- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't know if it's kickbacks.
- 0:01Speaker 2: So what's going on?
- 0:02Speaker 1: And I've had a great help with Elon Musk, who's
- 0:05Speaker 1: been terrific. Then I'm going to tell him to go
- 0:07Speaker 1: check the Department of Education. Then I'm going to go
- 0:10Speaker 1: to the military.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let's check the military.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We're going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars
- 0:15Speaker 1: of fraud and abuse.
- 0:17Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Good Monday morning, Ben Ferguson with you. It's nice to
- 0:23Speaker 4: have you with us. And these are the big stories
- 0:25Speaker 4: we're covering today on the forty seven Morning Update. First up,
- 0:29Speaker 4: Democrats are losing their mind as Elon Musk and his
- 0:32Speaker 4: team have now gained more access to a total of
- 0:36Speaker 4: fifteen government agencies. What are they fighting? I'll have it
- 0:41Speaker 4: for you in just a moment. Democrats also trying to
- 0:44Speaker 4: figure out how they are going to fight back against
- 0:47Speaker 4: Donald Trump. And in story number two, elam Omar goes
- 0:50Speaker 4: on National TV to say that Donald Trump is in
- 0:53Speaker 4: essence a dictator and a tyrant when he's just been
- 0:56Speaker 4: on the job for three weeks. And finally, we have
- 1:00Speaker 4: the list of the likely tax cuts that could save
- 1:03Speaker 4: you and your family a ton of money that Donald
- 1:06Speaker 4: Trump wants in the Reconciliation Bill will have those details
- 1:09Speaker 4: as well. It's the forty seven Morning Update and it
- 1:12Speaker 4: starts right now.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 1:14Speaker 4: If there's one thing that Donald Trump has done that
- 1:17Speaker 4: has really made the left angry, it's the fact that
- 1:20Speaker 4: he's exposing the waste of fraud and the good old
- 1:24Speaker 4: abuse in the United States government. We're also finding out
- 1:27Speaker 4: each and every day just how bad things have gotten.
- 1:30Speaker 4: And now it seems clear that Donald Trump is saying
- 1:32Speaker 4: to Elon Musk and his team, go find it all.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Elon Musk and his team have now swept into fifteen agencies,
- 1:42Speaker 4: and this is what we know. Staffers and allies of
- 1:45Speaker 4: Musk and his service are well fanning out across Washington
- 1:49Speaker 4: in the last week, especially seeking access to data and
- 1:53Speaker 4: disrupting operations in at least fifteen government agencies in pursuit
- 1:59Speaker 4: of dramatically smaller federal government. DOGE, which you know stands
- 2:04Speaker 4: for the Department of Government Efficiency, has not disclosed the
- 2:07Speaker 4: names of its staff members, but the Washington Post is
- 2:10Speaker 4: trying to do a let's out you list. They've identified
- 2:14Speaker 4: now more than thirty people working for closely with by
- 2:18Speaker 4: examining the internal directories they claim a multiple agencies and
- 2:22Speaker 4: interviewing numerous federal workers, virtually all of whom spoke on
- 2:27Speaker 4: condition of eminemity to fear for quote, major retaliation. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 4: this is when you know that Elon Musk is getting
- 2:35Speaker 4: somewhere in Donald Trump. When you have this many people
- 2:39Speaker 4: inside the government that are trying to undermine the people
- 2:43Speaker 4: that are working with Doge, They're hoping that they can
- 2:46Speaker 4: get them in trouble or find a way to get
- 2:48Speaker 4: them fired. Now, about half of those identified have ties
- 2:52Speaker 4: to Musk or his companies. Why well, these are clearly
- 2:55Speaker 4: the people that he trusts with his companies and also
- 2:59Speaker 4: people that operate at another level when it comes to intellect. Now,
- 3:04Speaker 4: among those are young people, and the reality is many
- 3:07Speaker 4: on the Democratic Party are angry at the fact that
- 3:09Speaker 4: many of these people working for Elon Musk are young
- 3:13Speaker 4: in their twenties. Another way of putting it, it's clear
- 3:16Speaker 4: age discrimination. They don't like the fact that young people
- 3:20Speaker 4: are coming in and looking at ways to cost cut
- 3:24Speaker 4: or looking for the waste, fraud and abuse and exposing it.
- 3:28Speaker 4: The way that Elon Musk is on X. What's also
- 3:31Speaker 4: very interesting about what's happening now is much of the waste, fraud,
- 3:36Speaker 4: and abuse is being exposed instantly because Elon Musk will
- 3:40Speaker 4: get the information, then he checks and verifies it, and
- 3:43Speaker 4: then he's putting it out on social media, so that
- 3:46Speaker 4: you know, before the media can protect or stop the
- 3:49Speaker 4: story from ever being written. He's going around the media now.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Donald Trump was asked in an interview during the halftime
- 3:57Speaker 4: of the Super Bowl on Sunday night if he trusts
- 4:01Speaker 4: Elon Musk, because again, what is the left doing trying
- 4:04Speaker 4: to tell you that Elon Musk and his staff cannot
- 4:06Speaker 4: be trusted. What did Donald Trump say, Take a listen.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't know if it's kickbacks or what's going on,
- 4:12Speaker 1: but the people, look, I ran on this, and the
- 4:15Speaker 1: people want me to find it. And I've had a
- 4:17Speaker 1: great help with Elon Musk, who's been terrific.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I'm on, you say you trust him?
- 4:22Speaker 1: Trust Elon? Oh, he's not gaining anything. In fact, I
- 4:25Speaker 1: wonder how he can devote the time to it. He's
- 4:27Speaker 1: so into it. But I told him to do that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Then I'm going to tell him very soon, like maybe
- 4:33Speaker 1: in twenty four hours to go check the Department of Education.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's going to find the same thing. Then I'm going
- 4:39Speaker 1: to go to the military. Let's check the military. We're
- 4:41Speaker 1: going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of
- 4:45Speaker 1: fraud and abuse. And you know, the people elected me on.
- 4:49Speaker 4: That hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse.
- 4:53Speaker 4: It was very clear the President was saying to you,
- 4:56Speaker 4: the American people, you told me what the mandate was.
- 4:59Speaker 4: You wanted me to cut the size of government. You
- 5:01Speaker 4: wanted me to make sure that they weren't wasting your
- 5:03Speaker 4: tax dollars. You wanted to make sure that your money
- 5:07Speaker 4: was going to America first policies. That is exactly what
- 5:11Speaker 4: Donald Trump is delivering on, and he's expanding the scope
- 5:15Speaker 4: of where he's looking for all of the government waste, fraud.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And abuse. Now story number two, it is very.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Clear Democrats are trying to find their footing and how
- 5:25Speaker 4: they're going to deal with all the successes over the
- 5:27Speaker 4: last three weeks of Donald Trump's agenda. They understand now
- 5:31Speaker 4: that they've got to come up with some plan to
- 5:34Speaker 4: undermine him. The media is obviously on board to help
- 5:37Speaker 4: with that. Alam Omar has come out just days after
- 5:40Speaker 4: Democrats already called for a third impeachment of Donald Trump
- 5:45Speaker 4: from the floor of the House to say that it's
- 5:47Speaker 4: very clear that Donald Trump has decided he will not
- 5:50Speaker 4: abide their claiming by the Constitution. They're now saying he
- 5:53Speaker 4: is a dictator and a tyrant. Well representative. Alam Omar
- 5:58Speaker 4: on Sunday on CBS Facination had a few other things
- 6:01Speaker 4: to say about Donald Trump. This is their game plan
- 6:04Speaker 4: of how they're going to undermine him. Listen carefully to
- 6:06Speaker 4: the word she uses.
- 6:08Speaker 5: We're joined now by Democratic Congressman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Good to have you here. You have spoken quite a
- 6:15Speaker 5: bit this week about what USAID meant in your life,
- 6:18Speaker 5: particularly when you were living in a refugee camp for
- 6:21Speaker 5: four years and USAID you talked about helping to keep
- 6:26Speaker 5: you alive. We know this week a federal judge will
- 6:29Speaker 5: come to some kind of hearing and decision perhaps on
- 6:31Speaker 5: what happens to all those government workers. Are the courts
- 6:35Speaker 5: the main line of defense here?
- 6:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, what we are witnessing is a constitutional crisis.
- 6:41Speaker 6: We are seeing an executive branch that has decided that
- 6:46Speaker 6: they are no longer going to abide by the Constitution
- 6:48Speaker 6: in honoring Congress's role in the creation of the agencies,
- 6:54Speaker 6: in their role in deciding where money is allocated. And
- 7:00Speaker 6: so the only recourse we have since our congressional leadership
- 7:04Speaker 6: the Speaker will not stop the executive is through the judiciary.
- 7:11Speaker 6: And this is you know, when you think about the
- 7:14Speaker 6: checks and balances that we have, the courts are the
- 7:18Speaker 6: only recourse we have at the moment, and we have
- 7:21Speaker 6: seen and when we talk about the illegality of what
- 7:24Speaker 6: the executive is doing, we have seen every single executive
- 7:28Speaker 6: order that has been challenged in the courts was found
- 7:32Speaker 6: to be illegal. And that I think should give faith
- 7:36Speaker 6: to the American people that our courts are working as
- 7:41Speaker 6: they should. The checks and balances are working. What is
- 7:44Speaker 6: not working is the way that the executive is behaving
- 7:48Speaker 6: and the congressional leadership that is failing the American people.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Well, some of these court cases are ongoing.
- 7:53Speaker 4: So by the way, let's just be clear over what
- 7:56Speaker 4: she just said. She just claimed that the court systems
- 7:59Speaker 4: had stopped Donald try up on every executive order. That
- 8:01Speaker 4: is a lie. And as you could even hear there,
- 8:04Speaker 4: and I'm sure this was hard for them to do.
- 8:05Speaker 4: A CBS Face the Nation. They even tried to somewhat
- 8:09Speaker 4: correct her and say, well, these are ongoing, He's only
- 8:11Speaker 4: been present for three weeks. How can you make such
- 8:13Speaker 4: an egregious claim. You also have to remember who the
- 8:16Speaker 4: Democrats are putting out on TV. Face The Democratic Party
- 8:19Speaker 4: now has become so radical they decide to put a
- 8:21Speaker 4: congresswoman out there as their faced this week on Face
- 8:26Speaker 4: the Nation, a woman that referred to the nine to
- 8:28Speaker 4: eleven Terris as some people that did some things. We
- 8:33Speaker 4: also are finding out that the Democrats are putting different
- 8:36Speaker 4: extremists out there to try to find out a way
- 8:39Speaker 4: to undermine the president. You noticed in the beginning of
- 8:43Speaker 4: that interview, Margaret Brennan is talking about we know that
- 8:46Speaker 4: USAID meant so much to you and your life. Why
- 8:50Speaker 4: did she say that, Well, it's very clear they're trying
- 8:52Speaker 4: to cover for the abuse, waste, the fraud coming from
- 8:56Speaker 4: USAID and even the funneling of money to actual Harris.
- 9:01Speaker 4: So what better person have on TV to defend the
- 9:03Speaker 4: program than a woman that refers to the nine to
- 9:06Speaker 4: eleven hijackers as some people that did some things. Now
- 9:10Speaker 4: Omar was not done there. She also went on to
- 9:13Speaker 4: say this. I mean, what we're witnessing is a constitutional crisis.
- 9:17Speaker 4: We are seeing executive brands that has decided they no
- 9:20Speaker 4: longer are going to abide by the Constitution and honoring
- 9:23Speaker 4: Congress's role in the creation of the agencies and their
- 9:26Speaker 4: role and in deciding where money is allocated. So now,
- 9:29Speaker 4: what does she say? You have a president of the
- 9:32Speaker 4: United States of America that has gone rogue. I think
- 9:35Speaker 4: it's pretty clear the Democrats are now trying anything they
- 9:39Speaker 4: can to get their footing, whether it's impeaching Donald Trump
- 9:42Speaker 4: or saying he's a dictator or a tyrant or someone
- 9:45Speaker 4: not abiding by the constitution, all because Democrats don't know
- 9:49Speaker 4: what to do because there's so much winning going on
- 9:52Speaker 4: in Washington.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And lastly, story number three, I have.
- 9:55Speaker 4: An important list for you today, and is the list
- 9:58Speaker 4: of the likely tax cuts now Donald Trump wants in
- 10:01Speaker 4: the reconciliation bill. What this means for everyday Americans is
- 10:06Speaker 4: real savings for you.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:08Speaker 4: The plan has become even more ambitious, mainly because of
- 10:12Speaker 4: all the well abuse of your tax dollars that the
- 10:15Speaker 4: Trump administration has found in the last three weeks. The
- 10:18Speaker 4: Press Secretary Carolin Levitt came out to explain just one
- 10:22Speaker 4: of the abuses of your tax dollars being used against you,
- 10:25Speaker 4: and it was when the money they found was going
- 10:27Speaker 4: to media outlets including Politico. This is what has spun
- 10:31Speaker 4: the President up to give more of your money back
- 10:34Speaker 4: to you.
- 10:35Speaker 7: So upon coming out here to the briefing room, I
- 10:38Speaker 7: was made aware of the funding from USAID to media
- 10:43Speaker 7: outlets including Politico, who I know has a seat in
- 10:45Speaker 7: this room, and I can confirm that the more than
- 10:49Speaker 7: eight million taxpayer dollars that have gone to essentially subsidizing
- 10:53Speaker 7: subscriptions to Politico, the American taxpayer's dying will no longer
- 10:56Speaker 7: be happening. The dog's team is working on canceling those
- 10:59Speaker 7: payments now.
- 11:00Speaker 4: So when they find the money and then they decide
- 11:03Speaker 4: to cancel these types of payments, the question many asked was, well,
- 11:06Speaker 4: what's going to happen next? Well, it now is clear
- 11:09Speaker 4: the president saying he wants you to keep more of
- 11:11Speaker 4: your money and stop giving so much of it to
- 11:14Speaker 4: the government. President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are in
- 11:18Speaker 4: deep negotiations and went all weekend long on a tax
- 11:22Speaker 4: package that a budget watchdog group estimated would actually save
- 11:27Speaker 4: you five to eleven point two trillion over the next decade. Now,
- 11:33Speaker 4: if you read the media's explanation of that, they'll tell
- 11:36Speaker 4: you it's going to cost you between five trillion to
- 11:39Speaker 4: eleven point two trillion. No, no, that's how much the
- 11:42Speaker 4: government will not get from you. A series of tax
- 11:45Speaker 4: policy changes that Trump's supports appear to have broad support
- 11:48Speaker 4: among Republicans in Congress. The Committee for a Responsible Federal
- 11:53Speaker 4: Budget has released a study that projects the cost of
- 11:56Speaker 4: each item over a ten year period is going to
- 11:59Speaker 4: be huge page for you, the American people. Now, on
- 12:03Speaker 4: that list, at the top of it was one big thing,
- 12:06Speaker 4: eliminating taxes on tips. This was a huge promise from
- 12:09Speaker 4: Donald Trump during the campaign, something he said he would
- 12:12Speaker 4: work on as soon as he got into the White House.
- 12:14Speaker 4: It would result in a one hundred billion to five
- 12:17Speaker 4: hundred and fifty billion reduction in federal tax revenue, meaning
- 12:21Speaker 4: one hundred to five hundred and fifty billion of taxes
- 12:24Speaker 4: that you wouldn't have to pay to the government. We
- 12:27Speaker 4: also found out exempting overtime pay from federal taxes would
- 12:31Speaker 4: also give two hundred and fifty to three trillion back
- 12:36Speaker 4: into the pockets of American workers, and finally exempting Social
- 12:40Speaker 4: Security benefits from federal taxes would now cost between five
- 12:44Speaker 4: hundred and fifty billion and one point five trillion. That's
- 12:48Speaker 4: how the government is reporting it to the media as
- 12:50Speaker 4: they're trying to keep more of your dollars. So what
- 12:52Speaker 4: does it really mean. It means that Donald Trump and
- 12:55Speaker 4: the Republicans are wanting you to keep between five hundred
- 12:58Speaker 4: and fifty billion to one point five trillion that you
- 13:01Speaker 4: normally would have paid in taxes. We also have been
- 13:04Speaker 4: told that the present wants to lower taxes for US
- 13:06Speaker 4: production of certain goods that would save you between one
- 13:09Speaker 4: hundred to two hundred billion, and reducing tax benefits for
- 13:13Speaker 4: stadium owners and ending the carried interest loophole. They would
- 13:17Speaker 4: also save the taxpayers one hundred billion dollars. Now, all
- 13:23Speaker 4: of this is being put together in one of the
- 13:25Speaker 4: biggest tax plans we've ever seen. But this is not
- 13:28Speaker 4: a big tax plan that's going to raise your taxes.
- 13:30Speaker 4: It's going to go down in history as one of
- 13:32Speaker 4: the biggest tax cuts in American history. And this is
- 13:36Speaker 4: the reason why Democrats right now are so terrified of
- 13:40Speaker 4: Donald Trump and his success, because three weeks in we
- 13:43Speaker 4: also know that Donald Trump has a new high approval rating,
- 13:47Speaker 4: meaning the American people are paying attention and the American
- 13:51Speaker 4: people are in favor of exactly what Donald Trump is doing.
