get people
- 29:15out in the theater trying to build a midnight movie did this whole thing,
- 29:20come out to see the movie. Cult status.
- 29:22It's got it. It's got it written all over it. This is the kind of movie, look, I see.
- 29:28I came away feeling like this is a movie you would find back in the video days.
- 29:34You would be looking through the sci-fi adventure, whatever section, whatever.
- 29:40And, you know, next to Buckaroo Bonsai, they might be Astral Planes Drifter
- 29:45or something like that, you know, or in between, yeah, in between that and the
- 29:48Ice Pirates perhaps, which is another good deal. Ice Pirates as well.
- 29:55That's a great movie. Oh, they don't make movies. Hey, I'm starting to say there's
- 29:59the folks again. No, I don't.
- 30:01Well, don't make movies like that anymore, do you know?
- 30:04It's true. I mean, we grew up in the time, like, you know, I was a kid in the
- 30:0870s. You never know it when you're living in a golden age.
- 30:12No, we would definitely. You never know until it's over.
- 30:16TV, I feel like the 70s were the golden age of all that stuff. Oh, man.
- 30:20Oh, man. Yeah. And I was getting a sponge just taking all that stuff.
- 30:24Take me home to the place I belong. Yeah.
- 30:29There was a time long, long ago, back when we used to, like,
- 30:34communicate by banging on drums in the jungle.
- 30:38And wanting fire, sending smoke.
- 30:42I actually still do that. I'm out in my backyard with my Bronco and my fire
- 30:47pit, looking up at the stars, looking for UFOs.
- 30:50I do that every weekend. Why not?
- 30:54Why not? Never mind there is a time. That time is just Saturday night.
- 30:58Every night is Saturday night. On the Astral Plains, you've been listening to our wonderful guest.
- 31:06He's a fantastic, talented, multi-talented individual. This is an incredible
- 31:11film down for cult status.
- 31:15Everyone, please get over, check the links in the description,
- 31:19get over and support and check out and wrap your laughing gear around Astral Plane Drifter.
- 31:29Did you ever consider Astral Planes Drifter, like High Planes Drifter?
- 31:33Right that's the reference
- 31:38that's the plane because that was talking about
- 31:41the spaghetti western stuff not so much leone but like clint eastwood broke
- 31:46off from leone and he had two movies high plane shifter and hang him high which
- 31:51are like my favorite westerns they're kind of ethereal and little ghost story-ish
- 31:56and and a little trippy and those are the ones so high
- 31:59shifter was definitely the play on the name so that's
- 32:03that's why we went with the astral plane cool as opposed to the high plane we
- 32:08were in the high plane oh i'm glad you around the high plane i'm glad you went
- 32:11i hope you get to go again mike yeah thank you for being my guest on cinema

- 32:45Do help him out, because the more you support indie films, it helps indie film to grow strong.
- 32:54And, you know, if the winds of change and chance end up seeing the mass populace
- 33:02Hollywood fall or at least crumble and the indies rise with the new help of
- 33:09the new technology and even out the playing field, well,
- 33:13and we start making films that compete with the big boys,
- 33:18well, geez, oh what a day that'll be
