- 1:06Welcome back to 6 Tales of Christmas. Today, we unwrap a
- 1:09story that's as sweet as it is profound, a story
- 1:13about Christmas cookies. But not just any cookies,
- 1:17these are the kind who find their way into the precious hands of the most
- 1:21hurting people. So grab a hot drink and settle in for
- 1:24a tale about when cookies crumble.
- 1:35Once upon a time, in the cozy kitchen of the great
- 1:38baker, there lived a batch of Christmas cookies.
- 1:43Each one was lovingly crafted with care and purpose,
- 1:47with ingredients that combine to be so delightful and desirable to
- 1:51everyone who catches their aroma. And the great baker
- 1:54is masterful in his kitchen, knowing just what each
- 1:58cookie is created for and who they are about to delight.
- 2:08A conversation unfolds as he places each warm treat
- 2:11onto the plate. Gingerbread,
- 2:15said the baker. You're strong and bold,
- 2:20made to stand tall for those in need. I need you to go to
- 2:23those who are mistreated and overcooked.
- 2:28Gingerbread puffed up with pride. You got it, baker.
- 2:31I'll stand up for them. No one will catch them. I'm the gingerbread
- 2:35woman. Next came Sugar
- 2:39Cookie, delicately shaped into a sparkling star.
- 2:44You, Sugar Cookie, are here to shine bright and bring joy into the dark
- 2:48places. I need you to go to those who are sad and
- 2:52grieving. Wonderful. Sugar Cookie Twinkled, his
- 2:55sprinkles catching the light. Oh, I'll do my very best to
- 2:59shine brightly within their darkness until the sun shines again.
- 3:05Then came snickerdoodle, warm and golden, dusted
- 3:08with cinnamon. You're the comforter, my dear. You
- 3:12remind others of love and home when they feel lost and alone.
- 3:16Mhmm. Snickerdoodle gave a soft soothing sigh.
- 3:19Ah. I like that, baker. I'll be there for anyone who
- 3:23needs me. Finally, the baker carefully
- 3:27lifted the peppermint shortbread. You, little one,
- 3:30bring refreshment and courage. You're a pick me
- 3:34up gift for those weary hearts. Shortbread
- 3:38beamed, her peppermint swirls gleaming. I'll make
- 3:42sure everyone keeps going, even when life gets tough.
- 3:46The cookies love their special callings and it was true.
- 3:50They came alive when they went to those the baker created them for in the
- 3:54community. They really did wanna make a difference.
- 4:06But as time went on, the cookies began to feel the weight of the work.
- 4:10Gingerbread found himself balancing more than she could handle, her
- 4:14strong arms starting to crack. Sugar cookie's
- 4:18bright sparkles began to fade as he tried to sparkle for everyone
- 4:22around her. Snickerdoodle's warmth started to cool,
- 4:26and Shortbread's peppermint swirls felt stretched thin.
- 4:31Gingerbread, with great worry and sadness, exclaimed,
- 4:34baker, I think I'm breaking. I wanted to be strong, but I
- 4:38don't know how much more I can hold. And then Sugar
- 4:41Cookie softly and wearily whispered, I'm trying to
- 4:45shine, but my sparkles are all gone. What if
- 4:49I'm not enough? Snickerdoodle gently, but
- 4:52worn out mumbled, even cinnamon feels tired.
- 4:57Baker, I don't know if I can keep comforting others.
- 5:02And then peppermint shortbread in a small voice squeaked,
- 5:06I wanted to refresh everyone, but now I just feel
- 5:10crumbly.
- 5:14The baker listened carefully to each cookie, his
- 5:17warm hands gently gathering them up.
- 5:29Oh, my sweet cookies. You weren't meant to do this all on your
- 5:33own. Even the strongest, sweetest, and
- 5:36brightest need care too.
- 5:41The baker continued calmly and reassuringly,
- 5:45I made you with purpose, and I see every crack and
- 5:49crumble, but you're never too broken for me to
- 5:52restore. Let's start with a little rest,
- 5:57a sprinkle of support, and some time together.
- 6:02When you're weak, then you can still be strong.
- 6:06Here, let me teach you.
- 6:10The baker called all his skilled helpers to care for all the
- 6:14crumbling cookies. They worked carefully and
- 6:18skillfully with each cookie that came crumbling back through those
- 6:21doors, soothing gingerbread's cracks,
- 6:25brightening sugar cookie sprinkles, and warming snicker
- 6:28doodle cinnamon, and then refreshing the swirls of shortbread.
- 6:34The baker declared with a satisfied smile, there
- 6:38you are ready to keep going again. But remember, when you feel like
- 6:41you're crumbling, my team of helpers and I are always here
- 6:45to keep you going. The cookies
- 6:49beamed. They realized they didn't have to do it all alone.
- 6:53With the baker's care and support, they could keep fulfilling their
- 6:56purpose. Their calling wasn't easy, but they
- 7:00sure brought a lot of hope into their community.
- 7:06This Christmas, the cookies remind us of the caregivers in our world,
- 7:10the foster parent, the social care worker, the
- 7:13pastor, the good neighbor, those who give so much to
- 7:17others but need a little care themselves.
